HHHEEELLLLLOOOOOO Ladies and Germs, It is your humble Narrator, WeaverQM!Now, this is something I was dabbling with the idea with through today and well...i'm doing it anyway! Before I ended up running Icarus Rising (By far the most popular quest i've done ever) I started with a small little idea of mine. That culminated in the mostly 1.5 thread Web-Weaver Quest, which died because of personal shit at home. HOWEVER~! I have taken the idea and authority to start it again, as the first issue was archived and so we will be picking up from there! I'll let you guys take your time to read the old thread and when you guys are ready just post a quick thing so I know that this is a wanted Venture!http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/1621991/
>>2047458You awaken to the sensation of drowning. You have no idea how long you’ve been out, but opening your eyes you see nothing but the pale grey of webbing and the faint glow of purple beyond. Aside from your breathing and the occasional ruffle of whatever it is you are trapped in, you hear the skittering of legs and chittering of mandibles.“Hmnnnn I wonder if the little hatchling is awake.” You hear a deep, male voice trail out and the feeling of a clawed hand gently tracing down your abdomen. “I would hate to displease the Mother and not adequately….prepare...her champion”>A.) >>2047458“Uh...hello? I’m...well I’m awake.” You sheepishly reply, body shuffling in your confines to prove the point. After a moment you feel the clawed finger curve and with a loud ripping sound you’re freed from your prison and for the first time manage to look at your surroundings. And it definitely isn’t Gotham anymore. Cavernous and massive, the place is criss-crossed in massive strands of webbing. Connecting spires of stone and webbing all around you. It is more akin to looking into the center of a hive of ants, and at the center of the it all sat a massive glowing purple orb. “I see you are finding the Underhive pleasing to your eyes.” The same voice says, which you now attach to a male spider...thing. Managing to crawl free of what was your web prison you look down at your hands and find that from neck to toe your once ruffled school uniform is a glossy, black….suit?“Ummm yeah.” You manage, poking and touching at the strangely elastic material that has been replaced your clothing. For a moment the creature looks at it with all eight eyes before giving you a smile “Be at ease, Champion, the Mother informed me of your...lack of knowledge. I have been instructed to help answer your questions and help adjust you to your new role. My name is Ma’khel’em.” The newly named Ma’Khel’em explains, nodding to you. >A.) Champion? In both directions above and below the expanse was massive, criss-crossed by web and rock bridges at seemingly random angles. You could see the faint silhouettes of creatures similar to Ma’khel’em crawling along the spires and walls. Your host looks at you strangely before giving a dry chuckle. “This place is the Underhive, Realm of the Under Mother, the Weaver of Fate and watcher of destiny.” He replies, coming into step...er...steps beside you.“Uh-huh.” You mumble, nodding at the answer before looking back “But...where exactly IS here?” You reiterate. “Well, the simplest answer? Not on Earth, well….sort of.” Ma’khel’em replies.“Wait...if the Underhive doesn’t exist on Earth, how did I get here?” You ask, looking at man-spider with a node of confusion. “You just said this isn’t on Earth.”He gives you a patronizing smile, the one perhaps an adult would give to a confused child “Well, isn’t that the big question? ‘How do places that shouldn’t exist, exist?’ Well the answer, as best as I can really tell you is like this: Picture a straight line; That line is your world. Now imagine that there are incredibly small holes in that line, that unless you were looking for them and knew where to look you’d find nothing. Now imagine that there are incredibly small holes in that line, that unless you were looking for them and knew where to look you’d find nothing. THAT is where the hive is.”“Now, for how you got here? Well, technically you are still on Earth. Mentally and spiritually perhaps you are here in the Underhive, but your body? That’s still on Earth.” He says, patting you gently on the back with a grin. “I don’t mean to say this is fake, it’s very real. You’re perceiving me touching you, yes? You’re perceiving the actual realm around you, of that you have no doubts considering how you woke up here. It’s as real as you make it to be.”“How do I leave? I mean...this place ain’t exactly home, and if this isn’t connected to Earth how do I get back? I mean you just said I never left, but here I am. What do I do?” You ask, looking back to your companion.“That freedom will come in time, however for now you have no real control. Consider it a...learning experience in a sense, after all you’re the newest champion; You’re even lower on the totem pole here than a hatchling. If you’re gonna get the privilege to come to the hive whenever you want, well...that’s something the mother will have to grant you.”Great, so they could kidnap you at any time to this place? >>2049091Pondering the fact that you were in some strange pseudo-nightmare scape you looked at your hands and realized that you were still covered in the same blackish gloss you had first woke up here.“And what about this stuff?” You ask, pinching it slightly in one hand and trying to pull it away only for it to snap back to your skin. This seems to perk Ma’khel’em up significantly and skittering closer he seems to almost revere the strange...stuff. “It is old magic, VERY old magic.” He starts, tracing a pointed finger along the chest to the runic symbols that eventually twisted into the shape of a spider. “Back at the beginning of the great tapestry, when the Mother first sired her champion she used the raw power of the aether to mold what would be her mark. Those who pledged themselves to the Mother and aspired to do her will could only hope to be given it, to be chosen as the Mother's true champion. With each champion of donned it and died its strength grew, and that strength only magnified as the War Behind the Veil continued and the mother granted enhancements to the champions.” He says, the history turning more into legend. “So...i’m her champion?” You ask your steward. He laughs.“Oh trust me, if it were up to the Mother you’d have been fed to the hatchlings like all the others. The only reason you are not spider food is because you show promise, for the first time in almost seven centuries the Mother has a candidate and she is taking no chances on losing it.” The realization that the some fifty bloody puddles you had seen in the warehouse were eaten by spiders fills your stomach with unease, but only leaves you with more questions.>A. >>2050298“Would I know any of her old Champions?” You ask “Historical figures, famous or infamous people?” Ma’khel’em chuckles “They wouldn’t be very great assassins if people knew who they were.” He explains. “And given your data-hungry world it made sense that the best thing would be that suit. It has it’s perks but...I guess you’ll have to figure those out.”You look at him for a moment and want to get an answer, but the continuing chittering along the the bridges and arches of the hive bring you back to the strange land you find yourself in. “Do I have a choice?” You ask after a moment. It’s clear that Ma’khel’em wasn’t expecting that sort of response and there is a pregnant pause as he ponders it.“I suppose that there’s nothing stopping you from choosing how to deal with things but, I don’t think you realize the risk.” He starts, hands wringing. It’s clear he isn’t comfortable about this.“See...you Technically aren’t alive. Well, you are, but you also died. That...is part of the way that your contract works. The Mother has used part of her immense power to restore you to life, and through that she has a means to give you power and communicate with you. If you go against her and you have no way of keeping yourself alive...well...you can guess.”Well then, that’s comforting. >anymore questions? >A. Yes (write-in)>B. No

And as far as you know even if you requested to see the Mother it was apparent you were a pawn and she the king, you wouldn’t be given an audience if you tried. “Well, I guess it’s time to wake up then!” Ma’khel’em insists before doing the unthinkable. He pushes you off the edge.Your arms flail as you desperately try to shoot out your webs or cling to anything, but you find yourself unable. All the while the ground grows closer, closer...closer.Your eyes snap open as your hands shoot ahead of your face, only to see the eggshell white ceiling of your room. Your brain, still a haywire of activity tries to discern reality from fiction. Yet focusing on your hands you still see the black gunk that is your ‘gift’ from the Mother along your body.‘I guess Ma’khel’em wasn’t kidding.’ you think to yourself before sitting up.Looking to your alarm clock you notice it’s only 5:30, you’ve got a good two hours before you’re supposed to wake up.Getting out of bed you begin your morning stretches, trying to adjust to the cool sensation of the black suit around your skin. In hindsight you think to yourself it would have been a wise maneuver to ask on just how this thing works, seeing as since you’ve woken up it has retained the jet black appearance. How are you supposed to change into your school clothes when-As if to answer the question the suit begins to bulge and warp, and within half a minute the familiar sight of your school uniform welcomes you in the mirror. ‘Huh, well that takes care of that’ you think to yourself. >>2051951It would be foolish of you to go with a color other than black you realize, as your whole arsenal of skills were built for more lightning and surprise attacks before slinking back into the shadows. While you were sure you’d be no slouch in fighting you weren’t doing it for the people, hell you weren’t doing it even for yourself. You were doing it because your other options were death, and with that ultimatum the truth was a simple one.Necessity and utility overrode personal thoughts and niceties like a good public appeal. And so with a slight dab of white along the chest and back you were done. Commanding the suit to get off of you you step into the shower and let the warm water relax your still-new muscles. You are still trying to come to terms with the bizarre chain of events you've found yourself in, and it occurs to you that you aren’t ready. Also, for you guys to know (not so much Alex, but so you have an idea of what you can do right now)>Superhuman Strength: You can currently lift up to two tons under nominal conditions, but can lift far more extreme amounts under extreme stress.>Superhuman Agility: You incredibly fast on your feet, capable of topping out at speeds of thirty miles per hour.>Superhuman Reflexes: In conjunction with your animal instincts, You are capable of dodging bullets at near-point blank range. However it takes conscious effort, and therefore You must be conscious to use it.>Superhuman Equilibrium: You’re capable of orienting himself perfectly, balancing Yourself in seemingly impossible ways.>Superhuman Healing Factor: While you cannot regenerate lost limbs, Your metabolic healing rate is significantly higher than baseline humans.Past Weavers have been able to recover from broken bones and internal damage in a matter of hours, recovered from acidic damage to the eyes in two days, and were active after suffering third degree burns across their body in two weeks.>Superhuman resistance: You’re resistant to almost all forms of toxins, with higher doses only slightly hampering your abilities over a period of hours.>Organic spinnerets/fangs: nestled between your forearms are a pair of foot long fangs often concealed beneath the skin. These fangs act as natural spinnerets, allowing you to expel and make use of spider silk. In addition to this you can force the fangs forward to be used more offensively, but the pain this causes can be distracting otherwise. >Animistic Instincts: due to the symbiotic relationship between Yourself and [You Don’t Know the Name Yet] Your senses are enhanced by those of your patron. This gives you what can only be described as instinctual precognition, allowing Your to act and react to threats otherwise unseen. From incoming bullets to a loose section of pipe, your instincts have never led you wrong.
>>2052567Various dark grays and possible low saturation browns could be effective in breaking a silhouette in an urban environment if we had the right pattern.Considering we're in the only city that still practices a mix of Gothic Architecture and Art Deco, dark grays would probably help a lot when sneaking.

>>2052549It’s sad to think that of all things, being the loser is what’s going to help you the most going forward. But perhaps that’s the great victory to take away from it. How the subtle changes in people's faces and postures could indicate far more than meets the eye. While even now you aren’t quite the most social butterfly, your insight has made things far easier. And while the people you fear you’ll no doubt have to handle aren’t bullies or pre-teens being petty, they are still mostly human and your insight will be invaluable. Stepping out of the shower and toweling yourself down you peek yourself in the steamed mirror and remember the strangely chiseled physique you now blessed with. To answer your question (I just got out of helping a bunch of kids for charity) Yes, you can mix any number of them. Though it seems that stealth will be the primary with dodging and reflexes as secondary.Sound good?
>>2053029Sounds good.Also, you do charity work?Good going.
>>2053012We'd be on the radar of plenty of law abiding capes, even if the people we'd be killing are murderers themselves, just seems like too much of an hassle in the long run.Plus, jewelry robbing is one thing, but we kinda lose our puckish rogue persona the moment we start dropping bodies left and right despite having the means to make them submit.
>>2053049I understand what you mean, robbing people is just, getting money and shit. and your right, it does have a certain charm to it. But the whole killing people thing kinda negates it
>>2053029Do it, if you're still feeling charitable. But seriously, yeah, sounds good.
>>2052649Your stealth was going to be your greatest ally, and being able to blend in seamlessly with the surrounding environment gave you the sort of advantage you’d be stupid to not take advantage of. However you could not ignore the inevitable, and in the case of you being detected or your advantage of stealth being lost you would fall back onto your incredible agility. You’d have to learn a bit on how strong you were before you really went all out, but for now? For now it was a good plan.Looking over to the clock you still had plenty of time before school started, and you had a few options, after all getting dressed wasn’t an issue anymore. >A.) It was the end result of one guy saying "I'm gonna use what I know to make what I want," and even if it wasn't great, I can't help but stand in awe of the balls it takes to make such a successful franchise out of such "fucking around in the garage" resources. Of course, when Monty died, there went the passion, and it's painfully obvious in the newer Volumes, so I stopped watching.
>>2053324The only thing worthy of note is the fights, which is clearly were Monty Oum focused his autism since that's what he always loved doing, there's a clear difference in the fights and the rest of the show.>>2053325>Perhaps give it a read if you'd like to see for yourself. No thanks, I'll stick with this quest of yours, thanks.I mean no offense, but you can polish a turd, doesn't stop it from being a turd.>>2053329>I can't help but stand in awe of the balls it takes to make such a successful franchise out of such "fucking around in the garage" resourcesI'm more in awe at the fact it's quite big in Japan, to the point it has a dub, a manga, and recently RWBY characters have been announced for an upcoming crossover fighter by goddamn Arc System Works. The fuck is going on?
>>2053352>The fuck is going on?Otaku have no taste, as per usual?Have you seen the shit they eat up on a regular basis?
>>2052649Making your way out into the kitchen, you’re quick to put a pan on and crack some eggs into it. Darting around you also set two bagels up to toast and pour yourself a tall glass of Good ol’ OJ. You hear in the other room the sound of who you guess is your dad hopping in the shower. Taking that into account you crack a few more eggs and scramble them, making plenty for yourself and your father. Popping the bagels out you scoop it out and add a hearty amount of the eggy goodness into the newly made reservoir when it comes to you. You have a portable breakfast sandwich, why not get going? You shake that thought however, and decide instead to wait fifteen minutes. After all, it was 6:45; Knowing him he was still tossing and turning in bed. However as you sit and wait, your breakfast sandwich now warm instead of piping hot you can no longer contain your excitement that had been billowing in your stomach. You can barely contain the grin on your face as you open your window and step out onto the fire escape. The sun is still rising and the warmth of the distant ball of plasma more than makes up for the chill of the morning. Making a quick climb up to the roof, backpack snugly secured to your back you change into your new ‘costume’ and after taking a bite of your breakfast you take a leap and head off to school, taking small bites when you land on other buildings around you. With some food now sitting comfortably in your stomach you come back to the problem above:You don’t have a name for your Alter-Ego...what should it be?>A.) Spider-Man>B.) The Hunter.>C.) The Web-Weaver>D.) Other (Write-in)

>>2053384The Human Spider.Lets go full Sam Raimi on this.>There's always gonna be that one mook that thinks he's a wiseguy that's gonna say "Wouldn't Spider-Man be better?">We always go a bit harder on that guy
>>2053406>"Oh crap, it's Spider-Man!">"Nonono, for the last time it's The Human Spider! Human. Spider. Aah why does nobody ever get it right?"As an addendum, we can just be called Spider for short by other vigilante acquaintances seeing how the name is purposefully awkward
>>2053389Supporting>>2053406I honestly think of all the spider movies, Ramies is my fav, even with Emo Peter.
>>2053420Raimi's have that cheese going on that gives them some personality, beyond some ridiculous moments or line delivery, plus they have J.K Simmons as J Jameson, that makes the movies automatically better.
>>2053384As silly as it sounded, perhaps the simplest name would be the most effective. If the criminal underbelly of Gotham could be terrified by a man in a bat costume, then it would easy to guess that they could be equally frightened by the latin name for Spider.10% of people in the U.S alone were afraid of spiders, that’s one in ten; Odds were you would be terrifying to the people you faced.Finished with your breakfast you continue to take your sweet time just enjoying the freedom of flying above the city of Gotham. You’ve still got a good forty-five minutes you think to yourself, and so you enjoy the free publicity, waving at the cars below and doing death-defying stunts. It’s a good day to have spider-powers.>Roll for me gents, 1d20.

>>2053476Your revelry is cut short however by a resounding explosion. Further down the street you can see plumes of smoke, fire licking out of blasted out windows. Screams, gunfire and shouting is coming from the area and the distant sound of sirens echo off in the distance. It’s early morning. You doubt the bat is going to be out, and the police are still a ways a way. It’s your time. How do you want to approach this?!>A.) Rush inside, just take down whoever get’s in your way>B.) Take it slow, head in through one of the windows and scope it out.>C.) Go in out of costume, maybe they’ll take you hostage>D.) You don't have time for this! You have to go to school
>>2053497>B.) Take it slow, head in through one of the windows and scope it out.our skillset is best used if we be cautious
>>2053497>B.) Take it slow, head in through one of the windows and scope it out.
>>2053497>A.) Rush inside, just take down whoever get’s in your way IT BETTER NOT BE OUR UNCLE/DAD OR I SWEAR TO GOD
>>2053497>B.) Take it slow, head in through one of the windows and scope it out.Could be one of three gangs.Let's hope it's a bunch of dudes in pressed suits and fedoras and not guys in clown masks.
>>2053476While not being late for school is certainly important, this is your chance to truly be a hero. Curbing your excitement, you try and focus. You can’t just go in guns blazing, you’ll get shot to pieces. So instead you sling your way to the building and crawl inside one of the blown out windows. The building at first seemed like any number of high rises and other cities in the city of Gotham, it turns out the first floor was in fact a bank. Crawling within the blown out remains of an upper office, you can hear the barked orders of one of the thugs before a spray of gunfire sparks along at the ceiling. Pressing closer to the floor you continue your near silent crawl to the shattered window on the other side.Peering out quickly you spot a half dozen men in black suits and balaclavas. A majority of them are armed with pistols though one, no doubt their leader, has an assault rifle. Two more members are at the back wall, drilling into the vault located there. While you might otherwise have been a bolder man and rushed them, the line of twenty or so individuals on their knees near some of the pistol wielding members give you pause. You’re lucky, you realize after a moment, that you have your suit. As after a few moments you realize the costume has begun to take on the dark brown of the stained wood railing you’re pressed against. But that advantage you realize is only going to work so long as you stayed still. You could not afford to do that.>How do you proceed? (Write-in and discuss)
>>2053497>>B.) Take it slow, head in through one of the windows and scope it out.We Sneeki Breeki, now. Also, >D.) You don't have time for this! You have to go to schoolKek, like anyone would choo- Oh no, Doctor Connor's class. I got caught up in what I was doing I forgot all about it. He's gonna kill me.
>>2053514Wait for them to get done drilling into the vault, until they have a false sense of security and are about to leave to act, dont make any rash actions they have hostages
>>2053514Nab one when they're not looking, and lash him+gag him on the wall, then the other dude and finally the one drilling the vault, all in cocoons with the heads free of course. Then have a conversation about their life choices and see if they can't do better for themselves in a more honest line of work. Follow their passions!
>>2053527Kinda support. I say let them get out of the bank, clear of the hostages, and then drop them.
>>2053514Let's wait on the wall till one of them passes by. Assuming nobody is looking we can then ghost him, shapeshift, and take his place for the time being. Then we can maneuver to a position where we can take the most of them out with our opening attack.
>>2053527>>2053535>>2053536Should we look for their escape vehicle? Maybe sabotage it, or ambush them in it?
>>2053527Supporting this. Hostage crisis is never good.
>>2053514Crawl through the ceiling all the way to the back wall where the two thugs are drilling, take them out, hopefully the sound will be dampened by the drill.Web them to the ceiling and camouflage yourself while you wait for someone to check what the hold up is.Take HIM out and web him to the ceiling, then move for the main force.Through the ceiling we use our reflexes to shoot webbing in rapid fire and disable as many guns as possible as we drop down and take the leader down and proceed to take out the rest of the thugs fast, starting with any that may still be armed. If that fails, use our creepy appearance and lack of notoriety to bluff being a startup villain about to take the score from them, this way they might drop any notions that we are interested in the hostages and might not try to use them as leverage.
>>2053547Changing to>>2053527Also in addition, once we foil their escape we should take a little bit of the cash for ourselves.Nobody is gonna notice and it's not like we don't deserve a reward for throwing ourself in harm's way.
>>2053551Nah, one of them could slip away before they make for the car. We need to keep eyes on them at all times, now that we have them.
>>2053561Definately take a bit of money for ourselves lol.
>>2053557This sounds like a solid approach.

>>2053514Turning to the nearby pillar you pressed your palm to it, making sure you were adhered to it you began to slowly crawl to the ceiling. You were thankful that many of the gangsters were more concerned about the doorway than the roof as you continued from the pillar towards the flat ceiling. Looking over the two groups, you decide to push for the people drilling into the vault first; The loud screeching of the drill no doubt muffling anything you could attempt to do. As they continue to drill you have no idea if they are getting close, but given the fact that it was an automated process as far as you could tell you would have the drop.Literally. Willing yourself to ‘unstick’ from the ceiling you land near silently, your body pressing into the ground and your suit absorbing the shock. Darting forward you grab the two thugs before quickly cracking their heads together before webbing them together and taking the bundle straight to the roof, sticking it firmly in the corner. Looking down you’re thankful that your prediction was right, no one heard a peep as you took the operators out. That’s when the window above the doors shattered, and things went crazy. You knew the shape, the billowing cape and yellow and black symbol and long eared cowl. And so did the thugs as they began to open fire at the diving figure as it disappeared into a billowing plume of smoke.>Fuck Fuck FUCK what do we do!?>A. High Tail it out of there!>B. However seeing the plume of smoke and one of the bodies flying out of it, you decide to play hero, if only in front of the resident Guardian of Gotham. Taking of towards the plume you end up flipping over a second body as it is sent careening from the darkness before finally adding yourself into the fray. You barely managed to weave out of the way of a poorly thrown haymaker before responding by webbing the offender's hand to his other shoulder, tripping him for good measure. You aren’t sure of how many thugs end up incapacitated by your webs and strikes but like a thunderbolt your senses scream and you act as fast as you can, bending backwards beyond what you thought possible as a gauntleted arm swipes the space you used to be in.
