Wow. A hundred threads. A full hundred threads. Who would ever have thought it would get this far? It's all thanks to you, so give yourselves a hand! I'm Wong, of course, your host and narrator, and this time around you will once again be Pirate King Roarke Susan Starwind, the undefeated terror of the Solar System, pilot of the peerless Knuckle Kaiser, husband to six wives, and one of (if not THE) foremost aces in the Solar System. It's been a long and storied journey since you were just an officer, left for dead, floating through the void in a broken Harpy. Your surviving enemies have learned to fear you, and every day brings more and more followers into your fold. So, naturally, the format in which your fleet is displayed has changed somewhat, because it is now an entire country. Because I miscalculated and didn't realize the day I planned to run was Halloween. I plan on spending it with friends and family, and so should you, if you can! Consequently, the game itself will run on Wednesday...but this gives you a whole day to look over what I'm doing.First, as you may notice, there's a new pastebin. Putting your whole fleet in the Master Pastebin made sense when you only had a Pirate Fleet, but now that you have a Pirate Kingdom, I need a whole new system for that. It's simple, but with some help from Thunder I worked it out. If you look too early, the Master Pastebin might not be done, but by Wednesday everything will be ready. Starships will now have their own gallery, the same as mecha, so that for most ships you can simply look them up there and apply the crew stats and mecha complement from the Master Pastebin. For the moment I'm emptying out all your ships of mecha so you can reassign them as you like, or maybe I'll change my mind and do that myself.Second, as I said, colonies are now a thing you have, and as such, they have stats too...
>>2027838Also please dear God have a plan to prevent over micro managing of mecha.Like give us load out options?
>>2027853My plan is this. I'm taking all the mecha out of your ships. I'm giving you a bunch more, mostly tourney mecha. Then I'm going to probably put them back in, maybe with some player input. Among other things, you're also getting a ton of Rocs.I call this sort of bullshit "Miles doing procurement and financial management behind the scenes." I justify it because you just made a ton of money from ridding the system of Pale Slayer Meridian and because you have a steady stream of recruitment.
And after a brief moment of calculation, you have 500 Rocs, which will serve as your basic-bitch mooks. This is, of course, counting the few hundred Harpies that are now getting upgraded from Red Siren's forces. Your Harpies and Bluegills are getting folded into these.
So, Colonies. Here are yours. There are more in the process of joining, and a bunch of empty Martian and Jovian bases that are yours in theory but you haven't moved into or invested any bases into yet.~Auditorium~Food Requirement: 4Food Production: 4Materials Requirement: 4Materials Production: 1Mecha Production Lines: 3~16-Psyche~Food Requirement: 3 (will increase over time)Food Production: 2 (will increase over time)CURRENT Materials Requirement: 11 (9 when repairs are complete)CURRENT Materials Production: 13 (will increase over time) Mecha Production Lines: 8~Suleiman-2~Food Requirement: 2Food Production: 3Materials Requirement: 2Materials Production: 2Mecha Production Lines: 1~Suleiman-3~Food Requirement: 3Food Production: 4Materials Requirement: 1Materials Production: 2~Suleiman-4~Food Requirement: 2Food Production: 2Materials Requirement: 1Materials Production: 4
Decided to make something fun in honor of our hundredth thread, here is our current list of kills and disables (obviously only counting those we've fought in threads).
>>2027868And further broken down based on enemy aces we've fought.
I'll try to explain this despite being a little fried from adjusting it so much.>>2027863As you'll notice, Colonies have four basic stats, plus additional things like Mecha Production Lines and eventually shipyards. Food Requirement is how many units of Food (this encompasses everything needed to live, "Food" is just how I'm simplifying it) the colony needs per month. The larger the colony, the more Food Requirement it has.Food Production is how many units of Food the colony produces in a month. If it's equal to Food Requirement, it's self-sufficient (or in the case of Auditorium, brings in enough money to easily afford supplies from elsewhere). If it's less, the colony has to get food from your other colonies (hopefully you have a surplus). If it's greater, it gives you a surplus, which can make up the gaps elsewhere.Materials work the same way as Food, with slightly different calculations. It's tied to how many Mecha Production Lines (and Shipyards) you have. You can shut down Mecha Production Lines (we'll worry about Shipyards once you have some) to reduce the Materials Requirement of a colony by one per line. So Auditorium is normally self-sufficient when it's not actively building mecha (or virtually all industry shutting down with Red Siren spending her loot surplus to upgrade the Rhinehawk via plot). They'll also have starship-scale weapons and a ton of starship-scale armor (SP 400+) that can be used in your defense if you fight a battle at one of your colonies, but I haven't added those in yet.Don't have enough food? You'll have problems. Don't have enough materials? Mecha Production Lines will shut down and if you still don't have enough you'll have problems. Fortunately, you have a surplus of both for now, in part due to the Suleiman colonies which, while small, have large farms and asteroid mining. Suleiman 2 also had a facility to serve as a backup to Suleiman 1. No secret technology there, sadly, but it does have a Production Line. You also have your military base colonies. These aren't even listed until you activate them, sending people there and jumpstarting their industry. They WILL have substantial anti-ship and anti-mecha defenses for their size, and also Mecha Production Lines...but each and every one is deficient in Food and Materials Production, because they're supposed to be supplied by Mars and Jupiter (and now by you). The SSL planets will maintain them until you take possession of them.Offhand, I'd say their stats are as follows.~Military Colony~Food Requirement: 1Food Production: 0Materials Requirement: 1Materials Production: 0Mecha Production Lines: 1Very simply, these bases are a way to turn your surplus into more Mecha Production Lines, and if attacked the garrison can at least hold out long enough to call for help, usually.
>>2027881That should actually be Materials Requirement: 2. Oops.As for mecha, what I had in mind didn't work, so I'll sleep on it and update it tomorrow.
>>2027884Why not just assign them as "unit blocks". Like each squad of different mecha types give a unit a number of die to roll for offense/defense. Like Harpies give 1 attack die and zero defense. Special squads have modifier abilities.A stealth squad of Shinobi gives 1 reroll, 1 attack and 1 defense (I have no actual idea of power levels but you get the idea) representing it's ability to strike from cloak. If the reroll is (x) or (x and higher) they get to re-cloak and reroll again. That way you're treating battle groups as sort of individual encounters so that you aren't micromanaging the battles. They're more like PCs with special abilities.Except main character fights. Micromanage those.
>>2027868>Tulwar pic is Mecha Tengumy nigga
>>2027838The fucking Rhinehawk is stupidly fast, holy shit. Tanky too with that projector screen
>>2027941We need to get ALL THE scientists to help Karen along.
>>2027838It is good to see you Wong. Congrats on making 100 threads and thank you for the show. Now, as a sort of 100 thread present, I have been working on something the last week. It's done, but requires polish; The Whydah.https://pastebin.com/VrD8zKUmUsed a whole bunch of ideas to make this baby. It's incredibly fast, highly customizable, and 100% Phaeton. Figured rather than Bass Frames and Mustangs, we could produce these if need to.Either way, have a good halloween, will be heading to a party myself so I am thankful for the consideration.
>>2027838Here's to another hundred threads.
>>2027871Da Hell, when did Roarke fought SKUNK?
>>2028217The obstacle course of the tourney
>>2028173> Because when having trouble figuring out how to make the Mecha work, what he really needs is another munchkin Mecha to reviewLol. I actually think you've done a really good job there. Just - timing maybe isn't so great? Something to look at integrating later on though for sure.
>*FANGIRLING LIKE NEVER BEFORE*This is a dream coming true....It just happens that I love micromanagement.I'll read the thread and I'll be right back.
>>2027863>>2027881So, we currently have 1 Extra Food and 3 Extra Materials. Will the Suleiman Colonies ever increase their Food or Materials output? Is it possible to make the Military colonies self sustaining?
>>2027863Which Suleiman Colony was gutted by Fairchild again?
>>2027838Firstly...CONGRATULATIONS ON THE 100TH THREAD MARK, WONG!!!!!!!And it should be us thanking yoy for allowing us to experience this awesome life experience that is being here and making part of this unmatched group narrative that is MSPQ, which unites people from all over the world into this ragtag band of pirates, mecha designers and friends that we call the kestrels (even if we kind of want to kill one another sometimes). You know, I think we should celebrate this somehow.... But it won't be the same without you here, so I'll wait before anything. Now about the micromanaging shenanigans.Firstly, I want to throw a unorthodox idea, but its just a idea, not my main suggestion... So, if the qst already work like some sort of democracy, we could just name a some sort of "Micromanaging Ministry" and have the people in charge of it to deal with the micromanaging shenanigans of troops and inform the decisions... I mean... Me, Thunder and Ducth are crazy enough to keep track of thousand of statistics, shady rules, and killcounts... Keep tracking of mecha numbers isn't far of our usual shenanigans.>>2027884>>2027923Yep.This is reasonable idea, to have the mecha split into pirate squads of 5 members and turned into unit statistics.A good way to deal with them is to use them in battle like ships, fuse their kills into single stat and turn thei armor into ship scale with weapon damage being multiplied x10... Then apply the rules of each shoot reducing the armor by 1d10 and you have Unit Stats.(In case of amor varing from limb just divide the total SP by the number of limbs)For example, a Pumpkinseed squad would have:170 Kills50 SPWeapons:WA+1, 60K SwordWA+1, 30K Beam gun....Etc..The only thing we would need to rework is the crits, though.
>>2027936I cannot see it as anything other than a B-2 Spirit...I have no idea why.
>>2029831Think we can salvage it?
>>2030001It would take a shit ton of materials to rebuild the hull and all the infrastructure, but it should be doable.
>>2030006Something to consider long into the future.Self-sustaining military stations seems more doable in the meantime.
>>2030001Thing was cored and vented into vacuum. We're almost likely better off rebuilding a new one and just melting this one for parts and raw material.
>>2030006>>2030016Honestly at this point it's probably better to salvage the parts for raw materials instead of trying to rebuild an entire colony.
>>2030028>>2030033Building a new one doesn't seem as effective when the basic structure of one already exists. But, again, it's a project for consideration far into the future. A more immediate and useful goal would be making any military stations we acquire self-sustaining. Ideally, I'd like to make Auditorium Self-Sustaining as well.
>>2030033Its still a huge chunk of a colony, once we get Psyche up and running we won't be needing for materials.
Weren't the Suleiman's responsible for a good portion of Fatima's Dad's wealth?
>>2030001>>2030006Most of what was salvageable was used to help building the new Rhinehawk. So, probably not.
>>2029939Having only certain players micromanage and play parts of the quest is the worst idea ever.Having crrtain players work with Wong outside of threads to come up with different options go present the players is not a bad idea, but also debatable if it's even necessary. Also for simplicity sake, most units would have to have standardized equipment and at most a single unique weapon.Micromanaging is toxic on this site. Either only some players get to do it, or you have people fighting over the minutae of literally a hundred different things.
>>2030230Okay, I'm sorry if I said something stupid, I don't go outside of this thread much anymore, so whats is the problem with micromanaging and why people have problems with it? I assumed that it was because of people just not wanting to be bothered to do it, and thats why I suggested the "micromaning board of directors".If the problem is having people fight of minutae, does it even applies here? We would be just mostly moving troops around ONCE, and maybe some other times when the Raiding crews manage to go back after planets shenanigans.... And we just have a bunch of mecha to split, we aren't upgrading individuals mechs one by one or something like this.Even if we got choices like "Spend X CP on mechs" I doubt that we would go too nuts with it, probably 4 or 5 anons would throw up some different options on how to spend it, and the rest would choose and correct course from that...There is also the fact that the tourney showed that having something to occupy us with outside of the playtime helps to focus disscussion and avoid the worse of shitposting.... And since that some anons are just throwing more and more ships and mecha ideas with no focus because we don't have somewhere to vent them anymore.
For curiosity sake... How would you guys prefer to split the 500 Rocs between our ships and colonies?
>>2030363Not by simply assign 'this number here', 'this number there'.The best way would be to create ORBAT Templates. At the very least, we need 2 differing types. Fleet Air Wing and Garrison Duties.Say a Garrison Duties Orbat is 3-4 Squadrons of Rocs. We can then easily specify Divisions to garrison specific colonies. Units can then also be easily transferred between operational areas in strength and not piecemeal.
>>2030412>ORBAT TemplatesHmmmm... But your structure seems to rely in personnel distribution, while the whole mech thing seems to rely on equipment distribution, with each of the ships and colonies having their own micromanagement led by each captain our colony governor. Also, IC pirates use squads of 5, but that could change now that we are an nation.
>>2029962You mean like this?
>>2030465Both go hand in hand. With both, either is useless.Right now definitely, crews will likely stay together under their own captains, just that reorganisation will help to form them up and incorporate them into an armed forces structure while keeping them intact.Say for example the Stone Soldiers pilots:Likely formed into an over-strength division of 5 squadrons that will still be attached to their ship. Also, based off our old pastebin, our fleet itself has somewhere in the region of 400 or so mechs. Rocs alone outnumber that since we'll likely be staffing our fleet with a mix of tourny mechs as well, we'll have a large number left over for garrison duties. The templates are there to help in the formation of new units that will be independent of the current crews, for a time when we transit to a proper navy, where units can be swapped from ship to ship without much trouble.
>>2030540I get it now... So for now we should focus in Ship Squads with a exchangeable garrison that will serve as an example for our forces in the future... Makes sense. One thing I would like to mention before I forget is that we should refrain for sending many Rocs to our outer systems expeditions...First, because we need to keep spaces for our loot, and not only for the usual loot but for the mechas we loot too... What should keep in our minds that we need to make each mecha slot as useful as it can be.Second(but still linked to the first), is that the only advantage the Rocs have on our other mechs is that they are absurdly fast, but they aren't that useful to direct combat against Knights and the like(unless they are on numerical advantage, I've done some simulations and 2 or 3 Rocs usually win against some heavier machines). So I think that we should maintain a max of only 2 squads of Rocs for the Yamato and Harmonium for the first trip, a full the rest of their space with Shinobi Harpies and Tourney mechs(and in the case of the Harmonium their Morgan's II squad).
A Roc is basically a transforming Bluegill, right?
>>2030611It also has wings and MA10 if I'm not mistaken.I lost the link to its sheet, but the Wings give it a MA bonus that gets reduced by the aditional weight... So it is probably not far from that.Thta mean that during jet mode it can fly 1KM per turn.
>>2030576Don't forget we also have to protect Phaeton.I wonder if we can get some sort of rapid response "pocket carriers" that can quickly respond to raids against our colonies/outposts with various levels of strength.
>>2030640>Don't forget we also have to protect Phaeton.I just said that we shouldn't send many Rocs with the Yamato and the Harmonium to out of the system... How does that goes agaisn't protecting the Belt if most of the Rocs remain?Besides, we will still have the Stone Soldiers and at least an Avalonian ship full of Knights(which we should update into Ulfberth and Templar as fast as possible) chilling out here.... We don't need to have the bulk of our new elite mook forces here when they are going to be vital elsewhere.>Pocket CarriersUse the transport ships, we have at least 7 of them, we could have one of them in each colony while one go to each outer system mission. They can hold 4 Squads of mech no? Make it 2 Roc squad, One Shinobi harpy and a special squad for each of them.
>>2030663The important question is where will our wives duties take them. Kate stays with us because a) protection and b) she's our engineer.Fatima is probably the best to keep in-system for political issues as well as her ties to Mars.Siren is also valuable for maintaining the popular opinion of us, also her role as the Pirate Queen of Auditorium. Then again, she could be useful for a Minmei Offense on her first extra-solar tour de force. I bet we could even get people intentionally trying to get kidnapped and robbed by Roarke and Red together.Clemmy I feel should be kept to training actually. At first. She has experience as a trainer first of all, and second we need her to make a Maenad Squad. Fuck Valkyries, Maenads are where it's at. Also keeps up the Greek theme. Kind of like reverse Amazons, they're looking for a strong man to beat and marry (as opposed to being beaten by).So that leaves Sam and Lori as the Raiders. Lori will be super useful against Avalonian allies because nothing ruins the propaganda of an infallible goddess like a heretic. Sam is ideal for scouting and raiding. They get along reasonably well also. Lori could even bait out Knights to attack her and over-extend themselves while Sam ambushes them.
>>2030663If we're stationing them in-system, though, why don't we just have them on the actual stations?
>>2030763>Kate stays with us because a) protection and b) she's our engineer.Karen.
>>2030763Wong has mentioned that there will be political repurcussions for lori having to engage avalonian troops. Since we know that the duke and co seem to have some sort of plot going, we should avoid that since it might damage their cause. In that case, I think Lori would be good on the homefront. Since shes a good mix of martial and leadership with a healthy does of charisma, like wong has mentioned. She'll work up loyalty of our colonies.
>>2030763I agree with you in almost everything>MaenadsWe could have both, have Clemmy train a maenad squad while Siren trains a Amazon squad, and then let them compete against each other.>SamWe NEED Sam with Beckingham in the Moonbash raid, she is probably the only one who can do "Cloak&Dagger meets Labyrinthian Politics" from our aces... I also really want to recommend Garreth and Marciana to go with her, Garreth because we need a stealth backup in the case Sam is too ocuppied to do the actual Stealth stuff or in the case she needs to prove that isn't the Not!SpaceBatman that is sabotaging people by being in the same place as it at the same time.Marcy because she is our only ace with experiences with nobles and politics that isn't occupied with more important matters, even if she will be out of her area of expertise.>Lori>>2030913THIS.One more thing to consider is to give a colony for Lori to protect and establish her base at, having the Avalonians mix with the general population is good long time strategy but for short time will create attrition because of their different culture, so giving them a place to... be avalonians and stuff... Could be helpful...Also, I feel sad about her losing her palace and everything she had on avalonian grounds... I think its more than fair to give her a Palace or something to remind her of home while we don't get her lands back.
You know, I just had an idea to celebrate our 100th Thread aniversary! What if we played a game?To play, firstly reply to this post choosing your team:>UJCIDF TEAM>AVALONIAN TEAMAnd remember to stop me if I'm commiting any heresy to any social rules for basket weaving nepalese boards that I don't know about.
>>2031006Dude, go do something else for a bit, play vidya or read something else.
>>2031032I'm playing P5 while I keep an eye on the thread, i just wanted to do something special for the 100th anniversary....
>>2031040It's a nice gesture, but sometimes showing appreciation is doing what you have done before with a bit more gusto. Milestones don't need to be overly fancy.>>2028833Wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last. Still, the idea was something akin to how Irina described the Mega Bass and Soul units; A high quality piece of hardware showing what we can do.. though, with a twist. Rather than handing out Whydah to anyone with money, sell and customize them to up coming aces. A ranks or 17ers. those who are not quite named ace or have their own unique machines. Customizable to what they need, and decked out in some of the better tech available. Like one of those really fancy cars, customized for the client with potential for more and sold to those who can handle it and would appreciate it, as opposed to the Megacorp practice of 'give enough money and you can have a horribly over engineered machine' like Rashad or that one planetary leader had. Also, the arms, odd as they are happen to have an important use; what they can hold one handed, our medium strikers can hold with two. It would help with standardization of weaponry only having to worry about 5 spaces and 10 spaces.
>>2031040Who is best girl?
>>2031164Sam is best girl.
>>2031180He's playing P5.
>>2031180Weird way to spell `Clemmy`. Sam is a strong contender though.
>>2031164>>2031184Difficult question, I still don't have a favorite, it may be just because of little playing time(as I 'm still in Kaneshiro's Palace) but I didn't cared much about any of the options that already showed up... I just don't feel attached to any of the concepts that showed up.
Also... this is how I would split the Rocs250 To the Colonies10 per each of the transport ships staying at the Belt.10 to the Yamato and 10 for the Harmonium.60 to the Rhinehawk.30 for the Cleander, 40 for the Heart of Sunshine and 30 for the Goshawk.10 on each Avalonian Ship.
>>2027863How are you going to rule the mecha production lines? Do they generate "X" CP per line as in the book? Or do they just produce mecha?

>>2032017>>2032020I'm not saying she did kill him, I'm saying she thinks she killed him. She was the Slayer we fought at Auditorium.
>>2032688>I'm saying she thinks she killed himShe doesn't think she killed him. She's saying it as a joke like haha I guess you could say I killed him. Cabot did the deed.
>>2032706Cabot is a sadistic cunt though who would probobly cop to anything if she thought it would deliver the hurt shot since she was untouchable. Also since the first mate appeared after she died and the bits stuck in the Kaisers fingers didn't show her as some cyborg receiver for the real First Mate. it means that the first two encounters with the First mate have a high probability of not being Cabot.
>>2032743The description Duncan gave of CCC's killer has the body shape of Cabot and she herself confirmed to do it there is no reason to really think she didn't do it.
>>2032752Yes, Cabot killed CCC.I'm saying our first encounter with her as the First Mate happened after Auditorium. The First Mate we fought for the First time was the one who is currently alive. It treats itself as having killed CCC for some reason. We can ask Wong once he gets back.
>>2032796No, if for the fact that the way they talked wouldn't match up if she wasn't at Auditorium. Cabot was vicious and blunt the whole time and that fits the Auditorium one. The one with Jesus? Way too cagey and smart. She also knew all about the ASP system.. which she used again when facing Caesar.
>>2033028To me it seemed that The one at Auditorium was deranged in the same way as the one Caesar fought.
>>2033133Not really. Cabot was all about the glory and was petulent, getting mad and more akin to jabs. She never saw herself as 'heroic' like the one Caesar fought, and her methods were more sheer damage and destruction. She didn't play smart either. This is important when you consider that how our Old Captain died was through using asteroids and a ambush to come at us. It also makes me think of their preference as well. Missiles seemed more the Second Slayer's thing, while Cabot seemed more Melee.
>>2033028Just checking, but what's the current consensus on what the First Mate is? I'm thinking some kind of infomorph, be it a proper AI or some variant of neural upload.

Power is out at my place and has been out since I got home. Going to a relative's, but it's unlikely I'll get the space to properly write tonight. Possibly after they go to bed.Regarding micromanaging, no. I'm avoiding it as much as possible. Regarding Mook Mecha... I'm actually leaning in a different direction. Narratively there is no way I'd be rolling dice for a full-scale battle between hundreds of mecha. No, just no. It would therefore be fluff as, so far, most actions with your mecha fleet have been. Individually circumstances might lead to squads of them needing stats, but if that happens it's easy to whip up. The more I considered it, the more I realized that the simplest way to do this in general is to avoid being specific about how many mecha of what types you have even if you know generally. Ships are different because you CAN and DO have fleet battles with them where the big role mecha play is rolling for crits, plus ships are present in smaller numbers. My apologies for the technical issues.
>>2033323How'd your power go out?
>>2033323Hmmm... Are you sure? I feel like it would take away part of the fun of collecting new mechs when they aren't going to be accounted for into our forces anyway...And about battles with hundreds and mecha and stuff... Can't we just do it like in that one Ceasar session in where he fought an entire army of Bluegills? Mainly QM the aces part first(as they are going to be sucession of smaller fights that are going to end up severely reducing the number of mecha involved on the scene) and then maybe fluffing the rest depending on what survive of the forces? Is the risk of it getting out of hand that bad?I kind of wanted to see mook combat for a change... But I'll be ok with whatever comes out of this anyway...
>>2033378Dude, if you want us to micromanage everything, than participation is going to drop like a meteor because only a very select few are autistic enough to do that for a quest. Most people are just here to enjoy a good story and occasional provide input when needed.

>>2033418I've never said that we should roll everything at every chance, I just said that IMHO knowing how many mecha we had in each ship adds to the fun, and that we don't need to have hundreds of mecha rolling in everybattle in order for them to be of any use in it.
>>2033474Yup. General consensus is that Cabot was FM at Suleiman and Auditorium while the other times was a different First Mate.
>>2033474Idle musings about who and what he/she is. I'm pretty certain it's some kind of of Informorph, but there are no shortage of ways to fake pseudo-immortality. >>2035296Too random, you could end up with 10 Harpies winning against 100 Bluegills because of a random roll.Focusing the action on our aces wouldn't change much, as it is what always happened before... We could also just rule that only mecha who surrender or that are taken diwn by the aces count as loot, with the rest being coverted to repairs for our own troops... And if you want to make the casualties more "real" we could just copy the "Enemy Ace POV" mechanic from the Psyche-16 episode and have the enemie's aces fight our mooks...And I'm just quoting things already used, not aditional complications.

But a blade has a purpose and a meaning. In the future we have to to have a sgian-dubh if you want a little polite murder blade.> The black dagger (sgian-dubh) was usually carried in a place of concealment very often under his armpit (or oxter). This gives support to the view that 'black' does not refer only to the colour of the handle but implies 'covert' – as in (as stated previously) blackmail or black market. When the Highlander visited a house on his travels having deposited all his other weapons at the front door he did not divest himself of his concealed dagger, since in these far off days it was unsafe to be ever totally unarmed, not because he feared his host but rather because he feared intrusions from outside. “Are we ready for gate projection yet?” You ask for the sixth or seventh time in the last hour, fidgeting in the Captain's Chair of the Rhinehawk and idly rolling one of the captured game pieces between your fingers. You're playing checkers against someone via the ansible connection, since each of you has a board.Brunhilde, doing her real job for once instead of working the Rhinehawk's bar, shakes her head, “Not yet, Admi-er, your kingship. I've set a timer to go off and alert you the moment the microgate generator is recharged.” Her attention barely leaves her nails, which she's working on patiently.“I don't think 'your kingship' is the right term.” Maya, Avi's girlfriend, remarks uncertainly, “Your highness, maybe?”“Loriette says it's 'majesty' for sitting, uh, kings and stuff.” Avi replies, from where he's recalibrating the ship's weapons systems. “It's too complicated.” Brunhilde grumbles, “Boss is fine, right boss?”You wave the question off. Titles don't concern you very much.Colonel Stern, occupying one half of the split screen that the main holo-monitor is currently displaying, raises an eyebrow and makes his next move on his own set, “A commander must learn patience, or he can be baited into mistakes. Being a great warrior is practically easy compared to the difficulties inherent in leading large masses of troops.”You grumble affirmatively, and look over at Miles, occupying the other half of the screen and seated in her temporary office somewhere in Red Siren's palace on Auditorium. It's remarkably neat, though you're not sure whether you can attribute that to her or not, “Have you been able to get a call through to California Station?”[Continued]

“Gee, Dude, you think maybe if I had I would have told you? Old Man Checkers is right. You're about as patient as...as...” Miles fumbles for a simile and fails to find it, shaking her head, “Fuck it. Look, you can guess why maybe the Hextarchs might be stalling, right?”You can. California Station, by custom, as a nominally independent outpost, is run by a council of six, known as the Hextarchy. Some people say that Sextarchy is grammatically correct, but it doesn't sound quite as dignified even if you might privately think Sextarch is a good title to have. One representative elected (by those who are willing to pay the poll tax) from each of California Station's four colonies, plus the chief executive of the California Station Shipyards and the elected spokesman (no payment required to vote, just company membership) of the California Station Shipyards' workers. All of which, in the past, have been subordinate to the Jovian and Martian militaries by virtue of not wanting to be on the business end of a warship. Corruption and shifty dealings are practically a tradition among the Hextarchy, bribery was common in the event of a 3-3 split, and that was how the four California Station pirate bands managed to spring up. Operating under a truce negotiated by Captain Jeremiah Ozark of the Iron Kestrels, it forged peace between the Iron Kestrels, Red Siren's fans (the least native and least present of the groups, but they do still have a foothold on California Station as a place to distribute her merchandise more on the up-and-up than Auditorium itself), the Storm Dragons, and the Stone Soldiers. While you operated in the shadows, the Sextarchy was happy to leave you alone. Now, however, the situation has changed substantially. You've been gone for months, and in that time you've taken a very loose association whose rules were based predominantly on an abundance of loot and no real need to fight over targets and turned it into an actual military alliance. You're coming back with a fleet, as the head of a nation, and with every reason to claim California Station as your territory with the existing governing body completely unable to stop you. Naturally, they might see the end of the gravy train they've shamelessly ridden fast approaching, and naturally they might not be happy about it. Stomping grounds or not, you need to be careful, Meridian wanted you here for a reason. However, “It still doesn't make sense.” You remark. “I'd expect them to put you off, make you talk to an aide, arrange a meeting...whatever it takes to act like this isn't a complete and total conquest, so that they can maybe negotiate to continue running the colony under my banner. But you say they're not responding at all?”[Continued]

Alright, time to start, Buddy.
>>2038196That would be a great catchphrase for Walter.....
Miles nods, frowning, “That's right. They're not responding, nobody in California Station's government is even picking up. Many of our old contacts aren't, either, and the ones that are are street-level criminals who don't know anything. Oh, except that, obviously, with you gone the local gangs and small-time criminals have gotten a lot more cocksure. Even that information is probably out of date, though, they can't know that the Belt is Iron Kestrels turf now, entirely, or they should have come crawling in to surrender first and get in while the getting's good, right?”Her logic makes sense, “Or Meridian killed them all.”She snorts, “Him and what infrastructure? Nobody's reporting chaos or begging for us to come save them, although like I said, the local gangs are a lot more bold than they used to be. The owner of that bar we used to meet at, the one you came back from the dead at, was run over by a ground car a few weeks ago. His niece is running his place now, she was one of the more knowledgeable people I was able to get ahold of.” “Thank goodness for that.” You remark, then turn to Stern, “Colonel, how many ships does the UJCIDF have in the vicinity?” You're not willing to commit to an allied show of force, but it might be useful, and you're undecided on that front.“None.” He replies phlegmatically, grimacing as you take another of his pieces off the board. “Everyone of Captain rank or above is being scrutinized to make sure we don't have any Fairchild sympathizers plotting trouble, the War Marshall is a thorough sort of man. To avoid the possibility of a conflict with your people, we've removed all of our military assets from California Station, and the Martians have done the same.” He sighs, “Speaking of rank, they're promoting me to General.”“Congratulations.” You say with complete sincerity. He shakes his head, “Against my will. Rudolph bullied me into it, he claims he's been out of things too long and absolutely needed someone he could rely on. I offered a list of other candidates to run SOUL and he crumpled it up and threw it away. The only concession I could make is that they're letting me keep the Cincinnatus instead of forcing me to take the Iulia Maesa. Strongest ship in the fleet or not, she's not my ship. I know every rivet on the Cincinnatus, we've grown old together, and she's the only one I need. I'm letting Trevor, the older Luxol boy, have the Maesa. Speaking of ambitious young men with battleships, to an ambitious young man with a battleship, Grand Admiral Jorgenssen has a request for you.”You frown, remembering the pale Martian, “What does he want?” You're expecting a meeting, some way for him to gain an alliance, likely dragging you into the inevitable succession struggle after Hakim passes on. A struggle you suspect on some level you're already involved in.[Continued]
>>2038230Roarke, you married the richest woman on Mars. Of course you're involved.
>>2038252Heck, Hakim likely sees Roake as the (future) father of his heir.
He strokes his beard, “It's really rather strange. He wants your lieutenant, the Mohammed boy, with him on Dwakim. Apparently he's heard good things about him, and as fellow Martians they should get along. Or maybe he just wants someone to balance out Captain Oda.” His voice is rather dry. You'd committed, prior to leaving the Academy in something of a hurry, to sending the Harmonium to Monbash and the Yamato to Dwakim, with the chance of secondary vessels to support them. After all, you don't want to lock yourself in to anything. “Both possibilities.” You shrug, then sigh. Mohammed deserves a chance to command, he's handled himself exceptionally well on multiple occasions. “Him being an officer on the Rhinehawk makes that complicated, I'm not sure I'm comfortable just assigning him by himself to a Martian ship...” Because Fatima has taught you about how the hierarchies of Muslim noble families might make their officers view him as a dangerous outsider and a threat, “...Or to the Storm Dragons...” Where he'd have an effectively higher rank than Oda's own officers. Abruptly, you have an idea, “Samantha?”“Mmm?” Your wife stretches in the spare chair where she's been sneaking a nap, opening one eye and tilting her fancy officer's cap up, smiling tentatively, “Sorry Colonel, sorry Roarke, I must have drifted off.”You smile and lean over to kiss her cheek, “Go tell Mohammed he's been promoted to Captain of the Goshawk. Tell him to requisition a few squads of officer mecha on Auditorium to supplement its complement of Rocs, he's free to alter the personnel and mecha setup on board as he likes, and take Inari Sune as his First Mate. I'll let him work out who his Bosun is for himself. Then go to bed, you've been up much too long.”“So have you.” She ripostes. You grin at her, “I couldn't sleep even if I wanted to. Do I need to make this an order?”“Isn't it already?” She teases, standing up, dusting herself off, and giving you a hug, “Come to bed at some point, please.”You nod without promising anything, unsure that you even could sleep, and she departs with a sway of her hips...trading venomous glances with the girl who slinks onto the bridge behind her.“Roaaaarke, are we there yeeeet?” The Butcher complains, resting her breasts on your head and letting her arms hang down around her shoulders, “I didn't get a chance to show that bastard who he was interfering with!” She complains even more, “I'm angry and I don't have anyone I can take it out on that wouldn't get me in trouble!”[Continued]

Then she growls to herself, “Forget it. Sorry, Brunny. Heya Colonel.” She glances up at Stern.“You've certainly grown.” He remarks neutrally, “That's a very mature response.”She preens, “I've got responsibilities and stuff now.”“So you do. Not picking on any of your husband's underlings, are you?” He inquires. She rolls her eyes and grumbles, hugging you like a teddy bear, “As if I'd do that!” She quickly changes the subject before Maya or Brunhilde...or worse, Miles...can say otherwise, “Inari's a good choice, I overheard that part. She's ex-military. Not too keen on commanding anyone, but her experience will be good for training Moe.” She sighs, “He's a good kid but I still miss Caesar. That crazy boy would do anything for someone he loves, I admire that.” Of course she does, you reach up and pat her head accordingly.A beeping notification on the holoscreens built into the arms of your chair informs you that the Rhinehawk is ready for immediate warp, finally.>[Go straight to California Station alone]>[Go straight to California Station with the Yamato]>[Go back to Auditorium, gather more ships, and go to California Station with them, although it takes longer]

>>2038528>[Hail the colonies and demand their surrender from your ship]
>>2038597Look for possible ambush set ups, or anything that could give them an edge over us by taking us by suprise.Yes, in space then, around an on the colonys outside structure I mean.
>>2038577Not sure. Also, >>2038547 the Wraith. If I recall it also has really good stealth as well.>>2038597Not so much blasting, but seeing where areas are congested and to have them serve as a rescue/possible exfiltration team. I wouldn't be surprised if they have hostages or ambushes ready. Having the means to counter it would be a good idea.
>>2038615Uhhhhh.... Maybe we give them the coordinates to jump behind an enemy ship and HANABI?Ambush in the sense of making them go for us and them having reinforcementes show up in a advantageous position.
>>2038615Well, more like having it Jump after the Rhinehawk, as >>2038629said. As is, I am trying to think of a plan or means to mitigate the trouble they will cause.Sides, I want to take the fight outside the colony in the worse case scenario.
>>2038625>>2038615Is Gareth and the Wraith abord at this moment?Have him find a spot from where to shoot people behind their backs and outside their range then, he should be fast enough to keep them away even if his on the station hull when hordes of enemy mech get out of the hangars.
>>2038635In either case, Meridian wanted us to go into the colony if I recall right. That is likely where the trap is.
>>2038528>>[Land and do what you need to do from there]
>>2038672>>2038721>1 post from this ID.Shady.
>>2038733Its the fact they won't even put their own two cents into the conversation that seems off. Never liked those sorts.
>>2038738Not only that, but they also created a draw.
>>2038733slim shadyi just turned back in for the votei was the guy talking about dune
>>2038629actually impossible. Takes 1 full turn for a ships weapons systems to come online after a jump. also >>2038528>[Land and do what you need to do from there]
>>2038751>>2038750You lot do realize that being inside the colony is exactly the plan that Meridian wanted for us and would likely cut us off from most of our support and mech? We won't be able to use the Kaiser in there or our ship and crew.
>>2038756Not unless we enter the colony in our Mech~It is the royal ride after all.
>>2038750Do you have proof? The ID isn't the same.>>2038751Please see:>>2038756 and >>2038649
>>2038528>>[Land and do what you need to do from there]Meridian probably planed to have something set up for WHEN we got there and he was still alive to get it set up. Killing Meridian when we did probably fucked up the plan alot, bring Clemmy with us as backup though.
>>2038757Which would be in the bay and not in the colony prior. Also>leaving the royal ride unpiloted in enemy territory when they are expecting you.You are asking for them to plant bombs or trying to outright destroy the Kaiser.
>>2038528Hail them, really just landing is a bad call.either Maridians trap is their and we walk into it, or the Hexachs view this as an invasion they are expecting which is why they have been refusing contact. either way landing right off seems like a bad call however you look at it.
>>2038766Its an invasion backed by Mars and Jove then and at that point theirs nothing they can do. If they kill Roarke they are completely fucked, thought that supposes they care about living without power.
>>2038770Mars and Jove are just not getting in our way, they aren't actively helping.Their plan always involved killing Roarke, they even outrightly sided with Avalon, they don't care about Jove and Mars already and expect a full blown war.And you plan on docking the Kaiser in enemy territory?
>>2038770I don't think the gangs or whomever are joining with the five man band are the brightest tools in the shed. They likely see a way to gain more power and are taking it.
>>2038770If they kill Roarke in their eyes shit goes back to normal. Phaeton collapses and they go back to buisness as usual. We know that just crossing Roarke is what actually fucks them but these are a group of oligarchs that have been living high off the hog with a very limited understanding of the interstellar political situation and we are, though scary, just an up jumped criminal punk from their station. That is assuming that they are in control at all which is unlikely. in which case we have zero intel on what to expect on the station.
>>2038766>>2038770the Hextarchs are politicians an gangsters, not warlords. By all accounts, they should be trying to buy or bargain their way into the new regime, not picking a fight with it. Someone else is calling the shots.
>>2038796Likely the 5 man band, the people who have had an eye on taking over the belt themselves, hence why we should not go in alone there.
>>2038733Just showed up bub.
>>2038789>>2038796Its pretty clear that the 5Megabytes is in contorl and planning an ambush that involves we getting into the station. And people want to do exactly that. When we don't even need to go in to take the station.WHY?
>>2038796The california pirates were weak. There is a reason for that. elsewhere in the belt pirates were pirates not our Broadway show types, the dead men tell no tales style. this is mostly because of mars and Jupiter wanting a buffer, but mostly its because California station was strong militarily when compared to Green skull tier pirates. you don't hold a linchpin trade post with just bribes and bargains.that said, Kestrals and 5 man band are all that remain, and their lack of comunitcation is likely they either did what would be expected of them, but with FMB and are now dead in which case we have no tactical knowledge of the situation. Or they are holding their cards close in hopes that they can bloody our nose to deny pirates their station. In both cases the stations at large have no clue whats happening and the only safe way of boarding the station is weapons hot, breaching and clearing which can go wrong in a million different ways. Worst case for boarding strait up, 5 man band had killed the Hexachs and rigged the station to blow as soon as we attack. best case one of the 5 man band is commanding a contingent on the station and will have zero care for collateral damage. both bad PR
>>2038825>They totally have nothing prepared for if two ships showed up not like the station is loaded to the teeth with antiship weaponry>Not like Roarke or at least Miles would probably know at least one back entrances into California station and could sneak in
>>2038834>A hundred mechs isn't able to crit the station until it can't defend itself.>Like they don't have bombs in every entrance when they literally have the best source of info on the entire station.Thunder, pls.
>>2038834Sneaking in through the back door is a completely different verbiage to >[Land and do what you need to do from there] that seems to imply docking our ships. We have only civilian level intel on the ground situation, so we hail them and send in Shinobis to scout.
>>2038851Either docking or going full boarding action which with at least three o'neill cylinder to contend with which our lack of intelligence also means we don't know where we are supposed to hit we didn't bring near enough manpower.
>>2038547Hey Wong, are you still there?
>>2038825Why would you not need to go in and take the station? Do you plan on starving out colonies that exist to farm enough food for and create enough oxygen to sustain the shipyards? Or damage the colonies until they start venting atmosphere like Suleiman 1?
>>2038948They can surrender their weapons in space. While we point guns at them.Without our people inside it where they can pull stuff on us.Also... I've got a feeling that the niece of the bar's previosu owner is going to be important somehow.
>>2038982>Have two ships>Thinking CALIFORNIA STATION will surrender
>>2038830>The california pirates were weak. There is a reason for that. elsewhere in the belt pirates were pirates not our Broadway show types, the dead men tell no tales style. this is mostly because of mars and Jupiter wanting a buffer, but mostly its because California station was strong militarily when compared to Green skull tier pirates. you don't hold a linchpin trade post with just bribes and bargains. While this isn't technically wrong, most pirate crews individually were the size of the Kestrels or smaller (and less renowned). The big fleets and legendary captains are their own special brand of predator.>Broadway show typesImagine being the Captain of...let's be generous and say you have a Channel or Efreet-sized pirate ship. You've got less than 70 mecha, which are Harpies. Your officers might have Bluegills or if you're lucky, Tulwars, and you might have a Tulwar or a lower-end Warmouth. Now imagine having to fight Red Siren in the Archen.
>>2038982I flat-out don't understand what you mean. You're going to point the weapons of your starships and mecha at the colonies and demand everyone with a weapon inside throw it out an airlock or something? That just...that doesn't make sense. How would you know everyone complied? What would you do if they didn't, murder a colony?
>>2038988It's a civilian station. It's not a matter of it being individually a strong place with mecha or warships of its own.
>>2039003>Point weapons>Make them surrender their mechas in space>March Troops through the gates. No main character needs to be exploded while going in.
>>2038995Even Oda who was on the lower spectrum of our Captains could be scary with his dual katanas and ace pilot skills, and thats not taking in consideration whatever his old First Mate piloted.I had I design that I did end up using that would be Akai's father mech... I Called it "The Silver Chariot".
>>2038995Addendum, California Station didn't need to be strong in a military sense, it would frequently have UJCIDF or MHM ships present. If the Green Skulls showed up, the Hextarchs would just have to batten down the hatches and scream for help. Consider what the Jaburo on its own did to the Green Skulls, then think about what the Cincinnatus (A-Class Crew, SOUL mecha onboard including S-Lionfish, and unlike the Jaburo not suffering from recent sabotage) could do. With a few Channels for backup Jupiter could go full boot-on-ant to the Green Skulls, the fact that they didn't do this at Suleiman 1 was one of the first suspicious things in this quest.>>2038834>>2038846You're both wrong. California Station isn't loaded with antiship weaponry the way Auditorium and 16-Psyche are, and you need specialized tools for a mech to damage colony hull at all, it's much stronger than a starship. Also venting a colony would be disastrous for your reputation.
>>2038948>>2038995>>2039003>>2039007>>2039015Wong... You forgot you trip. Were you risking being banned by /tg/ mods again?

>>2042158No, changing the party around is perfectly fine. If you start spending time with Hifumi, she'll teach you how to switch your party around during battle.
>>2042235Yeah, in 5 you can change you're party pretty mcuh whenever you want, so it's easy to keep them all pretty much the same level wise.in 3 and 4, though, you had to go back to the hub to switch characters, and characters not in the active party don't get experience.
>>2042259>>2042158Spend time with Mishima, his upgrades give experience to all party members. Also spend time with Kawakami. Her upgrades give you the most valuable resource of all: TIME.
>>2042282>Kawakami.For the love of god, this. she frees up so much fucking time holy shit.
>>2042293Kawakami is probably best girl.Kawakami is love, Kawakami is life.

Lieutenant Thunderbird said without a trace of sympathy, folding his arms across his chest, "Yes you have.""I...I'll just go now..." Brazilia made her lower lip wobble, intentionally pulling her bodice down slightly."Good. I suppose you should." Lieutenant Thunderbird surreptitiously looked around for his gunbelt, "It's for the best." He lifted a pillow, dislodging a pair of fuzzy handcuffs and a gag with a muted shudder to retrieve his belt, putting it on. No energy pistol, damn, he supposed he'd just have to keep looking....Only as he looked up, he found himself gazing into a pair of dewy, hopeful eyes, "You suppose? For the best? Oh DARLING, you were just thinking of my welfare! I knew you really loved me!" She threw herself at him like a mech-scale grenade.Lieutenant Thunderbird tried to reply, but her arms around his neck were too tight, and call he could produce were muted, choked noises of pure horror that she utterly misinterpreted. "You want to marry me!? Oh, it's so sudden~ Yes, of course da~r~ling~" Brazilia's feet kicked as she rubbed her cheek against the Lieutenant's chest, the extra weight pulling him off balance and back onto the bed.Yet again, the brave Lieutenant had found himself in a terrible pickle!

It's difficult to decide on a plan, there are pros and cons to each, but...you decide to do things with a little pomp. You'll make sure they can't ignore you. Naturally, you won't turn the guns of your starships on the colony, but whatever is waiting for you, you'll deal with it in the manner it deserves. Swift, brutal force.Your two ships pierce the veil of space like knives, emerging into the void around California Station outside of sensor distance. Now to begin with the first stage of your plan. Maya accesses the nearest ansible and begins speaking quietly into her comms unit, delivering your instructions to Auditorium to prep both of your Avalonian troopships for battle and immediate gate. Once she's finished, you tap a button on the arm of your chair and address both your ship and the Yamato, “Stealth teams Betta, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, launch at will. Follow the preset flight paths. Samantha, you're in charge. Be careful and come back to me in one piece, okay?” Clemmy makes a face, and grumbles, “If it was me, you'd KNOW I'm coming back in one piece...”Mecha launch in squads, the Shinobis first, then Samantha in the Betta with the first two squads of Wraiths produced from 16-Psyche. You've had time to update the Rhinehawk's mecha complement, and you prioritized building a few more stealth mecha to back Samantha up on her sneaking missions. Switching from old-fashioned five-man pirate squads to three-man squads that frequently work in pairs has been a difficult transition for your units, but you're confident in it. One Betta, six Wraiths, and twelve Shinobis split up to canvass the colony as your ships slowly cruise into sensor range.Brunhilde does something with the controls at her desk, and designations...names and ship classifications...begin to pop up all over the mass of small starships swarming around California Station, moving in and out of its docks. The sight of them makes you frown. Little commercial transports, for the most part, with a few elderly cruisers with the patchwork hull armor and slovenly look you associate with scavvies, it's an appearance you get familiar with quickly in the Belt. A few fat merchant boats, bulk cargo carriers, move demurely out of your way as the massive, hex-winged Rhinehawk moves closer at ¼ maximum thrust, “Maya, hail the station. Highest priority frequency.”Clemmy makes a happy little noise of anticipation and nips your earlobe, “I've been waiting for this~” She purrs. [Continued]
Maya nods, and adjusts something on her controls, then nods and gives you a thumbs-up. You suppose that means it's time for you to speak. You stand up, boot electromagnets clicking as they lock against the floor, “This is Pirate King Roarke Starwind, speaking. Pursuant to the Treaty of Auditorium signed and validated by Planetary Chairman Luxol of Jupiter and the Caliph Hakim of Mars...” You hope you pronounced pursuant right, “...I am here to fulfill Phaeton's charter as a member of the Solar System League and protector of the Belt by taking immediate possession of California Station. Business will continue as usual, but this territory is now under my control, effective immediately. Acknowledge, or face immediate sanction.” Sanction is a word you're only newly familiar with, but it feels good to use. It's an intimidating word, and one whose meaning varies from a meaningless show of opposition to a polite way of saying that your army will inflict grievous seizure of property on an opposing party. The silence stretches on for a few minutes, “Don't make me hit somebody.” You joke, although you're quite serious. Meridian wanted you to come here for a reason, and your danger senses have the hair on the back of your neck prickling like a porcupine's ruff. Bizarrely, it seems to work.Maya looks up from her instruments, “Sir, we have a transmission...it's a private call, though, from Colony 1.”“Onscreen. You order. She goes to obey, then hesitates, “Ah...we just got another one. This one's from the asteroid.” Meaning the one at the center of the four colonies, holding the shipyards and administrative buildings used by California Station's government, “High-priority frequency, with government hallmarks. Which one should we answer first?”>[Answer the private call]>[Answer the government call]
>>2047732>>[Answer the private call]
>>2047732..Odd, considering the silence from the government before, this is likely the 5 man band.>[Answer the private call] first. Also, since we wore our shades during the fight with miridian, that means they likely took images of the fight as well. Think we can use that to scare them?
>>2047732>[Answer the private call]
>>2047732>[Answer the government call]
“The Hextarchs were happy to keep us waiting when we didn't have a battleship floating offshore from their offices. Let's return the favor and let them sweat a little.” You decide, “Put the private call through.”You put the private call onscreen, and are greeted by the pretty, extremely vicacious face of a blonde-haired girl who looks to be about Karen's age or a bit younger, slightly too close to the viewscreen so that you have a good view of her lips, colored bubblegum pink. Her big, blue eyes are radiant, but not quite innocent, “Hello? Is this thing...oh!” She puts a hand on her cheek, tilting her head to one side slightly, her hair done up in two tails. That style must be becoming popular again or something, “Wow! Even cuter than the posters!” She stares for a moment, then blinks and shakes her head, “Sorry. Just a bit overwhelmed. Wow. Um.” Her cheeks turn red, and she laughs, “L-let me start over. A-hem.” She presses a hand to her chest, and sinks down on one knee, “Welcome to California Station, your majesty. I'm Marian, Marian Nemo. My friends call me Mary. I, uh, run the Winking Sun bar ever since my uncle passed on. This is one of your joints, so..I don't know if that makes me an Iron Kestrel or not, but spiritually I guess I am! Either way, I'm one of your subjects, so...oh Juno, I'm gushing, sorry.” She laughs, it's a pleasant sound. You wave it off with a smile, “It's charming, I don't mind at all.”“R-really!?” She looks over your shoulder and blanches, “Please don't kill me, scary lady.” Clemmy growls softly, eyes narrowing.“Look, um. I'm not bartering or anything, obviously this is information I'd give you regardless, but...” She steps aside, revealing a very uncomfortable-looking, muscular man strapped to a chair, looking terrified. There's a ball gag in his mouth and a pair of electrical cables, they look like the kind with gator clamps, snaking into his trousers, “A certain big-mouthed new friend of mine here...” She pats his head with her brilliantly pink-painted fingernails, “Told me there's a trap waiting for you. Um, like I said, this information is free, but I used to be a decent pilot and had a shot of making it big in the underground fighting circuit before I had to sell my ride to pay off my uncle's creditors and keep this place going, so...if you could maybe see your way to making my membership official, and making me a pilot...hopefully with something better than a Harpy...I won't let you down. Pleeeease?” She pinches her captive's cheeks and makes him nod his head, pouting at you.>[Say yes]>[Say no]
>>2047886>>[Say yes]You'll need to be vetted and go through the process to figure out where you can fit(and just in case she tries something), but the information about the trap is good. Did you get any more information from him about the Trap?
>>2047886Is she bartering the information for a place within the Kestrels? Or does she want to ambush the trap herself? Not entirely sure here.
>>2047886>[Say yes]we could always use more manpower.
>>2047886>>[Say yes]"Tell you what. We set some time later, you show me what you can do, maybe we see exactly what type of mech you'll rate. Since right now, we're phasing out the harpies."

>>2047886>[Say yes]Something feels a bit off, but I can't put my finger on it.
>>2047944A quick check can likely be done by our intelligence to make sure. Our intel forces who told us about her taking over would be able to make sure she's the genuine article, yes?
>>2047886>[Say yes]Oh hey Wong's not dead anynore

“We're phasing out the basic Harpies anyway, but yes, we can set up some time later to see what you can do and figure out which of our new models you're best with.” You state after a moment's thought. She pokes her fingertips together, “I like Pumpkinseeds, can I get a modified one of them? Like one of the ones from the tournament?”“Probably. As I said, we'll see what you can do.” You don't like just promising to give away valuable mecha to an untested pilot. She whoops and punches her fist into the air, “Woohoo! That's fine with me, because trust me, I'm no slouch!” She grins.Clemmy grumbles something deprecatory but indistinct, a dissatisfied look on her face.“Did your...friend...there say what kind of a trap it was? Who's behind it? The Hextarchy, or someone else?” By 'someone else', you mean the Five Man Band. “I think it was a pirate captain. Two of them, anyway, he said one's dead but it didn't sound like that one was in charge, anyway. I had to shock him a little, but he deserved it. Don't feel sorry for this guy, he tried to make a habit of kidnapping teenage girls, getting them hooked on drugs, and pimping them out for their fix. He did the same to boys, but he rented out those for menial labor...mostly. Doing it in my bar, too. Which is how he ended up here, isn't that right?” She ruffles her captive's hair, “Don't worry, I was pretty thorough, I wanted to understand exactly why scum like this thought they could get away with it in MY backyard.” Her hand tightens into a fist, jerking the man's head back, while she tickles the apple of his throat with the index nail of her other hand, and faux-whispers, “That WAS a complete list you gave me, right? Because if even a single ship turns out to be modified that you didn't tell me about...and you can kiss having a positive sperm count goodbye, I'll geld you with lightning.” He whimpers and nods, tears streaming down his cheeks. She smiles and pats his head, “Good.”Clemmy looks slightly less disapproving.[Continued]

As for you, you find yourself deep in thought at her words, trying to remember what you know about the Five Man Band. You knew Meridian was the newest member, mostly notable for his personal strength and viciousness. You knew almost nothing about the Gentleman, the next-newest, until you found out his story from Rebecca Lorde. He was a mystery until then. King you never REALLY believed existed until you saw how seriously the Five Man Band seems to take him...but the other two you do, actually, know a fair bit about. Not enough to pick them out of a crowd, but you know both of them are veteran pirate captains of great skill and experience. Psychopomp Farij is supposed to be some kind of religious fanatic who takes no prisoners save those who join his crew, he's Martian and reputedly insane. You hear he has an actual fleet, although their strength is in dispute. Hammerhead Marx, the most normal of the group, is a bit like Harold Beckingham in his way, someone with a good reputation but who never quite stood out, simply gaining strength and prestige year after year. A stolid, elderly pirate who fought in the Great Sidereal War and turned to reaving after it ended, he was known for commanding three starships and amassing tremendous wealth. You were surprised to hear him listed among the Five Man Band, because the word was that he'd retired years ago.Marian picks up her PC and sends a file to the Rhinehawk, “Every ship listed here has been altered. Cargo spaces stripped out for missile bays and beam cannon batteries, hull integrity compromised for more weaponry...you know what I mean, basically you're staring down a small fleet, and as soon as you're surrounded they're all going to open fire on you. This idiot knew about it because his junkies worked on the modifications, apparently with the shipyards' owners help and blessing. He thought he was going to get to replace the captain who died, that idiot.” Brunhilde applies the designations from the list, and the yellow designations on half a dozen transports, one big cargo hauler, and two heavy cruisers abruptly turn red. "You probably don't want me distracting you right now." Marian has a sweet, breezy smile considering the circumstances, "Have fun storming the castle, boss. Want me to see if I can get a mob of concerned citizens together so that we can go voice our...objections...to the Hextarchs once you've dealt with the riffraff? Don't worry, I'm not going to put any kids or the elderly in danger, just a bunch of hardy men and women who want to fight for the Pirate King.">[Say yes]>[Say no]

>>2048187>[Say no]Get the people to watch, but not to act just yet. Rather, find a way to get the door open or keep us in touch if they try to flee or hide. I wouldn't put it past them in killing their own people. As for the ships.. we can likely destroy the bigger ones with the avalonians and have our stealth teams disable the smaller ones if they are that much frailer.
>>2048207they'll probably get mowed down by hired guns or something. >>2048214On the other hand the riots might disrupt our targets forces, which could make our lives easier.
>>2048187>[Say no]A riot will cause unnecessary damage and deaths.
>>2048187>[Say yes]It'll keep them distracted and make their job much much harder.
>>2048229Their disruption won't really do much against the fleet assembled. Rather, I'd say destroying the fleet in a horrifying way and knowing their moves will do the job nicely. We do not need the people to disrupt them. We can do that just well enough as is.
>>2048224Send the stealth teams after the larger ships first. Anything that could harm the Rhinehawk is going to be mounted on them. The smaller craft won't have the guns or the armor to stall us for long.
>>2048239The people in the colony distracting the people in the fleet? Unlikely. I'd rather them telling us where they flee so we can end them than risk the people we will be ruling. We need manpower, so let's not waste it in a suicidal rush.
>>2048242You're assuming that they don't have something planned for the fisting specialist that can crush mechs with his hands on the colony.>>2048248Its to disrupt whatever their planning to do in the colony. They could likely be planning to have it set to gas everyone if they lose control. We saw the FMB use gas before.
>>2048248they're going after the politicians on the stations not the pirates on the ships.
>>2048258If the FMB plan on wiping out the colony as a viable stratagem then having civvies rioting isn't going to stop them from doing it. Sure it wouldn't get Starwind, but why the hell wouldn't they do it if it'd end up denying Starwind assets in the end?If I was willing to kill an entire colony to get one man I wouldn't hesitate to kill the entire colony just to spite him if the plan wasn't going perfectly.
>>2048187>[Say yes]We should allocatevsome support.
>>2048258You are assuming they don't have methods to deal with the crowds and being desperate when shit goes down. Death flails from a cagey creature can still kill.>>2048258Said gas has a limited range and works best in crowded areas, like a riot. You want them to assist? Don't have them protest, have them watch out for suspicious stuff. We can have trained soldiers handle the situation. Also, why do you keep treating it like we will go down their alone? You said it's a trap. Made for us.>>2048264Politicians are the most dangerous of rodent to corner. Especially those who have nothing to lose.
>>2048268It will still through whatever plans they have in disarray which is always good.
>>2048274Not really? You yourself said 'we need all the people we can get' if this costs us a lot of manpower and soldiers for a gain that isn't worth it, then it's a net lost. You are also assuming these people can handle the likes of armed guards who will VERY likely shoot at civilians.
>>2048281How many of our trained pilots do you think are going to die if their is a trap inside? We have to enter the colony eventually and I would rather risk untrained civies than our veteran soldiers.
>>2048274But it'd take away all the possible manpower we get, and it'd give us a bad image since we show up, and an entire colony just straight up dies. It's a lose-lose for us if they are willing to go that far. Besides, they'll have plans inside of plans inside of boxes inside of plans. Even a little hiccup won't be something that'll throw everything they're going to try into disarray.
Looks like Yes wins by a nose. That aside, how do you want to handle things in space? You still have an incoming transmission from the government of the Station, you COULD answer it, or just open fire, or do whatever you want. How do you want to proceed? The space battle will be tomorrow because it's going to be long, obviously, so there's time to plan this out to the max. Sending the stealth mecha to assault the enemy ships is quite doable, but keep in mind the ships might have their own complements.
>>2048187>[Say no]Seconding >>2048214We don't need riots. We need an intact California Station and riots will go out of control.
>>2048292And then we'd be called a despot and the Four Man band will use it against us. Their trap is very likely designed for just us and our ship. They likely didn't plan it to be large scale since they likely want to keep California station operational. But the politicians are likely a different beast. They are corrupt, and do cause trouble. You are also going straight for violence instead of intel and having them find WHERE THE TRAPS ARE.
>>2048300I wanna alpha strike those ships, THEN answer the call when those hulks are burning.

>>2048300>>2048311Hull integrity was compromised for more weapons?I'd say use the stealth mechas to daisy chain exploding armories on their ships.
>>2048300lets hear what they have to say. >>2048309the politicians need California Station more than the Band does. as for the riots, we are not forcing those people to go out into the streets. besides, they know more about the Hextarchs than we do, they should know what they're getting into
>>2048300The stealth mecha get in position to hit squishier ships or ones that don't have a shield while we take the call and use it to try and maneuver into a favorable position, preferably near any cover/debris in between us and the station, if there is any. We can try to talk them down, but if that doesn't work, the Rhinehawk lauches combat mechs and tries to nuke the largest ship nearby while the stealth mechs take out the squishy DPS adds so we don't have to waste fire on them.
>>2048300It got tied up again. As for taking the call? Yes. Take it and act dumb. Use it to buy time for the Stealth team to find info and get into position. I think if they aim, put some luck in, and go for the called crit, they can hit the reactors without needing to roll(since hitting a special spot is a -4). That'd be enough to take them down. After that it's a matter of just bursting every ship we can at once. Take them off guard at the last moment and surprise attack them.

>>2048623No, session is over tonight. We're just planning out how we handle the battle tomorrow
>>2048311I think we need to consider the PR side as well. These are a handful of ships in the mess surrounding the station and a sudden attack on these vessels may cause other civilian vessels to panic and start firing on us.

>>2048320>>2048330>>2048338>>2048371Are focusing fire to which ship? Remember, we only have 6 Stealth Team(2 Wraiths and 4 Shinobi teams) and the Betta. The transports are probably the one with just missiles to spam, we should take care of them first if possible. Best plan for the stealth teams seem to be using Sam to confirm weapons and them splitting the 6 Teams to open fire on the transports for their first attack, after that they'll need to scramble to avoid getting mushed by the mecha complements of the respectives ships (Which should not be difficult for the Harpies and even less to the Wraiths that can just keep skitting everyone). Also, assuming that our soldiers and the ships have B-Crews(what is very plausible), the roll to specifically hit their systems will be +16 vs +14 For the Harpies and +14 vs +14 for the Wraiths.(If Wong cares about rolling 30d10, what I doubt.)>>2048682Good Morning, Wong.
>>2048300Take the call, use the time to move to a position bad for them as if doing it unintentionally just by luck, then use each of the stealth teams to hit their transports with calling shots to their weapons systems as in >>2048371 , lastly open fire twice to the Cargo ship(Rhinehawk) and one time to each of the heavy cruisers(Yamato).>>2048663>>2048631>>2048623>>2048565>>2048371>>2048338>>2048331>>2048330>>2048320>>2048317OI.Are we missile spamming them with the Yamato? >>2048187>Say yesBut stipulate rescue and recovery and public order. These people brought ramshackle pocket gunships to the fight, a group of locals tasked on controlling the panic and helping direct people to shelters would be a good thing since the mercenary police force probably hasn't been getting paid or at least wont see the money coming in from the hexarchs very soon.
I'm dumb>>2048300I vote take the call but alpha strike on Sams timetable if the q-ships move into position. that way they break the parlay first even though we shoot first. the Solo way.
>>2048187>[Say yes]Phaeton is for the people after all.
>>2048300Borrow a page from terrestrial battles.Missile barrage with stealth mecha assaulting right behind the missiles, sneaking past the enemy as our main forces advance a sane distance behind the missiles.Right as the main wave attacks, the stealth mecha flank them.
>>2048776Hmmm...This seems like a interesting idea.Won't it be better to use the stealth teams to disable their weapons first in order to avoid bad PR of "shooting first"? Its hard to blame us for that when the only thing burning is their weapons.
>>2048691>>2048698Honestly, looking at the situation, the thing we need to consider is how much armor and health each transport has. Sending the stealth teams to take out the big ships with called, aimed reactor hits will likely end them (A 5 or less makes them go boom, and a team of 3 has 6 chances total).Meanwhile, if they ARE dumping health, our beam cannons can one shot each transport. We got 4 shots, Oda likely has some as well, and then you have the avalonians. We can wipe out all 10 missile boats with that fire power and a surprise round could mean we get two tries.Pinpoint, surgical strikes taking out their big guns would likely shock them.
>>2049077How exactly does Kill dumping work? its 2 extra spaces for each 100Kill removed?
>>2049101Aye, which means transports would have 100 Kills each if they are made into gunboats plus armor. One missile from the yamato can take them out and they get +2 to hit. The Avalon war ships ALSO have missiles. With ships, you can use all weapons twice, so that is 6 volleys of missiles. Then you have our heavy guns. 200k, also able to kill transports in 1 hit if modified. Then there are the super heavy avalonian guns which can likely help scuttle any ship with 400k and 100 SP which is likely the bigger ships. The bigger ships can still die due to reactor explosion, but what I am getting at is, we have a lot of fire power there. We can focus a stealth team or two on disabling their bigger ship, then take out their smaller ones. Sam can keep stealth with some to serve as a sort of 'in case of reinforcements' situation. Finally, there is Intimidation. We can likely call them out on the trap and tell them we know and that it will not stand after the attempt on our wife and point out that the Five Man Band are Avalonian agents. However, we should offer an out for those pirate and gang forces who wish to surrender. After all, they don't want to be greenmen sympathizers.
>>2050549My problem with this is strategy is that you're assuming thta they dumped all their kills... We don't know that, they could have just dumped 200Kill for updating their cannons to 200K and putting a missile battery... that would leave them with 400K that are enough the sustain 2 Hits from the Rhinehawk. And there is also the fact that we may not see the Avalonians in a while as we don't know how long they will take to gate to us.Taking that in consideration, our cannons should be able to take out a transport per turn, not all of them, even if we missile spam them with the Burst rules. Also, while the transports are dangerous, the main mecha complement should be in the Cargo ship, and taking care of it first could gain us the numerical advantage.
>>2050591Yes, except you forget something. Called shots. In theory, the Betta COULD be doing what it did at Qu'lir. Line up where the reactor is, coordinate some called shots, and pump it full of pain. Remember, space ships like that die on a roll of 5 or less and it gets worse each hit no matter how much health they have.As you said, the cargo ships are likely one and done, but splitting our teams too much can have them be picked off and they might not guarentee the instant death. The missiles will. The beams will. 6 less missile boats for the surprise attack is good for us, especially if it will take them a bit to come. We can likely time it so that they warp in just after our surprise to intimidate them further. If it's going to take multiple hits to end it, then you may as well use the mechs to take down the big ships while we have the element of surprise.
>>2050665But didn't you just said that splitting the teams are dangerous? How are you going to make the 6 transports dissapear without focusing the stealth teams on them if they don't have only 100K? Yes, Guns and Missiles are confirmed death, but depending on how much health they have left they may survive more than one or two hits from our ships.I don't see a better way to destroy them in a surprise attack without using our stealth mechs. And about they getting killed... The Shinobis need to get in the CIWS range in order to attack the ship, so it will get a shot at them, but after that they can transform and reacg a MA of 12 that will let them get out of range easily. The wraiths can fire at the transports from many KM of distance and have a full speed of 14MA... Nothing will reach them.
>>2050815Transports are the Smallest class of ships. They have 200 kills. If they are sacrificing kills for spaces, then they only have 100 kills and armor can't go very high. And I am not suggesting breaking them up. I am suggesting sending a squad on EACH of the three bigger ships, maybe with more concentrated on the bigger one to make SURE it's done.Meanwhile each of those transports likely do have strike missiles. Perhaps 2 if they are sacrificing kills. That means each could fire 4 750 kill missiles on their opening salvo. That is 40 Striker missiles with +2 to attack in the worse case and then they are done. Even if the CIWS is used like anti missiles that is a lot.The bigger ships probably focused on beam cannons and the like so less damage in a burst but more sustained.
>>2050549Starship scale missiles don't seem particularly useful. Beam batteries seem to have more use.
>>2050878SECONDARY SHIP: Generic Transport x7Stats:Striker Hull (600 Kills, 6 spaces all occupied)Striker Armor (30 SP) C-Grade: 1d10+12 for all skill rolls, representing the fact that transports usually take the less talented crew of the Kestrels. When on a special operation for the Admiral, this rank will increase to B grade or even A to represent the experienced crew manning the ship, Weaponry:Fore Light Beam Battery (WA 0, 2500m range, 50K, 1 Spaces, Forward 180-degree Arc only)ORDeluxe CIWS (WA +0, 650m range, 10K, Space 1, All-Around Arc, automatically attacks any hostile mech that enters range with no penalty and the equivalent of an infinite burst weapon effect) Subassemblies:2 Mecha Bays (can support 20 mecha, 2 Spaces)1 Cargo Hold (500 tons, 1 Space)1 Passenger Space (90 people, 1 Space)Can replace the one or both mecha bays with more cargo or passenger space. >>2050902Yamato's missiles broke up the Green Skull fleet at Suleiman 1
>>2050905From the core book looking at what they have there and trying to figure out where they are since numbers can be changed about. Heck that is the part of the master paste bin that still needs to be updated. If that were the case, then the situation be in deep shit and require maneuvering in such a way that we do not have to face more than 1-2 at once if they have those big missiles.>>2050902In a prolonged fight, but that accuracy and damage can make shitty crews in shitty ships dangerous since they only need to hit once or twice.
>>2050905And by sacrificing 200K(400K remaining) this thing could have 1 Yamato Scale Missile batteries and the Forefront Cannons upgraded to 200K.And thats not taking in consideration that they may have sacrificed their storage space too.
>>2050942The transport stats for this universe always were like this, even when Roarke invaded Mars.Naaaaahhhhh, were not in deep shit if we strike first or have our shields up.
>>2050949...Br, we have 2000 kill shields, 90 SP, and 1600 kills. That is 3 striker missiles to take down the shield, and 3 to wreck us. Those ships likely have C class crew and the +2 put them on the same level as us. That is 13 ships worth of missiles. 26 shots at least. We would need to do better on a roll 75% of the time. If they are that sturdy we can likely get 3 transports down, and maybe the big ships before they attack. if we are lucky and do not miss. Then you factor in crits that could hurt the Yamato badly. This was a trap designed to kill us with sheer firepower at the cost of durability. If they are still that durable, this will be a dangerous fight. Do not treat it lightly.
>>2050984>Multi-Missile Pod (WA +2, 4250m range, 150K per missile, 10 Missiles that can be fired singly or in a salvo, 2 Spaces, can fire in any direction)Even the Avalonians have this type of missile, so its a safe bet that they probably have this.Thats at least 15 Missiles to destroy the shield, and then at least more 18 to put us in a dangerous situation.Unless they burn luck like there is no tomorrow this won't be this easy, as they will have to hit more than half of their missiles against an opponent of equal skill. But yeah... Now that it sank in I get it...This will be a true fight. So, what do you suggest, taking care of the transports first? Stealth kill them? Do we even take the time taking the call?
>>2051045We take the call to get everyone battle ready, and to use it to set a point. Go for the big ships still for sabotage since they are likely still incredibly dangerous and also the ones that will cause the most confusion. We want to intimidate, scare as many as we can, show the image of us killing Miridian, and hope it demoralizes them, gets them to turn coat, or flee. Our ship is the most maneuverable thing out there. Do not be a sitting duck, use it to put the enemy forces into disarray and make it so we always have the positional advantage. Time the speech so the avalonian ships pop up so we have 4 vs 13 in the fight proper. This is 3 dimensional warfare and they are a mass of ships. All that fire power will not help them if they can't hit, and we can send out squads as we maneuver to deal with situations as they pop up.Also, keep in mind that our heavies have more range than their missiles. Hit and run can work wonders.
>>2051078Man this is going to suck if it's bad Intel and we're being baited into killing a bunch of innocent transports.
>>2051113Thats part of why we are taking the call. Play smart. Sides, the stealth teams, and Sammy herself can likely scan them close and find abnormalities. Might to be hard to tell at range, but making such modifications would likely not hold up to scans or scrutiny up close.
Alright, all set and settled in with my dinner and we're ready to start.
>>2049101>>2050549Don't take it literally, I meant it was done haphazardly instead of THAT way.
>>2051146Roger. Just to make sure, is what BR said true? These guys have 600 kills each?
>>2051151I'll just tell you, they're normal transports that stripped out the cargo and mech bays to install missile pods. I didn't even remember the whole "trading Kills for Spaces" thing because I've ignored it this whole time.
>>2051175So, unless they now have guns in both sides....They have the 3 Space missiles.YABAI!
>>2051175Correction, there are two kinds. One has stripped out its normal weapon, both mechbays, and its cargo hold for 4 spaces, two of which are a Multimissile Pod and two are a Medium Beam Battery. The other kind keeps one mechbay, but sacrifices its existing weapon, the other mechbay, and its cargo hold to install a Heavy Beam Battery.
>>2051210Yup. We are most definetly not facing all the death transports on even ground. Kite and smite.
>>2051210Didn't I draw up a frigate that was a modified transport that just had its cargo spaces replaced with beam batteries?
>>2051210>tfw 6 Transports are more dangerous than the Green Skulls fleet at Auditorium.
“Make it happen, Marian, I'm counting on you...but do NOT engage first. Prioritize support and rescue.” You toss off a cavalier salute to her, “Good luck.”She returns the gesture, “Aye aye, my king!” She giggles, and looks over her shoulder at her captive, drawing a pistol from her belt, “I guess we don't need him anymore, then?” She terminates the call.Still...as you gaze at the ships she designated as enemies, which you notice have done a bit less casual drifting away from you than the rest. You narrow your eyes as you consider them. The natural reaction would be, when launching this kind of ambush, to huddle in as dense a pile of other ships as possible for cover against the Rhinehawk. Natural, and while defensively advisable, a poor plan for establishing an alpha strike against someone who could call in reinforcements. Panicking neutral vessels would quickly clog the fire lanes and a prolonged encounter is not beneficial for these vessels. Despite the fact that most of them are tiny, it's nine ships against two, and you've seen firsthand how much damage a concentrated missile barrage can do. On top of that, you can't be sure how willing they are to flee. “Samantha.” You contact her via the comms, “Anything unusual about these ships?” You send her the designations of the nine hostiles.“Yes, I was just about to tell you. Roarke, don't commercial transports have a bunch of big bulgy sections with ports for storing cargo?” She sounds wary.“Yes, they do.” You confirm.“Some of these transports look...a lot like they've been rigged with weapons systems in their place. The welding is crude, like it was a rushed job.” Samantha hesitates, “Should we retreat?”“Coward! Don't you EVER imply our husband would run away!” Clemmy howls, but you kiss her cheek to shush her.[Continued]
“We can't, but we shouldn't need to. Maya, I want our Avalonian ships here the moment we enter firing range. Put the call from the Hextarchy onscreen.” You instruct. The bridge bunny nods and does as you ask.The main holoscreen wavers and comes into focus, showing the visage of a man you don't recognize. His face is smooth and rounded, querulous eyes peering from behind small spectacles. He reminds you of a round-shouldered, self-satisfied old turtle, the sort who inevitably hinders anything getting done no matter what sort of role he's in. “Pirate King, greetings from California Station. I hope you've been well.” He drones, his only emotion being a sort of smug obstinacy, “On behalf of the Hextarchy and the California Station shipyards which I represent, we hope your voyage was a pleasant one. Please, land at whichever colony you wish, we will be waiting for you on the asteroid facility. We simply must welcome you with all proper reverence, mmyes, to make up for our earlier failure to communicate properly our joy at your ascension. All I've been able to think about is how a fight between two void fist dudes would go. If their body can withstand striking something with that much force without their fist turning into a bloody stump instantly it doesn't seem far-fetched that those two fighting would seem like a normal fistfight to them even though the collateral damage would be huge and the people watching would see some crazy shit.I dunno mang, it's driving me nuts.

You'd been proceeding in a relaxed formation, with the Yamato slightly ahead, turning to present its broadside as if angling for a dock. The closest transport doesn't stand a chance. The bureaucrat stands gawping, emotion tinging his voice for the first time, “Oh no! Oh nooo! This isn't what was supposed to happen!” His voice chokes as he realizes what he just said, and he scrambles away from the screen. He terminates the call with panic in his eyes.Maya is in close communication with your stealth mecha, and they're clear of it as the small ship erupts into flames, streaks of plasma dissecting it, clearly revealing the outsized missiles filling its belly as they detonate in brilliant bronze and orange tones. Space warps on either side of your vessels, distorting in the way that glass is said to flow and distort when left untouched for centuries, rippling like some incredibly thick liquid as the lance-like tips of their prows break free from the gates. You stand up and run for the mechbay, “Shields up the moment I launch!” You command....and with that, Avi is abruptly in control. You are now the Rhinehawk's chubby helmsman. [Continued]
The only thing that isn't awesome about the new Rhinehawk is that you didn't get to put it through its paces sooner. It's so fast, so powerful, and so durable, too. The only other thing that annoys you is that you can't put the shields up, doing so would trap the boss inside. Mecha pour from the Yamato and Rhinehawk's bays like bees from a hive, glittering lights sparkling between the stars as the Pirate King rushes to his mech, his blonde wife at his elbow.Answering mecha pour from the three larger enemy ships and three of the surviving transports. You don't have time to worry about that, though. Enemy fire is incoming, and your hands spin across the controls. The Rhinehawk dances. Its huge, graceful bulk moves like a raptor in flight, banking between the parallel lines of fire that rake through space. Only three surviving vessels are close enough to attack you immediately, but the remaining ones are coming into position and your reinforcements haven't quite breached warp yet. The Yamato takes a minor hit, but its sturdy hull absorbs it, and it circles as your ship continues to advance. You focus on the Heavy Cruiser, the most threatening of the remaining three and the one you most want to hit. Your beams scour it, carving away pieces of its hull, and then...you must have hit the reactor, because it detonates in a massive fireball, the mecha emerging in a defensive cloud around it exploding or melting too, brilliant fireworks rising up.One beam even reaches through the disintegrating cruiser to tag one of the transports behind it. You're proud of that. It spins on its axis from the jet of plasma striking its tail, turning it side-on to the Yamato, which rakes its sides with fire, then fires a sextet of missiles. The transport jukes frantically and manages to avoid one volley of missiles, but the other smashes through the defensive curtain of CIWS fire, somewhat gappy from the damage the transport has already taken, and burst it to pieces.“Three ships down, one third of enemy power suppressed.” Brunhilde remarks, and you look at her with annoyance. You can count. The third transport suddenly erupts, lightning flickering along part of its hull before its engine, too, bursts. You can almost swear you see a dark shape zipping away just ahead of the blastwave. [Continued]
>>2051637>a dark shape zipping away just ahead of the blastwave.>Concern.jpg
Then, the Avalonian gunships emerge fully from folded space, their superheavy batteries blazing and volleys of missiles erupting towards the approaching six vessels. The biggest enemy ship, the ugly, almost grublike mass cargo hauler sloughs its front section of armor to reveal a nightmarish visage, its entire front end studded with cannons to form an erzatz superheavy battery of its own. That isn't good enough, it just gets their attention. Loriette's blue-and-gold lance ship hammers it with fire. It fires a huge bank of engines on its underside and manages to avoid her first volley, but her aim adjusts and scores its belly. Then she launches her missiles and, unlike Oda moments before, keeps nary a one in reserve against this threat. The monstrous light battleship's already freakish form is tattered by the time missiles stop pinging its hull, and then...familiar laughter booms out over the comms.“OHOHOHOHOHO~ ARE YOU WATCHING, DARLING!?” You wince at the volume as the scarlet Avalonian ship and its new apparent captain cheekily steal Loriette's kill, a head-on volley tearing the enemy heavy asunder lengthwise through the rents in its armor. She, too, empties her missile banks, this time on the remaining heavy cruiser. Its weapons, sensors, and turrets all melt to slag before a secondary volley from her main guns ignites its missile pod and the cruiser, too, explodes. The four transports remaining seem to take stock of their options, turning as one towards the Rhinehawk and firing in concert, unloading everything they have. Missiles fill the void, beams streak through space, and the Rhinehawk rocks and shudders as four missiles and two different sets of beam cannons strike its hull, and yet...despite the gouges in its armor, despite the many indicators of damage flashing across your screens because sirens and warning klaxons are loud and distracting, the battleship is holding fine, easily continuing to operate at full capacity...and that was with its shields down.Speaking of which, you receive a signal abruptly, and with a smile, you press a button and a glowing field expands around the Rhinehawk, fitting tight against its contours. The Pirate King has entered the battle, and you...you feel immeasurably pleased with yourself for a fine bit of piloting. “Maya...” You lean over and poke her.“Yes, cuddlewuggums?” She remarks, looking over her shoulder.“How about...” You're about to name a treat, something sweet you feel you've earned, but something inside your soft and squishy gut changes your mind. You want to surprise her, “Some grilled chicken and greens for dinner tonight?”Her eyes sparkle, “Pookie! You're following your diet! You really are! Eeee!” She tackles you in a hug.Jove damn, you are fantastic at maneuvers.[Continued][Continued]

>>2051750> by being namefag we have some sort of background and lasting opinions about us.> Also, I tend to throw up many ideas and try to consult Wong about statistical stuff often, what results in me posting "too much", compared to other people.Sometimes the right answer is to just stop digging the hole. Just . . Stop. Let people move on.
Bad news, guys, to cap off a thread full of delays. Today is my dad's birthday, so game will resume Tuesday.
>>2052761Weird, the phone didn't have my trip saved, let's see if I even remember it.
>>2052761>>2052766How did you forget your Dad's birthday?
>>2052761>>2052766No prob. Meatspace events are always more important. Wish your dad happy birthday.
>>2052766Wish your dad a happy birthday too.Family always come first Wong, its ok.
>>2052761Like, Tuesday next week? Damn. Sweet birthday.
Just to remember you guys, we still didn't decided what we are updating our 6 Pumpkinseed IIs to.The options Wong gave us was "Any of the Pumpkinseed-based Tourney mecha", what translate to:>Valkyrie>Pumpkinseed Jager>Libra>GyrfalconTo be more exact, 4 of those PSII are from the A-crew quartet of Gretchen's friends and coworkers, one is from Gretchen and the last one is Flint's old ride (Wong mentioned that he is getting Dame Morgana's Chevalier ugraded). My vote goes for getting one of each for the A-Crew quartet, getting a Jager to Gretchen and giving the last one to the Bar girl who is helping us now to decide based on her fighting style.
>>2058045Honestly, Valkyries may suit the quartet better than anything else. More defensive and makes full use of the pumpkinseed II parts. Jagers work better with normal pumpkinseeds, same with libra and gyr. We also have plenty of pumpkinseed 1s if I recall.
>>2059203We have more 8 from the Cleander and 24 from the Stone Soldiers(if we didn't get any more in the time jump). They are probably going to get updated later, though, as we seem to still be weighted down by the Dutchman production for Luna.Having a squad of Valkyries isn't a bad idea, but that is betting all of our card in melee as they don't have much ranged options, in that regard the Jager serves as a better multirole. The Gyr is a special case, though, he is specced to recon and can even detect things like the Betta if he has the chance... As a combatant, though, its either a Sniper or a missile boat, not something really usefull for prolonged combats most of the type.Or at least that is my opinion about it, Michael probably would disagree with me.
Very unrelated post, but... Does anyone here have experience with GURPS?
>>2060305remember, weapons can be replaced or changed about for non melee options. They could be outfitted with CROWE rifles or Myrm weapons if needed. The Jager is a good machine, but it's heavier than most and works well as a workhorse as opposed to a elite unit. Also, why would we be weighted down? We said before it's easier to upgrade than build anew.>>2061086I know enough to know I am not touching it again.
>>2061151>Also, why would we be weighted down? We said before it's easier to upgrade than build anew. Were building them from the scratch, it seems.Thats what I meant with "weighting us down", because its using most of our production power for now.>ValkyrieI suppose we really could, it would take a little of fine tuning to deal with the weight, but the main thing here is that they wouldn't be elite mooks anymore, but full officer now, as they would easily reach the 160CP territory, being even more expensive than Bushi.>GurpsWhy?
>>2061086What do you need it for?
>>2060305I also said we're not micromanaging this stuff anymore, because now you have the ability to actually produce mecha.
>>2061582Hmmm.... I need a system that can deal with a large scope of different technology levels.>>2062757Sorry, I didn't realized that included stuff like this, I thought that the micromanagement was more about mecha distribution and production.
>>2061582>>2063448It also needs to be able to deal with magic and high-technology.
>>2063466>>2063448There's a /gurpsgen/ on /tg/ if you want help
