Deep beneath the capital city of Celeste, below the grand church spires of the Holy One and his Angels, beneath the tall stone and timber buildings lining the streets, below the streets themselves. Lower and lower, beneath the ground, into the vast sewer system full of mysteries and horrors. A man is hunched over a worktable, the room he sits in is a long abandoned cistern, full of all sorts of bookshelves, books, tools, and more disturbingly, several human cadavers. The man is not disturbed by these disturbing things; instead he is working on a set of blueprints. To his left stands a skeleton, possessed with an infernal fire manifesting as small pinpricks of light in its eyes. The skeleton sports a metal plate welded to its head, holds a broom in its hands, and somehow whistles a cheery drinking song from ages long past, annoying the sole living inhabitant of the chamber. The inhabitants name is Henry, necromancer extraordinaire. The skeleton’s metal plate sports an engraving, “Johnny”. Johnny would argue that Henry is a mediocre necromancer on a good day. Regardless, both stop their work when they hear terrified shrieking coming from the sewer tunnel next to their home. Cursing, Henry lifts himself up, sweeping the unfinished plans away in frustration, and grabs a small dagger from his side. He wonders what poor drunkard managed to end up this far from the surface at this time of night, or at least he thought it was night. Johnny makes a sighing noise before grabbing a torch off the wall and following his master out into the tunnel. Stepping out into the great out-sewers, Henry pauses in confusion at the sight of a child running from a rodent the size of a dog. He takes note of the torch the boy is carrying, and briefly wonders to himself why the brat isn’t just using the fire to chase the rat off. Then he wonders what a small child is doing down this deep, at this time of day. 1. attack the rodent with your dagger2. attack with magic (warning you only have so many uses per day, based on how the narrator feels)3. “Wave your torch at him you ninny”4. “You take care of this Johnny”5. Go back inside6. Attack child (why would you do this?)7. Other?
Alright boys, never done one of these before but have been itching to try this shit, I have some basic story plans all lined up and I'm gonna make sure I don't fucking botch the next's posts spacing too bad.
>>2369189>3. “Wave your torch at him you ninny”
>>2369195Composing himself, Henry cups his hands around his mouth and yells as loud as he can at the boy. “WAVE YER TORCH AT IT YOU NINNY!”The Child spins around in fear wondering what awful creature made such noise, before being presented with a man clad in a red cloak, and work boots, and a skeleton. Shrieking more than before, the child waves his arms about before tripping over his own legs, then falling to the stone floor in a heap, luckily avoiding the running sewer water from the prior day’s rainstorm. The commotion, the loud screaming, the new people, and the torch convince the rat that it can probably find other children to scare more easily, and so it takes off in the opposite direction. Henry laughs as he watches the comedy routine unfold. “You should be a bit nicer to the child” Johnny interjects, earning him a scowl from Henry.“Fine bud, lets figure out where the brat came from, but give me the damn torch and wait inside, I think you spooked him half to death.” Henry proceeded out of the doorway, into the tunnel, and kneeled down before the terrified child. 1. “WAKEY WAKEY”2. “The rats gone kid, yer safe now”3. “Come on bud, up and at em”
>>2369195welcome to the thread friend, I'll start the post up every few minutes if yer the only one here, if more show up I'll take it to a vote and announce the winner before posting
>>2369206> Alright, this is taking a bit, gonna make an ol' executive decision hereGrowing impatient with the boy’s repeated sobbing, begging for his mommy, and demanding his servant to attend to him, Henry begins shaking him vigorously. “WAKEY WAKEY GOD DAMN IT”The boy startles awake and begins to scream again before Henry clasps a hand to his mouth. “NO MORE FUCKING SCREAMING OKAY? Alright? Good?” A few nods of approval later, the boy is back on his feet and wiping the tears from his eyes. “Alright kids, my name is Henry, do you remember your name?” Henry wished this question could be a joke, he’s run into more than his share of people who’d have had their memories stolen over the years.“I-its Charlies sir” The child says, voice still quivering with fear.“Alright good, Charles, that’s great, you’re on your way to getting outta my hair but I got a few more questions to ask you.”Glancing back at the doorway, he notices Johnny clasping the archway in a death grip, the glow in his eyes even smaller pinpricks than usual. “Tosser” Henry murmured under his breath. “The bra… kid is fine, name’s Charles!” He shouted back at the doorway, now a good distance away due to the boys frantic run from the rodent of doom.“Actually, are you fine kid? You hurt at all?” Henry asks, checking the boy over for a moment, nothing looks broken or bleeding.“I-I think I’m fine sir” 1. How did you get down here?2. Where do you live?3. Are you okay? 4. “Do not call me “Sir” kid”
>>2369245>4. “Do not call me “Sir” kid”
>>2369250>Thanks anon for caring about the thread“Do not call me SIR, kid” Henry retorted cutting the kid off mid-sentence.“I uh… oh… alright… uh” The child replied.“Johnny, gonna take the kid topside and try to figure out where he came from, hopefully I can get him back to his parents before they freak out and go to the local parish.”A loud grunt was all Henry needed to hear, he couldn’t risk taking Johnny with him as Charles would likely die of fright, and the poor bugger would be useless to him as a Zombie, he didn’t know any sick fucks who would want a child zombie…. Anyway.Grabbing Charles by the shoulder, he began walking back towards the way he came in, hoping to retrace the poor kids steps before any unsavory characters or creatures took notice. It may be the holy city but these sewers weren’t patrolled nearly often enough.“I-I CAN’T GO SIR… I CAN’T GO BACK.” Charles screamed“WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT YELLING, INDOOR VOICE GOD DAMN IT” Henry screamed back, louder. Startling Charles again and shutting him up, thank god. “I-I have to get back to master Peter, he-he was escorting… I mean he’s my father” the child stammered. Henry wasn’t born yesterday; he could tell the child was lying, badly. Still, if it got the bugger outta his hands then all the better for it. The fact the child hadn’t questioned him about the walking skeleton with the glowing eyes was just a bonus. 1. “Alright, where is this Peterson fellow?”2. “Slow down kid, I ain’t going nowhere until you explain what the heck you are talking about, I’m not nearly as dumb as I look”3. “What do you think Johnny?” 4. “Why can’t you go back?”
>>2369271 “What do you think Johnny”“What do you think Johnny?” Henry asked, not really wanting to do this. He didn’t ask to have a dumb kid dumped in his lap, and now he’d have to get the kid back somewhere or other, and he wasn’t even getting paid for it. Poking his head out from around the archway corner, “Well it’s your duty as an upstanding citizen of this fine city to help this poor child find his family, obviously” Johnny stated matter of factly.A few thoughts raced through Henry’s head, first and foremost was that Johnny should fuck right off, why the fuck did he show himself to the child, why did he keep forgetting he was undead, and lastly, his ears were about to start bleeding.Wincing in preparation for the infernal screaming, he turned around after a moment to watch Charles, wide eyed, with both his hands over his mouth. Thank god. “I… uh, its fine kid, he’s uh… with me…” Henry stammered out, losing control of this situation, while wanting to throw himself into the sewer water and drown. Charles began to hyperventilate before a swift knock to the head from Henry set him straight.“Look kid, yeah I’m a necromancer, and yeah I’m not a very nice person, but I’m not enough of a bastard to just leave a kid alone in this sewer, alright. I’m gonna get you back to your family or whatever, but can you promise to not tell the church, or the city watch I’m down here. I really don’t want to get hanged…” He briefly considered scorching the child with a bolt of lightning, but it just wasn’t in him, he wasn’t nearly heartless enough for that, and ol’ Johnny would probably walk out and quit on him, or at the very least not be fun to be around for a few months, not that he was fun to be around already.“I… sir please don’t kill me…” The boy finally muttered, eyes closed and legs trembling. “Kid, I’m not a nightmare demon who’s gonna steal yer soul, I’m just a necromancer. Yeah my jobs a bit dirty and I’ve done a few things I ain’t proud of, but I ain’t heartless alright?”That managed to elict a faint smile out of Charles, who finally got it through his thick skull he wasn’t in mortal danger.“So you should probably be off to find this Master Peter fellow, the poor boy should be reunited with his father.”Henry decided not to comment on how utterly gullible Johnny was. 1. Question the kid, for real this time2. Head off to where Charles says he got split up with PeterSECOND CHOICE, WOOO1. Bring Johnny2. Leave Johnny to guard your home
>>2369299>2. Head off to where Charles says he got split up with Peter2. Leave Johnny to guard your home
>>2369307Deciding that he didn’t really care about all the question and answer bullshit, it didn’t really concern him, Henry ran back into his workshop and home and grabbed a rough map of the sewer, a few magical crystals of varying purity, a much bigger shortsword to replace the dagger with, and some medical supplies, he always kept a bag in case he hurt himself while… working. “Alright Charles, I need you to work with me here, can you trace a path of where you ran from?”A few moments later, the route had been planned, thankfully it wasn’t far, he really didn’t want to walk too much. Even though his workboots were waterproof, they weren’t stinkproof. He knew how to clean the smell of corpses off of him but sewer shit was another matter.Deciding that it was a better idea to leave his house protected, and that they probably wouldn’t need Johnny to back them up, Henry simple stated “wait here and hold down the fort you bag of bones.”“As you wish … sir” the skeleton smugly responded. Infuriating Henry something fierce. As he stomped off the child hurriedly followed, not wanting to be left behind in this scary place.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Arriving at a large done like structure in the sewers, where water poured from multiple angles into multiple connecting tunnels Henry stopped to once more check the map. This was the place. He noticed several more dog sized rats running around, fuckers were big but dumb and harmless, he’d heard stories about druids commanding swarms of em but tall tales were dime a dozen. What was a lot less silly was the large pool of blood towards the right end of the chamber, trailing away into a side tunnel. “Fuck, I think we have a problem kid” Henry whispered, suddenly becoming worried. A few rats here and there was one thing, but that much blood meant someone had bit the big one. He didn’t need to have worked with corpses for a decade and a half to know that. “Master Peter…” The child said, a sob stopping in his throat. 1. Follow the trail of blood and try to find the corpse 2. Head back, (roll D100 to convince the kid, 40 or higher needed)3. Other?Optional choice1. Kick rats in frustration
>>23693321. Follow the trail of blood and try to find the corpse May as well follow this through.
>>2369340Wishing he’d brought some scotch along for the road, Henry began to embark down the trail smeared with blood. This had to be one of the dumbest things he’d done this week. He grabbed a purple crystal out of his bag, bit a piece off and threw the rest into his torch, making it glow a deep purple, he handed a smaller piece to the child. “Kill yer torch and chew on this for a bit, it’ll make the torch invisible to anything that hasn’t gotten the right crystal. It’ll keep us safeish.” For his credit, the child did as he was told, and placed both hands back over his mouth to stifle screams. The kid wasn’t half bad now Henry thought. After a few minutes, a faint nibbling sound was heard, interrupted at points with loud crunching. Crossing undead off his list of possible perps, Henry quietly ventured forward, motioning the kid to stay still, which he did, thank god. Peeking around the bend, Henry gazed upon something “horrifying”, a horse sized rat holding the arm of a deceased man and nibbling on it. In all honesty, this thing was a fluffy puppy compared to some of the other things lurking down here. Of equal note was the corpse on the ground, with several pieces of plate mail and several arrows in his back. This changed things quite a bit, but meant that the rat probably had just finished the man off, and hadn’t chewed straight through plate armor, probably. You hear a small gasp behind you as the kid pokes his head around the corner, at least now you won’t need to explain this to him. 1. Attack the rat with your short sword, attempt to aim at face (roll 3 d100, 60 or higher needed for damage, health of rat will not be revealed)2. Attack with lightning (Instakill, need to roll a 25 or higher, will leave 2 charges left for today)3. Try to grab valuables off the body, thing is probably more scared of a scary man with a sword than you are of it… right? (this is a bad idea lmao)4. Run away (no need to convince Charles now)
>>2369332Optional choice1. Kick rats in frustrationI'll do you one better. Kill some rats and make undead thrall out of em.
>>2369372too late my dude
Rolled 19 (1d100)>>23693642. Attack with lightning (Instakill, need to roll a 25 or higher, will leave 2 charges left for today)Hahaha, expecting someone on qst to roll over a 60?
Rolled 87, 63, 21 = 171 (3d100)>>23693642. Attack with lightning (Instakill, need to roll a 25 or higher, will leave 2 charges left for today)Roll like this?
>>2369375well fuck, gonna give it a few minutes to see if the new guy makes a roll, or whatever, right now the blow will hit the rat and hurt it but not kill it. The next roll will be averaged
>>2369375>>2369382> Alright boys, rats dead, combined average is > 53, the way lightning works is you get ONE >roll, unlike melee, and only the first two rolls >by anons count, which are then averaged up.“Fuck it”Henry summoned a bolt of lightning from his hand, hitting the rat on the right of its torso, bolts arcing between it and the water for a moment before leaving a sizzling char broiled rat. It actually didn’t smell half bad now.“A-angels protect us” Charlie stammered, before wretching into the running sewer water, making it smell a heck of a lot better than it had before.Running over to the bodies, Henry felt for a pulse, why not, weirder shit had happened, and upon not feeling anything, set about looting the corpse in full view of a shocked Charles. “Look Charles, your “father” is dead, but lets be honest, I never fell for that in the first place, and now that I have this” He said, holding up a letter with a fancy emblem stamped onto it, “I think I can get to the bottom of things. Henry also took the time to swipe a bag containing a bunch of coins which was nice, and a REALLY fancy pen, which was excellent. Charles stopped for a moment before grinning “a sewer man like you can’t possibly know how to read..”“Please transport our dear Charles to Yorkshire post haste, further details will be revealed by … Baron… northcrest…”Charles couldn’t believe it for a moment, how this sewer man could read. Henry couldn’t believe it either, the Northcrests were really in good with the crown, who the fuck was this kid, and how much money would he be making by delivering him safely? He wasn’t sure whether or not he wanted to mess with a noble or even god forbid a royal. Was this shit really happening? 1. “Alright kid, whats the truth” You ain’t fooling anyone here2. “So why the fuck did you lie to me?”3. “Lets get back home before more shit shows up, then I’m gonna yell at you”4. Other?OPTIONAL 1. Grab a few cuts of the roasted rat for later, will save you some coin and a trip to the market, thing looks pretty well cooked, and its far too roasted to be of any other use. 2. Try to search the man for more stuff, though this will probably upset poor Charles. 3. Other?

>>23694051. “Alright kid, whats the truth” You ain’t fooling anyone herethen3. “Lets get back home before more shit shows up, then I’m gonna yell at you”Then all this1. Try to search the man for more stuff, though this will probably upset poor Charles. Can we make the dead guy into another skeleton or Dreadknught? Johnny could use another friend.
>>2369405Oh an also be slightly offended at the sewer dweller comment. You don't become a necromancer if your a "sewer man."Say. If we do the job do we get the money?
>>2369411>>2369412alright so option 1 has won, gonna go for the rat but not the man, he can always send Johnny back for him later, a corpse with training is actually a rarity and valuable in the circles Henry runs in.>>2369412Heres the deal friendo, we ain't becoming a lich or a necromancer lord, He does this shit for a living, not because he likes it. >>2369416noted on the sewer dweller thing, and as for money, its a strong maybe right now.
>>2369405“Alright kid, enough bullshit, what’s the truth, plain and simple, tell me everything you know, who the fuck that person there was, and why the hell are you taking the sewers if yer royalty or whatever? You’re obviously someone important.”“I uh… can I please not Henry.. I uh… Mother said I would be in a lot of trouble if I uh… shared”Henry rubbed his aching head with two fingers before glaring at Charles with real intensity. “I… fine, Mother said there was trouble and that I would leave the palace in secret with Combat Master Peter. I don’t know anything else Henry I promise, I’m sorry.” “Thank you kid… Charles. Thanks, that actually helps quite a bit.” This was a real shit show now. Combat masters were highly trained and competent warriors, and this one had several arrows in his back that Henry was beginning to suspect were poisoned, to be able to actually land a hit, not to mention several on one of these guys was something else. The average sewer dweller couldn’t tell which end of a blade to point at people most times, so it had to have been someone or a group of someone’s well trained, which probably meant vampires or assassins, or maybe both. But Vampires killed a known member of the royal guard like this? This was serious and Henry really didn’t want a part of it. But the allure of a possible reward from Northcrest, who was rumored to be a rather generous fellow, won out in the end. “Alright kid, look” Henry started, beginning to take chunks off of the rat and placing them into his backpack to be salted later. “We’re gonna head back to my place and figure this out, cause right now there are some things we need to think about if what your saying is true.“It is Sir I promise!... I mean Henry” Charles stammered.(part 1 of 2)
>>2369431On the way back, Henry got to thinking, the royalty had any number of enemies sure, but to be able to cause the royal family to act in such a manner, one of their children through the sewers with only a single escort… unless there had been others of course, which made things more unnerving. What faction could possible operate with such impunity in the holy city? The vampires might but they would be utterly annihilated in a counter attack. So probably not. Werewolfs? Doubtful, fuckers hated cities, and Peter would have been shreds. It wasn’t bandits. Gheists maybe? Never heard of em using actual arrows before. What happened to the blokes sword, did I forget to grab the thing? Before he could thing further he arrived at the aquafer he called home, and strode inside. Sighing as Charles gasped at the neat row of corpses hanging up ready to be prepared into zombies and maybe a ghoul or two if he had a particularly wealthy client stop by. “Welcome back… sir” Johnny said, “How was the walk?”Henry really wished he could choke that skeleton1. Explain the situation to Johnny, see what he thinks2. Leave the boy with Johnny, head to Undertown for information3. Other?(part 2 of 2)
>>23694331. Explain the situation to Johnny, see what he thinksShit is wack Johnny.
>>2369433alright boys, time to come clean, this is gonna be much more of a detective drama than a fantasy romp, but the gothic theming is gonna be ever present

>>2369449I can dig not being a lich, but having more undead bros can't hurt, especially when people don't like your kind of career.I wonder how the combat master would feel about being undead.
>>2369433Holding back his urge to murder violently, Henry began explaining the situation“That was foolish to charge in without coming to me for help.” “Oh dear that is rather awful, I’m sorry to hear your father so violently met his death young lad.”“oh” Finishing up, Henry snickered at the old bumbling fool after revealing the VERY obvious lie to him, the old bastard really was an idiot.“Look I need your advice Johnny” Henry said, sweeping him to the side, leaving Charles to gawk at the hung and preserved corpses stinking of formaldehyde. “This is some really serious shit, but there is also some really serious coin in it, I want your advice, do I cut the kid loose or do I try to get the reward.”“You need to do the right thing, reunite this young lord to his dear uncle, as is your sworn duty as a citizen of this fine country!”“Thanks… bud.” Henry said, sighing. The skeleton was a fine warrior and a decent assistant, but was a really annoying one. The only other service the thing provided was ironically enough a moral compass, he was right, Henry decided. He couldn’t just leave the kid to dry, especially since he didn’t have the full picture. He needed to head to undertown. (next part incoming in a bit)
>necromancy: the supposed practice of communicating with the dead, especially in order to predict the future. The dead guy might know who attacked them. Sorry if I sound like a broken record.
>>2369458“Look, I need you to look over the ki… Charles here and make sure he doesn’t poke anything or stab himself or whatever.” Henry said, resigning himself to this awful fate.“It will be my honor my lord.” Johnny stated, bowing deeply before returning to his work. “He’s really well-mannered for being a horrible undead thing” Charles stated, utterly killing the mood.“My young lord seems to have neglected HIS teachings on manners” the skeleton said, still cheery. Catching Charles off guard.“Just… look, just keep the place clean and not robbed while I’m gone, I’m heading to ol’ nessies down in undertown for some info. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++After a thirty minute journey down a winding series of tunnels, basins, pipes, and other sewery things, Henry arrived at Undertown, a massive cavern with a lake filled by flowing waterfalls of sewage delivered by pipes in the walls, at the center of the lake marked the closest thing one could reasonably call civilization down here, undertown. Filled with all sorts of shady types, Henry fit right in. The buildings were surprisingly well-built considering the location, tin, wooden, and even some copper roofs matched with stone and timber constructions, with some plaster walls thrown in for good measure. It was rough, messy, and disorganized, but it was the closest thing to a hometown he’d ever had. Crossing the bridge, and grudgingly tipping the gatekeeper a few copper coins, Henry entered Undertown and strolled into a bar marked “Nessie Nine Tails” His favored hangout whenever he needed a pint of liquor, and didn’t want to think about where it came from. The interior of the bar was decked with all sorts of pictures and curios, some dangerously magical and some dangerously boring. Nessie, a rather rotund women with an eyepatch and a happy expression tended to the bar. A couple of pale skinned sons of bitch vampires were sitting at one of the tables, managing to somehow be annoyingly fancy in this of all places. One winked at Henry to which Henry flipped him off, causing snickering from the two of them. Fucking Vampires. He noticed a few other familiar faces, a few said hellos and what not which was returned in kind, it felt good to fit in. One of the few places Henry could do so. 1. Ask for information2. Fuck that, be polite and buy something to drink from the lovely lady (get creative with drink names if ya want, I’ll pick my fave.)3. How’ve ya been lass?>>2369460Necromancy works kinda different in this world, unless you sell your soul or some other stupid shit it ain't that overpowered. There is also upkeep on undead creatures to keep in mind, an average necromancer can only have so many servants at once, not to mention that most bodies are burned if possible and the bones crushed, making necromancy harder to practice. (this only really happens in large cities, i'll explain why later)
>>2369464>2. Fuck that, be polite and buy something to drink from the lovely lady (get creative with drink names if ya want, I’ll pick my fave.)We got some extra coin. Order a Skipping Skiver and ask how she's been.

>>2369473>>2369478Deciding that just up and asking for info straight away was not only impolite, but also suspicious, even for himself, ordered a drink.“I’ll have a Skipping Skiver today Nessie” Henry stated plainly, he needed a drink after the shitshow today had been. “Hope it won’t knock yeh off ye feet” Nessie replied, before beginning to get the drink together, then stopping. “You know the drill.”Henry sighed, then slid a few coins her way, it was understandable that she didn’t allow bar tabs, but equally as annoying. “So how’ve ya been Nessie, business good?”“Bout the same as it always is, especially considering the circumstances, I guess you haven’t heard the big news yet?” “What, did one of the mob bosses start up a war again or something?”“HA, no no, that’d be no big deal, this is far more serious” She said, grinning ear to ear. Henry gulped a bit, she only did that if the news was REALLY bad. Passing the finished drink to Henry, she leaned back, before announcing with a flourish.“The whole royal family got deadened by the Chruch of the Holy See!” Before Henry could fully process this she went on “They went and killed the whole royal family deadsie, the children too, they went after any noble they could find evens.” Fuck fuck, and fuck. “Apparently they didn’t like the royal families policy of turning a blind eye to some of our supernatural inhabitants or demonic issues in the northern reach, like they can actually do a better job, Ha.” Henry decided now was a good time to get drunk, and downed the drink in one go.“I see you’re spookedies ain’t cha” Nessie said, drawing some laughs from other bargoers. “Man with your trade is right to be spooked by these turn of events eh?” If only she knew. 1. >>2369485“They got the ENTIRE royal family in one go?” You said, fighting down the growing pit in your stomach. “Yeppers, never really cared for em, but this is a bit much I’ll admit” Nessie said with her usual lackadaisical attitude. “They got em all, King Roberts, his wife Victoria, and their three children, Regibald, Renea, and even poor young Charles, strung em all up in central square before throwing them in a vat of molten holy silver I hear.” “Good lord…” Henry started, “Least they had the decency to kill em before the silver bit.” This left a few questions however, and a couple possible answers. If Charles was supposedly dead, who the fuck was this kid then? Was he Charles, and the dead boy was a fake? Or vice versa? His gut said it was the first option. Which was a spot of good news, the church would never admit openly they’d gotten the wrong kid, and with the body destroyed no one would ever know. He’d be able to sneak out of the city easily enough, unless it was a trap and that’s what the church would want him to think… He really didn’t know what to do here, he’d have to make a judgement call at some point. A thought he dreaded. “This whole talk’s ruined my thirst” Henry said, getting up from the bar, he chatted things up with a few other people, catching up on local goings on, but nothing really stood out, he had a real emergency on his hands. If the church caught him, they’d double kill him, one for hiding the royal HEIR, and two for being a necromancer. Fate really was a fat drunk bitch.(Next part inbound)
>>2369501Well for one they suck people's blood and kill them, they lord over everybody else, and they're a bunch of assholes generally. Though they can be decent customers to henry, and decent suppliers, he hates working with em.
>>2369502Rushing back home, Henry had to retrace his steps after turning the wrong way a few times in panic. Luckily nothing impeded his progress, nasty things didn’t usually lurk this close to town. As he got back, he burst into to see Charles on HIS bed being read a story by Johnny. God fucking damn it. “JOHNNY, TROUBLE” Henry shouted, barely controlled panic in his voice. “Quiet down or you’ll wake the young lord up.” Johnny replied, a tinge of annoyance. “Who died now?”“The entire royal family you fuckwit” Henry replied, whispering loudly now. “The church fucking killed the whole royal family, and shit is fucked!” Henry said, before placing his face in his hands and taking a seat at his desk.1. “We gotta dump the kid” (Roll 80 or higher to convince Johnny) 2. “We gotta get a plan together and get outta town with him asap.”3. “We need to be careful, and plan this shit out, I think we will have some time”

On the other hand, even if they do, we have the advantage because there's no way they could possibly predict Charles falling in with a looney sewer necromancer and his skeleton bro. We should get him out quickly before anyone can start to be suspicious of us and the kid who's suddenly tagging along.
>>2369515Think we can disguise Johnny?
>>2369515>>2369513gonna be the tie breaker here then, due to time constraints, gonna go with 2.
>>2369516Absolutely, there's gotta be all sorts of rags, not to mention filth, that we can clothe and cover him in. He'll look like any other sewer urchin. Hopefully he doesn't have any tattoo or birthmark that might give him away.
“We need to get outta town” Henry said, “Now”“Are you sure that’s wise Henry?” Johnny muttered, “The kid is about to find out his entire family” “I’ve lived through worse and you fucking know it” Henry retorted “The longer we stay in one place the more people will noticed, I don’t exactly have anywhere to hide him in here, and some kid who sticks with the local necromancer is gonna raise TONS of questions, the type of questions I don’t want to hear the answer to. Yes we probably could stick around a bit, but that’s just suicidal based on what’s going on topside. I’m know a guy, a smuggler who can get us outta town and to Yorkshire, question is, do you think what’s happened tonight happened there too?” Henry said.“Likely no, Yorkshire has long been a thorn in the Chruch’s side, that province has never accepted Churches into its towns and main city, likely why the poor child’s parents…” Johnny said, a bit of sadness in his voice, a thing Henry hadn’t heard in at least a decade.“I understand that, it ain’t even about the gold anymore, although that’ll be fantastic, it’s about survival now. All the stupid shit I get into…” He trailed off. “How are we gonna break it to..” Johnny began, before being cut off by sobbing. “Seems the kid wasn’t so asleep after all” Henry said, pinching his brow, now he had a kid living the worst day of his life. “Or perhaps it was all the yelling you are so oft to complain about” Johnny replied, a bit more smugly than Henry would have preferred. “We’ll settle this later… I need to get some supplies” Henry said, wanting to be away from this. “So you’re just going to leave him there without consoling him? You know his pain far better than I do.” The skeleton said, before grabbing a couple of bags and beginning preparations1. Leave for supplies, you’re horrible with kids2. Try to console the boy (think of some words to say, then roll for effectiveness, 1 roll allowed per anon, 45 or higher required, going above that will have increased effectiveness.) 3. Other? (if you want to be a bastard fuck you.)>>2369521pretty much, any flesh he had rotted away a LONG time ago, so he doesn't smell bad at all, well, besides the sewer smell
Rolled 2 (1d100)>>23695292. Your family would want you to live, that's why they sent you down here into the sewers. If you want to survive you need to stay strong and keep yourself together. >pretty much, any flesh he had rotted away a LONG time ago, so he doesn't smell bad at all, well, besides the sewer smellTotally misread what he asked, thought he was referring to the kiddo.
>>2369538Aaaaaaaaah!holy shit I'm bad at this.
>>2369538o...oh no, thats a crit fail bud, oh fuck Henry's gonna be a dick, stress is gettin to him
Rolled 32 (1d100)>>2369529>2. Try to console the boy (think of some words to say, then roll for effectiveness, 1 roll allowed per anon, 45 or higher required, going above that will have increased effectiveness.) Crap, how are you supposed to console a kid who lost his family?"Listen kid. I could have left the rats to you so you know I'm not a complete bastard, and I'm sure as shit not gonna let the church butc- get to you. I'll get you to Yorkshire one way or another, you got that kid?"
>>2369543Fuck! The odds!
>>2369542It's a critfail even though it's not a nat 1?
>>2369538>>2369543> combined roll of 18f-fuck, welp, renegade for life
Well fuck since we're gonna be a dick can we get The gear from the guard and sell it for supplies or pay off the smuggler?
Much as I would like to see how we crash and burn this child's hopes and dreams into an orphanage for disable kittens while simultaneously destroying the recently discovered cure for aids, I've gotta go to sleep.Been fun, QM.
>>2369529Henry has had a bad day, first off he stubbed his toe upon waking up, he spilled coffee on himself during breakfast, one of the corpses had come loose and spilled onto his scrolls, and then some fucking royal child had come screaming past his door, chased by a fucking dog rat, and it was only downhill from fucking there. He’d had enough. Marching over to the bed, he began to shake Charles. “STOP CRYING DAMN IT” He yelled. “WE’RE ALL HAVING A REALLY BAD DAY TODAY, CONSIDERING THE CHURCH IS GOING TO HANG US ALL AT FUCKING BEST IF THEY CATCH US, I HAVE TO SKIP TOWN FOR A BIT AT THE VERY LEAST NOW THAT WE’RE ASSOCIATED…”“HENRY STOP” Johnny bellowed, losing his cool for a moment as well“NO FUCK YOU, YOU OVERSIZED PIECE OF CALCIUM. I’VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR SNARK, ENOUGH OF YOUR BULLSHIT, AND ENOUGH OF YOUR ATTITUDE TODAY, WHAT THE FUCK MAN, YEARS AND YEARS OF THIS SHIT BUILDS UP, AND I TRY TO KEEP IT IN CHECK, BUT NOOOOO, BECAUSE SOMEONES A BIT GRUMPY THAT THEY FUCKED UP AS A PALADIN AND COULDN’T DO JACK ALL, HE HAS TO MAKE MY LIFE MISERABLE. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE THE WORST THING I’VE EVER WON FROM A GAME OF CARDS, GOOD LORD MAYBE GRIMMY RIGGED IT SO HE’D LOSE!”Henry felt a skeletal hand knock into his face, dealing little damage but stopping him from yelling. “I… I’m sorry Johnny” Henry said, before sitting down, he hadn’t realized he’d gotten up. Several pieces of furniture were flipped over and random bits of junk strewn about, Charles had stopped sobbing amd was staring at Henry with genuine fear. Fuck“Its alright mate” Johnny said, “I’m sorry for being a piece of garbage lately… always” Well at least that friendship hadn’t been fucked up. Even if it was more like indentured servitutde. 1. Try to say something to Charles2. Just leave, you’ve done enough damage already3. Go pound your head into your desk until the pain stopsI don't like punishing players for bad rolls, so enjoy an amazing rant from a day of stress, and maybe you can go double or nothing?
>>2369552for option one, forgot to say you should make a roll, not gonna reveal fail numbers but try not to get a fucking 2 this time
>>2369548completely forgot about him actually
>>23695524. Go hug Johnny
>>2369557fucking roll for it, cause that could backfire so fucking easily. I'll add some plot shit to make it work if the roll is good.
Rolled 47 (1d100)>>2369560Roll to hug dead dude bro who didn't deserve that but knowing Henry....
>>2369560Oh god what was the threshold
>>2369552>>2369563Realizing that trying to console the kid now was probably a lost cause, you decide to fully patch things up with Johnny. “Come ere ya fucker” Henry said, hugging Johnny, “Alright now let’s go figure out what to do… and can you figure out how to unfuck this whole Charles thing, you uh… have a much better way with words than I do… and are usually calmer” “I think I can manage that, maybe go outside to get some air yeah?” Johnny said, moving over to a shellshocked Charles. “The dear master can be… excitable, but he means well I assure you, he’s had a rough day although its no comparison to yours young lord.”“They’re not really all… dead, are they…” Charles said, tears flowing like rain now. Henry stepped out, he needed to go topside for a few things anyhow, and maybe he’d be able to make it up to the poor kid at a later date. He thought back to his own family for a bit before stopping himself, no need to bring up bad memories now. “I’m afraid so Charles, I wish I could say otherwise..” the floodgates opened, Johnny grabbed a pillow and laid it upon his spine, Charles started sobbing into it until he was a tad calmer. “I just… I only got to say goodbye to my brother Regibald, and now they’re all… and all the servants too…” Charles said, “I… why did the church do this… the Host of Angels would never allow…”“I want to bury Peter… its… it’s the least I can do for him, can you help me?” Charles asked, begged really.“It would be my honor sir.” Johnny replied. “Let me grab a shovel, I know a place where the stone of the sewers is weak, while I wish we could do it in a nicer locale, with blessed soil, this will have to do I’m afraid.”++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Henry headed topside, he had to contact his smuggler friend, and maybe stop by a few other places to gather intel, as he exited the sewer in a backalley, he took note of the sun, it was about noon now, it hadn’t been night time at all. Or maybe he had just stayed awake through everything, hard to tell sometimes. ============================= END OF CHAPTER =========================
