A lone Eyegore drifts in silence as it orbits an unnamed world in a distant system. The world below it was lush with vegetation and teeming with game. The Reconstructed satellite could detect no native intelligent species, the planet a pristine environment nearly untouched by civilized hands. Below it the living fight, breed, and die in the most basic of all struggles that every living being experiences, the struggle for survival. Large megafauna stride across flat grassy plains or graze on colossal trees, the oceans hiding creatures that rise up and breach the surface in either joy or desperation, even the snowy peaks of mountain ranges home to cannibalistic flying animals.Yet the planet was not completely devoid of colonists, unwilling as they are. Small huts cluster in the boughs of the massive trees built from branches and plantlife crudely woven together. Beings flit from hut to hut or descend to the rivers and lakes in attempts to fish and hunt using spears held in their zygodactyl feet, feathered wings allowing the slender creatures to fly gracefully through the air. The huts were painted with colorful mud and sap, crude decorations revolving around the Sun and Stars, effigies of their lost kin and gods. This planet was home to more than just the Flier Sunscale that the Armada's Blackscale Cabal had deposited on the world. Generations of the Sunscale caste seemed to have lived on the world, the greenscaled and winged lizardfolk living in peace and harmony with their alien home. The Eyegore watched as the nervous new arrivals were greeted joyfully by their distant cousins and as time passed saw them grow to accept their new home even as they looked up at the skies at night as if hoping to see the Mother or the Father. The Eyegore took a pleasure in observing the simple lizardfolk, a caste that seemed unfitting for the warlike Sunscale, living their lives as best they could without the help of their smarter and stronger kin. Yet when flying predators swooped in low the colony gathered together, shrieking and harassing the attackers with claws, fangs, nets and spears until they were driven off showing they were not completely defenseless on this primal world. You wonder just how long this world has been used as a dumping ground for the Blackscale Cabals to deposit the Fliers, the only caste of their orthodox kin they refused to harm or reanimate. Among their small villages scattered around the dense jungles and forests the Eyegore could detect the remains of engines of indeterminate purpose, their hulks rusted and fallen to disrepair, and see Fliers using manufactured tools that fit their unique handfeet perfectly. Despite the casual cruelty and sadism of the Blackscale it was quite apparent they still seemed to care about the Flier caste.

It uses the mass of bone-chains for locomotion, sometimes slithering across the ground or using them like a multitude of legs to leap or crawl, each bone-chain ending in a series of blades or hooks. Able to compress itself down it is able to crawl through tight spaces such as duct work or ventilation of ships. In battle it launches itself into a flurry of flailing and slashing limbs attempting to overwhelm its target under a merciless barrage. Can be used for battlefield surgery if desperate.Coral Biomass Farm: Created by tampering slightly with the dietary needs of the rapid-reproducing microorganisms they can grow exponentially. The farms allow the production of biomass on aquatic worlds, requiring only a source of ocean water that is either built above ground with the water piped to it or constructed underwater in sealed off domes and tended to by amphibious Reconstructed.

>>1073803There was a time of momentary calm on Kanda as the opposing sides hunkered down and prepared for a siege. A blockade of Armada ships drift in orbit over the world, their shadows crossing across the barren plains scorched and ravaged by war. Osjiic forces in their factory-cities wait for the inevitable attack, the occasional bombardment launched from Crawlers or Battletombs raining down upon them. Drakes, Nails, and Gunships run patrols in the skies taking down any fighters or desperate shuttles attempting to flee the planet. Intercepted communications reveal that the Osjiic forces, despite their staggering losses, were still determined to fight as long as they could despite the lack of reinforcements from the Empire.Muic had been hard at work, creating bulwarks and trenches out of the earth and stone for the Armada ground bases, but she found the work satisfying after being inactive for so long before the invasion. Leveled fields act as landing zones for carriers, dropships and corvettes to transport supplies and fresh troops to the surface. A cavern had been excavated by Devastators and the shells of Cauldrons being built in the darkness to help fuel the war-effort, piles of Osjiic and Reconstructed corpses waiting to be processed along with mountains of scrap and ruined vehicles.Eiton had kept the two anti-orbital guns safe, squads of Disciple Voidknights stationed in each should the Osjiic attempt to reclaim them once more. The forces that had been attempting to do so before Jareth routed the Osjiic armies still on the plains surrounding their cities had been cut-off and overwhelmed by the tide of undead, many of them fighting to the death while others were subdued and captured. Small prison camps dotted the Armada bases, Osjiic troopers awaiting their turn to be ferried off-world to a new system. Many tried to fight back and escape but their wardens were dutiful in preventing their escape, Domination Shards reducing many to piles of twitching and retching bodies. The B'Nan system was well underway of becoming a conquered territory, Armada ships lead by Agona running patrols through it. She wished she was on the ground with her sister Punisher but she dutifully kept her eyeless gaze upon the system to prevent those that would interfere or invade.Eyegore systems let out the occasional alarm as probes and scout ships were sent into the system and Armada forces rapidly deploy to intercept.Roll me 1d100 best of first three for dealing with the probes and scouts

Many are intercepted and shot down but several manage to escape the system and their destruction once more.Agona was annoyed as she relayed the information to Valresko but he just simply waved off the concern quoting a saying he had heard when he watched in on the Pirate talks with the Harbinger, "Spies and rumors are harder to contain than a plague."His only warning is that the probes and ships were not just Osjiic. The Eyegores detected the energy signatures of void-drives, skip drives and even warp engines. Nails investigating the wrecks confirm that among the Osjiic probes there were also Ahkam and Confederate spycraft that came to observe.>Osjiic, Ahkam, and Confederate probes and spies continue to appear in the B'Nan system observing the invasion but Armada forces are dutifully hunting them down when they appear
Guess we wont be using any of our cool tricks right now. We should also minimize our usage of generals.
>>1074006You know what, this is acceptable. Our invasion of B'Nan was always going to be our big formal introduction to the instellar community, in the way only Jadyk could introduce himself.
>>1074006Well shitCan we have the deep rot hack into these drones and fuck there shit up?
>>1074089Even if he could, they would get info soon anyway. Plus the Deep Rot is one of out trump cards:even if all of our generals and Jadyk are away, our home system's defenses can still be operated.
>>1074006Speaking of spies, I think we should start thinking about beginning espionage efforts against our enemies. The ideal sort of agent for this sort of job would be some kind of body jacker that can infiltrate the very minds of those they compromise, like the parasites of HQQ. An agent capable of acting independently behind enemy lines by puppetering individuals to get what we need. I think you can guess what I'm suggesting at here.
>>1074006Jor sat in a hovering chair as he looked over an array of screens briefing him on events he had not been able to participate in as he dealt with and recovered from the trial. His left hand flicks the holo-screens away when he was done, nodding in satisfaction as he watched clips of the invasion. A flicker of jealous went through him as he watched the Harbinger speaking to the Pirate Clans but he knew that he couldn't have done better than Jadyk himself. He blinked in surprise when the demi-Think Tank said that someone was attempted to communicate.A holographic bust of the Voidsinger Commander flickers to life before him and the Osjiic bows his head respectfully, "Hello, Jor. I hear your trial was a success, although it looks like you cut yourself shaving," the Osjiic says in a friendly joking manner about the Necromancers injured and post-overdose state. The human grins and laughs, "Yeah, shaving," he lifts up the stump of his arm, only waiting for his replacement limb to finish being Reconstructed, "By the way, don't let a Reconstructed handle such delicate manners. How are you, my friend?" There was a time not long ago, before the time of ancient undead and living myths, that he would've laughed at anyone that would suggest one of his closest confidants would be an Osjiic."Very well. I am sure you've been caught up on the Kanda invasion?" he asked and Jor noticed that the Voidsinger was armored for battle."Of course. It's all the Deep Rot is thinking or talking about," he says and leans back in the chair."Still strange that you can hear it in your head like that," the Commander says with a shrug, "The Legion is departing to assist with the siege of the cities in whatever way we can. Dominator Valresko's plans have so far outwitted the Empire and Ahkam and I'm confident he will make good use of the Legion," there was a sound of another voice distorted off screen and the Commander looks over and nods then back to Jor, "I just wished to see that you were well before I went into battle, First Necromancer. I look forward to meeting you again in Iti'a'Ropku," the void-touched alien says with a salute, fist thumping against his armored chest.Jor lifted his stump to return the gesture only to laugh slightly and use his left hand, "Good luck, Commander. To Death and through it to Eternity. May the Wormstar and the Black Flame guide your hand," he says in old Wormtongue and the image flickers out.

>>1074648On the bustling world of Veraga Prime, the cities never slept. There was always some kind of industry or work being done even in the darkest hours. Buddy Eigha, and Clud discovered this as they stood in a dim room of some warehouse near the docking pylon the Wick was stationed at. Before them sat a pair of Netu at a table that held several bundles of both kelp products they'd brought to the busy Confederate world. One of them held the stem of a long pipe and inhaled the smoke of the narcotikelp through one spiracle at the base of their neck and lets it issue like a jet of steam from the other, nodding in satisfaction at the tingling buzz that started to creep through them. The other was silently eating a bowl of diced Drop Kelp mixed into some kind of soup mixed with some unknown meat, nodding as well. The smoking netu offers the pipe to the other who shakes their head and continues their silent meal.Buddy glances at his companions and the Cartel goons standing in the corners of the room, their own Necrolyte protectors forced to wait outside, then back to the pair. He tried to smile but his nervousness was plain on his face, "So I take it you like the supply?" he asked and his smile faded in the silence. Finally Clud spoke up, speaking the language of the netu clans, "As you can see, our products are of quality. Our benefactor is ready to begin immediate shipping of both whenever you get the results back from the streets," he looks at the one finishing up their meal, "Just between us the Drop Kelp has been developed using stolen Armatocere techniques and if given time it could even rake in profits greater than the Narcotikelp with just the revenue gained through more...legal means."The other two glance at him in disapproval for letting the connection to the Armatocere be known, even though the kelp truly was unique to Horizon's Drop without Armatocere tampering but the two Netu glance at each outher then lean forward, pushing the empty bowl aside, "Quite a boast indeed," they motion to the packages on the table, "Your products are indeed impressive. Our techboys studied both and beyond a little bit of entropic taint in the narcotikelp, it's lower than what you find in Lessek Dust or Dreamshit, we see nothing in it that would kill our customers. The Drop Kelp is quite delicious and surprisingly nutritious as well," they lean back in their chair and look at the three before them. The other Netu speaks between puffing on the slender pipe, "The Wraithborn Cartel welcomes your business. We've already got initial reports in from the dens and markets we've distributed the supply to and both are selling well. Drugs always sell well but the Drop Kelp was a surprise. As of now we only have our one ship to smuggle it in but I'm sure-"The smoking netu holds up a hand to cut him off, "Upon your return with the next shipment the Cartel will provide assistance in that regard. Either we will get you more ships or a larger one," they take a long draw from the pipe then continue, "In time we may even be able to get you a trade route to bring in the kelps, smuggling the narcotikelp among the Drop. You made a wise decision to seek out the Wraithborn. With out help these crops will spread to other worlds and systems and we will all be very, very wealthy," they draw out the word with obvious pleasure.Buddy makes to speak again but the other netu waves and cuts him off, "You can go now. Give the rest of your supply to us and then you can return to whereever it is you grow this stuff."The three of them give short bows and are then lead out of the room and warehouse. Climbing into an airspeeder they'd purchased they begin to head back to the docking pylon and their ship. Buddy lets out a laugh and looks at the others, "That went as well as hoped."Eigha nods but looks at Clud, "I certainly hope that crack about the Armatocere tampering won't come back to bite us, Clud. Can you imagine how Jadyk will react?"The netu shrugged and started to speak but Jadyk's voice emanating from the demi-Think Tank that was never far from them cuts him off, making him jump in surprise, "I think that went rather well. Good job, you three. Return home, a new batch is awaiting you. You have made me proud," you say before turning your attention away from them and the reconstructed drone goes silent.Eigha sighs and rubs a hand across her face, "I hate when he does that..."

Laran gives a small yelp of surprise and jumps back from where she'd been trying to see if the Harbinger was still active. She lets out a nervous laugh and smooths the loose clothing she wore that was quite similar to the uniforms worn by pirates on their ships, the loose fabric tight around neck, wrist and ankle to keep the clothing from drifting in the low gravity of space travel. You nod to the human in greeting and she gives a bow in return before speaking, "Sorry about that, I wasn't sure if you were...there. They finished their deliberations and are ready to speak to you again.""Of course," you say simply and follow her back to the large audience hall. The crowd had returned and they go mostly silent as you drift into the room and regain your spot floating over the small fighting pit at the center. The Captains and Lords were once more standing on the platform and Dagger Lord Erex leans forward, "I hope we did not keep you waiting too long, Harbinger. Or is it Jadyk?" they ask casually"It is Jadyk that speaks to you now. Have you decided to accept or refuse my offer?" you ask simply in return making Erex give a small laugh.Shield Lord Travana places a hand on Captain Gilken to hold them back from speaking and steps forward, "We three Clans have heard the offer you have placed before us and debated it. One thing you must understand, Lord Jadyk. Our Clans are not ruled by us Lords or Captains. We are merely the figureheads of our people. We are not dictators or kings. Our people and our way of life is democratic. After your speech we asked our kin and crew for their vote and they voted," they lift a hand out to motion to the silent crowd gathered above them, "By the voices of these three clans, we accept your offer. The Shield, Dagger, and Spear clans will come to your world to see it for ourselves," they glance at the surly kesh, "We will see if your claims of having no slaves is true.">cont

When the Armatocere gave us this technology it was with the intent that all peoples can someday live free of the fear of Wraith attacks," there was a murmuring in the crowd at the news the technology originated from the Armatocere, "Send your ships to Horizon's Drop and we will give you what you need."Captain Troma is the next to speak, "Will you abide by the slave-debt and allow those Daggers you've captured to return to us when their time is complete?"You gesture to the crowd of pirates you had already released from their debt, "I have already demonstrated as much. If you so wish, when you come to my home you can ask those living there if returning home early is what they wish. I respect the slave-debt and it's rules but I am no tyrant," you look up to the captains and lords, "So it is decided. The Pirate Clans and their people will be safe while within New Necrotic Armada territory. I, Lich-Lord Jadyk, swear by the fires of the Wormstar and the hearts of my people that the Clans have my personal support and friendship for as long as you accept it and do not bring conflict or war to me or my people."The three clan lords look to each other before the three netu give respectful bows, mimicked shortly after by their captains, "We of the Clans, descendants of the Ravenings survivors, accept," the lords say together. Captain Gilken seems reluctant at first but eventually gives a short curt bow.>The Dagger, Spear, and Shield Clans have accepted Jadyk's offer of peace>They will begin to visit Horizon's Drop to bring trade and witness the way of life you have built for the living>The Armada pledges to offer sanctuary and protection to the Clans while they are within Armada territory

>>1075258It's interesting that the delegation specified that the clans are actually leaderless and they hold no official capacity to order them about. It wouldn't surprise me if Gilken and other pirates are planning on using this loophole to attempt secretive raids on us for intel and ships. Not that this is necessarily a big problem for us and our diplomatic efforts. We can afford to lose the odd ship if we catch and 'recruit' most of those stupid enough to try and ambush a faction whose ships are all telepathically connected. Besides, this capability to legally raid factions the pirates have agreements with is one of the main reasons I've always wanted to ally with them. >>1075258Night began to fall over Kanda, the sky illuminated only by the occasional streak of a missile or kinetic round being traded between the cities and the Armada forces. Stealth cloaked Coffins silently and very slowly descend from high altitudes into the cities, those living aboard nervously glancing around or holding their breath while the undead stand silently around them.Nekris looks to the Necrolyte officer he stood with, an Osjiic woman who was once a shieldbearer on Estkri's ship and witness to the duel she had fought with Jadyk and Lorgul so long ago, "Nervous?" he asks softly while gently flexing the claws of his new hands. The Osjiic gave a small start and looked at the undead general. She gives a short nod, "Didn't think I'd ever come back to an Imperial planet, let alone as a saboteur," she lets out a short laugh and shrugs, the heavy shield taken from a dead soldier strapped to her arm, "But it is my duty and honor to serve the Legion and Armada."Nekris tilts his head in an almost avian manner, "You do not have to lie to keep face. I hold no judgement, knowing your people have been forced into this."Her laugh was louder this time, drawing the attention of the other Necrolytes with them, "Why would I lie? Even before I became a Necrolyte I knew the Empire was broken and stagnant. That I would only ever be a soldier. The Empire knows only war. With the Armada and Legion, I have found a new purpose and it is one I chose. I would follow the Commander and my new allies to Death and beyond it.""To Eternity," Nekris says, completing the phrase in a quiet voice. The Osjiic nods, "To Death and beyond it to Eternity, yes. Heh, that's good. I'll have to tell the other Legionnaires that." Nekris just nods in return as they draw nearer to the rooftops below. He wondered just how many of the living that slept under the Dreamstone obelisks were beginning to remember phrases and images from a time before the resurrection of the Armada.Pushing the thoughts aside he orders those gathered to prepare. Osjiic soldiers wearing jump-packs awaited by the cargo bay doors, those dressed as slaves letting the amorphous Looms wrap their limbs around them like strange organic backpacks. Gargoyles let go of the sides of the Coffins and drift down to the city below and after a few moments they send all clear signals and the Coffin doors slide open.In the deepening darkness of dusk the undead and living saboteurs jump or drop from the Coffins, seeming to appear out of thin air as they pass through the cloak fields to fall a short distance to rooftops or back alleys. The undead's mimetic flesh ripple with waves of dark colors, their forms difficult to discern even for the living that knew they were there. Taking a moment to gather and orient themselves the departed into the cities while the Coffins find quiet corners to park themselves and wait.>cont
>>1075636As the living and undead moved through the cities Devastators toil, carving out tunnels leading from their bases toward the cities themselves. While not as effective at creating sturdy tunnels like the Entropic Excavators they were nonetheless able to quickly create passages that would allow the undead to emerge within the city proper. Yet as they neared the city limits they started to detect passages and clearings through the stone, likely mines and other underground facilities. The Predators and the Reconstructed stuck to the shadows and rooftops following their living charges. Those dressed as slaves guided and guarded by the Osjiic necrolytes. Several times they had to wait for platoons to rush by on some errand. Once an officer began berating the Osjiic after trying to get them to join their squad but the necrolyte officer that Nekris had spoken to managed to defuse the situation by saying they had orders from another commander that needed to be fulfilled. In time they began to spot larger groups of the slaves gathered together not working on tasks but they began to disperse as the Osjiic approached. They were mostly met with agreement but a sense of fatalistic resignation saying that if they tried to leave they would be killed anyways. At first they were met with resistance but as shelling from the Armada began to increase against the walls of the city, the rumbling booms echoing over the cities they began to listen more intently before their groups were dispersed by authentic Osjiic soldiers or the Necrolytes acting the part.Gargoyles and Shadows trail the slaves and watch as the words of escape and revolt began to spread like a disease. Nekris and Eiton both were impressed at how the Necrolytes set their words to action, talking of how the true strength of the cities were the slaves and that without them Kanda was worthless to the Osjiic. There were murmurs among the indentured that this could be their first true chance at freedom, many of them saying that this attacker was certainly a better option than staying the property of the Osjiic even though they knew almost nothing about the nature of the invaders. Stories told by the Necrolytes speak of how these new invaders had launched into battle against both the Osjiic and Ahkam fleets, driving the serpents out of the system and pushing the Osjiic all the way back to Kanda and then even further, taking control of the anti-orbital guns and making them go silent when they had fired almost non-stop since the Ahkam invasion. As the Necrolytes worked Eiton and Nekris observed the cities, each marking down targets for sabotage, bombardment, or assault. Void reactors became a priority along with barracks and command centers. Shadows and Looms started to spread through the city under the watchful gazes of the Gargoyles flying above or hidden among the buildings. >>1076110Alarms and klaxons started to blare out their alarms as a pair of Battleships descends through the sky, their bellies glowing with reentry in the evening darkness but they halt their descent above the the factory cities. A rumble of thunderous sound erupts from the massive ships and Valresko's voice booms outAttention soldiers and slaves of the Osjiic Empire-State. We have come to claim this world and system as our own in retaliation for the crimes the Osjiic Emperor and his soldiers have committed against the people of this sector. Your fleets are shattered and captured, your armies routed and broken. The Ahkam wisely fled when they can after Vle'Karak the Terror of a dozen star systems fell at our hands. Surrender is your own true hope of survival. Continue to resist and death will come swiftly for all who oppose us. Turn free your slaves, lay down your weapons, leave your cities and you will be shown mercy. If you ignore this warning you shall learn what fear and despair truly is. You have an hour to comply. The city erupts into chaos then, soldiers running frantically to and fro, slaves beginning to gather in clusters and speak rapidly among themselves before being dispersed by squads of Osjiic with shields and stun-maces but the words of dissent began to spread. Necrolytes started to suggest open revolt, their words no longer shot down but encouraged.Nekris stood at the top of a building looking down at the city as he opened himself up to the chorus of fear and panic that welled up threatening to buck the control that the Osjiic desperately tried to maintain. He spread his arms out, feeling as if he was being buoyed up by the roiling emotions of the living below him.Eiton sat on the edge of a building, gently petting the spine of a Gargoyle curled up on his lap as he patiently waited for his time to act. Despite his calm exterior he was buzzing with excitement, Arc light flickering faintly in his large singular eye.Chaos was coming to Kanda, the Predators and loyal Necrolyte Legionnaires sowing the seeds of rebellion among those enslaved.

>>1076119"Hey! That hurt!" Jor grunted indignantly as the medical Reconstructed adjusts the connection of his new arm and his nerves. The large eye of the Reconstructed glances at his face for a moment then turned impassively back to attaching the limb.Jor sighed as he lay in the medical chair once more, a demi-Think Tank projecting several screens for him. One showed events on Kanda and he had to admit he was agreeing with Jadyk's decision to put Valresko in charge of the invasion, the title of Dominator befitting the Solar-Necrotic paradox. The other showed footage of a duel in Iti'a'Ropku's colosseum where a netu fought with an epikor, each using stun-maces and hardlight shields to settle some dispute he didn't bother to pay attention to.The screens suddenly flicker out and he was about to shout at the construct when your image appears before him instead. He blinks in surprise and bows his head, "Lord Jadyk," he says in greeting."Jor. Enjoying the show that the Armada is putting on in Kanda?" you ask casually"Definitely entertaining. Valresko and the others are certainly living up to your expectations," he lets out a laugh when he realized the small joke he'd accidentally set up but hisses in pain as the medical construct finishes the final attachments of his new arm, completing the seal between reconstructed bone and human flesh with a strip of cloned skin to keep it free of infection until the limb joined completely.Jor sits up and experimentally tests out his new arm, slowly lifting it and extending it then flexing the articulate fingers. It was a fine piece of design and craftmanship, the Necromancer siblings designing the limb to function just as a humans would, five fingered with retractable talons. It would easily be hidden under the sleeves of his armored robes and glove for when he had to appear at least mostly human when he went out as the Ambassador of the Armada once more. Yet it was more than just a simple prosthetic, the forearm hiding a sting whip and a hardlight shield projector much like the one he had in his armor before."It is quite befitting for you Jor," you say and he looks up from testing out the retractable claws, "I'll make sure to give my compliments to the Siblings. How are you feeling?"Jor rolls his shoulder with the new arm, testing its weight as he stood from the table. He was bare to the waist and you could tell he was quickly recovering from his trial, his flesh regaining is rich dark color from the sickly ashy gray it had only the day before, the burst vessels around his eyes healing slowly but there would always be intense scars around them.He nods slowly and stretches both arms out with a small grunt, "A lot better. Thank you Lord Jadyk. I'll have to thank them as well," he looked to the Medical Reconstructed that cleaned up the remains of the reattachment surgery, "Thank you too," he says with grin and the construct just glances his way and continues its work. Jor laughs.>cont
>>1076442He turns to your image, "How goes the talks with the Pirates?" he asks as a Talon approaches carrying a new set of armor and clothing for the man.You nod and a screen goes up, showing how the ship that carried the Harbinger was making ready to leave the Pequann and the Myrshyn system but it was not alone, flanked by two Clanships and a collection of smaller sub-capitols of various make prepping to follow the Necrotic ship. Jor lifts his eyebrows in surprise as he pulls a shirt over his head, quickly growing used to his replacement arm, "That well huh?"Laughing your image nods, "They are coming to see Iti'a'Ropku for themselves. Those Daggers we sent back were quite helpful in convincing them of our good intentions. Captain Troma actually asked if you would be there and I said quite possibly if you're feeling up to dealing with them. Sapling Slrrt also was asking about your well-being," you pause then continue, "Many people were actually asking about you. I can hear your name spoken across the city, from the Stonestar below to the ructu to the Legionnaires still in the city. I am actually quite impressed Jor."He looks at your image incredulously as the Talon helps buckle his armor to his chest, "Over?" he asked suspiciously."I remember, not long ago, how you felt despised by the colonists of Horizon's Drop. How you huddled in fear as Talons watched over you," he grimaces at the memories but you continue, "I have seen you grow from a timid mine operator to one of my most trusted underlings. The New Necrotic Armada would not be what it is today without your help and for that I am eternally grateful beyond what I feel for your help setting me free. It is through your influence and actions that the living trust me."Jor watches your image at a loss for words so you continue, "That is why I have come to the decision that should I ever truly fall and meet my true death, that leadership of the Armada will fall to you," you get a small sense of cruel enjoyment at how he paled at the news, "You have proven yourself capable but fear not, you would not be alone. The Deep Rot knows to trust you more anyone in the Armada, the Think Tanks loyal to you. You will guide the Armada alongside the first of my Orders, Lorgul, Nekris, Agona, Valresko and your friend the Voidsinger Commander. I have complete faith in you, Jor."He stood there in shocked silence before he moved to kneel before you, bowing his head. He struggled for words for a moment, then in old Wormtongue says, "I am honored by your faith in me, Lord Jadyk. I swear I will do my best to uphold and protect the Armada. By the fires of the Wormstar and power Necrotic I swear my life to you, to Death and through it to Eternity."Jor stands before you once more and you nod, "Fear not, my friend. I have no intention of ever meeting my true death. You are not free of me just yet," you say with a laugh and he grins in return, "Return home soon. Your city awaits you."

>>1076445https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvdwIwa0W30Dissent has started to spread among the slave populations of the two Osjiic held factory-cities. The embers of anarchy being stoked by the skillful efforts of your loyal Necrolytes that may become full-blown fires of revolution. Weapon caches are being unloaded from the cloaked Coffins, the crates too conspicuous to be distributed to the slave population just yet but the Necrolytes spread word of areas where the others could find assistance and like-minded revolutionaries. Several groups of slaves have already attempted to flee from the cities but have never been able to escape beyond the city walls, either captured or gunned down. Each death as only served to increase the discontent by those forced to stay within the city limits. To everyone's surprise a small cluster of osjiic managed to escape from the city on a high speed hover transport. The fact it lacked weaponry and was open-air was clear it was not a military vehicle. When they managed to make it past the no-mans land avoiding the weaponsfire of their own city to the Armada fortifications it was discovered that the eleven osjiic were not soldiers but rather engineers and weapons designers. A brief interrogation assisted with pheromne influence revealed they were actually prisoners of the Empire, former loyalists to the current Emperors opponent in his bid for the throne. They were forced to escape after the Valresko's proclamation when the high command of the city ordered them executed. They only survived because they turned prototype weapons on their would-be executioners and came to the Armada out of a slim hope of survival.Devastators continue to burrow their way to the cities underground but the earth is honeycombed with mines and tunnels of the Osjiics design. It is unknown what awaits the Reconstructed down in the dark but the tunnels would be a valuable asset in taking the cities.Ships moved into position in the outer atmosphere, their spinal cannons aiming for the walls of the city as the timer counted down. Reconstructed on the ground grew tense, their crude voices croaking out in massed chants, simple versions of the Wormstar hymns that the Choirs of Horizon's Drop sang, stamping their feet, weapons and shields against the ground. The sound carried out across the plains and the unfortunate wound Osjiic left behind to die slowly in the trenches shudder from more than just the chill of blood-loss, fear running rampant through them. The Necrolyte Legionnaires made last second preparations, checking their armors and ammo. Pilot Necrolytes lift themselves up into the cockpits of the Heavy Exosuits, the wearable Reconstructed coming to life as they linked. They stood and took several steps forward, the ground cracking under their clawed feet while they checked weapons and spoke with the artificial mind of the armored exosuit.>cont
>>1076659The Necrolyte Commander kneels in a small tent among the row that had been set up for the Necrolytes, the intricately carved shard of Jadyk's armor that had once been embedded in his flesh held tight in his hand. He meditated in something like prayer, voidlight rippling across his body. His armored chest plate was flipped open to reveal the large core of void-flame the sat like a gruesome heart behind his exposed ribcage, the flame pulsing where it had replaced much of his upper body that continued to exist in some bizarre fashion.Voidsingers were the Quasidead, not quite like Necromancers that lived through the power Necrotic, their bodies warping in time to suit the bizarre needs of the energy. Their power consumed them, slowly and mercilessly, their life both fuel to and fueled by the Voidflame stolen from Ghuls corpse. This was the fate of every nameless Voidsinger, their body reduced to ash and bone and flame, the forces of gravity and pressure a mighty gift for steep a price. Some escaped total incineration, granted full undead to become a Deathshead Guardian and granted a name. The Commander hoped to escape his fate some other way and he knew the Legion and the Armada where his only chance. He had been a tool for the Osjiic Empire for his whole life, selected from childhood after it discovered he was a natural fit as the Voidflames host. He had resigned himself to his apathetic death, knowing he would never become a Deathshead while serving in a scout fleet, the honor of battle denied him. Then he had been wrenched from that fate by Jadyk. At first forced to serve the undead he had taken to obeying him out of an apathetic depression. Yet as he spent more time with the growing Armada, watching how it grew and began to change, eventually learning to see Jor as a friend in time, he began to find hope again. With the Armada he knew he finally had a chance. A chance to take his fate into his own hands and shape it with the Armada's help. Even after the domination shard fell free of his flesh he served loyally. For once he began to find a faith, a faith in the might of Jadyk, of the Armada and the faith he held in the other prisoners that became his Legionnaires, siblings-in-arms fighting for a new empire he was helping build. Now was his chance to prove himself once more to Jadyk. To prove his worthiness to the Armada and his friends in the Legion. He would shape his own fate and bring glory to the Armada. He resealed his armor and made last checks of his own gear, tucking the shard away into a slot of his helm where he could keep it safe. He stepped out of his tent to join his officers and prepare for the upcoming battles.

>>1076961>>1078216now that SlowCM is back from china he's been helping me out with it.Slow is the same guy who created the Sunscale and let me use them as antagonists since the Civ they were in they HATED undeadAlso we'll continue with the thread...soonish
>>1078282Nice, I think I remember reading the sunscale civ that was the one with the infected reef being destroyed by human "ships" while they where becoming buddies with the orcs on their island right?Btw I assume the void singer commander is a head tale then Jor but how much wider is he across at the shoulders? I would assume he's twice Jors width or is it less/more
So If we assume for the sake of it that A full strength "Legion" Is 2000 Necrolytes, and the the voidsinger commander, Is directly in charge of the "1st Legion" How many more legions should we clone? should every legion we clone Be cloned from a single individual for that legion?. For instance, The second Legion being made up of clones of a distinguished Osijiic Necrolyte. the third humans, and so on until they start to mix.
>>1078469Or if we want to go historical in terms of legion size it would be 5000 men at full strength Which would be organized into ten Cohorts (500 men each)
>>1078469Cloning a legion wouldn't be very effective. What makes the Legion so great is its made of battle hardened soldiers who either have years of experience or,in a few cases, have just been thrown into the meat grinder and are surviving.Clones have no prior experience what so ever.It would be far better to use the biomass to make reconstructed because at least then they have the battle instinct and semi-hive mind that goes with it. Clones are only good in specific circumstances.
>>1078513With Implanted memories, We can make the clones pretty much whatever we want.
>>1078528Still,Implanted Memories are imperfect in regards to battlefield combat. It lacks the fined tuned instinct that experience gives.Yes they can still fire guns, enter cover and such, but for the most part they are cannon fodder.Reconstructed sound like a better use of our resources.
>>1078537>It lacks the fined tuned instinctLiterally where was this said, i mean specifically in what thread? also If i remember right a clone is actually cheaper than a talon, and really when one dies we can just turn it into a reconstructed anyway, so it is just an extra step
>>1078542>Literally where was this said, i mean specifically in what thread? Im speaking from precedent. The human brain(and thus other sapient organisms brains) are very complex things. The mind, in its most basic form, is stored in the synapses. When certain actions and thoughts are used more, more connections are made between them. When used less, connections are lost. We can recreate the brain an numerous synapse patterns, but it would likely take more time to produce something of equivalent value as a battle hardened soldier. Remember that our hero units were made from commanders themselves:we did not make them clever and cunning from nothing, we took what had already developed and molded it. Do do the same with a random grunt, let alone a pile of biomass, does not seem worth it,at least until we can guarantee results via testing and improving the procedure.
>>1078542Also we can imprint then with memories and then have the legion actually train then so that's gotta be a better bonus then say someone who has no memories or military training joining the legion
>>1078574So, You are trying to Use Science.. In a quest where the main character is a goddamn skeleton that can fire magic out of his ass? Also that is not the way clones work in setting,And as far as i am aware there is no precedent of successful human cloning because Ethics, Especially Implanting memories into said nonexistant clone
Okay so tday was busier than I thought it would be lolSo did anyone have any suggestions beyond >Artillery bombardment to weaken the walls>Drop pods rain down from above>Tunneling Devastators continue toward their mines>>1078347Sorta. They were friends with orcs they rescued from their stranded ship in a swamp with a giant anaconda (that actually was super intelligent and a gift from Mother and Father to the Sunscale) and they became friends. The Civ kinda puttered out when the Lizards were attempting to rescue an elephant trade-prince from demonic aligned orc ships that had guns and summoned demons.Humanity were cursed by the orc demongod so that when they die they become ghouls and one of their funeral barges that didn't get incinerated like planned washed up on the island.Humans used magitech and loved to experiment on hapless people

>>1079790Well I've got a few questions about ship design if you're up to answer them.
>>1080141Right then, would it be possible to construct small cauldron dedicated to constructing specific types of small craft on board a ship? I was thinking about about how we could use a combi-drive ship equipped with gravity sensors as an efficient scouting vessel, and having the capacity to build it's own eyegores on the fly would really enhance that. By leaving behind freshly made spy ships we could have it detect, explore, and leave systems or deep space objects in a very short time frame without having to stop observation. And on an entirely different matter, the fighter hangar adaptation still takes up a fixed weapon mount instead of a module slot, right? It's spot on the relevant pastebin makes that rather confusing.
>>1080290>fighter hangar adaptation still takes up a fixed weapon mount instead of a module slot, rightHuh, seems I forgot to update it and accidentally just deleted it. There are two, one that replaces a ships spinal mounted guns (the largest a ship can have) that allowed a capitol ship to launch fighters into combat quickly. Then there are these three which are modules.>Fighter Hangar (room for 6 Nail fighters or two Gunships, fighters and gunships not included) - A hangar designed to hold and service strike craft. Dedicated to repairing and supplying strike craft they are held in place by armatures until they are ready to launch. Docking with a hangar instantly resupplies missiles and ammo and repair armatures can repair most damage after a day. Cost: 100B 100M>Docking bay (room for 1 Coffin and 3 Nails, shuttle and fighters not included) - A hangar designed to hold and service shuttles and other small craft such as fighters and Eyegores within the safety of the ship's hull. The shuttle is granted space for the loading and unloading of cargo and drones, while the fighters are secured together and held by a set of armatures to save space. Cost: 100B 50M>Swarm hangar (50 fighters) – A hangar filled to the brim with dormant Swarmer Reconstructed, which are awoken and released when needed for combat. They are linked directly to the parent ship, and cannot function away from it. The swarmers themselves are each a cheap and disposable craft designed to pose a threat with sheer numbers, and can each be equipped with a single auxiliary weapon chosen when a ship is designed. Together, they can form complex maneuvers to intercept attacks with themselves, attack hostile targets, ram into targets and perform patrols in close proximity to the ship. When not in use they are kept in hibernation. Cost represents the cost of a single hangar bay and its associated swarm. Cost: 300B 150MThe total number of modules a ship can have is equal to 1 per 50 meters in size.Boarding pods are the ones that take up a fixed weapon mount and can only be fired once each time.I'm going to say that a ship based cauldron would not have the capability to make full fledged small craft like Nails or Eyegores. They can make replacement swarmer Reconstructed because of how simple they are. The rest is feasible though if you create and load up a carrier capitol ship with a Eyegores beforehand they could deploy them easily enough.

>>1081995https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcDUQf1Hg_kThe Osjiic knew the attacks would come but they knew they could do nothing to stop it. The voices of hundreds upon thousands of Reconstructed voices began to ring out across the plains surrounding the cities as the Reconstructed artillery ceased. Warchants and hymns that had not been heard for millennia were called out, unprotected airwaves carrying the grotesque words that sent chills through the soldiers hunkered down in their cities.Osjiic soldiers were raised from birth to be perfect soldiers, fearless and determined in battle, their whole way of life dedicated to fighting for their Empire. Yet as those rough voices instilled a primal dread in them that they fought to quell. Even the slaves within the cities, near panic and revolt, were driven to near desperation by the sounds that leaked unabated through their radios and sound systems. Several mobs began to form and Osjiic peacekeepers attempted to quell them with club and riot gas only to switch to live rounds as the crowds surged forward in their blind panic. And then, there was silence. The voices ceased and the cities inhabitants froze in bewilderment in the eerie calm. Yet the silence would not last as moments later the rumbling boom of artillery fire echoes across the dry plains and explosions blossomed along the tall walls surrounding the cities, illuminating the landscape with the combined fire. Artillery shells rained down on the city walls as lights glinted in the sky then became streaking pillars of fire as kinetic rounds were launched from orbit to smash and pulverize the city defenses. Weapon nests and barracks were reduced to blazing ruins as the targets selected by Eiton and Nekris were targeted.Tides of Reconstructed soldiers and vehicles charged across the no-mans land of trenches and scorched earth, their shouts and weaponsfire filling the air along with blaster and bulletfire. More objects glowed with the light of reentry as drop-pods fell from the heavens but the Osjiic were prepared. Turrets and anti-air weapons swivel and unleash their payloads, missiles and streams of bullets shooting down many of the drop pods before they could reach the cities but still some manage to break through. Heavy pods of metal and bone smash into city streets or rooftops and undead poured out from within. The Necrolytes within the cities proper began to shout out at the swarming mobs of slaves, directing them to where caches of Necrotic weaponry were stashed, smuggled in by stealth cloaked Coffins. Many of them did not even bother to ask where the weaponry came from or why they were so alien, shaped from chitin and metal. Instead they eagerly took the chance to secure their own freedom and lives and launched themselves into battle against their enslavers. Skirmishes broke out throughout the city, trained osjiic soldiers clashing with malnourished and weakend slaves but they were fueled by the fires of panic and freedom.>cont
>>1086438The fleets in orbit ready another salvo as they changed targets within the cities but as they aimed themselves a massive alarm swept through the fleet. Gravity sensors detected a large gravity well approaching at FTL speeds moments before an eruption of voidlight detonated in the midst of the orbital fleet. Chaos gripped the fleet as the Deep Rot and Valresko frantically tried to make sense of this new development revealing that an Osjiic fleet had emerged right in their midst in a nearly suicidal FTL exit over one of the cities. Several Osjiic ships emerged in the same space occupied by Armada ships and violent explosions rocked their neighbors as the conjoined ships obliterated themselves. The Osjiic ships launched their attacks as soon as they appeared, the fires of explosions and ripples of voidlight blossoming across the Armada fleet. Agona furiously directs her ships to retaliate, her Pyroclastic Destroyer unleashing its molten fury on a nearby battleship already melting through its shields and weaponmounts under her barrage. Osjiic ships above the city Nekris was in began to rain down their own drop pods, the light of their reentry streaking across the sky to land just outside of the city in the path of the Reconstructed onslaught.Devastators rumbled across the ground alongside Battletombs guarding the swarms of Reconstructed riding in armored Hearses toward the walls that were crumbling or broken in places. Drop pods open and Osjiic soldiers emerge, quickly using their jump-packs to reach the high ground or the trenches till intact. Troops from the city began to leap from the broken walls to help their reinforcements, fast attack vehicles racing forward from open gates. Larger drop pods fell and heavy tanks rumbled forward, unleashing their barrage against the approaching line of undead and trading fire with the Battletombs.Chariots raced forward, their mounted necrotic flayers stripping metal and flesh from their targets or launching clusters of explosive javelins. Osjiic troops riding in their own fast attack vehicles began to clash in high-speed duels with the chariots in the rapidly narrowing no-mans land, explosions and bulletfire filling the air.Battletombs and Devastators crash into the Osjiic lines quickly followed by the Hearses unleashing their deadly cargo. Void and Necrotic blasts illuminate the night alongside the fiery blasts of explosives, screams of the fighting and dying intermingling into a deafening cacophony of battle and bloodshed. Crawlers march resolutely forward, their massive backcannons launching kinetic rounds or devastating beams of necrotic energy that melts metal and flesh with equal ease. Brutes charge forward holding shields as large as tanks, their steps cracking the ground beneath them as they provide cover for the smaller undead swarming behind them.>cont
>>1086466From the sky more lights glowed as drop pods fell from orbit but as they rained down they seemed to explode from within and heavy objects emerged and slowed their landings with an array of thrusters. Landing in the middle of the charging Reconstructed lines these new defenders were unlike anything seen by the Armada so far.Humanoid mechs that stood taller than most Brutes stomped forward, the large barrel weapons that took the place of forelimbs began to unleash a barrage of weaponsfire across the surprised undead. Void-repeaters and chain-repeaters crackle with energy while rocket pods unfold from their shoulders and launch their payloads upward to fall down among the undead that began to charge toward them. These new juggernauts wrecked havoc on the undead line but Brutes and Necrolyte Legion Heavy Exosuits quickly make their way to engage these new foes. The Osjiic Empire has finally reacted to the invasion of Kanda and has sent reinforcements. The cities are in chaos as former slaves revolt, goaded by the machinations of the Necrolyte Legionnaires and undead swarm their walls. Devastators near every closer to the underground mines, their drills and ruin-sledges pulverizing the earth and stone. A fleet foolishly jumped out of FTL in the midst of the Necrotic blockade and now engages Agona's forces.Roll me 3d100 best of first three

>>1086475Valresko's mind stretches out across the Armada, guiding the Deep Rot and helping Agona as they react to the new threat of the support fleet. Armada ships react to these new attackers quickly, the void of space between their ships filling with fighters, missiles, and kinetic rounds. Void and Necrotic energy flash and illuminate the cold dark, shields of ships glowing brightly as they deflect or shatter incoming attacks on both sides until they flicker and fade, hulls starting to buckle and crack from the assaults.Still the Necrotic fleet outnumbered the Osjiic and under Agona's direction the blockade of Battleships converge on the interlopers, massive spinal guns launching Necrotically charged kinetic slugs the size of fighters from all sides. Yet the Osjiic fleet fights steadfastly, trading blows with those around them even as they must have realized their folly. From the surface great lances of void energy leap out, piercing the night sky and cutting through osjiic ships in orbit. Voidknight Disciples left in charge of the compounds obeying Valresko's command to turn the captured weapons against those that would retake this world.Boarding pods are launched, their drillbits boring through hulls then blossoming to unleash their undead cargo. Yet as they surged through the halls of the ships they found little in the way of defenses. In confusion they charge through, battering down bulwarks and destroying automated defenses until the break onto the bridge of a Destroyer. Instead of Osjiic soldiers they found a mix of different races, slaves of the Osjiic but unlike those currently fighting and dying below them on the planets surface these were modified, their bodies contorted with crude cybernetics. These were not the advanced zombified cyborgs of the Confederate military but a hasty and endlessly cruel modification. They turned their heads and screamed in terror and pain as their bodies continued to move against their will, continuing to fight against the Necrotic fleet. Reconstructed surged forward to cut them down and grant them peace, but as they did several began frantically working at their consoles.Multiple osjiic ships erupted in great balls of explosive Void energy as their reactors were purposely overloaded, sacrificing the ships to damage and destroy those around them. Wreckage and debris from the battles above streak the sky with pillars of fire as chaos rages across the planet. And still the Osjiic ships continued to fight. >cont(Incoming wall of text. I got a little carried away)
>>1087419The city that was without the Osjiic fleet above it fared poorly against the undead tide swarming their walls as Devastators punch through the earth and into the mining tunnels. Slaves and soldiers that attempted to hide underground were quickly overwhelmed and subdued as the Reconstructed filled the tunnels with potent knockout and riot gases. Manglers moved like nightmares as their large frames contorted in the tunnels, their grasping arms breaking down barricades and snatching hunkered soldiers from behind cover. The undead surged through the tunnels, their feral shouts mixing with the screams of those they overtook.Battletombs and Devastators attack the already damaged walls, sections falling before them to let Hearses and Chariots race into the city proper. Crawlers climb the nearly sheer faces of the walls to stand on top of the protective barriers, their powerful weapons clearing soldiers away as clouds of Scourge fliers descend on those poor osjiic left behind. Osjiic forces attempted to fall back as they fired into the advancing line of undead but their forces were already in disarray as they had to fight on multiple fronts against their suddenly armed and very pissed off slave population. The Necrolytes leading the slave-rebels try their best to urge them that the Reconstructed were there to liberate them but they were panicked and scared lot. Many of them attempted to fight back against the Reconstructed but the undead ignored them, only shielding themselves or retaliating with pacification gases on their way to fighting the Osjiic. In time the slaves began to accept that the undead did not want them and they holed themselves up, watching in wonder and terror as the city the slaved and toiled for was overwhelmed by long-forgotten nightmares.Undead moved from street to street, the tall forms of Brutes towering over the crowds of Trolls and Stingers marching steadily behind their shields. Talons and Stalkers swarm like locusts across buildings, bursting through windows or crawling in through the rooftops to attack and butcher the Osjiic hiding within. Brutes move forward in pairs, their great fists striking and battering down heavy doors and blockades, their armor shrugging off the weaonsfire of the Osjiic within and letting their smaller kin charge inside.Eiton guides his strike teams of Arc powered Trolls, the energy surging through them protecting against the osjiic void weaponry. He led them towards targets he'd marked out before hand, overrunning barracks and destroying weapons depots. Several times Voidsingers attempted to stop him but he was prepared for them, Void attuned Dirges following him neutering their power as he telekinetically launched Domination Spikes at them. His arc-bolter shot large spikes of metal, bolts of arc energy striking their rods true to send Osjiic soldiers down in spasming piles to be picked up and dragged off by other undead.>cont
>>1087423Osjiic juggernaut mechs attack the Reconstructed attempting to get past them into the city, their arrival helping delay the inevitable by stalling the undead charge. Great blasts of void energy erupt from their weaponry and rotating barrels spit streams of metal to cut down Trolls and Talons attempting to overwhelm them. Scourges dive from above, their necroflensers and shardspitters raining down on them or latching onto their metal forms, claws scrabbling to tear at sensor nodes to blind them.Brutes and Heavy Exosuited Necrolytes charge headlong at the mechs, weaponsfire chipping away at their armor but they would not be stopped. Several were armed for close combat and they swing their massive mauls and axes at the mechanized fighters as large thermal blades extend from forearms or voidbone sledges prime, meeting the large undead in deadly duels. The Voidsinger Commander, in the cockpit of his own heavy exosuit, shouts out commands as he sends his modified suit against the mechs. Voidscreamers perched above his shoulders blast powerful beams that strike his target, warping the metal under the gravitic assault. The mech turns in time to see the black-armored exosuit, designed to resemble those the Voidknights wore, closed the distance between them. It attempted to lift up its weapons to retaliate but the Voidsinger sends his exosuit strafing to the side while aiming a rocket pod on his suits forearm at the mech and unleashing a hail of explosives against it. The explosions stagger the mech but don't stop it and he hurriedly closes the distance. It extends a humming thermal vibroblade that glows with heat as he approached but he thrusts an arm out and a wave of necrotic plasma erupts from the plasmawave cannon. It's vibroblade melts and shatters under the intense attack and he is finally within melee range. A great fist rears back and he brings it down where a head would be on the mech, severely denting the metal and sending it staggering back several steps. Pushing forward the Commander brings great thermal glowing claws up and sinks them into the armored hull and starts to tear. The mech brings its weapon up and blasts at the exosuits abdomen with a stream of bulletfire but the Voidsinger continues his assault. The skull of the exosuit rears back then slams forward, knocking the mech back once more and he pushes the barrel of the recharged plasma wage against it's "chest" and fires pointblank, incinerating the armor and pilot with one blast. As it falls back motionless he turns to find his next target but they were found for him, a pair of mechs striding forward and unloading their weapons in his direction. Thrusting his hand forward he summons a hardlight barrier, the light flaring and rippling with each impact.>cont
>>1087431Prepared to leap in to attack them he was surprised as from above three of his Necrolytes drop down, thrusters from their jump-packs flaring bright as they land nearly on top of them. They shout out in defiance as they defend their Commander, two of them focusing to bring down one mech quickly while the third distracted the other. With a blast of his jump-pack the Commander leaps forward, catapulting himself at the distracted mech to crash into it's back. A void-sledge in his forearm primes, a shaft of voidbone extending from his shoulder before it fired and punched through the back the mech, a splash of black blood spurting from where the spike emerged out its front then falls motionless to the ground.Yet still the juggernauts continued to fight back and hold the line for the osjiic, rallying them around the city walls. The undead charge was mostly halted as artillery rained down on them from the osjiic tanks and mechs but there was a glimmering ripple of voidlight from above that grew more and more noticeable until the void-senstive osjiic looked up in alarm at the rapidly approaching source of power.Striking like a miniature void-nova an eruption of power explodes in the midst of the defenders line and from the smoke and flames the Armada's own juggernaut leaped into battle, it's warcry bellowing out across the battlefield. Twinfaces open their jaws and great jets of voidflame wash over the Osjiic soldiers and vehicles. Gral, the Voidknights Juggernaut, unleashes their fury as they rampage, greathammer swinging in one hand to strike with explosive force while the other launches blasts of concentrated void energy.[purple]"LET FEAR CONSUME YOU FOR WE ARE GRAL"[/purple]Their voice rings out and the line of osjiic defenders falter. Tanks turn their canons upon the newly arrived monster and mechs charge against the void-powered Brute. Their free hand reaches up to its neck and with a grotesque motion seems to decapitate itself and throw it's conjoined skulls at the first approaching mech. The horned skulls strike and and drive it down to its knees and Gral rears back, his head spinning on a chain of an absurdly long spinal cords, the undead monstrosity swinging its own skulls like some primitive flail that strikes with explosive void energy with each blow.Lorgul watches with pride swelling in his nonexistent heart at the sight, watching his creation fulfill it's purpose.Gral swings his skull by its spinal chain at a mech and it's jaws latch onto the metal chasis and iwth a great yank drags the mech toward him only to be struck by his hammer. The metal chasis tears free from the mech and exposes the pilot, an osjiic surgically grafted into machine screaming past the breathing mask as Gral flung the crippled machine away and moved onto his next target. Reconstructed surged forward in the wake of his assault, charging and swarming over the Osjiic defenders like a wave crashing over them and into the city itself.
With that I need to take a break. I actually think that'd be about the full day for the thread. We can continue the rest of the city invasions next thread. Sorry it's taking multiple threads. In future invasions I hope to streamline it moreAs it stands the city that did not receive the drop pod and mech reinforcements is well underway of being taken by the Armada. With Grals help and the strategies of the Voidsinger Commander and his necrolytes they are finally starting to truly get to the city as Devastator tunnels funnel undead into it from below. The Ahkam city is...well it's not doing so well. Reports are coming in from craft passing by overhead that the Ahkam forces are slaughtering the slaves and osjiic that tried to fight back and retake the city. Smoke is rising from a multitude of fires as the city devolves into total anarchy.
>>1087481>Reports are coming in from craft passing by overhead that the Ahkam forces are slaughtering the slaves and osjiic that tried to fight back and retake the city.Guess the Ahkam forces are getting reconstructed.
>>1087481Why aren't we besieging the akham held cities? Have our forces been straight up ignoring them? I thought we were here to take the entire planet, not just the areas the osijic managed to hold.
>>1087535>>1087535Grave asked which of the cities we wanted to focus on first and everyone voted for the two Osjiic cities. Looking like it might've been a mistake to ignore it.
>>1087481>Tfw when the battle endded up being more epic then you thought. I wish I could die like these crazy sons of a bitch.
>>1087544What the fuck? We had to choose a city to focus on? Was bringing the entire armada and all five orders of generals to Kanda not enough to establish numerical superiority necessary to cover the planet? Why did we only have enough troops to contain TWO cities? I thought we were an massive horde of undead capable of taking and holding entire star systems!
>>1087573>He thinks we are prepared for a Long drawn out war.Take a look at this mortal.
So I'll be up for a while longer if folks have questions or anything. Also, as long as the thread is up I'm down for answering questions that aren't too spoilery and you can post ship or unit ideas/designs.
>>1087439Hot damn, Jyoti! That was an awesome update! Thanks for running
>>1087578Did I fucking say that? We came to B'Nan with what was supposed to be an overwhelming numerical advantage over our rivals, sufficient to completely destroy or drive off their fleets in the system but NOT enough to take a measly couple hundred square miles of territory on single planet's surface. And for all the might of the defensive acumen of the Destroyers or Valresko's supposed strategic brilliance fucking NOBODY had the common sense to call in the reinforcements necessary to take an already broken city. How the fuck does this make sense for a faction that derives it's power from being able to flood battlefields with easily replaced and cheep troops? Why didn't we have sufficient numbers of troops to take more than two cities? If answering that is simply a matter of building up enough troops, how many more would we have to have to be able to do so? Of course there is no answer to this, because Graves has completely scrapped the troop count system, instead just saying we have 'enough' and that the numbers of troops will be handled in the fluff, but APPARENTLY we don't have enough to take B'Nan in a single go, which means we have to choose between two arbitrary options on which to funnel our troops because of QM fiat. According to this new system he put in it is literally impossible to produce enough troops to take more than two objectives at once no matter how big our empire gets, and that's bullshit.
>>1087693This is some extreme Salt. But honestly I'm pretty sure we didn't expect renforcements or things of that nature plus you know... dice.
Speaking of, I'm really glad we rolled that one. It really spiced up what would probably have been a fun but somewhat lackluster takeover. It's fun when unexpected stuff happens.
>>1087714This and Joker Quest have been the few times I've enjoyed the results of a failed roll
>>1087535One battle at a time we do the hat part first and then the mop up later. We did not want to focus on say the arkham an give the 3 other cities the chance to attack us while we are busy. Once this is felt with we will walk over and take the arkham city >>1087481Thanks for running grave, Gral is the kind of crazy I have come to expect and love from the voidknights but that head chain was one unexpected awesome bonus
>>1087693You know it's easier to write a operant combat scene if you don't have to jump around a lot, there is a lot going on an so it's easier on grave to focus on us battling one Enemy and then the next. Tactically speaking the safe move is to use overwhelming numbers against one enemy at a time secure their defeat before fighting a new opponent.
>>1087731>that head chain was one unexpected awesome bonusI can actually thank QD for that idea when I was discussing Gral's creation with him
>>1087750Literally head butting people at range
Small little status update for the Voidknight Disciple on Calera. They've been conducting small raids against isolated villages with stealthy units such as the Shadows and Looms attempting to rescue slaves or sabotaging their tributes to the Council.Has two bases established with stealth Coffins moving supplies back and forth. One is a mining outpost in the volcanic area they first hid in and have a small volcanic biomass farm there. Their main base is the cave system on the coast where they have built a larger biomass farm and where they are storing those they rescued since it's much more hospitable than the volcanic area. They've been keeping a low profile while steadily building up a reserve of Reconstructed troops that have been "hibernating" in caverns waiting for their orders. They have several Coffins all stealth capable, a handful of Nails they haven't deployed yet, and a group of Chariots they use for their raids. The Frigate has become the Disciples headquarters and it's been grounded since the move to the sea-side caverns. The Council seems to be taking notice of the raids but interrogations of captured soldiers reveal they believe it to be a persistent rebel cell. Some of the captured said they believed it to be the work of an enemy faction the Council has been at war with for decades, leading the Disciple to seek out more information but such knowledge has been hard to come by from the rank and file. The hidden, "pure" village the Disciple discovered in the mountain ranges has been undisturbed by the Council's forces leading them to believe they are completely unknown to the Council. Humans, Itru, and Vorh live together in harmony hunting and farming in the underground forest. The Disciple has confirmed that the Council's Throne City is capable of leaving the planet as a stealth Coffin sent to keep tabs on it watched it ascend from the atmosphere. Several other planets in the system have colonies with stories saying the Council is attempting to extend their territory to neighboring star systems although the going is slow.
>>1089985We should get him to continue to expand his operations And perhaps make contact with the pure villiage by dropping a dream stone nearby with some kelp
>>1089985Im curious about how powerful a Council member is without access to the Wormstar's shard. Years of dependency on it and few challenges could mean that if we removed it, our Voidknight Disciple could obliterate at least one of them, though we have to carefully plan any assassinations. If we kill one of them, best case scenario is enemy civil war, while worst case is they assume it's a powerful individual foreign to this world and hunker down in their fortress with the Shard.
>>1092822question is are they a unified council, or is it the usual back stabbing going on behind the scenes while they have a face of unity for the people. then it may be a case of divide and conquer, Thread necromancy because i can>>1087439Gral be all, what me whip it, what me...
>>1094790If its was too backstabbing then after a few thousand years it would not be a council any more. Maybe a few got killed off then they realized that there is power in numbers, or it could have a hierarchy in which they are equals in some matters but in others one or more is dominant. Either way we need to find out how strong one of them is while getting a boost from the shard. If they seem too strong then our top priority is finding a way to nab the shard or sever their connection to it.
