There are only two nations left on this planet of constant war; Dystopia and Utopia. The nation the story is set in so far is Dystopia.Dystopia is a vibrant and varied nation, with a completely decentralized government. The constitution of Dystopia is a single line of text: YOU ARE THE GOVERNMENT. From this there has sprung up individual societies which range from liberal democratic city states to total anarchist wastelands. They have only one thing that unites them, nationalism, and the need for survival against the constant war being waged on them by Utopia.Utopia can be summed up as essentially: fully automated luxury communism that still manages to be completely totalitarian.Utopia was born when in this timeline, the United States was subverted into communism after WWI.Japan was converted to communism by joint American and Soviet pressures.Germany has the time to develop the nuclear bomb in WWII because America does not join the war until Germany drops an A-bomb on Stalingrad. All communist nations of the world became a super-state after WWII, forcing the losers to join them. They called it Utopia.Eventually, America has a civil war and the rest of the worlds non-communist countries join them, ironically adopting the name Dystopia, the constitution allowed the countries to essentially keep their sovereignty.Eventually the freedom got out of control and the nation became mostly anarcho-capitalist, with pretty much every government form also being represented. With exception of communism, as their neighbor nations would rise up and destroy them. The 'civil war' has been going on for over two-thousand years, and tech has been stagnant for over a thousand of that. War has become so normalized that most people couldn't imagine peace on a grand scale. The micro-nation we live in is the Dystopian Moon Colony, which controls about half of the moon, though is really several thousand smaller nations all under one banner. The moon is seen as a deciding factor in the war as the moon is the key to affordable space travel, colonizing other planets from earth, and achieving "space superiority". This it is a hotly contested place. The colony is heavily supplied by patriotic Dystopians from around the world because of this. The city we live in is on the border of the no-mans-land between Dystopia and Utopia. The city is a mega-structure dome built over a large crater. The dome is filled with enormous skyscraper-like buildings which are each like a self-contained city. Various levels, or groups of levels, contain many micro-nations.The buildings are connected by thousands of individual hyper-rail companies who range from a single tower-to-tower connection to entangling themselves throughout the whole city.We live in one of these buildings, towards the middle.

You didn’t get involved, but instead caught the train home. You and your friend Claire (who is also your assistant) finally arrived at your building. You had hoped to relax with a delicious meal at your friend Glens restaurant. But your world became even more chaotic soon after. While eating, a huge explosion knocked over your entire building. Arming yourself with a fire ax and a meat cleaver, you, Clair, and Glen all entered the hellscape outside. Claire was armed with her handgun. You made a plan, to get to the place of your employment: The Firm.Your luck began to look up when you found an occupied elevator. Claire hacked it open with her tablet. But the luck didn’t hold. The occupant was armed with a carbine, and tried to mug you for the eighth time that week.A fight ensued, and a gunshot broke some of your ribs through your bulletproof vest. Worse, a bullet lodged in your shoulder. You threw the cleaver into the man’s arm, but it wasn’t enough and you were smacked in the head by butt of his gun right afterwards. You lost consciousness as you saw Glen come in with a tackle. Glen saved you by tackling the man, but got the cleaver lodged in his own arm during the struggle. You still wanted to get to The Firm, in part now because of its medical facilities, but with injuries there was no way you would make it on foot. Claire looked through maps of the building and found an emergency room. After you promised to buy Glen a new arm later, the three of you left the man in the locked elevator.Claire hacked open the back panel of the elevator and you all walked ‘up’ the elevator shaft on foot. The smell of gas forced you to make a quick escape through a side door. The three of you reached safety, but you had to leave a catatonic Glen behind. You and Claire eventually reached the emergency room, but found that it was guarded by a two-meter-tall android. The android demanded to have Claire’s tablet, and gave you two minutes to comply. You decided to hack the android, but it proved to be no easy task.Wounded and exhausted you distracted the android with everything you had, and nearly lost your life for doing so.But in the end Claire’s hacking skills won out, and you were spared a violent death.
>>1505838You awake in in darkness, freezing. You must have passed out after the fight with that android.Your upper body is covered with a pile of ice. You struggle to sit up, and force your sore body to do so. Your ribs ache and you assume some are broken, but manage to right yourself. Some of the ice falls to the floor in the process, but once you are upright, the lights flicker on. You find yourself sitting on a surgical table that’s wet from melted ice. You clothing has been removed from the waist up and feel bandages on your wounded shoulder. You see a message written on the wall in marker. “Go to mech bay”You plop down from your perch on the table and do as the message says. You enter the hallway and it lights up as well. A short walk down it rewards you with a map of the complex, and after finding the mechanical bay you go back the way you came. You reach it after a short walk and the doors slide open to allow you entrance. Inside you are greeted by the sight of the android who earlier tried to kill you. It sits in a repair module, thin robotic arms making repairs to its various broken parts.“This one has been instructed to relay a message. The message is as follows: Claire has left to collect Glen and will return shortly. This one has contacted her to tell her of your awakening. How may this one be of assistance?”“So, are you like an A.I. or a robot, or what?”“Query is nonsensical. This one is a limited artificial intelligence, as well as a robotic.”“I see. How long has Claire been gone? How long until she returns. Can I speak with her?”“She has been gone for twelve minutes, thirty-four seconds, 15 milliseconds. Return unknown, variable of Glens collection prevents extrapolation of data. This one is capable of transmitting real time communication.”“Command: begin real time communication with Claire.” The android’s eye flashes purple for a brief moment and you take a step back.“Command registered. Opening line.”Claire’s voice comes from the android. “Mike! I’m so glad you woke up. I was so worried about you. I’m almost at the spot we left Glen.”“You’re the best Claire, I’ll wait here for you.”“Talk to you when I get back. What’s your situation, you need us to send a helo your way?”“No, I will have transportation shortly. Claire is coming around with our new medical emergency lift, long story, and I need the med bay prepped for myself and my friend Glen. He saved my life but took a meat cleaver to the arm for it.”“Ouch! Glad that he did, though, glad he did. Wait a minute, what’s wrong with you?”“Two shots. Chest, broken ribs. Shoulder, bullet wound. Glen likely will need amputation. Please warn the medical staff.” You here some muffled talking after you finish.“I sent Linda to tell them. Anything else we should be made aware of before you arrive here in ‘your’ new med lift?”“We also might have also commandeered a security droid and hacked into the system to do so.” Silence over the line. You bite a fingernail.“You did what?”“I said we hacked into the system and stole security droid.”“That’s what I thought you said. What are we going to do with you?”“Well, I mean, I am the government.”“That’s true. Just get back here in one piece and we will talk about it after you get out of surgery.”“Communications have been ended. You have taken such great lengths to address this one in the manner you seem properly. This one desires to know if you prefer the designation of Michael or Mike from this one.”>Michael.>Mike“Know where I can find a shirt around here?”“This one does not.”You sit in silence for a few minutes before the hanger of the bay opens, and a sleek med lift glides through the opening.“Mike, get in on the other side!” Claire shouts from the driver’s seat.“This one has completed all repairs this facility is capable of completing. Will this one be joining you?”“I’ll have Claire open the back.”>Get in the back with the android and Glen.>Sit shotgun next to Claire.

Can you please just pop the back open for me?”“Sure. There was universal donner blood that I found in the back and I gave Glen a transfusion. He’s conscious but weak.”“Thanks Claire, for everything.” She just smiles and presses the button which opens the back. The med life wobbles in the air slightly as Jinx’s heavy metal body climbs in.You walk around to the back and Jinx helps you climb up into it. “Glen, how you feel?”“Not so great. Why is there a security droid next to you?”“This is Jinx. A major step towards my lifelong plan of having my own personal murder-robo-maid.”“Am I dreaming right now?” “I sure hope not.”The doors swing shut on mechanical hinges and you feel the med lift rise. You feel the acceleration as Claire skillfully weaves it through the ruined halls of the building.“You guys really did come back for me then.” He begins to sob, taking deep wheezing breaths in between incomprehensible speech.“What are friends for, right?” The two of you share a laugh at the inside joke.A bit later, after some quiet he speaks up again. “How did you even get a droid on your side? Shouldn’t it be trying to take this med lift back to its owner?”“Its name is Jinx.”“I’m not calling it that. Answer the question.”“I distracted it and Claire hacked it. We couldn’t have gotten past it otherwise.”“That’s crazy. No one can hack a droid.”“Claire did.”He falls asleep soon after and you spend the rest of the trip talking with Jinx.“So, who is your owner?”“My owner is Claire of Building K-128 floor 16.” Damn, she really did make it hers.“What level of control do I have over you.”“You have been granted full command permissions for, and administrative controls to, this one and this one’s programming.” At least she gave you that much.“How strong of an A.I. are you?”“This one is a limited A.I. capable of simulated emotional states and problem solving.”You chew on this information while waiting to arrive at The Firm. You’re wheeled across the wall-turned-floor and catch Hendrik waving before the doors close on the room you had left. You didn’t get a chance to talk with him or Claire, but injuries come first. The room you’re brought into is surrounded by a temporary medical tent; blue transparent plastic sheets held together with tape. There’s no one here with you besides the nurse. “There is a doctor, right?”“She’s checking on your friend right now, he was deemed more critical.” She places the gurney under the hanging form of a full body scanner, a thick plate of metal and glass. She places goggles over your eyes that darken the room to blackness. “We’ll be doing a scan now.” A thin line of light invades your vision and moves slowly downwards. It’s not your first time getting a full body scan but the experience is still unsettling and tingly. After a few minutes, it’s over and you sigh in relief. Then you feel the anesthetic mask. You awake with the goggles still on. “We’ve cleaned you up and disinfected, the doctor was in to check on you. It looks pretty bad in both injury sites, worse than it seemed by far.”“That’s not what I want to hear, Doc.”“It’s still just me the nurse here, doctor Ka-“ You interrupt her.“I know, I know, just tell me the bad news.” She removes the googles and you can see again, she holds up an illuminated X-ray of your upper body.“You have three fractures, here, here and here, but more importantly, this rib, here,” She points them out to you on the X-ray and the last rib she pointed at is much worse than the others, “right where you were shot, has broken off. >>1509539Well tech in this setting has reached a standstill 1k years after modern time, and has been that way another 1k years. The bionics could be whatever you want in reason. It could be a bionic organ medical aid that produces its own stimulants and can release them into your bloodstream when fight or flight is activated. It could be something that produces a magnetic field that will repel ferromagnetic bullets. It could be a one shot EMP that you activate by thought, that will destroy your other implants but could save you from a life or death situation.Anything people want really as long as its not on the softer side of Sci-fi. Like this setting has no exotic matter with anti-gravity or pressure, no FTL travel, no nano-machines, no matter conversion of heavier elements.Rule of cool applies.

A lot of the time she feigns annoyance for fun but she’s very good at acting.“So, you really are a pervert then.”“That’s a bit harsh don’t you think?”“I had my suspicions of course, but I was starting to wonder since you never made a move at me all these years. Guess I should have worn more chrome.”“Oh, clever idea, try that.” She just laughs and punches your good arm, but not very hard. You arrive at the tech bay and see what you assume to be Jinx waiting outside of it. Jinx now has more of an hour glass shaped body, and feminine curves in the right places. As you approach it turns its head and you see blue eyes staring at the two of you through a soft featured mask of white porcelain.“You gave it hair.”“That I did.”“For what purpose.”“I’m humanizing it. Call it Jinx.”“Fine, if it’ll make you happy. Follow me Jinx.”“This one will follow you.” Jinx walks now with a more elegant stride, the commercial model shell effecting its programming to valuing aesthetics rather than pure utility. It follows the two of you as you turn back the way you came.Cont.
>>1514939“We need to get some things before leaving.” You all return to the hangar you arrived in and find that various necessary items have been laid out for you and Claire. Formal clothing, pristine suits are laid out for both of you in front of a dressing room. Clair goes to change first. You see you have disposable phone among what has been left for you, as well as a certification card. The card proclaims you to be head of the accounting branch at The Firm and you are taken aback by the promotion until you spot the handwritten note from Hendrik that was left underneath it. ‘Temporary. You will get more business this way. Do an excellent job and we might even decide to make it permanent’. Can’t win them all.You reach the location where weapons are laid out for you and you have a variety to choose from. Some of these items you wouldn’t want to be caught in possession of with the peacemakers around. But they’re gone, right?>Take military grade concealable weapons. (Ordinance against them, but these are dangerous times.)>Take conventional weapons. (Open carry.)>Take conventional weapons. (Concealed carry.)>Go unarmed, we have Jinx now.(If you have weapon suggestions go ahead, otherwise I’ll just give you some stuff that fits the winning vote.)
>>1514944>Take conventional weapons. (Open carry.)Large caliber revolver and a concealable baton. Also, can we get some clothes for Jinx? A business suit with skirt and some heels would be good. Make her look professional and stuff.
>>1515009The commercial body comes equipped with a hologram projector that can project clothing. But high heels would damage flooring.
>>1515052>But high heels would damage flooring.Speaking of damaging things, what does Jinx have installed in her person? Both physically, like hidden blades and guns, or as software, like stuff to help with aiming guns and targeting reticles. Also, knife heels sound great.
>>1515091>what does Jinx have installed in her person? For incapacitating people, only tasers in the fingertips. Otherwise it fights like the Exterminators from Blame! using its hands almost as claws and can also kick.Other things can be purchased and added later if people want.
>>1514944>Take conventional weapons. (Open carry.)>Take conventional weapons. (Concealed carry.)The revolver and the baton on the open carry side, a holdout automatic pistol for concealed, wouldn't want to be caught unprepared
>>1515136>Otherwise it fights like the Exterminators from Blame!...Any chance of a Gravitron Beam Emitter lying around?
>>1514944Claire finishes changing and you do the same. You return to the weapons and, after some debate with yourself over what to take, you settle on the largest handgun on the table. “So, you ready to make some money, Claire?”“Always ready for that.” She slides a new cartridge into her pistol, and you can’t 6 spares hanging from her gun belt as she slips it into the holster.“Alright. Can you take Jinx to the transport? I’ll meet you there in a second.” Jinx follows her to the armored mag-lift that Hendrik has lent you.The handgun you chose is a revolver, six pounds of metal with a barrel longer than your head. You strap its belt around your waist under your jacket. It’s a five-shot revolver and the belt has space for two spare cylinders full of ammo, as well as 15 more bullets. You also slide a telescoping baton through a loop in the belt, opposite the revolver. They both stick out past your jacket around the same length. Just in case thirty bullets prove to not be enough, you slip a machine pistol into the holster sewed into your shirt bellow your healing shoulder; you should be able to reach it quickly with your good arm. You enter the lift sit near Claire. The layout of the vehicle has the inside function as a windowless room, with the pilot’s controls stand in the center of it for maximum survivability. It also serves as an office or negotiating room by expanding or collapsing modules. Claire stands in front of the controls familiarizing herself with them. Jinx stands nearby.“Jinx cycle through clothing holos for outfit type business professional.” Assorted styles of suits cover Jinx for around a second at a time before changing.“Seriously, you’re making it play dress up now?” Claire doesn’t look up from the controls.“It’s a standard feature for commercial models, might as well use it right?”“Sure, have fun.” She seems to have figured out a route out of the building and takes off. After a while of going through only pantsuits you’re about to give more specific criteria when finally Jinx shows you a business suit top that’s paired with a professional looking skirt. “Stop there. Maintain that outfit.”“This one will do as requested.”“We’ve reached the outside, you want me to turn the view on?” The ride gets much smoother as she no longer needs to fly detours and over obstacles to leave the still deteriorating building.“Sure, thanks.”Cont.>>1515305Only time will tell.
>>1515427The walls of the room display a panoramic view of what’s outside the armored vehicle, and you see the devastation that has been wrought upon your building. Beyond that as it fell the building destroyed all the hyper-rails in its path. Consequently, far more air traffic than usual zips around the affected area. You are soon approaching the capital building, the largest and tallest of all the buildings. It sits in the middle of the spherical area created by the dome above and the crater below. It doesn’t touch the dome directly, but a spider web of hyper-rail lines spread out from it to the dome inner wall rail system.“I’ve never actually been to the capital building.” You admit to Claire.“Me either. But I’ve heard all the stories.”“I’m sure nothing will go wrong.”You choose a floor to dock on, and hope to find some clients there, at a time like this an accountant can be valuable anywhere they go.>Human capital floor. (Easy difficulty.)>Physical capital floor. (Medium difficult.)>Intellectual capital floor (Hard difficulty.)>Financial capital floor. (Insane difficulty.)(Difficulty scales with potential reward and risk.)
>>1515429>Physical capital floor. (Medium difficulty.)>Tease Claire about being jealous of a robot.>Get teased back about digging robot girls.
>>1515429You dock at the physical capital ground floor and all of you leave the vehicle. The platform swarms with the bustle of people, and your group joins the queue to enter the building. “Doesn’t Jinx look cute in that outfit?”“Sure, a bit much with the skirt, but sure.”You feign shock. “Wait, you’re not jealous of an android are you, Claire?”“Me, jealous? Of your new robot girlfriend? Or rather, what was it Glen said again back there?” She pauses for effect. “Robot maid murderer, right?”“I can’t seem to recall that conversation actually.” You stroke your short well-kempt beard pensively. You continue like this until you finally reach the front of the line. You step ahead of your group to approach the security droids guarding the doorway.“State your business or show identification, sir.”You remove your certification card and the drone who spoke to you quickly scans it.“Thank you for your compliance Michael of The Firm. This one has charged your company with the 10,000 physical-credit entry fee. Please conduct your business safely.”And just like that you’re in. If the platform outside seemed busy, then by comparison the inside of the building is chaos. Security droids run around from fight to fight trying to prevent violence but failing badly to make a major impact upon the hundreds of brawls that have broken, and continue to break, out. The echoing sounds of androids vocally stating they’re 're-prioritizing' follows every other gunshot.“Stick together, we need to reach the elevator and get to the next floor. This is madness down here.” You don’t like this at all and are happy that your suit is fully bulletproof and that you brought Jinx.“Couldn’t we just find somewhere safer on this floor, there’s no telling what the higher floors are like.” Claire seems less at ease than usual, but neither of you are panicking, you’ve both been through worse.“I’d really like to conduct actual business if possible.”>Have Jinx walk ahead to clear a path to the elevator.>Look for somewhere safe on this floor.>Try to talk with anyone nearby who looks reasonable and isn’t fighting.>Write in.

>>1515561The situation you’ve found yourself in is a serious matter and you take the most serious measure you can think of over the cacophony around you. “Command: Jinx defend us if necessary; parameters for necessary use judgement.”“Command registered.” The android’s eyes begin to glow red behind the mask, it takes a more combat ready pose, aesthetics no longer important. “Mike, we need to find somewhere safe, we’ll never make it to an elevator like this.” Claire is surveying the area but doesn’t dare pull her weapon. You follow her example and spot a group of four men ringed by their own androids.“Over there, lets group of with them, they seem like their looking for a way out too.”“No arguments here, I’ll take the rear. Jinx take point.” The three of you begin to advance towards the men who now press themselves up against a wall and move along it towards the other side of the room.“Your glad she’s with us now aren’t you.”“I was never not glad. That’s -my- android you’re talking about. You also just called it a she.” Damn, that wasn’t even intentional. Your slipping up Michael.“This is a high stress situation, don’t judge me. Jinx transmit friendly intentions on our part to those men’s droids.”“This one had done so.”You reach the men and they allow you and Claire to enter their now semicircle of drones, your back now pressed against the wall as well, with Jinx taking up place near the other droids.“Do you know if there’s safety on the other side!” One of the men shouts at you.“No idea, but we still need to try to get there!” You shout back.“Grenade!” One of the men shouts in terror. You see it too falling in a slow arc towards your position.“Defending!” Jinx leaps into the air spinning and kicks the grenade so hard you’re afraid for an instant it will explode mid-air from the impact. But instead it merely flies away, its detonation heard but not seen, and Jinx lands in a crunch of broken cement, unharmed.“Re-prioritizing.” “Re-prioritizing.” “Re-prioritizing.” The sound echoes and echoes. All the security droids within sight turn to face in Jinx’s direction; registering it, and by extension, your group, as the source of that grenade. The man next to you takes out a hidden weapon, military grade, a portable rail-gun. No, that’s a bad idea, stop. “You’ll only make it worse!” You scream at the top of your lungs. “I’m not dying here!” He aims it at a security droid.Roll 1d20 best of three.>Run, this guy has a death-wish.>Fight besides your new brother-in-arms.>Tell Jinx to run, then surrender to be taken for questioning.>Write in.(No tie breaker so I just merged.)

>>1515772This man is insane. He'll bring every damn droid on this floor right on top of you if you let him do as he wants. You won’t have this, any of it. You lash out with a kick and it connects soundly with the man’s knee just as he was preparing to fire the rail-gun. He's taken completely by surprise and crashes to the ground, weapon clattering out of his reach.“Run, he’s got mil-spec!” You, Claire, and Jinx all break off from the group, and the fallen man’s companions all flee in the opposite direction. You turn back just in time to see the man discharge his rail-gun with a deafening crack. The projectile is a line of light, visible for a fraction of a second, and a line of security droids is blown away, burning holes through their wherever it had passed through them. “Re-prioritizing” echoes once again. The last thing you catch before turning away is drone after drone jumping the man and forming a pile.>Head for an elevator.>Search for safety.>Look for friendlies.>Write in.

>>1515867You turn back just in time to see the man discharge his railgun with a deafening crack. The projectile is a line of light, visible for a fraction of a second, and a line of security droids is blown away, burning holes through them wherever it had passed through their bodies. “Re-prioritizing” echoes once again. The last thing you catch before turning away is drone after drone jumping the man and forming a pile.“We need off this floor! Claire can you find the closest elevator?”“I’ll try to be quick!” She pulls out her tablet so fast that for a second you think she will launch it out of her hands, but she maintains her grip and is soon flicking through a holo map. “Forward two-hundred meters, turn left and follow the wall for seventy-five meters!”A small group of around fifteen has started to gather around you, people picking up your conversation over their amplifiers. Amplifier implants are all networked, yours among them, and you’ve been hearing their conversations as well since entering the building. Now that you have some of your fellow amplifs around, you begin to put faces to the voices. The implant gives directional cues as to which amplif is transmitting what they hear, and assigns unique ping noises to the overheard conversations they have with their own groups. You decide it would be more trouble than it is worth to dissuade them from following you and instead continue your retreat plan with a new unwanted audience listening in. Though it would be simple to switch off your amplifiers transmission, it could just provoke an attack.“Alright, full speed ahead, take out whatever blocks our path!” You pull out your baton and unlock your revolvers holster. Claire replaces her tablet with her pistol.Your group, and the followers you’ve picked up, advance towards the elevator. You encounter the first brawl that cannot be bypassed after around fifty meters; three men fire on a woman behind cover, locking down her position. The men walk towards her cover, firing an occasional shot to prevent her from leaving cover to return fire.Cont.
>>1521259You run up from behind their position and smack the rear man hard across the back, as he falls you deliver a second swipe to his neck. He doesn’t have time to cry out, but one of his comrades turns to fire on you. Moments before he can take the shot, a hole appears through his head, one of Claire’s depleted uranium rounds. The third man has no chance to turn as he is shot multiple times by your group of followers before falling to the ground.“Thanks.” You speak normally; they’ll hear you. You get some polite replies and notice that the woman from before has joined in following your group. You continue unobstructed for another hundred meters before reaching the next obstacle. Two men with sub-machine guns and shields retreat from a pack of masked assailants wielding various weapons. You replace your baton and draw your revolver, taking aim. The gun is a comforting weight in your hands as you fire on the person leading the masked group. Their head explodes as the hollow point bullet impacts their skull, and soon after the rest of the group is mowed down by yours, Claire taking out two in quick succession. The fight was effortless, overkill even.Your followers now number around twenty, and the few hostile drones your group have gained the attention of are quickly taken care of with showers of bullets. Moral is high.Roll 1d20 best of 3.>Rally your group at the wall and push forward.>Turn diagonally and make a path through the remaining distance.>Try to ditch the group and access the elevator with your party only.>Write in.
Rolled 18 (1d20)>>1521270>Rally your group at the wall and push forward. If we get a second to breath we should bring up the Firm and offer our services as an Accountant
Rolled 1 (1d20)>>1521270>Rally your group at the wall and push forward.
>>1521321Damn man, tryn to kill us this early on
>>1521270“To the wall!” You shout so that Claire can hear you, the fighting beyond this point is intense.Your group is fired upon, a round luckily reflecting off your shoulders small magnetic shield, but unluckily finding its way into the head of the woman you had earlier saved. You sprint for cover, Claire and Jinx close behind, dive behind an upturned table. The pain in your shoulder and chest from straining your still healing body is worth the moment of perceived safety and clarity that the maneuver affords you.Looking back towards your group you see a few have been shot down, a few have reached their own cover, and the majority stands, firing. You quickly take a knee, Claire beside you, and go over your option. Cowardliness is not an option if you wish to maintain your support group and not have them flee.“Jinx, direct targeting laser at whoever just fired at me, maintain targeting of that group.”No sooner than the words leave your mouth, Jinxes eye becomes a beam of bright red light. Its head swivels, light beam landing on the chest of a man within a group of their own. Your group is now less disoriented and beings focusing fire, those behind cover leaving it to join in the desperate work. You too pop up from cover, emptying all five rounds of your revolver in the direction of now shifting light beam. Ducking down once more, you swap out the cylinder for a fresh one and repeat the action. The third cylinder finds no use, as by this time your group has taken out he enemy. But your victory is a Pyrrhic one.The group was less than half your size, but reduced your followers by more than half. Nine men and women remain, where before there were over twenty. “Regroup. Regroup. Get to the wall.” You speak evenly willing reassurance to those you hope to continue to follow. You finally reach the wall only to see that the direction you wish to go in is guarded by a person in power armor. They hold a security android high above their head, suspended by the droid’s neck. The neck snaps in a shower of sparks, and they throw the droid away like a piece of garbage. Upon seeing your larger sized group, he makes you an offer in a harsh warbling mechanical voice that cuts through the noise around you.“I’m in a good mood right now, normally I’d charge you 1k credits per head, but I’ll let you all through for 10k flat. How about it?” They flex making an unmaking a fist to the sound of whirling servos. The stragglers of your now battle worn group catch up as they finish speaking.Cont.
>>1521372“What kind of credit?” You pull out your handheld loudspeaker to talk, keeping your distance.“Finance-credit.” You regret asking. You analyze the situation. They are obviously powerful, but you have the numbers. They wouldn’t be offering you a ‘deal’ unless they were somewhat afraid. But you don’t know these people with you or if they are willing to face off against someone like this. The optimist in you feels like he could make these credits back off the group once your all in the safety and quiet of the elevator. You hear murmuring from your group, both requests for paying the fee and arguments for attacking the self-appointed wall guard. [You have 16,000 finance credits.] [1 finance credit = ~17 data credits]Roll 1d20 best of 3.>Pay the toll.>Attack them.>Offer 6,000 finance-credits instead.>Leave in search of a new elevator.>Write in.

Rolled 5 (1d20)>>1521428And here I thought I was safe...
>>1521377“I’ll pay six, firm.” You put as much false confidence as you can into your bargaining.“Sorry, pal. It’s ten or bust.” A brief note of mechanical laughter follows the counteroffer.“Fine I can do eight, be reasonable.”“Reasonable, you say. Reasonable.” They pause. “I can do reasonable.”You cautiously approach the person and remove your finance-credit card transferring 8,000 FCs their way. After confirmation of payment you move sprint past them, hoping they hold to the agreement.Everything seems to be going well and you group follows you past them, but once all of you have cleared them they extract the bargained cost. Two shots ring out from behind you, causing you to increase your pace. Your amp gives confirmation to what you hear; the they shot the last two of your group in the back to the sound of laughter. You all head full speed now, following the wall. You or someone in your group occasionally fire at someone blocking your path, pinned there. Hoping to not be fired upon; hoping to earn goodwill from whoever had them pinned. You make it to the elevator unmolested and pay 20 data-credits to open it. You and your party quickly enter while under fire, the group androids, including Jinx, form a protective wall and soak up projectiles. The doors close when the androids finally enter, but a final bullet slips between the crack of the closing doors, ricocheting off the elevator walls. The round rebounds twice before a Jinx catches it midair within its hand. “Defending.”You have seven left with you aside from Claire, with two other androids aside from Jinx. Amazingly no one left is wounded, if you neglect the cosmetic damage to the androids.>Demand repayment of their share of the 8,000 finance-credits. I lost my friends!”“Hold on! If we just band together I can make it up to you all.” You are cut out of the amp channel and the group begins to whisper. “Come on, I just dropped eight thousand finance credits to get us here, don’t be like this. Two women restrain Claire against her protests, and the two other droids do the same to Jinx. The remaining five jump you in a flurry of fists and shouts. Fighting will only make it worse, so you resign yourself to a beating. You try to take it stoically, but can’t help gasping in pain whenever your chest or shoulder is his. You’re eventually knocked to the ground where your torment only increases as they kick you repeatedly. You cover you balls and wait it out. Eventually the elevator reaches the next floor and opens. The women holding Claire toss her to the ground next to you before leaving with the rest of their group.
