>What is this?
"The Mystery Dungeons" is a text-based role-playing game created to expand on the setting created by the spinoff series, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (particularly Explorers of Sky). Players isekai themselves into the world and become Pokémon, going on adventures with their newfound guild mates! SFW ONLY

Want to catch up on the story? Previous Threads:
https://rentry.org/TMD_LHG-megasummary

>I'd like to participate!
Always feel free to join in to see if it will stick with you. People come and go as they please, but there are plenty of regulars, including artists and writers. Outside the main quests hosted here on /qst/ twice a week, a majority of side quests, lore, and role play happen almost all the time on the Element!

>How do I play?
First, fate must decide which Pokémon you become: https://randompokemon.com

Settings to Use: Generate 1, All Regions, All Types, all boxes checked (natures optional if you feel like giving your Pokémon a little extra in characterization).
Take a screenshot so we know you probably weren't lying—admittedly, while rerolling is frowned upon (although no one has any real issue with it)—after all, it's just something you and your conscience have to deal with!
Alternatively, if you're feeling much more truthful, go ahead and roll in the thread for your Pokémon! (1d905). Some legendaries and mythicals have been dropped from the available roster. Assume that the box art legendaries are unavailable.

>Okay, now what?
Join the Element and read the sticky, it has the (almost) complete starter guide! It'll show you how to set up your character profile, create locations to play in, and record the lore of your exploits: https://matrix.to/#/#themysterydungeons:matrix.org. A majority of side quests, lore, and role play happen here! Otherwise, the two (usually) weekly sessions push the main stories along.

If you feel you might need help, feel free to ask!

Our next LIVE main adventures start on Saturdays around 7:30PM in this thread!

Namefag as your character, with your item and level!

Last time on LHG...

The scouting group inspecting the abyss has most likely located what they were searching for. With the conveniently placed beacon that illuminates a much faster path down without having to navigate the gravity-suspended waters, the rest of the guild can be brought in to explore the new depths. And so, Kaku, Poli, Theodore, Astor, and Tintoretto swim back up to the surface to the patiently waiting Lapras.

This time, they return on a convoy of Lapras, carrying a majority of the guild. A Noivern carrying Sneasel shadows behind the group, soaring lazily in the afternoon ocean air. Everyone arrives at the location and dive to the deep below, careful to follow the experienced scouting group. It's disorienting for some as the water abruptly ends and the ground resumes, spitting everyone down to the platform beneath the endless ocean and just above the yawning abyss.

In front of you, a shimmering pool of starry water is surrounded by meticulously curated stones. From your side, Sneasel steps forth.

"Hehe. This is definitely it," she says, dragging a claw against the old stones. "Haha. Who wants in first?"

Your choices:
>Ask about this place.
>Inspect the pool further.
>Let's go in!!!

So uh... what's this all about here?
>>
>>5669254
The Lapras all look at Tinto, confused. One of them peers down at him, concerned. "What's wrong?" she asks.

>>5669265
Sneasel chuckles as she watches Stern enter the pool without any hesitation. Stern feels like he's been embraced by a cool, oily liquid, grappling him further down. None of it sticks to his skin as he sinks further into the spatial void, which feels strange. How can something drag him even as it slips off his body?

He's still falling, very slowly.

>>5669267
Sableye can see the surface doesn't even show his own reflection. The only thing it reveals is a starry view of a galaxy above. It feels very... old. Impossibly ancient.

Sneasel sits down on one of the barrier rocks and shrugs. "Haha. Won't know until we go in." You notice she's holding a square plate in her claws. It's familiar. Where have you seen that thing before?
>>
>>5669277
Right... Hey, what's that you've got there, Sneasel? It seems... very familiar.

Poli elects to cross-reference it with a strange book he carries around. It doesn't appear to have any relevant information... or much of anything? Nothing in that even seems like words...
>>5669265
>>5669267
"So it doesn't reflect stuff, and you sink in it like molasses... How're you feeling, Stern?" Poli asks, like some sort of strange, unlicensed doctor.
>>
>>5669277
Vee is quietly and patiently waiting for important information to memorize.
>>
>>5669284
"It's kinda cool, and... oily. It kind of feels like what I would've guessed liquid space feels like!"
>>
>>5669281
Each Lapras share an equally confused look. "Do you think you could narrow down your problem?" he asks.

Another speaks up. "Or maybe talk to your group? We're specialized in transporting 'mons, not... with injuries."

They nod in agreement.

>>5669280
"Haha." She twirls it around. "A little something I had some of you take from, heh, a train."

>>5669282
Kaku experiences the same sensation as Stern as he sinks into the pool. His hair almost puffs out into the strange liquid as he falls slowly in.

>>5669284
Despite its worn age, some symbols are etched into the stones. You realize that they are written in Unown.
>It spells out O-R-I-G-I-N

Sneasel continues to flourish the black plate around. "You can all head in, hehe, whenever. It's perfectly safe. Haha. Probably." Finally, she stops playing with the mysterious object and slowly falls backward, diving headfirst. Compared to Stern and Kaku, she vanishes immediately, swallowed up by the starry water.
>>
>>5669298
"Hey, how come SHE disappeared instantly?"
Stern continues his slooooow descent.

Vee watches as Sneasel and Sable >>5669303 simply hop into things. "I wish I was cool enough to slowly fall backwards, headfirst into a large body of water, and have everyone go along with it just 'cause it was cool," he says to no one.

Vee gets a running start, leaping up and covering his nose with his paws before he hits the liquid's surface. His nose is sensitive, he doesn't want nose pains while he's swimming! That's the most concerning part of being underwater.
>>
>>5669298
"Fascinating." Poli notes, flipping pages rapidly, none of which make any sense. "Origin..." he repeats to himself, aloud. He spends a few seconds doing what seems like cross-referencing footnotes, but eventually slams the book shut, holds it close to his stomach, and hops in!
"No sense theorizing when I can test it myself! Wheeee!" he announces, the 'whee' coming before he's even sure he'll move at a pace that would inspire such a reaction.

Everyone in the water suddenly feels a sensation of weightlessness, as any feeling of being "held" is gone. Almost immediately, they begin falling faster and faster as the stars blur into fuzzy lines.

Your vision begins stretching out as you fall increasingly faster and faster. The lights become blindingly bright as you hurtle forth uncontrollably in this strange, faster than light tunnel. A thrumming noise of the cosmos fills your brain and mind as your body approaches its physical limits. Faster, faster, faster, until you hit the ceiling of what is possible.

And without much fanfare, you all find yourselves floating face first in shallow waters, staring up at the glittery, galactic sky. A fiery hue reaches up towards the celestial heavens from the horizon, almost as if the trailing wisps of the flames could almost scorch the stars. Wherever you are now, you're nowhere near home. There is no denying that.

For everyone in the Primaordial Sea, you feel a strange sensation. It fills your lungs, your blood, your mind and soul. It is power incarnate, raw and overwhelming. Your nerves dance with delight and fire as something embraces every part of your physical frame with unrivaled energy. You are at the point of origin, where all things had to have begun. And it teems with unbridled energies of life.

Those who have tasted Empowerment before, you know what this is... but this is more than just whatever small portion is contained within those seeds. This is something grander. Infinity.
>Weather: Primal Empowerment
>All Pokémon on the floor experience permanent Empowerment and Mega-Evolve if possible.

Sneasel is sitting nearby, wordless. It seems she's concentrating.

Stern takes a whiff of pure energy and nearly doubles over. It's like breathing in spice and mint all at once.

"That's what this is?" Vee shifts himself where he stands. "It feels like there's too much of me to go around, ehehehe..." It's like nothing he's ever felt before, that makes it mildly uncomfortable.

On the other side of the fall, all of Bind's senses demand of him of him at once to draw in as much information as possible and conceal his own in turn.

>You will not experience Berserk while in this state, but be wary...

Your limbs tingle with excess energy, practically burning off like a trail of stardust. Moving around the shallow water leaves behind a cloud of rapidly dissipating sparkles, attuned to the color of your aura. As you all acclimate to the strange feeling of limitless energy coursing through you, you notice Sneasel is standing up.

"Hehe. Well, glad you're all enjoying it." She rolls her shoulders. "Haha. But remember, we're still here to, heh, do a job. Look ahead. That isn't a mountain. I need all of you to find a way to the top and across to find the control altar, where this fits in."

Looking across, you do see an imposing, towering shape. As your eyes adjust, you realize that, true to her word, that isn't a mountain. The impossibly tall shape is a wall of water taller than any skyscraper you've seen before.

>>5669358
Without even breaking a beat, she evades effortlessly and continues talking. Sneasel holds up the black plate and activates it, revealing a glowing set of rings. "We need the signature of this place before we can leave. Hahaha. This won't be easy."

As they move closer, Bind can seemingly isolate the noise of another, separate creature creeping below the shallow waters. And it's quickly approaching.

>>5669397
Citrine can tell that if it is moving, it's moving quite slowly.

A Mega Gyarados explodes from under the water cover, showering the area in a cloud of fine mist and spray. It bellows an intimidating roar, shaking your ears and body. The feral jumps into the air as a display of dominance, casting a massive shadow over the group.

From whatever and wherever they had been hiding behind, they've managed to catch the entire group by surprise. Their combined assault throws a distracting amount of water around, breaking up the formation.

Bind can feel that the water is shallow, but the ground beneath is less receptive to remaining solid. With enough consistent pressure, it's just like the tar-like pool once enough force is applied. Bind pauses with a flourish for 20 frames, shortened to three after slowdown. He catches both of the other divers in his ears with a spin, using their weight and leverage to build some momentum before slingshotting them both at Gyarados!

Almost immediately, a massive beam erases the Mega Pinsir from existence. As the blinding lights recede, the only indication that something had been there previously is simply dancing motes of energy, fading away into the air of Infinity.

>>5669430
The Mega Gyarados feels a shifting weight brought to bear as it's sent crashing down to the shallow waters, sending a cascade of waves around the immediate area. Almost immediately and while severely injured, it retaliates by unleashing an unending deluge right on top of Stern!
>Mega Gyarados used Waterfall on Stern for 1,232 damage!

Astor narrowly avoids hitting Tintoretto, watching as the pebble flies away uselessly. The Mega Aerodactyl does take notice of this and immediately sends back a rock of its own, lobbing a heavy sharpened stone, larger than itself, right into Astor's chest! The attack strikes true with terrifying accuracy. A second Stone Edge is sent barreling at Tintoretto, but it seems its focus had been narrowed on the bird, barely scraping by him as it fell from the sky.

Bind launches the two like living bullets, practically sending a shockwave as the two speed up faster than that time they created a makeshift cannon. With the overwhelming amount of Infinity Energy in the air, they practically ignite like a crashing meteor. The two of them crash into the Gyarados at the same time, resulting in a massive cratering blast that sends a column of water spraying into the air.

They fall back down, with Sableye using his gem-shield as a surfboard to safely break the height's danger, with Vee riding merrily along. Turning to look around, there's nothing left of the Gyarados. Like the Pinsir, it seems it has been vaporized by the excessive energies.

As the adrenaline dies down, Sableye feels himself stabbed by several sharpened missiles, all of them crashing into his unprotected back.
>Mega Heracross used Pin Missile on Sable for 858 damage!

Citrine can feel tapping behind him. Curiously, he turns around to see a tiny Kangaskhan looking up at him... before it picks it up and throws him as if he weighed nothing! As he flies through the air, he's punched into the water by a downward chop from a much larger Kangaskhan!

Poli launches a set of mysterious runes, peppering the Kangaskhan in a blast of dark magicks. She raises her arms to block the worst of it. On the surface of where the runes contacted, poison oozes off. The feral groans in frustration, only to be forced back on the defensive as another attack homes in from Sableye, this time, scorching its hide with beams of light. While the Kangaskhan looks to be unable to take another round of attacks, it's still standing. But not for long.

As Bind mysteriously forces Citrine further into the not-ground, not a second of reprieve or breath is given to the Kangaskhan as the mother is sent straight to the sky by a spherical Citrine. She lands on her back, nearly knocked out... but with her Parental Bond, it's not quite over. Forcing herself up, the two prepare one last offensive. With a roar, she runs up to Bind and locks him in a constricting-ly tight Bewear hug. Unable to move, the baby Kangaskhan lets out its own little cry before delivering a free strike straight to Bind's face! Concluding that, Kagaskhan doesn't have much energy left to restrain Bind, dropping him unceremoniously. As the Mega Lopunny is released, Baby Kangaskhan's fist is wreathed in blue energy.

As Bind freezes in place, his mind slowing down as he watches the Baby Kangaskhan prepare to utterly maul him with another follow-up attack, he notices Sableye dash in front of him holding up his mighty gem to take the attack. He takes the opportunity to hide behind his friend. However, the heroics are short-lived as the Baby Kangaskhan is blasted in the back by a blast of lasers from Citrine, sending it off-course and tumbling to the side, concentration broken. Almost immediately, the space that Bind, Sable, and the Baby Kangaskhan occupy is suddenly shot at by a super-heated scorching blast of water, covering the area in a massive cloud of vision-obscuring steam.

Consequently, Sableye's eyes fog up. Quite strange. In any case, Poli's overwhelmingly heated scald scolded the Kangaskhan from reality. The mother Kangaskhan lets out a final wail, vanishing into a burst of Infinity Energy.

Vee throws the weaponized rock at the Mega Camperupt, watching as the stone begins to glow a furious color as it collides with the Pokémon. Vee compounds the situation in the hopes of countering the Camerupt. While he does manage to disrupt the volcanic Pokémon from cracking the crust apart like an egg, Vee has caused forced the area to burst wide open. Expecting magma, instead, liquified Infinity Energy bubbles and erupts from the open space, vaporizing the water into stardust. The Camerupt is caught in the resulting blast, erasing the feral as it is returned from whence it came.

Vee now needs to roll an additional d20 to escape being turned into celestial powder.

Bind manages to harness just the right amount of power from the Primaordial Sea to be controllable, conjuring up a wave for the less mobile members to utilize. Even if Bind doesn't help him, his chances of surfing are already looking quite tubular, brah.
>Wait here and see what Bind can do?
>Let's take the chance and shred the wave!

The area is destabilizing as the cracks grow larger and concentrated Infinity bleeds out.

Sneasel calls out to the group. "Hahaha! Don't get caught in the glowing stuff, or you'll regret it! The wave is moving away from us, so keep up if you can! The goal is the altar at the top! I'm sure you smart cookies can figure out how to climb a wave!"

Slipping out from the ground, you can see more ferals crawling up to give chase...

Vee worries for a moment, perhaps the first time in a while, if he'd be happy with the way things have been if this was the end. Maybe he could say he had fun, or that he helped his friends. That'd be nice, he thinks.

Putting what he believes very well could be the last of his starry energy into everything he can do in a few short moments, he kicks against the ground envelopes himself in stardust, the power of Refresh. It might not be as good as a Wish, but it's all he can do, and that's all that matters.

Inside his scarf, a Normalium Z is turned to glowing dust and added to his Vee-sized bubble of soothing, replenishing stardust he called upon to protect himself from this point-blank eruption of cosmic energy. If he's going to be put in a situation like this, he's going to make the most of it, and if he can help it, ride it out in style.

Vee used Z-Refresh!

Paired with the power of a Normalium, Refresh restores all of the user's HP. He's already standing at twice his usual max, but what can he say? Maybe, if he's lucky, he'll triple it. Maybe he'll become a star. A Vee can dream...

Vee takes the chance to smother himself in helpful energies. Wrapped in healing light and boosted by crystallized energy, the Eevee manages to narrowly avoid suffering the same fate as a fading feral.

The wall of water doesn't look to be too far away, but the area ahead has become treacherous. A second wave of Awakened Ferals have crawled out between the cracks, and the water erupts with geysers of Infinity Energy. It doesn't help that the wave is actually slowly moving away from you.

Everyone is currently on relatively equal ground to make it to the altar. There seem to be three routes that you can try to go through:

Stern, despite his ailing injuries, manages to swiftly haul ass down the strait of energy without too much trouble. It helps to be the first! Kaku comes in second. The ferals have grown wise to the deception and have begun closing in, but they're not quite swift enough to box the slippery hair monster and his passenger in! Narrowly avoiding being given a buzz-cut by a Mega Pinsir, Kaku slips through with ferals hot on his tail.

Despite his decent lead, Sable doubles back and wades toward Bind. Considering how tumultuous the water has become, the small gremlin hauling the gem on his back takes a considerable amount of time to go all the way back to Bind.

Bind actually finds that Vee is the one falling behind everyone else, left to fight a Gyarados by himself. Sneasel and Kaku are already well on their way to the water wall.

The Mega Camerupt snorts and is encased in a ball of flames, charging at Bind! Meanwhile, the Mega Kangaskhan and the Baby Kangaskhan are approaching Sable, looking to cut him off from protecting his friend.

The water is spiderwebbed by splintering lines of gold, occasionally highlighted by bright flashes caused by energy exhausting itself into the empowered air.

Like solar-heated metal striking down, the two of them crash down near the top of the water wall, just a brief swim away. Their entire perspective has shifted. It looks like everyone down there has been vertically flipped.

"Hehe, nice one... just a little further now," Sneasel comments.

Following the map is a little difficult, considering whatever path had been designed for the interpreter to take had long since faded with time. Now, plants and cliffs were lodged in your way, obstructing the way. After a couple of days of meandering aimlessly, lost without any landmarks or someone to offer directions, you stumble upon what you might be looking for. In your exploration exhaustion, it's not immediately clear as to what the discovery is, but soon enough it clicks in your head. Taking a careful step forward, you make note of the gentle slope that rapidly declines until it simply leaves jagged rock in its place.

The dark, cavernous hole almost looks like a maw, ready to close shut behind you. Peering down, you see nothing but the immediate walls before pitch black. Consulting your map and your other expedition members, this must be the place...

Either way, it's a fascinating look to the whole thing. Other than that, there's not much else to make note of... which then begs the question... how are they supposed to go down this thing?

Konstantin notes that his lantern doesn't seem to even fully illuminate the bottom. Citrine's Light Core doesn't fare much better. Just how far does this go?

Your choices:
>Just... jump! We'll figure out a way to land, or... something.

It's almost like trying to carve out a wall made of solid steel! Trying to scrape away at the material that forms the opening to the hole hurts his claws. Eventually, he does manage to make some progress, but it's not very far: the sunlight is still on his back.

>>5679459
With his size and the gravity-defying powers of the balloon, Citrine has mostly guaranteed a way down for himself. Although the fall won't be fatal, it certainly isn't going to be pleasant.

>>5679460
Konstantin, without much of a plan, decides to simply enter by falling in! Was this a smart decision? His ears lift back and up, like streamers in the wind, as he takes the plunge. Unlike the other two, the Lopunny is quickly grabbed by the darkness.

Konstantin... Might not have preformed the smartest move, but despite that, he's sure it'll work out.

Regardless, he curls up, and prepares for impact. Hopefully he won't break anything
>>
>>5679479
Despite his expertise in digging, there's no significant progress to be made on making a safer path down. If he continues picking away at the rock, he'll be here forever! Looking up from your exhaustive work, there are some trees nearby with big leaves...

>>5679489
Citrine prepares himself to hit rock bottom (pun intended) with some shielding offered by Iron Defense. His slow fall finally lets him into the darkness, with his Light Core flickering to life. However, all it does is mostly just illuminate himself and the shiny little balloon keeping him from meeting a supposedly grisly demise.

>>5679496
Konstantin tucks in and readies to hit whatever like some sort of living cannonball. A strange decision, certainly, but what else can you do when falling down? As seconds pass and tick into minutes... he has a gnawing sensation that he's been falling for a long time now... which itself is quite strange. Is it really that deep...? There's not much detail to this place, but a gut feeling tells him there's something more going on here.

Citrine looks at the inside of the pit, not expecting to see much. There has to be a bottom, right?
>>
>>5679505
Uncurling, he begins making his way to the sides, holding up his lantern during his seemingly endless freefall. Bringing it up, he can begin to see some sort of pattern in the walls, but he can't quite discern it.

>>5679508
After being unable to dig, he decides it's time to join the others. Sable takes one of the leaves and holds it up before taking the leap himself! His size compared to what the leaf offers is definitely more than enough, and he slowly spins down in the ample space that the pit affords him. Keeping good control over the makeshift glider, it's strange that he manages to catch up to Citrine!

>>5679516
Citrine, meanwhile, uses his Light Core to inspect the walls. The surface, lit up by the orb, is a fast-moving blurred mess, but there's a feeling that the longer he stares, the more familiar the wall becomes. It's almost like it's repeating somehow.

It doesn't take long for the whole group to eventually reunite, despite each of you all jumping at wildly different times. Now something is definitely up.

Sableye summons up the powers of the Earth to tackle the unknown below! Accelerating away from his friends with his claws outstretched and ready to pull apart the ground... he... how did he get above the other group members? Looking around in confusion, it seems that... he's looping? He passes Citrine and Konstantin again!

>>5679543
Konstantin takes out his blade to attempt to slow down, but it's no use as the blade harmlessly clinks against the tough surface, unable to find any purchase between the rock. Considering how fast he's moving, it's not easy to get the proper form. If there even was a form for stabbing something to slow down your fall.

>>5679545
Turning away and building up momentum to go completely sideways, Citrine successfully contacts the wall and enters a full spin. Supported in part by his balloon, he begins to circle around the hole, looking like a marble riding down a funnel. However, as he spins, he feels a dent in his once-smooth path. Citrine, with his limited vision, attempts to slam down onto the dent he felt earlier. However, as he moves into position, he quickly learns that the dent was just the tip of the iceberg! His momentum carries him into a crater in the wall before he begins spinning out of control. There's a whole tunnel hidden in the wall, and he's falling down the rocky chute!

Konstantin, attempting the same trick, finds that his blade is definitely not sharp enough to pierce the rock wall, despite mustering a much better shape to try and take a stab at it. However, luck and his changing direction inadvertently leads him to the same place as Citrine. His blade reflects off the lip of the tunnel as he starts tumbling in head-first.

Eventually, they're spit out, bruised and battered. They land on some sort of glowing moss. All around them, the area radiates a certain kind of... deep warmth. What do they do now?

>>5679562
With his ability to see in the dark, Sable just barely misses seeing Citrine and Konstantin falling into a well-disguised hole in the wall. It's holes all the way down, it seems!

The moss is fluffy, if a bit on the dry side. Wherever they might be, it is definitely warm. The air seems to carry a sort of sharp aroma of heat and steel. In fact, as their eyesight adjusts, it's not completely dark either. The room they find themselves in has a mellow orange hue. It's still fairly dark, but not cripplingly so. With their light sources, Konstantin and Citrine can see that there's some plant growth down here, which is the strangest thing. Obscured by more mossy growth, there seems to be shifting lights further within.

>>5679581
Sableye manages to shift away from his target. As he loops back up again, he keeps his eyes and mind on track, aiming right for the hole his friends disappeared in! As his speed is much faster than what he's used to experiencing, Sableye bumps into the side before spinning out of control into the hole. Eventually, he is shot through the exit, throwing up a cloud of dust as he collides with the impact moss.

>>5679589
Sableye still seems a bit shaken up from his fall, and it seems his vision is coming up with doubles. However, considering there's not much path out here, and there's only one way forward, the best idea might just to follow the others.

>>5679590
>>5679596
Konstantin raises the sword and begins cutting the moss apart to clear the way. As the three now advance, the heat continues to grow in intensity. Soon enough, the very air feels heavy and oppressive with a crushing, choking, and smoldering heat that permeates throughout the entire area. Sweating doesn't seem to cut it, either. The orange hue blossoms into a fiery red as the moss reveals its colors of rust. Some vines snake along the walls, glowing with the imbued power of flames. It doesn't take long before you can see the rippling heat in the air as the final bend reveals a massive river of magma. There's no other ways around this whole place...

Stopping to make sure not to fall in, it's time to assess your surroundings. There are rock platforms gently riding the molten waves, occasionally splattered by hot gasses bubbling up and popping. Considering there's only one way they seem to be moving on, this might be your ride to that entrance. A keener eye might just tell you something lurks in the magma, too... or is it just your imagination?
>>

"Fucking hell." He mutters, looking at the magma river. He really doesn't like the idea of trying to ride one of those platforms, but given he has little other choice...

"How deep ARE we? This is an 'edge of the world' thing, I suppose, but still..."

"I'll try to avoid the platforms, I might be too heavy." Citrine instead looks at the walls, to see if there are any he could dig into and walk sideways across safely...
>>
>>5679610
Without much hesitation, Konstantin leaps onto the platforms! Almost immediately, he can feel that his paws are burning up on the surface of this rock. It's actually really uncomfortable. There's some moss growing on the rock, somehow, and it appears to be mostly unaffected by the heat.

>>5679615
Citrine takes a look around, mostly at the walls, to see if there's any other options for him. As he scans his surroundings, he manages to see that not all the platforms are as "inert" as one might be led to believe. An orange head peaks out from the magma, meandering peacefully through the molten rock as if it was a calming bath. On the walls themselves, Slugmas and Magcargos crawl around, nibbling on the rusty moss. There are ferals here...

>>5679612
Sable sees the same thing as the others, and Konstantin taking another risky jump onto the platforms. From his perspective, he can see the rock bob above the magma. Perilous, one might say.

Your choices:
>Ride the platforms down the river of fire!
>Maybe you could try to get a feral to help you out?
>>
Rolled 8 (1d20)

>>5679629

Gritting his teeth, Konstantin moves to stand upon the heat-resistant moss itself, to avoid burning his paws. He'd be useless if he crippled his ability to walk after all. He keeps a vigilant gaze on the magma about as his rock drifts along, not quite convinced something hostile isn't lurking under the surface.

Hey, Kon, your platform's bobbing, you oughta try jumping to another.

Hey friend, I'll give you this tasty moss if you carry me across the river. Deal?
>>
Rolled 20 (1d20)

>>5679629
Citrine crosses to the nearest wall and places a foot on it, attempting to see if he can dig in and start his horizontal climb. He'll have to deal with the ferals on the wall, but it's certainly the more stable option for a 'mon of his size...
>>
>>5679632
As Konstantin takes a position on the moss, he feels something shift on the platform, nearly destabilizing him. As he keeps his balance, that definitely couldn't have been him... the hissing and popping of the bubbles is distracting, but the idea that a feral had purposefully bumped his platform weighs heavily in his thoughts. He continues to float down.

>>5679635
Sableye manages to attract a completely different feral. A Torkoal attempts to chomp down on Sable's entire hand in an attempt to get at the moss.

>>5679644
Citrine places a foot on the walls, but the heat forces him to back off. There's no way to use them as some sort of way to move on the magma river. The angle of which the cavern curves doesn't leave much option for him to safely dig in, much less climb. The platforms or a feral ride seem to be the only way through.
>>
Rolled 11 (1d20)

>>5679653

Okay, I'll take you instead. You wanna carry me across the river, buddy? How about it? I'll give you lots of tasty moss!
>Sable gently pets and feeds the Torkoal, attempting to befriend it.
>>
Rolled 15 (1d20)

>>5679653
Discouraged, Citrine uses the Air Balloon for a long leap onto a platform, hoping his weight is lessened by the item. He intends to make another long jump to a different platform and so on, both to catch up and make sure his weight isn't on the platforms for too long, lessened as it may be.
>>
>>5679655
Konstantin can see that the magma parts at the surface as a segmented body briefly reveals itself. Whatever creature that was, it's clear that something is trying to harass him on his platform! Suddenly, it breaches the magma, appearing in the center of a popping gas bubble.

A jet of flames launches from the fiery cross on the bug's face!

>>5679656
Sableye manages to temporarily befriend the Torkoal. With the moss acting as a bait, he's achieved a lava-capable Lapras to ride on the way. Certainly better than a simple platform, that's for sure. The seating is a bit... steamy.

As they go down the magma river, the appearance of a Centiskorch attacking Konstantin causes the Torkoal to panic!

>>5679662
Citrine takes a big jump, floating on over to the platform. It bobs with the introduction of himself to the platform, but for the most part, it remains floating. It looks good to keep him afloat for now. While they're much further away, there's no mistaking a Flamethrower attempting to engulf a Lopunny.

The group is pretty spread out.

This causes the rest of its body, once hidden under the magma, to suddenly arch up and force its weight against Kon's platform, causing it to bounce up and send the bunny flying!

Time seems to slow down for Konstantin as he analyzes what to do!

Citrine and Sable quickly move to support their friend. A blast from the Power Gem shatters some nearby rock into the magma, allowing Konstantin to temporarily land and bounce off of them. In an instant, those rocks join the molten depths, as Sable and his Torkoal friend act as another temporary platform. With one final push, he manages to stumble onto Citrine's platform.

The sweat nearly evaporates off his face as his heart drums in his ears. Konstantin has managed to survive the sudden attack. The Centiskorch has backed off for now, not showing any more signs of its presence.

As everyone breathes a sigh of relief, they float down to where a bridge has been erected over the magma river, almost intentionally designed to be a stopping point for anyone riding a platform.
>>

With the group now on the bridge (and the Torkoal hanging around), the group look around. This area seems like a much more civilized place, considering how the walls are chiseled, if a little overgrown with the fiery plants taking over. Within viewing distance of the bridge is a flat panel. It's a stone material of some kind, polished to the point where it retains a glassy sheen, taking a gleaming appearance from the magma river.

Approaching it reveals the same diamond-shaped statue that was near the other entrance to the strange world. Well... you've found it now.

Konstantin decides to look over the area for anything else of note. Something about his instincts cry for him to treat the statue with caution and leave it be for now...

>Interact with the diamond-shaped statue.

Citrine comes closer to the thing but doesn't touch it, lacking any hands to do so gently. "You two want to do anything with this, touch it or something?"
>>
>>5679702
If only to find out what it's made of, yes. What extraordinary craftsmanship...
>>
>>5679699
>>5679702
While any actual design on the statue itself is non-existant, the stonework of the statue is immaculate and methodical. Great care has been placed into making the stand and the diamond rock that rests on it. It's precise to the point you'd be convinced the whole thing was a single piece, had you not seen the other one activated. You're not sure what kind of rock they chose to make this out of, but it reminds you of marble touched with void. There's something ethereal about these stones.

With two of you in proximity, the diamond begins to radiate a faint pink-purple glow.

>>5679701
He notices that beneath the overgrown moss, the magma looks like it feeds into the mirror-like stone, almost as if it were geometric veins drawing blood for an artificial heart. Removing more moss reveals even more of these veins, pulsing with the power of the molten earth.

Close enough now, the diamond pulses with life, filling the room with its strange and otherworldly glow. You hear the magma boiling and shuddering as more bubbles than before pop and fizz. You notice the platforms suddenly stop and some even reverse direction. There's not much else to do but watch as ancient magic or technology moves the stones to form a solid path. As they come together, you realize the platforms were all designed to fit together.

Looks like you opened the path.

+300EXP, +500P

Mission complete!
>>
Following the path opened up by the scouting group, you enter the sweltering hot depths of the inner chamber. As a group, you arrive and form up at the mirror-like obelisk before stepping through. The experience, while just as disorienting as the first with light distorting at a speed which you're certain you shouldn't be able to correctly perceive, is not immediately debilitating. Uncomfortable and dizzying, but you've built up some kind of resistance to it by now. If "getting used to it" was anything to assure you, at least.

As the impression of blinding light leaves your peripheral view, you take stock of the situation. Like the Primaordial Sea, this place is just as strange and alien. Great pink roots snake across the sky, binding the world-sized interior into an interconnected web of glowing veins. Some of these roots break away from the formation and reach out toward the middle, forming a maze-like set of lines, each of them confusingly intersecting and bending as they seek the core. As you finally get over the sea of information bombarding you, a wash of realization falls over you as you note that what you're standing on is moving.

With the pulsating veins covering what would be sky, your senses finally caught up, it seems. Looking down, you note several platforms are linked together lengthwise, hovering in a "forward" motion, following the flow of the roots. Almost as if it was a train on rails. Further inspection reveals that they look very similar to the stoneship from Temporal Tower...

Sneasel laughs, taking a seat on the edge of the perilous transport. "Hehe... try not to fall off. Who knows where, hah, you'll end up?"

How are you in this heat, Charles? I think I have some water if you need it.

"Haha. You could." Sneasel swings her legs up to avoid them smacking against an errant root. "But I, heh, wouldn't."

>>5684777
The roots greatly resemble plants in shape, but as you look closer, that idea begins to break down fairly quickly. There are glittering crystals compressed into the brimstone, all of which carry the pulsating energy as it rapidly crosses by. It moves quickly enough that it gives the impression of a glow from far away.

He tumbles around, watching the platforms race away from him.

>>5684825
While the appearance is generally uniform, he quickly notices movement that isn't the glowing roots. Squinting, he can make out that there are other platforms, all of which are empty, each of them moving in different orientations and directions... except one.

A group of about six creatures are riding another set of train platforms. If you tune out the noise of the strange world, it looks as if they aren't moving... so relative to you... that must mean they're on a similar course.

As the group is alerted to the existence of another, unaffiliated party doing something in this mysterious realm, you each take your own attempts at trying to scope out the unknown.

While Stern's sense of smell is impressive compared to the others here, the scents aren't traveling far enough between the bubbles for him to gain anything useful. He does note the air smells of lightning and lavender. Charles and Sableye have a better opportunity at identifying the strangers. The arching roots generally obscure any finer details, but you can determine they must be adventurers of some kind. You're not sure of their affiliation. There are six of them. Two you can immediately identify are a Charizard and Rhyperior.

Your choices:
>Try and shoot them from here! Everyone here is hostile!
>Identify what path their train platform is taking...

Charles seems to get dizzy over trying to keep up with the platform and the roots that it could be taking. He can't tell much as it all blends unhelpfully together. Sable has better luck and determines that in a couple of minutes, they'll be side-by-side if they keep to their path. Stern determines much the same, but as Sable was focusing intently on what the other train platform might be going, the Emboar has a different perspective. Their root rail branches left and right, with the left one leading up above and the right twisting down...

>>5684903
>>5684912
As Theo poses the question to Vee, he watches as the gear in the center of the leading platform is shifted to the right. It makes a grinding stone click as it locks into place. With a jolting motion, the group's platforms flick to follow the path of the right root. As the two different train platforms near their original convergence point, you all manage to slip directly underneath the other set of platforms.

They are now directly above you, and you hold the element of surprise.

"...reports noted that presence aside from ours was found in the other location. Someone already tampered with the ruins before we got to it."

"It must be the mysterious group working against us. Troublesome and worrisome. How goes in uncovering the final location?"

"Difficult. The dungeons popping up made traversing across the continent a lot longer than it should be. We are narrowing it down." Another voice joins in.

"How are they even getting to these places before us?"

"No clue... they might have someone helping them."

"They definitely do. Don't doubt that."

"Did we get here before them, then?"

"We won't know until we reach the center, but so far, I think so."

"Just looking for something... but looks like we've got new plans now!" Drapion clicks his pincers threateningly.

Almost immediately, they begin taking defensive positions. The Charizard growls out. "Mutual goal? It's them!"

Walrein scoffs, shaking her head. "Do you think we're just going to divulge that kind of sensitive information? To a bunch of outlaws? You must be dreaming!"

"Have I seen them somewhere before?" Rhyperior asks himself.

Kaku doesn't quite sound intimidating or suave enough to meaningfully influence the Federation agents.

Obstagoon narrows his eyes at Kaku as he gives a subtle gesture for Meinshao to box the Grimmsnarl in. "Not quite impressing anyone with that one, mate. Should be you with his hands up in the air, far as I'm concerned!"

Astor does a little turn to catch the falling Eevee, which isn't too big a deal considering he's a fairly light and small Pokémon. There is a moment where Vee feels his heart skip a beat as his overconfidence nearly causes him to slide off of Astor's back, but he's managed a solid enough grip to remain steady.

Drapion and Meinshao also stop what they're doing, looking shocked. "That's... what can the chances be?" Meinshao murmurs, completely taken for a loop.

Charizard looks back and then to Sableye. "Law-abiding 'mons wouldn't associate with thieves and robbers! There's a lot we can get you on just for that!"

Left out, Walrein just shakes her head. "As far as I know, we're the ones going to be doing the saving. So why don't you criminals just step down? It'll make this easier..." Under her breath, she whispers, "...but don't... that will make it just as fun."

Theodore manages to wrap his claws around the root, careful not to puncture it. Regardless, contacting the root with a move makes his spine feel like it had been dipped in liquid electricity. He spins and launches himself back up to grip onto the rushing platform. Kaku takes the opportunity to use the Bewear as his anchor, barely managing to secure himself. With a jolt, he's dragged along, just in time to miss being zapped by the pulse of energy running along the root.

They've managed to get back to the fight.

Charizard, originally fired up, finds that his body can no longer take the abuse. Like a flipped switch, he stops flapping his wings as he comes hurtling down onto the guild's platform, crashing and skidding unceremoniously. He's fainted again!

Astor has some fairly good vibes as he regains a bit more lucidity from nearly being pushed to the brink.

Walrein actually has to pause as she thinks about the poor little Eevee. "W-What?" She looks conflicted and stops her assault. "L-Listen, whoever you are, you shouldn't be here. I expect you to surrender... alright?" She cautiously approaches to detain him.

FEDERATION TURN 5

Rhyperior watches Charizard go down and winces in pain. He finishes up with the Goodra, knocking him down to the floor. Turning to notice the returning combatants, he lobs rubble at Theo.
>Rhyperior used Rock Blast on Theodore for 182 damage!

The Federation forces are crumbling like a cookie, and Drapion snips at Astor again. By sheer luck, a rapid turn in the stone platform causes him to miss his poison attack. "W-What the!?"

LHG TURN 6

Sneasel giggles. "Hehe. Keep them on their toes, we're home stretch now."

"Oh, okay..!" He remains still as he lies on the ground, breathing deeply. If he wasn't playing the part of a poor, innocent kit caught in over his head, he'd be smiling. Even if he does get 'detained,' that's more time his friends have with less heat on their back- or in this case, less ice.

"This is really tough, but..." He takes a moment to breathe and squirm a little, uncomfortable after getting hit. "My siblings are gonna be so proud when I tell 'em about it." The Federation agents are in a sorry state, but so is the guild. Somehow, they managed to overcome this battle. Walrein shakes her head. "The situation has deteriorated... yeah, dammit. Mission's off, we retreat!"

Rhyperior grunts, sacrificing some footing as he taps his badge. Drapion and Walrein follow, touching their badges. With multiple flashes of light, the Federation flees the scene!

The last location that needs to be searched before everything is acquired... and you're the final group tasked with that effort!

Your target is quite obvious to see, even from where you are now. It's been some days since you took a hike just to get here, and even above the clouds, there's some peculiar weather around these parts. Considering the world of Pokémon has never been one to shy away from revealing its eccentricities, it's not too surprising to see even more clouds above the clouds. You can see blinding whips of light cracking down around the location's summit. Somehow, now, you just need to make your way across to it.

Still, it's a breathtaking sight and a bit chilly up in these heights.

Taking a hesitant step on the clouds, you almost feel your entire leg plunge right through. For a second, you do feel as if it was a great mistake as your entire body tips forward... but some strange, puffy force stops you, crashing face-first into something impossibly soft. A sense of confusion and relief washes over you. At the very least, you're not falling to a spectacular demise.

You can walk across the clouds, although it might be a little awkward for Vee since his general height doesn't let him see very far (or anything at all). Everything looks like thick fog to him.

Your choices:
>Cross the clouds now that they're walkable.

Charles is certain he can hear some sort of wing beats from somewhere, although it's not obvious as to what or where it might exactly be originating from. There might be some sort of Flying-type in the sky nearby. Or the wind. It could be the wind.

>>5690113
Bind pops his umbrella open and holds it up. Almost immediately, his arm is jerked forward, and now he's fighting against the wind to stay on the cloud-ground. If he doesn't close it, he will probably get swept away like an inelegant Mary Poppins.

Bind has some very rudimentary controls for his maybe-flight. It's unruly and unpredictable, but for the most part, it does allow him to go higher. And at this height, he can see that there are multiple shapes approaching from a distance. They must be birds of some species that he can't identify. Also, he can't tell if they are coming closer or going away.

He can see that the clouds ahead are dotted with holes and empty spaces. With his higher-than-sky-view, he can probably help those down below with their choices.

As they move forward, they start sinking further and further, until the clouds in front of them part abruptly. If Charles had taken one more step, he might've just taken the express route down to the ground. Maybe it might be helpful to ask the person up above for some guidance!

Bind gives the group his questionable observations. Considering that Bind is basically floating in the air at the whims of the wind and there's only soft concealment in the area, the best cover they can find is one to obscure their position.

>Tell the others what path to take

Charles and Vee's choices:

The environment is a little turbulent (ha!) for Bind to get a good read on what secret power might do up here.

Bind directs a secret power straight down over any holes he can find in the terrain. How specifically it manifests, is anyone's guess...

"Be careful! I need to see if I can..." Vee looks up at Bind. "...What's going on up there, now?"
>>
Rolled 3 + 2 (1d20 + 2)

"Not particularly! Just trekking with some friends!...Nice weather, huh?" You guys're an exploration team?"

He tries to flash Vee and Charles a thumbs up, but it's pretty hard to make out between the distance and fluff in his hand. When he notices Charles going for it, he salutes the Toucannon and closes the umbrella, diving for Charles. "Feelfreetohelpseeyaaaaa!"
>>
>>5690210
Charles' overzealous work on throwing more and more onto the clouds is significantly changing their composition... until they're no longer clouds! Like gelatin collapsing when held up on both ends, the goo clouds crack and peel away.

>>5690221
Bind closes his umbrella and falls down to Charles' level. His accuracy is impeccable. However, his task queuing skills might not be up to snuff, as whatever he was planning to do causes him to simply collide with the Goodra, sending both of them sprawling out across the clouds. It's not subtle and it's very obvious.

The three birds flutter down to investigate.

"I don't... huh?" Toucannon says, cocking their head to the side.

Swanna shakes their head. "You know how non-fliers are when they go above the clouds. They go loopy or something because there's no ground around them. We're due to meet up soon, let's go."

Fearow is laughing at the predicament. "That's a... hahah! That's a real funny one. Nearly knocked me out of the sky..." Swanna gives the Fearow a nudge. "Okay, okay. We'll be late. Fine."

The three explorers depart, heading toward the ominous lightning-capped mountain.
>>
>>5690225
"Are you both okay? What can I do to help, and, not have you fall?"

Vee gives a passing glance at the unhelpful birds.

Wait a minute.

He keeps a note of them for later.

"Is it performance anxiety? Every time we meet explorers...owowow...Let's pick up the pace. If there're explorers here, they might complicate things."
Bind shadowboxes with fists and ears in Close Combat, hoping to stir enough air to blow away the mist while leaving the densest clouds to walk through.

Vee keeps a watchful eye to look for spots his friends might trip over. If they fall, this trip'll last a lot longer.
>>
>>5690230
>>5690241
Up in the clouds, sound doesn't propagate as cleanly as one would hope and everything just sounds like... clouds. As far as his hearing is concerned, there is no such thing as a "solid cloud."

>>5690241
Bind starts punching a bunch of clouds. For a boxing tool, they're pretty great at absorbing the impact! But... he doesn't really succeed in making anything other than some dents in the clouds.

>>5690250
Vee can see that the path ahead has been fairly devestated by the group's combined actions. However, as a little bit of sunshine beams onto the area, he can see that there is a thin strip of cloud platform connecting the two areas. Perilous and dubious, but certainly something to use!

Charles and Bind's choices:
>Cross the thin cloud strip across.
>Maybe you can pull some clouds apart and make a moving platform with the umbrella?
>>
>>5690254
"There's a small part.. but be careful. You need to be ABSOLUTELY sure you can cross..."
>>
>>5690254
>>5690255
"Ah, thank you Vee!"

"What do you say Bind? Shall we make our way across?"
>>
Rolled 13 + 2 (1d20 + 2)

He nods. "It's now or never. Maybe some dew could thicken this path. Umm, it won't help directly, but maybe this'll calm your mind..." He hands Charles the substitute. It's very squeezable.
Bind...
>Crosses the thin cloud strip
with agility. The fewer steps you take, the fewer chances to misstep, no?

"Goodness. As fast as ever."
>Charles looks down at the substitute and gives it a soft squeeze, feeling emboldened!

"All right, I can do this..."
>Charles applies goo to hid hands and feet and begins clambering along the thin cloud path, holding on tight!
> +2 Goo
>>
>>5690262
Bind's expertise in acrobatics and flexible movement allows him to quickly cross the thin cloud strip, dancing across without much problem.

>>5690266
Charles, being a much larger Pokemon, experiences considerable trouble with trying to make it through. His goo reacts strangely with the clouds. Instead of being sticky, they instead produce a slippery texture that makes it much more difficult to walk! He can feel himself continually fighting gravity to keep himself upright.
>>
Rolled 14 + 2 (1d20 + 2)

>>5690269
"Uh-oh."
"Uh, guys? I could use a hand!"

>Charles tries to alter the goo on the go for a better grip as he continues to make his way across the gap!
>>
Rolled 18 (1d20)

"If there was ever a time for it..." Bind takes out his normal gem before flipping it into the air. He catches it as he calls out, "Secret...Power!!"
The gem glitters as it boosts the strength of his call. If the goo is mixed into the clouds again, he should be able to draw out that draconic aura again...
>>
>>5690273
Charles manages to keep himself steady enough to make the short trip. There's not really much to altering the goo, considering it doesn't react too well to the clouds.

Now that the group has managed to cross the clouds, they're now standing near the mountain. The two with fur and hair can feel it standing up as the area is filled with static.

>>5690279
Bind notices that there are some gooey clouds still left behind. Not wanting to let such an environmental boon go to waste, he summons up a massive burst of dragon aura beneath him. It solidifies into a cloudy Altaria, pushing the group up the mountain. Nearing the summit, it suddenly throws the group away, and they land in a flat section with strange, sharp rock pillars. Moments later, the dragon-aura Altaria explodes as lightning blasts it back into nothing.

You're all now on the mountain, looking down a pass in the mountain. There are overhangs and shallow caves on the sides, however, the most striking appearance are sharp rock pillars. They seem to glitter with some kind of metal. Suddenly, there's an ear-shattering bang!

Vision white and hearing ringing, you can see the pillar is smoldering as it dances with residual lightning. Are these... natural lightning rods? It seems you'll need to make it past these, too...
>>
>>5690285
"Amazing light show Bind!"
>Charles claps

>Then BANG
"OW! What was that?"
>>
>>5690285
"Be careful. Those birds were-" he flinches at the loud noise. He continues. "...Federation agents, just like last time. They won't fall for my trick a second time if I get brought to their base of operations again."

Vee switches his Yellow Thief's Bandana for a Blue Scarf.
>>
>>5690288
"Remind me why we're on the bad side of the Feds?"
Again?"
>>
>>5690290
"They're trying to stop us, they're on the look for a few of us. You've already seen the posters."
>>
>>5690296
"I realize. I meant, in our current mission."
"We have really got to fix our reputation..."
>>
Rolled 2 (1d20)

"Whew, was that what it's like to use a dragon move?" Nope! "Maybe I should look into ways to change my type. What a rush..."
He smacks his face, clearing his mind. "Okay, let's see here, is this whole place metal?...Cool!"

Bind makes a second substitute, only to toss it onto one of the pillars' peaks. Substitute is nothing if not an insulator.

"Also, it's mostly by Wigglytuff's grace we're allowed to operate the way we do. We're still not an official guild, so if Federation Agents hang around enough to find out we take job requests, it'll get messy again."
>>
Rolled 12 (1d20)

>>5690285
"Well, ever forward."
>Charles walks calmly into the field of super conductors, utilizing his type's natural resistance to electricity
>>
>>5690298
"It's not a reputation issue, it's a matter of who's being lied to."

>>5690299
"Good thing they usually come to us, and we're not out looking for trouble."
>>
>>5690299
"Hehe heh, you let me know when you figure that out! I'd love to be resistant to fairy types."

"Let's hope they don't then. I'd prefer to reduce the amount of trouble we're in"
>>
>>5690299
Bind's Substitute immediately vanishes in a puff of smoke as lightning hits it the second it lands on the pillar.

>>5690300
Charles can feel his gooey outer layer dancing with electricity, however, nothing really jumps out at him. He can feel himself buzzing with even more static, giving a sensation of miniature needles in the air. Also, the air seems to vaguely taste of metal...
>Dive, dive, dive!

Rolled 3 + 6 (1d20 + 6)

"Well. Well! Hmph! I'll just have to time this right..." He makes one more substitute before taking on a sprinter's pose. Bind's Pinch bangle glows in contrast to the bolts of lightning, shaped like an arrow just so happening to pointing forward.
He dashes and jumps for the furthest pillar he can, planting his substitute and kicking off just as he's about to land on the electrical hazrd
>>
>>5690307
Charles manages to hit the deck fast enough, right at the moment the metallic pillar next to him suddenly is struck by a bolt of lightning, showering his area with sparks and branching electricity.

Realizing he's managed to avoid the worst of it, Charles scrambles to the end and out of the lightning's reach.

>>5690311
Bind spools up and launches another Substitute. With the last pillar in his sights, the Lopunny practically takes off like a rocket, racing against time and a bolt of nature's wrath. Holding onto his doll, he throws it to reach the pillar before he does. The world moves at a snail's pace as he watches his own heart race against the sluggish trajectory of the Substitute. For a brief second, it almost looks as if he's going to be there before his protection, but...!

It's vaporized in his stead. Bind safely rolls onto the pillar (his fur puffing out from the static build-up) and out of the dangerous pass, entering the spot where the mountain closes back up.

>With the two of you in the tunnel...

Standing in the narrow passage, as your adrenaline subsides, there is an unnatural and ethereal purple glow dancing on the walls. What exactly is down this tiny hall?
>>
>>5690324
"...That actually worked? Wow! I'm not sure I can top that..."

Vee calls out to Bind. "Hey! Could you show me Agility again, or are you too tired?"
>>
He rolls off the pillar.

"I did it! All skill!"
He hopes there was enough lightning to obfuscate the truth.

>>5690325
"Merde..." He uses the move one more time, quick stepping in place.

>>5690307
How're you holding up, Charles? It looked like you just took alla that on the chin, from where I was..."
>>

>Charles pats him on the back

"You've become pretty handy with that substitute!"

>>

Vee used Agility!

Once he's feeling speedy, he darts off and leaps past the lightning rods with incredible speed!

"You were the coolest out of us three on this mission, no denying it!"

Vee's little pitter-patter picks up great speed as he zigzags along the natural formations, attempting to keep ahead of the lightning that dares to smite any that opposes it. He can feel his fuzzy body gradually pick up more and more static as he goes, slowing down his movement. But can he push forward?
>One last dash, it's right there!
>No, I've got to stop and get the static off!

Rolled 7 (1d20)

Cheating metagaming tells Bind he should turn around and be ready to catch something.
>>
>>5690355
With the refresh, he manages to gain just enough speed to avoid being between two pillars that take a pronged blast of lightning! With sparks and small bits of super-heated metal in his wake, he skids to a stop between the two.

>>5690357
Bind manages to catch a speeding Eevee, although he does fall down as the brown blur smacks into his side.

As a group, they can now move to investigate the end of the passage. It narrows further, forcing them into an awkward single-file shimmy, but eventually, it opens up to the tip of the mountain.

At first a moment of confusion strikes you. Did you go to the wrong place? Where's the strange artifacts or ruins? It's just the top of an (admittedly beautiful) mountain.

Wait. Where's the lightning...?
