/qst/ - Quests

You are Ushi Walker, the half-japanese/half-american wielder of the mighty quirk “Everything is Bigger in Texas”, an applicant to U.A High, sometimes a giantess, sometimes a pint sized gal and a cool chick all around the clock.

And right now, you are making the best impression of a burrito your texan ancestry allows you to. Being snug and comfy at 5 in the afternoon without breakfast nor lunch was a feat only accomplished thanks to the rigorous training you received yesterday and the conclusion your mind reached after such an illuminating day.

The conclusion was ‘Movement is pain’.

Thus you abandoned yourself to the fate of the abandoned breakfast burrito, dehydration and stillness.

You know pain, and you know how to push past it, but today you have nothing to do but wait the exams results, and you are pretty sure your skin is sporting a natural cow print pattern out of sheer trauma.

Yesterday, you rediscovered the meaning of hard work. Your first trip to The Tigers’ Den was rather violent, starting with the diagnostic evaluation. After the first few questions, it became clear that pretty much all you knew about wrestling came from what old choreographed T.V fights showed you, and that you were utterly hopeless in a straight fight, without your quirk.

Thus, Spring Tiger took it upon herself to, quite literally, beat such preconceptions out of you.

That's how you spent almost an entire day on basic grappling, holds and clinches, getting a short demonstration every step of the way, which included being at the receiving end of each. At least she complimented your flexibility and abs of steel, even if she followed it up by telling you to work on burning the fat covering them.

By the end of the day, you had managed to get a hang of the basics and received a white two pieces getup and a white mask for your new rank as a Paper Tiger, a trainee without style nor experience, and multiple bruises on your upper back, shoulders, ankles, ribs and abs, along with pain on your everything else.

The janitor was an odd sight too, wearing a beetle mask on the job, she apparently has three stripes which seems to indicate having a definite style.
If even the janitor is a wrestler, the place must be good’ right?
She also told you you were lucky it was Spring who gave you your first lesson, two of the others would have mauled you to the point there would’ve been broken bones and this generation’s Tiger Mask would have just sent you home.

And after she gave your shambling ass a ride back to Musutafu, you wondered if being cool is a job requisite for janitors.

All of that leads back to how you began your day today.
Not at all.
Yesterday was a day for the training of the body.
Tomorrow you'll see Endeavor’s home and listen to what he has to say.
Today?
Today is burrito day.

>“Still in there, hun?” Your mother calls from outside your room's door. “I know you are tired, but ain't this a bit too much? Pretty sure you have something important to do today.”
“I'm not tired, I'm beat.” You reply from within your blanket shell. You are well wrapped enough to be entirely covered, with only your hair sticking out. “I'm not leaving bed today if I can help it.”
>“Not even... to help me check the mail?”
“Ugh… Sure, bring it in.”
>“It's locked hun, we live alone and you still lock your room's door.” She says.
“Just go under the door…” You groan, poking your head out of your blanket. “I know you can.”

A few seconds later, Momma is standing in your room, holding a small stack of letters in one hand and a single envelope in the other.

>“I really thought you’d be more interested in this.” She says, waving the envelope in your general direction. “Do you even remember what day it is today?”
“Burrito day.”
>“It's thursday, hun.”
“Doesn't that mean…” You fashion your blanket into a cloak and sit on your bed.
>“The exams results have to be here!” She tosses you the lone envelope. “It actually says U.A in the envelope. I expected you to be all over it this morning but you never came down. How come you skipped two meals?”

You let your blanket fall and show your battered body and the oversized shirt you use as pajamas to your mom.

>“Woah… They really did a number on you.” She says looking you over. “Well, open it! The suspense is killing me!”

>What do you do?

>[Open it! Face the future!]

You hold the envelope and shake it a bit, like a christmas present.
Its weight is... off.
You carefully take its end and carefully rip it open.
Inside there are two pieces of paper… and something jammed in between.
You raise the open envelope over your hand and shake it softly, like a cereal box.

Your phone starts shaking on your nightstand, but you pay it no mind.

>“So… What does it say?” Asks your mother, who is trying to peek inside the envelope
“No idea yet… there is something more in here” Your attempts are rewarded as a small disk falls on your palm “here it is.”
>“A holodisk? That’s gonna be hard to frame.” She says, before tapping your desk with her knuckles. “Place it on the desk and start it, it ought to be good.”
“Here goes nothing”

You do as your mother says, and a second later a floating screen pops up over your desk.

It shows the man with the speaker-scarf looking to the side, to someone or something off frame.

>“...ri, but watch how a pro entertainer does it!” He then turns towards the camera. “Welcome to the most important show of your life yet, young lady!”

>“I’m your host, Present Mic, here to tell you how you did on the exams this week!”

He turns just as the camera switches to a new angle, now showing a screen by his side.

>“Let’s start leaving the best for the last and start with the written exam!” With a swift movement he turns the screen on and a pie chart appears. “Now, you probably have an idea of how you did, but let’s clear it up, shall we?”

>“You almost flubbed history kid, but your scores only rise from there on! From barely scratching the bottom of the barrel, and with such a good grasp of the world’s art and classics… I’d guess you listen to Put Your Hands Up Radio!”

“What?” You ask outloud, your eyes not leaving the screen.
>“It’s his radio show on Hero FM.” Your mother replies.
“Huh.”

>“And you managed to score one of the best scores on Hero Art this side of the Support Courses! Your costume better live up to the tale, kid!”

You quickly glance at the papers still in the envelope. Sure enough, one of the papers looks like a professional version of your costume draft.

>“But now, to the reason I’m hosting this piece! You, Walker Ushi, managed to get the highest score on the English test amongst the regular test takers, and second overall! You and I will be speaking to each other really often soon, with your host being U.A’s English teacher and all that…” He points double finger guns at the camera as the pie chart is replaced by a recording of a boulder smashing at high speed against a group of robots. “You heard that right kid, you would need a straight 0 points in the practical exam to be left out of the school after that.”

As he speaks, a few clips of you smashing robots play behind him, along with the number ‘21’ in golden numbers.

>“And you got 21 points on the basic robot wrecking requisites, nothing to scoff at, yet nothing to be proud of…” He smiles and the screen behind him changes its video again. “Unlike this!”

The video shows hundreds of students running through a rubble littered road, away from a massive rolling cloud of dust.
The giant 0 point gimmick robot.
Suddenly the robot stops rolling, and the shaking of the earth gets more and more ritmical.
Much like the robot, the mob stops running to gaze upon your giant form.

“The heck are y'all waiting for? Skedaddle!” Comes your distant and slightly distorted voice from the recording.

>“21 points would have been enough to pass, but you couldn’t leave the massive murder engine alone, could you?” He smirks “Running into bodily harm for the cheesiests of reasons is what being a hero is all about, and we at U.A. know how to look for it, hence Rescue Points! Awarded for any and all actions born of a heroic heart in spite of the applicant’s own score!”

The screen’s background is continues showing your takedown of the giant robot up until it’s flipped, then it switches to the fight with Itsuka and the bandana’d boy against the robot pile-up.

A second number appears next to the ‘21’, ‘37’ then a ‘58’ appears below them...

Then they are all replaced by a leaderboard full of names you don’t recognize…
Except for Itsuka’s on the 5th place… and yours on the 9th.

>“Welcome to U.A, Walker, see you in Spring.” He makes a chopping motion with his hands and the holoscreen fades away.

“Top ten? That’s bragging rights, right?” You ask, still a bit stunned.
>“I’m gonna have to find a way to make copies out of this thing and send one back to america.”

You pick up the envelope and drop back to bed, then pick up your phone from the nightstand. It’s full of all the messages and alerts you’ve ignored today. After sliding and tapping a few times, you manage to clean up the screen from all the crap you don’t care about, leaving you with a few texts.

There is one that’s just a reminder from Pa to get in touch when you get the exams results.
Then there are a shitton from Itsuka and Pony.

><“I passd the test with 80pnts”>
><“And 38 in practic. U knew bout Rpoints?”>
><“What class U in????”>
><“I'm class !”>
><“U girls got in the top 10, I’ll ‘ve to work hardr.”>
><“Itsuka says got a video from Cementoss in her letter. Did ya?”>
Sent Pony in english, or it’s text cousin.

Itsuka’s texts, on the other hand, are in proper japanese.

>“Hey, did you get your letter? You’ll like it.”
>“Did you know about the Rescue Points? It looks obvious in hindsight, doesn’t it?”
>“Welcome to the top!”
>“Pony says she didn’t get a holodisk, did you?”
>“Apparently, Cemetoss teaches Lit.
>“...”
>“Text me back when you wake up.”

Well, you can’t be blamed for preferring to stare in catatonia at the wall for nearly 8 hours.
You look at the paper.

It’s the basics, telling you to pick up your uniform at your earliest convenience, that classes start the 15th of March and that you must be at classroom (...) at 8:30AM.

You start by replying to Pony.

“<That’s great! I passed too.>”
“<The Rescue Points? They caught me by surprise. I ended up in 1-A tough, and while I go a disk too, I got Present Mic. He teaches english.>”

Then to Itsuka’s texts.

“Hey, I’m up and about now.”
“The Rescue Points make sense in a hero school, without them it's just a property damage contest. I got Present Mic giving me the rundown on my disk. He teaches english.”
“Also, I got class 1-A.”
You then turn towards the Costume Application.

I have no idea what this is, but I suppose it keeps us on the ground and steady. Not too sure about this one, but seems reasonable, if situational.

The support company managed to do everything you asked of them. Every part of the design is labeled and explained, and it shows you even the inner workings of the design, even if they are beyond you.

You aren't good enough at chemistry to know exactly what it is and how the coating works, but your costume is fully coated in an acid and fireproof polymer. While it won't do much to actually protect you against flash fires and flamethrowers, you shouldn't be on fire on this costume, and the fact that it won't dissolve in acid is a plus.

Then comes a belt with pouches filled with tiny objects. Not models, but actual scaled down hammers, knives, rope, flasks and a pretty long list of useful things to have in a pinch.

The brown gloves have a textbox indicating how they were reinforced with metallic mesh to protect your hands while leaving everything after the intermediate phalanges free to let you use your quirk freely.

The most curious part of the costume, you have to admit, are the grounding wires running discreetly under the costume’s overlapping areas to the boots.

While not even scaling will get you out of being hit by millions of volts unscathed, you think that living with wire-y first or second degrees burns is better than a flashy death by conflagration.

And the final functional part of the costume would be your ranged weapon, the whip.

Beyond being dangerous, thematic and hot, you hope to hone your quirk enough to be able to use it through so little overlap as a whipstrike.

Beyond these especial parts, the rest of the costume consists of what would be normal clothes if not for the coating.

Which is fine by you, the image you are shooting for wouldn't be the same without a hat and a bandana, even if they are just a normal hat and a bandana.

Pleased with the design, you go back to your phone.

Both Itsuka and Pony wrote back.

Time to meet King Douchebag of the Universe.
I feel like Endeavour trying to eugenics us makes hooking up with Shoto LESS likely considering how much that boy hates his old man.
Personally I'm okay with that, I just don't see Ushi going for the quiet, broody types, but I know that may disappoint some folks if it holds true.
>>
I think we could do quite a bit of good for him and get him to have more self faith well before the exam.
>>
>>1921209
All the eugenics stuff is just memeing, I think there's a good chance her for some duality. Our mom is basically #1 Endeavor fangirl, and we definitely see him as a great hero and not as a child abuser. Therefore in the eventual meeting of Shouto there's bound to be some tension between the kid with daddy issues and the cowgirl that sees nothing wrong with said daddy. Who knows he could confront us and ask shit like "What lies did he tell you?", there's potential here not in just jumping into his pants.

After having your lazy day interrupted, you rationalise that you might as well put on some pants and do your chores. No point in letting the dishes pile up if you are already up.

You are too battered to put yourself through some exercise routine right now, even if it would be nice, but stretching is fair game.

It’s only about an hour, and just what youtube tutorials showed you, but it didn't actually hurt so it must be okay. You will be prepared for next wednesday.

You may need to make a routine out of this if you want to reap any benefits though.

After that you go take a bath.
Japanese custom is to clean yourself before actually bathing, something you thought pretty stupid until you actually tried it.
While cleaning yourself on a stool with just a showerhead is pretty hard, and clearly a family exercise, being able to soak up in clean, clear hot water for hours after makes it all worth it.

It's soothing to both body and mind…
So what it you are going to a celebrity’s home tomorrow? You said you'll deal with that when the time comes, and that's what you'll do.
Classes in two weeks? You got in, and within the top 10 too, you will rock this. It’s not like schools start kicking people out on day one.

You got this girl.
You got this.

After drying up, you go for your phone again.
Pa isn’t on, but he sent you a message, and a picture of him giving you thumbs up.

><“Top 10, heh? Knew you had it in you, sweetie. I hope you like your highschool, it has a way to grind you against situations you never expected, so keep thinking on your feet, keep that chin up and go get ‘em Ushi. Show them why you got in.>

Then you go do your chores.
Dishes, windows and the bathroom are sparkling clean by the time Momma calls you for dinner.
The spread is impressive, there’s takoyaki, okonomiyaki made as you like it and mouth melting omu-soba.

“Woah, isn’t it a bit much?” You ask your mother
>“We are celebrating today, hun. It ain’t too much for special days.” She points out. “It would have been better if you had opened that letter earlier though.”

You both dig in and you wash the dishes a last time before going to bed.

Come Friday, you don’t get the luxury of sleeping in, as momma just flipped you out of bed.
With the bed.

>“We are not going to be late this afternoon, hun. Clean up and dress up, I want you nice and tidy today.”

“Okay?” What?

>What do you do?

“Momma,‘s just a visit” You say as you gather your clothes and towel. “Not a wedding.”
>“We still got invited to Endeavor’s home, hun.” She eyes the attire you picked. “You could at least try. You may not like him as I do, but this could be important, you know?”
“Dude runs around in skintight fabric and fire, I’m sure he won’t be bothered by me not wearing a sundress.” You shoot back as you walk out of your room and into the bathroom.

Before closing the door behind you, you manage to hear her mumble as she goes down the stairs.

>“... At least it’s a nice shirt.”

It’s true. It may be another iteration of your classic jeans, shirt and vest, but you picked the new and clean ones. Nice blue jeans, a sky blue shirt and your light brown leather vest, patches and all. It’ll all come together with the polished brown boots and BAMF belt.

You take care of yourself well enough, you leave your hair shiny, soft and untangled, polish your horns and nails and even spray on a bit of cologne.

You might not be fond of frilly stuff, and you do prefer a nice simple style, but don’t ever let it be said that you don’t clean up nice.

While mom had been a bit violent waking you up, she did let you sleep until noon, so you skipped breakfast again.
Lunch is a simple affair today, with fish and white rice.

>“After yesterday’s dinner, and with this visit today, I’m not going to risk you throwing up.” Your mother explains.

A few hours later, during which your mother saw fit to bore you with an abridged version of Chado, or the Way of Tea, you arrive to the front of an enormous traditional japanese home.

“This is the part where we find out if it’s Tea Party or Tea Ceremony, right?”
>“It does look like the kind of place to have a tea garden…”
“I’m ringing the bell” You say, hovering your finger over the button by the gate, then stop to look at your mother. “That’s what we got to do, right?”
>“We were invited, so go ahead. It’s meant to be rung.”

You ring and wait for a few minutes before a young woman peeks out from the door, then the gate opens by itself.

Then the woman waves you in.

“Please, do come in! I’ll fetch brother and let father know right away!” She says as she retreats further inside the house “Feel free to take a pair of slippers.”

Right, no shoes inside. You leave your boots on a small shelf by the door and take the slippers that occupied the space.

>“Occidental tea party it seems, else, a boy should have taken us to wait in the garden.” Momma comments right before being proven wrong.

Just as your mother stops talking, a boy with two colored hair approaches.

>“You must be Father's guests. I am to escort you to the arbor before you join us for tea.” He… States? It doesn't sound like he is even talking to you. Kind of like a recording, or a robot. “As the assistant, I am also supposed to entertain you and answer any questions you may have, so feel free to ask anything.”

>“Nevermind.” Momma says, a bit of excitement creeping into her voice. “This is the three hours real deal.”

You groan.
Hopefully you won't need to be present during the whole ceremony.

The boy leads you to a small kiosk in the garden.
It has a nice padded bench, and pictures on the wall.

After you sit, your mother leans closer to you and whispers.

>“I hope you realize on some level how high an honor this is.”

>What do you do?

True. Worst case scenario is that he initially dislikes us on principle and avoids interacting with us. His hatred for his dad while understandable causes him to go to utterly INSANE lengths just to spite the man. But then we just have to wait until after the festival before we can start making HIS pants too tight.
>>1921226
If he doesn't hate us outright, I'd be down for that. Probably not have that great of a grasp on our own feelings though, we are a high school student after all. Maybe express it something like, "I mean he's cute, but at the same time he just seems... so miserable all the time, and it's really kind of a turn-off."

The first few minutes you look at the pictures on the kiosk’s wall. They are all Endeavor. Some are fights, some are awards, and some are ads.
And judging by her mumbling of names and dates, your mother recognizes literally every single pic.

You grow bored of it fairly soon, and turn your attention towards the boy in the room.

“...Howdy.” You start” I’m Walker Ushi. What’s your name?”
>“Todoroki Shoto.” He replies without looking at you.

Okay?

“And the woman who opened the door?”
>“Fuyumi Todoroki, my elder sister.” Once again, he doesn’t even look at you.

Instead he begins walking away, through a trail of stones in the grass.

>“Follow me, everything should be ready now. Your host will greet you over here, beyond the stepping stones.”

In the distance you see Endeavor, clad in casual attire.
Shirt, shoes and pants. And nothing beyond his face is on fire.
Your guide slows down as you approach The Flame Hero.

Just when you are about to pass him, you ask.
“...Do you even want to be here?”
>“No matter what do you mean by here, no. I do not want to be here.” This time he does look at you. “Do you?”

>What do you do?

>[“Yes.”]
>[“I was kind of dragged here.”]
>[“No.”]
>[“Nope. Wanna bail out?”]
>>
>>1922376
>"Hi, my name is Ushio Walker, what's your name?"

Give full name. Also please let our name be Ushio. That name just hurts.

Ushi is what our American family calls us because they don't know what it means. Momma just smirks and doesn't say anything. By the time we learn what it means, were already used to it.

“Nope. Wanna bail out?” You ask him, a grin on your face.
>“You cannot escape, not without dire consequences.”
“Yeah, momma will get mad, big deal.” You say “They’ll keep each other busy for a while, you just follow me.”
>“You will only make him mad for hours while he can’t do anything without tarnishing his reputation.” He says.

Damn, he cares about his dad too much.

“Well, I didn’t think about…”

>“There is a small family restaurant I am fond of a few streets from here. He doesn’t know about it, so he won’t be able to send Fuyumi after us.”

What.

It takes you a second to get your bearings, but by the time you, Shoto and your mother reach Endeavor, you are already trying to dissimulate your grin.

>“Greetings.” Says Endeavor, bowing with closed eyes.
>”Greetings.” Replies your mother, a bit confused, but imitating the gesture all the same.

So you grab Shoto by the wrist and dash for the house.
In less than a minute, you are already on the door, changing back to your boots.

>“There is no way he did not notice that.” Shoto says.
“Does it matter? He didn’t stop us.” You say, adjusting your boot. “Lead the way, I was expecting a meal and practically skipped lunch.”
>“A good idea. Tea ceremonies include a three course meal.” He says. “It took us all day to cook it.”

You two walk calmly down the street, with it’s still conflicted trees splotched in pinks, green and whites thanks to the mixed winds of winter and spring.

“I’m sorry?” His emotionless tone doesn’t exactly tell you if he is actually complimenting your decision or you offended him by spurning his work.
>“They were my old man’s favorites, not mine.” He says.

The place is exactly what he said, a small shop with only four tables, an unoccupied info booth full of pamphlets and a bar, attended by an old man who seems to be the cook too.

You sit in the bar, next to Shoto, and in a few minutes there is a tray with cold noodles in front of each of you.

>“Try dipping them in the Tsuyu, it is what makes them superior to the hot noodle dishes.” He says, pointing with his chopsticks at small bowl of sweet smelling soy sauce.

Before you can break your chopsticks apart, he is already slurping his noodles.
Loudly.
Without altering his expression.
“In Japan it’s normal to slurp your noodles.” He says as he notices you staring.
>“R-right, sorry.” You quickly avert your eyes and break your chopsticks.
He just continues inhaling pasta.
You follow suit… And they are pretty good!

As you eat, you take a look at a pamphlet you took from the booth.
There are a few things you could do to kill time after this.

“What do you think about going…

>“That was fast. I expected them to sneak of during the break, not run off at the start.”
>“I’m so, so, sorry, I’ll call her and tell her to get back right now...”
>“Let them be, it’s one of the reasons I wanted her to come. Shoto needs to open up and calm down. Even if he does to spite me, he needs to, for his future.”
>“You expected this?”

“What do you think about going to the arcade?” You ask Shoto, who is… drinking the sauce.

Right, Japan.

Still some things to get used to.

>“Arcade? Is there one near?” He replies after emptying his bowl.

“Never been there?

>“Not really. I had heard about it, but I thought it was in the city center, not near the house.”

“Let's go, then! You are about the get your ass kicked by a girl. Or you can cover my back on Time Crisis 8”

>”...Let me pay and we can go.”

The arcade was not far from the restaurant and the household, but it clashed with the quiet style of the area.

A big loud room, full of pachinko machines, retro style machines, pachinko machines, soccer games, pachinko machines, fighting games, pachinko machines, race and shooter booths and chance games.

The mix of children's screaming mixed with the machines noises makes you need to shout at each other's ears to be able to understand what you are saying.

Determined to pay this time, you ‘buy’ a bag of coins that you promptly shove into Shoto’s hands.

“It's your turn! Choose a game and see if you can beat me!”

>“I have no idea what to do now!”

“They are just games! Just pick one and see how good you are at them!”

You follow him as he weaves through the machines, until you come across a shiny and huge game.

The arcade version of the great 2 players fighting game: Hero Network’s All Star Team Brawl!!!

The picture above the screen shows what looks to be a fight between All-Might and Best Jeanist against Endeavor and Edgeshot. With a sticker indicating that this machine was updated with the Rising Stars DLC.

Ah… The memories.

When the game was released, hero otakus went ballistic over the web. Apparently, suggesting that Ms. Joke could even put up fight against Best Jeanist was enough to salt every field in the world at the same time, and with the game's massive rooster, it made one huge ball of bitching and crying all over social media.

It was great to watch.

“I thought you didn't have any tastes in games, but you have the best taste!”

>“I inserted the coins, we pick our teams now?”

“Right-o! And you pick first, then I'll pick twice, then you pick out your second!”

He takes the stick and picks…

All Might?

He must be aiming for the top 2 tag team!

If he is going to go for the Dynamic Duo, then going for the cheesiest team possible, Ingenium and Mic wouldn’t be out of bounds…

Supposedly, Ingenium’s low dash can be used as soon as he enters the fray, and Mic’s Yeah! covers the entire screen, thus you could open with Ingenium, drop the enemy on the floor, and lock them there with Mic’s voice, and if they manage to recover, just drop them again with Ingenium…

But that's not the kind of shit you pull on someone you just met.

Instead you pick Mount Lady and Ingenium.

One of them fits you like a glove, even if you don’t know much about her, and the other is a cool and well liked hero in

Shoto, as expected, picked his dad.

“Don’t expect any mercy for being new!”

>“I never do!”

As soon as the first round starts, Shoto switches and the match becomes one between Ingenium and Endeavor.

Shoto just blocks and tries to evade, but Endeavor’s hitbox is just too large and his blocks too slow to avoid Ingenium rapid Engine propelled jabs.

It’s a mauling.

Endeavor’s model doesn’t throw a single punch, nor throws a single flame.

Everyone who knows this game knows Endeavor’s Hellspear can down any character in three hits tops, unless your foe is mainlining Crimson Riot, and everyone who doesn’t at least tries to mash the buttons.

Before the timer counts 30, Endeavor is down and All Might enters the fray.

This time, you see All Might throw jabs and Smashes all over the screen, and over Ingenium.

Against the hero that some reviews said should be a single man team, Ingenium isn’t fast nor tough enough to withstand the flurry of almost random blows.

However, instead of just letting him be used as a mop, you change for your main, Mount Lady.

While only Crimson Riot can withstand All Might’s blows for any noticeable amount of time, Mount Lady’s Giantification makes her pretty resilient, which allows you to get close and stomp All Might into the pavement.

“What was that with Endeavor?”

>“I needed to get used to the controls”

On the second round, Endeavors performance is pretty much the same, getting violently ran over and thrown all over the stage by Ingenium.

This time, however, his All Might game is more on point, knocking out Ingenium as you rushed forwards with a well timed Detroit Smash.

When Mount Lady enters the stage, Shoto doesn’t waste time before Smashing her in the shin for a fourth of her health.

Still, as you know, being huge is great and you manage to down All Might before he finishes Mount Lady with a combination of stomping, a well aimed Canyon Cannon and plain old falling on him.

With two out of three rounds to you, the match ends and the game shows you the victory poses of Ingenium and Mount Lady.

Ingenium just takes off his helmet and bows, while Mount Lady...

Damn. that boobs-and-butt pose looks like it hurts.

You feel you spine splinter just by looking at it.
>>
>>1924800
*( and well liked hero in Tokyo.)

>“That was fun.” Shoto says, snapping you back to reality.

“That was your old man being used as a mop.”

>“I know.”

“What?”

>“I know, I was playing too.”

“You didn't even try to use him.”

He just inserts more coins into the machine’s slots.

>“Another match?”

>What do you do?

>[“Of course!”]

>[“Just pick another hero or something and don't half-ass it.]

We both got 2 dubs, but he got 1s and 9s, while we got 1s and 3s. So... I'm guessing one round each, before Shoto wins the final one?

And don't we need to roll Face for asking him about his daddy issues?

“Of course! It's already paid for anyway!”

He picks All Might again, so you pick Ingenium and Mount Lady again and he picks Endeavor.

The first round makes you wonder again, what the hell is wrong with him?
If it was your Pa in the game you’d pick him every time too, but not like this!

Endeavor gives once again a demonstration of the game's ragdoll physics at the high-speed barrage of jabs Ingenium puts out.

You glance sideways and see that Shoto is moving his fingers over the buttons, even if he is not pressing them.

“What's up with you and yer dad!?” You ask him. “You know you don't have to play him, right!?”

>“Without lying, he is an overbearing and strict father and trainer with high goals for my future and plans to make them happen.” He replies as All Might enters the stage.

“That sounds like a control freak parent, but!..”

Fuck! The reviewers were right, All Might is broken. As Ingenium goes flying through the stage, Shoto continues.

>“He is one of Japan's greatest heroes, bigger on paper than All Might. Ever wondered why, then, he is only a third as popular as him!?”

Mount Lady enters the fray and you answer with what your mother says on the issue.

“Because people don't appreciate his results and prefer All Might’s goofy smile!?”
>“You don’t look like an Endeavor fan!”
“I think he is cool, but Momma is a fan. She usually says that when the T.V talks about top heroes!”

This time All Might weaves around Mount Lady’s kicks and stomps, punching her shins and finally making use of his pressure wave strikes to keep his distance while taking big chunks of her health bar out without risk, reminding you again why you added that whip to your costume.

Not having ranged options sucks.

It takes you more flailing at the controls than you would like to admit, but forsaking your normal tactics for an overwhelming offensive, and quite literally flopping over All Might a few times, Mount Lady snatches victory from the jaws of defeat.

The second round starts and Endeavor and Ingenium face off once again.

When you rush him, instead of standing there taking the hits, after a few seconds you see him punch some buttons, and Endeavors model yells and ignites half the screen in blue flames, heavily damaging Ingenium and following it up with the Hellspear, taking the Turbo Hero out.

After taking his foe out, Endeavor scowls and calls ‘for the rest of the rabble to come out’.

“When Endeavor shows up at a crisis, people wonder what is he doing there. Most can see that he stands as a monument to his own pride!”
>>
>>1925592
>“When Endeavor shows up at a crisis, people wonder what is he doing there. Most can see that he stands as a monument to his own pride!”

That was Shoto.
---

With Mount Lady, you kick and stomp on the Flame Hero with practiced ease, taking him out before he has time to punch in another special move.

All Might dashes into the stage with a smile on his face, giving a thumbs up toward the screen.

>“...but when All Might shows up, he stands for all. People feel relieved even before he helps!”
“I guess he does have that friendly aura around him!..”

Like in the last round, All Might weaves and jumps around Mount Lady’s attacks quickly shaving off her health bar, but this time, when you try to pin him down, he jumps and Smashes Mount Lady down into the pavement, knocking her out.

All Might turns towards the screen and a red, white and blue speech bubble pops up with the words ‘Good Job!’

Then the third round starts.

Ingenium manages to take down three fourths of Endeavor’s health before Shoto starts chaining special moves again and forces you to pull him back, throwing Mount Lady into the fray. She takes out Endeavor, but not before Shoto repeats the sea of blue flames from before, which Mount Lady had no way to avoid taking her health down to two thirds.

All Might then wipes the floor with your two weakened heros.

Their victory screen presents Japan’s top heroes back to back with their arms crossed, looking like a buddy cop movie poster, with an obvious good cop and a bad cop.

“Good job, good game!” You tell him, massaging your wrists. “I guess you really only needed to get a hang of the controls!”
>“And watching him get bailed by All Might was soothing!”
“What!?”
>“I have never seen my old man do anything that does not relate to furthering his ambitions, Walker. He told me that I would be getting a training partner today, and I don’t see your mother denying him. So you should take this to heart.”

He looks straight into your eyes.

>“The truth about Endeavor is that he is a two faced bastard that will have no trouble breaking you down into a fitting piece for his plan, in which he has already included you, while buying your mother with gifts and sweet nothings.”

“W-what!?” Seriously, what the fuck?

>“I train and study alone now, but it used to be a nightmare. He always made sure to not leave marks, but he used to beat the combat training into me.” He looks at his watch “So when we return, find some way to get out of this. He’ll beat me up as much as he can with classes starting in two weeks, but I’m used to it.”

>What do you do?

>[“Plan?”]
>[“Have you tried the cops?”]
>[“Wait, two weeks? Are ya going to U.A?”]

It takes you a few seconds to react to that.
First off, Endeavor beats his son.
That’s some major cool guy points off.
Second, said son tried to take the hit.
That’s some major bro points.
Third, he thinks you need to be protected.
That’s sweet, but really unneeded.

So you chuckle.
Was it a grim chuckle?
A nervous one?
You can’t tell. Not that you care that much anyway.

“Yeah, no, I can take it, besides, like hell I’ll let you take it alone now!” You tell him, giving him a small punch on the shoulder. “It was a nice gesture, but I can take care of myself. I wrestled a giant robot, I can take aggressive training!”

He just pats his shoulder and motions to the arcade’s exit.
Once you are outside you can actually actually hear each other without yelling.

>“...Very well.” He suddenly looks back at you “Where did you find a giant robot?”
“U.A High Entrance Exam, which I rocked by the way. We weren’t meant to fight the big ‘uns, but it was chasing people, so I tipped it over, like a cow.” You say, mimicking a grapple you actually learned this week. “Only, you know, this actually happened.”
>“U.A… I got in too. We had to run a marathon with our quirks though.”

Nice! Not only Mr. Moodypants dropped the subject, but now you can ask the question.

“Class?”
>“1-A. I heard the girl got there too.”
“Neat-o! I got in class 1-A too.”

That makes one person you know!
Out of nineteen, but stil!

“... Now what?” You ask waving your arms arround
>“Whatever do you mean?”
“What do we do now?”
>“I have been improvising since you took my wrist, so I have not had any idea for hours.”

>What do you do?

I think that would require a speed roll to do it with our quirk. If i'm rememnbering right we sacrificed power to have a good speed/control of it. So if we can manage to be fast enough to force a object growth rapidly it could be done. Would be a special move but it's possible.

“Let’s head back, then.” You say, hoping Shoto would take the hint and take the lead.

Fortunately, he does.

>“The tea ceremony should be over soon if my old man put on a show with the charcoal, as he does.” He says, checking his watch as he walks.
“You mentioned something about a marathon? You got a different exam?”
>“That?” He looks skyward, remembering. “The Recommended Student’s Entrance Exam… We were few, and we had to run a marathon with our quirks. First four were going to get in. I got first place sliding on ice and slowing the rest. The other three flew over it, softened the ice into slurry or pulled spiked boots from somewhere, I didn’t try to remember them.”
“...You make it sound boring.”
>“It was. There is only so many times you can slide at high speed and be awed, and I passed that threshold long ago.”

It was probably a slide downwards or on a flat field, but you can’t help but imagine him surfing a frozen wave with the same bored expression.
Then you add sunglasses.
Heh.

By this time, both of you enter have passed the gate into the Todoroki Above.

“I hadn’t thought your quirk would be Ice based, I kind of expected one… I don’t know…” You close and open your hands quickly, imitating an explosion. “...Flamier?”
>“...Everyone does.” He pulls a 100¥ coin and holds it between his index and thumb in his left hand, at arm's reach from your face. “And they are not wrong.”

You see how the center of the coin goes from silver to red, then white.
THEN IT BURSTS INTO A TORRENT OF GREEN FLAME!
You take a sharp breath and try to not step away, steeling yourself, and keeping your hands from shaking.

>“Sorry, I overdid it.” He lets it fall to the ground, where it ends as a featureless disk of flaming molten metal.

Then a sheet of ice shoots out from his right foot, covering the ground and making the once coin sizzle and cool down.
He then picks it up and hands it to you.
It looks like a token, or a frozen droplet.
>“I do not think anyone will accept it now. Sorry.”

It looks like he didn’t notice your little moment.
So you take the chance to do the one one thing that always takes your self confidence sky-high.
Bragging.

“Hot and Cold?” You take it and place your left hand’s fingers on the rim, then enlarge it until it looks like a round tray.

Then you shrink it back to the size of a platter.

“Big and Small!” You say proudly, puffing your chest and fake polishing your nails on your vest. “Anything I can get my hands on I can enlarge and shrink, living or not!”

He blushes just a bit, and you…
You grin like a maniac.

Then you hear a sound pretty similar to a slap and both of you turn around.
Both Endeavor and your mother are walking to where you are, and your mother has a hand covering her face.

Now it’s your turn to be embarrassed.

“...Howdy?” Maybe, just maybe, if you try to play it like it never happened...

>“Ushi, hun, you were alone with the boy for less than four hours.” Your mother says, removing her hand from her face. “You aren’t giving me confidence for this next three years, ‘s what I’m saying.

Yeah, not happening.

“T’was just playful flirting!” You shoot back. “We were just wasting money at the arcade. And here!” You wave the round once-a-coin in her general direction.

>“Not counting her disregard for personal space, nothing untoward happened.” Interjects Shoto.

“Thanks man.”

>“Shoto! Young Walker! Welcome back.” Says the N°2 Hero. “You might find the fruits of the discussion you missed…

Fuck your dramatic pause.

You take a step forwards, coming to stand between him and Shoto, then look at him straight in the eye.

“When do we start?” You ask with arms crossed.

You see his expression shift from calm, to surprise then to fury and back to calm in the span of a second.

>“Three weeks, after you two get both ready to and used to school. My own homeroom teacher left us as good as dead the first day, and if yours is any similar, we wouldn’t get any work done.” He says, looking at you with a smirk that reminds you of your mother did on saturday but without her care behind the expression. “No matter how fired up you are, we can’t start earlier.”

You can practically see how he is taking you apart in his mind, tempering what he wants and doing away with the rest. It’s beyond unnerving, but remembering Shoto’s words makes it bearable.

>“Farewell, Katsumi. Thank you for coming to this gathering.” Says Endeavor, bowing

>“Farewell, Enji. Thank you for receiving me.” Replies your mother, bowing in kind. “Let’s go, hun.”

>“Shoto, escort her to the gate, please.” Endeavor says, leering at you. “I wish to have a word with young Walker here.”

>”I’ll be waiting for you in the car, hun!” Momma says “Lead the way young man, this place is huge!”

>“Okay.” Replies Shoto, giving you a look that says ‘I warned you’.

He then walks away, towards the gate, followed by your mother.
>>
>>1927680
You follow them with your eyes until you feel a warmth coming at your head.

Quickly turning around you see Endeavor’s flame covered hand coming to grasp at your horns.

In a reflex movement, you soundly slap it away, fire be damned and shove him back a step. No time for quaking in your boots.

He only seems surprised for less than half a second before his smirk comes back.

>“I don’t know what Shoto may have told you, but you better not try to tell anyone.” He says. “No one would believe you, not the cops, not your own mother. Just come here when the time comes and do what you do, and forget about it outside. Do what I tell you, and you’ll walk out of here as a rising star, blazing a path on the leaderboards. Don’t and, well… I don’t think Katsumi would take it well. She just seemed so proud and happy…”

“What did you do?” Fuck. fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.

>“Barely anything, just gave her green tea, spoke of your great future and treated her like a friend. I don’t need to do more.” He says. “You should be going now, she is waiting.”

You turn around and walk away, looking over your shoulder every few steps.

He doesn’t move.

After a few minutes of walking you come across Shoto.

>“...Did he threaten you?”

“My momma. Kind of.” Endeavor was right, she wouldn’t need much convincin’, not coming from him. “But I’m not flaking out.”

>“I will see you in classes, then.” He says “Good bye, Walker.”

You are about to reply when you notice you are forgetting something, so you quickly dig out a pen and a napkin and write your number.

“Here, if you need to talk before first day or something. And keep practicing at the arcade, because I’m going to and will wreck you if you don’t!” You tell him, then give him a quick hug. “Take care of yourself Shoto.”

>“It’s Todo…” He gives you a small pat on the back before you release him. “Hope to see you soon Ushi.”

You then walk to the car where your mother is waiting with a smile on her face.

The moment you open the car's door, Momma starts talking excitedly.

>“Isn't it great, hun!?” She says “You'll be getting tutoring under the best hero ever, and I'm on first name basis with him! I can't barely believe it myself!”

“...Yeah. Great.”

She keeps talking the whole way back, but you only half-listen, replying with the occasional nod or grunt.

You can only think of shrinking yourself and getting lost in the tub. Maybe sleep there.

I mean can't we just threaten him with the evidence?
>>
>>1928152
That's probably a MORE dangerous plan.
If we bring charges with overwhelming evidence and no warning, he can't touch us. And any attempt at a rampage gets his shit stomped by every other hero in the area.
If we try to blackmail him, not only is blackmail a crime (so we could get in more trouble), he could just burn our skeleton away, and pin it on somebody else. Hell he could pin it on Shoto if he was pissed off enough about the whole thing. But more likely he'd make it look like a Quirky mugging gone bad, and use the THREAT of pinning it on Shoto as leverage against the kid.

Let's not forget that this is a man who BOUGHT a woman, purchased her like fucking CATTLE, for the sole purpose of producing a more powerful child. >>
>>1928516
Oh I'm not saying we shouldn't support Shoto. We should. He's a good kid, and he NEEDS our support.
But he, and especially his mother, THE GLORIFIED SEX SLAVE, deserve to see this shitheel brought to fucking JUSTICE.
This isn't a bit of philandering, or some semi-shady business dealings, or being secretly gay.
This is human trafficking. He PURCHASED a human fucking being to be a BREEDING SOW, and when she'd finally had enough, he put her in a nuthouse to make sure nobody would believe her if she went to the cops.
He ACTIVELY ABUSES HIS SON, both physically and emotionally, in the name of "making him stronger", not because it's what said son wants, but because it's what HE, Enki Todoroki, wants.
All because he's butthurt about All Might being more popular than he is.

What the hell kind of Hero are we, if we just stand by and let this shit happen?

For clarification, I'm all for staying passive until we find out about Shotomom. We don't have that reason to be this angry just yet, but the MOMENT we find out this shitstain purchased a human life, I say we take steps to go full fucking nuclear option on his ass.

>>
Jesus, all these people talking about ruining Endeavor. He's a dick and incredibly self centered, but some of these accusations are crazy! Sex slave? She was no such thing. It was an arranged marraige, and that's not illegal, just frowned upon. Furthermore, Endeavor's training for todoroki is incredibly difficult and harsh, but it's done great things for todoroki. Look at him. He enters the series confident, capable, and in control of his powers. All those things likely due to endeavors training.
Compare that to momo, who knows her power but lacked the leadership and decision making that todoroki has. Admittedly it was done so endeavor can live out his dream of being #1 through todoroki, but most fathers do that. It's certainly nothing to try and ruin a man's career, lose the #2 hero, and hurt our mothers view of heroes for.
>>
>>1928617
Half this stuff we don't even know about. And it's interesting to think that Endeavor making his son the best hero he can be will likely save countless thousands of lives.

Unfortunantly that is true. I say we just keep being bro to Todo-kun so that even thought his father is trainning him to be something, that doesn't mean he needs to be or do such thing.

I just want to help him and make his life less of a suffering. And hopefully with Endeauvor trainning we will get good and loose our fear of fire.

Which is already showing up since we just slapped a hand covered in fire without flinching.
>>
>>1928617

In the same way that Joe Jackson being an abusive cockwaffle did great things for little MJ, sure. Kid could sing and dance like no other, but a lot of that was talent and skill, and he probably would have been just as good WITHOUT the psychological and physical abuse.
>Compare that to momo, who knows her power but lacked the leadership and decision making that todoroki has.
Yeah, clearly what she needed was to get smacked around more from a young age. THAT would have fixed her self-confidence issues!

You seem rather incensed about this anon, possibly hot under the collar even. It really comes down to Shoto even wanting Ushi to do this. Kid might want to put his ambitions of being a pro hero ahead of this and when that's through the evidence can be presented.

I typed cow in to google translate. I tried cowboy and cowgirl, but those looked trash.

Training is hard, but not as hard as the first class was.

There is a definitive difference between improving and starting. Your muscles no longer ache, but burn, a small but significant difference.

Burning muscles are still painful, but it's a pain closer to ripping off a scab than a bruise, it gets you fired up for the progress you are making.

The first class left you a shambling mess of bruises and muscular pain just to learn the very basics of wrestling.

The second one left you pumped as you started improving on the technique of your grapples, which Spring described as one of the Pillars for the Strong Style she is teaching you.

‘If you actually pretend to rely on wrestling as your main fighting style as a hero, we really shouldn't cut corners.' She told you. ‘Any technique that relies on any amount of cooperation with your foe is out. We are going fully off-script here.’

You also managed to snap the neck of a training dummy when trying the Dojo’s Signature Move, the Tiger Suplex. Considering it was meant to emulate human bones, it worries you a bit.

‘As you are now, you’d never pull it off that perfectly against a moving opponent, but keep in mind that martial art artists are always considered as armed for a reason.’ Spring said as she dragged the faux corpse into a supply closet. ‘Or this thing is just faulty and Great will go wild on the supplies guy.’

The third class was a perfect combination of the previous ones. You walked out beaten up and pretty purple, but with a wide grin on your face.

You managed to, on the very end of the class, break the cradle as Spring twisted your left arm over her shoulder, and try it on her. She obviously let you do it, but damn isn't it satisfying.

‘The original Rolling Cradle is meant to shatter bones, and it's pretty good at doing so, so be careful if you spar with it.’ She said after picking herself up ‘It's not our technique, but it was trusted to us by a good friend of this dojo, so don't make it look bad.”

By the time the fated day comes, your bruises have healed and you are about to set off in a high school uniform that’s a bit too uncomfortable in all ways.

You just enlarge it a bit, but it's still not your style.

You swap the shoes for your boots, since they aren't required by the school’s code.

When you are about to pocket your phone, it starts beeping.

You quickly unlock it, seeing that it's the ‘Big Hands & Little Pony’ chatroom.

>“Hey, Ushi, wanna come do the Walk with us?” Wrote Itsuka.

>“She won't get it either.” Sent Pony shortly after.

>“Right! The Walk is something some of us do here. When a big life changing moment comes, you cross the threshold together with your friends! We are going to do it on U.A’s gate. I know we’ve been in before, but it's symbolic.” Clarified Itsuka.

Or how about John "Stebby" Stebbins?
His actions during Operation Gothic Serpent in Somalia were genuinely heroic, a company clerk who stepped up to go in with a ground convoy and retrieve wounded when shit was hitting the fan. He earned a Silver Star for his heroism today. He IS a hero.
However he is ALSO a convicted rapist, serving thirty years at reduced rank of E-1 for having raped a child under the age of twelve "on diverse occasions".
http://www.armfor.uscourts.gov/newcaaf/opinions/2005Term/03-0678.htm
His reprehensible actions don't erase his heroism. I'd argue the film version of Black Hawk Down renaming an individual that IS clearly "Stebby" in order to avoid addressing any potential controversy was wrong as it denies his heroic actions in light of his later crimes. But nor does his heroism erase or excuse his reprehensible actions against a child.
While Endeavour's wrong actions aren't on THAT level of just, pure moral WRONGNESS, and while his heroics are on an inhuman level, I view it basically the same way.
Endeavour should be recognized for the lives he has saved. The Silver Star.
But he should ALSO face the consequences of his actions. The prison sentence.
Is there arguably a "right time" to do this? Yes. But the question is, will Ushi, the stereotypically Texan girl with the unthinking heroic instinct, who blitzed a massive rampaging killbot because somebody MIGHT get hurt by it, going to stop and think about that? Or will she go off half cocked because of her sense of justice being personally offended by Endeavour's actions, trying to help and potentially just making things worse through her lack of subtlety?
I honestly don't know, and it should be an interesting internal conflict for her.
Anyway, in the interest of not getting myself or anybody else any more worked up, I'm gonna let my half of this drop. We'll deal with all this stuff when/if we find out about any of it.

Okay anon we get it. But the main here is to make Todo-kun to move on. Some people do need to get revenge to do so. But in my opinion, Endeauvor wants to be reconized for making Todo what he is.

So making Todo completely over come him would be a bigger victory then destroying his hero career.

But then again that is my opinion. And i'm glad you are so dedicated to the quest.
>>
>>1928617
Dude, he literally straight up threatened Ushi and her mom.
If he was smart, he'd treat Ushi like a princess, to throw off future allegations, instead he gives the kind of threat you give to someone before you rape them.
>>
>>1928756
>rape threat
He said no such thing, come on. He was threatening to ruin her reputation, which, by the way, is exactly what would happen if you try and go against a highly regarded hero.

Learn to read, I said it was the kind of threat you give to someone before you rape them. Which it is.

And no, if the QM didn't want this kind of discussion, he shouldn't have caused this type of situation.
>>
>>1928756
Endeauvor thinks he's super scary. He's kinda like a Frank Miller Batman.

>>1928759
I know. But i didn't want to just ignore the subject. My opinion is to ignore endeauvor since his main goal is to acquire attetion and so reach the number #1.

But let's see how the story progresses before doing anything.
>>
Kind of a funny unexpected situation.
Endeavor's is pretty superhuman at everything... except socialization. The only thing he is particularly good at in that aspect is being scary.

Ushi is trash at socialization, but she has nerves of steel (for the most part). Anywhing but trying to scare her would, probably, have worked.

Neither of them knew about that about the other.

“Sure! And I have someone in mind.” You type back, then swipe away the app.
You look up the text Shoto sent you a few days ago telling you to download the U.A app.

The place is so huge that you need an app with GPS just to find your way to whichever room is your next class in, not counting the gyms and off campus facilities.

You tap his number and add it as IcyHot, then call him.

It takes him a few minutes to pick up, but he does take the call.

>“Ushi? I am getting dressed for school, what's the issue?”
“Good! That means you haven't crossed the school’s gate yet!”
>“Obviously.”
“Great, if you get there before I do wait for me by the gate!”
>“Why?”
“A silly bonding activity~?” You singsong nervously
>“Will it get us into trouble or cause us to be late?”
“I don't think so?” More like ‘hope so’.
>“Okay. I will wait by the gate.”
“Neat-o!” You reply with enthusiasm. “See you at school!”

The train ride is calm and uneventful, something probably related to the fact that it's close to 8AM and it's spring, unlike the exams that were taken in winter at the crack of dawn. That's why the train it's mostly filled with adults commuting to work instead of teenagers applying to Senior High.

Arriving at U.A as a student is a wonderful feeling.
With your student ID in your breast pocket wirelessly granting you access to the facilities, you feel like part of the elite even before actually doing anything.

Standing there, looking at his watch every few seconds is Shoto, wearing his own gray school uniform.

You wave at him and he…
It's more of a wrist movement than an actual wave, but you think he meant it as a wave.

>“We are not going to do some kind of trust exercise, right?” He asks you when you reach him. “We are already dangerously close to being late.”
“Don't worry.” You reply, scanning around for the Itsuka and Pony. “We just need to find the gals and we can get moving.”
>“The gals?”
“My friends! and a poor unfortunate soul!”
>“Ushi, over here!” You see a big hand next to the entry gate waving your way.
“There they are! Don't you worry, we’ll get in class in time for the counselor meeting or whatever lame ass first day activity we have on first period.” You assure him.

Once again, you grab his wrist and pull him along with you.
Considering you aren't exerting any amount of force comparable to what you would need to drag a boy currently five inches taller than you, and that he is walking with his normal gait, it's obvious he is just playing along.

You ‘drag' him to where the girls are.

>“I'm just saying that it would have been easier for everyone if you just told me what you were trying to do instead of dragging me here. I wouldn't have said no to a classmate.” Says a boy next to Pony, before noticing your arrival. “You too?”

Shoto flat out ignores him.

“So how do we do this?” You ask.
>“It's nothing grandiose, we just cross the gate at the same time.” Itsuka tells you before leaning in a d whispering “And who’s your friend?”
“Todoroki Shoto.” You whisper back.

Why the whispering?

>“We will not make it to class in time if we tarry any longer.” Shoto points out.
>“Let's do this.” Says Pony pulling the boy’s arm and causing him to stagger.

You share glances with Itsuka and Pony, who raise a foot each. The boy does the same.
You look at Shoto and raise a foot.
He does nothing.
You then roll your eyes at him.
He then raises his right foot.

Then you all cross the gate at once…
And your I.Ds start playing a melody.

“Fu…”
>“That is the warning bell, we have ten minutes to change our shoes and find our classroom.” Shoto explains.
“...udge. That's not that bad.”
>“We gotta get moving then, see you at lunch!” Says Itsuka, dashing off.
Pony… You think it's more of a trot than a jog, but she gets away fast too.

The boy just calmly walks away.

You look up U.As map and find that the first year's classrooms are pretty close to the entrance.
If you know where you are going there is no need to hurry.

So Shoto and you just walk through the campus, change your comfortable boots for some featureless and bland shoes and get into Class 1-A with minutes to spare.

Shoto walks in like it's no big deal, taking a seat next to a guy with a bird head, but you linger in the massive door frame.

There are all sorts of people inside.
Huge boys, a froglike girl, a… bunch of floating clothes?.. A pink girl, a dude with six arms and a cool mask, a smiling guy with red horned hair…
And pretty much all of them are on the same level as you, in one way or another.
Then you see the purple midget that ‘helped' you weeks ago.
That deflates your awe like a hole in a balloon.
Still, each of these..

You then feel an overwhelming force on your back.

“Out of my way bitch!” You manage to recognize spiky jerk as you feel yourself be tipped.

As you fall, you reach for him, trying to make him come kiss the ground with you.

However, he just takes a step, causing you to barely scratch at his blazer.

So you fall over your right shoulder onto the floor without ceremony.

>“Don't bother getting up.” He says as he literally walks over you, even if he is stepping around your limbs.

“...Just how petty can you be?”

You then hear the loud banging noise of someone hitting a desk with a hard object, the classic screech school chairs make when the user stands too fast, and yelling.

>“You can't attack your fellow students like that! Every single student in this room has earned their place in the prestigious U.A and is worthy of resp… Don't put your legs on the desk! Don't you respect anything here?!”

>“Not really! None of you is worth my time, where did you even come from, jazzhands!?” You hear that asshole laugh.

Then you feel a short, sudden pain on your leg and a green haired boy falls next to you, which for some reason, makes the spiky jerk stop laughing.

>“Just my luck…” He mumbles, then looks at you and his eyes open wide as he crawls away. “S-so-sorry! I-I I didn't mean to! I was just- the door, and you... the floor!”

As you ponder why he he acts like you were a combination of snakes, spiders and uranium, a three hands appear in your field of vision.

>“Sneak attacking a distracted girl… I can't think of something less manly. Are you okay?” Says the owner of one of the hands.

It's the red haired boy. You note that his hair simulates horns. Good taste.

The second hand is Shoto’s and it goes straight to your shoulder, cooling it down.

>“Doors are terrible places to stand. You could have been trampled.” He says.

The third one is not for you, but reaches for the green haired boy. A girl is helping him up as they talk, and while you can't make sense of what you hear them say, he kind of looks like he is about to piss himself or swallow his tongue.

>What do you do?”

I ,for one, skipped reading the rules for this quest's system.
Keep's thing exciting.
>>
>>1930596
It's One Roll Engine.
Basically we're trying to make sets of the same number.
Each set has a "height", the value of the number matched, and a "width", the amount of said number.
Results are annotated as "WxH".
So, for example, the spoilered set of numbers in >>1930339, if it were a roll, would have a width of 3, and a height of 5, and would be written as "3x5".
Height represents degree of success, width represents the speed at which the action is accomplished.

Actually MORE likely to injure us, though. If the weight isn't perfectly evenly distributed it puts undue strain on joints, and can cause serious damage to them. It's better to just go to the fucking gym and do proper weight training. And for the love of christ, FORM IS IMPORTANT. Fuck that crossfit bullshit and its emphasis on reps over form, you're just ASKING to injure yourself that way once you get to truly large amounts of weight.
>>
>>1930623
Instructor + Equipment = More expensive, and uses a timeslot a week, but gives results faster and may yield both attributes and skills.

Fumbling with equipment = Cheaper and can use whatever free time you have if you want, but results are slower, you are not going to get any skills, and may injure yourself.

You have enough money for a cheap used car or 15 months of gym if you don't use any part of it for anything else.

Agreed.

But we still don't know which part of the week our trainning with Endeauvor will be. Mic do we have any idea what the schedule with Endeauvor will be? Tiger's Den is on Wenesday depending what part of the weak Endeauvor's trainning takes. But we might not want to do that because tiring ourselfs is possible.
>>
>>1930706
We should probably have it so that we have at least a day between training at the Tiger's Den and training with Endeavor.
Also Mic, what is our wrestling instructor's quirk anyhow?
>>

Not being a hero, this has little relevance, so I'll tell you.

Also judging by certain events in canon, there's some sort of a "duty to retreat" type bullshit involved as well.
>>
>>1930831
I don't think Japan has any laws stating there is a duty to retreat in a situation where one may need to defend themselves.
I haven't checked in a few years, so don't quote me on that.
>>
>>1930834
I'm just trying to figure out a way to reconcile unlicensed Quirk use in self-defense being authorized with having to cover up just who it was that brought Stain in.
>>
>>1930839
Three young students broke the rules of their internship, which only granted authorization for quirk usage under supervision, to go hunt a criminal and meddling in Native's work, then when they had the chance to avoid it and runa way or for help,
they escalated it into a 3vs1 fight.
>>
>>1930847
Aren't the supervisor's to blame for letting the students get away at that point? Standing your ground seems like the best option is that situation anyhow.
>>
>>1930850
They did get punished, even if it was a slap on the wrist.
>>
>>1930847
>chance to avoid it and runa way or for help
That would imply a duty to retreat requirement. That is to say, a legal requirement to make a reasonable attempt to withdraw from a dangerous situation rather than immediately match force with force. And apparently one without a defense of others consideration, at that. Perfectly in line with what little of Japanese Quirk law has been explained, really. The lack of a defense of others consideration annoys me personally, but at the same time having one could be easily played by vigilantes.

While Iida was a fucking MORON for trying to hunt that crazy bastard down himself, once he was there, if he had run for help, Native would probably have been room temperature by the time he got back. And then Midoriya shows up, and if HE had gone for help, both Native AND Iida would probably have been corpses. And then if Todoroki had gone for help, that's still at least two corpses, possibly three if Stain got sick of Deku's shit and decided to just off the little punk.
>>
>>1930821
>>1930830
Remember that Illegals is a prequel though.
>>
>>1930868
The problem is that if they didn't cover up who beat Stain, then people would all start trying to be vigilantes and you get the huge shitstorm of quirk people doing whatever they want again. The police chief said what they did was the right thing, but they couldn't support the actions officially.

You aren't any high school student!
You an U.A accepted gonna-be-hero!
You offer help, not ask for it!

So you take hold of both Shoto and this redhead boy and haul yourself up in one swift motion deserving of a gymnastics medal…
If not for the fact that you don't actually manage to get your feet bellow you by the end of it.

Still, the boys catch you and keep you steady for the few seconds it takes you to regain your footing.

“...Thanks guys.” You say, taking a step away from them.
>“No problem, sorry you had to start the year this way.” Says the redhead.
“It's fine.” You lie. Not only you got bullied, your own attempt at showing off failed miserably.
>“You ought to have more chances to prove yourself, if not today, soon.” Shoto's attempt at being supportive sounds closer to a digital museum guide than anything else.
“Am I that easy to read?”
>“Yes.”
“Thanks for the honesty.” You reply, fishing your ID from your pocket and giving it a quick read. “I'll just go take my seat... Now, where’s seat 6?”
>“That one is close to mine! Follow me, the Teach should be here any minute now!” Says the redhead, walking into the grid of desks.

You follow him, taking the chance to shoot your best death glare at the guy who shoved you onto the floor. It's not too good, you know you just look like you are about to throw a tantrum, but it feels good to do it anyway.

He is too busy shooting his own at the guy who tripped over you to notice. His’ is just as bad as yours though. Lot's of killing intent, but looks cartoonishly angry rather than menacing.

Your guide stops in front of an empty desk next to a blonde boy.

“This one is yours, the dude next to you is Kaminari and my seat is right at the other side of his. The name’s Kirishima, by the...”

He is staring.
Not at you, but behind you.
The background sounds of the other students quickly die down.
It gives you the chills… For about half a second.
You just leave your backpack on your desk and turn around too.

There is a disheveled man by the door pulling down his sleeping bag. With an unkempt beard and moustache, long greasy hair, a lanky complexion and more scarf than anyone should ever wear, he looks like what Stranger Danger PSAs talk about, but with pants.

>“...It took you eight seconds to quiet down.” He says. “Life is too short already, make better use of it. I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shota. Pleased to meet you.”

You are pretty glad you didn't say that outloud.

He then digs around in the sleeping bag, pulling what you recognize as the top of U.A’s P.E getup.

>“Wear these.” He says “Immediately.”

He then turns around and walks away, still talking.

>“Meet me at the P.E grounds when you are ready.”

And just like that, he is gone and the conversations start with new vigor.

>“He's a teacher!?”
>“Why do we need to change for a ceremony?”
>“I've never heard of him…”
>“I wanted to meet Hound Dog.”
>“Where are the P.E grounds?”
>“Where are the changing rooms!?”

You just pull out your phone and look up the map.
Unlike before, a red line shows a path for the girls’ changing room and a blue one to the boys’ one, then a purple one connecting them on the P.E grounds.

Nifty.

You can see that everyone has done the same, or in the case of the pink girl and Kaminari, look over the shoulders of Kirishima.

You hear all sorts of complaints and comments on the way and particularly in the changing room, along with some staring and whispering pointed at you and a black haired girl, comparable in assets to you and a lot taller than you currently are.

>“What do you think are we going to do? Shouldn't we be having Homeroom on, you know, our homeroom?” asks what you assume to be an invisible girl.
>“It has to be some sort of physical activity, a bonding game perhaps? It would make sense with the P.E attire, location and class.” Suggests the tall girl.

A few minutes of walking and listening to the other girls, you converge with the boys on the P.E. grounds, where Mr. Aizawa waits.

>“You are all here.” He states. “We can begin the test.”
“A test?!” You all ask.

You haven't even considered studying on your possible schedules!

>“It’s not graded.” He says, calming you all down before speaking again. “lt’s a quirk apprehension test.”
“A quirk apprehension test?!” You all ask.

There is a certain appeal in shouting as a group.

>“But what about the welcome ceremony!? And the guidance counselor meeting!?” One of the girls asks.

You are pretty sure it's the owner of the hand that helped the green haired boy earlier.

Turns out that, paraphrasing Mr. Aizawa,
‘Heroes aren't allowed to have nice things.’
Also, Japan still hasn't gotten its shit together and made a Standardized Quirk Test like America has.

>“Bakugo, how far could you pitch a softball in middle school?” Asks Mr. Aizawa, tossing spiky jerk a ball
>“67 meters” he replies.
>“Use your quirk this time, as long as you stay in the circle, anything goes.”
>“You got it.” He stretches and poses, clearly showboating.

>“DIIIIEE!!!”

The ball is violently propelled in a way that gets closer to mortar shell than ball pitch, blowing everyone's hair back.

Never fucking mind, that's a whole new level for someone you knew for loud fingersnaps and being particularly rude.

“Who is going to fetch that now?” You ask outloud.
>“Did he just shout ‘Die’?” You hear Kirishima ask nearby.

Then a pad in Mr. Aizawa’s hand starts beeping and he shows it to the class.

‘705.2m’ it says.

“Before anything else, you must know what you are capable of. From this metric we can build upon your ‘Hero Foundation’.”
>“705 meters!? For real!?” Kaminari says, pumped up
>“We can use our quirks? I love this place already!” says… nope. You don't know this guy. He is somehow remarkably plain though.
>“It'll be so much fun! This is awesome!” Says the pink girl.

This is one of those times that you can't help but watch unblinking how someone shoves her foot so far down her mouth that she could be playing footsies with her breakfast.
Had you not been so close, you would have laughed at how everyone took a step away from her, but being under Mr. Aizawa’s gaze, indirectly as it was, you can understand where they come from.

Mr. Aizawa didn't take that well.
At all.

>“...Fun you say?” He asks, lifting his hair off his face. “ You came here for three years of fun? I thought it was to become heroes.”

It's somehow amazing how he manages to get creepier by the second.

>“Very well, let's make it fun then. The student who ranks last in total points from the eight trials shall be branded a lost cause, and will be instantly expelled.” He says, wearing an expression that looks just like the mid point between a grin and a grimace.

>“U.A is known for it’s freedom. Your freedom to use your quirks, and our freedom to dispose of you if we find you lacking.” He continues. “Welcome to Heroics. For three years you'll find nothing but one hardship after the next, not unlike the life of a pro. There will be no hanging out wit friends at McDonald's after classes for you.”

>”Now go get ready for the 50 meters dash.” he finishes, pointing at a track with a robot on its end.

You have no idea of any mosts of this guys and gals quirks, and only one of them knows yours.

Some are nervous, some are exited!
One is making a puddle of sweat on the ground...

But you are fired up! This is your time to shine, specially after that fuck up on the homeroom. You have a reputation to build!

Yes that is why it would be expected that they are prepared for one of her size and not someone that becomes a titan in the middle of the school.

To clear the confusion, Ushi's "Max Size" refers to the 16m she can reach without sapping mass from anywhere else. She reached 20+ on the exam and she started to get lightheaded.

Also,Mount Lady goes to 20m.
Same category for purposes of breaking stuff though.
>>
>>1932042
