"ALL HAIL THE OVERLORD!" Shouted your endless sea of minions after you emerge from your dark spire. Soon they will march to war and all shall tremble before your terrible might! The battles were glorious. Even heroes were slaughtered before you. Your terrible reach eclipsed the whole world. Then it all came tumbling down. Not due to heroes who managed to vanquish the greatest of evils. Not due to the smiting of the gods themselves. Not even due to treachery within your own ranks.Oh no...the end came because your debts were called in. You had struck a deal. A terrible pact beyond imagination. Your wildest dreams coming true, ultimate power, and most forbidden of secret knowledge became known to you. All of it and more was yours when you struck that deal. You foolishly thought that with all your power. All the most forbidden knowledge and darkest secrets are known to you. With your terrible reach. You thought you could resist and not pay the price....but you were wrong.Terribly wrong.Just like that, everything was taken from you and more. You who had everything now had nothing.Sadly you were not the first nor were you ever going to be the last.New deals were struck. New people failed to resist the temptation. Thus replacements naturally arose and everybody forgot about you. You were just another tyrant who got struck down by his own arrogance and consumed by his own power. This is not that failure's story. This is a new story. >>2347647Sadly that doesn't stop idiots from trying. You would think they would of learned better by now, but alas. Now I can't help but wonder if this 'corruption by power' also affects the mind in terms of invoking stupidity. At least the corrupted Magi who delved too deeply into the madness invoking forbidden knowledge had a good excuse. What with the whole being insane. But everyone else? Either idiots or got their minds corrupted to the point of stupidity and or insanity. At least that's what I think. Though I don't believe the stories relating to using the power against the being who gave it to you and potentially usurping his position doesn't help.Personally, I blame the gods for that problem. They think 'hey if the gods can make that mistake why not those other beings too?' Its worth noting that such things have never ONCE succeeded against us.They think that fraction of the power that was bestowed upon them and they cannot even comprehend is enough to challenge their benefactors. Hah such terrible ideas and yet there is no short supply of people trying it out.>>2347786Ah yes, the magma ocean. >>2348853We'll have the heat to forge things, assuming no one else votes. One will a skull castle and some fire lizard to swim in the ocean. To that end I say grab some lesser demons to work in the heat. Once we have the Reds. We study what materials work well in the heat and hold their shape. Then we build up our image.
>>2348794>>2347786>>2348085Magma Ocean it is. On the plus side the odds of heroes making their way to your doorstep is most...unlikely. On the bottom side, you'll have jack shit for recruitment or trade outside of summoning reinforcements.Hope its worth it. Well come to think of it your mage you probably prefer to be left alone don't you? Well since that last bit of business is on the way we shall begin. No doubt you've heard of lairs and dungeons that adventurers love to pillage but here is how it really works. Once upon a time our mutual employers grew sick and tired of trying to find really rare items and a good base to build stuff in. They came up with a great idea.Took a lot of work. What with torturing spirits, trying to figure out a way to make it alive, and so on so forth. Eventually, things worked out. These 'dungeons' feed upon just about anything and can produce just about anything should they have the juice for it. From summoning creatures, conjuring materials from thin air, and even twisting the world itself to its will. One day they realized how good of an idea it would be to pass on such tools to assets such as yourself. Now for the important stuff how to use it.Firstly a dungeon must be fueled Overlord to be of much use. A starved dungeon can do jackshit. Fortunately, dungeons can feed on just about anything if your willing to see it go bye bye but it can also feed passively upon the local environment under its control.Secondly, every dungeon has a...store in a matter of speaking anyway. You can buy just about anything from it and it will be at your disposal. There are tricks to the store, however. Firstly the 'unlock' payment is high but without it, you cannot even buy it. Secondly the more you buy a specific thing the cheaper it will become.Thirdly, the dungeon can warp the environment itself to your will instantly but it will come at a cost. It's much cheaper to do it yourself and sell back the resulting 'useless' material back to the dungeon or save it if actually has some use. If the dungeon does it, however, it's instantaneous.Fourthly, minions within a dungeon with be 'marked' as friendlies and bonded to you to make it easier to command them even without knowing their tongue. Sadly it's weak unless you upgrade it. Hostiles naturally will also be marked out unless they are good at hiding. To point out the obvious Overlord it's worth upgrading those minion bonuses and enemy penalties. With enough well-spent upgrades even a cowardly Goblin can be brave and the best of thieves unable to hide.Fifthly every dungeon has a core. It's heart. Without it, you stop having said dungeon and with it, there are many things it can do. Wonderous things but never are they free. Every enemies objective is either to destroy it or enslave it to their own will. Now the last isn't very easy unless you're dead. All overlords describe the dungeon's core as the most powerful wellspring of power besides themselves.
Rolled 87 (1d100)>>2348954Oh right I almost forgot to mention. Never worry about running out of space or building up too large of a fuel reserve Overlord. Dungeons are far larger on the inside then one would think. Even a single layer can be unbelievably huge. As for the fuel reserves... it's just never enough.I swear the number one complaint from Overlords is how come they are always broke. The incompetent ones meanwhile think its a good idea to have a bunch of reserves saved up without actually having any plans for it. Keep in mind reserves are good and all...but its utterly useless if you're not using it for something. Now since I got that out of the way one last thing about you yourself overlord. When you made that pact did you feel that HUGE surge of power? Have you always wondered WHY even a SINGLE Overlord can take on an entire party of heroes solo?Heheheh the Pact greatly strengthens you Overlord. You'll find yourself immensely stronger compared to the old you. So strong in fact that even the mighty Heroes have to team up against you if they wish to stand a chance! The best part is that's not all.You can directly upgrade yourself, Overlord, thanks to using a very special Toolkit, but be warned. What comes with great power is corruption. Think twice when you think of taking a shortcut for lots of power. Many Overlords tend to grow...addicted to the power and lose themselves completely. The wiser ones realize they can get just as powerful by taking their time and not rushing forward blindly without thinking about the cost.Everything has its price Overlord. Especially those shortcuts or powers not meant to be used by mortals with their limited...minds. As such the library and store are organized accordingly. From things so powerful they aren't meant to be used by things like you. To things that carry a risk with their use and finally the stuff that really is safe to use.So if you wish to keep your sanity and your body from being completely corrupted keep that in mind.----Your Dungeon is located within a Magma sea on an island of unusual rock that can withstand the incredible heat. Rolled 25 (1d100)>>2350148>Start digging
>>2350180>>2350417More digging soon commenced as you pondered upon the problem of metals. You know for a fact metal must exist in the magma but this rock island you're on... it's no ordinary rock. Ordinary rock would have long melted. You took a closer look at the rock both the freshly mind, the walls, and even outside in the heat. Which was when you noticed something peculiar. Every rock was extraordinarily hot and even the dungeons feeding off the heat couldn't dampen it too much. Yet at the same time it refuses to melt. Either the melting point is insanely high or...a fire aligned material?Certainly would explain its absurd heat resistance.Yet you never have seen or even heard of such a massive amount of the stuff. At best you heard about the invaluable forges made from it that were priceless in value. Thinking about this you stopped thinking about mere 'common' heat resistant materials if it is uncommon or even rare...you could think of a few. Those that you can think of were cut down given their toughness, unwillingness to cooldown, and being vulnerable to rock to mud spell. Considering all those variables you narrowed down the list to only precious few possibilities.>Ignition EarthExtremely rare for a number of reasons. Its value stems from the fact its like ordinary dirt but somehow is able to 'imbue' fire elements upon whatever lives on it. Which makes it invaluable to the growth of fire elemental plants. That is merely its most well-known use. Other uses include the attunement of products like magma and clay golem parts among other objects. Supportive of fire aligned creatures. Mild in temperament making it very easy to mix with other materials including of polar opposites like water aligned.>Fire RockAn unusual type of rock that is so hot as if it's on fire but for whatever reason, it refuses to melt no matter how high the temperature. Rare but valuable material. Extreme temperature exposure and prolonged exposure has known to cause extremely rare materials from within the rock. Some insist that its possible to melt and its true just not with fire. The only thing known to easily melt it is water.Lava Lords StoneThe Lava Lords are a mysterious beings who make their homes in the heart of volcanoes. Being a bunch temperamental bastards with serious anger issues. Luckily they don't like leaving their lairs but their rage is legendary and quite far reaching. What very few know beyond the creature itself is its home and the side effects of its living nearby. Extremely rare creatures and plants like to make their homes nearby, but few know their presence changes even the rock and fire around them to innate level. While this IS the most unlikely option as the properties of such stones are very poorly recorded because they are just that rare and usually during their rages or before their death. They will destroy everything around them thus taking such things with them. As such samples are extremely difficult to come by.
>>2350560Much less actual usable quantities of the stuff. You only remember much about it is due to a certain incident you heard of a few years back that made you amazed. Upon the death of a lava lord by a group of heroes after the locals finally managed to convince them to come. The Lava Lord as usual self destructed and everything was blown to bits. However, against all odds a small stone was blown far away to safely land on a distant isle. Upon realizing some actually survived even if it only was the size of a pebble. A huge war broke out between nearby kingdoms and it only ended when an Arch Mage showed up to retrieve it.Why is Lava Lord's Stone is invaluable? Is for one very simple reason.Control.Lava Lord Stone as the miraculous property of being extremely able to control. It will reform and malleable itself into whatever shape that is desired. It can harden into a rock or even gem like substance or melt into being a puddle almost as if it were water. Some even go so far as to describe Lava Lords Stone as being a type of fire that is capable of changing the form of matter it is.That isn't even going into what you can make with it just its raw form. Its a common line of thought however that ultimately only the Lava Lords themselves know the full potential of the Lava Lords Stones. As when they self destruct those stones are among the top priority for destruction. A Lava Lord would much rather certain plants and animals escape alive than some of that stone leave intact.Of course thanks to the Forbidden Knowledge you acquired you know some of what its true capabilities are. Lava Lord Stone is in truth a type of clay like substance created by Lava Lords originally as a toy and tool. Its formed by mixing the blood of a lava lord with fire and lava then left outside to cool by the wind but not by water. The reason why Lava Lords value it so much is its adaptability and easy to control. A Lava Lord who is used to using extreme amounts of might has an innate difficulty with finesse. Those Stones help with that they are so easy to control even a Lava Lord would have a hard time screwing it up.The real reason for its so rare?Lava Lords know how to make the stones grow larger so to them a tiny stone of it is the same as a huge boulder. Sadly this secret is known only to the Lava Lords.---Thanks to having lost track of time staring at rocks of all things the next turn has begun and you gain the closest thing to 'wealth'.gained 186 points.Totals generatedLiving Creatures 10Heat Absorb 130Volcanic mud recycling 60CostsUpkeep14What do?>Library is where you find all sorts of knowledge>Summoning for when you need minions and no other way to get them>Items for when you want to 'shop' aka conjure up some objects>Construction with the Dungeon's aid its very fast >Other?

They just divide themselves and go separately. If they prove to be too weak or the prey too strong they'll combine.Whats odd about Oozes is how they are even alive. Unlike their cousins the Slimes they do not possess a nucleus or any other kind of organ. Yet somehow they can track prey and breed just fine.Sadly you don't yet have access to Oozes which you'll have to unlock still.

The sickly slimes for their part just kinda...flop around in disgusting puddles made of themselves. Your not sure what to do with them but hope they can be useful. The third goblin whelp meanwhile joins the other three in digging through solid extremely hot rock. You meanwhile considered golem construction. Before you knew how to create simplistic golems like puppets and the basics of the more advanced golems. But now you got some forbidden knowledge floating in your head. You have an entirely new angle to consider...and seeing all this rock you gave a terrible idea. There are two no three golems you can consider right now. Magma, Rock, and Mud. Considering the forbidden knowledge you now know of ways to enhance golem intelligence, performance, and even entirely new golems like Hell Metal Golem. Now if you had the tools you can start to manufacture golem bodies, but you would still need to be able to enchant them. Along with summoning some kind of spirit to stuff it inside to pilot the damned thing. Requiring summoning and storage of the spirit vessel. The last part is assuming you want golems that can think for itself. Otherwise the mindless versions are doable but they cannot think for themselves. Using forbidden knowledge you know of a few additional possibilities. Carving specific magical formations and glyphs within the body parts as they are constructed its possible to bypass the enchanting problem entirely. At that point you just need a power source or more carving. There is also the peculiar 'possession' vessels that info you now have available to it. Instead of forcing a spirit to pilot a golem. Its possible to lure a spirit to possess it voluntarily and temporarily control it. However without an anchor its temporary and it requires special modifications to be done. Some forbidden golem forging techniques including the infamous Hell Forging or the use of possibly still living bodies. As for those Sickly Slimes they are named so because they are literally so weak and pathetic the Masters realized they couldn't charge shit for them so they made summoning them free without an unlock they suck that much. Now there is a little trick about this Overlord just because they are seemingly weak or worthless doesn't mean they'll stay that way forever. In the case of a Goblin Whelp when they grow up you gain an upgraded Grown Goblin with whatever specialty you forced them to work in. Nifty right?"Same is true for even those seemingly worthless bugs or mice. Mice make cheap way to feed certain creatures and as research subjects. Bugs meanwhile with some magic can be made huge or other useful qualities. As for the Sickly Slime you are aware most slimes and oozes rely upon acids. The Sickly Slime is unusual in its acid is extremely weak. So weak in fact certain bacteria find it perfect and its acid is amazingly effective at decaying already dead materials. More importantly its quite contagious and ridden with disease. The only problem is it takes too long and hence they appear to be worthless, but works fine on already dead things. Mostly because they can't usually escape on their own.----Luckily the goblins kept on digging while you experimented on the slimes and accidentally killed them all. So it wasn't all for naught and you acquired some unusual. Life Force. Which is normally impossible to get your hands on. Hence why Blood Magics are so reliant on blood instead. If it weren't the case they would be far more powerful...and that isn't even getting into its other uses. What do?>Library is where you find all sorts of knowledge>Summoning for when you need minions and no other way to get them>Items for when you want to 'shop' aka conjure up some objects>Construction with the Dungeon's aid its very fast >Other?Totals generated 238Living Creatures 10Heat Absorb 160rock recycling 80CostsUpkeep 18What do?>Library is where you find all sorts of knowledge>Summoning for when you need minions and no other way to get them>Items for when you want to 'shop' aka conjure up some objects>Construction with the Dungeon's aid its very fast >Other?
>>2352536How much would a bestiary cost?Summon2 Sickly Slime10 Mice1 Angry Mushroom1 Ordinary plant
>>2352594100 point per lv as for lv 0s its 10 points.Actually rather cheap until realizing just how MANY creatures there are. It quickly adds up.Another cool thing you can do is UPGRADE minions. Doing so allows stronger variants of the creatures to be recruited. Yes this means if you potentially upgrade say mice just that much its possible said mice kill could kill dragons. It just takes a LOT of investing. However, investing in it is cheaper than upgrading and buying the next lv creature. More importantly, it makes it so your old minions are beefed up and due to how cheap they are. Makes them quite useful indeed. So don't underestimate the power of spamming low level but heavily upgraded units. Because the upgrade cost does NOT affect the recruitment cost in any way. Thanks for buying a lot of certain items to deflate in value. It's very much possible to spam a fuck ton of cheap upgraded units or things. It's actually one of the bigger things that make Overlords so dangerous Overlord. Besides a potentially infinite source of cheap reinforcements, they can be upgraded into being quite powerful. So don't just forget about low-level creatures, objects, or even infrastructure. So while the goblins kept on digging. You took a walk outside aiming to gather materials to research.Sure enough after making sure you double fortified the heat resistance spell. Walking along you encountered peculiar underground plants that thrive off heat and eat through rock. You found large mushrooms the size of trees creating their own forests should there be enough of them. You also saw the ground was carpeted with strange smaller mushrooms.Yet you found no water...but this made you curious. Where was the water they relied upon coming from? Walking around you finally realized it due to the air. The air among the mushroom groves was...steaming hot. There was moisture there. >>2356240>>2356159Goblins being the clever little shits are actually quite inventive. You never understood this until now as you noticed they were up to something. The 'former' hot rock Oven had somehow turned itself into a forge. Meanwhile, the diggers had carefully dug out a channel to allow magma to flow underneath the forge to heat it. Low maintenance, smart(ish), capable of almost any work we need and fairly cheap. Maybe not for combat but for these sorts of construction and infrastructure jobs they seem good.
>>2356943I bet if we take good care of the Goblin whelps. They'll become good minions all around. Be it building, digging, or ass kicking. Grab orcs and what not later to have some real strength.
>>2356943Depends on how many other minions you choose to have. Most of them require food and water.Same with water.Inbreeding is the only restraint well that and how long it takes for them to mature.Goblins are clever but they cowardly weak creatures and they never grow up. Their immaturity and lack of wisdom see to it that they are prone to many accidents. On the other hand, if you don't care about accidents or casualties they make marvelous workers.Be warned though goblins breed VERY quickly. Yet they also get themselves killed quickly.Keep in mind the larger the room the more effective it is. The Mushroom is currently level 2 and the insect will upgrade to level too if you buy more ordinary insects to stock it with. Upgraded rooms are also more effective despite their lack of size. Minions assigned to the rooms will also boost it.Combine them for even more powerful combos.>>2356961Once they mature yes. Goblins don't take long to grow up.
>>2356987Sounds like we should look into upgrading the insect farm, expanding the mushroom farm, buying more goblin whelps and setting them to work digging alongside their fellows. Also, that forge: what can we use it for as of right now?
>>2357049Forging equipment, tools, and parts for other things. Sadly that requires ore. Of which you have yet to discover during your random digging.Or you can cool magma down and break it apart to harvest any metals existing in it. Not only is that time consuming it also requires much filtering of material. Sadly its currently your only source of metal besides the dungeon shop.
>>2357384Is there any difference in cost between a block of ore, ingots or tools made of a metal?
>>2357384Ore is cheaper then ingots but only by a bit. Problem with relying upon Dungeon provided ingots is they are too pure. ore provided by dungeon is a random mix.Tools cost the most. Basically, for dungeon prices, its amount of matter+complexity determines the price for those kind of objects. Finished products cost the most and raw materials cost the least. Refined materials and parts are somewhere in the middle.

As the container was unable to endure the mixture of heat and cold pressure. Naturally this explosion just 'had' to occur when there was danger outside.Soon the flaming skeletons came pouring it but they were met by the flaming mud puppet and yourself. Some of the skeletons were clearly bestial while others were humanoid. All of them were blocked off from entering deeper inside by the flaming mud puppet. You suddenly realized you were even more useless than your puppet at this moment. After realizing they were barely scratching the puppet you had it engulf the flaming skeletons putting out their unholy fires and crushing their bones. It took a while but eventually, all the skeletons were dead. The goblins meanwhile after realizing few fire gems were not the answer after watching one of their own burnt alive. Decided it would be a good idea that clearly the answer was there wasn't enough magma involved. Until another pointed out that was clearly because there weren't enough fire gems. If there were the magma would cool before it could explode. The two groups got into a brawl over their opposing ideas. While one goblin the sole survivor of the forge noticed a fire gem had ended up in a puddle of magma which had quickly cooled while another sprayed into another room was quickly cooled by the dungeon to help prevent harm.Seeing this fact gears in its head twirled.
Rolled 93 (1d100)>>2363893A short time later a bunch of goblins was lined up fully intent on proving their hypothesis right. All had fire gems in hand. Some of them had a lot while others had only a few with a large container full of magma before them. They dropped down at the same countdown and a series of explosions rang out and a small amount of cheering from those who weren't rolling in agony. The sole goblin who wasn't involved meanwhile messing with the dungeon core before turning its head towards the commotion before muttering 'bunch of bloody idiots'. As it chipped a hole through the magma channel causing it to spill. Upon detecting the hot magma entering a restricted zone it was quickly cooled down and the gleeful surviving forge goblin took a pickaxe to it.lost 1 goblin.5 goblins have been wounded.Totals generated 248Living Creatures 10Heat Absorb 200rock recycling 50Upkeep22What do?>A: Explore outside>B: Perform some research the library is where you find all sorts of knowledge>C: Recruiting by summoning for when you need minions and no other way to get them>D: Trade for when you want to 'shop' aka conjure up some objects>E: Construction with the Dungeon's aid its very fast>F: Oversee Operations>G: Craft some stuff>H: Other?>Currency: 413 Energy.>Pop 12(9 goblins. Rolled 82 (1d100)>>2363907Assign the smarter Goblin to Forge overseer. They're going place.Summon 2 more goblins for training >>2363926.Summon 3 plants 1 from desert biome, grassland, and tundra. To test reaction to the soil in a dungeon cooled environment. If I remember correctly theirs a chance the plants can get resistance to the heat. It will be good to test normal plants then reagents later.
Rolled 35 (1d100)>>2364025>>2363926You stare down at the smartest goblin in the lot who figured out you didn't even need fire gems at all to cool the lava down in a dungeon and came up with such an ingenious solution."So you're the goblin who figured things out?""Uh...yes Milord," mumbles the goblin shaking in terror."Good your promoted to Forge Overseer from now on.""Really?" Asks the Goblin perking up before suddenly pointing at the mining goblins. "Boss I need them diggers to dig out magma mining chamber and a proper magma channel. The stuff feeding the forge is too tiny. Not enough for lots.""So you do have a solution to the metal problem then?""Aye Big Boss. Have magma pool into the magma chamber. Dungeon absorbs the heat. We mine the cooled magma and then we process the ores in the forge. A proper foundry would help a lot. The Forge isn't well equipped to handle lots of raw ore.""The goblins need to keep digging out more space and mine materials. We only have so much manpower," you coldly reply as the goblin shrinks back."Tis simple enough solution Overlord. Outside there are...things the glorious Big Boss can recruit. Serving such a mighty leader is a great temptation. No need to summon in more manpower.""All that's out there is an ocean of magma. I don't exactly see any settlements and even monsters are rare.""Lots of fire fire fire fire and things who like fire would love it here! If one moves away from the Magma Ocean Big Boss is sure to find some prospective recruits!""I'm not about to waste my time searching for such things that are likely impossible to find.""Big Boss forgets something very important," chuckles the goblin rubbing its grubby little hands together. "Who says they won't come to you?""...I'm listening.""Heh to attract things of fire bring out fire gems. All that trapped heat makes it very effective bait. Not to mention loud noises can...also attract things. You are mighty Magi Big Boss you have powerful magic to handle or even control whatever shows up!""Fire Gems as bait huh...that certainly would attract things that love fire.""Aye Big Boss Fire Gems even better than Magma. Can store a lot more fire!""So why don't you use fire gems since your forge goblin?""Uh...Fire Gems are tricky things boss," explains the Goblin. "All that fire yet not feel hot. Tricksy Tricksy hard to work with. Not that I haven't tried Boss. I DID figure out something though," says the Goblin before grabbing a seemingly ordinary clay pot that he opens very VERY carefully. "Discovered that cracked Fire Gems go BOOM if they're filled up enough. Weaker ones though spitfire," continues the Goblin living a fire rock case out and opening it. Inside a small fire gem with a nasty gash was spewing forth a constant stream of fire from the crack. Meanwhile, I have some fire gems in the Forge which I use to help control the heat.Examing the cracked fire gem...you discovered something very peculiar indeed.
Rolled 46 (1d100)>>2364329You knew about the release of stored fire energies when a fire gem is cracked yet somehow...its capacity isn't being drained despite the leak. So much so that it could keep on burning forever. This confused you until you realized the container its stored in is Fire Stone. Fire Gems absorb fire if its absorbing enough fire despite the leak..."You are unusually careful for a goblin," you note to the new forge overseer. The goblin merely shrugs and replies with "Cleverest of goblins realize they can have someone ELSE do the most dangerous tasks while they safely hang back. Which is true even outside goblin. Not many goblins realize that though. They think only fighting is most dangerous. Personally, I think its experiments. At least in a fight, you can run away while everyone distracted."You meanwhile summoned up a couple more goblins and even some plants to run some experiments. You even went outside to gather some dirt and began your experiment. One soil has gravel fire rocks, one is flaming mud, earth you gathered outside(very hard to find fiery earth here but not impossible), and the last is a control group with dirt you got from the Dungeon Store. You planted the plants and prepared to observe the results at a later time.Totals generated 268Living Creatures 10Heat Absorb 210rock recycling 60Upkeep12What do?>A: Explore outside>B: Perform some research the library is where you find all sorts of knowledge>C: Recruiting by summoning for when you need minions and no other way to get them>D: Trade for when you want to 'shop' aka conjure up some objects>E: Construction with the Dungeon's aid its very fast>F: Oversee Operations>G: Craft some stuff>H: Other?>Currency: 505 Energy.>Pop 12(11 goblins. 1 Overlord)>Military 1(Overlord)>>Food: Good>>Water: Average>>Morale: Below Average>>Medicine: Very Low>>Health: Below Average>>Armaments: None>>Fuel: Fire Rock(plentiful)>>Tech: Forbidden Knowledge.
