/qst/ - Quests

War, war never changes.

You are the Courier, but you have changed. Once but long ago a nobody, now your name is known far and wide across the dunes and spoken of by the tongues of men. You are a man who rose from the dead, spoke to Ghosts and Emperors, met the Gods atop the mountain, and reshaped the Sierra Nevada as you saw fit.

But for all your accomplishments and deeds, the words of General Oliver still ring clear in your head.
>Do you know what your doing! Making a nation - like you think you're doing, ain't like chowing down on a pile of Fancy Lad Snack Cakes.

You took that challenge to heart. You have made 300 year old bombers fly to the heavens, and killed Death Claws with your bare hands while naked. Now you have a new Quest added to your gold and diamond studed Pimp-Boy 3 Billion: Forge a Nation in your name.

You've survived the Wasteland with flying colors, but can you conquer it?

---

Welcome to the FNV Empire of One Quest. In this scenario after battle of Hoover Dam, the Courier, having kicked ungodly amounts of ass, wants to try and tackle the Wasteland on a much bigger scale and establish his own Empire. Not any old City State like New Vegas, but a real nation like the great empires fighting for the Sierra Nevada, and dream of possibly expanding even beyond these deserts.

This thread is mostly to set up the character's background and some basic motivations/goals, I'll be preparing the proper Civ style quest for them to lead later in the week.

Players can vote or write in, first to three votes or whatever majority.

Today is the day, the very first day where you decide to bring the Wasteland out of its dust and rust into a new golden era not seen since before the Great War. You reflect on all that you've done, your reputation and where you stand today. Which empire do you intend to forge?

CHOOSE

>Bearer of the Golden Branch
You are a hero of the New California Republic, having routed the Legion at the great Battle of Hoover dam and been recognized for your velour and honor in battle and in service to this great nation. But the NCR is still a corrupt and flimsy nation rife with deceit and corruption, spread out to far and too wide until it is nearly bled white upon its own size as bandits, monsters, and other threats continue to flourish in its own borders. The bear is being bitten and stung by a thousand different pests, even as it fights for its superiority over the Bull. You intend to see that change, and the Bear rise up over the former American territory.

>Hero of the Empire
Ave, true to Caesar. You have served the Emperor well, having won him Hoover dam and a ticket into the west. Your face is spread far and wide upon the minted coins of his Legion that carves into this blasted wasteland, ripe for the taking. Unlike the NCR, the Legion finds its strength in unity, discipline, and most importantly leadership under Caesar and his most trusted generals. But its reliance on intentionally stifling technological advance in favor of skill ever proves a disadvantage in more and more cases, as the NCR only increases in knowledge and size. Constant oppression and subjugation of enslaved territories proves almost as much as hassle of logistics as the NCR's great size, as troops must maintain constant vigilance against dissidence and rebellion. Despite opening the door to the West, the Legion cannot move further without sacrificing its own gains. You ponder on ways to permanently affix this, and break the Bull from the chains of those it has enslaved to carve a greater Empire than even Caesar dreams of.

>Vegas' Trump Card
You are the best investment ever made by the smartest man on the planet. Vegas stands as the closest thing to what the Old World once was, but like Mr. House himself is still but a ghost of its former self. Although you activated his robots and won full independence for New Vegas, the old man ever proves to be limited in his sight, perhaps a product of his great age causes his care to limit itself to his precious city. Vegas shines, but only just, and the rest of the Wasteland in darkness. And even the New Vegas of today pales in comparison to the Old World. Prosperity is caught in the cold metallic claws of the Securitrons. Can you break out of the rusted walls of this ancient city and make Vegas truly shine as the capital of a new empire?

>WildCard
No Gods. No Masters. You routed the NCR and slain their general, gutted Caesar and his feared Legatus, and killed House himself. You are the master of New Vegas now. But having tasted what the Old World was and looking upon Vegas in its current state, you weep at the dirty, rusted, and ultimately corrupted city you have inherited. Still with an army of upgraded Securitrons at your bidding, the prospect of trying to forge an Empire while being squeezed between two others doesn't sound too impossible. After all, they don't have you on their side do they.

>Other/Write in
Want to play to see another faction rise entirely? As long as there's a reason for them to be in the Sierra Nevada go ahead. You might even try t reestablish the Enclave for example

I would think so. So long as they're a faction that exists in New Vegas, the Courier can pretty much make any faction work.
What about the Brotherhood of Steel? Weren't the Enclaves originally villains?
>>
>>1426582
>>1426712
I would like to advocate for the Followers of the Apocalypse. They have the right leaders in science and medicine to create a utopia, and with good enough leadership and defense it can transform the Mojave.

Absolutely, although remember currently the Enclave of the Sierra Nevada currently consists of a handful of old timers well past their prime.

Well, if it gets voted a handful of old timers plus a Courier. Good odds for a faction outlawed by the NCR, the BOS and of course the Legion.

>>1426720
The Enclave is the rightful continuation of the proper American Government as outlined in the Constitution of the United States.

Also yes they were hella evil, at least from FO3.

But the old guys in FNV are more like retired run away nazi officers in Argentina at worst, and generally seemed nice except for that one fellow who really hated the NCR's guts.
>>
>>1426720
>Enclave the Villains.

If you look at them from a morality stand point yes, but this is also fallout. No side is 'mortally' just in any fashion. The Enclave are actually the only 'true' members from the Old American government in any fashion. The BoS broke off from them and started the war because they found out about the FEV and that was being tested on prisoners and PoW's. If we could fix the Enclaves needs to just murder everybody instead of use them as labor they would be great. Due to the mass 'cullings' they suffered, That surprisingly wouldn't be too hard unless QM has his own lore.

>>1426725
Which is why they could defend themselves as is right? Lol.

>>
>>1426770
Militias are super useful when holding onto places of known land. However they are usually under geared and under-supplied. Where as with the Enclave personal we would have an edge in almost every field of training plus how to properly fly verti-birds. Locations for hidden Enclave catches, and other things of that nature.

Boones a good kid, but I mean. I'd rather have a squad of military guys with years of experience then just 1 guy.

I just don't want to be Enclave because they seem to be a continuation of a bunch of the shit that led to the great war anyhow.
I doubt they learned their lesson about the past or how to actually get civilians to cooperate on a large scale.

Fully independent. Launched nukes at both sites from the Lonesome Road. Our rival is alive and contemplating the world now out on that perch.

From our vantage point atop The 88 we forge a new empire. Attempting to use the fire of the enclave remnant alongside the compassion of the followers of the Apocalypse to lead the people out of darkness.
>>
>>1426784
I strongly recommend it I plan to myself, it's been a long time

>>1426785
Well you'd have a point if we were talking about the East Coast enclave, but like, with only 6 old people to start with you might have an easier time convincing them to change their ideology.

Hilariously, thats the sort of complaint the NCR gets too by Caesar.

>>1426789
That would need to be a write in, but it would be akin to the House Quest. Like house, the BOS is very narrow minded, focused primarily on hoarding and guarding advanced technology for themselves alone, even if for a chivalrous cause. Hence the war between them and the NCR.

You'd work to get them out of their monastic funk and into the empire building mood.
>>
>>1426582

>>
>>1426785
as Qm said here >>1426741 we'd have abunch of guys who disliked the bad shit the Enclave did and be able to do a fresh start of it. We'd also have abunch of knowledge and shit they did.

Also the only reason the guys who 'did' the great war died along fucking time ago and paid the price.

3 Votes for independent!

This is the first vote to get 3. Since we have a lot more potential players in the quest, I'm going to give about half an hour or so for other votes to make a counter argument before locking it in.

Any other votes by then get to three and we'll vote do tie breaker.

House, the NCR, the Legion none of them were really important to you. In fact if the battle of Hoover Dam were to happen right now, you would hardly care.

For all you know it IS happening right now.

You've seen the Old World America, through simulations and footage, and the fever of old world blues and patriotism has gripped you with a fiery passion! You yearn to see that greatness and prosperity brought back to the wasteland, when all that is offered is the sad parody of it that is the NCR and the brutal totalitarian rule of the Legion and. . .the enigmatic House.

The Enclave calls to you. But you've read the old NCR newspapers and know enough about history. The Enclave was destroyed decades ago in an Oil Rig, blown to bits, while any stragglers were summarily hunted down, tried, and executed by the NCR. Nothing remains of the Enclave but memories.

Except a handful of old timers that you've called here to this bunker right now with an important thing to say.

---

You arrive at the Remnants Bunker, located on your Pimp Boy. You had to do a few errands for Arcade a long time ago, the details aren't that important.

You remember you are wearing:
>The Remnants Power Armor - The Toughest Goddamn armor you've been able to find in the Sierra Nevada, hands down. Its hugely fitting for this occasion as well.
>The MK II Stealth Suit - Ever since you put "her" on you really are loathed to ever get her off your body. She has such a nice soft touch, and she's so friendly, warning you of enemies and telling you when its nice and safe. She's damned good at hide and seek.
>Your boxer shorts - Fuck armor. Fuck clothes. You beat a nest of Cazadores to death in only your boxer shorts. Any other person walking around naked would be a huge embarrassment and taboo, but you're the motherfucking Courier!

You're wearing the Remnant Power Armor, you love to get in a good scrap! Dishing out all the punishment while taking it in stride, this armor truly represents the superiority of American Engineering!

You do have the Stealth Suit in your pack, sneaking has its uses by why sneak when you can fight! You also have some leather armor and a bandanna in your inventory for civil occasions, whatever those are.

The brown duster you wear over your armor is riddled with holes and stains, but is as much a part of the suit as it is a part of your identity.

You also remember the weapon you have at your side, your preferred instrument of delivering your particular style of justice at range.
>A Shoulder Fired Fat Man - Who cares if you're indoors, the threat of this baby is good enough!
>Gatling Gun - Ol' reliable at 3000 RPM
>"Big Iron" - That song just wouldn't stop playing in a row one day, making you annoyed. You got yourself an Anti-Material Rifle, sliced off most of the barrel and refitted it with a custom revolver style loading system. This is one weapon you didn't find in the wasteland!
>Anti-Material Rifle - Perfect for picking off pesky pests at a 1000 yards away. Like people in Power Armor for example.
>Alien Blaster - You only have so many of these little glowy things you think are power cells, but who cares this thing is awesome. You've left a long trail of glowing goop in the wasteland with this baby
>Other/Ranged

And when push comes to shove and the badguys are a bit to close, you've also got a good melee weapon
>A Ballistic Fist - Punch people in the face and watch their head explode into itty bitty bits
>Super Sledge - It's always hammer time
>Thermic Lance - This thing melts through everything. Literally. You've yet to find something that stops it.
>Cosmic Knife - This unholy thing is too sharp for anyone's good. It has on many occasions poked through your power armor and given you a nasty cut, and to hold it at your side in conventional knife holsters is a joke whose punchline is a lost toe. The only way you managed to wear it safely was by using the Thermic lance to melt and creating a holster made out other cosmic knives.

Not many. I'm not going to be super specific on weight but in general you can expect to hold about 2 heavy weapons tops, plus maybe about 11 medium weapons (or double that in small handhelds). And thats if you were naked, wearing the power armor and holding clothes also adds to the weight.

Here stands the Courier. Decked in his potent Remnant Power armor draped by an old Duster.

In his right hand a personally crafted weapon unlike any other, a 28mm six shooter crafted from the barrel of an NCR Anti-Tank/Anti-Material rifle, the "Big Iron" so heralded in the song. Any other man would have needed to just hold this with two hands, let alone fire it, but not you. In your side arm, you have your not-so-trusted Cosmic Knife, which has a propensity to hurt you as much as it can your enemeis. Good thing you're pretty skilled at Melee Weapons in general, this thing causes some really bad owies.

>You prefer to face your enemies openly in Power Armor!
>You prefer getting up close and personal, blasting them with well aimed pistol-cannon shots and slicing them with a knife!

---

The sound of your heavy footsteps can be heard as the old soldiers gather around the holographic table, continuing to fade away as old soldiers do.

Doctor Henry the Scientist/combat engineer
Orion Moreno, the soldier and heavy weapons trooper
Judah Kreger, the (former) Commanding officer and captain
Cannibal Johnson,Soldier, sniper, and marksman
Daisy Whitman, vertibird pilot.

Arcade is here too, also wondering what you plan to do.

They answered your call to gather at the Bunker, and ask you why you've gathered them here.

"What's the meaning of this meeting anywho?" askes Kreger.

>Brothers and Sisters. I have asked you all here for another request one that may shock you to some degree. The future is bleak with the corrupt NCR, And the Slave Driven Legion. House only cared for greed and his own wealth. I've killed many people and yet I've also brought hopes and dreams to many. I ask you to help me reforge a future for the various people of the wasteland for now to drive out the NCR and Legion for good, with House's cards being brought to us.

We would bring the remaining goods of the Brotherhood of Steel into our control, Secure assets for a bright future that are unused or not repairable from the NCR and Legion and gather the cities and peoples togeather with flowing water and power to everybody along with food. Training the up the masses to be a proper military and resecuring industry and medical knowledge from the Followers and you here to ensure we defend ourselves.

I want to see the wasteland dare I even say, Maybe farther out actually bloom once more under civilization one that cares for all of its people, not just a few. I know this sounds like every other speech made but I ask for you to look at my deeds and what I have done and what we can do together for a bright future. A future for all of America.

>Resecure the Flow of Caps, Water, Food, Power and building supplies
>Get people to work in factories or farms or things like that so they can afford these new goods thus kick starting an industry
>Get the Followers and the current Enclave to get proper hospitals up and a Military trained up
>Secure BoS and other Enclave goods for the military and us
>Restart education and various other important things I have forgotten.
If anybody has a better speech or w.e. please do.
>>
Now onto to our speech.
Main Goals:
>Establish a reformed Enclave as the dominant power in the Mojave.
>Reclaim old world technology with the cooperation of the Followers of the Apocalypse.
>Begin enlistment of troops.
>Secure the borders of the Mojave.
>Eventually take new territory and absorb the wasteland into the New American Republic.

To add on to the goals

>Form an effective army that can act as a conquering force in times of war, and a police in times of peace

>Secure control of the Mojave, if any wish to fight against us they'll be given the chance to surrender peacefully. If not then they'll face annihilation

>Grow more across America, doing the same as above. Securing Old World technology along the way.

>Gain a firm control of food, water, caps and other resources

>Establish Old World systems of taxes, education, and laws

We kinda have to ditch the "Purity" bit.
We can't afford to waste resourceson exterminating everybody who doesn't fall withing a certain percentage of a genetic pattern. Fortunately for us, the people of the Mojave seem to be a hardy and industrious people. Even the mutants pull their weight here.

>Kreger
"Son, if I didn't know you better I'd say you took out a page from Richardson's speeches and decided to repeat it back to us. That's the same sort of thing all the presidents repeated in Navarro for two hundred years.

I don't know what new idea's come over you son but we've lived our whole lives believing that dream. We've seen people close to us give their lives, and done some pretty nasty things for it, only for it up in our face and turn to ash. We're not too keen on dedicating the last bits of our lives on something that was lost a long time ago."

>>1427167
>>1427180
>>1427212
At first the group has a look on their face as if they've heard all of this before (to be honest they have). But as you talk on, there's a twinkle in their eyes, like an old fire relit. Some of them start to remember the American dream they once shared, and hearing it come from you, talk of bringing back prosperity and peace stops being a record player and starts being an honest message they want to believe in again.

Even Arcade seems to be impressed, but ever the logical thinker he has to point out the obvious.
>Arcade
"Those are some noble goals you've set yourself out to do, but the NCR has you beat by about 100 years. Corrupt as they are they have been establishing farms and factories, reclaiming technology, establishing a military and safe zones. I can't say they've been the perfect guardian angels, but for all their greed they have been reestablishing civilization and keeping the Legion out of the Nevada."

>Moreno
Unlike the others Moreno is dressed in his power armor. "Fuck the NCR. I don't care what trinkets and scraps they make as hand outs, I'd sooner join the Legion than the NCR anyday."

Arcade is visibly distressed at this thought, but still some things had to be said.

"And for all of the NCR's corruption, it has to be said the Enclave wasn't a beacon of morality either." Arcade looks to Kreger.

Kreger nods back. "Arcade is right. In a way sometimes the Enclave was as bad as the Legion in how it approached the wasteland. There was a lot of wrong done to a lot of innocent people for the sake of the "greater good"

You can sense Moreno's anger beneath his armor. "It was war. We followed our orders and did what we had to do. No more than any NCR soldier or Legionaire."

>Daisy
"I would like to get back in a Vertiberd cockpit. . .but look sweetie, we're not exactly the young men and women we used to be."

>Doc Henry
"Daisy is right. You want to establish a nation with 6 old soldiers, one young doctor and a Courier. Now you've done some pretty amazing things but that seems like too tall an order for anyone."

"He does make some nice points about reform and education, and working with the Followers. Ever since Kimball the NCR decided to establish their own Office of Science and Industry, the NCR hasn't been the best of patrons. Many of the followers suspect if they win at Hoover Dam, the NCR is going to drive us out."

>Kreger
"Tell us Arcade, you've traveled with the man. Do you really think he's capable of all this?"

>Arcade
He pauses and thinks on it for a moment. "There hasn't been anything I've seen the man set out to do that he hasn't accomplished, and some of the tales he's told me about places like Big MT or the Sierra Madre Casino I wouldn't have believed myself if he didn't bring back proof.

If he really means what he says to work with the followers and recruit local villages, I think he could do it. Its going to take more than just the seven of us. But from what I've seen, he's made a lot of good friends. If he brings them along, we can do it."

Kreger nods.

"Alright son, you've got the Devil's Brigade on your side. Show us some of those crazy Courier deeds to back those words, and maybe we can do a lot of good in the time these old dogs have left."

We can do the roman republic way. Elected senate except in emergencies, then we elect a dictator for a short period of time.

Would you prefer me call them civilians or citizens? The meaning of these is the same as peasant in this context. But fine. We will give the average citizen the opportunity to run the country. Although, to run a proper campaign, they'd need quite a bit of money or funding from the private sector to tour or be broadcasted on the radio outside of debates, so it still limits the pool of participants. There is no creating a "true and free" election system. No matter what, we'll be plagued with the same issues as the modern American government, so we may as well improve upon it as we can.
>>
>>1428657
So long as we're not a complete dictator and we actually put things to votes with elected officials and shit, I'm fine with whatever.

Anon, if they are secure and kept productive, they don't really need anything else. Besides, people like Napoleon, Augustus, and Julius were beloved.
>>
>>1428677
>>1428693
What government makes a happy populace? What government doesn't create a nightmare for its officials? Do we seem happy with our current government? The Republic has failed us. Only the rich and influential can run anymore. And how do you intend to open it to more people? Is the government going to fund all campaigns? Are we going to tax everyone so that anyone can run? It is not possible in the modern age (or post-modern, as it is) to create such a system. No matter what, someone will be unhappy. Best to do what we can, but keep executive power in proper hands and let everyone else squabble and fight over legislative power.
>>
>>1428701
Julius kept the Republic nominally.

We will be better than all of em when we institute DEMOCRACY
>>
>>1428707
Local elections boy.

How will preventing free and fair representation create a happier populace, they will simply resist the executive branch. We need representation for the people.

How can we call ourselves heirs to America when we are the antithesis to traditional American values?
>>
>>1428711
Julius kept the legislature, which I agree with. Democracy is good when there is order and safety in the nation, not when we have to deal with a post apocalyptic world ravaged by every horrible thing possible. Democracy keeps people happy, while authoritarians get things done.
>>
>>1428731
Authoritarian regimes have consistently proven to be inefficient and unstable, replaced by another autocrat.

Democracy is proven to work.

I'm sorry, but corruption takes hold much faster in Democratic nations then others.
>>
>>1428728
>How can we call ourselves heirs to America when we are the antithesis to traditional American values?

We should not have to. America failed and died. But we are the survivors. We are the true heirs because we are the strongest, and we are the survivors. Traditional American values, those held by the ones who failed America, have no meaning here. Why should we follow a system that lead to the death of the world, alongside Communism?

Factually incorrect.

Corruption and cronyism ran rampant under the Soviets and the autocratic governments of China, Zaire, Honduras, Brazil, Rhodesia, Pakistan, Egypt, Libya, 1930's Italy, Ceaušescu's Romania, Turkey, Ottomans, Thailand, Vietnam, Venezuela and Yugoslavia, not to name countless others.

You remember that once upon a time you decided to work for Caesar, just to get close to the man and the Legion. Back then you still weren't decided on who you wanted to support.

You did remember how important the chip was and as was getting the man who put bullets in your brain. When you learned from Caesar himself that he had Benny crucified and had the chip in his possession it was disappointing.

Your Pimp Boy still lists Caesars request, you were supposed to go to the Bunker and destroy whatever was inside. You still haven't. That's a choice you can do whenever you feel ready.

Today though, you spend time actually assessing the bunker and seeing what you have.

Second of all, no man has absolute power, theirs always someone else who influences the play.

Third, the people would in no way accept a man with absolute power. That's foolish.
>>
>>1429200
Good thing I'm not arguing for absolute power. My plan, as well as three others, were to have the Courier as the Emperor, with a legislative branch. If this is agreed on, we would go into the more gritty details. Only one kind of man can have absolute power, and that's a god, or someone a lot better than us.

Also, the people would accept a man with absolute power, as long as the man is competent and benevolent.
>>
>>1429212
Why not simplify it to a council with us as a first among equals for now? Or, well, what we're currently having.

Well with a council, I think that would take away power from the people. I am pretty firm set on an Emperorship with a Congress. But unlike OTHERS, I am open minded.

>That's never going to happen. First of all, no leader is infallible, and if they make the slightest mistake, they won't rectify it.
That's a rather broad generalization. Some leaders do understand they make mistakes and do rectify it. It simply isn't common in the modern age because the "mistakes" are done on purpose for the benefits of other powers.

>Second of all, no man has absolute power, theirs always someone else who influences the play.
You seem to have never heard of Louis IV of France.

You do wonder if there are any other survivors of Navarro.

>Kreger
"Most fled on foot, but a good number of us got on Vertibird's and fled. We had an location of where to hide and wait for the signal to "regroup", when it never came we decided to disperse and try to blend in. Others weren't so lucky."

I've created a map for your territory. We'll be using the in game map for the Mojave Wasteland until the day you successfully take it over, then we'll move onto a map of the American Wasteland.

Directly to your west is Jacobstown, where with your help you and Doctor Henry developed a cure for the Nightkin mutants' insanity. Lilly the Nightkin, one of your own companions, is doing much better too. You also remember some of other things you did there too like:

when Keene, the leader of the Nightkin, confronted you and demanded you hand over the Stealth Boy MKII schematics, you:

>convinced him to stand down

and time the NCR sent mercenaries to kill the mutants

>Paid them to leave with your hilariously excessive bag of caps
>Joined them to wipe out Jacobstown. That was after you convinced the Doc to leave, of course.

Yes, given your current population (and yourself) just the one for now. Later when you grow in sufficient strength and size you may get more.

"I ain't sure we got the technical know how to improve this here bunker structure any further. Could get a couple of turrets up and running though, but we always relied on this place being hidden as our main defense."

You remember of Station Foxtrot where several NCR soldiers are stationed to observe Jacobstown, unaware of the hiddden Bunker. This also means if you were to choose to build an above ground tower it would be seen too.

Still, perhaps there might be other options for enhanced communications you're not thinking of. If it gets enough votes, you can roll for options your character would know IC. Or if you can figure some out yourself and fluff it you'll get a bonus.

Scrap metal. Since forever it's always been something you tended to leave behind unless you really wanted to craft something, for a long time your ability to craft was limited.

"Big Iron" was actually the best thing you ever did craft, and that took a long and involved quest working with the Gun Runners for decent parts.

As always the issue, in the wasteland isn't finding metal, after all places like Gibson's scrap yard is chuck full of the stuff.

The problem is figuring out how to use it.

Only recently have you heard the NCR has gotten a handful of Old World industrial mills up and running to recycle steel (another reason they want the Hoover Dam) but there's nothing like that kind of capability here in the Mojave.

Regarding Power Armor is an even trickier issue. It isn't so much the armor that's the hard part to make, its the Power Armor Frame. A lot of advanced electrical components and finely calibrated hydraulics goes into them, and it takes a lot of skill just to repair and replace the parts.

Making a new one from scratch is something beyond your reach. You wonder if the Brotherhood of Steel might know how, you never asked. Kreger says they don't know, although they are good at maintaining Remnant power armor the only people knew how to make it were at Navarro. They could be dead for all that's known now.

---

Other things that come into your mind regarding know how of using Materials and Industry is BIG MT and the Think Tank, but those brains are all so very addled on ancient Old World projects.

Then there was the Sierra Madre Vending Machines, and technology there to literally synthesize matter from energy. That was incredible but. . .going back to the Sierra Madre is something that makes your stomach Churn. Indestructible holograms with some of the strongest laser weapons you've ever faced, only able to be defeated by disabling their holo-emitters. The infernal Cloud, that toxic gas that corrodes and melts everything they touch. Legions of Ghost People.

But that was you without any armor or weapons, and most importantly a Vertibird for fast escapes. The prospect of going back doesn't seem so bad. Maybe. No it still seems awful, but not impossibly awful.

You're sure House has some kind of advanced communications Array in the lucky 38, there's also Helios 1 and the Nellis Array. Both are guarded heavily for ostensible reasons. But hey, since when has that ever stopped you.
>>
>>1429893
You find the ghoul in the place and have to fight up a mountain. Tobba or w.e. Is the werid female? Super mutants name
>>
You and the others go out and gather scrap metal, including 2 Junk Cars (you were careful to remove and dispose of the unstable power cells which couldn't be repaired, and actually melted down when you moved them).

Thankfully the old age of the others is offset by their power armor.

You lay the scrap outside the base, there really isn't much room for it inside the bunker, but it doesn't stick out that much since piles of scrap are quite commonplace.

You remember that you

>Killed Tabitha and Free'd Raul
>Repaired Tabitha's Robot, Rhonda, and saw the two of them walk off to the east
>Free'd Raul, sneaking him out, but left Tabitha and still ranting

You also remember that the radio station might have the juice you need for a much wider signal!

We should look into taking over the vaults in the region. A good one to start with is that semi-flooded one that you go through as part of a side-quest, where you need to purge the reactor to either save the vault's people or allow the NCR's farmlands in the region to grow.

Depending on the choice, we either get a vault with some serious damage and a ghoul infestation or a with a small population of sentient ghouls.

Tabitha was quite thankful and even gave you the key to her Radio Room! After she and Rhonda left, the rest of the mutants slowly drifted off. Neil tried to convince some of them to go to Jacobstown.

They have their uses.

For example: highly radioactive regions can be lived and worked in without issue by both groups. Where as we would require radiation suits and medical treatments.

So we can use them to reclaim and work irradiated areas on the cheap.

Another good use, as expendable forces. The super mutants are dumb enough to be manipulated by us (we have 10 charisma). Sadly ghouls are not so predictably stupid.

You were able to convince Keene to stand down, and since then he's been a great help to Marcus in keeping the nightkin in line, recruiting them from the wasteland and keeping them out of the Mojave and in Jacobstown.

The migration of mutants to Jacobstown has been. . .more rapid than expected. This gives the NCR an even growing concern, and they aren't very happy that you've swayed their own mercenaries against them. The last time you were there you remember Range Station Foxtrot a bit more well manned than when you first found it.

>Jacobstown is well populated
>There are Super Mutants and Night Kin in Jacobstown
>Keene and Marcus are friendly!
>Ranger Foxtrot Station is up-armed
>NCR is alarmed at Jacobstown

You decide to make some kind of Universal Tech Scanning device, to analyze how a piece of technology works and give you a way to replicate it. Brilliant! It's the sort of miracle science the NCR would drool at the mouth for.

But here in the Sierra Madre the only person you can think of who could come up with that sort of miracle technology is House, and he doesn't even have the chip yet. Although, maybe if he did. . .but even then you doubt he has the right tools currently, and you sure as hell don't.

There is only one other place you can think of that such a thing could be made and people who know how to do it is Big MT. And that's exactly where you decide to go.

You whip out your Big Mountain Transportalponder! and in a flash of light, you're standing on the Balcony of the SINK. A few more steps away and you're greeted by the ever active inhabitants of the sink. The light switches flirt at you, with a hint of competition between them. Muggy asks you for more cups. The Auto-Doc is glad that you are well and the Blind Diode Jefferson trumpets the arrival of the "conquering hero". The Toaster still demands that you plug him into one of those fancy Fat Man Launchers or a flamethrower.

This place was by far the most useful hideout you ever found, a shame only you have any real access to it. You're not entirely sure where in the wasteland Big MT is, and the only way in and out is the transportalponder.

Right down to business though, that tech scanner. This feels like a good place to make it, even though you don't know where to begin. You remember exactly how you left this place.

>Worked with Doctor Mobius to continue the Charade, and keep the Think Tank from breaking out and unleashing a technological nightmare. They're quite friendly at least.
>You killed the Think Tank. It had to be done. Now you are the head researcher of Big MT.
>Other? Write in

You also scratch your head, remembering

>How you left your brain in the Forbidden Zone. He's twice as smart as you and he's probably (idly chatting with Dr. Mobius / reading books alone, since you killed Mobius)
>Right in your head, where it belongs
>>
>>1430364
I guess the balancing part is where we have to get those precious Pip-boys to start off with, unless we slap a metal, radar, or sonar detector onto our Pimp-Boy to call it day.

>>1430239
The original suggestion sounds like the plan was to get those super scientists to make it viable, and what we're making was a proof of concept.
>>
>>1430371
>>Other? Write in

We need to take control of the strip, Camp McCarran, the Fort, and westside as the battle is going on. It's going to be close
>>
>>1430424
If we can take Vault 3 as a staging point or convince them to attack Camp McCarran on our signal then we can be certain that won't be a problem.
>>
>>1430424
If we make them bleed at the Damn, NCR and Legion won't be able to challange us and it depends on how we go with House. We could kill him or set up yes man. The strip quickly falls under our control.
>>
>>1430432
But it's better to knock everyone out in one big punch than to let them wither on the vine.

>>1430430
We can get the fiends to wast themselves at Camp McCarran as we wipe out Vault 3, so they have no base to go back to and we get rid of our fiend problem
>>
>>1430436
I don't think you understand, With the losses at the damn and our lack of 'actual' support. Both sides end up being pushed off, Thats proven when you side with yourself/Yes Man/House at the end of the game. We show up en-force and it forces both factions pretty much out of the wasteland. We don't 'need' to attack anybody,
>>
>>1430436
I have an idea: we promise them a fuck ton of drugs assuming they attack camp McCarran and bring us someone's head (base officer?) which we will store in the vault while their raiders go out.

Then, after having whatever Skeleton crew they leave behind "Taste the product" and either poison them / knock them unconscious, we kill the rest and secure the Vault for their return.

At that point it's just a matter of some big guns and a few hundred rounds.

Total mission expenditure: drugs / poison, ammo, time and weapons + appropriately trained members to wield them.
>>
>>1430446
Of course I know all of that, but Camp McCarran is still going to be occupied. If we can get the fiends and the NCR to fight it out, why wouldn't we? Also, I don't think it was ever CLEARLY said that the NCR pulled out right away
>>

So the plan is to make all our enemies go all in on the Battle for Hoover Dam, then wipe them out once they're all at their weakest?

>>1430446
I think his plan was to make it easier to capture the rest of their territories if they lose all their forces here.
>>
>>1430452
And then the other fiends will come back bloody and (beaten?) to find us with a few other securitrons to mow them down. Then we just have to get the Great Kahns to suicide themselves at the dam
>>
>>1430456
Yep, easy but efficient
>>
>>1430456
>>1430454
I'm against us attacking anybody unless we need to. This is the same fucking reason why the Enclave keeps being labeled the bad guy. We're able to pressure and prusade people. We will also be sitting on one of the largest and only power sources that still works after Hover Damn. They want power? They'll listen to us or else.
>>
>>1430461
The NCR and the Legion are going to be our enemies any way we look at it. We might as well get as much land as possible. Besides, we aren't going to be attacking anybody, just pitting themselves against each other.

Also, the Enclave are the bad guys because they shoot down innocent people and try to release poison into the water system
>>
>>1430456
What of the Khans. DO we want them to throw themselves away or can we tame them to our cause. They seem like an amiable source of hands.
>>
>>1430456
Essentially. More precisely it is claiming to each faction that they can make their move and defeat / force back their enemies while this is going on and then we sweep in. Clearing out those we dislike or can't absorb and making the rest fall back or surrender.

For example: we probably won't do anything to the followers of the apocalypse, the kings and most of the independent towns. If anything we should try and rally them to our cause.

We might consider trying to eliminate the remaining BOS in the area. However I would advise trying to let bygones be bygones and get them on our side. We are the only factions with any major understanding of OW tech and at major risk of elimination. Neither of us is strong enough to peruse our ideological ideals nor fully believing of them anymore.

We will however attempt to eliminate or play the following forces against each other: Ceasers Legion, NCR, House (possibly), Powder gangers, the new Khans and every other major gang or raider group.

However in the case of the Khans, we could attempt to either leave them alone or even ally with them to eliminate the major factions. Seeing as they have the numbers we currently need.
>>
>>1430465
In my opinion, the Khans need to be wiped out. if given the chance, they could turn into a big empire.
>>
>>1430465
The Khans are isolationists but seemingly willing to do merc work if they need whatever you offer.

What we can offer is medicine, clean water and that sort of thing. Also not being on the courier's hit list.
>>
>>1430463
The NCR can we be worked with and the Legion falls apart if we don't heal Ceaser's brain tumor.

>>1430465
Personally, I support them being brought into the fold. Khan's in and of themselves just need guidance and we can give it.

>>1430467
We're gonna try to recruit the Followers as we're not going the full KILL ALL route of Enclave. Also the BoS won't be Begonias because they only want to seize tech and kill those that oppose them. We might? be able to sway them though.

Freeside gangs should be able to bring under our control easily as well.
>>
>>1430481
The NCR will be bitter after we turned on them. I wouldn't be surprised if we got put on their shit list. I suppose this will be put up to a vote when the time comes
>>
>>1430483
>Turned
I never once said cut off the supply of energy they have in the deal with House or anything. Yes they want to expand but they are currently overstretched and a massive blow like losing the damn but somebody coming forward to negatie with. They'd have to be crazy not to take it. We don't have the forces to destory them, So our best bet is to tie them down while looking still like a semi-good guy.
>>
>>1430490
Not having the damn won't cripple them, it is just a boon. At this point, you are gambling that they won't turn bitter. But if you have payed any attention to their lore, you'll see that even though they fight with words, they hold grudges.
>>
>>1430490
Also, not helping them take the dam, we are already not on their side. if you're not with the NCR, you're against them
>>
>>1430495
we need time, Not just a defeat they can spin as another rallying cry.
>>
>>1430481
The BOS might be able to come on side if we rebrand a little and cut a deal where they some fancy tech. McNamara can be convinced to loosen up so to speak. The biggest problem I see is if we actually call ourselves the Enclave.
>>
>>1430502
You don't think this will be a defeat for them? Besides, defeat will be welcome in the NCR. Almost no one wants to be in the Mojave.
>>
>>1430505
Having former Enclave in our ranks will anger them. I say that we wipe them out, but try to keep the bunker and their tech alive. Maybe some sort of gas in the vents?
>>

We could drop the Enclave name, so long as we keep the inherent goal: the creation of a successor state to the nation of america and the supremacy of the humankind over the wastes.

First of all, you're getting too angry over something that can be talked out. You obviously don't have a level head. The NCR can spin anything anyway they want, but people want out of the Mojave

Most of the people in America are uneducated. They would rather a simple name that has ties to a better time

Damn this reminds me of southern cross.

>>
>>1430563
What's Southern Cross?
>>
>>1430560
They do and will want it even more if they think that more and more factions are spawning and working against them.

If we can have the Boomers do an attack run over as many NCR positions as possible with us calling out the attacked locations over the radio (thus showing it was our faction) they'll know that another factions has arrived. One that has better tech than them it would seem.

A compatible move in fiction would be found in the stories of the Foundation: where they lied about having nuclear arms to stave off attack from other planets and empires.

True but that doesn't mean we should change it from Union.

Other alternatives by the way were: Hierarchy, zone, combine, state, kingdom, territories, autocracy, technocracy, Imperium, order and authority.

We can replace them fairly quickly if it comes to it.

>>1430578
The world of fallout hasn't seen a bomber fly outside of Enclave or BOS hands in more than 200 years. Why would they expect one now?

As you walk down the steps toward the Think Tank a tremendous explosion rocks you off your feet as the building shakes.

Never worry that's a common occurrence here, happens every once in a while.

Then several more huge explosions make you roll around on the floor again. Okay, that is not normal.

Neither are the Red Alarms, the Sirens, and the sounds of massed laser fire and machines.

The Think Tank's door's open and you walk inside. The windows are all sealed shut, the entire room illuminated only by red light. Behind the metal shudders, you hear the faint sounds of battle and energy weapons.

"Dr. Mobius! Oh, thank goodness you've arrived!" says Dr. 0, who like the rest of the think tank still believe you are Dr. Mobius' brain inside the Lobotomite. "We desper-"

"I'LL HANDLE THIS DR. ZERO. GREETINGS DR. MOBIUS, EVERYTHING IS PERFECTLY UNDER CONTROL."

"Under control! We're under attack!"

"NONSENSE. I ASSURE YOU WE ARE NOT UNDER ATTACK. I HAVE EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL."

The building shakes again, and a piece of steel from the roof falls and lands right next to Dr. Mobius.

"AHH! DID YOU SEE THAT, I COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED MY BRAIN- I MEAN. AHEM, EVERYTHING IS UNDER CONTROL. ANY NOTIONS THAT WE ARE UNDER ATTACK BY INVADERS WHO ARE OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW IS. . .NONSENSE!"

Well I had American Phoenix as a suggestion earlier, but that sounds more like our national animal than our nation's name.

>>1430579
The Phoenix of America? Hm, sounds more like a name a red baron would have.
The American Union is the best I could come up with, or American Federation to make it sound better. The Colombian Union?
>>
>>1430615
Columbian Union, I meant. New American Republic?
>>
>>1430615
The American Phoenix sounds fucking cool. That could be our national animal. The New American "Republic" sounds good, except it is kinda similar to the NCR. Maybe just the American Republic?
>>
>>1430615
America, Short sweet and simple. It reminds people of the great old world America, And many as I once said before don't have a good education and would't get the whole 'rising from the ashes' thing.

All you need to do is remove the word "New" and I guess that's all you need to make a big enough distinction.

>America, Short sweet and simple.
America sounds good for our purposes, just welcome people to America and see what happens.
>>
>>1430634
Thats why I keep suggesting if and when we get to the point of naming. It should just be America. It'll ring home to all the uneducated people in the wasteland and elsewhere while also declaring our purpose to those with a proper education. Its also much simpler in general for everybody in the 'fallout' verse anyway.
>>
I like the Phoenix idea.
>>
>>1430641
I like America too. But would it really just be america? I think there needs to be something else. We are the US, the United States, the United States of America, America, Americans, etc.

>>
>>1430634
We can be the American Restoration Front, ARF.
>>
>>1430665
That could be the name of our Army?
>>
Honestly don't see that much of a need to have the brand America in it. Perhaps do something new. If it is to be centered around Vegas and the Mojave, I'd go with the Vegas Republic.

If we are stuck with branding it with "America," I'd simply go with America. Not many these days call their nations as their titles. Britain, France, US. America is fine enough to stand on its own.
>>
>>1430601
>>1430641
Now I wonder, what's the general level of education in Fallout? Clearly they seem fairly intelligent if they're capable of reading.

>>1430671

>>1430665
>>1430668

>>
>>1430691
Not that high sense Schooling isn't really a thing to the general masses it seems. Outside of certain areas.
>>
>>1430691
Super dumb. You'll find some with basic education, some with college, but the majority are uneducated. The first thing we should set up, after the basics, is a good education system
>>
>>1430691
General education is poor. NCR likely has something halfway decent, but that would likely be the extent of it outside of a home-schooling system in small communities.

As for the name, that's more of a mouthful than anything. No reason to have the "Phoenix" part in there, despite pushing for that whole "rebirth" angle. Doesn't do much for us. Besides that, I doubt most outside the Followers and some really smart/wealthy in the NCR would understand the symbolism.
>>
>>1430691
I imagine core NCR and places like that are pretty good, a bit behind prewar. The OSR needs to pick its recruits from someplace. Vegas and surrounding territories probably aren't that good, but the people are resourceful enough.

This goes on for a while and you decide to demand to see what is outside.

"EHM . . .VERY WELL DR. MOBIUS. TAKE A LOOK OUTSIDE AND SEE HOW I HAVE EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL"

The windows open.

You see, crashed into one side of Big MT what looks like a huge, enormous crashed Saucer. It's bisecting the Radar Fence, which is cackling around it.

Looking down below you see utter chaos. Massed lobotomites, zombie spacemen with laser weapons, cyberdogs, robots and monsters are fighting things coming out of the Saucer. Robots which hover over the ground and launch sphere's of plasma, smooth almost shell shaped turrets firing blasts of energy that shine like magnesium and . . .them.

Aliens.

You killed tree or four on a smaller crashed saucer, its where you got the Alien blaster and a couple of power cells but. . .never in this number. There must be hundreds down there, maybe thousands! All huddled around their ship and firing away at the scientific madness unleashed by the facility, which seems to keep belching out more and more.

>Dr Borous
"Several weeks ago, we noticed something on our scientific telescopes pointed at the celestial heavens. A huge flash of light raced across the easten sky, like a giant laser beam! Then yesterday there were lots of smaller little bursts of light in the sky, as if two lobotomies were firing their little laser pistols at each other in a duel to the death. A little while later, there was a tremendous flash in the sky like an enormous explosion of epic proportions. Our radars came to life to blare a warning at us, heralding a mysterious and enigmatic object falling from the sky. There was the greatest explosion ever felt since the explosion that tore the mountain off of Big Mountain. It went something like this:

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Then the dust began to settle, and we saw out there a kind of fallen round thing, all made of strange metal. The inhabitants inside came out and attacked, and the many little creatures of Big Mountain came out to attack them in turn. It is like staring at a microscopic image of a foreign body injecting an animal, and watching all the little animal immune cells moving out to attack."

>Dr 0
"All our research facilities have been severely disrupted, we're down to 5% research capability."

>Dr Dala
"You've got to help us Dr. Mobius! All those poor little skinvelopes, and their precious tissue and organs, their bodily orifice and extremities, suddenly being turned into a pile of ash! It's. . .awful!"

Needless to say, this is not good news at all.

You consider ways to Hack the shields. This time that’s not so simple. You doubt they would have a terminal anywhere but in the heart of the ship, and there’s no telling if you could understand it. Plus, that level of firepower is too much even for you.

You do remember that a shield is still made of energy. And that Dr. Mobius himself erected the shields around the facility. These shields were able to be modulated to allow humans with brains to walk right through (such as Elijah, Ulysses, and Christine), while preventing mutations and abominable technology from leaving. If he could figure out a way to let things selectively pass through these shields, perhaps his was the key to bypassing these shields?

You make your way to the Forbidden zones, blasting and slashing a few things that got in your way (and a few more than didn’t, for fun). You see Dr. Mobius writing more equations on the floor, while your brain is snoring in a nap, a chess board set in front of it.

“Oh hello there, have we met?” Dr. Mobius greets you, as he has several times. Rather than trying to make him remember who you are you simply start explaining the situation, and he gets up to speed, listening.

“Hmmmm, that is quiet the consumption, er, cofunction. . .”

“Conundrum?”

“No no no, my Radar Fence works by detecting whether something has a human brain in a human body or not, and if it does then it modulates the frequency of the Fence’s wavelength to let them pass.”

“Could such a modulation be remotely applied to something else, like, a different energy shield? Perhaps even to allow all things to pass through?”

“Hmmm . . .I would say its not implausible. . .or is it improbable?”

“Impossible?”

“No again! It’s entirely possible. Here, let me show you.”

>con't
>>
>>1431240
Several hours later and a lot of hard work, you stand with Dr. Mobius on the balcony of the Forbidden Zone.

A great hangar door opens up to the Forbidden Zone, and walking right out of it is the newly rebuilt Giant Robo Scorpion. A very special modification has been added to its stinger, resembling one of the Radar Fence pylon's mixed in with a large Dish.

The idea was to analyze what frequency the alien Ship's shields were at, and then modulate it to allow objects to pass through.

"Oh I haven't said this in a long time. GIANT ROBO SCORPION, ATTACK!"

The Robo Scorpion raises its stinger toward the giant Saucer, first analyzing the shields. Then after some time, something ripples the air like an intense heat or microwave ray, in a straight line between the Scorpion and the alien ship.

It works! Suddenly the massed creatures and projectiles that were held back by the alien shield now pass through freely, and monsters and gunfire begin to slaughter the line of aliens defending the ship.

This goes on for about 10 minutes as the aliens are driven back, before the shields start vibrating and changing color. Then the next wave of monstrous creatures slams into shield again, stopped dead in their tracks. What happened?

"Oh my. . .it seems like the vessel's shields have somehow re-molded, er. . .remodeled"

"Remodulated"

"No that's-"

A tremendous explosion sends you both reeling as the Scorpion is blown up (damn). Furthermore the ship does something far worse.

Some sort of projector array sticks out from the Saucer, aimed at the Radar fence! You see the same tell-tale beam working on it, and the whole energy dome around Big MT start to shutter.

What follows next is a terrible sight. Flocks of Cazadores and critters flying through the shields, lobotomites brought out by the noise looking up, and then immediately following clambering through the now phased shields. Other monsters and monstrosities follow them, some as big as Old World buses, heading off into the distance.

>Alien Ship's Shields are still up!
>Big MT Shields are being phased!
>ALERT! Abominations are escaping!
>>
>>1431280
...so on a scale of 1 to 5 hellish occurrences. This is a sold 20.
>>
A lot of strange things are bursting from Big Mt. into the wasteland. You see the X-22 botanical garden burst like a big flower pod as a dark green cloud of spores floats away in the wind.

That's the way it rolls my man. It's best of 3, unless a crit takes place.

Still for some balance if another 1 appears I will invoke the Rule of 3.

Every thread if 3 1's are rolled in the thread, a 4th one will be considered a 100.

The same is true for the converse, if you keep pumping out 100s for three times in a row, I'm going to make the 4th count as a 1.

There are also other hidden roll equations, like bonuses for certain combination of dubs and special numbers, these will become even more prominent the bigger your faction gets.

They close and open doors, useful in this situation.

The main reason however is that if someone rolls a 100, it will still count even if its not the first three rolls. Same goes for the special roll combo's

The most logical thing to do you realize is also try to remodulate the Radar Fence. Thankfully it seems Dr. Mobius specific brand of madness and chaotic equations is good for this, and it seems like he had been anticipating a day where the Think Tank might attempt to breech the shields.

But for every new frequency and curve ball you throw at them, the aliens eventually wise up and phase the shields again. So far the best you can manage is intervals of about an hour, followed by short moments of about 5 minutes where the aliens phase the fence and you try to remodulate them.

You consider rebuilding the Scorpion again to try and phase the aliens shields, even for a brief moment, giving you an opening for something, about five minutes, though you aren’t sure what to do with that opening.
>>
In the spare time in between the time the aliens have yet to "remoderate" the shields, Dr. Mobius and your Brain continue their game of chess.

--CHANGE--

To help smoothen some aspects of gameplay, I am now allowing you 1 optional Hero Action per turn.

Since very often the Courier may be away from his base on important missions, it doesn't make sense to limit your options to only where the courier is.

Therefore, in addition to your
>Civ Action

you may take one
>Hero Action
for your Courier who is of a sufficient level to offer this

Note that if you do choose to take the one Civ Action, your hero is automatically applied to it, making it far more powerful.

Conversely, Civ Actions without your hero are limited to what your members are capable of accomplishing. Note that this usually means your best members, such as Arcade or Kreger, and whatever stats they have.
>>
>>1432396
You do not always have to pick a Hero Action, but you do need Civ Actions to advance the turn.

Sufficiently level your other heroes and they may provide their own hero actions.

Currently the Courier is something of a Jack of All Trades, other heroes who you nurture and specialize may become more powerful than the Courier in their own special task.
>>
>>1432396
Ah okay, well that's cool. Unfortunately we are in the Big Empty and only the Courier can be around.

We can task the scientists of the region to do shit though. Though admittedly they are both insane and also incapable of anything but research. Potentially they could do some prototyping / construction.
>>
>>1432411
Not to mention you have yet to recruit the Think Tank to your cause, as well their own capabilities are limited as the whole of Big MT is in chaos.
>>
>>1432411
Well we could always have Arcade and Dr. Jones come take a look if we could either get them out of Big Mt. or get them into Big Mt. or even take samples from the robots
>>
>>1432415
I misspoke, the Think Tank are definitely working with you as "Dr. Mobius" in exchange for some access to materials and assets from outside Big MT.

However its not total loyalty/subordination like you have with your 7 members. They will likely demand items in exchange for research.

They are however, by far the most powerful researchers of the game (currently).
>>
>>1432418
Oh cool so they're not total failures. If we fix this stuff with Big Mt. will they join our cause?
>>
>>1432420
The implication is they are with our cause, just they expect to be catered to to some degree.
>>
>>1432420
Technically speaking they count as a Friendly/Allied faction right now, permitting you their research.

To have them become fully integrated to your cause would require you to figure out a way for them to believe in the American Dream again, but then of course, alerting them to the presence of the outside world might have unforeseen consequences.

An OLD world radar array that is fully operational and rather loaded with useful goods that they can now ship home to help rebuild other shit with?
>>
>>1432457
Well I would have thought that we A. Pay Mercenaries to guard this base with, and we B. Put traps and other warnings. The NCR already knows that Black Mountain has a working radar station. They just don't care for now. It's not like they have the manpower to take it anyway
>>
>>1432457
That wouldn't really help them.

Consider the fact that they would need a way of pinpointing the broadcast, something quite rare for their tech level, then they need to gather the troops and gear to go and capture the place. Something they are lacking given the fact that they are placing troops in defensive positions to prepare for the second battle of the dam. They lack the numbers to go and chase every single random threat to them when there is a major one looming on the horizon.

Also, they would then need to find a way to disassemble and transport that shit across the wastes, a place filled with bands of raiders and an active enemy force fighting them.

Lastly, we can easily set up some simple defences and decoys to hold them back and convince them that the place is heavily defended.
>>
>>1432465
A drain of limited caps if we hire Mercs and B. Your forgetting the legion well know for it's covert strikes and/or BoS, Mr. House who could see the value in having the working station under there control.

Also just wanna point out again. Radar arrays do not broadcast like radios.
>>
>>1432468
Well it's a good thing that the Black mountain RADIO STATION isn't a radar array.

As to the Legion, they aren't a threat. They don't care for having the public's support and thus would merely see it as a benefit: it disrupts the support of the NCR in the region and distracts them from their operations.

As to mister House, he already has plenty of transmission systems under his control (seeing as he controls his securotrons remotely) with his access to the New Vegas Radio Station.
>>
>>1432468
QM said that we have the caps to do whatever we want as long as it's not about a settlement. hiring 15 or so mercs would be like 10k caps at most. As for the Legion, we are very far inland from any Legion bases, especially cottonwood cove. If they want to strike, their team is going to be small and cut off. As long as our defences are good and we have good mercs, we'll be fine.

The BoS are not in any position to start attacking and taking things from outside places
>>
>>1432469
>>1432471
I'm retarded. I thought black mountain was radar, this is what I get for posting and waking up. My bad.

To your deepest regret, you never were able to get that Gold. You realized it would have weighed you down and your collar would have exploded before you could escape.

You remember Elijah is probably dead inside the Vault with the gold, and how real nations like the NCR and America once used gold to back their actual currencies.

You wonder if its possible to back there with a Big MT cutting tool of sorts and get into that Vault.

But that would also mean going back to the hellhole of the Sierra Madre.
>>
>>1432473
And your right. It's only a 100 men, now what happens when more then 100 come? We are a monster but that does not mean we're always gonna be inviable or be everywhere that's attacked.

You guys need to stop thinking with an into of 3 and instead put that 10 on. We need to subtlety gain power. Not just start broadcasting and hiring mercs which most likely have legion spies in some or report to either side in some fashion. This is an actual war thing, not a set designed game with 1 ending. Enemies would do logic and tactical stuff.

>Sit down at the Sink with Blind Diode Jefferson and try to make some recorded messages from yourself and music to go with it
>Look through Big MT's files for some old American Propaganda tapes

You also consider ways to bring down the Alien's shield.
CHOOSE:
>Plan of assault! - Focus on creating a wavelength modulation that takes the shields down in one big burst, just long enough for you and some assembled Big MT forces to attack through the front door until you can get inside to disrupt their shields
>Plan of sneak! - Attempt to sneak into the ship single handed, you believe there are some tunnel networks and hidden paths that might go under the shields to get you there.

>>1432572
>>
>>1432568
Oh yeah, just so you guys know, since we're on a rule of 3, our 4th or next 1 will net us the equivalent to a 100.
>>
>>1432662
That isn't how Rule of 3 works.

It's if you get 3 100's or 1's on a specific roll. Not every third time it reverses.
>>
>>1432669
>>1432662
anon has it right the first time, yes the next 1 you roll will be a 100. After that a 1s a 1 for 3 times in a row.

We ourselves aren't revealing ourselves and our ties to the enclave right? We need to take over new vegas first.
>>
>>1433543
Not revealing ourselves and our ties to the enclave. However we are creating a radio station to automatically broadcast anti-NCR and anti-Legion messages while implying that a third way exists.
>>
>>1433567
I imagine those are't too uncommon in the frontiers of NCR territory. New citizens and not much support from federal.
>>
>>1433585
Not true. As most of the border regions are not as populated as this, technologically as advanced as this or able to resist as this.

This is one of the few regions that they have conflict with the Legion, we are the people who know and can say for certain that the NCR is not invincible and that they are not all they promise.
>>
>>1433677
Well, not the radio network, but the sentiments are probably not unique.
>>
>>1433713
Almost certainly and that is what we are capitalising on.

We want to be the NCR but less corupt.

We will be the Legion but more Humane.

We will bring about a new world order to rival eden.

The Enclave but more likable

>Sit Moreno down and have him talk about all the positives of the old US and why we need to return to it. He will also talk bad about both the NCR and the Legion
>>1432506
>>Rolled 90 (1d100)

You had a set plan in mind, and understood that there were many possible pitfalls to this plan but thankfully you decided to talk with your brain and hammer them out.

You'd sit Moreno down in front of the Radio and brief him thoroughly. You yourself used a voice changer you got from Blinde Diode Jefferson, so as to not yet tip off your voice and involvement. You still might have use of being able to walk in NCR and Legion lands.

With such planned and overt talk on US and American ideals, it was unavoidable that many if not the NCR might immediately label this radio "Enclavist" or "Fanatical Nostaligia". But you felt prepared for that.

At first Moreno seems a bit microphone shy, and you have to prompt him to keep talking several times, mostly about why he believes in America and the American dream.

And then, as if tired of these repetitive questions, he gets pissed off.

And it works brilliantly.

He starts to talk about his life in NCR controlled territory, about being treated like a squatter, pushed out of his house and home. About how the NCR delivered promise after promise of food, saftey, security and failed each and every time. Raiders and monsters roaming freely, the streets unsafe to walk at night, the Legion at the doorstep. Everyone knows they've failed and no one seems to want to speak up about it.

His rant becomes a fury and you see the built up bitterness of decades of NCR abuse pour forth from his lips in a symphony of anger, appealing to those whom the NCR have failed, abused, even ejected from their lands for not fitting in. He stands up and raises his arms, yelling out like a master orator, and you wish to the gods this was a holotape projection its golden.

At the end of it he's left breathing hard, sweaty, but having spoken his mind. You review his message and feel its solid, you bad mouthed the NCR for its failures, corruption, and ineptitude. Moreno remembered to shut his lip about Ghouls and Supermutants and even chipped in a good word for a Super Mutant named "Frank Horrigan". There wasn't much talk about the Legion but it isn't as if the Legion was very popular in the first place. And House was called nothing but a "parasitic ghost living off of NCR's dirty blood".

You travel around the Mojave for a bit after that, wanting to see who has been listening. In places with heavy NCR presence like the Strip few people are listening to it (at least, not openly) and where you do hear about it such as in Camp McCarran rumors that the NCR is planning to silence it.

Sadly this includes Boone who isn't happy at all. He says for all the NCR's faults it IS keeping the Legion at bay, and this "third party" seems like nothing but Legion propaganda.

Ironically on the Legion side they hardly seem to mind, and like the idea of the NCR falling apart from the inside.

Other places however the message seems to stick better, such as Freeside, Westside, the Great Khans, and Primm. But these seem more to only reinforce the idea of their own independence.

Some of your friends like Rose of Charon and Doc Delilah who you feel more comfortable with admitting you are behind the program say that in as much as the NCR has its faults, there isn't yet this so called "Third Option" for people to pick and the only alternative is the Legion. America is gone.

You realize that although you can chip away at NCR support, making people believe in America is going to take more than words. You're gong to need action, and show people that a new American power does exist, something they can support and be supported by. Settlements need to have the "Third Way" available to them other than the NCR for protection against the Legion and the wasteland.

What if we wipe out a legion settlement and leave our flag and markings there?
