Very worried. It had been 3 days since the Battle of the Bering Strait, which had ended in an overwhelming victory for the human navies. With the strait and the North Sea secured, the northern Dark Zone was essentially cut off from the rest the world, bottling up the Abyssals residing there. Now it was only a matter of time before an assault into the Dark Zone itself was mounted.But... it didn't feel like a win for you at all. Hoel was hurt badly during that battle, and worse yet, she hasn't woken up in these past three days. Akashi and Vita were afraid she's fallen into a coma. You were scared. Scared she'd never wake up.Despite the Admiral and Captain trying to downplay Hoel's condition, the other shipgirls were starting notice. It wasn't as obvious as first, as there were large numbers of casualties and damaged shipgirls in the wake of the battle, so Hoel was lost in the crowd. But now, with most of the damaged shipgirls having been fully repaired or at least well enough to move, Hoel's absence was starting to become much more pronounced. Nobody was openly asking questions yet, but your sharp hearing could pick up the whispers and the radio chatter.Heck, Woel and Paz were definitely sure something was wrong, and it made you so frustrated that you were under orders not to say anything to them. Perhaps that's why the Captain has sent them on an extended recon mission into the Dark Zone. It also didn't help that Hoel was under heavy visitor restrictions. Even you had to jump through a few hoops just to be able to see her for a few minutes. >You should go straight to Hoel. >Vent your frustrations with Portland. She was there, too.>Maybe you can tap into her datalink...>Other

You learned VERY early on that it was best to get your body in a nice comfortable position before you dove deep into the network. The first few times you tried it, you'd wake up with bumps and bruises from falling over or walking into things without even realizing it. >>1765031>FATE POINT GAINED!>You have 1 point!CONNECTION FOUNDPROCESSING....PROCESSING...CONNECTION ESTABLISHEDSuddenly, your eyes are blinded by a flash of light. You're surrounded by lines of endless data and code, streaming and flashing past you like highway traffic. To any normal eyes, all this mass of data would be completely incomprehensible. Random gibberish with no hope of understanding. But you been living in this world long enough that reading code was as easy as breathing. You don't even need your eyes to see the code. You don't actually "see" in this place per se. You absorb your surroundings, reading each and every line. And suddenly it all made sense. When you attempt to hijack and boost Hoel's motor functions, you accidentally triggered some sort of emergency function. Like what happened before when she got drunk, her mind was transferred out of her body and... somewhere else. You frown as you put that particular line of code under greater scrutiny, trying to track where Hoel's mind went. It certainly wasn't in her body, or else she'd have woken up by now. No, it had be somewhere close, somewhere it would be safe...And then it clicks. You shift over to your Rig, still being serviced in the workshop. You read the diagnostic code flowing out of it, and you find it. A small, tiny change upon the trillions and trillions of lines that ran your advanced systems. She was here the entire time! All you had to do was go in and pluck it out. >>1765258And you find yourself standing on the sidelines of a baseball field. Not one of those massive, modern stadiums that could hold hundreds of thousands of people. No, instead you see a simple dirt and grass field, seemingly carved out of an endless cornfield that surrounded the area on all four sides. It seemed... oddly nostalgic, for some reason. Then again, maybe this wasn't so out of character for Hoel. A loud CRACK suddenly jolts you to attention, and your gaze whips over to the home plate, where you see Hoel, dressed up as a baseball player, slamming her bat into a poor baseball. The baseball is flung high into the sky. Higher and higher until the blinding rays of the sun force you to squint. Your optics then reacquire the ball, which falls into the corn beyond the borders of the field. "FUCK YEAH!" Hoel whoops as she tosses her bat and helmet aside and jogs around the field in her home run victory lap. On the bleachers, you can see a number of Fletchers cheering. And it's then that you realize that the "opposing" team is made up of Japanese destroyers as well. Fubuki, standing on the pitcher mound, sighs in defeat as Mutsuki pats her on the shoulder, probably telling her to do her best or something. By this point, Hoel has rounded third base and was making her way to the home plate. That's when you realize that you're standing right next to her path. You briefly lock eyes with Hoel, but doesn't make any effort to slow down. Her eyes just pass over you casually as waves to the cheering crowd.Does... does she not see you?Or does she not remember you...?>Try to grab Hoel's attention.>Stay back for now and continue to observe.>Other

You suppose it was to make yourself fit in to the dreamworld's internal logic?"Ya look really cute in them!" Hoel chuckles. You feel your face grow hot at those words and the sight of Hoel's smile. We'll probably have to delay rolling out those upgrades fleetwide until he can wrap his head around it.""Fleetwide?" You gasp."That's right, considering how much Hoel and Woel's combat effectiveness has risen ever since installation." The Admiral explains. "Of course, the USN will never sign off on the upgrades going fleetwide until they're absolutely sure it's safe for shipgirls.""Ah, I see." You nod. "Well, now that Hoel is awake, I see no reason to restrict her visitation." The Admiral smiles as he stands up. "However, I would appreciate it if you keep that little adventure of yours close the chest, if you know what I mean.""Of course, sir!" You salute."Well, you can carry on, then." The Admiral chuckles as she takes his leave, Sam loyally following him out."I guess I'll be going too." Portland nods with a smile. "Anna, if you still need anything...""I'll give you a call!" You grin. And just like that, it's just you and Hoel. Finally alone together."Heh, so what did I miss?" Hoel asks.>Sit by Hoel's bedside.>Jump into bed with Hoel.>Other

Hoel admits, running her hand through your hair. "I mean, shit, playing baseball and kicking the IJN team's ass every time? Who wouldn't want that?""Hmph." You pout. "Sounds like you were having a good time without me.""Hah, don't worry, Anna, I was never gonna stay." Hoel kisses you on the cheek. "Because you weren't in that dream!">Roll 1d20
