Welcome back, duelists, to the seventy-eigth installment of Mecha Space Pirate Quest! I'm Wong, and today you are...well, we're doing more stuff with the tourney pilots and then you'll probably be Roarke again, we'll see how it goes, I'm notoriously unreliable.Previous Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Mecha+Space+Pirate+Quest%2C+Collective+Game%2C+mechahttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Mecha%20Space%20Pirate%20QuestMaster Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/sSHs0QmFUpgrade Menu: http://pastebin.com/QQQzkFZeList of Moves: http://pastebin.com/HSdyCe2yRogues' Gallery: http://pastebin.com/E9ZcDLfGBrazilia's Kawaii Space Jam Gallery: http://pastebin.com/pZtRmbWSLast time, three brave men held their castle against assault and rescued ten endangered maidens.
>>1213620A moment of silence for those poor Bluegill pilots.
>>1213620There we are. And here is a freshly minted propaganda poster. Made three of them.
“So, what now?” James McClintock suggests. It seems like he's learning. As fantastic as he is as a pilot and a warrior, open battles like this aren't his bailiwick. “WE RETURN TO OUR VESSEL. OUR ALLIES ARE SAFE, WE HAVE THE STRATEGIC EDGE, IF WE CAN FREE THE OTHERS WE WILL BE ABLE TO TURN THIS FIGHT COMPLETELY IN OUR FAVOR. SIMPLE TACTICS.” Wyatt replies. “The Jovians have to know by now they're outnumbered. Even if we just keep their remaining mecha busy, it's 13-12 or so now, and our numbers are only going to go up, meaning some of us can focus on disabling the ship itself.” Grant reflects, rubbing the chin of his helmet. The Pharcyde nods, “INDEED. THEY HAVE AN EDGE IN SHIP-TO-SHIP COMBAT AGAINST CIVILIAN TRANSPORTS, BUT WE HAVE THEM BEAT IN MECHA COMBAT BARRING TRULY UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES. IT'S A SITUATION THEY'RE UNFAMILIAR WITH, BEING BEATEN EVEN WHEN THEY STACK THE DECK...AND IT MIGHT MAKE THEM UNPREDICTABLE, KEEP YOUR GUARD UP.”“Like the three mecha leaving their ship and making for our position.” McClintock notes, “Whew, they're...they're really coming right here.” “They're moving together like a team, too.” Grant replies grimly, staring at the blinking contact icons on his sensors, as if willing them to move faster and come into focus.“JUST THREE?” Wyatt Questions, and then a note neither of the others could have imagined enters his voice, “NO, IT CAN'T BE...”[Meanwhile, back on the ship...]
>>1213620So it begins. The last alliance of Red Siren Pirate Harpy Boss and Red Siren Pirate Harpy Sub-Boss.
>>1213639>Star wolf theme intensifies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qsfc-ZRP9AU
>>1213641Thank you. Propaganda posters are fun to make if you know how to do them. Simple, to the point, catch the eyes.
>>1213639>“JUST THREE?” Wyatt Questions, and then a note neither of the others could have imagined enters his voice, “NO, IT CAN'T BE...”It's not another SOUL team, is it? Kinda doubt that it's more competitors.
>>1213633>>1213649>>1213668now i want some belt poster's. and avalonian to.
>>1213679Haven't you heard, SOUL is on the uprise since the defeat of TWO Paladins by Amos "That's a Paddlin to ya Paladin' Wedge
>>1213679IIRC, there are a few famous Venusian and Saturn aces that we haven't run into yet. They presumably don't have the budget that a Mars or Jupiter ace would, so it might be them.
>>1213693Avalonian could be difficult. I see their propoganda as renaissance paintings
>>1213710>Not using medieval memes.
>>1213693I've got some ideas, but Avalon isn't really that easy to do posters for. Propaganda and Ye Olde Knights are oil and water. Chivalry is full of purple prose, but that hurts propaganda. The Belt is much easier since it's a matter of unity, freedom, and taking whats due.Hell, I figured out a name for them. Either Eisentor Defense Force or Eisentor Nation Defense. So you have either EDF or END.
>>1213668>tfw the only people who have beaten paladins in stand up fights without lucky shots are Roarke and Stern (who also had to deal with adds)Why isn't anyone talking about how fucking mean Stern was in his battle? Sure he didn't disable Kittytoe but considering the circumstances and the fact he came out on top means in all likelihood he would have taken out the Duke.No I'm not just asking Wong to write up that fight for us to see. Clearly.I didn't just miss a post or seven in the thousands in the quest so far, did I?
>>1213721>"OH NO! ITS THE END!"KEK
>>1213722It happened in the Battle of Mars' Gate. Stern didn't get recognition in part because of Fairchild's manipulation and his failure to capture Oliver and Duke Rothschild.
>>1213722Wong rolled the entire fight, but never bothered to tell us the whole story.
>>1213721PLEBIANS WANTEDfor hazardous battlefieldssmall wageslong months on cold dark spaceconstant dangersafe return doubtfulHonour and knighthood in case of success
>>1213721>EDFGiant bugs and Balams when?
>>1213722Because it wasn't really decisive. Stern is also their ace in the hole. You don't talk about those to the public, especially since Stern is close to Fairchild's rank. If he gained popularity it hurts her more.
“I say, are you finished yet?” The tall, mature blonde lady clad in a high-class customized Martian-pattern pilot suit with a gemstone-inlaid nanofiber shawl taps her foot impatiently.“Shhh.” Kathrine waves her away, frowning, “But they're going to get hurt! What 'survival of the fittest', this isn't just a contest, it's a show, and if we lose performers ROSIE IS GOING TO BE UPSET!” She huffs, “She's worked hard on this and I am NOT going to let her down so...so you get your butts over here right now!” She glowers into the hacked terminal she's using to access the nearest ansible satellite, “Or...what? What do you mean 'or what!?'”The girl with the scar smacks her fist into her open palm, “Hnf.”“Or I call every bar on Auditorium and tell them to drop your line of credit! I don't care about your training exercises, we have hostiles HERE! The ship's captain betrayed us, things would go a lot more smoothly if you showed up with a pirate ship to put the fear of Roarke into them. W-what do you mean this is just for my convenience!? We're in real trouble here!” Kathrine scolds whoever's on the other end of the line. The girl with the scar tsks, and shakes her head. The mature blonde puts a hand on the scarred girl's shoulder, “Dearie, if you don't mention that seemingly-nice young man I let out of his cabin to the nice girl who works for Red Siren, I'll help you get the sniping cannon mounted on your tank and you can have some fun.”The scarred girl grins cheerfully and rubs her hands together in anticipation, “Goody.” She remarks, picking up an autowrench and tossing it to the older woman with enough force to make her stagger back as she catches it. They set to work.“PUT RACHEL ON THE LINE! PUT HER ON RIGHT NOW, MISTER FLINT, I'M PUTTING MY FOOT DOWN! I'M GOING TO TELL YOUR WIFE YOU'RE BEING MEAN TO ME AND MEAN TO RED SIREN'S GIRLS!” Kathrine sounds like she's on the verge of tears.[Continued]
>>1213722Because it wasn't a clean win and they were part of a relatively largish melee. S-Lionfish was damaged too.
>>1213761Uh, I may have been unclear, but I didn't mean full autistic for Mai. Just like, 4chan obsessed autism, you know?
>>1213778No, I know, but she just doesn't tend towards unnecessary words. There's nothing wrong upstairs.
>>1213794Ah, alright. I was worried I had autismed a not-actually-autistic character into being actually autistic. Would've been a pretty massive fuck up on my part.
>>1213753I will never stop being salty this shit isnt on the Xbone.
>>1213812She doesn't really seem that autistic to me. Lacks a few of the things I've seen or dealt with. Just seems like a dedicated specialist or tank maniac.
>>1213761>seemingly-nice young manWonder which pilot it is
>>1213832I've never had to "deal" (not the exactly right word, but I hope you get what I mean) with an autistic person, just been around people with it or downs a couple of times. When I was, they just used noises or weird words to communicate. I was afraid I'd messed up getting across my ideas. Again. It's a problem for me.
>>1213857Grunting is a perfectly viable means of communication. As is screeching.
>>1213857Yeah, Mai doesn't come across as autistic, just angry.
>>1213865Screeching, you say?
>>1213721Well END is a nice message to send to your enemy's but EDF rolls off the tongue better in my opinion.
>>1213870Truly the Hero of Jove.
>>1213865Grunting makes up at least 30% of my vocabulary.
>>1213778>Implying that driving a tank without 3D space movement just because isn't the height of insanity. :P
>>1213857Seems like the lower end of the spectrum. I've dealt with the higher end stuff or those who have been trying to improve themselves. Know a guy who's got Downs and is pretty good at baking, just has some problem with the social stuff.
>>1213888>without 3D space movementFor now. Just you wait until my glorious flying tank destroys Avalon.
>>1213900tank as big as a shipship-tank
“W-well who can you send, then!? Oh. Oh, yes, that's fine. You could have just said so!” Kathrine doesn't sound much happier, “Well, tell them to hurry, some of the boys are holding them off, but the odds really aren't good!” She terminates the call and flops back into her chair with a sigh. “I hope he's okay.”“Who, dear?” The blonde woman, Lady Sparna, tightens a rivet with a grimace of distaste despite the efficiency with which she works. “The...well, one of the boys out there. He was really charming.” She sighs, “Of...of course I should just stay out of the way. He probably has a girlfriend or...or a wife. I mean, we only spoke over a PA, and...and just because he wanted to rescue me, it doesn't mean anything really, right? He's probably just brave and selfless like that with all the girls, and I'm just another one caught up in his wake and...and...and I should just keep quiet around him. I'd just be bothering him, I bet, and if I said anything it would get awkward and ruin a great working relationship.” “Hmmm.” Lady Sparna lifts a pair of viewmax lenses to the front of her helmet, and zooms in, “Do you know which mech he's in?”“His name is Alexander Grant and he pilots the Libra and...waaaah! I'm not a stalker, I swear! Don't look at me like that, both of you!” Kathrine recoils from the judgmental gazes of her new friends. “I-I was just gathering information and came across those facts!”“Gathering information, hmm? Well, I'm not a pirate, not yet at least, and I don't know which one is which...do you, Mai?” Lady Sparna looks imperiously over at her traveling companion.“Nah.” Mai comments laconically, working a crane to lift the sniper loadout into place, “Give me a hand.”Kathrine's shoulders slump, “The sharply-colored one with the slender wings. The pilot has tousled dark hair and these really deep eyes and a perfect chin.” She sighs sadly.[Continued]
>>1213931>inb4 the Storm Dragons appearWait, let me atualize the Walkure...
>>1213950That or we get to see some of our very first MP units. Come on Myrms or Dutchmen!
>>1213966Huh, I wonder if they are bringing the Avalonians too for some reason...
“Oh, good, because I like the stylish one with the flail. My, that coloration is such a classic.” Lady Sparna licks her lips, “I bet the pilot is tall.”“Mhhmm.” Mai agrees, “Broad shoulders.”“Powerful arms, too. Look at how he fights. He doesn't have anything to prove, he's finishing off the damaged ones and creating openings for his allies. A true team player. That kind of confidence is something I haven't seen since...since...” Lady Sparna feels a pang of loss for a husband dearly loved. Mai, the girl with the scar, has heard Lady Sparna's entire life story and gives her a sympathetic look. “Talk to him. I'll make sure he gets back.” She smiles. People who've only seen Mai frown or glower would be startled by the purity of that smile. “You're a good girl, Miss Uaifu. But...an old lady like me has no business trying to relive the springtime romances of girlhood.” She is, for the record, younger than General Hermione Fairchild or General Regina Hatsheput, both of whom have active love lives if you count poor Regina pining for a space pirate half her age as active. “I'll fade into the shadows, I know you like him too, so...you have my full support! Go, know the same happiness I did!”Kathrine watches uncomfortably, getting out her PC and messing around with it, “Ummm...girls?” She timidly interjects. She goes unheard, “No.” Mai insists, “You spoke first. I'll be alright.” She promises, “Plenty of men in the galaxy.”Lady Sparna shakes her head, “No, no, I insist. You'll make him happy, I won't. I'm sure a practical man like that would find me too demanding.”“You have a good heart, Marciana. If he's not happy, that's his fault.” Mai responds promptly and firmly.Kathrine sighs and projects a holographic image between them, “Wyatt Stills, pilot of the Pharcyde, age fourteen...”Mai and Marciana stare in horror. “But...but that's a little boy...” Marciana says first, her lower lip quivering at the unfairness of it all.Mai just covers her own face with her hands, once again reaffirming her lack of any belief in a just and righteous god.Out in the cold void, Wyatt is unaware that once again he has broken the hearts of two women. It's a situation he's extremely familiar with. He's too busy staring grimly at the approaching trio of mecha. In preparation, he reaches out and grips the joystick that controls his missiles, arming them and watching the crosshairs dance across his screen.[Continued]

>>1214035Hey Solaire! Ready for kicking ass? And for shipping?
>>1214049Well yes but there is no shipping for Mag yet, personally I'm fine with that.
>>1214044Does Mai's inspiration look old enough to be a cake? She doesn't to me.
>>1213989Haha, reminds me of that one spider man page. Anyway I caught this just in time! Mecha Space Pirate Quest forever!
Huh, is the Buddy now a Palomino instead of a Morgan II? It's downsized.
>>1213989I can't wait for Marcianna and Inari to meet.
>>1214108I think it's a Morgan-II Torso with Pumpkinseed or Palomino limbs.
>>1214059Well.... Luca is single... And he seems to have quite the interest in chilvarious themes...
>>1214133He's also a total fagnot that there's anything wrong with that.
>>1214133Luca probably has someone back home.
>>1213989>this entire sequence
>>1214108Is it? Ah, thought something got changed. Nah, that's how it is. Well, now that I think about it...mistakes were made.Oh well, let's see how it goes.

>>1214210On second thought, that could make sense...Morgan-II replacement limbs could be a bit expensive for Walter...and he had to make do with whatever was on hand.Well, that sounds legit.
>>1214241I shall name this Anime: "My Jovian Knight can't be this cute!"
>>1214241Dude, you were already kind of annoying when you just had Akai to shitpost with.now you're becoming insufferable.
>>1214241>Implying implications This isn't the board to argue this. But fair warning: I ain't afraid to shank a BRo over a ship. >>1214280Also *god damn* there's so much art of this guy. Every time I've ever played a character I've been strapped for images, but now that it's just an NPC it's like hitting a gold mine. >>1214302Also, yeah. Maybe cut down on the images before Wong turns a baleful eye this way.
>>1214280>>1214241>>1214133Oi, slim down on the images, I still have propaganda posters to make.

>>1214313>Also *god damn* there's so much art of this guy.Because fangirls love a good faggy character. And he's "prettier" than the protag. Those homoerotic undertones are so fucking strong it hurts.

BR, ease it off on avatarfagging with other people's characters. It's rude.
>>1214383Not-Huey referencing Snatch... Ahh this thread is off to a very strong start!
“What is it, Wyatt? SOUL?” Alexander Grant questions.“NEGATIVE. JUST AN IRRITANT.” Wyatt replies flatly, “WE SHOULD ENGAGE THEM AT MAXIMUM RANGE. NO COMMS. THEY'LL ONLY BE A DISTRACTION.”The center mech fires a blue flare, UJCIDF signal for parlay.“It's two more of those upgraded Pumpkinseeds.” James McClintock reports, “And what looks like a Morgan II.The Libra turns its head towards the Lightning, “Looks like? It's matching what my instruments say, but...” He frowns, “Yeah, it's hard to tell with how customized it is, but that's a Morgan II.”“Black armor, a pair of curved horns...this guy really customizes his shit, doesn't he?” McClintock tsks, “Let's fuck them up.”“INDEED.” Wyatt agrees, “SO COMMON SENSE REALLY DOES LURK DEEP WITHIN YOUR HEART. WELL DONE, JIM. NOW, I SUGGEST AN ALPHA STRIKE ON THE LEFTMOST PUMPKINSEED DEUCE. DO NOT STOP FIRING UNTIL YOU SEE AN EJECTION.”“What, why?” Grant asks, “Not the leader? Why the left one?”“THE STRONGEST MECH WITH THE MOST RANK IS NOT ALWAYS THE LEADER.” Wyatt intones gravely.“Purple armor with silver and black highlights and a shark emblem in yellow on the left shoulder. The other Deuce is relatively plain...practically unpainted, really. What's with the shark one, Wyatt?” Alexander Grant questions.“DO YOU KNOW WHAT 'NEMESIS' MEANS, AL?” Wyatt replies in a world-weary voice, “A RIGHTEOUS INFLICTION OF RETRIBUTION MANIFESTED BY AN APPROPRIATE AGENT. PERSONIFIED, IN THIS CASE, BY A HORRIBLE CUNT. SERGEANT MAKO NUNEZ.”[Continued]
“I see.” The Libra nods.“I don't.” The Lightning crosses its arms.“ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH 'LES MISERABLES', MOST PARTICULARLY THE CHARACTER OF JAVERT?” The Pharcyde questions.“Yes, of course.” Alexander Grant affirms.“What the fuck is a Mizzerablaze?” McClintock demands to know.“A CLASSIC WORK OF ART I AM DISAPPOINTED YOU LACK THE SLIGHTEST FAMILIARITY WITH, TELLING THE TALE OF ONE OF THE MOST ORIGINAL GANGSTERS PURSUED BY THE MAN THROUGH NO FAULT OF HIS OWN.” Wyatt heaves a long-suffering sigh and refrains from calling his erstwhile ally anything that would besmirch his own dignity, “JAVERT WAS A JAILOR MOST FOUL WHO PURSUED THE PROTAGONIST, JEAN VALJEAN, AFTER HE HAD WON HIS FREEDOM AND ESCAPED PRISON. IT WAS NOT BECAUSE JEAN WAS GUILTY OF ANY REAL CRIME, OR BECAUSE HE WAS A BAD PERSON, BUT BECAUSE JAVERT WAS SO SINGLE-MINDEDLY DEVOTED TO HIS OBEDIENCE TO THE LAW THAT HE COULD NOT CEASE HIS PURSUIT AND BUILD A HAPPY JEAN-FREE LIFE. SO LONG AS JEAN WAS FREE, HIS PURSUIT WOULD PERSIST. WITHOUT IT, HE HAD NO PURPOSE. NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND?”“Not really.” McClintock shrugs with glorious disregard for such things, “I say we talk to them. It can't hurt to see what they want, and if the worst comes to it we smash their mecha and take their shit.”Just then, all three receive a hail over the comms.>[Accept]>[Shoot the purple one before anything awful happens.]

McClintock hits accept, and two voices immediately ring out over the comms.“Troublesome fools! You may have caused some damage to the most worthless of my minions but I, CAPTAIN PIKE, will not be undone by the likes of you!” Booms a deep, male voice. Two compartments on the Morgan's back open up, and it draws a pair of long, needle-tipped mass lances with integrated cannons, “I took these from two of the Knights I shot down, I've grown to prefer them to the equipment I was originally assigned despite the cost of more thrusters to compensate for the added weight.” It spins the lances around its hands, deploying a hexagonal folding shield on a short sub-arm from its right wrist.“If you say the line about the bull and the horns one more time I swear I'll shoot you. I fucking swear I will. I can hear how small your dick is.” Groans the second voice, female and a bit harsh, but young, “Now shut the fuck up. WYATT! You little shit! Give me back my mech!” “SERGEANT YOU CAN'T THREATEN ME I'M A CAP-” The Morgan II goes flipping end over end as the purple Pumpkinseed Deuce performs a complicated movement with its thrusters and kicks it directly in the back of the head. The silver Pumpkinseed II just watches the tourneygoers warily.“Not under your command, fucko! I've got special orders. Wyatt, get back here or I SWEAR you're getting paddled! We're going home right now!” The purple Pumpkinseed jabs an authoritative finger at the Pharcyde.“GENTLEMEN, SHE HAS ENTERED THE BLOODRAGE. Oh yeah, BR Anon, Buddyanon here. Decided to try my hand at going through mecha creation again and adjusted Buddy a bit for fun.Added Heavy Striker Servos and a Medium Striker Shield in exchange for one katar and the interservo link.So far, this is what I got: http://pastebin.com/L6DjceLVJust need to know if I'm doing the math right while I try to figure out what to spend the last 8 points on.
Grant is on the verge of opening fire when, abruptly, the grey Deuce beats him to it. The Captain fires at the same moment, both of them aiming for the Libra at the back of the pack. The knife-winged ranged mech easily avoids the mass shells, but the grey UJCIDF mech puts a shot right in the center of his mass, perfectly efficient (-1 torso SP, 3 remaining)Still, Alexander Grant is the real deal, and he doesn't let himself get distracted. Those little beam guns might be more accurate, but the lances are the real threat. Glowing tracer rounds fly across space like miniature stars in two precise, three-shot bursts. Just as he'd predicted, the Morgan II's shield is automated, a fancier version of the ones the Pumpkinseed IIs have, automatically shifting into place. The bullets dent and deform it (-3 SP, 5 remaining). The second volley hits clean, tagging the head (-1 SP, 5 remaining), torso (-1 SP, 5 remaining), and left arm. (-1 SP, 5 remaining).Suddenly, a huge shell hits the Morgan II in the back, buckling its armor and exploding against its mechanical frame. (-1 SP, -5K, 4 and 2 remaining) as it dodges away from the Lightning's flying kick. The hit sends it spinning on its axis, missing one blow of the Lightning's mighty blade, but the second slices it cleanly open, the cockpit ball barely avoiding getting thoroughly bisected.“Hey Al.” The Lightning swivels its head around to keep the Libra and grey Pumpkinseed II in view, “Do you think these guys intended to challenge us to an honorable three-on-three? I mean, should I be angry or grateful someone stepped in? I haven't really had to fight a crowd in a mech in a while, so...”“Well, whatever their intentions, they never actually challenged us and assaulted us with dirty tricks from the beginning. Justice is clearly on our side, Jim. I'd say grateful is best.”The Lightning hails the Ugly Ex, his voice ringing out over the PA, “Hey-ho! Whoever shot that, if you're a cute girl you're getting kissed when I come back! Don't go anywhere! If you're a guy, I'll buy you a beer!” He flashes the thumbs-up that makes all the girls on California Station go wild, with the poise of an arena champion.Safe in the cockpit of her tank, Mai's heart beats faster and her face turns bright red. She's a tough girl, but...but this situation isn't what she's used to! This isn't fair to her at all! She furiously digs around under the seat for a mint, pops it into her mouth, and vigorously chomps on it. Even if he's being much too forward, she can't back down! She can't lose her tough attitude! Besides, it...it isn't like she's committing to kissing him. It's just in case he's cute too! That's right! A girl should be prepared! She's not committing to not punching him either![Continued]

Rolled 8 (1d10)
Rolled 9, 2 = 11 (2d10)>>1215309Well, I can't ignore a player's tastes and it could be funny, who do you like better?>>1215311Interesting.
>>1215325That word fills me with fear.
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>1215325
Rolled 6 (1d6)>>1215327Well, if you don't like Mai shipped with James, who do you like better? Victor and Akai is sort of inevitable and Alexander and Kathrine is my favorite, but I'm not too adamant on the rest.
>>1215340Oh, never thought about shipping beyond Mai and James not making sense. Give me a little bit to look at the characters I guess.
>>1215290Hmm, thinking about it, I could spend those last 8 points on weight efficiency to get me to 39 tons...or I could take that and put it into Heavy Striker Armor for more defense...Decisions, decisions...
All this shipping confuses me, I thought they were just player submitted NPC's But hey why not, lets ship all the available females with males and then start looking into potential traps for those who are willing.
>>1215290Buddy, hope you don't mind, but I took some time to look over your math. It looks good until you get to your weapons. Your vibro-katar should take up 5 Spaces, your bazooka should only be 4 spaces and have a range of 400m, and I have no clue how you got your CP or Spaces for your beam gun. A 6k, WA+2, BV 2 beam weapon should have a base cost of 20.25. Even if you round that up to 20.3, that would give you 7 space efficiency that you then bought, which should leave it at 14 Spaces, not the 12 it currently is.
>>1215364>Lets all start shipping peoples ncps with each otherHow about no.
>>1215364they are player submitted npc's but wongs trying to characterize them a bit, relationships help with that.
>>1215369Hmm, will have to take a look at it and update as it goes along, because I copied that from the Space Jam pastebin.Which means, I have to check them hard again.
>>1215359>inb4 I discovering somethig wrong about it and we going full autistical about that.>>1215364who is still single? there isn't many women in this tourney, you guys must hurry!
>>1215340Katherine.Love you Valkyrie anon ;PI've never been big on romance in fiction or real life, so none would probably be what I would go with. But if I had to choose, and Thunder's OK with it, Finn. His mech's larger and heavier than most, so it makes sense. That's really all the reason I can come up with beyond just romancing Thunder's character.
>>1215379Oh, it's already getting there right now as I'm scrambling to figure out >>1215369again.
>>1215364Wong was the one who shipped Alex and Kathrine and I thought it was cute because Kathrine deserves love. The rest of these ships make no difference to me.
>>1215380I don't mind, but I would like to see how Wong writes them interacting first before I make a concrete decision.
The purple Pumpkinseed II doesn't fuck around either “Alright, you little shit! You won't come out of there, I'M COMING IN!” It fires twice, high-precision shots pegging the Pharcyde's torso (-1 SP, 4 remaining) and left arm (-1 SP, 4 remaining), “Fucking standard-issue popguns! What did you do with my real gun!?”“I SOLD IT FOR THIS PAINTJOB AND THE PARTS I NEEDED!” The Pharcyde booms in response.“Parts?” There's a sudden vidcomm request, and out of sheer curiosity both Grant and McClintock hit accept at once. Wyatt doesn't. Wyatt already knows the expression on the other side of the screen, where a short but well-muscled woman in her late twenties with olive skin and an expression so murderous that it's gone beyond angry and into dead-eyed rage is getting out a thick, leather belt, “Parts.” If she wasn't in a pilot suit, anyone looking could see the tribal, interlocking pattern of sharks tattooed onto her upper arms, shoulders, and back and might also comment that her formal UJCIDF uniform is supposed to have sleeves. Also that the legs of her uniform pants have been cut off practically from the hip, “Alright, kid. That deal with your dead grandpa? It's off. I'm going to kill you, and this time I really mean it. What did you do with my me-” “THIS, WRETCHED JAILKEEPER.” The Pharcyde levels its missile launcher in its left hand, firing a controlled burst of three, pausing for a heartbeat and reorienting, then firing another burst. Wyatt knows how a Pumpkinseed II's shield AI works, he's Jovedamn Wyatt. As expected, the shield angles for optimum deflection and takes all three shots (-3 SP, 5 remaining), but that knocks it high, and the next three slip in low and slow. Explosions ring out, silent as the blossoming of flowers in the inky void, glowing petals of light searing the void. The Pumpkinseed II contorts its body to try and avoid it, but one missile hits its left knee (-1 SP, -2K, 4 and 3 remaining), then its torso (-1 SP, -2K, 4 and 6 remaining), and finally...one shot cracks the glass covering its sensor core, causing a surge of feedback from the missile strike that overloads the core and blinds it as its AI scrambles to adjust and reform the picture.“THUS ALWAYS DO TYRANTS FALL, UNMOURNED AND UNHERALDED!” Wyatt proclaims with a hint of vindictiveness. The grey Pumpkinseed II does an undignified dive to grab the Captain's cockpit ball in one arm and the shoulder armor of the purple Pumpkinseed II in the other, starting to fly away.>[Let it go]>[Shoot at it]
>>1215387That's actually a good idea. I'm fine with it.

>>1215388>[Let it go]Im sure Wyatt would appreciate NOT spending the rest of the trip three feet from an ass beating.

>>1215400BR, do not shoot at retreating foes who have cockpits in their hands. Being a cop killing who shot them as they fled is pretty damn bad rep.
>>1215408Also, if you want advice, since I made the Blitz I have to say give it heavier armor. But if you found some way to reduce the cost by 1.8 CP, you could get your MV down to -3. It's up to you to decide what you want more.
>>1215417They can't kick your ass from inside a cockpit ball!
>>1215408upping to heavy striker would increase base cp cost by 6 and increase frame weight by 3 tons, which would put you over 140 cp if you wanted to keep the same MA as you have now due to increased thruster costs.you could probably make one servo's armor heavier than the others and still be within 140, like light heavy on the torso for example.

Wyatt hesitates. Yes, he could end her wickedness forever, as far as caretakers go she's nowhere near a responsible adult or a decent parent, but...on the other hand, he owes her just a little, and watching her shriek and thrash and smack the walls of her cockpit with that belt is satisfying in its own way. He, for one, is sure he's never going to forget that look on her face.“I can reach him.” McClintock guarantees, preparing to do just that.“NO. LET THEM GO. LET THEIR HUMILIATION LINGER, AND LET THEM ANSWER TO THEIR WICKED MASTERS. THEIR PUNISHMENT WILL BE MORE CRUEL THAN ANYTHING WE CAN DEVISE.” Wyatt speaks into his carefully modulated comms system, making his teenage voice far more impressive than it regularly is, “WE'RE HERE TO ESCAPE THAT SYSTEM, BROTHERS, NOT RECREATE IT.”“Amen, brother.” McClintock replies, then he adds, “Hey, the way that girl was talking to you...”“Yes, indeed, that raises quite a few questions.” The Libra pops up on the other side of the Pharcyde, arms crossed, “Because it seemed an awful lot like a preexisting relationship outside the usual bounty-hunter-and-target norms.” Alexander Grant's voice is suspicious.“Uh-huh. That's your ex-wife, right? Crazy, I know the type. Yeah, don't see what you ever saw in her at all.” McClintock suggests with exaggerated casualness, “Definitely not my cup of tea, no sir. I'll just, uh...if you've got the number for her PC, I'll just take it, that way if you need to pick up some furniture or something from her I'll be able to do it but you, my friend, you will be spared the awful temptation of calling her at 3AM hoping for a booty call. That's a dark road to go down, and while I'm not saying I know the feeling or anything as your friend I'm here to help you with it anyway. So, her name's Mako, right? What's she into? Mixed martial arts? Jazz? Pit fighting? Stubby the Shetland?”“FIREARMS, ALCOHOL, AND VIOLENCE.” Wyatt goes to cut comms, then pauses, “WAIT, WHY IN PLUTON IS A GROWN-ASS MAN WATCHING STUBBY THE SHETLAND?”[Continued]

“It's quality programming. You like Stubby too, right Al? Al...?” The Lightning turns its head, then pauses. The Libra is staring through the viewport to the Ugly Ex's bridge. He flies up alongside him, and gazes down...into a scene from a nightmare. The bodies of the ship's captain and bridge officers are strewn across the floor, some in pieces. A lone man, handsome and fit with no shirt on, just a broadsword in his hands and a broad-brimmed hat on his head, only one eye visibly gleaming in the shadows beneath. The man looks up, aware of their presence, and hits a few buttons to assert control of the comms. In proper light, his hair color is much darker than it looked before, a sandy-reddish shade.“Ho, stranger. This is Bodvarsson's ship now, and Bodvarsson's ship aided you. Do not make promises to kiss the women aboard Bodvarsson's ship before him, or despite your valor Bodvarsson shall open you like a purse.” He lifts his sword, and makes a gesture like cutting a human being from neck to groin. Despite Alexander and James being in mecha, there isn't even a trace of fear in Finn's singular eye. Then he smiles.[Continued]

>>1215555Uh, well, I guess I'm kinda biased because I'm like this in real life, but I imagined a mech pilot (who like you've said are sort of like super fighter pilots) like Mai wouldn't take shit from people. Like being the uber douche to end all uber douches. Or being legitimately insane.
>>1215555I just rather liked how flustered Mai got when McClintock said he'd kiss her and wanted their thing to keep going.
>>1215560 Also, i cannot into greentext today, damnit.
I think we could stand to wait for the rest of the competitors to be available before we go heavy on shipping
>>1215544You sure that wouldn't just make him more into her? I mean shieldmaiden's and Valkyries were a thing.
Landing doesn't take long. James makes an unwise comment to Mai about her shooting being pretty good 'for a Martian' and gets punched hard enough for him to avoid commenting on the fact that she has a tank. She stalks away in a huff. Tanks are better than men, she tells herself, tanks don't say stupid things to ruin her good mood. She'll show them all at the tournament.Alexander isn't nearly as shocked by Wyatt's true appearance as James is. He saw the belt earlier and made some guesses that McClintock had been too busy looking at Sergeant Mako Nunez's chest to cogitate on. The three men trade fistbumps once James' shock wears off. Despite his age, Wyatt's still proved he's got the chops for this job. No respect lost. The JSS Pullo sends its remaining mecha out to gather all the survivors that haven't directly been taken prisoner, then retreats. It had been hiding behind an asteroid with a charged microgate projector waiting for the Ugly Ex to come here and summon the pirate ship, and can easily fold space back to Jupiter. Luckily, nobody is there to see the colossal shouting match between Captain Pike and Sergeant Nunez, both of them feeling 100% justified and that the other is a complete idiot for losing to this group of ragamuffins.Eventually, the Heavy Cruiser Yamato arrives, and a flight of Storm Dragons personnel with it, taking control of the bridge and, under the direction of Finn waving his bloody sword around, forming up with the transport Red Siren's people came on and, some hours later, setting off for Auditorium.Somewhere along the way, Alexander and Kathrine end up sitting together by a viewport, watching the stars go past. True to her own word to herself, she's quiet for a while, trying and failing to pretend she's busy with her phone. He, too, doesn't say anything, for very similar reasons. He barely knows her, what he did was what anyone with moral fiber should do. Her shoulder brushes against his, and like a match being drawn across a striking surface, something fragile and warm blossoms between them.“I...when we get back, I'll probably have to go straight to work. There's a lot to do, even before training for the tourney.” Kathrine says, almost in a whisper.“I have to train too.” Alexander admits.“But...we both have to eat, right?” Kathrine looks up at him. This is among the bravest things she's ever done.“Everyone does, you and me too.” Alexander replies, wondering why his tongue feels so heavy yet so easily twisted.“So then, I suppose if...” She hesitates.“If we ate together sometime?” He suggests.“Y-yes. If you're sure you want to. I wouldn't be offended if you didn't.” The stars are reflected in her eyes. Alexander is able to pick out a familiar constellation, or what looks a lot like it, in them.Danger and profit indeed.“I'd like that.” He tells her, quietly but sincerely, without any frills or ornamentation. And so the night moves on.

From now on I'm not going to say anything about what you're doing with Mai. It's just that I don't think any pilot would take being directly insulted or make themselves deal with a person with a seriously grating personality or, like that anon said earlier, "claimed." If this were the old country, Bodvarsson would have beaten you with a trout!"
>>1216030>Finn was joking (with a pile of bodies around him)Yeah, the whole butchering everyone thing followed up by your reply to that anons joke made me think he wasn't. The Norse were pretty... fucked up isn't right, but the way they did and thought about things was just way out there.
>>1216778That's not a Norse specific thing dude.
>>1216794They were way out there compared to most cultures I'm passingly familiar with. For example, stealing was one of the worse things they could do, but killing people and taking there stuff was perfectly fine. There was even a story about it. These 3 guys stole from this older guy and agonized about it for a while because doing so would keep them out of Valhalla, so they went back and killed him and that made it all OK.
>>1216778Not everyone is all touchy feely anon. Some people kill their enemies and then go home and sleep like a baby. Especially people who believe they only get to go to heaven if they die in battle.
>>1216681>Welp, Finn now sounds like Rolf in my head.Oh great anon now you've got me thinking it too
>>1216815I feel that wouldn't invalidate the crime. Killing the guy then stealing his stuff would be fine, but stealing his stuff then killing him doesn't gel. Also, being incredibly casual after brutal violence isn't a Norse exclusive thing.
>>1216940As long as you manned up and killed him at some point its fine I guess.
>>1216955Hey man, if the other guy was in the right he would have killed the thief instead of getting murdered like a bitch.
>>1216940That's another part of why its fucking weird. But like I said, it's not just that. I thought it was a joke too and then Wong said I'd be fine with it when someone joked about claiming women or whatever and I thought I had misunderstood again. The thing Thunder said about him liking her for punching him would have been funny. Too bad I fucked that up.I keep saying it, but I feel like I really do have trouble getting across what I'm actually trying to say. I'm afraid I fucked up Wong thinks I'm butthurt about it. I'm trying really hard to not be That Guy.
>>1216976I'm afraid I fucked up *and Wong thinks I'm butthurt about it
>>1216976I feel it's a valid concern and Wong has shown he's willing to be flexible. You should be fine.
>>1216815The difference is if you kill him its plunder and you deserve his things because you proved you were the better man. Stealing shows that you were to afraid to fight him for it so you had to sneak around and steal it from him proving you were a giant chickenshit, and chickenshits don't get in to Valhalla.
>>1217111truly, the viking's were the most badass of people.
>>1216976No such thing. Everything is fine. If you don't mind telling me what you DO want to see I'll try to work it in.
>>1217318Now I'm curious on what you're gonna do with Walter.>>1215379Oh right, one more thing I could put in:Walter had a waifu...And if anyone remembered who I had Walter based on...there we go.
>>1217318I guess the only thing I'd want is her going on a rant (or whatever you would call it) about how great mobile armor is some time in the future. It doesn't matter to me how long it takes, it could be 5 threads from now and I'd be fine. You'd do a good job writing it, undoubtedly. All of this was either misunderstandings on my part or me not really enjoying shipping. And that's not really helped when everyone's insane and/or children looking at your insane, almost worst girl child, Brazil. I guess we're still doing the Finn ship though? Her being easily flustered is cute though. And just to be sure, Brazil said earlier that you round half SPs of armor from AP down. Is that right?
>>1217409>And just to be sure, Brazil said earlier that you round half SPs of armor from AP down. Is that right?Never said that he does that, just that this is what is written in the book, check the AP description.
>>1217544I meant "you" in the general sense. I wasn't referring to Wong specifically.

Just missiles, and why do you think that it is more focused on nimbler mechs? You're not wrong per se, but it isn't limited to that.

>>1217315They actually had a fairly poor to mediocre track record in fighting actual wars. The viking at stanford bridge was cool as fuck though.
>>1218710>They actually had a fairly poor to mediocre track record in fighting actual wars. The viking at stanford bridge was cool as fuck though. There is a pretty simple explanation for that, though. Your average viking was tough as nails, and a viking crew was a hardass band off pirates, pillagers and murderers, but they really lacked organisation beyond that. So when you see the words "viking army of 5.000 men" or similar numbers, it means "20+ different armies of varying strenghts and motives, that all happen to follow the same guy because he has a decent plan/will kill them if they don't". This is not a great form of organisation to wage a war, as has been seen many times throughout history. The only way to make that succeed on a large scale is to have a leader that can hold those forces together and make them work together through sheer force of personality. Not unlike Admiral Roarke, now that i think about it.
>>1214965Did . . . Did the QM just allow everyone to reroll just because y'all got bad dice? Tell me I'm reading this wrong.
>>1218861It's not the first time it's happened.yeah, it kinda sucks, but I'm not gonna let it ruin the entire quest for me.
>>1218867Well shit.That's pretty disappointing.Guess I don't have to bother rolling then.
>>1218872>That's pretty disappointing.I know how you feel bro, it makes you wonder if your victory really means something when something like this happens... But Wong is still a very good QM, so I just roll along with it even if it dissapoints every time that happen.
>>1218918> Good QMI'd say he's a good writer. I don't know about a QM that can't handle failure.
>>1218942Eh, to be fair these are side characters who have to show up at the big tournament with their robots somehow. Pretty sure we haven't done it in any actual important fights.
>>1218861No, I MADE them reroll for being insufficiently hot-blooded. Obviously.
>>1218872>>1218942We do a first come, first serve system that doesn't use a best of 3 that most settings use, where the only way to improve our very small roll is to call out luck. Said calling out usually doesn't take because many just rush in with the dice roll. From the very start the dice are a lot more unforgiving than most and this is a side skit and not the main event. So I really don't mind that if we somehow roll a set of 1s where no one even bloody bothered to roll luck because they rushed as usual we get a single reroll while every other quest gets 3 for their dice.
>>1218972It's surprisingly easy to forget that we have that pool to supplement our rolls with, especially when there's no reminder that we have it or how much we have left. [s]This isn't a shot at Wong, it's just an unfortunate happenstance of playing online on an imageboard. [/s]
>>1219001Two pools even.
>>1219001And thats the thing. We are playing a table top game quest when many still think of it as a standard quest. These sort of games aren't usually done by everyone playing one character. Add to the fact that Mekton is pretty lethal and it becomes tougher still. It's why I consider Wong a mix of a DM and QM. Both have different things to look out for.
>>1218972Also if I wanted to fudge things it wouldn't have made sense at that point because, even in a worst-case scenario, you had the Girl Squad for backup and Oda on the way.
>>1219040True. It was a victory situation, just due to everything already being tied up. Still, was pretty odd that someone came on here and only complained about the dice rerolls and nothing else.
>>1218942This is all for fun and to show off people's characters. Fudging rolls so we succeed and have more fun isn't a bad thing, it's not like Wong rerolls every time something goes wrong.I mean, this IS a game. We don't have to be super serious and follow the rules to the exact letter or stick to the fall of the dice 100% of the time. Treating it like the most serious thing in the world and nothing else would make any game unenjoyable.
>>1219059I dont really care that Wong re-rolled on this, because these are side dudes and they do have to show up with all their shit in order, but I dont really like this attitude. Whats the point of playing a game with dice if you dont follow what they say? If this was actually an important fight and the rolls were fudged to let us win I would start getting a bit butthurt.
>>1219047Nah I just posted from work not home.
>>1219061Also just because you fail doesn't mean it has to be game over.Injuries, getting captured, knocked out etc. Are all things that can happen
>>1219064To be fair it hasn't really been a problem so far. We have had the good luck to win most of our fights so far and the one time there was no hope we had to run away and we had to hide in the forest and ditch the mechs. Nothing was fudged when rashad almost blew the both of us to hell so I'm not worried about it.
>>1219061It can get really frustrating to play a game when you absolutely refuse to fudge dice at all. I once played a D&D campaign (it lasted around 10 months in total) where we did just follow the dice. This one guy that had played tabletops longer than I had (his name was Brian or Brent or something) went for the entirety of the last 3 month of it without hitting a single attack. Bats, dragons, the BBEG's minion (yes, singular.) It didn't matter. He just couldn't hit.At was a Barbarian and first, then changed to a Paladin when the Barb died so would at least have a use in combat since he couldn't do damage, and for about the last month and a half he used a Ranger so he could dual wield and get two attacks per round, and he still never hit.It was especially sad at the end, because we could tell it was getting to the climax and we were joking about how the dice would finally go his way and he'd end up killing the Big Bad, but he got locked in combat with a demon the BBEG summoned and never hit him while the rest of us cleared the rest of the minions and ignored his (on his request) to kill the boss, which unsummoned/banished the demon. That's why I decided fudging dice can be fine some times. If Wong did it all the time, that would be bad, but this was for fun, so there's nothing wrong with it.
>>1219075But why fudge it for a Mook battle where as Wong pointed out >>1219040 was already a victory situation?
>>1219075Also I think something is seriously wrong with your character if you go 3 months without landing a hit.Or do you have a habit of slighting old gypsie women?
>>1219072Whatever. I'm not thrilled about it happening but it's not worth making a big thing over.I'll just wait for the fanfic arc to be over and to get back to Roarke
>>1219078Because this is JUST for fun. "OK guys, its time to show off your characters and take a breather from the super high stakes fights on Quil'ir. Oh, they rolled solely 2s and jobbed to mechs with super underpowered weapons and -4 compared to your rolls? Alright then."Not very fun, yeah?>>1219080I remember he was really surprised his Barb couldn't hit, so that made him decide to focus on tanking with the Paladin, and didn't want to leave the party without a tank so went for tanking/dual wielding on the Ranger, so I guess only the Barb was optimized for pure damage. I don't remember the stats.
>>1219075I think if you play a game of chance you shouldnt complain when the dice go against you. 3 months straight with no hit sucks but someone somewhere else probably went 3 months landing every single hit. Fudging the bad rolls to let you succeed make the good rolls less satisfactory and important.
>>1219089Why bother rolling? That's like arguing I should be mad when my character with under powered weapons one shots a Paladin or something. Is it only fun when you're winning?
>>1219087Supposedly we'll be back to Roarke tonight.
I can't remember, would the roll in question have destroyed someones torso or something? ah well I'm just gonna think of this like burning a fate point.
>>1219089To clarify> Not wanting your super cool all caps character to have a nemesis they can't just "Pssh . . . Nothing personnel" even when having the advantages and losing to a comically underequipped foe.Which really would have been perfect and actually entertaining instead of "And of course your guy is just so cool he outright wins by fiat." Reducing the whole plot of this person being his Javert to more of a "Team Rocket blasting off again!" Joke. Like how am I supposed to take his build up of her as a credible threat seriously now? When the rolls first came in I was all "Wow we really should have just shot first! She's actually badass." And now I have close to zero interest in seeing that plot develop.
>>1219108So that person can't use their Luck any more? That would be fair.
>>1219111Although if they did get fucked up they wouldnt really be able to repair their shit so it does make sense to save it.
>>1219101Why are you misconstruing what I'm saying so much? Can you really not understand my point? I literally said doing it all the time is bad. Why should someone be forced to spend the last 3 months of a 10 month campaign just sitting at a table for hours at a time and be unable to participate in the final battle? Why should we treat a section purely for fun and jokes as super serious? We're not playing as Roarke, this really isn't contributing to the game as a whole. I'm saying we're playing a game to have fun. Part of that fun is beating the odds, yeah, but when the odds essentially make your character a statue or go against you doing something silly to have fun, why shouldn't you fudge them? "It'll ruin the fun" doesn't stack up when you're not having fun in the first place.
>>1219114Except luck doesn't work like that, and everyones luck will be restored for the tourney regardless.
>>1219119There are no odds if you just fudge the dice. If there is no risk why bother? You'd have a more exciting time playing monopoly.
>>1219119You really keep referencing that 3 month dry spell. I think it broke you.>>1219117Lucky shot causing malfunction but not a lot of damage that couldn't be repaired. Knocks him out of the fight but the others drive off the opponents.Like. Fudge the story not the dice.
>>1219078The real reason is because people were mad at tripfags and some other quest and the dice responded to it by rolling poorly. They had to get their heads back into the game, and more importantly I thought pretending to scold them for not rolling "with feeling" was funny. It was a joke and there's nothing else to it, regruntle yourself.
>>1219123>>1219125>everyone thinks I'm saying fudge every failureI suppose it's my fault everyone is misunderstanding my point.
>>1219129The big failures are more important than the little ones. Fudging a roll that would have killed someone gets on my tits.
>>1219127>people were mad at tripfags and some other questPeople are always mad at tripfags as they should be but I'm honestly not a fan of fudging rolls either failure builds character and makes a story interesting.
>>1219130>Fudging a roll that would have killed someoneThis is completely unrelated to what I was saying earlier, but killing a NPC made by a player for a tournament before the tournament even started would be OK? Wong has implied that they can die, but killing them now would be stupid.
>>1219127So the bad rolls were kept?
>>1219131Yeah, i'd be cool with Wong just saying he won't do it again, joke or not.
>>1219108No, it's a case of the QM having a joke and it being overanalyzed.
>>1219134Pretty sure "getting beaten" can happen without killing someone. "Javert" is now the equivalent of "Goldfish Feces" though.
>>1219138So it wasn't a re-roll? That's all you had to say.
>>1219134Man no one is even trying to kill anyone here apart from the viking guy. The only risk was getting whupped. If my dude gets trips over his own feet and shoots his own generator out of his chest thats just the way the dice goes. I'd still have a laugh.
>>1219135Alright, at this point you really do seem to be doing this to cause shit. You say you drop it, then continue it. Then a bunch of people with fresh ips pop up and complain about it. It seems rather sketchy.
>>1219138I didn't actually mind it. Just the idea of it gets on my nerves. I've had the same argument several times back on /tg/.
>>1219139>>1219141OK, I'm being baited then. Neither of these things had anything to do with what orange ID said or what I asked.Good job, you got me.
>>1219144My bait is of only the finest quality.
>>1219130This. If I thought it was important those rolls would have stayed as they were. They were player attack rolls, too, not defense rolls that could have gotten someone captured.
>>1219144>>1219142Nah. More so was waiting for an explanation like >>1219147I mean you guys were defending it being a re-roll.
Can anyone explain how the ship guns in the Corebook were statted? I've been trying to figure it out for a hour and a half and I just can't.Also, what the fuck were they thinking hot having port and broadside weapons on ships? That's like having a PB&J without peanut butter.
>>1219154You should probably use the scaling rules in the ATM instead.
>all this arguing about dice but no one is sending starving children in Africa their bad dice Fucking selfish pricks I tell you hwat.
>>1219153Yes, because relying solely on luck in a system that is more strategy based is a bad idea. I have given my reason before and you side stepped it to keep pushing, using other angles than refuting the point. You are not arguing in good faith.
>>1219156That's what I've been trying to do. But whether I use Corvette or Starship scale, I can't figure out how they got the stats like they are. A starship scale 1K beam gun would have 5 times the range of the Medium Battery and cost about 400 CP less, and a Corvette Scale 10K beam gun would have ~1000 meters more range and cost about 700 CP less unless I'm missing something huge.
>>1219142It's sketchier that he started with y'all and "the QM" when normally everyone calls me Wong.
>>1219162You use strategy to counter the possibility of things going bad. Not the other way around. In other words: Your strategy should be planned for the possibility of bad dice rolls. Dice shouldn't be re-roll to make your plans work.I said it twice because I think you're simple.
>>1219165I figured he just decided to read a random thread and then decided to troll by ignoring what people are arguing from there.
>>1219165You're too used to namefags. I did only start posting when the last Amos arc ended and haven't really interacted much because all the "offscreen" stuff has been about people making Mechs for the competition lately.Sort of hard to jump in at that point.Besides, what's wrong with y'all?
Honestly I have no idea why this quest got all these namefags?
>>1219168Nah just BR fags ranting about his friend he wants to suck off but can't because he has a rich GF was better than the whole fanfic arc.Or at least more relatable.
>>1219175Propably so people know who made what mech, I might namefag just for the upcoming tourney and then drop it after if Wong has us rolling for them. Also, pot, kettle.
>>1219180Does that say it's corrupted for anyone else but still it's playing?
>>1219180Did you watch Trumps address to Congress last night? Nice to see a united Congress that can finally get things done.
>>1219175Autism levels became super focused when the tournament thing started. Stopped cluttering the quest in other ways though.
>>1219182>Also, pot, kettle.I know but still
>>12191864/10 the first was tangentially related
>>1219166Except part of the strategy is allocating luck and MV to alleviate those bad rolls. Which cannot be done efficiently due to the nature of a quest format. Likewise, it is difficult to do most strategies because it requires a consensus which usually goes to the simplest path.Mind you, we showed some good strategy in the Amos line with planning the Dam attack, the flooding, and all that came from it. Either way, we use a very simplified system compared to how mekton is done and that does come at the cost of strategy and complexity used to balance the dice. Now are done with the ad hominum, or should I repeat what I posted before that you seemed to have missed?>>1219175..Thunderbird, you were our initial name fag. Pretty sure you opened up pandora's box.

Does anyone know where the out of scale spaces rules are?
>>1219281>>1219243The fact he's keeping his promises and showing his competence when dealing with the media helps a lot. The first 100 days are usually treated as a joke, but plenty has been done in only 30 days. Seeing those dems in white trying to protest made things worse for them. going to be a wild ride.
>>1219294> But the Media is the good guys! It's like, yeah free media is good. Unrestrained media that clearly has an agenda, not so much.Pretty sure the recent election results shows that most mainstream media isn't "the voice of the people". Because that's what elections are for.
>>1219164Yeah, I was trying to wrap my head around that too with the Roadstriker stats. I think the ATM rules are supposed to replace the rules in core.
>>1219327they are really not written to work side-by side, that is for sure. Then again, the core rulebook system was not all that great, and the ATM system is flexible enough that you should be able to make whatever you want, so overall the new system is a plus.
>>1219386No, it's not a matter or choosing one over the other. I was trying to make a ship balanced for the Wongverse, so I wanted to figure out how the corebook ship weapons were made with the ATM Scaling Rules. But they're impossible to even roughly recreate with the ATM. Make a gun with similar stats and it costs less than half. Make a gun with similar cost and it completely eclipses the Corebook weapons.
>>1219399You know... Maybe we should just go full autistical for gen two and make ships from the normal rules instead and fluff it as "techonological advancement".
>>1219404Say no more. I already have an idea. Could have Caesar be the captain of it.
>>1219432My idea was making the USS Enterprise. Why do my ideas always seem so much more boring that everyone else's?
>>1219452Because you went with the Star Trek option instead of a super robot option. It's like you don't want to ram your ship into the enemy!
>>1219457But I went with the WWII option.
>>1219460I mean... if you set up the big deck(I know nothing of naval stuff) as some sort of high speed mech catapult/accelerator I could see it working. Treat it like a 1 turn Booster Pack or something
>>1219476You just call it a flight deck. And I had thought about something like that, but you can only get up to 12 MA on your first turn of movement so it wouldn't help all that much.
>>1219218Happy to be of service, hope you and your friend work shit out.So has the tournament actually started yet or are we still setting things up?I've kinda been missing threads ever since Amos's last battle with the Greenman. Also Fuck fairchild, not for any particular reason, just because she's fairchild, and also a wannabe killstealing bitch.
>>1219476>>1219486From a mechanical standpoint, you could stat the flight deck as an Arm servo, fitted with numerous Handy Melee Weapon catapults.Carrying the Mekton-grabbing-Roadstriker rules into Ship scale - and noting that Ships are not limited to Actions, and can instead fire all their weapons in a single turn - should allow you to easily throw your complement of grabbed mechs a number of Hexes equal to the number of Kills in your flight deck servo divided by 2.
>>1219491I swear, either she has Empathy 2 or Cool 2. She has high attractiveness and Int(likely with a sky high education), but with how easy she is to troll and her complete lack of understanding the situation, those two stats just feel low.
>>1219508That's... kinda ridiculous. And not balanced for the scale. I was going to make it Medium Weight, so if I used a MW Arm it would throw a mech 350 Hexes.
>>1219523Scaling rules are the least balanced part of the Mekton Zeta rules anyway. Also bear in mind that if you don't actually use Ship-scale melee weapons for your catapults (which you probably won't), your GM also probably won't let you scale the throw distance by 100. Using Roadstriker-scale weapons would probably be far more economical, and throw your mechs a somewhat more reasonable distance of 35 Hexes.
>>1219534>Roadstriker-scale weaponsYou mean Corvette, right? And that would make more sense that what I had said. A bonus is that since they're out of scale they wouldn't take up a lot of spaces per catapult, which is good because I can fit a lot of hangars since it won't have weapons and having 1 catapult per mech launched might be fair. I'd have to think about it more.
>>1219551>You mean Corvette, right?Yes, my bad.
>>1219154Ships guns are on page 77. Ships could use a lot more customization options as well. Like shit a bay full of drone mecha or something.
>>1219268We didn't want you to get deported.
>>1219513Roarke has a massive social situational bonus against her for obvious reasons.
>>1219671Oh, thats okay then.
>>1219551Well I've run into the snag of being able to launch 35 mechs a turn, but only being able to fit 7 of the fluffed catapults.
>>1219708>35How did I fuck that up? 18
>>1219708>>1219713How are you able to launch more mechs than you have catapults? And surely you can fit roughly 13 10:1-scale catapults (Base 0.75 CP Handy 1-Kill melee weapon) in a single 100:1-scale Space besides?
>>1219683Because she's secretly tsundere.NTR is Wong's fetish as emphasized by Roarke stealing Clemmy away from Fairchild.
>>1219753I don't want to use a Starship scale arm because I'm already making a lot of stretches already, you know? Going to technical corvette scale hands in a technical starship scale arm servo that throws mechs at a corvette scale distance is a bit much.
>>1219769Ah, you're statting it as a Corvette-scale design, then. For some reason I was under the impression that you were statting it as a Ship.
>>1219683Roarke does have the multi-combo of being his crush's son, screwing over her plans on a constant basis, and taking her OTHER crush, but I meant in general as well. Her showing up during the final battle of Vietnam showed that. In terms of empathy, she showed no consideration to SOUL C and was too into herself to notice Amos is trying to do something important. In terms of cool, turning all your weapons on your ace when he interrupts you AFTER you tell him to interrupt if he has something important to say? Situation aside, it shows a lack of control.Of course, it could just be due to the constant trend of Roarke wrecking her shit and gnawing on the frayed threads of her psyche every chance he could get.
>>1219784Child super soldiers typically do not grow up to be well adjusted people.
>>1219779It's starship scale, I'm just getting the stats out of the corebook since everything but the amount of mechs you can have in a hangar is the same. I want to keep the deck at corvette scale because of the aforementioned stretching.Actually, I'm just going to go away from making the American version of Space Battleship Yamamoto. I'll put more arms on it and fill them all with hands.
>>1219793Except she's not the super soldier in this situation. Too old. Also didn't fit any of the other data we had. No, this is simply the case of pure autism, loud screeching included. Super focused, bad at sudden changes, can't into social cues.
>>1219802It's the space madness, anon.
>>1219761NTR is gross and it's not NTR anyway because Clemmy never returned Fairchild's feelings. At best she would have given it a try after much emotional manipulation, but I doubt it would ever have been real love even if Roarke hadn't seduced her.
>>1219802Shes a sub par super soldier but she was still directly involved in a super soldier project as a child.
>>1219818If we hadn't seduced her then, would there have been opportunities to seduce her after we had met her on the battlefield?
>>1219823If you are talking orange pekoe team, she never took part in it. She was of the age, but being a girl meant she was not considered. Too young to join the war proper as well. In terms of Megabass, she was more a test pilot than a super soldier.
>>1219834You probably need to be some sort of super to be a test pilot for megabass considering trying to pilot it killed a bunch of people and they had to make specially grown people to get it working before Coop swooped in.
>>1219844Not really. She has shown progress in managing bits, but the survival rates were pretty bad even for the genetically modified super soldiers. It may just be a case of her upbringing putting her in a more focused, but safer part of the testing or be after the part where fatalities were high for normal pilots.
>>1219853Its been a while since I read it but I remember her having the best progress out of all the people they had tested to that point. Plus the dude in charge did not seem like the type to go easy on people just because of their background.
>>1219853There were a few factors at play. First, Gerard Biggs couldn't push Fairchild as hard because of her family and risk killing her for the success of the project. Second, she was involved in the earlier stages, controlling a relatively small number of drones, much safer than the later and more...risky...portions of the Megabass project. That said, she was unquestionably a talented prodigy as a young girl and easily could have been part of Team Orange Pekoe if she was a boy (which might also explain her unexpected modicum of sympathy for Naomi when talking to Roarke, emphasis on modicum), and is just as unquestionably an ace pilot today. As for how she behaved towards Amos, keep in mind that she is a tremendous bitch and even though she made the Major write an apology and smiled for the cameras and pins medals on his chest...she doesn't like him one little bit. She likes what he does for her project, yes, but in a way that's even more grating. She has to endure three "stupid, not-cute boys" being the poster children for her precious SOUL project, and its top ace being someone who...well, can you guess why she wouldn't like Colonel Stern?
>>1219872Best progress does not mean super soldier though. In those same words, Coop, who managed to get the thing to work even after all that would be a super soldier. He is not. She has Ace capabilities, but that does not make a someone a super soldier. In a way, this could be part and parcel to Fairchild's issues. She IS an ace. She IS quite capable. But, she is missing that something that makes her stand out in those regards. Kinda like coming in second place in everything, but actually wanting to get 1st in something.
>>1219907>implying Coop isnt a super soldierNot all super soldiers are grown in a lab anon.
>>1219902So "missing that one little thing" is Fairchild's life story then?
>>1219833Not particularly. She would be the axe-crazy murderer that would've every player gunning for her.
>>1219902>stupid, not-cute boys>not-cute boys>Simon not-cuteSimon is the cutest and the strongest. Fairchild confirmed for scum of the earth.
>>1219818Is a joek
>>1219902Because he's not an asshole?
>>1219902Remind me again who's Naomi?
>>1219911Except nothing of his circumstances shown him to be super. Neither trained or gained, he simply stumbled upon it. Thats not a super soldier, thats a guy who managed to get a hold of the BFG in mech form and made it work.>>1219902Luck and smacking Clemmy when she was bullying Jesus, I would have to say personality. Amos' style of thinking is quite different and more inlined with Sterns. Do the right thing, even if there is less glory, do not sacrifice others or cut corners, less subterfuge all around and being generally diplomatic in a goodwill sort of way. Fairchild seems more the chess master. Sacrifice pawns when needed, sit back, take the glory, and goal oriented diplomacy. She had no qualms with losing soldiers if she could take all the glory and was willing to use diplomacy for Rashad so she had more power. Meanwhile, Amos is ok with some glory being taken so long as the job is done with minimal lost of life. Fairchild sees her men as tools. Amos sees his men as comrades and friends. Their very natures are ones that will not mix.
You are, at long last, once again Roarke Susan Starwind, Admiral of the Iron Kestrels and pilot of the Knuckle Kaiser, officially designated as the Black Ogre by the UJCIDF. You are spying on one of your wives-to-be, Karen Cohen, from around the doorway of her room. Not for any particular reason, but just because something cute is going on and you don't want to interrupt.“Onee-sama! Oneeeee-samaaaaa!” The small girl in the witch hat pulls on Karen's cheongsam, practically dancing around her and waving her arms for attention, “I'm not joking! I really saw him, a real bishonen! A BISHONEN, onee-sama!”“What's that, again?” Karen is paying no attention, activating her PC and setting it down on a stand on one of her workbenches, displaying a holoscreen. You can't read the text from here, but it's a series of instructions with a picture of a smiling sunflower and the text JOY OF GARDENING at the top. She carefully examines a series of small vials and packages, and begins mixing something together in a squeezable capule, mostly water. She sniffs it and wrinkles her nose, attaching a tube to the capule's nozzle and opening up a cooler-sized container on top of another toolbench. It's quite ornate, and the blue and gold decorations of the container remind you of Loriette's heraldry. In fact, you can see the goose from her coat-of-arms on the lock. Inside, bright luminotubes line the top and sides of the box, but you can't see what's inside from here.“A boy! A beautiful boy! He makes my kokoro dokidoki oneesama!” The little witch Akai, Bosun of the Storm Dragons, spins in a happy circle, arms outstretched, “Uwaaaah~ I want to be his maiden~” She clasps her hands to her cheeks, smiling blissfully. You try not to burst into laughter at Karen's puzzled expression or the way she wags the slender glass rod she's using to mix chemicals at her self-proclaimed little sister, “Akai! You're too young to be anyone's maiden!” She scolds her.The Storm Dragon puffs up her cheeks and stomps her foot, “I am not! I'm an adult too! Taishou-sama entrusted me with the glorious frame of his original Osano-Wo, and I'm going to fight in Space Jam for the honor of glorious Nippon! I'm old enough to be someone's maiden!”[Continued]
>>1219963Being able to make it work makes him super, weather he stumbled onto it or not. They had vat grown people specially designed to pilot it and Coop is better at it then them.
>>1219963>Thats not a super soldier, thats a guy who managed to get a hold of the BFG in mech form and made it work.Considering plugging into that BFG mech seems to be absolutely fatal for most people from what we've been told it makes him pretty extraordinary.
>>1219964>It's quite ornate, and the blue and gold decorations of the container remind you of Loriette's heraldry. In fact, you can see the goose from her coat-of-arms on the lock. Inside, bright luminotubes line the top and sides of the box, but you can't see what's inside from here.IT BEGINS.
>>1219964Wow, that's so Brazil I'm scared.
>>1219973I can already feel the cringe and anger coming on
>>1219964>“A boy! A beautiful boy! He makes my kokoro dokidoki oneesama!”reading this makes me wanna kill myself.
>>1219958Caesar's girlfriend. Ironically, if you reversed their genders you'd have the stereotypical "jock boy and nerd girl" relationship. She's confident, assertive, and a natural crack shot and ace pilot. He's shy, would rather stay in his room all day, and got good at mecha through obsessive simgame playing.
>>1219983Then I'm doing it right.
>>1219979The Viking is just Thunder, The Weeb is just BR.It seems the characters are just "namefag: the post"I like it.
>>1219994Actually I didn't plan on making Finn anything like myself, I just made him as a character I would enjoy playing which is hot blood crazy men.
>>1219964awww yeah! time for some crazy shit!
>>1219980I was thinking more on the lines of it being one of the few things from a paladin that could be grown that has our mechanic working on it.>>1220006Thunderbird, that is you. A more viking you, but still you.
>>1220006But thunderbird, that is you
>>1220019>>1220028Ya but he wouldn't have given a shit about women, just the Gods. I'm talking Mozgus levels of worship.
>>1219818NTR is definitely something I could never get. But anyways, good to see the threads back on track talking about mecha and how shit Fairchild is.
>>1219963Are you seriously shit talking Coop? The guy who inspires dread in Avalonians? Literally called Dread General Coop?
>>1220066I hear he decided to change his nickname to something less violent and intimidating. Betty.
>>1220006I disagree about you being completely Finn. Not enough edge to be you.
>>1220075Isn't Betty a woman's name?
“It's not Roarke, is it? You had better not be talking about Roarke.” Karen's voice is sweet, but very firm.“That's your bishonen! I have my own!” Akai insists, “I'm going to win his love with my ZA WALKURE!” She imitates a deep voice, “'Oh Akai-chan, let's hold hands and eat lunch together on a rooftop.' Hai hai, Victor-kun~” She hugs herself gleefully. You haven't heard a word about magic curses or dark destinies yet, the love bug must have bitten her hard.“I'm not sure letting you fight is a good idea either. I've seen your sim results and, yes, they're very impressive...but some of the other contestants are hardened killers and elite mercenaries. They're not all gentlemen like Mister Hammer.” Karen squints at Akai's determined expression from behind her glasses, “You're not listening at all, are you?”“Ie!” Akai insists, shaking her head stubbornly, “My bishonen is fighting too!”Karen sighs, shrugs, and goes back to her mixing, “So, is he a Storm Dragon?”Akai blushes, “N-not yet he's not, but Victor-kun has the heart of a true Japanese!”“Not one of Red Siren's fans, I hope?” Karen rolls her eyes.“Ie! He'd never even heard S-Pop until he came to Auditorium!” The little witch continues shaking her head.“Oh, one of our Kestrels, then? That's cute.” Karen huffs with exertion lifting a big glass case out of the glowing box, it's sort of bullet-shaped, cylindrical with a hemispheral top. She attaches the hose to the capule, and squeezes, “Eat up, little flower.” She hums to herself cheerfully, “Grow big and strong for Mama Karen, now.” Akai looks abruptly nervous, “Well, not exactly...”“Akai Inazuma, if you tell me he's a member of the UJCIDF I'm going to tell your Captain right now.” Karen threatens without rancor, “Caesar has a girlfriend, she's just...not here right now, not yet.” She sounds like she's joking.“N-no! They hate him! Alice-sama bullied him and beat up his mech, so he made a better one for space!” Akai pokes her fingertips together.Karen sighs, “Avalonian. Right. Of course. What else could he possibly be?” [Continued]
>>1220084Hopefully, you don't learn that iron claws fucking hurt, man.>>1219964>>1220093Yep, this is great. I applaud you.
>>1220066Not at all. Rather I see Coop as quite a threat. But he is a threat due to his machine, not due to innate greatness. I mean, if it had to be a high HMIS capacity or something, that means JESUS could be a super soldier. Bloody JESUS!No, to me Super Soldier is not some title you get from being lucky. You earn that shit through sweat and tears. Amos is someone I would consider a super soldier in the making. He's been forged in napalm fire and fed the corpses of Paladins and greenmen alike as fuel for his growth.Which reminds me, his shield. I think it's modeled or uses materials from the Paladin he shot down.
>>1220084>>1220097I fucking love this playerbase.
>>1220093what have I wrought?
>>1220101He literally has the super human power to not have his brain melted out of his head by a doomsday weapon. Hes better at it than actual super soldiers who were made specifically to use it. He couldn't be more of a super soldier if he tried.
>>1220101I'd just like to point out that nobody else but Coop was able to command the full-strength Megabass and that trying caused neural overload and frequently death. It's a mech so big that it has a pair of Heavy Cruiser-sized starships for wings, with a fleet of drones.
>>1220122yeah..not good. IT'S AMAZING!
>>1220134Well you went down the wrong side of the spectrum but to each his own I guess.
>>1220084So what you're saying is we are going to Honeydick "Betty"?
>>1219964>>1220093The Storm Dragon's are the best, and Akai is the cutest maiden. If she don't win this whole damn thing ill be crying salty tears for the next few year.
>>1220133It's cool, guy is just delusional. Piloting something that can fuck up a planet doesn't make you super.
>>1220146By we, I mean you.
>>1220153Put your trip back on Brazil no one is falling for it
“His heart is Japanese! We're going to have thirty babies once he gets married to me! You have to help me win his heart, oneesama!” Akai insists, “Even with my strongest love spells, I need to seal the deal!”Karen looks at her sidelong, “Well, you can always do what I did...”You need to stop this before she tells Akai things you hope she isn't prepared to hear.Karen smiles, “Build him a mech!”Akai pouts, “I don't know how!”Karen chuckles and pats her head. Or, rather, her hat, “Then stick to love spells, and when you feel like the time is right, tell him how you feel.”Akai huffs, “Fine! Don't help me, oneesama! I understand what you're saying, I need to do it myself! I, the Crimson Witch of the Storm Dragons, will ensnare him in my net of love! Just you watch!” She spins on her heel and stomps out of the room with determination. It would be impressive if she wasn't tiny, “Oh, and your bishonen is here! He's peeping at you!”You have never seen Karen move so fast, putting the thing in the glass case back in the box with the capule still attached so quickly her arms blur, shoving the box under her workbench, and spinning around to face you while standing in front of it, “Oh Roarke! How long have you been there!” Her gaze is suspiciously shifty. She hops up onto the edge of the desk and draws one knee up against her chest, exposing a lot of very smooth leg and doing her best attempt at a distractingly seductive expression, “You should have called out, it embarrasses me when you stare like that!” She twirls the tip of one pigtail around her finger.>[Hi Karen]>[What's in the box, Karen?]>[Flatter her]
