As you accept the offer to help Alberto Barbosa, your 150 men prepare to head off. In addition to those men, several caravans are sent off to help his forces. After days of travel being guided by Alberto, you finally reach a location along a river in the middle of the desert. It is green here, with plenty of water to drink. In addition, the soldiers meet some scaled men who call themselves drakes. They are from Heboranaz, and it appears that they use Human and Elven Auxilaries. Their army is quite large, however your supplies, especially those of weapons and armor seem to be quite helpful for arming the Auxiliaries, at least with better swords and armor. Your dwarves set up camp away from the drakes, Alberto believes it to be best, however he allows you to mingle and talk with the drakes if you so wish.

Freeroam action with the drakes of Heboranaz.

"The drakes tend to be reserved, and at times Xenophobic. As a result, I was unsure whether or not they'd get along well with dwarves, so I decided to be safe. It also helps with Organization, separating my army groups. You're mainly supplies, however you'll see action don't worry.

>>2567752
The drakes seem to enjoy your war stories. The only great beast that truly flew was a dragon, at least as far as they knew. However, they are intrigued at the idea of a great bird, and tell you that it would have been no match to the power of a dragon. However, they also enjoy your stories about bashing in trolls, and take some tips from you on how to kill a troll the best.

The next day, Alberto Barbosa ushers you forward, further north along the river

Advancing along the river, all seems to go well. Very few dare interfere with you, and those who do suffer a grim fate at the hands of the Drakes. Proceeding through the lands, we see ruins and some abandoned huts and farms... They were clearly either evacuated, or haven't been used in quite a while. Eventually, we pass by some towns and and hamlets, all of which contain dark skinned humans, while the humans of the drakes are quite a bit fairer, if only tanned, these humans are black. They were in chains, and have been freed by Alberto, who triumphantly declares, "My People! I have come to free you!" Those dark skinned join our army, and take up arms, the surplus we have left. However, the women and children stay in a safer location within the army. We haven't encountered much resistance, and any who stand in our way are crushed by the drakes.

After several days of marching, you finally reach a city by the river, with towering walls, and statues of beings you are uncertain of. There is plenty of housing around the city. There seems to be a massive gate in front of those towering walls, and we cannot truly peer inside. Alberto falls to his knees and kisses the ground, crying tears of joy. "Lakoranda... I've returned." He relishes the moment, however afterwards he stands up.

"Meet the city of Lakoranda friends! This is your primary target. It appears that there are trolls and dwarves here. They knew they could not challenge our army out in the open! An army of Ten-Thousand strong awaits to drive them out! The dwarven bandit clans are fierce fighters, but they do not match us in formation. As for the trolls, we have the numbers. We shall slaughter all of those who have resided in my city for so long. Rest today, tommorrow the battle begins."

The night passes by uneventfully, the drakes are ever-vigilant. What do we do now?

A resounding BOOM is heard! The drakes, elves, and humans were too haughty to listen to you, and left their ears open. Now they're complaining of their ears hurting. The cannon is fired and it crashes into the wall. It weakens it significantly, but it does not fall to the ground.
Alberto Chuckles at this news, "Good work my little friends, but it'll take a bit more to bring down those walls!."

Days and days of bombardment, by drake ballistas and the dwarven FYT slowly but surely brings the walls down. Two of the sections of wall have been fully collapsed, including the gate. The drakes smash into the enemy lines! It appears they were not fully prepared for us. The ferocity of the drakes cannot be matched by the trolls or the dwarves, with their inner fire growing with every bit of blood shed on either side. The humans and the Elves also fight valiantly, but none can match the drakes. The heaviest of their infantry look like killing machines. We see a drake archer with an odd-looking bow shooting colorful arrows into the crowd of enemies, the arrows when fired turn into fireballs. The battle continues to unfold as Alberto watches from a distance, content with what is occurring on the battlefield... He need not intervene yet.

While we are able to smash the first part of their lines, they fall back into the city. While we are able to free many people from what appear to be slave quarters and rid them of their shackles, the enemy is putting up a stubborn resistance! The bandits do not want to lose control of this city so easily.

Our advance forward is unstoppable! Pressing onward and onward the drakes plow through the streets, with their spears they are able to impale the trolls easily due to there being less of a height difference. Many trolls fall, and bandits continue to try and ambush us. We've fully pushed the enemy out of the slave quarters, and the dark-skinned slaves have fled to our camp with Alberto Barbosa. We start to press into the upper-class areas! We are nearing closer and closer to the Palace. Alberto watches closely, waiting to see what happens as his people behind him seem to be taking from the supplies we have given them.

We manage to make it through the gates of the palace! What follows is nothing short of a bloodbath. Alberto takes his revenge, very painfully. He slaughters the leaders of the 5 bandit clans, and enslaves the trolls within his city. The Bandit dwarves are executed as well. The drakes and our dwarves are permitted to go home. There will be no pillaging today, Only rebuilding. He yells out across the city, "Lokranda Forevah!" He calls the leader of this expeditionary force to the palace, sitting upon the throne once more he feels satisfied. For this favor, Alberto has rewarded us with one favor from him we can use at any time. However, we should no longer call him Alberto. His real name is T'Wellal. We return home, having seen distant lands. He informs us that he has also broken the curse that the troll mage has put on him, he no longer feels crushing guilt, only greatness... As for his immortality, he's chosen to keep it a little while longer. Truly amazing!

After creating papyrus paper, we asked ourselves an important question. How do we write on this? We used markings with sticks in clay tablets to create our letters. After some searching, we realized that reeds could be very useful to write with. In addition, the dwarves use dyes, plant saps, and even sometimes animal blood. While we do have to dip the reed in ink often, it enables us to write down our thoughts on paper, which is much more easily stored compared to clay tablets. Although some old-fashioned folks still prefer clay tablets.

As our enemies grow more dangerous, and bigger, literally we must develop new weapons to fight them. As such, we create longer spears. These longer spears are able to combat the enemy far more effectively. The Dragonforge assists us with this, and gives us a massive boon. The Sarissa is invented. Far longer than your standard spear, it gives our dwarves extremely long range, enabling to have several lines poised to thrust these weapons into the enemy. Perfect for battle against the trolls.

The guild celebrated the completion of their library, the first small but important achievement to their name. It would be another learning center among the Dwarven nation.

FP 3
There were many different kinds of magic in the world, and many different ways people used it.

Instead of trying to discover a new magic, the Guild wanted to figure out how to make it easier for more people to use.

They took some novice magic users and presented them with items often used to cast magic. From staffs, to bones, to small animals, to just using bare hands or words.

It turned out the easiest way to use magic was the Wand.

The guild want to develop a new "Standard Wand". Mana crystals would be cut into the same shape, and a common mold would be made in which copper would be poured to form the base of the wand. This way each wand would function the same, and it'd be easier to train. If they pulled this off, more magically sensitive students would be able to study the arts!

The Library is built in the main hold, and while construction was slow initially, it ramped up as the demand for papyrus grew. Many people helped you finish the library as an important repository of knowledge in the Serene Valley. You also have received copies of some texts that have been stored in various areas, and people have begun to store papyrus texts in your library as well.

As for the Improvement for the T-bow, the cartridge Idea does work, and shortens reload time. Although we must be careful with using these, as crystal supplies start to run low if we use too much of them. Right now the Crystal grotto has approximately 60% of its crystals left. The slide lock idea doesn't work, mainly because the force used typically breaks the side lock unless its reinforced, which makes it so cumbersome to use its easier to just put the rock from the front of the barrel. The cartridge is very efficient, although precious.

You attempt to find more crystal caves... However, you find only one more cave, similar in size compared to the one you previously found. While it replenishes the crystal supply it is still quite small, especially for our growing population. It seems that the detectors are faulty, we are not sure. Perhaps its just that the land below us doesn't have many crystals. On the bright side, we have more crystals now, making the cartridges more common.

We construct roads leading to our southern towns! This encourages people to settle in the south simply by creating ease of access which fosters trade and travel towards the southern lands. This also links the southern lands into our nation fully and adds them to our road network. Should any threats from the south arise, we will be able to respond quickly.

We have built roads and expanded our empire.

But communication rules the world.

Establish that all letters and messengers are government protected, and messengers get free passes at tolls and paid inn service and the right to requisition a horse to deliver messages. It is a crime to delay a messenger, or read a message not meant for you.

The messenger system is created. All messengers have privileges that allow them to move as fast as possible throughout the Serene Valley. To prevent any fraud, seals are issued by the senate, if you don't have a seal you do not get the privileges. Messages of Papyrus and clay tablet can now be carried very quickly on goat riding messengers, greatly improving communication.

I just finished reading up. Crystal seems to be a critical resource limiting our magitech output, while finding additional mines does solve that for some time it is not a permanent solution. So I`d propose to research into trying to artificially create those crystal (probably very hard) or maybe make them grow by having magic user pump mana into them/perform special rituals (more moderate difficulty I assume). Maybe we could set up crystal farms and permanently work around that resource shortage.

Difficulty: Very Hard
You work hard at attempting to figure out how the wave trident was created. You do figure out that it requires a metal of rare quality or better and a very experienced runesmith to be able to do it. You do manage to find out something important, it turns out that the person who goes into the weapon must die, and their soul must be "caught" with a spell, you aren't sure what kind and then put into the weapon in a way you don't know how.

>>2572500
You find yet another Herb. It is called Wetran. When consumed in any way, it seems to restore energy to the wearer. Eating a few small fruits of this plant (they look like cherries but without the pit) can give an exhausted person new energy to move forward.

>>2572554
Difficulty: Sliding
You find a small vein of Onyx, while it isn't as strong as a want with say, ruby or other gems, the onyx crystals are able to power up your spells by some amount.

>>2572747
You continue to improve your efficiency in metal working. As it appears, forging runes into hammers (Which will need to be made of Terite) can improve their smithing capabilities. Adding the Level 3 spell Lesser Metal Manipulation to a hammer can significantly improve its ability to hammer down a weapon and create a much sharper edge.

>>2572768
Difficulty: Sliding
You don't find anything interesting with the exception of a couple of small caves with nothing in them.

>>2573876
Difficulty: Very Hard
You're able to create the primitive printing press, however it takes very long to carve the block, meaning that the news isn't very recent simply due to that delay. In addition, the ink tends to get extremely smudged and sometimes is simply unreadable. This process also consumes a very large amount of ink, and wastes much paper. Errors on the wood block itself makes it so that the entire block has to be discarded, wasting wood in the process as well.. Very inefficient.

The combination of a wheel and rope has create an interesting new invention. The pulley. With enough dwarves and a strong enough rope, we are able to pull heavy weights higher and higher with relative ease! Ramps are no longer required to bring heavy stones up to the top and as a result, we are capable of building higher buildings, both within our holds and outside, enabling us to create towers and larger fortifications more easily.

We begin to construct bigger and bigger walls, as well as constructing some simple towers as strongpoints along the walls. On top of that, these towers can act as strong locations from where archers can fire and give the soldiers manning it somewhat of an increased sight range. Military Reform- A Grand Army
Our Republic requires a Grand Army to defend it. In order to do so it must be well equipped and trained.
To do this each district will have its senator in charge of overseeing these actions in preparing an army from each district that will come together in war.

Senators overseeing the districts are given the title of warlord and command of the professional armies. Our people shall be trained by the professionals, ensuring that we have a good standard of education. The male dwarves are growing more and more prepared as each day of training passes by. Needless to say Tokrab is impressed by our work in constructing a powerful military.

Troll 1: "You are the King of Ragkor, I apologize for forcing you to come all the way out here, but the other trolls cannot know this."
Troll 2: "It is alright Boglak, you are the messenger from the Underworld of Anathanas'Thok, what news do they have for us?"
Troll 1: "Anathanas is raising an army, He calls it The Unstoppable Swarm. He demands that Ragkor help him in this and that they be ready for when they are called upon."
Troll 2: "Before I say anything... Does he have the blessing of the worldshaper? I have heard rumors that he is the chosen one by the worldshaper, to unite the trolls and destroy the dwarves."
Troll 1: "What the hell do you think he's doing your majesty, King Vorbuk? Anathanas is his chosen, his champion standing to lead the armies of the trolls. Anything less is heresy. The worldshaper himself did it to him in a ceremony in the Underworld. He possesses capabilities stronger than any troll, more intelligence, his strength is unrivaled."
Troll 2: "I shall trust you on this Boglak. Anathanas shall have my aid."
Boglak extends his hand, and the King grabs it, as if it were a gesture of sealing a pact.
Troll 2:" Let the world tremble like the earth will when the greatest swarm of trolls ravages these lands."

You manage to return to friendly territory.. Dodging troll ambushes, anyone who falls behind gets attacked and killed by trolls. However, there appears to be a great plot unfolding against the great dragonforge. However, life must go on. Many people in the upper ranks of the Serene valley that have heard about this are very worried. As for the Great Dragonforge, they thank us for this information, as it is extremely valuable.

A message from The Great Dragonforge returns, formally. It reads as follows.

Dear Dwarves of the Serene Valley Republic,

We are thankful regarding this new information. The Unstoppable Swarm does seem to be a dire threat, however the Legions of the Great Dragonforge shall be able to counter it, at least so we hope. Should it ever be required, we shall send you a message informing that we will have launched what is known as "The Last Crusade" in the name of the Worldshaper. We have identified our true enemy, he claims to be the Worldshaper. However, this is not the true worldshaper that resides in the Great Dragonforge. It is an imposter. The favorite son of the Worldshaper, Forendas had gone mad and led half of the earthen titans away to the lands of the trolls, where they became their Gods. He seeks to usurp the Worldshaper, and form a new world, dominated by him, and him alone. As for Anathanas.. It is true, he is a troll whose powers are far stronger than any other troll. However, our King is a master of battle, and has been blessed with powers by the Worldshaper as well.

As for construction, the Crane is invented! This crane is a major step up from the pulley. While it is still primitive, it is a very efficient machine that will greatly aid in construction.

A clever dwarven crane builder surmised that if one increased the size of the counterweight on the back end and used a pulley to wind down the arm, the stored energy could be employed to hurl heavy projectiles (or anything -- burning pitch, metal balls, etc.) The trebuchet.

Takes awhile to reload, but not a whole day like the FYT. Maybe build a few and stick 'em behind the northern wall so they can smush things on the other side.

The Clever Dwarven crane builder's idea was ahead of its time... The Military was overcome with a new invention. The Ballista. Capable of throwing large bolts/arrows at the enemy at a long distance, and if used persistently can topple walls with its massive bolts. While it is not a trebuchet, as our first non-runecrafted Siege Engine, it is a step towards a trebuchet. (Ruling it metagaming as this is tech way beyond its time)

We continue to search for more and more crystals, and this time we find sizable caves of crystals, very large amounts. This will allow us to have quite a few expendable crystals. What's interesting, is that these caves have developed small ecosystems. The most prolific creature within this significantly sized crystal cave is a stone-like crystal worm which devours the crystals and grows slightly larger with each consumed Crystal. These worms, when drained often hold lots of energy meant for recharging exhausted magicians.

The road is constructed! The dwarves of Dobak are thankful that such a road was constructed to help link our holdings to ours. In recent times they have taken on a lot of immigrants from the Great Dragonforge, while they are not as big as us, they are growing stronger by the day with support from the Dragonforge and the ingenuity of the Immigrants. Most of their river valley has been settled. Dobak is flourishing indeed, however there are very few gnomes within their lands. It also has been a very long time since Dobak has seen a major attack.

An annual sports festival in the warmer months. Axe throwing, goat jousting, stunt roc riding, tests of strength. Dwarves from all over come to compete in the 'Valley Games'.
>>
The tradition of creating bands and rings with embedded jewels is created. The Richest Dwarves and senators often carry large gold bands just below the chin. The Supreme Senator also wears a large gold band, however engraved is "Supreme" and is flanked by two rubies. Accomplished warriors often have bands of silver with the number of kills etched in them (usually the number of kills is updated every war). Prominent mages have Bands as well, those of Sebre usually. The best of our runesmiths are given Terite Bands to signify their position. There is also a variety of bands for the lower classes simply for style, made of Brass, Nickel, Silver and Bronze.

However, dire news abroad! A messenger came from the road to Dobak, weary and greatly wounded we are able to save him from death inside the fort by the Great wall. Dark news is reported, a large-sized Troll warparty attacked Dobak, sacked it and slaughtered half the inhabitants, and taking the rest into Slavery. The reports are that the trolls came from the West. As far as we know, Dobak is in ruins and uninhabited. What's more, we have not received a trade shipment from The Great Dragonforge since the message arrived.

A newly crowned troll king yells across the battlefield, most likely to our troll allies.
"My brothers! The vile dwarves have subjugated you! Will you fight for them like cowards, or will you fight for your freedom, as any troll would! Fight alongside us, and we will attack these dwarves, and ensure freedom for you! We have the numbers, and we have the will... These dwarves do not have the will."
As the allied trolls start to hear this... They stop being so friendly with us, and instead turn on us... The frontline of our forces, working alongside the Sarissas now turns on them, and starts smacking our dwarves, starting to Hack through them... It appears the tide of battle is starting to change. The enemy now outnumbers us!

The ranged position has been attacked by trolls as well! The earth elementals and the dwarves are holding them off, but just barely... The T-Bow has been reloaded, we must attack!

"FOR THE WORLDSHAPER! AH OOH, AH OOH! VENGEANCE FOR KING TARGOK!"
Our sarissas simply cannot keep them away as much as we'd like! Our "allied" trolls have fully turned on us. It seems like defeat is imminent!

Our dwarves are slowly starting to break away from the line and just retreat.

As we retreat, we are harassed and attacked by trolls who try to keep up with us all along the way. As we finally retreat to the safety of the wall, the Trolls finally disengage, we are exhausted and have lost our ballistas the FYT, and most of our T-Bows. This military attack was a total failure. 1,100 dwarves lost their lives, and we lost our entire troll ally army. Dobak is still occupied by the trolls. Our morale is in the gutter, with our military suffering its first formal defeat, and many soldiers having lost their friends. However, there is one hope. The Kingdom of Tokrab has sent its aid. 1,000 Men have arrived in Koropolis, our Capital. Alongside our 1,400 men we can, at the very least secure our northern border with our soldiers. However, the question on everyone's mind is what do we do?

FP: Daloder Grayview is devastated with the major defeat in Dobak, so he decides to order thicker versions of the lacellar armor, big shields, and corinthian helmet to begin training most of the warriors in Clan Grayview as heavy infantry. Each heavy infantry will have a cool shirt to help them keep cool~~
>>
>>2586490
The efforts to root out the troll incursions in Dorbak proved in vain as the trolls were a far greater threat then we initially suspected. Instead of a collection of loose war-bands we faced off against an organized foe that had been carefully hiding their strength until they could strike. the situation was made worse when the levied trolls foolishly betrayed us.

We must however, not despair. With the full threat of the troll offensive realized we can better prepare and later break them with the aid of our allies.
>>
The Northern defenses are prepared well. Ballistas are mounted on the walls, the fort's gates are reinforced, and we have dwarves patrolling the wall, ever vigilant for any incoming troll threat.

As for at home, the news is given to the public. The Supreme Senator and the other Senators all give their own story. Many are shocked, others, fearful. Many women, now widows have been angered, and divert it towards none other than Bork Baya, who they view as the one who caused this with believing the trolls to be trustworthy. However, the public seems to unite. A new common saying has risen among the populace due to this event... "The only good troll is a dead troll."

Returning to the front, it has been a week since the defeat at Dobak. No attack has come, and Roc scouts state that smaller troll warparties are moving north... Towards the Dragonforge, however they have left a large contingent entrenched within Dobak, and have seized the ballistas. They are also trying to figure out how T-Bows work, at least that's what Aerial reconnaissance suggests.
>>
>>2588134
We should try to get a message to the dragon forge and see if they have any sort of plan they want to cordinate with us while we rebuild.

We can also try to sabotage the T-bows in dorbak using stealth.

While doing those two our main army will focus on two objectives.
1 Garrisoning the northern wall.
2 With our allies we'll take the rest of our army and march on the troll tributary state to find out if there is any more to this rebellion.

Difficulty: Medium
Your heavy infantry starts to take shape before the war. Bigger and heavily Lamellar is created, large shields and thick corinthian helmets are created for the dwarves. They are trained often, and work out very hard because the equipment they wear is truly heavy, but it shields them from damage. The cool shirt, albeit expensive is very effective at preventing exhaustion and overheating. By the end of the decade, you have 100 Heavy infantry, well trained and prepared for battle. Their weapon of choice is the Sarissa which excels against trolls.

And so the plan is put into action.

First, the message from the Great Dragonforge. A roc is sent, and returns approximately two days later. With him is an important message:
"Dearest brothers in the south. Dire times are upon all of Dwarven Kind. What you told us was correct, we hoped it hadn't happened, but for the first time in 300 years, the trolls have been formed into the Unstoppable Swarm. The last time it occurred it inflicted massive losses upon all dwarves and devastated nations. We have seen what has occurred in the south, and it deeply saddens us about the loss of Dobak. In the south there is a significant troll force indeed... However that force is little compared to what is transpiring within the north... Endless hordes of trolls. Our titan military leaders are working there, and it appears that the trolls too, are being led by titans of their own. We are not afraid of a major troll attack from the south, our fortifications are strong, and we have prepared accordingly... In this phase of the war, we entrust you, the dwarves of Tokrab and the Serene Valley to secure our southern flank. We will hold in the north.
May the Worldshaper guide you."

As for asking aid from T'Wellal, it takes two weeks for the aid to Arrive, however it is substantial. 1,250 men have arrived, bearing the message. "T'Wellal, the great King always pays his debts. We shall help you with the troll menace as you have helped free us from the trolls." They are at our disposal, and seem to be lighter forms of infantry, however they are much more accustomed to life above ground than us, but likewise use spears to fight.

The Stealth mission succeeds! We are able to sabotage the FYT, breaking it and a preventing the trolls from using it ever again. We also sabotage most of the T-Bows, while we were unable to destroy all of them, we made most unusable in the event of a war.

As for the forces, 750 of the Lakorandans have been deployed with the southern force, 500 to the wall leaving 1,500 to guard the wall and 2,150 to go to the southern trolls... Upon arriving to their main settlement, the Capital we meet with the troll chief, an old troll who's eyes look like those who have witnessed the horrors of war, specifically the war started by you. He claims he had no idea of this mutiny. What do we do?

Your men betrayed us in the north perhaps without considering what may happen to you here. If you have some trolls among you who could convince them to realize the error of their ways and betray the swarm we will show mercy.
There will also be a small war tax put in place for the remainder of this conflict.
Accept these terms and your people will be spared.
>>

This.
>>
The trolls agree, they'll send some of their people to see if the other trolls can realize the error of their ways to betray the Swarm. They also agree to pay the war tax, and help support you in any way they can.

When the trolls are sent out, they don't return with much, only about 50 trolls betrayed the swarm, only because of their family. However, the do provide some intelligence. The main intelligence provided is that the trolls are going to further entrench within Dobak and hopefully add it to their territory. They are willing to accept a peace deal with us if we leave them alone in Dobak.

What do we do now?

As our men prepare to attack, we can see from a distance the last field that we waged a battle on... Still full of Carrion and dried blood. The initial attack is pretty nasty, needless to say. Many of our troops were apprehensive about going into Dobak, and simply stood just outside as Boulders were thrown at us. Quite a few of the boulders hit their marks and killed many dwarves. When we finally made it to the breach the trolls start to attack us from all sides, the formation started to falter slightly, which left a hole open to kill a decent chunk of our soldiers. Regardless, we cannot let this small setback mean defeat!

As we advance further, it appears that a rage has been lit within our dwarves. Anger at their previous defeat... Anger against the trolls for killing their friends. Spurred on by the Warlord Muratir, we begin to press forward, impaling many a troll upon our sarissas. The trolls are also worried about approaching our formation, because our Sarissas seem to be just too effective against them. The boulder throwers seem to be growing more inaccurate, and as the magicians set up, they start to redirect the boulders thrown at the soldiers, throwing them to the side of our forces. The Lakorandans still sit in the back, waiting for their eager chance to storm the city, where they claim they fight excellently. We have goat riders posted to watch for any other troll attacks.

The trolls are being further pushed back. Protected by our shields and the long range of our Sarissas, alongside earthen elementals we press the trolls away from the bottleneck at the breach. The Anti-troll formation is proving amazingly effective. However, these trolls seem bent on preventing us from breaking through, because once we get into the streets, we will we be able to use our numbers far more effectively. Inside we see the savagery of the Lakorandan Soldier. Fighting with a furious tenacity, that of a wild animal. Little armor allows him to run around at high speeds, dodging troll attacks all the while stabbing them until they die. Two varying styles of battle are seen within the streets, the Lakorandans who prioritize agility and tenacity, and the Dwarves who emphasize discipline and formation. Both are equally effective against trolls, who, in the more cramped spaces of the streets lose effectiveness due to their overly large size.

Having secured Dobak and linked up with the Dragonforge, we reinforce our position. The Trolls send a message to us, or rather... Something yelled across the river.
"YOU WIN FOR NOW... LITTLE ONES."

The bodies are burnt.

Regarding the dragonforge, they are ecstatic at our victory, and trust in us to secure the southern flank. They will leave some soldiers in their own southern borders to protect us, but are going to transfer yet more troops to the north to fight against the Unstoppable Swarm. However, on behalf of the dwarves of Dobak, whom they were very close with, they have decided to entrust us as protectors of these lands, since the dwarves of Dobak have been all either killed, or worse.

Returning home... Our soldiers are celebrated as heroes, none more highly than the Warlord Muratir! Darach also gets a seat of Honor, but everyone is impressed at how he handled that war. Many call him a hero. The traditional feast is held, with us holding a moment of silence and respect for all who died, and after that, plenty of celebration.

We need better equipment to make up for our lowered numbers
>>
We begin to expand and invest in farming in both Toklar and Dobak. Dobak has been ruined by war, however with some incentives, our people gladly migrate to Dobak, most stay near the central city and start forming small militias to help protect themselves against the troll threat. Those seeking for a more peaceful life, although with less space than in Dobak, choose to settle in Toklar and start up farming as well. With more farms, our food production is increased nicely.

As you develop better farming technology, we develop the sickle. It is far more effective at harvesting large amounts of grain in one slice, enabling a man to do more harvesting than before. Before, simple knives were used which often times did not cut too effectively. However, with the development of the sickle, farmers can harvest much faster and prepare for the next planting season earlier.

And so, the "Under Roads" Initiative has been created. Muratir's plan is bold, but our engineers have stated that it is possible. With a combination of Dwarvish Labor and Earth Magic we will be able to complete this initiative, albeit over a long period of time. However dwarves were born for a task such as this.

The First stage, carving out spaces for underground mushroom farms, is expected to take 5 years. Mages and Workers shall be working to carve this area out, and then leaving reinforced natural pillars, further strengthened by earth spells.

The second stage is making the under-road itself. That shall be spaced out into two phases. The First Phase shall connect Koropolis to Dobak, the Hold of Clan Greyview, Toklar, and the large oasis just south of Koropolis. The Second phase shall connect Koropolis to the southern holds, in the former troll lands. In addition, the Dragonforge has offered to connect their lands to the Under road network, and will provide the appropriate workers to accomplish this task.

The last phase will be using all this stone to convert dirt roads into stone roads.
Stage 1 will be finished in 5 years, according to engineers. Stage 2, Phase 1 will be finished in 10 years from now , Stage 2, Phase 2 will be finished 15 years from now, and Stage 3 shall be finished 17 years from now.
This does have the negative side effect of taking from our farmers, however our agriculture is still stable.

We create the pottery wheel! It greatly streamlines the potterymaking process due to a wheel that spins the pottery that will be formed into what we need. In addition, a festival of love where love is celebrated is created. Those without someone to celebrate the festival are often given encouragements and are helped with finding someone they love. Whereas those who are already in love usually spend the festival partying and displaying their love for one another. However, regardless of all that, there is plenty of food to feast on during this festival!

By empowering these wands with special runes and charging them with a mage or mana crystal, this significantly amplifies the powers of mages, and gives them a small reserve pool of mana to draw upon. They do not need to cast spells any more, say the incantation or perform a ritual, merely think of the spell they wish to carry out, and if the Wand has been emblazoned with the corresponding rune, the mage can carry out the action with a simple hand motion.

The runes are experimented with... Heavily. The level 2, almost level 3 runesmith begins to work hard and hard. We begin to improve our Ard! We develop the first Plough. It is an improvement over the Ard, mainly in that we can use animals to plough our land now. Out of the Great Dragonforge, we are sent a message updating us on the state of the war.
"To the Dwarves of the Serene Valley,
The War against the Swarm has been a long one. There have been no massive battles, save for the one that started this war off. The two northern Kingdoms, which border the trolls have been well-prepared for such a war. The Rothan State and the Kingdom of Stagmun have been facing off against trolls ever since the creation of their nation, and have fought long and hard to secure their lands against trolls. With our support, we are fending the trolls off. Walls and fortifications have been long in place in preparation for a second swarm war. So far, the war has mainly been skirmishing and probing attacks upon the walls, seeing where our defenses are the weakest. For now, your aid is not required... However, we are worried Anathanas is planning something. When we call upon you, you must be ready to answer."

As for the T-Bows, we focus on production, and by the end of the year, we have 500 T-bows, and 2 FYTs ready for battle. Our runesmiths have been working for a very long time, however these weapons will be surely effective against the trolls.

As we dig deeper and deeper through the underground, we gain valuable experience on how to make pillars. By using stone bricks or stone blocks and stacking them, sticking them together with mortar, we are able to create pillars. We also start using arches, which seem to hold up the weight of the stone corridors far more effectively, using less resources. The arches are also more durable, which enables us to create long-lasting tunnels within these underroads.

You begin to create naval oriented ships! With some help from Tokrab and their Toscani Dwarves, you are able to mount rams for effective ship to ship combat. On top of that, you create harpoons, which you can throw a reasonable distance to impale fish. For combat, it is impractical, but if it was thrown hard enough it could manage to skewer the side of a boat and "reel" it in.

The group is assembled! As the group is fully stocked, they prepare to head out and head first and foremost, to the Great Dragonforge. They ask for directions from the guidemaster at the Dragonforge, who presents to you all a map of the northern lands.

"Well eh, you have two options, go along the river westward, to The Kingdom of Stagmun and further on to Twin Peaks, their capital. The Stagmuni are humble people, who truly enjoy farming and digging, a simpler kind of good dwarf. We've seen you make the Underroads, they're way ahead of you in that regard. You could also go eastward along the road, to The Nation of Rothan... They're an odd, abrasive kind of dwarf. They put great emphasis on the military. Their lands were almost entirely devastated from the last Swarm war... They've been preparing for a rematch ever since, and their high command always seem to be angry at trolls, whatever the occasion is. If you ever see an angry Rothani, they're probably thinking about trolls."

As you go westward, you meet small towns and hamlets, and plenty of farms along the route. It is a comfy life, it appears that the mountains to the south shelter these dwarves from too many conflicts with trolls. Passing by a stone bridge past the river, you reach the wall, where you are let through with ease. The guidemaster had given you passes into the Stagmuni and Rothani Lands. As you proceed northwards, you stop by oasis camps where you restock on supplies. Passing through the badlands, you reach the greener riverlands near the twin peaks. Going past yet another bridge, you are greeted with two large mountains, standing all by themselves around farmlands and badlands. As you reach the gate, you are asked

You two seemingly work together and enter into a library and find a cool book on the history of this land. It appears that there were two states here, each founded right after the first war against the swarm. One had their capital in the eastern mountain, while the other had their capital in the western mountain. After long diplomatic negotiations, the two states finally united to form the Kingdom of Stagmun. Although it is an odd story, historians attribute this unification to the worldshaper himself encouraging both Kingdoms to unite.

You begin the fight with the dwarf... And after a few minutes of fighting, you manage to throw him to the ground. You unleash a few more punches into him, almost killing him in the process... Goluc finds an interesting animal. It is called a Muntag. It is far larger than any pack animal you have, and is capable of carrying very large loads, or pulling very large loads, it is not ideal for riding however, due to its large size compared to dwarves. However, you manage to acquire a pair for breeding.

After spending your time in Twin peaks, you are taken to the Throne room, where the king sits on a throne of greenish crystal, deep in thought, an elderly dwarf, although it appears his strength has not fully left him yet... He watches you enter, and asks you.
"Who, and what are you? Are you those people from the Serene Valley? Why have you come here?"
>>
>>2604336
"We come from the South to strengthen ties with our Northern comrades through trade and forms of cooperation."
>>

"Trade... Certainly. I'd be glad to foster some trade. As for cooperation, we do not need your help at the moment. The trolls in the north are causing a ruckus indeed, but we have been able to keep them off of us for quite some time now. We hope that this swarm war will end in our victory, if the worldshaper wills it. Is that all you've come to talk to me about?" (If you're leaving please state so)

>>2604358
"There is a lot of them. These trolls have been preparing for this war for a long time. It appears that It is four main troll nations in the north that are fighting us. The Underworld of Anathanas'Thok, the Tribes of Burtlak, the Tribes of Kol'than, and the Dominion of Harthak. Each of them have their own little society and culture, but to me they are all scum. They're a bunch of warlike beasts who attack us once more when we just want to deal with our own matters. Is that all?"
>>
>>2604364
"As for you, their lands are mountainous, and the trolls know it like the back of their hand. We do not. We've never tried to exterminate the damned trolls because we've been busy trying to fix ourselves after the last troll war, and the fact that every time we send an expedition into the mountains, very few return."
>>

The last swarm war many years ago had destroyed the nation of Rothan entirely, and subjugated its people under the Trolls. When the armies of the Dragonforge freed them, they swore never to be bent again by the trolls. As for the current swarm war, many men have been sent off to the north to defend their homeland, however there are many more men working farm jobs who have not been conscripted yet. The lands themselves have been mostly unaffected due to the defenses way in the north keeping the trolls out.

You manage to find a really nifty herb. It is called Ironleaf by the dwarves. This toughens your skin up, making it more resistant to attacks with blades. It also gives you some pain tolerance, but overall it makes it much harder to cut through your skin, and if a very large dose is taken, the skin may become hard permanently, so it is important not to overdose.

These warrior people are no strangers to technological innovation in preparation for war. These dwarves use a peculiar weapon that you do not use. A sword. Made out of bronze, it has a sleeker design meant to parry and deflect attacks. Very effective against other sword users. A powerful weapon!

As you are done freeroaming, you all come together to enter the throne room... However you find the throne empty! Rather, you see a woman, the queen, sitting upon a slightly smaller throne to the right of the main throne. She speaks with a regal voice.
"If you've come to see the King, he's in the north, in Roldan, dealing with the war the trolls have sent upon us. However, you may speak to me. If you wish to go north, I will not stop you however."

As you head northwards, half the group splits off, with all of Grayview having left for home. As you head towards Roldan, you finally reach the gates as someone leaves, with a guard of heavily armed dwarves. The King of Rothan. As he processes out, he recognizes you by a seal the Queen previously gave you.

"Ah, you are guests here, from the Serene Valley, by all means, let me take you to the frontline, so you may see the carnage there. I revel in it. Do you have anything to say to me, dwarves of the south?"

As you proceed northwards, you pass through a great wall... And in the distance you see yet another great wall. Coming closer and closer to the wall, you see dwarves cheering as they see their king passing by. An officer runs up to the King, he bows to him and reports.
"Sir! Dire news! The Trolls have breached the two auxiliary walls in front of the main one!"
The King grows angry.
"Those God Damn trolls! Them and their tricks. Have they made it to the main wall?"
The Officer speaks, slightly worried.
"They haven't sir, the wall has been reinforced appropriately, the wall is a strong one, their siege engines won't bring it down."

The King smiles and nods, "Good." As you proceed atop the wall a gruesome sight greets you. Decomposing bodies of both trolls and dwarves are visible from atop the wall. The two walls in front have indeed been breached. However, what's even more worrying is a massive troll camp, and in the distance... A large figure. A titan.
The King strokes his beard,
"By the titans... Its come. Its not their false worldshaper... I've seen the bastard before. But these trolls are preparing for a massive attack without a doubt."
He turns to you and proudly tells you,
"Behold! What I have been tasked to hold against the innumerable tides of trolls! The Worldshaper has entrusted me with this task, and has given me many soldiers. Such is war. I will not fail him. Do you have any questions for me regarding this?"

The expeditionary force to the north is sent, 2 FYTs are deployed alongside with appropriate weapons. There are quite a few volunteers willing to go, however you only select the top 700. Many think of it as an adventure, or a way to get back at the trolls after the disaster at Dobak. Reports at the end of the year say that the FYT can harm titans, however the response that the titans get is equivalent of having a pebble thrown at you at a moderate speed, it seems to cause pain, but very little.

You manage to create Chariots! They're sort of like carts, which you already have, but adapted for war. It is a platform pulled by goats or horses upon which two or three dwarves can stand upon and fire. T-Bows, Normal Bows, Javelins, and even Sarissas and spears can be used atop these chariots. They are also useful for carrying commanders from where they can command the military forces, and can transport our soldiers across the battlefield. They're also quite scary to any enemies we may fight.
In other news, Stage 2, Phase 1 of the Underroads initiative has been completed!

You manage to create this magical ammunition! Using runesmithing and what you know, you are able to create shells filled with mana crystals. It does require some help from the Dragonforge, however they bestow upon you level 4 fire magic, which unlocks lesser explosions. The Runes detonate when the shell starts to disintegrate, creating an explosion. While this is an extremely expensive form of shell, it is extremely effective against normal fortifications. When sent up north for testing, it does work against titans and does provoke a painful response. Even cracks are formed in the skin! However, after a few minutes, they disappear, as if they had been regenerated.

NORMAL FAILURE
While you send out 7 ships to find some islands, only 2 return, and those that do return are heavily damaged, and in some places, leaking. However, they have found two islands just to the south of Toklar one of which even has a lake! They seem to be uninhabited for the time being.

We begin to trade heavily with the northern lands! Stagmun and Rothan offer us a curious crop in exchange for our food... The Potato. In addition, they give us plenty of money as well, it seems that food is a highly valued commodity, until we receive grim news... The trolls have started to ramp up their attacks on both the wall in Stagmun and Rothan. The northern dwarves reassure us they do not need help. Our own volunteer battalion, while it has sustained losses, has gained a lot of experience, although frequent firing of one of the FYTs has damaged it beyond repair. There has been no sign of Anathanas or the fake worldshaper on the front lines

Very little is found within the hills and the islands, almost nothing of value in truth. However, more news from the north. The troll offensive is ramping up. The Stagmun front reports one titan, the Rothan front reports two. Troll offensives have been on the rise. However the walls have held... So far.

Begin preparations for a potential conflict.
Extra military training, check fortifications and stock pile more resources, and send scouts into the nearby troll lands to see if they're building up for another invasion attempt.

The proper preparations have been made. Extra military training has been given to all male citizens in our lands. In addition, all fortifications have been checked on, and are in good condition. Resources are in good order, with a large food stockpile, in addition to that, we have a good stockpile of funds. Weapons and armor are in no short supply. The trolls in the East and West have been calm, no one is bugging them. However, on the 5th of Plest, the 5th month of the year, and the 147th year since Khornab, our founder had disappeared... We receive a fateful message from The Great Dragonforge.

"Dear Dwarves of the Serene Valley.
Your time has come to fight in the Swarm war. We thought we could hold, we thought we could stem the tide of trolls that would wash over us. We were wrong. Their fake version of the Worldshaper and his group of Titans have started showing up on the frontlines. What ensued was horrendous. The great wall in the north of Rothan was specially crafted to withstand even the strongest of elemental attacks with specialized metals and stone. Stagmun was also well made. Our report said that the Worldshaper of the trolls showed up just north of the Rothani Wall, pointed his palm at the wall, and then made a fist. The wall crumpled up like paper. Then, he made a motion, as if he was throwing something away, and a great ball of stone was hurled to the side. He repeated this with the second wall, and then at the Wall in Stagmun. Scouts suggested that he is thoroughly exhausted. The Wall at Rothan was built by the finest architects, and even a titan out of Garanthite, the Greater Elemental Metal, and Titanstone. It was no easy feat to break through that wall... But somehow the trolls did it. Anathanas and his false god has broken through the barrier that separated us from the rest of trollkind, and now he is poised to strike a killing blow against us. Thus, in this time of darkness I have declared what is known as "The Last Crusade." We have the power to put the trolls back in their place for eternity. I ask you, dwarves of the Serene Valley, will you accept the call? If you do agree, send an army to the Dragonforge, and we will discuss what is to happen there.
Signed,
The Worldshaper"
