> A. Go into the party with your friends.Although you aren’t sure how you feel about Quantum guys guarding the entrance, you feel yourself loosen up as you see a 6-pack of beers floating through the air slip by the two men unnoticed. As soon as the alcohol passes through the doorway, you see a guy in a varsity jacket who was invisible a second ago fade into view, holding the 6-pack. He high-fives another guy, and they enter the party. You smile. Guess Quantum can’t keep track of every shady thing going on, right? Actually, these officers look bored; almost as if guarding a college girl’s party is under their pay grade.Well, it probably is. Your group enters the party with no issue, as you use as much false confidence as you can when the officers eye you over. The party is in a large common room with two symmetrical curving staircases leading upstairs. The lights are dimmed, house music is pumping through state of the art speakers, and the cheers of dozens of drunk college students nearly drown any chance of conversation.“Sick. Alright, I’ll see you guys around,” Mohammed says over the noise, and makes his way into the mass of people. Without missing a beat, Roquette follows him. You turn to ask TK what his plan is only to see his green bandana and blonde hair disappear into the crowd. Only Mark remains. He looks around, looking a bit overwhelmed. You take a moment to scan the party. To your surprise, you see Kathryn here. She’s currently talking to a short Chinese guy with shaggy black hair and a white beanie, and a blonde guy with sideburns. They look more like they’re talking business than enjoying themselves at a party.By the staircase, you see a group of punk-stylized… students? You’ve never seen them around before, and considering Avarice Academy’s strict policies on piercings and tattoos, you doubt they go to your school. You see Mohammed leading Roquette up the stairs, likely toward the bedrooms. Good for him, you guess. You shrug and reach into your pants’ pocket, pulling out a bottle of beer. You will never not be thankful for subspace. Well, you’re here at the party. No turning back now.> A. Go see what Kathryn is up to.> B. Go talk to the punk rockers, see what their deal is.> C. He turns to face you, a bit confused. “Vut are you doing?” he asks.“Just… reassuring my good pal,” you respond.“Ah… Vell, stop,” he manages, then politely takes your hand and pulls it off. You know he was trying to be gentle, but your aching hand reminds you of how strong of a grip he has. “Vell… what do you want to do?” Mark continues. “I don’t know, you were the one that abducted me and brought me here. I kind of thought you would have a plan,” You reply, giving him an annoyed look. Mark turns and opens his mouth as if he’s about to respond, but then a smile spreads across his face.“What? What are you doing?” You ask, getting even more annoyed. He simply points, and you turn to see what he’s looking at. You find that a grin of your own has formed on your lips, as your gaze discovers a ping pong table covered in solo cups and surrounded by party-goers.“Mark, buddy, are you thinking what I’m thinking?”“You know I am.”The two of you approach the table, pushing your way through the crowd. Immediately you notice that a guy and girl are losing drastically; they’ve barely gotten any of their opponent’s cups, and nearly all of their own have been drunk dry. Their opponents look like the punks you saw earlier, and again, they aren’t familiar to you. One is a buff guy with a mohawk and gages, and the other is a girl with dyed black hair in an undercut. You begin to hear whispering and muttering as people around you notice yourself and Mark. It’s clear that you two have a bit of a reputation. “We call next,” You announce, just as the final cup is scored. No one argues as you take your place at the head of the table, and set up your cups. You grin as you make eye contact with your opponents. You tend to get lucky when it comes to competitions like this; and that isn’t a coincidence. It’s not against the rules, either; only active use of powers is banned. They go first, and launch their ball against the table. You almost disregard the shot as too high, but to your surprise it lands directly into the first cup. With a grumble, Mark downs the cup in one chug and sets it aside. They switch out and the girl lobs the ball. Mark attempts to slap it out of the air, but somehow he misses, almost as if the ball dodged. You and Mark make eye contact, and Mark drinks the next cup. Mark has a way higher tolerance than you, after all. The guy shoots his ball again, but this time he misses… by a lot. It’s almost ridiculous how much of a difference this shot was compared to the others. Finally your turn.(Continued)

You pat your pocket, attempting to recall anything that inside that could be of use.A rope, a hammer, your revolver? Well, killing them probably wouldn’t help much. You do have an extra ping pong ball… And what about your chaos spheres? Probably too risky. From a young age you were told not to use that power after you almost killed the family dog. >>1268911> C. Mark’s super strength might just overpower whatever they’re doing. You grit your teeth and calm yourself down. Now is not the time to pull off a wacky trick. Your opponents are being clever about whatever they’re doing, so going in and cheating with an obvious move would just make you and Mark look bad. No. Maybe instead of cheating, it would be better to… bend the rules.“Mark. Use your super strength,” You say.“V-vut?” He replies, coughing as he chugs another cup. You look at the table anxiously. You have two cups left. Your opponents have five.“We need to win, and to do that we need to be bold. If we get lucky-” you scoff, “WHEN we get lucky, the ball will land in their cups before they can do anything about it. Got it?”“Dah, vutever you say, dude,” Mark replies. You nod, and snatch the ball from the air as it careens far above the table. It’s clear that your opponents are missing on purpose every so often to avoid suspicion; what they don’t realize is that the previous turn would be their last.“You ready?” you ask as you hand the ping pong ball to Mark.He doesn’t respond. Instead, he slams the ball down onto the table. You watch in awe as it bounces and hits the ceiling, then comes back down and lands directly into your opponent’s center cup before they have a chance to blink.“W-what?” Shouts the undercut girl in anger. “How is that even allowed?”You smirk.“Passive power. He’s not tampering with the ball directly.”Mohawk guy simply glares, and tosses the ball back. You look at his cup.“You… gonna drink that? It’s kinda the game.” you say.“I don’t drink,” he replies, and hands the cup to one of the members of the crowd.
>>1268985Without delay, Mark chucks the ball at the table again, and even with your opponents at the ready, the ball finds its way into a cup. You can see them growing more agitated as Mark pulls off his trick again, and again, and again… Until there’s one more cup left.“It’s getting down to the wire. You sure you don’t have anything up your sleeve?” you tease as the punks across from you glare back. “No? Suit yourself.”Mark winds up his arm, and launches the ball one more time; but this time, when the ball pings off the ceiling and careens for the last cup, mohawk guy lifts up his hand in desperation, flipping the cup and tossing away the ball with telekinetic force.“Yes! I knew you were cheating!” you shout, thrusting your arms into the air. You lower your hand to pat Mark on the back, only to find that he isn’t there. You look down in confusion to see Mark doubled over on the ground.“What the hell? Mark, did throwing a little ball seriously exhaust you that much?”You shake him a bit, but look around in shock as partygoers begin to collapse all around you. One by one people are falling, red solo cups rolling around on the floor alongside them.“What the fuck-” you begin, but are cut off as you are blasted backward by an invisible force. There’s a sharp pain in your back, and you’re laying on top of a table. Cold fear runs up your spine as you see dark blood on your fingers. People are looking in your direction in shock, and after a moment, people are beginning to scream. Doesn’t matter. You need to focus. The mohawk guy you beat at beer pong has Mark by the feet, and is dragging him across the floor. You begin to limp toward him, but realize that in your injured state you don’t stand a chance. Fuck. The seconds tick by as you look around, feeling panic beginning to boil up.Oh wait, those Quantum guys! You furrow your brows and turn toward the entrance of the mansion, making your way outside… but before you can get 10 feet, several punks form a wall in front of the door, blocking any fleeing partiers from escaping.“What’s the big idea, huh?” Yells the guy in the varsity jacket you saw earlier. The punks don’t respond. He yells out in anger and swings at them with his fist, but before he can connect he falls to the ground, screaming in agony as he is lit up in a ball of fire. A girl with black and red dyed hair lowers her hand, smirking. Your eyes widen as you notice a body lying outside, behind the goons; it’s wearing a Quantum uniform. No one is coming to help. You stumble backward and push against the scared and confused crowd, making your way upstairs. You need to find Kathryn. You make it halfway up and stop. Contrasted against the mob of panicked college students is a hooded figure in an Oni mask, walking calmly down the flight of stairs. She wields a katana, and a second shorter sword hovers a foot above her head. You move to the side, allowing her to pass. As she moves by you, you make eye contact; or at the very least, you look into the black holes of her mask. Before you can say anything, she leaps off the banister and impales a punk with her blade. Killing… Yeah, people are dying. You swear under your breath for being put in this position, and you reach into your pocket. After fumbling around for a second, you pull out your dad’s old revolver. It’s a garish purple with the symbol of a spade on the barrel. It’s funny how easily you can forget that your father was a criminal. You’re not sure how many people this gun has killed, but you have the feeling that you’re about to add to its body count. You take a moment to aim down the sights at one of the goons below, taking care to stray away from any of the panicking partiers. This isn’t the first time you’ve shot a gun, but it’s the first time you’ve aimed at a person. After a taking a deep breath, you pull the trigger. The shot is REALLY loud, and the cry of pain from your target is pretty loud too. You lower the gun to see that you shot one of the goons in the shoulder, allowing for the vigilante to finish him off. You feel a surge of adrenaline, but feel that it’s probably immoral to celebrate. Just as you raise the gun to shoot again, you feel your spine tingle. Almost without thinking, you duck and barely miss an ice shard to the face. You look down the stairs in a panic to see a girl with a lacey choker and cold blue eyes climbing toward you, her hand raised and another ice spike forming in her palm. Before you can lift your gun, you feel a rush of wind blow past you and the girl is sent flying. She hits the ceiling and falls back to the ground, unconscious. Roquette is now standing where your enemy just was, and she’s glowing with a yellow aura.. She grabs your shoulder as you as you walk down the stairs, looking intensely into your eyes.“Tyler. You’re what, a little league? Just because you have a gun doesn’t mean you’re tough shit. I mean, christ, I just saved your life!” Roquette says. You shake free and continue downward.“You’re underestimating me. I can do more than you think I can.”She sighs, and continues after you.“This isn’t the time to play the hero, dude.”You approach the exit to the mansion, where only two punks remain. The vigilante has been knocked to the ground, and struggles to push against the weight of a goon attempting to impale her with her own sword. You see the dozens of mortified partiers just standing around, watching in fear. “This is the perfect time to be a hero,” You reply, and whip out your revolver, taking a shot at the punk. You hit him square in the chest, knocking him down. The vigilante jumps back to her feet and finishes off both criminals. She turns to you, nods, and dashes outside.“Fine, you want to save your friend? Let’s save your friend,” Roquette growls. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” She grabs your arm and you hear the loud WHOOSH of her rockets as they activate. You manage not to scream as you are yanked outside quickly and with little warning. You come to a stop and tumble into the grassy lawn, coughing and sputtering as you stand back up. The rumble of engines fills the night air, and you turn to see several white vans begin to drive wildly down the street.“Shit, Mark!” You manage to say before you are grabbed by the arm again. Roquette pulls you around the corner and comes to a stop by a bright red corvette. She jumps in and turns the key while you stand there, stunned.“Come on, get the fuck in!” She yells. You come back to reality and pull yourself into the car just as it begins to accelerate down the street.“Wha…?”You turn to see a brown haired guy in glasses sit up in confusion, along with a girl with chin length greyish-blue hair.“Sorry Comet, I need to borrow the car!” Roquette yells toward the back. She turns the corner violently, and you can see the caravan of vans down the street.> A. >>1269692> A. Time to bust out your chaos powers. As the corvette careens down the street, you take a passing glance at Roquette. Little League, she says. She thinks you’re just another civilian with a weak power. As for her, you have no idea what to think. She doesn’t seem scared or even surprised about what’s happening. On top of that, you’ve never seen her at school. Is it possible that she’s a vigilante? Or worse, maybe she’s part of a gang…You crack your knuckles. Either way, it’s time to show her what you’re made of. You stand up, clutching the frame of the convertible’s windshield tightly.“What the hell are you doing? Sit back down, dude!” Roquette yells. You ignore her, and lift your right hand steadily, pointing toward the road ahead. You feel a throb of heat echo through your arm, and a pulse of purplish light shoots out toward the vans. A second later, a spherical plume of smoke erupts on the street, about 15 feet in diameter. You are satisfied to hear the screech of tires burning rubber on pavement, and after a moment Roquette blasts through the smoke. You see that two of the four vans have veered off the road; one has collided with a fire hydrant and water is pouring onto its smoking hood, while the other has simply smashed into a wall. Your smile fades. Innocent people probably got hurt, and you’re not sure which van Mark is in.“What the HELL is going on?” You hear from the back seat.“We’re “saving” people, Kyle. You can thank our new friend Tyler for that,” Roquette replies. You’re about to snap back at her when you notice movement ahead, different from the usual. You look up to see the vigilante from earlier standing on top of the van in front. She holds up her sword, and stabs down through the roof of the front of the van. The van veers a bit to the side, but it seems that she missed her mark. You wince as you see the metal roof dent as something slams against it from the inside; the vigilante loses her balance and falls backward, barely grabbing onto the edge of the van.Shit. I mean, fuck, you shot a guy in the chest with a revolver. You might have killed him. There is a scream from the back seat as the vigilante collides with Comet.“You alright?” You say. She simply nods.“Great.” Roquette says through gritted teeth. “Glad we could help.”Suddenly, the vans turn a corner, and Roquette swerves to follow them. You open your mouth to speak, but hold your tongue as you watch several street lamps in front of you begin to meld and bend downward.“Shit!” Roquette screams, and slams down on the breaks. The corvette narrowly comes to a stop as you approach a spiked metal fence that would have meant a certain crash. Your group sits for a moment in silence, before Roquette slams her fist down on the steering wheel in frustration. You look around and absorb your surroundings. You’re in a decrepit part of the city; most of the lights aren’t working, and most of this area seems abandoned. A few blocks away you see a large factory. A wet, stinging sensation burns your scalp, and you recoil by reflex.“What the fuck, man?” You yell. “That hurt! That…”Your voice trails off as the pain subsides, and the dull, throbbing feeling from earlier disappears with it. The guy, you think his name was Kyle, rolls his sleeves back up with a satisfied grin. “Consider yourself healed.” he says. Before you can respond, the vigilante who had been cautiously watching from the backseat sits up straight, holding her arm in front of Kyle. A long and bloody gash stretches across her arm. She doesn’t have to say anything, it’s clear that she is in need of help.“Aw shit,” Kyle mutters. “I’ll see what I can do.” As he gets to work, you take a better look at the vigilante. She has an antique oni mask over her face, and two swords at her disposal. She is wearing kendo armor, from the looks of it, and….Holy shit. Holy. Shit.> A. “Kathryn?”> B. She looks at you back, cocking her head to the side. You avert your eyes, exchanging a look with Roquette. She raises an eyebrow.“Just… nevermind. Forget it. Are we going to go save people, or what?” you finally let out.“Yeah, what’s going on?” pipes up the light-blue haired girl in the back seat. Roquette sighs, and revs the engine. She pulls into reverse, then parks her car on the side of the road.“Short answer? The Razors showed up to the party, kidnapped a bunch of civvies. I have no clue what they want with them, but I guess we’re morally obligated to save them.”She gets out of the Corvette and shuts the door behind her. After a moment, the others begin to follow. Your group begins walking down the street toward the factory. You watch the vigilante; her arm has sealed up thanks to Kyle. That’s Kathryn, you’re sure of it. “Wait, Razors? What is that?” you ask, realizing what Roquette just said.“It’s a gang, one of the most bloodthirsty ones in E-Block. A bunch of crazies, if you ask me,” she replies.“They worship the Rift,” Comet adds.Great, you think. They’re not just criminals. They’re a psychopathic cult. But hold on…“How do you know all this stuff?” You say. Comet and Roquette share a look, then continue walking down the sidewalk. “Because we’re in a gang, too. Actually, we lead it. The Jets,” Roquette states coldly. Well, that makes sense, you think. In fact, you’ve heard of the Jets... But where the hell does she get off lecturing to you about how you’re a criminal? You bring your hands to your head in frustration. You never asked for this shit. You just wanted to get your homework done in peace. You just want to GRADUATE. Now you have to worry about getting shot, or arrested, or who knows what-You’re brought back to your sense as you feel yourself pulled backward, into an alley. You kneel low, looking around to see what’s going on.“Quiet, quiet… Look,” whispers Kyle. You look down the street to see a brick wall surrounding the factory. A large metal gate is the only entrance, and on either side stands a punk-rocker guard wielding a rifle. Is that an AK-47? You swear under your breath; you should have gone with your dad to the shooting range more often. You can see a parked van, partially obscured by the wall, inside. A large and muscular black man with heavy chains wrapped around his arms is carrying four or five students… One of them is Mark. You barely manage to contain yourself, feeling a mixture of relief and terror. Shit, okay. What’s the plan?> A. Flank around the wall, look for a weak point.> B. Can we take them?” You finish. Roquette chuckles and shrugs nonchalantly.“We’ve taken on worse, but with you and Kyle? I doubt it. We don’t exactly have time to call the other Jet-Forces… I hate to say it, but we might need to use a more stealthy approach. Do you have any other tricks up your sleeve? Invisibility, maybe?” You shake your head no. Roquette sighs.“Figures. Alright, follow my lead. And stay close,” she says. The 4 of you quickly make your way through the shadows of the alley, coming out on the other side and circling back toward the wall, out of sight of the guards in front. Without making a noise, Roquette points down the street with two fingers. Comet nods, and runs toward the buildings on the other side.“What’s she doing?” you whisper.“She’s gonna be our look-out, for now. Gain some height, make sure that we’re in the clear. Usually we’d have Jet-Force Sagittarius do it, but our numbers are a bit limited right now,” she replies. “Just hold tight, and once she confirms that there aren’t any patrols we can move on.”The three of you wait in a tense silence for a couple minutes, when finally you see Comet reveal herself from the alley on the other side. She’s waving her finger in a circular motion for whatever reason. You’re about to sigh a breath of relief when Roquette and Kyle begin sprinting across the street.“Hey, wait!” You say, trying to keep your voice quiet. God dammit. You cover your head with your arms as you run and brace yourself for any incoming bullets…. But none come. You gather enough courage to look behind you, and you see nothing. The gangsters that were there a second ago have simply disappeared. “What did you just do?” Comet asks as you finally reach the alley, doubling over and catching your breath.“I think… I think I teleported them,” you reply. “You think?” Roquette says.“Look, I don’t know. I’m new to this whole thing. I haven’t used that power since I was 10.”“Alright, whatever. It doesn’t matter. If we’re not sure about what happened to those guys, we need to move fast. You collide with the brick wall behind you due to the force of the impact, but as the second gangster lunges at you with her knife, Comet bashes her skyward, and hits the pistol-user over the head with her fists. You notice that she’s glowing with a light blue aura.“Thanks... “ You manage to mutter, holding your gunshot wound with your hand. Today fucking sucks, you think. The gunshot rings through the night sky, and you hear shouting coming from within the walls of the factory.“Well, there goes our stealth…” Kyle mutters. He turns to you and begins unbuttoning your shirt, getting ready to heal you. You look up at Comet.“What’s your power? And Roquette’s? I never really figured that out.”“I have potential energy manipulation, she has kinetic. Basically, if I stand still and charge up my energy I can hit really hard. My sister’s the opposite, the faster she moves, the harder she hits… does that make sense?” Comet says. She stares at you for a second, then awkwardly mumbles, “Uh, sorry you got shot.”“Don’t worry about it, I’m feeling good as new,” you reply, rolling your shoulder as Kyle finishes healing. You say that, but you don’t really mean it. It still aches. Kyle stands and helps you up, too.“You shouldn’t. I can only do so much for now, and the bullet is still lodged inside of you. I’ll try to dig it out later, but for now we’ve gotta focus on the mission.”You nod, and Roquette approaches your group, wiping her bloody hand on the brick wall.“So… We have a situation-” She begins, when suddenly Mohammed and TK pop into the alley behind her.“Tyler!” They say in unison, looking both giddy and full of energy.“What the hell are you guys doing here?” You reply, half angry and half worried.“Julie and Mark got kidnapped. It’s your own fault if you get hurt,” she says, and begins to leave the alleyway. “Either way, we’re losing a lot of valuable time out here. We need to get inside, fast.”“We can do that. We’ve got a wall of our own,” Mohammed replies. Before you can ask him to elaborate, he puts his fingers to his mouth and whistles. You hear the revv of an engine, and you watch as a truck on the street turns the corner and slams into the wall, crumbling part of it to the ground.“What the shit?” You say, and your group makes its way toward the crashed truck. The passenger side door opens and a man stumbles out, his skin and clothing shiny and chrome.“This is Matt,” TK says with a smirk. “He’s like, really fuckin’ rad. Turns into metal. He’s in my physics class.”“Nice to meet you,” Roquette deadpans, striding past him toward the hole in the wall. “Let’s get moving before more guys show up.”You step over the wall’s rubble and look around; you’re in an empty courtyard of some kind. Roquette, grab people using your speedy rocket shoe things. Matt, you’re gonna get out of the truck once we’re in and shield the rest of us. She answers by dropping the decapitated head of a Razor goon in front of you. You’re not sure if you should be comforted or disgusted.“Alright, then we’re ready. Matt, get in the truck. Let’s do this thing,” you announce. The group begins preparing themselves for entry as Matt climbs into the truck. He revs the engine once again, and steps on the gas. >>1272388The area is huge, it seems as though nearly the whole factory is in this one room. Metal catwalks line the edges of the walls, and you can see staircases leading upward. About 6 or 7 punks stand on either side of these catwalks, aiming at Matt’s truck. A large metal piston towers in the center of the room, about 30 feet by 30 feet. It is extended, and its piston head rests near the ceiling. You clench your fists as you see the muscular man from earlier approach the piston, carrying several people including Mark. A door slides open within the piston’s connecting rod, and before you can do anything, the man enters. The door slides shut behind him. Standing on top of the piston itself you can see a woman wielding a sword, wearing a mask made of a mirror-like material.“Bloodline! Come and face me in honorable combat!” She bellows. Her voice sounds garbled and robotic. You see Kathryn’s grip on her sword tighten. She leaps upward, bouncing from catwalk to catwalk until she reaches the small arena on top of the piston.Well.
