    Our choices seem to be

    fight the prime
    join the prime
    do nothing

I think we should leave, but ramming her with our ship would be really cool.

Meh, do whatever would be more in character.
I think we should try to help 6 by killing her.
We're none too gentle with our friends.

We wanted to go with 6, before we found out that she'd killed everyone else onboard.

I say we leave. There's no place for us here, not anymore. 6 and any other "rogue" ships will be eventually torn apart by the rest of the navy, but will probably wreak havoc and carnage in the meantime.

Our friend has lost her mind, our species has lost its place in the galaxy, and we need to get away before it consumes us too.

    Leave. Quietly and sadly.

Transmit this message to all of the remaining ships in the safehold before we leave and detonate the exit behind us:

    "Sic transit gloria mundi"
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)00:01 No.7448297
We have 250 people on board (at least). We can drop them off somewhere habitable, with supplies and technology. They can rebuild humanity, slowly, and remember what happened here.

We have an exploration ship at our command, and it's time we find some answers to this mess.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)00:02 No.7448303
She was our friend. We need to put her down for her own good.

Say no, bring up how this is going to end just like that sparring match before everything else. Except this time there's no observer to stop our punch.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)00:02 No.7448304
Our crew has no place in this. This is our ship. We are its eyes, ears, and hands- its breath, its mind, its soul. As Six so aptly demonstrates, the decision of what to do here is entirely ours.

Besides, the captain couldn't possibly understand the motivations of a HANA like we can. He'd be giving orders from a position of ignorance, and probably reflexively side with the Fleet because of it.

I say that we should just leave. Enough of High Command and their bullshit, not siding with Six and her tragically genocidal level of sanity loss. Go on our own. We've got the speed to manage it.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)00:02 No.7448310
This is no time to just sit idly on the sidelines. Those rogues would burn the galaxy if they could.

Humanity itself needs to be saved. 6 has lost it. This is serious shit, you can't just let her run around being crazy.

    This sounds reasonable.

You set your course to the Jump Gate out of the system, and begin to charge your Jump Capacitor. The Navigation chart blinks on your screen, informing you of locations to jump. Thanela Prime is among them.

Six is screaming in your ear through the link.

Remember, at any time you can open communications and talk with either side.

Six, please, listen to me I want to go with you. But think: You are rebelling against these people because of all the killing they have made you do. Do you really want to kill more people? Take more lives? Please Six, we can drop our crews off somewhere, and then... I don't know what, explore, look for thing, whatever we want. But please don't hurt more people.

If they want to stay in the Heaven Gate, let them. In time, we can come back for them, when we know that they have had enough to to reflect, and are ready to repent. But we don't need to extinguish more lives.

I know I can never know what it has been like for you and your sisters. I can understand if you want payback. But please, don't. Take the higher road and walk away with me.

"Thank you, Six. I am honored to call you a friend. I hope- I hope that the Fleet decides to let us leave. If they don't... there could be trouble. But at least we will be together."

Travel goes pretty fast - in fact, you're already looking at the lovely blue/green surface of Thanela Prime. "Prime" jumped later than you, so it should be along shortly. With the rest of the fleet.

After each jump, your ship's capacitor releases A LOT of energy in the process - its going to need time to cool and start recharging.
    >> Researcher Sam 01/06/10(Wed)00:37 No.7448911
Draw energy from Jump Capacitors. Once full, blow it up. Six has enough weaponry to permanently scar planets; I think she can blow up the charge gate. Once that's done, run to another system.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)00:37 No.7448914
Can we see/talk with the Prime?

I'm thinking we could transfer everybody to the Prime and act as a decoy. Not sure about the stability of those six.

So gates aren't exactly gates... I hope you can expand on this.
Do networks only go to certain areas, or could we have made a blind jump? Can we change course?
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)00:37 No.7448921

And here comes Prime, followed by the Fleet. Craptastic.

Gates are pretty much giant electrical storage rings. They absorb most forms of energy - solar, kinetic, ionic - and transfer it to a ship's Jump Capacitor. The ship then empties the Capacitor into the Jump Engines (a lot of current there) and speeds along, creating a lot of heat and stress on the Jump Engines and Capacitor. They are going to need time to cool.

We can try to use the planet for cover, eject and detonate some nukes to flood the area with particles to hide in, that sort of thing.

    That was Angora.

You can make a blind jump, but you could run through a planet, a sun, that sort of thing. The Gates are charging stations, but also contain navigation charts to different solar systems. But it appears that High Command is already wiping the Navigation Charts from the Gate memory as well as your ship - you should consider setting up a firewall. They must not want you to nuke Earth.

Well, we should be at a position to take out the lead pursuer.

"Firing retreat, Six. I've got your back, friend."

"Fleet, this is Thirteen. Break off pursuit of the Prime immediately or I activate a trap that is going to down slightly over a third of you in less than a minute. You think you can break her mind, and then kill her for it? I won't let you."

Have Six try to land herself in the oceans. We can probably get deep enough to be safe.

Have her use her weapons to detach the half of our ship that had the cryo-pods, and ask her to guard them as she goes in towards the planet.

    Then we buy her time.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)00:46 No.7449043
Tell our crew that they should probably head for the life pods, then. The fleet should be able to retrieve them, and won't blame them for our actions- after all, Prime has just proven how helpless a crew is in the face of a HANA who disagrees with them.

Tell Six that we will be her friend forever, and if they won't let you leave together, you'll still stand by her.

Charge capacitors as quickly as possible, and move to support Prime against the fleet.

You try to get in contact with the Fleet's HANA, but there seems to be no response. You see some of the Fleet's ships moving rather erratically, and one even starts shooting at nothing. It seems like their crews took action against further rebellion.

You set up a firewall and separate your electrical databanks. Luckily there are a few systems left...

I think they are both stupid AND angry. Jeeze, we could have gone peacefully. But if they choose to pursue us and try to take us out, I have no qualms about firing back.

They couldn't have gotten the entire fleet to the gate at once unless they waited up for the slower ships. That means they will come in piecemeal and we can pick them off. I don't want to, but by god I will if I have to.

Alright, lets try this out. SPACE BATTLE TIME!

The Fleet is moving into the interference packed field and has begun firing, albeit slowly, at to where you and the Prime last were. They have waited up for some slower, heavier hitters that are still outside the large interference cloud, but your ship is small enough that you're hidden pretty well.

You have only your dual ion pulse cannons left as armament. The Prime has 50 rapid fire nuclear missile launchers along the top of their ship, a large bore long range ion cannon - forward facing - 6 bottom mounted kinetic flak cannons and two single side mounted ion pulse cannons remaining.

Do you guys want me to make this a D20 battle - with actions called along with a high/low roll?

Man, I wish we had some good, old fashioned kinetic weaponry. I doubt the Fleet is tracking very well without their HANAs so tossing several volleys of giant slugs into their path would fuck them up nicely.

Get in close to Six and suggest that she do such a thing with her nukes. Fire them along the Fleet's projected path with thrusters inactive. Only boost coming from their firing.

Then have her fire her main cannon at the same time to mask the missile launch. Should catch Fleet by surprise.

    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:07 No.7449330
Ask Six if she has any navigational data, and check our own databanks to see if any is left. Our objective here is to hold out until we can run again- to get to a system with another gate which we can charge off of, and hopefully use to restore our systems. If we can leave the fleet even a bit behind, they'll never catch us.

    Alright, planning it is.

You notice something streak by you suddenly and detonate about a kilometer away. Apparently the Fleet has started shooting non-nuclear conventional explosives to try and poke you out of the cloud. And more nukes and the interference cloud might get bigger, or simply toast everyone.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:07 No.7449335
She will? Good, because what we're about to tell her is going to be hard for her to have to do.

She and the others are going to have to disconnect from the Dreadnought Prime and transfer over to our ship. We send the Dreadnought Prime on a Blaze of Glory run towards the Fleet and have it detonate itself in the location most likely to send up the entire Fleet like a set of explosive dominoes.

Meanwhile, we take advantage of the resulting chaos to take ourselves and our sisters down to the planet, where we can hide underwater.

Because if we stay and fight, we're dead.

Nuke cover keeping us undetected while the remainder of the fleet arrives.

We have communication with 6 via hardline
    No communication with fleet

40 minutes total before jump, unless we can combine the 10 with the last part of the 30.

    Fleet between us and gate.

    6 is listening to us

How long will this field cover us?

    Do we have drones?

We need to keep moving and the Prime needs to shoot off more nukes as chaff. I suggest we try to look like the same ship.
By this I mean that both ships use the same weapons (ion cannons) and we fly around the cloud shooting off rounds. (we can fly faster than the Prime still, right?)

While the Fleet is distracted, we get the hell away and get orbiting the planet. We pick up enough speed to blow by them, tossing nukes out in front as cover, and zip off at a sublight speed they can't hope to match. We power down extra systems and recharge jump power the old fashioned way.

Alright. Let me count... There seem to be at least one hundred small fighter craft, armed with conventional missiles and small kinetic slug weapons. 30 to 40 Ion Cannon frigates and several Missile Destroyers that are currently launching int the cloud. Behind that there are two Battleships with single bore Ion cannons and swivel kinetic turret weaponry.

The field will cover you until either the explosions can dissipate it or it simply drifts away on the solar wind. The latter will take a long long time.

There are no ship to ship drones. All human controlled.

This seems like a decent escape plan, except for the fact that Prime is slow as all hell. Their entire fleet will be able to pursue and harry us all the way to the planet; blinding them will only buy us a tiny amount of time. Unless we can somehow make them not give chase, no.

Earlier, we were blocked from talking to the HANAs. Why would anything have changed? That said, it's worth a shot. If nothing else, we can dart out, get some current sensor data, and if we can't talk return to Six with locations of enemy vessels to fire on.
    >> H.A.N.A. Quest Pt3 Supernova !FzAyW.Rdbg 01/06/10(Wed)01:28 No.7449661
Alright, I'll flesh these two plans out.

On one hand, you want to try to contact the BB's HANA, if they are even there. You'll need to leave the radiation cloud to do that, and they will be able to see you.

If you launch more nukes, the cloud will get bigger, and you will lose your chance to contact the BB HANA unless you get out of the new, larger cloud.
    >> Researcher Sam 01/06/10(Wed)01:28 No.7449665
This. They must still be clustered around where they exited warp or whatever, since with all the radiation clogging sensors, moving could easily result in collisions. They should be nicely packed together.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:28 No.7449674
Be ready to start random-walking after we communicate, because if it goes sour they WILL use our communications to find us.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:29 No.7449684
If we do this, the current particle cover should mask their approach, so they won't be shot down before detonating. And a massive combined nuke assault should seriously cripple the fleet.
    >> H.A.N.A. Quest Pt3 Supernova !FzAyW.Rdbg 01/06/10(Wed)01:30 No.7449698
Also, the Battleships are moving a lot smoother than the rest of the Fleet ships - you don't know what this means, but they are quite coordinated.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:30 No.7449703
Launch conventional explosives or kinetic slugs to clear a path for us to signal the battleships, then drop a chaff-nuke after we communicate to rebuild our cover.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:31 No.7449718
By 'launch more nukes' we should be firing nukes THROUGH the cloud AT Fleet.

That should distract them so that, combined with our superior maneuverability, we can attempt to get in touch with the battleship HANAs.

Starting to get tired of this round robin affair.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:31 No.7449726
Oh, I don't mean to blind them. I mean to blast them to kingdom come. I think, in space, having the nukes spaced out at a set distance of each other would have more of an effect than having them blow up in one location (since nuclear reactions consume material to expand, iirc). But otherwise, cripple as much of them as we can while we have cover, and haul ass away.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:31 No.7449729
It means that either they've got working HANAs or, equally possible, they're built with a second set of controls so that the crew can command the ship competently in the event of the HANA being killed or otherwise incapacitated.
    >> Researcher Sam 01/06/10(Wed)01:33 No.7449756
Fuck, those bastards have some hidden AI backups, don't they. Bastards, they said they destroyed them all!

Still might be worth it to try and talk with them in case that isn't what's happening. And to get some new sensor data.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:34 No.7449761
Distract them? Let's use this opportunity to hit them with something they can't see coming.

ALL OF PRIME'S NUKES at once should do a massive amount of damage to the packed fleet. AND blind them further. While they're recovering from that, we run and set up the slingshot.
    >> H.A.N.A. Quest Pt3 Supernova !FzAyW.Rdbg 01/06/10(Wed)01:34 No.7449767
    OK. We have:
    Contact the BB HANA.
    Nuke the Fleet.

This seems sensible, except even if you try to clear a path within the cloud with conventional explosives, its going to stir it up, a lot. You may just make a lot of light and get no communication out of it.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:35 No.7449793
I think popping out of cover is going to get us fucked over. Not to mention how there's all that radiation making communication a pain if even possible.

If there's a sniper on the other side of your trench, you don't stick your head up. You'll have it shot off.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:35 No.7449797
We can't see the fleet well enough to target effectively, and space is huge. Even fifty nukes might do only slight damage.
    >> H.A.N.A. Quest Pt3 Supernova !FzAyW.Rdbg 01/06/10(Wed)01:36 No.7449810
Alright, I'm going to try to speed this up.
Do you guys want to - in this order - pop out of the cloud to contact the BB - after contacting, shoot off another chaff nuke to cover you again - and then launch all nukes at the Fleet's last known position?
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:36 No.7449812
    Eh. Nuke them.

We can pop above the cloud to get an accurate picture of where the Fleet is, then drop back down to connect with Six.

Six can then fire kinetic nukes through the cloud at all estimated Fleet positions.
    >> Anonymous 01/06/10(Wed)01:36 No.7449813
If we have comms wire with which to chat with Dreadnought Prime, hook the end of another one to a missile or something and fling it outside of the cloud. Then transmit along the wire to communicate.

    >> H.A.N.A. Quest Pt3 Supernova !FzAyW.Rdbg 01/06/10(Wed)01:41 No.7449909
    Ok, here we go.

Before severing your communication cable, you let Six know to wait until you finish communicating to fire off a chaff nuke, then unload into the fleet's last position. Wishing you luck, you zip outside the cloud.

Your sensors are still blinded by all the particles flying around, but you manage to bounce a laser off one of the BBs.

Directing full power to the Engines, you attempt to dive back into the Chaff Cloud. The beams of light lance out, and neatly sever your ship in half. The lower armor along the crew compartments boils away easily, violently depressurizing the ship. Damage Control screams at you that the Engine Block and Engineering have both been severed, and a metal fragment rips through the wall in front of your pod, providing you with a personal view of the battlefield.

You see Six launch a chaff nuke in between you and the BBs, and with a blinding light, space is filled with more colored radiation. The BBs shoot again, their beams going wide as they can no longer lock you, and your own wreck spinning rapidly towards the blue-green planet. A small voice intones in your ear, "Condition Black declared, Emergency Cryostasis of Soft Core, commencing."

As the world grows cold, you see multiple flashes as Prime launches all its nukes in a stagger pattern against the Fleet. And then, darkness.

    Session End.

My earliest experiences in any sort of role-play was on a old forum that was taken down oh so long ago. I never GMed, just made up a couple characters and tried to RP along.
