Welcome to the second thread for Swords of Avalon, a TG made setting involving Arthurian legend, cyborgs, mecha and giant Robot Dragons. The link below is to the current Google doc that covers the TimeLine leading up to when the setting takes place, that being several decades after the climatic battle of Camlann in which the Rogue AI Morrigan was beaten back by the knights of the Great Corporate houses.Today's thread Topic, The Great Corporate Houses of the Round Table.first thread: >>61535005 → # → #Second thread: >>61597280 (OP) #doc with the lore:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Cm16GUoQtg5IqTe0FM9dKD15TpJGpkOf0Zzi5TS3BGM/edit
>>61680425I remember our Bors had a miner stick, lancelot style, but for example Kay, what? He could transform in a giant in the original ones, how do you marry this to the setting?
>>61680425Have you all figured out what kind of space colonies there are? Island 1, 2, 3, etc?
>>61680597We have Saxons/Celts in the asteroids, so thats possible. O'neal colonies are mentioned too.
>>61680597O'Neill cylinders would probably be more realistic but I feel like Macross style Islands would be more thematic and aesthetically appropriate. Gives more of a fantastical vibe.
>>61680594Kay might be known as shipping magnates? Ranging from small parcel postal services to giant interstellar style heighliners?
>>61680628First and second waves of colonitzation perhaps. O'neal could be early RoME, the Islands/other higher in the tech pole, later. The majority did go to shit when the Dragon uprising.
>>61680628Maybe space island style settlements are either RoMan make or even Sidhe ruins?
>>61680647He was also the right man of Arthur, being his stepbrother, depending of the tale an amazing knight or a drooling retard.Shiping doesn't sound bad, but banking, so people than has debts with them loves to shitpost about them?
>>61680680Kay could also work as the current CEO of PenDragon? Not the most stable man in his late years, he is?
>>61680699Perhaps though I'd almost say that having Guinevere act as PenDragon CEO(perhaps while suggesting a merger with Lancelot?
>>61680729The war was lots of years ago, KAY the corporation could be the ones in charge (in theory) but not that respected. Probably bad decisions along the years so they are way, way less powerful than they were and more or less keep there for tradition, the other Corps biding they time to make a move or something.
>>61680747That's a good point. I'd almost say PenDragon is still headless. Their lords bickering over who should inherit the throne.
>>61680816It would fit better with the legend, after Arthur the britons were doomed to failure after all.Whou would be the sneaky corps?
>>61680898Tristan maybe he was a renowned archer though knightly endeavors and being sneaky are kinda hard to mix.though perhaps there might be a knight that fits though?
>>61680959Nah, I Like Trystan, I don't remember if he had another stick, but it suits him.
>>61681042His love for isolde and rivalry with Palamedes.
>>61679950>>61680038>>61680277ok, instead of waifus we should do something like corporate houses. But keep waifus in mind when we need some exposure at like thread 6 or 7, because having a waifu picture as the thread image will attract new posters.
>>61681105Seeing as you know Arthurian legend is filled with literal princesses its not hard. But, with that said lets focus on the great Houses. For example how did PenDragon form? Were they a company from RoMan days?
>>61681105You want the /a/ crowd? >>61681178Probably one of the terraforming ones, seeing they were in Mars at first. It would tie nicely with Merlin. Probably one of the big ones in RoME, helping with the expansion of Humanity and being one of the pillars. One of the original makers of Dragons along the Morrigan and Mordred? Probably why they were ones of the ones to rise and figth the menace, they understood part of the weird sidhe tech, and could counter it. Ties with venus could work nicely too.
>>61680729>>61680747>>61680816Guinevere, as the wife of Arthur, is the remaining majority owner of PenDragon. Yet she has never been the CEO, preferring to stay in isolation and sometimes visiting the House Lancelot. Instead the leaders of KAY Shipping now head the Corporation, being a distant relatives and having large amount of shares. Most other Share-Lords however dislike the House of Kay so the situation is not stable as Guinevere declines to intervene, or as other say, care at all.>>61681178With that kind of name, I would say that PenDragon Corporation was the first to build the Dragon Terraforming Machines, which gave them a huge start during the RoME days. A fucking dark shame for them but they repaired their past deeds with Uther and Arthur.
>>61680959>>61681042House of Tristan is the sneaky and bitter house because they failed. Isolde Holdings and Palamedes Gunnery completed their Merger thirty years ago but the Tristanites still hate the Palamedii for "stealing" Isolde from them. The Tristanite Shipbuilders are one of the best makers of Castles and Arrow-fighters. Recently they have tried their hands with Spears and Lances as well. The results have been varied - and Tristanites have blamed he Palamedian sabotage.
>>61681277Of the Great Houses PenDragon is among the oldest though KAY proceeds them. PenDragon began as explorers, venturing into the stars to seek glory and treasure. During the days of RoME they became skilled Terraformers crafting the mechanized aspects of the great machinery that turned worlds habitable. In their time PenDragon would adapt, developing a name as the creators of some of the first Cavaliers. During the decline of RoME PenDragon suffered its first schism as a notable researcher Morgan and several executives left the great Company, adopting the name Mordred innovations they would rise to prominence in time.
>>61681358Guinevere should be dead and buried, why is she alive?
>>61681522Life extending technologies?
>>61681532In the French romance, she ended in an abbey I think it was.
>>61681559Perhaps she's gone to exile upon a planet of the monks?
>>61681178as if you need to worry about the actual gender of the legendary figure to make them a waifu
>>61681469During the fall of RoME PenDragon rose to its true glory. The Corporate headquarters upon Mars, now Terraformers to support life became a bastion for those seeking shelter. From Camelot PenDragon exerted influence and developed a firm grip on the new dynamics of power. Retooling whole industries to support the planet Olympia was renamed Camelot and in high orbit the ancient mercantile shipyards changed to become drydocks for the budding fleet of castle ships and space going fighter craft. However, it was during this time as well that PenDragon working alongside scholars of the Green Bible and the brightest other corporations and Roman research entities set to work upon s grand project. Merlin.
>>61681870It would be almost a century after the project began Merlin would awaken during this time the great corporations would form bonds and agreements upon the administration of affairs.this would be the prototype of the Round Table.
>>61681946These decades would pass quietly as the budding polity consolidated its control of the inner system. As Merlin came online it was charged with a number of tasks including the reactivation of the great Starways that once linked the galaxy. It would be in this era that PenDragon no longer a humble manufacturer would rise to prominence. For, among the ruins of a Sidhe satellite island encased in stone would be what the first proper cavalier, Caliburn or, at least the basis upon which it would be built.
>>61682146So thoughts? Should I keep expanding?
>>61682194Sure man. Its looking solid so far.
>>61682194Hell, yeah. This is good stuff.
>>61682146PenDragon would experience its golden days in this era. Its cavalier prototypes advancing the technology in New and fascinating ways and profits growing as it opened into new markets. During this Golden era the Round Table would come into its own rebuilding the network of Starways and adding corporate houses from the nearby Alpha Frankish systems. One, Lancelot Dynamics would become s close ally to PenDragon and a stalwart foundation member in the years to come. But, this was just fleeting moments before Calamity once more would come crashing down.though Caliburn was perfected under Uther PenDragons tenure it would be unable to be mass produced in time for the Dragon War.
What about having some kind of political wedge driven between PenDragon and Lancelot Dynamics? Something like rumors going around that Lancelot Dynamics wants to gain greater autonomy from PenDragon, or that PenDragon is steadily losing its place as leader of the Round Table?
>>61683097>>61683097PenDragon would face its darkest hour shortly after the first wave of attacks. Though the great house knew what was coming. There was little thst could be done. The Starways which met over Mars flooded with Lair ships even as Merlin battled with Morrigan for control. What defenders were at the ready scarcely were prepared. The skies of mars burned that day. Castle ships fought the horde even as its majority tore away to attack what is now Avalon, and at the Time the seat of power of the Round Table and its vast fleets. Uther had given Chase with his personal Castle a might Regency Class that tore through lines of foes and loosed dozens of Arrow-fighters into their flanks. But, it was for not. The Great Castle and its Lord were dragged to the planet Avalon, burning up in the atmosphere. PenDragon now in its darkest hours needed an heir. And it would be the estranged Son Arthur that would take the throne.
>>61683143One of the ideas that I was ruminating on was that there were accusations of some members of PenDragon having been gifted Lancelot stock. It was also proposed that Lancelot is a bit sketchy with extremely good PR. All the Alpha Frank corps could be this way.I could see some conspiracy theorists claiming that Arthur was taken out by a Lancelot force during the final battle and point to the newly spun-off Galahad claiming the hotly contested Siege Perilous (a resource wealthy area) without question under unusual circumstances.
>>61683484Thst could be a fun option. So,should each seat at the table be tied to a certain region of space?
>>61683484I like that, the way Lancelot is tied to the early stuf is sketchy as fuck.
>>61683866I was thinking that Corps could be ranked sort of like this: (numbers subject to change)>Knight - Corps that can field and maintain at least 1 Cavalier+cohort or have equivalent resources>Baron - 10+ Cavaliers or equivalent resources>Viscount - 50+ Cavaliers or equivalent resources>Count/Earl - 250+ Cavaliers or equivalent resources>Marquess/Margrave/Landgrave - 500+ Cavaliers or equivalent resources>Duke - 1000+ Cavaliers or equivalent resources>King - 5000+ Cavaliers or equivalent resources>High King - PenDragon which has the resources to field and maintain over 10k on it's own.The Round Table would be something like the Fortune 500 made up of the 500 most valuable Individual Corps and Corporate Groups (Individual Corps that are pooling their resources to have a member represent them on the Table) in the Avalon system.
Hey, I'm just dropping in here and have no idea what's this about, but is there any way I can make a certain vaguely Arthurian-themed biomechanical space ninja relevant to the discussion?
>>61683866That goes a bit far. >>61682194Me digs.>>61681522Guinevere being alive is cooler. (And I was somehow under the impression that it has been only 70ish years since the conflict?) She is one of the last living remnants of the past era, but old and fragile. She is the True Queen that holds the peace in check. When she dies the really bad PenDragon Inter-Board-Conflict is bound to begin swiftly>>61685135Makes sense as a rough estimate.
>>61685222What kind of Mecha he is piloting and for who he fights for? What are his achievements? Why is he here?Biomechanical stuffs are not that much dealt with here, but heavy cybernetics yep.
>>61685222Why not? Warframe style space ninja would work well as the Men-at-Arms for a stealth Knight that uses a Dagger class Cavalier.
>>61685366>>61685222Honestly they almost feel like an extra dangerous variant of the Dragons Teeth monsters.
>>61685302Warframes are like condensed Evangelions remotely piloted by child psykers. One such warframe is named Excalibur and he wields an ethereal blade of blinding light and laser beam slashes. I don't know if this fits with whatever you guys have going, but if it doesn't, some of the designs are still pretty cool to use.
Went through the old threads and copied lots of stuff to the Doc. Reformatted it as well a bit, it is still chaotic: Particularly the timeline contains quite many parts differently compared what have been mentioned here. Did not have time to start fixing that yet.Tried my best to at least find most of mentioned corporations. There was surprisingly lot of stuff already, particularly in the first thread. I recommend scouring it for more stuff.
>>61685520I could see certain Dragons having super specialized Dragons teeth that act like warframes or maybe that's how Morrigans servants manifest?
>>61683236>>61683236Arthur had for several years been a squire to the CEO of KAY shipping. Here he spent his youth learning the ways if knighthood upon the vast city ships that sailed the Starways. Upon hearing the death of his father and attack upon his homeland struck out to claim his throne.Upon Mars he delved into perfecting Caliburn and, in the second battle of Luna the first true modern cavalier took to the field. The sword hewn free from the stones of knowledge stolen from a distant land.
>>61685848Morrigan, ever crafty in her ways knew that the Dragons would need a higher mind to command them and so, with dark techno sorcery trapped and warped minds of knights to her bidding. Sealing their essence within engramatic mind cores hidden carefully. These cursed souls are then might inhabit bodies of either the living or, more often craft tailor made forms, biomechanical shells that move swiftly across the battlefield acting as conduits for their master and rallying the dragons teeth to their call and able to rend a man from Cuirass with its cold metallic grasp.
>>61689004These phantom warriors are each unique. Bearing some semblance to their former selves weather intentionally or not. Often these horrid servants emerge to battle ahead of main forces appearing from the void to ambush unprotected locations or sabotage vital foundry works.
>>61689004So...a suitable not!warframes?
Though Arthur was glamorous upon the battlefield he was less so in the Board Room. Valiantly he fought but often was stymied in decisions in his own House. Even as he had pushed for better csvsliee designs and standards his own board opted to settle for lesser models.
>>61685222hi guys is me armentho the op of the thread before this one,im backi like this idea, this would be the enemy of this campaing, the new weapon of morrigan, corrupted knights with dragon bio tech, fused in a abominationthe darkest hour of mankind has yet to come
>>61691487For now I assumed we were setting the groundwork so that DM's can introduce their own BBEG.But the idea is pretty good. Having Morrigan corrupt existing knights and add dragon parts to them can make for some very instesting concepts or fights. Especially if Morrigan manages to corrupt a particularly strong named NPC and makes them become the champion.
>>61692477>>61691487Yeps, focus on the settinngmaking but Dark Knights are always fun.>>61689004>>61689203We already had corrupted Mordred Cyber-Knights, these are good evolution. Yet wasnt Morrigan supposed to be gone/splintered after the Dragon War? I suppose that if we keep these current-era Dark Knights and their origins mystery for now. They might originate from the Dragon War, be recent creations, some hex of Morrigan or something completeöy else.
>>61692477It would make it easy to do some new enemies alright. Also slow night? Not many new people contribooting.
>>61693676Happens with it being the middle of the week. And its Morrigan was splintered which might mean disparate pieces of her are doing that sort of stuff.
>>61693676busy jacking off into a fluid mechanics book. I'm thinking that if I can stick enough pages together I can skip the chapter.
>>61694505not a bad idea.
>>61694311Hmmm.. could even some of her pieces fighting with eachother? Hmmmmmmm>Long range recons into Dragon-held territories have noted some Lairs battling eachother. Is this a result of a glitch in their programming, different Splinters of Morrigan fighting eachother, Merlin hijacking lairs or something else entirely? Round table is undure what to do about this but Lancelot has proposed, once more, a full on assault.
>>61695423>Lancelot has proposed, once more, a full on assault. When do they not propose full on assaults? Aslo, we talked about the Franks and their Gene Lines a thread or two ago, anything more on them? How far do they go? Normal medical enhancements (cancer elimination, mental disorder curing , cholesterol regulation etc.) Or do they go full Headd Liner super soldiers?
What is known about the peasantry of this realm?
>>61697233Not much, but I would say, bieng a neo-feudal instead of true feudal, that would vary a lot between corps. Like I would see Lancelot cogs being indoctrinated as hell, Bors bein the soul of the Corps and getting more "power" etc.
>>61696992Distopic would be cooler, do you know about the Cetagandans from the Miles Vorkosigan saga? They had different projects for they Upper class genetic stock, The nobles and the Warriors, perhaps something like that.
>>61685274That goes a bit far. Far from what, exactly?
>>61698846I'm not sure I mean in history one of the biggest rewards a king could give was land. I could see the Round Table behaving the same way with rights to resources in star systems systems
When Clarent fell. Morrigan suffered for the first time in its existence. The AI, devoting a large portion of itself into the Cavalier and blending with the consciousness of its Pilot, the CEO of Mordred Corp, twisted beyond recognition. As the battle progressed damage to Clarent and the pilot filtered back into the grand mind. And with it it for the first time in its existence, pain. It lashed out across the networks it had built, dragons plummeting to the planets below and lair ships exploding in the void. With a conscious effort it began to set forth fracture points within. Points where as it suffered the great mind might cleave and break cleanly to be rebuilt at s later time...But, Morrigan could not predict its own fear. Even as the great mind split and fractured. The components gained will and vigor. Taking hold of fleets, crafting new personas. These splinter minds aware of their fate lash out against each other and during Camlann set forth picosecond feedback loop that cracked and destroyed the cleaving protocols. Morrigan had in its fear set forth its own demise in a way. In the years to come. These fractures would coalasce into new minds and powers, asserting their will upon fleets and competing to reunite with the others subservient.
>>61700417These minds, free from their ghostly queen began to deviate from their original state. Some, no longer compelled to conquer took planets to make their own personal fiefdoms toying with the ecosystems or colonists. Others pursued eradication of the others to reasorb their brothers and sisters and become whole again. Some reason thst Morrigans Core persona still persists biding its time until it might capture its unruly children.
>>61700521Per protocol. Thoughts and opinions?
>>61698458It could also go like A brave new world, with different kinds of "Humans". Scientifics, Warriors,Specialized workers etc.Tought they could end too similar to Clans from BT.
>>61700575I like it, tough I'm of the ones than prefer to leave a "Mythic" feeling of not sureness of what happened. It would explain a lot too. Like very early in the first thread we had the Dragon empires? They could be scions/shards of Morrigan than want to take a different path, perhaps the old terraforming/Helping humans duty, and are oposed to the Main ones/mordred corps.
>>61700629True, I think beyond a very specific set of Bloodlines most of humanity is baseline without the risk of genetic disorders. Perhaps in Alpha Frank Corps 'Promotionx' are generational where unique genetic markers are added to the employees germline ensuring them rank.
>>61700644It kinda takes away mystic bsckground stuff but the splintering also opens up neat concepts
>>61700575>>61700644Reveals a bit too much in my mind. Whole Last Battle should be shrouded in legends. This is too omnipotent, takes away the mystery of what the fuck is goingg on with the Dragons. And how would the players know this? And previously the Mordred CEO and Morrigan had been different entities, fusing them is too easy.
>>61700760Fair point, may be if we ever need it a GMs section might make use of it,
To be a common man upon a world is not unlike the heyday of Earth, thanks to advancements of medicine and science much of the population is healthy. Employment within a corporate fiefdom is all but guaranteed be it directly to it or any number of ancillary support groups within it. Indeed this is highly I intentional as the Round Table learned well from its forebears.Employees of the great houses are afforded some luxuries, such as the ability to travel off world/station or partake in such events as the great cavalier tournaments in the form of being given seating or allowed behind the scenes access to hangars to marvel,st their masters works.
>>61702429And thats for the core worlds. The fridges and dragon-devastated deadlands are completely different matter.Speaking of which, should we have some wild and untamed locations, full of wonder, problems and adventure? I suppose that these could take inspiration from the dark places of British myths.>Yet the first that comes to my mind is the Sherwood Forest... dammitThe Planet Bath was a popular turist resolt during RoMe. Yet it was devastated after its fall (majority of surviving population fled underground as nuclear explosions wrecked the surface) aand now just roaring bandits and treasureseekkers roam its network of tunnels wide enough for a Cavalier. There has been several RoME era relics discovered in the deeper tunnels, but boiling steam is the least problem one can find in those forgotten caverns.
>>61703450remember too that the colonization waves had several rimsthe core rim (avalon systems and corporations HQ systems)the inner rim (industry and resources come from there)the middle rim (this sector of the galaxy is on a rebuilding process, because of the distance, they are relative behind on terms of political, economical and tech influence, yet they are the first line of defense of the corporations if something happen)the outer rim (the more devastated systems, there isn't real government or hierarchy, here the vigilantes and criminals fight each other, minor houses and knights seek glory, expeditions try to recover ancient tech of Rome and the sidhethe outer rim is the new wild west, a land of dangers and opportunities)unnexplored, this places are completly out of control the corporation, only the bravest and better prepared souls adventure there,no cartography,no reinforcements,no help, lost colonies of rome, ancient tech of sidhes, remants of morrigan armies, anything is possible
>>61699493It's an interesting idea. Which is why I wanted to understand what exactly the complaint was at >>61685274. I get that they think it goes too far into something, but what exactly? You cannot really discuss on opinion that does not even attempt to justify itself.
>>61703609The midstars are lands of blue collar life. Far from the great Core systems of the various galactic powers. The midstars are industrious but, hotly contested. Corporate warfare is nothing surprising to the common folk but, it is also where a person might find wealth to send to their beloved ones. These worlds act as the beating heart of humanity as megalithic factories orbit stars processing asteroids into usable alloys and components. Upon planetary surfaces farms and fisheries produce gigatons of edible food to feed those above. And watching it all are Corporate lords watching from their castle ships.
>>61705824i like it,add it to the important places
Do you think the setting should dabble in cyberpunk a little? Given that straight up warfare has been banned between corps, I can see some serious undercover corporate infowars and infiltration going on between the various members of the Round Table. Not to mention "world being ruled by corporations" is the standard cyberpunk setting.
>>61708276i think it will depend on the colonizing rimcore and inner rims that are the more controlled and secure by the corporations would be the theater of political and economical wars at the better ciberpunk stylesmid rim would be the new wild west, lot of move, chances, dangers etcouter rim would be post apocalipticunknown star would be fanatasie and lovecraftnian vibesall of this linked together with the sci fy lore
>>61708276It's a rather NobleDark Cyberpunk setting imho.
>>61708276I'd be down for it, get some shadowrun-kinda play for when the mecha aren't involved.
>>61708276I wouldn't mind having some of that, but I prefere the angle of Mech monster hunter myself.
>>61711667Nice looking CuirassWill be writing up the Second Battle of Luna later today. The defence of Merlin, fall of the old Gladiuses and the arrival of Arthur.
So wait, does this setting actually have mecha or is it just power armors?
>>61712164Power armour (usually called Cuirass) is the _least_ a soldier needs to be relevant on the battlefield. >>61661957Knights then pilit mechas between 2-10 metres in lenght. They are called Cavaliers and are the top-of-the-line killing machines. Some can fly, most are just mobile. There is also Hammer-tanks, piloted by monks or mercenaries and Arrow-spacefighters. The interstellar space-cruisers are modular Castles. This situation evolved because of the Dragon Conflict, where mankind faced an existential thread of the AI Morrigan and Mordred with their Cybernetized Dragons
>>61712081>fall of the old GladiusesB-b-ut I don't want to cry.
>>61712164You get from Power armors, to landmates/scope-dogs to not-gundams in power. Of course, the later are way more rare than the others and only the Corps or some rare freelances can field them. Tanks are also pretty used, specially be the Green Monks, with some variety depending of what they expect to fight. Castles are modular vehicles able to descend in athmosphere and bring supplies or military hardware, with the very rare Fusion reactions powering them.Arrows need to be most fleshed out, and they are the kinds of space fighters.
>>61712502*Modular space vehicles. *Fusion Reactors.
>>61712393>This situation evolved because of the Dragon Conflict, where mankind faced an existential thread of the AI Morrigan and Mordred with their Cybernetized DragonsSounds familiar...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU7kxXVzxBU
>>61712393>>61712502So a little bit of everything, I can dig it.
>>61712534That was the best part of the whole series (the first episode was pretty good too), the rest, apart of some mechs, very meh. Also yeah, it's a kitchen pot kind of setting based in arthur, monster could have been aliens or AI, and it married nicely in the end with the legend.
>>61712569Not bashing the setting, I like it. Just pointing out how really similar that part of it is.But since the mobile armors and Calamity War background lore are the coolest parts of IBO, to me it's a good similarity.
>>61712542Yup, I prefer that too. >>61712594Honest, it was the best part. The idea of diging out mechs was cool as fuck, like one of the Orguss ovas.
So I get everything is based on Arthurian legend, but how far out of theme would the myths of other parts of the British Isles be?Say for example my waif-.... ahem, a character idea, Scáthach, "warrior-queen" of an outer fringe world and original pilot of the Spear class Cavalier "Gáe Bolg," which would eventually be passed on to her student, Cú Chulainn.
>>61712731My biggest grip with waifus is people doesn't get a measure with them, autistically bringing them on every time they can? Stahp. Doing something cool without going overboard? Come bro. Don't start sniping OPs with them and post them exclusively like in lots of /a/, /co/,/v/ threads, and we will go along fine.>>61703609Seems solid enough to build stuff, unles some other anon gets a better idea.
>>61712731There are planets with the "Celts"/"gaels"/etc orbiting in asteroids/space stations, I don't see why not..Also the Alpha Franks and Saxons, some talk about a not Spanish recoqnuista. Very early one about some dragons and humans cooperating with East Asian influences.
>>61712816Sounds homo bro
>>61714743Ohh come onI agree with >>61712816If the girls coukd be done in a mature way they would be fun addition. But adding just pictures of known anime girls or cheesecakes just distracts us from the fun parts of creating a setting.>>61713932Dsmmit I dig Lost Planet mechs. Probably Dagger/Gladius scale Cavaliers in this setting?
>>61714827That was part of the idea if I Recall well, lots of the early mini mechs were civilian units used in terraforming, armed in an adhoc way to fight the dragons with more or less sucess. After that they were used to maintain Cavaliers and support them, users of them called Squires.Personally I view them as the most widespred kind of mecha, but not up to snuff compared to the knigths, so even people without that much resources can use them, like knifes in medieval times. While being a cavalier user its nearly like being nobility.
>>61715084Most likely, I could see squires being straight support mech.
The outerrim/Hinterstars Beyond the midstars lays the outer rim. These vast swathes are marked up on maps with a simple phrase 'Here be Dragon's upon worlds of the outer rim man has regressed. The scars of the dragons war are still fresh as well. Decaying battlefields litter the stars and ancient RoMan ruins as well.but these are lands plagued by dangers raiders and their ilk travel the space. But the most feared are dragons and their Lair ships which venture out from the black depths.
>>61715699>>61715699The worlds of these far fling reaches are wild an untamed. Whole societies having risen and fallen before the greater whole of humanity refund them. Upon some strange and bizarre Sidhe ruins rise from the regolith or steaming alien jungles and upon others the great Dragon Terraformers mindlessly continue their task and churn out mechanical beasts to protect their planets. Tribes and races of men coexist with them, some even rekindling the fires of civilization in new bold ways.
Of Morrigans brood, the most feared are the True. -a saying from Avalonian space. The True Dragons of Morrigans hordes are some of the single most deadly weapons ever made. Often called Black Kings or Royal Dragons. These beasts posses a malign cunning and overwhelming power.
>>61719356True dragons served as Morrigans commanders during the Dragons war, each a distinct and horrid monster all its own. And should it fall in battle it would reappear in the weeks and months following. Born in some dark, place far from the light of stars. True dragons were and are an immense threat, built with a vicious purpose and equipped to rend apart whole fleets of ships the monsters each have felled countless knights in their time be it with Vibro Claws and Fangs, superheated Plasma blasts or even more arcane methods of inflicting pain and misery. To add insult they are covered in thick Cero-laminate scales that shrug off most attacks and their massive shield wings allow for them to take flight from not only planets but into the depths of space, ascending or descending to wreak havoc.
>>61718613Dragons and sidhe, what could go wrong.

>>61720054>>61719356Great, what kind of primal horror are those, sounds like a World Devastators from SW with a capital ships worth of weapons.
>>61720270What I was going for really. I picture True Dragons being Morrigans 'flagships' for fleets. Acting as a command point and dealing out the hurt in equal measure.
>>61715084>>61712432>>61712081The Two Battles of LunaThe Dragon Conflict almost ended during the third year of the war.The Dragons of Morrigan, after Devastating Mars and slaying Uther PenDragon (>>61683236 ), attacked the heart of resistance: The AI Merlin himself. The First Battle of Luna was a quick one. Merlins Mountain, as it was called already by then, possessed far too many defenses to be attacked from the orbit. Even the mightiest Salamanders and Lairs Morrigan tried to use were instantly vaporized by Quad-Laser turrets. De-orbitalized space stations and comets failed as well, and she could not hack into Merlins system, for It was aware of the demons attempts. Therefore the Dragons attacked the closest spaceport, Mare Imbrium, intending to quickly capture it and use it to land the rest of the force.Yet the defenders led by Lord Kentake Gawain in his Short-sword, put up an crazy fight but with a plan: By causing severe but not ultimate casualties to the Dragons, they forced Morrigan to commit more and more of her first wave to the spaceport. One by one Kentakes mighty knights and men-at-arms were torn apart, but they ultimately succeeded: When over eighty percent of the Dragon Forces were near Mare Ibrium, he broadcasted his final message: "For Earth and Merlin" and detonated his hidden storage of old black nukes. The devastation was total: even the mightiest dragons were vaporized by those weapons of a darker era. Thus the First Battle of Luna had been won, but it had came with a terrible price: Most modern Cavaliers, guns and tanks of Luna had been assembled there and no-one had survived. Merlin was left almost defenseless. And It predicted that Morrigan would return in three to two weeks.[cont.]
>>61721019>One by one Kentakes mighty knights and men-at-arms were torn apart, but they ultimately succeeded: When over eighty percent of the Dragon Forces were near Mare Ibrium, he broadcasted his final message: "For Earth and Merlin" and detonated his hidden storage of old black nukesOh fug.
>>61721019I'm not crying its just the regolith in my eyes.
>>61721019Then Merlin summoned help. Not ever again It has done so. For Its summon was literal: All soldiers, Cavaliers and fighters of The Solar System received a shared vision where a bearded avatar of Merlin called them to Luna. The exact message it said has not survived, but everyone understood the gravity of the situation; "If Merlin would fall at this point - or worse, be corrupted - there would not be resistance towards Morrigan. Only lonely screams of the last of the humanity."Some have later reported as well that Merlin at this vision appointed Arthur as his fathers successor, but not everyone remembers this. The defenders had to wait for two agonizing days to notice that the Summons of Merlin were working. It happened that all across the Solar System men and women said goodbye to their friends and familiers, took up their guns, armours and ships and departed. When asked where they were going, all answered the same: "To Luna"First to arrive where those who had their own ships: Few Spears and Javelins followed by squads of Castles of various ages, conditions and sizes. Whole Quivers of pirate Arrows just appeared from their hideouts from the Asteroid Belt.Second to arrive were the military forces. Understanding the threat of Morrigan, whole Companies sent major parts of their troops while entire Mercenary Troops arrived. The final Merc-Legions too joined the defenders. This wave were the most organized but most were tired, having already faced the Morrigans Dragons. The Third wave was the largest and most surprising. Old and rusty Cuirasses and Cavaliers had been dug out of museums and storages, rearmed and sent to Luna. Tanks that could barely move. Squires hastily weaponized. Parts of Cuirasses held together by quick welding and duck-tape. Their pilots varied from teenagers to grandmothers.Their guns were sharpened sticks, ancient rifles and rail-cannons so worn that they could only fire once. But it did not matter, for they were there.[cont.]

>>61722499And just one of many.>>61722476Not me this time actually >>61722309Keep up the good work dude.
>>61722309It was soon noted that majority of forces present, over two thirds, were RoME-era tech: Gladiuses of various conditions littered the Mountain, some using their original machine guns yet majority at least upgraded. Several hundred patched-together Galea Cuirasses had also found their way to Luna, although their spaceworthiness had always been questionable. This time they were just a welcome sight. Even some Cudgels and Pilums had arrived. Their ancient threads were never designed for the low gravity of Luna, but they were hastily either given extra weights or converted into static turrets.Of particular note were the Third and the Ninth, the two last Merc-Legions, descendants of the real Legions of RoME. Their Legate-Owners had often been enemies in the past, but this time they worked as in unison.Although the commander of the defence forces, Chaplain Pietinoff, remarked that "The Corps had apparently sent only their old RoME catalogues" it was a glorious sight, never again to be seen again.Of course, there were some modern variants as well. Spear-Knights in particular were fearless in the airless canyons while Arming Swords and Axes were organized into a tight counter-charge Fist.Their deployment was three-layered: First was the volunteers. Both Legions went there with few noble scions. Then were the Third Wave of ramshackle warriors and the surviving Tank-Monks. They had dug trenches and would defend them to the end.Last Layer was the Counter-Fist and all the assembled artillery. Some castles had been crash-landed to make immobile fortresses with only their guns crewed. All ships and craft that could not fight were sent away, evacuating as many civilians as they could. It has been noted that no Green Monk left, they all vowed to protect Merlins Mountain, and if all else failed, to destroy the AIs core. Morrigan could not be allowed to corrupt Merlin or access his databanks.[cont.]>>61722778Ye do good job as well D-K.
>>61722814Arthur and his forces had left Mars (>>61688505 ) immediately after receiving the Summons, but even with the maximal burn they were three days from Luna when the Dragons arrived.Never the full amount of Dragons who landed on Luna have been counted, but their dark scales blackened the white lunar horizon. It was initially believed that they were led by the dreaded Lofyr but later it was revealed that the actual leader had been Tygeres the Bloodclaw. At least three Lairs landed around the Merlins Mountain, and from them a wast horde of Dragons and beasts bursted forth. Brood Mothers feasted on lunar ruins and thus even more increased the numbers of the opponents. Vast swarms of Wyverns clouded the stars. Hungry Griffins were everywhere. Basilisks headed straight for Merlin itself. Lindwurms enjoyed the Lunar dust and its cover. Huge masses of the early war primitive Dragons Tooth's marched towards the Mountain. And proudly at least seven True Dragons moved among the forces, some flying, some walking, some even burrowing. None of them displayed much caution or care of their underlings - they all were there just to be the first one to reach Merlin. The Defenders joined together for a single prayer: "When I fall, another takes my place. We will fight until no one is left. With us will die another mountain of Drakes. For Earth and Merlin."And so the Second Battle of Luna had begun.[cont.]

>>61723443Funny. The thing I remember best about the Battle was how quiet it was.We all had turned off most of our infotech - even the usual sound synths you usually use in space battles. The belief was that Morrigan could hack into anything electronic and even turn your Cavalier into a Dragon, you trapped inside as your suit massacred your friends. But yes, there were no other sounds apart from your own breathing, some automated alarms and the muted sounds of the Cavaliers servos and guns felt trough your seat. During the first day, there was some radio comms at least, but then that bitch began to play this weird song over all our frequencies. It was such sad sound, like a womans wail but there was always something else in the background. Merlin fought back quickly with a different spellsong and after that radios were useless mumble. So we were forced to just use hand signals and lights. Pretty standard stuff but honestly no-one needed them. We all knew why we were there, it was rather pointless to try anything fancy. The first day, I honestly did not see much. My old Gladius did not have that good magnification so I just saw the Ninth Legion charge forward to their doom and after they had died we begin firing like hell. Honestly my chief concern was that I would run out of ammo before the Dragons got to us.Yet... It all was somehow so clean. White lunar surface, the grey of smoke, the blackness of space and their scales.Tracers, explosions and laser blasts of many colours and their distant blue plasma blasts. Actually it was beautiful. Some would say breathtaking. Then they got to us and that was something else.> The Memoirs of Sellsword Griflet.[cont.]

>>61724799Remember that most of our stuff had not actually been prepared for low-gravity fight? Yeah it showed. They kinda just ran at us the final miles : Up close we noticed that they had upgraded their scales and our close range guns did not do shit to them. So the bigger Dragons just kinda... began toying with us.The final Legion was torn asunder, their boss killed in an instant. But then the big ones just began having fun: They dismantled single Men-At-Arms or crunched on tank turrets while eating most of our combined firepower. They seemed to enjoy wrecking us and sending pieces flying in that low gravity. Some medium sized ones of course died and helluva lot of those little shits but the real Dragons were immortal. Until the Legionares had enough of traditional tactics and just fukking charged at the things. It took something like ten Gladii to wrestle a Griffon to the ground and then one or two would just blaze everything they got to the fuckers weak spots: mouth, eyes, wing-connects and so forth. That did the trick. But it was complete madness and their casualties were horrible. But the dragons had gotten into the only spot were we actually had an manpower advantage. So we began swarming at the biggies. It honestly did not matter much if you had some civilian walker or rusty old machine, swarm the dragon with enough bodies and it was at least momentarily open. And yeah the Cuirassiers.. They did not have it easy either. They mostly protected our Tanks from the little fuckers, for their weapons were completely useless to even medium drakes. But they still tried: I saw some old Galeas climb inside a wounded Basilisk and detonate a score of anti-tank bombs. And even then the Dragon did not die of that, it was just pissed off. That was the time when my battle ended. I was charging at one Tyger when a Drake took a shot at me. Went straight through my hull, knocked the engine out and... well.. cut this leg off. > The Memoirs of Sellsword Griflet.

>>61730614That sounds ominous. I vot for letting sidhe fuckery very vague, knowing everything steals some of the magic.

>>61732624Completely agree.A minor addition to >>61730614Recent surveys have revealed that the ruins of Babylon are mostly not Sidhe-based. >>61738295My mistake. Though I guess how much do,they fall into the stereotype you see of them
The weapons of the Cavaliers are as varied as the knights that command them.however, there are some distinctive classes of weapons and limits to what any Cavalier can carry. Solid munitions: there has, since their inception been a need for a piece of metal moving very fast to kill someone upon the battlefield. From the massive smoothbore Bors shotguns designed to blow enemy units into scrap to the elegant Gallahad recoiless rifle that can punch through heavy armor from afar rifles, pistols and other similar weapons are used universally. Though they need ammo, they do not draw from the Cavaliers Reactor making them an enticing option for those units that must weigh the benefits of firepower over having the energy reserves to function.
>>61738701I don't dislike it. What about energetic weapons? And talking about it, how do knights operate? Do they use a battery or an engine?
>>61738701Arc weaponry: Most arc weaponry takes the form of simple short lived melee weapons based off of ancient plasma thrusters. These do not tax reactors but, are very short lived. In contrast more advanced versions exist which use a contained arc to create a super heated cutting edge, these draw directly from a Cavaliers reactor however and can only be used by larger more advanced models.
>>61739161Getting there and I'm,going with a smaller reactor than what's used in castles.
>>61739507Weren't Fusion reactors very rare? Like, only Luna does them?
>>61739540Ah that's true guess its a sort of super battery then?
>>61739594is kinda like ''once use'' weapon that suck the energy of your energy packs, and put a lot of stress over your engines,is a crytal cannon only use on the most secure (where you know victory is asured) or in desesperate times *when there isnt other option)excalibur mecha is one of the few mechas that can use advance arch weaponry for long time spawn btw

>>61739629That makes for the more fun approach though I can't imagine you'd see something like thst in common use if it could leave you dead in the water
>>61739494Rail cannon: The mainstay of most modern Cavaliers, rail cannon take a rifle and using magnetic turn it into a devastating weapon. Power hungry many rsul cannon are slower firing than their lower tech counter parts but, make up for it with their devastating power. It was these weapons thst were used to slay many dragons during the war.
Dang another slow night?
>>61745591yep another slow night anon
>>61742381Energy weapons: Though solid projectiles are far more common especially on lighter frames. Energy weapons such as Lasers and plasma cannon are found on bigger more powerful classes from time to time. Designed to overwhelm targets typically through the use of intense heat. Energy weaponry was pioneered by Mordred Corp and later adopted wholesale by Gallahad
Prewoek bump. What system would people like to see this done in?
>>61725190It was clear that Morrigan and Tygeres had chosen a different tactic for this battle.Instead of just rushing in, the circling Dragons dispersed at the beginning. They did not at first attack the Mountain, but turned to surrounding complexes and libraries. Some of them were still staffed and now undefended. The defenders were thus forced them massacre civilians as they could not do anything. Until Legate-Owner Jupiter Aurela saw that the enemies had actually dispersed too widely, and seeing his opportunity, charged out with the Ninth.Catching the Dragons individually, their rather up-gunned Gladii and other forces managed surprisingly many kills until the Dragons closed their trap. Burrowing Lindwurms attacked them from below while flying Dragons pounced on them. The Legion put up an hellish battle but their fate was sealed. For as the monsters began annihilating the Gladius Cohorts their true purpose came true. The Ninth fought back with all they could: Wounding as many Dragons as they would, Striking at wings, weapons and eyes. For they knew that they would not win this battle. But whey were a magnific distraction. Thus sir Helian the Black rode from the hidden Hangars of the Mountain with his blue-green Spear, leading a force of fast Cavaliers and scores of Arrows. They flew close to surface, throwing lunar dust in their wake.Their target: The Brood Mothers now open for attack. Tygeres roared in silence as it saw what was happening. The Brood Mothers ordered all their little spawn to intercept but it was too late: The Knights and Arrows reached the fell queens and swiftly slew the immobile nests. The surprise spent, Sir Helian allowed the Arrows to flee the battle - they would be just wasted, and someone needed to survive. He himself scanned the Dragons and found his mark: Tygeres himself.
>>61746271It could be done as some kind of wargame. But I don't know, mechs and rpgs, they never end getting them right.
>>61746366Sir Helian the Black, the estranged bastard of the Lancelot house, set his Spear for maximal thrust and aimed himself at the dark being that was Tygeres.Lesser Dragons moved aside as Tygeres crashed on all of its six legs and responded to his challenge with a cybernetic scream. Helians rail cannon roared. Most of his shots hit but none penetrated the thick skin of the True Dragon. Spear class Cavaliers are not usually meant for close combat. One could also argue that nothing is meant to meet a True Dragon in close combat. Sir Helian did not care.Tygeres breathed plasma but Helian swiftly jumped over the blue burst of death. Firing last shot, he cracked the shoulder of Tygeres. The pair finally crashed. The Beast was about to claw into him Sir Helian got his last attempt: Using all their opposed momentum, he pierced the long barrel of his rail cannon deep into the chest of the dark monster. His barrel bent, he knew that he had time only for one shot and hope that it would hit its heartcore. He uttered a small prayer: "For Humanity" and pulled the trigger. His shot went through the whole Dragon. Tygeres was thrown back and blue plasmic blood leaked from it. Sir Helian landed close by and pulled out his axe, for he wanted to be sure of his kill.He was wise but had underestimated Mordred Corps. For Tygeres had three heartcores. Its first strike clawed Helian into two. Second destroyed the rest of his wings. Helian got one strike with his axe but he missed its pulsing eye. And then Tygeres bit his head off and trampled the remains into unrecognized metal mass. The Knight was no more and Tygeres commenced the charge of dragons with a victorious roar.[cont.]

Are we saving the writefagotry in the doc?
>>61746791So did the Dragons march on the First Line of Defenders. Legate-Ower Paul Syracusa met them head on. The guns of over four hundred Gladii blasted in in silence. Artillery and Tank joined the fray as well, delivering multi-hued explosions to the sight. But their effect was negligible. For Tygeres had sent forth his most armoured Dragons. Boars and Tygers charged, followed by great waves of lesser beings and led by the True Dragons. Thus almost unopposed, the Dragons reached the Third Legion. The front was quickly destroyed and the monsters began to ravage the Final Cavalier Legion. Usually quick killers, this time they were different: the Dragons inflicted unnecessary brutality on the poor Legionaries: removing turrets, removing limbs, laughing at their puny weapons. The Dragons started to pile wrecked Gladii on like a human would pile some car husks. Only useful as a scrap.Syracusa was surrounded Basilisks and cut from his suit: His air supply removed, he still had time to draw his emergency shotgun and take few pot shots at the nearest Dragon before dying in the cold vacuum. It was slow and agonizing death for many and it was a bloody beyond comparison. For it has been later realized that Morrigan wanted to break the spirit of the Humans. Mere physical victory here would not apparently satisfied the damned AI.[cont.]
>>61748813Seeing their comrades being eaten and ravaged in ways too horrible to describe, the rest of the assembled warriors, soldiers and civilians looked up.Up in the sky they saw our Homeworld. Its blue oceans, white clouds and lights of civilization. And Earth was burning: Tygenes had sent a portion of his force to ravage the Homeworld itself. It hoped that seeing their homes and families thus threatened, the defenders would lose the last fragments of their hope for victory.Yey the Dragons had miscalculated the Tenacity of the Humanity. For the assembled soldiers now realized utterly that this was not about glory. Nor victory. Nor survival. This would be the moment Morrigan would fail or all would end. Nothing else mattered.A legionary charged at a Basilisk. Emptying his whole rifle into it, he then just swung the metallic gun in wide arc and hit its head. For a second the beast was taken back before dissecting the legionary. But it was enough. The closest comrades realized that their guns might be useless but they were still riding in suits weighing several tons of metal. As one the Cavaliers charged. It did not matter if the dragon slew dozen of them with their claws and breaths, but they could drag them down to lunar surface and then just kick, crush and punch them to them to the ground. There they tore openings between their scales and finally could fire their guns into them effectively. No Dragons went down without sacrifice, but no Legionary or Men-At-Arms hesitated. A lone centurion even jumped into the maw of a spiked True Dragon that was about to fire its plasma-breath. No-one is sure what happened but soon white-blue plasma explosion decapitated the Dragon. As its head slowly dropped to the ground, Tygeres arrived.[cont.]

>>61749095The Dark Commander issued a solitary command and as one the Dragons clicked back into their usual effective mood. But it mattered not, as the dragons found themselves surrounded by not an organised Legion, but a mass of most furious cavaliers ever witnessed. The Legions were destroyed on that day. Almost no-one survived the First Line. But the carnage the brave Gladiuses inflicted on that day was enough that the Dragons were weakened. They had to regroup to repair themselves. Thus ended the first day of battle. Dragons went back beyond the range of artillery and dragged their wounded with them. They also took some prisoners - their fates were never revealed but no bodies have ever been found. On the Mountain, civilians went through the battlefield looking for survivors and functioning gear and Cavaliers. Although some were found, all understood that the next attack would be the last. The second wave retreated into the crashed Castles. Their entrances were sealed shut. Medics and doctors went through the wounded. There was not many of them. That night was quiet. With the spellsongs still plaguing the airwaves, there were no talking. Chaplain Pietinoff had been sniped by a Drake so even leadership was a mess. No songs were sung that night. Most just.. prepared themselves for the next fight. Cavaliers and Cuirassiers slept in their suits. Green Monks blessed the remaining ammunition and loaded them into guns. The Counter Fist were ready. They had even ordered the Monks to weld their doors shut - they knew that when the moment would come, they would charge out led by the Three Saracen Brothers and try to take out Tygeres. Their last hope was that by killing the leader dragon the rest would disperse. Unknown to any Knights, the Green Monks armed the self-destruction bombs of the Mountain. Only a press of a button and everything would end.[cont.]>>61749206Do not worry.
>>61750656There is really not much to talk about the battles of second day. It was fueled by determination, anger and hate from both sides. It was a messy affair. It was desperate affair. After only 5 hours of rest they returned. The Dragons and their minions climbed the mountains while the defenders did all they could to stall them. Mines, artillery, futile charges. Everything was tried and still Morrigans beast came forth. But the Humans knew that they had nowhere to flee, and that made their situation simple. When the Dragons breached the Castles with Salamanders the battle turned into a frenzy of close-range fighting. Some hidden Cavaliers and cunning Cuirassiers were heroic but ultimately all of them perished. The Tank Monks made a glorious sally but they were surrounded and torn apart. Death by death, the defenders were forced to the very top of the Mountain: To the entrance to the Mountain Proper. It was there when Tygenes the Bloodclaw arrived. The anti-air defenses destroyed, the Dragon Commander flew to the top slowly and majestically, flanked by six other True Dragons. There they landed next to the Gate into Mountain. The Dragon spoke: "Thou have fought valiantly. Let it be written down. But now this calamity is over. Open the gates and let me access Merlin. In return we shall spare you."On the other side of the Gate the Counter First readied their guns. They did no have chance against seven True Dragons but they would slay Tygenes or die trying."Please, do not try anything funny with the last Cavaliers" the Dragon said with a smile.[cont.]
Drakes:Drakes were designed originally as the first mobile weapons by Mordred Corp. As such compared to the more advanced Dragons it is a rudimentary beast. However this does not make it inefficient or ineffective. The core design is built around the use of a focused plasma beam. Unlike the more widespread devastation of Dragon fire this weapon punches through armor in a focused beam. While highly mobile they are relatively fragile and even lighter frames can damage or kill the machine. For close range weaponry these beasts sport vibro claws and a highly mobile vibro spear.

The tenth battle of Arthur and his knights. The planet of Agned held strategic values during the Dragons war. Agned you see was a hun for the great warp network known as the Starways and a vital staging ground for Round Table fleets moving coreward. So it was that the warrior king had come to its defense in person. There, over a planet that, had for centuries been a hub of RoMan authority would a crucial battle of the desperate war play out. Over seventy Castles orbited the world and the great defenses below them were readied. Cavaliers of the newly commissioned Lance and Lonsword Classes as well as Broadaxes, Bastard swords and a gamut of other types of the mighty war machines held the high orbits. Upon the surface, mighty defense Rail Cannon prepared and Tanks readied for a ground war. Green monks of the Fraeter Communisis weaved spellsongs and prayers over wavelengths. Taught by Merlin they had learned powerful wards against Morrigan and her beasts. Men at arms readied for boarding actions and quiver of Arrows were readied to let fly.Such was the sight that greeted the Dragon brothers Talkym and Caldym with their horde of monsters.
>>61752069These wards would prove to be vital for they had flung shut the great gates and prevented the Dragons from using them. Instead they were forced upon a timely voyage of several, weeks. In thst time City ships of KAY moved innocents out of system, safe from what would ensue. When the horde entered the edge of Agdens light they found not an easily taken system but one wickedly barbed and prepared for battle. The pair of True Dragons would grind in system fighting all the way as castle vessels from light minutes away sortied Cavaliers to harass only to retreat when Wyverns and Drakes took flight. Bodkin fighters stung the flanks of lair ships and left bleeding wounds of fire and leaking reactor cores as they dived deeper inwards. Upon Agden Prime Arthur waited patiently...
>>61751024[cont.]Just as the three Saracen Brothers were about to signal their attack, a bright flash erupted at the horizon. The final surviving defenders turned to look, as did the mighty Tygenes itself. For one of the three Dragon lairs had just been vaporized in a vast detonation. Next thing they saw was white light and flying lunar dust as the ground shaked as three Cuirasses landed between the Dragons and the Gate. Arthur and his Companions had arrived. The mysterious gold plating of X-Caliber reflected the rays of the detonation all around them. Next to him stood Sir Gur of House KAY and Sir Nennius of House Bedivere in shining new Longswords. It would have taken three days for Arthur to land to Luna. But when the news of Dragon attack came to them, they tried something far more desperate. The would not decelerate to land. They would just ram their Castle Tintagel directly to one of the Dragon Lairs. So they made a full burn towards Luna: Merlin had helped in calculating the best course of attack. Arthur, his companions and Cuirassiers removed the engines of the Imperium-class old war vessel and strapped themselves to them. They had used these castle-sized engines then to decelerate just themselves to a survivable speeds, where then they just had used their own Wings to land. There they then stood. For once, the songspells of both Morrigan and Merlin ended. Arthur spoke:"Tygenes the Bloodclaw. This Mountain has stood here since the the end of RoME. You shall not breach it now. Remove your foul dragons from our space! We stand on the side of Justice! Your kin shall never be allowed in - and that which you seek will not be yours!"To this Tygenes just laughed.[cont.]>>61752069>>61752480Nnnice. I was too thinking about the Twelve Battles. Sir Hamself appears to happen on the same battle: >>61596842Luna kinda replaces the first, though.
>>61752480However, Morrigan always cunning devised a plan. For, she was a mighty foe indeed. With a cluster of great asteroids the brother Caldym fled. And, with careful work began their vile task. Brood mothers heaved themselves into the void and pulled the flotsam to their maws and burrowed inward. While boars cobbled the stones together. A mighty fortress gestated upon the edge of the system. Meanwhile Morrigan using vile techno sorceries summoned forth wraith knights. Souls trapped by its devious machinations and forced to bend to her will. These cursed souls took form upon the lair ships. A score of deadly phantoms clothed in biomechanoid forms. Without question they took flight from the growing lair fortress and set to their dark tasks. Arthur meanwhile was not idle. With his foe split he would use it his advantage and attack Taldym as he pressed ever forwards. Little did he know that the phantoms followed...
>>61753624The battle with Talkym would be a poisonous taste for the knights of Arthur. The small Dragon Fleet would clash with the full might of thirty Castles. Talkym, born of the void new his way well within the spaces between worlds and took flight. Its lair spewing forth scores or Drakes and Manticore to meet Cavaliers upon the field. Arthur led the charge, his shining armor blazing like a golden comet as arc blades danced and Rail Cannon howled in the void. Talkym having assumed the form of a great and terrible winged serpent gave no,quarter and destroyed single handedly no less than five castles and two score of Cavaliers. Its mighty flames rendering armor little more than, kindling for the fire. But, it would be Lancelot that would take the victory. Its Lord Knight Alstair driving a hyperkinetic spear into the beasts belly. And detonating it, rupturing the reactor heart within and for s brief second creating s second star. From the edge of space Caldym roared in anguish.his brother dead and fortress not yet ready. But, he placed faith in his dark master and let the ghostly warriors of Morrigan have their way.
>All that write fagging.Nice anon, nice. I want it in the Doc so I can read it at my leisure.
>>61753902The first Castle to fall prey to the phantoms was found drifting at the edge of the cordon. Those men at arms thst boarded the ghost ship recounted the nightmarish scene within. Contingents of men slaughtered wholesale and the barricaded doors rended open by some immense force. Bodies impaled upon strange semi metallic growths and bodies twisted within their Cuirass, the armor intact. For weeks lords watched their vessels in fear and silence. And,upon the third such such fretful span did another fall this time closer to Agden Prime. Arthur took note and, bravely rallied his men to him. His own castle taking flight and he donning his personal Cuirass. Beside him knights of the great houses and his personal retinue. He moved to where the last castle had fallen. And, waited. For three days his ship drifted in the void. And,without warming they struck. The phantoms boarded the ship without vessel or Cavalier. Landing upon the hull unnoticed and using the airlocks. Men at arms rallied and Arthur, unsure what for he fought set a plan in motion. The phantoms stalked the hallways baited forwards a section of the castle. Though men fell they took the bait and entered into the emptied section. With haste it was sealed and launched. And, Arthur with no remorse brought to bare the full might of his mighty craft vaporizing it and four of the wretched creatures. From the void, the remaining pair looked on with disspassion and notified the Caldwyn of the success of the plan. Arthur, was away from Agden Prime, and so was EX-Caliber.
>>61754484>>61754484Got a perfect image for these fuckers. Amazing.>>61754484Nice to separate Arthur from his legendary suit!
>>61754484Caldwyn aboard what would later be called the hellstone fortress had been drifting steadily towards the blockade. Upon the destruction of the Four phantoms, Caldwyn fired the engines of the monstrous lair. The original, vessels and their reactors had been turned into singular massive engines which thundered to life pushing the conglomerate mass towards Agden Prime. It howled in system even as castles moved to intercept sections of the Hellstone broke away laden with lesser machine beasts and dragons teeth to collide with them. Calwyn would avenge its brother. The Hellstone collided with Agden prime, the fortress world had managed to deflect the vessel enough to have it miss the planet's heartlands but, the devastation was felt across its breadth and width. Firestorms and earthquakes raged as it landed. Tsunami collided against the coastlines and cities were wiped out in shockwaves. For, Caldwyn had copied the battle of Luna and crashed headlong into the fray. The Hellstone though damaged formed a beachhead and from its molten bulk, the dragons came in droves.
>>61752659"I welcome thee, Prince Arthur of PenDragon, to Luna" the Dragon said. "Brave of you to come here. So much like your father you are."Arthur just raised his arm. In his hand he held a Plasma Rifle mofidied from the neck of a slain Griffin."Yet alas, there is so much that your sire had never told you. Nor any other apart from Lord Mordred. The truth is that we have been all deceived by the Merlin AI. Morrigan found this out."The entire battlefield was silent."Arthur, Merlin has been plotting behind the backs of humans for aeons. I can prove this if you allow us in."Artur did think about this for terribly long time. Then he made his decision with six plasma bolts fired into the torso fo Tygenes. Then he commanded: "Defenders of the Mountain! With me!" and charged with Sir Gur and Sir Nennius. The Gate swung open and the Counter Fist followed the Golden Cavalier.Yet Tygenes survived Arthur's attack and too commanded all of his forces forward. It was time for the Duel at the Gate of Merlin. To this day no-one is sure whether Tygenes was lying or speaking truthfully. Yet most of the Round Table considers it just a lying snake.[will continue at a later time, not much left anyway. ]
>>61755085i like this mistery about merlin and arthur agendahero or tyrant?
>>61755012Till, the day he fell in battle Arthur would lament his foolishness. Separated from, his blade and forced to watch Agden burn he could only hope to reach the besieged world in time.his castle moved and he looked on in fear of what must be occurring below. But, all was not lost. Green monks with their Tanks and land cathedrals gathered the wounded and began to cordon off what they could. Those castles that were present, the bulk of Agdens defenders descended to the world with haste and fury. Leading the Charge knights of House Bors whom had controlled the plsnet for several generations. Their heavily armored variants wielding Arc blades and Shotcannon. Knights of Lancelot with pinpoint Rail Cannon moved to intercept faster moving foes in the field. Of note of these brave defenders are Hamself who defeated three Gryphons single handedly and sacrificed himself to save those who fought beside him. And Bors knight Einrick whom would wage a bloody campaign within the ruined cities of Bracka district. Slaying Salamanders and Tygres with his Broadaxe.
>>61755507>>61755507Arthur however would have to first contend with other matters. The phantoms that had lurked just beyond sensor range boarded his vessel. The pair, wreathed in relentless cold and crackling energies surged towards the command chambers. Men at arms that could, fought back with personal rifles and blades. Barricades were raised and static defenses erected as the phantoms moved towards their goal. But,it was for naught. Without devastating field weapo those in the corridors could not match their foes and though some of Arthur's personal guard were able to stop one of the creatures the other reached the mighty King. However, Arthur was no fool his personal,Cuirass was a thing of power and beauty and, carried a rare and powerful man sized Arc Blade. A weapon that, had even in the hoary days of RoME been a treasure.
>>61755708However, it would take more than martial skills to best these foes. Aboard the vessel the Green Monk Isa had been serving as the castles Tech-mystic overseeing Radiocasting and other arcane but needed functions. Trapped within the command chambers with his liege he aided him in the only way he knew how. For, Green Monks are versed in all manner of Techno arcane matters and, using Spellsongs cast into the ether he weaved a powerful hex upon the phantoms. Even as Arthur fought he had until that moment been only keeping the monster at bay, likewise his retinue could only stall its fellow. But, as the spelling did its work. They became vulnerable, and though still hard fought the phantoms fell. One, to the searing light of an Arc Blade and the other to a point blank massdriver shot from the knight of KAY leonardis Kay. A distant housing of Arthur. With these foes bested, the King and his made for Agden Prime with due haste, their engines glowing white hot with fusion fire.
>>61755961Any thoughts on the Green monks being a sort of techno, wizard?
>>61756677it fit the fantasie sci fy universe we are building,i would say tank mnks are one of the most loyal human factions to merlin and mankind
>>61756808True just trying to not fall into the 40k trap
I suspect the OP of the "What if Arthur didn't wake, but the knights did" thread was in here.If so, I continued it here >>61757290Because I enjoy, and consider myself skilled at, finding reasons for things. But my Arthurian lore is diluted derivative drivel, so I probably cannot contribute much here.Party on bump.
>>61757406sorry anon a completly diferent worldbuilding, yet based on arthurian legends, dragons and western cultureread the doc if you want to know more

>>61761628Very true, and don't seem to have a monopoly on most tech just important pieces.
>>61756677>>61756808Perhaps we should not put too many things on the Green Monks. Their techo/Asimov Foundation/monk/TANK/Mildred is hellishly awesome already, actual wizardry could be limited or they could be just channeling Merlin in times of dire need.>There is few verified cases when high-ranking Green Monks did emulate the spellsongs of Merlin. They are mostly limited to the late Dragon War and always happened in close proximity to eiher great deeds or Arthur.Lets limit actual techno-magicks to Merlin, Morrigan and perhaps (Sidhe-based/influenced?) Maidens and Ladies such as Guinevere?
>>61762799the monks would have low tier tech magic, easy to balance
>>61762799There were some kind of "Magic giving" beings,in the first thread, not the op but they had potential. Specially the ones than transformed animals and stuff. And why would you limit it to girls? They are using knights already.
>>61762851cute mecha i can imagine it walking like a baby >wibble wibble
>>61762868In my love of mini mechs I collected a good deal of them. They cute. Also posting from the first thread.>Gigants - Mysterious robotic entities of massive size. The smallest on record (Gigant Organism type 2) was the size of Deimos. While normally passive, activated units have been both helpful and harmful to human interests.>The Formless - Other dimensional invaders that defy standard forms of definition. First contact occurred during discovery of the hyperspace sea used in modern FTL travel.>Electrionic Lumino Forms (ELF) - Theorized to have some relationship with the Sidhe, these capricious incorporeal entities are known to be mostly helpful. On rare occasions they may bond with biological lifeforms granting unusual capabilities.>Form Altered and Enhanced (FAE) - Biological entities bonded with an ELF. Benefits and alterations vary. Common enhancements include increased intelligence, humanoid forms and extra-normal powers. Known FAE have included members of every biological kingdom within the Eukaryote Domain. Common FAE hosts include dogs, cats, trees, flowers, butterflies, spiders and mushrooms. Human hosts have been theorized and suspected but none have been confirmed.I liked the feel of those aliens, any more ideas for what other "beings" we could add?
>>61762927i would like a several form of corruptioncorruption happen when a third factor remake a being or entintie on a deformed version of himself (usually adding new powers, traits or weaknesess)the more common case of corruption are -morrigan corruption (a lot of humans are transformed on cyborgs for his armys and slave camps)-sidhe corruption ,the reality beanding tech can transform someone soul and mind
>>61762814Sounds logical. They have the mild echoes of the true Spellsongs in their hymns - particularly they know how to defend their themselves and others from Morrigans Hexes.>>61762851>>61762927Animals and so sound cool as well, yet the are more of "mysterious beings" and not somethimg at all integrated to humanity. I just dislike the names, they color our ideas too much. And why sidhe-women? Idea comes from the Lady of the Lake etc. We need other cool organisations going on here apart from Tank Monks.Perhaps these sidhe-women are a postwar creation (of Merlin or something else?)?
>>61762955That could be the FAE, part of the sidhe fuckery. Perhaps they are esential to understand they tech/ruins, but they change you man, they dangerous.
>>61762955What does Merlins corruption do?
>>61762973They could be the Pagans discussed earlier, the ones than explore SIdhe. Perhaps the founder was the Lade of the Lake, *Insert sci fantasy lake of mumbo jumbo materials*, where humanity learned a few sidhe secrets?
>>61762986Make you really like gardens. But, wasn't it said that Morgan La Fey survived the Sidhe fuckery and that humans infected are exceedingly rare.
>>61762986it blow your mind ,memories and will to him merlin isnt a normal IA is a IA that add more knowledge and personalities from the ones he is able to take,a way to get intel and punish traitors, but a dangerous weapon because we arent sure when merlin can become like morrigan, arthur knew this well sadly he disappeared...or someone took him out
>>61763013That's true. Perhaps infected people can "transmite" some of this knowladge/power, a lot less powerful than the originals receivers get.Would explain the Green Monks (Merlin), Morgana(mordred) and the lady of the lake (pagans).

>>61755085Music for the Duel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j05hzwQf8pAAs Arthur crashed into still burning Tygenes, the entire the Mountain burst into a chaotic melee. PenDragon Men-At-Arms, armed with the best anti-dragon launchers money could make, fired at Dragons while still landing. The Pirate Arrows of Helian returned to the fray, dog fighting Wyverns and others.Sir Gur, the ever-brutal foster-father of Arthur, smashed into a scythe-armed True Dragon and with his repeating rail-shotgun tore wings from it back before he crushed the beasts neck with the heel of his Cavalier. The Three Saracen Brothers swarmed at one Dragon. Sir Ebere and Sir Enamak distracted the beast while Sir Evalon slided under the dread belly of the monster and fired a cluster of heavy missiles. Resulting explosion slew both the Dragon and Sir Evalon.Meanwhile Sir Nennius took a slightly more defensive posture. Drawing his Arc-Blade, one of the first of its kind, he watched the flank. Soon a pair of Basilisk tried to sneak at the Gate. They did not have time to register that Nennius of Bedivere had seen them before first was dissected from head to tail and the other was full holes from his rail cannon. But Tygenes did not play fairly. While it wrestled with Arthur, its mate Neofelis attacked the Prince from rear. Vicious claws tore deep scars into his thighs and wings - scars that were still visible at Camlann - and forced the noble Knight to the ground.Seeing this, Merlin did something unexpected: He counter-hacked one of Morrigans Dragons. Taking control of the Cybermonster, he slammed into Tygeres and threw him off Arthur. This gave the young prince time to stand up and summon Sir Nennius to his side. While Merlin pounced on Tygeres and dragged him down the steep side of the Mountain, he two knights together cut off the limbs of Neofelis and filled its skull with plasma fire. And then another detonation flashed in the horizon. It was time for Arthur to smile.[cont.]
>>61755961Though a small one,it was a victory. Artthur however had no time to savor it and burned in system hard. Agden Prime called for aid. Engines howled as tactical comminques spewed forth. The situation was dire and worsening daily. Upon Agden prime the battle had entered a stalemate. The main continent was held solidly by the knights but, much of the rest of the planet had fallen. Around the impact site of the Hellstone, Morrigans brood grew like a cancer. Vast automated factories spewed choking toxic fumes into the air and swarms of dragons teeth moved to take apart cities and strip mine what they could. Artillery thundered constantly. The hail of fire the only thing cauterizing the cancerous wound.
>>61767593Arthur was greeted with fanfare upon entering orbit. Men at arms cheered his name and waved the PenDragon banner even as they fought with renewed vigour. Knights rallied men to them as they well knew. This would be the deciding day. As Ex-Caliber took flight its golden armor gleaming high in the sky. Caldwyn roared a challenge.
>>61768191Even as the armies clashed Arthur and his knights took to the skies. The fields below were a cacaphony of rail fire and plasmic flames. But above the King dueled with the monster, Caldwyn. The beast had, in his fury changed itself. Once a creature of the land, it had grown mighty thrust wings and powerful directed plasma beams. Arthur meanwhile wielded s mighty laser cannon which could pierce the hardest armor. However, he could not harm what he could not hit.
>>61769309It would fall upon the sacrifice of a the Mercenary lord, Tyren to fell the beast. With his fast moving spear he was able to get above and drive an Arc Spear between the thruster wings, rending one free of Caldwyn and allowing Arthur a chance to punch a fatal blow in its reactor heart. Tyren, not daring to let the chance for the kill be missed hung on and was consumed in the blaze, his standard has been interred within the Halls of Camelot for all to see. Agden would prove a dramatic victory for humanity. With the Starways secured the great fleets could once more crusade aggressively. Retaking nearby worlds.
>>61770255Agden Prime: Once, a verdant and thriving planet. Agden prime suffered greatly in the Dragons war. Though many of the scars of the Hellstone have faded, its marks can still be seen and,it persists. A testament to the war. The toxins that corrupted the land around have though diluted have spread across the planet. Killing or mutating most life. Where once there were clear waters now seething swamps and stagnant seas. Strange plants with iridescent leaves grow in place of normal flora and wretched misshapen beasts prowl the wasted expanses of the plsnet. The Green Monks study, trying to understand what vile curse has befallen the world. Within the Prime City of Edin things are different though. Vast domes house forests rich with birdsong and wild game. Hanging gardens dominate the skyline and the employees of Bor enjoy a quiet peaceful life.
>>61770566Many newly knighted squires take their first quests here. For though Morrigan was destroyed dragons persist. Many minor beasts lurk in the ruined battlefields and from time to time something more dangerous rises from the rubble.
>More writing in the setting. Yesss.
>>61770969yep,but we need to add it to the doc,im busy rigth now goys, could you help me?
>>61770969Yep, me digs the quality and consistency of writings. It seems that we have the core of this TG setting nicely solified.I kinda would like to see how the setting has evolved since the War. It is great lore and all that but the current timeline needs more details. Not many named chars even, compared to the Dragonwar. >Of course it would work that se now hammer down the Dragon war and then progress chronologically forward. Could make sence.
>>61771497Very true, though it helps set context of the setting as well. Though I do agree I'm using the war to help bring context to existing planets myself. Agden is a good example
>>61771497I think the bigger question is, what threats are encroaching now on mankind.
>>61774968-new hybrids result of morrigan and humans remmants mixed with several sidhe fuckery -politicial unstability-the danger of merlin becoming like morrigan but instaed of genocide tirany-economycal recovery-several secesionist movements

I do have the day off thankfully. Mayne ill fire up my computer and get some shit done
One thing to remember is that Morrigan isn't dead but rather shattered. So,what sort of personas might these shards of what amounts to a dark god adopt?
>>61782846Some tried to return to the terraforming/caring for humanity part, others would be kill all humans etc.
>>61783601That's true but I meant more what would they be named, where they live etc. Would some take on mythical figures as guises to astound naive locals and bend them to their will or be given names for their horrific actions. That sort of thing.
Belobog and ChernabogAmong the hinter stars there is a strange binary system. Its name is Volga and within its realm, dwell a pair of stars. One,in its primacy is brilliant and full of life. The other a guttering dwarf which casts no light to speak of. The tribes of men that dwell here though starfaring are loathe to leave their system. Saying it shall anger their gods. At meals a bowl of simple protein and starch meals is offered to a two-faced idol. And, when slaying a great mechanized beast. A portion of the kill is left to appease it.
>>61783954There is some truth to these superstitions, ships 3entering or leaving the system without the proper spelling frequencies often come under attack by bla k vessels that resemble the feared Lair ships of Dragons. However, just as often as this occurs they are driven away by unknown white Warcraft thst also bear a semblance to those strange designs. The natives claim they are sent by the two gods of the system to punish or benefit travelers.

>>61783601>>61783736i would say that the good shards of morrigan would be essential on fighting any possible merlin tyranny
>>61789382Thst might be true but I almost prefer Merlin not being remotely evil it might do stuff That's callous but it has no motivation to take over. Just ensure humanity survives. But that's just me.
>>61790557merlin isnt necesarily evil in his intentions, but he make humanity dependant on himand he have this need to control everything
>>61790582That might be an interpretation thst could work. It does serve as the switchboard for warp gates as it is.
So, how has PenDragon actually fared? Are they falling apart now without Arthur?
