War! Huh! What is it good for? Well so far about half a years worth of quest threads, some nice drawfaggotry and the invention of the worlds largest flashbang dispensor, but I digress.

You are Lt. Commander David Lister, ace mobile suit pilot for the Principality of Zeon. As commander of the MS component of the elite independant corps: The Nachtmaren Unit you've been trying to curb the federations advance into the US through Mexico.

    This brings us to today.

After a battle in Chihuahua followed by taking on some Mobile Suits in Don Martin, you are currently fighting the enemy forces laying siege to the city of Nuevo Laredo.

Well, not JUST you, there's a full battalion of Mobile Suits here as well, plus armour and infantry.

Yesterday, battle was joined and you quickly managed to take advantage of the enemy revealing their heavy battleship to you by punching through the enemy lines and taking them both out. Most of the enemy attackers pulled back, however over the intercom your recon specialist Calvin Hobart relayed the following:

    >"Good Job Commander, most of the attacks are now pulling back! However were getting reports that an enemy raiding team has broken through the defensive line and is causing havoc in the defence zone. What are your orders?"

    >> Researcher Sam 03/13/10(Sat)12:15 No.8563553
So they thought it'd be a good idea to send a small force right into our most heavily defended place? Wow, feddie tactics these days seem... lacking. Get all units to converge on the raiding team. Jolyne and Hovis should get there first, right? Since we left them at the edge of the line when we went for the first Big Tray, and they should still be there. So have them move to engage, while we hoof it.
    >> Anonymous 03/13/10(Sat)12:15 No.8563565
    I ask:

"Any recon on the enemy raiding team? Coordinates?"

What sort of raiding team? Infantry?

We do still have those Hooverbikes with rocket launchers around, don't we? I'd say it's time to put them to some use.

Find out if it's to the north or to the south of us. If it's to the North they may be trying to make a run for the bridge to secure it.

Also get back to the defensive line a do a quick check on our Suit damage and ammo stores.

Their last known position was after they took out an AA camp roughly 2 KM east of the defence line. They were able to break through after eenmy Depp Roggs dropped cluster bombs and high explosives to breach the defense wall and to spread chaos.

It's believed that they are currently operating within the area that I have marked.

Oh hey, that's close to where Hovis and Jolyne are. Have them go in with the local forces to take them out. Us, Zol and Elaine make best speed back too, though with any luck by the time we get there the others will have taken care of the threat.

    >The final prong is a force of high speed light vehicles mounting unguided AT and A-MS weapons, they appear to be trying to breach the defences with supporting bombers escorted by TinCods so that this raiding force can breach the defensive line and assault the positions behind. Alright. Use our Artillery to contain them as the Nachtmaren moves to encircle and destroy them. Also, if we pass any friendly units on the way see if we can't grab some fresh ammo for our 'zooks. Get Calvin to start relaying targeting telemetry to Jol and Hovis.

As for the Air assets, can we rotate one of our Dopp squadrons to hit them as we move to engage? Dopps should be able to deal with Tin Cods, and that could easily mean us destroying or forcing off those Depp Roggs. If not, drop some Arty into their formations to at least disrupt them while we deal with this Raiding Unit.

With the Federation forces retreating you're able to make it back over the wall realitvely quickly and unharmed.

Once over the wall you take stock of your ammo and damage.
You: MS-09 Dom (Light Damage) (4 Shots left in your Bazooka, no reloads, no panzerfausts. Near full ammo for 90mm)
Elaine: MS-09 Dom (Moderate damage, right arm non functional, she took an artillery shell to the arm whilst trying to zip past it, the shoulder pauldron took most of it. same ammo status as you.)
Zolomon: MS-07B-3 (Light damage, 50% Gatling Ammo remaining. 100% Triple-35mm ammo)

Jolyne: MS-09K2 (No damage, 75% shoulder cannon ammo remaining)
Hovis: Rhino (No damage, 90% ammo remaining.)

There is an ammo dump within 5 minutes travel, and a repair bay at 10 minutes. Delays will widen the search area however.

    >> Anonymous 03/13/10(Sat)12:47 No.8563974
Can we get Elaine to give us an estimate on how long a basic field repair on her right arm would be?
    >> Arty 03/13/10(Sat)12:49 No.8564001
Ok, repairing an arm would take awhile, longer than we probably have to contain the feddies atm. Elaine should be able to handle combat against light vehicles one handed as long as she just uses the 90mm.

As long as we dont run into anything overly large we should be fine with our MG ammo stores.
    >> Anonymous 03/13/10(Sat)12:50 No.8564013

Have Elaine give unload her zook and give us the rounds thats 30 seconds work at most. 8 rounds (7 if getting the chambered one out is impossible) will be plenty for infantry when we have a full 90mm.

Aside from that send Elaine to the repair bay to get her arm operational while David and Zol go hunting.

Also Calvin's top priority is to get Hovis and Jol are fire soloution on the raiders even at the expence of the front line arty fire.
    >> I apologised on 4chan !!O1JS15Z6lxy 03/13/10(Sat)12:53 No.8564061

Okay, you can have Calvin run you ammo from his Dodai or you can have him spotting for the artillery teams.

Also, I don't think that strapping high explosives to the outside of the Rhinoceros is a good idea.
Or one that Hovis is likely to go for considering that explosive rockets too close to his person is how he lost the Hildorfr and his leg.

Now, here's the local area map, as stated before the blue area represents the suspected possible area that the enemy could be in, or made it too.
The red stars represent Flak Nests, the one crossed out is the one that the Raiding party have just taken out.
The shield symbols represent redoubt areas, trenches and bunkers that the defending forces on the wall are to retreat back to if their position becomes untenable.

The towers are the artillery sites.

You incidentally will be coming in from the north.
As for terrain, it's a mix between light and heavy tree cover scored with dirt roads. The northern half is heavy tree cover, the southern half light tree cover although the southern hald does have the occaisional gorge and depression that makes aerial spotting difficult.

If the enemy are using the roads they'll be easy to spot simply from their dust trails, although it IS 4pm and as the light gets worse from herein, those trails will get harder to spot.

They'd need some hefty punch to break through our lines like this, so I'd be there's at least one enemy MS team in there. Most likely Ground GMs, but I wouldn't discount more of the Ground Gundams somewhere in their roster here.
    >> Researcher Sam 03/13/10(Sat)13:22 No.8564381

Doesn't necessarily mean an enemy MS team didn't slip through the gap in our lines, but the general trend is for sending Calvin to spot for Arty. It's a sound decision either way, and if there is something that actually requires serious force to deal with, he can potentially spot it before we get there, and we can engage accordingly.
    >> Anonymous 03/13/10(Sat)13:47 No.8564650
sending calvin for recon is definitely the best idea. If we do run into enemy MS without warning we should at least have a hefty speed advantage to regroup and rearm/summon help if necessary.

I'm not expecting The Gundam at all, but it still pays to be cautious. We know the Federation has limited production runs of MS by now, and this is a major offensive after all. We've reached the point in the war when we should start expecting enemy MS in every major engagement we take part in.

Anyway, with the support team behind you and Calvin providing recon, you move south to try and intercept the federation raiding forces.

You enter the zone on the look out for any enemy movements.

"No sign of enemy forces so far, all friendly forces and encampments in this area are in high alert and I'm linked in with most of them." Calvin reports.

The area here is heavily wooded, troops can easily wait in ambush if you aren't careful.
A friendly AA encampment and Redoubt zone will be coming up on your left shortly.

    >> Researcher Sam 03/13/10(Sat)14:18 No.8565147

Cautious advance. Have Hovis and Jol ready to drop Arty on anywhere we take fire from in an instant's notice. Move in along our lines, then head into the gap near the area where we lost the AA unit. If they haven't attacked another of our camps yet, they're probably operating in that zone.
    >> Anonymous 03/13/10(Sat)14:20 No.8565198
We did leave the Torso of the captured/damaged Gundam with our Ship heading for California right?

As for dealing with this tactical situation, while encircling them and pinning their force down is a good idea don't forget the strategic picture! It's just a small force ment to distract / delay us from their main force. I'm not even sure that we should be dealing with it.
Then again it's getting dark and we might need some rest/repair time.

True, but we could be harassing their retreat, knocking out a couple of dozen tanks would be worth more than these light attack forces.

You pass by the AA posts and redoubt, they report no signs of the enemy.
You cautiously head south through the trees. Though providing excellent cover, travelling through them with wheeled vehicles would still be trecherous, slowing the speed that the raiding force could go.

You eventually come to a crossroads. You cant see any movement either way, and there's still no sign of the enemy from the air either.

    >> Researcher Sam 03/13/10(Sat)14:33 No.8565424
Eh, even if they do regroup, they've lost their artillery support and a bunch of their tanks. If were a feddie raiding force, I'd try to get to something important and blow it up. I bet they're going to try to get through this defense net and try to break through the back of our lines. If that's the case, they'll probably continue East to try and get through the space between the two bunker sites where there's only an AA emplacement. And they'll need speed, so they'll probably keep to the roads.

Keep heading south. We'll approach a wider road, I'll bet that's where they're going.

You order Hovis and Jolyne to flush them out with artillery fire whilst you switch to IR and head down the road.
A nearby Artillery site begins shelling the area as well.

You carefully move down the track scanning with IR, heavy explosions rock the forest, parts of it are on fire. Hopefully it wont spread to badly like it did in Don Martin, but it's not like your using napalm like the enmy did back then.

Eventually you are rewarded with several Jeeps and a Command Hovertank crossing over the road about 100m in front of you. You fire off a spray with your 90mm and move to the side to allow Zolomon and Elaine to do the same. Your fire takes out a couple of the jeeps, you aren't able to tell if the other two made any kills the enemy has escaped into the forest on the other side of the road.

They appear to be heading SSE, the game is afoot!

Alert all forces in the area. Calvin keeps circling the forest in case any more come out. Artillery keeps on the pressure, see if we can get a Zaku Tank to come over with some ammunition pellets for Jolyne and Hovis. Us, Zol and Elaine follow the jeeps and hovertank.

You quickly advance towards the enemy forces as they retreat. An enemy A/MS missile streaks out, and you hunker down to deflect the blow. You rock in your seat and the computer squeals warning tones at you as the missile breaches your armour and punches a small hole in the area between your Dom's head and shoulder. It's a glancing hit however and nothing important is damaged. You return fire into the forest spraying the area with 90mm shells.
Behind you the other team members open fire as well, trees are shredded, dust and dirt are flung into the air. Some more missiles are flung your way, but you're all keeping mobile and none of them strike home.

At the end of it the smoke clears to reveal several smoking wrecks and an immobilised command tank. You can't see any surviving forces and the crew of the Command Tank have dismounted and are surrendering.

You have two platoons of Mechanised infantry come and pick them up.

After they're led away you receive a call from Captain Breda of the 108th. She informs you that it looks like the enemy have pulled back for now. They're still out there in the distance, but aren't making any agressive moves for now.
It looks like your successful attacks on the Land Battleships have put them on the defensive, since it appear that they have some breathing space, you are ordered back to the defence HQ to rearm and repair.

You plan to make several hit and run raids on the on the federations forces southern flank before pressing on to investigate that northern contact.

You wait until dusk, which is at 8:00pm before leaving. You dash across the lightly wooded area, the dark covers you and the sparse terrain makes for good going.

You see the flood lights of enemy positions, and the flames with troops warming their hands. You dash in close, the enemy spot you but you fire off your bazooka into the midst of the formation.
The explosion sends light vehicles and a couple of tanks into the air, you dash off as sirens begin wailing. You keep up this rate of fire as you dash across the line, tanks and man portable weapons fire about you, but you weather the storm and after 10 minutes of high speed jinking and shooting you make it to the end of their lines.

You've all sustained some damage, Zolomon taking the worst of it as his Gouf isn't as fast. He's lost his shield again and his armours sporting cracks and chips. Otherwise he's still fully functional however.

You dash east trying to outrun the sonar signal. Damn this thing is fast, you don't recall the last Morlock you chased to have been going that fast...

You call Calvin ahead and ask him to compare the seismic signal against that of the Morlock you encountered earlier... this week wasn't it?

    Man, it feels longer.

"Confirmed! I've got a 95% match in seismic signal, except we've got a four way doppler effect and it seems to be sped up about 5 times. It's definately a drill ship of SOME description sir! I've signalled the defences forces everyones being put on full alert as we speak!"

"Keep yourself in the air, and if Zolomon's not back, tell him to forget about repair, just get a new shield and make do!" You order.

find out when the sonar station first got the strange contact.

Send out urgent warning to all other positions along the defense line about the new Feddie tactic. If they hear the same sort of signal, they need to know what to expect.

More immediately: we slam into and through the Feddies from behind, using heat saber and 90mm to carve our way through them. Then we follow that battleship through the tunnels. We can't afford to let it unload its troop complement behind us.

You dash forwards, trying to beat the enemy before they reach the breach, suddenly the ground in front of you surges upwards and you jink to the side to avoid the underground explosion. Then the entire tunnel that the drill must have been using collapses sending dirt into the the air, both you and Elaine struggle to stay standing, in the confusion you and the enemy actually manage to cross each others path without noticing and come out on the other side.

You reach the walls and can see that the tunnel as well as several underground rivers have collapse, destroying several roads and who knows what else. Evidently the drill ship was using an underground river system to navigate. Hence it's speed.

You dash over the wall and up to the drills second entry point. It's speed should be reduced now at least, you see several Zaku's moving up to defend the breach.Shells and unguided missiles barrage the breach zone though as the federation attempt to widen the gap and break through.
You see a Zaku go down missing it's head from an artillery shell as you leap into the gaping hole, narrowly avoiding the enemy shells.

Inside the tunnel you dash ahead, the roof of it occaisionaly sending plumes of dust downwards in a worrying fashion. After five minutes you see the flaring of rockets, evidently this morlock uses some kind of rocket propulsion to give it speed.
You take aim and fire your Bazooka. The blast knocks out the engine and crumples most of the rear end, the battleship suddenly banks upwards onto the surface before slamming down on the ground. The tunnel begins to collapse. You and Elaine race forwards narrowly missing rocks and dirt as you leap outside.

You are now facing the Federation Drill Battleship. The insignia "MORLOCK 00P" are emblazeoned on it's side. The rocket booster ejects itself before it explodes in a firery blast.
The ship's side doors open and tanks are beginning to exit.

However I would like to point out we still have our flares for precision artillery targeting, thus I say we light it up with green flares.

You take aim at the exiting tanks and fire. The blast takes out three in the close confines. The Morlock is moving again, although it is now on fire. You concentrate fire on the Morlock as it attempts to flee, its 4 drills spinning.
A 150mm shell rocks your Dom spoiling your aim, a squad of tanks, launched from the other side of the Morlock.

"Don't worry about them, I'll take care of them!" Elaine says as she engages them.

You turn your attention back to the Morlock only to see it bearing down upon you, it's one good rocket firing. You fire your bazooka at it, but the drill seems to take it without even flinching, you jink to the side to avoid it, but you aren't quick enough and the right hand drills brush against you.
Your leg and bazooka are shredded in the encounter and your suit falls over, sparks fly from your computer console, the computer screams warnning signals shrilly at you and your monitors flicker erratically. You shield your face from the sparks.

You see the Morlock turning around for another pass, you struggle to lift yourself up, draw your 90mm but the controls are none-responsive.
And then, Zolomon Ringo, in a MS07B-3 Gouf Custom painted like a skeleton leaps into the air behind it.

His heat rod lashes out, connects with the rocket booster and discharges itself.
The rocket explodes with tremendous concussive force, the entire battleship is rocked to the side.
On fire, smoke billowing from it, Zolomon lands on top of it, pulls out his Shotgun and discharges everything he has: Chaingun Shield, 35mm Wrist Vulcan, Shotgun, into it's hide.

Enemy forces in Chihuahua never left the city after taking 50% casualites in combat with the Nachtmaren unit. Due to their proximity however, forces stationed at Juarez and Tucson remained in those positions to respond should they move out.

On the eastern front, the Federation forces, harrassed constantly by the Mand Angler unit eventually reached the city of Tucson. They were bogged down by siegeworks and when the defence forces from Mexicali and Tijuana ambushed them on both flanks the federation forces surrendered.

Roughly 900 federation soldiers were taken as POW's, and the battle was considered an astounding victory.

This marked the end of the Federation counter assault into the america's from Jaburo. Although the federation had made some gains: Reclaiming Chihuahua principally, the fact that it was unable to breach Zeons "Rio-Grande Defence Line" meant that it was classed as a failure.
What the Federation didn't know was the assault had stretched Zeon to a near breaking point.

I'm not sure if they could even hold Chihuahua. With those sorts of losses, and given Mexican geography, they're at too much risk of Zeon forces cutting them off and destroying them. I think that at best, they might be able to hold at Zacatecas. At worst, they have to pull back to the start line for the offensive.

And if they wait to move out of Chihuahua, we should be able to surround them; the forces at Juarez and Matamoros are still completely fresh, and the Tijuana and Mexicali forces probably took minimal losses. With that force at only half-strength? Zeon can easily take it.

So all in all, this should be a nightmarish defeat for the Feddies: at best, they get half a division out, and they can't hold on to any of their temporary gains. On the heels of the damage to Jaburo, their morale would be in the crapper.
    >> Anonymous 03/13/10(Sat)20:27 No.8571091

So in review, we've just defeated the forces that would have kicked Zeon out of NA.

The question is what has this done to feddie troop placements. If the full scale assault on Odessa goes ahead this presumably should leave jaburo poorly defended. If the feds remove troops from the european theatre to defend jaburo the losses from odessa with any luck go down.

Best plan that springs to mind is a second stab a Jaburo, if the feds can be scared enough to heavily shore up mexico odessa can possibly be stoped altogether.

In character that would be another strike at Jaburo while retaliation would be light due to defeating this feddie push rather than fucking with the battle of odessa.

The hard part will be Jaburo's airpower.

    TO: Captain Char Aznable

As per our earlier discussion we've agreed to your personnel demands. The Docks in Solomon report that one Musai to your specifications has been constructed. We've also allotted a full Zaku team under your command as well.
Unfortunately due to a repair bottleneck, we are unable to supply your unit with F2 models, and due to time constraints, refitting is not an option and the Musai hangar lacks the capacity to do so in transit. Nevertheless, all evidence from the Nachtmaren's encounters suggest that your team should be able to handle an enemy Mobile Suit if it comes to combat.

Which I must again stress is a sub-optimal resolution, simple data gathering on this mission would be satisfactory, obtaining the prototypes for ourselves would be the ideal, but only if possible.

I wish you the best of luck in your mission.

Well, the forces that came out of Alaska and Northern Canada after Odessa are untouched.

But yeah, the ones that came up through Mexico in canon were probably the units we just annihilated.

And unless they have an entire fresh army right behind the one they lost, the Feddies aren't going to be able to hold Mexico. They might be able to hold at the isthmus west of the Yucatan, but more likely they'd fall all the way back to the Panama Canal, where they actually would be able to prepare a defensive line before we started overrunning their positions.

I can write a short Omake of an idea I just had. I'm a decent writefag.

The unsteady up and down gait reminded David Lister of El Muerto Gigante. Wondering how Ookawara was taking care of his old ride, he wistfully looked around the small scale devastation that was the remains of his Dom's cockpit. Then, after sneezing for the fourth time due to the hideous ozone-smoke of burnt electronics, he finally toggled the manual hatch release. As he opened it, a quiet, strange music filled his ears. The bass was low, made of drums and slow occasional piano. Then came Zol's voice: "When the shit jumps off what the fuck you gonna do
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta"

David cocked his head for a moment, and radioed "Zolomon what the fuck is that?" There was a pause, with another voice carrying on where Zol left off. "Whatsamatter bossman? I save your skin and I don't get to pick the song?" David sighed. "Carry on, Ringo." He could almost hear Zol's smile as he returned to singing along. And, after a moment and a shrug, David began humming with the tune...

That leaves another question as to what does the situation in northern canada look like?

My memory is based on the MSG series/movies so forgive me for not knowing exactly how the lines look right now but if there is territory to take in northern canada this just became the best oportunity for an offensive in that direction with the reduced risk from an assault into Mexico.

But as previously stated this is the time of the war where the feddie juggernaught started to get rolling fucking with troop dispositions is vital.

Not all of them; the forces at Tucson, Laredo and Acuna are going to need to be rebuilt before they're ready to fight again. But the forces at Juarez and Matamoros were untouched, and the forces at Tijuana and Mexicali probably just took minor damage. Those four units would be heading south, and they should be able to destroy the Fedie forces in Chihuahua in a flash before moving to better defensive positions in Panama.

Hmm, while Zeon is apparently stretched to the limit in NA, it would be a good idea to keep the Feds from realizing it, especially with their recent losses and resultant low morale.
I think if possible, the Canada strike may be a better option, the forces in Mexico will either keep running, or end up pretty overstretched if they try to hold on to their gains, and by neutralizing the threat to the North,Zeon's defensive problem will be simplified

Been trying to come up with some tactics that could work in the event we have to face a/the Gundam. Mainly I'm planning for a faceoff with the Bandit again.

Dom's attack each firing scattering beams in turn possible blinding him but mainly as a distraction. We get Zol to program our Dom to throw Heat hawks even if we wont be very good at it. The Bandit has consistantly foiled Zol`s Hawk atttacks before and he knows to expect them. David throws the Hawks and Zol jumps over and attacks with 2 Dom Heat Sabers.

Another variation of this would mix it up mainly with 2 MS in the center using ranged weapons and 2 doms on the outside carrying Chain Mines.

In either plan Hovis would fire fused rounds set to explode above ground hopefully limiting enemy jump options.

Howard looked up in dismay from the trenches, the Zeon MS appearing as a literal specter of death and destruction upon the battlefield. The skeleton style paint job didn't help either. Steeling his nerve, he hefted his scuffed rifle and rushed towards the breach in the defensive line. They had all been briefed on the importance of this push, and they can't fail now. Artillery shells whistled through the air, screeching as they fell along the pitch-black and heavily cratered surroundings.

"Illumination shells incoming! Into the breach! Once more men!" Huey, red-faced and heaving along a rather bulky radio transmitter that somehow managed to function despite the Mintrosky Particles flying around panted behind him. A good kid - hope he doesn't catch a bullet.

The two of them moved from cover to cover, throwing themselves into the deep craters as the metal giants raged around them. The Undead Titans. The Nachtmaren. That name was synonymous with dread here in this part of the Western Hemisphere. Howard tried to imagine how the pilots detached themselves from all the killing they had done. All the death caused by their hands. It was war on a massive scale. Ever since the Colony Drop the dead were simply counted in numbers. The cold equation that balances the living against the dead. Insanity.

Why did he fight? They invaded his land, HIS Earth. And with God as his witness, he would drive them off of it.
    >> Kemal von Hindenburg 03/13/10(Sat)21:04 No.8571394
Well, perhaps we should prioritize finishing the Feddies off there. For example, instead of invading Australia, send those forces to the Canadian front, or invade Alaska directly from the sea. If we can drive the Feddies completely out of North America, we can redeploy all of those units that were covering the thousands of miles of front-lines elsewhere.

We also should spend some more time working on our occupation policy essay. Zeon is going to have to be able to get more support from the occupied territories if we want to have a prayer of holding back the Feddies. Also, our "treat the occupied with decency and compassion" idea would set us at odds with Gihren's "What Would Hitler Do?" policies, and anything that would help cleave us and Zeon away from Gihren is a good thing.

The Illumination rounds came in, slowly streaking towards the barren earth on their little parachutes - heavenly lights drifting to touch the hell below.

Their Morlock, their ace in the hole, was belching fire and thick black smoke from its massive chassis. He could see the outlines of two similarly painted MS dashing around it, brutally slaughtering the hapless tanks caught disembarking from the tight belly of the craft. Those poor sons of bitches never had a chance... Its a good thing he decided to stay in the infantry after all.

The metal rain began to fall harder around them, making further forward movement nigh impossible. Howard looked at his rifle with an amused expression on his face. What a weak toy compared to those rampaging beasts. Laughable. Truly the infantry were nothing but meat charging into the grinder here.

Heuy cheered behind him, startling him from his musings. The Morlock had done an about-face, and was bearing down upon one of the MS that fired rather ineffectually into its massive drills. At almost the last moment it lunged to the right, almost making it clear of the twisting metal maw. A shower of sparks and a small explosion proved that the harbinger of death did not escape unscathed, and the Morlock spun around to charge again as a bull would attack a fallen Matador.

No. That's why you carefully gauge just how far it can jump by observing it in prior battles, then have more artillery dispersing mines around the area you're just blowing to hell in back. You disperse the mines up to about twice the distance you estimate the Gundam can jump.

1st unit- Dopps, Luggins & Recon MS form a blockade perimiter around the Trojan Horse at 10-20 km.

2nd Unit- Persuit GAW's following at 20-40 km recieve targeting data from 1st unit and use their mega particle cannons from max range. Atleast 1 GAW from 2nd unit will remain seperate incase the Trojan Horse turns and attacks those in persuit.

3rd Unit- A handfull of Artillery Teams each deployed via Fat Uncle Transport each with a supporting Luggins. They deploy along the projected course of the Trojan Horse and recieve targeting data replayed by their luggins. These units will be effective even if their target descends to ground level. If threatened by Federation MS they reboard their transport and evac.

Heuy's cheer died in his throat as another MS leaped out of the darkness to lash out with a glowing metal rod. Howard imagined that he could hear the ringing sound as it struck the rear of the Morlock, but such delusions were quickly quenched as the resulting explosion's shockwave deafened him. With naught but a high-pitched ringing in his eardrums, he clearly saw the MS mount the rocking craft with malicious intent in mind. The volley of fire it poured into the Morlock was immense, and the light from the resulting explosions clearly illuminated the white bones painted upon the ferocious aggressor.

Heuy's heavy hand on his shoulder startled him from his deafened state. He turned to see the boy with tears streaming down his flushed, dirt-covered face. He shook his head in sympathy and watched so many lives go up in smoke. Screw the planet. If they wanted it so bad, they can HAVE it. One infantryman's rifle isn't going to change that fact. The original series (Mobile Suit Gundam) covers the last few months of the war, from mid-September through the end of December. Thus far, this entire quest has been in the part of the OYW before the original series. Episode 1 of MSG is happening three or four days from when today's session ended.

As for what the war is about? Zeon is a group of space colonies located at the L3 Lagrange point behind the moon, which seceded from the Earth Federation (think a more powerful but just as ineffectual UN and you'll about have it) about twenty years before the OYW. As for why Zeon started the war? Ideology, I think, and a sense that now was when they had their greatest possible military advantage over the Federation with the introduction of the mobile suit.
