Just finished. All survived on all upgrades, mostly paragon and all that shit. And you know what?

I gave him that station. Because besides his agenda, my mistrust for him and generally him being a huge renegade jerk... He cares.

I can't put my finger on it, but I felt sorry when I chose to shut him out after he said that we need each other.

How far can you go while doing good? I had no doubts for quite a time. Now I have. Sometimes being all paladin is simply stupid. Some people don't understand anything but sheer violence. Some deserve it.

I just hope he puts it to good use. I'll keep an eye on him.

I blew it up. The Illusive Man only cares about getting Humanity to the top of the political pile, and doesn't give a shit what way he goes about it. The Shepard I ran wants Humanity recognised as equal to the other Council races - not better than them - and that humanity should earn this right by going out and doing good shit that promotes galactic unity. Instead of trying all sorts of bastardly underhand methods to get into power.

It is not about humanity though. You have seen what Reapers can do. You have seen how many of them are coming.

Do you really think we should ditch every chance to improve our defences against them?

I gave him that station for the same reason I preserved the Krogan cure, saved th Rachi Queen, Killed the Council, United te Geth and encourage the Quarians to peace: The Reapers are far to big thread to ignore any possible help or resources.
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)19:51 No.7941588
I was pure paragon, and I was going to give him the Reaper. But then I thought about it. Thought about what Legion and Mordin had said. Humanity isn't ready for that kind of power, isn't ready to use it properly. And even if we were, the reapers have dictated our socio-technological development for too long. We don't need tech they know and understand, we need tech that is as alien to them as they are to us.

I bet Ranchi and Geth have the best ability to kill Reapers

Reapers are great defenses against weapons that are normally blocked by shields like railguns and such. But once their shields are down they die just as easily as any other ship

Geth have energy weapons which can bypass shields and Ranchi attacks also bypass shields

So try to make some sort of bioweapon or spam lasers and you're might stand a fighting chance

The Rachni are no longer hostile to sentient life now that they've been freed from the souring of their songs. The Geth heretics can be dealth with leaving the peaceful tech developing Geth behind. The Krogans? Well that's probably true but I'm guessing almost every paragon player didn't try to cure the genophage anyway and even if they did they saved Wrex and helped Grunt ensuring that the Krogan will have strong leadership to shape them into a more civilized race during their first few formative years without the genophage.

Whoever they send there will be indoctrinated, so it will go back to doing what it was doing before, only with new people.

Cerberus are douchebags who will kill humanity to save it. In ME1, I actually thought they were trying to crossbreed Rachni and humans. Not to mention they killed an Admiral who was only worried about his men, whom Cerberus offed.

I blew that shit up. There are way too many ways that station can come back and bit you in the ass. Cerberus faggotry aside, having a direct hotline to the reapers and their indoctrination shit isn't a brilliant idea, considering what happens to anyone but Shepard when facing them.

Basically handing the reapers a ready reaper/god knows what else-factory chuck full of slaves (Cerberus people that can get indoctrinated) from a company that has detailed intel on everything in the galaxy, and specifically about Shep's whereabouts and ship, is retarded beyond belief.

No, better blow that shit up and let them salvage the tech from all the ships that have passed through that relay over millions of years. You can be damn sure there's some awesome stuff in those wrecks anyway and it will be stuff the reapers haven't bothered analyzing or caring about.

If organic don't threaten the Geth, they wont attack either. You probably haven't taken Legion to flotilla, so you might not know, but Legion said that the quarians attacked in 100% cases when they were sure they'd win. Meaning, that the true Geth only self-defended. That's why they all are beyond Perseus Veil, they just want to be left the fuck alone and allowed to exist, and that's why Legion was sent in the galaxy - to find Shepard and serve as an ambassador of the Geth. Legion did say, that the Geth plans will only affect organics if they involve themselves.

Basically, the Geth might attack only when the organics would be preparing to do the same. No "lol I trol u" betrayals during the battle against the Reapers or shit like that.

    Indoctrination only occurs around Reapers.

I don't think station itself indoctrinates. It's a Reaper building facility constructed by Collectors. They wouldn't install indoctrination devices on it. What for? They are already totally pro-Reaper.

It wasn't built by the collectors, it's been there for at least 37 million years. The fact that it has it's own mass effect gate implies that it's been there for billions of years. It was built by the reapers. Also, new collectors who were born after the protheans died out would need to be indoctrinated too.

    >They wouldn't install indoctrination devices on it. What for?
Worst-case-scenario plan, perhaps. They assume there's a possibility organics will find the Collectors, so they leave a latent indoctrination device in the base. Since by that point organics will have discovered Reapers are coming back, they'll most likely panic and try to take advantage of all the tech they find. Said tech indoctrinates those around it, and as armies mass to counter Reapers they are swiftly taken over by indoctrination or killed by indoctrinated troops. Hypothetical, but possible.

I cant wait to see a MASSIVE Geth fleet

The one you see in ME1 was only 5% of the Geth population

With the knowledge of the Reapers coming through I bet the Geth go 100% Total War and start churning out ships with energy based weapons that bypass shields. Soon half the Galaxy will be nothing but Warships and massive defensive battlestations

The Citadel will be completely surrounded with allied fleets and guns.

    I love to fortify crap
    >> Anonymous 02/05/10(Fri)21:03 No.7942346
I'm curious as to what the Reapers will do in ME3. So far we've stopped them twice; in ME1 Shepard stopped them from doing their reboot of the galaxy and in ME2 we stopped them from kidnapping and making a new Reaper. Based on how ME2 ends it looks like they're gonna try and just go for a board-wipe of the galaxy.

As for me, I went Paragon, saved everyone, blew that thing up. Blew it up for 2 reasons: don't trust Illusive Man, remembered Mordin's conversation on how the Salarians screwed over the Krogan and only new is a saved Wrex attempting to save the Krogan.

What do you think the story for ME3 will be?

What I'm hoping for is that it'll revolve around a bunch of Reaper ships going to try and destroy the Citadel. Shepard stops them only to see it was a ploy and their main target is Earth, seeing that humanity as a whole is why their plans are failing. Rest of Earth fleet attempts to stop them as Shepard tries to return to Earth to join in the fight. The Reapers shut down all the mass effect relays and he's stuck at the Citadel. Legion shows up with Geth datasphere and upgrades Normandy to travel at mass effect relay speeds w/o using one.

Shepard shows up at Earth, kicks ass but is losing the battle. Turian fleet, Asari fleet, Salarian ships, Krogan warriors, Migrant Fleet, Geth datasphere show up as the calvary to save humanity. Shepard teams up with everyone from ME1-3 to go and attack the Reaper fleet ship. Badass fight occurs, succeed at saving the galaxy, Shepard & crew fly off to go kick more ass in the next galaxy that the Reapers are housed at.

Reapers gave organic life Element Zero so they'll specialize in Mass Driver weapons tech.

It took a whole fleet ages of firing non-stop with weapons that hit with the force of a nuclear warhead to disable its shields before it was destroyed in an instant with the Normandy's main guns blowing straight through it

This means we need energy weapons which shields are weak to with stuff like Phasic ammunition that could bypass shields or some sort of attack that moved slow enough or launched close enough that the shields don't activate to block like some sort of battering ram or chemical attack the Thorian Creepers or Thresher Maws used

It wasn't, just a really powerful plasma gun that still used mass effect weapons.

Reapers have perfect inertial barriers on their ships so it's like they have 10,000 points of damage reduction against any kinetic weapon. So you either need a massive mass effect accelerator that can shoot through planets or use lasers, which ignore inertial barriers.

Too bad lasers don't use easymode ezero so they're practically ignored.

Their various experiments in ME1 all ended horribly. Shepard had to clean up their messes.

They mess up by sending people into the dead Reaper and getting them turned into Husks.

Hell, even Project Lazarus can fail in a way; they brought back Shepard, but if he acts as a Paragon right the way through, he prevents Cerberus from getting any important technology (Legion and Grunt while they're inert, the collector base, and makes sure they can't try investigating the dead Reaper again) and sends incriminating evidence to the Citadel. They basically revive, equip, and pay him to fuck their plans up.

I didn't blow it up because I figured I could hand it over to the Council to prove what I've been saying about the reapers this whole time. I had the ship with the IFF so I could do with the station as I pleased. Then I remembered that I destroyed the defenses that the base had and rendered the IFF obsolete and if the Citadel went and sent ships all the way there they could trigger a costly war with a united Terminus systems while all the fleets of Citadel races are depleted by the attack by Sovereign. Cerberus would have been able to snag the station no matter what I did.

So yeah, I don't trust TIM to do anything useful with that bloody thing and the Council isn't going to be able to snag it easily. We need to be united to face the Reapers and the Collector Base would only serve as a distraction to that. Next time through I'm blowing that bloody thing to hell.

In all honesty, they were kind of small time in the first game. Your average corporation was researching far deadlier and more galaxy threatening stuff than they were.

They lured a squad of alliance marines to a Thresher Maw den to study the attack, then killed the admiral investigating.

They used spikes to turn a whole colony into husk to study the reactions, as well as running a facility that studied Rachni with human test subjects. All in all, they ran a bunch of super-solider programs, trying to make something that could (according to ME2) protect humanity and help fight Reapers.

He gives his money to other organizations and institutions. They do the work. He sends an operative to check up on it. He likes it, he keeps sending money. He doesn't, they stop getting money.

Like how Bill Gates can donate 1 million dollars to the Children in Africa Relief Fund. He can't keep those people on the ground from raping little African kids. When he finds out though, he pulls his money.

The Illusive Man has a high tolerance of douche baggery from those he sponsors. If he sees them helping humanity in the long run, he will keep giving them money. If he sees them trying to take advantage of him or furthering a cause he doesn't agree with, you pulls his support.

No, I'm saying that you can't say he's not to blame at all when he happily gives people with clearly questionable research vast amounts of money, sits back hands off as they do terrible things, then repeats it again. Either he doesn't understand what will happen and thinks they'll never do anything bad so they don't need supervision (he's an idiot) or he thinks they'll do terrible things and wants to avoid knowing about it so doesn't supervise them (he's funding evil projects and knows it).

For me, the choice was simple.

Destroy the station. Humanity stands, it gathers allies, it fights. It makes sacrafices and it bleeds so that others don't have to. Victory is not assured, and even if it is, the losses will be great. But at the end, there would be some sort of peace and unity.

Hand the station over to TIM. It might increase our chances of victory. Or it might go horribly wrong and make things worse. And even if it does work, it gives a huge amount of power to a racist xenophobe who would quite happily see all other races serving Humanity.

I'm not willing to let that happen. Idealistic? Yes, very. But it's our morals and scruples, our ability to say "no, this is wrong" that seperates us from the Reapers.

Plus, there's the possibility that the Reapers intentionally left the station intact. They created the mass relays and such in order to guide the development of technology to where they wanted it, this could be just another part of that.

Plot Armour is just a state of mind, a lesser man would freak out about being dead.

And it was Jacob, Miranda, Steve Blum, and a dedicated team of scientists.

TIM didn't do anything besides throw 4 billion credits their way, which isn't a lot considering they're RAISING THE FUCKING DEAD, and it was still horribly over-budget.

Wasn't it said somewhere that if you romanced different people in each game, they can meet up on your party (assuming both survive) and there'll be fireworks?

After seeing how crazy Liara's gone, I'm not sure how I can break the news that she's dumped without being crushed into soup.

I don't see why people think she's crazy now. She just took a level in Bad Ass is all.

Hell, bitch is likely the reason you're alive in ME2. The comic (well, first issue as that's all they gave me) shows she's on a quest to find your body. She couldn't exactly keep up the naive archelogist thing and survive that.

Shadow Broker captured (and likely horribly murdered) the guy helping her find you. Shadow Broker, additionally, was plotting to find and HAND YOUR REMAINS TO THE COLLECTORS.

I can understand her murderous intentions, honestly. Wanting to murder the man who fucked with two close friends (one of which was potentially her lover) is rather easy to comprehend.

She's not just murdering some random fuck.

Hell, now that I think of it, she's kinda a step above Garrus on the crazy-o-meter, since Garrus is/was the SPACE PUNISHER and murdering random criminals willy-nilly.
