Star Wars Jedi Lord Quest Thread #3

You are Kraton Reed, Jedi Lord of Telos IV

At a time when the Republic was merely a shadow of its former self and the Sith terrorized much of the Galaxy, you chose to strike back. Breaking from protocol, you gathered together a small group of likeminded Jedi Knights and raised your own army. You launched a crusade against the Sith Empire and managed to liberate the Outer Rim world of Telos IV. The people of this world now look upon you as their Lord and their protector in these dark times…

You’ve had little time to rest on your laurels. Not long after establishing yourself as a Jedi Lord and you’ve already found yourself in the midst of a desperate battle against an invading Sith Army. The cruel and tyrannical Lord Verus raised a massive force against you, and even now your forces are courageously attempting to beat them back.

At first the battle did not go in your favor, as the Sith Fleet tore through your own and landed most of it’s ground forces on the surface. However, your own warriors put up a valiant defense while the rest of your fleet bought you enough time to stage a boarding action against Verus’ flagship.

You and your followers fought their way through Verus’ ship and reached the bridge, where you personally dueled the Sith Lord. Verus was a savage opponent, yet you calmly fended off his onslaught until the Sith Lord was finally struck down. Now the battle rages on as you stand before the slain Sith Lord

Kraton Reed turns his back on Verus' corpse and strides up to the Command Deck where his followers lie.

"Your Lord is defeated. I will grant you all this one opportunity to join us, otherwise you can share in his fate!"

Several of the Sith's soldiers immediately fire upon you, but you deflect their shots with your sabers while your own commandos return fire. Those who aren't cut down either drop their weapons and give up or flee from you in terror. Many of the bridge hands respond similarly, with many either abandoning their posts or retreating as you assume control of the bridge.

After asserting dominance, Reed approaches one of the Bridge hands as he nervously operates a communications array.

"You! Patch me in with the rest of this fleet so I can demand it's surrender!"
>"r-Right away my lord!"

Over the ensuing chaos, you hear Trask's laughter boom over. The Trandoshan Jedi Knight joins your side and slaps you on the back.

>"That's our leader! Nice work Lord Reed!"

Suddenly Trask's comlink begins to vibrate and beep. He snatches the device in his claw and listens in for a moment before excitedly addressing you

>"When our Ion Cannon disabled this ship it must've thrown the whole Sith Fleet into chaos! Our fleet is starting a counter attack!"

>Roll 1d100 for your fleet's counterattack!
>Will accept Best of first 2 rolls, with only 1 roll allotted per Anon

Welcome back to those who have been following and those who might be joining us for the first time!

I'm going to go over the rules briefly for newcomers.

When I ask for a roll, it will almost always be a 1d100 roll. Occasionally said rolls may get a bonus, or a penalty.

I will count the first two rolls that I see that are from two different Anons.

Crit Success on a 100 or a Crit Failure on a 1 will override but ONLY if it is one of the first two rolls from two different Anons.

Sometimes I won't ask for a roll, usually because something is just very easy to be pulled off.

You are generally free to decide what Kraton Reed does at any time, though this thread I decided I'd try something a little different. I thought this time I could try to write out a small prompt or list of choices to help give you Anons an idea of what to do in certain situations. We'll see how that goes in what comes next!

>Minor Success

The view from the Command Deck gives you a clear view of what happens next, as several of your Hammerhead Cruisers burst forward toward the Sith Fleet.

Numerous squadrons of Aurek Starfighters race forward, tearing through the swarms of Sith Interceptors and striking at the larger Sith vessels in their moment of vulnerability. You spot one such vessel get torn nearly completely in half by a swift bombing run just before the bridge hand calls out—

>”Lord Jedi! w-We have managed to fix the communications array! I am putting you in contact with Verus’ commanders now…”

The large console emits a series of blue holograms which appear before you, each one displaying a man or woman in a decorated military uniform of one kind or another.

>”Lord Verus! You must pull back out of that Ion Cannon’s range before… who are you?”

>How does Kraton Reed go about demanding these Sith military commanders’ surrender?

Kraton Reed coldly stares down each of the military officers before raising a hand up behind himself.

He summons the corpse of Lord Verus into his grasp and raises him up by a head tendril of his before quickly igniting the white saber of his Guard Shoto.

“Lord Verus is no more.”

In one clean strike you slice the lord’s head cleanly from his body, eliciting cries of terror from some and gagging noises from others within the crowd.

“His evil is at an end. Now I am giving each of you this one chance, surrender your forces now or you will meet the same fate as him.”

The lot of them fall quiet for a few moments, several of them completely stunned by your display.

>”My name is Commander Stryker.”

Your attention is immediately turned toward an older Human officer who is easily distinguished by his grey hair and by the simple black eye patch he wears.

>”I am commanding the army currently assaulting your Ion Cannon. Tell the men at your fort to cease fire so I can pull my men back. We will personally discuss the fate of my men and the terms of my surrender afterwards. Are these acceptable terms to you?”

A few of the other officers balk at him

>”STRYKER! If you don’t take out that Ion Cannon our fleet will—“

>”You are in no position to give me orders.”

A different officer snarls at the one eyed commander before turning about and shouting at someone off screen

>”We will NOT surrender! I am assuming control of this operation!”

>”YOU? Why should we follow you!?”

As the various officers fall into bickering amongst themselves, the man who identified himself as Commander Stryker quietly stares at you, evidently awaiting an answer

A different officer with several noticeable cybernetic plates on his body growls at Stryker before twisting around to face you

INTENSIFY FORWARD FIREPOWER
>>209987
Oops. Sorry Anon, I misread your action a bit.
Considering how high you guys rolled though I can have a little bit of both going on
You order your starfighter squadrons to intercept the Buzzard fighters as they make their attack run while giving orders to your captains to intensify forward firepower on the Sith Fleet as it turns about to attack the Destroyer.

You watch as several of the Sith vessels struggle to meet your own fleet’s barrage as the momentum of the battle seems to slowly shift into your favor.

Not a moment later, the droning BUZZ of the Sith’s star fighters begins to approach. Your eyes widen as several rockets light up the sky only for a show of blaster fire to gun down said missiles before they could crash through your unshielded observation deck. Immediately after this several squadrons of your Aurek Starfighters blaze into view and engage the Sith in dogfighting.

“Trask, men! We’re leaving!”

>”SIR YES SIR!”

You lead your boarding party down the hallways as you contact Kota and Arnet’s team, instructing them to abandon ship as well.

Upon reaching the escape pods, you start to feel the massive Destroyer shake and groan more loudly as it suffers from the battle outside.

Waiting a few more minutes, your Jedi comrades and the surviving commandos meet up with you and you all quickly exit the ship just as it seems as if the hull may shatter apart.

As your escape pod jettisons outwards into the raging battle, you and your band see an amazing sight just over the horizon.

In the distance, you spot a fleet exit out of Hyperspace. You do not immediately recognize most of the vessels, but you do see markings that clearly denote that they belong to the Republic Navy.

Arnet raises his finger and points at one vessel in particular that charges ahead of the fleet straight into the battle

>”It’s the Raider Corvette! Master Charr has returned, and with reinforcements!”

With the battle already beginning to shift in your favor, the arrival of the Republic Navy has only guaranteed your victory. The battle continues for only another twenty minutes before the last of the Sith Fleet’s vessels are either captured, destroyed, or driven from the system.

Agaisnt the odds, Lord Reed’s forces have managed to maintain their hold over Telos IV!

The Corvette pulls you into it’s tractor beam and scoops you up along with your comrades.

When you exit the pod, you find the wily Correllian Jedi waiting for you with a large grin plastered on her face and with scores of your men waiting to greet you.

>”And here I was afraid we’d miss the whole battle! Good to see you in one piece Kraton!”

>Jaina Charr has rejoined your forces!

Amidst the cheering and celebrating that goes on around you, Jaina immediately joins your side and greets the other knights who participated in your strike mission.

As exhilarating as it all is, you don’t have long to bask in your newfound victory before you receive a message from your comlink.

>”Lord Reed, this is Commander Skrillex! I have been communicating with a Sith Commander who says he wants to speak with you as soon as possible. Whoever this Stryker is, his forces have begun to entrench themselves in the foothills beyond the Ion Cannon Fortress.”

After receiving this dispatch, you suddenly notice Jaina Charr tapping you on your shoulder

>”Kraton! I know this is a bit sudden, but you need to meet with the Jedi General who came to assist us. This could be incredibly important, we might need his help if we’re going to continue to hold onto Telos IV.”

You open your mouth to speak only for another transmission on your comlink to draw your attention away

>”Lord Reed, this is Lo Rai. I am pleased to say that the Sith forces that attacked Citadel Station have been all but wiped out! I am currently seeing to it that all of their last holdouts are being eradicated. However, there is something I would like to speak with you about at your earliest convenience. Please come see me down here when you can.”

Not more than an hour after saving the entire planet, and already it seems as if Kraton Reed has more battles to fight.

What will Kraton Reed do next?

>Deal with Commander Stryker and negotiate the surrender of his forces
>Meet with the Jedi General that the Republic sent to aid you

While I'm writing that out, I just wanted to remind ya'll that you were still free to flesh out those other two nondescript Jedi Knights under Kraton Reed's command.

I recall several Anons saying they wanted one of them to be pic related

I am perfectly cool with that, but if you all had any other suggestions for her and the other Jedi I would be open to hearing them

There is also the question of Lord Reed's personal fighting style that I had mentioned last thread.

You are all free to decide on exactly what Lightsaber Style Reed prefers to use. I would take into consideration what this style is whenever he is in combat for now on to add a little depth to his personal battles.

For those who are not well versed in what the lightsaber combat styles are like, then this is a brief overview you can skim through.

Of course, if there's not that much interest in deciding such things I can certainly fill in the blanks myself.

Kraton Reed explains that the battle for Telos IV isn’t quite over yet until he addresses the situation on the ground. He tells his comrades to celebrate along with the troops while he requisitions a shuttle and a starfighter escort

It’s not too long after that Reed approaches a fort nestled within a mountain range in Telos IV’s northern hemisphere. From what you can see, the fort looks largely intact though there is a great deal of mechanical rubble and smoke draping over the mountainside from the battle that was just recently fought.

The shuttle sets down just at the foot of said mountain where Reed meets with Commander Skrillex and a retinue of his soldiers

>”Lord Reed! We held out against the Sith forces as best we could sir, and made them pay for every last inch they took! Now all that’s left is to deal with Stryker and the rest of his men.”

Meeting in the middle of no man’s land in between the mountain and the foothills that Stryker’s men had only just begun to reinforce, you wait another half hour before several Sith speeders zoom over to your position.

Commander Skrillex speaks up once more as they encroach your position

>"Our estimates put the size of Stryker's forces at somewhere around a hundred thousand. Including various armored divisions as well as infantry. Our scouts report that it looked as if he was digging in trenches in those foothills in the distance."

You see at the head of the approaching entourage, flanked by several battle scarred bodyguards, is the man you had spoken with on the bridge of the Sith Destroyer. The speeders stop roughly 15 yards away from you and the soldiers within them disembark and cautiously begin to approach you.

>”Kraton Reed is it?”

The grizzled commander marches forward, staring you directly in the eye with his one remaining eye.

>”I am ready to hear your terms before presenting my own."

>What are Kraton Reed's terms of surrender for Commander Stryker and his forces?
>>
>>210211
That he tell us everything he knows of the other Sith, I forget her name, and let down his weapons and join us. If not, then just tell us our shit, leave the weapons and armor and go.

Stryker falls silent for a moment before cocking an eyebrow at you

>”Just like that?”

The Commander trades glances with his lieutenants before addressing you again.

>”If that’s all it really takes, then fine, but I will have my own troops see to it that you hold up your end of the bargain. We will disarm in groups over a period of time, and those groups that disarm will be allowed free passage off of Telos IV. If at any time you give me reason to suspect that my soldiers aren’t freely leaving the planet then my remaining forces will cause trouble for you.”

The commander appears very skeptical of your offer, and is apparently very caring about the well being of the people under his command.

>”As for joining you…. well, I don’t really know what to say to that. Why SHOULD I join you? What’s your angle anyway? Are you just trying to carve up an empire of your own or what?"

>What does Kraton Reed say to try to convince Commander Stryker to join him?
>>
>>210225
A Drunken Fist styled form of Niman is certainly something different from what I was expecting.

To be honest, I'm kind of at a loss as to how I would translate that into a mechanical effect during game. If it's something that you're really interested in, could you give me suggestions as to how that would play out? What situations in a fight would I confer a bonus to Reed's combat rolls for using Zui Quan inspired Form VI?

Maybe have something where he HAS to be drunk in battle, making him a great fighter but not so great at generally everything else on account of being sloshed?
>>
>>210235
These turbulent times deserve a calm mind. Shit's fucked we feel that the current system is fucky. We want to carve out our own little empire, free of the ways that drove us to such a state in the first place, A better world.

Also emphasize that should they return, that Sith lady would be quite pissed... unless no one else knows about his "betrayal" then don't push that

>>210225
>>210243
Also seconding this. Maybe like, lull the enemy into a false sense of security, look like an idiot, but have purpose in your stumbling.

Like, when your flat on your back and the guy is poised to stab you, quip up or something into a power attack?

We could take a stim or get actually hammered. Minus to ground forces and space fights, but all the bonuses to lightsaber combat.

"... Join me and we'll build a better tomorrow."

Commander Stryker appears to be at a loss for words. A few moments pass as a cool wind breezes by all of you.

>"A new Empire huh...?"

Commander Stryker stares down at the rank insignia on his uniform. Slowly his gaze curls into a determined scowl as he looks back up at you

>"I have only one other term for you then. For almost twenty years I served under Lord Verus. I saw firsthand what he did to people of Mirial. I helped him maintain control over the world, there's a lot of blood on my hands..."

Throwing caution to the wind, Stryker, strides up to Lord Reed and asks him
>"If I agree to serve under you, then swear to me that Mirial we'll be a part of that better world of yours. Help me make sure no Verus rules over those people ever again."

I can get behind this. So what I'm imagining is, Kraton Reed get's really hammered and mechanically that will translate into straight up bonuses to combat but negatives to pretty much any other kind of tests he might try to make while intoxicated.
I can make that work. Might have to re watch some old Hong Kong movies though to get in the right mind for writing out combat next though.

Commander Stryker raises his hand up to Kraton, and the Jedi Lord happily shakes his hand as the two agree to band together

>Commander Stryker has joined Kraton Reed's forces!

>"Let's build a better empire together then, Lord
Reed."

After working out the terms from there, it is roughly determined that Stryker will be able to convince a fair amount of his own forces to stay with him under his command as he leaves the Sith Empire behind entirely to serve under Lord Reed. Many of them will in fact leave to return to the Sith Empire, or at the very least to return to their homes, but the addition of this new military officer along with his men and war materials will no doubt be a great boon to your future conquests.

Fuckin' sweet bro.

Maybe when we're sufficiently fuckin' hammered Stryker can over see our military, as he knows the ins and outs of an Empire co-ordinated offense.

Maybe we can even include punching and kick in our proposed drunk saber fight style? Like, catch the bitch with a shoto saber then *WHAM* right the fucking nose or better yet kick 'em in the balls

I think the only critique I have is the whole inventory thing, like, we can't be left with vague numbers if we're planning an offense you know? As you leave the two commanders behind and march back towards your shuttle, you reach again for your comlink and call up Jaina Charr. You tell her you are nearly finished with your business on the surface and that you would like for her to stall the general a bit longer as you go speak with Lo Rai

>”What’s so important that you need to talk to him? Eh forget it, I’ll have everything ready for you when you’re ready Kraton.”

You seem to recall, as your shuttle takes flight, that Jaina was not around for when Lo Rai had his… ‘outburst’ after discovering the Sith Holocron. No doubt someone will fill her in shortly…

Your shuttle races on through the sky alongside a pair of starlighter escorts. The sun is beginning to dip over the horizon now as you fly over the floating urban landscape of Citadel Station.

It looks as if there is a fair amount of debris and destruction littering the streets, with smoldering Sith shuttles and various flaming tanks and speeders dotting the landscape. Even so, none of the damage looks like it is anything that will require a serious amount of attention to fix. It would appear your forces did a splendid job of defending Citadel Station

Your shuttle touches down in the middle of a long catwalk in what looks to be some sort of entertainment district, with various empty shops and cantinas all within view. You can sense Lo Rai is near, so you do not waste much time in traversing down the lonesome road toward him.

Almost immediately, you happen upon no less than a dozen corpses of what appear to be Sith-aligned soldiers. Several of their bodies have been stabbed and dismembered, while many more have curiously been charred. You also notice a fair amount of black ash lining the walls of the adjacent buildings when you hear a voice call out to you.

>”Lord Reed! I am over here!”

You spot the young Arkanian as he steps out of a collapsed dwelling. He greets you with a smile as he waves to you and walks over.

>”Congratulations on your victory! Word has already spread about your duel with Verus, they say it was really something to behold. I wish I could have seen it myself!"

Curiously, Lo Rai appears to be acting much more like his old self as of now. He’s not shouting at you like before, and his general demeanor is much calmer.

>” Now I realize that you must be very busy at the moment, but there was a lot that I needed to talk to you about. I am going to be very brief, because I know that you have important matters to deal with. It is about… my exile…"

To your surprise, Lo Rai suddenly drops to one knee in front of you and, reaching inside his robes, brandishes the Telosian Sith Holocron

>”My Lord, I want you to have this. Please, allow me to stay here. I would like to continue to fight under your command while researching the Sith and their secrets. I must have appeared like a raving lunatic before but I know that what I said held some truth. Please Kraton, don’t send me away…”

"Very well. Know that you have invited suspicion on yourself for looking into this power.”

You reach out and grasp the Holocron, giving it an unamused scowl before pocketing it away.

“After I’ve personally made sure that you are well again, then you may have this back. Until then, you will be staying here with me."

Lo Rai smiles joyfully up at you

>”THANKY YOU! Thank you Lord Reed! I swear by the Force that you will not regret this!"

He seems positively ecstatic. You honestly weren’t expecting such an excited reaction from him, but he appears to be incredibly pleased even after having the Holocron taken from him

>"My conduct earlier was disgraceful, I shall endeavor as hard as I can to prove my loyalty. Call upon me whenever you have need of me"

“Very well. May the Force be with you Lo Rai.”

>”May the Force be with you Kraton.”

You turn away from him back to your shuttle as he turns away to go rejoin the men under his command. After entering your shuttle, you are contacted once more by Jaina Charr, who asks if you will be arriving soon?

You relay that you are on your way back up to the fleet as you speak. While your shuttle begins to take flight, you ask what the general mood is like on the command bridge.

>”Well we’re currently not on the bridge, we’re down in the hangar. It’s a bit of a mess right now, lots of traffic. Soldiers marching in and out, engineers running all over trying to fix things, and officers barking orders over it all. Everyone seems to be in a good mood though after kicking those Sith out that’s for sure!"

Soon your shuttle carries you back up into orbit as it races past your flee and through the wrecked remains of the destroyed Sith Fleet until you find yourself flying into the hanger of a massive ship bearing Republic markings.

You’re not entirely certain what model or class it is, though it certainly appears to serve as a capital ship of some sort.

The shuttle lands inside the large hanger and you step outside to find it buzzing with activity as various people on the flight deck attend to the scores of star fighters and shuttle craft that are flying in and out.

You glance around and soon spot Jaina standing about fifty yards ahead beside Kota and Arnet. Directly in front of them, flanked by a handful of military officers, stands a man you’ve never seen before who is dressed in the robes of a Jedi.

He appears to be a Human, and a muscular one at that, with short dark hair and a serious stare. When you march over closer you notice that he appears to be looking very intently at Jaina as she continues to talk to him. You also notice, standing just behind the Jedi, a young teenage girl with pale white skin and long white hair. If not for the lightsaber hanging from her belt, and for the fact that you can sense the Force in her, you might not have recognized her as a Jedi at all. It would appear that she is this Jedi General’s padawan…

>”Eh? Oh excellent.”

The Jedi general turns away from Jaina and marches forward to meet you with his padawan in tow. Stopping just a few yards away, the two of them respectfully bow their heads to you as the Jedi Master speaks up in a deep voice.

>”Master Reed, my name is Sun Vike. On behalf of Supreme Chancellor Renarus and the rest of the High Council, I congratulate you on your victory.”

The name immediately conjures up an image of the old Jedi General. Avix Renarus has served on the High Council for decades, but if he has become Supreme Chancellor then that could not have happened more than a month or so ago.

Just read through this thread + the last few threads. Really liking it so far.

Mind if I submit an idea for one of the remaining nondescript Jedi Knight companions?

>Name: Janus
>Mirialan
>Lightsaber style is about evasion, defense, and fluidity of motion. Whatever attacks aren't dodged are redirected or blocked.
>Lets his opponents wear themselves down and flows with their attacks. Waits for an opening and exploits it. Overall it's like a more acrobatic, physically taxing Soresu, with some Makashi elements of precision.
>Formless, shapeless; like water.
>Lighthearted and diplomatic, Janus is often the one who tries to lighten the mood of the room when things get too serious; steadfast in his pursuit of the Jedi way. He taunts his opponents in battle to try to throw them off.
>Has had a hand in educating the Mirialan refugees in the ways of the Force and the Jedi code. Worried that their oppression under Verus might have planted dark seeds in them.
>Eager to take on a Padawan from the refugees.

From what I gather she's a Chiss who's fond of Makashi. Do we know what time period this is set in, exactly? From what I know the Chiss have never been a big part of galactic affairs, and have very little involvement in the Jedi Order.

>>215486
The beginning of the hyperspace War. I think.

>>215538
The Hammerhead cruisers have been described as thousands of years old IIRC, and Citadel Station is a thing, so i thought this would be set some time after the Jedi Civil War. Very mysterious.

Well, aside from origin, another important aspect of her character would be motivation. Why did she break away from the Order and join Lord Reed in the first place? Maybe her Chiss instincts drove her to seek power where the Order would deny her ambitions? Maybe it's the opposite, and she's keeping an eye on Kraton with the intention of reporting back to the Council in case anything goes bad.

Chiss are easily one of my favorite species in Star Wars, though I know having one appear raises a few questions what with them being a reclusive people compared to most.

What I had imagined concerning her backstory was that she could have possibly been the daughter of a pair of Chiss Exiles. Two members of the Chiss species who argued that the Chiss Ascendency should play a more active role in galactic affairs, and thus were banished for being vocal about their radical beliefs.

The Republic agreed to grant them political asylum, and it was discovered not long afterwards that their child was Force Sensitive and from there was sent to become a Jedi.

Owing to such a legacy, I imagine that this Chiss Jedi inherited a curiosity in galactic affairs and a wanderlust of sorts, one that she saw an opportunity in satisfying by abandoning the shrinking Republic and joining Reed in his crusade.

That's the general idea that I was coming up with for her any how. If people like it I could use that, or if anyone has any other suggestions I'm open to them.

Starting up again, hope ya'll are ready!

He smiles briefly as you return his bow and address him

>"I can only hope so. From what I understand these sectors have been under Sith control for far too long. We have our work cut out for us."

Sun Vike gestures toward the young pale skinned girl beside him.

>"This is Fianna, my Padawan learner. I have trained her for many years now, and I expect it won't be too many more before she becomes a Knight herself."

She shows little emotion in her gaze as she respectfully and silently bows her head to you

>"Now then, if you’ll follow me this way we can sit down and discuss strategy together, among other things…"

Sun Vike leads you all out of the bustling hangar and down a large corridor. The interior of the ship seems quite spacious, and with so many soldiers and sailors walking about the place almost feels like it’s own bustling city.

>"This ship is the RNF Stalwart, a Valor-class Cruiser. It served in several key battles in the Great Galactic War and the conflicts that followed."

Kota Vam audibly balks at Sun Vike as you all ascend the stairs together

>"The Great Galactic War?! That was over two thousand years ago. Where did the Republic even find this ship?"

Master Vike's apprentice answers in a monotone voice

>"In a dry dock on Kuat, where it was sitting for the past several centuries. It's a lot easier for the military to recommission older ships than it is to build new ones, especially at the rate the Sith can destroy them."

Sun Vike grimly nods his head

>"My apprentice is right, but as old as it might be the Stalwart is still a force to be reckoned with. It was only just a month ago that this vessel first served at the Battle of Corulag, where--"

As Vike continues on, you suddenly notice your knight Jaina Charr tugging at your side as she subtly pulls you back and whispers

>"There's something you need to know before we sit down with Vike and Fianna."

You listen in closely to Jaina while Vike appears to be monetarily wrapped up in his story

>"That Raider Corvette is a thing of beauty. We were able to evade or fight our way through every Sith patrol that came our way. We made it Coruscant with barely a scratch, but after we got there..."

She glances back at the Jedi General and his Padawan before continuing

>"The High Council wasn't exactly happy to see me. About half of them assumed that we were going to end up joining the Sith or that we were all falling to the Dark Side or some crap. When I explained to them just how successful we've been a few of the Council members started to listen, but even after that getting them to help was like pulling teeth."

>"--and here we are."

A large blast door opens up to a lobby room. In the center is a long table with a hologram device displaying the planet and the fleets currently hovering it.

Jaina whispers to you one last time before you follow the rest of the group inside

>”I’m not sure where Vike stands, but hopefully he’s not like most of the Council…"

Master Vike takes a seat at the far end of the table alongside his military officers while his padawan remains standing by his side.

>"Now then, explain to me how you and your forces have been holding up against the Sith? And what will you do now that Telos IV has been secured?"

>What does Lord Reed say to the Jedi General Sun Vike?

(2/2)
>>
>>219386
>>219406
Schizer. This is a sticky situation.

>"My plans for Telos are the same as they have always been. I will protect its people from the menace of the Sith. I will give them the care and guidance that the Council has been unable to afford them. You say Telos is secured, but it is is surrounded by enemies, and not the typical pirates and raiders it's dealt with in the past. Telos will not *be* secured until the Sith fleets are no longer a brief Hyperspace jaunt away."
>Intentionally ignore his question about our forces. We want to try to bait him into revealing his intentions for Telos before we give him critical information like that.
>>
>>219457
I don't think we're going to be betrayed by another Jedi.
>>219406
We're off to an excellent start here. The forces under my command have taken on a Sith many
times their number and we've come out with a hearty success. The enemy's sheer numbers, however, make a military conflict difficult. The key to victory here will be unconventional methods; infiltration, misdirection and sabotage along with conversion of enemy forces if possible. I've already started on the last with a commander Stryker. I can introduce you later if you like.

On Telos IV here, control of the planet was weak enough that a criminal element was allowed to exist, a "Bwuno the Hutt." As the stereotype goes, he's rumored to have been involved in underground activities such swoop bike racing, illicit substances and slavery. This criminality may be the cover needed for our agents to operate, despite obvious distastefulness.
>>
>>219495
*taken on a Sith fleet sorry.
>>
>>219495
I plan to have my Knights and Padawans inserted on their planets to gather information and start recruiting of local forces. The darksiders' methods of rule produces a wealth of disgruntled people wherever they stay. With the right help from our Knights, these unhappy men will be an impassioned fifth column in the heart of the hostile systems around us.

This approach is not without its drawbacks. When compared to a straight fight, skulking around like this will be a frightful long process. In the meantime, we will reinforce our defenses here enough to deter further Sith aggression. With any luck, their competitive nature will divide any follow-up this defeat might otherwise inspire.
>>

Or >>219495
and >>219561

Are acceptable options, although the latter goes into much greater detail as to your plans.

I think I would require a tiebreaker on this to see exactly how Reed would respond to Sun Vike
>>
>>219495
>I don't think we're going to be betrayed by another Jedi.

Is that how General Vike would look at things? One Jedi, betraying another? From his point of view, you're a rogue Knight who's taken several other Knights with him. You've established yourself as ruler of a planet after displacing whatever form of government they had before you - they're already calling you "Lord Reed". Heck, you have a Sith Holocron on your person, and Lo Rai went full dark side earlier before reining things in a bit. I'm just saying, it'd be prudent not to show all of your cards to him until you know that he's not just feeling you out before he stabs you in the back. A quick "We've been holding up" can hold him over until we give him the rundown on everything that's been going on.

Also, I disagree with the idea of using our Knights and Padawans as firestarters in other Sith Lords' territory, especially not when we need to train up the Mirialan Initiates we have here. Sounds like an easy way to get all of our higher-level Force users killed; one of them is pretty much useless as a trainer already (Lo Rai) since he's been tainted by the dark side.

Actually, it could be good to mention the Mirialans to Vike. We could ask the thirty Force-sensitives we have if they want to stay here and train with us or go back to the Jedi Temple and train there. Generate some goodwill with the council, which we apparently need after hearing Jaina's rundown.
>>
>>219681
I see no need to withhold information from this Master Vike and the rest of the Council. What would we do if they elected to remove us from commmand? Fight? We're in a shitty situation as it is and are depending on more Republic forces to reinforce the planet. We're in no capacity to fight the Republic as well, so try and generate some goodwill please.

As for the other thing, we've got a good chance of infiltration if past success is anything to go by. Certainly a better chance than sitting tight and waiting for the next ambitious Sith Lord to conquer us, or foolhardily attacking any of their fortified positions head on. We need to weaken their position, and our Knights have shown us they're competence.
>>
>>219763
We aren't depending on Republic forces to hold the planet - we just repelled Sith invaders, took their flagship, turned one of their generals to our side, and we're currently training up 30 new Jedi initiates. I'd say Telos is on an upswing. If you really thing it's wise to divulge everything about Telos to Vike then let's go ahead with it.

Infiltration worked well because we got lucky and in the end they got caught and chased off the planet rather quickly. Stealth is what kept them alive. If we tried to send out a knight to become some sort of Malcolm X on a Sith planet, stealth like that would be extremely difficult.
>>
>>219791
We repelled one Sith Lord, and I he bet he wasn't even the strongest one. We will not hold against all of them. There is no shipyard on this planet, we cannot replace naval losses if this becomes a war of attrition. We need to fragment their response to this defeat and we need to make their strength our strength, both tasks done well by spies and commando raids.

I'm asking infiltration to be done in the long term. No flashy approaches, just monitoring the movement of enemy forces and building resistance fighters to do the work groundside. If we set our operations low-key we stand a good chance of them not getting their cover blown. No big public speeches, just training, equipment and occasional support for attacks. Green beret stuff. That shouldn't cause a big stir like what happened before.
>>
>>219838
Aight, when you put it that way, I'm down.

Sending out Knights as infiltrators is more of a long term plan though, right? We'd probably have to scout out the social climate before we dedicate a Jedi Knight to it.
>>
>>219855
I dunno. Knights paired together were a +20 point bonus to a roll. If we have any specialists I'm game for something else but otherwise, I think our Knights have the best chance of success.
Remember, we'll need to establish a cover first. This is where the Hutt comes in. We infiltrate his network to prepare the way, then we branch out to the other planets. There is a long element of preparation here, we'll have time to train up spies on our end. Or we won't and we get deep-dicked by the rest of the enemy around us, either or.
>>
>>219875
Dang dawg, you've got some high-level strats.

I guess I'll just change my vote to yours so that we can stop holding up the story erhem.
>>
You make it clear to Master Vike that your primary concern is to ensure that the people of Telos IV remain under your protection. You have no intention of letting them fall under the Tyranny of the Sith ever again.

However, you have no delusions of being able to directly challenge the Sith like you have the last several times over the long term. You do believe that, perhaps with your loyal knights and the new allies you have been making lately, that you will be able to hold your own against the Sith Forces by staging Guerrilla operations against your nearby enemies and by fortifying the territory you’ve managed to claim.

>”Hmmm. A form of indirect warfare then? Not necessarily the kind of tactics I prefer, but I suppose given your situation it would prove effective.”

As you go into greater detail as to the tactics in question, he compliments the effectiveness of your Knights and says that you should value their commitment to your cause.

>”Indeed, I could have used such abilities myself in earlier battles. A shame I could not have gotten my hands on you before you started this crusade of yours…”

When you mention the possibility of using the Hutt in your operations, Sun Vike immediately frowns.

>”A Hutt eh? I’m not particularly fond of their ilk. You must have a great deal of patience to tolerate gangsters on ‘your’ world.”

Sun Vike sighs as a military adviser of him whispers into his ears

>”Yes yes… well, I am not certain how much of my forces can assist in this kind of warfare, but nevertheless I intend to help make a difference while I am here. However, there is one thing I must make very clear to you Kraton…”

His expression becomes a bit more grim as he stares at you

>”I swore a vow by the Force to serve the Republic, and I intend to stand by my word. Should the Republic call me back at any time, I would be obligated to return.”

His fierce look remains for a few moments as his officers look away rather uneasily and his apprentice continues to stand and stare at you all, as attentively as you would expect a droid to behave.

Then, his expression suddenly softens and he gives you another grin

>”That being said, I am here now and I intend to do what I can to help protect your people and take the fight to the Sith. So then Master Reed, how can I help?”
>Sun Vike is offering to assist your forces, though it appears there may be a few strings attached to his offer, how does Kraton Reed suggest that he help him?

Reed’s Army
-6 Jedi Knights, 1 Jedi Padawan, and thirty Force Initiates who have only just begun their training
-30 thousand soldiers (ex-Republic war veterans and trained volunteers with various Republic and salvaged Sith military hardware)
-10 thousand Armored Division (Ex Sith Soldiers)
-10 thousand TSF Paramilitary officers (Telos Security Force)

Reed’s Fleet

-Raider Corvette: (Very fast Anti-Starfighter vessel)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Raider-class_corvette

-12 Hammerhead-class Cruisers (Troop/Supply Transport)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Hammerhead-class_cruiser

-144 Aurek Starfighters (Excels in dogfighting)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Aurek-class_tactical_strikefighter

-20 TSF Aurek starfighters, most of which have been upgraded
-4 Captured Sith Transport Ships (Armored Troop/Supply Transport)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gage-class_transport
(Fleet can only hold approximately 10 thousand soldiers)

Telos IV Defenses
-A series of Forts located throughout strategic points on the planet's surface
-A planetary surface-to-orbit Ion Cannon located within a Fort
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/V-150_Planet_Defender

"All in all, our ground forces performed tremendously well! I guess all that training and drilling of yours really paid off Sir! Our Naval Fleet on the other hand took some serious losses... good thing we got reinforcements right? Heh heh..."

You take a glance at the map of Telos IV at the center of the table. Sun Vike immediately reaches for a console on his side of the table. The map of Telos IV intensifies on the fleet in orbit as a series of data appears alongside the images of Vike's vessels...
Republic Expeditionary Force

Army
-1 Jedi Master, 1 Jedi Padawan
-5 thousand Republic Soldiers

Fleet
-1 Valor-class Cruiser (Capital Ship)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Valor-class_cruiser

- 6 Thranta-class Corvettes (Troop Transport / Space Combat)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Thranta-class_corvette

-6 Hammerhead Class Cruisers (Troop/Supply Transport)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Hammerhead-class_cruiser

-194 Liberator Class Starfighters (Multi-purpose fighter)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Liberator-class_starfighter

-58 PT-7 Starfighter Bombers (excels in destroying larger ships)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/PT-7_starfighter

-72 Aurek Class Starfighters (excels in dogfighting)
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Aurek-class_tactical_strikefighter

(Fleet can hold approximately 15 thousand soldiers)

That's.. a little more than half our strength. Good shit. We still have to evaluate the forces that the enemy has, but we might not need to take on a shadow war if we have some semblance of an ability to fight.
The fleet we just fought came from Mirial, so that should be our first target. We've just literally decapitated that planet's leadership, so perhaps we can stage a counter-invasion of our own. hmm.

All of this depends on the size of the enemy forces and when they attack, if ever. Our last estimate was four or five times our number as a low bet, but if that number is lower we may have a chance of what passes for a conventional military campaign.

For the present: Master Vike has brought more than a substantial force to this fight, so I think we should treat him like an equal. Current plan going forward is to ignore previous plan from before. We fortify our planet, but we make a raiding group to buzz Mirial and test their defenses. Further planning will have to wait until we get an idea on the relative size/strength of the other Sith systems.
>>
>>219997
Kind of a lot to take in at once I bet, but what this information basically boils down to is that you have a fairly large amount of well trained soldiers as well as a recent boost of men from Commander Stryker, but that your fleet has dwindled even further in size to the point where it hurts your ability to deploy said ground forces
>>
>>220038
If anyone finds any flaws in my methodology please tell me. Otherwise, mission planning is as follows:

Raiding party:
Raider corvette (obviously)
2 Thrantas with full complement of starfighters.
We'll follow up with a sizable ground invasion force if the planet looks juicy, put pull out otherwise.
If there's any ships under our command with faster hyperdrives, please tell me, otherwise that's our raiding group.
Infiltration: TSF are to analyze civilian traffic around Telos IV. At the same time, one Knight and one Padawan are to try and spy on Bwuno the Hutt. We need smugglers, people who make their profession sneaking through planetary security.

Stationed: All forces not listed above. All other Knights are start on the Initiates, and select Padawans on their own initiative (of course).

>>220099
Is it known that the bulk of their fleet showed up to fight us on Telos?
>>
>>220103
It is not known exactly how many of the forces defending Mirial showed up to fight on Telos IV. At least not yet.

>>220038
You explain that with Vike’s forces supporting yours, you believe it may be possible to wage a more conventional style of warfare. At least for a time….

You also explain your desire to focus military efforts on Mirial, perhaps staging a few raids on it to test it’s defenses before staging a full scale liberation effort.

>”If the majority of that fleet was originally from that world, then I imagine that world’s defenses must have been drawn thin quite a bit now.”

Vike rises to his feet and addresses an officer of his

>”I want scouting ships and probe droids dispatched within a fortnight, and a detailed estimation of their forces’ strength on that world by the end of the week.”

His officer salutes him and leaves to go carry out his current orders

>”Well, I came here a bit later than I would have liked but it sounds like we’ll be able to work well together after all.”

Master Vike rises to his feet and gives you another respectful bow

>”We shall work out the specifics of this upcoming invasion once we’ve obtained more information.”

You rise to your feet as well and return his bow

>”We will be in touch Master Reed.”

>>220099
We will be forming and training a special warfare group from our soldiers. We'll need to identify talent for this line of work from our soldiers and begin training as soon as possible.

As to the present:
"I'm sorry master Vike, I just got word of the status of our forces. Currently we're dispatching a small raiding party to Mirial to see if a liberation effort would be worthwhile. Otherwise, current plan is to wait and hold. Do you have any concerns on this situation?"

Sun Vike and his officers being talking amongst themselves when Commander Skrillex pipes up again over the comlink

>”Sir, I also wanted to let you know that most of our forces are gathering down on the surface… to celebrate! Word is spreading all over the planet about our great victory over the Sith. i-I imagine you and the knights up there with you would care to join us…?”

You believe, that after everything you’ve accomplished upon taking Telos IV from the Sith, that you’ve earned a small respite for yourself and your band.

“We shall be joining you all shortly Skrillex. Save a drink for me would you?”

The Commander chuckles as he quickly salutes you

>”Will do Sir! Be seeing you soon!”

The hologram fizzles out as you turn back to address Vike

“Master Vike, would you care to join me and my Knights on the surface? We intend on joining the people in celebrating this great victory against the Sith.”

Master Vike ceases speaking with his officers and pauses for a moment as he considers your offer.

>”Well… I suppose I would enjoy that. Fianna?”

His Padawan glances at him before staring back at you and your followers

>”Very well then.”

Her master smiles as he turns to address you once more

>”We’ll meet up with you all soon.”

You and your followers leave the RNF Stalwart aboard your shuttle and fly back down to Telos IV. Following Commander Skrillex’s directions, you fly over to where a majority of your forces have gathered to celebrate. A large city made primarily of stone dwellings that stretches over a coastline. Night has fallen by now, but the city is alight with activity as the local people have taken to the streets to joyfully celebrate your victory alongside your soldiers.

Touching down in a private hangar, your various Knights are quick to want to go out and explore the local sights and take part in the celebrations.

In this rare moment where you personally do not need to worry as much about your duties as a Jedi and as a ruler of a planet, how will Lord Reed act?

>Don your hood and walk amongst the city at your leisure, taking care not to attract attention to yourself?

Let's party it up with Trask and our battle-brothers.
>>
Seeking to enjoy this rare opportunity to cut back, you decide to seek out your loyal comrades-in-arms and enjoy yourself.

Jaina Charr excuses herself, saying she wishes to find her own bit of fun. Not wishing to press exactly what that entails, you turn to the two other Jedi that are with you.

Kota Vam seems a little hesitant to join in the fun, but with a little prodding from his Padawan Arnet Yar you manage to drag him over to a wide open terrace where many tables have been set up and where over a thousand of your soldiers seem to be gathered.

You and your two Knights sift through the crowd, but it’s not long before one of the men recognizes you

>“LOOK! It’s Lord Reed!”
>”GENERAL REEEEEEEEEED!!!!”

A massive chorus of cheers erupts as dozens of soldiers rise to their feet and swarm around you

Suddenly you find that mugs of ale have materialized in your hands as several soldiers begin to pat you on the back and regale you

Even after seeing and going through so much, you find this a little overwhelming.

>”Out of the way! Move! Move!”

The crowd parts a bit as you see a familiar green scaly figure approach you. It dawns on you almost immediately that Trask had disappeared earlier, and you begin to suspect that he left your ship early solely so he could join in on the celebrations

>“Lord Reed, just look at this! Look at what we’ve done together! This is a day that will be long remembered. Let's drink to this glorious day!”

Pulling you over to his table, Trask begins to push you into drinking heavily with him as the two of you gloss over all that has happened that brought you to this point.

>Do you match Trask drink for drink?
>>
>>220353
Jedi don't often drink unless I'm mistaken, so, no. That sounds like a great way to make an ass of ourselves.

You chuckle at Trask as you follow him to his table

“I’d love a drink or two…”

Your men are quick to bring over several pitchers of ale for the two of you as you both raise your mugs to each other

>“To the Force! Salute!”

The two of you manage to blitz through several drinks tougher as you recall storming Verus’ flagship together and facing down the hordes of soldiers side by side. Trask is quick to say how grateful he is to finally be able to bring the fight right to the Sith’s doorstep.

You let him carry on the conversation while continuing to down more and more. Letting Trask carry the conversation further, he veers into his mission with Jaina and how the two of them managed to infiltrate Verus’ fortress on Mirial. He seems to be immensely proud of how successful the mission went down, and in his inebriated state says how much he greatly admires the Corellian woman.

You both manage to hold your drinks down well. Your natural Zabrak physique complemented with your own tolerance keeps you grounded, but Trask appears to be holding his own fairly well too.

Just when the two of you are beginning to feel the effects of your fun, you notice that many members of the crowd are quieting down. When you glance over, you see that the crowds are parting to let a large entourage of people join the party.

At the head of the new partygoers is Master Vike and his apprentice Fianna

>What does Lord Reed do now?

>”Eh?! Who the Hell…? Who’sh the tall human and the little white haired girl?”

Your eyes widen as you concentrate on the two Jedi in the distance.

“They did come down! Hahahaha!”

As your visions blurs and your head tilts back, you find yourself raising a fist and pummeling yourself in the chest repeatedly

>”Eh Reed, why you hitting yershelf?”

Hopping up, you knock your chair back to the ground as you raise up your mug and blurt out

“To our allies from the Republic! To Sun Vike and Fianna! May the Force be with us all!!!"

The rest of your words are drowned out by the booming cheers that surround you all. Yo find yourself chuckling in turn as you down your ale, stumbling back all the while yet somehow managing to stay on your feet.

When your drink is finished, you begin to shamble over to them. Summoning a pitcher into your hand from a nearby table, you refill your drink as you approach Master Vike and his apprentice.

With your vast experience with alcohol, you are able to momentarily psyche yourself up to greet your guests

“Welcome to Telos IV.”

>”Ah Reed. This really is some party you have going on down here…”

You shove a drink into the Jedi Master’s grasp

>”Oh uhm, thank you.”

>What action does Reed take next?

>Engage Vike in small talk?
>Engage Fianna in small talk?
>Rejoin Trask?
>Carouse with your men?
>Go somewhere else? (Write-in?)
>>
>>220523
>Engage Vike in small talk
BUT DO NOT LET ANYTHING SLIP OUT
ESPECIALLY NOT THE HOLOCRON INCIDENT
>>
You open your mouth to speak only for no words to fall out of your mouth as you momentarily realize that the Telosian Sith Holocron, an object containing thousands of years of teachings centered around the Dark Side of the Force, lies within your pocket.

>"Master Reed, is something wrong?"

"UHHHHHHHHH...."

>"..."

"... come! Sit down and relax! This victory belongs to us all!"

>"r-Right then."

The two of you walk over and take a seat at an empty table and engage in small talk together.

Vike eyes his drink suspiciously, looking at it carefully and taking a small whiff of it before finally sipping a little from the top.

"Is it alright?"
>"Delicious, thank you."

You prod the Jedi Master a bit, interested in hearing more about his story, and after some time passes you both by you end up learning quite a few things about this Jedi Master.

You're surprised to hear that Sun Vike isn't in fact a Human, but a Near-Human. He comes from a species called the Epicanthix, a warrior race of humans defined by their strong bodies, their long lifespans, their dark hair, and their curious immunity to attempts to alter the mind through the Force. They are a somewhat rare species, but Vike appears proud of his people and their warrior roots.

Vike also likes to talk quite a bit about current affairs, dropping you a few hints about exactly what's going on back in the Core Worlds. It seems that things are looking quite grim for the Republic as internal affairs worsen and the struggle against the Sith continues on.

Hearing of such tales of woe fills Kraton with determination to forge a better civilization out here in the Outer Rim.

While you continue to listen to Vike, you notice his white haired padawan in the corner of your eye. Fianna, who you also had just learned is a member of another near-human warrior species called the Echani, appears to be talking one on one with Arnet Yar. You're not sure exactly what they're talking about, but Arnet looks quite nervous...

>"Reed? What's caught your eye?"

"Nothing! Say look at that!"

You point up at the night sky as multiple fireworks begin to explode off in the distance, shining bright lights over the city below

>"Beautiful."
"Ha, I'll say. This whole world is quite a treasure..."
>"Indeed. Congratulations Kraton."

After Sun Vike eventually excuses himself, you allow yourself to dip back into your drinks. You manage to hold your own long past the point where most would have dropped unconscious, and yet the entire time you manage to stay on your feet. Every near miss you take to the ground is quickly rectified by a tumble or a Force assisted hop, allowing you to stay up all through the night.

While some might say you looked to be at your most vulnerable, in truth you felt closer to the Force than ever in this state. You feel so great, you imagine you could take on several Verus' in this state.

As for his master Ramana, or any of the other great Sith Lords... well, you'll have to wait and see
