(Sorry for the long delay. Had issues)Last time on Document: Artemis...You, Deltorian Tessan, took a tour through the Department 7 building after waking up from a short cybernetic repair session. After encountering some of your interesting colleagues, you have been called for a new assignment by the Director of Department 7. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Negotiator Silvertongue to Faze Squadron... Negotiations are over. Lethal force has been authorised and you are clear to breach. Good luck." With that, the response unit standing next to you detonates the breaching explosive and the two of you breach. As you enter the building, the sound of a high powered rifle cracks, glass shattering and the short screams of pain as a hostile in the main room goes down. Your comms crackle a bit, a squadmate retorting with, "Tango 3 down... sudden heart failure." Flash grenades and gunfire echoes down to you and your partner. When you enter the room, three hostiles are down, and two more are left, with five hostages, lying on the floor around the room. As the one closest to you fires on you, the rounds doing almost nothing as thud into your armoured vest. Leveling your "Black Shark" carbine, blood splatters onto the floor behind him as he falls. The rest of Faze squadron surrounds the last hostile, quickly pacifying the target. As he is escorted out of the building, you and your companion begin first aid of the wounded hostages. You didn't expect the Director to be busy when you arrived at his office, being told to return later. When you left to get your stuff, the responses units began scrambling and the next moment you were going along to help. Now you stand watching over five stabilised hostages. After everything dies down, what do you do?(a) Report back to HQ. This was a side tangent and they response units can clear up the rest of this stuff.(b) Meet up with Faze squadron. Go and debrief and enjoy a laugh or two.(c) Watch over the hostages. First aid states that you should watch over people in case they relapse until medical support arrives.(d) Try to smoke. You know that you probably won't be able to, but maybe those AI's will be benevolent today.(picking d requires you to pick another option)

Rolled 2 (1d2)The winner is...
Being the person to perform first aid on all these people, duty of care dictates that do need to make sure that they make it until emergency services arrived to take them to the hospital. So, reluctantly, you sit waiting with five slightly in pain people. It was the perfect time to get an idea of the context behind this situation. Carefully easing the only conscious hostage, a man whose only wound was a shot to the foot (still painful), into a position where you could begin asking questions, you got an idea behind the situation. This attack occurred in a small conference building, with five men of around twenty five, stormed in and shot up the place. As explained by the briefing, they were Artemis initiative radicals, and by attacking this place, they thought that they could spread the word of "the truth". It was pretty much the same story of the last five hostage situations around the world. all of which have been increasing since the beginning of this year. When the medical services arrived, you carefully tucked a Department 7 compensation tag into his pocket. A reward for information.(a) Head back to HQ.(b) Check in with Faze Squad
>>1853256>(b) Check in with Faze SquadSo some weird cult is randomly taking hostages to spread word of "the truth." Sounds like Cobra starring Stallone. When do we get sunglasses? We'll look into this, but first check in with the crew.

Faze squad is one of the best heavy response units of Department 7. Whether childhoods of playing first person shooter games has aided their skills still is yet to be seen. Composed of four squad members, all hailing from FBI SWAT, Solar Army, and a small jaunt into "black ops" (that never existed), Faze squad was surprisingly under staffed for Heavy response. Then again, they are mostly supporting units, attached to other stuff. It just so happened that this situation could be taken out with a guy with a sniper rifle, and three guys with lightning reflexes. How squad naming works over comms is the squad name, and an assigned number. In Faze's case, it's Faze-1 and so on. They have their own call signs but who cares about those. In terms of you, being a specialist who is tagged onto the squad, your comm name is the squad attached and your call sign, which currently is "Faze-Escort". I would tell you the reason why your call sign is Escort, but that's a story for another time. The briefing was quick. Mainly thanks for tagging along, and criticising Faze-3, annoying mid mission outburst, but besides that there was nothing much else besides going over the mission and the field debrief. You take some time to change out of your combat suit, back into your coat and realign your revolver holster. As the Faze squad's APC heads back to HQ, and you are about to jump onto your own Hover-bike to get back, a transmission comes in, Angel in the top right corner or your vision slightly jumpy. "Director Zero is contacting you directly Del. Ummm... Better not keep him waiting." The Director gently straightens, and very plainly says, "Deltorian. Plans have changed. My associate is arriving in an hour at the London-Paris Magnetic Railway station. I require you to pick them up and escort them to Department 7 headquarters. They will know that you are their escort with the key phrase, 'What is the best card?' That is all."What do you do now? You have an hour.(a) Drop off your hover-bike to get a car or something. They probably have files or something to carry.(b) Look into the Mag station and begin planning "contingency plans".(c) Get there, relax and wait for them. Nothing bad could happen at a Mag rail station.
>>1853414>(b) Look into the Mag station and begin planning "contingency plans".Paranoia! No good spy goes leaves home without it!
(b) Wins. Writing.
Paranoia is a very important trait to have in this business. The fact that the Director has told you to meet with a complete stranger, probably means this is some off the records black ops type thing. Reading that thought from your mind, Angel immediately pulls up a blueprint of the station, and begins calculating permutations as to different events that could occur and started cycling through them in her own head... I mean AI core.Arriving at the station with ten minutes to spare, as it was apparently the time that would have the least "dangerous" situations occurring, find yourself watching as trains after trains blur past, with commuters rushing and hurrying to try and get to where they need to be. Unconsciously, the phrase, "Public transport is predictability's best friend." slips from your mouth. As if jinxing yourself, a bright red frame appears around the face of a man standing close by. The criminal record begins scrolling down the side of your vision. A few more red squares appear in your vision, all dotted around the station, as the target mag rail arrives into the station.(a) Confront the guy in front of you. Loud and proud.(b) Try to find the target before the others arrive and try to escort them quietly out of the station.(c) Observe and wait. Knowing Zero, people he doesn't describe are usually black ops agents or some kind, and you know him well.

The target was arriving in the station, meaning that half of the people here are ruled out. Also, they would at least have some kind of luggage, because Zero usually has people bring data in paper form or in storage devices. With that Angel had marked out almost everyone that was fitting the criteria, and with that, you quickly proceeded in.The people with red tags, all of them had a small scrolling bar with previous convictions and suspected involvement placed next to them. What you didn't expect was the a single word that appeared in all of their profiles. Artemis. This was bad, and your already beating heart increase its speed.Roll 1d100. Writing... Damn stupid NAT 1's... This is the second time...
One would have found this situation incredibly daunting. Not only did you have to recognise and meet with an unknown target, you also needed to evade roughly six or so people who would pretty much attack you on sight. Then you had to get yourself, and your target out of the immediate vicinity. All this without alerting a single person of you presence. Luckily for you, two things happened. Two of the three red tagged people on this side of the mag rail were being held up by a massive congestion of people. The other one, the people exiting the mag rail predominantly exited from the one that you were at.In no time, Angel had scanned every passenger that was getting of the mag rail from this exit that fit the criteria, and surprisingly, only three people matched. The first two were a couple that looked like they were out to holiday in London and seeing how neither of them had high degrees in administration or would have passed the mandatory physical examination, it was very unlikely. The other one, was a girl around your age, 25, with short brown hair and bright blue eyes. Clutched in her arms was a small black bag, that you instantly recognised as a Department 7 field operative data bag. She was tall for her age, but then again, your just 6"0', and Londoners are quite short in comparison. As if the crowd knew your intentions, they began moving towards her and before you know it, your standing within a metre. You only whispered the key phrase, but her head snapped quickly to you and like that she began following after you. The goons around had somehow all gotten pulled out of the crowd. Apparently some of the civi's called them out and the security guards were on them."Thank you and pleasure to make your acquaintance. My name is Harper Pierre. You must be Escort. Until further orders, I am to follow you." With that you return to base, but is there something you wish to ask while on the ride back?(a) Return to base in silence. No questions.(b) "Why are you here?"(c) Personal questions. Very important questions.

The ride back was quiet. You wanted it like that and so the awkward silence in sued. Seeing as you didn't get a car, Harper was left string behind you, having to hug onto you to stop herself from falling off the hover-bike. It was a sensation that you have experienced before, but then again, most of the time, you're not half suffocating. Harper was strong, or very scared. Whether it was the former or the later, you didn't really care. When you get to HQ, something was off. Harper was still fine, after your somewhat reckless driving, and she's been staring at the back of your neck. She bit her lip and her expression told you that she had a question. The first part was odd. Most people get sick after their first ride on the hover-bike. Even you did for the first five. The second part, anyone would have asked you by now, but something was holding her back. Then again, the mission before last was for the senator of Norway, and his daughter pretty much did the same thing, but more vocally. The assignment said that you needed to go off and drop her off at HQ, but it didn't say where in HQ. So, where are you going to take her?(a) Operations sector. Field operatives sector to be exact.(b) Administration sector. Find a big wig who knows about what's going on.(c) Zero's office. Find him and drop her off with him.
>>1855629>(c) Zero's office. Find him and drop her off with him.

Normally, any person in the Department would have needed to have gone through six different forms and screenings to see Zero. Luckily, you know of a way to contact him. The Ten specialist meeting. The Ten meeting was created to allow the Ten to converse and direct some of the new operations in the Department. You, being an over glorified bodyguard, usually miss out on doing stuff because you are busy, but you have never been banned from attending. Zero usually arrives to record important information and explain classified operations. When you arrived in the room, sat playing with a new toaster was the current number 9, Drake "Blacksmith" Leonard. "Ah, Del, long time no see. Are you here to ask for that marshmallow roasting upgrade to your arm? Horrible design isn't it." He said, toting the toaster at your face. The nanomachines that were his chair shifted, changing the design into a new design. The images of other inventions and theories were strewn across his section of the table. Soon the rest of the Ten filtered in, all somewhat surprised at your presence and after them, arrives Zero. Noticing Harper, he nods in acknowledgement and proceeds with the meeting. The only person to enter, (like always) was the Ace. "These are the current operations in progress. Contribute what you can to them."What will you do?(a) Ignore the process. Anything you add will be done better by others.(b) Daydream and think about past events, alongside talk to Angel and Daemon.(c) Actually try to contribute. (Roll)
The meeting was just like the other time you sat in. Boring stuff about organising response units and stuff like that. In fact, Angel had decided to draw pictures in your vision and you didn't care. Although, Daemon did try to erase some of the pictures. Every so often when you turned to face Harper, she would either be writing something into a Comms unit, or just listening with a song. When the meeting finished, you had almost fallen asleep and a very detailed picture of a pelican eating the icon of Daemon. He wasn't happy about that. The Ten slowly exited the room with you, Zero and Harper sitting in the room. The moment the door closed, Zero was already bringing up images and data in Artemis. "Deltorian. I am guessing that the operation that occurred earlier today was affiliated with Artemis. I'm also guessing that Artemis were at the station, seeing as I got six arrest forms about suspected Artemis agents. Do you draw any connects about this?" With that Harper produced a small set of data storage devices, and after a short period where she accessed and brought up more data on Artemis. "Harper here, is the contact of the Ace. Before you ask why I don't have direct contact with the Ace, they disappeared a few years due to the rise of Artemis. You see, Artemis wishes to bring down the World Council. With the Ace out of the way, Department 7 would not be able to defend and as such their goal will be more likely to work. As you witnessed, they wish to find the Ace, and in doing so, they have targeted Harper here. So, until I have deemed the Artemis threat as minimal or nonexistent, you are to provide protection to Harper." With that, the drives were handed to you, and Zero exited the room. There was a snickering coming from the vents above you followed by loud clanking noises. Knowing who would have wanted to listen in on the conversation and gotten into the , it was probably Michael. And so you sit contemplating life following after the girl sat before as your best friend laughs at your situation...And so ends this thread. Hopefully next part will be next Sunday.
