You are the Courier. Day by day, month by month, you are building your new nation within the confines of BigMT. Challenges are faced, goals are worked towards, and threats and allies made, as you continue to strive to build a renewed America in the blasted wasteland. Life inside BigMT is peaceful, though it is at times cramped and dull, the people have what they need to survive, but have yet to thrive. Meanwhile, you pursue several building projects and research towards technologies and constructions that you hope to propel your people and machines into the national power you aspire them to be. However, in pursuit of that goal, you ventured into the Sierra Madre to capture some of its miraculous vending machines, only to find an old nemisis, Elijah seemingly returned from the grave. You attempted to do that which you are most familiar with, blast and fight your way to his heart and destroy him, only to be repulsed, saved by one you thought dead, but returned to BigMT, grievously wounded. For now though, your people must continue to deal with the goals and problems they face day to day.

!WARNING!

Disease has struck The BoxCars, and the followers are reporting a sudden wave of Typhus spreading throughout the camp, possibly due to an underlying rat infestation. The followers are scrambling to combat the spread of this deadly disease and treat those infected, but are reporting difficulties. Medical supplies are falling rapidly.

Medical facilities are pretty nice. Wait times aren't too bad for things like checkups in regards to dentists (everything for those younger than 18 is free as well) or opticians. If you have a serious injury then it will be treated quickly and effectively.

For example when I was much younger I broke my arm and was treated in a matter of minutes after arriving at the hospital: in, saw the doctor, got an X-ray and then my memory goes a little fuzzy.

Plus there is the fact that you never worry about the potential for your doctor being pressured by drug companies to push their products on to you or anything like that.

>>1533012
Decent but moving up tax brackets and shit can be problematic and make working in certain jobs and shit pointless. As the additional money just gets taxed heavier resulting in you getting less for harder work relatively.

Also you pay money for a plastic bag in order to encourage reusing them, I mean it works but still.
>>
>>1533023
>Decent but moving up tax brackets and shit can be problematic and make working in certain jobs and shit pointless. As the additional money just gets taxed heavier resulting in you getting less for harder work relatively.
Are these marginal tax rates or straight up blocked tax brackets?

>>1533023
>I can't remember but I think it was this one.
I don't remember anything like that happening, besides the IRA discussion.
>>
>>1533030
>Are these marginal tax rates or straight up blocked tax brackets?
If you earn less than X amount you get your earnings taxed at X rate. All earnings above that amount are taxed at rate Y. All earnings above that amount are taxed at rate Z and so on.

Band Taxable income Tax rate
Personal Allowance Up to £11,500 0%
Basic rate £11,501 to £45,000 20%
Higher rate £45,001 to £150,000 40%
Additional rate over £150,000 45%

To be exact.

Bad news, the recent search for additional materials has revealed what was feared. You've scraped BigMT clean.

Luckily there's still the irradiated water tank that's no longer needed since you have a source of water.

As for the rats, trapping rats is proving a most annoying thing to do. The followers consider all sorts of things from pesticides to fumigations but find the lack of a chemical mill bothersome.

Unity comes up with her own novel solution. She stands in the middle of The Boxcars, wearing something colorful, and picks up a single rat and infects it with her hand and sends it off.

About a day passes by before she walks into the middle of the town again, holding a flute for some reason. She picks it up and begins to play. Very soon a horde of rats of every shape and size begin to pour from the settlement, and off into the distance.

The rat problem is solved.

The bad news is, further research by the brain indicates that Typhus is spread two ways. By fleas on rats, and by lice on the human body. Still this will make it somewhat easier to combat the disease, and any future rat born diseases are now prevented.

The followers say they've managed to slow the spread of the disease, they say better and more numerous housing and more numerous public baths can help prevent this. Another option is to finish the chemical mill so that soaps can be made.

>Farkas
"Either you finish up whatever project your doing to build more houses or some better bath stalls, or get us the ability to manufacture soap, this may be the first of many diseases that will continue in these cramped conditions."

You shave off some of the now no longer needed irradiated tank for medical supplies and spend it on medicine.
>>
>>1533071
I say we fast-track the chemical mill then. Everybody having access to soap helps and the chemical mill has a ton of uses.
>>
>>1533071
>Bad news, the recent search for additional materials has revealed what was feared. You've scraped BigMT clean.
You say bad news, I say good news!

That means no more Rads! We can begin deploying our population to the inner Big MT area without protective gear. We will however still need to eliminate any potential predators and such but that can be done in time.
>>
>>1533082
To do that we need the Chinese steel mill / war factory forge thing online. We can accelerate this by deploying additional labour and such but we might be better off considering alternative methods: creating simple baths and quarantining the infected for now will at least further limit the spread.
>>
>>1533086
There's still radioactive areas, certain areas of the ground and some buildings mainly.
>>
>>1533086
I suggest not doing this since
1 Some places will still be irradiated.
2 keeping Big MT equipped for research is better.
>>
>>1533102
Then there are still resources to harvest. Just more difficultly...

We'll need to construct a cyclotron.
>>
>>1533108
It will still be equipped for research, just we can now deploy them to do physical labour and such.
>>
>>1533116
Wait are you saying we can house people in Big MT or that we can send people to Big TM to work?
>>
>>1533140
To work. Once the Chinese build the industrial facilities, they'll only need to show our people how to work them.
>>
>>1533149
Oh, then yea they can do that.
>>
>>1533071
>>1533102
I vote to stick'em in BT.

My main reason for this is because we have to supply the forges of the Chinese with the steel and shit to build the factories to make the houses.

The Chinese, with the aid of your Robotic Construction workers and some securitrons, work hard on their War Factory.

Before its even complete, the industrious colonists have already churned out their first creation.

A modified bulldozer, made of some parts scrapped from the other wrecked bulldozers and forged from the now half finished Factory. It can run on either a nuclear battery, or gasoline. Currently its using a handful of the Vertibird fuel.

It will help finish their construction much faster!

You have several options for a "Stealth Team" None of which will be ready this turn, but you can begin the training. It will help when the Courier is healed.

CHOOSE:
Keene would enjoy leading his Nightkin and Lilly, you consider it might be possible to use their natural abilities to best advantage if someone like yourself with Marcus help were to train them.

Dandan says she was raised as a Crimson Dragoon, an elite position of which only one person in her base would be given in a generation. The position had to be earned by taking a VR program, 'the glorious Invasion of Anchorage', which would kill you if you fail, and survive. She did. She says she can train a group of Chinese special forces, and when the factory is finished, even make some Chinese Stealth Armor for them which she is familiar with.

Of course you could just pick a number of Companions you know are goo at sneaking and make an A-Team. Or train a team yourself of some officers.

"Hello there fellow friends of the Courier." says the Brain on a radio. "While he's incapacitated, I've noticed he gave orders to establish a stealth team.

I can imagine perhaps this is in anticipation of another attempt on that god forbidden Sierra Madre? I have words on that mind you. Still, I will point out that an organic team may be a terrible idea due to the cloud.

I believe if stealth is your method, perhaps you should consider Stealthed Robots instead. I have some design ideas, but what I would need is a robotics facility. Draining and repairing the Magnetohydraulics Plant, restoring the X-13 and the X-8 facilities will allow me to do this."

"Yes," say the Brain to one of your civ planners "organic materials and metals seem to suffer badly. But I've noticed certain materials are actually preserved, such as the building itself, though stained. I believe I could design a robot encased in a substance that might be resistant to the cloud, far easier than I could developing a suit for a human.

And even though Metal rusts in the face of the cloud, it's far easier to replace that then tissue, as seen by the Courier."

What about the Hazmats suits? All we need is to replace the Latch with something that doesn't corrode but can still function for sealing/unsealing the suit.

Bad news.

Due to confusion on the nature of the stealth team, the action has not progressed.

Unfamiliarity with a chemical plant has caused some of the workers to make a terrible accident, resulting in an explosion. Only a few people were killed, but the metal involved has been rendered unusable.

However good news is that the Chinese War Factory is finished! Though some initial difficulties were encountered, the Chinese engineering skill and the asssistance of worker robots and the Dozer has dealt with these issues. The workers have raised the Red Flag and have hosted a band before the opening of the facility. The Chinese Colony now station a permanent garrison and work force there, and are awaiting shipments of steel for the first projects.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7b4qD4qNff8&t=7s

Riddick is already moving his car inside, and is making repairs to his Charge Dodger.

However that was the last of the bags of Old World Concrete, and you have no more for building materials. Any new buildings will have to be made out of scrap or sheet metal until you get the concrete production working.

No
It would have been extremely painful

It probably wouldnt' have killed the Boxcars outright, but even if it did you still have the Crater.

and even if you lose EVERYONE, you still have the Courier.

Some immdiate things the followers suggest, as temporary measures, to help deal with some current issues.
>Spend some scrap metal to build emergency sheet metal housing
>Also build additional public baths, even with Sheet metal
>Killing some Brahmin immediately for Soap

In general the brain also suggests continuing as you are, pushing for the construction ability asap. Setting up some even primitive limestone mines, so that we could build foundations for concrete houses
>>
>>1535852
>Brain
"The Chinese actually might be good candidates for esablishing that mines. They have more trained engineers than you or the followers."

Other alleviating measures include:
-Building a mass Clothe's Washer for cleaner clothes

The followers feel traning more medically capable people would be a good idea.

Unity says she can try to send little bugs to eat the fleas off of people to stop the spread, but that would be scary and people might freak out. A campaign to inform and alleviate people might be warranted.
>>
>>1535875
>Brain
"Finding and repairing some Mr. Gutsy's to go around and keep things clean would be most useful as well."

With the new Chinese War Factory, sheet metal houses are soon built in record time, aided by the construction bots and the Chinese military base building experience. Almost overnight the framework for new and expanded houses are built, and as a bonus, public bathhouses AND big washing machines as well!

Already clothes and mattresses are being boiled and and cleansed.

What's even more important however, is remembering some old robot parts at the X-17 Medical Facility.

You have gained a new Companion!

Doctor Orderly MD PHD DDS. He comes with a full unit of Dr. Orderly's.

When given the order of treating "Typhus" epidemic. Doctor Orderly knows exactly what to do.

He heads for the old Little Yangzte Barracks where he uncovers BigMT's stock of DDT spray for cases of lice within the concentration camp, and with his fellow robots and the help of followers they are now decisively exterminating the human flea and lice infestation spreading the disease, the Typhus epidemic should soon be resolved.

Dandan has begun to train a unit of special forces. Unfortunately, part of the requirement involves using the VR simulation, which is in Chinese and not understandable to anyone of the camp. Still, it's not as if people were lining up to train in a simulation that would kill them if they failed.

In fact several of the Chinese do, but she welcomes the Survivors and personally gives them some of her spare suit parts.

She is already training and disciplining them after many more weeks afterward, instructing them on wasteland creatures and American weapons for the modern world, and says she feels they are adequate enough for usage when needed, though she recommends leading them herself.

Anyhow. Can I just ask where we are going to go from here?

I mean, we had a fairly clear plan: get industry, get houses, get science, ?, ?, ?, ?, defeat NCR and Legion. Yet I feel we are going to be putting all of that on delay to deal with the Sierra madre situation.
>>
>>1536980
Getting industry and houses is still going on.
We just need to focus on stopping Elijah for now.
>>
>>1536980
Can always consult with your brain.
>>
>>1536980
We just got delayed a bit, we still made the Chinese War Factory and the Stealth team.
>>
>>1536980
gotta get the mines and shit up and running. Build proper city.
>>
>>1536985
>>1536989
>>1536991
See I understand that, what I mean is that I feel there is a large gap in our plan between our location and our destination. Which we have no plans or objectives to fill.

I mean we can just continue solving problems as they arise but given time that won't guide us. To be entirely honest, we will need a actual plan of expansion and advancement beyond what we actually have to defeat our enemies.

I do however understand we are delaying that in regards to our actions if they can do something to help with the Sierra situation.

>>1536987
Yeah that could work.
>>
>>1537004
Yeah. We really ought to be proactive instead of reactive.
Consulting with our brain and possibly having a city hall might work.
Or even a suggestion box and getting our buildings up to par would work.
>>
>>1537004
>I mean we can just continue solving problems as they arise but given time that won't guide us. To be entirely honest, we will need a actual plan of expansion and advancement beyond what we actually have to defeat our enemies.
We do have a plan, get robots, get vending machine tech, get Big MT SCIENCE then expand.
>>
>>1537012
Yeah but we are working to a sort of courier is emperor thing but I suppose we could hold court with our companions / advisers and hear what the people have to say.

>>1537013
That isn't a plan. That is a series of objectives and goals.

How are you going to get the robots? Are we going to make them? Salvage them? Where are we going to find the resources or the robots to make / salvage them?

Once we have the vending machine tech, how are we going to use it? Backbone of or assisting our industry? Are we going to develop it towards being more efficient? Able to do larger things?

As to big mt science. Will we reinstate the use of human test subjects? Will we continue the pre-war projects or start new ones? Will we even have access to the resources to make use of them?

As to expansion, where? Into the Legion? The NCR? The divide? Aggressively, passively or covertly? Will we build towns? Military outposts? Will people live there or will it just be to get resources and technology for our city?
>>
>>1537065

>Once we have the vending machine tech, how are we going to use it? Backbone of or assisting our industry? Are we going to develop it towards being more efficient? Able to do larger things?
I had this argument before, i want the Vending machines to assist our industry but to also be the backbone of a National industry which we'll use in emergencies and for expansion.

>As to big mt science. Will we reinstate the use of human test subjects? Will we continue the pre-war projects or start new ones? Will we even have access to the resources to make use of them?
>Implying we won't do all the SCIENCE!(Except the human experimentation)

>As to expansion, where? Into the Legion? The NCR? The divide? Aggressively, passively or covertly? Will we build towns? Military outposts? Will people live there or will it just be to get resources and technology for our city?
I dunno.
>>
>>1537108
>>I have some design ideas, but what I would need is a robotics facility. Draining and repairing the Magnetohydraulics Plant, restoring the X-13 and the X-8 facilities will allow me to do this."
Still need to secure the resources for the robots.

>I had this argument before, i want the Vending machines to assist our industry but to also be the backbone of a National industry which we'll use in emergencies and for expansion.
That fails to answer the second set of questions but I suppose it will do.

>>Implying we won't do all the SCIENCE!(Except the human experimentation)
That is sufficient I suppose.

>I dunno.
Then think about it. I have already figured out plans for expansion into the divide and the Legion.
>>
>>1537130
expanding east would probably be easiest. Abandoned resources once we stop the divide storms, and once we hit the mojave we become liberators, which is a big plus when trying to recruit settlers.
>>
>>1537159
I don't plan on stopping the divide's storms.

I plan on constructing vault like bases throughout the region and merely letting the surface continue being difficult to travel through.

This will protect us from Legion or NCR attacks without compromising the lives of our people.
>>
>>1536987
>>1537159
>>1537183
But the storms are generated by the BigMT, aren't they? Couldn't we try controlling it to create a natural disaster-tier weapon of the C-Finder?
>>
>>1537183
Well, not immediately, but when we start to expand. Also the storms are to our east and die down before they reach us.
They don't protect us from the NCR, just the fact everyone who went to the mountain got lobotomized.

And i want the stop the storms when we start expanding east. As they stand, they do block the legion, but they would also hurt any troops or supplies we try to send East.
>>
>>1537190
Too imprecise seeing as we don't want to kill everyone in our path. However...if we could make them rise out of nowhere we could use it to eliminate NCR or Legion attacks...
>>
>>1537130

>Implying we won't do all the SCIENCE!(Except the human experimentation)

>Implying we shouldn't use any of the Legion guinea pigs for new weaponry
>Implying Moore doesn't deserve to be picked apart and tested over and over
>Implying we shouldn't have the Omertas be punished for gassing the Strip

It's like you think they don't deserve it. As for the Divide, what the hell are we gonna do about the tunnlers, marked men and deathclaws?

And, I got a feeling that the kid Unity will have is going to be a Tzimice. And I will shed tears of joy when he/she is making a living cathedral of flesh our of legionaries.
>>
>>1537218
The legion are people, just brainwashed and confused. If we can take them prisoner and break their indoctrination, then we can get them on our side.
The omerta's should be punished, but human experimentation is kinda excessive. Public executions would be better.
And why moore? She always seemed like just another military leader, if a bit hawkish.
>>
>>1537213
I mean they protect people in that region from attacks by those two sides.

As to them hurting troops moving through, why not just build a bunch of tunnels? Seriously just build a giant excavator robot.

>>1537218
Human testing is something we can debate later.

As to the plan for the:
>Tunnellers
Fire, fire and explosives.

>marked men
Snipers can eliminate most of them at range. The rest can be eliminated by use of robots.

>death-claws
King "best friend" of the intelligent death-claws would like more citizens I assume.
>>
>>1537259

The only good people in the Legion are the slaves and maybe the guy that replaces Vulpes when he dies. The rest are slavering, torturing, raping, maybe canibalistic assholes that need to suffer.

So long as it's execution by gas chamber I'll be happy to execute the Omertas.

Moore's just a glory hound bitch who's idea of dealing with other factions is killing them all and fuck the consequences, ended up getting one of the good people of the NCR to get replaced, and she gets off with all of her dickery not only scot free but rewarded.

Hanlon is a tired old man that can be sympathized with, Oliver is entertaining and would be someone who'd be a guy to drink with, Moore is a dyke that needs to suffer.

>>1537305

I was thinking that if at all possible, maybe use the tunnelers as a weapon in it's own right. Marked men can be wiped out. And I forgot about best friend, he would need more subjects.

And maybe as a sort of gesture, when we're fixing the place up. We promote Ulysses as the mayor of the place, it won't be the Divide like it became. It'll be Hopeville once again.
>>
>>1537396
You seem to be projecting at least a little on Moore. She's a hardline warhawk, but most of her decisions are not pure bloodthirst. The Brotherhood have historically been enemies of the NCR- they irradiated the NCR gold supplies- the Khans are raiders who have now proven to be okay with destruction if it bloodies the NCR's nose, and the Kings were engaging in violence with NCR citizens and soldiers.
She's kinda a dick, but not legion tier dick, deserving anywhere near the same fate.

Construction has begun on the Chemical Mill, based on some Chinese designs, having learned from the mistakes of the past, and is proceeding at pace. A few more actions and at this rate it will be up and running.

Meanwhile, your best and brightest begin analysis of the Biological research station and how it works. Only a handful of people seem to have a grasp on it, namely Gabriel Sanchez, Veronica and Arcade. Gabriel's Brain is of most useful help here, itself being tutored by your own Brain.

Progress is going swimmingly at least.

Meanwhile, the Securitrons can't seem to find the source of earthquakes or what caused the power outage.

Strangely though, the Think Tank report a 100% increase in power output since the earthquake. The securitron's do find a. . .boy. You recognize him, it's the forecaster. He's wearing an odd striped shirt and holding a clean Cosmic knife in his hand and greets you with a smile.

"There won't be anymore problems with what's underneath the mountain for a long time. I've dealt with it, for now."

He refuses to extrapolate any further.

Now we just need the steel and concrete production facilities up and we can start rebuilding in old world grade structures.

Your not sure how to feel about this. This has never happened to you before. You've survived the Sierra Madre (twice), fought your way through an alien spaceship. But being a father is completely foreign to you.

You are with Unity in a special containment room. Unity tells you not to worry about infection, if strains of the FEV were transmissible by blood and mucus you'd have become a super mutant by the first Supermutant you gutted or just having made love to her.

Still you make sure anything left on the floor and bed will be incinerated later on.

Unity is very, calm about all this. Her heart is racing and body reacting, but she's very composed. "Am I excited? Yes and no. I've never done this before. And yet, I have done this before, lots of times."

You're not sure whether you're holding her hand to comfort her, or yourself.

"Congratulations son, it's a- . .a. . .I don't know. . ."

Okay, yes you weren't very prepared what just happened, but at the same time you are at least vaguely familiar with the process of a human birth. But what you're staring at before you, nothing could have prepared you.

Unity is nursing. . .it. It writhes. It squirms. It wriggles and moves. It's about the most alien thing you've ever seen. She grasps it tenderly in her arms feeding it on her chest, coo'ing smiling, while you are scrambling to understand just what to feel exactly.

You notice a flicker of sadness on her face.

"I will return there to raise them myself, out of sight of your 'people' if that's what you want. As for gender. . they've not decided yet what they want to be, and as you can see, there aren't any obvious organs for it.

Are you familiar with the phrase Tabula Rasa? When we are born into Unity, that's what we are. A blank slate, learning by experience and example, developing character and identity.

I can't prove it. But I also feel this one is special. Much more than the others. And I know its not just because its mine. I know it because I can feel their thoughts, they can hear our voices."

It does something between a burp or a fart and squirts on her patient gown, a Mr. Orderly wipes it up.

So you could say I'm somewhat torn on the issue. I'm so used to having my cake and eating it, too. I...don't know what to do."
>>

"I want a world for my children and friends where disease, famine and raiders are a thing you see in films or read about in a history book. I want a world where I can relax and I don't have to defeat things like the Legion or stop nuclear launches from the divide and all that sort of thing.

I want...peace and prosperity for those I care about and I know that I can't offer those things here yet but I know your settlement is better set up, more prepared, more...stable. At least for now. Anyhow, it's only the physical form which will leave, you will still be able to communicate with it and through you I can too.

Plus, if you are right about it being different then I'll need to keep a close eye on it. If it is going to turn out to be some sort of messiah or next evolution of human and unity, then we should be careful it doesn't turn away from those we would want it to help and protect."

What does this mean exactly?
>>
>>1537931
Y'know like the stories where there's an ugly deformed monster, but then in the end it sheds its old form and emerges as a beautiful angel with phenomenal powers and all because one person showed it compassion rather than hate.
>>

If it stays here and is rejected by the people, it may grow to hate them or at the very least have problems with them. We must be careful in how we raise it to avoid it becoming...evil isn't what I mean but it is the only word I can think of. Misguided maybe?

If it stronger than either us or unity then chances are we can't realistically beat it. Once it understands its powers fully.

Plus, it means that we are somehow different from the rest of humanity's genetics if it is different.
>>
>>1537958
The baby is a combination of super dilluted FEV and irradiated human genes.
Only time will tell just how different it is from humanity at large.

also not to mention all the genetic abnormalities we probably have from all the modifications in our body.

Except she said it was different from every other child borne out of unity.

All of these were born from FEV and irradiated humans. Specifically wastelanders turned ghouls.

However, this child is born from a pre-war, non-irradiated human effected by FEV and a post-war "superhuman" with more implants than fingers.

God knows how it is going to turn out but I wouldn't be surprised if it achieves the original purpose of FEV entirely. A new, better, human.

"I have to say, what you attempted back there was absurdly reckless, and that's even coming from you. From what I can tell, Ulysses has managed to unlock the one thing I had hoped we could use for our benefit. The Vending Machines. With time and that amount of resources and a mind like his, he must have fortifid himself extensiely. I don't think a 3rd failed saboteur attempt is warranted.

What I think is. . .we're going to have to work on our own army. And fast. I dare to say, but this may be one of the situations where using those Divie nuclear armaments may be warranted."

>>1538237
>Ghost Person
"We had a conversation about technology. The Brotherhood, the NCR, the Legion. Then after he came back from the Think Tank, he told me where Elijah was headed to the Sierra Madre. This was before you rescued me. I'm guessing from all the Commonwealth Flags and . . .whatever you are doing here in the Big Empty you met him already."

By the way, did you guys know the Courier can read Chinese for some reason?
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Chinese_Army:_Special_Ops_Training_Manual_(Fallout:_New_Vegas)
>>
>>1538370
Cold or allergies?
>>
>>1538373
I assume there might have been some US army manuals about Chinese left over from the war.
Like for code-breaking and espionage shit.
That or some Chinese ghouls were running around the US after the war.
>>
>>1538381
no they're apparently given to chinese infiltrators, and the cover has chiinese text.
>>
>>1538375

More than likely allergies, pretty bad. I'm getting that feeling whenever it's like you're about to sneeze but don't. Plus headaches
>>
>>1538397
I'm talking about hypothetical manuals given out by the US army, not the obviously Chinese-in-origin spec-ops manuals.
>>
>>1538403
Motrin and plenty of fluids. Anything but soda and milk. Ideally water or orange juice.
Also give your eyes and ears a rest.
>>
>>1538373
How many damn languages does the courier know?
>An intelligent Courier is able to understand and speak fluent Latin, as during Silus Treatment, the Courier can deceive Silus into thinking that they are a Legion assassin by speaking Latin phrases. However, the Courier's knowledge of the language may actually be limited as they do not understand one of Arcade Gannon's Latin phrases.
>Dialogue with Raul shows that the Courier has at least a passing knowledge of Spanish.

Here's a fun fact, after hoover damn the Courier returns to Big MT.
>It is stated in the endings for Old World Blues, that in the years following the Second Battle of Hoover Dam that the Courier returned to Big MT and watched over it, keeping a close eye over the sciences and goings on of the facility while gradually reintroducing sciences both forgotten and new back into the Wasteland as needed.

>>1538329
>Ghost Person
"Dog, Dean, and I considered waiting for you at the fountain, but you never came. The two of them left for the Mojave. I stayed, thought I should try and warn anyone else that wanted to try and enter the Sierra Madre safe. Managed to get the Ghost Peron's to tolerate me. Its a lot easier to study their behavior when you aren't compelled to kill the due to a bomb around your neck. Every now and then I had to go out to get supplies.I heard about you, how you that you went off to face Ulyssess in the Divide. Didn't know what happened after that.

Next thing I know when I come back, I see holograms herding the ghost people like cattle and robots everywhere, constructing things and carrying away all the vending machines they could find. They spotted me, I had to go into hiding.

I've . . .had to make some more sacrifices to stay hidden from Elijah's machines."

>>1538330
". . .no, I don't want Veronica to see me right now."

Huh, you had asked that because Veronica was a member of the Brotherhood. But from the tone of her voice it almost felt like there was something else. You want to ask further, but you get the feeling she won't give an answer and don't press it.
>>1538334
"I don't know. However he did it, he's been acting entirely through his machines. He's taken over much of the Sierra Madre's electronic systems. I haven't seen him in person though. The cloud is somewhat radioactive. Could it be used to power / supply the replicators? It would explain where he is getting the materials to feed them seeing as the casino has a limited amount of chips...

God dammit why must every dialogue write-in be accepted?
"Do you know where he put the Vending machines? Or what he's done to the hologram emitters?"
>>
>>1538442
"I've seen them gather all the chips they could find. There's a lot more we all missed, more than I can even count. Still, it doesn't explain how he manages to build everything.

But then maybe I was too busy trying to survive and hide to notice his bots decide to go out and scavenge while I'm not looking."
>>1538446
"That would explain where he's getting all his equipment. I'm not sure, after I saw them carry the vending machinse into the casino the next thing I notice is the sound of robots welding metal inside.

I notice new equipment seems to come from some barracks he's built for the ghosts."
>>1538449
"Dog said nothing. Dean said he'd go and try his fortunes in 'Las Vegas'."
>>
>>1538459
"He's taken them over that's for sure. When he's not going out on his balcony to glow like some ancient God and shout at the Ghost People through the intercom, he's having them march around and lead the ghost people to do their bidding. I think he was watching me walk among them and their behavior."

Okay so we aren't getting those without a fight or a big explosion.

>I notice new equipment seems to come from some barracks he's built for the ghosts."
Makes sense he would leave one or two outside, we might be able to grab those and run without him stopping us.

>"Dog said nothing. Dean said he'd go and try his fortunes in 'Las Vegas'."
"Then there is a good chance he is dead but I will go and check as soon as possible"

Operation save Dean from Legion is a go.
>>
>>1538469
>>1538476

Who knows? Maybe the Legion appreciates his songs so much he's Caesar's personal entertainer now?
>>
>>1538477
>>1538481

He better be alive, if not then I propose we keep the Legion alive. Only for this reason:

They're gifts for the Think Tank. They can go nuts on them.

And when we invade, we turn Vegas into their very own personal Nanking
>>
>>1538514
>Vegas into their very own personal Nanking
Without all the rape and whatnot, right?
>>
>>1538477
"Not the way you were doing it, that's for sure, and as far as I'm aware, not at all. Elijah is insane and paranoid, but he's brilliant at using this to plan for everything. That's how he lopped us into those bomb collars.

And what operation might that be? I heard from the followers you disabled some nuclear weapons. I'd wonder if this is a good reason to re-enale them."

Anymore quetions? Otherwise I'll do the turn update
>>
>>1538516
Of course not.
>>
>>1538514
Nanking is not zsomething to be replicated, by anyone. And a number of the legion are conscripts who are trying to survive as much as anyone else. They are not all automatically irredemable.
>>
>>1538521
>I heard from the followers you disabled some nuclear weapons.
And what if Elijah has Anti-nuke defenses?
>>
>>1538521
Do you know of any weak points, or blind spots in his security?
>>
>>1538488
"Not at all. I don't even know what's down there in the Vault right now. Whatever it it is it's behind a massive army of ghosts and holograms and reinforced metal and concrete walls.

Oh, and the Cloud."
>>
>>1538521
>We would rearm the warheads, but we want to get those vending machines out first if at all possible.
>>
>>1538533
"Then you need to think of some other way to smash him, preerably with something very big and powerful."
>>1538535
"I survived by pretending to be a ghost.

. . .unfortunately, it stopped being 'pretend' some time ago. Even then it's been getting harder. He's doing something to the Ghost people's brains, but I don't know what. You seen any of his armored officers walking around? They weren't acting like normal Ghost at all."
>>
Quick question QM, is the meteorological station in range of the Sierra madre? Or is at least in range between the Sierra madre and the Mojave?
>>
>>1538550
The Divide Storms do not reach the Sierra Madre, and you are not even aware if the Meteorological statoin is actively playin a part in that or if its a permanent facet of the place.
>>
>>1538549
we do have a giant robo scorpion apparently. That could be our battering ram.
And i'm sorry. Maybe after this all done, we can fix you up.
>>
>>1538526

>Legionaries
>Just trying to survive
>Rape, crucifixion and torture are a pass time
>Not all automatically irredemable

It's like you want me to feel sympathy for them. Only good things to come out of the Legion were Joshua, Ulysses, and the New Vegas colosseum. They're scum that need to be wiped out

>>1538516

Not rape, just body horror and driving them insane with white noise. And feeding them to a new animalistic horror Borous would cook up

>>1538549

>"What do you mean by that?"

>>1538578

What do we need? Our very own Liberty Prime, five years ago
>>
>>1538570
We're going to have to investigate that as soon as possible, if we can trap the cloud and prevent it from moving we have defeated Elijah's plan.
These should be our next actions.
>Attack the Sierra madre with the stealth team, use a false flag on the Casino to draw Ghost people away so we can go in and take the Vending Machines.
>Use the Meteorogical station to prevent the cloud from spreading out of the Sierra madre.
>Get the robot army up and running as soon as possible.
>Make a agent capable of neutralizing the cloud.
>>
>>1538585
remember the legions history.
They get approached with an offer to join something big, which would give them the strength to defeat their enemies. And then they're families are broken apart and the boys are conscripted and the women are enslaved, and the feeble are killed.
Im sure many reveled in the legion's misdeeds, but im also sure many just wanted to survive.
>>
>>1538578
What about the Chinese tanks? They could work.
>>
>>1538578
"A battering ram better have a big enough army behind it."
>>1538585
"Elijah isn't going to be defeated by some plucky team going in and kiling him with his guard down. He's got a lot of technology and paranoia, he might as well literally have eyes on the back of his head."
>>
>>1538585

And in the case of Joshua, he wasn't even born into it. I should really thank New Canaan...oh wait, it's GONE. Why? Because Caesar's nothing but a petty and spiteful cunt.

>>1538600

The slaves can be saved, but for the rest? An ultimatum:

"Give up and reform, or you will know the true meaning of suffering."

The last moments of the Legions history will be three words: Failure, humiliation, and suffering.

>>1538616

>"Well, I better attack from bellow then."
>>
>>1538612
>>1538616
Im not suggesting sending only the scorpion in, but to accompany them with ground troops and armour. It would just be the thing that deals the most damage.
>>
Quick question, where's the Ghost's barracks?
>>
Hey QM, can we reverse engineer the Sierra madre Machines we have now? I recall we have 2.
>>
>>1538646
>Christine
"I know where they are, on the ground level of the actual Casino area. Not the Villa."
>>1538681
You can, you would just decidedly be without half or all of your vending machien capability for emergency uses
>>
Anyway, writing turn updat. Feel free to talk to Christine or Brain or Unity some more.
>>
>>1538706
Alright then, first we spend all the remaining radioactive metal we have to stock up, then we reverse engineer the Machines.
Let's do the turn update.
>>
>>1538716
To brain
>Would you recommend taking apart one of our vending machines to reverse engineer the technology right now?

So it is understood what the plan to deal with Elijah is?

We perform a smash and grab attack with all of our resources and anything we can get quickly. Grabbing as much as we can, replicators being the highest priority, before retreating and deploying the divide's nuclear weapons to eliminate him.
>>
>>1539935
Nah, we should change our plan cause Elijah could have Anti-nuke defenses.
Here's a better plan >>1538598
>>
>>1539982
I doubt that even Elijah is so paranoid as to go and make defences against nukes.

Assuming however that plan is more popular we can use it. At least some of it can be salvaged assuming my plan is more popular. Such as the anti-cloud and meteorological station.
>>
>>1539986
Why develop defenses for something we could prevent right now.
>>
>>1540004
Because those are parts of the plan that he is suggest is more popular.

Also because learning to use the meteorological station would give us a super-weapon far better than a simple nuke.

Also because we can't stop the cloud forming seemingly and thus should attempt to develop a counter to it of some sorts.
>>
>>1539986
House was, why wouldn't Elijah be?
>>
>>1540019
I suppose you have a point. The meteorological station is probably our best bet in the long run.
>>
>>1540024
House did calculations to show a nuclear war was inevitable and had access to the resources of the old world entirely. He would've been a fool in his plans to not prepare to eliminate the nuclear exchange targeting his area.

Vote to spend them as you wish using your next action.

Research on the Bio-Research Station is nearly making a breakthrough. They've analyzed the cloning and gene splicing technology present within the biological research station. They only need certain missing puzzle piece components to make a larger version.

To finish a blueprint design for a larger Bio-Research station. They will need ONE of the following:
CHOOSE (in next action)
-The parts to a single Sierra Madre Vendng Machine. This will allow them to develop a basic organic genome replicator.
-An existing clone replicator and splicing module. According to BigMT's records, Vault City may have one but you'll need to go on a long journey there.
-You could spend a boon to design one yourself

---

The Small Chemical Mill is completed! The engineers cheer, as now numerous chemical and plastic products can be made!

---

Before you decide to train a unit of sharpshooters, you consider who and what you want your sharpshooters to be armed with.

CHOOSE:
-Add them to Dandan's existing stealth team.
-Raise some from your own soldie ranks. You suspect you as a hero action will be best suited for this
-The Brain has an idea for some sharpshooter turrets using computer targeting to fire accurately at long range

CHOOSE:
You will arm them with:
-Sniper and/or Anti-Material Rifles
-Design a new kind of energy weapon to manufacture, laser seems suitable
-Investigate alien disintegrator and ray technology? This may be exactly what you need to dismember those ghosts!

Breaking apart the Vending Machine to salvage some of its technology the followers (and brains) make a breakthrough. Applying the pieces of the Vending Machine they've figured out how to make more of the biological research stations!

The applications of this are tremendous. Imagine the ability to grow plants from dried seed, anywhere there is soil and water, at 100% success rates! No more farmers praying to the gods above that their seeds germinate or their crops survive. And the applications of Salient green enormous. Even the NCR's Vault City would be jealous.

However, there is a wonder. Would it be more effective to make a bigger one of these things, or make more of them? They decide to do both, putting the brain of the original model into the much larger version and linking it to the newer smaller models. You house the units in the old X-12 research center, however, for some reason you and your scientists just can't get the damn machines to turn on. No matter what you try.

Strangely, BCR and says he knows how to rouse his "people" to action but demands connection to the Light Switch 02 and Blind Diode James. You acquiesce to his request.

>Biological Research Station Mk2
"Aw yeah baby. Ain't gotta force my new people, ya gotta wake em up to the groove of sweet, sweet seedmakin'

Now, give it up for my DJ ol' Blind Diode James, this next piece of sweet music I been workin with him myself. Hit it!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHEsE9yN2CY

The music plays, and Light Switch 02 casts her dark pink glow upon the room as the lights dim. As Blind Diode James music spreads throughout the whole room, you see the other BCR's hum to life and flash with a rainbow of blinking buttons and lights.

>Biological Research Station Mk2
"Wake up my Brothers and Sisters! I hope ya'll are plugged in and buckled down, cause this seedin' party ain't gonna end until the bombs fall."

A chorus of voices join in, almost. . .singing in perfect unison, and the flash of colorful buttons beats in time with the song. You don't know why, but your feet start tapping.

---

You now have a Biological Genome Center, and can now produce Salient Green en masse! In addition your ability to grow farms in the city of BigMT has skyrocketed.
>>
>>1541920
I sure as shit hope we have a recording of this. We need good music for the party.

There's a lot of details to be hashed out when it comes to training sharpshooters. Whether you want them to be actual lone individual snipers, or simply dedicated marksmen to be deployed within units. Its a hotly debated topic even in the NCR.

Before any of that however, you need to actually train accurate shooters. So before actually training snipers or marksmen, you and your companions go out and run trials to select the people most familiar with the handling of weapons and guns.

You construct a makeshift shooting range at the Boom Town Target Zone. You select some of your best marksmen such as Cannibal Johnson, Hazel, and Rose of Sharon along with some officer to organize the group and refine their basic rifle handling and ability to pick targets at range.

For now you suspect it would be wise to finalize a version of whatever weapon they truly will be armed with so as to drill and train them in the use of it first.
>>
>>1541971
So finalize a design for our soldiers' primary weapon? Give me a minute, I'll whip up a neat looking Laser Rifle.
>>
>>1541971
Raul and some of your other more mechanically minded prepare the pipe and drainage system for the Magneto Hydraulics plant, using the Chinese Factory to forge the necessary parts.

The problem however is that the Magneto Hydraulics plant itself was serving as a reservoir, and there currently isn't another good place to store it. That place didn't have much radiation, and though not ideal for drinking was suitable for farming purposes.

A new water storage plant would be needed to make useable the water. But you have the pipes ready to drain.

>Brain
"I approve of the idea. Draining the Magneto Hydraulics plant will allow msyelf and Dr. 0 to resume BigMT's robotics program."

While you hand pick marksmen for a group of elite shooters, the Securitron's prepare for military action against the mothership.

It looms overhead, bigger than any structure in BigMT despite its severe damage, and even now the Chinese report its crawling with aliens and who knows what else.

This may very well be the first real test of the Securitron's against what might be a technological equal.

The alien weapons as far as you are aware, do not use any form of familiar plasma.

Their disintegrator rifles, rather than melt as Plasma would do, literally disintegrate things. Often chunks of metal or rock would simply no longer exist, as if they were carved out, and do not feel even hot to the touch. A critical hit by you does result in an explosion, but that has to do with a special implant perk you have that transform energy weapons into an explosive blast.

The alien blaster seems to fire a much more concentrated version of the stuff, as a concentrate beam rather than a 'blob' of disintegration, but uses the much rarer Alien Power Cells, rather than the more numerous Alien Energy Cells.

>>
>>1542067
It depends on the density. The metal used in Vault Doors, some of the heaviest metals on earth, barely leave a scratch. It is effective against robots and armor though it may take several shots.

It has the benefit against Plasma in that Plasma leaves behind molten metal that reduces the effectiveness of more Plasma Shots, while the disintegrator does not.

>>

Fair enough.
I figure designing a specialist rifle for every application just ensures better performance in those applications anyways.
>>

well no. There should be a 'common' fire arm for our main-stream military forces. A semi-auto for them. A Sniper rifle design for our snipers/scouts and then heavy weapons one for the hard hitting stuff.
>>
>>1542494
Why semi-auto? isn't three round burst a decent compromise between the accuracy of single shots and the quantity of full auto?
>>
>>1542502
You put your shots were you want them, and only held back by how quickling you can pull the trigger. Burst fucks up because you're forced to compensation for the barrel having 3 bullets quickly leaving it. Also Semi converse ammo better.

Seeing as we're moving away from conventional cartridge based ammunition and firearms, taking hints from the Mosin Nagant probably won't do us any good unless we're fighting Nazi's or Capitalists.
>>
>>1542572
I only want the Mosin-Nagant's reliability applied to our guns, i don't think we have to use the cartridge based ammunition for that.
>>
>>1542556
This is why you don't pull the striker back until you need to. Ammo doesn't magically start on fire like humans you know. Besides the judge is rather good in testing and I've had no problems with my CC of it.

>>1542564
Honestly, The Nugget is useful because its pretty much wood and a metal rod. With what we're doing we're most likely gonna pull an M16/M16A1 which sucked when they first came out and then got better over time. Then again all fire arms go through this.

nuggets are a pain in the ass to clean and the ammo atleast here in America has gone up sense we put more sanctions on russia.

>>

What's the average price per round nowadays anyways?
Considering getting a some as my friend is selling his mosin for like $225
>>
>>1542648
Well you do that by making the external parts extremely durable and by making the internal mechanism as simple and robust as possible.
We accomplish all that by having good design principles and even better materials.
>>
>>1542648
You should never use your firearm like that. You have a combat knife for a reason and we'll have those Comstic knives for our boys.

>>1542655

>>
>>1542666
>You have a combat knife for a reason and we'll have those Comstic knives for our boys.
Knifes can't be used like sledgehammers or clubs, don't have the size to act like boat oars and aren't long enough to be used like a crutch.
>>1542665
That is exactly what i want to do with our guns.
>>
>>1542684
Should always do that in the first place.

>>1542685
I'm confused, Why is our properly trained military forced that will have proper weapons suddenly be using Sledgehammers or clubs?
>>
>>1542691
You never know when you need a club or boat oar in war, private.

Sledgehammer and clubs are terrible ideas.
>>
>>1542699
Look, I get it, the rifles should be able to take a beating.
But if the troops run out of ammo, their first option for defense certainly isn't gonna be to swing their rifles.
They have knives and shovels before they start swinging around complex machines.
>>

Also, our frontline would be mainly robot, and our human specialists in the rear. If they are in melee, something's gone quite wrong.

Sure thing bud.
If we can actually make a version that isn't bulky as shit, I guess we could issue some.
>>
>>1542849
well, relatively. Compared to a super sledge or shovel.
And you can probably wear one and shoot a gun, so it makes a good back up weapon, without the need to switch weapons.
>>
>>1542863
I still don't think it's a particularly good melee weapon due to it's effective range being the same as one's own fist.
Although at that point, I guess it's down to individual troop preferences.
>>
Hey QM. Do you have your MS Paint sketches done yet?
>>
>>1542863
You cannot wear one and fire a gun actually. its started in one of the games. Its too bulky for that.
>>
Can we design an AM rifle variant that fires modular munitions? Like, say, a miniaturized Plasma generator that heats up a spike of solid metal as it flies, impacting first with a supersonic bolt of plasma, then a layer of metal moving so quickly through the ionized air that even a railgun shot would have trouble matching its kinetic force?

Or a laser shot that burns away the atmosphere in front of it, all but eliminating air-resistance to the bullet?

Or a taser-spike that is actually meant to embed itself in the target and shock the everliving fuck out of them instead of punch through?

Or a smart bullet that can course correct to actually hit who it's being aimed at regardless of things like wind, bullet drop, or if the target's moving?

Or an airburst shell that's like a very tiny frag going off as it moves behind enemy cover?

Or a thermite anti-armor shell that hits the target with enough force to trigger its thermite payload and start burning?

Or a 'Mini-Nuke' shell that is an even further scaled-down version of a nuclear device (albeit with a proportional loss in power)

Or a 'Gamma Shot' that starts emitting harmful, potentially lethal levels gamma radiation from wherever the bullet gets embedded?
>>
>>1543083
That would probably be bullet construction. Like in Xcom, with the dragon rounds, ap rounds, bluescreen rounds, etc.
>>
>>1543092
We should totes do that.

>The Safe Way - Just go about and scavenge as many fallen alien weapons as possible. It will give us a small to moderate amount of weapons to work with. We could simply train with them as is, or try to reverse engineer them but that would be very difficult without replication.

>The Armory - We could try to attack the Alien Armory. It might have weapons hitherto unseen, and a lot of standard alien weapons. This may give us lots of ammunition and armaments to experiment on.

>The Alien Factory - It stands to reason that the place the aliens produce things may give us a means to produce alien weapons, or at least robots

---

You remember that Riddick wants to find his home planet, another burnt out and ruined world, though he wouldn't tell you the name.

Riddick has a lot of weapons he won't share with you, a gravity gun from a group of space mercs he used to be the boss of, a "Helion" energy rifle meant for human use. The technology used in these alien energy weapons might provide additional info or options on reverse engineering the Zetan tech. He might give them to you if you figure out a way to give him a fighter ship and a map to find his homeworld, though why he would trade one blasted planet for another is a mystery to you.

But then you'd lose the best auto-mechanic (well, only really), driver, and one of the best fighting companions you got.

Your securitrons make their way toward the armory, you watch from the Forbidden Zone's monitor as they make short work of a few straggler, collecting any guns they find. Some of your more durable companions like ARES, Mary-Jo, and ED-E are among the robotic force. You decide to send some expendable robo Scorpions to act as fodder.

The armory door is this big metal thing, which the Securitron's begin to cut away with their gatling lasers. It does some time, several hours in fact. After the door has been sufficiently weakened, they blast open the door and charge their way in.

Immediately the first waves of Robo-Scorpions and several securitrons are met with a hail of disintegration fire and are blown to pieces, gunned down by heavily entrenched and shielded aliens behind energy barrers, holding their guns and even manning alien turrets. Securitrons'are blown up one after the other, but the sheer mass of metal surges on, pressing the robot corpses like a moving shield, launching rockets and gatling lasers in successive waves of fire.

A fierce and terrible firefight erupts in the armory, alien energy weapons and bombs shred even the might securitron's vaunted titanium armor with such quantity of firepower. The alien's inertial shields protect them from some the explosive blasts of the missile barrages, but provide little protection against gatling lasers.

Though outnumbered and outgunned, the battle soon prove to be in your favor simply through concentration of force and firepower. The amount of missiles, gatling lasers, and the companions leading the way forcing through the alien's heavy defenses, making them fall back. It almost seems like you could win this.

Everything goes wrong however, when one of your companions looks up and spots a small, odd looking alien flying in the air with a jetpack. It holds a glowing energy weapon different than all the rest, and before they can do anything, huge blasts of lightning and EMP pulse wipes out visual feed of scores of securitrons, and suddenly communications are cut off.
>>
>>1544740
Okay so on the one hand we may have just lost a large portion of our forces and even some companions.

On the other, that EMP gun could work wonders against Elijah's hologram projectors.
>>
>>1544744
>and even some companions.
>He says this like it's no big deal.
>>
>>1544748
It is a big deal but things could be far worse seeing as we almost lost the Courier not too long ago and the loss of companions compared to him is...acceptable. Not wanted but acceptable.
>>
>>1544754
Yeah, but ed-e is best boy. Hes the heart of the op. Him and veronica
>>
>>1544756
True, ED-E is purest robo-boy but the loss of ARES could be more crippling to our technological development potentially.

Seeing as she is our only aeronautics expert outside of the few ex-enclave we have and they only know how to fly and maintain a verti-bird. Where as ARES was a flight instructor and maintenance system.
>>
>>1544763

>>
>>1544770

>>
>>1544770
True. Chances are things are...fine? Fine-ish?

Point is things are probably not going to fall apart entirely but I doubt we are going to like the outcome.
>>
>>1544776
We get many super good weapons. Seeing as we get their armoury.

Speaking of which we really need to focus down on the robotics front and get working on mass producing simple military and construction robots. Once we can expand quickly beyond big mt and into other areas I want to get started with creating bunkers / hidden bases in resource / tech rich areas like the divide for us to use to start extracting and sending the good stuff back to our city.
>>
>>1544776
I'd rather have our companions.
>>
>>1544781
We can get more companions.

In saying that, we can get more super weapons. However securing the alien ship will be great for our tech development.
>>

>>
>>1544782

You worry as you wonder what became of them, and consider planning an assault of your own to rescue them, when one of the screen's flashes back.

It's ARES. She seems to be coming too, you pay close attention to what's happening. You see her turning to her arms and legs, all bound by glowing energy as she's strapped to a table, a bright light streaming down.

It's then she turns and see's the same alien. As you take a closer look, you realize exactly why it's different. The other aliens have thin, scrawny lips that barely move when they speak. This one is smiling like a human. Ares lifts her head in defiance

>ARES
"I don't imagine you're going to offer me a safe word. I suggest you gag me before you rip me open, I'm a bit of a screamer."

It does something unexpected, it speaks.

>It
"I didn't convince the elder to let me have you just so I could tear you apart. I wanted to see how good human design was. Let's try the probe."

The screen goes fuzzy for a bit, and you hear ARES scream. . .or groan?

>It
"So vocal, so responsive. Reacts just like the real thing, too bad you're made of metal. This would be so enjoyable"

>ARES
"I have to admit, I am not averse to continued. . .experimentation. But I have an owner who is going to miss me."

>It
"And I don't care.. Those knuckleheads, all the others, all they care about is vivisections and bioweapons. No appreciation for the subtley joys. But then without them, I guess I wouldn't be here and they wouldn't have their weapon."

>ARES
"What weapon?"

>It
"Me you dumb whore. That's right, I'm their best weapon yet, and the only thing between them and annihilation by the humans."

>ARES
"And what makes you so special, apart from your appreciation for cuffs and chains."

>It
"Funny thing really. See, they tried putting our DNA into humans, but that resulted in abominations too stupid and hostile to be of use to anyone. Didn't want to do the reverse because it hurt their little feelings to disgrace their genes with filthy human ones. But after the crash and then the death of their precious captain, they took some DNA from the one that killed him. They made me.

And now I can see for all their talk of humans being inferior savages, that's exactly the problem. They have all these weapons, technology, advantages, and twice they let a single human march right in and kill the commander in his own seat. And you want to know why?"

>ARES
"If I say yes, will you stop talking and go back to probing."

>It
"Because in they've never needed to fight for survival for millenia. Their bodies are no longer adapted to it. They rely so much on their technological superiority that tactical knowledge utterly eludes them.

And that's where I come in. I don't know whoever it was they took those human genes from, but whoever they were, they were damn smart. And now I am too."
>>
>>1544786
I know and I will miss him if he is dead. However we can get him from the divide as well.

>>1544787
True but it balances out the 1 and creates an...alternate series of events...

>>
>>1544788
This poses an interesting problem. If humans no longer have to fight for survival, they will eventually start to decline. Thus, fighting for survival, survival of the fittest, is an absolute necessity for any society.

A perfect meritocracy where the weak are culled. The question isn't whether it will have long-term benefits, it's how to do such a thing humanely. Further evolution along its natural path in its natural way, with things like FEV, cybernetics, and replicator tech serving as supplements to the process, not crutches that lead humans further into the depths of neoteny-ism.

Someone make a sticky note for this. I want to pursue this line of thought later, when the immediate crisis is dealt with.
>>
>>1544800

>>1544825

>>
>>1544788
>ARES
"If you're so smart, why aren't you their leader?"

>It
"Problem with being a freak of nature, lady. Everyone needs you but nobody actually trusts you. If I wanted to I'd use force to make myself leader, I'd be the most deadliest thing they'd never see coming. But if I did I'd weaken them to the point the humans would just roll over us. Id have killed all my allies and be surrounded by people that want to kill me.

And besides, if I keep working for these guys, I get all the lovely little test subjects and booze I want. Not as much these days, and never as much as I want, but I make do. Seems all this human DNA has unlocked a number of desires. I love to fight, but after a good damn fight, I got some needs. As long as they keep my needs met, I'll do the killing and fighting for them. I get my fun, they get their hero"

---

You consider you might be able to speak through ARES. Or at least, tell her what to say.

>What do?
>>
>>1544820
Eh. There will always be conflict. As we rise to the stars we will meet our klingons and romulans and dominion.
The average man would bot be able to fight, but as a people we wont be complacent
>>
>>1544831
"DID YOU HURT MY ED-E?"
>>
>>1544837
>ARES
"Where are the others?"

>It
"The one's who were different from those missile bots of yours yeah? Oh, I have them here some where. Do you care about them? Too bad, they're mine to do with as I want.

That skeletal robot one of yours, so boring. I wonder if I could build a copy of your body and put her brain in it. That would be fun, see how she reacts to my special touch."
>>
>>1544826
We can get your roboi back. We can repair him. We can improve him.

We have the technology.

>>1544830
About as intrusive.

Essentially we enforce genetic standards for mass reproduction on the population: anything greater than 2-3 children requires good genetics, exceptional intelligence, physical aptitude, charisma or wealth. This will also encourage investing in what children you have rather than having more.

Then we remove genetic imperfections and replace them with genuinely superior versions by retrovirus and other methods. Stronger muscles from other species, night vision, water-breathing, chemical resistance, Unity's abilities like communal thought - assuming we can make it optional and such.

>>1544831

To be frank that makes you better than about 30% of people we deal with. Plus, you seem like you'd be a great laugh to have round for a party or something.

Also I would point out if we really wanted to eliminate your people we could. It's just not worth the resources if we can avoid it and by keeping you alive and on our side, we can possibly even get your people to help us. At least until they think they can eliminate us or escape by making another ship or something.

My current plan is to go a recruiting run of the outside world for more people. We can pickup some whores and shit for him as we go. Failing that we raid the Legion held lands and free as many as we can. Given time we can find someone willing, self-sacrificing or someone desperate enough.

Strange how you seemingly work off of a binary moral system of: okay and LEGION!

>You can't guarantee we will find someone willing to fuck him and he might not even like the girls we offer.
Trust me. I can guarantee we can find someone willing to fuck him: drug addicts, loyalists, perverts and others will be willing if we explain the situation or pay them well enough.

As to him not liking them, I'd point out we / he can change their appearance as much as he wants. So he won't tire as quickly and our effective supply rises greatly.

>This is a shit deal, the SHITTIEST deal.

You've got some kind of command center going on, I can tell because you got officers walking in and out of it. Always cleaner, better fed, good looking. I've picked out two of them I'd want, the smart one or the pretty one.

Give me one of them, after that promise me you'll just give me good looking ones now and again, and all the comforts I want plus I want a part of the ship to myself. Guarantee all these things and my saftey, and I'll fight for you. The others on this ship are a bunch of boring dorks anyway. I'll even lend you some of my knowledge."

>Strange how you seemingly work off of a binary moral system of: okay and LEGION!
>Implying giving him females to maintain his loyalty=/=Legion men buying captured females as wives/pleasure slaves.
I dunno Bob, looks pretty similar to me.
>Trust me. I can guarantee we can find someone willing to fuck him: drug addicts, loyalists, perverts and others will be willing if we explain the situation or pay them well enough.
You know what, fine, let's see you get those women. This anon has a point anyway >>1544996
>>
>>1545000
Hahah. Take the whore chuckles.
>>
>>1545000
For fucks sake. This is impossible.
>>
>>1545004
He's showing a map of the ship and which parts he wants. Relatively speaking its not a lot. Its the surgical room, one of the freezer storage compartments, and the remaining fighter hanger. This is about less than 10% of the ship.
>>
>>1545007
Why does he want the freezer storage compartment?
>>
>>1545011
To freeze the used women. Pay attention.
>>
>>1545011
He keeps his old toys in there.

I suggest we lead a raid to take everything in that compartment.
>>
>>1545011
"It's where I store specimens when I'm not using them or bored, then I wait until I'm not bored of them to use em again."
>>
>>1545013
I know and i was hoping he would stop that.
>>1545015
I support raid if we kill him too.
>>
>>1544997
>Eh. The other women in Unity are kinda flesh monsters.
Plastic surgery!

>Though maybe we fly to new reno and pick up a ho who wants to. Like that movie where the lady was paid to be a girlfriend.
Yeah something like that.

>>1545000
"Those would be the leader's closest friends, advisers and companions, in both a sexual and non-sexual sense.

He might be willing to allow you to bed them if they are but possession of them isn't an option or something advisable. Given they are both warriors and present a potential threat to you.

Assuming you don't plan on freezing them or keeping them for too long they might be willing...especially if they can come and go over the course of a few sessions so to speak."

>>1545001
>Implying giving him females to maintain his loyalty=/=Legion men buying captured females as wives/pleasure slaves.
That is what I am implying and what you are saying is incorrect. Seeing as these women have a choice.

>You know what, fine, let's see you get those women. This anon has a point anyway >>1544996
I can get those women, seeing as most slaves of the Legion would suck the dick of a deathclaw to get freedom.
>>
>>1545023
Are you gonna ask Willow or Delilah if they want to bed the alien anon?
>>
>>1545025
Of course and when they say no I go with plan B.

Extensive plastic surgery onto whomever we can find that is willing.
>>
>>1545029
And if the alien finds out you switched them with a fake?
>>
>>1545025
Why not?
>"So, hypothetically, would you be interested in fucking a particularly kinky alien? He's an asshole, in a charming sort of way, but he's also not human. Well...mostly not human. Does have some human DNA. Anyways, does that in any way, shape, or form sound appealing?"
>>
>>1545031
We kill him with extreme prejudice

"Possession's the only 'option' I'm offering. You wanna buy me as a merc, then you gotta pay up. The elders here do."

For some reason, you don't know why, but that sounds exactly like something you would say. In fact, his voice is oddly familiar.

"But I see your point, and that's exactly why I want em. I want to know your leader is willing to give up something close for this too, so I know you mean what you say.

But I'll make this easier on you. Your leader likes to hand over those little cotton toys and pencils and candy to the blonde haired one, and she hugs him back. That must be his mate, the other one he doesn't touch him much at all. Probably one of your medical crew from the way she dresses. The smart ones are always the most fun to break in.

Give me that one, and the other things I asked. I'm aware of your human concept of haggling."
>>
>>1545035
>"Possession's the only 'option' I'm offering. You wanna buy me as a merc, then you gotta pay up. The elders here do."
Welp, time to kill him.
And don't even think of using a fake, he's a smart one he'll find out.
>>
>>1545035
Thats not haggling thats laying terms then dropping more terms on top. At first it was pretty women, booze and free time. Now you also want a specific woman on top of all that.
If thats negotiating, you need to take another look at a dictionary
>>
>>1545038
Agreed, those demands are unacceptable
>>
>>1545035
"Actually they are all his mates. He is a...productive individual.

Also, our people need medical assistance greatly as we are having problems thanks to this being our people still setting up our society and disease outbreaks are occurring.

We can offer you someone who looks exactly like the attractive one thanks to advanced appearance altering technology we have.

Also, I feel I should point out that our leader is the one who lead the attack on your craft and killed your captain. Chances are it's his genetics you are infused with, he specifically wants to save you because you are something along the lines of a son to him."
>>
>>1545045
>Also, I feel I should point out that our leader is the one who lead the attack on your craft and killed your captain. Chances are it's his genetics you are infused with, he specifically wants to save you because you are something along the lines of a son to him."
This is just too much.
>>
>>1545051
Hey. It is true and it explains why we want him alive.
>>
>>1545052
But i don't care if he's our son, the guy hurt ED-E and is a bonafide ass.
>>
>>1545042
"I'm more aware of diplomacy than you realize. For example, I'm aware you said there's a pressing threat you need to deal with, and I imagine your recent foray to our armory is an attempt to gather our technology. So that must be what you are after. I'm also aware I have five of your companions, which you don't see as expendable due to your asking for them. I counted no more than 600 or so of your missile robots, I've just destroyed 100 of them and now I have perfect samples for their blueprints.

I've been watching you, it doesn't look like you can sustain any more losses of them either, especially if what you want is another asset to fight this threat of yours.

If I'm not worth the price of one woman up front and one every couple of months, I'm getting a clear picture of where I should stand."

>>1545045
"Ha, so that explains it. I should have known whoever they spliced me from had a similar taste in human women, and would be your leader.

Meh, you've got what, at least 20 or so medics plus I've seen those white medical robots of yours running around as well. But perhaps its at least a show of your willingness to learn proper medical treatment, the zetan's just pour their biogel on everything to make it go away."
>>
>>1545051
We dont though. Not really. Too expensive.
>>
>>1545035
"If we had an entire species-spanning civilization, this would be an easy request to fulfill. You're asking for vital members in a community that numbers in the low hundreds. Not to say we won't present the idea to them, especially if you can assure us they'll have time to commit to their other duties, but some things are just impractical to consider."
>>
>>1545058
you make the hardest moral quandries, FalloutQM.

I love this quest.
>>
>>1545062
It's not even a moral quandary, NO is the obvious answer.
>>
>>1545062
You guys did roll a 1 and a 100, so I had to offer an outlet to make an absolute loss salvagable somehow and get what you are after, for a price. Otherwise this would have been a terrible disaster for you
>>
>>1545058
"We can't replenish our numbers easily in regards to highly trained, skilled or educated individuals. Which all these people are or are being made into if they aren't already. We can present the option to the attractive one but that is the best we can do for you.

Also, I would point out that your people can't sustain any more losses either. We both will be too weak after eliminating the other to really consider it a victory."
>>
>>1545066
So the 1 was it was a disaster, and the 100 was we pay to succed our original goals? That doesnt seem very equitable
>>
>>1545069
Six companions (those in the ship + the new guy) at the loss of Willow or Delilah.

The answer is Yes.

"Or how about I show you how to use one of our biogel healing machines. That's definitely worth one of your medical crew, if not more.

Hell I'd have a hard time maintaining my specimens now without one."

>>1545070
It's never equitable.

Everything has a price, good and bad.
>>
>>1545071
Or we could attack the guy and get the six companions back+not lose Willow or Delilah.
>>
>>1545074
He's us with Mind Control powers and technological superiority AND homefield advantage.

I mean, we've done some impossible odds before, and if Ulysses or joshua were here I'd say go for it, alongside us and Riddick.

But we won't win that fight as we are.
>>
>>1545073
"Look, I understand your point of view.

On the other hand, we really can't. Our people wouldn't approve of such a decision unless it was taken willingly by the individuals involved or it was a outsider.

I can ask but I can't force them."
>>
>>1545082
The guy is the only thing holding the aliens together look at >>1544740
We were doing good until he showed up, just take him down and the rest will be easy.
>>
>>1545073
I vote yes. Anyone else?
>>
>>1545086
...what if we changed our appearance to that of our companion and went in and defeated / captured him?
>>
>>1545083
"That's a lie and you know it.

In between the mechanical force to force your people, I suspect from some of the wastelanders I have now that the average person doesn't even care when someone just dissapears. What's the phrase 'glad it wasn't me' or 'more food for me' or something like that.
>>
>>1545090
OH SHIT ANON THAT'S GENIUS!
>>
>>1545090
What if we seduce him and make him our sex slave
>>
>>1545090
>>1545093
Remember what happened last time anons thought they could just 'Go in and win' against a superior foe in their own house?

It's Elijah all over again.
>>
>>1545090
That's actually very clever I'm impressed. You'd need to spend actions to upgrade the Auto-Doc to change genders, even superficially though, and you don't think the alien will permit a delay.
>>
>>1545088
I vote yeah, at the very least we can ask her.

>>1545091
"You assume I am willing to enforce such a decision by military action on my own people. I am sickened by your suggestion that the average person is so self-centred and lacking of empathy.

However, I suppose your people seemingly act in such a way that it may seem like that style of control is logical to you. I can't exactly blame you for thinking I would do so.

I...I will consider this issue and return soon."

>>1545093
I have my moments.
>>
>>1545097
Hey remember when Elijah was a genocidal madman? And a stubborn man that wouldn't compromise his beliefs meaning that eventually we would go to war with him?
>>
>>1545098
Aw fuck.
>>
>>1545102
Well to be fair you did convince him to compromise on his idea that the Mojave should just be purged and instead that the people could live and be put to use. So trying to convince him to change his beliefs wasn't a total failure.
>>
>>1545105
I take full credit for that accomplishment, by the way. Nobody wanted to give him the time of day even though he made some really good points.
>>
>>1545105
I was talking more about the BoS thing, if i recall correctly he still wanted technology in the hands of a few, a really tiny few.
>>
>>1545108
Don't you also remember QM said Elijah would never work under anyone? We can't have 2 empires in the Mojave.
>>
>>1545113
True, but you could have had one empire with two leaders.

Admittedly, I'd have had to call the quest Empire of Two if you unified with him.

>>1545110
"Tiny" as a matter of perspective really, the brotherhood for example could be a fairly large institution.
>>
>>1545098
See you say that but

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Auto-Doc_Upgrade:_Cosmetic_Enhancements

Is something we should already have from completing the DLC's. It allows you to change genders if I remember.

As to getting the time for the auto-doc to perform the surgery, just say that she is saying her final goodbyes / having a going away party.

>>1545108
Like hell you can. A large portion of that was me.

>>1545113
He said he would constantly test the leadership / abilities of his superiors to see if they are actually superior.
>>
>>1545113
He doesn't HAVE to work under anyone. We probably could have made him compromise on the idea of technology as well, then it'd just be his rigid control fetish. Which is actually a GOOD trait for certain kinds of governments, like the one we're trying to build. Brain even said his vision for the future was compatible with ours!
>>
>>1545115
>It allows you to change genders if I remember.
Unfortunately not, I checked after upgrading the Auto-Doc.

You can change appearance but not gender.
>>
>>1545114
>He said he would constantly test the leadership / abilities of his superiors to see if they are actually superior.
>>1523939
>You don't believe for a moment he would ever work 'under' someone though.
It ain't a test, he would be trying to usurp and take over.
>>
>>1545114
>>1545117
I do not want an empire with two or more leaders unless it's with Ulysses and Joshua.
Elijah doesn't have the style to roll with the cool boys.
>>
>>1545121
Well yeah, he would never work under someone. But the DLC ending did show he was perfectly capable of working alongside someone. Elijah would never play a subordinate.

It is interesting to hear that you guys would be willing to be subordinate to Ulysses or Joshua though. But they don't seem the leader type and even Joshua isn't fond of logistical condundrums. Well, neither is Legate Lanius.
