"W-well you see, they were using a different decryption, which is why it took so long..." Naru says apologetically. "And there's the Titan wreckage we recovered...""I understand, Naru, I really do." Tarin sighs and catches sight of you entering. "Nice to see you join us, Holly."Huh, she wasn't calling you Rookie anymore. You guess you impressed her enough to accept you as part of her squad?"All right, play it." Tarin grunts. You watch as Naru fumbles with her datapad, trying to activate the recorder. You see the Spyglass unit walk over, almost exasperated, as it touches the proper key and the recorder hums to life."T-thank you, Amadeus." Naru sighs. "It's what you built me for." The Spyglass says in response. That's when you start hearing a buzz of static as the recorder starts replaying bridge transmissions. "-Engineering secured, and the Spectres are locked down-""-Get us away from the Fleet! Link up with the others until we reach the jump point!""-won't follow an Admiral who fires on her own ships-""-incoming!"And then a final buzz as the transmissions cease."That's not a lot to go on." Tarin frowns. "S-sorry, the recorder seems to have been slightly corrupted from the battle damage!" Naru squeaks, as if it were somehow her fault. "B-but it looks like the sensor data was intact..."A screen winks on, showing sensor readings taken by the derelict ship before its last moments. You watched as one massive blob of blips, undoubtedly a full IMC battlefleet, loitering around the ruins of Demeter. However, you could see a large chunk of the blob, about a quarter to a third of the total fleet, break off. The sensors began tracking weapons fire between the two groups as the smaller fleet made the jump to FTL, leaving behind a few stragglers that were mopped up by the larger fleet before the data cut out. "Was that...?" Ramirez frowns."A mutiny, it looks like." Tarin puts a hand to her chin. "I need to report this back to Harmony. Ramirez, make sure the Titans are prepped.""Roger that." Ramirez salutes. "And Naru, keep working on that IMC tech." "Y-yes ma'am!" Naru gulps. >Accompany Tarin to the debriefing.>Get a practice round in with Ramirez.>Help out Naru with the lab work.>Other

"Naru was only meant to keep the Titans here maintained, and the inspection of new IMC equipment was not one of her original duties, hence the... lower than ideal number of staff.""B-but-""Don't worry, I know my way around mechanical stuff!" You try to assure Naru. "I used to be a Titan mechanic before I signed up, so I've got a knack fixing them up!""A useful skill." Amadeus nods, his monoptic glowing a bright blue. Both you and Naru continue on in relative silence, unless it was to ask each other a question about a part you found that you weren't sure was intact or not. You manage to finish up with the Ion and were partway through the Ronin when Amadeus returns. "Private Foulke, your presence is required in the briefing room." The Spyglass robot says politely. "Ah, okay." You nod as you get up, pulling off your work gloves. "See ya, Naru, and if you need help with anything else, just let me know, okay?""O-okay!" Naru nods."SOMETHING TELLS ME WE'RE SEEING ACTION AGAIN SOON." BLL rumbles."Well, not like we're getting paid to just sit around." You shrug as you walk past him."YOU GET PAID, I DON'T. IT'S PATENTLY UNFAIR.""I'll lodge a complaint with Command." You snort as you make your way out of the hangar bay. That BLL was a real odd one.You finally make your way briefing room, where again you see Tarin and Ramirez. Tarin was standing at attention, while Ramirez was casually lounging back on a chair, his feet resting on the conference table. And on the screen was Sarah Briggs herself, the commander of the Marauder Corps and the SRS."Ma'am!" You snap to attention and salute. "At ease, Holly." Sarah laughs. "And you too, Tarin. You don't have to be so stiff when I'm around."Tarin nods and eases up her posture a bit, but not by much. "So uh, what is this about?" You ask as you sit down in one of the seats. "It's about that data you pulled from that flight recorder." Sarah's expression darkens. "I had my own techs analyze it, along with long range IMC transmissions we've been intercepting. Looks like your guess was right, Tarin. An IMC reinforcement fleet arrived at Demeter.""What?!" You blink in surprise. "But I thought the point of blowing up Demeter was to cut off their reinforcements!""Normally, yes." Sarah nods. "An FTL jump from the Core Worlds to here would practically use up all their fuel, but it looks like these ships were designed to carry a bit more in reserve.""But it still can't be enough for a round trip." Tarin adds. "They don't have any way of getting back.""Which is probably why part of their fleet mutinied." Sarah grins. "I guess those corporate bigwigs didn't tell their grunts the full story. But this presents us with a bit of problem.""Go on." Tarin sighs. "We're used to problems."(cont)
>>1130358"Right now, we have two missions." Sarah continues. "Try to make contact with the mutineers and try to convince them to join our side, and to prevent the IMC reinforcements from linking up with the Remnant.""We can't just do both?" You frown."It's not as easy as it sounds." Sarah shakes her head. "We took heavy losses on Typhon, and the Remnant have been stepping up their raids, tying up our reserves. Command is focusing all available strength on intercepting the reinforcements, so there's nothing to spare to make contact with the mutineers, unless...""I'm not liking where you're going with this." Tarin frowns."Look, your team is already on site. You're in the best position to track those guys down." Sarah sighs. "But that means you'll have to go it alone. I can't spare any more ships or men to assist you, and I won't order you to go."Tarin then looks at you and Ramirez."Well? What do you say?""Either one is good with me." Good luck intercepting those reinforcements.""I should be saying good luck to you." Sarah chuckles. "Stay safe.""We will." Tarin nods. And with that, the screen winks out."So how bad is it?" You ask."Well, we're the only three Pilots on board." Tarin explains. "But we do have a full company of regular troops and a few platoons of Spectres in case things get really hairy, but hopefully it won't come to that.""Do we even know where they are?" You continue."The flight recorder managed to pick up their last known exit vector." Ramirez grins. "And we've got the whole sector mapped out. Turns out, there's an abandoned IMC supply depot on Murata that could serve as a convenient base.""I'll let the Captain know our course." Tarin makes her way for the door.
