Fully admitting this here, I've run quests before but never any on /qst/ itself. This is just a mini quest to test the waters and get a general vibe for the pace around these parts. With that out of the way, let's get started. You awaken in a hazy void. Just stoney ground and white sky that stretches on endlessly. A creature that you've never seen before sits on a rock in front of you, a book balanced on its lap. Are those bat wings on its head?"Took you long enough. The sooner we get this started the sooner you can be on your way, so let's begin."The creature looks you up and down."I'm always forgetting how to tell you mortals apart. Are you a boy or a girl?">Boy>Girl>Did you just try to assume my gender you bat headed son of a bitch? I don't conform to your gender binary.>HOLY FUCK WHAT ARE YOU?
>>2371411>Did you just try to assume my gender you bat headed son of a bitch? I don't conform to your gender binary. But in all seriousness, I feel like we're going to get sent somewhere nasty if we give this guy lip, so>Boy
>>2371411You tell the creature that you are a boy. It cocks its head, like it's not sure if it should believe you or not, but then sighs and looks back at its book."Whatever you say." It starts to write down you gender. You notice at this point that the creature isn't using a pen, but rather a long, boney finger that seems to be covered in ink."Now, could you give me a name?"You pause. What IS your name, anyway? You honestly can't remember. You strain yourself trying to think of a few that might be it. Could it be...?>Alvis>Belhin>Calvin>Darren >Eren >Frank>Gar-"You still with me?" asks the creature, "if you can't remember just make one up, please, it will make this process go way faster."
>>2371630Faust is pretty tempting. Let's go with Faust
>>2371630You tell the creature that your name is Faust. Heh. That's pretty funny...hopefully you didn't sell your soul to end up wherever this place is. "Faust, good good, we're almost done, puff out your chest."Why? You puff out your chest, only for this creature's inky claw to jam right into your body!Besides for an initial sting, it's not too bad though. It fishes around inside you for a bit. "There we go...and..."The claw comes out, now holding a rolled up scroll."Your Scroll of Sins and Sacrifices. Now we'll see just how bad you were up above, along with other things."It opens up the scroll and gives it a look. A big, confused look grows on its face."What the...? No, this isn't right. Is this some kind of prank?"It shows you this scroll thing that was somehow inside you, and it's completely blank. Just a roll of paper."I need to get this figured out. These things are never just blank. I'll be right back You stay right here, don't move a muscle."With that, the creature's bat wings start to flap, and its flying! It turns away from you and flies off into the fog....what the fuck?>Follow it.>Stay put.>Run away.
>>2371768I feel like we're going to be eaten by demons if we run off, so I guess we'll stay here. Sorry for the wait, by the way.>Stay put.
>>2371768>Stay put.Not. A. Muscle.
>>2371936It's all good. I was honestly worried about things being too fast, so a slow burn is fine by my book>>2371768You're not gonna risk running off in this spooky void. It's best just to do what the bat thing said and stay put. So you do.Some time passes. Then more time.More time after that.Oh wow this is boring. You gotta do something or you'll die of boredom...well, die again from boredom. You can only assume you're actually deda and that this place really is the afterlife. Freaky stuff. Did you believe in an afterlife when you were alive? Eh, not important, you need to find something to do.Then you see it. The creature left its book on the rock! That could be some fun reading material. You sit down on the rock the bat was on and look into the book. The only problem is you can't actually read any of this! It's all strange symbols and runes of some kind. Maybe it's spirit tongue or something. You do hope that bat thing is a friendly spirit and not a full on demon. Before you can put the book down, you see something approach from the fog. It at first looks like a walking shadow, just dark mist in the white haze. But then it starts to become more defined. It looks like the body of some kind of knight, and an angry looking one at that."Are you the Judge?" the knight asks you.>Yes>No>Maybe>I don't know>Can you repeat the question?
>>2371992>NoNnnnnnope. Stuck in the same boat as you, dude.
>>2371992>MaybeWhat am I judging here? Fashion sense? Figure Skating?
>>2371992You can't lie to this scary looking dude, what would be the point of that? You tell him that you are no judge. The can't see the knight's face beyond the shadowy helmet, but his silence makes you feel like you might have said the wrong thing.I mean, maaaaaybe you're a judge, you tell him, you honestly don't know what's going on here in the first place.More silence. And then the knight speaks."If you're not the Judge...and you're another lost soul like me...that means we have an opportunity."Without warning, the knight shoves his own hand into his chest! This doesn't look painless either, whatever this knight is doing, it's hurting him. "AAAAAHHHHH!"He pulls out his scroll thing out of the shadowy hole he created for himself, and places it down for you."Quickly, before the Judge arrives, stamp my scroll with the Seal of Heaven. I have done many terrible things in the name of my empire, and I will not be damned for them if I have the chance."You look around. A stamp? Where could you find a- oh hey, there's a stamp right behind the rock, along with a wheel of different colored inks. You don't know what these inks mean though, as the text surrounding the wheel is also written in the strange spirit language."If you do this for me, you can do it for yourself too. You don't want to be damned, do you?"What do you do?>Tell him you don't know how to help.>Refuse on principle.>Stamp his scroll (choose a color).
>>2372114>Stamp his scroll > VioletRemember, Sir Knight, you asked for this. I would've picked pink for fun, but I don't know if that's a choice.
>>2372132For the sake of fun if you want to change your choice to pink, you may do so.
>>2372137Hell's yeah I'm changing it.
>>2372137>Stamp his scroll (Pink).I'll take your word for it, DM.
>>2372114This guy seems pretty desperate and trying to reason with him isn't going to do anyone any good. Thinking it over, you decide that pink is going to be the color you go with. Pink's not a damning color, right?>STAMPA big, pink glob in the shape of one of the spirit symbols now rests on the knight's scroll. He looks it over."This is good, right? I don't feel any different but...this is good, I'm sure-"The scrolls moves away from his hands and begins to float in front of you."This is it," says the knight, "I'll be going to Heaven!"The scroll poofs into a pink cloud, and is gone. Then, another shape takes form, one much larger than the knight. A palanquin carried by four shirtless, pink humanoids comes by and stops in front of you two. The door opens up to reveal a woman's form hiding behind a fan. "Come in," says the woman in a lingering, snake like voice, pointing to the knight. "We have a long journey ahead."The knight is unsure about what to do. "Are you...going to take me to Heaven?"The woman chuckles. "Compared to other places in these parts? Yes." She looks towards her servants, who are dead silent, and scowls. The servants then laugh, and they laugh loud, clearly faking it. The knight, with no other decision he can think of, starts to make his way into the palanquin. Before the doors close, the woman looks towards you."Are you coming too? We only received one scroll, but we have room.">Yes>No>You need more information. >Confess that the knight isn't meant to be there.
>>2372218Did we summon Slaanesh? Sounds like Slaanesh. And also extremely shifty. So>NoMaybe>You need more information. As well. I mean, it's probably hell, but may as well confirm it.
>>2372323Aww, messed up the color text, it seems. We'll try red next time.
>>2372218You shake your head, explaining that you haven't been stamped anywhere yet. But you do also ask to know where exactly she is planning on taking the knight. "Oh," she sighs, "the Underworld is always so chaotic. Countless souls coming in and, all varying degrees of good and bad, and a million things that need to be done with them. Not to mention all the demons we need to organize and distribute, and the dealings with the Heavens, it's all so complicated. That is where we come in. I am Tivanoth of the Demonic Bureaucracy, and this soul will be our newest servant."The knight, now sitting on a pillow in the palanquin, audibly gasps. "Servant!? What does that mean!?""It's simple," says Tivanoth (wow, even just thinking about that name stings your head for some reason) "you will help with the little things around the offices. Delivering letters, checking documents, cleaning floors, that sort of thing. And after a few millennia you may even earn a promotion. Honestly it's a far better fate than most of the souls down here get, you should be proud."The knight starts to shout. "I don't want to be some lackey! I was a warrior of the finest caliber in life, I was the deciding factor in entire battles!"That's odd, says Tivanoth , "we usually don't get soldiers. Oh well, if the Judge decreed it."The knight tries to get out of the box, but the door immediatly shuts on him. He lets out an audible scream as the pink humanoids start to head out.So this really is the Underworld and you've sentenced a man to an eternity of busy work. Huh.>Follow it.>Call out, you have more questions. >Stay here and keep waiting for the Judge. >Go exploring the void.
Off to snooze town. Will continue to update the quest where I can. Thanks to all that have contributed so far. And apologies for any messy writing there was.
>>2372331awe bees. now i feel bad for him. If only there was something we could do for him later.>Stay here and keep waiting for the Judgemight as well do his job for him while hes away.
>>2372697Supporting. Still don't see any reason to wander off yet. Guess we'll be the judge for a while.
>>2372331Well, looks like there's nothing else to do other than keep waiting for that judge dude to show up. You relax on the rock, trying to figure out what each color might represent on the wheel to pass the time. Maybe you can even do some more judgements yourself, it was pretty fun. But waiting around is so boring, and you can't see any more souls coming over the horizon...but wait, what's this? Something is approaching from the haze. A red skinned demon of some sort with a blade. Uh oh."Judge, what's going on here? The line's backed up and you haven't told me to let anyone else in. I sent that knight guy to check in on you and- wait, you're not the Judge. Who are you? Where's the Judge?">Tell him your name and nothing else.>Tell him your name and explain that you don't know who you are beyond that.>Tell him the Judge will be back soon and nothing else.>Lie; tell him you're the Judge's assistant.>Lie; tell him you ARE the new judge. >It's the fuzz, run!
>>2373260>Tell him the Judge will be back soon and nothing else.
>>2373260>>Tell him your name and nothing else.
>>2373260>Tell him the Judge will be back soon and nothing else
>>2373260Thinking quickly, you tell the demon that the Judge will be back soon and that you were told to just wait until he returns."Oh that's just great. He gets to wander away from his post while I've got a million souls yelling at me to let them in faster. If I could give him a piece of my mind, I'd-""You'd what, guard?"You turn around to see that the bat headed thing is back, flying a few feet off the ground, and he doesn't look happy."Oh, Judge! I was just um...can I let in more souls now?""In a minute," says the 'Judge', looking down at you, "we've got something to deal with first."The Judge flies down to you and pokes you in the chest with his boney finger. "You're coming with me, mortal. I don't know how you pulled off that blank scroll trick but it's got my bosses in an uproar and we're going to deal with it." The Judge nods to the guard, who instinctively raises his swords."Are you going to come quietly?">Let the Judge take you to wherever he wants you to go.>Explain to the Judge that you really don't know what this blank soul scroll is all about.>Ask for more details on where you're going. >Run for it!
>>2373646>>Ask for more details on where you're going.
>>2373646>>Explain to the Judge that you really don't know what this blank soul scroll is all about.
>>2373646>>Ask for more details on where you’re goingHe’s probably gonna bring us to his bosses, whether we try and explain our way out of this or not, so may as well find out who we’re gonna chat with. Satan, probably?
>>2373646Woah woah woah, let's slow down here for a second. You need to make sure you know what exactly is going on here. You demand to know just where the Judge and this demon guard are planning to take you."You're going to face the Demon Lords face to face. Do you know who the Demon Lords are? Did you study your religious books?" The Judge scoffs, "No matter. They will see you first hand, and then decide for themselves just where a soul with no history is meant to go."The Judge grabs your hand and starts to fly upwards again, pulling you off the ground with him."If I didn't know any better I'd say you died at childbirth, but then you would look like a baby, not a fully grown mortal."The demon guard jumps up and shakes his sword."Hey! What am I supposed to do!?""Go back to your post," says the Judge."But what about the souls!?""Keep them busy, I'll be back in a minute!"The demon guard stomps his foot as the two off you fly off into the haze.---Oh wow that is a BIG drop under you. It looks like a bottomless pit that just stretches on forever. This trip might take awhile. You might as well make some conversation with the Judge, right?>"What's your real name, Judge?">"You know, I really don't know why my scroll is blank.">"How long have you been a judge, Judge?">"Am I going to be tortured for all eternity?">"Can I go to Heaven?">Sing a song>Make farting noises>Shake around >Shake around but for real so you fall into the bottomless pit.
>>2374067>>"You know, I really don't know why my scroll is blank."
>>2374067>"You know, I really don't know why my scroll is blank."
>>2374067You try to explain to the Judge that you really don't know what's going on with your scroll. You didn't even know you had a soul scroll stuck inside your body. "Yeah yeah yeah, you say that now, but when the Demon Lords figure out this is another new mortal trick your kind have come up with, you'll be sorry." This guy's just not listening to sense...and what does he mean by "another?"---The fog eventually fades to reveal a massive palace hanging far above the ground below. The pit has given way to...wow, from up here, it really looks like that color wheel from the Judge's book. Just a big circle of various places, all glowing a distinct color. You have just enough time to look towards the pink section, a misty haze of pink smoke and buildings all cluttered together, before you are flung into the palace by the Judge. You roll around until you find yourself in an empty meeting room of some kind. You look around for any clues about what's going on, when suddenly-"FAUST! YOU HAVE BEEN ACCUSED OF FORGING A FALSE SCROLL OF SINS AND SACRIFICES. HOW DO YOU PLEAD?"The booming voice (or is it voices) seems to be coming from all around you, but there is no one in sight.>Guilty>Not guilty>Oh cool where are you guys?
>>2374504>>Oh cool where are you guys?
>>2374504This is pretty neat, you're not gonna lie. You call out to the empty room, asking where the Demon Lords are. "OUR PRESENCE IS TOO GREAT FOR A MORTAL SUCH AS YOU TO BE WORTHY OF SEEING US!""What does that even mean anyway?"Shut up, we need to talk in unison.""You're making us look bad in front of the mortal."Ah, bickering amongst the Demon Lords.IGNORE ALL OF THAT! ARE YOU GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY!>Guilty>Not guilty >No seriously guys where are you?
>>2374924>>No seriously guys where are you?
>>2374924You persist, asking again just where the Demon Lords are hiding. You even do a quick look around the room to sell your point."DO YOU THINK THAT THIS IS A GAME? YOU WILL TELL US WHETHER YOU ARE WORKING WITH THE REBELLION OR NOT, MORTAL!""Come on guys, look at him. He hardly even has a form, do you really think he's working with the rebels?""Are you serious right now? You're interrupting again?""They're getting craftier everyday. Who knows, maybe they've figured out how to work with new souls on the surface too."A rebellion in the underworld? Now that sounds interesting. "IGNORE ALL THAT! TELL US IF YOU ARE GUILTY OR NOT OF TAMPERING WITH YOUR SCROLL OF SINS AND SACRIFICES!">Yes >No>Maybe>I don't know>Can you repeat the question?>Where are you guys hiding?
>>2375186No, you did not mess with your scroll, and that is what you tell them firmly. "A LIKELY STORY! BUT WE SHALL SEE HOW WELL THIS HOLDS UP IN DEMONIC COURT!"Demonic court? That sounds even worse than regular court!"We're gonna take this guy to court? We don't have time for that.""I know, but this is serious, we have to find the time.""Do you know how backed up our judicial system already is? The Demonic Bureaucracy will have us held up for centuries."You hear all three voices cough simultaneous."JUST STAND THERE, MORTAL! A GUARD WILL BE HERE MOMENTARILY TO TAKE YOU TO YOUR HOLDING CELL! YOU CAN EXPECT THE TRIAL TO BEGIN IN...let's see, if we move lunch to Thursday...and then cancel that...5,000 YEARS!"That's a long time to wait around. You feel as if some weight in the room you did not notice before is slowly lifting. Are you alone?"Psst, mortal."I guess not."Let me cut you a deal here. How about I just let you...get out of here for a bit? You just run off to any part of the underworld you want and save the other lords and I some trouble? How's that sound?">Get out of here!>Stick around and wait for a trial.>Ask if you can go to Heaven instead.>Ask if you can come back to life instead.
>>2375545>>Ask if you can come back to life instead.t of here!
>>2375545>Ask if you can come back to life instead.
>>2375545You ask the disembodied voice of the Demon Lord if there is any way you could just come back to life instead of staying down here. The underworld is cool and all, but you'd prefer to be among living people."I would if I could, but the problem is we don't even know who you are, with your blank scroll and all that. If we sent you back up there, you'd be a ghost, some monk or priestess would find you and do some rituals, and you'd wind up back here again."As you speak with the Demon Lord, a shadowy figure steps down the hallway towards the room you're in. "There's not much time left. Get out now or go to the dungeon, your choice.">Stay>Go
>>2375889>Go 5000 years in a dungeon seems pretty crummy, let's blow this popsicle stand.
>>2375889>GoThis is probably his scheme but he could always try it on a different person.
>>2375889You might as well take this offer now and save yourself a 5000 year wait. You say that you'll accept his offer. Suddenly, everything goes black. You feel like you are floating. The Wheel of The Underworld forms in front of you. You could touch it if you just reached out far enough. You only know what one color represents, the Demonic Bureaucracy, but there are other places you can touch as well. You stop to think of the other colors. Images flash into your head. What color do you touch? From the blue middle section onwards. >A cold place.>A dark place.>A mysterious place.>The Demonic Bureaucracy.>A hot place.>A rusty place.>A rocky place.>A sandy place>A zappy place>A swampy place>A jungly place>A wet place.
>>2376211>A mysterious place.I dunno man, give us an idea, or else it may be better to just roll a dice.
>>2376211>A rusty placeSeems like a fun place
>2376211>>A mysterious place.
>>2376211Your hand reaches out to the deep orange of the wheel. A rusty place. Man made. Industrial. It calls out to you.---When you come to, you find yourself in the grimiest looking place you've ever seen. Just layers and layers of metal and chain link fences, dirt and ooze, and a million different people, all phantoms just like you, moving through it. Only these spirits are orange in color. You are still a very inky black. "FRUIT AND VEGGIES, FRUIT AND VEGGIES, ONLY COSTS AN ARM AND A LEG" yells a merchant somewhere in the crowd. "NEED TO VISIT ANOTHER LAYER OF HELL? I'VE GOT TICKETS ON THE CHEAP, THREE BODIES OF BLOOD" yells someone else"LOOKING FOR WORK? THE FOREMAN'S LOOKING FOR HARD WORKING SOULS" yells someone else. What do you do?>Get out of this crowd!>Go to the food seller.>Go to the ticket seller.>Go to the job offer.>Keep exploring.>Ask for directions.
>>2376479Oops, missed this one just as I was finished writing up this update. Because the majority voted for Mysterious, I will take it into account for the future.
>>2376492>Get out of this crowd!
>>2376492>Go to the job offer. We can ask this guy questions while pretending to look for work.
>>2376492> ask for directionsI mean maybe you'll get useful info
>>2376536>>2376636>>2376666Just so we all know, in situations where there are multiple response but no general consensus, I like to give it up to chance to decide these things. I assign each of the responses on a die, roll that die myself, and go from there. >>2376492Hey, if someone's offering jobs, they've got to know how things work around here. You make your way through the sea of spirits, stepping on plenty of toes along the way, until you come up to a chunky looking demon standing with a megaphone."You there!"The demon notices you right away. Must be because of your color differences. "New in town? You look like a soul in need of some employment. You ever work in a factory before?"The spirits nearby groan and boo. Clearly they've been waiting for this character to talk to them and you just stole the spotlight. "Reasonable hours, decent pay, and affordable housing provided. What do you say?">Accept the job, no question.>Ask him for more details about the job.>Ask him what this town actually is. >Decline the job, keep exploring.
>>2371992>>Can you repeat the question?YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME NOW!
>>2376787>>Decline the job, keep exploring.I like this quest and wanna see all its corners.
>>2376787You think it over for a bit and decide...nah, you don't need a job right now. You'd much rather keep looking around the city. You politely decline the offer and walk away, the orange spirits filling your spot and demanding work."Wait! I can sweeten the deal," calls out the demon, "sign up now and I can guarantee you a blood bonus! Come back!"Woof, what a desperate demon. You are walking through the thick crowds of spirits again. The merchants are still calling out their wares."CABBAGE! ACTUAL CABBAGE, REAL CABBAGE, JUST AN ARM AND A LEG" yells out the food merchant. The ticket seller yells out as well. "NEED A LAWYER? TICKETS TO THE DEMONIC BUREAUCRACY AND MORE RIGHT HERE! YOU CAN'T GET THEM CHEAPER THAN THIS!"Suddenly, a new noise is thrown into the pot of sound. BEEP BEEP! A large bus slowly chugs down the street spitting out smoke and sparks. The doors of it are wide open, and it's packed with spirits. A voice comes out from a loudspeaker on the top of the bus. "And over on your left you'll see the merchants district. Knickknacks from all over the Underworld can be bought right here! You'll never go wanting!" Must be some kind of tour bus. What do you want to do?>Go to the food seller.>Go to the ticket seller.>Get on the tour bus. >Get out of this crowd! Have these souls never heard of personal space?
Gonna head back to snooze town soon, but I'll be back soon enough to keep up the story. Thanks again to everyone that's been participating, you've all been great so far. >>2376796And thank you for feedback. Always happy to know when my stuff wins people over.
>>2376950>Get on the tour bus.
>>2376950>>Get on the tour bus.
>>2376950You squirm your way towards the slow moving bus and try to get a foot through the door. As you do so, you notice that while the bus is clearly going slow enough for people to get out of the way, not many spirits actually do. Are they going to get run over by this thing? You step inside the bus and squeeze through the souls until you're nice and snug in the middle of this sardine can on wheels. Driving the bus, you see a strange figure in uniform surrounded by tubes that seem to carelessly dangle above him. You can't tell for sure if this is a human soul or a demon, as details are obscured by the bodies that keep shifting around you."This tour's just getting started folks. This tour's for you, so where do you want to head next! We've got the residential district, the factory district, the entertainment district, the coast, we've got it all folks!"There's a long, unbroken silence from the crowd. "Aww, come on now," says the tour guide, "we're all here to have some fun. Someone suggest something, I'll take us their in no time.">Residential District>Factory District>Entertainment District >The Coast
>>2377754After some time, people start to speak up. Some say the coast, others say the entertainment district, and soon enough it's just words and words all going over each other."I heard entertainment district," says the driver, "let's go!"The bus chugs along at its painfully slow speed for some time. What you're more surprised about though is the sheer amount of bumps you seem to be going over as the drive goes on...maybe the bus IS running people over. ---Eventually, you look out the window to find that you are in a new part of the city. One that's just as rusty and dirt as everything else you've seen, but with more wires, more lights, more advertisements all around."Over here is the entertainment district, best place to relax in all the Underworld! Us folks in Vile City love a good show, and they're all right here. To your left you can see the Cruel Theater, where you can catch the latest films that are just to die for. To the right is Suffering Stadium, where I believe the Cry Demons are playing for their latest tour! And up ahead you've got Sinner's Casino, where the blood's always flowing!"Sounds like there's a few interesting places to check out. What do you want to do.>Go to the Cruel Theater>Go to the Suffering Stadium >Go to the Sinner's Casino>Stay on the bus (choose either the factory district, the coast, or the residential district)
>>2378104>>Go to the Suffering Stadium
>>2378104>Go to the Suffering Stadium this sounds fun
>>2378104That Suffering Stadium sounds interesting to you. The name's a bit morbid but some music might be a nice change of pace. You try to get off the bus along with a handful of other spirits blocking the door. As you do so, you notice that the bus driver at the front has his hands on one of the tubes and is bringing it down to some sort of bag. Suddenly, blood starts spewing out of the tube and into the bag! Disgusting! On your way out, you notice just how red the front of the bus looks. You make your way over to the massive stadium in the city. Compared to the rusty buildings around you, it looks fairly well kept. Despite there supposedly being a concert here, you don't see too many people lining up. A large, muscle bound demon stands before you."Got it a ticket for the Cry Demons show, sir?">Yes>No (attempt to purchase ticket)>No (attempt to make an excuse)>Lie; You're a big shot who's too important for a ticket.>Distract, then run inside. >"Who are the Cry Demons?"
>>2378374>>Lie; You're a big shot who's too important for a ticket.
>>2378374You know how to deal with guys like this. You scoff and hoot at the demon. A ticket? Excuuuuse me? Does he KNOW who you are? You're Faust! You are a big shot, you don't pay for things. "I've never heard of you."Um...>Point to your black body. You're different than the other spirits from around here.>Say you've talked to the Demon Lords. You're important like that. >Say you have a blank soul scroll. That's unique, right?>[Write in] Make up whatever you want.
>>2378718>>Point to your black body. You're different than the other spirits from around here.
>>2378718You point to your black body and do a little twirl. You're not some orange soul, you're different, and therefor, you're important, obviously. "That's true, you're not bound to Vile City, but souls come from all over. You could be pink for all I care, that doesn't mean you're special."He looks closer at you though, and sniffs a bit."A black soul though. That means you've not be assigned to a realm of the Underworld yet...how'd you get all the way over here? Shouldn't you be getting judged?"Uhhh...>Double down; you were too important to be judged.>Explain; there's been some confusion on how to properly judge you.>Leave; try to find another way into the stadium.>Leave; go somewhere else.
>>2379123Oops, forgot the name.
>>2379123>>Double down; you were too important to be judged.
>>2379123You scoff again in the demon's face. Obviously you weren't judged, you're FAUST! You're too important for that sort of thing. The demon eyeballs you again, and then turns down to what looks like some kind of walkie-talkie hanging from his chest."Hey Bazag, do you know any famous mortals named Faust? There's a Faust trying to sell me some story at the door."The walkie-talkie crackles back."Faust? Gelroth, I think that guy wrote a book or something. Didn't he sell his soul?"Haha, literary knowledge pays off! This demon thinks you're famous!"Alright, you can come in, but don't tell anybody."You walk through the gates into the stadium only to find...the longest line you've ever seen! It stretches on forever! No wonder no one else was at the door, there's hardly any room! What do you do?>Wait in line, duh.>Try to cut ahead.>Walk around the line and check out what's around the stadium.>Leave.
>>2380119Apologies for the changed ID, moved around a bit. I think tomorrow I'll give myself an actual tripcode just to be super secure but for now I must rest. Tomorrow probably won't have too many updates but I'll do what I can, so keep on voting for what little Faust should do next on his adventures through the industrialized underworld.
>>2380119Ask the guy in front of you what's the entertainment.
>>2380119>>Walk around the line and check out what's around the stadium.
>>2380119>Walk around the line and check out what's around the stadium.Let's explore the area a bit more. Fuck waiting in a line. Faust needs some snacks. Assuming souls eat.
>>2380119>>Walk around the line and check out what's around the stadium.Surprised picking Faust as a name had any effect, though I'm glad I did now. Gonna have to hope we don't run into the real one I guess.
>>2380119Forget this! You're not gonna wait in some line for a show you didn't even pay for. You might as well check out what's going on around the line though. Could be some neat merchandise to buy or something. You walk around the halls of the stadium past the lines of eagerly waiting souls. Some watch you suspiciously, trying to make sure you're not trying to cut.To your left you see a stand selling all things Cry Demons. T-Shirts, CDs, hats, even a few old school records and gramophones. The line for that is quite long as well, but compared to the line to see the show you think you can handle it.To your right, past the line, is a stand for food. At least you think it's food. It's some kind of greasy meat on a stick, but it glistens and shimmers like it's either covered in sugar or dew. Whatever it is, it looks delicious, in a complete junk food sort of way. There's also a bathroom you can head towards. Do souls need to pee? And then of course there's the entrance to the actual seats of the show. There's another demon guard standing by there, maybe that Bazag character (ow ow ow okay stop thinking about the names please). Maybe you could try slipping past the line and getting right into the show.>Go to the merchandise stand.>Go to the food stand.>Go to the bathroom.>Try to sneak into the show.>Wait in line.Trying out a tripcode now.

>>2380824>>2380824You were able to get past one of these demons, you're sure you can sneak past another. While the demon is looking over the line of excited souls, you tip toe your way past his vision. All you need to do is-"HEY! NO CUTTING THE LINE!"You might have avoided the demon's line of sight, but those spirits in line are plentiful, and it only takes one pair of eyes to notice you.The demon turns to you. "Just what's the big idea here?">Apologize, get in line.>Apologize, walk away and rethink your strategy.>Double down; Doesn't he know you're FAUST?>Run past him. >[Write in] Come up with a new excuse to get past him.

>Apologize, walk away and rethink your strategy.Oh man, missed the last one. Let's go for the greasy Suger-Meat Stick. This is exactly what we need right now!
>>2381468>[write in] I’m the entertainment I’m late
>>2381468You apologize to the demon and quickly move away from the line to save some face. Despite how far you move away though, you can't help but feel that the demon is still keeping an eye on you. It's hard to tell, the guy had a pretty scrunched up face. You gotta rethink your strategy here. How could you sneak into this show? A few ideas run through your mind.>Look for a backstage entrance.>Get some Cry Demon merch and try to bribe the guard. >Get one of those meat things and try to bribe the guard.>Try to mooch a ticket off of one of the souls in line.>Figure out a way to cause a distraction for the guard. >Give up and get in line.>[Write in] Come up with your own wacky scheme. Woo, I think this is the most responses yet. Not too bad for my first /qst/ quest, I'd say.
>>2382837>Look for a backstage entrance
>>2382837>Look for a backstage entrance.
>>2382837There's only one way you're getting to that show, and that's by sneaking through the back. Who needs backstage passes anyway? You pick up the pace as you start looking around the entire circular stadium for the right looking door that could lead you backstage. You think you can hear music playing from the stage, but the lines are still long, hopefully it's just the opening act. Then, you see it. A small entrance on the opposite side of the stadium that says "stage door." That's gotta be it, right?Just one problem. The door is on fire. Literally just on fire. Is this what the Underworld considers security?Speaking of security, you can't help but feel that you're still being watched somehow. Maybe it's just nerves.Let's focus on the door literally on fire, which no one seems to mind. How are you gonna deal with this?>Just jump through. You're already dead, who cares?>Find a fire extinguisher! They need to have one around here somewhere.>Go to the bathroom and get some water to put out the fire. >Find some staff and figure out what's going on here.>Leave and try to find another way in.

>>2383201>Just jump through. You're already dead, who cares?
>>2383201Come on, you're dead. A little fire isn't going to hurt you. You take a few steps back, prepare yourself, run, and LUNGE!It does not go well. You leap right through a burst of flames, and catch on fire! And it does hurt you! This is the exact opposite of what you thought was going to happen! You hit the ground and start rolling, but the flames keep spreading! Who knew souls were so flammable? You can see a group of around five figures approaching you, confused. "Who let this fan back here? He better have a VIP pass!"You reach out to touch them, begging for help, only for your hands to burn even more! Upon closer inspection, you realize these men are made out of fire!Demons in crew shirts run in and gently motion the flame people away. "Don't worry boys, just focus on putting on a good show, we'll get rid of this guy." These are the Cry Demons? And they're made entirely of fire? You soon pass out from the pain. ---When you wake up, you're outside of the stadium, being lugged away from it on the shoulder of Gelroth, the demon security guard at the front of the stadium."We looked you up. You're not the real Faust at all. He's all the way in the Arcane. You're in big trouble, mortal.">Try to explain the truth.>Try to explain the lie.>Try to wiggle to freedom.>Bite him.>Ask why the Cry Demons are made of fire.
>>2383919>>Try to wiggle to freedom.
>>2383919>Ask why the Cry Demons are made of fire.
>>2383919Trouble or not, you have questions. Still aching from the pain, you ask the demon why the Cry Demons are made out of fire."You really are new, aren't you? The Cry Demons are the biggest band in the Underworld, and anyone who knows anything knows that they were souls from Old Hell who rose through the ranks and became Flame Demons. You'll have plenty of time to learn about that once you're in the cells for identity theft."So souls can become demons? Interesting. Maybe that could be a goal for you down the line. But for now, it looks like you're going to jail.---You find yourself in a crowded prison cell full of souls. But considering everything else you've seen in Vice City, that's not a surprise. Shame, you came to this city to get away from a dungeon, and now you're in one. What are you going to do?>Talk to some of the souls. >Try to find a way to escape.>Get the attention of a prison guard.>Start a fight, you gotta prove you're tough.>Just wait and see what happens.
>>2383919We burned on the floor till our soul passed out? Guess we fucked up.>Try to explain the lie.>We didn't lie at all! >We are Faust, the Unjudged, the Unassinged, free to wander the realms of the Underworld. >And it's definitely not our fault if he mistook us for a different Faust.
>>2384125whoops too late! >>2384118>Talk to some of the souls.
>>2384118>Just wait and see what happens.
>>2384118>>Talk to some of the souls.
>>2384118You turn to one of the souls nearby, who looks nearly identical to everyone else around here, and ask what he's in for? "Who wants to know? Get out of my face."Okay, rude. You ask another spirit."Get lost."You try one more time."I'm sorry sir, but as you can probably tell, the atmosphere in this cell is already uncomfortable as is, and I'd rather just focus on keeping to myself rather than having a conversation."Darn. You can't seem to get anyone to talk to you. Maybe you just need to find the right person. You get up against the wall and stand on your tip toes, trying to see over the crowds for anyone who stands out. In this crowd of dude souls you actually do see one woman. She is wearing some sort of flapper get up. Guess jail in the Underworld is co-ed. She seems to be impatiently waiting for something, probably a trial or whatever is supposed to happen around here. You also see a demon in the crowd, which is odd, considering most of these prisoners are human souls. He seems friendly enough though, chatting and laughing with some of the other prisoners. Finally you see a man in a nice looking suit, whispering to some of the other nearby souls. He looks like he's an in charge kinda guy.>Talk to the flapper girl.>Talk to the friendly demon.>Talk to the suited man.>Forget about talking to people and wait this out.

>>2384469You wade through the crowd until you approach the friendly looking demon. compared to the sharper and more violent looking creatures you've seen down here, this guy is round and bubbly. He let's out a big laugh before turning towards you."Well hey there stranger. Fancy meeting a new soul all the way down here. My name is Delgrimok and I'm always ready to say hello to new face. You're just in time to hear the next part of my story on how I got thrown into this here little cell, would you care to listen? >>2384775You got discord? You and I have to talk sometime.
>>2384773Your brain hurts too much not to ask Delgrimok this question. Why in the world does it hurt so much to think about these demon names?"Oh now I can answer that real easy, stranger. You see, the spiritual world and the world of meat that you come from don't really get along too well. Us demons are born etherial like, and you gotta start out as meat first. Right now even though you're a soul, your head's still thinking like you're back in meat space. Some words and some things just have elements you can't quite comprehend just yet. That's why your head smarts when you think of my name, but give it some time, you'll get over it. Now...where was I...oh yeah, my story."You can hear the footsteps of guards coming towards the cell.>Ask him about what's going to happen to you.>Ask him to help you get out of the cell.>Tell your story about how you got down here.>Lie about how you got down here.>Listen to his story.>>2385043I've got a personal discord but nothing really set up for /qst/ purposes yet. >>2385125You ask Delgri- uh, the demon, to continue his story about how he was thrown in jail. The souls around him immediatly turn their heads to hear him speak; they've clearly been engaged in his tale and you coming in was just an interruption."Well now, settle down, as I was saying I was checking the magma pipes in the factory, cleaning out the gunk and the tones, and I find this whole group of rebels just hiding down in there planning who knows what to cause all kinds of chaos to production. Not around the pipe, in the pipe, where at any minute they could be burned up and sent halfway across the Underworld! Now I ain't no rebel myself of course, so I was gonna go call the authorities on these guys, but then this one fella looks me in the eyes. And I swear to you, I double dare swear to you, he was telling me his whole life story with that one look. Scared guy just trying to do what he thought was right and didn't have no idea how to say it. So I tells them to get going, get gone, and go as far away as possible, and I'll just say I just missed 'em, but the moment they get going my boss comes in and sees me letting them go! Worst looking position I could be! So that's why I'm here. But I'm sure the system will understand."The souls begin to chat and discuss the events with each other. Clearly this rebellion situation is exciting news, but whether they're for or against whatever it really is, well, that's hard to tell over all the voices."Faust! Get over here!"A security guard demon comes over to the cell and waits for you. You approach, he opens the gate just wide enough to let you slip out, and leads you off.---You find yourself in an interrogation room, your arm handcuffed to a chair arm. A demon in the goofiest detective getup you've seen in awhile talks to you."Why'd you pretend to be an 17th century alchemist, mortal?">Explain that Faust is just the name you gave yourself, it's not your fault the demons thought you were someone else.>Lie; Faust is your real name! Those demons are so dumb they just thought you were famous and let you in!>Lie; You ARE a 17th century alchemist.>Demand a lawyer.
>>2385373>Explain that Faust is just the name you gave yourself, it's not your fault the demons thought you were someone else.Option two is just going to piss him off, option three has no chance of going through, and I feel like demanding a lawyer in Hell isn't really going to fly. That or it's going to guarantee that they'll regard us as guilty.
>>2385373Back to the snooze trail I travel. Tomorrow might have less posts than usual but if you've already stuck around with my odd posting times this far, I'm sure you'll be ready for it. >>2385373>>Explain that Faust is just the name you gave yourself, it's not your fault the demons thought you were someone else.
>>2385373You tell the detective that Faust is just a name you gave yourself when you first woke up in the Underworld. The demon security guards just mistook you for someone else, so really this is on them."Uh huh. So you pretending to be celebrity in order to sneak into a Cry Demons show without paying had nothing to do with this. You also just happened to have the same name as a famous person, who was unrelated to you pretending to be famous. I like Cry Demons as much as the next guy, but was getting yourself thrown in here really worth it? Their new stuff isn't even that good."Uh..."Let me see your scroll, please."Uhhh...The demon takes off his glove to reveal that he also has an inky claw similar to the Judge's. He shoves his hand right into your chest! Luckily it doesn't really hurt too badly. He fishes around inside you for a bit only to come out empty handed."What's going on here? Where is your scroll, mortal?">Tell the truth; it was taken by the Judge and he never gave it back to you.>Lie; you lost it.>Lie; you're too important to have one.>Play up confusion; you honestly have no idea how soul scrolls even work, much less why you don't have yours right now.>Demand a lawyer.

>>2386167>>Tell the truth; it was taken by the Judge and he never gave it back to you.Not really any reason to lie to him on this. We may have to organize a prison break soonish though, since he's probably going to tell his higher-ups.
>>2386167>>Tell the truth; it was taken by the Judge and he never gave it back to you.
>>2386167The truth is the only thing that's going to set you free. You tell the detective that your scroll was taken by the Judge when you first entered the Underworld, and after some bureaucratic shenanigans, he never gave it back. You avoid mentioning the specifics about your soul scroll being blank or your run in with the Demon Lords, but you can tell that this detective thinks something fishy is going on here."Is that so? That would explain why you're still a black soul. I'll be back. You just get comfortable, this might take awhile."The detective leaves the room. You sit around, playing with the handcuff with your free hand, waiting for him to come back. As you do this, you look around the room and try to take everything in. There's the single door in and out of the place. You assume that the detective locked it, but who knows. There's a big mirror behind you, which you assume has someone on the other side watching you, but you can't be sure about that either. You're getting antsy now, this guy's taking awhile. You shake a little from side to side, and realize something. You might be handcuffed to this chair, but the chair itself is fairly light and only loosely connected to the floor. With enough shaking, you could pop this thing loose and just stand up. It'd be awkward, but you're certain you could do it. You hear muffled talking from outside the room, and try to catch a few words."Blank.""Judge.""Rebel.""Lords."What do you do?>Just wait for the detective to come back.>Get up and break this chair apart. >Get up and use the chair to try breaking the glass.>Get up and try to go for the door.>Get up and hide under the table. >Wait for the detective to come in, then get up and surprise him with a chair to the face.>"Hey, detective, can you hear me out there? >>2386601You call out to the detective to fix your seat, and he eventually returns with a stern look on his face. Again, you say that your chair is loose and you should get that fixed."You won't be sitting in here anymore, so I wouldn't worry about it."The detective takes you out of the cuffs and roughly drags you out of the interrogation room.---You find yourself in a solitary confinement cell. You're being kept here until authorities from the Demon Lords themselves come to the station and personally take you back to the dungeon you were supposed to be held in. It looks like the officers in Vice City contacted the Judge to figure out who you were and learned the full story of how you got here. You're a person, not smoke, you can't do these things. Maybe that friendly demon was right, your mind really is still in meat space. Guess you'll just chill for awhile.---You wake up from a quick nap to the sounds of some kind of struggle. "GET BACK HERE!""YOU'RE UNDER ARREST!""STOP HER!"Is this some kind of prison riot?! You can't tell from inside this room. Hopefully nothing bad happens to you-BOOM! The door to your cell is blasted open and falls to the ground! Let's get out of here.">Go with her.>Stay in your cell.>"I'm sorry ma'am, but I'm not affiliated with the rebels."I see we're not bumping up anymore. >>2388897Surprised by the sudden turn of events, you quietly take the woman's hand and are quickly lead down the hall, prisoners all hooting and hollering as you go. A timid looking orange man follows behind, stopping to open every mass holding cell he can as you make your great escape. "Keep up the pace, Barry!" yells the woman. "I didn't sign up for this, Betty!" yells the man back. You consider telling the woman that you're not actually part of rebels, but everything is moving so fast that you can't find the words. Prison guards try to stop you, but they are quickly overwhelmed by the sheer amount of souls running around the facility. Maybe the population problems down here can be used to your advantage. Just as you are about to escape the prison with a wave of criminal souls following behind you and the mysterious Barry and Betty, everything goes black. All you see is a blank scroll floating in the void. Something invisible begins to write on it. It is as if you can feel the ink sinking into your very being. "Through a series of lies, sowed the seeds of panic in the City of Vices."---You awaken in the back of some kind of car that's shaking like a leaf. Betty is driving while Barry watches over you. "Thanks for passing out on us, chum, you almost got us killed.""Leave him alone," says Betty, "he's special, I heard the guards say it themselves. He's some kind of rebel secret weapon." >>2389238You better get this out now before it gets anymore awkward. You tell Betty and Barry that you aren't actually part of the rebels. At first it doesn't seem to register to either of them, too focused on trying to get away from whoever might be following them, but then Betty's face goes cold, followed by Barry's."What did you just say?" asks Betty."You're telling me we're saving this guy for nothing?!" yells Barry. Before they can do anything about this news, you hear a loud POP outside followed by the sounds of denting metal. Barry focuses himself on the task at hand and grabs a strange, almost organic looking firearm from his lap, sticks it out the window and fires off at whatever is pursuing them. You look out the back window to find three terrifying flying demons coming after you! One of them is blasted back by the meaty looking bullet form Barry's gun, but stabilizes itself in the air and continues the pursuit. "When we get out of this, you are so dead!" yells Betty. You look at the road ahead, spirits either running away or being run over. Gruesome. Up ahead you see a three way intersection. "As long as you're up, you can at least help us get away from these things. Where should we go to get these bats off our backs?"You look at the signs ahead. >Factory District >Residential District >The Coast
>>2389703Crowds helped you get away before, crowds will do it again. You tell Betty to make a turn into the residential district. "Buckle up then, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!"A few quick turns later and the three of you are driving through roads and roads of nearly identical buildings, presumably apartments. This city is so crowded that there are even buildings above the buildings, along with random scraps of metal and beams that hold them up. All the while, you are plowing through who knows how many souls. You can't help but grimace at the sight."Don't worry about them," says Betty, "they'll get up. Not like you can really die again.""Just gives the demons more creative ways to hurt you. At least it's a steady supply of blood."That's when you notice the roof of the car, and the loose pipes pumping with what you presume to be the blood of the soul victims into some kind of tank in the back. Now just why would a soul bleed?POP POP POP! More blasts from the demons pursuing you, and they're hitting the car bad. If these damned devils weren't flying above the crowds, maybe this would actually work. There's gotta be something you can do to help. You notice another organic gun near Betty's side, one that she's clearly not using right now. Maybe you could use it to help. >>2390824The forces of sleep are overtaking me. I didn't get to make as many updates as I wanted today, but on the bright side, I've archived the thread! So if anyone wants to throw votes its way or just see the archive in advance, here's the link: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2371411/Big choices are coming up for where Faust's journey might take him next. Keep up the votes and I'll see you all next time.
>>2390824>>Take the gun and shoot at the metal above; maybe can cause something to fall.
>>2390824>>Get the blood hose and use it against the demons.
>>2390824You've got all this blood around you, why not get creative with it. You grab one of the pipes from the roof of the car and tug at it until the thing pops off and becomes a makeshift hose in your hand. Blood starts to fire out from the pipe and into the car."Ah no," says Barry, "what are you doing to my car!?""That's good blood you're wasting!" yells Betty. You stick your head out the window and take the hose with you, the nearby souls staring in awe at all the blood you're just giving out for free. While you take aim at the demons, you notice what looks like small, angry looking fish biting into the side of the car. Are these the things that the demons have been firing at you?POP POP POP! You duck your head back into the car just as three screaming meat bullets, that look exactly like those creatures biting into the car, fly by. You pop your head back up and squeeze the hose, spraying blood all over at the demons. They spin around in the air, blinded by your blood, descend closer to the crowds. Excited by the prospect of blood, the souls jump into the air and grab onto the demons, dragging them into the masses. You've won! At least for now...---You find yourself at a strange looking train station, strange in the fact that there's only one track that somehow stays perfectly afloat over the massive void that the Judge flew you over back when you first got here. You can't actually see any trains either. Betty and Barry look at you disapprovingly."Okay, that blood trick might have been clever, but you still blew through a ton of hard earned juice" says Betty."Yeah, and you still LIED about being a resistance member" huffs Barry, making sure not to be too loud to signal off any nearby demons."So tell us," says Betty, "why shouldn't we just knock you out and turn you in?">Because they'd both be arrested too.>Because you're valuable to the Demon Lords for some reason, which means you can be valuable to Betty to Barry.>Because there's clearly something special about you and you can't figure out what it is locked away in a cell.>Because they are just nice people.
>>2391658>>Because there's clearly something special about you and you can't figure out what it is locked away in a cell.
>>2391658You tell Betty and Barry the cold hard facts; you don't know all the details, but there's clearly something special about you. Your soul scroll is out there and it's completely blank. This is apparently a big enough deal for the Demon Lords to want you locked up. There's something special about you, and if you get captured, you'll never learn what it really is.The two of you look at each other, almost silently debating if they should care or not. With a sigh, they lead you over to the ticket booth."Come on," says Betty, "just pick a place and get as far away from us as possible.""There are resistance camps all over the underworld," says Barry, "maybe they'll know what's going on with you, even if you don't work with them."You head over to the ticket booth. A man similar to the bus driver from awhile back, someone you can't fully tell is a human soul or a demon, smiles politely. "Betty, Barry, who's your friend?" says the ticket taker?"Doesn't matter," says Betty, "he needs a ticket and you owe us a favor. Let's make this quick.""Okay okay," says the ticket taker, "where's he heading?"Everything goes black. You see the wheel of the Underworld.Where do you want to go?>A cold place.>A dark place.>The Arcane.>The Demonic Bureaucracy.>Old Hell.>Vice City (YOU ARE HERE)>A rocky place.>A sandy place>A zappy place>A swampy place>A jungly place>A wet place.I'm gonna let this choice sit for a bit for people to discuss. As you probably already know, where you go will change up the types of adventures you might find.
>>2392368>A jungly place
>>2392368>>A dark place.
>>2392368Do we get any further insight as to what we can expect in the henceforth undiscovered places?
>>2392650Faust still hasn't learned enough about the Underworld to know much about the completely unknown places, but the now named locations have been mentioned previously and have had certain details about them hinted at.
>>2392368>>2392368I don't know what to expect from the choices, so it's hard to argue for any of them. But here is my reasoning:Becoming a demon sounds like a fun goal, but learning more about who or what we are should be an obvious priority. Asking the Demonic Bureaucracy doesn't seem like a good idea since we are hunted by the “goverment“, so seeking out the rebels to learn more about the underworld and possibly us seems like the way to go. A jungly Place? Fighting against monkey and tiger demons in a hot and humid environment? No thanks.A dark Place? In Hell?Seems like a bad place to be.It's cold outside where i am so i'm in the mood for some frozen hell/icy wasteland type adventure. Let's see what we find there. >>A cold place.
>>2392368A dark place. A dark place. That is where you want to go. ---When you come to, Barry, Betty, and the ticket taker look at you, confused. "Uh..." says the ticket taker, "you mean Nada? Geez, I suspected you needed to hide, but that's a pretty rough place to head. Are you sure?"Before you can say anything, Betty confirms it for you. "Yep, Nada, send him there, give him that ticket."You are given a dark indigo ticket and Barry walks you over to the hanging railroad. You wait until a massive train chugs towards you, somehow staying up in the air despite all logic saying it should go tumbling into the void. It comes to stop before you, the train being completely empty. "Good luck out there," says Barry, "you're gonna need it."You step into the train just as you hear the familiar flapping sounds of the bat demons. You take a seat (all of them are empty, of course) and the train soon enough chugs back into the unknown. I think this is a good stopping point for now. I'm thinking we take a couple days to let this adventure all settle in and then start up episode 2 once this thread is on page 10. Of course, if you think we should keep going until the thread literally can not go on any longer, I'd be willing to listen to arguments for it. As I said, I'm new to /qst/ itself so I'm still learning the proper etiquette of it all.
