Uhm? You call 13:00 late lunch? I always thought that was the perfect time for lunch, honestly... but I guess it depends on where you live and at which time the sun comes up or down.

I traveled to Punta Arenas, a stone throw from the antartic, and I didint know it was 10PM until I checked the clock.

Anyway, so lunch and cuddling Stella, or would you prefer some PDF-worthy fun? Im more in the mood for just implying lewd things happen and moving the plot along right now, though.

Shouldnt we just station (a) Lyann there?

***

We follow Stella to her room, and have lunch taken to us while we give her a quick bath to get the ant smell off her. Of course, with lots of caressing, smooching and kissing on the way.

Lyann rolls the food cart in, and has us, Aritsu and Stella sit on pillows around a center table as she places the dishes unto it.

"I think it will be fine to have everyone sit in Alquian style." -she says
"Hmm... I feel like I should help you." - comments Aritsu
"This one is Master's official slave now." - our redhead comments quite happily
"...I'm happy for you." - the elfie gives up with a smile

Stella sits in a lotus posture, so we gently chide her, reminding her to sit more like a proper lady.

"Uuuh... but its just us right now."

We enjoy lunch together, from time to time asking about the girls' opinion on the local dishes, and making a mental note of the things they enjoy.

After a while, we clean Stella's lips with a handkerchief, and give her a little kiss, then do the same for Aritsu before pushing

We're going to be coming back to visit Stella frequently because of the constant cycling in and out of grinding that we're going to be doing for the next few days, so we should spread our love out to our fiancees who aren't as lucky.

After thinking about it for a while, I don't think Kya knows how to dance in a exotic dancer/entertainer sense. Remember that in Hêven, ceremonies, science and art are left to the succubi, so while she probably knows how to dance at official balls, I seriously doubt she knows how to dance in the manner you thought of.

...but after thinking about it for a biiit longer, maybe she should explain that herself, and thus we get her dancing lessons with Lyann after this?
***

"Lyann, if you are not going to sit with us, I'd love to see you dance." - we suggest - "It has been almost 5 years since the last time you danced to entertain."
"I was learning from miss Ellie back then!" - she is struck by nostalgia - "It was when your lord uncle showed up."

Right, uncle Dan was fresh off the battlefield, and grandpa had asked him to look out for us, dad's family, in case of Alquian spies.

Hn. Uncle Dan was as subtle as a camel, but he did his job well. He's even a good uncle.

"Ehhh~" - complains Stella softly - "I wanna try that too."
"I'd be happy to teach you." - says our beloved redhead
"If you are giving lessons." - we add - "I think this princess could use some, as well."

We call out Kya, who appears standing by our side as we sit by the table. We caress her hips and leg gently, then explain that she'll be learning how to dance, now.

"Yes, Master!" - she says with a bright smile
"Good girl."
"Should I try that, too?" - asks Aritsu
"No, I have other things in mind for you."
"Muh?"
"Yes, like this... and this..."

We push her down with kisses while the girls dance by the side.

"Ah!" - cries our platinum blonde as we kiss her ears and hug her from behind, our child throbbing inside her as her body trembles and tenses at the same time - "A-ah..!"
"Hmm... Aritsu is so tasty." - we say after nibbling on her ear's tip for a little bit
"Ah.. p-presid- n-no, Master, please, no more... I think I am going to melt...!"
"That's alright. I'll lick you all up if you melt."
"Nuuuh..." - she whimpers in happy despair

"Ma~" - complains Stella from where she is sitting close by - "Big brother really likes teasing girls and making them squirm..."

It's been a few hours since lunch, I guess its about time we stop 'tormenting' our beautiful elven bride, and...

We had planned for a Manor in the Alquian Frontier, as that's swampland.
The idea is to use our Jungle Faeries (after they've been leveled up, and maybe Ranked Up to higher sapiency levels) to spread more colonies. This would help the people by cutting down on bugs (which are a type of Monster) and spreading our anti-[ERROR] surveillance network.
>>

Well we cant level them up by combat without breaking the exp chain, so for now we'll need to write down edicts and decrees to move people there, and get the funds for a new/better settlement first.

I was thinking that we would level up the Jungle Faeries over the next week, and otherwise have them work in the Alquian Finance Office so that they can get an understanding of how bigger nations that can't rely on pheromone control of their subjects have other methods, and learn economic policies and bureaucracy.

I was thinking that we would build our Manor and the first Jungle Faery hive near an already existing settlement, instead of making a new one.

After taking our elven princess and making a mess of her over the lenght of three wonderful hours, we finally let her rest, wash and dress her before taking her with us again.

"Big brother, take care." - says Stella as we give her a kiss
"You too."

She nods nods, and holds hands with (a) Lyann as we leave.

The [Treestride] sends us straight to the palace gardens, and we make our way to the ministry of finances, to find (a) Lyann already waiting for us there.

We give each of our fiancées a kiss, ask one to brew some tea and the other to get some good chairs by the desk, and go to archives ourselves to dig out everything we can find about the five different settlements in the eastern region.

As it turns out, the previous Grand Vizir had begun plans to officially withdraw all alquian forces from the provinces, on account of all five of them being composed of jackal beastkin with 'clearly different traditions and heritage', and having proved quite unable, since the death of the last alquian empress, of tolerating one another.

One tribe is quite proud of their sand-colored hair (on females) and fur (on males), while another is quite proud of their matte black coloration, and another feels that the previous two tribes must have committed some ancestral sin, for which the deities have punished them with coloration that is not the pure gold that they themselves have, and the last two tribes are arguing about the meaning of a passage in their holy book, while also occasionally setting their differences aside to attack the first three tribes, who all happen to have different religious believes from their own...

In other words, a melting pot of tribal violence.

Economically, each settlement is important for similar but very distinct reasons. In short, their each produce different kinds of specialized goods, in geographical order:

North most Tribe - Perfume and scented oils
Second Tribe - Pepper and other condiments
Third Tribe - (Spider) Silk rolls and Exotic Woods
Fourth Tribe - Hand-made, high quality paper
Fifth Tribe - Exotic Meats

Honestly, while these are all valuable luxury goods, each tribe depends on trade for most of their basic supplies.

>Let's just pretend we didnt see them, restart the previous vizir's plans, and kick them the fuck out of the empire. Tribal/ethnic war? Not even once, thanks. We can make a new settlement with otterkin for all we care

First, we'll try telling them that the Empress Mako wants them to stop fighting. Try to get them to send diplomats to us to hash out some kind of settlement.

Secretly, I'm prepared to use ultra-leveled Jungle Faeries that will make any raiding parties from each side disappear; capturing them and then using our Isolation Pods to turn the jackalkin into Monsters and becoming the Pets of the Faerie Beastmasters.
>>
>>4029745
That sounds hilarious, considering that Mako and Ren tend to auto-tame beastkin, but it probably would need Mako to go over there and hit their leaders on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper while saying "no! bad boy!"

We read the records of the region's peacekeeping troops with mixed feelings.

When an empire says "peacekeeping troops", it quite often means "occupation forces." But in this case, it seems to have been a legitimate claim.

Since the death of the last empress, the tribes began fighting among themselves almost on a monthly basis, and the troops needed fresh reinforcements and supplies on a bi-weekly basis. According to reports, it doesn't matters if they are surrounded, outpositioned and outnumbered, the jackals will charge, and that includes not just their women and children, but also their tamed monsters, all the way down to their poultry.

In the one hand, it's the first time we hear about someone actually keeping farm animals, but in the same words we are reminded that they are, indeed, monsters.

The empress used to visit annually in a festival/market for the entire region, but without her pacifying influence, the tribes went right back to their monster-like behavior. In fact, at the rate they are destroying each other's settlements, there is a rather big chance that they will eventually revert into marauding monster packs.

>Re-assemble the peacekeeping corps and send them in, en masse
>Announce the new empress and the return of the annual market. Set a date for the new market. As soon as possible, so they can interact with Mako ASAP.

We will make them meet with Mako, get them to work together here, and start to work together for the annual market when they go back home.

We are in the capital. Lower left corner of the map, the black hex with two white gryphons.

We're going to the region with the red dot on it, to the far right.

We could send a ship with a tree in a pot, then [Treestride] to that tree. It should take a little over 3 weeks to get there.

There's no rockitship route going there just yet, so we can't just take a passenger or merchant ship, though if we pacify the region, it would make sense to get a route set up since it exports valuable resources.

Our personal rockitship is in Bastion right now, remember? And thats a LONG way away.

I guess we could requisition an alquian rockitship patrol boat and crew? Or maybe use the surviving battleship with the diesel engine that Sykia helped build. Battleship Diplomacy, truly an upgrade on Gunboat Diplomacy.

I assume we're not interested in going by land, which would be a months-long trip at caravan speed?

Ah, yes. I am amused when friends mention isekai as if it was a new things, and not just an old thing now becoming popular. Gulliver, a man of a notorious travelling persuasion, and Alice, a young lady known to visit rather wondrous lands, would like a word about that.

Oh, I just had a thought. If we are going to FFWD a week while we read and update civilian procedures, shouldnt we also take the chance to send a tree in a pot to the eastern frontier? I think that would be a good idea, too.

We spend a week in Alquia, much to Mako's delight, reading and updating the rulebook, such as it is, with the help of various local expert lawmen and bureaucrats.

Unlike a few weeks ago, we don't need to actually head to the frontier ourselves. As minister, it is easy to arrange for a small, simple looking tree to be sent there so we can [Treestride] to it at will later.

Thanks to Lyann, we can keep updated of progress in Eopolis, Albion, Mantequira or Bastion as things require, and so it is quite relaxing to lie back and rest our feet for a while.

We get to watch Mako reading (and then replying to) small towers of letters sent to her by young citizens, all of whom are quite excited about receiving the empress' replies.

Of course, most parents are convinced that said replies must, for some reason, be of the standard persuasion and, at best, simply signed by the young empress before being sent away.

"Eldric..." - said empress cooes as we crawl over her insistently to kiss behind her left ear - "We are busy, why don't you love Dawn for a bit?"

>"Alright." - we give her a little smooch, then grab Dawn in our arms, and without letting her out of her pajamas, carry her to the bath
>"But I want to cuddle my Mako now." - kiss her until she gives up, then cuddle with her in a rather naughty way until her sleep time comes

The following day in time for lunch, we have finally flipped the counter cover in the updated book, and find that with the arrival of the trade ships from Mantequira and Hêven, the Alguian civilization's 'passive bonus' has come back online, increasing tax revenue by 2% per active trade route, and science output by a matching amount.

Well, Alquia is a nation geared towards commerce, after all. As the fans of 4x games know it, the term would be "geared for an economic or science victory",

Should we point out that a 4% extra revenue on tax means an extra 1.1 million gold is entering the imperial coffers, seemingly out of nowhere, on a monthly basis?

Indeed, it seems our beautiful empress' arsenal of sensual persuasion is far deadlier than we had thought, and makes our own look like a slingshot next to a ballista-to-the-head...

And thus, a long conversation between the sheets was later turned into a proposal that was eventually made into law. Taxes went up slightly, but perhaps because of the Alquian empire's tax-related passive, it did not affect the good will of the people in any negative manner, and it was this very same will, of those very same people, which would do naught but grow as hospitals and clinics began popping up over the country in years to come.

Our initial plan was to get the leaders to come to Mako so that she could scold them into stop fighting.
And if that didn't work, have Mako go out there to scold the people directly into behaving.
And if THAT doesn't work, then we enslave them all except for the youngest children and completely erase their culture, because obviously they cannot learn to live with each other without killing each other.

As we emerge in the eastern city of Anbul (or the rather large town, if you want to be more accurate), we find the sunlight and moisture in the aur to be in direct competition with one another with a mood as to leave little space for actual air, and it takes us a moment before our lungs admit that yes indeed, this is air and we are not underwater.

Under the surface of a boiling soup, it feels like.

The Straight of Shallows is, as a matter of fact, a massive curve, and quite deep as well, which brings into question the competency of whichever cartographer it was who named it, and as it also happens to be a region of sea with enough treacherous rocks, whirlpools and reeds to cause enough shipwrecks to make shipwrecking in the remains of a shipwrecking into a very distinct possibility, the local merchants have, in fact, been most fond of land routes for as long as their history (recorded or unrecorded) would suggest.

The straight, however, makes not so much a suggestion in favor of land routes as an ultimatum, really.

Apropos, this is why the arrival of the rockitship has all of the local merchants quite excited, albeit the fact that it still needs to 'land' in water is somewhat of a point against them, in their view.

A rather interesting view, considering that they have a very deep and beautiful port.

As for the city itself, it is quite a colorful place.

Indeed, even from the deck of the rockitship, we can see that the harbor's stones are pale pink, red, and green, with white being conspicuously absent.

The stevedores themselves are indeed also a colorful lot. Nearly all of them are naked from the waist up, and wearing wide hats, two facts that even as we look at them, seem extremely sensible in the local heat. Also, despite them being apparently human, most of them seem to have a clear and distinct red tint on their skin, such as may be expected from lobsters, or office clerks on the beach after spending years behind a desk with barely enough sun exposure to remember what the word 'sun' means.

"Nice place." - comments Dawn as she looks at the colorful, half naked men in the docks
"I can see the water surface under the ship, so why are we still underwater?" - asks Aritsu as she wiggles her ears somewhat desperately

Yup. I've always wondered if some translation groups have no editors. I used to work with someone translating Thermae Romae, and my edits were extremely careful, thorough and detailed. Im way too blind nowadays for that, but back then I basically checked every word and term. I see this level of translation and go "wtf?"

Apropos of heat sensation, I wonder if a de-humidifier would help with the thermic sensation? I've never seen one but IIRC, the humidity in the air makes it hard to sweat, which is why we feel so hot and suffocated in hot HUMID places

Oh and I mentioned Aritsu, but who else, if anyone, do you want to bring along? back in 20 minutes, gonna go buy some fresh bread for a snack
>>

Yes, a dehumidifier would make it much easier to deal with the heat. It’s why the “a dry heat” is used to refer to a high temperature that is still bearable.

Bring along Lyann, of course. And our pets: Empusas, the shark, Tanis and Spelth’Gagaron, Miel II and the Jungle Faeries, Crema and Moccha (who used to live in a tropical region), and the two White Mantises.
The animal Pets should be brought out for socializing to increase their Rank.

Also, are the new Pets in the Menagerie or working with the Harpies in Mantequira? If they’re in the Menagerie, they should come out as well.
The dragons can sample some of the local ores, while the Empusas and others sample local delicacies.

Hey King, you okay?

As we head out of the docks (Lyann has everyone's luggage in her [Item Box]), we see that the city does indeed have a very exotic feeling.

There is, of course, an arabian-like vibe to the architecture, but it is also heavily adapted to the local geography and resources. There are numerous columns in front of the better-off buildings, most of them from the white-and-pink stone, giving a very relaxing mood despite how busy the streets are.

Fashion seems to tend towards either long and flowing robes that cover and protect one's skin from the powerful sunlight, or very light, in the tone of just pants or a light, short dress, with all sorts of styles coming in different fabrics.

As such, it is possible to find young ladies in light, short dresses (albeit necks and shoulders are always covered with negligée-like details) made from silk and other high-quality fabrics, as well as simple and rough (but clean) robes of braided (and dyed) hemp.

Well, it seems to be mostly an age-related fasion, with older gentlemen wearing long and flowing robes over their pants, and by noticing that there's no older ladies wearing the lighter clothes, it is easy to deduce that such frilly and showy clothes are the domain of the younger ladies.

The main street is cobbled, but the side roads are pressed dirr. All the same, there's deep trenches at the sides of every road.

Well, this place seems to be in the middle of a rain forest region, so it probably sees a lot of rain.

"Oh." - comments Aritsu as some people carrying a palanquin walk past at a good pace.

No horses? Well, they seem to be restricted to mostly the northern regions, though we don't see any of the insect-pulled carriages that are typical in Mantequira either.

I wonder if the local monsters are too hard to tame, or just not appropiate for work duty? The locals famously have farms, though...

I suppose it would be too much for Empusas riding a flying shark.

I want Kya, Dawn, Aritsu, and Lyann out, but I see the problem of a pile of girls in the Palanquin.
Okay, let's keep Dawn, Aritsu, and Lyann out, and Kya will have to stay in the Menagerie until we get to our destination.

We should consider an official 6-passenger palanquin/carriage that holds us and our secretaries.
>>
>>4051957
Uhm? We are bringing Dawn along too? I guess its fine since we left (a) Lyann with Mako so she won't be lonely.

***

Dawn and Lyann have a bit of an issue about who'd get into the palanquin last...

"No, no, miss Dawn is a cute and well-trained maid. Obviously, Master's slave is last. No, beyond that, why should the slave ride in her master's palanquin to begin with? Isn't it fine if this slave walked behind it?" - Lyann
"Mu~ If you are Master's personal slave, shouldn't you stay by his side? Obviously, you are Master's important treasure, while a maid is a maid. Everyone understands the maid gets in last..."

The reason for the arguing is, beyond the social order and the common sense of nobles, because Aritsu sat in front of us, following proper etiquette.

Following that order, the next person to get up should sit next to the Master's lady, which means that the spot next to us will be the last available one.

"Ehehe~" - our sbtrawberry maid sits down while chuckling to herself

Our lovely slave is making a pouty face.
Well, she's lovely when she pouts, too.

There's a short and sudden sensation of weight as the bearers pick up the palanquin and secure it on their shoulders, then one of them asks us for where to take us, and we ask him to take us to a good inn.

"Hmm... certainly, having people carry you its much more reassuring than relying on tamed beasts." - Aritsu seems interested in the palanquin
"I feel kind of bad about having people do the work of beasts, though." - Lyann
"From their point of view, wouldn't beasts steal their jobs, though?" - Dawn

Our horny strawberry maid is holding our arm tightly against her (currently) discreet bossom with both hands, looking quite happy as her tail wraps around our waist.

Soon enough, one of the men carrying the palanquin let us know that we are outside the inn. Pulling the curtain and looking at it, it looks like a fairly good place.

There's a lot more beastkin in this area, all of them with clear brown hair or fur, and they seem quite relaxed and friendly.

Someone is selling local food treats in a small plaza right next to the inn. Even though this is a small border city, there are fountains and beautiful plazas. It looks like a very nice place.

Hey King, does Lyann or any of the other girls have Shadow training?
Or the kind of Jobs that would help in information gathering, either by being charming and seductive, or by being sneaky and invisible?

I know we raised levels and got them lots of Jobs, but I don't know how much we developed Aritsu and Dawn. Lyann is specialized as a Dancer and Thief, if I remember right.
>>
>>4052114
Yes, Lyann has the whole Dancer and Singer job trees, plus the Thief tree. Actually we never bothered much with it in-camera, so to speak, but she can steal pretty much anything, including stats. That's because I based a lot of jobs and stuff off the disgaea games, and the thief has horrible stats, but the ability to rob a little bit of a target's stats, permanently, so it technically has inifnite growth potential if you train it well.

And yes, she has shadow levels, but thats just about martial arts and stealth, there's no "whore" or "seductress job". Well, she was a slave for a few years and she has no illusions about what people want from girls, so if you want her to go down to the hall to flirt and get info, she or Dawn would probably be the best choices as they are both familiar with how people treat you and act around you when they think you are helpless and don't matter.

Dawn goes for the rich folks, and because she got that time with us in the palanquin.
I was about to also send Lyann, but then remembered that she doesn’t like that time of her life. So it’s probably for the best that we don’t make her do it.

Though it does leave a position of low-class whore info gatherer.
Maybe buy a Slave who is already that kind of slave, give them a five year contract, and then have hem power-leveled so that they get high Dancer, Singer, Thief, Assassin Job levels and the stats to match, to be our gutter runners?

She could talk with an off-duty soldier, a carpenter, a cobbler, a tanner, etc, and get info from them in casual conversation while drinking with them without actually going to bed with them. Pretty much this:

From the bellhop, we hear that while the city is still peaceful for now, being a default neutral area, the tribes avoid working in the same place or even talking to each other while in town, and it is all-too-common to find evidence of fights outside of town.

There are rumours about the northmost tribe trading spices and oils to other countries in exchange for weapons, and that only makes the other tribes more nervous. On the other side, the southern tribe is far enough (and on the opposite end of the region) that most traders are flowing to them when looking for the local products.

"Very well. Then, please excuse me." - says the beastkin as he closes the door

""Master, it was a chance for me t- !"" - both Dawn and Lyann raise an objection as soon as the beastkin leaves the room

They look at each other, and it seems they reach some sort of agreement as Dawn continues on her own.

"I could push the food cart into the kitchen as your maid, and fit right in, you know?" - she says with her hands on her hips - "Lyann, too."
"Can't you look for another way?"
"...alright."

"We could just send you on an errand later. Wouldn't that be fine?" - we ask after thinking about it for a bit
""..alright.""

"Done!" - While they are arguing about working for us, Aritsu has been busily unpacking our baggage and storing our things into the wardrobe and night table.
""Eeeeh!!?"" - our cute maid and lovely slave claim out together, and then switch targets towards our elfie secretary

They're getting along today too.

The local food is pretty good, though its buffs are rather low level. Well, the simple fact that it provides buffs at all shows that the hotel has a proper [cook] in the staff, so its a good place.

Once everyone is done with their meal, we have Lyann gather the leftovers into a shiny salat bowl, and leave them for Kya to enjoy.

"Ah." - she appears a few feet away - "How can I serve?"
"We're in the eastern edge of the Alquian empire. First, have a meal, and then I'd like to ask you some things."
"Yes!"

Our pet angel gets down on all four, and starts nibbling at her meal. Lyann placed her bowl towards a side of the door, so she's out of the way for transit, yet can double as watchdog on anyone going in or out of the room.

The sight of the sun-kissed blonde's sides as she eats with her left side against the wall is quite nice indeed. Her bossom is large enough it gets squished under her whenever she's on all four, and with her long hair pulled aside, her figure is beautifully displayed.

"Then, should we go out on a fetch job now?" - asks Dawn as she sits back down by our side

Going around undercover could be fun, but we have to think about the dignity of the office, no matter how much we want to play at being the main character of a Japanese period drama.
>>
Getting both the sanitized version and an unsanitized version of the situation in the region could be useful in highlighting what things the local governor is trying to hide, as well as showing problems with reporting practices.

Collecting and interpreting data is important, because without context and filtering, data is just noise. But if important information gets filtered out in the name of streamlining and ease of understanding, then that's just as bad as having no filters.

"Alright, I am counting on you two, now." - we kiss Dawn and Lyann, then rub the top of their heads a little bit
"P-please watch out for my horns, Master." - complains the strawberry-colored maid as she blushes red
"Hnn... to think that Master was so small and cute... I want to grow taller soon..." - Lyann
"Nope. I like my Lyann the way she is. Or rather, you are perfect, so stay like this forever, alright?"
"...!" - it is her turn to blush bright red

They excuse themselves, and leave the room together with Dawn pushing the foodcart.

Lyann is going to visit some local shops, while Dawn will go to the kitchen and impose herself on the staff there in our name.

In other words, she will sell to them the idea that we are a important person who is particular about his food. Its a common enough story, hopefully.

"What should we do in the meanwhile, president?" - Aritsu looks towards us as she waits for instructions

"Ah, yes!" - she rummages through her baggage and pulls out her notebook and a bar of graphite.

We haven't managed to make wooden pencils yet. Ironically, mechanical pencils are easier to make, given our workshop and contacts. Well, they've become fairly popular with merchants and nobles in Albion and Opal.

"Ah, Kya, are you done with lunch? Good girl." - we praise her while crouching by her side and caressing her at the base of her wings
"Ah... thank you, Maste~r" - she looks like a spoiled cat, lifting her wings and stretching them up until they push against the ceiling, and lowering her upper body a little more, causing her generous breasts to spill from the sides as they get squished under her.

We're trying to not be too conspicuous. Kya being a Pet would cause problems, not because she's a Pet, but because having such a unique and powerful Pet would stand out too much.
Having a beautiful elven secretary is already weird enough, not to mention our hair color standing out among the locals. The Jungle Faeries should be unique enough to go with our "rich and powerful foreign merchant".

We can't treat her like a fiancee; people can see that she's a pet.

No, I'll stick with leaving her to watch the room for now. She argued so much to be a pet, so she has to deal with the problems that come with being a pet. If we have to deal with the political fallout of making a princess of a friendly kingdom into our pet, then she has to deal with a half day of being cooped up in a room.

Dawn humms to herself as she pushes the food cart down the hallway and towards the kitchen.

As she comes across a hotel cleaning lady, she asks her about which stair she should use to go down with the cart. Indeed, there is no such thing as a service stairs, but there is instead a small service elevator to lift or lower dishes to the second and third floor.

The foodcarts remain in their respective floors unless they are in need of repairs, and are kept out of the way most of the time.

'That's a bit troublesome' - she thinks, since she wanted to roll into the kitchen behind the cart in order to start a conversation with the staff.

Just placing the empty dishes in the small service elevator and lowering them like that into the kitchen will somewhat dampen those plans.

'I guess I will try and explain that Master is picky about his food.'

Like that, she heads down into the kitchen after she's done sending the dishes down ahead of her, and announces herself politely as she goes in.

"Hello, please excuse my intrusion." - she opens the door gently and walks in.

As expected of a large inn, the kitchen is quite spacious. There are three stoves and two cooks. This may be too little when considering the restaurant in the first floor, but there are instead three large, long tables used for preparing dishes.

It seems the local cooking style implies doing most manipulation of the meals on the cold or raw ingredients, and then letting them into the ovens, grills or otherwise cooking them without further manipulating them.

'Ah, I feel like making a joke about honest cooks, but I wonder how could I set up the non-manipulating bit first?'

"Yes? Are you with one of the guests?" - one of the cooks looks at the young maid, wondering what she's there for
"Ah, indeed!" - she curtsies politely - "I am Dawn. My Master is a rather picky eater, so he wants me to prepare his meals when we are abroad."

Well, we haven't fought anything that can actually put up a dangerous fight in a while, and we're high enough level our attribute rolls can't fail even on a 1 most of the time. I don't think we've powerleveled Dawn, tho, so she can legitimately roll.

***

"Is that so?" - the cook seems unconvinced
"Of course, we are still paying for the ingredients, and I'd like to take the chance to exchange recipes."
"Oh! That sounds good. Which region are you from?"
"Sbastia. That is practically against the Ceta mountain range."
"That is quite a distance indeed." - says the cook - "Are you familiar enough with the local ingredients?"
"That is why, I'd appreciate any guidance." - she lowers her head and waits
"Hm. Alright then, come in. These are [Black Oyster]s, and these are..." - the cook starts teaching her about local ingredients

Meanwhile, Lyann is considering her own course of action...

It just hit me, but she's a person, not a pet. Shouldnt we treat her as a separate entity with the same basic abilities as us? What Im trying to say is, let's get her some pets and have her get exp the same way we do. We just need to copy the [Exp Chain] and give her a copy
>>
>>4055467
Oh, I forgot that we can copy magic items.
The only problem I see with using the EXP Chain is that most Pets need someone to give them orders, right? So whoever Dawn uses in her grinding group is going to have an incredibly boring job, unless they have lots of books to read.

Well, didn't you want to "punish" Kya?

Alternatively, I see no problem with doing just that. Grabbing a pet that likes reading, handing her a book and some constructs and saying "break a leg"

Heck, now that I think about it further, wouldnt a super low level dungeon (remember only chickens spawn on those dungeons 1st floors) work? It would be even safer since you can retreat at any time, and nearly all the chickens drop meat or eggs as loot.

Now, Im not sure if we would creash the chicken market, though...

Could we use a Devadasi to alter a Dungeon's floors so that only 1 type of monster appears per floor?
>>
>>4055488
>Could we use a Devadasi to alter a Dungeon's floors so that only 1 type of monster appears per floor?
Devadashi
Also, the type of monster or monsters that come out is randomly set. The reason the temples charge an arm and a leg for making a new foodgeon is because its a huge pain in the ass

1st - You need 4+ ]Devadashi, which is a "high level" job with lots of prerequisites
2nd - They need to dance and sing in an uninterrupted ceremony in each floor you want to have resetted, which means you also need a bunch of people tanking for them and making sure they don't take any damage for the duration of the ritual, which may need to be repeated many times even if they dont take any damage, until the desired type/s of monsters start spawning
3rd - this can go on for several days

So yes, we can, but its a huge pain in the ass of everyone involved.

Assuming they don't take any damage at all, we'd still need to roll in a random table many times until we get the type of monster we want.

Well, its RNG so I guess we COULD get lucky and get it right on the first ceremony but the chances of that are like 2%. More often than not, the ceremony ends with a "eeeeh, good enough" feel to it
>>

Would the XP gained from Chickens be better than XP gained from the soldier ant trash adds in the Boss Room? I think the ants only gave 1 XP, right?

If we sold the chicken meat, eggs, and feathers, we'd probably crash the market.
Maybe we can use them to help supplement the Free Food Dispensers since otherwise the nutrient paste is bland.
The orphanages could always use more food, I guess. And helping the poor.
>>
>>4055522
>Would the XP gained from Chickens be better than XP gained from the soldier ant trash adds in the Boss Room? I think the ants only gave 1 XP, right?

I'd say its about the same. But even if they are worth 1exp, one every thousand ants drops something and their level is high enough it can be a really good drop. The chickens are level 1, so there's no getting around the fact they just drop [Chicken Meat] and [Egg] x1

Well, at least they ALL drop meat or eggs, so we'd end with a small mountain of it

The redhead spots what she's looking for, or rather, whom she is looking for, standing by the corner of an alley leading to a tavern as she waits.

"Heya." - she greets the young woman - "Are you waiting for Mr Right?"
"Mr Right-Amount, yesh." -the woman grins - "What is it to you? Are you new? I don't mind sharing my corner, but you'll have to negotiate with the others if you want to become a regular in the area."
"Ah, actually, I was wondering how much you'd charge me for ... an hour or so?"
"Eh?"

Lyann explains that her master wants information and is willing to pay for it, so she'd like to invite her (she identifies herself as Sara) to eat something and have a talk.

Sara is a large silver coin girl, which means she charges 10 silver coins per customer. Lyann pays in advance, and offers a meal to top it off, so she has no issue in going with her into a tavern...

The strawberry maid is having quite a bit of fun trying out the local ingredients, while the local cooks are enjoying the talk and recipes.

To be honest, she already forgot what her real objective was.

Well, she'll remember later. Probably

***

"...so, the tribes are more aggressive the further north you go." - says Sara as she eats a roasted chicken leg
"I guess there must be a reason for that? Have you heard anything about it?"
"There's a new leader in the north most tribe. A really aggressive one. Its encroaching in the territory of the nearest tribe, which forces it to push into the territory of its own neighbor, which..."
"Yes, I get the picture"
"Plus they've never gotten along in the first place." - she shrugs
"So just removing that leader wouldn't fix the issue." - comments Lyann as she sips from a large beer mug
"It'd be a start, but its not like they'll be friends right away just because of that, you know?"
"I heard they've been fighting for ever." - nods Lyann, then lowers her drink
"Well, fighting as such, only in the last few years, I guess? But they've always been hostile."
"I see..."

"Ah!" - Dawn freezes, her tail and wings stretching up
"What is it, young miss?" - asks the chief cook
"I just remembered, I was supposed to ask about the region's safety!"
"Is that so? Well, I see. Let me think..."
"Hm hm." - she looks at the head chef and waits
"Well, as I understand it, there used to be just four tribes in the area, but now there's five. Apparently there was a breakout in the northmost tribe and the more violent members made their own tribe..."
"Hn hn." - Dawn nods nods, waitinf for him to cintinue
"They've been pushing into the souther tribes' territories. I think its an issue about living space, since they can't move into the swamp, of course."
"Hn hn."

We take our elven princess out for a walk, checking the pink and white buildings and streets. Despite how troublesome the region may be right now, it is part of the empire that used to be run by Mako's bloodline, and the architecture seem to reflect this, showing plenty of gentle, round curves with barely any hard edges or corners. There are gardens nearly everywhere, but in a tropical forest biome, that isn't much of an achievement.

Rather than trying to make things grow, the art lies in choosing what grows where, with many beastkin fussing about with the plants before it hits us:

The plants seem to need someone to manually pollinate them. There's no honey faeries here, after all.

"The trees are quite tall, aren't they? But, I see hardly any straight types. They all seem to be shade trees, with foliage growing towards the side, almost like umbrellas." - our official tree-hugger points out after a bit
"Well, these are gardens. I can imagine people would pick trees for beauty and convenience."

"That... isn't that a lot of work? I mean, there's many maids, but it will take them weeks to help every tree..."
"...no, no. That'd be the faeries job, you know?"
"Eh?"
"Eh?"

Could it be, fruit trees are normally pollinated by hand in this world? I'd like to retort at so many things, but to begin with, how did such a stupid thing happen? How did they evolve...?

No, hold on. Considering the gods seem to have just gone and directly created or spawned things as they are, I could see them just dropping a couple hundred people into the world, and some trees, and letting them figure it out themselves... I hope there was a help screen or something to tell them what to do.

We really need to talk with whomever is responsible for this type of thing.

But meanwhile, who'd guess we would actually, seriously have to give our elfie The Talk About the Bees and the Flowers, and be serious about it?

"Let's have a snack, and I will explain while we eat."
"Ah... alright?"

We buy some local hot pastry with ...ooh, they have cheese here! Hmm... knowing how things work in this world, it probably drops in a local dungeon, doesn't it? Well, come think about it, maybe we should try making cheese by ourselves now that we have plenty of milk sources of a dairy basis?

Anyway, we sit with our elfie and enjoy the treat by the edge of a viewing spot overlooking most of the town, then give her The Talk. Or rather, just a talk? I mean, there's no innuendo here, it really is about the bees and the flowers, after all...

"Oh!" - she finished her treat and was listening to us as we spoke

Of course, since we are talking and eating, we're eating much slower than she is.

"Well, I think it'd be interesting if they just use the [Fabricate] skill to make honey inside the hives..." - I mean, some people like the idea of coffee made with grains that went through the whole digestive track of monkeys and elephants, wine made with the assistance of young women's feet, and of course, honey back home was just a bee's puke, after all.

I am sure there would be a huge market in japan if we were to export honey made from the puke of cute faeries, though. Oh Japan, you rascal!

Based on Aritsu's slightly blue face, I think it'll be better for her mental health if the faeries do use [Fabricate], honestly.

"Ah... well, I am sure food output would stabilize a lot if we could depend on the faeries to do the pollinization in a reliable and timely manner..." - she says after adjusting her glasses for a bit.

Yup, she's so in touch with her inner administrator, isn't she?
