Previously the hive has been attempting to negotiate with a group of spiders, seeking to aid them, and the scorpions against the wasp assault.
The last interactions were as such.

    >"We already have constructed half of a tunnel large enough for the scorpions -- We should reach the grounds the scorpions stay in in half an hour. Our offering of food still stands."

    >Sliver has already begun to return to the battle as the diplomacy ants are conveying their message. It seems he did not find them particularly believable. Maybe he will be a bit more understanding when you follow through -- but it seems for now he believes his time would be better spent aiding his cousins.

The hive has been growing surely, and the aphid rebellion has started to quiet down some it seems.

    Scorpion-Wasp conflict report:
Tunnel to the scorpion's defensive position is complete.
All the scorpions can enter, but have not done so yet.
The wide spider is still being attacked by the wasps.
The silver spider has joined the wide spider's conflict -- it now appears to be about evenly matched -- the aid of the ants could tilt the favor in either direction most likely. It would take a significant force though to do so reliably.

    >Scorpions: The scorpions are particularly wary of the ground upon which they walk -- it seems they fear moving at all, even when all the wasps seem occupied.

    >Aphid conflict: An aphid has come forward and attempted to communicate with one of the ants guarding it!
    >Oddly this aphid appears to be a different color than the others. It seems to radiate heat, and appears pitch black in color.

These aphids are just behaving in an inflammatory fashion. I say we attempt to subdue them until we get this wasp thing under control, then excise the leader-aphids and any upstarts and then use the aphid society as a sustainable food caste. This solves any problems we might have with feeding an army, and provides ample food for the queen to create more functioning ants.
    >> Uncle Ant 10/18/09(Sun)00:58 No.6319218
Alright so here is the gamble, we can shrug and let them go, maybe they forgive, or at least forget, maybe they dont and we have an adversary.

Or we can shrug and kill them all, and hope that they arnt psychic and no body knows we took em.

If we let them go, we make a warp tunnel strait to were we found them, and colapse it behind once they are out. No need to let them know where he main entrance is if they dont feal like playing nice.

makes a good point. If we let them go, whoever they have back home will know what we did, and that we did it.

    >> Uncle Ant 10/18/09(Sun)01:05 No.6319308
Its a big and dangerous world. Them being missing is not damning to us unless we were seen taking them.

If we let them go I propose something along the lines of
"If you pledge to do no further harm to us, we will do the same to you and you may leave"
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)01:18 No.6319461

if we can't eat them, and there's no promise they won't be a problem in the future, we should kill them. A certainty that we won't have enemies is better than an uncertainty that we won't. We're in a situation where we have made a mistake and are facing minimal consequences, we can harvest what poison from their corpses, or go with my cattle idea, but instead of eating, we harvest poison.

"We cannot simply stand by, as you have slain three of our kind. We shall go, but know this: In the next three encounters with the Order, your kind shall be hunted and slain for punishment for the lives of those lost today. Ignis shall purge those who claim power over all."
    >> Uncle Ant 10/18/09(Sun)01:22 No.6319501
A dead enemy is better than a live one, but an ally is better than both. Non agresion is about on par with a dead enemy. If we can get non-agresion without a fight, that is better than getting dead enemies without a fight (same result, less ants lost). If we cant get at minimum non-agresion, we accept it as a bad deal and slaughter them.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)01:26 No.6319535

Our problem has been answered for us. They're enemies now, at least for a short time. I suggest we collapse the tunnel on them, try and minimize losses, and call it a was. Aphids are a zealous lot not prone to reason, we should probably temper further encounters with caution.

    >Just to make sure you guys are clear on order of events: located aphids, brought them to hive without resistance, killed one aphid to test it for edibility (resulted in immediate death of the ants which consumed it), open conflict began. Two additional aphids were killed during the conflict. Conflict ends with Splendorious ants entering the picture. Black aphid approaches ants.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)01:34 No.6319618

Now that we've settled that, the method of slaughter should be discussed. I think we should refrain from telling them we're going to kill them, and collapse the tunnel on them. Do it well before they reach the end, and if there are survivors on our end, we can mop up easily in the confusion. We've got the advantage in the underground, and if we can take out that black one without having to resort to combat, we remove a wildcard from the equation.

    >> Uncle Ant 10/18/09(Sun)01:39 No.6319669
Well if they dont accept the 20 or so ants that died in the confilct as flesh paid for flesh, then they die, they can leave as allies, they can leave as neutral, but enemies do not leave unless they can offer something worth their lives.

We have 10 wariors and 15 II wariors guarding the aphid area, not to mention 125 infernic ants that just hatched as an even divded of IIwarior and acidic, I say we bring the acidic ones to be ready for the fight, maybe their acid resistance will help against aphid venom, its along shot but why not.

On the other side, have our tunnel troops broken out and started helping the spiders yet?
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)01:41 No.6319683

huh what do you know, guess I didnt read the backlogs as thouroghly as I thought. Oh well genocide it is.

Colapsing the tunel on them would work, or at least traping them in the tunnel to starve. Would still like the new acidics to be in on the fight if it comes to that, to see if their resitance extends to poison. Asuming of course I corectly understood the 125 larve that MM were from the warior/acidic bunch. If not duno
    >> Uncle Ant 10/18/09(Sun)01:52 No.6319790
I doubt it, sense it happend after we kidnaped them, and our tunels arnt exactly wasp sized. Though we should ask them about wasps/spiders/scorpians before we completely turn off diplomacy and kill them. We have no way of knowing if this order of ignus is pure aphids or not. If the wasps are part of the order, that would at least be convient to our alliance with the arachnids, though less conveint in the war against the wasps. If the spiders are part of it, we realy will need to keep the lid on our little fox paus here.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)01:52 No.6319791

We've got three for the tunnel idea, then. We can keep any new acidic warriors we have on hand in case some don't get caught in it.

also, in order to ensure they get caught in the tunnel, we could make it needlessly long and convoluted, forgoing an actual opening on the other side of it in favor of something long enough to contain them for a collapse/fatal quarantine.
    >> Anti-Fate !Dx8/5aCn.k 10/18/09(Sun)02:00 No.6319852
You decide to order the aphids slaughtered in a tunnel.
    >"Very well, we shall lead you from our hive as we said before."
The 49 ants (10 warriors, 15 warriorIIs (Splendor), 24 workers) lead the aphids and begin tunneling through the dirt via warp-burrowing.
"What? What is this? The earth moves before your very forms? What evil are you!?"
The Aphids retreat out of the tunnel and attempt to flee from the escorts and warp burrowing ants. Three of them make it past the guards, while the rest are captured within the tunnel. The black Aphid is not among them.
Pheromones of fear, and a strange pheromone which seems to be like a prayer radiating off of the trapped aphids. They seem to have no hope for survival. -- Should they be slaughtered immediately, stuck in pens, questioned or something else?
What should be done about the three rogue aphids?
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:05 No.6319892
Oh boy oh boy, I thought Ant Quest was dead!

And I'll vote for collapsing the tunnel on them; but is there some reason we can't just send in the troops and slaughter them all right now? Or hell, just kill this ringleader, see if they crumble along with him.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:06 No.6319901

I would suggest immediate action, armed patrols to seek out the rogue aphids and the slaughter of the majority of the remaining aphids, maintaining perhaps 5 for the purposes of questioning.
    >> Anti-Fate !Dx8/5aCn.k 10/18/09(Sun)02:09 No.6319931
    >Four have been captured, three are in the hive. Unfortunately, it will take a bit of time to organize search parties -- its likely only 1/3rd of the hive can be searched with the current ants before they could get enough of a lead to escape at the speed which they travel.
    >> Uncle Ant 10/18/09(Sun)02:11 No.6319941
Doh, I even thought about saying we should dig standard (cus it would be easier to collapse admitidly) but then I read schlock mercinary. we can ask the regular aphids if they truely mean harm upon us for this ignis fellow (who I might point out noticed that we are a contridiction to fate, and he said he was an enforcer of order). If yes we kill them, if they dont answer at all we apoligize again and kill them. If they answer in another way we will see.

The guards at the entrance need to be double aware that there may be an escape atempt, and to try and stop the three renigade aphids, especialy the black one. The acidic that MMed need to start patroling the tunels seaking for them. The wariors that MMed are to go to the queen, it is never more important to protect here than when enemies are at the gate.

    go go go
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:13 No.6319963

Since 4 are loose, I suggest that just in case one actually does escape, we don't kill them but instead turn them sort of POWs.

Since Aphids are also known as "ant cows", they can be used as a food source and later as hostages for negotiations if need be.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:13 No.6319967

I agree with this course of action, save for I think the aphids should be slaughtered regardless of what they say. We should still ask them, and give them assurances, but they can lie just as easily as us.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:14 No.6319976

Read the thread, they're toxic. We can't eat them.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:18 No.6320012

    GO OG OG

Especially the black one. Do we have any hints on which way he would run? We can't search everywhere, as AntiFate says.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:19 No.6320017

Some species of ants "farm" aphids, protecting them on the plants they eat, eating the honeydew that the aphids release from the terminations of their alimentary canals. This is a "mutualistic relationship".

Ant extracting honeydew from an aphid

These "dairying ants" "milk" the aphids by stroking them with their antennae.[12][13] Therefore, sometimes aphids are called "ant cows".

u don't actually eat them, you eat their secretions
    >> Uncle Ant 10/18/09(Sun)02:22 No.6320040
yeah its metagaming like that that got us into this mess. we can magicly make holes in inorganics, spiders are in an alliance with scorpians against a coalition of wasps of different species (as oposed to every wasp hive for itself. aphids a poisonous religous fanatics. what we know is wrong. this is ant quest.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:22 No.6320042

We'll have to look more into that when we can, as it is we have some scared, pissed off and potentially lethal aphids running around the nest.
    >> Anti-Fate !Dx8/5aCn.k 10/18/09(Sun)02:28 No.6320116
    >As for any indication of where they have gone; no, there is no obvious clue to which direction they traveled. You can specify up to 3 of the following locations to be searched right now, or sacrifice one location choice to increase the number you can search after the results of this search are in by 2.
    Location choices:
Any one food storage chamber (4).
    Deep hive path.
    Main entrance.
    Path to QB's hive.
    Nursery (And queen's chamber).
    Treatment center.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:28 No.6320119
So we should have any entrance and royal guards on full alert, and acidic MMer ants scouring the hive.

Well I dunno, unless we catch the renegade aphids, we're sort of done on this avenue, aren't we?
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:31 No.6320155
I say slaughter the ones we have on the spot. Send one ant to the entrance to warn the entrance guards of an escape attempt, half the remaining ants to search the tunnels, and the remaining ants to guard the queen.
    >> girder 10/18/09(Sun)02:32 No.6320163
I fell like this is appropriate given the thread topic:
    >> Uncle Ant 10/18/09(Sun)02:35 No.6320190
Main entrence (as that is the exit) and nursery/queen chamber (as thats where they could do the most harm if left to their own devices) The others have no particular priorty that I can think of (though if someone can think of something i missed go for it). Though we should send a runner (digger or worker, whichever would get there fastest) to Betty and inform her that the aphids are hostile and some escaped during diplomacy.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:36 No.6320208
    A few Suggestions :
-Change the Queen's Diet to 20 ants worth of Sweet ooze and 5 ants worth of Earthworm.
-Take a test group of 50 Larvaes and feed them using Earthworm and Sweet ooze.
-The delayed hatching Eggs should be taken away from the mineral clump, to see if the delay is only while nearby.

Let's see what the effects of a change of diet has on us.

Stalkers type Ants in teh spider area should be affected to recconnaissance, trying to find the wasps nests. Weither to detroy or raid to be determined later.

That Ignis fellow must be located and eliminated, the queen must be protected and so must the larvaes, increase guard around concerned areas and exits. Eliminate the rest of the Aphids, we can't run the chance of them turning black. Whatever it does it can't be good for us. Preferably send acidics against them. Some short term losses are to be expected.

When Betty's honor guard become available they shall be reassigned to Aphids' search.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:37 No.6320212
Let's just do those two, and get the extra searching later.

Half of the delayed hatching eggs.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)02:43 No.6320287

Probably for the best. If I were the black aphid, I'd be thinking of revenge. The only question is whether he's thinking short term or long term.

    >Several of the ants go to alert the entrance guards, and to search for the aphids near the surface, while others travel to the queen's chamber to guard her, and protect the nursery from the aphids. The few remaining ants locate the newborn acidic ants to enlist them in future searching for the aphids.

One aphid, a black aphid, is stopped trying to escape out the main entrance. The ants move to eliminate him where he stands.
A second aphid was found trying to locate the queens chamber. It is not black.

Five of each QB's delayed eggs and the Tyranid delayed eggs have been moved from their spot near the giant mineral cluster. They are oddly cold to handle.

On that note, the guards are authorized to colapse the entrance to stop the aphid if nescisary (though killing it without colapse is preferiable). It is easy to dig a new entrence, its hard to cantain an an hostile intent once it has escaped.

    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)03:14 No.6320669
More simply, once you have the acid ants moving, make them search in teams. When the teams reach an intersection, leave one or two ants at the intersection, to make sure nothing else sneaks by. This way, if one aphid got out and informed the rest, not only do you have a evenly distributed defense with many fall back points and quick reinforcements, but you also make sure that if it is still in the nest it doesn't sneak by your patrols without a fight.
    >> Anti-Fate !Dx8/5aCn.k 10/18/09(Sun)03:28 No.6320875
    >"You've spoken of something. Something new to us. What is this Ignis you speak of?"

The aphids give no answer, beyond further fear pheromones, and some of regret, loss and agony. They seem less communicative without the black one.

The black aphid, and the aphid which ran have both been killed.
    One rogue aphid remains.

As the number of ants searching increases, they cover all of the food chambers, leaving behind a number of ants to protect the queen, and a few in each chamber they search. They have searched through all of the chambers, except the deep hive location, the path to betty's hive, and the treatment center.
Traveling to the deep hive to search through there will take significant time however, and it is currently occupied by a number of ants working to properly excavate it. . . All these locations can be searched shortly, but the deep hive would require devoted search to completely search it in the time it would take to search the rest of the hive.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)03:30 No.6320917

Have the guards at the entrance collapse the exit before moving to eliminate the black aphid.

Begin questioning remaining aphids on who the black aphid was and what Order of Ignis. Also any information on where they are from and how many of them are there would be a bonus.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)03:34 No.6320976
Now this IS interesting. Could be a trick, but what the hell I think we should bite. Let them live, transmit that safety pherimone, and keep an eye on them. Ask what they eat and apoligize that it is not safe to for them to leave.
    >> Anonymous 10/18/09(Sun)03:50 No.6321174
The treatment center and deep hive should be searched first, even if it take time, momentarily halting works and reassigning it's workers to search should make it pretty quick, atmost a few minutes delay. Not that big a deal when compared to the potential troubles that rogue Aphid may cause. The tunnels to Betty's hive can be left alone as long as we watch the entrance to them, we have a hundred warriors at the other end, they cannot cause that much troubles.

I'm still in favor of eliminating the Aphids: they have, so far, proven to be nothing but troubles and while a new source of food would be great to have the potential for trouble seems to outweight the benefits at the moment. We canalways see about hunting down and capturing more in the future.

And if that's all with that, moving on to the Wasp-Arachnid War so we can move on to next turn would be great.
