>And the revised casting rules. You can choose any spell or psionic power from the SRD to cast, but you're limited to 3rd level ones at most.
Spells are divided into two categories: prepared spells and channelled spells. Spellcasting units possess the following traits:
Prepared spell capacity - determines how many Spell Points' worth of spells can the soldier prepare. It always takes one action to cast a prepared spell.
Channelling speed - determines how many Spell Points are channeled per action by the soldier. A unit can spend several actions channelling a spell to accumulate more Spell Points.
Some units can only cast prepared spells. The time required for preparing spells varies, depending on the unit.
When casting a channeled spell, only one caster in the group actually casts, while the others simply channel magic for him.
The following conditions prevent both casting spells and channelling magic: Berserk, Exhausted, Panicked, Paralyzed, Unconscious.
The following conditions prevent casting spells, but not channelling magic: Blinded, Nauseated.
When casting a channelled spell, the casting soldier must make Fort check (DC = 10 + total Spell Point cost of the spell) or be exhausted and the channelling ones must make a DC = 10 + Spell Points channelled one or be exhausted.
Example of casting a channelled spell: a unit of five Adult Lindorms channels a spell with a total cost of 8 Spell Points . As they have a channelling speed of 2, they can channel up to 10 Spell Points per action. Therefore, the spell can be cast using a single action. Once the spell is cast, the unit must make Fortitude saves. The lindorm that cast the spell must make a DC 18 one and the others must make a DC 11 one (11.6 rounded down). Failure results in exhaustion. Exhausted lindorms cannot participate in casting further spells.
