Shinobi Quest #58This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event. (It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)Stat Sheet:http://pastebin.com/WiPdCqLHOmake #1 Shinobi Quest GAIDEN: Asa’s Story in Another World!http://pastebin.com/X3viHAZQPrevious Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Shinobi%20QuestLast Thread, Tsuki Norihime was introduced to Toneri Otsutsuki, last of the line of Hamura Otsuktsui, descendant of Kaguya, and Lord of the Moon. After staying with him for a time, Tsuki decided that he could not be reasoned with regarding the status of Kaguya's worshipers, and opted to take matters into her own hands. Fleeing, she left a note and token for the young boy, before taking a nasty spill into the sea below.Heading towards where the rabbits should be, she quickly ran into one of their forward scouts- Akuto, a Hunter and Genjutsu user. Falling prey to his genjutsu and failing to reason with him, Tsuki did the unthinkable: surrendering herself into his custody. Taken before the rabbit's matriarch, the one known as Grandmother, Tsuki began to tell her tale to an unfriendly audience....
>>1102116Here and hyped!
>>1102116Time for Tsuki to tell a story about a story.
this story is shitshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
The matriarch's brow raises. "Stores told on a field of green, you say? Old memories indeed. Say- would you be able to recall that story?" She asks.[Excellent Memory activates!]"Uhm.. sure. It isn't short, so I apologize." You begin. You begin to recount the Matriarch's tale from that night so long ago, doing your best to remember exact details...-----------------------------And so, you preach the sermon of Kaguya Otsutsuki to these rabbits, describing the events told of during Grandmother’s original story. You know aspects of it are intentionally vague, or even incorrect, having learned the “full” tale from Kaguya herself- but it’s best that these creatures hear the version they are familiar with. The story takes nearly an hour, and by the end many of the young rabbits around you- kits, as you remember them being called- are sitting around you, enthralled by your story. Some of the older rabbits are taken aback- while the ones Akuto warned you about, Saishi and Oki, show no visible emotion.“And thus, the story told to me ended.” You finish, bowing before Grandmother and the court of rabbits.“A fine one indeed, child- especially for one who, by her own admission, heard it only once. I would say you truly have a storyteller’s potential.” Grandmother says, her leporine features warped into a broad smile. The old rabbit stands, walking towards you. In her shadow, you can still see that black rabbit, with white, unblinking eyes- although they don’t seem trained upon you.“My own sons have likely heard the tale a thousand times- and yet, I doubt even they could recall it with such accuracy.” She smirks.“So, you believe me? You question hopefully. You certainly don’t have time to sit and argue with these rabbits like you did with Toneri.“I’m inclined to, child. I could see no other way for you to learn the legend, especially the manner in which you told it. You said the Goddess sent you to us as a savior from our prison- although I am curious what you mean by that. We did choose to come here of our own volition, as you know.” Grandmother responds.“Yes- although the descendants of Hamura certainly made your life hard. Their civil war nearly destroyed this place, did it not?” You ask.“Indeed. It was beyond them to let us leave in peace, of course- but their chakra techniques- that horrid Tenseigan- nearly burned away all life on this false planet. All the life here is artificially grown, you see- the stuff of chakra. The infrequent blooms are inedible, and the trees never bear fruit. What we eat now we steal from old Otsutsuki storehouses, much to the chagrin of those who lived past the war. Times were hard- though it did improve for a time as the old Otsutsuki began to die off. Most of us know, however, that living here is a slow death.” Grandmother explains.
>>1102264hnnnng can we please leave the rabbits here
>>1102303No, we've already told Tonrei we're doing it too
Finally, the Quest happens on a day and night I can afford to hang around!
>>1102303We've pretty much have locked in at this point, i'm not even sure we have the power to return on our own anyways, y'know, with a broken arm and low chakra
“Thus, I prayed to our goddess for salvation. When the war came, I prayed for salvation. When the marauding Otsutsuki killed all but one of my original litter, I prayed for salvation. When food became scarce, and we began strict rationing. I prayed for salvation. Every day since then, I have prayed, Tsuki Norihime. For almost a hundred years, I have done so- and here you are. That foul-mouthed son of mine, Shigure, would scarcely believe it.” She says, vaguely misty-eyed.“Your son? Are all of these rabbits related to you?” You wonder aloud.“Indeed- that is why they call me Grandmother. Of course, I haven’t given birth for many a century- and most of my original children have left us for the pure lands. Those you see before you are my grandchildren- or great grandchildren…. By a few generations.” She laughs.“Most, you said?” You ask.“Yes- all but one. My son Shigure is the last of his litter, a bitter old rabbit that hasn’t lived with us since the Otsutsuki’s war ended. He’s rather unreliable, honestly…” She complains.Even spirits have familial spats, huh? You suppose it makes sense.“Always on about joining his brothers and sisters by dying on the field of battle. He was always the hyper-active one, and not I fear he’s lost his sense of purpose. If I was to guess where he is now… probably off in the wilderness somewhere, looking for some of those Otsutsuki puppets to destroy. The only thing he finds solace in, now.”Your eyes trail off slightly to the shadow behind Grandmother- she certainly hasn’t mentioned it.“Do not ask, child. You do not deserve it’s gaze. She is my burden.” Grandmother rebukes softly, noticing your wandering eyes. You straighten your back and snap your eyes straight ahead.“Er, yes, Grandmother.” “So, what do you propose? Surely Kaguya wouldn’t have sent you here unequipped for your task.” Grandmother inquires. You produce the egg from around your neck.“This is a powerful relic granted to me by Kaguya- it allowed me to create a portal to come to this world. It should be able to transport me back, along with you.” You explain.“Indeed- although I wonder… will it hold long enough for all of us to enter?” She questions. You sigh. The energy required to open the portal had been taxing beyond belief- you aren’t even entirely sure you can control it.You…1. Explain the original plan- to form a contract with the rabbits, taking them through the portal.2. Say that you could keep it open, as long as you have enough energy.3. Admit that you aren’t entirely sure how to get them all through.
>>1102491>1. Explain the original plan- to form a contract with the rabbits, taking them through the portal.
>>1102491>1. Explain the original plan- to form a contract with the rabbits, taking them through the portal.Run it past her; we can always improvise if that won't work for some reason.
>>1102491>2. Say that you could keep it open, as long as you have enough energy.oh jesus christ
>>1102491>2. Say that you could keep it open, as long as you have enough energy.

Explaining the plan.Writing~
“According to Kaguya, if I form a contract with you, I can use it to teleport you off this world.” You explain. “Although I wasn’t aware there were quite so many of you. Also, I’m not entirely sure I have the strength of chakra to perform a mass summoning.” “A contract!? With human?! Grandmother, surely we can continue working to leave the holy lands without needing to fall so low?” The large rabbit, Oki, sputters.“Hush, Oki. The goddess has heard my prayers, and offered us a new path forward. I shan't spurn it due to old hatreds.” Grandmother scolds. Many of the other rabbits are murmuring among themselves, and you can see several of the adults outside peeking in. “A contract, though- we are likely some of the only spirits remaining who never partook of the chakra of humans. Once we all would’ve reacted as Oki did, but I don’t see any other way without massive loss of life.” Grandmother muses.“Still, a contract is a binding agreement. Are you ready for such a thing?” She questions. You hesitate. Since you’d passed on Anko’s offer of a contract with the snakes, you’d been keeping your ears and eyes open, judging and looking for other opportunities for them. Summons were definitely useful, and you certainly hadn’t heard of anyone breaking their contracts after making them. Before you can say anything, however, the Matriarch picks up on your hesitation.“Seems you may not be. I certainly cannot blame you- forming such a pact is no small promise. I’m willing to do whatever is necessary to save my kind- including attempting to find a way around this restriction. Of course, it would certainly be easier if you agreed. As a sage, my abilities in chakra manipulation are second to none- I could easily grant you some of my chakra. Be advised, though- the nature chakra we spirits utilize is rather volatile in you humans. If you aren’t able to balance it within you, it might just turn you to stone.” She says flatly.“S-stone?” You stammer.“Correct. Overload a human with Nature chakra, and they turn to stone. It is… quite the useful skill, but offensively and defensively.” Grandmother explains, a slight look of amusement on her face.Your brow twitches. You’d never even heard of Nature chakra- although knowing what you did regarding the origination of chakra in humans, you suppose that nature spirits, like the snakes or these rabbits, would’ve gotten theirs from a different source."A dangerous gambit, to be sure. But, it would give you enough chakra to maintain the portal to let us through, if you're so adverse to signing a contract with us." She finishes. The omni-present shadow lurks on the edges of your vision, but you think you can see it smiling. You shudder.
Nature Chakra, oh that's one dice roll that may end up terribly, i mean, new thread new dice, but that's one hell of a gamble
>>1102953How would that work with our own chakra, I wonder...
>>1103021We will wipe the world clean anon, purge the world of the weak, give purpose back to humanity.
Saishi, who’d been quiet until now, speaks.“So, you’d pin our future on some human kit? Grandmother, would she be so hesitant if she was sent from the Goddess to aid us? Moreover, why would the Goddess send one such as her to us? Surely there was a human more capable.”You grit your teeth. “Saishi. The word of the goddess absolute- and I won’t have you questioning it in from of her emissary. Your asceticism will only get you so far- and we certainly cannot apply it to the rest of the clan.” Grandmother chides.“Hmph. If this “emissary” of the goddess turns to stone in an attempt to save us, I wouldn’t be surprised. Uncle Shigure is right about all this- we should destroy the Otsutsuki and be done with it. We can find our way out of the holy land without outside assistance.” Saishi spits.Grandmother shows no fury- but her living shadow triples in size, glaring fiercely at the robed rabbit. “Saishi. Do you doubt the goddess?” Grandmother asks simply, little emotion bleeding through. You cast your eyes downward- you don’t know why, but that thing really unsettles you. What is it? Saishi’s composure breaks nearly instantly, his calm demeanor vanishing.“Er- no. No, Grandmother. I apologize. I spoke out of turn.” He acquiesces. ….and why are all the other rabbits afraid of it?Looking around, you can see the the rest of them have averted their eyes, not looking at Grandmother or Saishi.“Do not speak of Shigure to me as if I am not aware of his plans, kit. His words poison the thoughts of all of you- even as salvation stares you in the face.” She scolds venomously. She takes a deep breath, and the shadow begins to shrink, eventually returning to it’s original size.“I apologize for my disrespectful family, Tsuki. I sometimes fear the depth of their faith does not mirror my own.”Every rabbit in the room shares a despondent, shameful look. These folk seem to be living on the edge- how much longer would they remain cohesive if you had not arrived?“N-no worries! I don’t mind. It’s better for them to speak their mind, Grandmother.” You reply.“Nonsense. I won’t have them blaspheming in front of a guest.” She huffs, obviously still angry towards the two larger rabbits.“Akuto, fetch my pipe. Your cousin is giving me a headache.” She calls out to the smaller rabbit behind you.“R-right away, Grandmother!” He stammers.--------------------------------------------------------
Boss bun don't take no shit
>>1103210I'm really warming up to Saishi. I mean she's a fanatic, and right now as an emissary of her goddess offering salvation we're on her best side, so it's a little biased. But I'm still warming up to her, and it sounds like she might be amenable to a live and let live policy.
>>1103270Saishi is a guy, and is Grandmother's descendant
>>1103270>Saishi’s composure breaks nearly instantly, his calm demeanor vanishing.I think Saishi's a guy.
>>1103210Must be the Dark Side of the Moon
>>1103289D'oh, I slipped. Yeah I meant Grandmother. Can't even pretend that was autocorrupt, that is all me.
A few moments later, Akuto returns, bearing a pipe and tobacco. He presents it to Grandmother, who wordlessly takes the pipe and begin to pack it.With a wave of her paw, a small flame lights her pipe, and she begins to puff lightly. With her eyes closed, she addresses you, obviously enjoying her tobacco.“Regardless, I would know what you plan to do, Tsuki Norihime. I will not pressure you to take a contract if you do not wish it- but it is the only surefire way to complete the task given to you by the goddess.” Grandmother muses. “R-right. Out of curiosity, how often are humans successful at harnessing nature chakra?” You ask.“Rarely. I believe those old toads of Mt. Myoboku had some way to ease them into it, but even then, I can only recall a handful of your kind not dying because of it. As for recently? I wouldn’t know.” She explains, taking another puff on her pipe.“Do you have such a method?” You inquire.“No. I’m sure once we’re off this moon and acquire a new home, we could try our hand at it. We’d have a lot more free time on our hands, instead of fighting for survival, you understand.” She replies.Feh. It can’t ever be easy…Ruminating on what to do, you can only see a few choices- and your time is running out.You…1. Sign the contract. It’s what you came to do, after all.2. Will try the method using Grandmother’s nature chakra- even if it’s highly dangerous. 3. Ask about the details of the contract.

If there's nothing that inspires immediate existential dread sign it. If they refuse to explain it, that's kinda disturbing but signing it is probably te best bet for getting us all off the moon with all our limbs and organs intact.

Looking over the contract, with a predisposition towards signing it.Writing.
“Fine, let the contract negotiation begin.” You state simply.“...Negotiation? There isn’t much room for a negotiation in a summoning contract, child. It is primarily about supplying chakra to us to manifest and act on your behalf. This initial summoning requires activation of a blood ritual on a contract mark that appears on you when the contract is signed.” Grandmother explains. This does match what you know of summoning contracts- Anko briefly explained them, and you’d seen Hinata activate them before. But still, you aren’t the type to accept an offer at face value….“I’d still like to see it. I try not to make a habit out of signing something before reading the fine print.” You say, cocking your head.“Very well. As you are the first human to ever seek a pact with us, I ask you treat the contract with care- it is the original copy, after all.” Grandmother waves her paw, and a large, lavishly decorated wooden box appears.“Saishi. Give Tsuki the contract.” She instructs.Seemingly trying to make amends for earlier, Saishi snaps to attention, quickly procuring the box and bringing it to you.“This contract is older than all of us other than Grandmother. Please, treat with care.” He begs. “...Right. I will. Thank you, Saishi.” You respond. He gives you a quizzical look before returning to his corner to sulk. You give the contract a once over, treating it gingerly after unrolling the scroll. It is quite old- and written in an antiquated script, making it rather difficult to read.Thankfully, you’re able to get the gist of the contract- providing mutual aid to one another whenever requested, and being able to summon one another when necessary. Pretty standard stuff, similar to an alliance contract in the nations of old. A few things stick out, particularly the lack of a termination clause, and no term present on the length of the agreement.“So, in my experience, contracts such as these benefit from having a agreed upon length of time assigned to them, as well as a mutually agreeable termination clause.” You critique, pointing to the lines near the bottom of the paper where such things would normally be.Grandmother takes another puff of her pipe.“I see humans haven’t changed much over the years, even ones chosen by the goddess.” She sighs.
“The is no termination clause because terminating the contract is a massive taboo. This is a pledge of mutual friendship and cooperation, Tsuki. Should such thing have a secret path out for sneaky humans or capricious spirits to exploit? I think not. Besides, the term of the contract is your natural lifespan. This is true of all spirits contracts. Out of respect for one another, most spirits would not even consider signing a contract with a known contractual apostate, unless they were already on bad terms with those spirits to begin with.” Grandmother explains.“I… see.” You mutter. What kind of dumb contract doesn’t allow for renegotiation as situations and fortunes change? This is barely a business contract at all- it’s more akin to a marriage pact! You begin to grumble under your breath.You...1. Sign the contract anyway.2. Try to renegotiate the contract. (In what way?)
>>1103935>1. Sign the contract anyway.
>>1103935>1. Sign the contract anyway.Lets do this...I know the law and contracts can be amended at later dates.
>>11039351. Sign the contract anyway.
>>1103935>1. Sign the contract anyway.I don't see negotiations making much head way
>>1103935>1. Sign the contract anyway
>>1103935>1. Sign the contract anyway.Probably best to get this show on the road before the boy shows up
>>1103935>1. Sign the contract anyway. It basically IS a marriage contract, specifically a political marriage to the powerful allies of a major political figure. In other words, not the first, and not the last "may death do us part" arrangement Tsuki has to deal with.

Resigning yourself to your fate, you produce a kunai from your pouch. In a swift motion, you drag it across your thumb, leaving a shallow cut.It stings, but you’ve experienced worse.Writing your name would take far too much blood- so instead you make the mark of the Norihime corporation upon the indicated area, hoping that will suffice. You present the completed contract to the the matriarch, who inspects in turn. She sets down her pipe, and using her front teeth, bits the tip of her paw, making a symbol in turn. Your body begins to tingle- and you begin to glow.“The contract is sealed, Tsuki Norihime.”The glow fades, and the tingling dissipates. You should have a summoning symbol somewhere on your body… but where is it? Hinata’s was on her left arm...You notice a black shape peering out from under your uniform, so you pull it down slightly, exposing your collarbone.Across it lay an intricate triple moon design- all black, as if tattoo’d upon your flesh. But… did it need to be there? You groan. A simple mark upon your arm would’ve been easier…. and less questionable. “That mark is the sign of our contract. Applying your blood to it will allow you to use the summoning technique at your leisure.” Grandmother explains.“....right. So, how should we go about this? Getting you all to the world below, I mean. There are still so many of you.” You say, trying to get back to the matter at hand.“Now that we are bound together, we are linked. Come- allow me to assist you in opening the portal. I know the location of every one of my children and grandchildren- even that scamp Shigure. If I’m correct, it should allow every single one of us to pass through.”If, she says.Ugh.“Alright. Be careful, it’s a pretty intensive process- I passed out the first time I used it, and I was only able to get halfway.” You warn.“Don’t underestimate me so, Tsuki. I may not look it, but as a Sage I am the most powerful of my kin- and my specialty is in chakra and spiritual manipulation. This may be a tool of the Goddess- but I am confident together we can use it properly.” Grandmother says calmly."Now child, come hither. The longer we wait, the more time we give to Hamrua's scion to interrupt us.

As you walk forward, the Matriarch calls out to her children, in a obviously enhanced by some ability to ring out loud and clear to all of her family.“My children, our savior has arrived, by the grace of the our Goddess, Kaguya! We shall soon be free from our exile, and free to live amongst the world below once more! Please, prepare yourselves- we shall begin the process shortly. Many of your things will likely be lost- but fear not! By sacrificing these material possessions, we shall be granted our freedom at long last!”She sounds like some of the monks you visited with father once- the kind who tried to convince him to give up his fortunes and live among them to achieve enlightenment. He ended up buying the temple and converting it into a warehouse- which, until this point has been your only real experience with religion. She’s definitely passionate, if nothing else. Many of the rabbits rush out to organize themselves- but they stay clear of both you and Grandmother. “While we wait, please take a seat.” She says, indicating to a cushion in front of her.“We will meditate, and focus our chakra. That way, this whole transportation will go smoothly. I’ll provide a majority of the chakra for the initiation of the technique- this will allow me to cast my net wide. I’ll need you to take over once we have gone through, to direct us to the world below. Alright?” Grandmother instructs.“A sound plan. It shouldn’t take nearly as much chakra to open another portal once inside- just make sure nobody gets antsy or tries to wander off. If somebody gets lost inside the space between the portals… I’m not sure if we could find them.” You explain.“I’ll warn them all before we start. For now, focus on your meditation.” She responds.Nodding, you try to clear your mind. It’s rather difficult, but you’ve gotten rather good at it over the last few months.Relaxing, you begin practicing your breathing exercises. Just focus on resting and recovering your strength…..

Your meditation, though brief, does help energize you- you should have enough chakra left to navigate yourself and the rabbits back to Konoha. Since you’re going to a place you are aware of, hopefully you have some control over where you end up….While you consider this, the Matriarch makes another proclamation.“My children, be warned- this trip will not be easy. You may be confused or disoriented- but please, do your best not to panic. We shall be crossing the threshold, and our savior has explained that the trip may not be overly pleasant. However, there will be a guiding light- please focus on following that light.”At least she took your warning seriously.“Alright Tsuki, let us begin. You said we simply need to focus our chakra into the egg, correct?” Grandmother asks.“Yes- once you’ve opened the correct amount of portals, we’ll be sucked inside. Once there, I will be able to open another to the world below- thought I may need your help to maintain it.” You explain.“Of course. Together, we shall save my people. I cannot thank you enough, Tsuki.” She says earnestly- which you hadn’t quite expected.“O-of course. I made a deal with Kaguya, and intend to keep it.” You reply.“Yes- I look forward to you being able to communicate the will of our goddess to us. It’s been so very long without her guidance…”...Did you just become Kaguya’s prophet….?No- now isn’t the time think about such things.Taking the egg in both hands, you extend it outwards so the Grandmother can reach it. You can feel her chakra flare- it’s massive. It could easily be on par with one of the Tailed Beasts…Is this the power of a Sage?“It begins, my children! Our salvation! Prepare yourselves!” Grandmother announces. You trickle in your own chakra into the egg- and it begins to glow, like before. As soon as the Matriarch touches it, however- it rapidly turns into a miniature sun.“Here it comes- hold on!” You shout. The light goes dark- and the same oppressive feeling of vertigo rushes over you.The temperature drops- and you hear the words.....Y̶̨̟̻̻̙̠̮̠̪̩͖͕̥̬̝̽̋̏̓̓̃͋̀̕͠O̳̺͓̭͈̩ͨͫͦ̉͗ͫ̿̿̀͌́͗͋̾̎͘͟͢M̷̨̫̫̘͍͕̪̫̣͕̦̞͎̜͍͕͚̟͔ͨ̔́̉͋͑ͬ̀Ò͙̞̜͉͓̻͉̹̟̤͖̼̘̟͉̮̄͊͂́ͧͩͬ̒̍̈̚͘͢T̵̢̧̬͚̹͇̤̣͈̪̜̖̗̼͙̊ͫ͆̎͌ͣͮ͐̑͢͟S͖͈̜̣͚̒ͧ̋̀͊̓̀̚͡͡U̷̧̮̪̫̠̼͇̝̬̜̼̥͉̦̝̖̿̀ͪͨ̄̈̎͐̎͒ͫ̆̚͡ ̢̞̙̯̯͕̤͙̬͕̺̬̯̗̲̗̫̤̖͉͂̀͌ͯ͘͘H̛͖̬̺̖͎̹̤͍͖̮̤̟͋̿̆̀̋͐͐͊ͬ̍ͪ͆͟͝I̙̼̘̘͉̬̳̲̯̫̖̹̭̩̜͖̩̎̋̏̽͑ͣ̑́͜Ȑ͍̪͖͍̤͋ͪ̈̂̀͝ͅA̛̳̘͎̱̰̬͊̐ͫ́͒̎ͦ̿̄́́͘ͅS̶̯͕͈̝͙̲̟̜͎̺̱͇̦͍̖̝̿̈̂́͂͊̃̊͌̆̋̃̌͜͢ͅḀ̶̛̝̻͓͔̩̖̫̠͖͉̙̺̩̖̳͓͈̽ͮͯ̿͆̀̕K̶̢̰̗̝͈̤͇̯̼͙͎̘͂ͣ͐̌̀ͮͭ̏̊ͬ͛͒͟ͅḀ̴̲͓̜̯̗̩̦̼̭͉̲̥͍̎ͩ̿͐̊ͦ͂̐ͯ̂͛̕͞͞

following in moms footsteps
Just caught up and really enjoying things. I quite like how we've gone in a much different direction than most naruto quests seem to go. Not sure if I like the bunnies, seems like it might have some massively bad consequences, but saving them seems like the right thing to do.
>>1107734That was my thought process as well, I would've preferred one of the Beasts, but that's life.
>>1109192Yeah I would have enjoyed Tiger maybe. But I wasn't for SLAUGHTER THE RABBITS.
