More Garry's Mod Postan

So, Garry's Mod's been a lot of fun lately; usually the game outlives its novelty after a day or two, but playing with a number of friends and using cool maps really makes a hell of a difference. The amount of shit you can do with it when you factor mods into the equation extends its entertainment value by orders of magnitude.
Speaking of which, I think it's time for a new post that has updated information about all the mods and maps we've been using lately. Some of these addons require SVN to download, so get Tortoise SVN. Once installed, right-click your desktop, choose SVN Checkout from the list, and enter the URL provided in the entry. You'll connect to the SVN server and download the latest copy of all the files. When you're done, just move it to garrysmod/garrysmod/addons. You can update your copy at any time by right-clicking the folder and choosing SVN Update.
And now, the list (last updated 4/14/09):
- Zombie Forest (zm_zombieforest_b7): This is an incredible map. It's a very large, dark, rainy, spooky forest full of logs and boards from broken shacks and gravestones and the like. The idea is to play without spawning anything, just use the available resources to build a makeshift bunker to protect you when the zombies come. They can randomly appear at any time between 24 and 30 minutes after the start of the map, and when you're dead, you're out of the game (unless you noclip and cheat, but that's cheating!), making it very important to construct a solid defense. Phenomenal design, highly recommended.
- gm_wireconstruct_rc: Mentioned below, this is an awesome map for general building. Huge map with train tracks, water, missile-building platforms, all manner of stuff in a clean and friendly environment.
- rp_zombiesurvival: Fun map with constantly-spawning zombies in a town full of a lot of interesting buildings. Wears thin after a while but fun for a time!
- gm_trainconstruct2: Nice train map with water, pretty big, looks cool.
- gm_bigcity: Massive cityscape. Likely great for zombie modes or running around on buildings and shit.
- Harbor2Ocean_Beta1 and Harbor2Ocean_Naval1: Night and day versions of a truly massive ocean-based map. Great for undersea exploration.
Waterworld: Another ocean map... with treasure! Shitty
- rp_lakeside_v4: A nice big lake with a coastal town.
- Weightstool 1.4: Allows you to set the weight of objects.
- SmartSnap - Nifty snapping tool overlays a grid so you can easily manipulate objects to weld them without a hassle.
- Phoenix-Storms 3 - Massive collection of awesome models. SVN client required.
- WireMod - Advanced stuff for GMod, from useful (creating controllable winches) to advanced (making a roaming rocket-firing auto-targeting turret out of blocks) to esoteric (in-game routers sending packets and shit to each other). Necessary for GCombat and most truly useful stuff, and it comes with Advanced Duplicator, which lets you save your work and upload it to any server. This also requires SVN; on this one, username/password is anonsvn/anonsvn.
- GCombat08 and GCombat Extended: Destructible environment stuff, tons of cool weapons from SAMs to nebelwefers to laser cannons. Great fun, lots of fire and doom. Requires SVN.
- Simple Weather Mod V1: Client-side mod that adds a bunch of weather effects. Pretty spiffy, the "storm" setting makes any map instantly creepy. (OPTIONAL)
- Dragon Snpc: Totally optional, but totally bitchin' dragon from Might and Magic. (OPTIONAL)
New Rules, and sup/v/ moarliek amirite

First the light stuff: We've been playing a lot of games recently, and the topic is getting ridiculously long, so here's the breakdown:
- MisterSyn has a new TF2 server at syn-li.game-server.cc:27015 so enjoy it. It is not my server for shit's sake don't complain to me if there's a problem goddamnit
- We have a supergroup in City of Villains on Virtue, The Morality League (time-traveling Victorian-era supervillains). Come join us~
- Despite no SDK available, there are some custom maps for Left4Dead which we may use at some point. Check them out here
- We'd like to play some GMod tonight, I want to build a multi-car failtrain and take on zombies in terrifying underground tunnels. Get gm_wireconstruct_rc and PhoeniX's Premium Model Pack to join us (GMod 10 required)
I think that covers the gaming. Now on to more serious stuff: /tg/ is not /b/-lite or /d/ — Monster Girls, and neither is #suptg. We've all been pretty laid back about topics and discussions, but Jesus Christ, conversations about the perfect position in which to fuck a futa is the breaking point.
It should have gone without saying, but I guess we need a rule now just to make it clear for everyone: No more porn discussions, /d/ shit or talking about your goddamned fetishes or announcing your intent to or current activity of masturbation. Are we trying to make the IRC worksafe? No, that's stupid. It's just making clear what should have been unwritten social rules, which in hindsight is probably too much to expect given this is a companion site to a board on 4chan.
Again, this doesn't mean we're completely outlawing all discussion relating to certain topics. It just means we don't want to fucking hear about your sex life and sexual proclivities. Are you a furry? Foot fetishist? Dogfucker? Necrophiliac? That's nice. Just don't tell the rest of us when you're sneaking off to the morgue to rub yourself on your lucky dog's paw.
We may have a few other rules coming up but that's the major one. It's not that much to ask, it's just sad it has to be asked out loud at all.
