>Information

This quest takes place long before the events of The Last Airbender. Long before Aang, Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk, or Yangchen. You play as a young Earthbender from a small village in one of the many Kingdoms scattered across the main continent. As a powerful villain strives to dominate the world, you will be forced to make choices that can stop it, aid it, or have no effect whatsoever.

>Rules

After each update I make, there will be a voting period of ten minutes. Once ten minutes have passed, whatever option has the most support will be the winner.

Write-ins are accepted, but only when specified If you see a write-in option, suggest whatever you like. If not, choose from the options I have provided.

Sometimes, rolls will be required. I will assign them, and they will operate under a d100 system. You will have three chances, and if one of the rolls succeeds, you pass. There are no crits, but I do take into account how much you succeed or fail by.

I reserve the right to veto certain write-ins, but will try to avoid doing so.

I hope you all have fun

The next morning, you awaken feeling rested and refreshed. Climbing out of your tent, you find that Sansha and Mauya are both sound asleep in their own tents, and that Gava is snoring away at the edge of camp.

Pengsong and Lantana, however, are both absent from the camp. Taking a moment to look around, you can see the pair a short distance down-river, Pengsong lying on the ground as Lantana moves swiftly around, presumably practicing her bending.

If Lantana's up and at 'em this early, you suppose you might as well follow her example and do some training of your own. With the sun still rising higher into the sky, you pass the sleeping sky bison, who lets out a loud snore as you step around him.

You go a short distance up-river, finding an empty space with plenty of Earth and dirt for you to bend as you please. At this distance, you shouldn't disturb anyone so long as you don't go out of your way to make a ton of noise, though you should probably avoid smashing too many rocks on the ground; no telling who or what might be around to hear the commotion.

Now, what will you do?

As you walk along the river, an idea comes to you. What if you could transport yourself on a wave of rock? You'd be able to move faster, and something like that could hit a lot of enemies at once.

Deciding to give it a go, you find that, with great effort, you are indeed able to rise yourself on a wave of Earth, and transport yourself quickly along the side of the river. However, you find that this takes a lot of energy, and that, when your concentration wavers even slightly, the entire thing begins to fall apart.

One interesting thing you find about this new ability is that you can take all of the Earth you've gathered, and send it out in all directions, making it potentially useful against groups of enemies.

Taking a break, you find yourself covered in sweat, and look down river to see that Gava is still sleeping. There's no sign of Sansha or Mauya, so you assume they're still asleep as well.

It's been a little while since you've last had a bath, and with the sweat you've just worked up, you probably don't smell very good. You should probably clean yourself up.

Looking around for a moment to make sure nobody is watching, you remove your clothes, and wade into the water, proceeding to wash your body and hair as best you can. After a few minutes in the river, you remember that you didn't actually bring a change of clothes, leaving you with two options.

You could put the clothes you were wearing previously back on, but that sort of seems to defeat the purpose of getting a bath.

Or, you could sneak back to camp and try to find new clothes without getting caught.

It's alright, you can get back to camp easily enough. You just need to cover your body in Earth Armor, and then keep yourself covered that way until you can change your clothes.

Stepping out of the river, you take a moment to let the sun dry you a bit, then prepare to create the armor. The only question is; how much should you use?

Shorts should be enough, so you fashion some out of stone. It's far from what you would call comfortable, but it serves its purpose, covering your lower body as you make your way back to camp, passing the sleeping Gava once more as you head for your tent.

Drawing closer to it, you suddenly hear a noise, and turn around to see Sansha, wide-eyed and red-cheeked. She turns away from you, and speaks in a somewhat embarrassed tone.

"G-good morning, Sei," she stammers. "What are you doing?"

"I took a bath, but I forgot my clothes," you explain, heading for your tent and retrieving your bag. You fish through it, locating an outfit that you can change into.

"I-I see," Sansha stammers, still seemingly embarrassed.

At that moment, you create a wall between the two of you out of Earth, giving yourself some privacy to remove the uncomfortable rock armor, and change into your clean clothes. Once that's done, you lower the wall, and Sansha turns back to face you, her cheeks still a bit pink.

"How'd you sleep?" you ask her in a friendly tone.

She takes a breath. "I slept great. Just..just great."

Sansha looks around, frowning. "Where's Lantana?"

"Training," you answer. "Maybe we should go check on her."

The two of you make your way down the river, approaching the spot where Lantana has spent the morning in training. As you draw closer, you see the Avatar moving toward the water, her back turned to the two of you as she grabs her shirt and takes it off, throwing it to the side before bending down and grabbing her pants.

Sticking around probably isn't a very good idea right now. You turn around, making your way back toward camp, Sansha by your side as the two of you walk away from the Avatar.

Sansha once again looks embarrassed, clearly having seen things this morning that she was not counting on.

The two of you return to camp to find Mauya emerging from her tent, letting out a yawn as she looks at the two of you.

"Good morning," she greets tiredly.

"Good morning," you greet Mauya with a smile.

She glances toward Sansha, a frown coming to her face. "What's with you?"

Looking over, you see that Sansha still looks rather embarrassed and uncomfortable, though her face has lost its red color. You guess that seeing everybody in the group other than Mauya half naked was more than she was expecting when she woke up this morning.

"I-I'm fine," she assures you, taking a deep breath.

"Are you sure?" Mauya asks her. "You seem kind of-"

"I'm fine!" Sansha insists, sighing. "So, when Lantana gets back, we should probably get going."

"Where is Lantana?" Mauya questions.

"Taking a bath," you answer.

Mauya blinks, looking at Sansha, than looking past the two of you and spotting Pengsong. She looks back at Sansha, then bursts into laughter.

Sansha turns as red as a tomato, while Mauya starts laughing again, actually hunching over as her whole body shakes with her sounds of amusement.

"You're just perving on the whole team today, aren't you?" Mauya teases.

Sansha looks down, her hands clenching into fists as her face somehow finds a way to become even redder. "Sei....."

"Relax," you tell her. "I'm just messing with you."

"Jerks...." Sansha sighs.

Mauya places a hand on her shoulder. "That's what friends do. Now come on, let's go find something to eat."

"Working on a book," you answer.

"A book?" the Avatar asks, seeming interested.

She comes to sit beside you, glancing down at the pages in your lap. You see her eyes roam over the words you've written, and she soon looks back up at you.

"Is this what you were doing in the library all of that time?" she inquires.

You nod.

"Hmm, never thought that was your kind of thing," she comments with a shrug. "But, you've always been full of surprises."

"How did training go?" you ask, changing the subject.

"Pretty well," she answers. "I wish I still had Rinzen to teach me, but she did give me what I need to teach myself. My Airbending's improving. Slowly, but still improving."

She looks ahead. "So, I've been thinking about yesterday. If it turns out Xiong really is alive, I want to find him."

"But, what about learning Firebending?" you ask.

She looks down. "I know, the Avatat's supposed to master all four elements. But he's also supposed to protect and preserve balance. So far, I've done a pretty poor job of that. I've run away and let Jungo and Kalana take more and more of the world. I can't keep running forever, and the world can't wait patiently for me to travel it and learn all four elements."

She looks up. "I may not be as strong as I could be, but I'm stronger than I was, and I have strong friends. We can't beat Kalana yet, but we can be a thorn in her side until we get strong enough. We'll find out if Xiong's still alive. If he is, I want to know why he changed sides. If we can get him to join us, he'll be a huge help against Kalana's forces. But, if we can't...."

A sad look comes to her face, and she lets out another sigh, this one of resignation. "Then we take him out, and Kalana loses one of her most valuable people. We can strike a serious blow, and who knows? In the meantime, maybe I'll learn Firebending."

"Alright," you tell her. "I'm with you."

Lantana smiles with gratitude, turning toward you and giving you a big hug. "Thank you, Sei. I knew I could count on you."

Not really, Sei was living the quiet life until now and he really hasn't thought about going back, especially since we have that bounty on us we would only bring danger to our family, friends and former neighbors. Since we've been facing death on a regular basis we have been building our strength to make sure we don't die amd taking it all in stride like a rock. Sei hasn't really thought about the future and I can't say what we will do for the future, plus we seem to be good at a lot of stuff save for fishing or making tea. Mostly I just want to help the people of the Earth Kingdom if we can and stop Kalana.

you know thinking about that, if we're wanting Sei to get stronger why don't we keep some rock weights on his arms and legs.

>>
>All these teasing moments with Sansha.

Please don't bully the normie, although it's indeed comedy gold so far.

>>932657

I think in the spirit of more realism, really heavy rock weights will strain the limb joints in the long run. A rock vest or unassisted full rock armor would be most effective for endurance/gains.
>>
>>932703
I believe Som has said that metal-bending isn't an option for a variety of reasons. As for lava-bending, that's a no go until we at least go somewhere where there's actually lava to bend. He has said that things like sand and mud bending are possible though. He also hasn't said anything about trace mineral bending, like manipulation of the calcium in bones, so that may be on the table.
>>
I really wanted metal bending but it's of the table, if anything we should just focus on improving our earthbending and bending sand or mud for whenever the need arises. We should also be training our body and sword skills
>>
>>932747
Sand would be the most useful, since we'll be in the desert sooner or later.
>>
>>932747
We should probably start trying to figure out how to use our earth-bending and our swordplay at the same time. Something like a slash of our sword would rip up earth to follow it.
>>932787
We're gonna need a lot of sand before we can even start practicing sand-bending, but that is a good idea.

"There should be a village just ahead," Lantana explains as the six of you make your way through the forest.

Sansha nods, her hands instinctively lowering to grab the hilts of her swords. "So, how are we handling this?"

"I want to capture at least one soldier," Lantana answers, looking up from the map she's studying. "If more people tell us that Xiong's alive, I'll take it a lot more seriously."

"Why does it matter who's in charge?" Mauya questions. "We need to stop them either way, whether they're a friend of yours or not."

Lantana looks back at her, frowning. "Because I have to know, Mauya."

"Alright, so we'll keep at least one alive," Sansha sums up. "But how should we do this? Fighting in the middle of the village could mean that civilians get caught in the crossfire."

"We'll try to lure as many of them out of the village as possible," Lantana answers. "We'll try and draw them into the woods."

"Lantana, you can get their attention," you suggest. "The rest of us can hide in the trees and ambush the guards when they come over."

The girl nods. "Sounds like a plan. We're almost there, so you all need to get ready."

Soon, you spot a large wall, seemingly acting as protection to the village that you're approaching. An archway at the end of the road provides the only way in or out of the village, and you can see two guards standing in front of it, as well as archers patrolling the top of the walls.

"Okay, get ready," Lantana tells you.

The three of you (plus the animals) head for the trees, with yourself, Sansha, and Mauya making little to no sound, and the animals making quite the ruckus. You cringe a bit, almost certain that somebody heard that, but as you look toward the village, you see no reactions from the guards or the people patrolling the walls.

Lantana slowly moves down the road toward the village, stopping in her tracks when she starts to get close. You aren't sure what's wrong, and before you can ask, you hear a voice whisper in your ear.

"Don't move."

You feel someone right behind you, and, glancing down, you see a pair of blades held to your throat.

Mauya and Sansha turn toward you, each preparing to strike, but the person behind you orders them to stop.

"Any sudden moves, and I kill your friend," he promises. "Now, you're going to tell me why you're sneaking around out here."

"Sneaking?" Mauya asks. "We weren't sneaking, we were hiding."

"From what?" the man behind you demands.

"From you," Sansha growls.

You feel the man behind you tense up. "So, Kalana sent you, did she?"

Sansha and Mauya blink, sharing a confused look.

"Of course not," he spits.

"Well, neither do we," Sansha insists. "So let him go."

"If you aren't working for her, why were you sneaking around here?" the man demands. "Seems pretty suspicious to me."

"Why are you sneaking around here?" Mauya counters. "That's not suspicious?"

"I'm keeping watch for people like you," the man explains. "Now answer my question."

"We thought Kalana controlled this village," Sansha explains. "We were planning to ambush her soldiers."

You can hear the man behind you chuckle. "No, Kalana doesn't control this village anymore. We took if back, and we aren't letting her take it again."

"None of us are wearing Kalana's uniforms," you point out. "And there's only three of us. Why would we come try to take your village?"

"I don't know, the Lieutenant is getting desperate?" the man guesses. "We've been hitting his supply routes pretty hard, lately, maybe this is all he had to spare."

"Or maybe you're being a paranoid moron," Mauya offers.

"Watch it," he warns. "I've still got your f-woah!"

The swords move away from your throat, and you turn around to see the man being lifted up by Pengsong, who holds the back of his shirt in his mouth. The Elephant Mandrill shakes his head, throwing the man into the air. Gava waves his massive tail, and a gust of wind slams him against a large tree.

The man slumps to the ground, blades leaving his hands, and as he tries to reach for them, a jet of water slams him against the tree again, freezing him to it and keeping him from moving.

"HEL-" he starts before Mauya freezes his mouth shut.

"I'm getting tired of your voice," she tells him angrily.

"You alright, Sei?" Sansha asks, placing a hand on your shoulder.

You answer with a nod, and look toward the road as you hear a voice ask what that noise was. You spot Lantana and the two guards racing toward you, and all three look shocked when they come across the man frozen to a tree.

"Dammit, Hue, what happened?" one of the guards questions.

They're wearing red armor, complete with helmets, and each carry a sword and hide shield.

"Your crazy friend here attacked us," Mauya growls.

"Did you tell him you weren't with Kalana?" the guard asks.

The three of you nod.

One of the guards puts his hand on his head, while the other shakes his.

"Unfreeze him," Lantana tells Mauya.

The guards shake their heads, and one speaks up.

"No, let him stay like this for a while," he instructs. "He needs to learn a lesson about acting like a fool. Now, miss Lantana, we promised to take you to our leader, I assume your friends will be coming as well?"

"That sounds good," you say, voicing your opinion on the matter.

"The leader of your village?" Sansha questions. "I'd like to know how to took this place back from Kalana."

"He isn't the leader of this village," the guard to your right explains. "Not technically, anyway. He leads our group."

"Your group?" Mauya asks.

"The Laobukepo," the guard explains. "We're warriors fighting against Kalana and her lackeys."

Sansha grins. "Well, this is a pleasant surprise. We came looking for a fight, but we might have found some allies."

"We'll see," Mauya says a bit skeptically.

"I'm sure Yong will be willing to answer any questions that you may have," the guard to your left says. "Now come with us, we need to get back to our post."

The guards lead your group out of the forest, making their way toward the village. Once they reach the archway, they instruct you to head for the large building at the back of the village.

Your group passes through, finding the village to be in pretty decent shape, all things considered. The buildings are all standing (though some look to be in the process of being repaired) and the people look healthy. You spot many people wearing armor similar to that of the guards, some interacting with the villagers, others seemingly keeping watch. You spot a few attacking training dummies, or sparring with one another as well.

They seem like capable fighters. You can see how they could give some of Kalana's people trouble.

As you approach the large building, you find two guards waiting in front of it, each one studying your group as you approach.

"Haven't seen you before," the guard to the left comments as you reach them. "What brings you here?"

"Your friends told us to come speak to Yong," Lantana explains.

"Yong is busy training new recruits," the guard explains. "What do you need?"

"We're enemies of Kalana," the Avatar explains. "And we wanted to see if there's any way we can help each other out."

The guard to your right studies Lantana with skepticism. "You? You don't look much like fighters."

Sansha rests her hands on the hilts of her blades. "I'd be happy to show you what I'm capable of."

Her tone is irritated, almost angry. You suppose she feels insulted by their comment.

The guards stare at her for a moment before shrugging.

"Well, like I said, Yong's busy," the guard to your left tells everyone. "Come back a little later."

"Our time's sort of limited," Lantana explains. "The sooner we can talk to him, the better."

The guard stares at her. "He's training warriors to help us fight Kalana. What's so important that he should be interrupted right now?"

Lantana lets out a sigh, clearly not wanting to have to pull this card. "Because the Avatar wants to speak with him."

The guards look at each other, then burst out laughing. "You?! The Avatar?!"

>Continued

>>934368
Sighing once again, Lantana launches herself into the air on a pillar of Earth, flipping several times before descending and kicking her legs downward. You feel a gust of wind as she slows her descent via Airbending, landing in front of the two guards. To further prove her point, she opens her canteen, drawing the water from it and waving it around in front of their faces before putting it away.

"Your boss will probably want to talk to her," you remark after Lantana's demonstration.

"Y-yeah, probably," the guard to your right agrees, turning and walking to the door. "This way, please."

Stepping inside the building, you find yourself in a large room devoid of any furniture other than a few weapon and armor racks. Over a dozen men and women, some looking younger than you and your friends, and some looking older than your parents, practice strikes with various weapons under the watchful eye of the man you assume to be Yong.

He's a man of average height, but with a muscular build. His eyes are a light brown, and his face is marked with a few small scars that look to have mostly faded some time ago. His hair is short, and black in color, and he has no facial hair. His armor resembles that of the guards rather strongly, but the armor on his shoulders is much more prominent, and his outfit appears to be complete with a blue cape.

As your group enters, he looks away from the trainees, his expression irritated as he addresses the guard.

"What's the meaning of this interruption?" he demands in a commanding voice.

"These people wished to speak with you, sir," the guard answers. "This girl...."

He motions to Lantana. "She's the Avatar."

Several of the trainees stop what they're doing, turning their attention to your friend, who appears distinctly uncomfortable with all of the staring.

"The Avatar?" Yong demands, moving around the group of trainees and approaching your group. "You're certain?"

The guard nods. "Yes. She was able to bend Earth, Air, and Water."

Yong stares at Lantana, a grin slowly coming to his face. He gives a joyous laugh. "Wonderful! The Spirits truly smile on our cause if you've come! Please, come with me."

He leads your group to a doorway to your right, and you pass through it to find a room full of tables and chairs, many of which are occupied by members of the Laobukepo, who drink, laugh, argue, eat, and in some cases, arm-wrestle.

Yong leads the way to an empty table, and shouts for someone to bring some water for everyone. He takes a seat, and gestures for the rest of you to do the same.

One by one, you and your friends sit down, and Yong grins as he looks around at everyone.

"Welcome, all of you," he says cheerfully. "It's an honor to have the Avatar here, and I assume that, if you three are travelling with her, you must be capable fighters yourselves. I am Yong, leader of the Laobukepo, and you are?"

"Sei," you introduce. "The one who killed Jungo."

"Really?" Yong asks, eyes widening and his voice dripping with surprise and awe. "Amazing. It's an honor to have you here as well."

He looks toward the others, waiting for them to introduce themselves.

"Sansha," your friend speaks up. "Warrior."

"Mauya," your other friend introduces. "Waterbender and healer."

"A pleasure to meet all of you," Yong says, leaning back in his chair as cups of water are placed in front of everybody. "Now, let's get down to business. Why have you come here?"

"We were planning on ambushing Kalana's soldiers here," Sansha explains. "We didn't know you'd taken this village from her."

"The first of many," Yong tells her. "We've been launching attacks against the local lieutenants supply lines and forces. Soon, we'll take him down and start liberating villages in the area."

"Do you think you have the numbers for that?" you question.

Yong smiles. "That's why we haven't liberated every village in the region, my friend. Each one of my men is worth five of that bitch Kalana's, but we're still heavily outnumbered. We're recruiting more people where we can, but, in the meantime, we'll have to play the long game dealing with the local Lieutenant. We'll keep disrupting his supplies, ambushing his patrols, scouts, and reinforcements, and slowly bleed him out."

Sansha smirks. "Not bad. Glad to see we aren't the only ones fighting Kalana around here."

Yong shrugs. "Most of the people who would have opposed Kalana died trying to stop her army from taking this area. Most of the others think she's invincible, and that there's no stopping her army. I say there is. Every person fighting her is much better than the cowards working for her. She's living on borrowed time."

"You know," Lantana says, grabbing her cup of water. "We might be able to help you with this "Lieutenant" you keep talking about. You want him gone, and he might have some answers for me. If we work together, we can have him out of here in no time."

If Kalana finds out we are getting a army she will have two options, make a forced conscription of all the villages she conquered.

We should find allies and meanwhile try to sabotage her attemps to get more terrain.

You guys still got...syrup. Yeah, You got syrup. Also prostitutes I think. Buck up.
>>
>>934895
Well yeah
No one wants to get conscripted
But if men get conscripted, why are women excluded in that?
What happened to equality?
Just because you're a women doesn't mean that you'll be less effective in the army and maybe it would hurt a family to lose their mother, but losing a father would hurt just as much.
>>
>>934933
I mean they were spouting stuff like "When I asked for equality, I didn't mean this." like being treated as an equal didn't mean we'd all have to make the same sacrifices.
The main reason women are excluded is a bit of a holdover from previous generations, but it still serves some purpose. Men do tend to be better soldiers across the board, physically and mentally.

With that, he leaves the table and heads for the door.
