But they did their jobs at least. You ended up waking up in Griselda’s office, having used the cot she keeps there. Denise slumbers quietly in Griselda’s chair at her desk, having stayed the entire night with you so you wouldn’t be lonely. You sigh, sitting up and rubbing your eyes. It’s been so inconsistent lately as to where you’ll sleep for the night. You can’t remember the last time you slept in the same place for more than a week. You shrug, frowning a little. Denise looks up, rubbing her eyes and yawning. “Oh, Ellie. You’re awake.” How did she know?! “Want me to get some coffee going?” She throws her arms up, stretching.“Sure, sure.” You yawn, throwing your blanket off. And in just a minute, Denise is already there with some coffee. “Thanks.” You take a sip. “Anything important today going on?”Denise says, “Well, nothing important unless you want to make it important.” You roll your eyes. “No. I checked the Officer’s logs, they have people getting those strikers’ pets aboard and everything. It should all be settled in the next couple of days.” That’s good, hands free management.> Take a vacation day. The Captain gave you one, may as well.> Head to work anyway. You decided to take a walk around with Denise in the loading dock areas. Things were going well today thanks to your efforts in stopping the strike.Though… You see Claudia St. Simon again with her merry band of girls handing out flyers. Instead of working. You walk up to them. “Claudia.” She looks over and smiles happily. One of the girls is holding a blank red flag as well. What’s this then? “What’s going on here?”“Oh, Elodie, good to see you!” Claudia hands you a flyer. “Here, take a flyer!” You take a look at it then quirk your brow.GIRLS OF NAVAL STUDIESTHE LIFEBLOOD OF THE ACADEMYSHIP FLOWS THROUGH YOUR VEINSTHE IDLING CLASS OF GENERAL STUDIES DOES NOT RECOGNIZE YOUR EFFORTSBAND TOGETHER AND SHOW THEM THE TRUE POWER OF THE WORKING CLASS STUDENTSJOIN THE WORKER’S SOCIETY!You squint at it. “We’re just recruiting for a club!” says Claudia. “Don’t worry, I already have permission to peacefully hand out flyers for the beginning of this shift and to raise awareness of our cause!” She snaps her fingers. “Marie. Explain to the Commander.”Marie steps up, brushing her blue streak of hair out of her eyes as she opens up a red book to read from. “The Worker’s Society’s goal is the empowerment of the working class Naval Studies students who are often overlooked in the societal operations of the Academyship. To advance this goal, we advocate strongly for the equal treatment of all students regardless of their role aboard this Academyship, which includes but is not limited to fair and equal treatment in the academic and practical trades that we are educated.” She shuts the book, smiling.…“So you’re socialists,” you say.Claudia waves that off. “We prefer the term ‘freedom fighters’. Claudia shrugs.Claudia says, “Alright, girls. Let’s go.” They pack their flyers and flag and start walking away. Oh God, those are probably going to be a big headache later. Claudia looks back. “This isn’t over though, Elodie!” Claudia turns around. “One day the Naval Studies crew will get their due and receive a voice on this Academyship equivalent to their presence!” Marie and another girl take Claudia’s arms and start dragging her away. “And if that doesn’t happen here, it’ll happen on another Academyship! But they’ll become corrupt and extreme! And then the Chinese will take over the world!”Denise snorts. “Ha. The Chinese taking over the world. The Chinese couldn’t take over Taiwan.”You roll your eyes. “Denise. Tessa stands by her desk, idly. “So Fina, why is it exactly that you don’t like being around the other Hall Monitors?” asks Athena.Fina shrugs, shyly looking away. “It’s just my accent as all.”Hilda tilts her head. “Accent?”“Ooooh.” Athena leans over to Hilda. “Fina’s actually English, not Irish.”“I’m from the bloody fucking Cotswolds!” Fina yells. “All the other Hall Monitors give me the meanest shit for being English, those bogtrotting hicks!” She folds her arms, grumbling angrily. “They should hear themselves speak! And their football team sucks too! Bloody fucking cunts!” Athena and Hilda scoot back a little.Tessa smiles at you. “There are you, Ellie. Can I talk to you for a second?” You nod, motioning outside. Denise steps in, content to let you two talk in private in the hall. You shut the door. “It’s nothing regarding work or anything. I just wanted to talk as all.”“What about?” you ask.“It’s about Griselda.” Tessa adjusts her sleeve a little, almost nervously. “I heard she went off to meet with the Commissioner.” You nod. “You know why, right?”“What? No.” You squint. “Why?” Tessa blinks, clearly not expecting. “Did something happen?”“Oh, noooooo…” Tessa looks away, her eyes blankly staring past you. You have an inkling that Tessa is blind but even her eyes are giving away something. “I just wanted to ask if you knew how she was doing. She’s been radio silent for a while now.” She leans in close, smirking nervously. “I bet she got a girlfriend or something. Or even a boyfriend! I figured Griselda would’ve told you.” You tilt your head, confused. She leans in close, whispering to you. “Griselda heard rumors that the Commissioner might disqualify the team anyway.” What. What!? “Oleg is a well-known mover of illegal parts. Commissioner Durocher knows him quite well. And your performance in the tournament-““Let me guess, we were performing too well for people?” you say. “That doesn’t make sense. We beat them fair and square! They just checked our tanks and almost lost us a match set because of that! They cleared us and they still think we’re cheating somehow!? That’s not fair!”“That’s the way it is,” says Tessa. “A lot of people saw this team being dead last. And suddenly out of nowhere you’re in first place beating out all the big champs and everything. It’s upsetting a natural order in things you could say. Big schools win the tournaments, small schools fill space. That’s usually how it is.”“Well not anymore,” you say. “Ooarai certainly proved that a long while ago. You honestly believe there’s people out there that see us and think we’re cheating to get where we’re at?”“I don’t believe it, I know it,” Tessa says bluntly. “I’m sorry. But Tankery is… it’s a sport built on tradition. And people don’t like having traditions be changed.” She sighs. “I shouldn’t have told you this, I’m so sorry. That’s wonderful! “I think today is the day.”“The day being?”“The day I ask her to play catch with me,” says Ingrid. You blink. Oh. You were thinking something more dramatic than that. “We haven’t played catch in a while. And there you find Miss Berra at her computer again, typing stuff down in an indistinct fashion. It’s probably coding from what you gather. “Mom!”Miss Berra grunts, not even looking from the screen. “What’s up, hon?”Ingrid picks up a spare baseball glove and smiles, walking up next to her. “How about we play a game of catch, before it gets dark out?”“Kind of busy, hon.” Miss Berra motions to the screen. “I’m trying to put together this spreadsheet by the end of the week, I’d like as much time to work on it now rather than later.” Ingrid seems to deflate a little.“Come on, Mom. We can try out different pitching styles we’ve seen. I really like MadBum’s style. I know I’m not a lefty but you know.”Miss Berra responds with, “I’d really rather not waste my time right now, Ingrid.” Ingrid frowns a little. “Besides, I thought you still had that Tankery stuff. Miss Berra responds with tossing the back into Ingrid’s. A little back and forth as they start getting some distance. You and Denise watch from a safe distance, one because you don’t want to just interfere with Ingrid and her Mom’s affairs. And two because getting hit by a baseball you recall is like getting punched.…The two idly, almost awkwardly toss the ball to each other. Ingrid speaks up. “So how’s work going?”“Fine,” says Miss Berra. “How’s school?”“It’s okay,” says Ingrid.“And that Tankery business?” Miss Berra lightly underhands the ball to Ingrid. You nod. “Alrighty!” She starts up the Kettenkrad. You have to wonder now what Ingrid and Miss Berra are talking about now. Are they making up? Is their relationship getting even more divided? It seemed like they were at least talking to each other as individuals. You lean back, thinking on it.……You and Denise end up at a diner. Denise munches down hard on a big burger while you idly eat some fries. There you receive a call from Ingrid. You pick up. “Hello, Ingrid?”“Hey, Ellie. It’s Ingrid.”“How’d things go with your Mom?”“Oh it’s…” You frown a little. Denise notices this, looking at you as she bites down again. “We had a chat when you left. Talked about what I wanted to do, what I wanted to accomplish, what my goals were in life, you know?” You nod. Of course, of course. “Say, Ellie. Can I ask you a question?”“Go ahead.”“You know, I really love Tankery, I do. It’s been a great experience with you guys. But my Mom told me that if I really wanted to, I can really set myself down and get to work on getting a job at baseball. Not playing it, but behind the scenes. I can meet players, help them figure out their batting and pitching and stuff. I might even end up as a coach if I play my cards right.” You nod slowly at that. “Of course, my Mom’s name is going to help but it’s not going to get me anywhere if I don’t put my mind to it I just…”“You want my advice?”“No, your opinion. I mean, what do you think?”> “Baseball’s your livelihood, I won’t stop you there.”> “I think Tankery could be your best bet.”> “There’s no reason you can’t do both.”> Other

I’d hate to lose you from the crew though anyway.”“Oh, no. I’m not leaving Tankery, not for a while I don’t think. But… Yeah. Yeah, you’re right.”“Why do you ask?”“Well, the talk I had with my Mom just got me thinking.” There’s a slight pause over the phone. “You know, it’s been years since Mom and I talked like that. What did you say to her to make her come out to play catch?”“Well. I just said that you were afraid to lose her as all. The two of you still love each other, yeah?”“Yeah.” She snickers a little. “Heh… Ellie. Listen. Thanks, okay?”“For what?”“For giving me my Mom. Mom wants to play some more catch tomorrow. Planning on getting her a catcher’s mask this time.” You smile, leaning on your arm. “You’re free to join us. Of course, it’ll probably be after practice anyway but… if you got time I guess.”“Yeah, yeah. We’ll see, Ingrid.”“Thanks, Ellie. You’re the best. I’ll let you go.”> LOYALTY QUEST COMPLETE: For Love of the Game> You’ve helped Ingrid reconnect with her Mother and reignite her dreams of getting into the world of professional baseball. In return, she now has the ability to MARK TARGET. At the cost of – 30 CP, she can mark a single tank to be targeted, allowing you to track it even you lose visual contact. You’re an Officer. “I mean, when was the last time you ever got someone to help you with one of your big problems?” You-… You squint. “Your big personal problems?”…“Well, that just means I don’t need outside help for my personal stuff,” you say. Denise giggles a little. “Besides, Denise. Sometimes people need help seeing things inside of themselves. You can look in the mirror all you want but there’s some things about people that only others can see.” You point to her. “I’m sure you know that.”“That’s deep.” Denise smiles again, biting down on her burger. “But I consider myself a real simple gal. All I need in life is a good burger, the WVU team to win their games, and good friends.”You can’t help but smile at that. Can’t argue with that.

>>2361264Good stuff boss
>>2361264Thanks for running. If you make the MC of Confederate Joan of Arc or whatever you're calling it anything but flat I'm going to hunt you down and fill you with silicon until you explode.
>>2361264Thanks for running Schteel, catch you next time.
>>2361281if the confederates had a titty monstered joan of arc they would've won the war because the union would never dare despoil those bountiful breasts with musket bulletsseriously those minie balls were huge, we think of full power rounds today like 7.62x51 or .30-06 or higher but back then they were basically shooting low velocity .50s at each other.anyway i guess flat is justice
>>2361289>low velocity .50sThey're mostly closer to .600's, and the Model 1847 is more like a .700Muskets are ridiculous.
>>2361305The Minie ball ones got smaller though, Enfield 1853 was a .577 calibre weapon and the Springfield 1861 was around the same.
>>2361305>>2361309They were also rifled by the time of the American Civil War. Though considering muskets were single shot weapons, I can understand needing a huge projectile for lethality's sake.Repeating firearms at the time though were smaller. The Henry Rifle for instance was a .44 rimfire and the Spencer Carbine I think a .56. (Fun fact, the Henry Rifle was used quite often by Union soldiers who paid for them with their own money. Confederates couldn't quite make use of them because they couldn't replace spent ammunition.)
>>2361312The earlier Ferguson rifle was still a .615, compared to American long rifles which were usually in the .40 to .50 range. >>2361309.577 has a lot more in common with .600 than .50, .50 magnum might be a better comparison in the cartridge power, but just in terms of diameter it's closer to .600.
>>2361312Kuatcolle when? Please don’t say you dropped it.
>>2370276Unfortunately I have anon, I'm sorry to say.
