/qst/ - Quests

Hello again! Welcome to My Sister, My Writer Quest!

https://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=My%20Sister%20My%20Writer

You are Yuu Nagami.

In the previous thread you learned about the little fact that your younger sister, Suzuko, is a light novel author, and you had to deal with a fool of a stalker going after you.

You managed to overcome the two situations successfully, helping Suzuko to maintain her anonymity and spoiling the blackmail plans of your stalker, Himuro, causing the latter to reflect on her actions and apologize to you.

Not everything went well for you, however. When you confessed to your best friend, Hanako, she rejected you. You also ended up kissing Suzuko in a non-wholesome way. It didn't end so bad, since your friend is willing to try have a relationship with you in the future, and your sister doesn't seem very upset about the "My big brother stole my first kiss" thing, so maybe all that don't end too badly for you.

Today is Friday, and you decided to join the school's Martial Arts club.

ARM: + 1 + [0/20] = +F
LEG: + 1 + [0/20] = +F
POWER: + 1 + [0/20] = +F
SPEED: + 1 + [0/20] = +F
DEFENSE: + 1 + [0/20] = +F

[{(+A/ A/ +B/ B/ +C/ C/ +D/ D/ +E/ E/ +F)}]
+21/+19/+17/+15/+13/+11/+9/+7/+5/+3/+1.

You have experience fighting, +40 Fighting to be exact. Every +5 is 4 stats points.

>You have 32 stats points to distribute.

2/4
>>
You are a talented fighter, so you will have to choose two (2) stats in which you stand out. The stats you excel at will give you a SPECIAL TECHNIQUE and have a +1 bonus. This bonus will allow you to reach the S tier (+22) in that stat. For each tier that you advance on the stat that you choose (X<<<+Y), will upgrade your SPECIAL TECHNIQUE.

>Choose two (2) stats and chain them to others stats.

>>ARM: Defines how strong your arms are.

>>LEG: Defines how powerful your legs are.

>>POWER: Defines how strong you are. Gives you an advantage when resisting attacks and trying to overpower someone.

>>SPEED: Defines how fast you are. Gives you an advantage when dodging attacks and trying to be the first to move in the fight.

>>DEFENSE: Defines your hits points and how resistant you are. Affects your ability to resist attacks and attempts to be OVERPOWERED.

Example: If you choose SPEED and ARM, you will have to choose a two stat to chained to them. (You can't chain ARM with SPEED two times because they will be already chained.)

Continuing with the previous example, every time you use a ARM move in a fight, that stat will be chained to it. Since you also have a SPECIAL TECHNIQUE in SPEED too, the bonus you chained SPEED with will be chained in the attack as well.

SPECIAL TECHNIQUE Tiers:

[S] - Godly [X×2 stat + Y×2 stat]
[A] - Heavenly [X×2 stat + (1/2 Y) + Y stat]
[B] - Holy [X×2 stat + Y stat]
[C] - Golden [(1/2 X) + X stat + Y stat]
[D] - Awaken [X stat + Y stat]
[E] - Solid [X stat + 1/2 Y stat]

BASIC MOVES:

BASIC PUNCH: Light attack.
1d20 + (SPEED bonus) to land the attack.
DAMAGE = 1d6 + (ARM bonus)

BASIC KICK: Heavy attack.
1d20 to land the attack.
DAMAGE = 1d12 + (LEG bonus)

OVERPOWER: You pounce on the opponent to push or throw him/her to the ground.
1d20 + (POWER bonus)

DODGE: Dodge your opponent's attack. It is more effective if you can identify what the opponent is going to do.
1d20 + (SPEED bonus)

RESIST: Nullifies or reduces the damage of the attack. It is more effective if you can identify what the opponent is going to do.
1d20 + (DEFENSE bonus)

(Note: If you end up on the ground the following will happen: Your DEFENSE and POWER bonus are halved.

There will be more MOVES to choose later.)

You will have five (5) fights between weeks. For every fight you win, you will earn a +1 bonus. When all the fights are over, you will have to roll 1d5 to gain more stat points. This roll represents the training you have done between fights. The bonus will be added to that roll like this: 1d5 + (0/5).

There may be different events that give you stat points in the week if you complete them properly.

Since making a build among many people is not easy, I am going to give you until tomorrow at 18:00 to discuss, in addition to leaving a couple of examples below.

ARM: 5 = +E
LEG: 3 = E
POWER: 6 = +E
SPEED: 9 = +D
DEFENSE: 9 = +D

5+3+6+9+9 = 32

ARM: 9 = +D
LEG: 13 = C
POWER: 4 = E
SPEED: 3 = E
DEFENSE: 3 = E

9+13+4+3+3 = 32

If you are going to use one of the examples I present, please do not link your vote to this post, just link to the post above. That way I can count the votes more easily.

>>
Tell me if I'm misunderstanding or doing something wrong, QM.

>>5738839
ARM: 11 = +D
LEG: 9 = +D
POWER: 2 = +F
SPEED: 5 = +E
DEFENSE: 5 = +E
Alright here's my vote. It was kind of fun.

>>5738841
>>SPEED: Defines how fast you are. Gives you an advantage when dodging attacks and trying to be the first to move in the fight.
>>DEFENSE: Defines your hits points and how resistant you are. Affects your ability to resist attacks and attempts to be OVERPOWERED.
Was also thinking about chaining SPEED and POWER for the Martial Arts Club. But I'm mostly also thinking about how things have been going, and I feel like this could help in case a certain stalker tries something.
>>
>>5738860
Pretty good, but you forgot to chain the stats you chose to others.
>>
>>5738839
>>5738841
ARM: 10
LEG: 5
POWER: 10
SPEED: 5
DEFENSE: 10

>>5738841
>ARM chained to POWER
>DEFENSE chained to POWER

>>5738871
Like this, QM?
>>
>>5738887
Good, but...
10+5+10+5+10= 40

You just need to deduct 8 points to fix it.
>>
>>5738871
Ah I see.
Alright thinking about it I'll go for
>SPEED chained to ARM
>SPEED chained to LEG
>>
>>5738841
I'm going to suggest a build based on entirely on something that was mentioned last thread

Link DEFENSE to POWER
Link POWER to DEFENSE

ARM: 3
LEG: 3
POWER: 12
SPEED: 3
DEFENSE: 12

Yuu was trained in Jiu Jitsu, which is a martial art all about is grappling, throwing people on the floor and using the opponent's strength against them. So I linked DEFENSE and POWER to each other to represent that.
So the strategy would be to use our DEFENSE+POWER to RESIST an attack, and them using our POWER+DEFENSE to OVERPOWER them, fluffing it as us using the momentum of their own attack to throw them in the ground.
>>
>>5738899
Excellent

I assume you had a typo and that your vote is:
>SPEED chained to ARM
>DEFENSE chained to LEG
>>
>>5738902
Ah shit, that comes up to 33 instead of 32.
I guess I can either put LEG down to 2.

This build will suck unless we get a SPECIAL TECHNIQUE that does damage based on POWER.
>>
>>5738902
Actually, is linking DEFENSE to POWER and POWER to DEFENSE allowed? I thought that ARM and SPEED couldn't be linked to each other because BASIC PUNCH already uses both, but POWER and DEFENSE could because RESIST and OVERPOWER only use one stat, but that may not be the case and I was overthinking things, and you meant that one stat could link to only another one.
>>
>>5738887
My bad! Misread it as r0 points to soend, rather than readi g SLIIIGHTLY further to se eit was 4 points to add +5 and 32 points total...
Jeez, that IS more complicated, huh?

I'll back to stat spread >>5738902 pitched, with my previously-proposed linked specials.
>>
>>5738907
>>5738902
Sorry I dont see you. Nice to see you making sticking to the character, but you have a couple of mistakes.

You cannot link two attributes twice.

>>5738907
>I thought that ARM and SPEED couldn't be linked to each other because BASIC PUNCH already uses both

You can link ARM and SPEED, and you will get a bonus in the DAMAGE roll: 1d6 + (ARM and SPEED bonus)

Or you can link SPEED to ARM, and you will get a bonus when you have to roll to get the first turn in a fight and others thing.
>>
>>5738916
*40 points to spend
>>
>>5738903
Yup, thank you QM.
>>
>>5738918
I see, so could I link DEFENSE to POWER and ARM to POWER for example?
>>
And another question, do the +1 bonus on the stats we excel at count as part of the 32 points to spend? Because on the examples you gave, they don't appear.
>>
>>5738935
Also ,does the default +1 count as the point we have to spend? So we would have 27 to spend instead of 32

So let's use on of the examples,

Is

ARM: 5 = +E
LEG: 3 = E
POWER: 6 = +E
SPEED: 9 = +D
DEFENSE: 9 = +D

Translate into

ARM: + 1 + [5/20] = +E
LEG: + 1 + [3/20] = E
POWER: + 1 + [6/20] = +E
SPEED: + 1 + [9/20] = +D
DEFENSE: + 1 + [9/20] = +D

Or

ARM: + 1 + [4/20] = +E
LEG: + 1 + [2/20] = E
POWER: + 1 + [5/20] = +E
SPEED: + 1 + [8/20] = +D
DEFENSE: + 1 + [8/20] = +D

I hope I'm not being too annoying with the questions, I like to try experiment and understand new systems, but I'm not very good at it.
>>
>>5738933
Yeah, that is fine.

>>5738935
The +1 of the will go to the stats that you choose as yours SPECIAL TECHNIQUE.

Example:

ARM: 1 + 20 = 21 = +A
>>>
ARM: 2 + 20 = 22 = S

>>5738938
>Also ,does the default +1 count as the point we have to spend? So we would have 27 to spend instead of 32

Sorry I dont think of explaning that. You are just distributing the points that you have available, which will then be added to the +1 of the stat.

>I hope I'm not being too annoying with the questions, I like to try experiment and understand new systems, but I'm not very good at it.

Dont worry about it.
>>
>>5738902
>>5738945
Alright, so would it be ok with these changes?

>POWER
>DEFENSE

Chain DEFENSE to POWER
Chain POWER to ARM

ARM: + 1 + [5/20] = +1 = +E
LEG: + 1 + [3/20] = +1 = E
POWER: + 2 + [13/20] = +15 = +C
SPEED: + 1 + [0/20] = = +F
DEFENSE: + 2 + [11/20] = +13 = C

OR

ARM: + 1 + [5/20] = +1 = +E
LEG: + 1 + [3/20] = +1 = E
POWER: + 1 + [13/20] = +14 = B
SPEED: + 1 + [0/20] = = +F
DEFENSE: + 1 + [11/20] = +12 = +C

The points are the same, I'm just still unsure how the ranks work.

I felt tempted into 0 points into some of the stats and pumping POWER to 20 to get S, but that would be extreme levels of min-maxxing.
So I went with this for the fluff option of upping ARM and LEG, because Jiu Jutsu apparently uses both punches and kicks, but by what I can see in images, has a bigger focus on arms due to to grappling and holds.
Putting 0 points in SPEED because going after the opponent and not dodging, instead defending and counter attacking fits more.
>>
>>5738962

Like this
>ARM: 5
>LEG: 3
>POWER: 13
>SPEED: 0
>DEFENSE: 11

And then you have

>ARM: + 1 + [5/20] = +E
>LEG: + 1 + [3/20] = E
>POWER: + 1 + [13/20] = B
>SPEED: + 1 + [0/20] = +F
>DEFENSE: + 1 + [11/20] = +C
>>
>>5738972
Alright, QM. Thank you for bearing with me.
>>
>>5738860
>ARM: 11 = +D
>LEG: 9 = +D
>POWER: 2 = +F
>SPEED: 5 = +E
>DEFENSE: 5 = +E

>SPEED chained to ARM
>DEFENSE chained to LEG

>>5738962
>>ARM: 5
>>LEG: 3
>>POWER: 13
>>SPEED: 0
>>DEFENSE: 11

>DEFENSE to POWER
>POWER to ARM

FOw+VbC decide to vote for a discarded build, so that vote is worthless

Ok if I roll 1, 3 or 5, the first build win.
If I roll 2, 4 or 6 the second win.
>>
Rolled 1 (1d6)

Fuck
>>
>>5739612

Ok so the final build is

>ARM: + 1 + [11/20] = C
>LEG: + 1 + [9/20] = +D
>POWER: + 1 + [2/20] = E
>SPEED: + 2 + [5/20] = D

As you toy with the idea of just going home earlier like last year, your gaze falls on the flyer of the Martial Arts club.

The thought of it becomes more and more tempting with every second that you allow your eyes to rest on the piece of paper.

Ever since the guys at the club found out that you weren't just some weirdo who watched too many action movies, they tried to persuade you to join, but by that time you have already decided that you would take a break from all that world and that you wanted to spend more time having fun and relaxing.

They were disappointed, but also were understanding with you.

Maybe now would be a good time to go back? Now, when do you feel more in control of your actions?

Hanako quickly realizes what piqued your interest and laughs happily. "Are you going to give karate another try?"

You nod, a small smile beginning to form on your face, more and more certain of your decision. You don't even bother to correct your friend. "Yeah, I think I'll do it." You explain to Hanako your desire to return to your old passion, in a more controlled way this time.

Your friend finds it funny how you almost seem defensive in the way you talk about it, almost like you're justifying an answer to a teacher.

"You worry too much!" She takes you by the shoulder and starts to shake you. "If you freak out again I'll just drag you home like that time, remember?"

You blush at that particular memory.

Your thoughts are interrupted when someone politely calls your attention.

For a moment you think that is a teacher, but when you turn around you see that it is Himuro, who introduces herself before you two in a strangely formal way. "Hello, I'm sorry if I interrupt something but... Can I ask you a question, Junior-san?"

Hanako raises her eyebrow, confused. "Yeah?"

"You're going to join the sports club, right?" Himuro asks softly, playing with his hands to calm his nerves.

Your friend nods, not understanding where your ex-stalker is going with that. "Sure, why do you want to know that?"

Doubt seems to engulf Himuro, tempting her to turn and leave, but she clenches her fists and musters the determination to stay where she is. "I want to do what you told me... And I would like to spend more time with you and the girls on the team!"

You guys are surprised by Himuro's request, though Hanako smiles for some reason.

You feel like you're missing some context of the situation, but it's pretty easy to see that Himuro is sincere in wants.

But it does cause you some concern about what will come of this, especially for your friend.

What do you want to do?

>Recommend Hanako to allow Himuro to join her group of friends.
Why?

You decide not to get involved in a matter that you do not fully understand, trusting that your friend knows what she is doing.

Himuro trembles nervously where she stands, eyeing Hanako apprehensively as the blond pretends to consider the red-haired girl's proposal as she toy with a lock of her golden hair.

"Okay, you can join."

"Really?! Thank you thank you!" Says an excited Himuro, breaking all the image of control and formality that she was trying to convey by jumping and laughing while she laughs.

She also risks breaking the buttons on her shirt with all those moves, but you doubt the guys around you would consider that a bad thing.

"With some conditions." Casually add Hanako, robbing your former stalker of all her excitement and joy. "First, I want you to give it your all. We can have fun playing, but my friends take this seriously. Are you up for that?" Your friend says, advancing into the redhead's personal space, crossing her arms and giving her a look that conveys total seriousness.

Your friend might be easy-going most of the time, but there are things she can't help but take to heart. Her passion for the basketball team formed over the years is one of those things.

"Y-yes. I'm going to give it my all." Himuro answers, standing firm like a soldier.

"Good. And second, don't try go too hard. I don't want you to get hurt, or do something stupid because you want to prove yourself." Hanako places her hand on Himuro's shoulder and shakes her a little.

The redhead seems confused by the seemingly contradictory messages, but she nods anyway.

"Great. There's more, but for now just put your application in our box and come next week with a change of comfortable clothes." Hanako says, pointing to the different boxes on a nearby table.

Himuro happily thanked again before heading to the designated table.

Hanako turns to see you, and immediately her face loses all its seriousness to see how you wear a small smile and raise your eyebrow.

"I'll tell you later..." She leans closer to whisper, but the closeness between your lips sends shivers down your spine.

You both quickly take a step back, still feeling weird after what happened yesterday.

"I-I'm going to put in my application too." You say, wanting to ease the sudden tension.

Hanako nods, looking uncomfortably at the floor. "Y-yes. I-I'm going with you."

As the last day of school comes to a close, you are walking out of school with your classmates, when a particularly strong wind blows past you.

"Is something wrong Yuu-san?" Asks Nobuyuki, one of your friends, seeing how you stopped out of nowhere.

>You blink, somewhat confused as to why you stopped. "No. I think I forgot what I was thinking."

>You are petrified, feeling a subtle unnatural cold go through your body.

You are petrified, feeling a subtle unnatural cold go through your body.

It's similar to getting numb in your leg or arm, little needles running through your flesh, but this time it's not as intense, nor in a random pattern like static on a television screen.

You feel them in waves, coursing through your interior, making you aware of your organs and cavities in a way that makes you somewhat nauseated.

What makes you alert is that after a few seconds, the sensation becomes focused on you. As if responding to a consciousness that has designated you as an object of interest, the weak waves become a flow of discomfort focused on your chest.

"Yuu-san? Are you okay?" Your friend asks again, and from your peripheral vision you can see how Hanako is starting to worry.

You ignore them to stare around you, trying to figure out where this strange sensation comes from.

Your view soon falls on a group of students gathered to one side of the school gates, chatting happily.

Nothing about the boys and girls seems abnormal, but that doesn't stop you from convincing yourself that what's happening to you is somehow connected to them.

"Yuu-kun?" Hanako whispers next to you, having crossed the distance between you without your realizing it. "You look pale. Are you feeling alright?"

You manage to nod and move forward with your gaze fixed on the group.

With each step you take, the intensity of the flow remains stable, making it easy to confirm that whatever's going on is tied to the guys there, which now that you're closer, you see their faces.

There are new members that you didn't know about, but you're sure they are from the Paranormal Club, having seen a high quality and dedicated presentation from them last year about the different types of ghosts of the local folklore and their legends.

When you and your friend say goodbye and start the way home, Hanako doesn't take long to stop you at the corner of the street to find out what's going on with you.

"-And suddenly you're all pale and sweating. Did you get a fever? Or is it the flu?" She asks quite a few questions, placing her hand on your forehead.

You quickly shake your head. The cause of all this isn't something you can understand or name, but you'd bet almost anything that it has to do with the guys from the Paranormal Club.

You decide you don't want to lie to your best friend, but you also don't want Hanako to think you've gone crazy.

"I felt really bad out of nowhere, when I was at the gate. Maybe it's like you said and I got sick... Or the sun was too strong for me, I don't know." You try to think of the different causes of what you could be feeling, from not drinking enough water, eating something bad, sleeping with the window open and so on. Rational and normal explanations. But even now you can still feel that non-physical presence, much weaker now, perhaps due to the greater distance.

Your words do not ease Hanako's confusion, nor her concern. "But then what happened to you..." She starts examining your hands, before slipping her's under your shirt, startling you and making you squeal.

"Hey! Don't worry, it's not that serious, Doctor Hanako." You say smiling while you fix your shirt.

Your friend seems to realize that she might make a scene if someone sees her and quickly pulls her hands away from her in embarrassment. She's not done yet, though.

"I don't want you to do anything heavy at work today, okay? Don't matter what that shorty you work with says." Hanako manages to sound authoritative, even with a red face and not meeting your eyes. "When you come back I'm going to make a chicken soup, okay?"

"Thanks Mom." You answer her, half seriously.

Hanako is somewhat irritated by your answer, but she is aware that it is difficult to take the situation seriously after that last bit. "Don't come crying to me later if you feel bad."

The walk home today is more relaxed than a few days ago, with you two walking side by side in silence. Maybe things are getting back to normal?

Even with such a hopeful thought, your head can't seem to let go of what happened a few minutes ago. What the hell was that? And why no one else felt it? Was it one of the guys from the paranormal club? No one was looking at you or paying attention, which leads you to think that maybe they weren't aware of what was going on.

Deciding to investigate this later, you focus on the path and the way the midday sun makes Hanako's golden hair shine, casting a halo around her.

She is one of the most beautiful girls you know, and she is not only willing to be with you, but she wants to be your girlfriend in the future.

"Thank you Hana-chan." You tell her, completely serious this time.

She doesn't turn to look at you, but you can see your friend smirk. "You're welcome. Just remembers, no crazy girls!"

By the time you get home, all traces of ailments or symptoms have disappeared, only a strange sense of emptiness that remains in your chest and the bewilderment about what happened.

The road to work seems to help you with both, revitalizing you and forming the idea in your head that maybe you should look for the answer in… unorthodox places.

When you arrive at your work, you greet Esaka and go to your post.

Turns out there isn't much to do today, since there aren't many new supplies and all the work you've already done. You quickly order everything and go out to explore the different areas of the building.

Walking through the book section while thinking about what to do, a children's book catches your eye. Its cover is nothing special, just a couple of kids running from a ghost, but that makes the idea that the paranormal is connected to what happened to you pop into your mind in a way that you can't ignore.

Searching among the other books, you try to find something that can help you.

Among the compilations of ghost tales and texts with a more academic focus, you will find Shimamoto Hotaru's Compendium of Ancient Legends and Traditional Customs.

It is a somewhat heavy book, but when you open it to take a look, you see that the book is not just filler, but quite the opposite, it is full of rituals and stories on a wide variety of topics, from cooking recipes to dealing with curses to traditional construction techniques for temples.

Happy to have found something like this, you start looking for other things of similar quality.

It is then that you find a book on psychology for children and adolescents. It seems common enough, one of those cheap books for concerned parents, but you decide that knowing more about yourself and others can't be such a bad thing.

You pay for both and head to take your place with Esaka.

You immediately know you made a mistake when you see how she smiles like a cat as she extends her hand. You must have hidden what you were buying.

Sighing, you hand the bag to your partner, who gladly accepts it.

"So you're doing research, huh...? Psychology and..." Esaka squints her eyes as she tries to understand the second book. "Traditional customs? Will your book be about samurai or something?" She asks you confused.

Moving to the other side of the counter, you take the books and put them back in the bag. "No, I don't think so. But who knows?"

"You're so mean, you don't tell me anything." Your coworker grumbles.

Laughing, you make Esaka an offer. "And if I tell you one of my ideas if you answer a question?"

Her eyes shine at her proposal. "Of course!"
>>
>>5745235
"Okay okay, what do you think about the supernatural?" You ask.

Esaka is puzzled by the topic, but she decides to talk anyway. "I don't know? I don't believe in those things, but my dad does. He really does. He always has rules for everything, and throws weird parties with his friends where they dress up and dance. My mom enjoys it."

She smiles when she finishes her explanation, and starts poking you with her finger. "And what are you going to write?"

You are not very satisfied with her answer, and you point it out. "Fantasy."

Esaka pouts. "Oh come on, tell me something else."

"Can't YOU tell me something else?" You try to dig a little more.

Your coworker scratches her head thoughtfully. "Ehh... Oh I know. When dad did renovations to the building, he took it upon himself to put some blessed stones in the foundation."

"No way, really?" You raise your eyebrow.

Esaka nods. "In every corner of the building. Are you going to tell me now?" She asks you, making puppy dog eyes.

You decide to fulfill your part of the bargain. "A romance novel in a fantasy world. Or just a romance novel."

"I can not believe it!" She barely contains the emotion. "Please tell me when you publish it, please please please!" Your coworker I beg you.

"Sure, you'll be one of the first to know." You reassure her, content that at least now you know that you already have a guaranteed purchase.

Going through the different areas of the building, you decide that you want to exercise your smooth talk skill a bit. No one knows if being a good saleman can save you in the future. And you can already see a couple of clients that may need some help.

Going through the shelves, you find a little old woman trying to reach the products on the top shelf.

Putting yourself to work, you introduce yourself and offer to help.

After a couple of subtle questions, the lady quickly explains that she's planning a big meal for a family reunion, but her local store is closed today, so she had to venture out here in search of what she wanted.

You are helpful and smiling as you guide her through the store, pointing out the location of the different products she is looking for and teaching her the value for money, trying to put the venerable woman at ease.

By the time you're done she's happily heading over to the register, her cart loaded with all manner of noodles, and condiments.

With your first challenge completed, you go in search of the next one.

You find it in an unexpected place, however, hidden under the table of a fast food stand. It is a nervous little boy, his trembling gaze fall on you from the shadows.

Without approaching where he is, you ask him simple questions, like if he wants to see someone or if he is hurt.

The boy is scared to the bone, but you manage to get him to trust you enough for him to reveal what happened. It turns out that, just as you thought, he lost sight of his mother, and in a panic attack he decided to hide.

After getting a description of his mother, you ask him to stay where he is and talk to one of the cleaners that was passing by to keep an eye on him.

Finding the boy's mother isn't too difficult, with her running down the halls in silent desperation, stopping people to ask if they've seen a child lost.

The mother amost jumps at you when you describes her son, just to ask where he is, nearly in tears.

You waste no time in bringing her to the place where you last saw the child, stepping aside as the boy shoots out from under the table into the embrace of her mother.

Feeling like a hero watching the family walk out the door holding hands, you walk with your chest full of pride through the different sections of the building, until you hear a shriek in the butcher area.

Passing between the shelves, you find an embarrassing scene.

A mature lady finds herself complaining loudly, speaking faster than you thought was possible, waving a piece of paper over her head. The butcher on the other side of the counter holds in his hands some ribs in front of the slicer, looking at her in utter confusion.

When you ask your colleague what's going on, he explains to you between the screams of the customer that she ordered two kilos of pork ribs, to which he calculated the price to be twenty thousand yens out loud as he prepared to cut the meat. Suddenly she went crazy and now asks for the two kilos at ten thousand yens, refusing to listen to why that's not possible.

Deciding to confront the woman who has marked you as the new target of his wrath, you begin to ask her where she got the idea that two kilos of pork ribs were ten thousand yen.

"Here." She angrily points to the paper in her hand, which you now realize is a coupon. "Pork, sale. Cheap. Not cheap. I don't want it. You japs always lying. I want the cheap meat." The woman speaks to you with a thick Chinese accent, which makes it hard for you to understand what she is talking about.

The woman doesn't take long to put the coupon back, almost scared that you want to steal it, but you only need one look to know that the coupon is over a year old. Why the hell wait until now to bring it?

After thinking about it a bit, you decided to be true to yourself and...

>Be nice.
You stood smiling before the lady for what seemed like hours, explaining to her over and over again in a soft and controlled voice why the coupon is not valid and she will have to pay the current price if she wants to take the meat, until the lady left irritated and slightly poorer.
>You improve your bonus when communicating from +30 to +35.

>Be professional.
You explained to the lady in simple terms that this is her problem and that the store will not be held responsible.
She tries to protest and kicking like a brat, but you quickly launch into such a cold rebuke that she walks away empty-handed.
>Your +30 bonus when communicating stay the same, but when trying to command people you will have a +10 bonus.

>Be naughty.
You apologized to the lady for her inconvenience and explained to her that this coupon is only valid at a nearby butcher shop, giving her another coupon as compensation.
She walked off with a smirk in the direction of a sharp-tongued, grouch war vet's butcher shop who SURELY will be sympathetic to a foul-mouthed foreigner coming with coupons from another store.
>Your +30 bonus when communicating stay the same, but when trying to deceive people you will have a +10 bonus.

When you start the journey to your sister's school, you feel more tired than in the days when you had to deal with full loads of supplies.

You try to blame the whole situation in the store, and you focus on the road, on what you will do on the weekend and on the divine feeling of the afternoon sun on your skin.

No, you are not avoiding thinking about any other cause.

Maybe you can go to the city's square to enjoy the fresh air with Hanako and Suzuko tomorrow or Sunday? The sudden idea seems quite attractive.

You are so lost in your thoughts that you almost run into the school gate, much to the amusement of the girls around you.

Suzuko seems to have mercy on you when she sees you embarrassed, surrounded by girls hiding giggles and smiles like proper ladies of a royal court, and don't make a scene by hugging you this time.

On the way home, your sister thanks you for your help, to which you look at her in confusion, until she tells you how the report you helped her with will be published and filed on the government website as an official document.

She doesn't even bother to tell you the grade she got on that assignment.

You wouldn't be surprised if one day her teachers started classifying her assignments with two hundred instead of just one hundred like the rest of mortals.

"Thank you, Onii-sama." Suzuko squeezes your hand in hers.

You ruffle her hair, laughing as your sister protests weakly. "Are you crazy? If what I told you was enough to get something like that done, my classmate would have get the same thing. This is great news! You're going to get a mention or something, right?"

Your little sister tries to fix her hair, looking at you with a mixture of happiness and frustration. "They said I'll be able to mention that document on my resume."

"See? You have to tell this to mom and dad tomorrow, they'll throw you a party." You tell her, incredulous of the heights that is reaching the girl that a few years ago did not want to leave your or dad's shadow, or that was so terrified of worms that refused to walk the earth barefoot..

"And how about we walk around the city tomorrow at noon?" Suzuko suddenly asks. "O-only us?"

You normally wouldn't have much trouble agreeing, but you promised to go on a "date" with Hanako as an apology for the whole Himuro situation.

What do you decide?

>"Of course, why not?"
>>Trick her and go around the city with her and Hanako.
You risk both of them getting mad at you.

You think about how you can balance the whole dilemma between the shopping trip with Hanako and Suzuko's wish, when you realize that the whole situation is not that complicated.

"A bit occupied tomorrow... But I have a better idea. I am free at the moment, and I wanted to buy some things anyway. Lets do it now, shall we? You can tell me about your friends along the way, you have to present them to me sometime." You offer your sister, nonchalant. The prospect of making your sister happy while you buy some books or other things to help you with your investigations lights up your mind as if someone had turned on a light bulb.

Suzuko's face shows conflicting emotions. First disappointment when you reject her idea, then happiness when she listens to your proposal, to which is then added a mixture of anxiety, confusion and suspicion at the end.

"I... I can call them and I'm sure they would like to go out with me... But why do you want to know about them?" Your sister looks into your eyes, searching for something in your gaze. "Did any of them talk to you or something?" She looks scared, though you can't understand why.

You smile softly, comfortably at your little sister. "No, but I don't know much about any of them, and I would like to know what kind of people you talk to and have fun with. I just want to know more about you, Suzu-chan."

Suzuko looks down and sticks to your side, walking in silence.

When she speaks again, it's in a soft, almost vulnerable way. "I know a lot of girls, but my best friends are my colleagues in the student council. There's Rei, who's like our secretary, she's studious and kind, really likes cats. Then there's Hikari, who's more... Determined in what she wants. She is in charge of organizing the sports club. And then there is Masuyo, who likes to organize parties and festivals. She is lively and somewhat wild, but would never hurt anyone for no reason."

A laugh escapes your lips as you caress your sister's hand. "I can't wait to meet them, they sound like a fun group to be in."

"They are." You can hear how Suzuko seems more relaxed, although she still doesn't seem to want to leave your side.

When you get home, Suzuko doesn't take long to sit on the couch in front of the television with her phone in hand to send messages, moving her fingers with almost hypnotic speed.

Deciding that it would be appropriate to do the same, you send Hanako a message to explain why you won't be home. She takes a while to answer.

>I wll stop by to giv you th soup
>Is cold
>I told you dont do anything today and you want to go out with your sister
>?

You sigh, scratching the back of your neck.

>I feel good now.
>And I wanted to leave tomorrow free to go shopping with you.
>Sorry.

You don't have to wait long for the answer this time.

>oh
>I guess is alright this time
>you feeld bad at work?

You wince at the memory.

>No.
>I had a difficult client, but I took care of that.

Hanako answers with great speed

>What he do to you?

You allow yourself a mischievous little smile.
>You improve your bonus when communicating from +30 to +35.

>She was being rude.
>Complaining and complaining.
>But in the end I made her buy what she came for.

Your friend answers almost immediately.

>I dont like that you hav to work and put up with those things
>your parents have money
>you should be enjoying these years

You bite your lip, unsure how to answer, only for Hanako to start typing again.

>and you don't have to
>I only said that to scare you
>About buying clothes I mean
>you don't have to do it

Your fingers float over the phone, before you decide your course of action.

>I want to spend time with you.

You smirk.

>Just don't torture me too much, okay?

For a long time you wait for an answer, but you get nothing.

"Onii-sama?" Suzuko's voice sounds next to you.

A small scream escapes from your lips, while you almost throw your cell phone out of fright.

Your sister laughs shamelessly while you try to regain control over your nerves.

Putting your phone in your pocket and smoothing your clothes, you try to act like nothing happened. "Do you need anything, Suzu-chan?"

She tries to control if she laughs to answer, but it's hard. "M-my friends say t-they like the idea, they're going to wait for us. I'm going to change my clothes, you should do the same." Your sister warns you, before retiring to her room.

Sighing deeply, you start to head for the stairs to follow Suzuko, when you hear a knock on the door.

When you open it, you are met by a smiling Hanako, who offers you a small pot. "Here, I brought your soup."

"Thank you Hana-chan." You almost drop the object when your friend passes it to you, too intent on looking for any sign of anger or other negative emotion on her cheerful face. "Smells pretty good-"

Hanako interrupts you by placing her hand on your forehead, only to place it on your neck.

"It seems you're fine." Your friend says with a strangely cold voice, like that of television actors. "Don't do anything strenuous today and make sure you get a good night's sleep, alright?"

You are somewhat confused by the situation but willing to go with the flow. "Anything else, Doctor Hanako?"

"Yes, I want you to show up tomorrow morning in my office in your best clothes." She winks at you, laughing, before you two say your goodbyes and head back to your respective houses.

You walk hand in hand with Suzuko through the streets, smiling at the way people turn to look at your sister.

She decided that she wanted to try on the white dress you gave her, and what better time than now?

Suzuko is the most beautiful and sweet little sister you could wish for, with a graceful natural walk, and a look that is both bright and determined, but wearing her new dress she is the image of an angel. You feel like you enjoy a privilege every time someone mistakes you for a partner on a date.

You adjust your shirt and your hair a bit while you focus your gaze on the apartment building where you will meet your sister's friends.

"Don't be nervous, they will not be mean with you." Suzuko tells you, without looking back.

You nod, not even trying to hide how anxious you are to meet up with your sister's friends. You don't want to create a bad impression, but you don't know how to act either.

When you get to the entrance of the building, you find three girls.
>>
>>5749926
The first is a thin, short and delicate-looking girl who watches you two carefully. She wears her hair long with two pigtails, which falls behind her over her blazer.

It doesn't take long for the second girl to salute happily when she sees both of you. She's short haired, a little more taller and... developed, wearing a pink sweater combo along with a big bow.

The third girl is the tallest, with very long hair and a shy expression, wearing a jacket over a shirt with a tie.

Your sister lets go of your hand to run at them and greet each one. They all seem to celebrate, with Suzuko spinning in the middle of the group, causing the skirt of her dress to rise. The girls examine it with great excitement, paying attention to every detail while your little sister laughs happily.

When you approach your sister introduces you to each girl respectively.

"She is Hikari, she is Masuyo, and she is Rei. Girls, this is my Onii-sama, Yuu." Suzuko introduces you to her friends.

"Hello, Yuu-san." The girls answer at the same time, all smiling in their own way.

"Hello, Hikari-san, Masuyo-san and Rei-san. Thank you for taking care of my sister." You lower your head, trying to be formal.

The girls start giggling together, while your sister pokes you with her finger in the side.

"Okay, now that we're here, what if..."

You can choose more than one, but keep in mind that if you do you will have to risk it getting dark.
No matter what you choose, you will go through a bookstore to buy what you need.

"What do you say about going to karaoke? I remember there was a really nice one near here." You offer to the girls, getting a good spectrum of reactions.

Suzuko seems to like the idea a lot, but she is confused as to why you would propose such a thing.

Next to her, Hikari immediately jumps up in excitement and merriment, the little bundle of energy starting to come up with songs to sing

On the other hand, although Masuyo does not seem to be against the idea, she inquires about the issue of money, in addition to asking where exactly the place is.

And then there's Rei, who seems very nervous about the idea, looking at you fearfully as she plays with the sleeves of her shirt.

You immediately set out to clear up Masuyo's doubts. "It's near the old hospital, did you have ever see the big dog statue? You follow that street three blocks. You can't miss it, it's the red building." Memories of the place don't take long to put a smile on your face. "And don't worry about the money, I'll pay."

You may not have been in a while, but you still remember the trail by heart. Maybe you can go with your friends there later?

Unfortunately, Masuyo's face suggests that she did not understand your directions. "Could you repeat what you said please, Yuu-san?" She asks, cell phone in hand.

Sighing, your sister comes to your rescue. "It's in Jotomachi Noda, near the corner with Shinei." Suzuko's sharp gaze falls on you, as she crosses her arms.

You smile awkwardly at her, scratching the back of her neck. "I'm sorry."

"I-I'm not sure..." Rei's soft voice says from behind Masuyo, the taller girl trying to stand in her shadow without much success.

A smiling Hikari tries to persuade her friend, perhaps with too much energy. "It'll be great! Like reciting poetry, but with the music and everything! I'm going to use the maracas, and you can use the cymbals! Come on, it'll be fun, Rei-rei!

The tall girl takes a deep breath, before giving a weak, but genuine smile. "L-let's do it, then!"

All the girls quickly start exchanging messages with their parents before starting their way to karaoke.

Walking behind the girls while they say the songs they would like to sing, you approach the girls to find out more about the activities your sister does at school.

"And what do you do for fun at school?" You ask, smiling at how your sister's group seems pretty close.

Hikari immediately turns around to answer. "We built a house in the back of the school!"

"What?" You look at the other girls for confirmation, and as expected, it seems that the short girl exaggerated things a bit.

Masuyo decides to explain things to you in more depth. "We didn't build a house, what we did was build a small shed so that our water bottles don't get too hot under the sun while we are in PE."

"Wow, that sounds awesome." You can't help but say, drawing giggles from Hikari and Suzuko, and small proud smiles from Masuyo and Rei, before focusing on your sister. "Why didn't you tell me about that, Suzu-chan?"

Suzuko concentrates on looking straight ahead, so you can't see her expression. "I only handed out tools to the senpais, I didn't do much, really."

"They only let us make the door!" Something that bothered Hikari, from what looks like.

"But only they have experience using the machines." Rei speaks softly, trying to be understanding.

"And they were the ones who brought the wooden planks and the other things, it's not like we had much of a choice." Masuyo declares conclusively, before turning to look at you. "We don't do things like that every day, we almost always have fun with the girls from the music club or watch horror shorts."

"We also went through magazines with the sewing club looking for ideas for dresses and uniforms." Add your sister.

"Or we organize the choreographies of our cheerleading squad!" Sum Hikari.

The girls laugh heartily at the last, even Rei, though she tries to hide it. You can't help but smile, even if you don't understand what is surely an inside joke between them, at the obvious and genuine friendship right before your eyes.

When you arrive at the place, the guy behind the counter gives you an amused smile as he greets you, watching the girls who examine every corner of the reception as if hiding a secret room.

"I haven't seen you in a while, and I see you bring in some new clients." He tells you, charging you before handing you the keys to one of the rooms.

"We'll try not to break anything, sir." You smile at him, before herding the girls out into the hallway.

"And do either of you have a older siblings?" You ask, something curious.

"I have two brothers!" Hikari answers, reaching the door marked number five and standing anxiously next to it.

"I have a sister." Reveals Masuyo, intrigued by your question.

"I only have a younger brother." Rei whispers, walking against the wall.

"That's great, Rei-san. We have to stick together then, taking care of spoiled brats isn't easy." You reply back to her, earning the girls giggles and another poke in the ribs from a pouting Suzuko.

Opening the door to the small room, the cheerful girls quickly flow inside, taking the tablet connected to the small TV and playing with the different instruments as you close the door.

"I go first!" Hikari rise her hand.

"Me second!" Say Suzuko, and a heartbeat later Masuyo, with the girl in pink lowering her hand and accepting third place.

Rei seems content with using the maracas.

Hikari stands in front of the table, trembling with excitement as the music begins to blare through the small room.

"This is so cool!" She laughs happily. "I always wanted to do this!"

"Hi-kari! Hi-kari! Hi-kari!" The girls and you cheer her on, clapping in unison until the lyrics of the song start appearing on the screen, at which point the short girl take control of the scene.

You are immediately struck by the way her voice goes from shrill from one moment to a soft and melodic one the next.

"Oh don't you dare look back!
Just keep your eyes on me!
I said you're holding back
She said shut up and dance with me!
This woman is my destiny
She said oh! ooh! ooh!
Shut up and dance with me!"

Everyone tries to keep up, you and Rei with some maracas, while Suzuko and Masuyo continue clapping, reaching a point where even Hikari begins to dance, all smiling. You can't help but feel out of place singing the chorus with your sister and her friend, but you just go with the flow.

As the song ends, Hikari sighs and wipes the sweat from her brow, the singing seeming to be more strenuous than meets the eye, if her wobbly legs are any indication, but that doesn't erase the mischievous smile on her face or the sparkle in his eyes. "Ah! I can't move, I'm falling! Help!"

A smirking Suzuko soon hugs her friend, leading her to the left side to sit.

"Can we ask for water or something?" Masuyo asks you from your right, next to Rei, the girl in pink playing with the tablet to stopnthe song.

"Sure, they'll come in a few minutes with drinks." You turn to look at Hikari, who is fanning her face with both hand. "We don't want our singer to die here."

The girl immediately seems to come alive again, if only to point her finger at you theatrically. "I'll sing again, just wait!"

Your sister rolls her eyes, taking the microphone from her friend's hand. "My turn now! Mayu-chan, what songs are there?"

When everything seems to be in order, Suzuko begins to dance slowly and deliberately as the melody builds up.

"You're so obvious
To words I've never said!
Isn't it obvious
That we would always get
to place
Where would we make mistakes?
All you've seen is beauty, well
This is the ugly, this is the ugly truth!"

You can't help but stop when her gaze meets yours, bewitched. The mixture of her cute dress, her beautiful face, the angelic voice that dominates your senses and the graceful movements, you can only think how lucky you are to have such a perfect sister.

The only thing that would make the moment even better would be if you understood English, but you couldn't care less about that now.

When the song ends, she looks just as tired and sweaty as Hikari, but your sister still manages to crawl over the short girl to reach your side. Her face de ella is red as a tomato and she can't help but gasp, but that doesn't stop her from grinning from ear to ear. "H-how was t-that, O-onii-sama?"

You can't help but stroke her head, laughing. "Beautiful, Suzu-chan. You were beautiful."

Your sister seems pleased with your answer, before dropping her head into your lap, worn out.

Masuyo lets out a laugh when she sees her friend faint. On the other hand, Rei seems touched by the scene, unable to contain an "Awww".

As Suzuko and Hikari try to recover, you hear someone knocking on the door.

When Masuyo gets up to open it, it is revealed that is one of the attendants, carrying a tray with a bottle of water, a bottle of juice, and some sweets.

The girl in pink happily accepts the food, leaving it on the table while you try to wake up Hikari and Suzuko.

The two girls are soon sitting side by side drinking glasses of juice like two babies sucking feeding bottle, both with vacant stares and peaceful expressions on their faces.

While the girls drink, you try to make conversation with Rei and Masuyo.

"I have to thank you again for taking care of my sister. She never told me anything about her life at school." You thank them again.

Masuyo and Rei nod, with the latter avoiding your gaze. "You don't have to, she's our friend. We were surprised when she told us that you would come with us, she doesn't talk much about her life at home neither." Masuyo respond.

"It's good to know that she has such kind classmates." You declare, before turning your attention to Rei, who is trying to shrink down from where she is sitting. "I don't bother you, do I?"

"O-oh no no! It's n-not that, it's just…" The tall girl seems to be struggling to find the right words.

"She's not good at talking to boys." Masuyo explains, eating cookies while she passes another to Rei.

The girl nods, accepting the food. "Y-yeah, that."

You nod, understanding the dilemma. Some people just can't talk to strangers, they need time and safety to open up. That doesn't stop you from trying, however. "Then don't think about me like a boy, think I'm an older siblings, like you."

That seems to work to your surprise, when Rei brushes her hair aside and looks into your eyes. "May I ask... What was Suzuko-san like when she was younger?" The question seems to gain Masuyo's interest as well.

You smile at the naked interest on the girls' faces. "She was much more shy, she was always studying at home, reading o waching TV, she didn't go out much, but when we have to go out to buy food or something, she would make a list with everything we were going to do and would start to get dressed and organize her things as if we were we were going on a trip for days."
>>
>>5754543
The three of them laugh softly, shooting glances at the purple-haired girl who is beginning to regain consciousness.

"W-what are you-u talking- Hik! A-about O-onii-sama?" She asks, pouting.

"Y-yeah, Onii-sam-ma?" Hikari echoes.

They got drunk on the juice?

When the two girls are a bit more awake, it is Masuyo's turn to sing.

She decides to do it from her own seat, not wanting to risk herself like Hikari and your sister, but that doesn't affect her ability to lyrically at all.

"Sometimes, all I think about is you
Late nights in the middle of June
Heat waves been fakin' me out
Can't make you happy now!
Sometimes, all I think about is you
Late nights in the middle of June
Heat waves been fakin' me out
Can't make you happy now!"

Rei and you snigger watching as Suzuko and Hikari try to raise their hands to clap, but they miss more times than they succeed.

After congratulating Masuya, you decide to take the microphone.

You hesitate a bit when you have the black silindrl in your hands and the gaze of the four girls on you, but as you go through the selection of songs, you find an old acquaintance of years before.

Deciding that you don't mind embarrassing yourself, and perhaps taking your sister's reputation as collateral damage too, you get up from your seat, walk in front of the girls, and press play on the player.

"There's a mountain, that I have to climb,
It's so high, and I'm so behind.
Get on up, move on now,
Ain't no place I haven't gone!

Feelin' so good today,
Ain't nobody standing in my way.
Tomorrow it's gonna be a price to pay,
Feelin' so good today!"

Your sister covers her face while her friends can barely squirm with laughter at seeing you dance out of tune, Hikari pointing at you as she shakes Suzuko, while on the other side Rei tries to control Masuyo from knocking over something on the table.

When you finish dancing, you feel like your body is jelly. Somehow you manege to sit again, but then Suzuko climbs on top of you, trying to shake you off your shirt collar. "I hate you I hate you!"

Holding her against your chest, you fight to catch your breath.

Laughter, screams and music filled the small room, until it was time to leave or pay more.

Hikari soon begged you to pay for another hour, promising everything, from bringing you food every day to borrowing his older brothers' video game consoles.

Suzuko's face showed disappointment too, but she refrained from kneeling down and begging like her friend.

Together with Masuyo and Rei, you manage to clean the seats and organize the empty bottles and candy wrappers in the tray they came from.

By the time everyone walks out the door, you're carrying a tired Suzuko on your back, while next to you Rei carries Hikari on her shoulder like a sack of potatoes, the tall girl showing no problem carrying the almost unconscious girl.

Masuyo can't help but take photos of both of them, already having a collection of everyone making a fool of themselves in karaoke for sure.

Arriving in the shadow of the building where you meet them, you take a moment to say goodbye, and to your surprise, exchange numbers.

Masuyo and Rei agree that in this way they could notify you if your sister has problems at school or something similar, in addition that you can notify them if something happens to her at home.

Your sister doesn't seem to like the idea, trying to make growls that sound more like cat purrs. You can't blame her, the smile Masuya gave you and the way Rei looked away makes you think that this is all part of a game, but you decide that the obvious advantages are worth the penalties you might suffer.

Exchanging a few last laughs and goodbyes, you part ways under the last rays of the afternoon sun.

Taking a detour from the route home, you head to a nearby library, where you buy a couple of books: Two on the changes that the fantasy and science fiction genres have undergone over the years, one on the concept of romance, and a last one about the different forms of literary terror.

The old cashier can't help but chuckle watching you carry your sister around the bookstore.

The weight of your sister on top of you plus the books in your hands becomes a nuisance in the final stretch, but the sight of her smiling comfortably on your shoulder reflected in a store window convinces you to try a little harder.

By the time you get home and drop Suzuko on the couch, you feel destroyed, staggering to your room to shower.

When you come downstairs, wearing more comfortable clothes and feeling more revitalized, you can see how your sister heated up the bean soup and served it on two plates.

You guys keep silence while you eat, you very focused on savoring your friend's delicious food, while Suzuko almost looks like a ghost trying to recover her energy by devouring what she has in front of her.

When you're done and you go to your room to sleep, you're surprised trying to close the door by your sister dressed in her pajamas, whose eyes have gained some clarity now.

"Can I sleep with you today?" She asks weakly at the edge of the threshold.

"Eh?" You answer eloquently, already feeling the call of your soft pillow behind you.

Suzuko doesn't answer, she just stays where she is, shyly playing with her hands.

How do you answer?

>"You're too old for these things..."
Refuse.

>"It's going to be a little tight in my bed..."
Accept.

You don't have to fill every empty moment of the two days, just the ones you think are important or entertaining.

>"It's going to be a little tight in my bed..."

If we refuse she's just gonna come at us while we sleep like last time and us being none the wiser, at least like this we know where she is and we can be better prepared for any imouto hijinks.

Surely we can finish the book in one weekend if we try, and the sooner we are prepared the less chances for... incidents to happen.

She seems too tired to try anything either way, but if we reject her she'll remember it and will try to make up for it.

Quest is kill. And such a good one too.

Alas. If I had the right voice and mentality for it, I'd continue it myself.

I will continue voting to NOT fuck our little sister.

And so will I.

Man, kinda disappointed how the quest ended up. All I wanted was funny rolls to prevent incest hijinks but it got way off the rails with a hundred characters and a goddamn complex combat system we never used.
If someone picks up the quest, please keep it simple...

I'm sad that we'll never know what the paranormal stuff is about.
