>This is a quest taking place in the Fullmetal Alchemist setting, beginning at roughly the same time as the original story. However, some parts of the setting have been slightly altered. You will be playing as a Iskander Steiner, a young alchemist, who will develop based on the choices made by the players. Remember that write-ins are always welcome, and to have fun.

The three of you do as you're told, and take seats in the three chairs in front of the General's desk.

"Winry has already met him, but as for you two, this is Major Miles." Armstrong motions to the tanned man wearing goggles. "He is my second up here at Northern Command. He and Buccaneer will be present here during our conversation."

Miles nods at the two of you.

"Now, those Elric brothers were able to slip away without telling me everything I wanted to know." the General goes on. "I don't like it. They said they were just heading after Scar to get information on his transmutation technique, but I don't buy it. As soon as Kimblee and his men came into the picture, I could tell there was something more going on. This time, I'm not dropping the matter until I know the truth."

After a bit of consideration, you sign over to Leah that you'll be explaining everything. Though first, you have her give a proper introduction.

"Of course, we'll tell you everything, General." Leah starts. "First off, it's good to finally meet you, Ma'am. We've heard about you from your brother. This is Iskander Steiner, the Silent Alchemist, and I'm Leah Crawford, his interpreter."

"Alex's subordinates..." Olivier contemplates something for a bit. "Well at least I can count on you more than those brothers that work under Mustang. Those punks probably already got themselves killed up in Drachma."

Upon that subject being touched, you glance over to see Winry visibly upset at the thought. You decide not to mention that you're technically subordinate to Mustang, and sign to Leah to follow up.

"General, do you have any kind of clue about what happened to the Elric brothers since then?" Leah asks. "Or to Scar or Kimblee, even?"

"Nothing definite." Olivier answers. "Surveillance across the border is less than ideal, especially at this time of year with Winter encroaching. We do have our eyes on Briggs however, and just yesterday, we observed some explosions at the fort. It could just have been an accident, but I would bet anything that it's Kimblee. So we can be sure he's alive, at least. As for anyone else, if they didn't return to Amestris in this direction, they'd likely do it to the East. If I had to hazard a guess, the Elrics would have went by the mountain villages along that route. If they're alive, that is. However, the only reason I could think of why they'd do that is that they'd want to stay off of not only Drachma's radar, but our own. Which leads us back to the main topic."

Olivier eyes you and Leah expectantly. You go over with Leah exactly what to say, and she begins telling everything. The existence of the homunculi, Father, and his plot to turn everyone in Amestris into fuel for a Philosopher's Stone. This is Winry's first time hearing this as well, and you can see concern grow as Leah goes on as she realizes the situations you and the Elrics have been getting yourselves into this whole time. The three officers are silent for the entire explanation, and wait until Leah is completely finished.

"I see." the General says, once Leah is finished. "So this entire country is being moved like puppets. A while back, a General came to visit Northern Command. He asked if I was interested in a corps of immortal soldiers. I told him that immortal soldiers could never be as effective as soldiers that feared death, that had the will to survive. He then laughed and dropped the topic. At that time, I thought it was nothing more than a joke. But it seems those fools really are getting themselves carried away."

With everything out in the open now, you expect Olivier will want some kind of part in the matter. You have Leah ask for you.

"Ma'am, now that you know the truth, what do you plan on doing?" she asks. "If you were willing, you could join forces with those in Central that are building up against the Fuhrer's regime."

"I don't plan on making myself subordinate to Alex, and certainly not that idiot Mustang." the General replies. "However, it might just so happen that we make our own moves in concert. At the very least, I'll talk to Alex about what they plan to do. I'll come up with my own plan from there. Though now that I think about it, Mustang has friends back East. He was always on good terms with Grumman. I think we can expect them to get some support from him. Working with Grumman would be much more acceptable. Alright, you two go on back and tell your superiors know that I'll be making my move this Spring. Make sure they know not to get in our way. If Grumman is in charge, I'll confer with him, but if it's just my brother and Mustang, they can follow my lead as I do what I like. Understood?"

You and Leah nod in affirmation, and the General dismisses you.

"That will be all." she tells you. "Thank you for your cooperation. Now get out of here."

"Make sure to look after Winry." Buccaneer adds. "Good luck."

Can we try to enlist gen. Armstrong troops to place Hoenheims souls gems?
If yes then:
C.Ask something before you leave (Write-in)
Ask them to secretly cooperate with Hoenheim
And, I think we should go back and report to Armstrong or higher ups may become suspicious of our moves.

Before leaving, an idea crosses your mind. You sign to Leah, and have her relay your question to Armstrong.

"Ma'am, we wanted to know one more thing." she says. "Hohenheim needs to get his souls across a huge distance, not just in Amestris, but in all the neighboring countries. We're not sure if we can make it in time for the eclipse. Could we enlist some of your men to help us cover more ground?"

"You want some of my men?" the General replies. "Well, they'll surely fare better than any of Mustang's. I can only imagine the trouble you've all had to go through with him at the helm. Buccaneer, you and a couple of other men get ready to leave for East City and meet this Hohenheim. The Drachman Winter would likely kill anyone else they sent up to place the souls, anyway. They're helpless without us."

"Yes, General!" Buccaneer says, saluting. "We'll get right on it!"

Buccaneer heads off, and you all say farewell to the General before following suit. Heading back to the station, you think about your destination. You've been out of Central for nearly two weeks now. Surely you're under suspicion, even putting aside the possibility that Pride has outed you. You wonder whether it might be a good idea to at least check in with Armstrong. There's also the matter of what to do with Winry. You could take her back to Rush Valley, you suppose. Then again, you don't know if she'd just want to go back to work after all that's happened. Even after that, you think about heading back to East City to see how you can help with Hohenheim's plan.

Go to Rossembol/East City with Winry so she can pay last respect to her grandmother.
We should assume that every our move may be traced, so taking her with us would give us a very good reason to go East again so we can meet with Hoenheim and get part of his philosopher stone and maybe contact with Grumman.
After this we may go somewhere else to plant magic stones for our master plan.
If I remember map correctly to go east by rail we have to go through Central as there is no direct line?

It is sad that this quest don't have more following and I have to go to sleep.
>>
>>1050901

You're not sure how safe you would actually be if you returned to Central. It might just be better to stay away altogether. At the very least, you don't want to compromise your ability to help in Hohenheim's plan. You should bring Winry along too. Leaving her alone might not be a good idea.

The three of you set off, taking your previous route of skirting around the capital instead of taking any lines that go through it. Can't ever be too safe. Eventually, you find yourselves back in East City. You look around, and find out that Hohenheim is checked into a nearby hotel. You head up to his room and knock on the door. It creaks open just a bit, staying there for a moment while he looks through to confirm your identities before opening the door all the way.

"Well, that took you long enough." Hohenheim grumbles. "I've already sent most of our allies from Central off to their own destinations."

As the three of you enter the room, you see some familiar faces within. Around a table, you find Ed and Al, as well as May. There's also a few guys you don't recognize. There are four pretty big guys standing near the walls, and another scrawnier guy with a mustache in another corner of the room. The room is pretty packed, even for likely being one of the biggest rooms in the hotel.

While you take the time to observe all of this, Winry runs straight for the brothers, and hugs them.

"Ed! Al!" she cries. "I'm so glad you guys are alright, we had no idea what happened to you! You just disappeared across the border, and then there was that snowstorm... I was so worried about you guys!"

"Uh, yeah..." Ed mutters. "Sorry about that..."

"We're glad to see you alright too, Winry." Alphonse adds. "We did plenty of worrying ourselves."

"Hey Alphonse, who is this girl?" May butts in. "She's getting kind of touchy."

"I've explained everything to the boys." Hohenheim tells you. "They've been here a couple of days, and I figured I'd hold them until you got here with Winry."

>A.Get right down to business, where does he still need people

Before anything else, you decide to let Hohenheim know you got some help. You relay a message to him through Leah.

"Hohenheim, while we were up north, we told the General everything." she explains. "She also wants to do something about it, and we asked if some of her men could help with your plan. We've got a few of them coming here to East City, and they should be able to hit the northern part of the circle for you."

"Well that's good news." Hohenheim replies. "We just might be able to pull this off."

You and Leah walk over to the others, as Winry finally lets go of the brothers.

"So spill it, you two." Leah tells them. "What exactly happened up there?"

"It's kind of a long story..." Ed sighs, scratching the back of his head. "So, we went across the border after Scar, but Kimblee was on our heels. We managed to meet up with Scar's group, but once when Kimblee attacked, we got separated. I was split off along with two of our new pals there. But since I told them we had chimera friends, and Kimblee didn't really care whether he killed them or not, they decided to tag along with me. So we made our way back to Amestris together."

"As for me, I was with Scar, May, Dr. Marcoh, and Yoki here." Al points to the guy with the mustache. "As we escaped, we took a look at Scar's brother's notes. It turns out, he had been doing a lot of digging. Apparently he found some evidence that had led him to believe that Ishval had been manipulated, and went on to find some evidence for what he thought were similar situations in Drachma, Creta, and Aerugo. Always concerning matters involving Amestris. He traced out the locations of battles that he thought the countries were manipulated into fighting with Amestris, and a point north of Ishval that they were fighting towards at the time. He was convinced that they were being tricked into taking that spot, and was able to plot out a circle with all these points. He was able to figure it out before anyone. Scar said he had been trying to tell people when he returned from Ishval, but nobody would listen. Anyway, we flipped the notes, and found a new circle on the other side. Scar left with those notes, and we haven't seen him since. After that, we had another run in with Kimblee, and... we lost Doctor Marco. Kimblee killed him. But he was able to cave the exit in on Kimblee so he couldn't follow us. We also managed to convince the other two chimera to join us. After that, we worked our way back down to Amestris from the east. We didn't meet up with Ed again until we got here."

"It seems like you guys have been through a lot." Leah says. "I still can't believe someone learned of the circle that long ago."

>A.What was Marcoh doing there anyway?

>B.Manipulated in fighting Amestris, huh?

It really does seem to have been quite a lot. While you're glad to hear they were able t get through all of it, you've still got some questions. You sign to Leah, and have her ask for you.

"So just what was Marcoh doing there, anyway?" she asks. "And you say they were manipulated into fighting Amestris?"

"Mr. Scar apparently found Dr. Marcoh when he broke off from us down in the tunnels under Central." May answers. "The homunculi were holding him down there. Mr. Scar said he came along to make up for contributing to the Philosopher's Stone research."

"It's thanks to him that we were able to decode those notes." Al goes on. "We need to stop Father, so his efforts won't go to waste. Scar took them, so I'm sure he has a plan. As for the manipulation, we think it might be Envy's fault. We've heard him and some of the other homunculi talk about how he's gone around the other countries for a long time. He probably impersonated high ranking officials and led them into fighting Amestris where they wanted. Scar's brother didn't really have a way of knowing this, but he thought something was up based on some records he had found about the direction of Ishval for the past couple hundred years. It was basically just a hunch, but he was able to piece everything together from that. If only we had found out sooner..."

Before moving on, you have Leah mention that Kimblee is probably alive and blew up some of Briggs.

"I expected as much." Ed scoffs. "That guy will not go down easily. We're sure to see him again, so we should be careful."

You then head back over to Hohenheim, and ask where else he needs people.

"Well, if we include the northern soldiers and knock out the north part of the circle..." Hohenheim takes out a map and makes some marks. "Then we still need to hit the edges of the circle in the west and south, as well as the point in Ishval. Do you two have any particular preference?"

Between those options, it's easy to make a choice. You sign to Leah so she can convey the answer to Hohenheim.

"Since we're from the south, we'd like to take care of the points that way." she explains. "Is that alright?"

"Well, I think we actually have enough people that you guys can stick to only one point. If we use those new guys the boys brought, anyway." Hohenheim opens his briefcase and pulls out a vial. He also pulls out another map, focused on a smaller area."Take these and head to South City. That map shows the exact area you need to put the contents of that vial into the earth. Good luck. The rest of the points should go easily enough, save for the one in Ishval. That one might be tricky."

"Oh, I have an idea!" May speaks up. "I should be able to travel though Ishval alright, I'm not Amestrian, so they should be okay with me. I don't want to go by myself though, and everyone else here is Amestrian. They can't tell Alphonse is Amestrian though! Will you come with me, Alphonse?"

"It's true that I'd rather people be making trips into other countries in pairs if they can help it." Hohenheim goes on. "And it's true enough that anyone else would be a much bigger risk."

"Sure thing May, I'll go with you." Al answers. "Seeing Ishval might be neat, too."

"So that leaves the rest of us to hit the points in the west." Ed sighs. "That is, if you guys want to help. How about it?"

"I'm not just going to let my family get killed." one of the men replies. "Especially not if you say you've got a friend that's working on turning chimera back to normal. I'm in with you guys all the way."

The other three men nod in agreement. The scrawny mustached guy looks a bit nervous, but comes forward.

"We don't have to fight anyone, right?" he asks. "If it's just traveling, I can do that just fine. It's not like I want everyone in Amestris to die, either."

"There you go dad, three more pairs should round out all the rest of the points." Ed turns to his father. "Just give us the word, and we'll take care of it."

You can see Hohenheim smile ever so slightly.

"Thank you all." he says. "We'll definitely stop this plot and save everyone."

He begins telling everyone else the specifics of their missions, while you and Leah say goodbye to everyone and head off. These souls aren't going to plant themselves at South City.
>>
>A.I'd like to head south. That's where we're from, anyway
>>
Alright, we were slow anyway, so that's all for the night. I'll be back tomorrow
>>
While the others were getting briefed on their destinations, you and Leah set out for the train station to make your way to South City. You take one last look at the vial Hohenheim gave you. It's apparently full of blood that Hohenheim drew from his own body, yet it looks a lot more like the liquid Philosopher's Stone that Dr. Marcoh showed you. It's still somewhat unsettling to think that the man has souls flowing through his veins like this. But it's thanks to that that he can set up this reverse circle. You stash the vial away.

As you and Leah board your train at the station, you see a couple of Amestrian soldiers looking around the platform. You get the feeling they've got their eyes out for somebody. It could even be you, with how long you've been gallivanting around out of Central. As the day of the eclipse closes in, you're sure they will start employing more and more methods to get the sacrifices in place. You probably don't have a lot of time left to move freely.

The two of you do manage to set off by rail unperturbed however, and find yourself headed South soon enough. As the train departs from the Rush Valley station after a brief stop, Leah speaks up.

"Isk, should we stop in Dublith for a bit?" she asks. "You could tell your teacher about what's going on. Maybe she could help. We could see Nina again too, now that we know her dad is okay."

While you do want to get these souls in place, you've got plenty of time. Over two months until the day of the eclipse. A short detour won't hurt, not to mention the sooner you can alert your teacher, the better. You agree to Leah's suggestion, and when the train stops in Dublith, the two of you disembark.

The town you grew up in looks the same as ever. It's like you never left. Even though it's been less than a year since you first left, it feels like much longer. With everything that's happened, seeing this place again is making you nostalgic. You were in the process of uncovering some secrets last time you were here, but now you're in the middle of trying to save the lives of everyone in the entire country. With that in mind, the sight of this familiar old town is enough to stop you in your tracks for a bit. It seems like Leah is probably thinking much of the same things you are. After the two of you spend a few moments just taking things in, you head off to Curtis Meats.

You don't see anyone playing in the front yard this time, so you decide to enter the store. As the bell rings, Sig looks up from the slab of meat he's cutting on the counter.

"Iskander, Leah. Nice to see you two back home again." he greets, while continuing his work. "If you're looking for Izumi, she's laying down for the day. She hasn't been feeling that well. But Nina and Alexander are right there with her, so her spirits are just fine. I'll leave Mason here to tend the shop, and go on in with you. Just give me a minute."

Sig finishes up the cut he's working on, then gets ready and leads the two of you on back to the house. Hearing the door open, Nina and Alexander run over to see who it is.

"Hey, you're daddy's alchemist friend!" Nina points to you. "Mrs. Curtis' student. Isk, right!"

"That's right." Leah smiles. "And I'm Leah. Do you remember me?"

"Of course! I don't forget people." Nina looks a bit proud of herself, before heading back to another room. "You're here to see Mrs. Curtis, right? She just woke up from a nap."

You all head back into the bedroom to find your teacher sitting up.

You decide you'll start off with a basic greeting, then move into the heart of the matter once Nina is out of earshot. You sign as much to Leah.

"It's good to see you again, Mrs. Curtis." she begins. "It's been a while. How have things been around here?"

"My health has unfortunately been as poor as ever." Izumi replies, before patting Nina on her head. "However, Nina has done wonders to brighten things up around here. Even bedridden, I can say I've been enjoying myself. There have been a few people from the military that have come by, asking either about Nina and her father's situation, or about myself and my alchemy. They seem to have let up a bit, but I doubt they're gone for good."

You and Leah look between each other, and Leah turns to Sig.

"Mr. Curtis, can you take Nina and go play for a bit?" she asks. "There's... something we have to talk about that should stay secret."

"I got it." Sig nods. "Come on Nina, you haven't had lunch yet have you? Let's get you fixed something."

Nina and Alexander follow Sig out of the room, and the three of you are left alone.

"We have a few things we need to tell you." Leah starts. "First, we met with Tucker. He's hiding out in Central with some human chimera, plotting against the military. Which leads us into this next bit, we and several of our allies are doing the same. There's something going on with this country that you really should know."

Leah goes on to explain everything, from the homunculi, to Father, to the Nationwide Transmutation Circle and Father's plan for the day of the eclipse. She continues by talking about all your allies that you've gathered so far, as well as Hohenheim's plan to reverse the effects of Father's circle and your role in the plan that you happen to be carrying out right now. You show her the vial containing the key element of said plan.

Your teacher is visibly shaken upon learning of the plot, but you can see her fists clench in anger. This is surely the teacher you know. Even while laid up in bed, once she hears something that gets her angry, she's just itching to fight. And her constitution hasn't managed to stop her yet.

"That's quite a bit to swallow." she replies, after hearing everything. "I never had a very good opinion of the military or its dogs, but to think they were plotting this the whole time... It makes me sick."

"With Iskander, the Elric brothers, and Hohenheim, they need one more person that has seen beyond the Gate. We were wondering if you might be able to help us on the day of the eclipse."

"So let me get this plan straight." Izumi says. "You are going to play nice, and be in Central on the day of the eclipse so this Father guy can pull off his plan as he expects. You then plan to activate the reverse circle to undo all of his plans. With everything unraveled before him, that'll be your best shot to put him down for good. Is that the gist of it?"

"Basically." Leah nods. "We'll pull the rug out from under him, and strike when his guard is weakest."

"A bit underhanded for my taste." your teacher grins. "But I suppose they did it first. Alright, I'll be part of your plan. I was getting a bit concerned about what might happen if I kept shooing those military guys away, anyway. Rather than have them try to take me against my will, your idea seems better. I'd hate for them to get Nina involved, either."

On the topic of Nina, you and Leah start wondering about what to do. After a bit of signing, you just decide to ask Izumi herself what she thinks.

"What to do with Nina? Well I'd obviously like to keep her well out of the way of all this." your teacher replies. "But there's nowhere in the country she can go to escape this plot entirely, and there's no telling if the military might try to get a hold of her as a bargaining chip if she stays here. And... I want her to see her father. The man probably didn't plan to ever see her again, but still. Abandoning her isn't exactly a great way to make things up. It's not fair to her."

You decide that matter is best left in your teacher's hands. Just so she can be the most prepared, you write down some coded instructions on how to get to the hideout Tucker is in. You base it on your time training under her, so it should not only not be too hard to decode, but only the two of you should be able to read them. You give her the instructions, then sign a message for Leah to relay to her.

"You should try getting in touch with Hohenheim." Leah tells her. "He'll be able to fill you in on a lot more specifics than we can. Here, I'll give you the number of the hotel room he was staying in."

As Leah writes down a number that you had no idea she even learned, Nina comes into the room.

"Are you guys done talking yet?" she asks. "Mr. Curtis made lunch for everybody, so you should come join us!"

Izumi manages to get herself out of bed, and takes the number from Leah as you all head to the kitchen. You take a seat and start digging into the sandwiches Sig has fixed. You didn't realize how much you missed the meat from this place. It's a nostalgic taste. You've had Sig's sandwiches many a time during your training.

"So you'll be headed to South City now, right?" your teacher asks. "Be careful. The fighting with Aerugo is starting to heat up. Don't get yourselves in any dangerous spots."

After sharing a meal together, you and Leah say farewell and head back to the station, boarding a train southward.

Soon enough, you see for yourselves that Izumi wasn't lying. Upon arriving at South City, you see plenty of smoke from beyond the city. The fighting seems to be fairly close. You wonder just how that's impacting the lives of the citizens here.

"Our spot is there, near the fighting." Leah says, looking at the map Hohenheim provided. "This could be trouble."

You figure the ideal would be to plant the contents of the vial without ever getting seen. So you suggest to Leah that you'd prefer to wait until nightfall and apply stealth to reach your destination.

"Alright, we'll do that." she nods in agreement. "I considered the possibility of heading to a war zone when we joined the military, but I didn't think we'd be doing it like this. We need to try not to get noticed by either side. Well, at least we don't have to sneak through Ishval. That would be another matter entirely."

You've got quite some time until nightfall, so the two of you find a cafe nearby and grab a bite to eat as you wait. In the meantime, you watch some people as they pass by. Though there seems to be a general sense of anxiety in the air, people here aren't as disturbed by the fighting as you'd think given the proximity to the city. Either they have confidence in the troops to protect them, or they've just resigned themselves to this as an inevitability. You'd like if you could change that. Once the country is out from under Father's thumb, maybe steps will be taken to stop the fighting. You don't know what it might take to fully repair relations with these countries, especially since Envy has probably been manipulating them behind the scenes, but it'll certainly be better than this.

After a few hours, the sun has set. It's dark now, And even as far south as you are, you can feel a chill setting in. It's definitely Winter. You and Leah head around the southeastern side of the city. There are a couple of soldiers posted to keep civilians from heading this way, but they shouldn't be too hard to slip by. The real problem is the trenches beyond them. You could even bump into soldiers from Aerugo. You can only hope you don't have to worry about that.

The guards on duty aren't all that attentive, so you and Leah are able to sneak past fairly easily. From there, you're able to find a decent amount of cover until you get to the trenches. This far back, most soldiers are up in camps, the trenches at this distance aren't even really used. Luckily for you, they bothered to dig them however, and the two of you are able to move forward without catching any attention for now.

"Since the reverse circle will be using the shadow of the moon, it'll be offset from Father's just a bit to the east." Leah whispers, examining the map once more. "We're just a couple hundred meters out now."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7aZn7naybs&index=53&

As you and Leah continue to advance, you notice something change. The part of the trenches you're in has definitely seen action. The smell of gunpowder is overpowering. You can also clearly see areas that have been hit by artillery shells. Looking even closer, you can see the ground stained with blood. People have no doubt died right here. All for Father's plot. You and Leah come to the edge of a trench and stop.

"This is as far as it goes." she whispers. "Our target is still about twenty meters in that direction, but we'll be out in the open. We'll have to hope the darkness is enough to conceal us."

You take a look around. Both Amestris and Aerugo soldiers have camps in sight of the spot you need to hit. You've managed to stay hidden so far, but once you head out there, if any of them really wanted to look your way, they would see you.

You've managed to sneak this far, might as well go all the way. Give Leah a heads up that you'll be crawling the rest of the way, and for her to cover you.

"Alright, try to get as close to twenty meters as you can. We don't know how much slack we have with distance here." Leah whispers, as she gets her rifle ready. "And be careful."

You pull out the vial, then pull yourself out of the trench and up to ground level. Keeping as low a profile as possible, you inch forward along the ground. You'd love for it to be a new moon tonight, but you can see the crescent hanging above you in the sky, endangering your very life as you make your short but tense journey. Any soldier that cared to do more than glance would be able to see movement along the ground in this direction and get suspicious. As they should, this is a war zone, after all. It could be an enemy sneaking up to kill them in the dead of night. Not that this rationalization brings you any comfort.

You eventually get to where you think is the right spot, and open the vial. You pour the contents out on the ground, one drop at a time, and watch them be absorbed into the earth. A lot faster than you'd expect them to be. It's like each drop knew what it was supposed to do. Or maybe it's just your imagination.

With that done, you tuck the now empty vial away, and breathe a sigh of relief. You get yourself turned around, and start to head back to the trench, when you hear something from your left. Glancing over, there seems to be some movement in the Aerugo camp. You can see a couple of guys standing at the edge of the camp, and one seems to be pointing in your direction. They aren't approaching, but you don't know what they might do.

Rather than do anything that might provoke them, you decide to lay completely still. You bank on the possibility that they might think they're mistaken and decide not to take the chance of making the Amestrians fire at them.

You're glad you're as far out from them as you are, because you manage not to get immediately outed from this distance. You can see one of the soldiers getting antsy with his rifle, he's sure there's someone out there, but it looks like the other one is talking him down. After what seems like hours, the two soldiers head back into their camp and out of sight. You waste no time, and crawl back to the trench to join Leah as fast as you can. She's still got her rifle trained on the Aerugo camp all the way until you're down there with her.

"That was way too close." she sighs quietly. "If you had moved an inch, I'm sure those guys would have been onto you. And If I shot, fighting would have immediately broken out here. We got really lucky that we managed to pull this off. Now let's go, those guys will probably be back to check again in a bit, and I want to be out of here when they do."

With no arguments to the contrary, you join Leah in trekking back to South City through the trenches. At one point, the tow of you have to stop and stay hidden from some Amestris troops, but other than that, you're able to make it back to town without issue. It's well after midnight by the time you get back, so the two of you find a place that'll book you a room for the night, and immediately crash. The tension of that situation alone was enough to make you exhausted.

However, you did your job. This point in the reverse circle is good to go. You can only hope the others manage to do the same at their points. As for you, the rest of the time between now and the day of the eclipse is yours. You wonder exactly how to prepare as you drift off to sleep.

Great run Laze.

It's midday by the time you wake up, and Leah has already brought some breakfast up to the room for you to eat. As you do so, Leah once again outlines the situation.

"So now that we managed that, we have two months left until the day of the eclipse." she begins. "If I'm not wrong, the extent of our plan so far is just 'be in Central on that day', right? We don't even know what Mustang or the others might be up to. We haven't talked to them about this in quite some time. There's always the chance that everyone will be able to coordinate just fine, and I'm worrying over nothing. But we've got a lot of people in on this, and I don't know how much everyone is actually telling each other. It makes me nervous. This is serious, you know? We're going to be taking on the military itself, in the heart of the capital. Taking this lightly is liable to get us killed. And who knows who else. Imagining the fallout this is going to have is not pleasant. What will happen afterwards, even if we succeed? I don't think this is the kind of thing you can just walk away from. I mean, maybe we can stay under the radar if we stick only to fighting the homunculi and Father, but Mustang and Armstrong's men don't have that option if they plan on being the ones to spearhead the whole thing. Is Mustang going to try and install himself right there? I just can't see all of this ending well for everyone."

Leah seems to have been thinking hard about this for a long time. This was probably the reason she's been so quiet on the trip down here, she's been deep in thought.

>A.We just have to do what we can. Once we save Amestris, we can worry about the rest

You decide to at least humor the idea, and sign to Leah that the two of you can try to get in touch with them about what they have planned. You may not exactly have a solution to any of the aforementioned problems, but maybe they already have things worked out.

Leah tries using the hotel phone to call Jean again, but no one picks up. You figured as much would happen, since it's the middle of the day, so the two of you decide to take the rest of the day to rest until you try again in the evening. At that time, Leah manages to get through.

"Jean, we'd like to ask a bit more in detail about what the Lieutenant Colonel has planned for the coming Spring." she begins. "We're still avoiding Central for now, so do you think it might be possible for someone to come out and see us? Oh, that's perfect. We're in South City right now. Dublith would work just fine, sure. Thank you. Goodbye."

"Okay, so Lieutenant Breda was apparently already out of Central on a run to one of the points for Hohenheim." Leah tells you, after hanging up the phone. "He still has a few more days before he has to be back, so Jean said he can meet us to talk in Dublith."

You figure that's as good as anything, since it's not like you were going to get a chance to talk to Mustang himself. With that, the two of you check out of the hotel as night falls. It should be harder for anyone that might be on the lookout for you to recognize you if you move under the cover of darkness. It's not like anyone has proven they're after you yet or anything, but you can't be too careful.

Soon enough you're back on the train, headed north this time. You arrive back at Dublith, and Leah tells you Breda should be here within a few hours.

As the two of you stand around at the station, keeping your eyes open, a southbound train pulls in. Bread isn't on this one, but you do see someone you recognize. It's Hohenheim. He steps out onto the platform, and starts heading into the city. He didn't look this way, so you figure he didn't notice you or Leah here.

You can't think of any reason Hohenheim would be here besides having come to see Izumi after being contacted. You're sure that's where he's headed. Since you've got a bit of time before Breda gets here, you sign to Leah that you'll be following him, and the two of you set off.

Sure enough, he leads you right to the Curtis residence, and you join him as he knocks at the door.

"Iskander and Leah, I thought I might see you down this way." he greets. "I was hoping to see you and get confirmation that you were successful. I know we don't have a lot of time, but double checking everyone's progress will put my mind at ease."

As he's talking, the door opens to reveal your teacher.

"Hello. You're Hohenheim?" she says, coughing. She looks a bit better than the other day, but not much. "Oh, Isk and Leah are back too. Come in, please."

The three of you enter, then take a seat around a table. Nina is in another room nearby, playing with Alexander again.

"I'll be right with you Mrs. Curtis, just give me a moment with these two." Hohenheim tells Izumi. "Can you show me on the map exactly where you placed the contents of the vial?"

"Sure thing." Leah replies, as she pulls out the map. She begins making some markings on it. "It was southeast of the city, and there were trenches that we followed from about here... to here. They stopped there, so Iskander crawled out about twenty meters, and dropped them right here."

Hohenheim looks at the marks on the map, and gives a satisfied grin.

"Perfect. That's exactly where we needed it." he tells you. "Good job, you two. That's one less weight off my mind. Now, Mrs. Curtis. Can I get you to come over here, please?"

Your teacher does as requested, and Hohenheim looks her over. He puts a hand on her stomach, and she pulls back in shock.

"Sorry, I'm just concerned about your condition." Hohenheim tells her. "It would be very dangerous for you to try and join us in Central as you are. If it's alright with you, I'd like to try my hand at helping you out. I have some knowledge of medical alchemy."

Your teacher looks nervous, but accepts the offer. She walks back over to Hohenheim just for him to plunge his hand into her gut. She recoils, holding her stomach, but there's no blood, either on her or Hohenheim's hand.

"There. That should be much better." he says. "You're missing some of your organs. They can't be replaced, but I was able to arrange them so they won't cause as many complications as before. You should be a lot healthier from now on. Healthy enough to take part in our plan this Spring."

"About that." Izumi adds, as she finishes recomposing herself. "I've got some questions about what's happening on this day of the eclipse."

You've filled in Hohenheim on your success, and things here between him and Izumi seem to be covered, so you and Leah opt to take your leave. You say your farewells, and head back to the train station to keep an eye out for Breda.

After a couple of hours, a train arrives from the north, and you see Breda step off onto the platform. He looks around, then spots you and Leah, before approaching.

"Hey, you two. Been a while." the Lieutenant greets. "I was out hitting the spot just east of New Optain. In fact, heading out that way really got me thinking of how awful that whole incident really was in retrospect. They used Hakuro's dissatisfaction with Bradley to manipulate him, and placed him exactly where they needed a massacre. And the Lieutenant Colonel's been getting some info on the inside. Practically every single General in Central is in on the whole operation. They all set up one of their own. Putting aside all the soldiers that died for the whole farce. It's enough to make you want to puke."

Breda grits his teeth. He could probably go on, but you figure he stopped before he made himself too upset.

"So you guys wanted to talk, right?" he goes on. "What can I help you with? I've been kept pretty up to date with most of the happenings."

You're less concerned about what you'll be doing as you are about Breda and the others. You sign to Leah so she can relay your questions for you.

"Breda, we wanted to know exactly what the plan was for you guys on the day of the eclipse." she starts. "And since you all will probably fighting out in the open, we were also wondering how you were going to handle the fallout afterwards, even if we're successful."

"Straight to the heart of it, huh? You don't beat around the bush." Breda forces a laugh. "Well, we'll be lucky enough to all make it out alive at the end of everything. Even if someone has to take the fall, that's better than failing. Failing here would mean the death of everyone in the country. One thing is for sure, Grumman isn't taking any responsibility. The old man wants to be in position to take Bradley's spot at the end of all this. He's one of the most qualified Generals that isn't in on the whole thing, so he has a good shot. The Lieutenant Colonel wants to become Fuhrer, but he's willing to but his ambition aside for the greater good. He's let it be known that if it comes down to it, he'll take full responsibility. If so, there will only be so much Grumman can do for him. He might be looking at a couple decades in prison. And maybe us directly under him, too. I'm sure you guys will be fine though, so no need to worry there. Besides, that's only the worst case scenario. As soon as he found out General Armstrong was going to be taking part, you can be sure he started thinking how he was going to hoist it on her instead. Given the way she operates, it probably won't be too hard. Anyway, things will work out one way or the other. As long as we pull this off, I'm willing to accept anything."

Breda's not lying. You can see the determination in his eyes, and hear it in his voice. The rest of Mustang's men are no doubt the same. Breda goes on to explain what they have prepared of their plan in detail. Havoc's parents are providing arms, which will be smuggled into Central by truck. Mustang's men will use them to take the Fuhrer's wife hostage, which will hopefully let them keep casualties to the lowest possible amount. If this can happen concurrently with an assault by Armstrong's men, it would make things run even smoother. This would all be while the Fuhrer is returning from a routine inspection of an Eastern Command training exercise. Grumman will have a trap set up for him, that should remove him from the picture. With all the military's forces occupied, you and the other sacrifices should be able to take out the homunculi before the eclipse, then activate the reverse circle and take out Father while he's reeling from his plan going up in smoke. And with that, the matter should be settled for good.

You do have a couple of questions about the reasoning behind this plan. You sign them to Leah, who asks them for you.

"Are we sure that the Fuhrer will actually get taken care of? He's the biggest obstacle to the plan." she starts. "And on that note, why is the plan to take the Fuhrer's wife hostage if he won't be there?"

"That's actually exactly the reason." Breda replies. "Since he's a homunculus we don't actually know if he would flinch at the prospect of his wife being taken hostage. We're familiar with how brutal he can be. But with him not there, no one would dare take action if we were to hold her hostage. No one wants to be the one to tell the Fuhrer they killed his wife. There is one other reason. It's to keep her safe. She is after all, the only human member of that family. Turns out, Selim Bradley is a homunculus. It's enough to really make you feel for the old lady. Her life is a total lie. As for the Fuhrer, Grumman assured he would handle it. Said the Fuhrer's trip back would take a little detour to the bottom of a ravine."

You figure that since Bradley can't regenerate, that should be enough to kill him. But Selim Bradley, the Fuhrer's son, a homunculus? You wouldn't have suspected it, but it's not impossible. So then, that means he'll be one of the ones you have to eliminate when the time comes.

"So that's it." Breda finishes. "Now that most of us are done laying the groundwork for the circle, we'll be getting prepared for the assault on the day of the eclipse. What are you guys going to do? Just lay low for a while? I know it's been a while, but you could still come back to Central. It's where you're going to be, it's where they want you, I don't think they'd make too much of a fuss about you coming back. It'd probably just be harder to leave again. Which, you probably wouldn't need to. It's up to you guys, though. If you want to stay out of sight until the right time, you're welcome to."

You figure you'd rather not head back to Central just to get locked down, and would prefer to stay here for the rest of the Winter. You sign as much to Leah, who tells Breda your decision.

"Alright, then I guess we'll see each other when everything goes down." Breda replies. "Those that are in on it... they're calling it 'The Promised Day'. The day when the future of Amestris is decided. Just make sure you give yourselves a little bit of slack to get to Central. Don't want to be late on the big day, after all. Good luck, you two. I've gotta go see Hohenheim and tell him everything went as planned on my end."

You and Leah let Breda know that Hohenheim is actually in town, and that you'll point him his way. He thanks you, and you head back to your teacher's house.

"Hohenheim, Breda is waiting for you at the station." Leah tells the man, as he emerges from the Curtis residence, holding his briefcase. "He'll confirm the placement with you."

"Oh, wonderful. Thank you for letting me know, Leah." Hohenheim replies. "Are you two going to be staying here in Dublith in the meantime?"

Leah nods.

"Well, good luck to you." Hohenheim waves as he starts to head off. "I'll see you in the coming Spring. Goodbye for now!"

After seeing Hohenheim off, you step inside to see your teacher. You find her carrying a sleeping Nina to her room, as she seems to have fallen asleep trying to stay up late.

"Back already?" she asks. After tucking Nina in to sleep, she sits with you around the tabel to chat. "I assume you still being here means the two of you want to stay in Dublith for the time being. You know, visits from those soldiers will probably get more and more frequent as the eclipse closes in. We might have to leave a while beforehand if we want to avoid a serious confrontation. I don't want to get Nina wrapped up in that. But until then, you can come over as often as you like. Nina would love your company."

You and Leah assure Izumi that you'll be taking her up on that offer, then head out. Your old place has probably been taken up by a new tenant by now, so you can't go there. You'll be crashing at Leah's house for the time being.

It's been quite a while since you've been here. Before you even attempted human transmutation, even. It's a large house, way too big for one person. It seems to be meant for quite a large family. However, you don't think anyone but Leah and her late father have lived here. Maybe her mother too at one time, but she's never talked about her.

When you enter, you see there's a bit of a mess, some things have been thrown about. It was probably the chimeras back when they first were looking for you all those months ago. But the place isn't too bad, and you could clean it up in no time at all.

"Make yourself at home." Leah tells you. "Whether you want to spend this time just relaxing, or studying, or whatever you like, feel free to do it all here."

And so time passes until Spring.
