A long hall is quiet, the large structure containing it is simply too huge to let any of its various ambient noises intrude upon the silence. Until the door slams open, the sunset looming through the portal as you carry in a large, black bag roughly large enough for a small person to fit in. You trudge down the hallway, a large gash running down your leg oozing blood, untreated in your haste. A few people in nice, white outfits rush forwards saying...things you cannot hear from behind your paper mask, too dizzy from blood loss. Some of them take the bag from you, while one that might have glasses on, unclear in the blur, helps carry you towards one of many doors. Small bits of recollection start to pass through your mind.

You can remember a battle, but maybe that’s a bit generous to you considering your present state. It had just been practice in the woods with a dummy, and you figured you should practice aiming with a mask if you want to eventually be competitive for Chunin. Sure, you only just got out of the academy, but you have a lot to prove. Then someone actually thought you were the real deal.

Next thing you know, you’re here at the hospital. Who attacked y-

The dizziness intensifies until the person holding on does something and it clears up a bit. They’re a shinobi of the Village Hidden in the Leaves, under the reign of the Third Hokage, you manage to recall. Naoko, one of the older medical-nin in the hospital and a family friend, anything else slips from your mind like a wet bar of soap. She finishes laying you down onto a bed and begins treating the wound.

“Be glad you know who isn’t in today, he’s been trying to pick up some more advanced medical techniques and let’s just say that he isn’t a fan of anesthesia.” She removes the paper mask and you try to sit up and respond, but nothing comes out. You get the feeling she means the Sannin she didn’t learn from, sending shivers down your spine. Even if they were rumors, the other Genin had said some crazy stuff about him.

Who did attack you? It’s peaceful, Konoha isn’t at war with anyone and the Second Ninja War has been over for some time now so who could have thought you were ANBU and attacked? Was it a Missing-Nin? Are you poisoned?! Did they put you under a Genjutsu and now you’re a double agent?! Trusting your own memory says none of these are true, but that’s exactly what a double agent would think!

A small lock of hair curls over your eye. “Calm down-

Have the whole thing I forgot while I write.

Welcome to Shinobi Support Quest, a dumb idea I made after realizing that every single Naruto quest MC has dead parents. This quest can be expected to be quite a bit more toned down than saving the Leaf Village, or wiping out scores of enemies, or even being a prodigy. You are an average Genin in the interim between the Second and Third Wars, one who, as evidenced by their condition, isn’t even good at fighting. To make up for this shortcoming though, you are an extremely skilled ninja in a niche specialty, and your home life can help push you forward with Connections. Connections can be used as a back pocket “I need to do this, for ___!” in order to provide bonuses to rolls. Using them too often has consequences, be warned.

Shinobi Support, surprise, has you take the role of a more supportive Shinobi type. Don’t expect to be in constant fights, rushing through the Chunin exams, or constantly encountering legendary figures. The world is at relative peace for now, but things may take a turn soon.

At present, your Type is the only thing affecting you, giving you your base skills. There will be more votes to determine upbringing. Keep in mind that the effects of your upbringing can stack to increase the power of your Type-given traits.
>>
Walking out from the hospital a few hours of rest later with your bag in tow, the world looks bleak. The puppet in your bag with the dummy, it’s all pieces and bits! A few small tears catch from your eyes in the evening light as you think about this, you spent so long making it, it had been there through everything and now it had even broken itself to save you. You’ll fix it, but now it’s saved your life the connection is there. Steeling yourself, you walk forward.

Even in the Academy, you were never exceptional, you even ranked worst in your class in Taijutsu and that class had fucking Sawako in it. Only thing that made you stand out was how little you cared about the big, flashy jutsu other students loved. They always made fun of you, especially after you turned down the Nature test to focus on your puppetry, but that’s where they all made a mistake. As an engineer you were often considered a prodigy, making traps and gadgets nobody had even considered outside of the Sand, all culminating in your puppet. But there’s only so much you can do with wood and metal when you aren’t some rich noble, and not a lot of it’s useful to the Academy. You’re nobody special, you know that, but on a team? Well, you’re the person they’re going to be relying on to save their asses and they’ll realize how stupid they were to dismiss you.

The walk home leads you by the better part of town, where the clans make their homes. It’s annoying, especially the Nara. They don’t have to work half as hard for anything as you do, they can just puppet other people, no building or talent or skill required! Maybe it is a bit of sour grapes, but shouldn’t everyone have that right? If you’re not in a clan or some sort of freaky ninja killing machine, you can’t compete. The odds are stacked against people like you. They’d always tell you to go back to making dolls. Grinding your teeth, you force yourself onwards.

Entering the less well-off part of town brings you to a humble house with fresh paint and a nice, small wooden placard with your family name. Humble but comforting.

You get home and are immediately greeted by the aroma of...

The scent of baking wafts through the air, sweet and warm in the fading light. A humming can be heard from the kitchen and when you slam your bag down on the counter, it turns into a startled yelp. Footsteps come around the corner and your mom smiles through thick glasses. She can’t really be described as pretty, but there’s a practiced elegance to her movements.

“How was your day, Yoko?” She’s obviously baiting out the answer. She works in the same building you just spent the last half of your day being treated in, so you’d be surprised if she didn’t already know. Of course, there’s a division between shinobi care and civilian care so you never know.

“It was...terrible. I went out to practice and I thought that wearing a mask would make training worth more but then I got beaten up and they broke my puppet.” You regurgitate the words like bile, every one of them burns your throat and leaves you on the verge of tears again. Mom doesn’t stop smiling though, she never does. It helps, if only a little.

“You’re okay, that’s what matters sweetie. Oh! Dad said he’d be bringing home something you’d get a kick out of later. I can’t tell you, but he seemed excited.” Is it even a mystery? Mom told him about this now he’s bringing something to cheer you up. You’re not stupid. Still, it feels good to know that you’re being taken care of. Really, your day wasn’t that bad. It was your last day off until you actually start training with your team and you felt like you were making some good progress with your senbon. It was just the one thing that changed it to being bad. You’re going to have to stay up all night fixing the puppet, if you don’t nobody will ever believe you’re worth anything. Your mentor might even fail you back to the Academy! Sensing that you’re worried, Mom brings back a cookie.

“They’re still cooling, but this should be fine.” And your sweet tooth betrays you again. The second it’s under your nose you don’t feel half as bad. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that you’re not even an adult yet. “You’ll do fine, Yoyo, you’ll bounce back.” The nickname is a bit annoying, but it’s not nearly as annoying as anything else so it kind of does make you feel better.

You let out a sigh and start eating the warm cookie, very little sugar in it. “You didn’t have enough sugar for this, did you?” Mom shakes her head. This is why you need to be good. Your specialty isn’t cheap, it’s never going to be, so you owe it to her to be the best ninja ever! Feeling more fired up, you unzip the bag. Inside is…

The broken snake puppet was made to play on the other student’s fears about poison and the Sannin, Orochimaru. Have to exploit those rumors somehow. But that wasn’t its true purpose. It was made for speed and precision, then capture. The pressure it exerts by coiling could crush most people in less than a minute, and its mouth is lined with saw blades in addition to fangs. You’ve been working on a poison vaporizer to make it breathe poison, but that’s still a ways off. It also looks really cute around your shoulders so there’s that. The poor thing looks to be in surprisingly good condition actually, it was made with the intention of being easy to fix, just replace a few segments and reline the mouth and it should be good! This is going to be a cinch, between that and the cookie you’re over the moon.

Mom takes out some cold noodles for dinner, probably a gift from a patient, and begins serving them. You’re too focused on your puppet, every single detail, to notice. Mind swimming with ideas, you ponder what you would do with more materials. More heads, larger body, this one only takes two threads to control so you could have five of these cute little things on you if you were rich. The broken pieces come out easily and each small link is perfectly intact, it looked worse than it was. “How was work?” Small talk, always good to work out the mind by multitasking.

She laughs. “As good as it can be. Nobody came in stuck full of needles from a failed acupuncturist, so that’s good.” The short blonde hair you have gets in your eyes a bit until you push it away. Who would ever grow it out? Just asking to get yanked in a fight, gets in the way of building, no practical purpose. Stupid.

There’s a thumping on the porch outside the house as someone takes off their shoes, then opens the door, but looking up might mean you’ll mess up this connection. The spare link snaps in easily and then you do so. Dad’s a lot different from Mom, dour, serious, he looks tired with short black hair and baggy eyes. Still, appearances are deceiving. He sits down next to you and takes off a small roll from his bag.

“Yo. I found something you’ll like.” He smiles deviously and makes it clear who you got your talent from. Dad looks down at the snake and the smile drops, making him look actually sad before he opens up the bag. “I got you some parts, for that vaporizer you wanted to make. Can give you a hand if you want.”

His smile returns and something slips out of his coat.

Laughing in a slightly robotic manner, Dad slips the reagents back into his pocket. “Can you believe I got the parts from a new thing for clearing out the hood of gas? Using this for the exact opposite of what it’s supposed to do.” Mom puts out the noodles and Dad starts eating quickly. He’s always tired after work, but sniffing chemicals all day will do that to you. Still, someone has to do it and Dad’s the smartest person ever. Mom sits down as well and begins eating, giving him a kiss on the cheek as you finish the last screw in the puppet. Cheerfully you coil it around your shoulders and tuck in.

The noodles are okay. But it’s the simple fact that you can spend tonight with Dad, making some poisons and assembling that little machine, which makes today better. He’s always so busy so whenever he’s home you try your hardest to be nice. You know it’s because he’s trying to pay for your creations, but sometimes you wonder if he gets more joy out of helping with them. Dad puts a hand on your head and ruffles your short hair. That means he wants to work, and that’s exciting, so you finish dinner quickly.

There’s a lot of work to do before tomorrow. All your gear is up to snuff, you have your basic poisoned senbon, stamina, speed, bleed, and blind. Basics. But now you might get to show off what you’ve been working on on your own. Between what Mom taught you about the human body and what dad taught you about poisonmaking, the ideas are almost endless. “Thanks for dinner, Moriko. We’ll be in the workshop.” Dad gives Mom a kiss to return the one from before and you turn away. Ew. Playing with the puppet, you make two Chakra threads to its head and start moving it around, making it jabber in mock speech.

The workshop is a mess, and you spend the whole night with Dad putting together the vaporizer and your own special ingredient. Materials are limited, but making due with so little is half the fun. Poisonmaking is partially knowing the opponent’s body and partially knowing the poison’s effects, you have expertise in both. Smiling and letting loose a maniacal laugh, the final concoction is finished. Shortly after, you eat a cookie and go to bed, snuggling your snake plushie.

The next day, you wake up barely on time thanks to Mom and start putting together your clothes. Dark green, with a few dark purple stripes to round it out, a gift from Dad a few years ago that wicks away acids and such. The gloves on it are sort of your sense of style, everything needs an accessory. Speaking of, you tie the headband on your arm so it doesn’t ruin your hair, then wrap the snake around your shoulders to tie together the image you have. You think you look cute. Snakes are cute, short hair is cute, so you have to be cute. A belt along the inside of your jacket holds four vials of your normal poisons, and a hidden compartment in your bracelet has three vials of your special sauce. Just thinking about it makes you giddy.

Mom and Dad are already gone as you stroll out the door, skipping breakfast as any good genius does. Striding past the clan houses again, masking contempt, you run into another Genin from your class. Takuya has a large amount of scrolls all over him, in a manner similar to how you wear your snake he wears his style like a badge of honor. Specializing in Sealing, you consider him a rival, both of you in a race trying to prove people wrong. While you’re terrible at Taijutsu, even you had to laugh at his attempts at Ninjutsu, so it works out. Doesn’t hurt that he’s absolutely hilarious when he tries to figure out how you make puppets work.

“Yoko, going to meet your crappy team that mine’s going to kick the shit out of?” Takuya smiles, his headband on his forehead like a weirdo.

”Nope, going to meet my awesome team that’ll rip yours a new one.” The words come naturally as you smile back, making the snake give a hiss by revving its saws. Takuya laughs at the truly terrifying puppet and taps it on the nose. “Don’t do that.” You respond automatically and the snake shrinks back. Wouldn’t want to actually hurt him.

He continues walking with you. “Why? It’s an adorable little toy.” You whirl towards him.
“It’s not a toy!” Takuya puts up his hands and pretends to look scared. “Not that you’d understand, you write more poetry or something to prepare for today?”
He frowns and shakes his head. “It’s not poetry, I made every seal I know and put them on scrolls, I’m prepared for everything.” You smile mischievously.
“Except a test.” Takuya turns red.
“Shut up! How was I supposed to know the written test would be so hard!?”
“I forced you to cram you idiot, not my fault you forgot almost everything.”

You jab back and forth the entire walk to the training fields before you eventually have to part ways. Team 9, no information otherwise, or maybe you were just too excited to remember. Doesn’t matter either way, you’re the only one here. Does nobody else show up to things early!? You play with your puppet for a while, moving Chakra threads and testing systems, the new nozzle on the inside of its mouth is amazing, you love it. No need to load it yet though, don’t want to waste good poison.

Finally, someone shows up and… dammit, dammit dammit dammit! It’s an Uchiha, he’s an Uchiha, hopefully you aren’t the only normal person in this team. He doesn’t seem to pay you any mind, even though you kind of recognize him from class. Never caught his name though, probably something stupid and archaic passed down his family line for generations or some crap. Who does he think he is just sitting there and not introducing himself? His eyes don’t even look different, only thing distinguishing him is the fan on his back. He eventually walks over and looks at the snake.

“Oh. You’re that girl.” The disappointment is clear in his voice. “I’m Katsurou.” Does he even want to be here?!

“Gee, don't get so riled up on my account. I'm Yoko Yamisaki. Its... nice to meet you.” You try to bury your feelings about this guy, you’re going to be working with him so it only makes sense to be civil. What does he even do? Looking him over with a keen eye developed in the workshop where millimeters make a difference, a few things are evident. He’s very thin, almost skeletally so beneath his clothes, you can tell from how they fit him. Katsurou obviously doesn’t train for strength, and you can see why when you examine him further. He woke up late this morning, he still has bedhair, yet he isn’t late, meaning he was fast enough to make it here in what would probably be less than a few minutes. Impressive. Extending what you know about the Sharingan, you suppose he must specialize in either Ninjutsu or Genjutsu. How...typical.

He looks tired. “You can call me Katsu if you want. Sorry if I didn’t greet myself properly, I didn’t sleep well.” He sits down in front of you, leaning back before appraising you as well. “I like the snake, it suits you, especially the poisons part.” Katsurou closes his eyes for a moment.

“...thanks.” Huh, maybe he came to the same conclusion you did and you can get along. Maybe he’s a failure to his clan or something for not being an uptight asshole who broods in corners.

“Can you tell me when we’re starting, I’m going to nap a bit.” He pulls his knees up and leans his head against them, letting his messy hair fall over his head as a sort of curtain. Oooor maybe he’s just too tired to focus on being an asshole. That’s possible too. Guess you’ll have to see. Another Genin you actually do recognize comes by and your heart sinks. Hideaki. His white, featureless eyes make you dread the coming time with the team. Another Clan member.

You’re not going to stand out at all. Silently mourning, you almost want to imitate Katsurou and curl up in a ball to fall asleep. He waves. “Heyo!” Katsurou groans at the overly chipper greeting. The Hyuga rushes over to the group and sits down as well.

“I’m Hideaki, you’re Katsurou, and I think...hmm…no we haven’t met.” Asshole. You have. He beat the shit out of you in the Academy. Like almost everyone else. Maybe he’s just too stupid to remember. At least Katsurou shares your frustration.

“You hit her during the last round of exams, dumbass. Granted she was pretty worthless in that exam but at least try to remember those things.” You aren’t sure whether to be thankful or hurt by Katsurou’s comment. Hideaki looks instantly apologetic.

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean any offense, I just didn’t remember you. That’s a good skill for someone like you to have.” Wait, what does he mean ‘someone like you’?

You ignore him, instead glaring at him with the hope that maybe if you glare hard enough, he’ll suddenly not be on your team. Making chakra threads, you have the snake join in. Hideaki looks absolutely distraught, but he eventually just calms down and turns his weird eyes to the ground. He’s wearing his headband on his head like a good boy, but Katsurou’s is displayed on his arm in a manner similar to your’s. The silence must be crushing for crazy-eyes.

Eventually Katsurou picks up his head and yawns. “You think the instructor forgot about us?” You can see something like a dust cloud in the distance and as it gets closer you can see a tall man running very quickly towards the training ground. In the instant it takes you to register that, he’s almost here. Looks like he’s wearing some kind of cloak over his normal gear, and quite soon he’s standing in the middle of the group, before you can even get to your feet. At least you saw him. Hideaki and Katsurou seem surprised, which is odd considering the Hyuga should have seen him coming.

The man has long brown hair and looks more like a post than a person, much taller and skinnier than normal. His gaze focuses on the group and he speak. “I am your instructor, sensei, teacher, any of those and that is all you will know me as. You are the fifth team I have trained and already you are all profoundly disappointing.”

Hideaki looks like he’s going to cry now, Katsurou is just trying to get a read on him, but you already can. He’s similar to the Uchiha, built for speed, not for strength. The cloak is a dead giveaway, Teacher uses Genjutsu to some extent, but the weight of it is what tips you off to its true purpose. That thing is filled with supplies, you can see the outlines of vials and tags and weapons in abundance.

Before anyone can react, he has three senbon in his hand and is throwing them at the group.

Quickly making chakra threads, you bring your puppet down to block the needle, and smelling the familiar tinge of a certain flower makes you glad you did. This is a poison made with the express purpose of causing total paralysis, a simple one to counteract but nonetheless quite potent. The reagents for this sort of thing are absurdly expensive, mostly due to the nonlethal nature, as achieving this effect lethally is quite easy. In the two seconds it takes for this to register, you see the rest of your group move in slow motion.

Katsurou, looks like he’s staring directly at his needle, the senbon heading straight for his eye before, in an instant it isn’t. Instead whipping through his hair. Of course, being an Uchiha, he tries to be cool and grab it from the air, instead accomplishing little more than scratching himself slightly. That’s enough for the poison to get in. He’s done for if you don’t help him soon. Stupid. Why did he have to show off, there’s nobody here to impress.

Hideaki gets into the position for Gentle Fist style before quickly getting the needle stuck in his hand. Isn’t the Gentle Fist supposed to protect against ranged attack? That was just downright embarrassing, but maybe your comment actually affected him. What a baby.

Sensei is on top of a tree. “You are all now under the effects of a lethal poison, whoever dies first will be replaced b-” You yell up.

“Quit lying! This poison is non-lethal and I wasn’t hit!” He glares down before laughing. You can see the cloak shifting with all his gear.

“Smart, well then now to make it interesting. Your goal is to catch me. If you succeed, I will treat you all to a meal on me and take you on formally as my pupils. Should you be unable to do it today, we will try tomorrow, and the next day. Until you are able to do it, I will teach you nothing, you will not advance. Have at it.” Crap, you thought calling him out would help. He chuckles. “But none of that ‘I am sensei’ stuff, I’m Jun. Have fun catching me.” Jun-sensei stands at the top of the tree.

By now, Hideaki is completely paralyzed and Katsurou appears to be unable to move his upper body. Counteracting this poison is easily accomplished with the bleeding poison you have, so long as you stop it afterwards. It’s actually a bit reassuring that they have to rely entirely on you.

>You are slightly better than Sakura was
That's honestly pretty good, actually.
Sakura's stat total at the start of the series was 15.5, and she was the daughter of two "literally who" completely unremarkable chunin.
Ino, heir to a clan, only had 15.
Choji, also a clan kid, 14.
Kiba, clan kid, 14.5.
Hinata, heir to one of the most powerful clans in the village? 14.

Sakura wasn't useless because of her stats, pre-powercreep. Hell in raw stats she was above the class average, only really overshadowed by prodigies like Shikamaru, and badass mother fuckers like Shino.
She was useless because she constantly hesitated over everything and had no real motive beyond wanting Sasuke's sausage.
And then post-powercreep she got relegated to being the party's healbot.

Prancing over and ripping the needle from Hideaki’s hand, you laugh a small bit. The wound doesn’t bleed, that’s the issue. So you take out your own senbon covered in a yellow liquid and prick him, color returning to his skin. “I didn’t realize Gentle Fist was so underwhelming outside of close combat. Maybe if you specialized in puppets you could have blocked it.” That feels good, it feels real good. The wound starts to bleed as his muscles relax, so you set about binding it, then a quick application of the medical jutsu Naoko taught you makes the wound heal up. The bleeding stops as the two poisons counteract each other. His mouth must still be a bit stiff, he looked like he wanted to scream, must have hurt.

Flipping the yellow senbon around, you walk over to Katsurou. “And you, you were so close, but you just had to look cool, who were you even trying to impress? That was so stupid I lack the words to express it.” Prodding him with the needle, his cut starts to bleed so you replicate procedure. He actually does scream in pain though as the poisons counteract. Another giggle escapes, he deserved to have it hurt a bit. Katsurou sucks on his thumb.

Getting a bit more serious, you get down to brass tacks. “Okay, now what can you two do?”

Hideaki is the first to respond. “I’m a Taijutsu Specialist. I know a few techniques with the Gentle Fist.” He looks down. “I could track him with my Byakugan.” The Hyuga looks genuinely disheartened by his failure, it’s surprising. Maybe he is just stupid.

Katsurou is more well-spoken. “I am exceptionally fast and know many basic Genjutsu, however my strength and stamina are below average.” He seems to be more focused on the mission, keeping a close eye on Jun. Why did he try to catch the needle? Doesn’t seem like something someone like him would do.

The Training Field looks normal, but you can see that Jun was faster than even you could react to. Lumps in the ground indicate traps. Everywhere. Some barely visible threads run back to him and the only open path is winding and easy for him to attack at a distance. Something tells you that peppering him from afar won’t work.

Maybe you should load a poison into your snake as you strategize.

Have the Hyuuga use his byakugan to look at the mounds and try to identify whats in them. Us and the Uchiha will cover him until he does.

Have the hyuuga see if he can spot jun or whats in the mounds
Once we have that information act upon it
Have the hyuuga advance on jun from the front while the uchiha and us flank
Have the uchiha go in first to distract him they spray him with the poison
After that its just the nymbers game

Loading in a small vial from your bracelet, pressing it into the snake’s mouth, you start talking. “Hideaki, what’s in those mounds?” He starts looking around.
“Explosive tags.”
“Good, Katsurou and I will flank as you approach. Katsurou, you go in first and I will follow up. "Neither of you let him touch you, got it?”
Both of them nod, accepting your control of the situation and understanding the plan. Maybe they aren’t as dense as you thought. Hideaki starts advancing down the path carefully as you and Katsurou rush off playing an impromptu game of The Floor is Lava. Hideaki seems to be more prepared this time, knocking off senbon with his hands like they’re nothing, getting no scratches as he slowly advances. Katsurou starts fidgeting, obviously having to wait for you is making him antsy.

Jun has been sitting and peppering Hideaki for a while when the Hyuga strikes a thread and breaks it, causing a large earthen pillar to shoot out of the ground. He seemed to be expecting it though, slamming a palm into it and turning it to dust. When you manage to get into flanking position, you’re sure the teacher knows Katsurou is there, but you might have escaped his notice.

The Uchiha launches out to attack, but Jun simply lets loose a whistle, causing him to freeze up his movement. It’s terrifying, but the boy manages to snap out of the Genjutsu with ease before landing and engaging in combat. Now assaulted from two fronts, Jun seems to be losing the advantage and not focused on you particularly. The threads running from your fingers to the snake feel like they’re an inch away from his neck already. All you need to do is find a way to ensure the poison gets him.

As you move towards a position to surprise him, Jun throws another senbon at you. It is extremely lucky that you still have your puppet, if you didn’t you’d be done for. This poison smells different, it was meant to put you to sleep. That would make sense, if he heard you hit the ground, he’d know you’re unconscious. Aware of this, you make a large stomp to trick him into thinking it hit. You can see the bits of a smile on his face as he bats off the others. Hideaki is pinning him down in close range, and you see Katsurou making a whole lot of handsigns. Maybe he focuses more on speed than technique?

Jun jumps back and takes a breath, then laughs. “You’ve forgotten your teammate, she’s unconscious in those bushes right now. Your ambush won’t work.” Hideaki and Katsurou continue the assault though, Katsurou getting off whatever technique that was to what looks like no effect. Then Jun starts wobbling. You thought he was a Genjutsu specialist! That must have been some technique, as now Hideaki seems to be holding him back, making him actually work. The teacher keeps trying to disengage but he can’t without facing another attack from Katsurou.

Katsurou is the one who speaks up. “I don’t believe you. You have done nothing but lie this entire time and Yoko isn’t half as incompetent as you seem to think we believe.” It occurs to you that he might be using the words for another jutsu, but it’s still a little flattering in the backhanded way you’re accustomed to. Hideaki seems more tight-lipped.

“It doesn’t matter.” He is completely into this, every bit of his focus on Jun and vice versa. They’re holding him down, but there’s no telling for how long.

Grabbing the poisoned senbon he first threw, the paralysis one, in your gloves, you feel like you have this under control. Recalling the training you were doing in the woods yesterday, you throw the needle in a perfect line. The wind is gone, you lead the shot, it’s all coming down to exactly where it was aimed.

Slightly over Jun’s shoulder.

He appears to notice the needle, you can see the flash of recognition, he hasn’t missed it and continued his defense, Jun is changing his tactics. You can see him jump back, just away from Hideaki, shaking off a hit from Katsurou, but he isn’t jumping away from the needle. He’s jumping towards it. The thin piece of metal impacts him in the neck and he freezes up, falling to the ground.

He threw the fight, he let your missed shot hit him. Katsurou is shaking out his hands as Hideaki breathes heavily. The Uchiha puts up his arms, then falls over into the bushes. “Yay.” The combination of the tone combined with the word is funny enough to make Hideaki laugh. You might have too, if you weren’t still in shock about what Jun did.

The other senbon in your snake comes out easily and drops to the grass. You cuddle the wooden puppet close to your neck, you’re not sure how to feel and the smooth wood provides some measure of comfort to you. Making sense of this is hard, Katsurou stands up and walks over to you.

“Good job.” It hits you like a ton of boulders. In this moment you try to find how to feel.

You feel…

Angry. You’re angry. But if you show it the rest of them will know. “Yeah.” You look down at the paralyzed instructor slowly regaining control of his body, probably from hitting himself with poison enough to get a resistance, you can’t help but feel mad. So you just cross your arms. “Our sensei is a pathological liar.”

For the first time, Katsurou actually laughs. It’s shocking just how childlike it is, you were expecting something like a grumble from the stoic Uchiha. You feel offended, again, is he laughing at you? “What’s so funny?”

“It’s just the snake, you gave it little painted eyes even though you didn’t have to.” As you’re left processing what he meant, it seems like he gets that you’re confused. “You take care of it like a real snake.” Hideaki rushes over cheering to break the silence.

“We did it! I wasn’t expecting that at all! Thought I was done for until you did that crazy mind ninjutsu and he got all dizzy. Then the girl threw the needle and it hit!” He seems ecstatic that he passed as Jun stands up. You’re still angry at him.

“Her name’s Yoko, you never bothered asking moon-eyes.” Katsurou looks a little angry, must be that he’s trying to be respectful? They do think you won them the day, and as the two converse you can’t take your eyes off Jun. He walks over stiffly and smiles. “Good job, all of you. You managed to work together and trust each other despite the shortcomings you saw. Surprised me that you listened to Yamisaki though.”

“She had the most information, so it was the best choice.” Hideaki phrases it more like a test question than a reply. Katsurou doesn’t respond, still trying to work out his hands by fidgeting.

Taking pity on a weakling and passing them in a test they should've failed is a good way to get them killed when they face something they aren't qualified to handle. This isn't something anyone should be okay with. This is monstrous, whether intentional or not.
>>
>>2030930
I think this was an exercise on teamwork, not combat readiness. We needed to prove we could coordinate movements in a single strategy. Taking the needle was more to endear us to the Clan kids over the stigma of not having a bloodline to belong to.

Seems questionable, there was very little fighting and the instructor picked a tracking objective to test a sharingan user and a motherfucking byakugan user. But if that's true, cool, except for that last part. The clanners need to know what we are and aren't capable of, we'll be fighting alongside them in life or death situations. Better just to say what the real objective is and pass the team.

“Why did you jump into the senbon? And did Katsurou's genjutsu even work or were you faking that too?” You thought you might be able to hold it in, but you can’t. This is too infuriating to let pass. Katsu looks angry again, extremely so. Hideaki seems confused by the conversation. Jun lets out a sigh and shakes his head. His cloak jingles with all the traps and gadgets he obviously has, making it sound like a dozen little bells and a few clinking glasses falling in a wooden box down some stairs.

“It did. I did not fake any part of this test. Jumping into the senbon was my way of giving you a pass on your strategy and teamwork. Team 9 did better than I expected so I passed them.” Jun’s nonchalance is only undercut by him rubbing the back of his neck. “Guess I’ll have to be honest about this from now on…”

Katsu is grinding his teeth. “But then the challenge wasn’t real!”

Jun becomes serious in an instant. “If it was, you would never be able to pass.”

Hideaki keeps a level head. “This was a test, not a battle, he tested us on what he wanted to so it’s no use getting mad about it.” As much as that makes you angry, he has a point.

The Uchiha and the Hyuga start bickering back and forth, but Jun turns to you and glares. “The strategy would have worked, just try to work on your arm. Remember that the point of this is learning, not proving yourself.” Finally the instructor whistles. “You two done?!”

They slowly come back. “Yes.” Katsu nods.

“Good, you all have a minefield to clean. They’re not actual explosive tags, but they’ll still hurt if you screw up. Katsurou, Hideaki, you both need to work on your precision, Yoko was able to block the strike, you weren’t. She needs some help on that as well.” Is he...turning clean-up into training?

You let out a breath. “Okay.” Crossing your arms and getting to work, you find that this is much harder than you expected. The tags are sensitive, and when you pull one a little too hard you get knocked into a tree, bruising you up. Wish you could say you learned your lesson, but that isn’t true. At least you aren’t the only one having trouble with this, Hideaki is getting kicked back a lot for someone who supposedly “sees everything”. Now that you think about it, he probably is just a bit dumb and didn’t mean anything by not remembering you. It’s hard to get a read on him, but as you pay attention you can tell that he’s not used to being around people, has a hard time with personal space really.

Paying more attention to Katsurou, there are a few things odd about him. He’s definitely a bit of a loner like every other Uchiha in history, but he doesn’t seem to take that as a crutch for being rude or disrespectful. Oddly enough, he really likes your snake puppet and it looked like he was going to melt when an Inuzuka walked by with their dog, it’s actually really cute and completely breaks the brooding illusion. As he prods at mines, you can tell he isn’t always there, like he’s thinking about something sad. Katsu’s probably some kind of pariah at home, he’s too considerate for the rest of his clan to like him, even helped Hideaki up a few times despite obviously having a dislike for him.

Jun, he’s obviously lazy. Sitting in the shade, watching your team pick up, you could definitely see what he’s doing as mixing a drink and making himself comfy in the shade. But that’s not it. Jun’s mixing poisons, putting them in his canteen, and drinking them. You’re too far away to get a good idea of what they are, but one looks like the regular stamina sapping poison you have in your jacket. Is he constantly poisoning himself to make himself stronger when it wears off or something? Whenever he takes a drink, he winces, but continues.

Eventually, the mines are done, all the tags neatly stacked in front of Jun. He grabs them, then puts them in his cloak. You can’t see what’s inside. Giving a half-hearted salute, he smiles. “Be back here the same time tomorrow, until then-”

Katsu looks away from a squirrel in the forest he was watching. “Meal.”

Jun looks confused. “I don’t follow.”

Hideaki shrugs.

“You owe us a meal, you said if we caught you, you would buy us a free meal. We skipped lunch, I’m hungry.” Katsu barely looks like he’s paying attention, thinking again.

“Tch. Fine. I should have guessed I couldn’t slip that past. Where to?”

Hideaki perks up. “I know this place that does great grilled fish, and they have an aquarium.”

“I like fish.”
Jun looks at you with a pleading expression to save his wallet.

”We should get dessert too, I think they do ice cream.” Jun looks like you just physically punched him. Only not you. If you did that he wouldn’t look nearly that hurt. It’s funny and you can’t suppress a giggle at his expense. Hideaki claps his hands once and gives a shout of joy. Katsu raises his arms again. “Yay.” The tone of complete apathy does make that really funny and now that you aren’t as angry, you get the chance to laugh.

>Connection gained with Team 9

Walking to the restaurant, you can feel all the eyes on your team, bruised up, scuffed, they probably think Jun thrashed you all. But no. This was all from training. And you feel good, really good. Making your snake move and showing it off to Katsurou and Hideaki makes you feel proud, they’re actually getting to appreciate something you made! Even though they’re Clan members with all their secret techniques and money and lack of struggles, they aren’t bad people. Even though Hideaki looks like everything you said is going over his head.

The Bowl is what this place is called locally, expensive certainly, partially due to the exotic fish that stock their aquarium. Hideaki and Katsurou are looking at them like they’re the single most amazing things they’ve ever seen, and standing back it’s shocking just how similar they are. Do they both have a love for fish or something? Weird. They’re weird. You rub the head of your snake puppet and adjust your poison bracelet.

Closer to Jun, he leans over. “I had read that you were a talented creator of poison, but I hadn’t expected you to be able to identify my poisons. But one thing stood out. If you’re so talented at that and mechanics, why do you bother being a soldier?”

You think for a moment. “Why do I bother?” Coming to a conclusion, you start talking. “Because I can, I don’t need a clan, I don’t need special natures, I’m going to become a ninja on my own two feet. I’ll be the best ninja, even if I have to make my tools myself. Because nobody else is better than me.” Remembering your family, that’s what they’d want too. You’re going to make them proud of you and show everyone else that they can’t look down at you.

Jun nods. “I can get that. You should keep that, let it drive you to improve. When you need individual training, I want you to come to me so I can teach you why I’m called Jun the Venomous.” He coughs, an odd scent on his breath as he looks at the two boys. “Don’t let that motivation blind you though, a person isn’t just an extension of their family. I hate the Hyuga and Uchiha clans, but I hate them because of what they do to my students, not because they exist.”

Jun stops being cryptic when the team gets seated. Everyone is extremely happy, and you even have the sweet, strawberry ice cream with enough sweetness that you’re sure it has more sugar than you do in your house. You can’t shake off what he said though, about the clans and what they do to his students. Maybe it has something to do with Katsurou spacing out and Hideaki not understanding how to act around people. Setting it aside, you enjoy the meal after a day of hard work, and nobody can keep a straight face. Until the bill arrives and Jun grimaces as if actually stabbed by the thin paper being offered to him.

“Same time tomorrow, get good sleep or you might end up on a trip to the hospital, we’re starting the real stuff.” Katsurou nods, looking ready, while Hideaki looks scared.

You smile. Things can only go up from here.

You wake up curled next to your snake plushie and the first thing you realize is how extremely sore you are. Those bruises are painful, but they definitely aren’t anything new. Numbing them would be easy, but feeling the pain can inspire you to not let it happen again, so you don’t. Pulling yourself from the bed, you go through the new ritual of putting on your outfit, then look at your puppet. It really shined yesterday and it’s impossible to hide your chest swelling with pride at your creation being not just useful but instrumental.

“You need more upgrades, don’tcha Oreo?” You make the puppet nod its head and rev its saws a bit, causing you to giggle quietly. Picking up the device, you wrap it around your neck, it was made for you so it feels wrong when you don’t have it on you. The poison vial still sits in its chamber, waiting to be deployed. You made these, these are something that only you and your father assembled, it’s like having him with you in a sense. It’s comforting.

Looking down at the green liquid meant to drain stamina, you’re confident that you could meter your dosage to do something similar to what Jun-sensei does, it would just be at the expense of your current exhaustion threshold. Short term loss for long term gain so to speak. Maybe he’s going to dose you with something today anyways, but you’re not stupid, you can counteract it if it’s too much. You’re still not good enough, you missed that shot, training at a disadvantage could help.

...It’s hard to know if you should or shouldn’t. It could be a bad idea if you mess up, but you wouldn’t mess it up. Worst case you neutralize it later. Yeah, this could work.

Taking a needle and dipping it, you roll up your sleeve and jab it in. It hurts, but that would never stop you. Knowing that isn’t enough to get a good level for training, you jab it two more times to ensure that you feel yourself starting to fade to unconsciousness, on the brink. Then you shake your head and let the feeling set in. Your muscles are sore, you’re out of breath, and you’re confident that chakra is most of what’s keeping you going right now. It feels really good, you can keep going like this, bruised and incapacitated, so long as you know you’re going to get better it doesn’t matter if you feel bad now. Rubbing Oreo’s head, you trot out to the training field, feeling every step.

When you arrive it’s empty except for the holes you had to dig out to get the mines yesterday, so you sit down again, keeping your eyes peeled. Messing with your hair, you think about the whole hairstyle thing, getting struck with the idea of putting a poisoned and barbed hair tie in if you grow it long. That would actually make long hair a good thing. Huh. Ideas for a later date, your hair is short and cute right now. Katsurou shows up a little earlier this morning, looking a bit more well-rested, providing an exact opposite to you.

He takes a seat and looks at the holes around. “You okay?”

“Yep. Just tired.” What are you supposed to say? That you poisoned yourself in hopes of becoming more resilient?

“I’ll watch out if you want to take a nap.” Does he think that’s normal or something?

“No, I’m good.” Like you’d let yourself take a nap right now, that’s completely unreal.

The two of you sit in silence for a bit before it’s obviously too much for even him to bear. “Does your puppet has a name?”

“Oreo.” You always thought it was a nice little play on words considering your sweet tooth and the little snake.

“That’s cute.” A contrast to his tone, his face looks like he meant exactly what he said. Jeez, these clan kids are weirdos.

Looking at the puppet, you attach two chakra threads to it. “...it’s supposed to be scary.” Revving the saws inside, you make it hiss and… DAMMIT HE POKED ITS NOSE. Why does everyone do that? You nuzzle up next to it to console the poor creature and Katsu puts his hand down.

“If you painted it black or something it might be more scary, maybe add some purple to match your clothes.” Typical, exactly what someone like him would say.

“Paint’s expensive if you want to make it stick and not look bad, that’s why I did only the eyes.” You make sure he gets the implication that you’re not happy he didn’t consider that, being from a clan and all. Hideaki appears to be coming.

“Have you tried asking Sawako? Her family paints houses, they might have some left over.” Hideaki interrupts the conversation as he falls to the ground, tripping over one of the holes. How in the world is a Hyuga this clumsy?

“Hey team! How are y-jeez Yoko, you look like you saw a ghost.” Paleness, caused by the poison, you knew it was going to happen and your skin was going to look lighter. It’s not a bad thing, just different, and you’re sure you could find a way to make a variant without this side effect.

It is kind of fun to make him sad though, he’s supposed to be this curt, businesslike Hyuga and he’s really just a stupid kid.

He stumbles again before sitting. “I’m sorry that I didn’t recognize you, that’s a really good quality though! If nobody remembers who you are you can be a really good spy, like in the ANBU.” Hideaki is trying, you’ll give him that. “You’re forgettable!”

Katsu looks at him. “Nice.” The sarcasm is evident in his voice.

Turning back to him, you start yelling. “I’m the only puppet user in the village! I made this thing with my own two hands and then you stroll up with your stupid patty-cake fist style and punch me in the chest, then you forget I existed!? This is why nobody likes you!” Snapping at the insult, you stand up and try to think of a place to huff off to. Not many of those in an open field. Katsu continues sitting.

“Not cool, Yoko.”

“What, do you like him?”

“...you can’t just tell people that.”

Hideaki looks like he wants to say something, but eventually gives up and sits down, letting out a sigh. “Then I guess we’ll just train together, don’t have to worry about being friends. I’m not giving up.”

Think of it this way: Yoko has grown up resenting the clans because of their wealth and status. Suddenly she's in an opportunity to express these pent up feelings. Its not healthy, no, but she's a kid who doesn't know how to hand these feelings responsibly. We have plenty of time to come to know them and learn to respect them. Maybe even come to respect the Clans as well, who knows.

Staying silent, you sit down again now that you know there’s no way to leave and not look petty. Katsu seems to be trying to sleep again and Hideaki looks to be wracking his brain to try and figure something out. He doesn’t have any success before your sensei arrives. He has three vials in his left hand and three bottles of what looks like milk in his right hand. When he arrives, Hideaki stands upright in a stiff position, like a statue, and Katsu slowly gets to his feet.

Jun-sensei holds up what he has in his hands. “Good morning students, one or two of you might have been wondering what I meant by us getting into the real stuff, and why you needed good rest.” He starts emptying one vial into each of the drinks. You can sort of recognize a few of them, one is definitely a more potent version of what you injected yourself with this morning, another looks like...it might have a bit of a mental bent? The berries in it seem like they’re hallucinogenic if you identify them correctly. The third one, you don’t recognize it at all.

“Well the answer is that I am going to incapacitate each and every one of you to the point where you’re bordering on an ER visit, then we are all going to do hard manual labor in the vein of low ranking missions around town.” Katsu nods along and you gulp, but Jun has a knowing look on his face seeing you. Hideaki doesn’t seem to get it.

“I don’t see how that will help.”

“If you can move and work in your worst condition, you’ll be more effective should you ever actually be poisoned. Ideally by the end of the year I’ll have to give you all horse-sized doses with the resistances you build up.” Hideaki still doesn’t seem to get it, but he walks over.

He’s given the one with the same poison you took, but when he chugs the bottle of milk he doubles over and doesn’t seem to be able to move, instead twitching on the ground. Jun-sensei looks completely unfazed by this reaction and nonchalantly steps over him.

Rushing over, you check Hideaki to make sure he isn’t dying. His breathing is shallow, but returning to normal, and the muscle spasms are completely normal for someone who just ingested a powerful mixture that in certain doses could cause comas. He seems to be getting better, not worse, so you guess he isn’t in any terrible danger. Hideaki starts trying to stand up, shaky and slow, like someone who just ran a marathon both ways. The Hyuga barely manages to squeeze out some words between his wheezes. “Thanks.”

Katsu drinks his and immediately experiences something similar, however it looks more like he’s cowering away from something than experiencing spasms. He looks into a hole in absolute terror, curling up, trying to get away from things that aren’t there. Jun-sensei must have talked with the Yamanaka about this one, they specialize in this sort of thing. Katsu’s eyes are screwed shut as he tries to push through whatever experience he’s having.

“Sensei, I dosed myself with poison this morning to attempt to b-” He cuts you off. “I know. Your skin looks like you haven’t seen sun in a year. This isn’t a problem, you’re just going to be in a lot of pain.” Jun shrugs. “You want me to be honest, I will be, you’re probably going to want to die.”

Hideaki is finally up, his arms limp at his sides. “Yep...that’s about right…” Katsu is curling up, trying to cover his face, but he isn’t running. Normally when people are scared, they go into fight or flight, and he’s pretty fast, but he isn’t even trying to run. Weird, maybe he can’t.

Jun holds out the bottle and shakes it. “Sooner you get through what the Uchiha’s having, sooner we can start. Acclimation takes a long time.”

Putting your hand over Oreo’s eyes, you grab the bottle and quickly down it, leaving no room for your mind to ponder what was in it. Better if you don’t know. The milk tastes sour and horrid, but a normal sour, like it was already a bit spoiled. Must have been to hide the taste. You feel alright, no terrible pain. Maybe you’re tougher than you thought!

Immediately a migraine proves you completely and utterly wrong, your head feeling like it’s on fire and your eyes throbbing with each breath. It passes, then another one takes its place as you tighten your eyelids, screaming in pain. The headaches come in waves, the third one sending you crashing to the ground into one of the holes. Just when one passes, a stronger one takes its place. This repeats for what feels like days until, eventually, the final peak is reached and the migraines start lowering in intensity. When the last wave passes, you open your eyes.

Did you open your eyes? It’s still black like the inside of your eyelids.

Are you blind!? Your question is answered when suddenly the view changes to the training field, Jun-sensei and Hideaki frozen in position despite you hearing them talking. It doesn’t take you long to figure out why, this poison must be made with the intent of cutting your reaction time, you only get one bit of sight every second or so. Still, this isn’t as hard to get used to as you would have thought, it just makes you react to things slower in the moment, so you have to predict them.

>Speed is now effectively 0 when in Training, all rolls for it are now on a penalized Intelligence check
>This will train your Speed primarily, and your Intelligence as a secondary benefit

Avoiding holes, you make it over to the other two, then look for Katsurou. He’s curled there, still. Wait, no, he’s moving, you forgot about the eyesight thing for a minute. The Uchiha stands up and walks over, looking spaced out like he oftentimes does. Jun begins talking and you see it in semi-slow motion as you mentally adjust to this lag time.

“I have given each of you a poison tailored to make you strain yourselves to the limits and round out your skills, you will be treated as if this wasn’t the case. Each of you will be given a pill in the morning when you arrive here, taking it will sustain these effects. Before the weekend you will be given enough for the break.” He turns around, even though you heard the cloak jingle first.

“Hideaki will be unable to sustain combat with his fatigue until he adjusts, Katsurou’s chakra has been tampered with which will leave his Genjutsu unreliable, and Yoko has been rendered unable to run away and plan in the moment. You will adjust to these in time, becoming more skilled. Until then, do you have any questions?”

“How common are these poisons? Besides the usefulness of forcing us to train at a disadvantage, are we also building up an immunity to something other villages' ninja may use against us?” You’re immediately questioning what exactly he gave you and Katsurou.

Jun hums and a moment later you can see him nod. “What I gave you, Yoko, is a precursor to most mixtures that endeavor to blind an enemy, meaning that should all go well many varieties would have reduced effects. Katsurou’s is a very strong hallucinogenic poison, meaning that those will pale in comparison. Hideaki’s, you get the idea.” Katsurou is the next one to speak up, a bit of a stutter to his voice.

“W-what are w-we doing now?” Hideaki joins in though out of breath. “Yeah, what now?”

The smile that breaks out on his face a moment after is not a good omen. “D rank missions, one every day, until you can get one done before lunch. Then two.” The crinkled paper can be heard before it appears.

“I grabbed one I thought you would all have an interest in. A Noble’s son recently lost his dog and he needs help finding it. He doesn’t know where he last saw it was, and he doesn’t remember when, so the only lead is that it’s white with a black-tipped tail.”

Katsurou groans. “Poor thing, but how are we supposed to find it?” Jun replies a moment later with a smug smirk, letting you all know how much he intends to help.

Hideaki starts to plan. It’s pitiful. “We could sweep the entire village.” That’s stupid, they don’t let animals out of the noble quarter if they aren’t mutts, don’t want the purebreds getting mixed, whatever that means.

>”Katsu and you will scout from rooftops to cover ground while I go through with a fine search.”

”Hideaki, use your Byakugan. Katsurou, use your speed. I’ll direct where to go.” The other two voice agreement before you see them nod. It’s odd that they listen to you, but you guess that you haven’t lead them wrong yet. Thinking over what you know about the Noble quarter, you construct a plan using the Uchiha’s speed, the Hyuga’s sensing ability, and your skills. A perfect ruse coming over your mind, you start striding towards the town, looking back at the two Clan ninja. “Come on, we’re going shopping.”

The trap is set. You stand on the rooftop in the noble’s quarter, dangling a piece of fresh meat from a chakra thread into an alley. Katsurou stands on the opposite side, waiting to pounce like a tiger. Hideaki stands by you, his eyes strained as he wobbles from exhaustion. Waiting must be tough on him, but he hasn’t bothered talking to you at all.

He snaps his fingers once to indicate that a dog is coming. Soon you see it in the alleyway, looks like the right one. You feel it latch onto the meat and you quickly wrap the chakra thread around it, giving time for Katsurou to jump down and snatch the puppy. The tiny thing licks his face as he holds it and laughs, then he spaces out, and suddenly he’s back again. The Uchiha repeats this a few times, must be feeling the effects of the poison, and Hideaki stands up, lurching to jump to the other rooftop. He makes it.

“Go tell Jun-sensei we got it while we return this guy.” You’re about to respond, but then you catch up in sight and they’re already gone. Dammit. You’re going to have to be careful getting down from here. You sit and look at Oreo for a bit, still trying to puzzle out a good way down with your crippled reaction times. A sound of someone else on the rooftop is easily heard and you turn around, but that throws off your sight a lot more. Whoever it is sounds calm. You shake your head, trying to let the poison stop throwing you. It doesn’t quite work as fast as you’d like.

Feeling a bit self-conscious about being on some random stranger’s roof, you cover your eyes for a moment to hopefully stop the dizziness from the blurry sights. “...kinda. Just a little.” The person laughs, but it’s too controlled to be entirely natural. It’s hard to get a read on them, but you can feel that they’re trying to be friendly. They probably saw the headband and get it, that would explain it.

“You’re from the Academy, correct?”

“No! I graduated.” You respond quickly in defense of you honor, receiving a laugh again.

“That’s what I meant. Your puppet is quite interesting, I was sure I remembered seeing it somewhere.” You open your eyes and it takes a few more seconds while they adjust to the influx of light. It’s still bright out, but this is after lunch. Whoever this is seems like they’re really pale, or covered in makeup, that must be it, they’re a Noble of some sort.

“...thanks, I made it a snake so it would scare the other kids, like one of the Sannin. It doesn’t seem to be working tho-” Your eyesight finally adjusts and you bite your tongue before a shriek escapes it. You just badmouthed one of the Sannin to their face! He’s going to destroy you! Silently saying your goodbyes to your mother and father, the man smiles, it seems far too sincere to be one born of malice.

“That’s very flattering, I can see that it’s very well taken care of. I recognize the gear, but not you, what was your name again?” He’s appraising you, you know because that’s what you did to Katsurou when you first met him. It’s terrifying, just the weight of influence the person in front of you has.

“Yoko, sir. The snake is Oreo.” NO! Why did you panic and toss in the puppet too, you’re only supposed to call it that when talking to it! People get creeped out when you talk to your puppet, now you did it in front of someone who could probably end you with a word!

“Interesting, you’re on the team with the Uchiha and the Hyuga, right?” You’re alive, not dead, thank heavens.

You recover from shock just in time to get into more shock, one of the Sannin is talking to you! Not only that, but the best one! People only spread rumors about people who are really good at what they do, and when you were in the hospital it was easier to believe them. But now that he’s right here you aren’t worried about the rumors, people spread bad rumors about you too!

“Are you okay?” He seems actually concerned, probably after your little episode and your silence. And you still aren’t speaking. What should you say? He asked about your team?

“Yes. And yes, I’m on a team with those two.” You can’t hold back a little frustration about him specifically mentioning them. Stupid clans always getting the recognition.

He smiles again, why is he smiling so much? “I’ve heard wonderful things about you, and I think that poison you have loaded in the puppet is based on a non-animal-based compound? It’s not bleeding like that would.”

“No, it’s made with plants and a few refined chemicals. I have it hooked up to a vaporizer to mist it.”

“Paralytic?”

“Eventually, it focuses more on constraining chakra pathways and limiting fine motor skills.”

“That’s not available in a market.”

“I designed it.” Wait did he say he’s heard about you!? The realization must have been clear on your face as you explained the poison, because he reacts.

“That is very impressive. You are using a poisonous compound to limit your capabilities right now, correct?” You nod. “Hmm. Do you think you can get down from this building right now? Whatever you have, it’s not weak.”

“Probably.” Making Chakra Threads from each finger, you anchor yourself to the roof and descend slowly. Near the end though, that’s when things go wrong. You can feel the poison from the morning making you regret all the activity for the day, each muscles crying out in pain as you hold yourself from your fingers. In the last stretch, your resolve breaks and you let go, falling to the alleyway and bruising yourself some more. It doesn’t hurt now, the poison is seeing to that, but it will in the morning. Orochimaru is already down, but he’s looking at you more.

“Not at all bad for someone of your age in your condition. I am going to consider some options and see what I can do, there are many things I think you will not learn without my urging. You just keep along with your training Yoko, okay?” There’s a clear undertone to the statement that makes you feel like he doesn’t want you to tell anyone about this. It makes sense, but who would believe you anyway? Realizing that Oreo isn’t around your neck after the fall, yous start frantically searching, the lack of reactions making it hard to get a clear read. You’re on the verge of tears when the Sannin holds up your puppet.

He frowns for the first time. “Looks like he got hurt in the fall.” A few pieces are crushed and you feel the tears welling up again. Orochimaru looks surprised and fumbles around in his pockets. “Here, use this to fix him, it wouldn’t do for anyone to think I broke your puppet.” Handing over a note, it’s... this is more than you had on the tests in the Academy for how much a C Rank mission is worth. He’s severely overestimating how much Oreo costs to repair, and he’s being nice...trying to cover up his tracks, but nice!

"I...I appreciate your generosity, sir, but I don't need that much." That much money could pay for a lot of upgrades, or even something nice for the house. But taking what you don’t need is wrong.

Orochimaru hands the puppet back to you and pulls out a few smaller notes to swap out, enough to cover Oreo’s repairs with a bit extra on spare parts and maybe something small as an upgrade. “Curious.” The way he says it makes it feel like he’s considering something until he pulls out the vial from Oreo’s mouth quickly. “Would it break your heart if I took this to study? I’ll bring it back, with a few pointers of course.”

With how he’s talking, it feels more like an arrangement than a simple deal, like this is ensuring that he’ll talk to you again. The Sannin seems to be inspecting the vial intently, the liquid inside bubbling as he swishes it inside. You have two other doses, and the extra money could pay for the materials for another, AND this is Orochimaru asking to see your handiwork. How could you refuse? “N-not at all, please, take it.”

In the instant that your vision is behind, he’s already gone. You aren’t sure how other ninja do that, maybe you should learn eventually? Maybe when you aren’t essentially blind. Looking down at Oreo’s broken body and his tiny tongue hanging out of the mouth, a few tears escape. You can fix him, but that doesn’t make it any less sad. Taking out a few segments from your jacket, you toss some of the broken ones, but the pins on some of them are completely busted, you’ll need to operate at home. The new segments go into most of the snake, but three slots won’t take the replacements. Oreo looks so sad without his tiny tail tip.

You coil him around your shoulders, trying to hide the broken parts, and begin walking for the training grounds. Alone. It occurs to you that if your team had been there, they would have been able to get you down. But they forgot you. Again. Yeah well joke’s on them! They didn’t get to meet the coolest ninja in the village, you did. Still, it hurts, you expected Hideaki to forget, but you never expected that from Katsurou. He’d gone to bat for you against Hideaki yesterday and it’d actually been the nicest that anyone from the Academy has ever treated you. Maybe you’re just used to the worst, so even bad people seem like a step up…

The training field is ahead, you can see Jun-sensei filling in holes all by himself. Maybe he isn’t as lazy as you thought, and you just weren’t as clear-headed as you are now. Clear-headed. That’s the word for what you’re feeling, right?

Not much. Third Ninja War, Sannin, Third Hokage, a few others if you get into some weird stuff. I don't plan to take this to the period of tons of canon. Orochimaru is the only one I felt needed to happen at some point, and a 100 was a fine time to do so.

>>2033595
I'm not for or against canon stuff/characters and anons that complain about either can get annoying but either way I don't think we'll see too much from canon because we're just in so far back from the canon beginning of naruto, and most of the events that will happen during this timeframe will be small and of vague, making it unlikely we'd even be there for amy legitimate reason.
>>
>>2033616

It's the anticipation at seeing our character have a hand in canon events, as well as the anticipation at seeing how those events will change or have been changed by our actions.
>>
>>2033622
If the events are changed in any way that matters then it wouldn't be the canon plot anymore
>>
>>2033634

But they wouldn't be totally original either.

...okay? There's no point complaining either way, whatever happens happens. I just wanted to give my obviously subjective opinion.

“Jun-sensei, can I train with you alone?” The words are quiet, and you hear his coat jingle before you see his head turn from his shovel. He looks tired, like he actually has been working hard today instead of just sitting around waiting for your team. The Noble must be giving them the runaround or something. Jun’s long brown hair flutters in the wind, parting above his brown eyes and he sighs, another jingle, then his hands are in the air for a stretch.

There’s a small frown on his face. “Yeah. Grab a shovel and work on your coordination.” You do as he says and start helping fill in holes, the bruises and scrapes from earlier making it feel like you’re ripping yourself apart. Tears start to fall, and they have to be from the pain, you’re just being weak, that’s all. The shovel takes a lot of careful placement to get in the right spot with your vision, especially the blur from the tears, but you make it work. By the time the field is finished, you feel like you might have a better understanding of how you should move your body. Progress feels painful, but good.

“They’re boys. Stupid, ignorant, and unable to understand that feelings happen outside their little bubble. You do know you’ll have to work with people you can’t stand, right?” His frown is still there, and he isn’t looking at you, but at the village.

“I know. They just…”

“I know.”

“Sensei, I’ve completed the mission, can I go home to perform repairs?”

“Yes. You’ve done well today.” He continues looking at the village and frowning, but maybe he did something in the lag of your sight. You take the opportunity to leave, keeping the battered form of Oreo close. The money is burning a hole in your pocket, you need supplies.

Walking to the same old shop that normally gets the good woods for cheap and has all the metal bits you need, you idly pet Oreo. Today...you don’t know what to make of it. You met one of your heroes, one of your inspirations even. Orochimaru got where he is now with no help from bloodlines or anything, and he thought your poison was worth checking out! Okay, you know what? Screw that those two left you to fall, you met Orochimaru and he gave you money...to fix your puppet...that’s broken because of them. Now you’ve gone and soiled it all again.

You enter the shop, grab what you need, pay, and leave. There’s still money left. Not a lot, you did buy some extra parts, but enough for you to treat yourself. The ice cream shop across the street tempts you and you cave. They’re all out of cones, so you begrudgingly get a bowl of strawberry ice cream and add tons of colorful sprinkles, that should cheer you up! It’s all colorful and sugary and cold, helping soothe the bruises and cuts on your hands.

“Bet you my team is shittier than your team.” You hear the familiar voice before Takuya takes a seat at the table, eating his own bowl with just vanilla ice cream. He too seems to be in a state of wear and tear, all his scrolls are either charred or stained with blood and his thumbs are bandaged heavily. He’s marred with greenish bruises and scrapes. Wow, is that how you look too?

“I doubt that. They left me drugged on a building.” He scoffs.

“Mine tried to take me out to pass our teacher’s quest until I bailed them out.” That does sound bad.

“One of them called me forgettable.”

“Same.”

“But this was after I saved both their asses.”

“One of my teammates blew me up.”

”Let me heal you, dumbass.” You take your hands off your bowl and start using what you learned from Naoko, starting by sealing up the wounds on his thumbs, then moving around him slowly. Takuya tries to keep still, he knows how this works, you’ve sparred before. Both your frozen treats are melting, but they were too stiff anyways. It takes less time than you were expecting and you’re back in your seat eating your slightly-melted ice cream and feeling a little better about yourself.

”I have an Uchiha and a Hyuga on my team.” He looks at you with a note of remorse. “Aburame and Inuzuka. Still, that’s not a contest, you’ve won this round.”

“It is what it is. My sensei drinks poison and drugged us all, I’m seeing your mouth move after I hear you, so no sparring today.” Takuya nods and looks at you, then takes out a small scroll and removes some bandages and first aid supplies. He pours some alcohol on a bandage and starts blotting your scrapes.

“Gotta wash them or they get infected.” He works around, making sure that every one of them is covered and doing some basic first aid. You’re kind of glad he did, you forgot that the poison would likely compromise your immune system. “I have training weights on my legs, moving them feels like my shins are gonna rip off.”

“Sounds shitty.” He nods. Always did like that about him, he’s agreeable, and he can learn over time. Just slow. Like a dog. But dogs are fine.

“It is, now I have to go home and remake my seals.”

“I have to fix up Oreo.”

“Still can’t believe you kept those eyes I painted on him as a prank.” That was so long ago, you barely remembered it. They always did make the snake feel a bit more alive and comforting, the unpainted eyes just seemed harsh, and now it’s like your plushie.

“Well...paint is expensive.”

“You can borrow some any time, you’ve fixed me up enough times that I owe it to you.”

“Maybe later.” You need to actually fix up Oreo anyway, and your ice cream is gone, now chilling your tummy. It’s not quite as sad anymore now that you can fix Oreo, he’s a good boy, he saves you from a lot of things these days you guess. Tossing your bowl in a garbage bin, you stand up, your vision rising a few moments later.

“Kay, just don’t forget.” Takuya continues eating his treat slower than you did, taking smaller bites.

“You seriously think I’d forget?”

One moment it looks like he’s eating, then he has an eyebrow cocked at you.

“Fiiine, I’ll try to remember. Don’t be so pushy, it’s annoying.”

Walking home, there’s a bit more of a pep in your step. At least you aren’t the only one that doesn’t like their team, so you aren’t alone or a weirdo. Quickly making tracks to your workshop, blazing past Mom so she doesn’t question the scrapes, bruises, and pale skin, you slam the bag with the parts onto the table. Being in your element helps so much with your eyesight being all weird, you know where everything is. Tiny hammers, nails, screws, it’s all your domain. Soon Oreo is good as new with parts to spare.

Something’s been...waiting for when you were a Genin, you promised you wouldn’t check until you had mastered the art of puppetry, but now? You’re confident in it. It’s just a matter of taking a leap. Everyone else already knows theirs, one of Takuya’s team threw fireballs at him, if he hadn’t known a little Water Release, he’d have been done for. You would have been a sitting duck.

Opening up a small drawer in your box of nails and screws, you see it, a thin piece of paper. Should you? It would distract you, knowing what’s possible. Every option you ever get sends your mind reeling with possibilities, you almost lost direction when you were coming up with your Chakra Paralysis poison. You might never focus on the stuff you grew up with again, even if you aren’t special. If you found out you were some kind of bloodline, crazy as that would be, you know that would be the case.

Still, it might put you on the field other people are, might impress Orochimaru more, might send you closer to your goal. Mixing a Nature with your puppets and threads and healing, or even your poisons, could bring you a step above the rest.

What should you do?

Grabbing the paper, you stare at it. It doesn’t look impressive, just a small slip, and it could change the way you think forever. How do you know that what you are is good? What if you get something that you don’t know how to use with what you’re good at, what if you get fire!? Imagining Oreo burning up makes you terrified for a moment before you steel yourself. No. Whatever it is, it isn’t the end. You run chakra through the paper, recalling how it works.

Burning for fire, crinkle for lightning, dirt for earth, damp for water, split for wind. Please don’t ignite tiny paper! Just… crinkle or something!

It takes a while, hard to see an effect, then a damp patch moves away from your thumb and drips to the floor. Water. You have an affinity for water! That’s great! You know tons of water-based poisons, you could use this to help grow a garden for poisonous plants, you could put out Oreo if he gets caught on fire!

You’re so happy holding the moist piece of paper that you start laughing. Water release might have healing applications too, and sending a blast of water through your puppet, and isn’t mist a part of this too!? You always were sneaky! That makes sense now!

Grabbing Oreo, you notice something off with the workshop now that you’re paying attention. There’s a small book, bound in a simple black cover, on the bench in the corner. You walk over and pick it up, flipping through pages, seeing small notes around diagrams of hand seals and sketches of odd and macabre sights, pictures of people mixing in cauldrons with snakes, and strange seals you don’t recognize.

This isn’t yours, it wasn’t here when you left, someone was here. When you reach the last page, it makes sense. There is a mostly blank page with a message in script at the top.

‘A copy of some notes you may find interesting. Questions go below.’

It doesn’t take a genius to know who left this, but it escapes you as to why. Maybe these are the pointers he was mentioning. Oh well. Look at them later. You’re beat.

For a brief moment, you think your eyelids are stuck closed until your vision catches up and you remember the poison. Ugh, you feel terrible and your stuffed animal is the only thing that doesn’t cause pain when you touch it. Standing up, you quickly inject yourself with the green liquid you did yesterday morning again. It helps numb the pain a bit,but you still feel like this morning won’t be fun at all. Green splotches where bruises have begun to heal, scabbed wounds where the bandages come off, you’re going to be fine though. Quickly you wash up, already adjusting to your eyesight again. It’s not as hard as yesterday after it hit you, so you have to be making progress. Letting your hair dry off because you woke up early, you smile at the reflection, the pale skin from the poison actually going a way to make it look like you have makeup on. It looks good with your hair, so you aren’t complaining as you start gearing up.

The damp piece of paper is still in the workshop as you gather your spare parts, right next to the black book and Oreo. Deciding against bringing your gift with you, you wrap Oreo around your shoulders and take in the smell of fresh wood, relaxing some more and strapping in replacements for the poison you’ve been using to train. The empty slot on the bracelet where a vial of your poison would go is annoying on a purely aesthetic level, but Orochimaru took it, so you’re happy. Your jacket goes on last, after your gloves, and it ends up working really well with everything, including the band on your arm. Making Oreo give a menacing “hiss” fills you with pride and you stroll out towards the training ground.

You’re always there first, and you haven’t forgotten that those two idiots left you on a roof with no way down and you broke Oreo because of it. Maybe you should get a bell or something, then they might know you’re around. Like sheep or something. But less fluffy. As a matter of fact, why should you bother being the only one who gets there early. You could probably go shopping for ingredients or parts, window-shopping now that you think about it, and still make it before Jun-sensei shows up. Make them believe you got lost or hospitalized or something. Jerks.

Deciding to be the bigger person, you walk past the shops without even a second glance at them. Okay maybe a second but definitely not a third. Just to look at a few of the flowers in the window because they’re pretty, not because they can cause internal bleeding. Definitely not thinking about applying that to your poisons, not at all. Walking to the field did take longer than you expected though, and it all has to do with this stupid poison, you have to watch out for potholes in advance and then be aware of where your body is to move away from them. It’s like trying to avoid puddles in the rain.

By the time you get there, Katsu is already sitting with his head against his knees napping. He looks like he was here all night when you see all the dirt and such on him. Or at least he didn’t change clothes. He hasn’t noticed you yet and you don’t want to talk to him so you simply sit away from him on top of where the holes have been filled in. A telltale jingle lets you know Jun-sensei is behind you and you don’t make the mistake of turning around again.

“Good morning Jun-sensei.” He doesn’t sound surprised by your awareness and walks around you, the jingle of his cloak giving away his position before your sight catches up. Jun looks more prepared, his eyes hardened into an expression you would expect from a Jounin. There’s a small frown on his face, is that his neutral expression or something? He didn’t seem that way before.

“You’re improving, take your pill.” He hands you a small round pellet and you swallow it, no headaches but you definitely feel like the effect won’t go away. It is odd that you’re handling so much poison in your system so well, but you chalk it up to just having worked with so much before. He does the same with Katsu, the Uchiha slipping back into his trance and shivering slightly. Hideaki doesn’t appear to be anywhere to be seen.

“Sensei, I’m not sure my dosage is high enough, I’m not having nearly as much trouble as I was yesterday with this.” Sure, the lag is still there, but you’re not nearly as uncoordinated. Could probably get down from a roof like you normally do at this point. You get a small indicator that he’s shifted his arms by the cloth rubbing and a second later his arms are crossed.

“That’s not normal, but if you had a resistance, the poison wouldn’t have lasted to this morning. I think you may just be making progress.” You immediately feel proud, bet those clan shinobi aren’t making half the progress on their training you are. Definitely not Katsu, he looks more tired than ever while he shakily stands up. Still, you do have to think about the other one. Maybe you were a bit harsh on him before.

“Where’s Hideaki?”

“He has family matters to attend to, I already gave him his pill.” Jun’s frown deepens. Katsu walks over and stretches, his eyes reddened and dry-looking. Maybe he didn’t actually sleep. But then why were his eyes shut while he was sitting down? Do Uchiha need special eyedrops or something?

“Morning. Jun said you trained with him while Hideaki and I were chasing down the Noble, sounds nice.” His tone is still completely neutral despite the fact that he has the face of someone who just wants to curl up in bed and sleep for a day. Stupid. Does he still not remember what he did?

”It was, had the time when you two left me stranded on a roof. It’s okay though, I only fell down and broke my puppet because of you.” You glare at him with as much venom in your eyes as there is in your blood. Which is a lot. It’s still weird that you aren’t as disturbed by that as you should be, but oh well. Knowing what’s in them is half of staying calm you suppose.

He looks at the snake sadly. “Oh no, not Oreo. Are you okay?” The neutral tone actually is broken for that, he did seem like that was really the saddest thing he heard all day. Katsu looks terrible now that you’re paying closer attention. He’s still as thin, his hair has a few leaves in it, and the bags under his eyes remind you of Dad’s. “I knew I was forgetting something, but I ignored that feeling, shouldn’t have.”

“Yeah I’m okay, no thanks to you. And you shouldn’t have, you’re right.” Katsu looks at the puppet and sighs.

He looks down at you. “Listen, you need to apologize to Hideaki next time you see him, h-” You cut him off.

“Screw him! He was the one who should have noticed!” Katsu glares back.

“Yeah well he didn’t! Ever think he doesn’t know how to talk to people because nobody will do it!?” This is the first time you’ve heard him raise his voice for anything. You almost feel bad that you’re not going to let him talk you down. Almost. You still deserve an apology you never got, even after checking that the Hyuga wasn’t dying.

Jun’s jingle cuts in before he appears in between you two. “This is good.”

Katsu yells at him, he looks ugly when he’s yelling, most people do you’ve noticed now that you catch the minor facial tweaks in your lag. “How is this good?! She’s bullying the dumb kid!”

What team we stopped working with her as soon we stopped seeing her as convenient.’ It's not my fault you clan kids don't know how to treat other people!” You go off on the rant and can see Katsu’s face change a bit after every second. He looks angry.

“I’ve tried my absolute hardest to be nice but you forced my hand! We didn’t ask to be born this way and it isn’t fair for you to hate us for it! Just because you have problems doesn’t mean nobody else has them, Hideaki’s probably getting be-” A chime sounds from a bell in Jun’s cloak and everything...stops. His voice is the only one that keeps going.

“Today, you’re sparring. Hideaki will be well-tested at home. As soon as this wears off, you will both try your hardest to take me down and steal one item from my coat. Whoever does not have an item by the end of the day will perform two D Rank missions tomorrow. Alone. Neither of you recognize the value of a team enough to maintain one.” You can hear the jingle as he walks towards the edge of the woods. It’s like your mind is trying to make you move, but your body is surrounded by stone. There’s a disconnect somewhere. If this were a poison, it would be affecting your nervous system, probably interfering with brain function. That’s how Genjutsu works too, right? How can you make this work

You hear Katsurou move before you see him jostle a bit. He’s breaking out fast, you almost forgot he wasn’t just fast, he was experienced in Genjutsu as well. You need to get a move on! Or… maybe you could use this to your advantage?

I participate in plenty of best of three 1d100 quests and even those seem weighted pretty heavily towards success even on what would normally be hard DCs. I'd say how long I've been following quests but that'd just turn into a quest-related dick measuring contest which I don't think anybody wants. Best of 5 tends to be only in wish fulfillment power fantasy quests since failure isn't an option in those quests.

You just sort of… let go. Your mind is still stuck in place but you let your body go as it wants to. It’s not enough to get you an advantage, but you do manage to move your body before you realize the Genjutsu already wore off. And you stop the motion sickness that would have occurred should you have turned your head by closing your eyes to do so. That is a good thing to know now that you realize it. You can move your body before your eyes catch up, so if you can predict when something happens you can still react like normal. There’s no time to ruminate on that though, so you run forward behind Katsurou, hearing a loud thump then seeing him get hit in the chest by a stone pillar from one of the holes you helped fill in yesterday.

One launches towards you, you can hear sense’s cloak jingle as he makes the handsigns, so you duck just in time. This won’t help for long though, now you’re in the thick of the holes and knowing he’s making handsigns won’t help you predict where the pillars will come from. You get lucky a few times, dodging three pillars by pure chance before taking a glancing blow yourself and being launched off the training field into the tree cover.

“Were you just doing what the most obvious solution was?! Are you both animals or something? Think harder than that or you’ll never be able to touch me.” You don’t feel too bad about that, that’s exactly what you were doing, and now that your mind caught up you realize it was kind of stupid. At least you have time to plan now. Starting to sweat, you take off your jacket and put your senbon in a pocket inside a fold of your clothes, then start putting the poisons in similar pockets. Oreo’s mister is empty, you should fill that before anything else. Opening his mouth, you begin strategizing.

>Slot a poison into Oreo (Stam, Spd, Bleed, Blind, Unique)
>Wait for an opening to attack. (Speed)
>Try to sneak around carefully. (Intelligence)

You push the Chakra Restriction poison into Oreo’s mouth and shut it, mentally filling in the om nom. If you just move slowly, and then get close enough for a good shot with Oreo, he might not be able to react in time. So you move at a glacial pace. Your body is taking the forefront, practiced movements honed over years of training in the Academy, both formal and informal when trying to dodge mean words from your classmates. Two chakra threads run to Oreo and you focus to make them less obvious. Katsu appears to be going at Jun from a safe distance, throwing off lightning speed handseals, trying to catch him in a Genjutsu you’d guess, but failing. That poison is supposed to be throwing off his Genjutsu, stupid, now he’s going to fail and you’ll pluck some poison from Jun’s paralyzed body. Slow and steady.

There is a small crack under your foot, but there was nothing there before...right...vision lag. A small stick lays broken beneath your foot and a senbon hits a tree by you. He knows what you’re doing, but not your position. You take it slower. It’s agonizing to let your eyes catch up, but you do it. Katsurou is wearing himself out with those signs, it’s obvious. No more interruptions occur as you sneak closer.

Letting down Oreo, you start moving him forward along the ground before Jun gives a loud sigh. “You’re both playing it too safe. Don’t expect me to stand in one place like last time.” An hour must have passed while you stalked him and Katsurou harried him. Right as Oreo reaches misting distance, he jumps up into the tree above him. Crap. Oreo will stick out like a sore thumb on the tree.

Katsu stops signing and shakes out his hands. Looks like he might change strategies. As you look at him, you hear a jingle before the sound of lots of tiny objects rushing towards you.

Well fuck.

Also, for the non-mathematically minded, the chance of all 3 rolls being 30 or less is approximately the same as getting at least one critfail, so there's nothing wrong with Bo3 we're just having really shit luck.
