Welcome back, SOUL officers, to the seventy-sixth installment of Mecha Space Pirate Quest. As always, I'm Wong, your host, and today you are still Lieutenant Amos A. Wedge of UJCIDF SOUL.Previous Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Mecha+Space+Pirate+Quest%2C+Collective+Game%2C+mechahttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Mecha%20Space%20Pirate%20QuestMaster Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/sSHs0QmFUpgrade Menu: http://pastebin.com/QQQzkFZeList of Moves: http://pastebin.com/HSdyCe2yRogues' Gallery: http://pastebin.com/E9ZcDLfGBrazilia's Kawaii Space Jam Gallery: http://pastebin.com/pZtRmbWSLast time, you dealt with the many burdens of command, but now you're back at the Dam. There's no need to go into what a struggle it was getting Keith's Warmouth and the one-legged Betta-MP back, but you do it in time.Irina and the technicians run through the mission log of the three Betta-MPs, in search of the truth, and you receive no resistance from the dispirited pink-haired girls. Your girlfriend, though, isn't able to help very much. After a certain point, during a flyover of a sleepy little Qu'liri village, you see a bloom of fire from the rooftop of one of the villages. There's a wash of static, then, and Lyra's feed goes dead. Lyanna and Lara's last long enough to show you a small anti-mech missile hitting Lyra's mech before they too go dead. Irina promises that, if you all survive this, she'll keep digging and figure out the cause, but her best guess is that it was a result of sudden electrical overload although the break in footage is oddly clean. Their ASP systems are entirely fried. As for Jesus, he surprises you too. There's talk of borrowing someone else's Warmouth for him, as a member of SOUL, and jury-rigging it for sniping...but he refuses. Instead, he asks if there are any mecha currently lacking pilots. After scanning a list, he selects one that surprises you, the humble Pumpkinseed I Sniper of the late Sergeant O'Neil, killed during the Dam Raid. It can't use his beloved custom rifle, but he shrugs it off, "I'd be a poor sniper if I could only use one gun." He says, and gets some practice in with the Pumpkinseed's Iskander, patterned with the ancient Celtic designs O'Neil favored in life. The one modification he does insist on, however, is the addition of a white V-fin crest to the Pumpkinseed's head, stating something to the effect of it being his signature style, the V is an ancient gesture for both victory and peace.

Scattershot only has 5 bursts, so it's 3.6 CP Although it's my fault for not being specific so my apologies.2. you're spaces are off. You're forgetting that it's multi-feed 2, so it carries two clips of ammo at the same time, so the spaces should be 23.16 before mating and 17.41 after. so 6.5 CP worth of Space Efficiency would be needed to bring it down below 5 spaces.

“Cheer up, asshole.” Garret tells you as your three mecha sit on the edge of the dam, cockpit hatches down so the three of you can sit on them and talk in the open air.You grunt at him. You just made your report to Colonel Luxol, who confirmed that the evacuation is well enough underway that the remaining presence of the Archimedes and Petronius is no longer required. He's taken those ships into the atmosphere, and sent the order for two of your remaining vessels to join him. They'll form a wall against any last-minute Avalonian reinforcements and oversee the fight from high above. The biggest difficulty about fighting the Avalonian battleship is that its beam batteries outclass anything you've ever heard of carried by a Jovian ship, so they're hesitant to get into a gunfight with something that can shoot them down from that kind of range. “H-he's right.” Simon says, “Ever since they made you squad leader you've been...what did you call him?”“An attenuated, enervated, eviscerated caricature of cuntishness.” Garret quips, “Fortunately, there's a cure.”You grunt again, staring out into the mist. Damn this weather, the sun is up, but it's so cloudy overhead and so foggy below that you have no idea where the horizon is, there's just a diffuse glow amidst the grey somewhere, and the shapes of trees poking up through the fog like looming ghosts.“And what would that cure be?” Simon asks patiently.Garret grins, “Have a drink, then we go kill every last Knight on this planet and go home heroes. Come on, Amos, I know they've chipped away at your lovable innocence with all of this nonsense ever since you shot down the Berenger, and I know you're under a lot of pressure...but you've got to bend with it. Get all rigid and you'll just break.” He tosses you a flask. You know you can't afford to get drunk right now, but one sip won't hurt, so you take one, making a face at its contents, “What is this, paint thinner?”“That's how you know it's the good stuff.” Garret replies. You smile, and take another sip before re-corking it and tossing it back. Garret shakes the flask next to his ear suspiciously, listening to the sound it makes, “Don't have too much fun. You know who we're facing. Something tells me that this Paladin isn't going to underestimate us as much as the first one did.”[Continued]
>>1147039>...and then the jovian finally realized why the Avalonians say that the Lady is a (((Godess)))
>>1147047I actually do hate the Lady. I was just making a joke...>>1147052She's a good whore?
>>1147052nah its the spores that make them say that.
>>1147048>I know they've chipped away at your lovable innocence with all of this nonsense ever since you shot down the BerengerThe first casualty in Vietnyam is innocencehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfxqZagHXbM

>>1147086tell that to the cats
>>1147089this shit goes beyond spores. what was done to them is alot more invasive
>>1147086Now see here that is something someone infected with spores would say
Garret tosses the flask to Simon, who also takes a sip...and handles it better than either of you...before giving you both an encouraging grin. His S-Squilla hulks above the S-Delphinius and S-Pyxicephalus. He goes to throw it back, but a sudden rumble shakes the dam and he misses, the flask gleaming as it tumbles end over end into the mist below.“Go get it.” Garret crosses his arms, then hurriedly yells out, “Wait, I was kidding! Don't worry about it!” As Simon grabs his liftwire to go chasing after the lost flask. You duck into your mech to check your instruments, not even needing to hear the flurry of Arabic warnings from the Scimitar pilots to know what it is. Gerin approaches. Gerin is here. What you hear is the tread of hundreds of Knights marching in perfectly disciplined lockstep, rebel infantry milling around their feet, and as the fog burns away from its thrusters you can see an immense scarlet needle hovering above the trees. The damned thing is bigger than a Wels-class, even taking into account that a Wels is a relatively short and fat-headed ship for its mass and Avalonian ships resemble long, slender lances.Something is sitting on top of its prow. You can just barely see it in the ambiguous light, a dark shape only visible where its outline mars the smooth curves of the enemy vessel. You can't tell anything else, but something about that position speaks of arrogance and poise, like some ancient king riding out to face his enemies on the back of his mightiest war-elephant. A shudder runs down your spine. Even if there wasn't the unspoken expectation that you, as the one who brought down the Berenger, would face this one, you would have to do it. You're SOUL, Special Operations are your job, and there is nothing at all normal about fighting a Paladin.[Continued]

The vidcomm request is simultaneously broadcast to every ship, every mech, in your assembled forces. Even Irina, tucked safely on board one of the ships in the atmosphere, probably gets a look. The man on the other side of the holoscreen could easily be related to Hector Van Damme. Tall, broad-shouldered, with dark hair that looks somewhat spiky and disheveled, you'd guess because he just removed his helmet. Honestly, there's nothing very remarkable about him, or his white armor, despite the fact it's been shaped like a muscled chest, or his purple cloak. Until you see his eyes. You can see the whites all the way around the iris, which is never a good sign. It would be a mistake to call them the eyes of an animal. Animals are rational, they aren't consciously cruel. They act to survive with minimal effort, nearly always. This is different, you get the sense that he likes hurting people.“Is that all?” He scoffs, rubbing a hand against his face, “Just this many? A handful? Two? A dozen handfuls?” He starts laughing, “By the Lady, it's pathetic. I'm not the same as that old witch, I don't give speeches to inferior beasts, so enjoy my words while they last, pigs! Don't bother running! Don't bother trying to surrender! If you want this to be quick and easy, come at me all at once so I can kill you in a hurry!” He smiles and spreads his arms wide, “I'm feeling magnanimous, so I'll forgive you for this insult and kill you like warriors. After all, it wouldn't matter how many you sent. Even a million maggots are still just maggots!”You pick up the detonator left in your cockpit, and flip up the top to expose the button beneath. “Ah, this is better. I wish I had joined the ambush on your pathetic ship. All I've had to fight lately are your regular forces. I was getting rusty.” He shrugs, with an innocent smile, “Of course, I asked and was turned down, the old lady was right when she said I would have just killed you all...but really, what made it her decision? So she's my senior, so what? All she's given Avalon is two useless girls and a lot of religious twaddle, killing her and then killing you would have been a service to the Lady. Just so you know, piggies, I'm giving you a lot of credit when I say you aren't entirely useless. Once I've reduced this world to a crisp, I'll give it to the Lady as a gift. She'll see that I'm more valuable than the others, and hey...who knows the future? Maybe I'll get to rape that silly little girl on the throne in front of her brain-dead knight, marry the Lady, and rule this galaxy myself, heh?” He lifts his eyebrows, “Just thinking aloud, piggies. Master Belegor has no interest in ruling, and that's fine. So long as I grow strong enough to challenge him, give him a clean fight, and one of us dies, he'll be happy no matter the outcome. That's what he calls the way of living things.”[Continued]

Too far from the borders, I could tecnically take a plane tomorrow to either USA or Canada, but the flights are probably already full and I would have to spend some money in hotels and etc...I live near a florest with a big wall to the side of the house that leads to civilization, I should be fine if nobody tries to go thorugh the florest to get here, and even if they do I still have the dogs. Its more of a matter of how much time my food will last...There is also family to worry about.Worst case scenario I could hide with my sensei and his veteran friends for a while, they are well armed and crazy enough to survive anything after two wars.

“Oh, right, before I forget, where's the Blue Knight? We have some stupid operational name for him now, but I don't really care about that. History will forget him once he's-” He continues.“Hey, asshole.” You interrupt him, “Wrap it up. I miss my filthy peasant hovel and I get to go home once I've finished you off.”“Hey, you little shit, you're one of the few people on your side who can call himself a human being. Why don't you do me a favor? Dig up the Father of Qu'lir for me. Get some proper dirt under your fingernails like the peasant you are, remember the smell of shit and think fondly of your filthy peasant hovel, and I'll let you live long enough to finish the job, at least. After that, I'll take your head and put it on a spike. Now hurry up and-”“I mean today. Listen, only the first Paladin is special. Twenty words or less.” You interrupt him again, watching your sensor screen closely, watching his forces draw closer and closer. “Consider that offer canceled. You're the Blue Knight, aren't you? Let me tell you exactly how I-” Clearly he's about to tell you about all of the awful things he's going to do to you and everyone you love.“Twenty.” You inform him smugly, and hit the detonator.Dozens of carefully placed charges set into the dam explode all at once.

The valley itself is the easiest way to approach the dam on foot, which is easy on the Knights and infantry, but...it also does something else. It acts as a funnel. The explosions tear open the mighty concrete wall of the dam, sending stones spraying through the air like teeth punched from a mouth, and a wall of murky, dirty water laced with rocks and chunks of rotting vegetation roars through the valley like the fist of the planet itself. The Knights in the vanguard, big and heavy as they are, are swept off their feet and vanish into the spray while the infantry simply ceases to exist. Your forces were all prepared, and took to the air or spread out to positions along the top of the valley when you set off the blast, but you know that many of the Knights are going to survive that. Even Avalonian mecha have sealed systems good enough to function in space, even if they're clumsy. As the water rushes towards the low-hovering battleship, you prepare to give the order to sweep down and blast anything coming out of the water. With any luck, they had units on board the ship who will be trapped inside until it pulls clear...and that's when you see an energy signature from the ship you never expected.“He can't be...” You hear Captain Asphodel stammer over the line.“EVADE! ALL UNITS EVADE!” You grab your buddies and JET, the three SOUL units soaring into the air. Not all of your troops are that quick.A searing fusillade composed of lines of light thicker around than any tree rips through the wall of water, flash-evaporating it and causing billowing clouds of steam to mingle with the lingering mist. It's so foggy you can't see anything, you're floating in a grey void made worse by the fact that you're trying to blink the dazzle out of your eyes. From the dozens of contact icons that vanish from your screen, you realize not everyone was as lucky as you. Avoiding a starship's primary cannon batteries is easy for a mech, but the shockwave and all of the other obstacles around in an atmosphere environment, plus the explosion of so much plasma in one place at once, is much more lethal. The sheer amount of heat left over from the blast is making your ASP have trouble giving you a picture of what's around you, but from a glint you catch through your visual sensors you can guess that the scarlet ship is lifting itself ponderously above the flood, and likely dispensing any remaining Knights it had aboard.“He...his own men...” Simon stammers.“Yeah.” Garret replies bitterly, “Anyone who got caught up in our trap and survived just got boiled like an egg.”[Continued]

>>1147740In Suikoden two it took multiple archer ambushes, three full parties of 6 characters, followed by a personal duel between him and the protagonist to finally end him.As he famously said, it took hundreds to kill him, but he killed people by the thousands.
>>1147753From what we know, he's got a barrier thats pretty impressive. Might require 10k-12k to crack or it's ablative. It's something that can shrug off the war crime in the box, so we best unload missiles at that thing. Hopefully we repurposed the ones from the dam. Aside from that, I expect melee.. and possibly fire.
You know, this actually went a lot quicker than expected. That's it for tonight, and tomorrow we go straight into combat in the fog. >>1147837>>1147840Easier definitely isn't always better. You also made a good decision in talking to Samantha, who is in her own way a sort of worst-case scenario insurance (granted, if she gets hurt trying to help you, you might have to deal with an angry Roarke)

>>1147876Good night and good luck
>>1147876>>1147859Well, it implies a few things. First off; she has enough fire power to just flat out handle an army of 500 knights and the paladin. Second, she can drop enough firepower to simply break ablative shields. Third; she could trivialize the bloody greenman we are facing. The plus side is that she doesn't get to be a war hero and is thus easier to deal with politically.
>>1147719That is absolutely heretical. That isn't Knightly at all. Also Wong who would be a fitting pilot for the Epyon if you were to introduce it?
>>1147956Whoever becomes the Milliardo expy.
>>1147956The question is, how many troops remained? Infantry is gone. Any knight on the field is gone. We could be looking at anywhere from 75% to 90% of their mech forces gone, and just leaving Ford's best left. Going to assume he has A-class crew, but A-class crew in knights are likely killable with that penalty.
Question: would a Roadstriker that transformed into the Torso section of a bigger mech be considered a Combiner or something else?
I think Wong died of Caffeine Withdrawal.
>>1148165Sounds like those vehicle cockpits. As is, gonna compile a list of all 'positives' that may or may not make our life easier.>Simon and Garret are alive and using their SOUL machines.>Amos has a fully functional(and boosted) machine. His experiences are probably pushing him on the cusp of 18s.>Berenger is down. No double paladins.>The Greenman's bioarmor is weakened and likely unable to support Ford directly. All cultists are dead or gone.>By doing the fight here, we prevent Ford from possibly fusing with the bioarmor.>Sammy and Kestrel Support is possible.>Hector and Elizabeth are out of combat, but could likely serve as support.>Martians are alive and provide extra support.>Missiles from the damn dam could be used to damage ford's shield.>While some men are lost, the enemy has just sacrificed the majority of it's forces including infantry that could have critted us.>Jesus has matured, but is using a lesser mech. Means he's easier to control and less likely to make the same mistake.
>>1148207He said he was going to end early today since tomorrow is going to be nothing but combat.
>>1148211The most worrying thing is that Sam is here and her mech is delicate. She could easily get fucked if he get a hold of her.
>>1147890Bethany Cabot does not trivialize the Gerin. Nothing really trivializes a Paladin.
>>1147979Anything in front of the battleship flying over his troop column, yes. I think you're suffering from wishful thinking if you believe 75% of his army is gone.
>>1148268Effectively, their infantry force should be gone. Considering that it was mostly drawn from the locals, they fact that the vanguard got washed away and flash boiled would have meant any survivors would have likely broken and ran. Even assuming like 20-30% casualties for the infantry force, the rest of the indigenous infantry support is probably spent.
>>1148230Would require her to be close to have that be an issue. Even if it's just pulling a Bosun or helping to thin the enemy, she has uses.>>1148265>>1148268Point and damn. Hopefully it is a good number. 48 plus any from Sammy's mines of 500 were taken out before hand, so about 450 remain. If that blast took out dozens of ours and we were already 4 to 1 with them having the edge, then we are going to be hurting in terms of the mech portion depending on the percentage loss.
>>1148293Annd I realized that contacts can mean enemy as well so the numbers could be less than I thought.
>>1147322Sorry, mate! Long story short, ontop of caring for my nephew, my sister in law had another child, gorgeous little girl. So I've been mind bogglingly busy
If you were to fill a pod full of thrusters and the pod got hit do the thrusters have kills or does it just go straight to the torso?
>>1148557The thrusters would be hit 1 per kill.
>>1149079Well thats manageable. Still a pretty nasty downside but manageable.
>>1149114It's one of the disadvantages that come with thruster pods. A nice, constant speed at the cost of weight and vulnerability. Pretty expensive too if you factor in weight reduction, but it will last you indefinitely compared to booster packs.
>>1149147They kind of suck honestly. Leaving a big gaping hole in your defense like them is very sub optimal.
>>1149186Not necessarily. You have to understand is that to hit the torso you need to empty out the pod first. Pods hold some of the largest spaces possible and since 1 kill is 1 thruster, they do have a lot of "health".
>>1149204If they are used to hold thrusters maybe. If they are used to hold a gun or a reactive shield or something they are a bit of a liability.
>>1147831>You've done a lot right, but I can't honestly call it the "easier" end when one potential circumstance has Bethany Cabot as your wingwoman trivializing everything. That's too bad.not really
>>1149204Each space also costs as much as using space efficiency for the same amount. Pods are really only useful if your GM is limiting space efficiency.
Made a dumb thing after thinking about boosting in armored core 4.http://pastebin.com/zBddwGFPMost expensive thing I have stated so far, 90 CP spent entirely on going fast. Completely sub optimal use of CP. Think I'll see if I can make a Zeong with combiners next.
>>1149318Its also not even that fast all things considered.
>>1149250>the censor circles are invisible when you expand itThat's funnier than it should be.
Nope.Fuck the Zeong, combiners are black magic and I dont want none..
>>1149357Honestly, I just used wire bits for the arms and a split power system so the head could detach. Been working on a Sazabi though. The beam shotgun is giving me the hardest trouble since the two versions that would allow it are subpar in their own way.
>>1149332I don't like censorship, but if you have to censure, at least try to make it look cool.
>>1149381You need to make space on the torso for them to fit though. Also not sure how it works when the head is mech of its own with a pretty beefy beam gun.
>>1149396Thats why you go for the biggest class you can get, then space efficiency. To do the Zeong right, it needs to be big and cost a rediculous amount.
Still alive, what are our current strategies on the Paladin? What do we know about him? And from where did we get it?Can elizabeth help Keith? They must be on same level now that he is piloting a Pumpkinseed.
>>1149620How would she help him? Pretty sure hes still better than her with guns regardless of what mech hes in.
>>1149620Our primary knowledge right now is that he has a impressive shield. Ablative, active, or reactive, it's hard to tell, but I have a feeling it's ablative reactive(since even a 20 kill attack wouldn't harm a reactive shield). As is, I say our biggest foe will be the mist. Need to stay together and not get separated.I am not sure how the army's morale is like, but destroying the ship and Lucas could shatter it. Plus side is there is a clearish path forward now. We cannot get swarmed, and we cannot get bogged down though.
“Stay together.” You warn your squad. “Our greatest enemy right now is the mist, Gerin's still a ways away.” You feel a little bad for the line units, the smoke and fog is a lot harder on mecha that don't have the advanced sensors yours do. On the other hand...the Knights don't have them either. The three of you sail down over the flooded valley in formation, matching the speed of your slowest member, the heavy S-Squilla. “Incoming.” Garret warns, “It looks like there were Knights behind the battleship and probably being dispersed from its mechbays.”“How many?” You inquire, as your own screen starts to light up with enemy contact icons.“Too many.” He replies, and you nod in agreement, your screen is glowing like one of those Christian Solday trees with the signatures of approaching Knights, now, “What do you want to do?”Once again, you think of the troops behind you, as the first Knights lumber out of the mist, awkwardly moving along hilltop paths on either side of the valley, “We're the tip of the spear. Wipe them out. Our troops are outnumbered as it is, we need to make it as easy for them as possibly by evening the score.”>[Start rolling dice. Your rolls will be used for all three members of your squad, so don't just roll twice, roll three times in succession at least. Plain 1d10s, for once. Amos has +14 to dodge and parry, +15 to shoot, +16 to beamlance, +17 for missiles. Garret has a total of 18 before penalties, but his Pyxicephalus is heavier, so he has +13 to dodge and +14 to beam gatling, +15 for missiles. Simon is in the same boat. +13 to dodge, parry, or use his grappling attacks and bite, +16 to punch. Jove be with you.]

>>1150606well, if he didn't make it so each gun fires at one spot he could roll more, but I think in terms of stability and just shredding that part into a fine mist, his choice is better.
>>1150606Generally what I do when Garret rolls a crit is that I roll the crit itself ONCE, and the remaining three shots hit a random location thrice. However, Garret isn't even rolling on the crit table this fight, just at locations, because he's maximizing shooting bits off them rather than doing things like clip off their shields or destroy their thrusters that aren't as useful versus mooks.
>>1150520If this countinues, we would win in about 14 minutes.
>>1150636Hm.... Wouldn't the crit cause 12 shots?> I roll the crit itself ONCE, and the remaining three shots hit a random location thrice.Sounds fair... but isn't this just 10 shots? What happens to the othe two?
>>1150645Thats assuming we keep the course. Dice are dicks and as seen, our dodge rolls are not that high. 50ish were taken out beforehand and their entire front was wiped. We also got allies and CIWS so it might be even quicker. Either way, in a battle this big, momentum is key. Each dead A-class means one less threat for our allies.
jesus christ but soal three is what stern wanted wasn't it?we are just wrecking them
>>1150520My excuse is that their best ones are in the middle now trying to divide the Jovian formation in the fog and are running into the SOUL trio. B-rankers in Knights are no longer a huge threat to SOUL C. Jesus, the Betta MPs, and others are fighting on either side of you somewhere in the smoke.
>>1150671A good point. Bs and Cs(maybe even Ds) are likely the bulk, but the As are indeed a major threat for this. If the other fronts hold up well, and dealt with similar numbers, it'd certainly put the hurting on them. Course, knights versus snipers and stealth fighters are likely in trouble as well.
>>1150661Their attacks doesn't even ablate our shields, we could continue to this for a long time with minimal risk, and the risk goes even lower if the A-crews end.>>1150671Rolling for them for a round or two could be fun, but you decide.
>>1150711Don't think there is a need. The ones facing Jesus, Simons notagirlfriend and a more competent Iok would never be close enough for their attacks to hit. The ones dealing with the three black stars are just going to be ambushed again and again. Our front is probably the one with the most risk because we don't make those roles so much worse trying to hit far away or hidden foes.

>>1150851>Implying Amos won't nuke the knights and they won't throw the cockpit into the explosion.
There are a dozen of them. In contrast to the rather plain grey armor of the bulk of the Gerin's understudies, these Knights are painted blinding white, with a snarling wolf's-head emblem on each left pauldron. They march with smooth discipline, forming up in a double-layered phalanx with their lances angled like a hedgehog's spikes towards you. From their movements, you can tell that they've worked together often, and from the hatchmarks burned into their armor beneath the wolfheads, you can tell that they've killed a fair number of Jovians before. They outnumber you four to one, and although you hear the sounds of battle on all sides and see the flash of plasma in the mist and steam and smoke from what your temperature scanners tell you are burning trees, you are for the moment alone. It takes less than twenty seconds to kill them all. You and Simon drop into their formation with the recklessness of two warhorses gone mad enough to brave the enemy's line of pikes. Your lance skewers one through the chest, then sweeps out and around in an arc that cuts through two more. They topple to the ground in pieces. One ducks away from Simon, turning to aim his lance at your powerplant, but you catch his weapon by the tip and cut his Knight in half from shoulder to groin. Those four were lucky. Even though Simon's mech doesn't have the same berserk energy it did when you first faced it, it's fast and relentless, and the glowing fields around its hands scoop through mech armor like warm mud, creating an odd mixture of effortlessness and brutality as he renders three of them into scrap in the blink of an eye. Garret's artillery mech isn't necessarily the best for this kind of work, but despite that he focus-fires on two of them, bolts of plasma searing the air. One's cockpit is cored immediately, and it sags as his remaining shots put big holes through the rest of its torso. The other is luckier, marginally, it loses its head and one arm, and as it twists away Garret shoots it through the back of the knee, cutting its limb in half. The three survivors back off, as the downed one fumbles around for a lance with its remaining arm and lifts it to shoot. You casually block cannonfire with your shield as you advance, slashing two down with one blow as Garret pre-empts Simon going for another by turning its entire torso into shredded metallic confetti before finishing off the downed one in a hail of fire.[Continued]

Alright, THAT should do it. Problem fixed for now.
“This is Captain Brian Asphodel of the JSS Suetonius. All units, hold your ground, our sensors reveal that we have the more defensible position. They're coming to us.” A massive thunderclap splits the air, and the shockwave buffets you even from here, “Confirmed battery fire from the overwatch ships. Don't expect a full artillery barrage, our boys up above don't want to hit us, but they'll keep that beam cannon off our backs. Good luck and...” You hear muffled swearing over the comms line, “Really? NOW? By Jove how...” The line muffles and you hear more swearing, then his voice returns, once more calm but with an edge on it you last heard when he was chewing you out under the impression that you'd seduced Irina for a better gun, “Our sensors confirm the Mekong-class Iulia Maesa has emerged from warp and is entering Qu'lir's orbit. Once again.” He puts so much into those last two words, you feel for him, you really do.“Credit-stealing bitch.” Garret comments quietly. The S-Squilla and your mech vigorously jerk their heads up and down in ageement.“Every fucking time.” He adds.“W-what if she reviews the commlog and hears you?” Simon asks, wiping bits of Knight off the S-Squilla's fingers.“I hope she does. I'm tired of her bullshit. If she didn't keep pulling her clout with the senate to interfere, General Oman could have stayed around and we could have just firebombed Gerin from space.” Garret growls.“That's going too far.” You remark, “There are civilian populations along his route that would have been affected.”“I know, it's wishful thinking, but there have to have been at least a few points where we could have hit them. I'm tired of her treating SOUL like her personal cheerleader squad and the UJCIDF like her Jove-damned armchair. I hope Roarke Starwind bones Lieutenant Farragut every day, and I hope she knows about it.”“I hope they have the happiest marriage in the galaxy. I hope she's great for him and he's great for her.” Simon always does find the nicest way to put it.“I hope they have kids together.” You remark.“Yeah? I hope Cabot confesses to him and he turns her down and then Fairchild has to deal with being the rebound forever.” You sip water from your canteen.“That's cold, Amos. That's void-cold.” Garret whispers.“Huh, weird electrical discharge.” You frown down at your scanner, “Is there a storm coming? It looked like a lightning strike.”“No, not from what I can see. Meteorological readings mention light rain and low cloud cover and, of course, fog...but no thunderstorms.”The smoking, charred head of a Morgan II comes flying out of the fog.[Continued]

This delay brought to you by captcha and also the difficulties of finding a specific mech in a huge folder of them. Sorry for the troubles with tonight, guys.
>>1151120Its okay Wong, its not your fault.Well... Maybe the finding the mech part is, but I know how this can be difficult when DMing
“Is that him?” You read another lightning strike in the opposite direction, “Alright, that's definitely some sort of long-ranged weapon. Horizontal lightning isn't a natural phenomenon, no matter how high up in the hills we are or how low the cloud cover is.”“Well, technically...” Simon starts, then dodges as a beam of blue lightning flashes by him.“Technically nothing. Let's go wreck this thing.” Garret growls. “Chop chop.” “Literally.” You agree. The three of you head off in the direction of the light, and up ahead, you see a strange-looking mech hovering a few meters above the ground. Electricity crackles around it in a sphere, and jolts between its feet and the stones as it lifts one arm to point at you. It looks...old. Not the parts themselves, but the design. Odd proportions. Its shoulders are large, and its forearms, displaying some sort of whirring turbine in each. Its head is tall, cylindrical, reminiscent of a stovepipe. It's the color of cloudy steel, save for its piercing, blue eyes. Somehow, it isn't quite what you expected.“Uh, that's it, right?” You question, wishing you'd had a better look at the Gerin. “Does it matter?” Garret asks, “It's hostile, we take it out.”
Game resumes tomorrow at the usual time with the technical problems hopefully fixed, because I won't be using a relative's notoriously spotty internet.

>>1151155I think that this is a Armored heavy frame with Super Heavy arms, and judging by their size I would bet in Medium Heavy legs and head, but Wong rarely does it and it wouldn't make much sense for a Paladin(as they don't care about things like CP and weight limits)...The Armor is probably Super Heavy too.... If it has armor, because he can be a super narcisist that trusts absolutely on his shield.I also bet on it having MA12, and a Beam gun fluffed as a Lightning cannon. Also, shield surge.
>>1151126Open comms."GodDAMN your mech is ugly. Holy shit."
>>1151185Well, a surge shield is dangerous if we were using standard melee weapons. I think EMW are safe. Just.. don't get grappled by it. Think that lightning is 8 kills too.
>>1151200Getting a good look at it, the thing may very well be a hand to hand fighter. Physical fists amped up by a surge shield to increase it's power. Would be a painful melee combo, even if the shield is just 8-9 SP. Garret with a missile and us with our own could temporarily shut it down, but we don't know it's cool down.
>>1151250Don't forget the +2 grip, but I doubt that it is just 8SP... Wasn't something there about it being ablative? And the cool down is probably the minimum possible... If I remember the house rules well, it means that it continues down for the rest of the turn plus the next one.Belegor is probably even more powerfull though, so this one probably isn't full focused on hand to hand... Its sounding too simple for a Paladin though, I think that he has something up his sleeve that he will surprise us with, we should be careful.
>>1151250Probably he has Shock hands too.Yep, this one would be a good fight for the Kaiser.
>>1151312>>1151347Well there really aren't that many weapons that are more than 8 kills. Even the Kaiser's fists are only 8. As for the ablative, it was an assumption, but if it's a shock shield, making it ablative is a bad idea.Think the lightning is 10 kills instead of 8 too, if it can send a morgan two head flying.
>>1151126Well if that doesn't sound like my electric asshole machine I dont know what does. Even looks sort of how I imagined it.
Wong said this was going to be a multi stage fight right? How much you want to bet this thing is just a Chevalier and not the Gerin?
>>1151613Pretty sure someone designed this thing a few threads ago.
>>1151669I doubt that version would be nasty enough to be a full paladin.
>>1151406>>1151613Chevalier, huh?Lets not spend missiles with it then, or at least lets not spend more than 2 or 3 Amos's missiles, and none Heavy Missile.Hey, Eletric anon, please send me the pastebin.
>>1151882http://pastebin.com/PYBz8aJ2I suspect Wong might have changed the shield though. I made it with the Knuckle Kaiser in mind and I dont think a matter only shield would do much here. You can get one that blocks everything at 8SP to still fit the energy pool though pretty sure.
>>1151897Also like the name Eclair assuming this is a fake out and its not the actual Gerin.Hey am I the only one who thinks ford sounds a bit like foudre? Might just be because I suck at french.
>>1151918I was honestly thinking the truck manufacturer. Either way, that is a nasty combo there.Heavy missiles or our EMW will cut through it though. Just need to get past that attack factor.
>>1151942Also shock damage is reduced by alpha, beta and gamma armor which is a pretty important detail I wish I knew about when I was making it.
>>1151958So with our shield, that punch is nothing. 8 from gamma, 4 from beta. Probably A class as well. Either way, if the Squillia can land a punch to the torso, it's done.
>>1151974Beta armor gets half SP and Gama gets full so yeah 8 and 3.5 rounded up to 4. Now that said thats assuming Wong didnt add anything new to it and that its not actually the Gerin.
Hey gents, I forgot where the rules for how much your mech can lift are. Can someone tell me the page number?
>>1152030page 117 in the ATM (or 118, page says 117 but the program says 118)
Oh hey, did we ever figure out what happened to The little sister of Dame Wayland? Because I keep expecting her to show up.
Where are the rules for Mech size? Heightwise, that is.
>>1152116IIRC its in cloaking? I think it's 1.5 times the kill value in the servo.
>>1152129The torso servo. That's for humanoid mecha though. There is no rule for nonhumaniod.
>>1152136I assumed it would be the same length, just in whatever orientation. 33 meters long on a tank instead of 33 meters tall on a humanoid.
>>1152129Cloaking mentions height values but I'm not seeing it anywhere on the pages in the ATM.
>>1152162You'll need to ask Brazil then. He's the one that told me it was 1.5 times kills.
>>1152165In meters, right?
>>1152167Yeah, that's what he said. That does make a mega heavy torso servo ~108 feet long/tall though.
>>1152171They are mega heavy for a reason I guess.
>>1152170>>1152171Thanks gents.Hmm, using scaling rules would make me a Mediumweight class human.
>>1152180It does make my Mega Heavy Tank almost twice as long as Heavy Striker mechs are tall though, which is pretty comical.
>>1152183Or a Striker class Roadstriker.Any humanoid Roadstriker that's smaller than Striker class would only be able to be piloted by dwarves.
>>1152189Guess thats why roadstriker cockpits are dependent on the body stat.
>>1152193Yep.Admittedly, the Exosuit I designed had enough space to hold a Body 10 human without issue. So, I guess it was more akin to Fallout 4 power armor.
>>1152186You essentially made a bolo?
>>1152205Nah, it only has one gun. Its just a really, really big tank.I did make this one though. It's a lot like a bolo, except its crewed by people. I forgot to figure out how much each storage module would fit though. I may go back and redo that.http://pastebin.com/y7yEfrM6
>>1152222Each storage module holds half a ton.
>>1152228I meant in Corvette scale.
>>1152230Oh. 5 tons each then right?
>>1152243It would need a lot more storage modules to match the pictures then. I'll fix it eventually.
>>1152246It also says that each storage module can hold 1 roadstriker and 10 can hold a regular mech.
If a Superlight Mech is only 3 Meters tall, how the hell do they fit a cockpit in the torso? Thing must be super cramped. And a Superlight Roadstriker is basically just a skateboard or a bike.>>1152183>>1152189Make that a Light Heavy Mech and a Medium Striker Roadstriker. 1.8 Meters is a good 15 cm shorter than my actual height.
>>1152312I think that a Superlight would look more like some sort of super power armor if you go by the 1.5 rule. But you can always houserule it.Talking about this, if you guys could choose the height of your mecha loosely based on the 1.5 rule, what would you choose? Please take in consideration that the proportions suggested by armor too, as a "normal looking" humanoid mech in this universe usually have an armor one level higher than their servos, what would make mechs with lesser armor look more slender than normal.I imagine the Walkure with 16m and a slim outlook as it was somewhat based on the Villkiss, but it would probably also look a little more fragile than others heavy strikers because of it.
>>1152652Noted.Admittedly, choosing from a range between 1.25 and 1.75 might allow a greater degree of customizability. As for Tourney mech heights, the Myrmidon follows the 1.5 rule exactly, making it 12 meters tall.
>>1152652wait... so the M-Sagiser is a mix of medium and armored Heavy... that'd make it how tall?as for what superlight would look like... I imagine those things from infinite stratos (i think that was the name) combined with an armored space suit.
>>1152699ok... so 24 Meters tall since the 1.5 rule is for the torso only right?
>>1152725Sounds about right. Its basically a mobile armor.
>>1152652At first I said something like a turreted Shadowsword, but since Baneblade variants are only 13.5 meters long, I guess something more akin to a flying, tank shaped boat.>>1152687I think that's what they intended, for people to choose their own scales. That just doesn't work well without a reference point.
>>1152743It was still incredibly dumb for them to tie cloaking to height instead of weight.
>>1152743Something like this?
>>1152756I mean... how much something weighs doesn't determine how easy it is to see.
>>1152757I imagined it would look more like a floating modern tank than any futuristic stuff like that. I'm sure I'll find a picture that fits eventually.
>>1152758But there are rules for weight, not for height.
>>1152763It doesnt have treads or anything right?
>>1152767Yeah, but stuff like "you were spotted 1000 meters out but your partner wasn't because your mech weighed 20 more tons" wouldn't make for an enjoyable gaming experience.>>1152768Nope. The first one did, but I realized they're kinda bad in the Wong-verse since everything's in space.
>>1152774Poor Aquatic mechs also get no love.
>>1152774But running cloaking checks on height and then not having consistent rules for height is just asking for abuse.
>>1152785yeah for a while I was trying to figure out if I could use a hydro cannon to fill hexes of space with water just to make a gimmicky space aqua mech...sadly water does not stick around in space... it boils and freezes at the same time and ends up as a cloud of ice crystals... might make for a thematic smoke screen I guess...
>>1152788Like I said, they intended for people to determine their own height scales (either a multiplier like they did, or I'd imagine something like saying X class is Y to Z meters tall.) A GM could just no-sell something that's abusive, or realized something's OP and fiddle it into not being so. The GM was supposed to self moderate the rules for height and cloaking he set.
>>1152652Going by that. The Libra is 15 meters tall. Considering the Brasta is 18.2 meters it's a bit shorter than the source mech.
>>1152839So... its a Medium striker with Heavy striker size? What is the pic again?
So, is a Mediumweight Mech supposed to be the "Average" mech? Cause it's pretty fucking big.
>>1152839Well the Zaku II is suppose to be 18.2 and the Dutchman is about 12 meters tall. Then again, it's suppose to be 73.7 tonnes and the Dutchman is certainly lighter than that.
>>115285718 meters is about the height for most mechs in Gundam, the Zaku II was 17.something meters tall and both the original GM and Gundam were 18 meters tall exactly.
>>1152870The Zaku II also weighed about 74 tons.
>>1152877Nothing about Mekton is a perfect 1:1 representation of everything. I was just pointing out it was the typical height of mechs from Gundam.
>>1152894I was just pointing out how fat the zaku was.
>>1152855Don't have one on my phone. Just search brasta srw and you'll find it.

>>1152922>>1152926Thanks. Like I said, I ain't got the book right now so I couldn't just check how many kills Armored Heavy was.
Hmm, an alternative way of determining height would be to add torso and legs kills together. It would make sense for tanks and other non-humanoids to be shorter, after all.>>1152914>The HeroI'm not going to say anything.Isn't the base cost of your mech 121 CP? That's only 19 CP for Weapons and Options.
>>1152969But what if its something like the Bigro that only has 3 servos but is still huge?
>>1152969Oh no. I'm not talking about one for the tourney, I'm not in that. I'm talking about a separate game I'm in based on this. The Hero X is a fucking behemoth, two arms, two legs, two wings, torso, head, all Armored Heavy with likewise armor (Beta, of course), with a hyper sword that zips around at like 25 MA, and a -1 MV. That stupid fucking sword is like, a quarter of its point cost on its own. But it's sooo worth it.

>>1152988Ah, I see.>>1152980The Bigro isn't humanoid. It's also probably corvette sized.
>>1153039Actually, it's 45 meters wide. You could make it if you continued the servo size pattern to 30 C/S/K.
>>1153039Its about as humanoid as the big zam. Just got arms instead of legs.
>>1153016Have you finished up with the M-Sagiser?
>>1153078M-sagister is fats to review, but has Wong finnaly said something about the bird form? Did anyone tell him about de MA bonus and everything? Ah whatever, send me the last version,.
>>1153109I asked him about using avian and he Ok'd it but I decided to change the sagiser so it had wings of a sort, that way even if I don't get the avian form or wing bonus all the time I can still fly.http://pastebin.com/sR0KhwEu
>>1153156err...I mean since its avian form and has wings via metaform limbs it can definitely fly now unlike the mecha beast form, so I don't really care if I don't get the avian form MA bonus, just being able to fly is enough and I have enough MA to fly with wings deployed or not.
>>1153049That's what scaling is for. Corvettes are literally just the continuation of the normal scale. The Bigro, by its size in the show, would be a Striker class Corvette.>>1153074The Tarrasque doesn't have 1-to-1 equivalence with the Big Zam.
>>1153169>The Tarrasque doesn't have 1-to-1 equivalence with the Big Zam.Its literally the big zam. The only thing its missing is toe missiles.
>>1153169Wouldn't a corvette scale Striker have 60 Kills in the torso? With the 1.5 height multiplier that's way too big to be the Bigro.
>>1153176It's also far smaller than the Big Zam. The big Zam is 60 Meters tall. The Tarrasque is 33.>>1153189Huh, I could have sworn is was x5. It's a Lightweight Corvette then. Trade in one of the kills for extra space and it'll have 30 Torso Kills when it scales up.
Lightning fills the air. The storm mech stares you down. It has, like the Pumpkinseed II, a cross-shaped eyeslit that flashes with pale blue light. It steps back into a stance, and points at you. You're expecting speech, but at that moment an unfortunate Tulwar does a flyby. Its cannon speaks loudly, but the elecrosphere halts the munitions in midair and drops them harmlessly to the ground, then a bolt of lightning from the static cloud around the storm mech's forearm tears it apart in a fireball. The storm mech shrugs guiltlessly at you. It doesn't seem too bothered by the interruption. Is it challenging you to single combat, or trying to engage all three of you at once. You know what, though? No. Avalonians might like this whole game of duels and honor, but Ford's forces have burned cities and slaughtered civilians, even killed their own. You aren't playing this game.“Squad advance.” You order, “Take it out.” The three of you advance, sensor cores glowing in your head servos. The S-Squilla's harpoon hangs out of its mouth like a tongue. You tap the (deactivated) end of your beam lance against one palm while holding it in your other hand. The S-Pyxicephalus hisses steam from its vents. I looked and no where does it state that you need to account for reloads weight in either core or the ATM, and unless Wong comes from on high to deliver a divine message about it I'm hesitant to do it.Projectiles already have a ton of shit they need to leap through anyway.
Garret opens fire, and so do you, as Simon charges at it. You follow him after you squeeze off your shots. From behind, the storm mech's odds of dodging are remarkably attenuated...and indeed, it gets hit several times, but the plasma diffuses into the electrosphere. It doesn't even pause to gloat.“Hey, come back here!” Garret ignites thrusters and follows, catching up with Simon in short order, and your Delphinius overtaking them both easily. You think the storm mech might be making more motions than it has to, it seems to be magnetically levitating or something in lieu of more normal thruster setups, zipping over the ground at a fantastic pace. Meter by meter, Garret and Simon's slower mecha fall behind. Whatever this thing is, it's around the same speed as the Delphinius, fast enough to stay ahead of it pelting through the fog despite every sign that it's panicking and doing its best to get away. “Allo allo! This is Beauregard Squad and Marcel Squad, we'll help you out, sir!” With a cheer, a group of Pumpkinseeds join in, flying alongside you and shooting their rifles into the air.The storm mech's head swivels around, and you swear the blue glow of its sensor core widens as it spots the ongoing chase. It waves its arm back at you in a 'go away!' gesture and accidentally trips through a copse of trees, setting them ablaze with static jolts of electricity as it wriggles its way between their trunks. It turns and delicately knocks a few down with a kick, waggling its hands at the side of its head in a mocking gesture...until it sees your posse gaining altitude to just fly over, which causes it to jump and sprint away again, arms waving wildly.[Continued]
>>1153603People seriously think this? Why would ammo have weight stored inside a servo, then not have weight when mounted on the servo?Even beyond that, your logic is wrong. When you make ammo, you calculate their structural kills as well. If anything has a kill value, it has weight.
>>1153603Ammo reloads still weight even if they aren't inside of a servo, they aren't weightless, the ATM says that "the clips don't have weight themselfs but their weight is calculated by their shots."

EXTERNAL RELOADS DON'T HAVE WEIGHT AMMO HAVING WEIGHT IS DUMB TO BEGIN WITH IT'S A DUMB FIX TO A DUMB MISTAKE THE ATM MADE. IT MAKES NO SENSE ACCORDING TO PHYSICS OR REASON, BUT IT'S A TRADEOFF WITH INTERNALLY-MOUNTED RELOADS THAT HAVE WEIGHT APPARENTLY BUT DON'T TAKE AN ACTION TO SWITCH OUT THE MAGS.THIS IS WHY I'VE NEVER MADE A SINGLE MECH WITH A PROJECTILE GUN IN THE LONGEST TIME. >>1153698You're right, they should be running alongside and using their jumpjets to clear the trees.

>>1153735Where is this reloading rule? what I got from the ATM was only that the advantage of external reloads were the fact that they don't take up spaces, while internal ammo got armor protection in case of someone aiming for them.

>>1153777Like seriously, fuck. The more I think the stupider it is. What were they thinking?Internally mounted projectile weapon ammo now takes up space AND has weight, while handheld weapons don't have to worry about either, and the only tradeoff they get is not having to spend an action to use a different ammo. Whoop de do, too bad you have about 1/3rd of the ammo and spent the same amount of CP fitting it in the mech and doing weight efficiency. They don't even have the advantage of having armor protection while handheld weapons don't on a crit. The Corebook specifically says on the Special Hit table the hit weapon gets armor protection.I mean, seriously, you'd be at a -4 to hit a weapon when you call it. How did they not know internally mounted weapons are complete garbage. This is getting to me way too much. I'm legitimately mad about this.>>1153793THAT'S EVEN LESS OF A PROBLEM, YOU'RE AT -5 IF YOU TRY TO AIM AT AMMO OR YOU HAVE TO GET ALL THE WAY TO THE CINEMATIC HIT CHART WHAT THE FUCKI'm getting wasted. >All this REEingI'm gonna go get pizza. Hopefully, you guys will have figured it out when I get back.
>>1153864does it have stuff crust?
"Ammunition always takes up Space unless it is a reload for a handheld weapon."Unless there is something in the errata, this means your gun, fully loaded, will have some spaces and weight from ammo. Reloads, however, have no spaces and no weight. Period.
>>1153875So you just don't calculate the kill value of reloads?Doesn't that mean you can't even hit handheld PW reloads?
You know what? It's time for Wong rules.Ammo adds Spaces to a gun as the ATM demands. This makes sense, the more ammo space your gun has (internal or external) the less you have to reload it, the tradeoff is the size of the gun.. Swapping out a mag takes an Action regardless of whether it's internal or external.Ammo has neither kills nor weight. If it takes damage it's destroyed. This is an absolute. No kills. No weight. Ever. Can anyone name a reason why it should not be so?
>>1153881How often has that happened in this game? Roarke has gotten the Ammo Explosion crit a few times, but that was just handled, going by the book, as "the limb storing it exploded".

>>1153904No. I suppose internally mounted PW will always be bad.>>1153911It's just that, under what the monkeys that made these rules ruled, now on top of all the other advantages handheld weapons had, they are now immune to their ammo being destroyed as well.Though, if they're not, doesn't that mean that since all their ammo is destroyed whenever it's hit, some guy with a pistol could destroy all the ammo of a mech with one shot?

>>1153945>clip-fed beam gunsThey deserve it for sacrificing infinite ammo for mechanical gain. The idea that you'd be steadily losing weight in a fight annoys me anyway. DENIED! The trade-off between beam guns and projectiles in general is that projectiles have to buy ammo, but can buy more versatile, special ammo. Clip-fed beam guns don't compare directly to projectile guns, because being clip-fed at all is a weakness for a beam gun purchased for a discount on points.>ammo with no weight doesn't make much senseYou know what else doesn't make much sense? Rolled 6, 3, 4, 3, 6, 2 = 24 (6d10)A group of Scimitars descend through the fog. THEY have no trouble catching up and peppering the storm mech with their guns, but it puts its arms over its head and hunkers down as it runs, and their shots bounce off its shield. They might be fast, but they can't grapple it and would just get trampled if they got in the way. Some get too close, and without seeming to mean to, the storm mech shoots them down, little blades of lightning crackling inside the electrosphere and chopping the wing off one and the head off another Scimitar. You see the pilots eject safely. Seemingly a bit worried about more Scimitars, the storm make burns a bit of its lead to pause and swivel its head back and forth, looking around. Choosing a path, it darts away into the dense forest on the other side of the hill, extending its upper body nearly horizontal and thrusting its arms out behind itself as though thinking that will make it go faster. The remaining Scims pull away, and the Pumpkinseeds are starting to fall behind. Garret and Simon are barely staying in the race, they're hundreds of meters behind you now, and you're no longer bothering to try hosing it down with beam cannon fire. The woods are dense, massive redwoods towering over four hundred feet in height. In some parts of Qu'lir, your mech loom above the trees like towers. Here, it's like being a kid playing in the woods again. “Oh come on, that's NOT any faster! What the hell are they thinking!?” Garret demands to know as the storm mech's horizontal posture carries it directly beneath a tree that's fallen over at an angle. There's no longer any path, you're just zigzagging through and around the massive trees, and the Pumpkinseeds have long since fallen behind, although you hear them calling encouragement on your comms.>[Reflexes+Mecha Pilot rolls, 1d10+14]

The only way you can keep up on her is full speed, and thankfully, you're JUST good enough not to go facefirst into a tree despite the fog. Your mecha zip and loop through the foliage, the electric blue glow of the storm mech's thrusters ahead your only guiding light. The trees loom in the mist like the pillars of some ancient, eldritch temple, and you skirt between them with grace that would have made Irina swoon to see you using her design so well.Unfortunately, not quite well enough. At a certain point, you realize that you've lost visuals on Garret and Simon, “Guys?” You call out.“I'm fine!” Simon says, “Garret hit a tree. I'm just getting him back on his feet, you're a few klicks ahead.”“We're not away from the damned battle, that's for sure.” You grunt after checking the general comms for a moment. You sigh, and take a breath. There's nowhere for the enemy mech to hide. There's a tree stump up ahead, and although it clearly thinks it's hidden you can see the top of the storm mech's stovepipe head sticking up from where it's huddled on the other side, sitting with its knees drawn up against its chest, its mechanical hands over where ears would be on a human.>[Be Cruel]>[Be Kind]

You honestly feel a little bad. No wonder the pilot is frightened, and this definitely isn't normal military behavior. You don't approach, though, that's a good way to get caught in a trap. Instead, you open comms, “I can still see you, you know. Eject your cockpit and surrender, it doesn't have to go this way.”“O-o-oh gods it's y-you.” You know that voice from somewhere, “Girls? It's that evil witch's bodyguard, the one who threw my aunt and I out of our own hotel!” She sounds terrified, the storm mech backscooting away from you on its butt, crabwalking on its hands and feet.A mental image appears in your mind, of a dark-haired Qu'liri girl with fine, pale skin and large, expressive eyes the color of pine needles. You remember her sneaking off to a rebel meeting, but you haven't seen her since, “How did you...?” More importantly, though, you activate your beam lance. You just heard thunder rumble overhead.“I...I told you I was educated on Europa! Nobody even thinks twice about that, j-just because I'm a Qu'liri!” The storm mech's fists clench, lightning gathering around them, “I was at the Academy! I was on the shortlist for SOUL pilots, but...but...” The storm mech's shoulders shake, “I-I was told privately, by the person who gave Count Ford these mecha, that he'd looked into my case. I wasn't kicked out because the school's headmaster REALLY believed I was in...in an adult video, that was just the excuse, it was all so there was a spot open for the Chairman's son to join SOUL! I'm a good pilot! I could have been an ace, but no, you Jovians wouldn't let me! Then when I tried to come home and live quietly with my aunt, you took our home away too! Then...then I made a bunch of friends in the Qu'liri Liberation Front, but you spoiled that too! You destroyed our hideout, foiled our plans, and I...I had to run away, I don't think my aunt even knows I'm still alive. Boss Palmyra's pride never recovered, that's why...that's probably why she...” You hear a sob and the mech covers its face with its hands, “S-s-so when she went crazy and things got...things got bad a-at the Dam, I ran away with Pamela and Lacelle, we were the surviving mecha forces of the QLF. We met two girls who'd been in Dame Wayland's squad living in the wilderness trying to find a way offworld, and came south to join Ford, but then...but then I had to run into you here!” She picks up a rock and throws it at you, your shield automatically moving to intercept, “I hate you! I hate you! I wish you were never born!”[Continued]

“How am I the bad guy and not Ford? I'm just protecting my people too!” You protest, “Don't you know what he's done!?”She sobs again, nodding, “I h-h-hate him. He's a monster, he's even worse than you or that blonde witch with the evil eyes, but...but if we don't fight, he'll set off the remote detonators he put in our mechs' powerplants. That's why I can't just eject and run away, if this hatch opens the bombs go off automatically.”“Tanya, that's enough, that savage won't understand. Ford is out of control, and without another Paladin to bring him back in line, we're the only ones who can stop him, and we can't do that until this battle is over. The Green Man Duchess Maria spoke of will surely bring him to heel, it shares the inhuman wisdom of the Lady.” You hear another familiar voice, it's the first Knight you beheaded on Qu'lir, one of two Elizabeth Wayland traded her freedom to save.“It's him or us.” Another voice interjects, unfamiliar but with a strong Avalonian accent, “I don't like these Teslas, I'd rather have something with a real gun, so that I can smash that jumped up traitor when-”As two more of the storm mechs land, the first one backhands the one speaking, “Hush! What if Count Ford can hear us!? He might just decide to set all the bombs off on a whim.”[Continued]

>>1154553First hit goes to the head to take out the primary sensors. This gives a -2 to all combat actions. Then take the hit to make a called shot at the backup sensors. This drops them to -4 and makes a called shot to shut off the power core feasible, since their offense is reduced to basically nothing.
>>1154553Could always auto flub their rolls. We did take out their cockpits the first time we were at the dam. Either way, I think we might have stumbled upon a good end for them just because we've been a generally good person.

So Assume its now Fragile, what makes it weight 0.5ton.Also, your range is 550m, not 500m.You missiles are OK too, but could be could be more effective if you care about this.... I mean, most mechs here have at least medium striker armor, and 6K missiles would just cause 2K of damage per hit.3x10K missiles with WA+2 and 1Space would cost the same thing, and thats not mentiioning the new possibilities opened by your new 0.5 less weight.
You snort with bitter laughter, “Inhuman wisdom? Wow, that's a CUTE mech! Isn't it, Pamela? Hee, ours look pretty good together, don't they?” Her Tesla poses seductively, one hand on its hip, the other behind its head, the eyeslit lighting up more on one side as if winking.“We should've kidnapped him and the pretty boy with the purple hair and done that plan to seduce them, with the baths and the rescuing them from being gay and everything, Lacelle.” A fifth Tesla lands nearby, the five forming a rough pentacle around you, “It's like a big blue Punkinseed.” She pronounces it punkin, yes, “Also, don't be a bitch Sabrina.” She points at the Avalonian who complained about the Tesla, “These are great! Belt-made, pirate construction, NO respect for IP, no shortcuts for the sake of profit margins, infinite-ammo guns...”“Yes yes~!” Lacelle agrees, “You and Emily...” Presumably Emily is Elizabeth Wayland's younger sister, “Just don't get it 'cause you're Avalonian nobles who see Paladins n'stuff all the time, but these are great.”“Except if we leave, we die.” Emily Wayland points out flatly. “We won't die even if we're killed.” Pamela promises, “Lacelle doesn't want to admit it, but Little Boy Blue there's the next snackeroo on our menu.”“Nyaaa! Don't mischaracterize me! We agreed, we're doing this together!” Lacelle's Tesla stomps its foot. You frantically mutter into the comms while they're distracted, “Guys please hurry, I'm about to get violated.”You weren't quiet enough. Lacelle and Pamela's Teslas both nod smugly, “Yeah, you are.” Pamela says, with the sound of someone licking their lips.“Poor little Jovian boy.” Lacelle agrees. They both snicker, “And his poor little friends. Hey, hey Tanya, can their artillery mech get through your shields?”Tanya, the dark-haired SOUL candidate, shakes her mech's head.Lacelle and Pamela's Teslas high-five triumphantly. Emily's and Sabrina's simultaneously facepalm.“Can I just kill them?” Sabrina asks, plaintively.[Continued]

It's only pure, sheer luck that you see it. This clearing isn't exactly grassy, but there's a lot of weeds and heather and other assorted greenery...and you notice, abruptly, two flattened-down patches behind Lacelle's mech. Lacelle's mech landed where it's standing, so those can't be its footprints. As you watch, they become mildly deeper, pebbles shifting into the depressions as invisible feet move around. You check your ASP. There's a suspicious amount of nothing there. You whistle and get out your PC, bringing up the contact information for a certain person and making some inquiries. You've seen the S-Betta's schematics, and unlike most SOUL mecha it's gone the extra step and has a Target Analyzer installed, something you desperately want despite space being at such a premium in your hyper-efficient, hyper-modern, hyper-lethal mech. You ask Blanchett to please not start tranquilizing the Teslas, and to instead send you their schematics, communicating with her via text about the location and trigger systems of the bombs. This is going to be EXTREMELY tricky...but as you overlay the schematics onto the mecha on your screen, you do see a way.“Nobody is getting killed here today.” You say firmly. “None of you. This isn't your fault, but I should warn you, the Green Man on Qu'lir has rotted for decades. Your own sister said he's nothing like the lady, when she wasn't getting hysterical over what she saw it do."“Elizabeth, hysterical? Liar, you really expect us to believe that!?” Wayland's Tesla draws a beam saber and points it at you.“How dare you insult the Green Men!?” Sabrina's arm-mounted generators whir into full power, “The Lady MAY have eternally shamed the Rothschild family by putting the bastard Eustace at its head, but even a distaff poor cousin like me will be DAMNED to hear you speak ill of-”“Shut up. Both of you, shut up.” It's little Tanya, surprisingly, and her voice is like steel as she levers herself to her feet, “I don't know what that thing Palmyra dug up was, I don't want to know, but we saw what it did. If that's really what the Lady is like, I'd rather be bullied by the Jovians.”“We lost friends.” Lacelle points out mournfully. You send two more messages.“Yeah. I didn't want to say anything, but Lacy and I kinda thought we could self-destruct on it when Ford dug it up.” Pamela admits, then hisses as she realizes what she just said. For several moments, nobody moves, but the bomb doesn't go off. Ford must not be listening. You hear all five sigh with relief.“That's fine. I'm going to do some surgery on those bombs.” You tell them.“What!? No!” Tanya shrieks, “We'll die!”“You'll die if you stay in there.” You tell her, “This is the only way.”Emily growls, “This is preposterous, you are NOT going to beat us and our lives, alas, are probably doomed.”“Not today.” Garret says, as a missile streaks through the air.[Feed me 1d10s]
