Come One, Come All; Welcome to ANOTHER ICARUS RISING QUEST

I am your humble QM, Weaver!

You lean back as the class begins, considering how many of them were not involved in your little Cadre, but you and Ruby take the time to judge and comment on the various weapons you got to see and even Pyrrha would chime in on tactics. All and all it was amusing afternoon.

That is until your group started to be called down.
At first it was Pyrrha and Jaune, which only reinforced your need to teach the boy as his showing was...lacking. From there it was other pairings from exclusively your cadre. Worser still, they were pairings from teams and even worse than that...it was always partners. You could practically feel the predatory grin Yang was giving you as she no doubt saw it herself.

You could practically hear the joy in Yang’s footsteps when you were called down.

Intent on harm? my friend ofcourse not, we'l obviously stop the moment her aura drops and injuries become a possibility.
Until then it would be downright disrespectful not to give Yang a proper fight.
>>
>>1819792
Oh yeah, you're right.
I forgot Luci's in a perfectly calm, non-panicked state of mind and he isn't being forced to fight the girl he may or may not have a crush on.

>>
>>1819746

As you make your way down the stairs, you do your best to think about the information available to you. You’re at roughly two thirds of your aura, and given your brace you were going to be slower than your opponent. Speaking of your opponent she was motivated, no doubt upset and had the advantage in close quarters. Even on your best day in a full out fight you might consider this challenging but in your current state.

This was going to be difficult.

Standing opposite Yang you draw Lybras from your back and hold it, blades pressing towards the ground. Looking at the blades another problem occurs to you, the blades themselves would prove a danger to her more than yourself. The fight feels as if you’ll have one hand tied behind your back, but you’ve dealt with worse.

Looking to Ms.Goodwitch you nod and she calls the match.

Almost immediately Yang is rushing you, gauntlets engaged as a salvo of shells is sent your way. You dive right out of the way, barely bringing Lybras up in time to catch a heel kick from the girl on the flat of the blade. Instead of holding this struggle she kicks the axe up with her free leg, firing her gauntlets at the floor and giving herself some room.

You take after Yang and deliver a swing to your axe, catching her gauntleted hand and leaving her open for a kick from your weighted brace, sending her skidding across the tiled floor. Though the dust you see her moving and steady your axe, firing the twin shells at the shape and see it stagger further back.

Suddenly however the dust clears and you see Yang, eyes a deep red before taking charging at you, a yell escaping her lips.

You take the fraction of a moment to look at the board and see that her Aura has diminished roughly to the same level yours had been before the fight began but by the time you look back the girl is in your face, arm cocked back to deliver a blow to your chest. There isn’t enough time to even think as you grip the axe by the blade and hold its haft in the way of the blow. You brace yourself as best you can and push forward to meet the blow and hopefully spare yourself.

With a sound akin to nails on a chalkboard your arms are thrown back as Lybras haft is blown in two pieces, sending you skidding backwards but still on your feet.

Throwing away the busted halves you see Yang realize just what had happened, but her hesitation proves to be her mistake. You rush her, fists clenched and eyes locked on hers. Seeing you charging you see her glare and rush to meet you. As she lashes out you grip her wrist and pull her close, and bury your knee into her gut before stepping back, and delivering an uppercut to her head, to which she grabs with her now free hand.

You look down at her as she fires her gauntlet, pushing your arm up over your head before slamming her own fist into your chest. The pain is blinding as your body is trapped in close proximity, but you return with a hammer blow on her trapped arm in response.

You let go of her wrist in an attempt to back away but she grabs your wrist with surprising strength. You go to punch her with your remaining hand but she manages to grab that one as well. You’re trapped here with nowhere to go as you try and strain your prosthetics to free yourself but to no avail. You’re trapped and powerless in this woman’s grip and you have no way to escape.

Almost reflexively your Semblance kicks in attempting to eat away at her, just as it had all those years ago but her own Aura is resisting it and with a final roar she puts both her feet to your chest and kicks off as she fires her weapons.

The pain is blinding and you aren’t sure of exactly what hurts more, your chest or your limbs as you are vaguely aware of them being ripped from your frame. As you continue to sail further backwards everything seems to go dim for a moment, you aren’t sure if you’re even screaming at the agony of it or the humiliation you feel. The last thing you see is the shocked and horrified Lilac eyes of Yang Xaio Long, her face screwed in an expression of terror as she stands there, your arms limply hanging in her grip.

>>1819865
You are awake again. Though you’re pretty certain it’s only been a few seconds, at least it seems that way given that you’re still looking up at the ceiling of the auditorium. As your senses come back to you, you can hear the distant sounds of screaming, no doubt at the fact that your limbs are no longer attached to your body. You realize that Khrone is beside you, and from his expression he looks equal parts afraid and concerned. After a moment he manages to help you up into a parody of a sitting position and you see the sight before you. Mars and Violet are deathly silent, though you can see that Violet is far paler than you ever recall seeing her. The rest of your Cadre is in similar states of shock and horror realizing that it was not just your hands that you replaced.

Yang however, Yang is utterly inconsolable.

She is sat exactly where she had been standing moments ago, shaking and looking at her still gauntleted hands, your limbs either side of her prone frame. You look at Khrone, who looks back at you with a solemn expression; You both know she hadn’t intended it, there was no way she had but still, the facts were facts.

The whole world knew the truth about what you were.

It's a standard storytelling technique, gotta have some drama between two people that are getting close to each other so that they can both grow and adapt. Along the lines of nothing is perfect so you gotta take the good with the bad.
Luci and Yang are a lot alike in some ways both have angers issues etc.

Right now is just a pivotal moment in "Yang Route," do we give up? Do we press on? Now is the moment that defines Yang Route in particular but also shows who Luci is even though it's only been like 3 days since the story started.

With some serious help from Khrone you manage to get to your feet and slowly make your way to the collapsed Yang in the center of the arena. She looks at you, terrifed but you give the most reassuring smile you can (Though you’re almost certain it looks very out of place and more akin to a madman grinning at a puppy he’s about to skin) and look at your limbs.

“Uh...I uh...Don’t suppose I can get a hand here...or two?” You ask, trying to inject humor into the whole situation.

Considering she flinches at the pun, you realize perhaps doing that was not the best plan. She looks shocked and for a moment you almost think she’s going to run when instead she leaps to her feet and hugs you. You can almost feel your ribs straining as you hear her mumble ‘i’m sorry’ over and over.

Explaining the arms is probably good considering what just happened. But, Icarus over all will be difficult, also there's 4 other people from Icarus there so it's not just Luci's burden. For that it'd probably be better to make a vow with the others to just explain over time, I'm sure even Mars would agree Icarus isn't exactly a great thing to just explain.

>B. Just accept the hug, you both need it.

You want to open your mouth to say something but you decide instead to just lean into her embrace, you do your best to assure you you’re alright, but the sudden feeling of tingling down your left side as Khrone slips your limb back on doesn’t help you. You’d gesture at him but given that the connections were still returning you couldn’t even flip him off. Yang clearly doesn’t believe you’re alright and just stays there, rooted in place with your one-armed boy in your embrace.

Feeling the same tingly feeling on your right makes you jump a little and Yang is startled back but you shake your head.

“It’s fine, really, seriously i’m okay.” You say, but the fact that your arms continue to stay flat at your sides when you try and gesture to prove it not helping you.

She looks at you, but frowns; Probably realizing the truth.

“Lucius I...I didn’t mean to.” She stammers, and again you go to hold up your hand.

Or you try to at least.

This was gonna be a long few minutes.

so i've been speed reading through the past threads and i have few questions, but my main ones are, why don't we get a bonus for fist fight against mooks when our arms are metal ,will we ever get good at social interaction and not have a fucking panic attack that gives us like a -30 modifier?
>>
>>1820120
When we figure out what social interaction is, Anon. We've been living as nomads for most of our life at this point; social interaction is practically alien to us.
>>
>>1820120
We don't get modifiers (sometimes) because Weaver also uses fluid DC's.

We will probably get less shit at interacting with people once we have more experience with it. Remember that this is day 3 back in civilization after spending years 9-17 innawoods

Even with your limbs about as effective as wet tissue paper (really strong, bulletproof tissue paper) you look up in the stands and simply say “Conference room, Ten minutes.” And with that you simply look at Goodwitch; At first she seems aghast at the idea of you leaving class early but having just watched the spectacle she relents as you walk for the doors and back to the dorms.

You barely get fifty feet away from the building when the rest of the group is rushing to huddle around you, though it is made difficult by the dozens of students attempting to ask and pester you about what happened. You stay utterly silent and simply continue to walk, mostly because your arms wouldn’t raise themselves to push people out of your way if you wanted them to.

You’ll deal with that later.

Stepping into the empty conference room you take the chair at the farthest end of the room nearest the wall display behind you and wait for the rest to join you.

>>
>>1820174

Story time. And as much as Luci might not want to get Mars, Violet, and Khorne involved.

Essentially, us 4 new each other long ago. That's also why all that's happened, happened. From the fight with Mars, to running off and jumping off a cliff. (Also get emotional during all this building up to a crescendo) Look to the other 3 and say in a vague sense a lot of bad things happened in the past, things that are extremely hard to say (hopefully they nod in agreement).
You want to explain but it's something that's extremely painful. Imagine what they just saw, but multiply it by 100. Say you want to be a good team leader, and that hopefully one day you'll be able to lay it all out very clearly what happened. But for now, simply say the four of you all lost something in the past, whether it was an eye, a leg, or your arms. And you all have to live with that.

One by one the members of the Cadre joins you, taking seats all around the table, however Cardin takes an extra moment to enter. You look at him for a moment before he presents the head from the bar the night prior. You can’t help but chuckle at the display before you look to Mars and Khrone.

“So, you’re most likely wondering exactly why we’re having this little talk. Or maybe you aren’t.” You start, your left hand twitching slightly, as it slowly raises up to the table. Yang flinches at the sight, as you had still not replaced the bandages and they were bare, metallic and reflecting the light of the room.

Khrone, seeming to pick up on what you wanted takes a step beside you, putting a hand on your shoulder.

“What you saw wasn’t great, but...well. Where do we start this story?” You fumble, and thankfully Khrone picks up.

“As you may have figured out from the last two days, but Lucy and I grew up each other.” He begins, nodding to Mars and Violet as he spoke. “What many of you probably don’t realize is that Mars and Violet are ALSO from our youth. We all...sort of grew up together, sort of.” He continues, looking down.

“See, Violet, Mars and I were good friends, but we were good friends because of our common interest: Making fun of Lucius.” He admits, and you can see the surprise on many of the faces, you also look down trying to ignore the sudden font of memories to the time.

“Back then Lucius had everything, like the rest of you. However with his bad leg we would always bully him because he well, he wasn’t like the rest of the children. That is until our settlement was attacked and...and he saved us; And more then that he saved me.” He reveals, setting his leg on the table before pulling up the pant to reveal his metallic leg.

“We all lost something back then, and Lucy lost more than most of us.” He finishes, gesturing to your still semi-functional legs.

Immediately hands are shooting up all over the room, however the first to be called on is Ren. He seems tense, as does Nora beside him; He speaks however and disrupts your thoughts.

“What settlement?” He asks.

The words are already past your lips before you can stop yourself, the same answer you had always given. “Sapphire Springs, in Atlas.”

This immediately prompts Weiss to ask you where in Atlas, to which you have no answer. You had never been told exactly where the settlement had existed, and considering how you had been unconscious when you were airlifted you had no exact answer. This doesn’t answer her question and just prompts a further question from the ever-excited Nora!

“How crippled are you?!”

You can feel the tension in the room skyrocket, and Ren quietly nudge Nora for the bluntness.

You sigh, and look down at your hands; This was always a question you had to argue with, even in your own head. Were you really disabled, hindered by your….injuries. In the most basic definition of the word, yes; You exactly that. Crippled, weak, broken. But every day since you left Atlas said the contrary. You had survived, thrived even, when such handicaps would otherwise tell you.

Your internal debate must have gone on for longer than you expected, because the room had stayed deathly quiet since the question was asked.

After a moment further contemplating you answer. “I guess the only real way to answer is Yes. I am crippled.” You say, and you can feel Khrone’s hand grip at your shoulder. It isn’t something any of them probably want to hear you admit but you give a dry chuckle.

“I’ve always been a cripple, Khrone; Hell that’s what you all used to laugh about.” You inform him as you bring your arms up, resting the elbows on the table.

You see sadness in many eyes, terror in others and it only manages to piss you off. You slam your hands onto the table with force, startling everyone as you look at them.

“Don’t think for a SECOND that you should pity me.” You growl out, your face contorting for a moment before you manage to calm yourself.

“You can ask Khrone, Mars, Violet and Oobleck about just what i’ve gone through, what i’ve overcome. And the fact that it’s led me here has given me a chance to try again, to try and have at least a semblance of normalcy I never had as a kid. You can leave now, leave the cadre, leave the team.” You say, your confidence already turning to fear. “Because yes, i’m a broken, broken freak in charge of all of you. If you don’t like that i’m giving you an out here. However just know that if any of you call on me...ask for help, anything.” You say, looking at each person in the room one by one as you stand.

“I will do it. No hesitation, no questions asked.” You finish before stepping out of the room and closing the door behind you.

It’s only after that point that you finally let out a breath that you didn’t know you were holding.

You walk across the hall and into the now singular room that occupies the space. Opening the door you can’t help but smile at the scene before you. Furnaces, Hammers, tools and forges line the walls and there is even a small door to the storage area. You grin and lock the door, taking a long while to inspect the various pieces of equipment.

Oh this was PERFECT.

Opening up into the store room you find bar after bar of metal. Nothing expensive by far but still material; Material you could easily transmute to fit your needs. Grabbing a few dozen bars you stack them in the center of the room before moving to the small terminal in the corner. Fiddling with it for a moment you leap back as a three Dimensional cube appears in the center of the room.

Touching at it you smile with enough intensity you’re almost worried it’ll break your face. It’s a holographic designing system, your very own floating blueprint.

This was better than perfect.

Standing in front of the cube you spend a little time flexing and moving your fingers, watching as the square slowly bends and twists at your gestures.

Now then, what do you get to work on?

You decide that you should keep it to the same range bracket and decide on a more medium range weapon. However even with this in mind you have to decide on an important point. You decide that it would perhaps be better to go for sheer upfront damage over area of effect. In many of your recent fights what’s been more important was the sheer single point damage to pierce bone over knocking them back. To complement this focus on damage you focus on:

You decide to up the Caliber significantly, so much so that the rounds it fires would be more at home on something like and Atleasian armored train or heavy weapons platform. It makes you giddy at the thought, because thanks to your arms you could handle that kind of recoil with ease. From that point you have to factor in the last piece of the puzzle: Hand-to-Hand weapons. After a moment of debate you decide on:

>A. An Axe. You’ve used these enough to be more than comfortable

Looking at the floating blueprint in front of you the weapon is starting to take shape. The large magazine that sticks from the top is fixed in order to make it a functional blade, with the rounds added through the use of a massive stripper-clip or by hand if needed. Looking between the two forms you notice that the blade is narrow, but given how much weight the assembly gave you it would do plenty of damage. Looking at it all something feels like it's….missing. But what is it?

You realize that it isn’t that you’re missing anything as much as it is that it lacks the ability to fire quickly and decide that you should make a weapon to go alongside it. You set that project aside for a later date however, as the massive weapon before you takes much of your precedence. Even as you begin to grab the materials and transmute them in preparation for working you think on the metaphorical statue you will be heuwing from the material and decide to give the weapon a name befitting of its power, its simple and deadly elegance. Ariadne. It is a simple name but a elegant one, fit for a lady of her shape (once it’s done at least). Setting your materials down you turn on the forge and watch as the cool metal interior begins to turn red hot. You make sure the door is locked and begin to pull the blueprint apart piece by piece, the individual parts automatically showing sizes, thickness and other such materials as you begin to add small portions of a few of the ingots into the smeltery to begin melting them.

You lose yourself between the glow of the forge and the sound of you hammering against the hot metal. You spend what feels like a few hours, sharpening, shaping and quenching pieces and setting them on a table to the side. You feel neither exhaustion or hunger as you work, and not even the pounding on your door drags you out of your trance.

You even take time to detail and embellish the weapon, the barrels jacket is crisscrossed in bands of gold and bronze, all the way back to the base. The Magazine, receiver and casing is made of the same alloy as your arms. This was only logical as, given that it was the business end of the axe it would need to take punishment.

You did not miss the chance to embellish this part of the weapon here, as you’ve also added brass filigree to the receiver; The emblem of Icarus emblazoned within it. By the time you finish polishing, oiling and checking the mechanisms of your weapon checking the time you see that it is now nearly one in the morning. This surprises you more than anything as it has been nearly seven hours crammed in this room with nonstop working.

You place Ariadne into her new compact form, and slip her onto your back. She’s much heavier than Lybras before her, but it would not be much of a detriment to your usual weight. After creating a few stripper clips you stuff them into your jacket before unlocking the door to the workshop and stepping outside. What you see is something you had not expected.

Khrone, Yang, Jaune, Ruby, Pyrrha, Ren and Nora, all in their pajamas asleep against the wall.

You sneak as quietly as you can to your room and store your weapons beneath your bed and change into your pajamas before looking back outside. Part of you feels guilty now having kept them all up and asleep in the hall, but you aren’t sure if waking them up would be the better thing to do or not.

You give a small smile and quietly move to Khrone, carrying him slowly to the room that makes up his teams. Creek the door open slightly before pushing it slightly more ajar and walking him to the empty bed in the room. You do this as slowly as you can, as you realize your brace is still rather bulky and could cause quite a noise.

Closing the door behind you, you repeat this process with Ren, and Nora. This proves to have been a bit of a mistake as Nora takes some time to remove, as she clings to your limbs murmuring. After replacing your arm with a pillow (this took more effort than you like to admit) you look at your team...and Ruby. You take Jaune into your arms, which is certainly harder than you imagine; Given his size and weight it was a cumbersome task but you achieve it. Pyrrha is far easier, as once you attempt to pick her up she awakes on her own and excuses herself.

This leaves you with a choice, which of the two sisters do you send to bed first. No matter what it would be difficult, as they were holding each other and waking either of them may make things more difficult than you’d like.

You bend over and cradle the red reaper in your arms, trying to ignore the quiet murmurs as she nuzzles closer into your chest as you walk. She’s surprisingly light as you crack open the door open. You swear for a moment you see Blake stir but you pass it off as a trick of the light as you carry the girl to her bed. She’s awfully fighty as you set her down, still clinging to your chest and murmuring.

Your heart hurts at the sight as you finally tuck her into bed, watching her murmur weakly into a pillow before stilling.

All that was left to do was get Yang.

Stepping out into the hall you see the still-asleep form of Yang, you go to pick her up and can’t help but feel a tightness in your chest. You’re still afraid, after the last three days. The good, the bad, the ugly.

You were still partners, and for the next four years you were bound; For good or for bad.

As you open the door to the room, you feel her slightly stir and decide:

>A. You have to hurry, place her in your bed and hide.
>B. No real way to escape this, just set her in her bed.

Well, you may as well accept the state you’re in and slowly lift the blonde bomber up to her bunk and do your best to set her comfortably with bed. As you go to move your hands back to your sides you find yourself incapable of retrieving your arms. Getting up on your toes you can see exactly why.

Yang had pinned your arm in her grip, still happily asleep.

You continue to slowly attempt to get yourself free but every attempt is either futile or only makes your predicament that much worse. You think for a moment to simply detach your arm from yourself but given the scare you had given the girl you vote against this action. So now you are stood trapped, with two simple choices.

>A. Just accept the fate, stand there all night

You are startled awake not by your alarm but a gentle tap at the center of your back. You leap, or at least attempt to as your arm refuses to bend to make it possible. The result leads you into wincing as your knees buckle, dangling from the top bunk. After getting your footing you look behind you to see Pyrrha, a sheepish smile on her face. You remember that you had promised the girl to go running the day before.

Getting back to your feet you look to see exactly what it was that had trapped you in the position.

Yang had somehow in the night managed to bundle herself into her blanket, your arm buried beneath her. In your attempt to pull free she had only gripped at you tighter, murmuring incoherently beneath her breath. Pyrrha seems to be highly amused by your predicament and points to the bathroom before walking away.

Well...this was a predicament.

Turn the outer layer of your arm into pure tungsten making it almost as frictionless as ice and simply pop your arm out

See: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/friction-coefficients-d_778.html
>>
>>1824035

I'd say yes but you wouldn't be able to transmute it back
>>
>>1824043
That's why it's the outside layer in tungsten. I don't remember the original formula, but it was basically a tungsten composite. Realistically it'd add extra weight probably 2 lbs considering the surface area but it'd be only a couple millimeters thick, tungsten is heavy though. Tungsten itself is also hard so your combat abilities wouldn't go down. The only downfall is an extra 2lbs of weight which would suck running, and on top of the axe would feel a little heavier.

Saying all that, it's just another option that could get his arm out. He can't transmute into a grease because A. multi-chain B. it'd ruin his arm. So this is the best I can do.
>>
>>1824049
We can only transmute things into single elements, no compounds.
>>
>>1824052
Yeah and tungsten is an element an elemental solid atomic number 74. The reason his arm is a tungsten carbide isn't because it's necessarily harder than tungsten, it's to save weight. The trade off here is a really shiny outer coating with lower friction than a carbide allowing him to remove his arm, that coating though will weigh an extra 2lbs. It's worth thinking about at least.
>>
>>1824058
What happens to all the touch sensors Luci and Ruby spent half a night working on?
>>
>>1824058
Or we could just wake Yang up and ask her to let go of our arm, because having slept in that position is already going way out of our way and if she take offense she can fucking deal with it.
>>
>>1824061
It seems to me at least the nerves themselves do that, after all Ruby was working on the nerves themselves rather than the arms.

>>1824062
That was an option given by the QM you can vote for that, this is just an out of the box option only possible due to transmutation and prosthetics
>>
>>1824063
I mean technically you could just wait and ask Pyrrha for some skin moisturizer since it wouldn't set into a metallic arm and use that as lube. Or even soap.

All are technically feasible. It just so happens I went with a weirdly contrived use of using the semblance. I mean realistically the moisturizer is better because there's no real downside.

You look back at Pyrrha and plead with your eyes to the girl. You can’t be stuck in this predicament twice in one week, especially given what she did yesterday. She pauses in her walk to the bathroom and instead approaches you, though if its to mock you or assist you; You aren’t sure.

“Pyr...please.” You whisper, tugging weakly on your trapped limb only to receive more murmurs from the blonde bomber.

“What’s in it for me?” She asks, her voice playful. “After all, one should not wake a sleeping dragon.” She advises, her smile becoming a smirk.
You manage to suppress a whimper as she lets out a soft chuckle and peers up to see the problem.

“Alright, on the count of three you’re gonna want to move your arm, okay?”

You nod.

At the count of three you feel much less pressure on your arm and you pull away. After a tense moment you look down at your now freed limb in something close to joy. Looking at Pyrrha you nod thankfully, to which she replies with a nod and returning to her previously scheduled shower.

Your muscles cry in relief as you sit for the first time in hours, letting your legs go limp as you lay back onto the bed. You contemplate backing out of your run but you had promised to join her, and with Ariadne beneath your bed you do have to take her for a small firing test, and this was the best time.

Perhaps the redhead would take seeing the weapon first as payback for her assistance; You hope so at least.

Hearing the water stop you quickly busy yourself with your scroll in an attempt to be casual. Hearing the bathroom click open you nod to her again, her usual sleeping attire replaced with her workout clothes. You don’t really have something that would count as ‘workout’ clothes but you’d be fine. Quickly disrobing yourself of your rank clothing that smelt of oil and sweat you make sure to shower more thoroughly than usual. As you do, you contemplate how to proceed.

Also could Luci create isotopes of the elements?
Getting a bit technical, every atomic weight on the periodic table is actually an average of all the isotopes in the Universe based on their commonality, there's usually one central isotope which is why it's always a decimal. Elements out in the world are absolute numbers because electrons don't really weigh much so it'd be Hydrogen 1 or Hydrogen 2 not Hydrogen 1.5 (in a very simple example not using proper names).
So technically Luci is creating the most common isotope of gold for example. But, theoretically couldn't he create other isotopes of gold or some other element for various use cases? Whether this is learned or he figures it out doesn't matter.

All I want to know is if Luci could in fact create other isotopes of elements (as long as they are pure elements) in this Quest.

Stepping out of the shower in your new clothes you nod to Pyrrha before you realize the plan you have in mind.

“Hey...Pyrrha.” You start, looking from her to your bed.

“Yes, Lucius?” She asks.

“Do you mind...uh, stepping out for a moment? I’ll meet you out there.” You promise, giving her a small smile.

“Why…?” She asks, clearly confused at your request.

“It’s a surprise.” You answer, well aware of your vagueness.

After an awkward silence and equally uncomfortable staring contest she concedes, stepping out into the hall with one last glance behind her back. The moment she closes the door you get on your knees and pull the folded form of Ariadne from your bed and slip her comfortable onto your back. After a few adjustments to the straps in your jacket she is comfortably stowed away and you open the door to join the girl.

As you meet her gaze she notices the slight hint of the barrel that sticks out behind your hip.

“And...that would be the surprise?” She asks, raising an eyebrow.

You nod and motioned for her to follow you outside “It’ll look better in the morning light.” You insist, and she simply ‘hm’’s at the idea but complies. It amuses you that even though she listens to your advice she has gone behind you specifically to get a glimpse of your new masterpiece.

Stepping out into the light you close your eyes for a moment, taking in the warmth of the sun before turning to Pyrrha and pulling the collapsed Ariadne from your back.

“This, is Ariadne.” You begin, tapping the small button on the receiver and are rewarded with a small click as the stock and receiver fold out and lock, the weapon's barrel extending to its maximum length. “There is no one like her.” You continue, slotting a single one of the massive shells you had made into the weapons still-open breech before pulling back on the charging handle, the bolt slamming forward and locking as you do so.

“And she’s all mine.” You finish, flicking the last switch (Located where the barrel and reciever met) and grip the weapon tight as the bipod flicked up above the sights, twisting and locking into a blade before sliding to the back as you slid the gun forward, gripping it by the barrel and giving it a twirl. Resting the now pommel of the weapon against the ground you give her a grin.

“Well...what do you think?” You ask

She’s stunned before a smile slowly grows onto her face.

“And you made this in one night?” She asks, amazed as she takes a step forward, eyes locked on the weapon that sat in your hands.

You nod.

For a moment you don’t know what to think as she looks from the weapon to you before a competitive fire sparks in her eyes.

“Want to test it?” She asks.

You shake your head before giving her a smile “May the best Huntsman win.” You say, pulling Ariadne from your back and flicking her into her ranged form.

The moment Pyrrha see’s this she draws her shield and smiles. You don’t know what the unspoken signal was but the moment she begins to rush you you squeeze the trigger and with a sudden ‘Crack’ you see the blazing orange tracer streak across the short distance between you. You watch the impact against her shield with fascination, even moreso when you see it halt the girls momentum with the sheer force. It’s clear between the two of you that she won’t let that happen again as you pull the bolt back, clearing the chamber and slamming another round into the chamber. You fire again but this time Pyrrha is ready and rolls beneath the round and is almost on top of you.

You quickly flick the switch and grip the barrel, bringing the Axe down with force only to be stopped by her shield. You slide your hands up the shaft and attempt to swipe her feet out from beneath her but she surprises you by pressing her foot into the pommel and pushing off, sending her back to the center of the circle; A volley of shots ringing from her rifle.

You rush after her airborne frame, hearing the soft pips of bullets striking dirt behind you as you grip Ariadne like a spear, ready to catch her falling form with a stab. However it appears she expected your move and swats the blade aside with her sword before landing, springing towards you with her shield in an attempt to bowl you over. You grunt at the impact, your brace slipping against the dew-slicked glass before managing to get a foothold.

You attempt to bring the haft of your axe behind her head to pin her but she brings her sword between your arms, prying Ariadne from your grip, twisting herself as she does so to bring her shield crashing down against your head. You cross your arms and catch the disk before doing similar to her, claiming the shield as your own. Having done this you use it to block a pair of sword strikes before intercepting a third, sending your palm into her chest and following it with a haymaker; Growling as she just manages to roll beneath the strike and deliver a kick of her own to the back of your leg, buckling you to a knee.

You surprise the champion by flipping backwards and into a handstand, slamming your brace against her sword and forcing it out of her hand. Getting back to your feet you turn to Pyrrha before feeling her hand snap out to strike you in the face. It knocks your head back but you respond by grabbing her extended hand and rolling onto your back and kicking her at the apex of the roll, sending her out of the ring behind you.

You lay there on your back, your chest heaving. Even for such a short conflict it was one hell of a workout and you can’t help but be proud of how well Ariadne had performed. After a few moments you see the mop of red hair that denotes Pyrrha’s person, a wide smile on her face.

“That was incredible.” She says after a moment, plopping down beside you before letting out a long, genuine laugh. Judging by the sound of it her head is right beside your own as you both lay there, flopped out on the grass.

“You’re telling me.” You murmur, smiling “You almost got me there with that last kick.” You admit, tilting your head and getting a faceful of her hair.

She nods “I almost did, but I never expected you to do that flip.” She counters, turning to face you.

You freeze on the spot, just tracing along the deep emerald of her eyes. You had never really noticed them before, given usually your attention was drawn to the deep red of her hair. So it honestly stuns you to see such green orbs; Reminding you of the vast emerald forests you had spent your youth overlooking.

Pyrrha seems to realize that you’ve lost yourself but doesn’t seem to mind.

“What do you see?” She asks softly and the question takes you off guard.

“What do you mean?” You reply, an eyebrow raising.

“My eyes, you look like you’re burning a hole into them with how intense you are looking at them.” She replies.

You aren’t sure how to reply for a moment, as if you’re honest you had not thought of what drew you to them; But at her question you decide to actually think about it. Peering into her dark green eyes you see the obvious curiosity at the answer but also...fear? Why fear? You have nothing against her, and it wasn’t the look of someone afraid of you.

“You’re afraid…not of me, but afraid.” You answer after a few moments and you watch her face contort through a series of emotions: More nerves, tension and then...hope?

“I am afraid.” She admits, breaking the contact for the first time since you had made eye contact. “You see I...I wasn’t entirely honest with you when we first met. After yesterday I realized I should come clean. The reason I know Mars isn’t because of enjoying the competitions.” She pauses, her eyes losing their usual luster.

“I Beat Mars four years ago...and every year after that. I am...was...the Champion of Mistral.” She admits to you and you can see her begining to tense up.

You look at her for a long moment before you raise your brow. What does being a former champion of Mistral have to do with being afraid?

“O….kay? And?” You say, voicing your confusion.

She looks shocked at your response, she’s about to speak up when you push on.

“What does it matter? So you were a champion, why be afraid of that?”

Finally she answers.

“Because i’m not like you, or Jaune or Ren or anyone!” She exclaims, and you can see the wave of emotions breaking as she begins to tremble slightly “Everyone expects me to be the best, to be the ‘Invincible Girl’; To never lose, to never be defeated in the arena!” She adds, the trembles becoming full on shaking.

You honestly don’t know what to think as she bares this to you, seeing as before this moment you had no idea of any of these facts. Would it really be that different if you hadn’t left Icarus and knew who she was prior? Honestly you have no idea, all you know is that there is a very panicked girl in a very vulnerable state and you are more than definitely out of your scope to handle.

So you do the one thing you can think of doing.

You get to your knees as quick as you can and wrap the girl in your arms, and you can’t help but feel for the girl as she continues to shake and ramble into your arms. So you sit there, cradling this ‘Invincible Girl’ as she shows the truth; That she was far from invincible, far from unbreakable.

She was human.

“Pyr...I, I don’t know what it’s like to be invincible.” You admit, and you feel her tremble further so you press on. “But I know what it’s like to be vulnerable; To be weak and flawed and be almost everything but what people expect me to be.” You finish, squeezing the girl gently.

“If there is anyone on Remnant you are safe with, it’s me.” You assure her, and you can feel the dam finally burst as she sobs into your arms. It’s awkward for you to be in this position, as you can no doubt feel the eyes on your back as people look at your jacketed form and the frame of the girl in your arms.

You ignore them, slowly rubbing her back as she slowly regains herself.

“You say everyone expects that of you right?” You ask, to which she weakly nods.

“Well, it’s a good thing i’m not everyone right? Because I’m not just some spectator in the crowd or some beady-eyed fan.” You tell her, before leaning in and whispering to her your head pressed just against hers.

“I’m your friend.”

She looks up at you, her green eyes glistening with tears. You can’t imagine the torrent of emotions but you’re at least saying the right things, you hope.

“You’re more than some ‘Invincible Girl’, you’re my teammate, my CADRE member. You’re you, and no one can beat that.”

The small smile Pyrrha finally gives you after her chest finishes heaving is perhaps the most warm and assuring smile the girl has given anyone in her life. Even with the tears and the sad eyes she looked perhaps the happiest she had ever been in a long time. After a few more moments the girl blushes before wiping her eyes and doing what she can to compose herself. Scooting back she gets to her own seated position before finally speaking up.

“Lucius...thank you.” She says quietly, before standing and retrieving Milo and Akouo in silence. You smile at her, retrieving Ariadne before flicking the dirt clean of her blade. The comfortable silence between you unbroken as you walk beside one another. You had nothing you could really say to the girl that wouldn’t break up what you felt was a good moment. Making your way back to the dorms you give one last look to Pyrrha before you decide to:

Double checking your scroll you dread the time. It’s just past eight which meant both Yang and Jaune were most likely awake, which meant you would have to deal with a number of things:

The fallout of the blonde removing your arms and the resulting fallout
The fact that you had dropped the bombshell about your youth and pointing out that you had LIED to her.
The talk she had already wished to have with you.
The fact that you had tucked her in and fallen asleep standing because you did not wish to bother her. ON TOP OF HAVING ADMITTED TO YOURSELF THAT YOU WOULD HAVE SLEPT WITH HER IF IT WERE ALRIGHT.
Long story short; Things could go great, or horribly, horribly wrong.

As you open the door you wave to Pyrrha who informs you she’ll be grabbing breakfast with Jaune. While on the outside you’re more than happy to let her go on the inside you are filled only with dread. This means you’d be alone with the very person you were dreading to interact with. Your stomach felt like it had been pierced and the acid within it was slowly turning your legs to jelly.

You audibly swallow as you turn the knob and step into the room.

It is entirely empty and for a moment you can’t help but sigh in relief, setting Ariadne down on your before looking over your jacket. Sitting beside your newest weapon you begin to look over the various mechanisms that made up the weapon, she’s a beautiful weapon to be sure and after a complete system overview she’s still ticking like a clock, no gumming, no fouling or jamming.

However you nearly rip the bolt off its mount when you hear the door to the bathroom click open.

“Ohhh that is what i’m talking about! Thank god Jaune went out early, a long hot shower with no one to interrupt me!” You hear the voice of the very thing you dread, the glimpse of a white towel all you need to immediately find the ground the most interesting thing in the room. Your heart is thundering in your chest as you hear her humming and moving around the room, the only other hints being the rustling of the towel.

You can’t help but tense when you hear all the motion stop.

Almost immediately every sense of yours is on alert, as you hear the soft padding of feet along the carpet. You pray to whatever higher powers there are that you haven’t been found, but you already know that she has; You pray instead for a quick and painless death.

You know that also will not be the case.

“Well, well. I didn’t think you the peeping Tom type, Tiger.” You hear, the warmth of her breath dancing along your ear.

You’re almost certain your heart has stopped, but given the fact that your legs have completely melted thanks to the acid and the pain is throbbing in your head you’re almost certain you haven’t.

“Y-Yang, I.” You stammer but your voice catches in your throat when she leans lower down to look you in the eyes, her deep lilac orbs drowning out all rational arguments.

“ ‘Yang, I’ What, Tiger?” She asks, a playful grin plastered on her face.

The dice gods are pushing for the Yang route more because, how many times has Luci spilled spaghetti around Yang-a-Rang compared to P-money?
>>

>>

Fuck no, Yang probably figured out Lucy carried everyone(except Pyrrha) to bed last night, making him prime dad material for her future kids. Its Lucy's fault he makes her so excited when she messes with him. Tiger Yang will be taking him to go.

That's the point though

Eternity of spilling spaghetti with Yang
Or
no more spaghetti with Pyrrha

“I...I.” You continue to stammer, trying to ignore the temptation before you. The death is imminent as you take in the ever so subtle scent of her hair as the stray strands of it splay out against your lap.

And yet you’re rooted to the spot, looking at the face of your executioner.

“ ‘I’ What, Tiger? What’s on your mind?” She purrs, the grin on her face only growing wider, acutely aware of your situation.

“I-I wasn’t peeking! I, uh, well. Spared with Pyrrha because uh I had to test Ariadne!” You say, panicking slightly as you fumble with your hands to present to her your new weapon.

You can’t help but trail your eyes from her fingers to her hand as she runs her fingers along the weapon. It’s almost painfully slow as she inspects the finish beneath her fingertips.

“You know, I wouldn’t have minded you getting me up early, Lucius.” She says, leaning up that by the end she’s all but whispering in your ear.

“I’d be more than happy to help you with your...hardware.” She continues, and you’re almost certain for a moment your brain shut down as...more unsavory parts of your mind took over.

However a split second afterwards your panic brain takes over and your arms jerk, practically throwing the axe into the sky. In your panic you lurch forward in an attempt to catch it as she falls back in surprise. You manage to grab onto the barrel with one hand and seeing the falling girl beneath you, throw the axe towards the opposite wall; Hands coming up to keep yourself from crushing the poor girl.

There is a solid thud as your hands catch you above the girl, jerking you to a halt in a pseudo push up position above her.

“Are you alright?” You look down to check her for injuries when your mind again goes blank.

The towel, in both of your frantic struggles to keep the axe from injuring anyone, has been pulled loose; Leaving the girl bare before you. You can’t even stop yourself as you roam the pale skin of her frame before once again meeting her eyes, both of your faces a deep red.

“Y-Yang.” You mumble

“L-Lucius.” She replies, both of you clearly surprised by the sudden conflict.

Whatever conversation was about to be had was interrupted by the sound of two separate pairs of footsteps thundering to your room.

“Yang you okay in there?!” Comes the obvious voice of Ruby, and the semi-frequent thuds being evident of Khrone’s prosthetic leg.

You look at Yang before looking at the whole room, there is no logical means out, no true way of escape! The only way out of the room was being entered by the very people you wanted to avoi-

You look at the window.
Not ALL the ways out of the room were a bad choice.

You practically throw yourself into roll, heat pumping as the world seems to go into slow motion. You don’t want to leave the girl, and even as you move you can feel yourself looking back to answer the siren’s song. However you force that part of you to the back as you leap for the window.

With the palm of your hand you press the latched windows out, turning your torso to face yourself towards the room. With your free hand you grab the curtain and as you begin to fall out the window pull it with you, covering the open window. Now falling with you falling head first towards you ground you grip the ledge of the window and dangle, with death just inside and redemption just a few feet below.

We have superstrong robotic arms, we should be able to hang there for a week before we start cramping.
>>

Grabbing the ledge with your other hand you continue to dangle there, the muffled sounds of conversation goes on. From what little comes through the curtains you can tell that Yang is clearly embarrassed and Ruby is clearly confused and from the sound of whimpering Khrone is no doubt on the floor. You feel bad but the truth of the matter is; It’s better that he received that punch than you.

You were still doing your best to try and bury the image of the girl and not think about them.

After a few minutes more things seem to quiet down, but before you can debate your best course of action the familiar blonde and Lilac of Yang pokes through the curtains, looking down at you.
