New Planet Creation thread! Link to the previous here: >>62883008All info is there but as a rundown:>Rolled up a Mining/Prison/Death World that is periodically on fire throughout the year, though some periods are more survivable than others>Marines that descend from the Dangles have set up shop after ditching a call for hunting a possible lead on a Fallen. They were pretty much excommunicated from the Dangles and descendants since sometime in M39>We also rolled up the planet's moons: a Hive Moon that is going to be refluffed after accidentally getting 4000 residents and a quiet Mechanicus Cemetery moonLast bit of fluff:>Fireball seems almost too casual. What about Cinder, or The Kiln, or Slagfall?>Also, I think we should play up the summer inferno as almost an ocean of fire that slowly creeps across the land, and they treat its advance and retreat almost like tides.>Lull: at its lowest temperatures, trade is common on the surface of the planet. Temporary towns may even spring up for those who seek an escape from the cramped deep cities, but permanent structures are rare; little can survive the scouring winds of summer. What little can be built to last are little more than squat round bunkers in the sand.>Ebb and Flow: these brief seasons are the domain of the godly, the desperate and the mad. It is possible to survive on the surface, but the few who can are pressingly aware of the looming threat.>Full: under the full power of the sun, the only ones who dare take to the surface are servants of the Adeptus Mechanicus, clad in the finest gifts they can bestow to survive their journeys. Even then it is a gamble.
>>62900079So should Fireball be a derogatory local name for the Prison Death world? Cinder, Kiln and Slagfall have nice rings to them. And should we roll another creature or the Warband/Forgeworld we're aligned with?
>>62900079"When the Astrographer said this world was on Fire this time of year I thought he meant it was a popular tourist destination...not literally"-Rogue Trader Jaxur Gulin on his first encounter with the "Fireball" and the Lantern Men Chapter of Marines
Anyone? The TorchThe Chapter Monastery of the Lantern Men/Bearers Chapter. They retook it after purging the monstrous and mutated inhabitants once they began to set up shop after taking the world as their new home. The Hive was lost due to a series of accidents and the fleeing of the Noble population leaving the lesser classes to their doom in the failing and overran Hive. The lantern Bearers chose the Deep Hive for it being their and not wanting to construct a brand new Monastery from scratch during the Ebb+Flow and Full seasons. While it took considerable time and effort with the aid of workers from the other Hives and their own loyal Serfs, the Torch was fully operable in under a century after taking it back. not particularyly large, the Hive is actually one of the smaller on the planet but has considerable amenities and life support systems along with being incredibly hard to crack owing to its construction and the seasons of the planet.
I'm here, don't worry.>The Grizz-lans"Someone people say that "Fireball" is deadly because of its weather and temperature. Those people aren't wrong, but in the end, there are ways to shield yourself from such or hide from it.Grizz-lans aren't as merciful. Small, furry fuzzballs - that is the first thing the person sees when they encounter those deadly beasts. Approximately little bigger than cats from old Terra, they are covered in fur of varying coat. They look harmless - and that is least dangerous of surprises those small motherfuckers have for you.If you notice it, the next thing you will do is probably turn your head somewhere else... and that will be the first mistake on way to your end. You won't notice how it's fur suddenly changes color, how it blends into the burned ground and make it disappear. The hunt has started. These fucking bastards have five senses better than anything else on this bloody hellscape - all five of them equally strong and keen. They may pursue a man for twenty miles before they finally give up. And they almost always win in this race. You ain't turtle, man.And then, it will bite you. And that will kill you - those motherfuckers are poisonous. It will kill you in the next twenty minutes unless you have the antidote ready. And you won't have it, because it is rarer than water here. After you die, from your blood melting your own nervous system, they will bury themselves into your body, to eat, drink and rest. That is how it ends with them... usually. May all our sins may be purged. By fire and blood, boiling in us. For the Emperor!"- Captain Rozark "One-Eye" Torkgen, of the Enforcers.
>>62900832Excellent write up. Gives a perfect picture on why these things are feared and hunted.
>>62900993Thanks anon, but I'm worried there are only two of us left. I will be forced to go bed soon.
>>62900832The Grizz-lans are hunted by both Mortal and Astartes not simply for sport or showing their hunting prowess, but also for trapping them for antidote made from their venom. This duty brings much glory and honor to those that traverse the sun blasted wates to retrieve one of the most valued and sought after potions on 'Fireball'. But such hunts are frought with danger both from the planet and Grizz-lans themselves, it is said that half of all hunters that are not Astartes are lost before their 3rd hunt.>>62901099Thanks, and I understand. I was just eating dinner and now i'll have time.
Well this looks like a fruitless endeavor. Evertime *I* start a thread no one comes. Maybe I should restart tomorrow?Still trying to make sense of the lantern Bearers' use of Drop Pods. Unless it is more for symbolism, they seem more to be Close Quarters and possibly Siege oriented given their environments.
>>62901394The second thread is always less popular than the first. It just means the people who are really into the idea can get shit done without distractions.
>>62901394Sorry that it went that way anon. I should be around tommorow. If you want, you may hit me on shitcord or something.
God I love mulled cider with liquorSo the Lanterns likely joined up and started aiding the nearby Mechanicus for favors due to the debacle explained last thread. Mostly for protection both ways and even acting as enforcers when needed against rowdy dissidents and Hereteks. The situation and irony is not lost on the Lanterns' upper echelons since it is rather similar to their former relationship with the Dangles. But despite that, the Lanterns have gained an excellent ally in the Forge World since the now larger than typical Tech marine compliment and Mechanicus trained Layman Serfs has meant they are able to conversely maintain and deploy a slightly greater number of power armor, vehicles and better fleet maintenance. This has allowed them to have a better overall success rate in their missions against the Imperium (and Mechanicus') foes, no matter whoever they may be. The use of Drop Pods is meant to counteract their loss of the Ravenwing they once possessed. They may deploy turret versions more frequently to entrap and lock in opponents to better take them down.
>>62901579The Chapter was off t a rocky and dangerous start when they were formed in M39.xxx. After the splitting of Marines between those that wished to stay and go join other DA Chapters, along with them being quite frankly cut off from their previous Brothers and the loss of their standard DA Organiztion, things were not looking good for the yet to be named Chapter. They sent out feelers to whoever they could ally to for protection and aid. The most prominent were the Rogue Trader dynasty, the Subsectroal Naval Command and the oldest and most powerful Forge World. The RT was too erratic for them as the then current patriarch and scions were prone to flights of fancy and were under investigation by the Inquisition after running afoul too many times, the Naval Command was better but had their own issues, mostly internal. The then current leadership was a den of vipers due to Noble houses vying for the position and the alliance of a Marine Chapter to any of the candidates could lead to the whole thing going up in flames. Thi left the Forge World the last and best choice. They wre a quiet group of manufacters that wished to simply be left alone and make things. While considerable was their might on paper, they rarely flexed it except in retribution against attackers or Hereteks whether ally or enemy. The coice to petition the FW was at first out of uncertainty, as the Chapter was still looking at other possible candidates, performing missions against eneimes and setting themselves up on "Fireball". The first talks were surprisingly cordial and actually were met with enthusiasm by both parties. The FW and Chapter had little care for the greater powerplays by the other players in the Subsector or the others and merely wished to perform their duties to the best of their abilities. As the talks went on, the Chapter leadership and the FW came to the conclusion that an alliance between them would be most beneficial. TBC
>>62901808This relationship would flourish over the centuries after it's signing. The FW would grant aid for vice versa trading technical expertise and come to the Chapter's side when they ran afoul of authorities, while the Chapter spent additional men and time protecting and enforcing the FW's interests. This alliance would become truly cemented during an invasion in mid M40 by the same DP that attacked "Fireball" so long ago. The DP had been amassing forces and strength ever since it was banished to the Warp by CM Apos and it wanted revenge for being mocked by its fellow Daemons. This force was larger than the one launched at "Fireball" so long ago and had managed to slip under Imperial notice somehow to strike at the FW in a surprise attack to knock it out and take its resources and manpower for itself. With them being so close, the best the local Chapter forces and FW could do was bunker in and send for aid while holding the Chaos Invasion at bay fro reinforcements to arrive. How about we roll up the Warband and Prince so we can write a better story? Should it be a regular Warband or CSM?
>>62900079I would want to end the rolls with the moons first>is the only relevant planet in the system?
>>62902199We left off on population and ended up with *4000*. Yes you read that right *4000*. So should we add a few zeroes to make it more dense as a Hiveworld should be?
>>62902268Maybe they've just had an absolutely crippling plague and have been put under quarantine by the planet until they're absolutely sure the place is safe again.
>>62902268that was with the modifier, right?
>>629024184000 is not good though. The Lanterns are better off purging the remainders and cleaning the place up to replace with shipped in migrants or something>>62902436Yeah it was. Because it was a moon I added a negative modifier to simulate it being a moon/small planet.
>>62902268maybe is a hive with the size of a single apartment build
>>62902483"How are they fitting them all in there?""Don't ask"Funny. But probably not
>>62902516"Well sir, Hives are based on population density in general soooo despite the size this building has an absurd density compared to even other nearby Hives.""Shut up Jenkins."
>>62902268So for pop how about a billion? The "Fireball" has a similar pop so the size difference will make the Hive world more standout. in comparison. The HW is more a bunch of cobbled together cities than a true moon.
>>62902789Well since we want a bigger pop how about we roll the govt type? 1d100 plz
Rolled 85 (1d100)Well, I'll get the ball rolling.
>>62903042>Religious (Machine God) Again? Something is fishy, I don't think the FW is as nice or innocent as they seem. They've got the moons and Chapter under their spell likely as some plan to increase their standing. The populations and Serfs are likely heavily leaning toward the FWs sect of Omnissiah worship.
>>62903117Forgot my pic which fits perfectly for this thread.
Rolled 88, 9, 24, 19, 92, 39, 60, 32, 70, 87, 43 = 563 (11d100)>>62903136Was painting a little. Time to see what defenses this Hive Moon gets.
Rolled 88 (1d100)>>62903522Forgot the mercenaries
>>62903522So we got:EnforcersMilitiaStanding ArmyArmorNo TitansNo privatesNavyOrbital StationsPlanetary SilosNo orbital silosNo LasersAnd No MercsThe latter half is particularily lacking for the Hive world in all honesty. So now it's up to you guys to roll up the force quality and size.
Chapter culture:"From the dark we found light; a new purpose to light our way to a new future beyond the shadows of deceit we once cloaked ourselves in. With these Lanterns, we emulate this light to guide us and teach us. Without purpose Man would simply stumble in the dark from their arrogance and hubris. But no longer are we simply going through the motions, we now have true purpose: to truly begin our protection of the Imperium and the Emperor's vision. So say we all."-First sermon by Lantern Bearer MoS Zartandian Ferrantor, on the choosing of the Heraldry and name of the Lantern Bearers.
>>62903929>So another anon said the LB should bear brighter/lighter colors in contrast to the DA and to emphasis their light symbolism. Would stuff like silver, steel and white work? SM typically enjoy being pronounced and highly visible so the enemy know who they're dealing with as psychological warfare.Their armor would be especially burnished and polished to reflect as much light, but they also have overly light sensitive eyes.
>>62903929>"we came to this world as Vagrents, we had lost hope">"then we saw the people">"things most vile assualted them, the world itself seemed to hunt them">"they and we, thanks to our mutations, were driven from the surface">"here in the undercities there is no sun">"The hereitics and Xenos had wiped the light from this world, wiped his light from it">"We saw death on the horizon and prepped to imbrace">"Then something with us, prehapes it was a message form the emperor, shouted "NO">"I shouted "This place is consumed by the blackness, as such, we must be the lanterns"">""neigh, no lantern, a blazing fire, we must save them from the scourge of darkness upon this world, and all which hides with in it"">Then, the man stood, more and more, rallied by the hope the emperor granted in our hour of need">"We grabbed Cutting tools, The PDF's laser weapons, anything and every in reach">"We fought, we won">"Now, The Lantern Men, and the innocents of this world we protect, shall survive, we, all humanity, as long as a single spark remains, shall survive">"Chapter Master Issacmandious Apos, "the Lantern Men's first report"Modified my write fagging for the new lore
>>62904277That works very well anon, good job
>>62904012Yellow, white adn bright grey's then, maybe reds, the eyes have to be black, the have the mutation that makes them blinded by bright lights, we're giving them sunglasses
>>62904317I'll have to put it through the Painter but that sounds good. Not all of it is polished to reflective. Only parts like the rims and such to catch light and be distracting to fool enemy sensors,
>>62904404Here's my take on them, i like both
>>62904447First: MY EYES!Second: I like mine for being more simplistic and emphasizing their originally more down on their luck feel, they were quite poor when they started out as their own Chapter under the new direction set out by Apos.
>>62904467Fair point, what next, how about the guard force, unless this place only has space marine, in which case, heretic or wild life?
>>62904488We rolled up the Mining world's forces, pretty much just Enforcers and Militia. Which makes sense but their would be Serf PDF but that could be later. You want to roll another creature? Or the Warband?

>>62904404>>62904467I like the first one because I don't think we should stray too far from the Dark Angels color scheme. Back in the Great Crusade, the Legio Astartes of the 1st Legion in particular operated here to purge the Xenos and their Empire. It was a long and hard fought campaign, the Roach's budding and asexual reproduction, technology levels, vassals and more made them a long fought struggle that somehow didn't make it into any records. Why the Dark Angels or their descendants do not praise this campaign is a mystery. Even moreso is how widespread the Roaches are throughout the Subsector. They had a considerable grasp on the advancement of genetic engineering and more if the Beetles are to taken at face value."

>>62917751Slaanesh, The Prince: One would think that slaanesh wouldn't really translate to this species, however it does in an extremely interring way, he was born last, though not strong or smart as his brothers, he was charaismatic. the Father had, by this point, not to smite his young until the prove themselves useless, and as such, slaanesh survived until adulthood. one day when his brothers we're arguing, he convinced them to put aside their differences, and go on a hunt with him. where apon he tricked them into helping him to the hunting ground, greatly impressed by his cunning, The father granted him the right to pass in to the physical realm for a moment, where he found odd, delicious creatures, the eldar, and in an act of decadence, consume most of them, cause the eye of terror. when he came back to the realm of the warp, he, for his charisma, was granted the title of heir to the father's throne. it's thought that one die, the father will die, he'll come into this realm, and go on a crusade thorugh the galaxy with his brother and the Akar, cleaning it of all other inferior race.

So new Thread? I'll try and save this one after some more posts. The Akarian Empire once spanned the entirety of the (TBD)Sub Sector with multiple colonies spreading circularly from their origin to the neighboring Sub Sectors. They held considerable sway in the area long ago and even held apparently good relations with the Pre Imperium Human Federation's nearby groups. Warfare between the two was from accounts rare and brief for whatever reason, but after the Fall of the Eldar Empire and the Men of Iron Rebellion, the Akar threw away their civility and prceeded to take avantage of the Humans lack of communications and war machines to rule over them as dictators. THis state of affairs would continue through the Long Night until the arrival of Imperial Explorator fleets and Rogue Traders bringing back news. With this done, forces fro mthe 1st, 3rd, and 5th Legions were assembled to destroy the Akarian Empire and free the vassal Humans from their thrall. What was to be a swift and easy campagn was turned into a meat grinder as the Akarian reproductive abilities and bio engineering came into play and made it a numbers game. While eventually the arrival of forces from the 6th and 9th Legions would turn the tide the body count on both sides was astronomical, mostly when accounting for the Akarians.
>>62918436It is due to the tales of the Akar's defiance during the GC, their continued existence into the modern M42 despite attempts over the millennia to stamp them out and just how tough it is to kill just one that "Akarian" has become the Subsector term for someone who is tough, stubborn and obstinate in their views or bodily fortitude.
Whelp I'm gonna save this thread and maybe someone else can start a new one.
Mini Roaches: creature that actually looks like a huge cockroach, no longer than a foot these creatures are another creation by the Akarians as small and fast swarm units to bog down eneimes while their forces either retreat or encircle the enemy to finish them off. They are cheap to breed and raise making their destruction a non-consequence if fired upon by Soldiers. Come in the dozens at no less than 50 a Swarm, some are reported to be hundreds dense. Larger varieties are known to exist as beasts of burden on and off the battlefield, used to transport cargo or heavy weapons when needed or sent charging into the enemy lines as a last resort. They are also used as pets from many reports on Akarian remnant lifestyles.
