Morning had come, and the roar of rumors and chatter had come through the School. The blazing sun rose high in the sky as if the Lord himself looked down upon the mayhem in order to pass his own judgement. Though that was only the thoughts of the religious and doomsayers, as the students themselves were heavily into their own cliches.

“By the Lord, Erica surely have heard what happened to my the Whore my Cousin was with right?”

“I have heard a lot of hoopla and stuff like they were performing satanic rituals.” The other said while jestering with her hand, “But what really happened?”

“Fufufu, glad you asked.” Maria watched as the girl made a fantastic motion with few hands in celebration, “Well it seems they were caught fucking like rabbits outside town late last night. The guards even imprisoned them because of how hedonist the sight they were in was.”

“W-what is going to happen to them?” Elizabeth, who had been quite up till the moment asked.

“Well, rumor has it that they are going to expel both of them!” Tiffany announced, “Though many are saying the Church won’t do it, as the man is the Prince of Holand. If they excommunicate such a large mass of land there is the chance the King declares is not longer the Lord’s Land.”

Elizabeth gave a look of complete surprise while Erica quickly snatched her fellows attention, “So where are they now? Has the Headmaster thrown them into the dungeons and thrown away the keys yet?”

“Oh how I wish that was the case.” she lamented before giving a subtle laugh, “The fools have at last been locked away in their rooms.”

“Tame, but I would not expect less.” Maria announced with a stern call to her voice, “The boy is just being excommunicated, not held as a Prisoner of War.”

“That… makes sense.” Elizabeth said while resuming back to her tea.

“Well did you hear anything, Maria?” Erica asked with a sharpened pair of eyes to herself, “Surely you know something more about this entire mess.”

We gotta act impartial to this, last thing we want to do is be painted as being super interested in the whole affair. Ford's 100% suspicious or us, and Lucien is probably going to be following in his footsteps.

You can't win a fight by just defending. Ford and Lucien already hate us. All this bending over for them will only weaken our position in the end.

At some point we need to actually pull through with something, because I can almost guarantee that if we go and try to cozy up. Lucien and Ford will also look up at that with suspicion and we will again be in the position to decide to back off or do something our enemies don't like.

That damn bird is a problem. I think it's the alchemist in disguise (or a familiar of some sort )and he's manipulating Chloe into whatever bizarre experiment/goal it is he has.
A bird that basically the glows in the fucking dark like that is way too visible to survive natural selection nor would it be awake at night. That is why I said (or a familiar), but Valor has to observe his experiments somehow and since we didn't remember ever actually seeing him before he had to be using some sort of alternate method to spy on us. Chloe is (possibly) his grand experiment, so there also has to be a method for him to observe her in an era without video camera. This scheme is a long time coming anon. We already offered the Second Prince a spot in it and the Knights have agreed. An excommunicated prince will make it that much easier. I agree that Bon is actually Maria's biggest concern. We really should have pulled him out after the incident with Ford and more importantly get him away from Chloe'd reach. So long as he is with their group that puts him in orbit of Chloe...and it would be catastrophic if Chloe takes an interest in him. Even father stated he was concerned about how well Bon would take to his position so much so he even wrote about it to Maria.

I feel kinda sorry for Albert to be honest. I mean from the moment he saw what Maria did with recruiting the very bandits who intended to rob, rape, and kill them. He knew EXACTLY what he was getting into from then on. In fact, Maria offers Albert another avenue for his ambitions As he revealed when talking about his family which reveals why he is okay with going along with Maria's schemes which surprisingly he is capable of stomaching. Albert's biggest mistakes are two-fold. Having a surprisingly strong stomach and having a weak spine. His strong stomach ensured that Maria would deign to keep him around. The only thing that could have saved him is Chloe who would have made him question what he was doing and develop a spine.

Even Bon is better off because Maria coddles him and keeps what she is doing secret behind his back. So when you get down to it Maria has no need to kill Albert because he is will soon be just as damned as she is. While Bon has a scary ass sister watching over him and paving the way.

“Well I was the one who found them.” Maria said with a scoff into the wind.

“Really?!” Erica almost screamed with her eyes shining with excitement, “So what happened?”

“While I will say only what I saw and heard, they were way too loud in my opinion.” Maria called out with a clicking of her tongue, “I was having a nice picnic with Albert when we heard them having their fun. Honestly they ruined our atmosphere immensely with that little sin of theirs.”

Maria took a sip of her cup before continuing, everyone’s attention upon her, “When I figured out who the people having their way were, I simply called out to the guard to stop them from committing such sinful ways.”

“Really, I wished there was more to it than that…” Erica said with a whimper along with Stacy.

“You are… going out with Alber Giovanna?” Elizabeth asked ignoring the other two.

“Oh, I forgot to tell you three. Sorry about that.” Maria admitted with a simple smile upon her face.

“YOU FORGOT TO TELL US?! Of course Maria would get a boyfriend first!” Lamented Erica while slamming her head into the table.

“I thought you were going out with the Second Prince.” Stacy said with her face giving a soft blush.

“I am so happy for you!” Elizabeth said with a slightly sorrowful smile upon her face.

“Thank you Elizabeth.” Maria answered the one before giving a short laugh, “And for you other two, asking would surely yield better results.”


“Hrmm…” Stace exclaimed while Erica was simply laying herself upon the table. Maria could not help but laugh again, if nothing else than at the silliness these two fools. However the time for their lamentations were coming to an end, and soon enough classes came.

Of course Maria blazzed through the Military class, though her hearing was not full of the lecture but the dozens upon dozens of hush voices that were talking up a storm. Maria did not mind it, since she was already a near master in Military affairs so there was no reason for her to pay much attention.

Soon enough it was her Class on the Lord’s Faith, which Maria really did enjoy a lot. However as she walked into the class, the first thing she realized was the absence of Chloe. Such a thing, well, Maria was not too sure what to think of it.

Honestly, it was slightly worrying.

However Albert was there, looking over towards Maria before quickly looking away with a small blush upon his face. In her honest opinion, it was kinda cute seeing him like this.

Maria felt a little blush to herself before firing back with her own words, “Simple flattery like that I get every day. You will need to perform better.”

“I guess you are right. I will try my best to attain standard set by the Lord above.”

Maria had to admit, she did not expect the man to be catching up so fast. Though as those words came out of their mouths the Professor came into the room with a worn look upon his face. Maria chalk that up to the stress everyone was experiencing due to the recent scandal.

The class was quite light weighted though, as it seems they have yet to decide what to preach and research from here onwards. If they were to double down on the Absedence message, than turning on their heels with a ruling that the damned couple are allowed to stay would be a double standard.

Such an action would result in the school becoming quite the unstable affair.

However with that class ended, leaving Maria to think about what to do next.

It is time to decide our next move.

With classes over Maria gave a small wave to Albert before making her way from the class room and to the armory. Within about half an hour Maria had gathered her gear and once again made her journey towards the nearby town as a Vagrant Knight dressed head to toe in armor. With only another moment to spare Maria began her travels towards the town on foot.

The simple fact that Chloe was not in class today was quite the worrying endevor. In her honest opinion Maria was worried about what she would discover. Surely this was something close to a plot a Heroine like Chloe would solve. However there was one positive thing she had against the other girl.

The rumors had already started, and Maria made her role only as a bothered bystander.

It was within about twenty minutes that Maria landed outside the gates, and within another ten she had traveled her way towards the restaurant. The streets were not terribly busy, as with it being a weekday most were working. Trade of course occurred, but it was drastically less than when the weekends rolled around.

With that observation over with, Maria made her way behind the place in which all her schemes revolve. With a rhythmic knocking on the door, it was opened to reveal the old man from days ago.

The man had a smile upon his face until seeing the helm that Maria wore, “Oh, it’s you.”

“Indeed it is, may I come in.”

“Tsk, fuck it come on.” He made a wave of the hand before shutting the door behind Maria, “So what is it you need? I did as you asked and I heard what happened to those kids.”

“Better that way than any other, as that action probably saved a few thousand men.” Maria admitted while tapping the countertop, “By chance has a girl come here asking questions today? Golden Blond Hair, with a bird that always rests near her.”

“Yeah she was here last night and three before that. Though I haven't seen the lass today if that is what you are asking.”

“Is that so…” It seems that the Heroine has yet to backtrack the previous night, though that did not mean she never would. Indeed that was highly probable and should be prepared for. Also, the way this man is acting he might spill information out due to Chloe’s charm.

There's no way our bandits aren't using the place. We can probably go in, brief a bandit to get multiple men to take the armor our piece by piece, take the secret brothel exit (tell me there's a brothel that doesn't have an emergency exit) and then leave the rest to the bandits. Or even get the brothel in on smuggling the armor out. Get ourselves in a box and have our own bandits ship us out.

Without even a moment to think Maria’s feet began to walk, the soft steps of steel on dirt in her ear as the eyes stayed on her the entire time. There was no folly or second guessing on the place Maria would go, as surely the two would never follow her there.

With the streets getting only a little bit more populated, they were easy to navigate without being swept away. Though in her honest opinion Maria would have had them flowing with people, because it meant her pursuers would always have sight of her.

Well it seemed that Maria did not have much time left, but they had finally arrived where she wanted to end up. While the town was fairly rich and the slums would reflect that, it did not mean they were nonexistent. And sure enough with the building suddenly getting quite shorter it was evident that she found them.

“He’s going… into the slums?” the young man's voice said while Maria confidently strode through the now darken streets.

“Well come on, we might lose him!”

However with the slums being so small Maria was easily able to find her destination before anything else. Her eyes snapped to a couple who were simply standing outside a door, both having eyes searching the street. So with confidence in her step, Maria walked up to them.

How's this for a plan?

I was tempted to go to the second prince to report the chance to catch a scandal right away and throw off scent if that damn bird followed the cart, but I don't think the second prince has any dresses for us to change into lying around, and it reveals some of our skills we want to keep secret.

I was thinking a federally funded mail service/CIA.
It's about time we expand their duties and I think the fact that going to a bar and listening to what's going on is legitimate spywork can sell them on the idea of getting PAID to drink as part of the job.

The ride over was slightly bumpy, that much Maria would admit was an oversight in her opinion. Being a little taller than the average girl did not help, as Maria was very nicely crammed in the box. However when the vehicle stopped Maria waited with baited breath to see what would happen.

“Alright, what are you bringing in today Jimmy?” what Maria assumed was a gate guard spoke while stepping around their cart.

“Just a package for Albert Giovanna and others. Dunno whats in it though, you know, since I don’t the stuff.”

“For the Steward’s Son? I guess it makes sense his family would send him something like this. Alright then, you are clear to go.”

And with that the cart began to move once again, things going along quite fast as Maria sat patiently to be delivered to her destination. They stopped, after which Jimmy gave a few orders before him and what felt to be two over men lifting Maria.

“Hold it steady now, I need to knock on this door.” There was a soft rhythm coming from outside, “Hey Albert, was it? I got a nice package for you, one I am dying to get off my hands.”

The door swung open, “Package? But I was not given forewarning about one.”

“Fore warning, well heres the warning. ‘Someone important has sent you a package, and would like you move before our arms shatter under her weight’.”

“A-alright come in then!”

And like that Maria felt the last few movements before she was settled on the ground, “Alright, there you have it. Have a nice day sir, if you would excuse us.” And with a slam the door was shut behind them.

“What in the name of the Lord?” Albert seemed to mutter while walking about for a moment. Soon though, the sounds of a metal rod came to Maria’s ears as her box shook for a moment, “Well, let’s see what it is.”

There was soon a pop out from the top, to which Maria simply threw the rest of it off to reveal herself. The expression on Albert’s face was quite the silly one. Of course, that was because Maria, dressed as a man, emerged from the box with a good amount of style. Quickly throwing off the hat that was holding in her hair and giving a devilish smirk.

“Fufufu, never thought you’d get a girl in the mail, did you Albert? Well I guess you can count today as your lucky day.”

The two stared at eachother for a moment, Maria in her confidence while Albert was now on his ass in shock.

And within only a moment of Maria saying those words there was a small knocking on the door. Albert gave Maria one astonished look, before opening the door to reveal a maid carrying a modestly sized box in her hands.

“Mistress, oh, is that you?”

“Yes it is, the disguise was needed.” Maria said while walking over and taking the box out of her hands before looking through it, “Though you choose a good means to transport it I will admit.”

“Now where to change?” Maria looked over at a blushing Albert who has a silly blush about himself, “Is there a closet I can use?”

In reply she got a steady nod while pointing towards what was a closet. Quickly opening it, Maria saw a few piles of boxes but ignored them as she closed the door and quickly got her things together.

It did not take long, but Maria emerged with a simple dress, her makeup more or less cleaned up by using the old clothing as rags. Albert barely looked over in hesitation as Maria emerged from the closet.

I think we should politely suggest that Chloe receive tutoring on noble etiquette and ethics. She seems to be having a hard time adapting to or at least understanding the whys of noble behavior. (noblesse oblige) She's been shooting herself in the foot with accidental rudeness and given the real possibility of her being a future queen, grudges that could rip apart the country during a time the miaphate grows stronger could break the ability of the holy nations to resist. We are not suitable for the job of course. We simply do not get along so she would never take our words to heart, but one clever enough to instill the required teachings that harmonize with her personality would be ideal.
Basically we end up forcing her into detention while also having a small chance at making her into a more agreeable person AND locking her down for several extra hours a day until it's drilled into her skull how she managed to make the entire student body hate her.I'm sure it'll backfire later but getting her detention for her own good seems fun.
And then the news of the brothel comes in to make the headmaster double down on getting her an ethics instructor since he already had the suggestion planted by us.
I think we might be too giddy at what we've done to meet with Bon. He might accidentally blab while being a siscon about how bubbly we were today when we meet. I want deranged paranoia from Ford, not suspicion based on actual things no matter how slim the "clue" is.

I feel like it's also time for the misc factions to start acting soon. Two major events (us picking a side thanks to going to war with Ford, and he brothel scandal) have just happened to completely shock them. We need to improve or add redundancies to the spy networks/etc before the adults move in or start hiring assassins.

However much Maria probably should confront the Headmaster about the situation the two fools committed, she needed to check on someone else first. Her brother, someone who she had not seen in quite a while in her honest opinion. To what the man was up to, maybe even the Lord would not know.

So with that in mind Maria walked the halls, though she honestly did not want to come anywhere near the First Prince’s study. Instead she opted to go towards the men’s dorms. Normally this would be seen as scandalous, but Maria made sure many saw her nearing the door to her brother’s room.

Arriving there Maria gave the door a few knocks, “Brother are you in?”

“... Maria?” There was a small scramble of books and such as the door opened to reveal a slightly disheveled Bon, “Sister! I did not expect you to come by. I should get a few things cleaned up!”

The door was quickly shut, the sounds of stuff being moved around coming to Maria’s ears. Soon after however the door was opened, revealing a room that honestly should have been in much better quality.

Strung about the place was a few dozen dishes, along with pieces of paper tossed about. However the floor was clean sans the paper, and atleast the bed was kept pretty well. In Maria’s honest opinion, it looked as if he was living in the place for a little bit. Maybe nearing a week at most.

Quickly enough however Maria’s brother brought a chair to his bed, soon sitting upon it while motioning to the chair, “Sorry about the mess, I, uh, have not had enough time to keep things clean.”

“Oh, thank you…” Maria slowly inched her way through the place as if it was hostile territory. It was honestly kinda jarring to see this place get so bad, but then again Bon did not get a maid or butler.

Maria had a feeling the dishes were from some maids and chefs who her brother befriended.

Her brother however was looking at her with his same cheerful smile, so Maria could not resist but sit herself upon the chair. There was a small welt in her stomach, seeing things like this.

I think grabbing a maid to help would be most in character, but I dunno how sensitive the info we're about to speak with Bon is gonna end up being. But at the same time we're probably too concerned with Bon to care about scheming or cleaning.

“One who has more incommon with a Roach than a Dragon or Man.” However in the end Maria could not be angry at the man for long, doubly so when he looks so defeated, “Say it now, Bon, so that I don’t need to worry about you.”

“I, uh, had a little bit of a falling out with Ford and the Prince the other day.” He answered with a false smile upon his lips, “You can say things were not really working out.”

Maria made a motion with her hands, beckoning her brother in blood to continue. Though one could not truly underestimate how much of a boil Maria’s blood was starting to become.

“If I had to be honest, things were going pretty well at the start of the week. The Prince seemed to have been raised from the dead, becoming something more akin to a, well, person.” Bon gave a slight laugh until shaking his head, “But after a few days, well, that girl you warned me about showed up.”

“Of course it would be… Continue Brother.”

“Well you see, Ford was not saying the most kindest of things about you Sister. I thought I would put in a correction, and we got into a slight debate about the ethics of things. After that, well everything kinda just dropped from there.”

“Did they harm you, in any way?”

Bon looked over to a Maria who seemed to be at her boiling point before shaking his head, “No, it was simply a difference in opinion. A few days after our argument I did not really feel welcomed there anymore.”

The timelines at least matched up, as that was when lines were finally drawn and war was declared. In her honest opinion, it was a good thing that Bon was not drawn to their side. If nothing else that she can still talk to him for the moment.

Though in the end she was the cause of this, her ambition and hatred being the causes. However, things could have been so much worse.

But on a serious note. He tried the "I like you, feel free to fuck my sister" thing with the first prince.
The next time our character gets real downtime (Chloe has really kept us on the defensive constantly and cut into time we could be expanding, improving, or modernizing things) I think we gotta map out some advancements we plan on making overall. Take our own advice to Chloe about needing to delegate responsibility.

Eg. Invent microscope/telescope. Tutor some disciple/scientists or promisingly bright peasants/knights from our realm who will be loyal on germ theory while pretending it's knowledge we stole/hid from the Caliphate or stumbled upon. Let them research on their own after we gave them enough hints. The improved hygiene practices,possible finding of penicillin,and improved medicine from our modern lessons (Japanese would know how blood types work for sure when that was a mystery that confounded scientists for centuries) to them alone will dramatically decrease soldier deaths to create a long term advantage in warfare.(Dr Elise had an absolutely insane mortality rate drop as a reference)
It also stops women from dying in childbirth like our mother did because doctors used to be retarded enough to inspect cadavers by hand, then go right into delivering babies without any cleanup.
Stack enough of these advancements and we can be too valuable for anyone to think of expelling or killing.

Nothing against the man, though, as he tried his best to both administer the realm and care for his children.

With a pull Maria was able to bring up upon his feet. Her contagious and confident smile seemed to be creeping upon him, which was quite the joy to see. Now then…

“Bon, I must ask but did you have any other friends besides those fools?” She asked with a hint of caution in her voice.

“Well, uh… no.” He said flatly before thinking for another moment, “Well scratch that, there was a maid who came over and was helping me out.”

“Do you know her name?”

“I… don’t actually. She never gave it, and was simply showing up here and there to help me out.” He admitted while scratching his cheek, “I asked her why, but she simply said it was her duty.”

Maria gave a sigh, as such a situation was not the best. If there were some other friends he had off to the side, he probably would have transplanted himself off to them instead. However, now was not the time to be sad about that. She needed to make sure her brother did not sink back into despair once again!!

He mostly had the same education as us before the kidnapping. Even if we unnaturally took to it faster, he's still going to have some skill in intrigue/etc, he constantly had to fill in work for the prince himself(so he probably has far more skill/insight in administration than is required for a tiny little country like ours). Bon is perfectly capable. Really , the fact that those idiots chased him out like that was incredibly stupid due to the sheer amount of information he basically left with. I mean really, Bon had his fingers dipped in so deep that for other groups him being made to leave would put him in assassination territory to protect national secrets.

We don't need to baby Bon. Help him out like a proper sibling? Sure. But he doesn't need coddling. Two siblings working separately will undoubtedly also make us even more unpredictable as a whole. Enemies won't just have to defeat our factions, they will have to defeat the Bon faction too.

I feel like Bon is a bonus DLC character that acts like a stereotypically noble knightley noble. Sorta a Richard the Lionheart (as told in legends like Robin Hood instead of what he was like in history) without having gotten the confidence to pull it off yet? He isn't too severe and off the deep end like Ford. He's willing to battle to protect others or his family. He has the ambition to be a fair ruler enough to protect his people and those around him. He did waste all those years trying to get the first prince to move his ass for a rescue mission. Knowing what we now know about Ford, it's no surprise that it never happened. Mr Pacifist would have only gone for options that get his own people killed and nobody was dumb enough to do that suicide mission. In the end it shows that Bon does not abandon people. Overall he's the sort of king/Lord the local people would look up to for letting them sleep soundly at night.

I'm sure there are nobles unscrupulous enough. Ford may be a paranoid shit, but he's right about nobles being more than willing to murder. That brings up a problem I just realized a minute or so ago but didn't bring up since we are too in the dark about factions and how vicious they currently are.
If we personally get deemed to be a major threat by the first prince faction, they can assassinate our father to force us home to govern the territory (or anything we are obligated to do before returning if a regent is appointed until we graduate)
It's incredibly easy to take us off the board at a crucial time like that since our reputation makes us the clear choice for next in line. Father needs to get rid of that beer gut asap and get to fighting strength to spank any would be assasins to death.

Waltz's parents also had pretty damn suspicious deaths.I think he was meant to just be a puppet as well since he always goes along with whatever the most convenient thing was for himself. He can be easy to manipulate if something is phrased as being convenient for himself but I think he's also been getting too savvy and capable of just dumping baggage by the wayside.

You forgot our spy that's been tailing Chloe. I'm a little worried that she got caught now that it turns out the bird is a real threat to surveillance. That could actually be a decent reason for why they suddenly went ultra hostile (instead of them being dumbasses) despite our plausible deniability now that I think of it. I think tonight and tomorrow(ingame) are gonna have us busy trying to get intel before the brothel bomb gets dropped and covers anything else up we might learn.
