Welcome back, cadets, to the (early) seventy-third installment of Mecha Space Pirate Quest. I'm Wong, your host, and today you are UJCIDF SOUL Lieutenant Amos A. Wedge, known to the Avalonian forces on Qu'lir as the Blue Knight and pilot of the S-Delphinius Prototype. Let's start this off with you rolling a few unmodified 1d10s, shall we? They're unmodified because they have different modifiers, which I'll add in personally.

Rolled 3 (1d10)>>1055175First time rolling dice, let's hope I did good
>>1055175Oh sweet jesus, this is going to hell in a hand basket. Hopefully we can calm down simon and the squillia because I smell scenario boss.
>>1055233Scenario boss? More like Third Impact-we-all-gon-be-dead Boss. Remember what Maria said about Innsmouth?
>>1055263Yes, because I pieced it together last thread. Those things in the raptor was akin to a mandrake. The bio armor is basically talking to Simon and manipulating him through the Squillia. Unless we snap him out of it, this situation will go very bad.
>>1055263>tfw Innsmouth is literally "in the mouth" of an elder monstruosity from beyond our time.
>>1055211http://pastebin.com/sR0KhwEuI updated the M-Sagiser Pastebin, I'm gonna leave any other mech building stuff for post-thread

>>1055330>Bloodborne>giant fish monstersGG everyone we're dead Avalon won
The scream rattles your bones. It's a mechanical sound, mostly, like the sound a flexible sheet of metal makes when you hold both ends and wobble it up and down wildly, only loud and distorted beyond imagining. It sounds angry. It sounds frightened. Despite being clearly mechanical, it also sounds paradoxically alive. You turn back just long enough to see the S-Squilla ripping the restraint cables free, some of them dangling from its back where they tear in the middle rather than popping free from the sockets along its spine, but you don't stop running, out the door of the hotel and into the street. As you do, the S-Squilla's tremendous arm smashes through the glass, sweeping around in an arc that sends razor-edged fragments tumbling down, tumbling down towards you. Fortunately, you have the reflexes of a young ace, and you have Irina to protect. You reflexively predict where the shards are going to fall and pull Irina out of the way, your friends following you. “FATHER!” The S-Squilla roars. You wouldn't be surprised if your ears were bleeding from that awful tone, as another spasm rocks the earth. A building, one of the tall Jovian-style skyscrapers, shudders and starts to collapse, dust billowing into the air. You hear screams, some of them unfortunately cut off. There's a certain awfulness to it that you've never known on the battlefield, as the merciless hand of nature cuts those lives short. You try not to look at the bodies of some of the technicians who didn't make it out of the hotel, including a young woman desperately trying to resucitate a boy with a glittering fragment of glass as big as a dagger sticking out of his chest. A groundcar passing by swerves and fishtails, nearly flipping over, but managing to slam on the brakes in time. Through the window, you see the alarmed face of a young man, Martian. No uniform, but you don't really pay attention to that, you can assume he's military. You flag him down and grab the passenger-side doorhandle, throwing it open.“We need to get to the ship!” You bellow, practically throwing the others inside.“The ship?” He echoes. He must be in shock. Poor kid, he looks about your age, maybe a big younger.“Yes, the ship! The Cicero! We need our mecha to stop him before he hurts anyone!” You glance at the rear-view cameras, spotting the S-Squilla headbutting its way out of the hotel, ripping itself free through sheer brute force.“Ah, the Jovian ship. Say no more, effendi. By the way, what is that thing?” He asks, revving the sturdy sports-utility vehicle up and speeding away from downtown, towards where the Cicero is parked. “Classified.” Irina barks, seeming to recover her head a little. She's been staring at the hotel in shock ever since the S-Squilla started screaming.[Continued]
Also, I'm done checking the M-Sagister:>then anon posted new pastebin.Huh, interesting.Anyway, the CP cost is okay.But...First, your weapons range are wrong. The Sweeper range is 225mAnd the missiles range are 675m.Second, your missiles cost 4,875, you may want to round it anyway, but some anons seem to like to use even the centesimals... Third... Do you know what will happen if your mech loses its head? Are you certain of that strategy when your head is your weakest point?
>>1055338You know, I never really got how if Kos, or as some say, Kosm died in the past it could theoretically grant eyes to people in the future.
>>1055343once again Moe finds himself in a completely weirdly fucked up situation
>>1055343>Moe, master of not giving a fuck
>>1055343>Then Ceasar appears in the the front seat."Nothing is really classified when you're a Iron Kestrel!">He looks at Amo's stunned face while smiling smuggly and using his new shades."Long time no see, huh?"
>>1055351Eldrich abominations don't really seem to care about the whole 'linear passage of time' thing Wong.
>>1055351Are you also questioning how a giant spider made of eyes is keeping a nightmare out of reality or how a dude howling with a cage on his head is a good boss fight?Or how apparently you can turn into a squid if you eat umbilical cords?
>>1055376>"Long time no see, huh?">Not "Kept you waiting, huh?"Big Boss is sad.
>>1055390Rom was a hero and Micolash is a great boss fight. Also you turn into the squid because the umbilical cords were mutating you (giving you eyes on the inside), and destroying the Moon Presence completes the process of turning you into a true Old One.
>>1055409>he doesn't question why any of this shit is the way it is>but time shittery concerns himWong pls. It's all a metaphor.
“Don't worry, we've got five SOUL machines. We'll stop it.” Lara promises, her sisters nodding along.“No!” Irina barks again, “No. I understand, girls, but...that thing could rip you in half, it was built to rival the Black Ogre.”The Martian glances back at her, then turns his eyes again to the road.“But-” Lyra protests.“No buts!” Irina snaps, “Don't argue with me on this, damn it! Your Betta MPs aren't quite the same frame as a Knight, but they're about as sturdy. I've seen the footage of what the Black Ogre can do to those, and you should have too!”“I would be happy to provide assistance.” The Martian boy notes, deftly swerving around another collapsing building in the nick of time. “Can it fly?” Garret asks, craning his head around to watch as the S-Squilla tears its way free of the hotel as if emerging from a gigantic, glittering egg, shaking the glass shards from its frame and setting its eyes on the horizon. It begins to walk. A small office building stands in its way, and it casually steps onto the roof, crushing it down beneath its bulk. You use your PC to access the military commnet, meanwhile.“No and no!” Irina shakes her head violently, “If the Betta MPs won't do any good, neither will a Scimitar. That thing has a Magnetic Grappling Harpoon.” She pauses, then starts to explain, “That is, a nanofiber cable stored in liquid form and extruded into solid fibers when needed with a signal from the guiding microdrones that form the grasper at its tip.”“I know very well what a Grappling Harpoon is.” The Martian sounds hurt, slowing down to avoid a gaggle of Qu'liri being herded to safety by a large man with a mohawk and a beard. The man starts to approach and the boy waves him away, “We're alright!” He calls out to him, as the groundcar continues rolling, then he addresses Irina again, “I suppose a Scimitar would be of limited use against that behemoth. By Allah, I have only seen its like once before.”You grunt in acknowledgment, “The Paladin.” You guess. He must be referring to the size of the S-Squilla.“Yessss, the Paladin.” For a moment you almost think you saw him hesitate, but you suppose you would be distracted too. “What else could I be referring to, effendi? There are not many other mecha like that, no, not at all.”“The Black Ogre, I suppose.” Garret remarks. The Martian jumps, and swerves, avoiding a Qu'liri woman with a groundcar full of children. He waves apologetically to her, “Just as you say. As useful as it might be, alas it is not here.”You're about to ask his rank, he's keeping a damned cool head for a rookie. The Martians don't really have a special unit for their aces and seem leery of sending them to SOUL, but it's possible he's someone you've at least heard of, when you spot something that makes your heart nearly stop, standing on top of a building.[Continued]

>>1055417It's more that I wondered if Kos being properly killed just returned it to its home plane, or whether the "Kos" corpse is just a piece of the real Kos, or what.
>>1055347Updated the bin again: http://pastebin.com/sR0KhwEuManaged to add backup sensors back on and moved the cockpit to the torso, had to shave down the head a bit and had to use the un-rounded cost of the missile pod and remove the stereo and lift wire. This time for real, no more changes till post-thread.
Bloodborne is a game where you fight various giant shaggy dogs. I don't know where everyone is getting eldritch bullshit from.
>>1055427Moe, you are fighting Garret for top boy position. Also, I hope you lot are paying attention, we've got some clues. If the Squilia is scared and angry, calming it down may be the best idea. Hopefully that Pooling idea works when it comes to the chat, because we will need it.

A yellow robe that whips in the wind, and an almost featureless mask of pale wood. Tall, with what looks like an athletic build from what you can see outlined by the saffron cloth that enshrouds him.“...Bane?” You whisper.“From Batman?” The Martian asks quizzically. “You mean the masked man, yes?” He follows your gaze, and frowns, “That is Bane?”“I don't understand, what is he doing?” You ask aloud as the man in yellow drops out of sight.“What a strange-looking Bane. Should he not have body armor? On Mars, Bane wears armor.” The Martian sounds unimpressed.“It doesn't matter what he wears, what matters is his plan.” You shake your head, “Innsmouth's Theater in the Park isn't doing anything today, we drove by there on the way here. Why dress up?”“You would know better than I, effendi.” The Martian shrugs. Another rumble, and a jagged scar traces its way across the road. You see Bane lightly hop down from the rooftop, putting the building between you and him. You're not sure why you have such a bad feeling about this. The Martian doesn't stop to let you figure it out, gunning the engine and swearing in Arabic as he avoids the obstacles, getting you out of the city and to the ship. Finally, you're able to cut through the noise on the military commnet...or rather, Captain Clearwater does. For once, he's gotten the thing working correctly. At least, mostly correctly, he's much too loud."ALL UNITS, REPORT TO YOUR MECHA, INITIATE DISASTER RELIEF PROTOCOLS. INNSMOUTH GUARD, MOVE TO SUPPORT THEM. I'M IN TOWN, BUT I'M ON MY WAY BACK TO THE SHIP. JOVE GRANT MERCY TO US ALL.""Tater Squad here. Permission to engage?" It's a Qu'liri-accented voice, presumably some of the Innsmouth planetary guard."Ziggy Squad, moving to support Tater Squad. Enemy mech in our sights." Another voice echoes."TATER SQUAD, ZIGGY SQUAD, BELAY THAT." Clearwater's voice isn't a yell, just loud. He sounds alarmed, "YOUR BLUEGILLS CAN'T TAKE THAT THING.""We know, sir." Confirms Ziggy Squad's commander, "But we can slow it down."Tater Squad's leader confirms, "This is our home, sir. Dying isn't a bad price for that. Commencing epoxy webbing!"You hear Captain Clearwater snap to attention, "MINERVA PROTECT YOU, SOLDIERS. YOU'RE A CREDIT TO YOUR MECHA." He sounds a bit choked-up.[Continued]
>>1055448In Japanese "Hunter" and "Dogcatcher" use exactly the same word. You're just catching those doggers and sending them to a good home.
>>1055543..Who is this masked man and why am I starting to get a Big O vibe to go along with the Evagellion shenanigans.
>>1055568I bet my bitcoins that he is a Paladin.
>>1055572Also... because I was lazy and copied my sensors from another person, they have 700 km range...
Since we're talking about Bloodborne, just finished the Old Iron King in Ds2
>>1055597Great boss, I'd say it's way up in there in Souls boss design, right after Ancient Wyvern and Curse Rotten Greatwood.
>>1055607I always hated him because he's such a pain to fight solo with melee.
“Amos.” Irina remarks quietly, “Remind me later, I need to talk to you. It's about the reentry system the Cavalier used to reach Qu'lir's surface.”“What about it?” You ask, as the groundcar skids to a stop near the open mechbay doors of the Cicero. You undo your safety restraints.“Do you not know what 'later' means?” She harrumphs, then sighs, apparently resigned to it, “Damn it, I don't want you distracted wondering.” She grabs your shoulder, and whispers fiercely, “Remember how I said that was new technology even for Bahamutcorp? Well, I collected some samples to confirm my suspicions and...I was right. It IS our technology. The logo is even still on it.”“What does that mean?” You ask quietly. She shakes her head, “I don't know. Like I said, we'll talk later. Now go! Go!” She sighs, “At least we hadn't installed the thrusters on the S-Squilla yet, that should limit it to walking for now.”You've never got into your mecha and gotten airborne so quickly in your life, Garret flying alongside you. “Hey, Amos.” Garret asks over the comms, “What are we going to do? I mean, that's Simon in there. We can't really...” His voice trails off. You know exactly what he's thinking of. Lives are at stake, but Simon has been your friend ever since the Academy.>[What say?]
>>1055627We try and distract him, get him away from town. Keep him talking. By the sounds of it the machine is freaking out as much as he is. We need to snap him out. Irina, look at the data we collected does the color of the thread remind you of something else's color? I think something is messing with the Squillia.
>>1055610I'm about 95% certain the entire Old Iron King boss fight was designed around him pushing you into that stupid fucking hole near the fog door.
>tfw the corps are working with avalon>tfw Roarke really is the only hope for the galaxy>tfw holy shit Moe has fluffy hair
>>1055627>"We keep him talking and try to calm him and his mech down... That thing is "alive", isn't it? I think that it may be "feeding" Simon with whatever it is sensing or feeling right now, and while we can't do anything about that our only choice is to try to reason with them to avoid both of them going beserker... Also, I'll try to hold him down while you protect my ass from external interference, okay?"
>>1055351Dont think too hard about it. Cthulhu is dead as well.
>>1055652You know... They are a monarchy... There is nothing but "The Queen felt like so" to block them from going "Ancap levels of production are back!" and buying the corps.Or it could just be the typical case of a Corp selling to both sides and to make even more money, bonus points if it makes the war longer.
>>1055641Either way, we need a full report on it's capabilities. Get that Girl Simon likes. If the thing is controlled, Simon is our best bet in calming it down. That may require snapping him out of it by talking him down. Anyone who knows him might be able to help here but we are going to need a lot of it.So the Plan is first: Get him out of the city and away from civilians. Try to communicate and slow him down. He looks like he's going somewhere. Let's stop that. Garret provide support. If it gets dangerous we go for the take down but as a last resort. Also, find out where that earthquake is coming from. It only started when the Squilia acted up.
>>1055597You better be playing a dual cestus build thunder. I was so disappointed when they nerfed it for dark souls 3
>>1055677>TFW Not!Anaeheim Electronics/Bahamutcorp has a division of Green Man Sympathizers
>>1055713Yeah, now everyone only uses them for parrying.
>>1055713Nope quality build with full Drangelic set after abandoning a miracles build
>>1055714Man, I bet they will sell the Tetra to Roarke if they could. Also, have some fitting music! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTST11Ybwg4

>>1055762>Not dual wielding smelter hammers in your skivvies
>>1055762>>1055787>Not going for maximum cancer and using the Smelter Helm, Havel Set and Hexes
“We distract him.” You say simply, “Keep him talking. I don't think it's Simon doing this.” You plot Simon's course on your sensors, and curse. He's not following a road, not mostly, he's walking a straight line through buildings and roads alike, heading towards the edge of the city.“What do you mean?” Garret asks, the S-Pyxicephalus' head swiveling towards you. “That fungus we found, those weren't the famous Green Men spores. What if it's some kind of degnerated mandrake?”“A what?” Garret asks.“The plant thingy the Paladins and S-Squilla have. The one that powers up their mech and makes it more responsive. Think about it, it's like a living HMIS, right? So it can interact with living things, but because it's biological it's not as predictable as ours.”“It's still dumb to call it a mandrake.” Garret grumbles.“So why is it here? How did it get here? What if there's more? What if they're communicating with the S-Squilla somehow, calling it?” You ask. Tater and Ziggy Squads are missing a few people, and as you watch, the S-Squilla fires its magnetic grappling harpoon from its mouth, grabbing ahold of an unlucky Bluegill, yanking it in, and crushing it. Epoxy webbing criss-crosses the road in all directions but one, hard as cement, but it doesn't seem to stop the juggernaut tearing through it as though it were cobwebs.“It sounds like you're panicking, Amos. Maybe they are and maybe there aren't, let's not get into any conspiracy theories until we know more. Right now, the objective is right ahead of us.” Garret warns you, "Even if you might be on to something. Simon's dad abandoned him, right? Plus his stepdad's dead. What father is he talking about?"You nod, “Right.” You flip your comms to the general channels, “Good work, guys, we'll take it from here.” You open vidcomms to Simon.[Continued]
Game continues in an hour so Wong can eat.

>>105596031.>>1055958I cant see the logic in attempting to use wrestle with a mech that specializes in hand to hand.
So just as a heads-up the S-Squilla costs 463 CP without any thrusters and before multiplying by 1.5 for its bio-energy cool powerplant (mandrake).
>>1055979>463 CPWTF IS THIS THING PACKING?
>>1055979Part of this is because of its primary weapons, which are a discarded version of the Kaiser's.
>>1055979Well that is horrifying. IRIN YOU BETTER HAVE WEAPON AND DEFENSE DATA ON THIS THING, WE ARE NOT FIGHTING IT BLIND.
>>1055979>436>before 1.5 multiplication.aaaaa
>>1055994wait, what do you mean by discarded? As is in the kaiser's old clothes or 'woah-ho, no way can we use this stuff! It's too expensive and dangerous!'
>>1055994Laser claw things right?

>>1056052Honestly, that isn't nearly as bad as I feared.
The only saving grace about this entire situation is that we didn't have our bits when they built this so they have no countermeasure planed for them
>>1056052>[Head-Mounted] Magnetic Grappling Harpoon: Range 400m, WA 0, 0K (8 Kills of structure), Entangling (can deliver grapple attacks), 7 CP, 1 Spaces, 4 tonsWrong.it should cost 14,5CP.About the rest... Eh, I'm dissapointed, I though that it would be way worse. The only thing that really makes me worry is the "Fearsome Maw", But the gloves are "only" Kaiser-level, and the shields do nothing against strong enough weapons. In fact, if it tries to block Amos's Lance, it would destroy the shield for the rest of the fight, if I'm not mistaken. We can probably just take away its limbs if we we want to... But lets try the power of friendship first.
>>1056118I think the counter measure for the bits is 'get in range of the Squillia'. This thing is god damn horrifying with that accuracy and bio plant.>>1056121First off, 8 kill melee weapon is 4 cp. entangling increases it to 5. 2 cp are needed to bring the spaces down. It's legit. And that shield is strong enough to block the blows. You need to do double the damage to short out those shields. So it can indeed block our hits. Infact, it would be just strong enough to take no kills from the first hit.
>>1056052Hey Guys, whats going on.......>What a day to over sleep
it currently doesn't have thrusters implemented yeah? so we blow off its legs forcing it to crawl with its hands... this thing is starting to remind me of the burning cleric beast fight from the bloodborne dlc
>>1056052Its actually got a pretty shitty range on its harpoon. Shooting it from range is a valid option. Anyone got any old Ajax Sniper Canons to equip our Pumpkinseeds and Betta's with?
>>1056140And you know what the kicker is? That shield is just strong enough to fully block our own punches and does not degrade. In a drawn out fight the Squilia would win just due to attrition.
>>1056140Oops, you are right, my mistake on the grapple, as I probably expected it to be quick.About the shield... I was wrong in the duration of the malfuction, but 9k is enough to shut it down for the rest of the turn, so he can only block 2 attacks out of 4 each turn... what isn't a very good deal for him. Also, you forgot about the "EMW ignores 4 SP" part, so Amos's 12k can indeed shortcircuit it for good.
>>1056175EMW does not affect energy and reactive shields.
>>1056173Aren't those shields not active shields though? No autoparry. And he still needs to successfully parry the attacks. It's entirely possible for Roarke to drown it in fists. Especially if he destroys one arm then it can't block from that side due to shield coverage and how it works, right? I have no idea what is going on, since I can't understand the rules enough to try.
Rolled 3 + 5 (1d10 + 5)You get out your PC and start typing to Irina, hoping to get some data on this thing. Fuck classification, you're well beyond the point of protecting Bahamutcorp trade secrets. Simon accepts at the same moment Irina returns your message. There's a file attached, and you open it up...but you're more concerned with your friend.Simon is hanging in his cockpit, the white tendrils attached to his helmet have wrapped themselves around his limbs, holding him aloft like a marionette. His arms move in a limp imitation of the swinging haymakers the S-Squilla is using to remove buildings from its way, and his legs sway as if marching. He looks like he's asleep, but he's smiling.“Simon. C'mon, Simon, snap out of it.” You call out to him. “It's time to wake up.”“Amossss?” His head tilts one way, then the other, almost drunkenly, “I...I'm sorry, Amos, I don't know what's going on.”“Father, I'm coming!” The S-Squilla roars in Simon's voice, “I'm stronger than ever, stronger than anyone! Nothing can stand in my way now! I'm not a weakling anymore!”“Simon, somehow your mech took control from you. Take it back, come on man.” You look down at the file, you can't help yourself...and then you abruptly wish you hadn't. A bead of sweat trickles down your forehead beneath the visor of your helmet. Why? That's the only question. Every mech designer boasts about their work, claims it's the best, the ultimate weapon, why did Irina have to be so honest and so competent!? “Just hit eject.”“Amos...” Simon's eyes open slightly, and he reaches out, his fingers grasping at nothing, “I'm sorry. In the end, I really wasn't strong enough. I never should have become a SOUL pilot. This thing, I'm not riding it. It's riding me. I can feel it, digging around inside my brain, learning how I fight, using it. It's making me remember every sim I've ever done, every fight I've ever been in, all at once. It's...I can't explain it. Please, Amos.” His eyes open wide, anguish shining bright in his face, “Just aim for the cockpit, I can't control it for long!” The S-Squilla's entire frame trembles and slowly, meter by meter, it spreads its arms wide, exposing its torso. You activate the S-Delphinius' lance, hovering on your thrusterjets, “You know I'm not going to do that.”Simon lets out a choked sob, his eyes jerking crazily all around, his body thrashing as if electrocuted...and then abruptly going limp.Rain begins to fall again. Just like when you fought the Paladin.Lightning crackles in the S-Squilla's maw. The remains of the Bluegill smolder in its grip as its hands and arms start to shine. A beautiful, pearlescent radiance, all colors and none, glistens from them, interlapping layers of A-Particle sheaths and contained plasma. It tosses the smaller mech aside, and roars. Raindrops hit its hands and burst instantly into steam, clouds trailing its shining fingers as they curl into fists.>[1d10+5]
>>1056173NO, it isn't.It blocks just 8SP, as the arms bonus do not apply. What happens is that the first hit gets ignored by the Beta armor, bu then the linked one do full damage on his arm, doing 6K to the arm and ablating the armor by -1SP .Then his shields goes down. And he loses his arms in the next hit he receives.

>>1056219The Kaiser has one big advantage, to my mind, in that it's piloted by Roarke, who is as canny as canny gets and has a lot of experience with brawls...and is also quite willing to cheat. He might just keep distance, use his drones and harpoon to immobilize the S-Squilla's limbs, force it into a situation where his higher grappling pools apply, then tear it apart with the Kaiser's actual hands once the arms were pinioned.
>>1056205Roarke has far higher ranged capability than the Squilla, though. He can sit outside of the range of its Harpoon because it doesn't have the great shit Grapple-chan has and hit the Squilla with bit fists until either the target or the bits are disabled.Honestly the KK's waifu upgrades really give it an edge.

“Garret, cover me.” You order, taking flight along with the S-Pyxicephalus, “Aim for the legs, we don't want to hurt him.” You send him the file, and hear him swearing. The stout beam gatlings in the Pyxicephalus' forearms orient on the legs of the rampaging S-Squilla as the front of the S-Delphinius' right pauldron opens up to reveal a circle of ten needle-tipped missiles. Three of them fire at once, aimed for the S-Squilla's legs. You didn't expect it to be so fast. It leaps back away from the missiles. You hold off on detonating them as they land in the road. Garret opens fire too with a fusillade of shots from both arms, but again the S-Squilla leaps out of the way like a cat, landing on all fours. It roars, firing its harpoon. The nanofiber cord licks at your mech, but you're no slouch yourself and avoid with ease.“Simon, remember what I told you? It's alright for a soldier to stumble and fall sometimes, but he can't stay down. Are you really going to give it your all? What happened to surpassing Starwind!? >>1056603The scene with the watermelons was a work of pure art.And that one sequence when the father actually stayed blew my mind. The fried chicken saving the world plot device was rather cliche, but they saved it in the end with the soulful rendition of "I like big butts and I cannot lie". Moved me to tears.

Back on the topic of mecha, what are you guys thoughts on xenoblade? I've only played the one with shulk and didn't finish that one, are the others better? I know xenoblade 2 was announced for the switch so i'm sorta curious.
Should I feel worried that shooting your friend's mech that possessed him is producing all of this talk about NTR and giving traps the D?

Garret opens fire again, and this time, the S-Squilla is forced to alter its tactics, throwing its hands up and merging its A-Particle fields into a flat beam shield that absorbs Garret's fire. You, though, have lined your shot up carefully this time. Six hammer-bolts of plasma tear through the S-Squilla's left knee, dropping it to the ground. “Remember! Remember all the good you've done! Even when you were scared, you always pulled through and did your best to help when we were in a bind. We fought through all of this shit with you at our side, Simon! You're part of our squad! We even dragged Garret through a rainstorm to base together. You don't let your machine control you, you control the machine! Now give it a stern talking-to and get it back under control.” You roar as the S-Squilla falls with a sixty-ton crash. Again, the tongue flicks out, but you smack it aside with your shield and dodge its rebound. You're used to these things by now, “I see you! ENEMY!” The machine roars, still with Simon's voice, trying to crawl forward. You look down at it with pity, “Your father, if you mean the Gerard, isn't even on this planet. The Gerer and Berenger are the only two Paladins on Qu'lir.”It slowly shakes its head in denial, without explanation. White tendrils wriggle around the stump of its severed leg, “A Father...” It snarls.“Simon had a family that raised him! His father was a good man, he grew watermelons and taught Simon how to be gentle and kind! He doesn't NEED another one!” Nedermeyer barks louder than her rifle, drilling the S-Squilla with two pinpoint shots to the head. (-1 SP, 7 remaining, -3 Kills, 4 remaining with the first shot. -1 SP, 6 remaining, -4 Kills, HEAD DESTROYED with the second). The S-Squilla jerks and twitches, its head hanging limp on its neck. Nedermeyer might never get acknowledged as a Bucephalus ace with that rifle from the splinter company, but she sure put it to good use.[Continued]

“My foster dad. R-right.” Simon starts to move on the vidcomms, struggling against the tendrils, his voice growing more clear. The S-Squilla roars in anguish through its broken teeth, the sound dissonant and honking as it flops around.“STOP IT!” Simon yells, “That's enough! You're my SOUL mech, you were built for me!” He grits his teeth, and grabs the tendrils, pulling hard, “You want my skills? My energy? TAKE THEM! You'll use them as I command! You were built so I could ride you!”Abruptly the noise stops, and the eerie light fades from the S-Squilla's eyes. Simon is completely awake, panting and with his face shining with sweat as though he'd just broken out of a fever. Slowly, the tendrils withdraw, lowering him back into his chair. He hits a few buttons, experimentally, “Operational effectiveness has dropped, but...but...” The S-Squilla holds up one hand, and lifts two fingers, “But it's moving the way I tell it too now.” He claps his hands over his face suddenly, “I killed people, didn't I?” Garret snorts, “Don't you even start, you hear me? If you start blaming yourself for what that monster did, because someone at Bahamutcorp strongarmed Irina into building an ersatz Paladin and shoving a recruit into it, Amos and I are going to kick your ass when you get out of there.”“I'll help!” Catherine Nedermeyer promises, her Palomino landing with a flourish and hefting its bulky gun like a club. The S-Pyxicephalus crosses its arms, “I'm going to write to my father, I'm going to find out who was responsible for this, and I am going to use every channel I have to punish them. Simon, I'm so, so sorry.”“Not as sorry as their families are.” Simon replies, in a dead voice. "I'm not worth protecting. I'll take responsibility, if I persuade whoever's in charge with the General gone to give me a court-martial and get drummed out it'll save the UJCIDF the embarrassment of this disaster.">[What say?]

For example, Colonel Stern's vision of SOUL as a band of heroes that save the day no matter the cost, or for the man she loves.
>>1056704"You are going to stay right where you are, you are going nowhere for no damn court martial. Those brave men and women knew what they were doing and they'll do it in a heartbeat again. And when you want to go and apologise to their families and thank them for their service, i'll be right there beside you."
>>1056704>"Simon, it wasn't you... And i don't even think that we can fully blame the Squilla either, in the end when used a living being without any life experience as a weapon against its will, can we really blame it for trying to escape and run to its "family"? But I certainly can't let you take all of this blame unto yourself too... so if there is anyone to blame, we're going to take this as a team, got it?"
>>1056704Don't Simon. This is not your fault. It's a bad case of us trying to run before we could walk. The higher ups were likely trying to push it out fast so if anything, the fault lines on them for not live testing the thing without weapons first. If you want to make ammends, help the people rebuild when this is over. Take what happened here into your heart, and work hard to make up for your slip. We'll all trip once or twice after all. Just means your friends will be there to help pick you up when you fall.
>>1056704Uh, I have no idea what someone would tell someone to make them feel better that wouldn't be generic "that's just what people say" stuff. It's not your fault? You weren't in control?
>>1056724But it's cute.
>>1056724The impulsive part is one of the things that I most distrust in her, I have no idea of what Sam will do in any emergency case, for all I know Sam can go full Roarke "I'M GOING TO SAVE EVERYONE MYSELF" at any moment... In a S-Betta....
>>1056704From what I can see that thing had a mind of its own. More importantly nobody told you what the hell to expect when they shoved you in there. You're not responsible for what it did.You having compassion for the people who were hurt does you credit Simon, but they don't need a martyr, they need justice. Throwing you to the damn wolves won't get them that. You're a Soldier Simon, you take orders, do your job, and Jove willing you manage to stay alive so you can do it again and again until they let you go home. You didn't sign up to be put in a damn paladin knockoff with no warning.Heads are gonna roll, justice will be served, and the people who caused this will be held accountable. If you want to apologize, if you want to console the families of the people who lost their lives to this mess, then I'll be right there with you every fucking step. But you don't get to throw your life away just so some Brass covered piece of shit gets a free pass. We're in this together Simon, so stop acting like you have to do this alone.
>>1056704>"Then what about us huh. We'd be down one of the best soldiers this war has ever seen. Done let your guilt get in the way of your duty. Dont let your self doubt stop you from fulfilling your purpose. We need you Simon, this isn't just about you anymore, you have a responsibility to everyone that has faith in you to be the best you can be.If you wanna make up for what you think you did then keep fighting. Together we are gonna end this war and save more lives than anyone of use could imagine."
>>1056725>>1056728>>1056739I feel bad for the Squilla too, as if you stop to think, it is just a giant baby with superpowers that was desesperately trying to find the family that it thinks that have abandoned it for being "weak"....and we are calling it a monster for resisting being mind control into spend his life fighting a war that isn't his.Is this really good?ARE WE THE GOOD GUYS!?

>>1056759Whew! Forgot this was 2x2chan for a minute there. Thanks for reminding me.
>>1056754No, at least I'm not.The poor bastard is as much a victim here as Simon, it didn't ask for this. The 'monster' here is the Head honcho who thought, "you know what this war needs? A crime against god and man specifically made to combat a pirate who isn't even involved in either side of this conflict but who is a slight embarrassment to the Military. Added bonus, after it kills the pirate we can use it to fight the paladins."
>>1056754>Brazil is now at the point where he will handwave a greenman machine murdering plenty of innocents because it didn't know any better
>>1056754I don't think its quite that human... its taking prominent concepts from simons head that vaguely fit its own situation where its essentially a sliver of a larger system that was severed, I doubt it actually fully understands what its saying. if it is that human avalon is fucking terrifying.
>>1056765I mean he supports greenmen, guys who built entire armies around mind control, but objects to one murderous plant bot.
>>1056759>>1056763Do you want to execute Squilla for it? Or punish it somehow? That is what I'm asking. For me... I think that Simon has to have a serious talk with it if we want it to fight for us... As we can't risk having him doing it again everytime it senses a Paladin.
>>1056754It's a pretty smart baby. I'd say it's a teen who just got a taste of a few things. The damage we did to it seems pretty easy to fix with some help since it still has a head and the leg could be reattached. However, it needs to learn control and awareness. It took direct control over Simon instead of being a partner. It damaged needlessly, and it was incredibly selfish. Both Simon and Squilia need training and discipline.>>1056775Considering it costs over 600 cp, they aren't going to trash it for walking in a straight line. It is a capable machine once verniers and thrusters are attached and unlike the Slinger, it's still in one piecish.
>>1056775If it was me In their position I wouldn't have grown a disgusting plant cyborg in the first place. But now that they have they should probably lobotomize it or something.
>>1056773No, no, I don't mean what you think, I mean what you said. "Saying matters more than thinking" and all that profound bullshit.
"Right, one ass-kicking, coming right up." Garret promises."Simon..." You marshall your thoughts, before speaking firmly, "For the last time, it wasn't you. It wasn't even the Squilla, which in the end was just a living being with no previous experiences that woke up alone and afraid." After this you're willing to believe a lot of the Duchess' theories, "It just wanted to find where it belonged, too, so it ran. If there's any blame passed around, we're all taking a piece of it.""But-" Simon protests, and you hold up the S-Delphinius' hand to cut him off."No buts. We...the UJCIDF...tried to run before we could walk. I know this project was rushed, because this is the military and there's always a push for quick results. They should have let Irina power it up without weapons first. If you want to fix this, join me in repairing the damage when this is over. I know you, you're going to take what happened here to heart and work hard to do better, and the S-Squilla will be there with you. Like you said, it's your mech. We all trip sometimes, but you've got people here to pick you up when you fall. So you're going to stay with us, and not go to any damned court martial. Those Bluegill pilots knew what they were doing, and given the chance, they'd do it in a heartbeat again. Who's going to help defend their home if not for you? You want to take responsibility? Do it, don't run away." You're aware that you're babbling a little, some of what you said is a bit redundant, but you've got to whack a nail in the same spot a bunch of times with a hammer to get it to stick into the board.Speaking of Bluegill pilots, you do a scan for the one the S-Squilla had crushed, and locate its ejected cockpit. It's intact, and as you watch, another Qu'liri in a pilot suit limps up to it, and the hatch pops open. The pilot inside practically falls out, his leg twisted at an awkward angle, and his comrade helps him stand and starts hobbling to safety with him.You smile, and that's when tragedy almost strikes. Another rumble shakes the earth, and with a crash, a building topples, falling right towards them. There's no chance for them to dodge, and your three mecha have no way to stop it from happening. But Simon's does. Both hands and its remaining leg tense, and it throws itself in the way, covering the two pilots with its entire body like a man throwing himself on top of a grenade. Bricks and masonry fall onto the mighty assault mech, practically covering it, pummeling it like the Black Ogre's fists. It shakes and shudders, but that chassis was built to withstand great damage, and it manages to keep from falling onto them."Simon!" You call out, landing and rushing over, trailed by Garret and Nedermeyer. Between the three of you, you manage to clear away enough of the debris for the pilots to climb out, shaky but unhurt. The older one, a sergeant, turns and gives the S-Squilla a shaky salute, which it clumsily returns.[Continued]
>>1056768Let's be honest, most of the military wants to fuck him, the other half want to be him, and nestled somewhere in between those tectonic forces are the friction that just want to fucking kill him.
>>1056775You don't punish a sword if you cut your hand on it.All we need is the linkage between pilot and mech the bio-system applies, the front-brain-esq thoughts its acquired are unnecessary and inefficient. If it was an AI I doubt anyone would have any qualms deleting it or altering its code to limit independent function.
>>1056775Its a fucking robot
>>1056770Nah, I'm an ancap, we would probably kill it with fire anyway. And then make the army pay for repair/lives lost. This would be the most "ethical" solution possible in my view.>>1056771I don't think that it is completely human... but it clearly thinks and knows things on its own for a certain extent.>>1056773I don't, that is a meme, I just think that Avalon is slightly better than the jovians in certain aspects and easier to overthrow when the time comes...Also, in general they are more trustworthy.>>1056802Is it really?>>1056797I don't know... It seems very alive for me, and this would be pretty evil to do to a inteligent being.
>>1056797>You don't punish a sword if you cut your hand on it.You probably should if it intentionally takes control of your sword fighting ability and stabs you.
>>1056797>You don't punish a sword if you cut your hand on it.>flashbacks to thrown controllers and broken monitorsYeah, that'd be silly.
>>1056806It was designed to be used as a tool, that's all it will ever be I don't give a shit how much of it is alive.
>>1056737She still solves her problems like a ninja. Honestly, if I had to pick one waifu to save everybody in a pinch, it would be her. >>1056775It doesn't quite work like that. The Anon who said it was trying to communicate an extremely limited understanding through concepts it picked up from Simon's brain was right. "A Father" means something very different to it than "the thing that sired me".
>>1056818You aren't wrong but i think everyone in thread already knows to take anything brazil says with four metric tons of salt unless it relates to mech design
>>1056806Lets look at the history of the setting here>huge disaster with bio engineering>huge disaster with AI I might be wrong here. Cant remember if it was AI and nanomachines or just nanomachines>this thing is basically bothThis plant fucker is screwed.
>>1056827Sometimes I really doubt that anon
>>1056828Just Nanomachines son.
>>1056806Either way, I think this is a case of 'one comes with the other'. The bio energy and general intelligence comes with it causes both this behavior and the increased power and mobility. Synching movements, removing delays, this is likely whats happening. Problem is, no one tested the damn thing first and chances are since it fed on Simon's thoughts to think better, it also likely took some of simon in as well. That means his baggage too.Either way, brass won't cripple this thing and certainly not Bahamut corp. Whats a town to a war that spans galaxies?
>>1056797About that. Every mech has a number of limited AI systems that make controlling it possible, interpreting the user's thoughts and commands and translating them into things like flight and motion. A mech wouldn't be able to even walk if it just translated the brain's commands to the legs on a 1:1 scale, there's a difference between walking as a man weighing less than a ton and walking as a machine that weighs in the tens of tons. A Paladin's mandrake has a more powerful, biologically-based one that controls its style of power plant. In theory you could maybe lobotomize it, but then it would be just an ordinary mech. An expensive one, but still just an ordinary mech.
>>1056827>Implying that the Avalonian/kestrels faction is just a meme.Yes anon, it is not like I'm their secret leader or something.
>>1056847Well, they tested to see if it could move with the right stimuli, the problem came about when they hooked an actual pilot, neurotic and insecure Simon, into it.Most Paladins are piloted by people who were rebuilt for the purpose. Loriette, even as a cripple, had a very strong will and she's on the weaker end of the scale. Simon never had that advantage, he's just a regular kid who's talented at martial arts.
>>1056875We'll make him better. The problem starts when the highers think to start rebuilding simon physically.
>>1056875So what you're saying is put Roarke in one of these and dangle a waifu in his face and he'll be hitting the +30s with his combat rolls, eh?
>>1056863ah ok, I was kinda wondering what the point of a bio system like this was for when AI is probably safer... so not much you can do to remove the independent thoughts if you want to keep the extra functionality, guess we need to train it like an animal to some extent then.
>>1056870Brazil. First of all Roarke would never do that so long as the green lady still lives, Second One of the only things i can respect about you is the sheer amount of faggotry that you can manage to bring to a thread while still functioning, it is both impressive and terrifying to behold. You are like Fluff but somehow more intelligent
>>1056881Actually gives me a funny thought, if the mecha took some traits from Roarke and started to seek out mecha waifus. Dat Archen booty
>>1056891Oh man that brings back some memories. What quest was fucking fluff in again?
>>1056863And there it is. The Brass wouldn't do that sort of thing. The cost and promise wouldn't allow it. 'Military accident with prototype. System went haywire. Secured and fixed.' is what will appear on the report.>>1056875And that brings some concern. Once you get a assembly line.. or farm for these things, you simply need to find strong willed aces. Considering the war there are likely a bushel of them. It'd take 2 weeks for 1 MP, but slimming the systems would slim the cost.

>>1056906Cocksucker loves to stir the shit
>>1056909inb4 he shows up
>>1056888Fuuuuuwa, let me see how to put this without spoiling too much, because it's easier to just explain than let everyone have the wrong impression forever. It's rare for a Paladin to go berserk. Even when it was getting torn apart by the Knuckle Kaiser, the Anseis was completely under Loriette's control. She had, after all, experience avoiding the kind of mental feedback it could latch onto.Duchess Maria Carnegie believes that the Paladins are alive and self-aware, to an almost mystical degree. She would agree if you said they have independent thoughts. She considers the Berenger like a very intelligent dog that also carries the holy will of the Lady.Duke Eustace de Rothschild-Beauchamps thinks that's all bullshit, and HE has activated the full overcharged mode (+2 versus the +1 Simon had) of the Oliver a handful of times, considerably more than Maria has. He's convinced that it just mirrors the thoughts of its rider through its own lens. He cares about his wife and kids and got worked up thinking about REALLY getting to go home at last and see them again and maybe quit fighting for good, and he would say that the Oliver absorbed those thoughts and mirrored them by unleashing its full power. Almost like the psychic equivalent of a parrot repeating words it doesn't understand. The Lady of the Woods has given clarity to neither of them on this matter.Simon, though, on that first test, didn't quite have enough will to command the S-Squilla. Now, maybe it did sense something, viewed it through Simon's mental lens, and acted on it until he adamantly forced it to stop. Maybe an outside influence affected it. Maybe it really was Simon's fault and the machine found that well of anger and resentment that Simon didn't even know he had and, recognizing it as a strong-willed part of its rider, tried in its own way to act on it by finding Gerhard Biggs and smashing his head in. Or maybe Simon's own father had absolutely nothing to do with this.
I like watching you guys, by the way, sometimes there's a bit of cringe but that goes hand-in-hand with the internet, and it's always worth it in the end.

The Duke is a bro, and even if I okay with attacking his ships that don't pay tribute for entering our turf, we should let him screw the jovians mostly in peace, as he brought nothing but money and protection from the autorities to us(as everyone is too worried about him).Who is Fluff?>>1056894Instead of Gundam-san we are having Kaiser-san with abridged stories of the Kaiser searching fo dat mecha booty?>>1056905>>1056906>>1056909>>1056910Who is this guy!?Is he that bad? >>1056896Tell me the story of Fluff, for it is one I haven't heard.speaking of planefag, I just had the awful thought that Young might have been the protagonist's name in SWQ. Jesus is absolutely not at all like that guy and his name is "Keith Young" just because Keith is kind of a dorky name and because Young rolled off the tongue better than Yuengling, the other name I almost went with. I wanted to avoid beer jokes.
>>1056916No, thank god for that. You're a faggot but not that big a fag.You should still fuck your friend anyways, faggot.
>>1056916Nah, neither of you are bad. I haven't seen Fluff in action (I just saw him frequenting Beleaguered Prince, he hardly ever says anything at all) and expressing your opinion doesn't make you bad.I mean, it's the goddamn internet, just ignore people you don't like. It's not that hard. Especially when you have 4chanx, just autohide their ID and they're gone.

He made himself an easy target I'd say, so we remember him more than other annoying namefags, think of it as a sortof shitty nostalgia.>>1056925He used to be pretty bad, especially looking back at archived tg quests I think he did get better though.
>>1056916>It can "talk" though, and Simon said that he could feel what the machine "felt".>so they can communicate to each other to a extent, so this will probably make it more easier.Although this is true, remember that virtually every narrator in this quest is an unreliable one. >>1056942>>1056945Guess I'm a newfag then since I only started archive bingeing quests in 2014 and only started actually participating halfway through 2015 after about a half year of lurking activequests.I read a couple archived gundam based quests but I don't think I read that one, Guess I should check it out
>>1056945Ah yes. We must never forget Zoloman. His heat hawks were things of legend.
Maybe nobody will notice if I say in a very small voice that I only got through SWQ until the protagonist cucked Minna with that other witch, then found other witch doing it with Minna. I know that sounds hypocritical, but Roarke is pretty upfront about wanting to be with multiple women and has a ridiculous rock star sex drive. Plus, 2/3 of the human population was wiped out, so "one man with several women" isn't really stigmatized. On Mars, where the population is actually skewed notably towards women because so many of the men just DIED in the Great Sidereal War, it's become extremely common, hence acquiring the nickname of "Martian Marriages". Even then, he didn't start sleeping with multiple women until Samantha and Karen said they were okay with it, then Red Siren was cool with it because she's competitive and convinced that she's the female lead. Fatima is Martian and expected it because Roarke is, to her, more of a lord than a pirate. Clemmy fully intended to be 100% possessive and keep other women away from Roarke with a knife until Red Siren got through to her. It's not just men who learn to understand each other through mecha combat.Other than that I've only read a few of the GoT quests and Zeonquest, which is why I run this less like a normal quest and more as a fast-and-loose one-character game with a crowd of players.

>>1056951I do think this one benefits from having an actual system. I always wondered why dudes didnt just play table top games over the internet on /tg/.
I only started about last January with Thief's quest since I never really went on /tg/

>>1056962I know right?
>>1056960Does that mean more fighting? Less fighting? Seeing Caesar and Moe laughing as they fly back home carrying Irina?
>>1056954Hm... I asked him about it one time and he said that he was full of other projects that took priority at the moment... and I now that few of them didn't even get out yet.So I don't see it happening soon, maybe in 2 or 3 years... But it is maybe better this way too, as there will be far more content at this point than it exists now.I'm happy to answer questions about the game if you want, even if I'm a little tired of it at this point as I've been in too much contact with it for the last year since I got to know the author personally...
>>1056960Ah then its time to start posting mech builds again. This is a mecharider called the Boomstick, it has a 20K beam cannon, a 12 SP shield and has 20 MA with -4MV at 140CP, I think It would make a lovely present for Miles.http://pastebin.com/MHBXQKfpand for Brazillia here's the M-Sagiser again: http://pastebin.com/sR0KhwEuIt should be finished now.
>>1056962>>1056966>why dudes didn't just play table top games over the internet on /tg/.Roll20 is your answer.
>>1056962Because most of /tg/ either don't play or have not played in a whileMost QMs, due to the nature of actually writing shit and the broad decision-making part of quests, start turning into writers more than being GMs. The closest thing to real tabletop would be skirmish quests really, but nowadays /tg/ is up in arms about "we're here to DISCUSS tabletop games, not PLAY them", so no games for the foreseeable future
>>1056962They did? To a certain extent. Playing online and by extension /tg/ requires you to adapt for players that may or may not show up and new players that just appear out of nowhere. This leads to games that easily allow drop-in/drop-out like Mecha Mechs Skirmish or Iron Hearts.
Since everyone's talking about their time on 4chan...I shitposted almost religiously over /tg/ and /a/ since 2012 and /b/ since around 2014. I stopped going to 4chan for around a year and only came back in early 2016 because I realized I was cancer incarnate and had a problem since I literally couldn't stop myself from shitposting since I only like to do and say what would be funniest to me, and never cared about what other people thought about that. It's kinda sad now, because I'm becoming worse and worse as time goes on (like when I was fucking with Brazil earlier) but I don't wan't to leave all the quests I'm following.
>>1056969Well, either way here is the F-type again for you look at and slowly go crazy from.http://pastebin.com/sEaULnez
>>1056972>"we're here to DISCUSS tabletop games, not PLAY them">MFW
>>1056960Its okay, its good to just have a chat with the QM online sometimes too.So, Wong... Wasn't the tourney going to happen AFTER the wedding and auction? are you going to time jump that far?
>>1056971>>1056972Its just I know they have game finder threads and had quests which were basically a watered down tabletop game so it always bothered me that people didnt just put up threads where they played a game of DnD or something.>>1056974You'd think you would see it more though. Like I have seen more games of chess in threads than non-quest based tabletop games.

>>1056986Maverick Hunter and Beyond the gate. Wish Totemist was back.
>>1056980which resulted in the birth of /qst/ thanks dumb arses.>>1056982Because games of DnD require continuity. And continuity requires players to keep coming back regularly to reprise their roles. If you can get that, theres no reason to continue it on /tg/ you might as well grab the group and run on irc, which most online groups did before d20. Like #adeva.
>>1056986I only look at this one these days really. /qst/ is a bit overcrowded and slow for me to find others.>>1056988Totemist will be back eventually anon Dairca is clearly some sort of old one.

>>1056972That's part of why /tg/ turned to shit. The other part is that /tg/ kind of abandoned imagination for autism.Let's say, for example, I post a thread about...hmm, something controversial. Female martial characters who don't need no man, for instance. Old /tg/ would have just memed about it, shitposted, bantered, posted tits, and turned it into a lovely discussion of practical armor that somehow morphs into discussing tank tactics in the first World War because someone posted a female Russian tank commander or something. New /tg/ spams report the moment the conversation goes off topic, the OP would be accused of being /pol/, a FOR REAL FEMINIST from reddit would show up to "set these misogynists straight", and it would generally turn into a cancerous clusterfuck.>>1056965I actually learned a lot from that quest. Namely, humor is good, but you need a long-term plan and character progression, and you need to keep the game from turning into a series of stale jokes (which I hope I do well). The one biggest problem I had was that Roarke got OP very quickly, but then I learned how to roll with it because it's in-keeping with the genre and it's honestly kind of fun for me how the Black Ogre is this terrifying thing that people actively train to beat and set up unique protocols for.

>>1056982>Its just I know they have game finder threads and had quests which were basically a watered down tabletop game so it always bothered me that people didnt just put up threads where they played a game of DnD or something. You're misunderstanding something. Roll20 is a result of people wanting to play TTRPGs over the internet. The result is that you get people of the internet in all of its glory to play with you. >>1056994>which I hope I do wellThis is one of the best damn quests I've read in a while man. >>1056998Well that depends. What are your thoughts on Thunderbird, BRanon, myself, and some of the more common posters having their own characters? Because the end result is likely very messy.

>>1057007That is true. Most of you would probably end up set on fire if i had it my way. Still theoretically possible.
>>1056998You've run Mekton Zeta, one of the most insanely complicated TTRPGs, on quest. I'd think D&D would be a walk in a park. The thing is with RPGs meant for group play, forums doesn't really help as you don't know for sure whether your players or the GM is present.
>>1057003Note, MSPQ is probably my favorite quest running now that I've gotten into the mech making system and actually understand stuff.

So you turn our characters in secondary characters that you let us controls when you feel like it, like in small side-quests, to keep a interest on them. Also, you could let us vote on what to produce in the Psyche production lines and suggest designs.... That would let the mechanerds here appeased and going crazy with their designs Ideas...But please put karen to oversee that, or we would go full retard and start to make an army of flying ostichs mounting on tanks equiped with dual BOOMsticks.*Ahem*And you can always create new events like these to keep the interest... just don't exaggerate on it or they will lose effect.Oh, and if our characters survive to the Second generation game... >>1057047The fact that Brazil is ardently pro-Avalon and you're pro-UJCIDF is incredibly encouraging to me, it means I'm showing you correctly how they are in my mind, both sides that someone is willing to fight for and take pride in.

>>1057103More Dame Brazilia x Captain Thunder fanfics, when?
>>1057100Yes, for a few moments. At that point it peters off to 10 MA, which several machines are faster than. The F-type can reach a top speed of 23 MA for longer. Likewise, your armaments are better designed for ranged firing and aiming to compensate for it's slightly worse MV. It's a good machine, but it's not one I would consider pursuit.
>>1057108I mean, they're technically human. Everyone but the Paladins anyway, and even then you could argue they're just modified humans.Fuck the Greenmen though, especially the Lady. People taking away another person's freedom like that triggers me like the nothing else, I can't help but hate someone that does it when I read about it. I don't know if that's because I'm American (albeit a pretty shit one) or if it's just me.Which reminds me of the most recent Starcaller Quest, and that I haven't finished it. It's really good, and gets bonus points because the MC's last name is also Starwind.>>1057115They have boosters? Didn't even look for them.

>>1057083I especially liked these guys, the whole clash between old-fashioned combining mecha aesthetic and newfangled Evangelion-inspired more edgy and tentacleish mecha made it a really good episode. To be honest, they kind of inspired Team Orange Pekoe a little bit.
>>1057119Players overreact and whine like babies about railroading during a session where we justifiably lose all muscle control. That's about it. Didn't even last that long.
>>1057116Nah it isn't just because you're american, but I'm sure that it helps...I feel the same thing about the lady, but the problem is, I don't think that its racional to go full "BURN HER AT THE STAKE!GAS THE KNIGHTS!SYSTEM WAR NOW!" when we still don't know what part she played on the war. There is still many truth to be unraveled, and I'm the type of person to prefer to see all proofs before giving the final judgement... But we can't let her to continue being in power when things are the way they are, and even in the avalonian monarchy, their people should at least have the right to choose to go or stay instead of being all ruled by the monarchy because they just happened to be born there...But I think that there are aspects of the avalonian culture, and maybe even their monarchy, that should be left intact as not everything about them is rotten...But Jupiter has to fall, that thing is just obcene.
>>1057128The best part is the edgy pilot is the guy who voiced Gai from GaoGaiGar. Considering one name for that combiner was Mexican GaoGaiGar, it was pretty neat to find out.
>>1057099The fact that I doubted it for even an instant still shocks me.
>>1057129Oh, I've read it. I was there. I just forgot how to speak English or something. Honestly that guy complaining was real fucking stupid.
>>1057121>Finn as a mentor>Learn esoteric rituals for a dead religion Best choice though it is disconcerting that we can't pick Roarke or his wives as a mentor
>>1057135We are likely having 3 kids for each wife. The hand picked children are probably going to be boss fights.
>>1057132By the way Wong, on a scale of 1 to how much Clemmy loves Roarke, how much do you like Mobile Armor? And would it affect your decision to add a most likely subpar and stupid expensive totally viable and cost effective mobile armor to the quest?
>>1057121>Alexander as a mentor>learn how to avoid ever going into debt.
>>1057121Hm... That could work too. It's just that Yuiyui is Megumin's mother, so i just took my pic from there.Also... I was thinking of one of her children going to the Tourney, if the thing with Victor gets to this point... If not, well... Dutch-senpai suggested on her being a "wizard" to get real magical powers!....Okay, maybe the sleepyness finally caught up with me.Avalonanon and me could also change places of Knight x Mage or Girl and Boy this time also... But I'm thinking too far ahead. What do you think about the production line voting thing? Dutch senpai got the stats for that if I'm not mistaken, the only thing you should do is to giving us a limit amount of CP per production line per day and the number of lines... Then we could vote on whats gets produced in what order...I'm sure people are already going mad with that, as the "BOOMSTICK TANK!" suggestions seem to prove...
>>1057121>Akai as a mentor>Learns special effects, magic tricks, pseudo-occult bullshit, meme magic, old memes, mythology, explosive crafting, how to dress in appropriately for the type of exaggerated attention you want, missile aiming, some actual mechanic and UNENDING WEEABOO CULTURE.
>>1057148Well, the upper limit for what I could call 'cheapish' machines, ones that are in the same level of difficulty as tourney mechs is 225. 5 days to make one of those. After that, the rolls would require more engineers to oversee it which could eat at production. The thing with mechriders is that they are force multipliers, but are also the sort of machines that be easily squandered and taken. Priority should be making mechs that are viable for our vast army of pilots before getting them their accessories.
>>1057129I'm amazed there's only been one accusation of railroading so far in this quest, and if I recall it was when Roarke slept with Red Siren without players getting to vote yea or nay on it and making Karen cry.
>>1057159No, there was also the Amos x Duchess battle... but they easily forgot after we won so easily.
>>1057159But Wong that only made it betterOh so is Jem confirmed for Roarke and Rosita's daughter? I mean it kind of has to happen doesn't it?
>>1057135They don't count. Just as an example, if you pick Clemmy (which makes your gen 2 character Dio), you'll have all kinds of fond, terrifying memories of mom teaching you how to headbutt people and cut someone open without getting your sword caught on the bones.

>>1057162Oh no, you all voted for that against my warning you that no punches were going to be pulled and that it could very easily lead to Garret and Amos getting captured. It actually substantially changed the direction of the Amos story, because there was no longer the Berenger as this monstrous Pyramid Head-esque nemesis lurking outside the safety of Innsmouth.

>>1057192Oh yeah, Dutchman anon gave Brazil a heart attack because of that. The errata in the back of Zeta Plus corrects the original book (which didn't give tanks -1 MV) and thought it was for the Plus book. >>1058668Is my internet working? OR everyone has just been silent?
You're a bit busy digging Simon and the S-Squilla out of the rubble with your mecha to notice when they first show up. In fact, you only become aware of them when a Morgan II taps the Delphinius on the pauldron, salutes, and politely hails you with a request to return to the ship. That's when you notice that there are rather a lot more mecha than there are aboard the Cicero and Cassim's Folly in the air, and even the Bluegills aren't quite as elderly as those of the Innsmouth gendarmes. Each has a fresh coat of paint, and a purple stripe drawn diagonally across its chest like a bandolier. Garret, for some reason, groans when he sees them, “I really hoped he'd show up later than this.” He mutters. Which, of course, gives you the immediate suspicion that Colonel Luxol has arrived...ahead of schedule. A medical tank rolls up on its chubby caterpillar treads, dispensing medical personnel who help the Bluegill pilots onto stretchers and begin searching for other survivors.Simon ejects from his mech, and you carry him back to the ship in your hand, where you see a fresh new Pangassius-class cruiser of the same make as the Cicero parked in the field, along with a pair of larger Channel-class heavy cruisers. From the names emblazoned on their hulls, you mark the small one as the Suetonius, and the two larger ones as the Archimedes and Petronius. Each has a diagonal purple stripe across the bow, matching the mecha buzzing around them. Although the devastation from the earthquake looks terrible, the relief effort seems thorough and well-organized. Hospital tents have been set up, and there's a steady stream of traffic to and from them. You've never met Colonel Trevor Luxol, Garret's older brother, but already you're impressed by the fact that his first order of business has been to handle a crisis. “Anyone hurt?” Marilyn questions over the comms as she gives you clearance to land. She's dressed somewhat awkwardly, wearing a pair of mechanic's coveralls over her casual clothes, and although you know she's being a bit informal you can understand her concern, “After a certain girl launched without permission coughNEDERMEYERcough, I got worried, yaknow?” “We're all fine, Lin.” Garret promises her, “We got Simon out of there safe and did what we could to minimize the damage.”“That's good, but, uh, you've been ordered to report to the bridge. Everyone but Cathy.” She hastily adds the last part before Nedermeyer can ask.Well, you're a soldier, so you do as you're told.[Continued]

Getting a feeling that Fairchild's star is starting to wane.

The moment she uses that blackmail a lot of brass is going to be very fucking interested in what she does know, and that could be just as bad, if not worse, than any punishment she might get from this fiasco.
>>1058917And then you have Roarke and the fact someone might just pay him to take care of her and get her out of everybody's hair
You do see Marilyn run up and nearly knock Garret off his feet with a hug on your way out the door. You pretend not to see him hug her back, and you definitely don't listen in on what they're saying to each other. You know it all too well. Irina joins you on your way to the bridge, looking nervous. She squeezes your hand, and asks you quietly on the lift to the bridge, “Do you know where that Martian went after he dropped us off?”“Who? Oh, the young officer, right, him. No, weren't you and the Fleurs the last ones to see him?” You ask, wondering what she's getting at.She snorts, “Officer? That's a fine term for it. If you see him again, arrest him.” She's scowling. You blink at her, “On what charges, exactly? He helped us out, remember?”Her scowl deepens. “Space piracy. He tried to talk to me after you left, and...made me an offer. I told him to go deliver it to Pluton.”“Well, if he tried flirting with you, I'm obligated to rough him up, but that's hardly space piracy.” You object. She growls slightly, “It had to do with my sister. He's associated with her somehow.”You sigh heavily, “Alright, if I see him again, I'll try to bring him in.”“W-what are you guys talking about?” Simon asks innocently.“Nothing. Don't eavesdrop, it makes your ears grow big.” Irina tsks, tugging sharply on Simon's ear, “I'm glad you're not hurt, but I'm not looking forward to any heat I'm going to take from this. Corporate politics are as cutthroat as the Avalonians.”With a polite little ding, the lift arrives, the doors hissing smoothly open. You make your way to the bridge, where Captain Clearwater is staring moodily out through the ships monitors. Two female bridge officers, both native Qu'liri with the feline ears and tails, are fussing over him. One is fixing his hair with a brush, the other is holding up a hand mirror so the first can examine her work properly. You do a brief double-take, “Captain, wait, those two were with the...” The last time you saw them, they were wearing maid uniforms and brandishing guns. The Captain waves it off, “They're loyal citizens who volunteered for duty, I made sure of it. You're not rebels anymore, right lovelies?” He smiles sunnily.“Myaaa~ We were horribly misled.” The first says, nodding. The second clasps her hands together over her chest, “We just wanted to get closer to the Captain! We didn't want anybody to get hurt, honest!”The Captain examines his hair, and nods, “That will do, girls. Run along now.”They both curtsy, and scamper off, giggling.[Continued]

>>1058930>Hey, Roarke, could you come and deal with our little Fairchild problem?>"Fuck no, she causes so much shit at home it makes you guys more disorganized and easier to rob."And then he proceeds to do it anyway.
>>1058937>Corporate politics are as cutthroat as the Avalonians.”>tfw so far the Avalonians have been more upfront overall than the UJCIDFWelp.
>>1058917I think her going full 'taking you down with me' is the best option for any upstart. Fairchild got to where she was because she is pretty heavily tied and had a lot of push. Dragging out a lot of veterans to put in her people. All it takes is someone going, 'I know how corrupt she is, if you help me in this and that, I'll get your seat back from her group.' and they will have support. Especially if she fucks up a major event like say.. negotiations.>>1058930That can go so many ways, but the best would be agreeing to his claims for the short term and tie up some loose ends in regards to Fairchild. He gets his revenge, his small kingdom, his wives, and any idiot who ventures into reach gets their limbs bitten off.

Captain Clearwater sees you staring, smiles, and shrugs, “Everyone deserves a second chance. They didn't quite understand where the line was between agitating for better conditions and committing an act of terrorism. I probably wouldn't have been able to recruit them if you hadn't handled things so adroitly, Lieutenant. Marilyn is keeping tabs on them, if they're contacting the rebels we'll be the first to know, and maybe we can use that for ourselves.” His smile fades as he looks out at the hospital tents, “What a mess this is. There shouldn't even be earthquakes in this region. Thank goodness the Colonel got our distress signal.”As the doors to the bridge start to close, you see a small party of MPs and a tall, straight-backed man with an impeccably crisp purple-and-white uniform walking forward. One of the MPs hurries up and waves his hand between the doors to stop them from closing. The Colonel, and from his uniform this must be he, does bear a lot of resemblance to Garret. He's handsome, with short, sandy hair, bushy eyebrows, and an aquiline nose. A black halfcape hangs over his left shoulder. “My apologies for my tardiness, gentlemen, I had to acquire the footage from Lieutenant Wedge's mech. It's a fine machine, my boy.” He smiles as you all exchange salutes. Then he grins, and hugs Garret, mussing his hair, “Little Gary! Don't you look so grown up!”“Stoppit.” Garret pleads, shoving at his older brother, “Lemmego!”“Nonsense!” The Colonel chuckles, getting out his PC, throwing his arm around the Ensign, and flashing a radiant grin as he snaps a picture of the two of them, “This is going straight to father...and probably to JNN, at some point. Matthias!” Trevor Luxol grins, “How long has it been since the Academy, eh? I remember you used to have quite the cricket pitch. Still keeping your hand in?”Captain Clearwater shrugs, “Much as I'd like to blame the occasional sticky wicket, I'm afraid I've gone all to rust.”“Nonsense, old boy! I'm sure you're just playing modest.” The Colonel chuckles. The bridge has been cleared for this meeting, so he grabs the helmsman's chair and takes a seat, adjusting the cavalry saber at his side to fit comfortably, “First things first.” He gestures, and one of the MPs sets up the bridge's main screen to display the view from the S-Delphinius as it entered combat with the S-Squilla, “Forgive me for starting in media res, but I had a chance to review the security camera footage from the building site on my way up here.“...How did you do that?” The Captain asks, looking impressed. The Colonel looks at him askance, then shakes his head, “Apparently, some things never change.”[Continued]

Irina looks like she's just eaten a fistful of crabapples as she watches the S-Squilla tear its way through buildings, and sees the three mecha on your side shooting it down. The Colonel watches with his fingers steepled and an intent expression on his face. Simon, who you talked out of requesting the chance to take responsibility for this mess, just looks ill. Finally, Colonel Luxol sighs, and pauses the footage after the S-Squilla throws itself over the downed pilots to protect them, “Well then. I admit, I thought this was a foolhardy endeavor from the beginning, I never expected to produce results on this scale.” He frowns, “Wasn't the first live-weapons test to begin in a month?”Irina's mouth sounds dry as she responds, but her voice is steady, “The General believed speeding things up would mean a valuable weapon would reach the battlefield sooner, sir.”The Colonel tsks, “How unsurprising. Such an inelegant woman, I suppose she thought it would be impressive that it was produced ahead of schedule. Still, it's unlikely she'll suffer any consequences from this, even if her worth has become less pronounced of late. Unfortunately, my sources tell me that her trip back to the Solar System is a personal matter and should be resolved in a couple of days. Something about a burglary at her home.” For some reason, he smiles, “You'd think someone with half of the senate in her pocket would have better security, wouldn't you?” He glances at Simon, “You're shaking. Why?”“People died because of me, sir.” Simon admits. The Colonel shakes his head, “It's a pity, but it won't be the last time, particularly if you intend to command someday. I'm reassured by your expression, my boy, you won't ever forget that they died, and why, and because of that you will assuredly learn and grow from it. Victory is the greatest tribute to those who have fallen. It looks as though you were able to gain control of the S-Squilla by the end, and because you are the only pilot to do so, and because we still aren't sure if the Paladins imprint on one user or can be piloted by anyone, we cannot risk an adverse reaction from reassigning a more experienced operator to it. For that matter, I wouldn't want to, it fits your fighting style neatly. Consider your punishment to be continuing to pilot the S-Squilla. Never, ever forget why you fight. A man's personal baggage is less important than his cause. Garret, your shooting could use some work. Your punishment is to spend time with me at the range, getting some practice in. As for Master Sergeant Nedermeyer, she's a bit rash but shows a great deal of promise, I see no cause for disciplinary measures there.” He clears his throat, “The Paladins are a mystery, for all we know this happens every time a new one is taken on its maiden journey. That you achieved command of it at all is a remarkable feat, Ensign Biggs. Do accept my commendation on that count.”[Continued]

The other two were Cima Garahau and Selvaria Bles, both of whom were rejected because I wanted Kathrine and Red Siren's relationship to be amusing but friendly, not abusive and unappreciated.Though personally I think Selvaria makes a better Mappa then Carta Issue does.

Irina frowns, “Sir, doesn't the UJCIDF still have the Berenger? I would have thought that the chance to study it might have made the Paladins less mysterious, even if I just so happen to have been left off the panel in charge of investigating it.”The Colonel shrugs, “We, or rather General Fairchild, do have the Paladin shot down by your Lieutenant Wedge. However, nothing we have done to it seems to have the slightest effect when it comes to activating it. The working theory is that it's due to residual damage from the Lieutenant's missile, however it's also quite possible that the Duchess herself sabotaged it when she was taken. She was, I understand, alone in the cockpit for some time. However, this too presents problems, there is no sign of visible damage. It could be that we simply don't understand how she put it into sleep mode, or it could be that there is a piece missing, some component of its activation that continues to elude us.”“She isn't talking, is she sir?” You ask, unsurprised.“No, not even with the utterly distasteful methods General Fairchild has resorted to as of our last communication. She believes it will take more time for the Paladin to crack and reveal the secrets of her mech, but I am of the opinion that it is wasted effort that does nothing but salve her own sense of impotence. From what we do know, Duchess Carnegie is not just a Paladin, she is among the oldest and most strong-willed Paladins. Torture is nothing to her, particularly since our government is at this time unwilling to damage her permanently, and I hear unsubstantiated reports that she amuses herself tormenting her jailers with mind games. Now, a younger and more vulnerable Paladin with something to lose might yield more results, which is currently causing some controversy in the Senate over what they are actually willing to pay for one. Assuming she's for sale at any price.” The Colonel leans back in his chair, smiling, “Well, that's a matter for the General, I'm just here to win the battle for this planet so we can all turn our attention to more productive things.”“What about the commander of the Avalonian forces, sir?” You question, “I know he's still at large, but now that we control the space around Qu'lir, we have him trapped, don't we?”“Ah yes.” Captain Clearwater nods, “Lucas Ford of the Gerer.”“Gerer?” Irina frowns, “I thought it was the Gerin.”“All in all, there are too many Gers among the Paladins.” The Colonel remarks, “I rather wish they had gone with the Orlando Furioso names, but it seems the Lady of the Woods is a fan of the original French. Ce la vie. It is the Gerin, by the way."[Continued]
