My name is Mary.

I now own a dungeon.

Not by choice, mind you. I was forced into this when the previous owner placed a curse on me after I tried to audit him. Now I'm the ruler of this place until my asshole of a boss decides to send someone to free me from the curse.

So, anywhere between a month and forever.

But I'm trying to make the most of it while I'm here.

And it seems like these heroes never stop coming...

The princesses look so lovely! And prince is rather fetching too!

Also Mary, I had way to much time on my hands cataloging items and creating new ones....

==================================================

We went on a bit of a spending splurge but.. I think it was worth it. A few changes have been made to the dungeon and we got new princesses.
>>
>>1124794
The dungeon is getting pretty dungeon-y. I like it.
>>
>>1124794
The token tracker is a very very useful thing. I am really glad we have that now!

>>

>>

If you're refering to Alex, that's a good point. Guess she didn't get the papers filed for her new job yet.

>>1124814
I fear for these heroes after the Moon Elf fiasco.
>>

FINALLY
>>
So right now what rooms do we have and how our resort/dungeon works?
>>
>>1124774
HUZZAH! IT RETURNS!

>>1124815
I wouldn't say "Moon Elf" was a complete fiasco (we did get a 5 star review), but we certainly made the dungeon harder than it needed to be, which may also attract more high leveled characters to attempt it in the future.

Didn't we decide to have a difficulty setting or something? Perhaps have the option of making the dungeon easier but to decrease the rarity of certain drops? We want this rare-item farmer to feel like he has some agency even as he has to do the dungeon over and over again before getting the slime core.

=============================================

"Remember..." Says the man in the mask, "I need the Slime Core. If you roll Need on it our contract is null and you will receive nothing from me."

"You're paying me more than it's market value anyway. I'm not into minion collecting. It's yours." The adventurer says. One hand is holding onto what looks like four katana.

"Good... The last thing I need is coming so close to my goal and having a typical stupid adventurer mess it up for me."

>>
>>1124837
OH are we finally getting a villainous fighter.

>>
>>1124837
Well the good news about these guys is they'll run the dungeon as many times as it takes to get that rare drop. Bad news is they may be hard to kill to make a profit on. We'll have to see how things go.
>>
>>1124834
I say it was a fiasco because people couldn't let Moon Elf do her thing. They wanted to murderhobo an adventurer as opposed to letting her do it herself.

We're in the industry to entertain, not just get gold cheaply.

>>1124837
>>1124845

>Ronin looks around, her posture showing that she is a woman of action, always on the alert. Chemist follows behind her, arms beneath his cloak, gripping something that Mary can't see.

"It's pretty."

"Better than the outside." Chemist says.

>Ms Bloops pops out and burbles a happy greeting at the pair.

"!!! Zantetsuken!" Ronin screams, slicing the slime's head off in one blow.

We win either way. We either get casual shits or hardcore fuckers who want to play Dark Souls and Dwarf Fortress.

>>
>>1124877

do slimes care about that?

>>
OK, hard mode it is.
>>
>>1124877
pretty sure that just did nothing. missed the core and doing a " slice in half then wait until clocking sword back in for them to fall apart" also fails due to slime just sticking back together after being cut. basically, giga sharp swords are even worse vs slimes then dull ones.
>>
>>1124877
oh god damn it....anon's aren't going to let this one go...AGAIN.
>>
>>1124883
Do you think that Ms. Bloops remembers every time that she's been killed? Do we have a dungeon therapist? We should hire a dungeon therapist.
>>
>>1124877
I'm mad but no hard mood yet, let them run into the cleric first
>>
>>1124867
Agreed. We want them to feel like they're having fun even as they run it again and again trying to get the rare item.

>>1124877
Maybe we put in difficulty settings with variable risk-reward?

Or perhaps we should make completionist rewards for people who do the dungeon a number of different ways?

>>1124877
"sigh" - I guess we can do hard mode and have killing Ms. Bloops be the trigger for that, but if we then get the dark souls "we want the hardest dungeon ever" types having killing her trigger high difficulty would encourage people killing her.

Personally, I'd really rather just let it go. Everyone's got their own style and we should try to cater to the customer.
>>

luckily no. lesser slimes have goldfish like memories. so every time she reforms it's just her base personality.

That was because during that run, Ms. Bloops wasn't set as a dungeon creature. So if she got ganked, she'd have died permanently.

>Mary tells Ms. Bloops to help them out a bit. She's not entirely certain if her directions are even understood but that doesn't stop the slime from grabbing the candy and devouring it.

>1 Candy Rune Obtained

>She makes some slime noises and leaves the fountain, heading off and out of the room, occasionally looking behind herself to make sure she's being followed. The pair pause to glance at each other before following the slime.

"Can we trust her?" Ronin asks

"It's the first room. If we fail here we can just try again."

>They enter the Comfy Slime room. Curi peers over the edge and waves at the comfy slimes. They wave back at her. She makes a few noises at them, apparently engrossed in a bit of conversation with them. The slimes pooled at the bottom nod and climb up the sides of the pit, binding together and forming a semi-solid bridge across. Curi just slides across.

... How many times has she done this?

>The pair are able to cross now with little difficulty.

>Now they enter the maze.

>Curi seems to know exactly where she's going, leading the pair with confidence. They follow her route, avoiding many of the dead ends and Explodey clones.
>When they do finally encounter one Curi makes some soothing slime noises and passes by it.

>Then, they see Metal Slime.

Wow, she is surprisingly good at holding multiple swords in her mouth.

Kinky
>>
>>1125395
Yeah how does she get her tongue past her clenched teeth and the other sword hilt?
>>
>>1125427
Clearly she took a feat at a previous level. Other swordmasters laughed at her, but then she out dueled them.
>>
>>1125346

Umm... Her fighting style seems like it would end painfully if she took a hit to the head. More to the point, you could easily shoot water directly down her throat through her open mouth.
>>
Maybe one of the swords has a tongue in the hilt for her sword? Maybe she's missing a bunch of her lower teeth on one side?
>>
>>1125427
as long as her tongue is thinner then a swords hilt she should be fine, as to why her tongue is so long and flexable you got me
>>
>>1125395
Clearly one of the swords is a talking sword that talks for Ronin. Very handy for Ronin when she needs to talk with 2 swords in her mouth, but the downside is the talking sword often goes off tangent, talks in a grating voice and swears like a sailor.
>>
>>1125358

>>
>>1125529
Ah yes, that would be a good idea. I'd also really like to work on the surrounding around our dungeon (since they're kind of crap right now).

One though I think I'll mention is that not everyone will want to do an epic long dungeon crawl. Maybe there's a way we can create dungeon tiers so that people who don't want to do the whole thing can still be satisfied with the experience?
>>
>>1125540
Absolutely not. Heals are one of the main sources of gold income we have. That source should only be banned if the heroes decide they want to fight the Cleric.
>>
>>1125543
Pretty simple solution really. Future runs, Curi, and requisite other bosses, drop what is essentially a 'go pass' that allows them to go to the next floor, if you keep beating floor bosses, you keep getting 'go passes' that allow you to progress to the next one.

Naturally, you can still fight the bosses if you wish, and you can take part in favourite puzzles for loot/more tokens.

>Royal Slime Paladin focuses on defense, erecting barriers of slime to block off most of the Ronin's attacks. Each attack cuts deep and shaves off chunks of the barriers she brings up.

>Her four sword wielding method allows her attack at unexpected angles. It seems that, after a while, Slime Paladin can ONLY defend. A moment of pause, any bit of attacking, and Ronin will slip past her defenses and cut her.

"Impressive..." Slime Paladin says.

>Chemist is trying to craft something. He works furiously to brew an acid that will eat the slimes away. An arrow hits him in the side, making him cry out in pain. Archer slimes, summoned by their royal prince, have appeared and are pelting the Chemist with arrows. They're not terribly strong since they were not in the room originally and the Prince's powers aren't fully developed, but, even so, they can do it.

"Ronin!" Chemist yells, "I am paying you to keep these things OFF of me!"

"One moment..." Ronin says, somehow.

>Her blades glow and crackle with energy.

"Limit Break: Sword of fury, inject power! Masamune!"

>Each hit from her blade weakens the shield. One, after another, after another. The shield breaks and falls into a lump of slime.

All the Slime Princes and Princesses will share the same buff title called "Take up the mantle of Royalty" to show their connection to the legacy of the royal slime family. But the concept is the same, a bodyguard/beloved has fallen in the battlefield (i.e. Lily previously lets RSK do the heavy lifting while Slime Squire/Prince needed Pally to show him the ropes), and their death serves as a catalyst for them to take their duties seriously as an heir to the throne.
Anon, the power-up buff is an inherent trait to the Royal Slime family.

I'm not saying that Slime Prince shouldn't get stronger when Slime Paladin dies, but it shouldn't be a straight power-up like Lily's is. Slime Prince has a different powerset and story from Lily, and his 2nd stage should reflect that.
Also, he needs an actual name. All the royal family should have names.
>>
>>1125730
well he can summon archers and his guardian is a paladin so either some kind of buff for summoned enemies or he get's to add multiple laws going at once to make the fighting really interesting.
>>
>>1125730
Gunter, or some similar slime based pun. I like Gustav, but he's the great mage of slime kingdom that we have yet to create at this time.
>>
>>1125638
Neat. Let it rock, see how it shakes out.
>>
>>1125696
Except Lily's upgrade happens when she dies and RSK sacrifices himself to save her.

But no, I don't think we should do a fusion with him except maybe for raid mode. Instead, I think his death should cause Slime Paladin to either give up or go berserk, and Slime Paladin's death should make him stop "goofing off" and fight for real. He is a 4-rune slime just like she is, after all, and royalty to boot. He should be stronger than her as he is.
>>
>>1125730
Slime Prince's 2nd Stage would be different. As stated above, he's not well suited to swordsmanship like Pally or Slime Knight. he's more suited to Commanding and leadership. I would say his 2nd stage be him suddenly getting battle armor, and have him summon a massive retinue/company/platoon of Slimes that form the Royal Slime army. And then his title goes from Prince - > Warlord/Imperator.

each crest by itself already gives a bonus to higher rare drop.
Make it an additional 1% (Dice roll translated into 1d100+[1 per crest])

But there has to be a risk to attempting that because from the slime's pov, you're basically threatening to destroy the entire kingdom and pillage everything.
And the more crest pieces/Royal Armor pieces you collect, the more difficult the quest will be. each royal family member fights harder because their kingdom is at stake!

>>
>>1125823
Slimon special ability if his protector goes down

IMposition of authority- he makes two new rules that impose harsher penalties with no bonuses attached. This can cripple an over specced team but since he's alone now not to bad.

Mirelle
All is ash - the floor becomes lava and everything burns, race against time to drop her before the heat drops you

Rosa
Overgrowth - vines and plants sprung up in mass making it harder to move and fight with each passing second, eventually choking out the slow and unwary

Sophia
Castle of Mud - the room starts falling apart, falling hazards occur, footing can be fouled and adventurers caught. Also ruins your clothes.

Lily of course has take up my mantle
>>
>>1125886
think at some point in the future we should turn Mary into a hidden boss since she is the dungeon master? Not to sure how other dungeons run but from what little we saw of the dick that trapped us here it seemed like the DM usually took a active roll in the dungeon.
>>
>>1125897
I think the idea would be to place them in duplicate slimes which don't have them normally.

Also that reminds me, does the shop have any bombs with an Explodey aesthetic to them? Cause that seems like it would be a decent fit.
>>
>>1125902
She'd have to be a puzzle boss. The trick being she has like 20 different defenses, but you've got to work your way through ALL of them.
>>
>>1125900
Those are some definitely interesting ideas to use when everyone gets their final form. It's not even a matter of protection, but if we assume all boss fights are like Curi's and they are in three stages, Implosion of Authority, All is Ash, Overgrowth, Castle of Mud all seem like viable 'final form' things, similar to Take up My Mantle, and whatever you want to call Curi's final deal would be, "Mothers' Wrath" perhaps?

I figured we could make her sort of a story boss, as in a boss you fight to get a better idea of this place's story.

What I was thinking that she'd be in the slime citadel's dungeon in a literal gilded cage as sort of a poke on how she's trapped her. Her fight would be somewhat like Curi's as in slime will spawn to try and stop the adventures but instead of Mary helping the slimes fight by jumping in with them she'd use her audit powers to debuff the party. The only way for the adventures to get to her would to be to solve puzzles that would let them reach her and if we can get our demonologist to find some kind of temporary fusion instead of a full fusion like she tried last thread we could actually turn Mary into a fairly intimidating boss.

So yeah, sorta a puzzle boss but that's just my two cents on it.
>>
>>1125931
Indeed. Hopefully they'll have so much fun in the dungeon they'll keep coming back for more than just the core. Or at least won't hate the grid too much. If you're grinding for rare items you need to expect a hard scenario.

Here's some ideas for some items in Slimecrown. I'm uncertain about the Royal Slime Armor sets though with their enraging effect on the bosses. Is it a bit overkill?

Slime Sleeves: Arm and Leg Sleeves that lets the user whip/stretch their limbs like a slime! The only downside is that the limbs that the sleeves are equipped become literally boneless and flop about like a ragdoll. Highly reccomend not attaching them to the legs unless you've completely mastered Slime-Fu. Also serves as training equipment for those who wish to practice the secret art of Slime-Fu.

Royal Slime Armor set: Comes in either the King's version or Queen's version. Obtain them by defeating a royal slime family member in their "True Monarch" form. WARNING: EQUIPPING ANY ARMOR PIECE OR AN ENTIRE SET WILL ENRAGE THE ROYAL FAMILY. THEY REMEMBER YOUR TRANSGRESSIONS AGAINST THE KINGDOM.

You know you add that to a monk, and they have a grand time. Even better have that monk equipped with the Handy Scarf and they become a titan!

>>1126021
This is going to be great.

>>1126030

Pretty sure it's like in RPG where monks still equip gloves, or something to boost their damage.

Let it slide and lets see this happen!
>>
>>1126040
you win some you lose some Alchemist. Then again, this IS what you paid Ronin to do right? To help you clear the dungeon so you can get the coveted mini slime core? You might as well sit back and relax. Ronin's got this in the bag. right? RIGHT?

Oh wow... alchemist/chemist really can't catch a break this fight. We kinda forgot about her. Because Ronin kinda stole the show here.
>>
>>1126059
And then every bard that ever existed cried out in sorrow...

>>1126068
Well, I think Alchemist may yet get chances to shine. Maybe she'll do something in this fight, or maybe in one of the other fight rooms. Alchemist does strike me as somewhat of a thinker. Puzzles and creative fights may come into play to let him or her do their thing.
>>
>>1126068
Then I wonder... what would make Alchemist like this dungeon? There clearly must be something that is suitable to her playstyle of tossing chemicals willy nilly.
She clearly isn't much of a fighter. She must be more support oriented if she has to concoct lots of potions or chemicals for offensive use.
>>
>>1126083
She only came in to steal the mini slime generator.
>>
>>1126083
I wonder if Alchemist has more buffing potions, to go with the poisons.

I think we maybe were a little overzealous here for Alchemist. We should give them opportunities to shine.

>>1126087
Be that as it may, they are a customer, we should try and at least acknowledge that they may want to also have fun along the way. Regardless of why they are here.
>>
>>1126083
That might be true, when we shut down "Status effects" that would have also shut down buffs. Although, now I suppose if she was a support/buff type character then they probably wouldn't count as "weapons" for the purpose of the "law" laid out right?
>>
>>1126088
well this is more or less the first room so we still have plenty of chances.
>>
Hey guys.

Heres a thought.

What if the reason the chemist wants the slime core is that he can mass produce it, but he needs a basis in order for his process to work?

Slime cores are ultra rare, and he could be wanting in on a piece of that pie.
>>
>>1126088
The Ronin is a customer.

The Chemist is an attempted cheater and thief.
>>
>>1126101
Wait, I missed something, how is she a cheater and thief? (Unless you mean the threatening) She got someone to run her through the dungeon, but that's it, aside from the parentheses.
>>
>>1126090
>>1126088
>>1126087
>>1126083

Alchemist is a guy.

>>
>>1126101
>thief
>wants items that we are willing giving out, even though its a rare drop LEGALLY
I mean, you use whatever words you want on this one.

>cheater
>using hired help to get items and run through dungeon
Isn't that just an MMORPG in a nutshell?

My point being, we have to try and not just be rigid. Flexibility is a good thing in the dungeon enterprise. Flexibility also refers to customer relations.
>>
>>1126100
then it would rapidity decrease in value unless he only produces it in limited amounts in which case really wouldn't effect us to much as it would still cost a crap ton and only the most prissy and rich adventures would be skipping out on our dungeon.
>>
>>1126121
Especially with our otherwise good ratings.

>Spend hard earned savings on an item
vs
>Go through a highly rated dungeon that's a little different every time until you get your reward.

As long as you're not just a habitual grinder, I'm thinking most people would likely go after the latter.
>>
>>1126121
I sort of feel like darkest dungeon adventurers would skip our dungeon.

I just can't see them showing up here, it's too happy for them.
>>
>>1126115
There's been every indication that they intend on taking the generator forcefully, not winning it fairly. And I count "Take me to the Boss without making me fight or I'll subject you (and by implication everyone else in the dungeon) to a painful and horrible death" as "trying to cheat out of actually running through the dungeon."
>>
>>1126101
how so? threatening to use a specialty of your job class in order to avoid a fight is hardly cheating, he could of just chucked the poison at the start of the fight prior to the laws being laid down if he wanted to be a dick but instead he tried a form of negotiation even if it was forceful. plus if the alchemist goes down the ronin pretty much has no reason to stay around since the alchemist is her employer and she's here on a contract.

anyway even if this fight isn't up the alchemists alley, the curi boss fight might be as curi's change from liquid to solid ice form could be interfered with by chemicals which could result in some interesting mechanics

as for why the alchemist wants the slime core... it makes a pet slime right... infinite water runes for a guy who makes potions sounds rather handy yes?
>>
>>1126131
>And I count "Take me to the Boss without making me fight or I'll subject you (and by implication everyone else in the dungeon) to a painful and horrible death" as "trying to cheat out of actually running through the dungeon."
I count it as "being a cheapskate trying to not have to actually use up the poisons."
>>
>>1126100
So if a slime core as an endless supply of a potion's base catalyst as the ultimate prize, then surely we can offer some item drops (read: alchemical ingredients) that catch an alchemist's eye. What about slime plorts? (Plorts: a byproduct of slimes that come in a huge variety depending on the rune composition, they can fetch a pretty penny in the market as substitute gemstones, but their chemical properties catch the eyes of Alchemists as useful ingredients. Relatively common, but their purity pales in comparison to that of a mini-slime core)
>>
>>1126130
eh, even they need a brake from the grim and depressing every now and again so it doesn't become stall

>>1126131
they could just be roll playing. Not really sure how the world works outside of this dungeon.
>>
>>1126121
Thats the thought, however if you add a demand for it....

Hes an alchemist, their whole deal is mixing ingredients with other ingredients in the hopes of finding something awesome, whos to say he can't make a line of multi-colored slime cores for people to get in a gatcha like the one we plan?

We could be run out of both of those businesses before they even begin.

This can only happen if we give him a slime core
>>
>>1126145

"Don't worry, I got this!"

>The Ronin charges forward with wild abandon. The archers fire their arrows while the squires move in and slice at her. She parries every blow the squires make with fist and blade and simply takes the arrows as they come.

>Each arrow embeds itself into her body, some hitting her legs. But nothing slows her down. She cuts down each of the squires like they were wheat ready to be reaped. Without a core they fall apart in moments, their bodies dissolving completely.

"Zantetsuken!" She yells as she slices off the heads of several of the archers.

>The rest try to fight back but without the squires defending them they have no resistance to the woman's close ranged attacks. One by one they are killed. She has more arrows in her than pins in a pincushion, yet still she does not slow.

>Finally, she reaches the prince.

>Simon blocks her opening attack, retaliating with a swift stab to her chest. She knocks the blade aside with her hand, twisting her head and sweeping up with her katana to try and cut him in half.

>A sidestep, parry, and riposte score another blow on the Ronin.

"Ronin!" Chemist says, "Stand aside! I'm using the poison!"

"No way! This is the most fun I've had in ages! Let me just finish this off, I'm gonna win!"

"You're making no progress! I have a schedule to keep!"

"Just a few more hits!"

"I'm throwing the bomb!"

>And so he does. It sails through the air, in a perfect arc, ready to hit the Prince.

>But then, it shatters prematurely.

In theory, I would assume that alchemist also makes consumables, and we only banned poison.

There are plenty of other things that alchemist can and SHOULD try.

I also expect that alchemist has the equivalent of a Jeykl/Hyde potion out there.
>>
>>1126198
Admittedly, we cut off his balls because he threatened to liquefy them.

This dungeon has long, LONG had a policy of 'you play by the rules and be fair, and so will we. You try to be a dick and we'll make things exceedingly rough.'
>>
>>1126166
Nah, let them continue as is.

Chemist clearly miscalculated somethings, namely trying to do this on a schedule. This isn't a dungeon you do as a secondary objective.
>>
>>1126166
Sorry what? Aren't we supposed to beat the heroes, to make a profit? Remember, the Chemist is willing to pay whatever it takes to get the slime core. That involves trying again and again to learn the dungeon's tricks and defeat it.

Personally I think the Ronin stands a good chance of defeating Slime, and the Chemist should be able to come up with some counter to mini-Paladin.

Well... It is the first major room...
Let's see how it goes.

>Slime Paladin is severely weakened in her current state but she's still more than capable of holding back a similarly unarmed man. His cloak manages to absorb the impact of her shield bashes but in return she is able to block his own hits.

>Meanwhile, the Prince and Ronin are still fighting. The room is filled with the sound of metal hitting metal. The pair seem to be at a standstill, neither giving ground to the other.

>Then, an arrowhead digs into Ronin's leg the wrong way. Her knee buckles and the Prince attacks.
>At the same time, a tiny spot is left open in his defense. Ronin knocks aside his rapier and slashes him in half, this time properly dividing his core.

>But, the Prince managed to mark her, too. His blade sticks out of her chest, the Ronin clutching it tightly.

"So much... Fun..." She says as she drops.

>The Paladin sees the Prince fall and runs over to him, holding what is left of his form and weeping for him. Her will to fight is gone.

>A key appears, one of the three needed.
>Chemist scoops up the body of Ronin and retreats.

"There has to be a revival station somewhere..."

Excellent first part. I think this party is great already.

Ronin is going to FLIP SHIT when she gets to fight Queen Lily and Curi! And it's going to be wonderful.

Points of discussion:
>How do we make sure Alchemist has a little more fun in this adventure?
I propose that if they go to the ice elementals, we find a way to sideline Ronin and let Alchemist Shine

>What Boss fights should we have for our princesses?
I have my versions, but I'm too tired to take them out now, expect them this morning.

>Items!
List any and all good ones! I think we should look to making a few for our employees during next build phase. I don't think we'll have enough for a second floor until next time.

>Fun Room Ideas/Traps
We're kind of low on traps, our rooms are great, but as we move up we need to create some more. I'm still partial to the garbage chute trap, and I also like the idea of poison slimes dropping goo from the ceiling in a cellar.

Also a door trap that fires slime into a poor saps' face. What does it do? Nothing...just the slime citadel's sense of humour.

>Alex probably still wants that rune. Yay? Nay? And if she does say yay, do we let her pick?
I say we shouldn't, but let her pick if she insists this time...

watch she just chooses Water to become a slime Alex when she could have just consumed Royal Slime Jelly.
>>
>>1126353
Well, I mean, Alchemist can always just make more anti-slime acid, right? It won't get foiled in all the fights.
>>
>>1126353
well for some more trap ideas, I remember on complant being a few threads ago is that their's not much for rouge/sneaky type classes to do in this dungeon so maybe we could add a secret passage area towards the final boss that would take less keys to get to Curi or at least a secret treasure room but be filled with traps, dead ends, and hidden doors along the way and the path favors the sneaky classes more so they can take a bit more of the spot light and help pull their weight a little more.

Cause right now we kind of have only 2 paths. the fight-y "royal" path where you fight the slime royalty and their guards and mini-game filled "game" path. Might as well throw a sneaky path in their as well and maybe magic heavy path as well. This way non-combat adventures, sneaky adventures, fight-y adventures, and magic adventures all have a place where they can shine during their dungeon run.
>>

We need some Floor traps littered around
Maybe some pressure plates that have some Slime related result, or some more classic floor traps
Pressure plates that cause spears to shoot up around the room or cause Whirling blades to shoot up under the adventurer
Nothing overly lethal but something that a rouge could disable to ease a parties time through the odd passage
Now I know we have some mimics but why not place a few Trapped treasure chests as well.
Opening the trapped chest could cause Whirling blades to shoot out or Slime that inflicts some sort of status effect
Perhaps one of the many suggestions for a trapped hallway that have been posted before: The Hallway of Enchanted suits of Armor or Statues that come alive, or Failing to reach the other end of the hallway within a set time limit causes both ends to seal shut until some kind of enemy is dealt with or the rouge picks the locked door or deactivates the timer before entering the hallway
>>
>>1126425
>rouge
sigh
>rogue
>>
>>1126425
those would work. and in the theme of making the rogue feel more useful we could maybe actual try locking some of the chest as well and have key's be a random drop or if they have a rogue just pick the look. Make keys semi-rare though. As in enough so a team without a rogue can still grab some loot but for the easiest and most loot grabbing it would be better to have a rogue.

Mostly just an aesthetic idea, but for the Curi arena, the floor needs to be imbued to be imbued with different runes. Whenever Curi summons a slime ad, the appropriate runes on the floor are consumed. So if Curi summoned a light slime, a dark slime and a magma slime; three water runes would be consumed along with one each of light dark and fire. There would obviously be far more water runes on the floor than anything else, probably 1 water rune for every 1.5 runes of other types. This would be purely cosmetic, but would allow adventurers to figure out what might be coming next.

If this results in a Metal Slime kill, Cleric Plant needs to be punished.
Also, tell Cleric Plant to release Metal Slime back into the dungeon so he can go back to doing his thing, once Alchemist and Ronin move on.
>>
>>1126598
I disagree. Our dungeon is built around Cleric Plan't opening speech. The fact that Metal Slime made these two miss that speech means that he (or she? slime gendering is hard when they are just little blobs rather than people-shaped) is the one who needs to be punished.
>>
>>1126606
Tbh, if they straight up ignore quest dialogue that's supposed to help them, that's their fault. I mean, they also read up on the dungeon and knew you shouldn't kill the first slime. Maybe try and going further with the theme of general politeness?
>>
>>1126611
If they had stopped to listen then Metal Slime would have got away even faster than it did. Putting Metal Slime out before the party meets cleric plat is a horrible idea that should never be done again, it messes with the flow of the whole dungeon.
>>
>>1126618
Or we could just have MS hide in the hub until Cleric Plant's intro is finished, then pop out and resume fleeing.

If they missed the speech because they were chasing Metal Slime, it's their own fault.
We should probably scold him for running into Cleric Plant, but we can't punish for otherwise for doing his job, which is getting adventurers to chase him and then running the fuck away.

However, if Cleric Plant's actions result in a Metal Slime kill, that deserves punishment because it's a willing interference with another monster's job in the dungeon.
As well, it's not Cleric Plant's job to capture and punish the other monsters of the dungeon, if something happens then it should be taken up with Mary, and Mary can dole out reprimands.
It especially shouldn't be happening during the middle of a Dungeon Run while we have adventurers running loose. This kind of thing will fuck up dungeon coordination.

I'm also fairly sure Metal Slime has an extremely short attention span, I'm pretty sure Larro has mentioned in conversation before that he spends his time circling the dungeon non-stop telling people "Hello." and scattering paperwork.
>>
>>1126353
Alright I'm finally back, time for more fun discussion

>>1126368
Yeah there is that, but I'm also refering to just the variety of things that can be done. I'm sure there are ways to get alchemist involved that allow them to use more that just acid splashing. Alchemists are masters of potions and chemical compounds, it only makes sense that they could do a great number of interesting attacks and moves. I just want to see if we can 'sucker' Alchemist into having a good time.

>Traps

I already had a few
>Pitfall/slide that sends heroes down to the garbage, they have to fight a monster lurking inside to get out. (High potential for a goodie to be found too if you are willing to dig)
>A trip wire trap that sends a vat of poison slimes from above onto the poor offending party's head
>A simple slime ball thrown into the adventurers face. No physical damagae, Just dignity damage. Oh those Slimes are pranksters!
>A floor that has several illusionary sections that if you step on, send you down to the previous floor
>>1126425 has some other good suggestions that I like, including pressure plates with spears, or whirling blades

>Room Ideas

The talk about having something for sneaky adventurers does remind me of a room idea I had previously suggested, this is a non combat room.

>Heroes in an absolutely pitch black room, save for maybe 2-3 light slimes and an iluminated chest with a key/treasure inside
>5-6 Shadow Slimes are lurking in the darkness...waiting...
>The light slimes act as roaming lookouts, trying to spot the heroes as they make their way towards the treasure chest
>they're attracted to noise so be quiet, and make sure you don't get spotted
>If the heroes are spotted by the light slimes, the shadow slimes swarm the hero and kick them out of the room
>If other heroes are still in the room, the door is locked and will remain locked until all party members have been spotted or a hero reaches the chest.
>Once the key has been claimed, the room is illuminated and the heroes can leave the room

This would be good to have, we have a fair bit of combat rooms now, so one extra non-combat room would be good to have.

>>1126496
In the future I like this idea of doing cosmetic changes for the dungeon. Gives a nice spark, should we go down that route.
>>
>>1126632
>If they missed the speech because they were chasing Metal Slime, it's their own fault.
Have you ever been doing something that had all your attention, to the point that you unintentionally ignored other people because you were so focused on it. Metal Slime has a huge reward for being killed, and came out BEFORE Cloeric Plant. Them not noticing Cleric Plant is completely understandable, and not something we want repeated in the future.
>if Cleric Plant's actions result in a Metal Slime kill, that deserves punishment because it's a willing interference with another monster's job in the dungeon.
And Metal Slime interfered with Cleric Plant's job. Yes, he was doing his job, but he did it in such a way as to disrupt the flow of the dungeon.
Metal Slime needs to stay away from people who have speeches to deliver to the characters, unless they've made it clear they don't care about our dungeon's plot.
>>
>>1126640
>unless they've made it clear they don't care about our dungeon's plot.
By they, I mean the adventurers
>>
>>1126640
It's still not Cleric Plant's place to dole out punishments. Again, Metal Slime should probably be scolded for running into Cleric Plant, but Cleric Plant went beyond that and stuffed Metal Slime in a box of it's own volition because it was pissed, IN THE MIDDLE OF A DUNGEON RUN.

On top of that, if they missed Cleric Plant's speech because they were too busy chasing Metal Slime, then that is THEIR FAULT!
Metal Slime is a roving trap essentially. His job is to get them to chase him and make them fuck up.
Not learning about the healing station and getting warnings is a pretty big fuckup, but if they're too focused on Metal Slime, then that's on them.
HE IS DOING WHAT HE IS SUPPOSE TO BE DOING.

>Boss fights

Alright time to drag out my old princess boss fight list...

>Sophie will run from the heroes as they get close to her, casting lot of slowing spells, and throwing little mud traps that when tripped, do massive damage and blinds the opponent.
>Second phase she gets angrier/cries more and the bedroom becomes a quagmire, dodge the rocks and blinding mudballs to get close to her and take your chances
>Final phase, the quagmire becomes a whirlpool and rocks/mud spears and mud balls fly at random directions. The heroes will get dragged into the center and at a certain point Sophie will cover them in mud and trap them in a ball. Try to get out or it will crumple and then explode, sending heroes in all directions, hitting the wall and getting sucked in again.

It's a rough idea, but works well with the "Castle Of Mud" limit break that was suggested.

And as always, Sophie is the only princess you can talk out of fighting, if you complete her subquest. FIND THAT STRANGE PEARL! Or if you do fight her, at least be prepared to resist status effects and rely on your own cleric/bard/buffing character

>Mirelle
>Takes place in her room/on the balcony of her room
>First part is fairly simple. She has her gauntlets and she will absolutely punish you with them. She will try to knock you off the balcony, she will try to knock you out and stun you, but she is headstrong and rushes a bit too much, so if you kite her you have a chance.
>Second part, she calls her mount, a giant salamander! The mount will climb up the parapet and Mirelle will climb on it and fight. The key is to go for the monster, it will kick and stomp, but its slow. Beware its range from the tounge. If you do hit Mirelle she'll punch you back, but there is a chance she loses control temporarily. Kill the beast and you have part 3
>Mirelle does not mourn the beasts loss. No...she's PISSED! She starts using her magma powers to infuse her gauntlets with fire, and starts weilding her Magmallet! She will use her fire and magma to blast at those that surround her, but as always, if you can find an opening in her flurry of blows and plumes of flame, you will prevail.

Again, consider her rage mode in this, but I think this is pretty sufficient, at least in basic execution. Kiting, tanking and range is how you beat her. Mount is definitely her special drop.
>>
>>1126656
>Rosa
>Lots of pillars and furniture in her room, but its big. Real big. Rosa stands on a pillar and for now, just fires quick arrows, like stupid quick, the occasional arrow having magical properties like slow, sleep, blind and flame. So be careful. Get in close and you will knock her down a peg.
>Second stage is much the same, but her bow will now fire seeking arrows, along with those status debuffs and bomb arrows. But because they are seeking, they can be guided. Again get close and you can take her down a peg.
>Final stage. Rosa starts using her plant powers to zip around the stage, and now? Her arrows multiply! So try to follow her and take her out. This time though, she will draw a melee weapon, she's no master, but she can defend herself until she gets to a new firing spot.

This is the one I know needs the most work. But essentially, Rosa is an arrow spammer, and she will quite happily keep you moving. Like all ranged characters, you have to get in close to take her out. I feel like more can probably be done to spruce up her fight though. Plant magic to restrain movement perhaps?
>>
>>1126653
>It's still not Cleric Plant's place to dole out punishments
It hit her in the face. Retaliation is certainly justified.
>
On top of that, if they missed Cleric Plant's speech because they were too busy chasing Metal Slime, then that is THEIR FAULT!
I don't CARE whose fault it is, I don't want it to happen again. Cleric Plant gives us a good portion of our income, if they don't know about his services because they were too busy chasing Metal Slime, then that's money we're losing out on.
>Not learning about the healing station and getting warnings is a pretty big fuckup, but if they're too focused on Metal Slime, then that's on them.
It's not just the healing. We've crafted a plot to go with our dungeon, and Cleric Plant is an important deliverer of exposition. If they miss her initial speech becuase of something, ANYTHING, that thing needs to be changed.
>HE IS DOING WHAT HE IS SUPPOSE TO BE DOING.
What's he's "supposed" to be doing is stupid, and he needs to either cut back while around Cleric Plant, or we need to get rid of him.
>>
>>1126667
>I don't CARE whose fault it is, I don't want it to happen again. Cleric Plant gives us a good portion of our income, if they don't know about his services because they were too busy chasing Metal Slime, then that's money we're losing out on.
If they don't know about his services because they were too busy chasing Metal Slime, then it's more likely they'll run out of steam and die and we get their money anyways.

>>1126667
>It's not just the healing. We've crafted a plot to go with our dungeon, and Cleric Plant is an important deliverer of exposition. If they miss her initial speech becuase of something, ANYTHING, that thing needs to be changed.
Who the fuck cares if they miss the cutscene, we've had people do it before because they either didn't care or attacked Cleric Plant. If they miss the cutscene, they miss the cutscene. Forcing the dungeon to revolve around it and make it unskippable is fucking retarded. Otherwise you might as well just handhold them through the whole damn thing so they don't miss anything.

>What's he's "supposed" to be doing is stupid, and he needs to either cut back while around Cleric Plant, or we need to get rid of him.
No and No. Metal Slime does his job well. We're keeping him.
If that involves him running into Cleric Plant's room and making Adventurers miss the cutscene because they don't want to stop and listen, then that's fine.
>>
>>1126679
>and we get their money anyways.
We don't get all their money when they die.
>make it unskippable is fucking retarded.
I never said make it unskippable, but they have to know it's there to skip.
And we have no idea whether or not these two wanted to listen Cleric Plant because they never got the chance. Having Metal Slime try to lure adventurers into traps is fine. Using Him to make them miss important information is not.
>>
>>1126693
>>1126679
How about we either keep him confined to the maze area, or have him only start appearing after CP has it's speech?
>>
>>1126693
>And we have no idea whether or not these two wanted to listen Cleric Plant because they never got the chance
They should have known about it ahead of time, Alchemist showed knowledge of the dungeon with Ms. Bloops and the fact that he knew there was a Healing Station.
He could have easily stayed behind to get information or told Ronin to stop chasing the Metal Slime, instead they stormed after it and into the boss room.

>Using Him to make them miss important information is not.
Them missing the information is entirely on them and besides, it makes the dungeon more interesting and interactive. Now they have to negotiate with Cleric Plant for healing instead of just listening to a cutscene.

>>1126697
>How about we either keep him confined to the maze area
That'd be a waste of his free roaming ability.

>or have him only start appearing after CP has it's speech?
That'd be a waste because beyond here is all boss fights and mini-games.

>He could have easily stayed behind to get information or told Ronin to stop chasing the Metal Slime, instead they stormed after it and into the boss room.

>splitting the party

>>
>>1126700
You're basically saying that people should have to rely on a strategy guide for our dungeon or be penalized.
We are always talking about making more floors to the dungeon, and I think one of them would be better for Metal Slime. One with actual traps to lure them into, rather than just running around like a mad-slime hoping to accomplish something worthwhile and ruining the dungeon for the other minions.
>>
>>1126707
I see it more as another loot trap. Like a mimic, if you blindly run for the loot, you're in for a bad time.
But I agree that an actual trap floor would be a better place.
>>
>>1126718
>To be fair, he's the one who told her to kill it.
Yeah but he can't really call her off once she gets determined to do something, looking at slimon's fight. Honestly the Metal slime should porbably have portaled out once they reached the hub which is a safe area.
>>
>>1126715
For a dungeon, it's true we don't really have a lot of traps. I think for now, while it does restrict movement, metal slime may be better off in the maze. It's the only conventional trap we have. Though if I call we can't even assign that bugger to a room. I may be mistaken.

But as noted earlier, people have some ideas for traps. Lets look to those when we expand and allow the ability for more traps to happen.

That said, if metal slime decides to lurk in Ruth's room, I won't protest at the idea of them trying to fight metal slime, AND dodge baseballs. Comedy potential is there and waiting.
>>
>>1126705
>>Calling off ms. stab happy
To be fair, he's the one who told her to kill it.

>>1126707
Nah, I'm saying that if people rush through things, or chase stuff they'll miss things. However if they miss things, that's their fault for not stopping to listen. It just makes it worse when they used a strategy guide beforehand.

It's like an in MMO, when you're going through a raid and some people watch the cutscenes, some people skip through them and have to wait 10 minutes for everyone else to be done and fight the boss.

Honestly, I think another reason this went as bad as it did is because they got to skip the Maze. If they had gone through the maze, Metal Slime would have been able to lure them into more things.

>>1126715
>I see it more as another loot trap. Like a mimic, if you blindly run for the loot, you're in for a bad time.
This, he is a Roaming Trap Monster.
>>
>>1126721
>Honestly the Metal slime should porbably have portaled out once they reached the hub which is a safe area.
Possibly, and again we should probably scold him for outright running into Cleric Plant.
Though I half expect him to have thought Cleric Plant was "safe" and he was trying to hide.

But Cleric Plant needs the screws put to her as well. This is not the proper thing to do mid-dungeon run. Bring it up with Mary when we're in safe mode.
>>
Metal Slime shouldn't spawn until at least one of the rooms branching out from the hub has been cleared.
>>
>>1126728
>This is not the proper thing to do mid-dungeon run.
We don't know what happened while Alchemist and Ronin were fight the Prince and Paladin. Maybe Metal Slime kept antagonizing her.
>>
>>1126731
Maybe he didn't. We can't go on Maybes.
>>
>>1126734
Even if he didn't, he had still assaulted her once already. I don't see any problem with what Cleric Plant did.
>>
>>1126736
Because it's not her place to punish the other monsters in the dungeon, especially during a dungeon run.
It is Mary's Job to hand down reprimands.

>>
>>1126775
>I much prefer when we're talking about potential plans for the dungeon.
That's what this is about. I want Metal Slime moved somewhere else, or even removed entirely until we have a better place for it, like that second floor we keep talking about.
He want's it kept where it is despite the problems it's causing to the other minions.
>>
>>1126786
Yeah, but the discussion moved on from plans on what to do about Metal slime to what looked like a "No/Yes" situation about Cleric's actions.
>>
>>1126786
>Problems it's causing
It ran into Cleric Plant once, which again I said it should be scolded for. Other then that it's done it's job swimmingly.

Besides, by your logic we should remove Cleric Plant for causing problems with the other minions, since it locked Metal Slime up in a box.
>>
>>1126792
>what to do about Metal slime
Metal Slime is fine.
>>
Well, we should probably keep them away from some of the less serious rooms, they seem like they want a straight fight. Cleric Plant should definitely help them out though, they aren't gonna get through much more of the dungeon with only one person.
>>
>>1126814
It should be noted that there is a store function, not our token store, but an actual store that sell phoenix downs. If Cleric won't do it, Alex can still gladly sell them.
>>
So guys, I drew a thing of what I think our Outside view (read: dungeon entrance) of Slimecrown should look like.

Any feedback?
The entrance will be subject to change when we install new floors and dungeon zones.
>>
>tl;dr bitching about Slime Interrupt

Add a small tunnel (tiny-slime sized, with entrance that closes after it) for Metal Slime to enter after exiting the maze. Hero(s) then meet Cleric and get dungeon explanation. Metal slime can either then exit tunnel into Cleric area and Hero(s) chase it into next dungeon section, or it can turn up again later in the dungeon in a designated area, or it can turn up randomly in one of the Princess battles and the Hero(s) only have a chance to find it if they happen to go into the right room.
Or the profit maximisation version: Metal Slime will only re-enter the dungeon AFTER the Hero(s) have earned the three tokens needed to enter the boss battle. They then have the choice of proceeding directly to the boss, or chasing the Metal Slime for a chance at a larger reward, with the risk of overexerting themselves.
>>
>>1126824

I agree that it wasn't an attack, but honestly, the first time it ran under Cleric's skirt, true. Second time it hit him in the face.

OK so as I'll be asleep for the thread proper I want to talk about what we plan on spending gold and runes on, I feel we should invest new runes in making basic slimes to up our production of new runes as this will help in the long run, once we have those future runes we can get the many 4+ rune monsters we want to drop the price of Dungeoneer II. Gold I would be inclined to save for now unless we want to spend 125G for a False Wall and Treasure Room to give Rogue something to do, I do want to but I don't want to open the throw open the floodgates on every cash sink we can dream up. Finally we still have no Psionic loot! can we add a Psychic Slime pet that gives a bonus against despair/fear because it loves and believes in you so much and gives a power buff to psychics, some Psionic/Tech item, a psychic crafting substance and an item (Headband of the Enlightened Slime maybe?) that lets you psychically manifest and control a slime like force to the loot table please.
>>
>>1127133

Food and Water
I think we'd have to be a bit more specific. That or just let Dungeoneer...go wild...

scary thoughts...

Anyways the game plan is pretty solid. I have a couple things I'd like to see us do to cover bases.

For one, we need to remake a few slimes, Mud Slime, Magma Slime and Plant Slime. They're very useful slimes that will certainly see play in future battles I'm sure.

Then I actually think we should maybe spend some time on using runes for item creation for our monsters to use. Just to give them a bit more flavour, kind of like with Ruth's bat. Simon could get some sort of Sword, Rosalyn could get a helmet or something(that way we can always see her eyes)

I think it depends on gold usage here, but I'd like to rotate something like the Ice Elemental room at some point and try the light/dark slime puzzle found >>1126637 here, definitely worth seeing is we can do something for the more sneaky/agile members of adventuring parties.

The only other things I'd recommend is that we go and use some runes to expand spa services to get more gold. Spa packages with more attendees (mud bath slime, masseuse, seaweed wrap slimes, a little magma slime running a sauna, for example) and better quality care will net us more long term gold. Provided of course, that adventurers go there.

>>
>>1127220
Fair point but we're currently on 0 Runes and you've earmarked at least 6, although we don't know how long it takes for our slimes to reproduce or the average interval between customers I feel we're better off getting the one rune slimes first and then upgrading them when we have something to work with.
>>
>>1127508
I think my current math count is 15 per session. Though that would also depend on things like drops and how much Curi actually drops on a regular basis.

We have made simple one rune items before, and failing that, we could always just buy an item, infuse it with a rune, and go from there.

That and earmarking 6 of them is fine because it generates 3 runes consistantly that way.
>>
>>1127508
Depending on the slime, it could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. String slime is the slowest because it slowly spits out slime. By the end of this run, we should have at least 3 runes produced by the slimes, on top of the runes we get from these guy's items.
>>
>>1126875
Bread, Container, Meat and Water.

It is an extremely dangerous pie.
>>
>>1127508
>>1127582

Rare runes reproduce slowly. HOWEVER, we have the ability to turn any rune into any rune. That means we simply need enough standard slimes to spawn up our main roster of runes.
>>
Is metal slime at the moment going counter to our current sidegoal of giving more things for rogues to do? If the entire party is trying to sprint through the dungeon and tank traps in order to get the metal slime, then the rogue falls by the wayside again unless the party is okay with missing the metal slime.
>>
>>1127626
That's more of a risk-reward choice on their end than anything against rouges I feel.

If you did think it a problem though we could always give the metal slime a more fixed route through the dungeon or give it a hidden room to sneak away into for the party to find. But the problem isn't with the slime itself.
>>
>>1127626
If they choose to ignore the rogue and rush through, then that's on them.
Metal Slime is there so they stupidly chase him and he leads them into bad situations.
>>
>>1127622
I know. At this point we don't count out runes specifically, we only list the rune types and total amount we have. The string slime is an example of a slime taking a while to build a whole new slime.

We have a Archiver for that, rare runes are a water rune away.

shouldn't be limited to bunny style. they get a standard water rune only slime, and it gets a new rune infused to it depending on how they raise it. some kind of "animal" rune would give bunny, and we already know what the other kinds are. can feed their slime anything, they bring from outside, so like, feed their slime swords to get a sword slime. this will let people make anything they want, thus collectors would need to come back to get one of everything. also you need to buy a evo fruit or something from the shop to turn into a three rune slime.
>>
>>1127845
And if they managed to get a core from Curi then fuse it with a bunny it will become a golden variant/epic variant that can help out more in a dungeon.
>>
>>1127773
I'm all for that, I should warn you though that I would then push for mutable themed runs rather than just a few rooms.
Examples of these runs include sticking the games together so Ruth the maze and the Light and Dark room, giving Lily an extra rune and a boss room and having all the court and nobility stuff as her run, making a few more types of Elementals and having the Monk Slimes Temple with a Order and Chaos runed Grand Master as the boss and World of Slime with lots of mobs and Curi as the boss.
Each run could have its difficulty set before you start and the thing in the basement is available to people who complete enough of the runs on hard.
Of course that's a long way off.
>>
>>1127845
Actually, I like that, however why not have them start with the basic slime, and through "donations" given to us, give the adventurers something to feed the slimes.
We are not adverse to actually having a donation box that they can drop items into.

Whatever slime variation that they unlock that we dont have we can offer them a choice between doing a boss rush to keep it as a minion or keep feeding it and let it grow.

Incentivizing while at an almost zero startup cost on our end. However we will need to make a wing at this point for all of the non dungeon battle themed rooms we are building.

I think bunny is a good base. It's cute and adds personality not seen throughout the rest of the dungeon. It probably wouldn't even take a rune to have them take a specific shape, just intention in crafting.

In general, though customization is certainly a neat idea. Donations from the adventurers to their favorite slime, either through items they bring or items they scavenge in the dungeon would be neat.

Having the little slimes compete in their own competitions would give the owners a feeling of satisfaction, while they're still in the nursery. Then, when they finally prove to the slime that they're a good owner, the slime can choose to give their core to them. At that point, they can take it through the rest of the dungeon with them, or out of the dungeon, if they have a mind.
>>
>>1127866
You know, the one thing that we had foreshadowed forever ago is that a created monster can only break out of the dungeon's control if they have a strong desire to accomplish a goal, or are obscenely powerful. We got another glimpse of that when Ruth told Moon Elf about her plans for the future, whatever those are.

What would happen if a monster got both a will strong enough to resist the dungeon and obtained the level of strength to do so almost instantly?

What Im getting at is, I feel we aren't paying nearly enough attention to the constatnt threat that is Jeffrey. Depending on what he wants, he definitely has the power to achieve his goal, and we just keep feeding him more people to eat, and continue to grow.
>>
Fuck the dungeon. It's going to be only a side attraction to our resort.

The final objective is to buy the company were Mary worked and fire the boss.
>>
>>1127899

>>

well yeah, expand from slimecrown citadel into slimecrown kingdom. if we could make a foyer zone that could let multiple parties in at once that would be great. then we can have the theme park area out front and atop a hill in the back is the citadel that people can enter and challenge. would let us move the shops and stuff into the park area.

"...." Cleric Plant takes a deep breath, collecting herself and winding down. "My apologies, sir, I was mistaken. The price for a revival is 200 gold. However, this price will go up each time I must use it. Also, we do have a shop you can visit where you can purchase items such as potions of Phoenix Downs."

"That is far more reasonable. Do it. 200 is nothing compared to the reward."

>Cleric Plant nods and revives Roning. The sword wielder gasps and sits back up.

"W-what!? I.... Aw, fuck... I got killed, didn't I? Dammit. I was hoping I could power through that. Guess you can't just adrenaline through a heart stab."

>not try to forcibly speedrun it.
this is an issue of play styles not everyone wants to play the same way and as a business we must accommodate more than 1 play style we like. if he wants to speed run it then some options for that should be made (just make it a bit harder than a normal run for balances sake).

for example we could set up a series of timed "defeat as many enemies as possible" sections that way there is a set amount of time to the run.
or we could set up a boss rush option where your overall time to defeat all the bosses in a row is used to determine special drop rates.

Yes, speedrunning is fine.

FORCIBLY speedrunning - rushing through by sequence breaking violently as opposed to skillfully - is not.

You can break into a bank by stealthily avoiding guards and cameras and stealing the vault keys off of an unaware guard, or you can blow open the doors, murder all but one of the guards, and then threaten to flay the survivor alive until he gives up the key to the vault. Both are legitimate, but the latter is FAR more dickish.
>>
>>1129409
What was he sequence breaking?
He was trying to solve the encounter by an alternate means. Intimidation rather than combat. That's not sequence breaking, that's lateral thinking.

"Ey, so... Those two in there were the Prince and his Bodyguard." Ronin says

"Rosalyn and Simon, yes."

"Well uh... I just killed em. You're not pissed or anything? What do you do here?"

>Cleric Plant seems a bit more excited now.

"I represent neutral ground. While their loss saddens me, the Monster could only be taken on by the truly strong. That you got past them isn't a completely sad thing... It also represents hope. Hope that you will be strong enough to take on the Monster."

"I see..."

"Ronin," Chemist says, "We did not come here for lore. Forgive my haste, miss, but there is an item I wish to obtain here. You must understand."

"But of course. All come here for different reasons. It is only my wish that the reason will be a just one." Cleric Plant says, fully back into character.

"No need to rush, Chemist," Ronin says, "Hey, you said there was a Spa, right? How much is it?"

Ronin is going to fight the monster, I hope she survives a couple of seconds more than the rest. I like her.
>>
>>1129431
uh... is the item he's after a drop item only or can he get it with tokens... I don't remember... it was the mini slime core right?

cause we might be able to change how he approaches the dungeon if he decides to focus on tokens rather than a low drop rate boss item.

100g was the rate. We only offer a basic service right now. So lets just go with that.

There is also snacks that they can buy there at their leisure.
>>
>>1129431
I remember the price. From Thread 4:
50 gold per person. Spending 1500 gold will earn you a voucher for a free spa treatment.
>>
>>1129459
>>1129463
>>1129431
Also we have a cafe with 0 visits.
>>
>>1129481
We need to invoke a strict "Do not bring rations" rule.
>>
>>1129431
"A hundred gold for both of you, although I'm assuming you won't be joining?"

If that's the case, point him to one of the keys that's in a puzzle room with no combat, like the dance room, although we should warn him beforehand that he might want to mix up a potion of agility if his physical prowess isn't up to snuff.

>>1129453
I think it's both.
>>
>>1129431
If they plan on doing the ice elemental room, they should do that before going to the spa. People are known to get a bit dirty there.
>>
>>1129463
Little early for the 1500 package. Lets get more attendants so that we can actually support that. Buuuut its a good future plan!
>>
>>1129492
That'll just make people hide them. And what'll we do when they do use them? No, the obvious answer is to make the Cafe so great that people /want/ to eat there.
>>
>>1129492
Or we could tweak the comfy pit slimes to eat people's food.

Weed+Water+Comfy=Munchie Slime
>>
>>1129496
I would rather toss Alchemist to Ice Elementals. Seems a challenge he can handle.
>>
>>1129431
Please also advertise the Dungeon Cafe please.
>>
we can make in the spa the ''nap room''. A room full of comfy slimes and beds to sleep in. Not basic slimes, three or four runes slimes.
>>
>>1129529
I fully support a Comfy Slime Nap room
>>
>>1129529

and have the Siren Slime Quartet serenade them to sleep. An effective if evil tactic to split the party.
>>
>>1129551
Why make it a slime room? Mary said in an earlier thread that sleeping in a comfy slime feels nice, but once you get up you're just covered in slime, and no longer comfy.

Why not just make it a comfy room?

"Only 100 gold per person, miss. We also have a cafe that you can visit for an invigorating drink."

"Man that sounds really nice. This dungeon is great. You down, Chemist?"

"No." He pulls out a map. "You go and recover. I know you must be Weakened from the revival. I will instead get another key. Hmm... I think this map is out of date... The maze wasn't there originally... IT looks like another room is a simple puzzle and rewards the key."

"You sure you can handle it? It would be pretty shitty if the dude I was hired to protect died."

"Your worth is in fighting the mini-bosses and bosses. I will tackle the puzzles."

>She shrugs.

"If you insist. We'll meet up back here. If you're not here when I get back I'll go and drag your corpse out."

"Very well."

>The two part ways. Chemist goes into the next room, reviewing his notes.

"It says something about a button here... I presume I just need to press it? A simple challenge."

>Ruth smiles.

The slime is part of the experience.

Comfy slimes in a comfy room.

We can even give them some cloth runes to make them more like sentient slime beds.

Since this is Chemist... We're gonna alter the formula.

yes. They expect a supersonic fast ball, but string balls are essentially cotton balls. They're great for catching adventurers off guard.

Ah, okay, so the string balls are to allow them a bit of a chance to progress forward instead of Ruth constantly batting them back.

Pretty much. Theyre practically just little pillows.

>The battle begins. Ruth begins batting balls at the Chemist, simple ones at first, but still filled with great power.

>The Chemist dodges the first, drinking a potion as he ducks. The second one he's able to dodge much faster, and the third.
>Ruth picks up the speed

>After the normal balls she starts batting psionic runed balls. These balls swerve if they miss, hitting the target at odd angles. The first sends the Chemist flaying back and knocks him into the ground, letting him get hit by another one.

>He drinks another potion then simply sprints, trying to reach the button before anything else can him him. Ruth starts hitting fire baseballs at him, the heat allowing them to close the gap and pelt him.

>She then follows up with what is basically a jawbreaker and hits him in the face.

"I see... I can not simply run past. Very well then! You wish to use projectiles on me!? I will respond in kind!" He reaches into his cloak and produces different bottles.

>Now, each time Ruth sends a ball flying at him he counters with a bottle to dissolve it.
>Each time he destroys a ball he is able to inch closer and closer.

"Best dungeon."

Nice. Very nice.

I'm glad that the Alchemist is figuring out that you can't just brute force your way through our dungeon. Hopefully it'll help him get in a better mindset to enjoy the rest of it and running the gauntlet for however long he needs to to get the slime core.

>As the two fight in Ruth's room, the slime notices something. The gears in her simple mind begin to turn as she comes to a very carefully thought out conclusion.

'This man is good at throwing'

>She slides under the glass separating them, throwing her bat throw the small gap in the pane as she does.

>The Chemist is ready to retaliate in attack but he senses no malice from the slime. Ruth approaches him with a ball in hand, holding it out in a non-threatening way.

"... What is this? Is this a part of the puzzle?"

"-slime noises.-" She nudges the ball at him.

"... You... Do you want me to... Throw this at you?"

"-Excited slime noises!-"
