Avoid pitch battles unless in close quarters breaching or with numerical superiority. Make use of the lack of solid land on the homeworld.>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?Have a distinct sort of sailor faith they inherited from the Primarch's homeworld. Superstitions and slightly animist, they try to keep it low key because they want to follow the Imperial truth, but secretly struggle to come to grips with it. Believe in a Benthic goddess with many names, (sometimes called Tiamat, the Leviathan, Abyss, or Abzu) as the personification of the roiling, primordial sea, the dark, capricious void, and both destruction and creation. Represented as both a fish, a dragon, a serpent, and more alien creatures. They have many small quiet rituals they must perform and superstitions actions they undertake to appease her.>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?Boarding craft and air transport. They're mostly focused on getting their libraries and histories out before they become Prospero 2: The Wolfening.>what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?Major defect in the Catalepsean Node preventing them from effectively learning with Hypnotherapy. As a result, they have to learn everything by hand. Initiates spend decades learning to reach the standards of the chapter. They're also kind of pacifistic, coming from a "but you can't learn as much if they're dead" viewpoint. Traditionally also, each initiate must record and write an account of every deployment they take part in, eventually combining their history into tomes for the chapter. >what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?Powermauls and other long-handled crushing weapons, as well as lots of servo skulls. Prefer longer range rifles against bolters.>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?Due to small size and long training times, they field almost entirely as strike groups, but they do not worship chaos as a legion.>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join? The ability to seek knowledge uncensored by the decrees of the Emperor. They agreed mostly as allies of convenience.Tl;dr Nerd Druid Library marines. Also the name is very much up for change, it was the first thing that came to mind.
>>53134947>>53135612Nice, I really like the idea of Celtic styled space marine armor. The knots and dragons would make great details. The not being able to do hypnotherapy is also a really cool idea.I'm not sure why they side with the Traitors though. They seem more like the type to side with the Emperor, if only because they know how bad Chaos would really be.
>>53135761I figured they would kind of pull a Night Lords, where they weren't followers of chaos more as just dissatisfied with the Emperor's way of doing things. Also I figure if they got along with the Thousand Sons, Prospero's burning would have been a real wake up call. They probably wouldn't have turned traitor without it.
>>53135946Fair enough, but the Night Lords were also pretty loony towards the end when Chaos really started becoming a big part of the Traitors so they stayed with them. These guys seem a lot more reasonable, so I almost see them defecting back once they start summoning daemons all over Terra. Unless they actually end up being okay with that stuff, in a callous Iron Warriors sort of way.
>>53135946Actually, now that I think about it, having them stay loyal could make for a really fun "look what you've become" kind of attitude towards the Thousand Sons. They WANTED to rebel, but didn't, and now look and as if they could have somehow stopped it all.
>>53134947>>53136066You know what, considering I made up this bunch pretty much on the spot, let's workshop these guys. Give them a better name, figure out more about their planet and rules, the whole shebang.Alternatively, we should do that with someone else's chapter.
>>53136558Well, the name can come later. What do you imagine their planet is like? I'm somehow seeing a kind of swampy, boggy place. Maybe largely medieval with bastions of long forgotten DAoT technology where monks and scribes live?
>>53137001I figured it was swampy, but with large stretches of foggy hillside. Whatever it is, its got lots of humidity and lots of rain. Also probably big Giants Causeway style coastlines, maybe interlocking a mostly Island-based landmassI like the idea of DAoT tech, especially in that we could have the monks and scribes having turned them into fortresses to protect them from other clans. Prior to the Primarch getting his hands in everything, this place was pretty fractious. I figure one of his major accomplishments was cataloguing all of the languages and myths of the place and using that information to secure a planetwide alliances and unification. Also I think it should be called Eire.
>>53137163Maybe it's somehow a very recent planet? So it's all very volcanic, like the giants causeway and such, but the oceans and seas aren't very deep and most are filled with thick mats of weeds or peat. Not many tall trees, just foggy moorlands, bleak black stone uplands, and low shadowy forests. Maybe the monks and scribes that Oghma ends up becoming part of are constantly under siege by the savage inhabitants of the boggy lowlands, who are more like ogryn than regular people, and he rallies them to finally end the threat? Would be interesting to see a Primarch who actively sides with the intellectuals instead of the barbarian warriors. Might also reinforce their dislike of the Wolves, because they remind them too much of the barbarians.
>>53137329I like this a lot. I figured fitting with the mythological inspiration that Oghma eventually united the world via eloquence and speech, but having the lowland moor tribes be Fomorian-styled Ogryn sounds awesome.I think that Oghma could have been found originally by the bog tribes and raised as a warrior, and then eventually found himself injured or something and in the care of the monks, who disabused him of the notion that they were evil wizards in their giant stone houses. In that case, his whole unification of the world was him trying to bridge the gap between the two tribes, and I want to say in the end he had to side with the monks. It's part of why he wants to turn traitor during the heresy, but doesn't. He's already been a traitor to his people once, and he won't put them through that again.
>>53137668Maybe he is able to make some form of peace, but during the celebration of it the tribes do something that is itself totally unforgivable. Like, say, making a wicker man out of a bunch of prisoners they said they were going to release. He cuts himself off before he makes the same mistake of trust during the Heresy.
>>53137760Awesome. Such a massive fuck up during the celebration also really reinforces how he handles having space marines. They're almost all defensive and super reserved under his command, enough to be probably called cowards by the more aggressive legions, because their primarch is afraid of fucking up that badly again. Also, as an idea. His big fancy legendary primarch weapon of choice is a gigantic powermaul covered in Ogham etching called the Long Mor, after the Dagda's famed "kill seven men in a single stroke" club.

Assuming me as I am now, largely because I'm pretty sure I'd be a different person if I was three feet taller with muscles like greasy balloons humping each other under my skin. Also assuming my marines are pretty normal, I think space dad would have flushed them before they matured if they didn't turn out right. The Crippled/The Enlightened >describe your talents as a primarchPatience before taking rash action. Well, easily anyway. Can throw on some dull robes and chat to citizens without people noticing I'm about three times their size. Ideally a reasonable psyker, but the least compared to my brothers. Finds use in it to augment my own strength and reactions akin to Shadowrun Adepts. Maybe a pinch of precognition if it doesn't seem too Jedi. Though if I'm just a lil' guy with no magic that's cool too. I still get super space armor.>what is the name of your legion?Scions of Balance>what are its main tactics/characteristics?Void Warfare, Sabotage and occasional Assassination. Shipyards, refineries and supply lines are favored targets before focussing on eliminating the opposing force. Stubbornness to attempt or consider every possible action before ceding territory, resources or advantage to the opposition. Occasionally slow to act because of this.Blends Shaolin and Zen philosophies, with a smattering of other sources and also borrows from their aesthetic and maybe a little imperial Chinese. Warrior-monks doing low-grav kung-fu with giant suits of power armor on, jump packing around to punch and stab you even harder while inside a voidship though. That's not a bad thing. Now I write this down, I think I might have made Tenno-Marines. Not intentional, but it sort of works for a comparison.
>>53148769I don't get you wrong. Just want to help, y'know. And for the name...it comes from a customary weapon of Kadir, adopted in the Legion. They took their name from it.

Really pissed at Horus later on. Less respect was afforted to Leman Russ and Angron and the like as they were seen as too easily swayed by emotion for their station. Vulkan's cool but the immortal thing is sort of freaky. Generally fine with most Legions if not their Primarchs however, Death Guard the least so; they were best when they were Dusk Raiders. Good relations with Mechanicus though.>Describe some of your legion's most memorable victories/defeatsRoutine cleansing of ork infestation botched when an Eldar force arrived and claimed that this route was prophesied to lead to destruction and hesitated too long, leading to the Orks secretly constructing ships and spreading to nearby systems. Lost a lot of face for that, and swore to purge this WAAGH! entirely. Upside was he then slaughtered the lot of them including the Eldar. There's some really nice recordings of the battles though, and a few paintings showing a slim figure dancing between giants with spear and shield, striking a farseer in the neck. 8/10, would visit reliquary again. The hunt resulted in being late for the defense of Terra however, so maybe the pointy ears were on to something?

I'm one of the least likely of us to fall, have you SEEN some of our brothers? >what's the major defect in your chapter's geneseed or traditions?Slow to act, or at least to start. Heavy resistance to hypnotherapy, requires additional training to get it rammed in. Luckily teachings stay up there once forced in, and it's more difficult for whispers from the Warp to get a word in. Can result in apathy to a situation, even if it directly influences them.Have an odd philosophy regarding luck or dharma. Seeing it as something akin to the soul or blood. Something produced by the self and spent to maintain life and the self. Through meditation and practice one can self-regulate the flow of luck, holding back little bits of luck for a larger surge when needed. It's probably just placebo effects than any measurable effect, but belief does shape the Warp...>what is your signature weapon, vehicle, or other wargear, and why?Power Spears are seen as the signature weapon, being prized in the chapter and a noble symbol. Other melee weapons are emphasised, notably fist weapons and somewhat oddly an astartes pattern of the Hunting Lance. A spear with a disposable explosive speartip, the signature weapon of IG Rough Riders but occasionally used by the Scions. Notably, the shaft is not often discarded and used as a staff in combat. Some Hunting Lance shafts have been refurbished and used by the same marine multiple times. In range, expect to see grenades. Lots of grenades. If it's available in the armory and it has the word "krak" or "plasma" in it, a Scion is going to throw it at someone he doesn't like. Up to and including heavy grenade launchers themselves.
>>53148918>after the Heresy, what is your former Legion's major deviation from the Codex - or what unique gift does your dark god give your Legion, now?Legion carved into thirds after the Heresy. A third follow the Codex more or less accurately, nothing a non-Ultramarine would find shocking. Another third told "Okay, fuck the codex. You know what I'm about by now and I trust you to do what you think is right", they become fleet-based and do what astartes do best. I gave them a Writ that basically equates to "They can do what they want, signed A Fucking Primarch and Son of the Emperor". I take the last third and fuck off to see about leaving the galaxy to make an Imperium Tertius. With blackjack. And hookers. And hopefully no space locusts. While working on the "get the fuck out of the galaxy" ship I ponder the Warp as a whole, trying to think of some way to make it not shit. Turns out that's pretty hard. Those few that do decide "Hey the spikey guy with daemons all around him whispering dark truths and eternal torment seems legit", well they get auras of poor fortune. Bad shit always seems to fall their way, but even worse to those they march against. You'd almost think they were Malal worshippers with the fact that after a battle fucking EVERYONE wishes they were dead including themselves. Pity they're basically immortal now, cursed to eternal bad luck. Even Magnus is lucky compared to them.>what blandishments did Horus offer you to try to convince you to join?Security and immortality for me and those under me. Linares was an intelligent, albeit generally impulsive guy. The only instances when he keeps calm and doesn't throw himself and his troops (but they will follow him to Hell if necessary) is when he is planning something. He is known for swearing and using foul language, trait shared with the Angry Marines, but w/o being that angry. Calling his Troops "Battle-Sisters", assholes, sissies and such is normal. But they do it, too. He likes to fight at close combat, because in Kadir, melee is considered the true martial art, and every warrior (read: everyone) does his best to reach perfection. Linares is no exception. His love for beer is a trait inherited from his home world, and is glad to share one, or one thousand, with you if you let him pay them. His trolling and humorous character has driven mad a hell of a lot of people. He has actively trolled the Dark Angels, and in one instance, the sheer amount of irony and sarcasm present in his speech while planning some operation along his brother Primarchs, including Rogal Dorn and Rowboat, has made 1) Rogal go full WTF and left the room without understanding shit 2) Girlyman try to kill him right there.
How do y'all feel about c'tan worshiping astartes?

>>53149460What did he mean by this?
>>53149413(Cont.)Everyone that has met him, thinks that he is a dependable man. He may try to troll you, but if you request his help, he will travel from one side to the other of the galaxy to help you. Even the Traitor Primarchs would depend on him. When he is not trolling you, he is friendly as fuck, and a good company. His relationship with Rogal is a good one. He may be trolled nearly everytime they speak, but they find themselves comfortable with each other. The stubbornness of both Primarchs and their Legions has helped a lot in several battles fought by the duo. The IF know that the SS won't fall back, and they like that. Vulkan, being the bro that he is, gets along with Linares pretty well. They are intimate friends, and will go to hell and back to help each other. Vulkan has helped him in some trolls, but nobody knows. Leman Russ sees Linares as a good fighter, and respects him for his love for melee. Magnus and Linares have been friends since they met. Linares saw him as a bullied dude, misunderstood by his peers, and, athought his troll side would have enjoyed the situation, he went with Magnus in this one, and started a fairly good relationship. Both Primarchs and Legions get along well, to the point that, in a certain battle during the Heresy, a Thousand Sons detachment was sent to fight the Silver Swords. And no bolt round was fired that time. That seems heresy, but Magnus was attacked by Russ and forced to secede, and Linares finds it reasonable. They have fought a lot, too. After all, the TS are traitors.
>>53149620Let me rephrase.
quick question- does anyone know a canon chapter based on American Indians? The closest i can think of is Rainbow Warriors and they aren't even real anymore
>>53149638Why not?>>53149734Apparently some Dark Angels stuff is based on Native American things.
>>53149734>>531497342nd Edition Dark Angels.
One of the mayor deviations of the Silver Swords form the Codex is that they have the so-called "Company Veterans". In a simmilar fashion to the ones of the Dark Angels, when a Battle-Brother is to be promoted to the 1st Company, he may choose to stay in his Company, and serve as a Veteran there. Not just as a Sargeant, but as a trooper. They fulfill the roles of the Sternguard/Vanguard Vets, depending on the Company they are. These Vets are not allowed to use some specialised wargear that their 1st Company peers are allowed to use, but they are equally lethal.
>>53149758Not him.Because the first and foremost thing should be that you create a legion/chapter that is capable to live without such cheap tricks to make them compelling. What you "could" do is have them worship a C'tan without knowing so, like the assumption that the Adeptus Mechanicus actually worships the long-lost C'tan called "the Dragon" which allows them such an immense capability to process and develop technology. In your case, it could be that the Legion's homeworld is a tomb for a sleeping c'tan and through various shrines erected to the emperor, they channel energies that both keep the thing in stasis but ultimately also feed it, so the twist is the more they worship the prolong its inevitable escape and once it's free it is even stronger.I dunno man I don't deal with necrons.

Determined to the point of stubborn once a goal has been set. Excels in lengthy campaigns. May as well add a couple minor fun things about the Scions of Balance. Their love of explosives and explosions feeds into fireworks. Grand displays of pyrotechnics are created during celebrations. The love of fireworks and pyrotechnics however feeds into explosives. Chapter-designed explosives typically explode into bright colours and light in addition to the purely destructive forces involved. 'Firework grenades' are a signature of the Legion and their distinctive "crack!" heralds their presence on the battlefield. Obvious exceptions occur for certain ordinance such as gas grenades. Some marines have worked out that "seeding" an area in flammable gas can cause the enemy to accidentally ignite themselves however. The 8th company has managed to acquire a small stockpile of the same substance as in psyk-out explosives and will on rare occasions permit some of it's use in modifying their -or the 1st company's- explosives with trace amounts for a mission deemed of dire importance.Of lesser note is the prominent golden hue the 'firework grenades' take when treated such, it is however a firm favourite in explosives for those in the Chapter who bare witness to them. >>53153537Wait, docs what? I've never done one of these heresy things.

>>53159381So.... the loyalists go full chaos and the traitors remain loyal to humanity?
>>53159381Eh there was already a 'Emperor goes Chaos,' Alt Heresy. I kinfa want to see the Imperial Army go heretic because they hate the idea of transhuman monsters like AdMech and the SM being the posterboys for the Imperium. Alternatively we could have Kelbor Hal start the Heresy in this timeline; a Martian Mutiny would start a brand new Dark Age and force the Imperium to restart from the ground up.
>>53159432I doubt that would really work though. For the heresy to have some sort of significance, about half the legions would have to turn. Pretty much the only person that could possibly make a primarch sway their loyalty to the Emperor, is another primarch. I doubt Kelbor would be able to do so.

>>53160316Looking good. Red might still be a bit too prevalent, it always draws attention. Have you tried a deep purple or something similar, to draw out that mystic feel...>>53160350I like it. Dark green, dark gray trim and bits of red. Nice. Where'd you get that?
>>53159381This looks good. Maybe combined with this >>53160198>>53160214Maybe 8—8—2. The Separatists would be less Legions, but with higher number of soldiers per Legion. They shall have a huge amount of Imperial Soldiers, too.
>>53160435I drew it a few weeks ago for another made-up primarch project, where that scheme is for the pre-primarch IXth Legion.
Rolled 17 (1d20)>>53160473I don't think we want to overdo it. If we go for the triumvate AND the Chaos Emperor, it might get confusing. My vote goes to the triumvate. That does remind me... we should claim legion numbers.Rolling for the Titan Marchers.
>>53160214>8 Loyalists>8 Renegades>4 ChaosBeing in a minority would be another reason for them to fall to chaos because it empowers them additionally. We could even have the renegades be a majority so the Imperium has to make an alliance of inconvenience with chaos, leading to chaos assassinating the Emperor.
Rolled 2 (1d19)>>53160435Dunno, red is a fairly common color with Inca thematics and purple feels a tad too royal. And the Golden Mountains, despite being psyker-heavy, are melee warriors first and foremost.>>53160499Alright, rolling as well, 1d19, results of 17 and higher get a +1
>>53160600Couple of issues I see with it:1. The Emperor would never work with the forces of Chaos. He knows they would betray him.2. The forces of Chaos don't grant that much power. Horus still needed half of the legions to wage his war. No way a half decent commander would go to war with only four legions.3. If we're going with three Warmasters, the Chaos Warmaster would look much weaker than the rest, only being able to get three other legions to his side.I'm liking >>53160499, 7-7-6, with the Loyalists having more back-up.
Rolled 14 (1d20)>>53160499Now I have to decide if Separatists or Loyalists is more appropriate. Scions of Balance rolling. Might need re-naming, avoid confusion with the IG Scions. Any suggestions? Triumvate gets my vote, but unsure of distribution just yet.

>>53162438Still here and lazily monitoring the thread out of curiosityReally I'm kind of at a loss about what you're trying to do hereAren't there already way too much 40k AUs ? I though the idea of this thread was just to throw around cool ideas for the missing legionsThe problem with your new legions all cohabitating, imo, is that we all built them assuming they each were a lost legion, found during the great crusade by the original legions. Each primarch is even built according to their relations with the 18 originalsIsn't the whole project contradicting its own premise ?As far as I am concerned you can do whatever with the Sheperds, there's no copyright on themI'm planning to re-use them in stuff of my own (if I ever manage to find players), but contributing to yet another Alternate Heresy seems pointless, as the interesting thing was introducing new elements to a preexisting universe and you're going the way of the Hektor Heresy
>>53161244Silver Blades sounds cool
>>53162802Starting off with fitting primarchs into the OU is a good way to show how the legion and it's primarch would interact with characters most contributors would be familiar with. >>53162064I'm gonna write up a more detailed background for the First Legion tonight, but probably won't be able to do much else for the next couple days besides talk in the threads.
>>53163748Dope! Will so something similar someday. Im busy
>>53164226Thank you very much. I'm proud of having gotten to this point so quickly. Usually I stall at some point and then I lose interest, I'm one of those instant gratification dudes. So, I'm glad I got something done in the first place
>>53164480I will certainly be using your as a template when I fill in Raj's backstory.
>>53164480We'll get this done
>>53164533Well that's certainly an ego boost. Glad you like it.
>>53163748Finally got to reading it. Good stuff, really enjoyed it!
>>53163748Interesting to see a primarch murdered and dead before the Heresy, actually. We'll have to see how we'd fit something like that into an actual continuity, but still, well done! My only real question is the name. They're the Loxodontii, are the Planewalkers just a title, or...?
>>53162064I'd like to throw the Oghma crew on there somewhere, but I still need to work on them a good bit. They really need a better name.
>>53167815I'd suggest Fomorians, but that's already got some references in your backstory. What symbols do you associate with them? Candles obviously, but any distinct material or animal?
>>53167839>>53167815Maybe something like Light Keepers? Given that their forebears stewarded knowledge on their homeworld.
The DoomguysRip and TearPsykers are DemonsThe ImperiumDemonsDemonsDemonsDemons
>>53167199Planeswalker is just a title
>>53167839I associate them primarily with fog, candles, maybe large stones and carvings, menhir style. Going for a very Secret of Kells style marine.I'm against the Fomorians only because that was the former tribe of people who the primarch ended up siding against, despite not wanting to. Naming the legion after them seems kind of weird.>>53167863I like the Light Keepers a bit, since to be honest I was kind of going with a House Hightower vibe for them, but I'm not sure it's quite right for them. Maybe something with stone, for the Ogham reference?

>>53169287Hell yeah. We're here to fluff up fun legions and enjoy ourselves.
If there are different primarchs, are there different main characters for other factions, such as Eldar farseers or Necron phaerons?
>>53169410Yes. AUs are just Your Dudes: The Setting essentially.
>>53169410Make your own. That's the magic of 40k.
Does this look too ridiculous for the Pillars? You don't see too many quartered colour schemes and I suspect I now know why. They look a little bit shit.
>>53169708Also a wee bit creamsicle-esque. That said, not bad.
>>53169708I don't necessarily agree with the red arm and knee pad, but otherwise I dig it.
>>53169708It doesn't really scream 'Pillars of Balance' to me. A half and half scheme is pretty much a must.
>>53169708If you retain the quartering, I'd ditch either the red or the silver. Right now it's just too busy.
>>53129838>taking it easy>the comfy boys>like to get comfy>don't get bent out of shape about it>rather not intervene>they're all a bit too uptight>the comfy boys have a pretty poor track record and haven't conquered any planets, choosing rather to relax on their big spaceships>tell him to chill out>pretty low energy tbqf>we're lovers, not fighters>the codex is quite a stressful read, we don't bother with it>the bald one? What happened to him anyway
>>53169893Yeah, I figured I'd have a nod to the Dusk Raiders and their crimson hands considering they're/we're the XIV legion. >>53170003Looks like I'm ditching the quartering. Probably the colour scheme as a whole, was hoping it would sort of remind me of saffron robes but.. nah. I'll poke at it a little more, keep an ear out for suggestions.
>>53170403Maybe actually keeping the saffron in the form of robes, Dark Angels style? If not, maybe just have little saffron sashes and accoutrements on the armor, like purity seals.
>>53170738I considered robes, but if you can only look good with them you're doing something wrong. Trying to make a color scheme that looks good with bright orange robes though and failing. Might need to ditch that idea.

>>53167199One aspect of the legion is definitely how the Primarch gets more and more disconnected from his legionnaires and depowered in command, so there's room for more individuals of importance. I was going to suggest that one of the Loxodontii captains (most likely of the fourth, the "Mantikhors") would be the archtraitor, which would make sense in the change of power as the Loxodontii have a strong susceptibility to chaos through their native religion, already, and it takes the removal of the primarch to allow the archtraitor full control over the legion. Although Ashur is a bit of a pushover as a person, he knows when shit is going to be too hostile, and since he doesn't have much respect of his troops, anyway, controlling him would only include him as a liability. It would be much easier to remove him from command, altogether, then assuming direct control and do whatever with him.
>struggling with colour scheme>look at other chapters>holy shit there are some eye-watering combinations out there. Well, I'm already doing better than a lot of the canon colour schemes.Look any better? Should I lose the red?
Dumping some updated colourschemesGod damn it this creator still has no in-depth options for vehicles.
>>53172879The theme is that, due to them paying more attention to their vehicles, the Loxodontii have by and large remained behind in technology to other legions when it comes to the actual marine. Their armour was often self-maintained, anyway, cobbled together from left-overs, leading to armour very similar to MkVI which would only come into production after the outbreak of the brotherwar.
>>53172930It was a regular theme among the Loxodontii to wear vainglorious adornments, fetishes and totems fashioned from bone, copper or bronze into combat, which would often draw attention away from their rather barren colourscheme upon their armour. Companies like the fourth, the first and sixth would actually adorn their armour in coppery tones in addition to their jewelry as to appear even more splendid.
>>53172978Although most companies would leave their shoulderguards only briefly adorned with a gentle copper trim, companies like the third and sixth would actually paint their whole right shoulderguard in copper or bronze to imitate their primarchs elephantskull.
>>53173014While the first company veterans naturally were granted the best armour available, it was also the sixth who commissioned the most recent and high-quality armour fashioned from Mars. The first company however was most spiritually in tune with their primarchs love for their namesake animal, the elephant, and thus added ivory colours and inlays of bone into their armour wherever possible on top of their own rather vainglorious display of copper and bronze.
>>53173077The colouring of armour naturally applied to the legion's Terminators, who would go as far to even wear golden jewelry into combat to prove their own personal splendour.
>>53173097After their dispersion as legion and collapse into their companies, the rank-and-file Loxodontii maintained their grey colouring in memory of their totem animal, which they still believe to this day to be calling them from the "Otherworld", which is the warp.
>>53172879Curiously fleshy pink that, intentional to go with the bone/ivory weaponry? I like the effect it gives. >>53172505Should mention the mkIV armor is due to me trying out what a Crusade marine would look like. No real reason, assuming they're Loyalists and not Separatists, they wouldn't get the upgrades afterwards. Might go beakies for fun if we go separatist.
>>53173115Meanwhile the Mantikhor began to adorn their armour with even more golden jewelry and bone inlays from their kills as they prowl the galaxy in search for humanoids to devour, their hands and facemasks soiled from the blood of their victims.
>>53173129It's supposed to be copper/bronze. I prefer copper as a colour but the legion's theme is supposed to in part be inspired by the bronze age. I would basically say it's a bronze with a strong copper percentage. And thank you for the compliment, I am glad the colourscheme works out.

Now that our first actual 20 legion line up is getting there, we need to make sure our legions are sufficiently distinct from one another, the original legions and the ones already proposed in the two other big /tg/ AU's.I suggest we all try to answer the following questions in such a way that your legion and primarch don't resemble the others too much. Silver Blades Battle-Brother, Crusade/Heresy era. Note: The armor should be full of engravings and various inscriptions. Profusely decorated, in general. Nearly all of the troopers weared the same armor. Chapter/Company numbers would be written in the scrolls placed at the shoulder pads. The pauldron's trim would be engraved with various litanies and quotes, typical from the Legion and their homeworld. The Sword carried is their famous Silver Blade, given to every full Battle-Brother in a customary ritual. Also, working on the file with all the info about my Legion. And trying to figure out how to create Termies in the Chapter Gen.

>>53178257Alright, looking forward to what you come up with.I hear you om the Wardian writing. For similar reasons I planned to have Raj die during the Siege of Terra. Ashur is already deeply flawed, his death wouldn't be necessary to ensure he's not wanky.

>>53178772Titles always add to a primarch's character. Master of Blades is cool.Couple more off the top of my head: The Lord of Silver, the Argent Master, the Moonchild...
>>53178772Honestly the title is as much up to you as the Primarch's name itself. If you have a fairly clear picture of what your primarchs most remarkable attributes are then you can be as flowery or blunt with your titles as you want to be.Take Ashur for example. He's got several titles and bynames describing his skills, his quirks and his honours.Master of Blades is a fairly broad term. Swords have blades, but so do axes, saws and razors. If he knows how to kill efficiently with each of those, more power to him. (Killing somebody with a butterknife is fucking dope, man). Personally I would go for a more precise title, though, something that describes his most prominent fighting style, and also his other traits such as being a shittalker and a beerlover. If I may help out, something like:>The Foulmouthed Fencer>The Gladiator>The Lord of the Blonde (Or ale? dunno man up to you)
>>53178817>>53178869>The Lord Of The AleThis is the one. Thank you both!>Little pic bonus
>>53178246I suppose it's less Vietnam and more Air Cavalry in terms of feel. They're kinda a Celtic take on the Raven Guard meets the Blood Angels, but with more air support, snipers, and crushing charges. They're the knights of the skies, leaping spearfirst from the open doors of their Storm Eagles while their brothers pick off high value target from circling Stormravens. They corral their enemies with aerial bombardments only to send Jet Chariots straight through their clustered ranks.
>>53179605So they're an Air/Plane legion? That's a really cool niche, but I don't see how that mashes with either the celtic aesthetic or the name, Spears of Dawn.
>>53179976Dawn, that reminds me of the sun. The sun is in the sky. They come from the sky. As of the celtic thematic, dunno, why not?
>>53180021Alright, dawn can work, sure. Couple of points though:1. Spears are not common/iconic celtic weapons.2. The dawn is not specifically related to celtic culture in any way I know.3.1. Celtic culture does not scream 'air legion' to me. 3.2. Wanting to do a legion that focuses on air support and air combat allows you to base your legion on something truly unique. Celtic marines have been done before, both in canon an /tg/ canon.Point is: to me, the combination of Dawn + Celtic + Air focus seems kind of cobbled together. All pefectly fine on their own, but I don't find the combination all that compelling. I'm not the end all be all on this. This is a group project, so I'd love to hear your opinions.

>>53180080>1. Spears are not common/iconic celtic weapons.I thoroughly disagree. In fact, I would argue there are more spears in Celtic mythology than in any other.
>>53180560I tend to associate them more with swords. Longswords, shortswords, claymores, the whole shebang.
>>53180594Then you haven't read the myths. The most famous heroes all use spears. Cuchulainn and Lugh nigga.
Reworked the last four sections of the Loxodontii lore. Have a look.https://docs.google.com/document/d/1V__NgsBQIQY9MQZmpkk9t7CGSJWDQifQkHVuurZMJbg/edit#heading=h.iowa5vj8h936
>>53180080Well, they're mostly based on the story of Cu Chulainn so they're less Celtic as a whole and more Celtic as it relates to Ireland. The Dawn bit is reference to the father of Cu Chulainn, Lugh (a god of the sun, sky, and a whole buncha other shit). This is also where the Spear bit comes in since spears are associated with Cu Chulainn and Lugh through Gae Bolg and the living, flaming spear of Lugh respectively. They're Air Mechanized Infantry, not knights in fighter jets. In modern terms, they'd be soldiers in helicopters deploying into hot LZs (hence my previous Vietnam association). The fact that they've got association with a spear that strikes down men from afar reminded me of snipers, some snipers snipe from helicopters (not a thing that's happened in 40k as far as I know) and that sounded even more like the bolt from the blue that Lugh's spear would have been.As for chariots and monsters, Cu Chulainn is famed for fighting from the back of a magic chariot and transforming into a monster in combat. The transformation reminded me of the Blood Angels and the Space Wolves, so I figured that was fairly consistent with the universe.I guess they're less Celtic marines and more Cu Chulainn marines, since the Celts were basically proto-Europe and their myths range from place to place.
>>53180619>>53180714I admit I am not familiar with celtic mythology and culture. Reading this, I'm much more convinced of the legion, though I do still think it all needs to come together slightly more in universe, because right now I feel like the legion only really works once you know the backstory.I guess somewhat weary of another celtic legion/chapter. I mean, we've already got the OU's Storm Warders, Hektor Heresy's Thunder Kings and Imperium Asunder's Storm Hammers. I'm sure we'll figure something out though.>>53180638Don't have enough time to read through it in it's entirety right now, but from what I've read, they feel more 40k-ish than before.
>>53180498I like those colorsAlso, I see cooperation between the Silver Blades and the Spears of Dawn as a big promise. The Blades would drop—assault the place while the Spears provide CAS. That would go fine with the use of Spears/Pikes in the back lines of swordsmen blocks to assist them against their enemies, or vice versa.

>>53180714I support Cu Chulainn marines, but I will say that air cav is already kind of a concept in the Leviathan Host. For them though, it's mainly a way of modernizing sea born raiding. I also, shamefully, have not finished writing a good summary for them.
>>53180788I see your point. Guess I'm going for the 'dies defending the Imperial Palace' ending for Raj.
Could someone make a new thread? Phoneposting rn
>>53180811Maybe void warfare? Mix in some of Imperial Navy mythos. Woad sailor tattoos sound cool
>>53176734>>53176425I was thinking that their tomb world was a tropical paradise when they went to sleep and became a ship graveyard afterward under the Imperium. Some sects of destroyers never went to sleep and have stalked the surface, which is also populated by mutants and feral orks, for millions of years.
>>53180914The Necrons don't wake up until M41 though…
>>53180869Should we really make a new thread already? We're only barely above bumplimit and only on page six. I think we should wait until page 9 before making a new thread.
New Thread >>5318102>>5318102
>>53181043Maybe so… I'm used to threads sinking more quickly. >>53181048Instant delete?
>>53180914Oh yeah, the decay would just be camouflage as I suspect necrodermis doesn't actually rust.>>53180943Well, maybe we should wait to flesh (heh) these guys out until after we go over the Heresy and how it plays out.I do think we should put a limit on the number of primarchs we have or we'll end up with something like thirty legions and it'll just be a pain to keep track of it all.
>>53181117Man, stop calling it FUCK UPS all the time. Mistakes happen.
>>53181297Oh, okay. Should we move to the new thread, then? Just in case
>>53181316Doctor Jobs already posted so let's just migrate.
