Journal Entry #40

I'm not quite sure how I should feel about all this. It's like a great task, far too heavy for me to bear, has suddenly been thrust upon me.

How am I supposed to help an entire race? Save the world? Stop the Ceer? That all seems so
Hi I'm Tali and I'm a huge nerd and writing in a book instead of cuddling with my girlfrien
Ignore that, Journal, that was Vaisi.

I'll report back later. There's a class meeting.

>Tali sits with his class. Vaisi and Ceera are sitting close by and the room looks... As empty as usual. Unlike the bustling Root class or the rowdy Thorn, Petal class is more subdued. It's a comfy atmosphere but it makes all the chairs and food set out seem a little sad.

>Vendal goes to the stage and clears her throat before speaking.

"Greetings, everyone! Thank you all for coming. As you know, Petal Class has, historically, received the least amount of funding out of all three classes. This is not out of malice, but merely because we have the least amount of students out of all the classes. The call to heal and restore others doesn't appeal to everyone. However! Thanks to our dear Tali winning the blessing of Lady Minia we have a new surge of funding! So, I am pleased to announce that Petal Class is going on another field trip! We are going to see more of the world and learn of the healing arts of other people."

Come on, Ceera's dick isn't ~that~ big.

Yet.
>>
Field trip? But where?
>>

>field trip
Honestly I hope Tali actually learns something the normal way instead of accidentally stumbling upon long-lost ruins and adventuring.

Tali. Keep an eye out for magic involving fertility.

"Now... Normally I would have us take another trip to my homeland, where the greatest healers in all the world are found... But, some people have insisted that we diversify..."

>Lan grins.

"Soooo.. We will be going to the Aelor homelands, The White Desert... So, I ask you all to pack up just some normal supplies. Rations, survival gear, potions of healing, sunscreen, desert cloaks... We'll meet back here in an hour and head off. So, see you all soon!"

Oh man. I've never actually been to the White Desert. What kinda stuff should I bring? The way Vendal says it, it feels like we're going to be in some kinda extreme situation.
>>
>>2047398
>What kinda stuff should I bring?
Dragons. Go find Ryuko and ask if we can bring Fael and Miika and Gal and Shen.
>>
>>2047393
>Tali. Keep an eye out for magic involving fertility.
That won't help, unfortunately. Ceer bodies are immune to magic.

Wait, could a magical device still operate ~inside~ a Ceer's body? That could be an avenue of development worth exploring.
>>
>>2047398
Undine are racist against Aelor for a variety of reasons. Elemental opposition and all that, like how Ceer hate everyone and how Humans hate Elves. Pack the supplies she recommends, wear white clothing and ask Lan if we're going to be going anywhere near her family.

Also, tell Avery to like a lava flow while we're there. Tell him it's totally how Aelor become better at making friendships.
>>
>>2047398
She made her advice Tali, get said stuff.
>>
>>2047398
Have you literally never been in a desert before, Tali?
You're gonna burn hotter than the sun. If Ceera comes with, you definitely need to cover her and yourself up with a cloak. Make sure you apply sunscreen on her body vigirously~
>>
>>2047398
Bring plenty of water, and see if you can’t learn a cooling spell other than create ice cream.

>>2047407
I meant relating to the surrogate mother not rejecting the weird fetus.
>>
>>2047398
Deserts are great for sunbathing, so bring some swimsuits again.

Also, boots, and sunglasses, masks (the kind that lets you breath in dangerous places), condoms, aaaaaand probably something to fend off giant sand worms.
>>
Also ask ort big sister, what she recommends. Lets hang out with her on this Trip a little, would love if she got more screentime.
>>
>>2047398
You might want to create a spell to cool yourself in general, though if you wanna get greedy, you could make it an AOE and charge people to get into the area that has this, this, this specially conditioned air.
>>
>>2047398
Water. Lots of water. Or a water purification system if you can get one. It's the most important part of the metabolism.

Also wear clothing that covers your body to keep the sun off of your skin, but not too heavy so you don't overheat. Maybe a mask could help, along with some darkened glasses to keep the sun from damaging your eyes.

You might also want some antivenom for any common venomous animals.

I'm not really sure what to bring. I don't know a lot about elf biology or about what the White Desert is actually like. You'll want to do some research beforehand.
>>
>>2047398
Get better at crafting spells and you won’t have to worry about being unprepared.

Study gods damnit.
>>
>>2047398
Actually, it would be nice to check if you have a create water spell, that would make that part easier at least
>>

>>2047398
A bodyguard. You need it elf.

Why not ask Avery. He's a good friend. He's protect you.
>>
>>2047424
I dont think its just some Kind of "common" rejection that would be going on there. It probably has more to do with the Baby beeing pure void and the mother beeing Element infused, fertility magic isn't really an answer. More like a umbilical cord Element Filter or something. At least if I understood you correctly.
>>
>>2047459
Honestly unless we can get tali to read his version of “grey’s anatomy” to us, we’re sort of firing shots in the dark here.
>>
>>2047398
Does it matter what you pack? You're so damn noodly than you can barely carry anything either way.
>>
>>2047398

Bring a mirror. A flame and a reflective surface can be used to signal people from miles away in case you need rescue! It can also be used in dicey situations to peer around corners and under doors, and perhaps foil spells that require direct eyesight to take effect.

Maybe you should check at the 50-cent store if she has any warded tents or magical collapsible shelters around, too? If it's too hot to travel in the day or too cold at night, some kind of tent or magical pocket-home would be invaluable for survival.

Other than that, the usual water creation spells or magical water dispensers should also be good choices.

Hey, guys, remember when I said I'm just a 17 year old guy and -don't- wanna engage in breeding experiments?

Well that still holds true!

"<Tali, where are you looking?>"

>>
>>2047500
Are you saying you don't wanna impregnate Ceera right now?
What are you some sort of pussy, Tali?
>>
>>2047448
>>2047490
Creating water might have its uses, but magic takes energy and creating something from nothing takes a ~lot~ of energy; it's not something we could rely on in an emergency. On the other hand, a Purify Water spell would be very useful, maybe with Control Water and Remove Poison runes or some variant of that.

>>2047424
>>2047459
One additional problem is that Ceer are weak and sickly due to the lack of elemental forces in their bodies. What if we used a system to partially infuse a fetus or the mother with an element if they're growing too weak to survive, and drain it out later if they're at risk of changing species?
>>
>>2047500
Tali go find your dragon and invite her on this trip to her homeland.

Iiiiii'm... Not sure I can bring dragons. I don't think that's on the list of approved things. Especially not massive dragons like Galorialum. And Fael is still kinda hard to control. I'm not sure what would happen if I brought her over there.

I might lose her... Like a puppy let off it's leash or something.

>>2047455

>>2047490

Alright, I'll pack up the stuff she mentioned and make sure to get plenty of water. And water related spells...

Water is pretty heavily emphasized. I've never been in the desert myself. I've been to the elf lands, undine area... I guess technically humans?

The desert will be a new one.

>>2047430
>Tali approaches the Aelor. She smiles when she sees him approach.

"Hey, Tali. You excited for the trip?"

"Kinda, yeah. I've never had a chance to see The White Desert except in books so it'll be interesting. But I was wondering if you had any advice on what to bring."

>Her smile widens.

"I could get you all dressed up if you want. And we can visit the store. I've had to bring plenty of humans into the desert so I know what kinda stuff they need to be comfortable."
>>
>>2047500

Tali, you're pretty much plugging your Ceer girlfriend and/or Vaisi every other day. Even if you proclaim that you aren't doing any sort of Ceer/Elemental hybridizing experiments, I think that your habits and dong-habits would suggest otherwise.

>>2047567

Accept Lan's offer. She's probably going to give you lots of baggy and flowing clothing to help create insulating pockets of air around you to keep you cool.

Unless Aelor are all extremophiles and pretty much dress however the fuck they want because they aren't bothered by much of any natural environment.
>>
>>2047567
Oh man, look forward to drinking your own piss in the suit she puts you in.
>>
>>2047567
Tali, it's fine. I mean, Fael has never seen the White Desert before, but she's expected to go there to die.
This could be a bonding experience between you and her and get her use to hanging out with your friends.

Bring your dragon, dammit.
>>
>>2047567
You need light, transparent clothes and lots of jewelry and keep your navel exposed
>>
>>2047567
I’m not trying to get you a kid, I’m trying to get you to be able to help other Ceer/Elemental couples have kids. Besides, it’s just theorycrafting so far.

Hey, is there a more racially sensitive nickname I can call you than knife-ears?
>>

>>2047583

>>2047580

>>
>>2047567
Suggest that you had an elvish upbringing and so that might be more comfortable preparing as an elf does.

Or confess that you're secretly an elf boy to her so you don't die of dehydration on your first day.
>>
>>2047567
Well, the two most significant dangers in the desert are the intense sunlight and lack of resources.

Here's an idea. Could you bind the Reverse rune to the Water rune to make a sort of "Not-Water" rune? We could make a Purify Water spell with Bind Water (to keep it in one place) and Lift/Remove Not-Water.
>>
>>2047567
You should take her up on that offer, she probably knows the place better than anyone else in Petal.
>>
Just to be on the Safe side, have Elfs different needs than humans? Like are they more sensitive to Sun Exposure or need to be watered more often?
>>
>>2047626
Tali is brown, he's more resistant to the sun.
>>
>>2047626

"That would be great. Uhm... I was uh... Kinda raised near elf lands. So that's what I'm most comfortable with. So if we could get something that would make an elf happy that would be great."

"Of course~ Come on, this is one area your big sis can help you out on. It feels like it's been forever since I've been able to do anything for you."

>She grabs Tali's hand and takes him to a school store. After some haggling with the shopkeep, Tali comes away with a cloak that will almost certainly keep him from overheating. It comes with a hood to help protect his elf ears. The elf ears that only he can see.

"So that's what we wear when we travel. Aelor can withstand the desert normally but there's sometimes pockets of extreme heat or vicious sandstorms. We'll be avoiding all that for the trip so you should be fine. Now... That's just what we wear when we travel, wanna try on some traditional Aelor clothing?"

>She hands Tali a small whistle.

"Dragons hate the noise that thing makes." She says, "So it might keep them away. But, if you use it too much they'll just burn you to a crisp instead. Or spit poison at you. Same thing, really."

"You want me to go with you to The White Desert..?" She looks around. "Well... I was going to nap on my hoard all day but... I will go. Then you and me can fight the magma dragon there and lay claim to the entire land. It will be fun, Tali."

"... I could use some new items. I've already licked all of these. Very well. Make me like a puny human person, Tali."

"Tada! Now I look as weak and puny as any other human!"

"... You look pretty adorable like that, actually."

"... I will overlook this once, Tali, but I am not adorable. I am a fearsome dragon."

"An adorably fearsome dragon?"

"...... Acceptable."

"Taliii~ Look what your dutiful girlfriend got you~ Desert clothing to keep your precious, soft, elf skin intact! And I even got you native clothing from the-"

"I'm already wearing that." Tali says, interrupting her while opening his cloak.

"You will not lay a hand on my rider!"

Fael's nowhere near here. All I see is sand as far as I can see.... And some ponds off to the east.

>Tali tries to use his earring but all he gets is static.

Okay, can't call for help...

>Tali reaches for his spellbook. He still has that and all the supplies he brought with him. That should keep him comfortable for a few days at least. Vendal really planned for the worst, like she knew something this bad could happen.

"Okay... This is okay. We don't have anyone else around us but at least we have our supplies."

Well, most of them. Looks like I lost the air controlled tent that I'd packed. Still, more than enough food and water... How bad is the desert at night?

"Tali..."

>Tali looks at Lan. She appears stricken and pale.

"I lost my artifact... I don't know where it went..."

Oh, geeze, I've never seen her like this before.

"It's okay, Lan. We'll find it and the others. I just..."

"I didn't even drink before we came here. I haven't been sober in so long..." She scans the horizon. "No landmarks..."

>The Aelor closes her eyes and sniffs the air.

"Okay... I can smell some Aelor not too far from here... And an undine but very far from here... It'll probably be night by the time we reach them, if we don't move. The undine, that is... I can survive the travel, which would you be more comfortable with?"
>>
>>2048574
Get the Undine! They won't survive long in the desert, Tali!
Also, see if you can make an alcohol spell for Lan, this is bad.
>>
>>2048574
Okay Tali, you think you can whip up a quick detox spell? She's going through withdrawal, and from the looks of it a fairly severe one. Make sure she stays at the same temperature, no flaring or rapid cooling, and hope you made that water spell before you came, because we're gonna need it.
>>
>>2048574
I think Vendal stranded you here on purpose.

As a healer, our first priority is seeing to the ill and wounded. Right now, that means looking after Lan; severe alcohol withdrawal can be debilitating or even fatal, but I don't see any runes which we could combine to represent alcohol. We'll just have to be careful and help with her symptoms.

Next we should worry about the undine that's near here; she might be injured and need our help. If the aelor are in a group, then they could look after each other, but a lone undine could be in severe trouble.
>>
>>2048604
her gourd itself probably had the alchohol rune on it, or a combo that made it. so probably that Z looking shape in the middle, bottom looks like water. so this thing probably says something like "convert water to alchohol"
>>
>>2048574
Aelor. They're more likely to have alcohol. The undine is almost certainly a student.
>>
>>2048574
Time to be a petal Tali. Learn the alcohol tune from her and get spellcrafting for a detox spell.

I swear to god if she did this on purpose I will not be a happy elf...

But first...

>A 'Convert Water to Alcohol' spell is beyond simple to make. Tali turns one of his water rations into a bottle of alcohol. He hands it over to Lan.

"Tali..." She takes the bottle and takes a sip. "Hey, I'm sorry if I uh... Worried you. Don't worry about me, though, okay? I can survive without alcohol. You can't survive without water. So, keep the rest of your rations."

"Alright. But in the meantime I'm going to be working on a detox spell."

"Detox spell?"

"Yeah. You know, to make sure you get everything out of your system in case we run out."

".... We'll leave that as a last resort. I haven't had alcohol in me since I was 12. So... Last resort..."

..
I don't think this is healthy.

I'm not sure if I can tell her that, though. She seems functional for the most part, even if she drinks constantly.

"Alright. Let's go after that undine then. I'm not sure how long they could survive in the desert."

"Yeah, they tend to be pretty squishy." She takes another drink. "You sure you'll be okay to walk all the way over there?"

"Yeah. How hard could it be?"

>>
>>2048636
I should have thought of this earlier, but you could use a Pull Water spell to collect the sweat that leaves your body. We'd need to add a spell to cool it down, though, before you drink it again.

Also, don't you have spells for flying? Or is that not practical for long-term travel?

How about Convert Heat to Reverse-Gravity? The hotter it gets, the lighter you get, and you'll be cooled off too! But maybe add a cutoff function so it only starts when you're warm and stops when you're cold, so you don't end up freezing yourself by accident.
>>
>>2048627
>how can some place be so hot....
It's so hot because there aren't any plants here! Water takes more energy to heat up than air or rock, so in most places all of the water in the plants, the ground (which is held there with help of the plants), and the air (which evaporates from the ground and plants) keep the environment from heating too much during the day and cooling too much at night. But since there aren't any plants here, there's no water, either, which means there isn't anything stopping it from getting deathly hot during the day and freezing cold at night. Isn't science fun?

>I'm going to die if I keep going.
For the heat situation there's not much to be done other than turn the ground into cold water and use magic to keep yourself cool.

You know, walking seems really inefficient, given the whole magic thing. Flying's probably a bit of a waste of mana, given the need to fight gravity, but maybe you could make a magically propelled sled or wagon? Or a boat, if you don't mind wasting mana and want to travel in style.

If you're really desperate, then you might also be able to amplify the sound of your whistle enough to get a dragon's attention...
>>
>>2048636

Now, then, what I want you to do is use a spell to convert sand into glass (Lan probably has the rune for glass). You are going to make a flat bottom boat. Then you just need to cast propel object on it.
>>
>>2048724

Note, for the boat, you may need to have Lan riding shotgun and casting a reinforcement spell on the glass while you steer the ship. Tempered glass is surprisingly strong.

Sadly, I don't think that will work. Fleshcrafting, like other magic, runs heavily on intention. Much like how the parasite Undine can't just make simple "water to human body" spells, no fleshcraft will really work without the user having a good understanding of what the thing they're making actually is. Otherwise you'll end up with a dragon that's just solid fat all the way through or something because you didn't picture the organs.
>>
>>2050009

Dragons were created by the demi-god of Fire, using humans and several other animals as a base and just adding a metric fuckton of fire.

The result is a flaming lizard skeleton that can put on a human shell. Most dragons tend to lounge around with the shell on to avoid burning/melting/disintegrating their hoard or the land around them.

Sometimes they'll transform back to their dragon form just to 'stretch'.

Also, creating life out of nothingness is insanely difficult and might be against divine law. Even fleshcrafters like Kuro know that making an entire body is damn near impossible. It's also why Holly, despite being a fantastic healer, fucked up healing her throat. She has vast knowledge of the human body but stitching back severed body parts requires a bit of finesse.

Alright, smile back. I guess I'm just super happy about dying...

Though, you guys do have a good idea. Why the hell are we walking? We have MAGIC!
And I have a gem with damn near limitless mana.

"Lan, I think... We need some kinda sand boat. Can you make one?"

"I don't have my spellbook or anything but.. I'll see what I can do."

>Tali flips through his book. There it is, propel target. A simple spell that should keep anything gliding through the sand so long as he has the mana for it.

Now, we just need a-

"Done." Lan says, as she displays what looks like a craft made out of sandstone and glass.

"How did you make that so fast?"

"When I was a kid we used to make things like these all the time. We used them for sledding down dunes. This one is just bigger than what I normally used. I crushed the sand together and heated it with my internal fire til it melted. I won't be able to make anything like this again for the rest of the day but it should be enough."

"It's perfect."

2/3
>>
>>2053492
man, if we had a sail we wouldn't even NEED magic.
Fuck that though, we're wizards.

Wait, isn't a sled made entirely out of glass extremely dangerous to anyone who isn't as tough as an aelor?
Nah, I'm worrying too much. Right tali?
>>
>>2053492
Remember to use your staff too Tali, and stand on the bow while you do it, you'll look cool and cut the mana consumption something fierce.
>>
>>2053502
We should be fine, Tali's a dragon rider and this glass was a dragon at one point in time.

Oooh, that's a good idea.

>The pair hop into the makeshift craft. It feels fairly durable, if a little warm. Tali pulls out his staff and mana gem and casts the spell, amending it to take energy from the gem rather than him.

>The craft takes off, easily tripling their speed over the shifting sands. By pouring a bit more mana into the spell they can go even faster, and Tali can feel cool, if dry, air blowing past him.

>Lan undoes her cloak and sets it off to the side, the Aelor still hasn't even broken a sweat.

"I gotta admit," She says, "I never considered this. My people don't usually use this for traveling. We just run everywhere."

"How can you run in a place like this?"

"It's because of the fire inside of all of us. It only gets stronger when we're in this place. I feel like I could rip stone in half with my bare hands right about now. I imagine you probably don't feel like that, though."

"I do not."

I feel better but I felt really nauseous back there.

"That's fine." Lan sniffs the air. "We're getting closer to that undine. We're perhaps a few hours off."

"Good. I can only imagine what they must be going through right now."

"Well, they don't smell dead at least. Undine rot pretty quickly when they die here.... Bit morbid, sorry." She drums her fingers along the side of the boat. "So, Tali, have you decided what it is you want to master in the school? We're over the halfway point for the school year. Though, it's okay if you still don't have anything."

"I don't know." She says with a shrug, "I never really looked into that kinda thing. I imagine the headmistress might. But she'd never want to try and tamper with such a thing. We'll have to find out before we get back, though. Otherwise we'll have to deal with us getting tossed about while in the school. Last thing we need is for someone to end up off the edge without their spellbook."

"I still don't get why the school has to be in the air. The Sons of Serin just have theirs on the ground. Like normal people."

"Oh? Have you been there before?" Lan looks at Tali with interest.

"Mhmm... It was the greatest Aelor homeland. It had the greatest amount of Four Armed Aelor. Those who have the flame burning brightly within them. Perhaps they were just closer to the True Flame, the primordial fire that made us all. But they had some of the greatest Aelor warriors there.

Then, some time ago, the god Asam crushed them all. We still don't know why but... He kinda had a habit of destroying the greatest cities a race has. No one has lived there since.

We Aelor are actually quite adept at farming even these arid sands but nothing grows in Bos. Not even the simplest of weeds. And there's no water nearby, all undine artifacts fail. When Asam destroys a place he doesn't half-ass it."

"Are you okay? Did you uhm... Know anyone from here?"

"Hmm? Oh, no no. I'm from Lan, not Bos. It's just... My people have had to fight for everything we've got. We've made a nice little life for ourselves in these deserts. And this city was the best thing we'd ever built, with our own two hands, even.

And then some god came and tore it all down. How are we even supposed to fight that? A lot of four arms died that day. So... I don't know. It's kinda like if one of your Voror got torn down.

That's not racist, is it?"

>Tali nearly tears up at the thought.

"Well... This seems like a place we should avoid. What with it being blighted and all that.

...

The undine's in there, aren't they?"

"Yep~!"

>They arrive at Bos. The city looks like it was probably a bustling center of trade. Wide streets lined with the tattered remains of stalls and dilapidated houses. Wide roads, paved with sandstone, web through the eroded buildings.

>The heat is nearly unbearable, even with magic taking in as much as it can. Whatever curse this land is suffering from is stronger than the magics Tali can muster. Even Lan is sweating.

"Nice, isn't it? The place, I mean. Not the deathly heat."

>She sniffs the air again.

"The undine was here." She says, "But I think they might have moved underground to get to some shelter. There's the well... The coliseum... Some of the bigger buildings have storage cellars underground. Do you think we should split up? Time is of the essence here."

Hello to you as well. You have a much gruffer voice.

Leviathans are interesting, though. They're basically giant undine, so big that they can't even leave the sea without collapsing from their own weight.

>>2054735
Oh, why thank you! You are... Spherical.

>>2054787

>Tessa breathes in deep. She has to calm herself.

"Hey, what's that?"

>Lan looks behind Tessa. There is a long tunnel that is dark but seems to have been cut in by hand.

"I don't know. I didn't really want to go exploring in case I got more lost."

"... I wanna explore it. I didn't know there was a tunnel in the well here."

"It could be really dangerous in there."

"There's not a living soul in the entire land besides us three. How bad could it be?"

Oh dear... It's so hard to argue with Lan when she puts her mind on something. I'd really rather not go down that spooky tunnel.

Hey, you guys give advice, right? How can I convince her to not go down the scary dark tunnel?
>>
>>2054798
You don't, stop being an octopussy, Tessa.
>>
>>2054798
Um, well, the alternative is to bring you back to the super hot surface and try to boat out of the cursed area before you dry out and die.

So do you want to go through the oven, or the darkness? Lan is pretty strong, and Tali has some inherent magical ability she could use in an emergency. I want to explore the darkness, personally. The surface is just boring featureless desert for miles.
>>
>>2054798

>>
>>2054806
Also that you are all out of your water and that your artifacts aren't working and you don't know why.
She'll have to explain to you the shit she explained to tali, which will give her time to rethink her actions. note: this may result in the same actions.
>>
>>2054798

>>
>>2054798
You'll die if you go up.

You might find an aquifer if you go down.

And Lan has the power of the desert coursing through her veins right now. She'll keep you safe.

And hey, maybe you'll be able to grow closer to that cutie honey Tali? She's kind of a wimp so she might want you to hold her hand for reassurance...
>>
Welp, over here it's past 3am on a work day so this specific voice is going to go pass out. Here's hoping nothing's too fucked up by the time I come back!
>>
>>2054798
We're alone, low on resources, in the middle of a desert, and one of us is injured. This is not the time for exploring, this is a time to regroup and recover. It's interesting, but we can come back some other day when we're better prepared. Right now we need to prioritize finding out what happened to the other students.

Speaking of which, we're as in the dark as you right now. We were supposed to all arrive in a group, but Tali and Lan showed up together in the middle of the desert with no one else around. We're trying to reach civilization and piece together what happened, but we decided to come to you first because Lan smelled a lone undine and we thought you might be in trouble.

>>
>>2054798

See, common misconception. We give 'advice', but no one said anything about 'good' advice. In this case, I'd like to point out that the well may be the best place for you to recover your strength. The top of the city is a hellscape and the desert further beyond isn't a picnic, either.

Have Lan grab the noodly bimbo up top who, I might add, has natural comfy magic that the fuckery field can't mess with. After that, drink some water, calm down, and then think about why Lan wants to explore deeper inside the well.

Remember, Lan is an Aelor, and this city is a place of historic loss and tragedy for her people. She may be looking for answers here, and you may not want to deny her at least the attempt.

Well... I'm not sure how bad it is outside but if it's worse than down here... We can stay for a moment longer. At least until I rehydrate.

>Tessa takes another drink of water. She wasn't aware how thirsty she was. The undine body is not built to be in areas of low humidity. Doubly so for areas with 0 humidity.

"We should probably get Tali. I don't want to leave her up there."

>Lan nods, walks over to the opening of the well, and leaps into the air.

>She jumps back down, Tali in her arms.

"Got her." She says. Tali looks shaken. "Now, let's do some exploring~!"

>>2056398
I do understand why she wants to explore... If I got a chance I would explore Dres.

I'm amazed we're in Bos, though. I thought the place was completely wiped out. The buildings are damaged but... Well, Dres was sunk so there's nothing to see unless you go under the water.

I figured this place would be buried under sand.

>Lan casts a spell to conjure an orb of light. It fizzles out and fails completely.

"Ah, right, no magic..." She peers into the darkness. "I can kinda see something at the end. Stay right behind me."

>She heads deeper into the tunnel. It's nearly four minutes of walking before the tunnel suddenly opens into a yawning cavern.

>A totem of sorts is in the center, glowing with a purple light.

"That's just like the teleportation crystals." Tali says.

Oh, she's right. They do glow just like that.

"I'm gonna touch it." Lan says

"W-what!? No! You can't!"

"Oh? You wanna touch it?"

"No! No one should touch that! We don't know what it does."

>Lan is staring at it. Tessa senses she's going to touch it regardless.

>>
>>2059812
Warn Lan that it might be hypnotizing her into touching it so it can do something dangerous. A big sister shouldn't put people in danger. We can hold off until we know more about this thing.

Ask Tali if she knows what it is. She has experience with weird magical things like this, so she might have some advice.

Actually, let's see if we can do something.

Other Orbs: Scan weird magical totem. Assess threat level.
>>
>>2059812
Check the plaque first. This stone might be what's causing no water and no magic. If so messing with it might make things go boom.
>>
>>2059849
>Warn Lan that it might be hypnotizing her into touching it so it can do something dangerous.
It's just her being curious and impulsive, like a good aelor should be.

"Lan, we can't touch it. But we should also probably read what that thing in front of it says."

"Ah, right. Okay."

>As they approach the massive totem, they note that the sand around it feels... Cold. It's grains are much finer than the surrounding sand.

>Approaching the plaque, Tessa can make out carvings on it.

"... That's not common." She says.

"They look like they were carved in by hand." Tali says. All the more impressive considering the plaque is enormous compared to them.

"It's in an old Aelor script. I can't read it myself."

"The first letter is 'I'." Tessa says.

"It is?"

"Mhmm. It looks similar to the one Undine used to have. They probably shared a similar writing system some time ago."

The rest I can't even begin to read. But I wonder if it shares more similarities with old undine script.

"Oh, sure." Tali replies, as if that is a perfectly normal thing to ask him. ".... He says he doesn't read inferior script."

"I see...."

>>2059926

Certainly~

As you can see, old Undine script used to be pretty complicated! What we call vowels used to be an accent to letters which, in theory, resulted in shorter writing! However, Undine script was pretty flowery.

Also, double letters would get represented with a strike through a letter.

Certain sounds like gh or th had the characters combined.

I hope this lesson was insightful!

>>
>>2059966
Okay, let's see if I can make some progress in deciphering this. It looks like...

I P+omite
I will come y+c+

I'm guessing that little wedge on its own is an "e" from context. Those things that look like plus signs might be different because they're at different angles, and the last one is apparently a consonant while the other two are vowels.

Does that help.

Or comfy, I guess. But you can't just use generic comfy, that would take too long.

Think about why it's here. It's guarding that crystal, which has a sign from someone promising to come back. A friend of the dragon's, maybe? Maybe even a rider. Someone really important to it, anyway, judging by how long it must have been waiting here. Use that. In addition to the generic sleepiness, you should also try to summon the feeling of being with that friend. It should make the spell stronger.

Either way, though, stop using the whistle. You probably should have only done it once, if at all.

"That dragon won't stop. They're very stubborn... I'm gonna try and stop it."

"Tali, no!" Tessa and Lan both say.

"It's okay. I'm really good at talking to dragons. Also..." He goes invisible. "I have this artifact. The dragon won't be able to see me at all."

"Then make us invisible too." Lan says.

"It would be easier if it was just me. We'd triple the chances of getting caught if all three of us went."

"... Alright. But keep that whistle on you and come right back."

>Tali nods and walks into the tunnel. He gets about halfway before he realizes that another breath of fire from that thing would cook him in the tunnel.

I couldn't understand what it was saying when it was talking to Tessa but it sounded like Ceeraaaaaaaaaaaaaholy shit.

>The dragon is staring at him from the tunnel...

>His heart stops.

>Then, it looks away from him. It wasn't staring at him, but through him. It seems that it can't see past his glamour.

What kind of dragon was that? Plasma?

Can you flood the tunnel with Comfy magic? If it was a glamor, that would pacify the caster.

If that doesn't work, then shout down the tunnel "Who promised they'd come back? Do you need me to find somebody for you?"

Uhh.. Apologize for using the whistle and ask if you could talk without it trying to murder and/or drain you and us?
>>
>>2060422
Ask who is it waiting for.
>>
>>2060422
uhhh tali, congratulations, you just found the first ceerified dragon. Prepare your bootyhole.
>>
>>2060422
Holy shit, Tali
Calm down
Can't you call for Fael? We really need her.
>>
>>2060422
poke it in the eye

kiss and do lewd things to the dragon.

Look if this dragon is a void, its like a ceer. And ceera crumpled pretty damn fast to lewdness.

So much for those being impossible. I'm surprised the glamour's working on it. It's probably exceptionally vulnerable to comfy, though, if you decide to try that. Seduction should work, too, as long as it's not somehow already in a committed relationship.

If it's a ceer, it may be vulnerable to comfy.
>>
>>2060454
good point, try to subtly comfy the dragon here tali. remember SUBTLE. unlike your sexcapades you scamp!
>>
>>2060422
Get out of its line of sight! It can drain mana with its vision!

Or, try saying something in Ceer language! Like, "Why are you in this place?"
>>
>>2060422
Use a ventriloquism spell next to its head.
"So, a ceer dragon? I thought dragons died when they turned, but your eyes give that away.

Who promised they would return?"
>>
>>2060463
I'm assuming your natural glamour can do that, Tali, otherwise can't do spells here. But if you do say this, say it in Ceer.
>>
>>2060426
>>2060463
If we ask about who promised they'd return, we should mention that they must be pretty great for a dragon to wait so long for them.
>>
>>2060468
...are we all thinking "Ceer dragonrider" here?
