Welcome back, to the (belated) 80th installment of Mecha Space Pirate Quest. I'm Wong, your host, and you are (when you're not the various tourney pilots) Admiral Roarke S. Starwind of the Iron Kestrels Space Pirate Fleet.

Some of you may be wondering "Wong, where were you!? Where was the thread!? Were you attacked by bears and/or antifa and/or bears with strong anarchocommunist beliefs!?"

No, the truth is far worse! I, Wong, had underestimated my seasonal migraines because they were so mild last year, and this time they came in a relentless fury! They were so bad that just looking at a light source, like a screen, felt like being kicked in the side of the head. Worse, they stopped me from getting any sleep, further weakening me and causing me to get a fever. I ended up taking a miniature vacation from work to get better, and at last I am restored to my usual strength!

...but this puts you in a difficult position, doesn't it, because you weren't expecting this thread today and probably won't see it for a few days if at all. After all, this is the first time the emergency backup date situation of "if I don't post the thread due to extenuating circumstances, it will be either up the day after or a week from that day" has come up, in all prior instances I was able to communicate with you somehow. Fear not! I, Wong, have a solution! I made this thread EARLY (well, earlier than Saturday), and will use it to post fluff stuff happening during the break between the first half of round one and the second half.

Rolled 1 (1d2)

...However, we have a serious issue to deal with.

Last time there was controversy around the issue of the Blitz versus Valkyrie fight. Specifically, both of them feel like they are favored to win overall and were each put up against their worst possible nemesis immediately. Other players have pointed out that if they're so minmaxed having them fight is logical.

To tell the truth, originally I was going to handle this very differently. I had a long post explaining my philosophy of GMing, why I made the decision I did, what that decision was, and what specifically influenced me in that vein. It was a very long post. But then, as I was recovering from my headaches, expecting at any moment to feel my sinuses try to burst again...it struck me.

I was overthinking this. The tournament isn't, at heart, about who wins the ultimate prize. Yes, that's great for them, but it doesn't mean you're a loser if you get knocked out. You still kicked ass in the preliminaries to get here and you're still cream of the crop as both a pilot and a mech design. Consequently, putting as much thought as I had into the decision I'd reached (which I won't share, because it's now irrelevant), was against the spirit of the Space Jam in and of itself. No matter which side I picked, I was encouraging one side of the issue to take it too seriously and value winning over having fun.

No, dice are god and dice must remain god, only random chance can truly determine what is and isn't justice here!

If I roll a 1, the Valkyrie and Blitz shall fight! If I roll a 2, the Valkyrie and Blitz shall fight the Fiddler and Chimera instead!

Good to see you up and about again, Wong. I understand how much seasonal afflictions suck, so here's hoping thays the last you'll have to deal with them this year.

In a bar more upscale than the ones they usually frequent, two men are getting drunk. It's a bit early, but they have reason to celebrate.

“He really pulled it off. Man, what a show...” The more elegant of the two, tall and handsome and possessing truly excellent space-black hair, wearing a jacket patterned with the constellation of Libra, sips his whiskey with an air of refinement.

“THAT'S OUR BOY UP THERE!” Bellows the other. Broad-shouldered and built like an ox, his skin is rougher, his features craggier, his hair in the style once known as an 'afro'. Despite his tough look and rough-hewn visage, there's something about his smile that's impossible to dislike, an aura of friendliness and approachability that glows like a halo around him. Down at the other end of the bar, a group of girls in the uniforms of Red Siren's peacekeepers smile indulgently and raise their fruity cocktails to him rather than scowling and brandishing their truncheons.

“Walter Sato, I suppose it's just my bad luck that I might have to fight him at some point, but to beat the Loggerhead...for a Palomino Custom, that thing isn't a joke at all.” Alexander Grant shakes his head solemnly, then oofs as Gareth Rains slaps him across the back.

“Stop being so serious, if you're trying to make me feel better about losing, it's working. That's enough already. Smile, partner, we're on Auditorium for New Years, I'm gonna hear Red Siren sing live, and you...well, you mentioned you met a girl. I couldn't be happier for you, buddy. Drink up!” Gareth grins, draining his glass and slamming it down on the counter, “Barkeep, another two for us!”

“Come on, I've got enough debts without you insisting on paying.” Alexander groans, “I told you, I've got money.”

“Try to pay and I'll break your arm. I could use the practice, setting a shattered bone is good training for setting a fusion mine.” Gareth grins.

“I don't see anything humerus in that.” Alexander quips before Gareth can make a medical pun and ruin his standing with the police girls and the friendly bartender.

“That's because you don't have a funny bone in your body, gahahahaha!” Gareth bellows with laughter, earning a chorus of groans from the other bargoers. “Slipped past you that time!” He grins, and winks at the bartender as she gives them each a reload on their drinks, “You're more beautiful with every sip, darlin'.” He winks at her.

“That's what they all say.” She chuckles, “Don't get too drunk, handsome, I don't want to take advantage of you.” There's a sashay in her hips as she walks away. She's actually rather plain, but clearly likes the attention.

“You think the population crisis made women more friendly?” Alexander asks, speculatively. “Sometimes I wonder what things were like before the War.”

“Mmm, more women with green hair never means more friendly women, according to the history books.” Gareth replies with a shrug, “But now's now, and that's where we live, so we'd better deal with it the best we can. Still, that was a damned good fight, and to think the bookies didn't seem all that excited about it...”

“They're civilians, of course they cared more about the names they recognize, like Clintflickmock...Mc...Mcflintbrock...” Alex's eyes widen in panic, “McPrintdock? I swear, I knew his name a minute ago, I bet on him to win!” He frantically searches his pocket for the ticket stub.

“I was too distracted by that little girl in the funny hat.” The Wraith's pilot makes a gesture like outlining a point-up cone or the shape of a witch's hat, “I've never seen such a smug face or someone betting so much on one of these fights who didn't look like a real high-roller. Especially on two unknown competitors, too...it's like shaving your balls with a scalpel blindfolded.” Garret shudders. “How the hell did she get all that money, anyway?”

“It's better not to ask when it comes to pirates.” Alexander shakes his head, and then claps his hand to his face mouth, “...It gets worse, what if she just bet on the guy whose name was 'Victor' because it means 'Winner'?”

“You mean, she made a completely blind bet and it paid off?” Gareth's eyes widen, “That little girl has more guts than a Martian sandworm!”

“...Or it was her boyfriend.” Alexander suggests, rubbing his chin, “Maybe she wasn't casting it all on the line out of faith in her luck, but on the strength of her heart.”

“Mmm.” Gareth nods, “The strongest muscle in the human body. Well, regardless, a toast to Walter!” He raises his glass.

“To Walter!” Alexander agrees, “Still, I had no idea who was going to win. I mean, we know Walter's good, but that's a Y&H showpiece Bradley had.”

“Loggerhead, a name that implies someone who powers through obstacles. Equipped with a drill cannon and beamsaber, as expected.” Gareth nods, trying to look wise despite just having been paying attention to the fight.

“Fighting against Walter Sato, a man who loves the sensation of speed and has no patience for slow weapons.” Alexander agrees, doing the same thing to lightly rib his buddy, “The power of one of the Belt's most notorious underground producers versus a man who spends all of his time improving and fine-tuning his one favorite ride...”

Gareth snorts and elbows him, “We're both thinking the same thing, right?”

Alexander nods, “In the end, it came down to luck. Sure, Walter got some good hits in, Bradley was a little too eager to engage in close combat and when he finally got the chance Walter managed to surprise him by taking the Loggerhead's leg, but in the end...it all came down to that one lucky shot either of them could have taken.”

Gareth throws one burly arm around Alexander's neck, puts him in a headlock, and vigorously digs the knuckles of his other hand into Alex's scalp, “What did I tell you about trying to make me feel better, you bastard?” He laughs.

Alexander chuckles, his restrained and serious demeanor softening as he shifts his weight, drives his elbow into the spot beneath Gareth's breastbone, and shoves him away, “Alright, alright!”

“Rooms are extra, boys, and so am I if you like the whole menage-a-trois thing.” The bartender chides in passing, fluttering her eyelashes and pulling a rack of clean glasses out of a machine, drying them with a cloth in the time-honored manner of bartenders everywhere and everywhen.

“Maybe the population crisis just made women more perverted.” Gareth suggests, retrieving his drink and taking a swig.

“Hey Gareth...” Alexander changes the subject, looking a little bit uncomfortable, “There's something I've been meaning to ask you...”

“If you want advice on that girl you told me about earlier, I think you should tell her she's special before someone else does.” Gareth replies, “The one with the sad smile, right? Sounds like a keeper.” He takes another sip of his drink.

“Good advice, but that's not it.” Alexander takes a long pull of his drink, working up his courage. He puts it down, swallows, and after a heartbeat asks, “Gareth...where are the Ghosts?”

For the first time since they got to the bar, there's silence between them. Gareth staring down into his whiskey as if looking for his mercenary band in the depths.

Alexander doesn't repeat the question, just giving his friend time to respond and listening closely.

Finally, Gareth Rains speaks, “Green-faced devil.”

Alexander frowns, “What?” He asks, not sure at all what that answer is supposed to mean.

“A mech. It had a green face, like an old-fashioned Reformed Catholic devil.” Gareth finishes off his drink, swallows the ice...he takes his whiskey on the rocks...and crunches the cubes between his teeth, swallowing, “It was about four months ago. We'd taken on an assignment that, honestly, I had some doubts about. Something about it just didn't feel right...but you know how it is, the money was good, there wasn't any obvious danger, and you think you can handle things, you know?”

“What kind of assignment?” Alexander asks.

“A man named Robert Baljaag. I didn't know all the details then, some of it I pieced together over the course of doing some odd jobs since then, but he was a recently retired Jovian general. The funny thing is, instead of moving to some cushy upscale Jovian colony he'd got it into his head to go to Venus.” Gareth spins his empty glass around with his fingertip.

Alexander blinks, “Why Venus?”

Gareth shrugs, “Don't know, didn't ask. You know how it less. Less questions, more credits. He just said it was safer there, and that he had a grandson to take care of. A boy named Wyatt who was still on Jupiter and was going to follow him.” He looks up, large brown eyes full of mingled sadness and amusement, “Yeah, you're making the same face I did. A member of the UJCIDF brass retires to Venus of all places, and rather than take a military convoy and a UJCIDF escort he picked a civilian passenger liner and hired us Ghosts, and has his grandkid take a separate flight. He said we were perfect for the job, too, seemed really pleased to pick us up...” He sighs bitterly, “Damn it, I wish he'd been right about that.”

“Why wouldn't he want Jovian troops escorting him? Why two separate flights? The Belt is a dangerous place these days, and military ships are some of the few that are still safe...” Grant's eyes widen as the obvious thought strikes him, “Unless...”

Oh... Crap...

You know... This type of little in-between scene was exactly what I wanted to see before going through all the fights... There is a lot of cool and interesting characters in this tourney, and their short appearances just leave me wishing for more when they leave as swiftly as a fight ends.

Still, can't wait to see the fights, and whats going on with Roarke.

“Unless he had reason to think someone in the UJCIDF, someone with a lot of pull, was out to get him, you're right. Now that I've had time to think it over, and I've been on Auditorium long enough to hear some of the stories that get passed around here, I've pieced together some of what I think went down. I may never know exactly why we were hit, what he had or what he knew that he had to die for, but this blind man can feel the shape of the elephant.” Gareth references an ancient Terran parable, “I was out doing recon. We'd made our scheduled stop in the Belt, but we couldn't get signal from the nearest ansible satellite, so...I went out to take a look at it, see what was causing the interference stopping me from getting in a few games of Bluegill Joe. I was jumpy that night, I couldn't sleep, and it's probably the only thing that saved my life. I went out alone, and out of habit, I went cloaked.”

“It's proper discipline with a mech like the Wraith, don't stand out when you don't have a wingman. All of the sudden, a transport comes out of warp practically on top of me, and it spits out one big, ugly mech with some booster pods on detachable wings and a big old string of anti-ship mines hooked onto its back. I only got a second to look at it before it cloaked...yeah, the damned thing could cloak too...and rocketed off to the liner. Of course, I called it in, but it was no good, it was too fast, and my boys were coming out of the mechbay when it started pouring missile fire onto them. Naturally, we had a squad on watch, but when they tried to interfere it destroyed them in seconds. Chopped them apart with the plasma edging on its shields while it was blowing open the hull. I...” Gareth's hands tighten around the whiskey glass.

“I wasn't fast enough, Al. I froze up for a second when it rocketed past, and as fast as the Wraith is I didn't have the kind of boosters this thing did. I was close, though. Just close enough that when my sensors told me that the ship's engines were overloading I had time to get out of the blast radius. I floated, dead in space, while it ransacked what was left of the ship searching for survivors before it left, praying to every god there is it wouldn't notice me. None of the Ghosts made it out. Those it didn't kill directly with the plasma shields or gut with missile fire coming out of the catapults died when the ship blew, like rats in a trap. I'll never forget how cruel, how alive, that horned, carved face looked in the glow of the exploding ship. Evil's real, Al. Evil's real, and it likes to look at its own work.” Gareth looks into the empty glass as if it has answers in it, with an expression that says he knows better.

Alexander listens in silence. Sometimes, silence says more than words.

“So like I said, I took whatever jobs I could, wandered around the Belt looking for answers...and finally, I came here, where I heard an interesting story about a man who'd faced the green-faced devil and lived to tell about it. A man who beat it and wants the pilot dead as much as me. A man with his own ghosts to lay to rest. Admiral Roarke Starwind, who rides the Black Ogre. So I've put in my name, and even if I wasn't able to put on the most impressive show against you I'll be happy to share my knowledge and my Wraith and put in my time however I can for the Admiral, because I'll be there when the devil's pilot dies for good.” There's a note Alexander has never heard in Gareth's voice before. It's not hate. No, even now, it's not hate. It's fury. Righteous fury, hot and clear, like the pure, white flame of a votive candle.

“It sounds to me like you could use a friend there when it happens, just in case.” Alexander replies simply, with a smile as thin as the edge of a razor.

“I can't ask you to get mixed up in this, Al.” Gareth warns him.

“You're not asking, I'm offering. A man who talks about justice but passes up a chance to see it done isn't a real man at all.” Alexander finishes off his own drink, and gestures for two more, “Besides, I have a reason to stay on Auditorium a while too. You said this kid's name was Wyatt, right? Wyatt Baljaag?”

“No, no. Maternal grandson. It was...umm...errr...Stills, that's right! Like Crosby, Stills, and Nash!” Gareth nods brusquely.

“Right.” Alexander pretends to know who those people are, “Just like them. Wyatt Stills...he's interested in mecha, isn't he? If his grandpa was a UJCIDF General, I can't imagine him not knowing a thing or two.” Suddenly, something that has been bothering him a lot makes sense, “If he's a smart kid, he'd go to the one place where the military can't touch him currently. The eye of the storm itself.”

Gareth raises his eyebrows, “Oh? Interesting, you think he'll come here?”

“Think? No, he's already here. I've met him, and the military was trying to take him BACK. Routine sweep my ass, no wonder that sonofabitch Captain sold us out!” Alex grins, “We stay near Wyatt, we'll get our crack at your green devil sooner or later, won't we?”

Neither of them see the tall, busty, distinctly feminine silhouette behind them until she clears her throat to get their attention, an evil smile on her lips.

Some anons said it best. She's a monster of lust and hunger and will never be satisfied. Her desire to hurry things up just makes it worse since most quick ways tend to require sacrifice or offing people. Of course, when you kill people you need to make sure there is no evidence or witnesses so you have to kill them and so on and so forth.

In the mechbay, two girls are looking at a sword. It's a long, double-edged mech-scale blade, shaped vaguely like a broadsword.

“I don't understand.” Fatima reiterates, “What do you mean, 'you broke it'? It looks perfectly fine to me.” She insists with the excruciating patience of someone who doesn't know machines very well but is trying hard to understand, “Why were you playing with it, anyway? It isn't one of our mecha.”

“Ours? You're pretty quick to throw that term around with Kestrels property...” Karen grumbles.

“What was that?” Fatima asks, rather sharply.

“Nothing, nothing!” Karen winces, “Well, I have to inspect all of the tournament mecha to make sure they're legal, right? After seeing how the Fiddler, here, did in the primaries I was a little bit curious so...I made a second inspection. In particular, this sword gives off energy readings unlike anything I'd ever seen. Or rather, gave off energy readings unlike anything I'd ever seen...” She groans, pulling her own pigtails in self-recrimination, “I was curious so...I took the power generator apart for a better look, and now I can't figure out how to put it back together again!”

“So you really did break it. Alright, what do you want me to do?” Fatima asks calmly, folding her arms.

“I don't know! I've never broken someone else's mech before! Well, not for a really long time, anyway.” Karen whines a little bit, “Do you think Roarke is going to be angry at me?”

“Unspeakably.” Fatima responds solemnly, “He'll lock you in a hole full of spiders with only bread and water for sustenance.”

Karen flicks the taller woman in the center of her forehead, where the little scar from the mind-altering headband stands out as a pale dot on her skin, “Don't say things like that when I'm upset!”

Fatima starts to scowl, but she reins herself in. No, by rights Karen is like a little sister to her now. She must be someone to look up to for the younger girl, someone she can depend on, “Maybe I can stall, or have the order of the matches changed. How long will it take you to fix it?”

“At least a day to completely understand how this thing works, add it to our databases, and then fix it.” Karen replies promptly.

“A day? For technology you've never seen before and already broken once?” Fatima responds skeptically.

“Yes?” Karen blinks innocently, “Maybe a little less. I know that's a long time for me, but like I said, I haven't seen it before.”

Fatima shakes her head. In her own way, Karen is rather a scary girl. “I cannot delay for an entire day, but...if it produced an energy field, couldn't you...I don't know, substitute some other sort of generator?”

Karen looks at Fatima as if she's about to have to explain something very slowly. Then she pauses, thinking harder. Then she grins and hugs the Martian, “You're a genius!”

Yeah, I know. It was more just for fun and fluff than anything, and potential use in the future as an anti-beam/reactive shield mech. Having the AP sword is WAY better, and will likely be included in the future as a standard loadout for the mech alongside its Disruptor one.

Back to you, Roarke Starwind, currently enjoying a break from the combat during the halftime between the first set of matches and the second set. At least, you wish you were enjoying the break. It's awkward, with both the Avalonians and the UJCIDF here. Worse still, Red Siren ditched with remarkable shamelessness and dumped all duties of playing diplomat on you while she went off to 'take care of some business'. She acted like it was a pleasant surprise waiting for you, though, so you had no choice but to play along.

At least the buffet is good. You have Oda along, and he's talking your ear off about how he knew the Lightning was going to win from the moment it entered the ring. You've heard the words 'killing intent' and 'supreme drawing skills' about a dozen times in the past few minutes.

“...I am convinced he is secretly part Japanese.” The big guy says with complete confidence, “The spirit of the samurai is strong within Jim-kun. However, the fighting spirit of Gareth-kun also intrigues me! His moves bear echoes of the shinobi way. Even though he lost honorably, that doesn't diminish his potential as a warrior.”

“There are a lot of great competitors.” You agree, “So, when do I get to see your new mech? You donated the old Osano-Wo's frame to your Bosun for the tournament, and I know you got a bigger frame from our spoils. What's the secret? Why are you hiding it from me?” You nudge him with your elbow, half-ribbing but genuinely curious.

He just smiles, “Ah, senpai, I don't want to spoil the surprise. It's not ready yet, but rest assured...it is sugoi. A truly worthy machine with the spirit of the universe's greatest warriors, imbued with unbeatable battojutsu. A machine to stir everyone's hearts with pride and inspiration.” His nostrils flare with spirit, repressing his pride and clearly resisting the urge to brag, “It truly could come from a Nipponese swordsmith's forge in terms of both quality and elegance.”

“I'd expect nothing less.” You're quite honest in that. You wish Miles and Richard were here, but you personally put them in charge of making sure Caesar didn't escape in his mech to personally assault the Avalonian battleship and retrieve his girlfriend. As much as you want to encourage that. As much as you want to help. You're completely confident the Duke expects exactly that and has taken precautions.

“Ah, there you are. I'm not interrupting anything important, am I? Of course not. Starwind, let's talk.” General Fairchild approaches, giving Oda the same kind of look she might give an obstinate piece of gum stuck to one of her shoes. She has a drink in her hand.

>>
>>1297998
Well, connection mostly. In character we only vaguely know they knew each other. She hates our dad and we can assume it's because he got mom. Out of character, her early motivation seemed to be based on our mom, a promise she made. Whenever we ask if 'is this what she wanted', she quickly turned off comms. They have a history, and we know Dad's. Why not learn dear ol' mom's?
Also, give me time on that list. I'm making a kampfer.
>>
>>1298034
She probably just wont tell us. Pretty sure Caesars mech is already the Kampfer as well.
>>
>>1298051
No, King Swordfish is not the Kampfer. it's a Super robot wars OG unit. The Kampfer I am trying to make it like the original with the weapon racks, mine chain, and ludicrous speed. Naming it the Palatine after the ghost ship phenomenon 'Palatine's Light'. It is definitely not a 140 cp model though.

As for Fairchild, she is likely the sort who does see her cause as just and would rant about it if given the right push. She does like to talk down to people.

“Certainly, Hermione. We are on a first name basis by now, right?” You give her your most charming smile.

“I'd rather we stay properly distant except when absolutely necessary, Starwind.” She snaps in response, “I can already feel my good mood from seeing Sergeant Nunez' win ebbing away the more you smirk at me. Where is Clemmy? I want to see her.”

“Mmm. That's just too bad.” You say with that air of total satisfaction that comes from being loved by Clemmy, “She's busy, and it's a little bit awkward seeing you. After all, you already found yourself another blonde, right? Tsk tsk tsk.” For maximum obnoxiousness, you wag your finger at the pink-haired woman, “...A good boxer, by the way, it was a close fight.”

“THAT WAS YOU!?” She roars, “THAT WAS MY HOUSE, YOU BASTARD! You fucking pirate scum, do you even KNOW how much those repairs cost me!? The upper floor was collapsing because of whatever you did to it! I knew it was your fault from the beginning, but how dare YOU...YOU PERSONALLY...enter MY HOME and destroy it!?” Her fingers curl into claws, and she seems on the verge of hyperventilating with rage.

You shrug grandiosely, “I knocked.”

Oda regards her with a flat expression of disapproval, “Going where one is not wanted and taking what one isn't supposed to take is part of the pirate way. Along with treasuring one's nakama and always having one eye on the horizon for adventure. Blaming senpai just shows your own spiritual insufficiency. Tell me, did you ever have a soul?”

“I'd trade having a soul in a heartbeat for having the diplomatic leeway to shoot you both and crack this colony in half. The galaxy would be better off for it. Sure, a few women with potential might die, but the galaxy is full of pretty girls.” She grinds her teeth together.

“Just like you cracked Suleiman 1, right?” You respond, no humor in your voice, “You've got no right to insult anyone here. The only detriment to the galaxy is within reach of my fists, I'm the one who has a right to be frustrated that I can't just snap your neck and throw you out the airlock.”

She smiles smugly, “Doctor Clancy's wild stories aren't worth wasting your time on. Surely he just suffered a mental breakdown after the cessation of the project, when his prototype was passed up as a SOUL machine in favor of the S-Slinger. It's a shame, he did good work on Project Skywalker, but we have all the information we need from that already. It's for the best if he hides here, like the rat he is, with his brat, out of my sight.”

“Temeeee.” Grunts Oda, and you have to lunge to grab his arms before he draws his sword on her. It's a strain, but you force him to sheathe his sword against your own better judgment.

“Smart boy. I guess there IS a little bit of Christina in you after all.” General Fairchild laughs without any humor beyond cold satisfaction, “Or maybe you're still hoping I'll give you a chance to use whatever hidden weapon you used on my house? How pathetic, the so-called Boxer using a trick weapon to add some oomph to his punches. Were your gloves no longer enough? What is it, some kind of sonic weapon? A shaped explosive? A pilebunker on the arm of some discreet power armor?”

“Someday, you'll find out.” You promise her, and watch her smile fade as she sees how serious you are.

The fastest he did it so far is 95 minutes. Which is still pretty respectable considering hes beating houses down with his bare hands.
>>
>>1298185
It also depends on what house it is. And what materials it is made of. And the quality of the construction. As long as he can damage the load-bearing bits in the walls he could do it reasonably fast. It's impressive as hell and most people couldn't do it but it still isn't comparable to weird super-expensive space-age construction. It's a false equivalence, really.

“Save it for the Avalonians, Starwind.” General Fairchild rolls her eyes.

“Should I? They're been so polite compared to you. I almost want to make friends with them. You haven't met the Countess, but she's adorable.” You nod firmly.

“Your mother would weep to hear you want to befriend the cultists of the Green Men.” The General growls menacingly.

“Funny how despite the number of times you've tried to speak for her I can clearly tell your feelings were all one-sided.” You reply.

“Your father's fault.” She clenches her fists. “Nothing more than that.”

“Oh, just like with Clemmy, then? You try to manipulate some nice girl into your arms, and then blame anyone who takes her out of your reach regardless of how well-meaning they are? Disgusting.” Your tone is sincerely loathing.

“You have no right to talk about me you criminal. You have no right to address ANYONE working to fix the galaxy in that...that condescending voice, as if you're anything but a petty thug with a strong mech and luck on his side.” She hisses.

You wink, “It must really sting that I keep beating you, then.”

“A mosquito dares to think it won't be swatted because my hands are occupied choking out a real foe. How preposterous. I've enjoyed hurting the one Paladin in my possession, Starwind. I'm going to enjoy hurting yours as well. I'm going to hurt her a lot. Wouldn't be so sure. As is, the situation is one where Mars and Jupiter are not on good terms. If we use this to slide towards Mars, offer them favorable deals, pirate support through the belt, mercenary, even ally services while pointing out Fairchild is the reason why, it may turn some heads. Fairchild may hate us, but the senate is divided. Forcing a new front out of a petty grudge and making Mars want to go holy war on Jupiter does not help them. Likeiwse getting every pirate faction in the belt to side with the avalonians, leave with them, and giving them a manpower, command, and tech boost. She talks big, but if she pulls that trigger too soon, she'd be shooting herself in the foot.

“They really ought to assign you a diplomat for these sorts of affairs.” You remark. “I know something fishy is going on here, Fairy, and for once it isn't your breath.”

“Or a handler, senpai. Someone to hold a bitch's leash.” Oda nods in agreement, then smacks himself on the forehead, “No, I apologize for saying 'bitch'. Inumimi are a precious treasure and not to be compared to a filthy corrupt kisama with no honor.”

“...Fine words for an African claiming to be Japanese.” A tall, statuesque woman in an unobtrusive uniform with a dangerously calm smile and a witch's mane of long, black hair remarks, joining the conversation.

This time it's much harder to stop Oda from drawing his sword as he says what you assume are very, very impolite things in Japanese. The dark-haired woman and General Fairchild both smirk.

The dark-haired woman caresses the General's shoulders with an air of familiarity. “My General, I'm afraid nobody knows where Ensign Young is, he vanished from the group at the first opportunity.”

The General smiles at her, “Oh, let him go. He's off looking for Lysa, I suspect. He won enough glory on Qu'lir to justify a bit of misbehaving.”

“You're going soft.” The dark-haired woman croons. She looks at you, sizing you up, “You know he wants to kill you, right?” She's still speaking to the General, “I can tell. He's fantasizing about it right now.”

“Oh, she knows my name.” The woman responds confidently. Those breasts are nice, in your opinion, but there's something about her you definitely don't like. Something dangerous.

“Really?” On instinct, you put your hands in your jacket pockets, and into your gloves. “Has she accidentally called you Clemmy in the bedroom yet?” It's a blind verbal jab, but...

For starters? Less competition on the galactic scale. They want to grow and Jupiter is going to be stone walling them. We are weaker, but also less a issue when it comes to butting heads. We've got a lot of good intel including bit weaponry data which would work GREAT for their mechs. Mars fighters that are their own squadrons, the juicy bits of project skywalker, biocore tech and how to deal with it. The only thing keeping them together with Jupiter is Avalon being a threat. Removing that threat will make things fall. Not only that, but a ton of elite fighters are on Roarke's side. Even if their numbers are low, we have seen what 3 aces can do in good machines.

I'm wondering what the consequences of Fairchild's death would actually be. There's clearly other Jovian Generals and it really seems that Fairchild has been more of a detriment to The SSL than anything. Has she actually been contributing to the War effort in a way that doesn't involve SOUL?

General Fairchild throws her arms around the woman, but her rapier is already halfway out of its sheath, her pretty face contorted into a rictus mask of fury, “I'll kill you, asshole! I'll tear your eyes out!”

“So that's a yes?” Your smile has never been more smug.

“Let GO of me, General! I'll end his miserable life right here and now!” She struggles.

“Stop it, Major! He's trying to provoke you and it's working!” Fairchild is dragged forward as the woman bulls towards you.

“Just out of curiosity...what IS your name?” You have a suspicion. Just a suspicion. An aide being this aggressive isn't normal, and she doesn't look afraid of you at all.

“Your worst fucking nightmare you criminal!” The sword creeps further out of the sheath. You look sidelong at Oda and shake your head slightly, and he steps back a little, getting the message. Let the bitch come.

“MAJOR CABOT! Control yourself!” General Fairchild hauls off and slaps her aide. The sound echoes throughout the viewing pod, heads turning to look. You wish more of them were important guests, but the various notables have been scattered somewhat through the pods, a lot of the people here are yours or Fairchild's.

The dark-haired woman reels back, looking shocked and crestfallen, fading into sullen rage. She glowers at you, slamming the rapier back into the sheath. “You don't deserve a quick death.”

“Was that your logic before?” You quip. Cabot, huh? You should be angry. You should be furious. Instead, you feel a deep, feral joy spreading through you. She's here. She's right here in front of you. She's within your reach at last. “You must have regretted it a lot since then.”

“Oh, you are a quick one, Starwind. See you soon. See you really, really soon.” She turns on her heel, “Sorry, General. I just got a little bit emotional. It won't happen again.”

“I know it won't. Come on. We're going to get some fresh air colonyside and have a long talk.” General Fairchild turns her head to regard you with a steady, cold gaze, “Don't get too comfortable, Starwind.”

“You know, the more you talk the more grateful I am that my mother never had to suffer a relationship with you. With every word you speak, the more I can tell that you never really knew her. You may hold a grudge against my father, but he was absolutely right to keep you as far away from mom as possible. You're a monster, Fairchild.”

“...And monsters become legends, Starwind. Criminals like you just get sent to break their backs in a work camp.” The General responds nonchalantly.

“And about Lieutenant Farragut...” Major Cabot adds in a hiss, “Maybe you should look to what happened with your Martian bride." She taps her forehead meaningfully, with a coy wink, "There's more than one way for us to get what we want.”

You feel a vein throb in your temple.

>[Kill the bitch]

>[Kill the bitch]

>[Kill the bitch]

You take a step forward. This isn't going to be pretty. You're going to break her back first, you decide in an instant. Normally, hitting someone from behind isn't your style, but then again...she's never fought honorably, why should you?

Your muscles tense in preparation to lunge. Yes, both women are armed, but it won't matter. You're too close. By the time they draw, Cabot will be a corpse.

>[Kill the bi-]

“Aniki.” You feel a huge hand on your shoulder, it feels like it weighs as much as an anvil, and you look up into Oda's big, sad eyes. He shakes his head.

>[Kill the bitch?]

“I know what you want to do. I want to do it too, but if we do it like this...they win. You'll get your chance. If it was otherwise, I'd do it myself. Clemmy-chan is my nakama too.” He squeezes your arm, “I believe in you, aniki. Not just as a warrior, but as the man I decided to acknowledge as my commander. Show me the strength of that man. Otherwise...let me do it. I'll take the blame and commit seppuku afterwards, to spare the Kestrels from trouble.”

“I can't let you.” For one, she's yours to kill...although the suppressed, rational part of your brain acknowledges that there's a long line of people waiting to end this particular life. For another, you don't want to lose one of your best friends.

“Then you know what you must do, Aniki.” Oda smiles.

You smile back, and nod, calling out, “Major!”

She turns to look at you.

You give her your biggest, most genuine smile, and say with all your heart, “I'm so happy to have finally met you.”

>>
There's more you want to say. Mostly to Fairchild, involving Clemmy...but you don't, it's more ominous just to let them walk away.

Unfortunately for Fairchild, she doesn't get the chance to. The pods are connected to a small bay for Terns by transportation tubes, where oxygenated horizontal lifts convey passengers from the shuttles to the pods themselves, and this one hisses open right in front of the General and the Major, putting them face-to-face with a pair of redheads. One, of course, is YOUR strawberry-blonde, looking merry as Solday in a scarlet ballgown with her hair done up and an eyepatch that matches the dress. Even her pistols have reddish wood inlay on the grips that matches her outfit.

The other is a bit taller. Her hair is in rather a plain bun, and with her angular cheekbones and an expression that always seems just a tiny bit worried she isn't the glamorous beauty Red Siren is, but she's pretty and has a good figure. She's rather underdressed for this gathering, with sunglasses and the sort of clothes one would wear on the more physical sort of vacation, like a safari.

“...And that's why I was so happy to run into you, Regina! What great luck, meeting you at that bar. I was just coming to make sure the drinks would be delivered here on time, the proprietress handles a lot of my catering on the side. Oh, it's just been ages since I've seen you! How is every little thing?” The two women are chattering like schoolgirls.

“Oh, it's wonderful! I'm able to afford all sorts of new books with my increased salary, I added another wing to the family manor, and finally I was able to build that palace enclosure for my kitties!” General Hatsheput claps her hands together delightedly, “Chairman Luxol is SUCH a nice man and his sons are just SUCH dear boys! I was delighted to see them again when I heard they wanted to take their vacations here and attend the concert with some of their little friends, isn't that just the most wonderful coincidence?”

“Oh yes, what a wonderful coincidence it is!” Rosita agrees cheerfully, “Of course their accomodations are entirely on me, just like yours! Don't you worry about a thing, darling and I are SO happy to see you again and...well...guess who else is~” She trills, nudging General Hatsheput in the ribs.

The older woman buries her face in her hands, “Kyaaaaa, I've missed him so muuuuuch! Even if I have to compete with all the young girls, I won't give up!” She clenches a fist, fiery determination filling her heart, “I-I promised myself I'd be confident! I bought cute underwear and everything!”

“That's the woman I remember! If you defeated the Green Skulls, you can defeat a young boy's heart!” Rosita crows in approval.

General Fairchild stares, aghast, “What...what are YOU doing here!?”

“Oh. General Fairchild. Major Cabot.” General Hatsheput's smile fades from friendly to brisk and businesslike. “Hello.”

“Don't 'hello' me! I asked you a question, woman!” General Fairchild snaps, “Answer! Now!”

“Mmm. Your temper really hasn't improved since the Academy, has it? That's no way to speak to a fellow General, particularly in front of civilians.” General Hatsheput's smile grows all the more businesslike, only faltering slightly in the face of Fairchild's openly hostile scowl.

“Regina!” You call out, waving to her, “It's nice to see you again! Welcome to Auditorium, how was your flight?”

“Ohayo, Hatsheput-dono! It's my honor to greet the woman who helped us achieve justice for our fallen nakama!” Oda waves too.

She huffs contentedly, putting her hands on her cheeks and looking slightly embarrassed by all the attention, “Oh Admiral Starwind, you scoundrel~ I'm supposed to be mad at you and your wives for robbing the Europan Museum of Culture, but it's still nice to see you again~ Captain Oda, it's good to see you too. You always look so healthy, what's your secret?”

Oda puffs up his chest, hands on his hips, “Tea, and a refined appreciation for kawaii things! A healthy body starts with a healthy soul!”

“Oh my word! How positively charming! That must be the oriental wisdom I hear so much about!” General Hatsheput claps her hands.

Major Cabot opens her mouth. General Fairchild gives her a very pointed glare. Major Cabot shuts her mouth. General Fairchild turns her glare to General Hatsheput, “Why. Are. You. Here? These are MY negotiations, and I will NOT be undercut by you.”

“Undercut? Don't be silly. I mean, yes, it's true that rumor has it you aren't exactly the best person to negotiate with the Iron Kestrels and I certainly doubt that the Senate and Chairman intended for you to handle them by yourself, but I'm here to make sure the artifacts taken from the Museum of Culture are returned safely and the ransom for them is properly paid. Thank you for not bullying us too much on the cost, Rosita.” General Hatsheput pokes her fingertips together in a manner reminiscent of a shy teenage girl.

“Anything for a dear friend. Oh, about these friends...did one of them bring a female guest?” Rosita asks, with exaggerated casualness.

“I know exactly who you mean and yes, she's here. It's adorable that you invited her, just what I expected...but I'm sure poor Hermione doesn't want to hear all of this, so let's discuss it later and in private, hmm?” General Hatsheput chuckles, walking a carefully wide circle around the shorter General and her aide to come over and give you and Oda each a hug.

Fairchild and Cabot trade suspicious glances.

“Are your pilots alright? They fought gallantly, I hope I didn't hurt any of them.” You inquire, sincerely.

“Of course! They spoke quite highly of your abilities, but that's expected. Your Black Ogre gets scarier all the time!” General Hatsheput fetches some punch and sips it, holding the cup in both hands.

“That's my line, you're the ones who keep upgrading your infantry mecha and making my job harder.” You gently scold her.

“It's a two-way street, that. Two of my Lieutenants and some subordinates insisted on accompanying me. That's the tough thing about being a General, people follow you even when you're just trying to go have a nice vacation and see a concert. Or maybe they just wanted to ride on my invitation for free drinks and all of this luxury treatment.” General Hatsheput remarks, “Oh! And Lieutenant Mappa is one of them! You remember Jane, don't you Roarke?”

“They're welcome to, dear. They're perfectly welcome to.” Rosita smiles brilliantly, standing with you, the very picture of the gracious hostess.

“Of course I do. She's a nice girl and I'll never forget her...uh...distinctive fighting style.” You keep a polite face despite any personal opinions you have on quad-blade swordswomanship and how practical you actually think it is.

“Jane...Mappa, huh?” Oda remarks, sounding oddly uneasy, “That's a familiar name, for some reason...”

“So how is dear Samantha and your...you know...forbidden love?” Regina's eyes dart around, scanning the partygoers in black jackets, clearly looking for a fluffy head of hair that represents her own forbidden love.

On impulse, you get out your PC and send a message. It pays to be kind. You receive a prompt reply. Mohammed isn't sure why you're sending him to that particular cafe right now, or why he's supposed to dress nicely and wait there, but as always he's an infallibly good subordinate and does it without question. You smile at Regina, and say sincerely, “It's the best. She's wonderful. Speaking of which...get out your PC.”

“Eh? Why?” She does it.

You send her directions to the cafe, and wink at her, “Forbidden love.”

“You mean...he's...?” She squeaks, then glances suspiciously at Fairchild and Cabot, who are fortunately leaving while they still have the chance.

“Yes. Go to him. He's missed you this whole time. He talks about you a lot.” You smile.

She gasps, her fingertips at her lips, “O-oh my! Oh my! Oh my! M-my Moe...you really mean it? He's really thinking about me?”

Your smile widens, “Go to him and see for yourself. As his boss, it's my pleasure to make sure he gets to be with the woman he loves. Welcome to Auditorium, Regina, it's so good to see you again.”

She stammers incoherently, squeals, hugs you, Oda, and Rosita, and turns so quickly she nearly spills her punch, "LovelytoseeyoubutIneedtogorightnow! Moeeeee~!" She skips away, in a manner that doesn't befit her age and rank at all.

Thanks for running Wong!

Oh, and I'll be here late tomorrow, so don't wait for my confirmation on the mechs revisions.

To make things clear: Fiddler, Blitz, Dutchman, Pharcyde and Myrm are OK to go.

Walkure and Valyrie SHOULD be okay to go, but the last time I revised the Valkyrie was last year I think, so one of your rulings could have changed its status... So you may want to give it a look, but I think that it should be okay to go.
Walkure case is more about how missiles with many different multipliers complicates everything, but if my calculations are correct, it should be exactly at 140CP, and if they are wrong, dropping the SP on the wings by 1CP each should be enough to bring it down to under 140CP, as the tricky parts are only decimals.

Quick question: Do you need quick hands in order to use Quick weapons? If not, some people may want to change their hands...

Still need to take a look at the Pumpkinseed Jaegar, but I really need to sleep, and I may be ocupied the whole day today...

Chimeranon, if your pastebin(http://pastebin.com/HUtX5W9U) is okay as I remember, You should be able to make your other hand 0.75 too, in order to free CP to make your sword 4 Spaces again build it into the arm... That way should be able to be like Sato and don't need to use an action to draw it.

Well, Bethany is obviously based on the anime version turned up to 11, just like Fairchild is Hamon with the negatives cranked way up, so the VN version probably doesn't matter too much to this quest.

VN Beatrix is probably the most complex character in SM, and is even the main heroine/love interest of a few side stories and scenarios. Her one defining trait however is loyalty. She's loyal to the point of self destruction, and she justifies nearly everything she does with her dead lover's ideals (who was Iris's older brother that she ended up selling out to Axmann, go figure). Her big berserk button is disloyalty/betrayal, especially of loved ones. She respects Marai and Lise greatly for staying loyal to their lovers, while she absolutely detests people like Irisdina, Theo, and Schmidt for their betrayals.

Her sense of loyalty often conflicts with her utilitarian pragmatism. Ironically, usually when she tries to do the right or moral thing, she gets absolutely wrecked for it.

For instances, in Lise's route, she personally stays behind to hold off the rebel forces and cover her squadron's retreat (all the while getting bombarded with artillery), which allows Theo to sneak up behind her and hold her MiG down while Iris crushes the cockpit.

Another case is Iris's route, where she outright disobeys Stasi command (being branded as a traitor in the process) to uphold her agreement with the 666th and rescue them from the BETA. If she had abandoned them to die and attacked rebel HQ like Schmidt wanted, then victory would have been in the bag. Instead, she lost much of her battalion's strength helping out the NVA, Stasi command was destroyed, and the Berlin Wall collapsed. All this despite knowing that she'd receive no clemency from the rebels even with Irisdina's assurance of pardon (the rebels had been executing any loyalist personnel they could get their hands on; see Katia's route).

These CGs >>1298763 >>1298610 are from the end of Iris's route, when she gets captured by rebels after being nailed by rebel artillery and bleeds out on a stretcher.

VN Beatrix is basically a tragic figure. Her whole life was shit; her father, Abel, was a neglectful, abusive stasi fuck; she was lonely growing up in school because of her stasi connections; she was forced to train under Axmann (same guy who "trained" Lise) from the time she was a teenager, and the one guy who made her happy was killed by her best friend, and then said best friend abandoned her afterwards. She's someone who hates herself and what she represents, even if she sees it all as a necessary evil. She's very similar to Yuuko from the original trilogy in this sense, who initially comes off as callous and cruel but is revealed to be extremely conflicted and even suicidal from all the things she had to do. This compared to the anime version, who's sadistic, pointlessly cruel to even her own subordinates, and loves her job.

That looks fragile, active cloak helps with that some but really you'd only want to use the beam bushi loadout for balance and survivability i'd say... also what about a variable emw loadout? one that can swap between beam shield and beam weapon?

oh and most of the handheld loadouts seem... less useful in jet mode, heck jet mode really doesn't add much to it really but I suppose without it its not a harpy...
>>
>>1299054
Yeah... a variable EMW could do nicely
12K, 4 turns in use, rechargeable, variable. comes out to about 16 cp before space efficiency and with 5 cp of space efficiency it hits 6 spaces allowing it to be 2 handed. you then have 4 spare cp

making the base kills higher really helps the beam shield aspect.

It'seems still really hard to feel anything but hate for her after what I saw of her from the anime and Cabot here.
>>
>>1299091
I don't blame you. While the reason why I hate Fairchild is clear, Cabot comes off as a spoiled brat. Sure she can be professional, but it does not take much to burn the veneer off her to expose her petulant nature. She threw a fit at us for simply not dying. She screamed at Amos and the priest. She is used to getting everything she wants and slapping people that the thought of getting smacked back or even denied pisses her off. She has never truly tasted her consequences in such a way that she can neither get some smug revenge or weasel out of it. Not even sure if she learns from her mistakes.

There's a lot of irony there since the character Cabot is based off of was actually relieved/happy to die. She smiles at Theo in the VN right before he stabs her, and she tries to commit suicide via Irisdina in another route (ends up with both of them purposely missing one another, despite Beatrix leaving herself wide open, as Theo WTFs). I don't really see Bethany being a death seeker like Beatrix.

The only time she goes down screaming is when Theo betrays her and holds her down as Iris crushes her cockpit. Most of the time, Beatrix is poised and has a difficult time giving a shit, whereas Bethany goes to pieces and throws a bitch fit when shit doesn't go her way. The core of their ideologies is also completely different, with Beatrix being a selfless utilitarian while Cabot is mostly driven by her selfishness. Beatrix also loved Jurgen to the point where her final thoughts/words are always of him or his name, even stating in the prequel that she "couldn't live without him," whereas I get the feeling that Bethany is a fair whether friend and kinda attracted to Fairchild just because of power.

But then, one tries to act like a sociopath (and ultimately fails), while the other is a sociopath. These characters aren't supposed to be carbon copies anyways, more like inspirations.

Indeed. Speaking of, I have a list of Fairchild bullshit, just off the top of my head.
1: Being the reason why Roarke or bro never really got any support other than bro being used as a tool
2: The entirety of Suleiman 1. From indulging Jesus to helping blowing it up by shooting first.
3: Shit with That water world.
4: Corrupting sweet, innocent clemmy.
5: Corrupting, buying off, or killing officials to move up.
6: Pushing the Squilla's production without safety testing.
7: Watching Garret getting stabbed and waiting to steal our kill.
8:Blowing up a transport because she saw the tracker she installed put into a roarke pillow.
9: Breaking the desk in the Jaburo and not replacing it for Hasheput.
10: Trying to kill the Jaburo for publicity and dealing with her rivals.
11: Dealing with the green skulls.
12: Giving Rashad that damn circlet.
13: Making Jesus the public face of SOUL
14: Ousting Stern from SOUL and making it hers.
15: Using Athena as a weapon against her dad.
16: Ordering the death of the families of those soldier Naomi killed.
17: Trying to frame us repeatedly.
18: Getting our bro killed and doing nothing cause she's fucking the murderer.
19: Being a terrible Aunt.
20: Being a terrible singer.
21: Being Terrible.

Don't forget assaulting her own subordinates. She beat Jesus half to death after the failure at 16-psyche, and even Cabot, who is her closest confidante, frequently get's hit for saying the wrong thing.

The only person in the galaxy that General Fairchild loves or respects is general Fairchild. Everyone else is tolerated and treated well as long as they conform to her wishes, but will have to be punished if they deviate from those. That
>>
>>1299473

Like i was saying, that's one of the reasons why Roarke is in a unique position to get on her tits. He goes out of his way to annoy her and shatter her plans, and has zero respect for her authority, but she can't hit him. Not with political shenanigans, and not with force. I wonder how many people she has dealt with that she coudn't just threaten or bully to keep them in line.

>>1299375
Funnily enough, we take a lot after Char. We are a charismatic spacenoid leader, who is building up his own faction through sheer skill and force of personality, who prefers close quarters combat and kicking mecha.

Of course, they are also different in a way. Char is a sociopath that constantly hides his true character behind a mask, while Roarke is overwhelmingly direct in his dealing with others and is usually guided by his sense of morals and his feelings for others. Basically, Roarke is what Char pretends to be.
>>
>>1299159
Don't forget that Cabot is also one of the girls that Caesar might have been arranged to marry when he was a child

>>1299510
>Funnily enough, we take a lot after Char. We are a charismatic spacenoid leader, who is building up his own faction through sheer skill and force of personality, who prefers close quarters combat and kicking mecha.

It's even funnier when you consider that the character the other half of the terrible duo, Cabot, is based off of also fell in love with someone like Roarke (except he was more subtle and political, what with living in a communist dystopia), so much so that she used his red ace colors and maneuvers (like kicking enemy TSFs) after he died.

A good point, but considering it's Cabot and Keith I consider it a wash for bad things.
Speaking of Psyche, I wonder how much production power it and our forces have. With our cash and resources just from scrapping enemy pirates, we should be sitting on a good amount. If Psyche has 250 cp/per day assembly lines(so 5 assembly), in the 2 months or so we had it, we could produce 15,000 cp of mech. Rocs, Pumpkinseed IIs and Bushis would be cheap because we already have most of the parts for them, but thats still plenty for 100 140 models. Of course, thats not taking into consideration other places with factories we jacked. Makes me giddy to see what they try to pull.
>>
>>1300006
>15,000 cp of mech
That would be....um well then. would you look at that fine number right there
>>
15000 divided by 200 (a pricy grunt mecha/officer mecha) is 75 while divided by 140 is 100 something.
I don't know how many mecha the enemy has to bring to bear on us but as long as we have good pilots that would make a goodish... army? at least in gundam it would anyway's.
>>
>>1300050
>>1300075
It's a what if so hard to know for real. Still, CP aside we do have a lot of knight frames for conversion alongside harpies for shinobis or rocs. Really, the key in all this is how prepared everyone is for someone trying something. We do have transports for this sort of thing, and the Stone Soldiers were training. With what or with whom, I do not know, but it will certainly be something.

“Alright, ladies and gentlemen! I hope you're ready, because our next match is about to start! Wyatt Stills' Pharcyde versus the Myrmidon piloted by Inari Sune!”

General Fairchild, fuming on the colony at a restaurant, breaks a wineglass when she hears one of those names.

Elsewhere, the match is being broadcast on a holoscreen on Auditorium's beach, where a large contingent of UJCIDF soldiers in uniform swimsuits have forcibly annexed a beach volleyball net and are having a competitive game.

“Pharis!” Hisses Lieutenant Jane Mappa, “Pharis!”

“M...Mom!?” Lieutenant Pharis Sune of the Praetorian Guard covers her mouth with horror.

“Pharis, snap out of it, it's us versus SOUL. Get your head in the game!” Pleads Mappa, as Colonel Trevor Luxol bounces the volleyball from knee to knee and tosses it into the air in preparation to serve.

“Give her a minute, sir, I think the other team is distracted.” One of the SOUL boys requests, a big, brawny one with a rounded head and disheveled mop of auburn hair.

“Nonsense, Major Wedge. Striking while the enemy is distracted is the very basis of strategy. Prepare to engage.” Luxol grins, “Lieutenant Biggs, Lieutenant Luxol, you take point. Major, you're defense.”

Mappa preemptively winces, seeing her friend attempting to focus, but her eyes keep being drawn back to the screen, where her mother's headily modified Palomino is rising up from the mechbay, weapons in hand.

“An interesting bit of trivia. Iskander Interstellar doesn't own the rights to the Palomino name, but because the company heads own a stake in the design of the Palomino they originally worked on during the War, they still have the right to produce them under a different name. The Myrmidon is their flagship design, a competitor to the Palomino II, although it has more of a multirole functionality and goes above Bucephalus' own product in terms of versatility...but also cost. It's an officer's mech, through and through, and fittingly piloted by a veteran pilot. Gramma Sune, I'm still open to that drink.” Roarke Starwind's pleasant voice echoes over the comms.

An old woman chuckles to herself, checking the power level on her battle rifle and removing her beam saber from its holster, “I knew he wasn't as old as he looked. Young men never change.”

“...By contrast, the Pharcyde is a custom job, using parts from earlier Bahamutcorp designs, and piloted by Wyatt Stills. He's an impressive young pilot who keeps a cool head in a crisis.”

The Pharcyde, in its dark blue and black, rises up out of the ground, “IMPRESSIVE, ADMIRAL. IT WILL BE AN HONOR TO DEDICATE THIS VICTORY TO FREEDOM.” Wyatt addresses Inari Sune next, “IT IS AN HONOR TO FIGHT SOMEONE SO HIGHLY DECORATED, HOWEVER EVEN A DOG WITH A DIAMOND COLLAR IS STILL A DOG. THE UJCIDF HAS LOST ITS WAY.”

There's silence over the comms, then a snort of laughter, “How old are you, boy?”

“B-BOY?” Wyatt responds, taken off guard.

“I haven't heard that kind of talk since I was a little girl going off to fight the Greenies. I knew dozens of boys who talked like you. I wish a few more of them had come home.” Her systems check complete, she fires up her engines. The Myrmidon's blue head with its long, singular spike crest swept back from the brow peers around the obstacle, and spots the Pharcyde jetting past behind one of the pillars. Inari Sune tsks, “Youth is speed after all, I guess.” She speeds along the wall, keeping cover between herself and his missile pod for now. His mech has a similar color scheme to hers, but it has a more complex facial mask and two long horns with a spiky chin. She wonders if that's the fashion these days among young men.

“...And so is boldness.” She notes, as he zooms closer. What a prodigy. She's known prodigies before, she's seen them promoted and sent ahead into the cruel and grinding machine of war. She's lost friends, loved ones, at least two boyfriends...but there's no time for nostalgia. Predictably, he closes first. Is he counting on weathering an assault from her? Or underestimating her?

He ducks around the same pillar she's using, and on impulse she goes right, her shots stitching across his mech. One hits the handle of his flail (5 Structure remaining), and the other his left arm just below the shoulder (-1 SP, 4 remaining, -3 Kills, 2 remaining). She avoids the flail, continuing to rain fire on him, striking his mech's torso and right arm. (Torso: -1 SP, 4 remaining, -3 Kills, 3 remaining. Right Arm: -1 SP, 4 remaining, -3 Kills, 2 remaining).

He swings at her, and she avoids it again, “Decades too early!” She chastises him, as he ducks back behind a pillar. She zips the other way, and aims at him, one shot missing and the other pinging off his mech's buckler (-2 SP, 6 remaining, -1 left arm SP, 3 remaining). “Sorry, kid, give it a few years and...”

“WERE YOU ONCE CALLED THE SUNFLOWER OF JEGAL?” The Pharcyde's pilot interrupts.

She falters, “O...only one man ever called me that.” Her remaining eye moistens behind her visor, “Wait, wait...Robert, is that you? I heard you were...”

The Pharcyde's pilot brings its right arm around in two swift strokes, the rockets propelling the heavy weight of its flail crushing the head and the left arm of the Myrmidon. It's a hard decision, but Wyatt Stills is notoriously cool-headed, and as dangerous as that gun is the beam saber in close combat could very well end this match with the damage he's already taken to his armor. Besides, it removes her shield from the equation, “I AM SORRY, WHAT YOU HEARD WAS THE TRUTH. THE SYSTEM HE BELIEVED IN BETRAYED FORMER GENERAL ROBERT BALJAAG, THE FOUNDER OF SOUL, TO HIS DEATH.”

“I...see. You sound awfully sure of that, I heard unidentified pirates were responsible. JNN tried to imply it was the Kestrels, but the fact that there was ship wreckage left over made me doubt it. Either way, without proof, you won't make me regret my career for even a second. Don't get ahead of yourself!” She opens fire once again, but with her backup senses providing her data, even her considerable experience doesn't let her hit the boy's speedy, maneuverable mech.

“BELIEVE ME, I AM NOT TAKING YOU LIGHTLY. YOU HAVE MY RESPECT, BUT I HAVE A DUTY. I MUST WIN, SO THAT I CAN LEND MY STRENGTH TO DESTROYING THOSE WHO WRONGED MY GRANDFATHER, THOSE WHO TRY TO KEEP US IN CHAINS.” The flail tears through the Myrmidon's other arm as it backs up. Wyatt has had time to fine-tune it since facing the UJCIDF troops in space.

She activates all of her remaining thrusters, shooting straight forward and trying to kick the Pharcyde, but the kid is smart. He pulls back. He avoids her attacks, knowing it's only a matter of time even if that charge...if successful...could have staved in his mech's torso and ended things. Still, there's no hope for her to repeat that now, and she knows it. He pulls back, flail twirling around his mech's forearm. The Pharcyde is heavily damaged, covered in deep burn scars and with exposed circuitry showing wherever one looks...but the Myrmidon is missing its head and arms completely.

Inari Sune sighs, and opens general comms instead of just talking one-on-one with the kid, “Alright, alright. I'd throw in the towel, if I still had hands left. You'll be quite something when you grow up, boy.” She grumbles, hiding a tolerant smile behind elderly grumpiness.

“MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!” Lieutenant Sune wails, getting bonked in the head by a volleyball. Major Wedge whoops and pounds his chest while his girlfriend looks on and smiles indulgently. At least it's just a friendly game.

“Huh, that's funny.” Alexander remarks, “Jim won, Wyatt won, and I won. I guess the whole squad made it.” He and Gareth are overlooking the game

“Halftime! Emotional distress on the part of the Praetorian team!” Barks the referee. He's switched out the usual cane sheath for his sword, today it's a light, airy umbrella suitable for the beach. His loose, straw hat is one he brought with him, not one he bought on Auditorium, and the same is true of Ziemowit Stern's striped swimming trunks.

Thats exactly what I gave you:

Loadout 2 「ZA WARUDO」:

[Torso Mounted]「TOKI WO TOMARE」Range 412,5m, WA +2, 10K, 6 Shots, 9,6 CP, 6 Spaces, 2 ton.
[Head Mounted][ROADO ROLLA] Range 1400m, WA +2, 15K, 1 rocket, 3.9 CP, 3 Spaces, 0.5 tons.
[Arms Mounted] Armored Thurster Fists: WA 0, 4K(5K with the +1 bonus), Handy, Quick, 6 CP, 6 Spaces, 2 tons (x2)(12 CP)
43 tons as base (39.5 after 7 CP spent on Weight Efficiency).

Any of its missiles can one shot the Dutchman servos, and the ROAD ROLLA can even one shot its torso.

...Aaaaand its got the High DMG hands for the fistcuffs.

In Dutchmans case, his high WA hands can hold down my arms, and his Eye beam can explode my missiles if he rolls well, its understandable why he would choose it... And even more why he would choose to challenge me to melee.

Hmmm... The thing that gets on my nerves here its the missiles... they don't make any sense, why bother having two 20/4K missile pods when you already have a Beam Gun of 8K and Infinite ammo!?

Also, your Gun price is wrong, it should be 18CP even before space efficiency.

If you're going to use missiles, buy stronger packs than your ranged weapons, like 10 16K Missiles if you're going with WA0 zero ones...

Also, I know that you're still under the KK max CP, but -4MV for a Armored Heavy STILL SEEMS LIKE A STRECH, -5MV would be more believable... If not more possible.

And now I'm interested to see the final result...

>>1299078
>>1299054
Thanks for the help!
>Best loadout
My favorites are the Neon Samurai and "Cape and Sword", because they are really made with appearing from out of nowhere and slicing people up before they have a chance to attack you... Or even if they do, you can still probably block them with that WA bonus of the Sword.

>Jet mode
Its mostly just for movement, as being in Jet mode gives you -2MV, so even trying to put a weapon on its head would still be of questionable use.
Could give Rocs a challenge, though.

>Variable
Hmmmmmm.... I don't think that Wong outruled them for the tourney, only Energy Pools and Reactive Shields.
I Could try to improve Beam Bushi with a variable one, but I wonder if doing the same on "Cape and Sword" could be a bad choice because of it turning down if hitted by a strong enough attack.

>>1301112
Hey Dutch, could you give me your opinions on this? http://pastebin.com/hcRheUT3

Oh, also, I forgot mentioning, but the way I imagined it, its canopy cockpit on the torso should look like if you replaced the power core of a Iron Man suit with a Tier Fighter Cockpit... But with black mirroed metal plates all around it and trimmed with dark pink and blue neon lights.

>>
>>1301361
>why bother having two 20/4K missile pods when you already have a Beam Gun of 8K and Infinite ammo!?
So you can volley fire them into fuckers I imagine.
>>
>>1301365
Its not an armored core tho.
>>
>>1301369
Also, yes. Volleys good. Guaranteed hits good.
>>
>>1301361
The gun has a 75% reduced range, rounded down to 8/400m. it's legit.
>>
>>1301367
Oh, that explains the lesser range... Maybe its also clip fed, gotta check that.

>>1301369
4K volley? Seriously? It doesn't helps that much when you are in that level of CP.
Unless you really want to ablate someone, then it could be usefull.
Or if you want to shot multiple mooks... But swording then would be more lethal anyway.

>>1301370
Yeah, I know, still cool though.
>>
>>1301375
4K by 40 is nothing to turn your nose up at.
>>
>>1301376
>>1301375
Indeed. And as for the sword being better against mooks... well yeah, it's ridiculous. But chase down every mook personally instead of just MACROSSing everywhere?
>>
>>1301372
By volley are you referring to salvo fire? Because that seems more like a reliable way to *waste* missiles, given you'd need 10 degrees of success to hit with them all.
>>
>>1301361
Seems a odd mix, seeing neon for a stealth machine. Still, it can be usable since it looks like a more expensive harpy shinobi.
>>1301320
Well, all load outs have G-hands with their increased accuracy, and aside from Melee, they all have missile defenses. If I wanted a better chance, Standard or Guardian would make more sense since I can score clean hits with blast or simply chop off limbs. No, this is probably the only chance in the tourney for a proper full body mecha kung fu match.
>>
Out of all the Tourney entrants, who would win in a bar fight?

Rules:
-Starts as Free For All
-All the entrants are moderately drunk
-They do not carry any weapons
>>
>>1301519
Wyatt is disqualified immediately for being a minor. McClintock starts a shouting match with Alexander over his name again, takes one hard look, and then 'accidentally' socks the nearest Martian. Mayhem ensues. Last one standing is Inari Sune for being a Sidereal Vet.

>>

In the mechbay, a little witch is gazing up at her mech with puffed-up cheeks and screwed-up eyes filled with determination. “Hai, I can feel the arcane lens of reality focusing fate itself upon this moment! This is my spotlight!”

“Just don't get hurt.” Maxwell Hammer steps out of the shadows with a friendly smile, “Good luck out there, Akai. I promise, I won't take it easy on you.” He glances up at her mech, “A fistfight loadout, just as we agreed?”

“Hai, kouhai!” Akai has been a pirate longer than Max, therefore in her mind SHE is the senpai, “This Crimson Witch won't spare you even an ounce of mercy, even if you're nice! I must win, for the sake of my knight!”

Maxwell extends his hand, “Then, good luck!”

She shakes it with a grin, adjusting her eyepatch and flipping her helmet on, “Ohoho, you'll need that for yourself, kouhai! Za Walkure is a warrior's mech!” She poses, grabbing the liftwire and ascending, spinning around it, “My spell has already begun! Hopefully, your Jesus God protects you, you'll need all of it!”

“The Lord is with all of us, always. Even you, little Akai.” Maxwell mutters, kissing the cross around his neck before making his way over to the Dutchman and mounting up in preparation.

“The next match is between two of our own!” Red Siren cheerfully announces, “Akai Inazuma...I'm not actually sure if I said that in the right order or not...Bosun of the Storm Dragons, riding Za Walkure!” The Archen gestures, and the extremely gaudy pink and gold mech rises up into its place.

“GANBATTE! GANBATTE! GANBATTE!” All over Auditorium, pirates with the trademark forehead protectors of the Storm Dragons are cheering and pounding their tables.

“Aaaaand in this corner, Maxwell C. Hammer of the Iron Kestrels, riding the DUTCHMAN!” Red Siren pauses, “Darling, that design looks a little familiar, but I just can't place it. Be a dear nerd and give us some exposition, hmm?” The Archen snuggles up to the Knuckle Kaiser cutely, hearts flashing on its holoscreen face.

“Certainly can. The Dutchman is actually one of the oldest designs in the tournament. It stems from the Pawn, one of the first humanoid machines to employ a HMIS system, before Bahamut Corporation and Bucephalus Heavy Industries even entered the game, before Mars was liberated from the Green Men. Modernized and updated, it's a real threat and...and...” Roarke Starwind's voice trails off.

The Archen looks up at the Knuckle Kaiser, with concern in Red Siren's voice, “Darling, what's the matter?”

The Knuckle Kaiser's fist drones cover its blank-visored face, “I can't stop staring at the Walkure. It's even more gaudy than the original Osano-Wo. Look at it!”

“HAI, TEITOKU-SAMA! MY WALKURE-CHAN GLOWS WITH PASSIONATE FIRE!” The color-shifting panels light up, emitting radiance, “Behold, a maiden's heart blazes like the sun! Victor-kun, I'm doing it for you!” The Walkure's legs apart, it points dramatically skyward, then aims its fingertip at the Dutchman's approximate location, “Don't hold it against me, kouhai, Akai-chan is going all out! Beware the power of this Crimson Witch!”

Rolled 1 + 16 (1d10 + 16)

>>1303474
Very well! My first action will be using both y improved 7 Ma PLUS boosters to move from my spot to 1803, facing 1704. Flying over the Walkure so I can do not a drop kick but a tackle to her back! +1 for it being a tackle, and because it uses my arms, then my +2 hands will help there too! If this succeeds, you are pushed into 1605 and lose one action. Because this is your back, you take a -2 to evasion. This uses 7 boost to get there. My strategy is that I will use my technique to whittle down your actions!
>>
>>1303327
Bless you Wong.

Where'd you get the Wizard hat?

If you have a full cover in front of you, but you want to shoot through it to hit a enemie at distance, you can expose your head+attacking servo out of cover to do it, then your enemy can shoot(or aim) at you in the next turn... But he has to roll location, and if it hits a servo under cover the attack is just nullified.

Also... That was two actions? Shouldn't you be able to do this at the end of your movement action?
>>
Rolled 8 + 16 (1d10 + 16)

>>1303541
True, though you doing usually add the bonuses with your rolls. Penalties as well. Wong's choice there. If he says it goes though, my next move is a SLAM. That does My fist in damage(5k), you lose an action, and I can reposition you where I wish. No penalties since our weights are less than a 10 ton difference. Using one luck. Remember you -2.
>>
>>1303557
One action wong. I have boosters which allow me to increase my range in one move action.

>>
>>1303574

First, there are some shenanigans regarding tossing Akai. You can't toss her into the space above your square, Dutch, as that's technically one up and one over. You can toss her one up, and on your turn move into her square and face upward using your walking actions.

Akai, your flight system may be gone, but for the cost of one rocket I'll let you use that to flip around in midair and face him, reducing some of these penalties a little. You're now face-to-face.

...although personally, I think Dutch has done something extremely clever and probably won this fight, let's see what the numbers say.

Dutch, I'm making Akai reroll her dodge here >>1303647 because with that in mind she's dodging at +13. You may keep your result from >>1303642 or reroll it, as you wish.
>>
>>1303678
One Rocket? Hmmm... It seems fair and logic... I don't think that I really deserve this chance, but Akai would never let something like this go to waste and would not hesitate to do it.

So yeah, Shoot the rocket, spin around, I'm shooting the one from the Head though, as it exploding still in it could be a problem for my Torso.
>>
Rolled 1 + 13 (1d10 + 13)

>>
>>1303678
I'll keep the first roll, though this will force me to be clever. Next action may be using my momentum to maneuver behind her, get some distance, and do a starwind kick. Bit flashy, but would allow me to get behind her and do some damage. Using the missile likely uses her aim though.
>>
>>1303709

>>1303720
May as well, this is turning into a spectacular fight.
>>
Both mecha boost behind a pillar for cover, moving in leaps and bounds towards the center of the arena.

To nobody's surprise, Akai leaves cover first. Her mech spreads its arms out wide, bristling with missiles as she starts aiming for the Dutchman's hiding place, “Pillars aren't any good against the magic of love!” She announces, "「KOI, YUUSHA」!" She puffs up with determination, ready to defend herself against a charge...

...or so she thinks.

The Dutchman's singular eye glows like a hellish coal as its spiky, green body jets through space, its booster sending contrails of light blazing behind it. Kicking off the obstacles, it jets around behind Za Walkure, aiming for a tackle.

“Hayai! F-FASTAAAAAAH!” Za Walkure zips ahead of the grab, but its back is still to the Dutchman, and it comes to a screeching halt as the green mech grabs ahold of it by the primary dorsal thrusters, throwing it into the air with such force that it tears the thrusters loose and the system shuts down to calculate a reroute to avoid exploding.

“W-warui!” Akai grabs for a joystick. Time for emergency maneuvers, “Taishou-sama, help me! ROADO ROLLA!” She fires a missile from her mech's head, the laws of physics spinning her around...and silhouetted against the light, she gazes down into the pitiless singular eye of the Dutchman.

“All this time around the Admiral, and you still haven't learned yet? I'll show you the real mecha martial arts!” And with that, the storm of fists is unleashed.

[Continued]
>>
>>1303725
Uhhhh So reboot the Thursters duration for +1? Or is it cumulative?
>>
>>1303725

>>
>>1303742

>>
>>1303781
>>1303782

>>
Was the rocket thing a one time only deal? I'm technically just without propulsion, not under a powerplant shutdown.
>>
>>1303793
Yeah, Akai's been drawing the short end of the stick most of the time.
>>
Rolled 6 (1d6)

So let me see if I follow this.

Akai starts the turn down an action from being slammed and uses the other to turn around with a rocket.

Dutch punches her once, reducing her Torso SP to 3 and lengthening the timer on the thruster reboot. He then does a Starwind kick flying into the air which misses.

However...now it's her turn, and if she Rocket Roundabouts to spin again, she has one action and can go for a grappling maneuver.

>>1303782
>>1303781

Which fails. Dutchman, your turn again, and let's see how much the timer goes up by...
>>
>>1303803

“N-Nameru na, baka kouhai!” Akai squeals, as the Dutchman pummels her again, knocking her torso thrusters even further out of alignment and forcing more frantic recalculations from her onboard systems (Torso SP reduced to 3).

He zips around her and aims a kick at her back, but all of her wild flailing and the residual momentum from shooting a rocket cause him to miss narrowly. She tries to grab him, but misses in her dizziness, “Uwuuuu~” With a pout on her face, she readies herself for the next assault, opening her rocket bay to reorient herself.

Maxwell's movements are worthy of a retired ace. It's been years since he really fought someone, but already, he can feel the rust shaking off. His mech zips back and forth, angling itself perfectly and launching a double-footed thruster kick right into Akai's rocket harmonica.

“N-Nani?” The small girl's face goes pale. Fortunately, she has a very short life to flash before her eyes, she hits eject with surpassing quickness, the Dutchman throwing up its arms to catch and shield her cockpit ball as the Walkure's torso explodes in a dazzling fusillade of fireworks.

“I'LL BATTER HIS TEETH OUT WITH MY POMMEL!” Vows a young and normally very calm man with snow-white hair and a blue cape in one of the viewing pods, before the Sun Knight, older and taller with radiant golden hair, yanks him back down by the ear.

“Don't be absurd, Sir Gainsborough. They're friends. He gave her an honorable defeat. If you want to avenge her honor yourself, petition to face him in the next round.” Sir Letholdus advises.

The Countess nods firmly, “No embarrassing us with duels outside le arena si vous plait. Sir Hammer is le kind and noble chevalier mon dear Rowarc relies on for the care of the children under le Kestrels' wing.” She munches cheerfully on a handful of some sort of thin crispy things with melted cheese, “Oui, tres delectable~ What are zese called again, Sir Gainsborough?”

“Nachos, Countess. They're called nachos, a traditional Solar System party dish.” The young man sighs, getting back to work. Even being a winner doesn't exempt you from having to wait on your boss.

...Or does it, “Sir Gainsborough, you are tres distracted, are you not? Fuwah. Please, go see to your mademoiselle, I shall be perfectly safe in your absence.” Loriette Marie le Kennedy smiles radiantly, “I know, as firmly as I know ze goodness of the Lady, that none shall dare destroy le peace. Go to her. Adieu. Shoo. Shoo shoo shoo! Follow your heart!” She practically chases him away.

Red Siren announces, of course, that the Dutchman won and will be going on to the next round. No, the narrator didn't forget, that would be silly.

Akai's cockpit ball is damaged, it takes a team of mechanics led by Maxwell himself to pry it open. He peers inside, autowrench in hand, “Are you alright?”

“H-hai.” The huddled girl sniffles a little, “That...it was too one-sided, I didn't get to look cool in front of Victor at all! I don't mind losing, but...but Taishou-sama and Victor-kun must be...” She hugs herself in teenage girl sorrow.

“Must be very proud of you. You did leagues better than my first battle against someone serious.” Max chides her gently, with a smile, “Spirit is good, but pilots are like meat. They get tenderized, seasoned a little, and once they pass through the fire they're all ready. Experience is what you need, and this was a dose of it.”

“Uuuu...you're just saying that because you're hungry, kouhai.” Akai grumbles, getting up and taking his hand to clamber out.

“Fighting does that. Uh. Whatever the opposite of a kowhye is.”

“Senpai. You have won the right to call me senpai.” Akai informs him with a trace of smugness. Then she shrinks back, spotting a familiar silhouette at the doors of the mechbay, his Avalonian uniform crisp and clean and a bouqet of flowers in his hands, “V-Victor! But I...but I didn't even get to show off the special 'Love-Love Victor-Kun' color scheme setting on Za Walkure. I didn't impress him at all...”

“You don't really think he's disappointed in you, do you?” Max chides her again, “You're too smart for that. Look, he's worried about you. Clearly you already impressed him. That trick with the rockets certainly impressed me. Look, I know how tempting it is to angst and feel sorry for yourself, but...you're a great girl, Akai, and he knows it. Now I want you to go out there, take his hand, smile, tell him you're alright, and then go get ice cream.”

She blinks, “Ice cream?”

He nods, “Win or lose, if someone did their best, they deserve ice cream.”

Her pout wavers, then she smiles and nods, “Thanks, Kouhai! You're a reliable subordinate even if you have no talent whatsoever for magic!” She bounces off the lip of the cockpit ball's hatch, and runs over to Victor. Max shades his eyes with one hand and watches with a smile as she takes the flowers, sniffs them, then grabs the boy by the hand and drags him off. Presumably for ice cream.

Three more fights to go before the end of the round.

Valkyrie vs Blitz OR Chimera vs Fiddler depending on who's around Sunday night.

There's also No Count versus Pumpkinseed Jager.

They're not random to her, but Mai IS Martian.

There is him being a brainwashed fanatic too.

Wait, who?
>>
>>1304183
Victor? He IS Avalonian, right? There's no way I messed that up.
>>
>>1304183
Victor.
Which is a hilarious complaint for a Martian to have.

It's true though.

I'm sure if he works hard though, he'll be able to stop worshiping his oppressor one day.

Well, time to see how the dice will roll on these ones.

Hopefully we'll see longer fights with the last 3 matches. But yeah, the dice definitely favored someone today.

Meh. I'm fine with the quick fights as someone who doesn't have a mech to play.

Drives home how actually serious combat is, and how much of a wrecker Roarke really is. Besides we already had a couple drawn out fights.

I'm excited for seeing the eventual Victor take him on. Or maybe we can challenge the three powers for a duel to win our hostage, get an excuse to face Cabot and kill her.

Digression, but I like the idea of asking them all for unreasonable concessions for our captive so we get to keep her.

And then announcing our multi-wedding at the end.

Poor Akai, that was even more of a curbstomp then the Gyrfalcon vs.the Sagiser and the power of cristmas cake.

Hey Wong, i have a suggestion. Someone asked a few days ago about how the competitors did in the previous rounds. Would it be a good idea to give the losers of these fights more impressive wins in the preliminaries, storywise? It'would save some face, and give a reason why the Kestrels would be interested in them despite losing here.
>>
Thank goodness Akai is ok. I was worried while i was reading that

I hope Skunk has lots of insulin because their amount of sweetness will give him space diabetus

And so the dutchman wrecks house, as is the natural state of the world
>>

yes, i imagine that Aiki got to push some face's in the preliminaries.
>>

*Akai
whoops

>Victor versus Roarke

That really would not be a fair fight, Roarke has much higher stats and a much more expensive mech.

Victor does not want to die

Let's hope I don't get banned today. I naively posted a thread on /tg/ asking why we don't replace alignments with a political compass, and already the shitflinging has begun. It's sad, I genuinely forgot that these aren't the times when we could discuss such a topic like adults on that board.

>why we don't replace alignments with a political compass
Wong pls.
>>
>>1305359
Wouldn't you need two compasses, since the distinction between what you do and how you do it is important? Otherwise, just thinking of the alignment system as a compass would preclude replacing it.
>>
>>1305359
You can't post that kind of stuff at any time. That kind of stuff always attracts shit posters no matter the times
>>
>>1305368

I want "Detect NAP Violators" and "Smite Communist" to be class features.
>>
>>1305359
>Alignments suck, we all know alignments suck, having people with a little nametag that says "hello, I'm evil" is dumb.
>Why not just replace that shit with the political compass, which says more about who your character is as a person and who they associate with?

You weren't exactly asking for maturity Wo
