The mind is a fascinating thing, possibly one of the most powerful parts of humans and humanity. Where mindless beasts would simply lumber around thinking only of their base needs, humans have always been interesting. They ponder, they think ahead, they even create not only for the benefit of themselves, but complete strangers. Though, even I know that the creations of human minds aren’t always so… benevolent. Sometimes the very physical world can be affected by the human mind, mind over matter if you will. Sicknesses and side effects cured by placebos, the same side effects and even unimaginable pains caused by a nocebo, strength given to our bodies in times of great need or stress. These are just but a few ways mind can overcome matter, how it can overcome the physical world. Now though, we will find out what someone would do if this mind over matter was taken to an extreme. If they could not only affect themselves, but the people and things around them far more than they have any right too, look at it as… some kind of social experiment. I would like to see what a human would do given these abilities, the how and why are ultimately unimportant. Just keep it interesting and you may be rewarded. Before you can gain these coming abilities we need to know who you are. If you would be so kind as to pick your name, and an origin, or if you really feel up to it, come up with a better origin and I may be inclined to give you something other than what is offered. Though these origins will provide you the benefits they mention at the start they are not exclusive and with enough training could be matched by other origins.

Name: FredrickBackground: PhilosopherSchool is just another place for the weakwilled and gullible all you do is listen. But Fredrick has discovered that it is more important to make up your own mind and for your own opinions about life rather then being brainwashed into thinking 2 Dimensionally
>>1661296>>1661297Your name is Fredrick, and you have long ago left behind the shackles that bound you to the machine for pigs that was the American education system. As soon as you were given the option you dropped out of your town’s, Goodfield, high school. While your family was not exactly thrilled with your decision you were kind enough to placate them, read was forced to or be kicked out to the curb, by working at a gas station a few blocks away. The guy who owned the place was kind enough despite being another cog in the machine, and the place was usually not busy enough to distract you from your readings. So you’d play by their rules for now…A familiar ring was heard as the doorway opened to some customer, you really weren’t paying attention to who it was. You had been told before to greet everyone who enters, customer service and all that trash, but no one seemed to ever care, not even your boss. Though, when your dad found out your skill in the service industry he later lectured you at home about responsibilities and jobs and all that other junk you ignored. Honestly as long as no one found you stealthily looking through some vintage playboy magazine’s you found in your attic as a kid using another magazine as a cover you were probably fine.>Glance at the customer; make sure they aren’t a robber or something>Keep reading; they’ll bother you when they want to buy something>Write in

>>1661358You tear your eyes off a really interesting article, to notice some girl looking through some of the prepackaged salads in the refrigerated section. Why she choose here of all places you will never know. Now that you think about it you remember that brunette from high school. You think you do at least. >>1661385“Can I help you?” you say more as an automatic response than anything else.“Oh! Yeah, do you know if this is vegan?” She holds up some random plastic container of ‘edible’ substance. You honestly that could be defined as a salad, much less vegan.“Yeah sure, whatever.” She is less than convinced. “Are you sure, I really need to know before I eat it.”“Yes, it’s definitely vegan.” You simply go back to reading your articles.“You’re not even looking at it!” She accuses you, fairly accurately. Honestly if you were less patient you would slap the damn thing out of her hand to get her to just leave already. Just as you finish that thought you hear a her let out a squeal of surprise the sound of plastic against clean floor. Looking up you see a shocked brunette with one less plastic container. As well as a mess you’ll probably have to clean off the floor, great…“Really?”“But… I, it felt like.”“You know you gotta pay for that.”“But it was like someone… slapped it.” You barely make out the last mumble. Sure she seemed annoying, but she didn’t seem like the kind of bitch to throw perfectly good ‘food’ onto the ground for no reason. You’d chock it up to butter fingers but she really seems shocked about what happened.>”Who slapped it?”>”Sure someone did.”>”Whatever, just get out.”>Write in

The thing couldn’t be worth more than a few dollars. You were honestly probably giving her more trouble than you should. Who cares, she was just another cog in the machine.“I uh, sure…” She looks unsure of what just happened. Honestly you could probably just let her off and it wouldn’t even matter. hey you know what, it was an accident afterall and since it was an accident I can cover for it
>>1661465“Well if it was just an accident I can probably cover it.”“I guess… It was just an accident. Thanks Fred, I owe you one.” She leaves before you can even ask her name. Whelp that was an event, looks like you need to clean up this mess of green paper and other vaguely vegetable like substances off the ground. Closing your gentleman’s magazine you head for the back to find a broom and dustpan, the garbage is probably dry enough to only need a broom. Thankfully she didn’t drop a drink or something, that might have been annoying to clean up. Regardless after quickly tidying up your work space you return to your post. What was she kidding, someone slapping it out of her hand. There was no one here besides her and you. The entire thing was just a complete waste of- Your thoughts are interrupted by the sound of plastic bags hitting the floor. Your eyes shoot up from the counter, there was no one else here right? You walk towards the sound to find that the chip aisle had been knocked down. This wasn’t an accident, it couldn’t have been, not with this many.“Hello? Someone there?”Was some asshole pranking you or something. You know for a fact that their was no way those bags of chips could have fallen off that shelf, at least not enough to form the pile there. But now you would have to pick up all these-The bag moved, there is no mistaking it you saw several of those plastic chip bags move. It was slight at first but you know they twitched a bit. You back up in a panic. What is this? Is there a ghost here? The chip bags begin to rise, no more than an inch off the ground. “No, No!”This was not normal, not at all. “GET AWAY FROM ME!” And with that every chip bag along with almost all the other snack foods on the shelves were tossed away from you. Slowly at first, but the more you focused on it the faster it came to you. Once it reached you foot it stopped dead. Focusing a little harder it began to unsteadily rise into your hand. Grabbing the thing you inspected it closely, no strings, no magnets either. Even if there was you doubt every single item here did. Holding it in your palm you, hesitate to use the word but, levitate the candy. Spinning it, while it takes most your focus, mesmerizes you. How are you doing this?Dropping the candy bar to the ground you look at your hands. What else can you do? Looking away you notice the mess you created. That may be an issue. You need to clean this up, if your boss were to see a mess like this and find out from the tapes you caused it… the tapes! Shit if someone finds out about this you are fucked. You yell back a apology, but you don’t mean it, you are far too excited to mean it. You know for a fact that this power was real. While you didn’t leave your workstation you did subtly play with your powers while working. You would gently turn pages with your mind, repeatedly. Every time you skimmed the pages of your playboy you could barely read the articles you were so giddy. It was more to keep confirming you had powers, as well as the pinching to make sure you were actually awake. But you had powers, you could control things with your mind… you can barely scratch the surface of the potential for this power. Though to be fair you really don’t know its limits yet. Though you are only able to build 1 section at a time, probably for the best because that how it was designed to be built in the first place, you found that you could put them together with relative ease.
