Thread 12

You are the Courier. You are the self styled "Executor" of your newly created Pheonix Commonwealth of America, which pledges to not merely to replicate the Old World, but to craft out of its ashes something new of which you can be proud of. Toward that goal you faced enemies, even as other foes amass strength beyond the horizon, but as ever you ride upon the march of science and progress to see your goals fullfilled. You fended off yet another Rogue AI rebellion, uplifted your followers of the Apocalypse into true scientists, brought forth the basic human right of education to your people and military, and even delved into the secrets of alien technology from beyond the stars.

But most proud of all achievements, is the final and true establishment of your settlement. "New Washington". Unlike The BoxCars, which was a glorified shanty of tents and steel homes, New Washington is a proper town built of organized streets, concrete homes, sewage, plumbing, even electricity harvested of Big Moutain itself. Its fields and lawns are green with soft grass and the saplings of trees that will grow alongside your blossoming nation, as you overlook your town from the presidential palace in the center of town, surrounded by your female companions who have all made you a father six times over. 3 girls and 2 boys, one of which is already almost 2 years old now, while the rest were born of the same month not too long ago.

But now, with a fully repaired alien scoutship and the key to dissecting and understanding more alien technology, you ever expand your reach in a bid to match the size and ferocity of your nearest neighbors.
>>
Finishing up the town so quickly as well as the proceeding celebrations plus the alien research has really really put huge strains on your supplies. Thankfully, they are replenishing.

The new lawns while very popular are cutting into your water supply. The Brain recommends finding ways to tap into nearby water sources passively, either perhaps Newberry Springs or the underground Mojave River.

Qm what does brain think we still need to do to make research a 5th action as opposed to a replacement action?
>>
People are moving from the Boxcars to New Washington. The Old Boxcars settlement would be a good source of Scrap Metal.

However it still has some vital elements not yet replaced in New Washington, such as washing machines. You can either build another public washing station, or, as some suggest, build washing machines for everyone.

Some of the people say the Super Mutants should remain segregated and in "their own place". Marcus requests fair and equal treatment, and the construction of at least an apartment for mutants.

Correction, it was 2 girls and 3 boys.

Of all the tasks you find challenging, difficult, or complex Child rearing is definitely up there. Even with the help of Rusty, Muggy, and an experienced mother like Unity dealing with 5 women and 5 infants plus your own little daughter fills hours and sometimes days.

Changing Diapers, bottlefeeding, holding and soothing, and of course the questions that come with inexperience at being a mother. Unity is once more a godsend in that regard. But you have to requisition an entire Mr. Orderly to yourself.

You learn of the names given by the mothers of your children to your offspring.

Veronica gives you a little girl with her dark hair named Christine. She really loves her daughter, is a bit nervous about being a mother, but otherwise up to the challenge. She swears she won't make the same mistake as her own parents.

Wendy Gilbert isn't sure what to name her boy, but is deeply caring for him. She isn't sure of a name though, but is a bit more at ease. Having a home with food, robot servants, and a father that provides is what any mother from the NCR can appreciate and she's happy to fulfill that role.

Sonia seems a bit aloof to being a mother. You worry that she doesn't care for the boy, but talking to her, you learn she's hiding her own fears under a veil of apathy. She never planned nor intended to be a mother at all, especially to be the role model for one. She deals in weapons, is a mercenary does some chems and, well, frankly, isn't exactly strict when it comes to bed partners. Your son by her, with your eyes but her white hair, doesn't have a name yet.

Vanessa is also a little depressed, worrying about whether she'll make a good role model for a son, she herself didn't exactly have the best of childhoods. She wonders if he'll inherit any of her own traits like her weak heart.

Dandan is at a point where she's not sure where to go with her life. She loves her daughter deeply, at the same time she's always been a Crimson Dragoon. Apparently that job was meant "till the death", and she's also concerned about who will lead her stealth team without her if she stays at home with her daughter. If she even should. Her daughter has your hair, but her eyes. She wants to know if you have a name in mind, being her father.

You do your best to reassure your "concubines" (which is what people have begun calling them). You have some children to name yet. It occurs to you you may want to be here a while.

Also you should probably name your children soon.
>>
>>1614188
i imagine vanessa and Cass would get along with their bum hearts, and excessive lifestyles.

Which reminds me, Why do Cass and Marcus never talk? Marcus and Cass's dad killed the enclave together.
>>
>>1614188

>>
>>1614220
Probably because you helped Marcus cure the nightkins schizophrenia (mostly) and gave Cass peace of mind by vindicating her caravan. That and Cass stays drunk most of the time with the rest of your female companions.

If you mean to each other? Remember that her father left her when she was very young so she doesn't have much attachment to him.

Your own knowledge of the mythical "Chosen One" is a bit spotty, you only have the NCR legends and Marcus tidbits to go by.

Can you elaborate on this? Does he mean uplifting lobotomites by putting AI into them?
>>
>>1615335
There is a weird research station in game that lets you combine things. If you put a lobotomite and a brain Think/tank together it makes a superior Brain robot, but it self destructs shortly after.

The research is to find a way to stop that self destruct, and use it to make a better robot to aid in researching.

Thats my interpretation as far as I know.
>>
>>1615323
Ill support this. I don't know if we should delegate absolutely everything to him, but he has proved his competence. I doubt well find another one like him, but if we find someone similarly skilled I think we should build an advisory board / council of them.
>>
>>1615335
I was wrong, Its a combination of a lobotomite, and a MR Orderly.

We can also make friendly robo dogs, but only one at a time that cant leave the facility which may be able to be solved with more research.

You move the public washing machines and the tent that hangs over it to New Washington.

Most people wash their clothes sparingly, also you have to ration the water supply, but it is seen as a nice luxury.

You hear little conversations saying how wonderful it'd be if we were near the Colorado and had unlimited water. Or if we had Mr. Gutsy's to do all the washing for us (it takes time to wait in line!)

It seems true, as House said, people will always want more. But you suppose, that's exactly why you are here

Using the new Alien technology, different prototypes of advanced research assistant robots are built and tested.

The most successful of these was designed partly by Arcade and Gabriel with the help of ED-E.

This Eyebot variant is equipped with a scanning device and enhanced optics, and while it does have a singular arm, its main armament is based off the abduction ray of your own spaceship. The grabber ray can pick up and manipulate objects at short range. Thus, it can screw in bolts, reach parts, stir beakers, or press buttons that would be difficult to do with crude robot arms, all with the utmost finesse!

+60 of these are built after scrapping some of the Boxcars, with the help of the existing robot infrastructure.

The Brain still requests more investment in alien tools, we're very close.

2-3 eyebots can lift a man over long-medium distances. 5 can lift a power armored man. 10 can lift a small car or boulder.

Factoring in both:
-The Scrap Steel to convert via Sierra Madre Machines into Alien Metal + Alien Electronics "parts"
-The Scrap Steel to convert via Chinese War Factory into Normal Electronics

30 such robots creates a noticeable decrease in your material resources.

Heights are scary. You got up to 10 miles before you decided to go back down when the outer window began to frost a little. Apparently from the altitudometer thing thats not anywhere near its potential ceiling limit, if it has any.
>>
>>1616816
Possibly, though bear in mind, the entire Pacific ocean is radioactive and rumors are that the Atlantic is radioactive too.
>>
>>1617095
The plan isn't to use it in the oceans.

It's for the salt lakes at Trona. Since it's easier to reprocess the seaweed into Salient green than to purify that much water.
>>
>>1617103
At that point you might as well research mutant plants to extract the water from the somewhat toxic lake itself.
>>
>>1617106
True, especially since we could use a few improvements to our more traditional crops to make them more water efficient.
>>
>>1617114
If we grow plants that take salt water and store fresh water like a cactus, then we would have water for people to work in Trona.
>>
>>1617125
True but such natural processing is energy intensive. The plants would be slow growing thanks to how much energy they would be dedicating to removing the salt.

A better plan is a solar evaporator and thermal condenser / engine for power where we collect the evaporated water for drinking afterwards. However we would have to clean the salt out regularly to prevent it getting damaged and it probably wouldn't be that productive. Still, it'd make power, salt and water.
>>
>>1617140
I don't think it'd make power. the pressure from the evaporating water, if its from the sun heating the water, won't be enough to turn a turbine with any appreciable velocity.

The condenser would probably be water cooled, so we'd need a pump to keep the water flowing through the pipes the vapor runs past, for cooling. We might also want pumps for the vapor to increase the pressure and make it liquid sooner.

The alien Energy Cell and the Alien Power Module are essentially extremely high capacity batteries. The devices are made of a special alloy that generates an internal field which holds the power inside itself using a tiny amount of what is stored in a synthetic type of gas you are able to manufacture from the Sierra Madre machines.

They have the most interesting ability to convert electricity into the various alien energy weapon types, disintegration beam, firelance, alien blaster and perhaps even others such as the Heat Ray and the Abducto beam.

Unlike Microfusion Cells or the Alpha Breeder they do not generate energy, simply store it. The Followers create the standard sizes, a medium sized one, and a prototype of a very large and heavy one. One that can electrically power a vehicle or a small building for weeks!

There will surely be huge applications to this.
>>

>Did we get an upgrade after we defeated the berserkers or do we need to research more.
Research it more.

"Universally upgrading the MK2's to the MKV software (after we are sure this time to properly reprogram it) is a good place to start.

Even as now the MK2's are powerful, a few well placed hits can vaporize a man at point blank. The MKV's will be unto an army in their own right.

Definitely however, what we seriously lack is the capability to produce more of even our basic securitrons. I would propose gathering resources to build a proper Robot Factory. We should start with the ability to maintain a robotic force, then we can diversify more readily from there."
>>
Here's what I am on about:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_desalination

Please examine the section titled "Towered desalination plant built in Pakistan" for an example of how efficient we could make one. Admittedly we would require some glass for it. Also refer to the section directly below it.

An additional method that can work with the above as well:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Applications_of_the_Stirling_engine
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_osmosis

In theory the heat energy of the solar desalination's waste "brine water" and such could be used to power / energise Stirling engines. Thus allowing us to use them in turn for the use of reverse osmosis units, as described in the applications section under "desalination".

Both of these methods will work on any form of water. So long as the contaminants don't evaporate at similar temperatures to water but even if they do some modifications can be made to resolve it.

>>1617197
True but the aforementioned Stirling engines can also be used to generate power.

Also depending on how you do it, you don't need a large water cooling system: if you have a high enough thermal transfer rate material you can attach a large thermal radiator to remove the heat passively. Alternatively we make it out of that one material from Big mt, the one that easily holds vast heat for long periods without melting.

Still the power is a lesser benefit seeing as we could just throw a few solar panels onto the roofs of the people's houses. Also we could place mirrors around the tower to reflect more heat towards the tower.

Anyhow we have fallout tech and shit: if they can have fusion engines in every car, they should be able to do a tower like this fairly easily.

>>1617216
I suppose we could build the vertical desalinator, but yeah. Lots of glass. We probably also want to test Trona's water to see if its just salt or if there is anything funky in the water.

We could build a traditional Multi stage flash distillation plant. That's just pipes and tanks, and a boiler.
>>
>>1617234
True but if there are things in the water besides salt, it'll extract most of them too. Hell we might even be able to process the extract for something more useful than sea salt.

True on the glass front but we want to have glass anyway so this is just another reason for getting it and we could build a more traditional plant but the great thing about this is we don't put energy in: we just let the sun do it for us. Meaning we don't need to burn fuel or power it once we've set it up.

>Millitary - more wasteland training
Kreger attempts to expand the operational limits of his soldiers, namely, seeing how far they can go and where they can go.

And he learns the same old lesson of every general in the West Coast of the Commonwealth for the last 200 years. The same knowledge that dictates warfare for everyone from the NCR to the Legion.

Desert warfare sucks. It sucks huge amounts of ass.

Here more so because you are literally in a true desert, Death Valley the hottest and driest of them all in the Commonwealth, where sand dunes and dust devils travel the scorched and blasted landscape and the rain never comes.

A man can only march as much water as he can reasonably carry. Even with several weighty containers, this isn't very far. Heat from the sun both in the sky and reflected off every stone on the ground, the sheer difficulty taken with every step on the soft sand, a man can go through his canteen quickly. Both the Legion and the NCR themselves are ultimately dictated by water. The Legion stays along its rivers and springs, and fosters the respect of the caravans. The NCR is little better, as far as you remember from last you were in the mojave. While the Mojave itself has fresh water, in places where it does not or on the way here the soldiers must stay by their trucks or trains loaded with barrels of drinking water.

The only people who have really figured out long range desert warfare where the Enclave and the Brotherhood. Both had, and used, Vertibirds extensively. Their true powered armor meant soldiers did not expend much energy with each step or carrying their weight, and they had internal ventilation, and heavier capacity to carry water. The most advanced armors even filtered piss into drinking water. This was how the Brotherhood devastated the NCR early on in their war, before they were overwhelmed by the NCR's size and mass.

For now your own troops are under the age old limitations of the canteen, the APC, and what cactus they can find. The desert and the sun are forces you must respect, for now.

The good news is, while it limits you, it also limits everyone else. If the Legion or the NCR come here, they're going to need water just as much as you.
>>
>>1617278
Which is where bot army comes extremely useful. No water required. Excellent
>>
>>1617286
Not to mention they can carry additional water if we really need it.

This also makes me want to build still-suits for our troops but we can get by without them.

"Seems to be so. If you want men to march alongside your robots, we could use robots to carry water.

The securitrons are pretty strong. One can carry a man on its back without difficulty, great for rescuing men who've gone and passed out of heat stroke or broke a leg.

We might do with some purpose set carrying bots, otherwise we'll have to rely on brahmin."

I figured that's what we would do. Take it apart, scan it and slowly put it back together. Hence the 'scanning' part.

Take it apart / scan pieces, make pieces assembly line build more?
>>
>>1617360
Oh, well i was just thinking silly then.
Also are we making more vertibirds? Cause i think we should instead make more alien scout ships.
>>
>>1617357
Problem is we won't be getting air superiority with vertibirds.
If the NCR has fighters, then air transports like vertibirds would be essentially sitting ducks.
>>
>>1617364
When we get a boon, maybe we could rip the scout ships apart.

>>1617370
Why would the NCR have fighters when they don't fight anybody who has air craft?
>>
>>1617377
Prep for if they face someone who does?
THey stole the original vertibird plans from the enclave, and warred with the brotherhood.
They won't assume that they are the only modern technology power in all of America. It would be good to have fighters if they come across someone else with fighters.
>>
>>1617377
We have already studied the scout ship though, it's flight system at least.
What we need to make more is to study the alien hangar
>>

Yes, but they would't think they would have fighters. All you ever see is combat veritbids. If anything they might have jet transports

your post here >>1617364

>>
>>1617408
Hangar has a auto assembly/ repair routine. Assuming we can backwards engineer it we can learn to make new ones
>>
>>1617408
We know how to make alien metal, alien flight systems and the alien battery, i assume with that we can make a saucer, it's wouldn't be as good as the original since we haven't studied the alien hangar or scout ship weapons.

We could go hybrid alien human technology like the F-302

I'd point out I want to have all of our shit look a bit like the new science drone's given image: >>1615732. As it looks advanced and fluid / has curves without looking flimsy or too distant from more traditional technology. Plus it is a nice change from Fallout's 50's tech and although I can see why we would want to have our designs be like your images, it just seems a bit too on the nose to our sources / inspiration.

Also, I had some ideas for the prior mentioned new bot design. As their capabilities seem ideal for a few roles I had imagined with minimal modifications:

1) Washing clothes as a few of them can lift a full grown man and they are precise.

2) Cleaning windows / dusting (their manipulator ray should be able to remove all dust and shit with ease).

3) Assembly of machines / construction, again thanks to their precise manipulators and ability to work together to lift things.

4) Delivering (internal holotape based)-mail and packages.

5) Potentially surgery, seeing as they can manipulate objects precisely. However we have autodocs so such a robot is not needed.

6) Farming.
>>
>>1617626
yeah we could probably put them to work in a lot of things.
Including security- Brain probably links to their cameras, and give them a stun gun, and we would have drone police, smaller and more maneuverable than the securitrons.
>>
>>1617650
I would argue we should look into the tech in the "Compliance Regulator". As the fact that it can stun on crits would imply we could make a laser stunning weapon.

Better than a taser: longer range, faster firing, more accurate, more shots before reloading and only requires energy.
>>
>>1617654
Should probably make it less lethal, but yes. It is a credible avenue of research.

>One that can electrically power a vehicle or a small building for weeks!

So let me get this straight. If we put it into, let's say, Riddick's car, it should be able to run without stopping for more than a week? If we assume that in a day it will cost 2000km (80km/h), it should have fuel range for over 14000km on a single charge!

If I am correct, we should forget about conventional fuel and convert all of our vehicles to use it.

Do we need additional research or can we start converting them?

Still, so it doesn't look completely barren you offer people the chance to build drought resistant gardens using pretty desert flowers. Well, most people are too busy gardening the farms to care much for their gardens, but a few people do.

It strikes you that not only may you consider providing more luxuries, but you could reduce the amount of hard work your people have to do. There's barely enough time for school anyway.

Okay, so the Brain has been doing some analysis and has come to a conclusion.

To get a true extra research action, we'll need to have an entire community of scientists. Probably with its own university and a bunch of interconnecting labs.

Until then however, he can offer an alternative. We can build special purpose labs for the Followers based on certain research we deem important. Whatever research we do on that particular subject, be it a Weapons Design lab, a Neurology Lab, a Logistics Research facility, or a Robotics Laboratory, the research action for that will be in addition to your 4 actions, rather than as a replacement.

Then later in the future we will either have enough different labs for most research and achieve the same effect, or we build that university and train a lot of scientists to turn the research into an extra action.

The MKV Hazard Bots take some steel from the defunct BoxCars and begin modifying their own bodies to accept digital radio signals, and enter the Divide.

You now have a direct line of sight to this place.

The first few efforts consists of scouting out the terrain. In addition to the Divide you walked, there are other parts of the ruined city and small outlier towns, not related to your quest to meet Ulysses.

Three factions dominate the Divide, in hot contention with each other.

The Marked Men. Pain and hatred drive them to be hostile toward all, yet few if any of them are feral. They have constructed forts and bases, built an army and amassed weapons. Because of their proximity to Old World military bases as well as construction firms, they have access to Rocket Launchers and Arc Throwers which they use to deadly efficiency against the military robots here. And against your own too.

It isn't that far off from what they did before. Back when you were still a Courier, you delivered packages here and, truth be told, this was a blossoming settlement comparable to your own. The people here might have been annexed by the NCR and a target of the Legion but for good reason, they were smart, well armed, and well supplied. So are they now as Marked Men, and some Marked Women.

The next faction is the Old World Military. Or rather, the Robots of the Old World Military. The Automated defenses here are still strong, just as you yourself had to fight your way through bots and more to make your way past here. In the narrow cramped corridors and concrete and steel secured bunkers they are a deadly and effective defense against Chinese incursion.

The last and perhaps more insidious faction here is the Tunnelers. Real tunnelers. You aren't sure at all where, or if, they have a nest or if they do not simply roam and eat everything in sight. Radroaches, radscorpions, mole rats. In groups they even hunt down Death Claws. Defending against them is hard enough, but how do you fight an enemy that digs through the earth itself? The only real defense against them is solid concrete and steel walls of the Bunker, because they can only dig through earth and stone.

>con't
>>
>>1618258
For your bulky Securitrons, its a terrible place. The redeeming qualities are at least that the MKV is armored to hell and back and has weapons, but in between corridors, corners, debris, and a nigh unlimited amount of places for tunnelers or marked men to ambush taking this place could be very painful if done in a conventional manner.

But ultimately winnable. Marked Men can't make more of themselves, but you can. Tunnelers will be a different type of threat, but you have the science facilities to figure out a means to beat them. And now you have the robotics knowledge to maneuver the old Silo's. Maybe even, perhaps, re-open the closed missiles you deactivated.

For now though, while you can cause damage with 30MKV's they will most likely be overwhelmed if you tried an all out assault. You'll need to figure out where and how to set up a beachhead into the place.

Your Brain and Scientists come up with a design for a Robotics Laboratory, based partly on alien technology and on BigMT's and Dr. 0's extensive robotics research. And with a tiny amount of Dr. Mobius theoretical concepts as well.

The Good news is both the MagnetoHydraulics complex OR the Securitron Deconstruction Plant have harvestable parts for this, and either could be upgraded into the laboratory itself. Decide on which building to upgrade with additional constructions, the other will be scrapped/defunct.

It will still need more hexcrete and steel than you currently possess however.

To note, the difference is that the Magneto Hydraulics Plant will have to be dug out deeper, and so require more Hexcrete for the walls, but is ostensibly safer.

The Securitron Deconstruction plant has plenty of room and will require less Hexcrete to build.

NEWS!
Sam's 2nd Birthday is soon.
You haven't heard much from Mr. New Vegas in a while. The station appears to be dead or non-transmitting.
You hear very faint but ultimately blurred radio from the NCR.
Planes are still in the sky, occasionally.
>>
>>1618328
Yes. Both are being used for robotics research, but consolidation is a good idea.

The Magneto Hydraulics plant also serves as your 2nd Water Source and is where you are piping water from BigMT's acquifer from. The other source is the spring near the BoxCars/New Washington.
>>
>>1618331
Then i would suggest we use the Securitron deconstruction plant

Surprisingly, making VR simulation for those with a Brain is that much more complicated than those without one.

Two designs are created.

The Pod-Version.

Because the brain is still attached to the body, a very delicate balance of sedation must be achieved so as to not completely knock someone unconscious but enough to keep them from moving, all while autonomic bodily functions must be maintained by the person itself, rather than the machine.

In addition, since data cannot be directly uploaded into the brain itself, an additional means of transmission of VR Data and reception of output are required. These require specialized and expensive to maintain direct-to-skull wireless neurotranmission devices which must be powered by complex super computers.

The Room Version.

This one requires less delicate life support systems as the person is walking and waking. It can incorporate real world implements, as well as hologram interaction.

The limitations are that the person's body is confined within the size of the room and any solid objects within it. There are some workarounds to this. For example, a multiple room simulation was tested. A person can walk up to a door, and then signal they wish to open it. Then they walk to the other side of the room in real space. They experience a transition into the next room.

The benefits are that its not so possibly taxing on the human body and circadian rythym, and can allow multiple people to interact with it at a time with less time and energy consumption, although the system itself in totality is a bit more energy intensive than the VR pods setup. I.e. you may be able to put more people in it, but it still costs more energy.

Two designs are created in blueprint, ready to be built each.

The Omni-Agronator was made with Boon Parts. You don't have those readily available, but, using some of the Scrap Steel you harvested from the BoxCars, you craft several Mr. Howdy's as farmhands.

They provide much help to your citizens, and you're able to provide extra hours off from their mandatory agricultural service.

Currently everyone is (somewhat forced by both necessity and your own rule) to work the farms, the exception being a Soldier, a scientist, doctor or a designated /other/ service such as a shop keeper (such as the hoarders and wealthier elements of your society), a maid/escort/prostitute or other form of public service such as clothes washer or etc.

You don't allow Vagrancy. Except for some of your Companions who are technically mercenaries and a few cripples and elderly.

The 30 MKV Securitrons from the Divide pick up another big massive piece of debris and start hauling. They will arrive to BigMT next turn.

>Have a birthday party for sam? Invite our closest friends and family
It is fortunate for you that you seem to have chosen 'Founding Day' in the same month as the day you concieved Sam.

All your children have similar birthdays (I still don't have names for all of them, by now they would be named but if you guys didn't name them I guess their mothers would have)

Even considering its a private affair of just your most intimate "friends" and family, it is a large gathering you have at your house. Most of your companions are invited. Your parents in law are invited too. It isn't any wonder that 50 people attend.

Sam blows out her two candles, while the rest of the mothers blow out the one for their own children.

Sam is beaming and smiling. The happy little girl in her tiny dress is friendly. You know had this been but a year ago, her appearance may have sent the whole congregation scattering for the hills.

Of all your concubines, Unity has a boundless appetite for conversation and doesn't seem to tire so much as the rest of your companions who already deal with the prospect of being mothers. Some of your other sons and daughters have already taken their first step or babbled their first words. You weren't able to be there for all of it.

You are sort of struck by how. . .quickly time passes now. Even though you have a vast life expectancy, it hits you that as you are busy leading science projects, going into military forays, and off on long missions, time is slipping through your hands. All the more your attention is limited as you have to divided it among 7 women an 7 children.

Still at least you do get to be at home for lengths at a time. Not as much as you'd like perhaps, but you haven't abandoned them entirely.

Glass mill allows us to build solar salt water distillation towers at Trona. Allowing us to have a human presence in the region and to also make use of the salt lakes there cheaply and easily.

It also allows us to give all the homes in New Washington actual windows rather than steel shutters and blinds.

Anyhow we'd only want additional radio range if we planned on expanding or exploiting the resources further in that direction. Which as far as I am aware is a region occupied by the NCR or at least will be soon, assuming there is anything there.

If however OP states this to be otherwise, I will accept your point and alter my plan.
>>

Or you know, we could just make solar farms.

>>1618722
>Anyhow we'd only want additional radio range if we planned on expanding or exploiting the resources further in that direction. Which as far as I am aware is a region occupied by the NCR or at least will be soon, assuming there is anything there.
There's a bunch of scrap metal there, like tons.
I plan to turn the town into an industry and power center by making a bunch of solar farms and robot/vehicle/aircraft factories.
>>
>>1618674
Dont we have 6 women and 6 children?
>>
>>1618728
Here's the description.
>To the Northwest is some mixed news. There is an abdoned medium sized town called Trona, built around an old world mining complex, and has not yet been colonized by the NCR.
>The Town is named after the mineral that is found in abundance there, "Trona," which can be used to make glass, soda, and laundry detergent. It also has some other things like Potash which can be an alternative ingredient for gunpowder. It is however, a dry and desolate place, the ground is very salty and nothing grows here and its very hot during the day. There is a nearby extremely salty lake. There are no stable sources of water. It also has a lot of scrap metal and some mining equipment but it will take time to scavenge these due to the distances.
>>
>>1618728
>There's a bunch of scrap metal there, like tons.
Okay then we can send human salvaging teams and have the robots carry them and their salvage back.

>I plan to turn the town into an industry and power center by making a bunch of solar farms and robot/vehicle/aircraft factories.
Seems pointless compared to keeping everything together, nice and centralised. Not to mention minimising transport costs.
>>
>>1618731
Yeah that's the right description and why I wanted to get the glass production online. As it would allow us to build solar water processing and thus colonise the area with humans.

We can then build a radio tower far easier if we need to or want to.
>>
>>1618732

We have been running out of scrap metal to scavenge around us so we need a new source, the only places where there still is scrap metal is the divide, which has marked men and tunnelers, or trona, which has nothing to attack us unless we let the NCR just walk in and take it.
>>1618735
>We can then build a radio tower far easier if we need to or want to.

This is a map of Hopeville West, the large city located to the west of Hopeville East/Ashton (aka the Courier's Mile). It is much larger than the area through which you met Ulyssess, but no doubt richer in metals and minerals. . .and enemies.

Of course, you could always go to the Courier's Mile to the east. Certainly its rich in metals and steel, and yet you fear doing so may be risky. There are only two entrances into the Courier's Mile, going through Hopeville West and going through the old road leading directly into the Canyon Wreckage at the Mojave, which could expose you to Caesars legion.

Salvage from the Divide again for whatever we can. Avoid taking risks where possible.

Due to distance limitations, the MKV's have JUST returned this very turn with metal from the last run (thanks to your rolling to speed their progress). But you again have to send them out. The Divide is a great distance away. And the only things that can survive in it are robots and Ghouls/Super mutants.

Trona is also a major distance issue. You send a portion of the fresh steel gathered there with the Omni-Constructor as well as your 5 Chinese Supply Trucks. Hopefully they make it.

Stun weapons already exist aplenty. There's of course the Compliance Reguator, the Alien Shock Baton and Human Cattle Prods. For more serious foes, the Arc Welder exists as well although that tends to singe and char flesh.

The Old World military invented a device called a Mesmetron, which has the ability to hypnotize people for limited amounts of time. And turn them into a frenzy. And make their heads explode. The variability in results is difficult to correct due to each human being different.

There was also the idea of a "Dumbification Ray" based off the, evidently false, rumor that Robo-Scorpions drain intelligence (which they do, but only on machines and particularly brain machines). A prototype true dumbificationn ray has been invented, but there's no one to test it on.

There are also weapons based on the Abducto Ray. An Abducto Ray strong enough to bind the Average Man has been invented, and must be carried on a pack. An effort was made to add a shock feature to it, but the results were visually impressive and destructive in nature.

A number of other devices are being invented as well.

The chief con's of both Electrical Weapons and those which work on the brain from a distance are how finnicky the human (or an enemy) body can be. What is paralyzing to one is lethal to another is nothing to someone else. Still both various electrical weapons and the mesmetron can be made.

The addition of body armor and even a simple metal helmet such as the NCR or Legion are wont to wear, can also affect the reliability of either weapon.

Additional capture weapons are devised. One is a two or three man system involving a large tank of hyper reactive foam. You spray it on a man and it quickly expands and solidifies into an extremely solid and sturdy substance immobilizing them. It has been tested against even the mighty Super Mutant to good effect. It isn't very stealthy though and if the target can move out of the way in time to scrape it off their muscle it can be evaded. But its good in conjunction with conventional electric stun weapons.

>con't

>>1619351
>>1619406
Thus far:
-Electro Melee Weapons
-Conventional Electro Gun / Arc Throwers
-Mesmetron
-"Dumb Rays"
-Foam Tanks

One last theoretical weapon is devised, which might have 100% effecacy but presents with an ethical dilemma.

Some old notes from Dr. Mobius theorizes that brains deeped "psychokinetically active" aka "psykers" might have the innate processes combined with integration with a mesmetron weapon to achieve 100% control over a target.

This would require the splicing of a Psyker's Brain into a Robobrain frame.

But as of now, you only know of one Psyker's brain. And its in one Psyker's body.

You assemble with a force of 30 MKV securitrons and 30MK2's, trailing them, with you yourself taking the helm. The geiger counter ticks softly, but warns you of the fierce impending radiation. Luckily you brought your Rad-X and Radaway, and power armor helps.

The great sprawling city lies before you. Wrecked ruins of skyscrapers still reaching for the sky, standing above piles of rubble over cracked street after street. A city comparable to Old Vegas in its size, yet with the deep scars of exploded ICBM's.

Still, you're here to get rid of Burned Men Patrols. And there are so many of them and only some of you. Where would you like to strike?

You make a Glass Mill.

You know, you heard it said that Vault City's GECK was a master data storage module containing information and blueprints to rebuild the world in the event of a nuclear war. Everything from how to mix concrete, to make glass, seeds for plants, small-scale industrial techniques.

You don't have a GECK. But you have the next Best Thing. Dr. Mobius in life loved to hypothesize about a potential nuclear disaster and the loss of information.

As such, he kept a lot of useful holotapes!

Since Miles is busy with the construction of the mill (which is not yet completed (You only made the metal parts, Hexcrete is needed!) and you dont have the materials.

But for good reason some of your other Doctors insist on additional training before even the hospital is begun.

The various BigMT minds are EXPERTS at Medical Operations. Some of them were the best in the whole nation, and almost everyone is familiar with surgical operations.

And they are frankly appalled by what passes for medical knowledge in the wasteland.

"Boiling! Oh yes, that's so much better than Ultrasound Sterilization. Next you'll be telling me you do surgery in your own house."

>Doc Delilah
"Look, it hasn't been exactly easy maintaining the best medical knowledge since the bombs fell and blew up all the hospitals. Some of us have to go with what we learned from medical magazines."

>Doc Doc Orderly
"I'll have none of that stuff. I insist you all go to Medical School!"

The city is big. The city is really big.

The first few days are the typical fun and slaughter you enjoy. You make short work of the first unwary patrols, slicing them, shooting them, burning them, melting them. Whenever the heat gets too hot, you have your team of bodyguards on standby.

Their efforts to adapt at first are a crude. Landmines, grenades, rigged shotgun traps. Easily avoided with your own light step.

But it seems as though the more you kill, the more there are. And there are SO many of them.

Then they start getting clever. Rather than trying to lay traps to trick you, they lay traps for your Robots. It forces you to have to go out of your way to disarm them so your own bots don't get blown up. Then when its clear you are disarming them, they ambush you with heavy weapons. Rocket Launchers, Plasma Casters, Arc Throwers. You survive, but your bots get damaged and have to repair themselves.

Then they start arming their patrols with dead-man switches and chest bombs, denying you of the ability to safely strike them in melee. When its clear you are sniping them from a distance, they attack your bots since they know you aren't with them.

The MKV programming does its best to adapt. Ordering counter artillery barrages on rocket strikes and pre-emptively smashing buildings. But there's another unintended consequence. The noise of explosions and laser fire draws the Tunnelers to strike. In huge waves, they leap and ambush your robots, only being driven off by bright flashes of explosives and yet it provides but a momentary respite. The moment the tunnelers are driven away, the Marked Men regroup and resume attack on your robots, particularly with Plasma Casters.

And then. . there's the storms. When a Divide Dust Storm strikes, you have to huddle to shelter inside. Communications can be sorely limited even with the best digital radio. When you get out something bad has always happened to the bots

You are killing the Marked Men. . but its clear it isn't enough. Your bots are being whittled down by attrition daily, which does not give them the chance to adequately repair. As much as your own Robots collect and repair their wounded, the Marked Men collect and retrieve their own and retreat to their heavily irradiated places where you have to expend huge stocks of your Rad-Away, makng it difficult to pursue, while your robots are thwarted by the heavy defenses there

By the end of the month, the Marked Men haven't just driven you to a standstill, the Divide itself threatens to overhwhelm your bots. You are running out of Stimpaks and Rad-Away, and have to pull back. Unfortunately, you have to leave behind 11MK2's and 5 MKV Hazards. These were incapacitated and then molted by mass lobbing of plasma grenades and firing of plasma rifles and plasma casters, but its a tribute to Mr. House and Dr. 0 on the amount of beating their titanium hulls could take. But even you have had to fight Berzerk Securitrons, and they are not invincible
>>
>>1620735
How many Marked men did we kill?

Have we forced them to abandon / stop patrolling any regions of the Divide?

Did we find anymore pre-war facilities?
>>
>>1620742
>How many Marked men did we kill?
By your estimate, probably 100-200 over a month with includes both Marked Men and Tunnelers. You gather probably 70 Marked Men at least.

>Have we forced them to abandon / stop patrolling any regions of the Divide?
Yes. They no longer patrol the outlying regions, and have retreated to the saftey of their city. Lots of scrap steel to be had!

>Did we find anymore pre-war facilities?
Not during the attack. Or at least, not in the Southwestern Area.
>>
>>1620743
Then the operation was a success, though we experienced some losses we have made the outlying regions safer for salvaging.

We can solve the problem of the tunnellers fighting us when we want to push them further back again. Just need to make a fuck ton of road flares.
>>
>>1620747
We should probably start building robots instead of whittling down our limited numbers
>>
>>1620755
Agreed. We need to stop spending resources on civic stuff when our military is so weak
>>
>>1620755
True and we can do so. Especially with the aluminium and steel we can extract from the Divide.

Still though, there can't be that many Marked men. I mean they happened post-war so they can't have had that dense and thus high of a population thanks to how everything was, not to mention the lack of advanced agriculture. At most we are dealing with tens of thousands of enemies, assuming that all of them are combatants and none have died since the Divide was created.

Still, we can't discount them as a major threat.
>>
>>1620761
Probably not tens. It was a post war city when it blew up. Max is probably 10 thousand. Still a threat though.

I think securitrons are also really going to be hampered going into the city ruins. A wheel cant traverse rubble and ruins and such that easily.
>>
>>1620678
>You
[An Office and a Secretary eh? I think I can see about that]

It'd take a hero or a research action, but you believe an AI is well within your reach. Or somebody's reach here. In the same action you could also do some scavenging for office supplies!
>>
>>1620766
Indeed. Often times they have to walk on their hands like gorrillas, and become reliant on their shoulder missiles. House had to come up with some way to keep them moving if the wheels done work.

I would like to design better robots first.
Though hardy, the secururitrons come with flaws that show how they are policing bots, most capable in open terrain like city streets. Also the cathode tube face right in the center of mass.

Personally i like the MECs from xcom 2.
>>
>>1620901
If I might just interject. The best designs for robots we have thus far are essentially either the floating ones or legged models. If we are looking for mobility over extreme areas. So logically speaking we have three routes of development:

1) Eyebot / alien hover-tech

2) Mr Handy rocket engine

3) LEGS.

For example, we could look into making a robo-scorpion with longer legs. As it would be a highly mobile machine and seemingly we should have the production facilities for them around Big mt if we have not got the capacity already. Problems with this route are that legs are a inherent vulnerability but not any more so than a wheel.

Alternatively we make eyebots: many, many eyebots; command eyebots; fighting eyebots; repair eyebots; artillery eyebots. You get the idea. Only problem with this and the Mr handy method is that they might not support larger platforms which would limit how heavy and large we could make them and thus the armour, weapons, range and such of our eyebot army.

Thats what im going for. Heavy bipedal robots with a big gun and mounted mortar. They are the anvil. Big loud and unyielding.

Then we have eyebots or something similiar. Hovering, quick, mobile, but still hit hard. They come in around the sides and back as the hammer, squeezing the enemy against our front line.
>>
>>1620901
True true, but how about robo scorpions or other fighting bots? Floaters are weaker than walkers.
>>
>>1620921
The exact method of morion doesnt really matter, its more about being able to flank quickly while still hitting hard. And scorpions can take a beating if they have to, so theyre rather multipurposed.

I would suggest that you accept your flanking forces are going to have to make sacrifices for speed and mobility.

I also get the feeling we are treating our robotic forces very differently. Seeing as I want to produce eyebots for every combat role and then work on heavier robots later once we have the resources and time. Plus the fact that I want to make use of wave tactics and the great things about a robot army: total control, no misunderstandings, no friendly fire and such.

My plan being that we have a three stage battle:

1) Swarms of combat eyebots along with any heavier models we produce later and their command units / eyebots move in, eliminate the enemy and carry on to the next encounter.

2) Repair / salvage eyebots move in, repair and salvage the wounded. Continue onto next combat encounter.

3) Mobile industry move in and rebuild more using the salvage and any resources left behind by the enemy.

Potentially there would be an additional 4th stage where we construct defences (automated turrets and artillery) and other infrastructure (power generators and radio towers). Assuming we weren't doing raids and such.

The idea behind this plan being a endless wave of combat droids pushing forwards with their wounded being repaired and their dead replaced by concealed industry and repair bots. Then when the attack loses steam or we wish to redirect efforts elsewhere, a defensive line is constructed and our troops fallback behind it.
>>
>>1620943
I really like your strategy, only issue is that we will have to pause to initiate stage 4 & resupply because of the speed our advance would move on.
>>
>>1620949
We can easily produce a robot which digs a tunnel, lays a concrete shell and attaches a railroad / power and such.

These sorts of machines exist in real life and with fallout tech we can easily make them dig faster. Especially if we have additional smaller digging machines follow as part of stage 3 and start creating the defensive line / supply + railroad tunnels on that end.

As to resupplying, most of the weapons we will be using long term are either energy weapons (alien disintegration tech / holorifles maybe?) or are replicator based (securitron rocket production).

However power and such can be provided by either specialised support units (bio-generator robots that...process the battlefield, nuclear ones and possibly other designs) or the industry bots creating solar arrays and such as they advance.

Anyhow we can produce transport robots and such to move supplies / giant alien batteries to the front line if things get really bad.
>>
>>1620943
Sropping power can be sacrificed for the light infantry bots.

Its a common disagreement between swarms vs stronger individuals. However eyebot in support roles are fine.

I feel swarms in frontline combat roles are too vulnerable to anti-personnel weapons vs humanoid warbots. If the eyebots fall to light machine guns or grenades or frag rockets, and warbots don't then war bots are a better investment.
>>
>>1620957
>Sropping power can be sacrificed for the light infantry bots.
I'd argue you should sacrifice fire rate but so long as we both understand the technical limitations we can find a solution.

>Its a common disagreement between swarms vs stronger individuals. However eyebot in support roles are fine.
Agreed. I can see why we might want stronger bots but the simple fact is we need numbers more than anything, so we can spread our forces effectively.

>I feel swarms in frontline combat roles are too vulnerable to anti-personnel weapons vs humanoid warbots. If the eyebots fall to light machine guns or grenades or frag rockets, and warbots don't then war bots are a better investment.
That is what stages 2 and 3 are for. To repair the damaged and rebuild the destroyed. However I doubt they will fall to guns quite as easily as you think and in the case of explosives, warbots would be just as vulnerable but wouldn't be anywhere near as expendable. Plus the fact that eyebots could probably move away fast enough to avoid most of the damage from explosive weapons if they knew they were coming.

As to them being too vulnerable, unlikely, especially since they are a small target with a metal shell moving at high speeds and shooting at the enemy. Still that is the strength of swarms: losses are unimportant thanks to the sheer volume of the swarm.

It'll demoralise the NCR, that they "kill" thousands everyday and yet the swarm never stops coming. That they fire until their guns are red and melting and their ammo supplies are dry, yet they never stop coming. That they throw the best of the best into the breach every day and lose many good men, yet they never stop coming. That they set up their defensive line against the Divide and think that it will hold them back, yet they never stop coming and even the Divide couldn't stop them. That they never, no matter the weapon or army or place, stop coming.

And that even when they finally, finally manage to get onto the offensive? They hit a concrete wall, lined with guns and filled with them. That they had to pull back and that they started coming again like nothing had ever happened.

The armour for eyebot sized robots would probably peak at heavy human armour strength, before it starts becoming too heavy and too much inertia.. And will likely fall to bullets of decently sized calibre, like .308

Armour on a larger warbot should peak at a stronger level, hopefully at armoured truck, like the mark 5 securitrons. At that point itll be damaged only by .50 cal or poured on energy weapons. Frags would likely not damage warbots as much as eyebots.

The mobile construction yards is a good idea. For setting up repair and production and resource gathering. Maybe a really big vehicle with a built in construction bay. Like the UEF Fatman.

We can make them as good as ED-E. Possibly even better with the science and technology we have access to here.

>Armour on a larger warbot should peak at a stronger level, hopefully at armoured truck, like the mark 5 securitrons. At that point itll be damaged only by .50 cal or poured on energy weapons. Frags would likely not damage warbots as much as eyebots.
True but the fact is you would have far, far fewer warbots.

>The mobile construction yards is a good idea. For setting up repair and production and resource gathering. Maybe a really big vehicle with a built in construction bay. Like the UEF Fatman.
Logically yes. I'd give the example of the mobile command base the Enclave had. However such things will take awhile to produce.

A warbot couldn't cost more resources than 10 eyebots, going by size, so if a warbot can kill 10 times the people as an eyebot, then its more efficient.

As for mobile bases, it could be quite smaller than the enclave one if we cut down on labs, barracks and other extrenuous spaces. If its just a factory, a bridge, resource depots and some defensive guns, we could get away with it being 1-2 stories tall, versus the enclave base's 5-6.
>>
>>1621063
>A warbot couldn't cost more resources than 10 eyebots, going by size, so if a warbot can kill 10 times the people as an eyebot, then its more efficient.
It's not just a matter of killing people. They have to secure the ground, scout out the region and provide covering fire for each other. With our limited resources having the sheer numbers presented by smaller if weaker robots is important.

You don't need the resource depots. Just have the scavenger bots bring all the resources in from the battlefield to a central furnace and a replicator can sort them out, displacing the atoms of each ore through itself if I remember rightly. Still I'd argue we might as well add a few longer range guns onto this thing so it can act as the artillery and air control of our army.
>>
>>1621069
In that case we can split the troops. Have a dedicates peacekeeping force, mainly of eyebots, and a front line force mainly of warbots. I was more thinking about maximising the attack strength of the army.

Yeah, installing a big replicator would be very efficient. Actually, that would cut down size by alot. We could fit multiple replicators and repair bays.
As for adding heavy artillery, that is good. Its Half the job of a fatman anyways.
>>

>>1621079
>In that case we can split the troops. Have a dedicates peacekeeping force, mainly of eyebots, and a front line force mainly of warbots. I was more thinking about maximising the attack strength of the army.
I suppose we will need an anchor for the frontline, a heavier warbot, at least until we can achieve true swarm potential.

>Yeah, installing a big replicator would be very efficient. Actually, that would cut down size by alot. We could fit multiple replicators and repair bays.
Specifically the thing I am talking about is the fact that we can (have?) make replicators take regular materials for their manufacturing process. So all they need is the power to "move" the material into place and to replicate any missing materials, greatly reducing waste but at the cost of increased energy requirements.

>As for adding heavy artillery, that is good. Its Half the job of a fatman anyways.
I'd argue we need dedicated big guns but these will work for now. Seeing as we aren't going to be facing anything too seriously entrenched or armoured.

>Robot legs
Your researchers investigate various forms of Robotic Propulsion.

The main principle of moving a robot is based on the factors of Weight, Power Consumption, Speed, Agility, and Vulnerability.

The known and tested methods include bipedal legs and quadrupeds. Meanwhile robots like the Sentry Bot use heavy triple legs that don't walk but have rollers underneath. Wheeled robots such as the Securitron and of course, Treaded robots like Robobrains. Not to mention Hovering ability such as the Mr. Gutsy and Alien Drones. An additional theoretical design for "tentacles" is also made, which promises redundabiltiy and the ability to climb walls and fit into tight spaces.

Each one has its pro's and con's, and is also tied to the weight and size of the robot itself.

Treads - The sturdiest, especially if given tread skirts, but also the heaviest and one of the more energy consuming particularly if moderate speed is the goal. Can only go where treads can go. It also has a larger profile. They can also hold the most weight.
Hover - The most energy consuming, but perhaps the most agile. While certain designs like Mr. Gutsy offer decreased weight and faster speeds and some flight capaility, they of course are lowly armored and expos the hover mechanism if not behind force of arms. Meanwhile, the alien hover drone has heavy armored skirts to protect their hovering mechanisms and cannot be directly shot at, and are much sturdier, but also slower and hover on the ground primarily. Others such as the eyebot move at speeds comparable to cars, but only offer light armor.
Legs - of all kinds. From Human, to horse, to much more. Here the various factors are most diverse. Depending on the type of expectations you want from your robots, you can have swift agile hoppers and runners that can leap up over buildings, but the legs are an obvious weakness. Or you can have slow heavily armored stompers, big walkers with armor best defended from the front. Or simply, human legs, which can be comparable to yourself in power armor.
Tentacles - Modeled off the aquatic octopus, a theoretical tentacle design is possible. The idea behind it is to provide mutiple limbs for various functions, weapons, and redundant capabilities. These tentacles can even morph into a variety of implements such as radio antenae, hacker tools, welding, etc. tool capabability allows for them to be used with dexterity, if one leg is shot off the other tendrils can compensate even up to the very last to crawl on the ground, or perform repairs to reattach these.

These options are now available for whatever robot designs you wish.

>Vr room for training meds
In the Old World, it took about 4 Years of College Education and 4-6 more years of Medical Schooling. To become a general MD. Not a specialist or a surgeon.

That isn't very far off from what the Followers practice as a rule of thumb.

Here at BigMT, they're figuring out how to make your doctors experts in less than that (hopefully). Your Brains (natural inhabitants of the human body and quite aware of its function) work with the Auto Docs and Doc Orderly on assembling the necessary know how for a (human doctor).

Even in the Old World there was the understanding that Auto Docs would one day suprass human doctors (and they did) but, according to Doc Orderly "we can do better than using plastic water bottles for chest tubes".

A very extensive medical training VR Room is being jurry rigged where the old VR Room in the X-13 Virtual Reality Room. An interesting set up, it has Plastic Animatronic Persons with a Holographic Overlay. Some of the most advanced Medical Technology of the Old World is brought out for your Doctors to practice. Not just technology, but Theory as well. Learning how to streamline documentation by adding to what the Followers have recovered, and making use of some more advanced medications hitherto unavailable in the wasteland.

This is a very complex project, it's going to take at least one more Construction Action and then a Research Action. By the time its done though, you might very well have the best /human/ doctors in the planet. And a compact medical university in a box!

Actually it's more like, from watching the DLC, she says "bye bitch, call you if they return K? I wanna explore the rest of the ship" and you fuck off. Chances are she won't be a position to stop us even if she knows we are there or even gives a damn.

>and it should have anti fighter weapons.
Should doesn't mean does and even if it did then I doubt they are as long ranged as to hit us in low earth orbit / the upper atmosphere.

Also I had a few ideas for how we could gain additional population or increase our growth rate:

1) The SHI - Post-war Chinese population in control of a east cost city (Los Angeles) and the surrounding area. Numerous and advanced, kinda communists under a hyper-intelligent "immortal emperor" computer. Might be willing to help us / the Chinese but risk the Chinese wanting to go to the SHI.

2) Going around NCR and unaligned settlements recruiting the homeless and the willing. Somewhat difficult but can be done. Loyalty could be questionable but utility is great.

3) Utah - a region not under the control of either the NCR or Legion as of Honest hearts. Filled with war lords, tribals and isolated civilisation. Can easily find recruits of utility but loyalty is variable: might be very loyal thanks to the good life, might not be.

4) CLONING and / or IVF + artificial wombs. Made easier by the Salient green and all of our advanced technology / medicine. Reduces risk and effort involved in pregnancy to near zero for mother.

5) Slavers. Be it buying and freeing or freeing by force.

6) More super-mutants and shit.

Once we get confronted by the NCR, and if they don't just start shooting us, then we can start some radio ads encouraging immigration.
>>
>>1622140
>>1622159
The problem with accepting people from the NCR is there will obviously be NCR spies among the selected, there's also the culture problem.
Personally i prefer taking Legion slaves, we can get a very loyal population by doing that.
>>
>>1622159
Speaking of Radio Adds,

Qm, question for the brain
"Is there a way to spread a computer virus over radio waves? Something like a targeted attack against the NCR radio system to shut down / disrupt communications should the need occur?
>>
>>1622169
Yeah there will be spies. We can mitigate that by being diligent. We have eyes everywhere.

As for culture, Our culture is more similiar to the NCR than legion slaves. Especially slaves raised in captivity, so integration shouldn't be hard.
They're also immigrating to our land, not being conquered so the expectation is to be assimilated.
>>
>>1622169
That can be avoided quite easily.

For one, we do the recruiting and focus on the homeless and poor. People who have suffered under the NCR.

Also even if they managed to get into our towns, the Securitrons and automated defences / detection systems will prevent any sorts of espionage without extreme skill or difficulty.

Might I draw your attention to the section in the brackets? "must be for military reasons" and "NOT research/non-military construction / generic resource scavenging".

This is a military construction. It's turrets and detection arrays and barriers to be raised if the town is under attack. Things which are quite arguably a military thing to the same degree as a permanent wall if not more so seeing as they have actual guns and shit.

I'll let you continue but I hope you can see my reasoning.

See, now if you said something along the lines of digging trenches, erecting sandbags and barbed wire, or makeshift walls that would be fine. Even establishing telephone poles and crude speaker towers.

But highly organized and fine tuned surveillance systems involving pop-up turrets, organized camera angles, microphones and speakers as well as raisable metal barriers and the electronics systems to govern them plus design and development, that is more along the lines of construction/general. Less military, more internal security.

>[X] Make More Vending Machines - We should focus on building more of the machines as is. The replica machines may not be as reliable for research purposes, but should function the same and also open up the bottleneck. And in the least, it means we have more parts for future research that aren't from the Sierra Madre, even if they aren't as efficient.
>[X] More Conventional Products - The type of products we can make are limited http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Sierra_Madre_vending_machine. Let's expand this to a much wider variety of items such as clothing, standard ammunition types (including energy), medicines, small-medium weapon parts, armor, etc.

CHOOSE:

[ ] Make it Bigger - If we make it bigger we can make much bigger things that normally wouldn't fit in it. Like parts for heavy weapons and such.

[ ] Easier Interface - We don't need to be spending hours and days making coins AND putting in coins of fissile materials into the machine. Lets figure out how to program it to accept larger ingots and churn out several products at a time.

BOON (Optional - You currently only have 1)
>[ ] Non-Fissile Materials! - If we spend most of our alien parts, we can figure out a way to hook up a disintegrator to this device. Then we no longer have to rely on hard to get radioactive isotopes. We can just expend energy instead and feed it normal metals!
>[X] Alien Parts! - If we spend most of our alien parts, we can figure out how to replicate more alien parts! Such as the fabled alien energy cells and alien power modules, and parts for their various weapons. This will make alien weapons research easier.
>[ ] Mini Nukes! - Mini Nukes! (you just can't make these!)
>[~]Very Specific Scientific Research - We can put this toward a very specific research for a huge boon on it and its various branches. Like neurology and mind control for example.

[X] Perfect Sierra Madre Replication (Nat100)
[X] Alien Knowledge (Boon)

Success!

By studying some of the Sierra Madre Parts, you figure out its circuitry and thereby gain access to its programming.

Building a specialized prototype machine, you are now able to insert large Iron Ingots and Lead Lined Containers filled with pre-prepared Fissile Material. The Machine then uses this as its resource to then pump out the resources. Still one at a time, but it means you no longer have to spend an action making so many thousands of chips and can convert Materials (Steel) and (Fissile) directly into Chips and then spend them for a stat boost, all without an action! Well, simple stuff anyway. Weapons and larger items might still take an action.

The neat thing is that while the shape and mass of the medium has changed, the ratio has not. Thus parts 2 steel and 1 parts fissile metals can still be quantified in the number of Sierra Madre chips they make.
>>
ALERT! We are running low on Fissile Materials. We spend these every time we do large projects involving the Sierra Madre Machines (because we have to make more of them).

This can be harvested from dead robots (or your own), from energy ammo caches/energy ammo trade, or in large quantities from big nuclear weapons, old nuclear power plants, or nuclear waste.

2 Parts Stee 1 Parts Fissile can be converted into Sierra Madre Chips which is your defacto state currency. Currently used only by the state.

So if I said "Research to improve the power efficiency of the eyebot design without increasing material costs" would that be sufficient detail?
>>
>>1623427
Closer.
>Research to improve the power efficiency of the eyebot design
>without increasing material costs
I take it to mean you want eyebots that use less power, but not at an increased resource cost? That's a bit of a tall order, they're very economically designed as is. There's ways to make them lighter and less power consumptive, such as inventing an "Alienized model" but that means shifting to producing alien metal.

>Arcade
"Why not just invent Solar Power robots to trail groups and let them recharge."
>>
>>1623429
Yeah that is what I am talking about. I understand your point but still, the fact that ED-E is superior implies the design can be improved, even if only by making it out of different materials.

As to solar bots, I'd planned on it but still.

So what you are saying however is that if we throw our researches into improving our robot designs, we can do so? Even if in the case of the pre-war designs, the return will be less thanks to them already being highly optimised.
>>
>>1623436
>So what you are saying however is that if we throw our researches into improving our robot designs, we can do so? Even if in the case of the pre-war designs, the return will be less thanks to them already being highly optimised.
It greatly depends on different cases. I'd ask your advisors/friends IC on various ideas you have.

Currently your standard, unaltered Eyebot model is based off the EDE design, while EDE himself is running on some upgrades installed by ARES.

The Old World researchers were good at their craft, and had time, resources, and computer models plus decades of experience and funding. The Enclave hot shots who designed stuff like the Eyebots like Dr. Whitley knew what they were doing too.

Occasionally you have profiteering schemes and questionable goals like Vault-Tec is wont to do, but when they put their mind to it the scientists of old were brilliant. Only now do you and your team + the THINK TANK approach them.
>>
>>1623445
Also as a rule of thumb its easier to make something heavier and more powerful than it is to make something lighter and less powerconsumptive, that is without also sacrificing health and armor.

NOW, if you want a "Aerodynamic" eyebot whose purpose is to act as a speedster that isn't meant to be in combat at but for incredibly fast deliveries, that's another thing.
>>
>>1623436
I think a big thing is were already applying most of the relevent core technologies, like metal types, power generators and weapons. If we have a big development in some general level texh then wed be able to radically improve our robots.

We have mastered bronze and its applications, but still have not discovered iron. Metaphorically.
>>
>>1623451
What about if we were to improve one of the components of it's design?

For example its CPU and such. Seeing as they were developed quite a short time before the war, roughly 2066 if I remember right but I could be remembering when they developed the Transistor. Would we be able to make them lighter / cheaper / more power efficient from that?

>Plant spices at newberry. Valuable valuable spices

Spices are valuable (and tasty) and you are able to plant the spices that commonly grow in the wasteland.

But there are apparently some old world spices, samples of such rare and value because they simply cannot be found naturally. Things the Ultra Luxe pays big caps for.

Black Pepper
Nutmeg
Cardamon

And several others, which grew in tropical climates in far off Asia or South America. Making these would truly be a wonder and a trade asset, but to do so would require a proper greenhouse.

>BCR

I planned on doing greenhouses for all our farms but we should establish power generation in Newberry before we do that so we can avoid straining the Big MT power network and help to avoid a big easy target during wartimes.
>>
>>1623462
>just plant it

We really only need a sample. Then we can replicate more with the vending machines or out of salient. Shouldnt be hard. Low density compared to metal, just have complex molecules.
>>
>>1623459
The Eyebot is only now made possible thanks to the miracle of the Transistor, invented not too long before the war.

But I like that you are being more specific now. Yes, in such a way that is possible, the shrinking of transistors to hold more data and be more efficient was a constant quest undertaken by the OW which can be continued. It resulted in such miracles as the Platinum Chip.

But its also a very lengthy, expensive process that cost billions. It might take many more turns and the returns are questionable for the amount of time taken.

IRL we got from Room Sized computers to cell phones that are worth 100 of them. But in general that sort of research was severely delayed and retarded in Fallout. The constraints of electrical conductivity may be different in their universe.

>>1623455
You can always improve your eyebots, but there's only so many ways to make the wheel more efficient before you get diminishing returns.

Somethings are already designed very efficiently, further upgrades are always possible but at a cost (stronger batteries, better armor, etc.)
>>

Honestly, I think we should do away with incredibly hostile disposition towards NCR and start trade relations with them. We would solve so many resource problems that way.
We can trade so many things that others have trouble acquiring.
There is entire fucking world left to expand, no need to war for land yet.
>>
>>1623481
Saturnite's benefits are its ability to hold an incredible edge. It makes a superb surgeon's scalpel, never dulls, and is very resistant to heat. It has a high strength to weight ratio, making it good for weapons and armor such as power fists and AP artillery shells, but is too expensive even by OW standards to ever be a building material.

You can certainly research it, if you get the Saturnite research plant back online.
>>
>>1623491
It's cons are that it corrodes just as well as any other metal when exposed to plasma, disintegratoin, or the Cloud. Stainless steel does better.
>>
>>1623490
Well spices are also for a spice trade. I dont want hostilities with the NCR, and secrecy is kinda a null point since we know they know about us.

Its kinda just become about who approaches who first.
>>

>Honestly, I think we should do away with incredibly hostile disposition towards NCR and start trade relations with them. We would solve so many resource problems that way.
Who says we can't do both? I see your point however and do want to trade with them.

>We can trade so many things that others have trouble acquiring.
True.

>There is entire fucking world left to expand, no need to war for land yet.
Not really, seeing as almost all the land around us is owned by the NCR and Legion. So unless you want to support my idea of Zepplin-ing out of here into Utah or something, we kinda need to fight to gain land unless we want to take over the Divide which will be hard.

>>1623491

So what you are saying is that we could use it for good armour against bullets, blades and explosives? Would it be superior to whatever our current robots are made of in that regard?

>>

No, I mean we don't need to compete with NCR yet. I'm all for waging war with legion
>>
>>1623505
>No, I mean we don't need to compete with NCR yet.
Have you noticed how fast they are advancing? How much stronger they are than when we lost at the Dam? At the current rate they'll be a serious threat to us long before we are able to confront them militarily, economically or otherwise. Especially since they keep on expanding and we really can't.

>I'm all for waging war with legion
Good but we can't win that fight either. Our best hope is to expand around both groups, advancing, uniting those whom are against them and moving east.
>>

It's funny how we are directly responsible for them becoming so powerful. If we didn't try to influence the battle and fail so spectacularly then perhaps NCR still would have their incompetent president.
>>
>>1623641
Actually, in theory if we pulled out at the Dam and didn't pull any of our stunts, they'd still have lost to the Legion.

They lost because the Dam got detonated and all the NCR troops present, literally all of their power armoured troops and many of their rangers, were killed instantly. They wouldn't have had the forces to hold on even if we didn't intervene, hell they would've probably lost even worse seeing as we did a lot of damage to the Legion and they wouldn't have had the support of the Securitrons.

>Create an Intel/Counter Intel division from chinese and regular aoldiers who show aptitude for the sort of thing
Creating a intelligence agency from scratch is a tricky subject. But if Caesar could do it, certainly you can.

There's lots of books teaching one how to sneak and avoid detection, but thats more for training people how to be spies rather than how to organize an espionage and counter espionage wing.

Thus far, you can think of three potential solutions.

>The Chinese Commissar Model. The Chinese model involves having a definitive and strict physical presence of officers enforcing strict curfews, with nigh unlimited investigative authority, and big scary uniforms and hats. Worked well in China apparently, and continues in the Colony to serve the Elder Council.

Old World + Some Agents LOCKED

You draw up plans with your brain for a maximum surveilance system. One which permeats as many facets of society as you can. Designs for small tiny cameras, microphones, and more.

Naturally, its entirely likely this won't go unnoticed by your people. You're going to have to figure out a way to sell this lack of privacy.

Selecting men loyal to your cause wasn't too hard. You're a good judge of character. You pick former caravaners, wastelanders, and even former NCR (you're sure of this guy). Of course, as a last resort maybe you could do some neurowork on their brains, but so far you get good vibes off these people.

It would be a good idea to build a proper spy school for them however. Not so much the sneaky shooty bit, you have the stealth team for that. I mean, actual critical thinking and figuring out how to maneuver different societies of the level of the frumentari. Developing disguises, aliases, and convincing fake identities. It occurs to you that if you combined that sort of training with actual special forces and sneak training, you would have powerful people indeed.

If you can get it to work. Sadly, people like you and Vulpes are very rare and you'd need to do some neuroscience to even begin to adequtely replicate it.

Take advantage of the Alien ship. Go and steal some brahmin / other livestock from the Legion. Maybe see about using it to carry away NCR train cars and shit.

We also need to:

1) Get the Blue laser tech from the followers.

2) Purchase the other slave we are allowed (maybe take some of our companions with us so they can buy slaves too? To get around the limit on how many we can buy) from the Legion.

3) Pickup the scrap metal supply that Unity's people offered us awhile back.

4) Travel to the NCR lands, recruit from the poor / downtrodden after checking their loyalties and maybe adopt some orphans. Also attempt to sabotage or steal as much of their advanced industry / designs as possible. Maybe see if we can't purchase or steal the Van Graph's energy weapon's manufacturing machines.

5) Make use of the Vault 22 / Big MT Botanical garden's research into accelerated plant growth to improve our farm's productivity. Maybe see about making them need less water as well.

6) See if we can't find the Intelligent Deathclaws or BOS we lost not too long ago.

7) Build an actual hospital for our VR educated doctors to work in. Use it to encourage our people to have some children.

8) Actually research Auto-doc's so we can have those in the Hospital as well. Even if it does make the doctors slightly redundant.

9) Repair the Saturnite mining facility and make use of it for weapons, tools and shit.

10) See about producing bikes so our people can move about quicker and shit. Don't need rubber for the wheels so long as we have good suspension and they aren't going off-road. Maybe produce attachable carts that they can pull around as well.

Didn't we already do that? I think QM mentioned we already did that in this thread.
>>
>>1624614
>Lets not go sabatoging ncr industry we wont be able to do much
Mini-nukes attached to timers (so we can get away undetected) can easily destroy vital machines and we can put viruses into their computers systems and such. If you remove the right parts from a generator or a lathe, it'll fuck itself up whenever it is used. Not to mention the possibility of cutting electrical wires, telephone wires, burning silos of crops or fuel, blowing up dams, radio towers and bridges.

>they havent attacked us yet
Aye but they seemingly expect us to attack them since they decided to encrypt their communications when we built our Digital Radio tower. Plus we need to weaken them to prolong the war with the Legion and prevent them getting too strong to deal with.

>we know they know about us
Aye but I doubt they are going to connect attacks in the centre of their industry to this seemingly isolationist group in their frontier regions, rather than with Ceaser's Legion who have supposedly infiltrated their region for years and are actively at war with them.

>>1624627
Nope, he said we instead turned it into a Modded companion in return for the Enclave / pre-war bonus. The Follower's tech isn't something we currently have but if we ask they should give us it.

If we're doing that we have to go all the way and put those missile replicators the Securitrons have on them to make bikes like this.

>>
>>1624657
Nah these are bikes for our civilians to augment their mobility in our cities without burning precious fuel, at least until we can make electrically powered trams and shit without overloading our network.

I do agree however to the creation of bikes like you suggest for our military.

>>1624663
>So they expect us to attack, so we should attack, subtly?
Aye, which is what this is.

>Hit them like that and they may lash out.
Ideally they do, towards the Legion.

Anyhow, it is unlikely they will connect this event with us seeing as we are, as far as they are aware, either a group from a Vault or something similar. They have no reason to link it to us and I would point out the industry I want to do damage to is in California rather than in our local area, at least for now.

>Doesnt matter who's in the way.
Well, in the way currently as far as they are aware is an army of robots that are capable of constructing pre-war grade infrastructure. That'd give me pause if I was the man in charge of the region.
>>
>>1624627
Whats so special about the blue laser? E have alien gunz
>>
>>1624701
Alien guns use alien parts. Blue lasers would use human parts only. Easier to manufacture and costs less.
>>
>>1624704
Not to mention the lower power requirements, making it far easier to supply with the needed energy in smaller sized robots. Like eyebots for example.
>>

>Oh yea we can give our people personal bikes when the city grows.
The bikes are a stop-gap measure. Seeing as we'll want to install mass public transit when the time comes but currently the population is too small and doesn't travel that far.

The idea behind the bikes is to make them spend less time going from A to B, to allow them to transport larger masses of things more easily and to enable them to scavenge further afield, since they are doing that anyway, might as well help them.

>I also want to make this vehicle.
I've said time and again that I want a similar vehicle but equipped with rocket pods to act as highly mobile indirect fire, allowing us to rain death on the enemy and avoid any counter fire. Maybe also produce another variation armed with a "glaive / beam" laser or disintegration ray to deal with anything it can see but the main point is that I agree we should make some raiding vehicles like these.
>>
>>1624745
well give it a stealth field and you would basically have a stealth tank, which came up alot, so...
>>
>>1624749
Stealth field would be nice but might be defeated by however loud the engine is, the cloud of dust it would raise while moving at speed and the tracks it might leave behind.

Also, these aren't going to be tanks. They are going to be fragile things that rely on mobility and unpredictable movement to avoid getting hurt.

True, but what about we make a hover tech made for stealth vehicles? Something that makes little noise and doesn't affect the ground too much.
>>

Wew, thank god my roll is still higher than these.

>>1624780
>True, but what about we make a hover tech made for stealth vehicles? Something that makes little noise and doesn't affect the ground too much.
That'd be great but of the things we have that levitate / hover, they are either eyebot sized or alien tech. It's possible we can only do it with further research into the inertia drive / levitation method of the Alien tech / ships.
>>
>>1624788
>That'd be great but of the things we have that levitate / hover, they are either eyebot sized or alien tech.
That's fine, we can just upsize the eyebot hove tech.

We won't know that until we research it so we might as well try and be optimistic.

As they scavenge the metal in the outlying areas of the Divide, the 60 robots sent encounter something annoying. The Marked Men, putting two and two together, seem to realize that these robots are harvesting their doom. They have begun to snipe from afar with Anti-Material Rifles and Sniper Rifles, disabling MK2s and forcing the MKV Hazards to move up to protect and retrieve them for repairs. This they follow up with a missile artillery barrage and suppressing laser fire, but either the Marked Men are surviving behind their rubble and debris cover, are being healed by the intense radiation, or they are simply feeding in more snipers to the field it isn't sure. They spread out as well, and also begin lobbing Plasma Caster and Rocket Fire, possibly firing and moving.

These guerilla tactics reduce the effectiveness of scavenging operations. What is normally a heavy harvest is now just barely enough to cover the expense of building the research facility. No robots have died for now.
>>
>>1624797
Yeah something like that would be useful I suppose but we can see later.

>>1624803
True but I am saying don't get your hopes up.

>>1624806
Oh I so hate the Marked Men. Let's kill more of them soon. After making more MK 5's and other combat robots. Plus flares for every combat bot so they can avoid being swarmed by the tunnelers.
>>
>>1624806
We should stop salvaging from the divide for now until we get some combat eyebots that can rush the Marked men when they attack.
>>
>>1624806
We might have to initiate a metal trade with the NCR bfore we have the resources to pucnh through the divide.
Or we can cure their condition. Unity has marked men from the neighbouring towns. If we perfect her FEEV, she can send parts to start assimilating marked men, fixing their heads and bolstering our forces.

Or we route the tunnelers out into the surface, where marked men are. Find a tunnel, and pump in poison gas, the tunnelers surface, marked men and tunnelers kill each other.
>>
>>1624822
Those wouldn't help, they'd fall to sniper fire too easily.

Our best method of winning this fight is to bring more Securitrons to fire artillery barrages at their positions constantly while slowly advancing. Maybe backed up by some flamethrower and melee robots like assaultrons.

It'd help if we upgraded all the MK2's to MK5. Seeing as it is a primarily software change, it should be fairly simple and the construction / hazard bots can manufacture any changed parts and shit.
>>
>>1624837
>Those wouldn't help, they'd fall to sniper fire too easily.
Depends on how much sniper fire there is, if we can make enough eyebots we can swarm them, if not it's still a useful distraction while our MK2's move to counter attack.
>>
>>1624836
>We might have to initiate a metal trade with the NCR bfore we have the resources to pucnh through the divide.
We could also do one with the Legion, potentially, getting the resources of both for our spices and such would be great.

>Or we can cure their condition. Unity has marked men from the neighbouring towns. If we perfect her FEEV, she can send parts to start assimilating marked men, fixing their heads and bolstering our forces.
Yeah that'd help a bit I suppose. In fact we really should just start sending her and us and any other rad-resistant heroes we have to eliminate / convert them.

>Or we route the tunnelers out into the surface, where marked men are. Find a tunnel, and pump in poison gas, the tunnelers surface, marked men and tunnelers kill each other.
We could do that quite easily, seeing as tunnelers hate bright light. Just send a few robots equipped with flares and very bright headlights into the tunnels and they can channel the hordes.

However I have been waiting to suggest we should use chemical weapons of some sort. Maybe a frenzy inducing gas or just some conventional death gas. Hell we could make our lasers and shit induce frenzy in our enemies.
>>
>>1624854
We can't trade with the Legion our people hate them.
>>
>>1624852
>Depends on how much sniper fire there is, if we can make enough eyebots we can swarm them, if not it's still a useful distraction while our MK2's move to counter attack.
I suppose but still we shouldn't rely on swarm tactics yet, at least until we have greater numbers of robots that can deploy to the Divide. Which we can achieve by upgrading the MK2's into a better model.

>>1624857
Who said our people needed to know?

Anyhow we need to trade with the Legion to get enough Legion money to free more slaves, even if we are going to do raids to free slaves, and thus can convince them that we just wanted to make use of our surplus money to get useful shit.

Plus we can teleport in and out of the Sink and the Remnant bunker in the Mojave wastes. So it's not like we can't secrete trade materials like our spices away for trade secretly.
