Well, we can assume that there are two distinct cultures here. The human culture, which is from the service. They seem to have technology up the wazoo. Teleporters, Artificial Intelligence, even Instant Messaging!
The floating Island, which is separated from the rest of the world utterly, (and yet still a helicopter ride away), doesn't have much technology at all beyond what was used to make the Island itself, and that technology seems to be long forgotten. The only people on it to use magic are from the same family of casters, which only has three members that we know of.
Other then the magic using humans, the Island is populated by various animal and plant creatures. Civilization the towns of the sentient beings, (such as they are), are isolated from each other, with no efficient means of transportation, (before the teleporters), with lots of monsters in between.
The main places are: The Mimiga Village, Grass Town, (It only has two Mimigas in it right now, and is infested with crap, but judging by the buildings it used to have more), The Labyrinth with those fun cannibal bug things, and The Doctor's Plantation.
If you want to make a setting out of this, I recommend setting it a few decades or so into the future, repopulating the world a bit, possibly allowing for more casters to pop up, as well as letting Balrog mate, (because everyone loves Flying Toaster-Lunchboxes). This will also allow you to set up some sort of relations with the humans. War, invasion, magical barrier preventing their entrance, whatever.
