Marvel Quest Presents: Vibrant and Intuition DriveA quest set in a version of the Marvel Universe, following the exploits of two emerging powerful individuals.VibrantAt the cost of the reputation of his multi-million dollar engineering corporation, Vibrant Technologies, as well as the life of his friend, Vincent Walken has developed a sonic device capable of generating terrific force capable of even sending him into an alternate world where he has discovered nuclear ruin, remnants of advanced technology, and a surviving colony. How will he use his new power?Intuition DriveAn escaped android developed to solve investigations with intuition instead of logic. Having fled destruction at the hands of the company that created it, it seeks to find acceptance in the world as a hero and, perhaps, as a person. Having partially thwarted criminals fleeing with a stolen safety deposit box, ID is tracking the ones that got away.[See origin issue: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2098832/ ][See first issue: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/2136336/ ]Twitter: https://twitter.com/FaceripperQM
VibrantYou park your vehicle behind some large boulders on the outside of the quarry. There was a fair chance this was likely to kick up some debris and you’d rather not scratch the paint on your precision automobile.Shrugging off your overcoat that had been concealing your suit, you slip on your sonic gauntlets and mask before picking your way down into the center of the quarry. Vibrant Technologies had acquired this quarry in a takeover five years back and since then, it had only seen occasional use in testing industrial equipment. It was a perfectly secluded spot to practice the new fine touch controls you had acquired from the other world. With your new range of control, you practice normal sonic blasts against boulders, shifting them with your force. Your finely honed blasts takes some aiming, but you’re able to crack smaller boulders from a fair distance. Your wide blasts manage to kick up a cloud of dust 6-9 meters wide, leaving the larger stones untouched. After a while, you practice running, jumping, rolling, and blasting while doing it. By the afternoon, you’ve had a decent workout as well as become quite familiar with your new skills.Taking a break, you head back to your car and relax with a chilled bottle of Pellegrino. As the cold water refreshes you, you consider the rest of your day, the Iron Man suit that Tony Stark promised to send you for use in salvaging tech from the other world wasn’t going to be delivered until late this afternoon, but you were pretty excited about it. Even if you weren't permitted to develop the technology for any other purpose, just having access to it was going to be immeasurably useful. Then there was the colony run by the mysterious “Mister”.You had promised the head of security, Meyers, and the ass of a governor, that you would return with a crate of supplies for them. You had your employees rushing to gather the requested materials together, but you were still unsure about the real leader of the colony of refuges, the one they called “Mister”.You still hadn't met him yet but had the definite sense that there was definitely something odd about the situation, especially since Mister, or the governor, tried to electronically track you.no one at the colony had done anything wrong just yet, but you weren't sure about trusting them at face value.Still, you wanted to deliver quality supplies on time, no reason not to impress. Especially if you could pokssibly learn how the colony was able to generate such powerful shields to protect itself. You had asked for various, relatively minor technological secrets in exchange for the delivery. It would prove interesting to see how they respond. Now that you were done resting, you had to decide whether to keep training or not.>Keep practicing>Return to the office and oversee the-WAIT.What the hell is that plume of dust? Was that a car?Who the hell would be all the way out here?>To be continued...
>>2181886From your hidden position, you have a clear view of a large black SUV speeding up the as access rod to the quarry. It's clearly not a company vehicle and you dismiss any thought that it might be here for you when it pulls into a clearing and two dangerous looking men in suits exit the vehicle. One, a large, muscular man, circles around to the back of the SUV as the other man slowly strolls to the edge of a particularly deep cliff. The large man pulls a crumpled, but well dressed figure out of the back, drags him to his feet, and gives a solid punch to the midsection for good measure before dragging him to the cliff edge. The men begin talking and, although you cannot hear every word, it seems apparent that something went wrong, something important was lost, and the two are holding the third responsible.Carefully moving closer, you can make out more of what they're saying."It wasn't my fault! You know that, Joey! You were there! It was all Frankie's fault. He screwed up!""Don't worry Dan, Frankie'll get his. But the box was your responsibility, so you gotta take the heat on this one. Look, this way, those bastards might not trouble to come allthe way out this way to do unspeakable things to you.""What does that mean?">Cautiously keep watching the men by the cliff edge.>Strike down the one threatening Dan with a narrow blast, for justice.>Step forward and buffet the men with a wide blast as an honorable warning.Hit the violent one with a normal blast, taking down the threat.>write-in

You find two sizable pieces of good news greeting you when you arrive at the office.First, the crate of supplies and materials should be ready earlier than expected, so you should be able to make the delivery shortly.Second, you have a delivery from Tony Stark. You are almost giddy when you see the large, well, box.The suit arrived in a large hermetically sealed crate opened with your hand print which acts as a signature on the agreement you and your lawyers already looked over and agreed to.This suit would change everything. You can’t believe you actually feel grateful to Tony Stark. You place your hand in position, the box opens with a gentle hiss, and you examine the contents. You can’t believe you actually felt grateful to Tony Stark.Fuck Tony Stark. Fuck him and fuck his fancy shipping box. He might as well have left the suit out in front of your building on cement blocks.Nearly every piece of hardware has been gutted and stripped from the suit. They even took the wiring. It’s little more than a motorized frame with some thin, battle damaged armor that hardly looks better than your Kevlar. But you breathe, calm down, and hold your final judgment until you’ve tested the suit. Once you have it on, you are somehow even more disappointed. The sad actuators on the suit hardly help your strength at all and actually impair your movement. Fortunately, R&D promised some basic steel prototype actuators for you in a week and a full strength set with the proper alloy in under a month. The frame had mountings for tech, gear, jets, weapons, and such, but they had all been removed. The display in the helmet was functional, but the software remaining was slightly more advanced than a Speak & Spell. You were sorely tempted to return to Tony Stark with the suit and shove it up his ass.But the framework was incredibly sturdy and durable. If you could reverse engineer the alloy, you suspect you could construct superior armor with it. And once you had your actuators installed, the suit would actually give you a considerable strength boost. With a sigh, you resolve to leave it as a “work in progress”.You prepare for the trip to the alternate world. Reviewing the crate, it is fully loaded with the supplies, including a twelve-pack of beer for Meyers that you threw in.Placing the crate on a small sled, you climb on the crate and wrap your arms around it, angle your hands towards each other and begin the sonic vibrations that shift you into the other world.Roll 1d100+10

I'm actually quite happy with what Stark sent us. It was exactly what we needed to begin developing, and allows for the development path that won't make us Iron Man, model B. Not removing signature weapons and software would have been giving away too much of his own tech, and propulsion uses the same tech weapons do.Plating is a bit disappointing, but we'll pull through.
>>2183400You make the trip successfully, appearing just over the ridge, not far from where you appeared the first time. With a little bit of effort, you’re able to pull the crate along the snow to the hangar where you are greeted just as gruffly as before, only with far less alarm. You are brought into the hangar and they initiate a thorough radiation screening process before clearing technicians in to open and unload the crate. The governor appears and hardly acknowledges you, instead he fastidiously reviews the supplies you brought, eventually sneering at the twelve pack of beer.“I added that as a thank you to Meyers for his help and the tour.” You offer, trying to ease the tension.“I’ll make sure it gets sent to security. Meyers won’t be joining us today.”“Why not?”“Not that it’s any concern of yours, but there was a minor security incident in the industrial sector that required his presence. You will be dealing solely with me tonight.”“How lovely.” You try to keep the disdain from your voice. What followed was a tedious bookkeeping of your delivery followed by an equally tedious meeting in a dreary empty conference room where the governor, in painfully slow detail, went through all of your requests for technology and explained why they were unreasonable. You were tempted to ask for that twelve pack back, just to get through the meeting. Actually, you were getting thirsty, but you’re not certain you trust any drink this man got for you, plus you’d have to remove your helmet, and so far they hadn’t seen your face. Not that it really matters in an alternate world, but you would feel less protected. As you’re talking with the obstinate governor, trying to get him to see reason on, anything, really, a beautiful blonde woman pops in the door. You stand immediately, welcoming the distraction. “Ah, there you are! This is where you’ve been hiding him!” She is wearing a formless flight suit, but that does little to dampen her amazing beauty, her familiar beauty. Where do you recognize her from? “The first real bit of interesting news around here and it happens when I’m away.”“You are always away.” The governor dryly responds, earning him an irritated look. “Not that we don’t appreciate all that you for us out there. And with that, he turned and his stretched his left arm across the room to flip several switches on a strange machine. Suddenly the vague familiarity of his voice struck home. "Reed Richards!"You're Dr Reed Richards!" you exclaim, somehow possibly gushing even more than you did over Ms. Marvel."Please," he responded, "we have reached an age of man beyond the need for titles such as "doctor" or "professor" or the like. And I must admit, after failing to prevent the thermal nuclear devastation of the entire planet, I no longer feel anything but shame at being called 'Fantastic'. So please, if you don't mind? Why don't you just call me Mister?"
>>2184542Neat!Although we should probably be careful assuming characters and their motivations in this universe, it seems kinda like a nice settlement so far...
Sorry about today. That update was supposed to be the reveal dropped this morning as a closer to the session, but then I fell asleep while phone posting it.Twice.I am sporadically available for the next few hours, but I wasn't planning on running a session again until tomorrow morning.Any questions?>>2183588>I'm guessing that means the DC to cross is harder for us... although ours is not that shabby eitherThis is correct.>>2184584>Although we should probably be careful assuming characters and their motivations in this universe, it seems kinda like a nice settlement so far. This is wise. I like to play around with wjst I can.For example, even in his own universe, Security Head Meyers is a former villain.
>>2184651Thanks for running OP!I wonder how good an idea would be to get our universe Richards' to meet up with his doppelganger... but that's far away yet.
>>2184816>I wonder how good an idea would be to get our universe Richards' to meet up with his doppelganger...It's been done before elsewhere, with mixed results. But as far as ours goes, time will tell if that comes up.Honestly, this has gotten so far from my original idea, you wouldn't believe it.It's great.
>>2184651Who was Meyers? And Mister should have been Mr Sinister. The red beacon fit too well. In this universe he could have been Mister Altruistic.
>>2188132>Who was Meyers?Boomerang
>>2188132>In this universe he could have been Mister Altruistic. That is a universe that is truly hard to imagine.
Well, I tried my best, but my plans of running sessions this weekend went down in flames.I can run tomorrow and will update on the times in the morning. Thanks for reading!
>>2189833No worries OP. Enjoy the festivities!
At the risk of dooming myself again, I plan to run at a leisurely pace tosay at about 3-4pm EST (8-9pm) UTC.I'll be running the continuation of Intuition Drive's investigation.
Here and alive.Posting in a bit.
Sorry, internet issues. Hopefully resolved.
Intuition DriveYou walk down the street at a brisk pace, not stopping to think about where you're going. Sometimes this has helped you in the past, operating on pure instinct. However, it's been well over an hour since the robbery and you have no reason to suspect that the criminals that got away are anywhere still in the area. But still, you feel the need to keep looking. You finally have an opportunity here to investigate as you were designed to and to prove to the world , and yourself, that you are a valuable part of society, a valuable person, and maybe even a hero. But at the moment, you find yourself standing in a very empty street corner in the middle of a very empty warehouse district. You're not sure you even remember how you got here. You don't remember crossing the bridge but you must have because you're on Lairdman Island.Looking around, you don't see anything suspicious and your instinct and intuition aren't telling you any particular direction to go or a particular building to investigate.Unsure of what to do exactly, you step into the shadows of an alleyway and lean against the brick wall of the warehouse. Finally in a moment of rest, you notice that your nanites are experiencing a strange glitch. Well, not really a glitch, really, just an unusual reading and their self diagnostics.Normally you would rest, remain still, and sort of inwardly focus so that you can actively understand what they are trying to process. But you're very determined on finding these men right now and don't want to give up.>Keep pursuing the criminals, for justice.>Look around in rhe buildings at random, even if you don't find the criminals, there might someone, somewhere in need of help.>Cautiously, take the time to understand what's going on with your nanites.>write-in

>>2192048>Keep pursuing the criminals, for justice.
>>2192048Take a look around for clues. Assess the general area and look for anything out of place.Let the diagnostics run in the background.
>>2192075>>2192271>>2192300You decide that there's no time to waste, you can't let those criminals escape justice. You let the diagnostics run in the background. You step out of the alley to cross the street and keep searching and are nearly hit by a speeding grey van that sped out of nowhere and kept going. That driver was totally unfamiliar, but you felt the strongest urge to follow. Running after the van, you are grateful when they shortly turn into an old warehouse with open doors.Your top speed is barely above average human level.Suspiciously, as soon as the van cleared the doors, men wearing black closed the doors after it.Creeping to a window in the alley, you are able to four men in odd black attire inside unloading expensive looking electrical equipment out of the van and into a black SUV.There is a man wearing a hat and coat not dissimilar to yours taking to a fifth man in black. You are trying to make out what they are saying when suddenly the fifth man in black turns to stare at you, looking dead at you with a cold stare.Quickly checking on the other four, you can't see any of them! Several sets of arms smash through the window you were looking through and pull you inside.Thrown to the floor, you quickly stand and ready yourself for battle. You're unharmed, but your fake beard is comically askew."Who are you?" the man in black demands as the other man turns around, revealing himself to be wearing a mask of some kind.>Remove your beard and proudly say "I am Intuition Drive. You are under arrest for suspicion of grand larceny! Surrender now.">Bravely just leap into action and fire your stunning energy gun at the two in front of you.>Cautiously grab and hold the nearest enemy and use them as a shield while you fire the others close by.>Reply, "I am nobody to be underestimated." And wait to respond while studying them all. >write-in

The second blast just barely missed the man in the coat and hat and simply stood there, looked back at his fallen conspirator, and goaded you "Come on! Is that your best shot? Try it again!"You raise your weapon, but your intuition screamed that it's a terrible idea.Seeing that you aren't taking the bait, he laughs and shrugs off his hat and coat revealing a very ostentatious disguise."Now you face Electro the master of electricity!"Before you can respond you are set upon by the remaining men in black.Roll 4d100.

>>2192578(Dem rolls. You know, you're supposed to be a bad fighter)Forming a hard nanite shell around your arms you block the first two attacks of the incoming men in black and they recoil their hands in pain. You strike them down quickly and inarticulately but the simple punches do the job and they drop. The final two also leap on you at the same time. You're able to strike one down with a solid punch to the jaw which crumples him soundly. The final one grapples you, straining against your servos and restricting your movement. You strike him but you're unable to fully dislodge him. Then you hear a cackle and the crackle of electricity as Electro generates a large bolt and hurls it at both of you. The electricity siezes both your bodies and you both shake violently at the impact. You brace yourself for the pain you know it's coming, but then it doesn't.For reasons you cannot explain, the electricity doesn't seem to be harming you at all. Well, that's not entirely true, your fake beard fries and melts off your face. The man that was grappling you falls to the ground with thin wisps of smoke drifting off his body. "You got lucky and he blocked some of that blast!" says Electro "Now you'll take the full force of my power!">Bravely stand and take the full blast.>Cautiously run for cover behind the van.>Compassionately shield yourself and the fallen man.>Sacrificing yourself you charge at Electro with your nanite shields. >Write-in

You run as fast as you can towards the other side of the van. You are about a meter away when a tremendous blast of electricity strikes... just behind you as you duck behind the van."Damn it! You're a fast one!" He called out, "Ah, you're one of those superhero types aren't you? Yeah you are, I can tell."Crouching behind the van, you can spy him slowly working around the vehicle as he talks. You maneuver to match as you plan your next move."Tell you what, hero. These here chumps paid me just to pull a heist this afternoon and then were paying me again for the loot. I don't think they'd appreciate me frying their new gear, not to mention their men, trying to get you."On the other hand, I doubt they'd appreciate leaving these guys to get nabbed by your amateur ass."What do you say" he offers, "I let you take off, and we do the same, and everybody goes on to fight another day?""You expect me to believe you won't blast me as l leave?" You call over the truck."Or, I could just fry everything in the building. Don't underestimate my power!"Searching for something you can use to your advantage, you see an old light fixture nearly above him. You figure if you move partially out of cover, he'll move under it to get a clean shot. You're also pretty sure the lead man has a projectile weapon, which wouldn't be as ineffective against Electro.Of course, he could be telling the truth about letting you go, too.>Go for the gun.>Bait him to shoot the lights down on him.>Come out into the open to escape.>Write-in

Knocked on all fours, you are utterly stunned. You are stunned by the fact that you are, impossibly, completely unharmed despite taking a terrific amount of electricity when lesser blasts have nearly incapacitated you before.>Stand up and stare down the bravely defeated Electro.>Cautiously play dead and observe.>Proudly get up and taunt the villain.>Write-in
>>2194120Any WiFi Signal in the vicinity to alert the authorities? Guess that would be too much to ask for.Hmm... I’m not sure if we can safely contain the guy in any way... opportunity to trick them into thinking we’re dead might be the best one to take.

>>2194152>>2194184>>2194299You stand up and stare down Electro bravely. "You have the right to remain silent...""Fat chance..." he weakly replys, angling his pinned hand at you and firing a weaker blast of electricity into you.You feel the force of the blast, but the energy does no damage.[New Power Unlocked: Immunity to Electricity Damage! Source: Unknown]"...oh." devastated that his power was useless, weakened by expending his power, and badly injured from the falling fixture, he passed out unconscious. Now you're left with the puzzle of how to secure these men, especially Electro with his powers, so that they are not a threat police arrived. Looking around at the very few available materials you come up with a plan. Using the seatbelts from both the van and the SUV you are able to strap together and tie down the five men in black, none of whom have any form of identification on them. There is no wi-fi signal this tome, outside of a password protected signal from a more well maintained warehouse several blocks away.Although, the leader did have a cell phone that wasn't damaged by your shot.Working against the clock and as quickly as possible because you're not sure how long Electro will remain unconscious, you remove the tires from the vehicles and secure Electro as best as possible inside the tires using the packing materials from inside the boxes of stolten electronic equipment. It's not pretty, but you get it done before calling the police to collect the men, identifying yourself only as ID.You tried to interrogate the men, but they were still solidly unconscious when the cops showed up.You linger in an alleyway, to make sure that Electro was captured safely. After seeing him safely escorted onto a special vehicle, you are ready to leave when the other five men are taken outside. The four walk with a resigned shame. The fifth walks proudly, taking everything in. Again, his eyes somehow find you and he stares. They widen in sick as he is pushed into a car. Two words escape his lips and you can make out the quiet shout across the distance, "The Drive!"You are gone before the cars are.You have had a very strange day and need to think about a great deal. You find a quiet spot and inwardly focus.Your nanites have been trying to understand a strange subatomic phenomenon. Of course, you can't see it, and only barely understand it, but it seems that all the electrons that make up your molecular form, including the nanites themselves, are protected by a force field. Each individual electron is protected by a force field.Everything you know about science says that is stupidly impossible. The technology to do that doesn't exist. The science to do that would be so advanced it would be insane. The science to do that would be so advanced it would be virtually indistinguishable from... magic.
I'll be the first to say that the pace of updates for that session was frelled to hell.I'll work to be more consistent next time.
>>2194387No worries OP and cheers for the tale!
Update:My primary device got bricked a few days ago.So unless I can work a miracle, the next session (which was to include an informative conversation between Vibrant and Mister) might not happen until Wednesday, and then not until very late again.I'll do my best.Worst case scenario, I'll pick it up in a new thread within a week.Cheers.
>>2211729Good luck with your tech. Too bad you aren't Vibrant irl.
>>2211779Thanks.>Too bad you aren't Vibrant irl.At this point, I'd settle for "Internet as a Superpower” from Intuition Drive. But yeah, 500 million dollars would be handy.
