Would anyone be interested in a Call of Cthulhu game set in the Mass Effect setting? I think it has a lot of potential for creepiness along with the setting's inherent coolness.

The Adeptus Mechanicus was here, Soverign is a pussy.

You know, the Reapers are a good parallel to the Great Old Ones.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:36 No.8127538
I must be one dense motherfucker to only notice now that these bastards are incomprehensible elder gods from beyond the stars. FUCK!

That picture reminds me of Homeworld.

FUCK now I can't get the image of Somtaaw squaring off against Sovereign out of my head!
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:37 No.8127550
Cthulhu is Sovereign (or was, anyway)
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:38 No.8127566
I mean, imagine being stuck on Zhu's Hope after the Thorian had woken up and started taking slaves. But you aren't Sheperd. You're just a regular guy...and the Normandy isn't coming.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:40 No.8127601
Actually, that really works. Like Cthulhu, Sovereign was the herald of the Great Old Ones.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:40 No.8127609
If he was, then he still is. "That is not dead..."

    Indoctrinated cultists. hmmmm
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:43 No.8127654
That's kind of proven when getting the Reaper IFF. Which was also a creepy as hell mission. "Chandana was right, but he didn't realize that even a dead god can dream. What people forget is that god is a verb. A verb for something that warps reality by it's very presence. It doesn't need to want to, or even know it's happening. It just happens.

I think he looks more like a tick or some kind of insectile parasite. That just makes him creepier, though.
    >> Gaow? 02/16/10(Tue)22:47 No.8127736

Yeah, Reapers are unknowable, monstrous constructs. It takes the sacrifice of a million people to grow a new one.

At least that explains why they let civilizations grow then harvest them over and over again.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:48 No.8127743
Thought I deleted it before anyone noticed.

Original comment was "Is it just me or does Sovereign look like a Hanarr?"
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:52 No.8127817
Not just one milion. It takes literary most of the given race to create one.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:52 No.8127834
And that's what happens after you stay Indoctrinated too long. You end up a frothing catatonic repeating that for the rest of your life.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:53 No.8127850
    DO IT OP

    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:55 No.8127882
Holy shit. Combine this idea with Half-Life 2 for maximum fun!

Pro-tip: Breen was Indoctrinated. The Watch is made up of human versions of the Collectors.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:55 No.8127887
SO is a reaper just a collection of all the individuals minds

does the reaper tech make a new conscious?
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:58 No.8127950
Well, I was thinking of maybe having some Colony leader in the edge of Alliance Space be secretly Indoctrinated in the past. He is left with a special command for him to start rounding up people at a certain time (Which is NOW). It's all set to flawlessly line up with a certain shipment of Dragon's Teeth and an Indoctrination Altar to teach the "doctors" some new techniques...

You see, with the death of the Collectors, the Reapers need new slaves. They just need to make them, first.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:59 No.8127967
While it isn't spelled out for certain in the games that I can remember, we never see either reaper have any sort of debate with itself, or show any other sign of being mroe than a single consciousness. Might be more or less like legion of course, but IMO the most likely scenario is that creating a reaper also creates anew consciousness, though it might inherit some things from the people that wen into it.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:59 No.8127969
Oh and obviously the PCs are a group of colonists who need to try to escape and get off the planet into Alliance space, or at least get in contact with some Council forces or the Alliance so they can stop it before it's too late!
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)23:01 No.8128004

I like this. I've been thinking of running a ME campaign myself and I might crib the basic plot idea.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)23:01 No.8128011
I imagine that the Reaper gets all their knowledge and experiences and stuff, but is it's own gestalt consciousness. More then the sum of it's parts and so on.

And if any of the party survive, Shepard comes along and kills them.

Or makes them part of his/her crew. The game then becomes Dark Heresy

When the GMPC is the trader AND the archmilitant.
