The year is 1936, and the Spanish Civil War has just begun. The Republicans look to have the upper hand, holding their territories against the fascist right. Brothers kill brothers, and yesterday´s neighbours and friends are now enemies. But, unknown to the majority of the populace, both groups have begun using people with special abilities to further their own ends in the war, and the fascists are getting support open from both Germany and Italy, while the rest of the world stands in fear of intervention causing a second world war. If it continues like this, the Republic stands little chance of winning, but the workings of fate are mysterious, and someone is about to begin a very bizarre journey which might change the outcome of the war.But you know nothing of this, or do you? Who are you, about to begin your bizarre adventure? Will you change the outcome of this war?>A young man in the countryside, who has yet to take a side. >>48826987Your name is José Quintana, and you´ve lived in the countryside for all your life, helping your family tend to the crops you´ve needed to survive. Your economical situation is not very good- and you couldn´t study much, because you were needed at home, but you know how to read and write [Int=3]- You have a younger sister, aged 4, named Maria- She´s the person you love the most, and you always remember to bring her a gift when you go to sell whatever you can, even if you can´t get anything for yourself as a result. When the war broke out, you were found out through a friend of yours, and were shocked-Surely, it would end quickly, right? There´s no way the republic could lose to such a small group, when the main group was located across the sea, in Africa. You didn´t take any side, believing it would blow over quickly, and you believe your life wouldn´t change much, whoever wins this. You keep a secret from everyone- you´re possesed by an "evil spirit", and it´s been there for as long as you remember. You haven´t told anyone about it for fear of being excommunicated- Like many of the rural inhabitants of Spain, you´re very religious. This spirit seems to have strange abilities indeed, for it´s power allows you to:> Control metallic substances. You found out when your hoe broke, and the spirit was able to fix it by fusing the broken pieces together. The evil spirit, which you´ve named "Iron Maiden" for it´s female appearance and metallic looks, complete with spikes covering it´s body, is the secret you´ve kept from everyone. It´s ability to control metals in a (rather crude) manner has proved useful to you in speeding up your work, but it´s range and precision are not great. You´ve tried to move it the furthest you can from your body, but your current maximum range is of 1 meter for the main body, and a 5 meter area for it´s abilities. It´s ability makes the metals move in a very hard to control manner, but you found out that you can make moving (or falling) metal stop in midair, as you realized when the tool rack almost fell on top of you. You wouldn´t have made it out of that one if it wasn´t for your spirit, which has made you appreciate it, rather than fear it. After all, it´s never hurt you before. As you are working the fields, your father tells you that the army has begun recruiting people from villages forcibly, due to a lack of manpower. You reluctantly go to the town hall, where the Republicans are calling out the names of those that are to be recruited to follow into the fight. You guess the situation is not as good for the Republic as you originally though. You can´t leave your family behind. Not to go to this war, to kill fellow Spaniards. You can´t stand the thought of having to kill another human being, to break the laws of God in a fight for ideals you don´t share, for people you don´t know. You break into a sprint, your legs trained by countless days of working from morning till dusk."STOP! Get back here!" Shouts one of the recruiters, chasing after you. The other young men in the group look at you, then to their friends in the group, and also start running. There are not enough men in the recruiting group to catch you all, and while one or two are caught, you manage to barely escape the grasp of the one chasing you by using your spirit to push his weapon, which he was carrying, backwards- making him lose grip of it and stop to pick it back up. When he looks up again, you´re already too far for him to catch, but to his credit, he doesn´t seem to give up."GET BACK HERE YOU COWARD!"You opt not to answer to his taunt and speed up further. You know you can´t stay in the town now, not after fleeing from the recruiting- and your family might suffer the consequences of you fleeing. You hand´t thought of that, but now it is too late. You only wish that your little sister will not get hurt, and- What is she doing in front of you?"Brother! Over here!" You burn with anger you didn´t know you could have, and call for your evil spirit-"IRON MAIDEN!"And it responds to your call, standing by your side. The man looks at it with surprise- but you were sure nobody but you could see the spirit!"So my suspicions were true, you are a Stand user too, eh?" He asks."You made quite a ruckus back there. A lot of the would-be recruits escaped, and the military is planning to reinforce the security next time. You won´t be able to escape again, not alone"Do you...>Listen to him. You decide that you should listen to the man, because he seems to know what your evil spirit is. Perhaps he´s some sort of exorcist?"An exorcist? Oh no no, nothing of the sort, young man. But first, I apologize for using your lovely little sister to bring you here, i couldn´t just think of a better way to get your attention""He said he was going to help you with that spirit of yours!" Mary says, happily. Since when did she know about it? You thought you had hidden it so well..."That´s not an evil spirit you have, boy. It´s something called a "Stand", a personification of your fighting spirit, of your hidden potential. It´s something that´s deciding the outcome of this war" The man says, looking at you straight in the eye."What do you mean deciding the course of the war? You mean the falangists have spiri- eh, Stands too?""Not only the falangists have them. It seems like the germans have found a way to give some high-ranking soldiers Stands, and have shared with General Franco and his men. The Republic? They have a few with natural ones, like yours.""And where do you feature in all of this?""I´m just trying to stop this damm war before we all get killed by those Nazis. The stupid EEUU won´t help us because they´re scared of Hitler, the damm fools."The man seems to favor the Republic, but he assures you he´s just trying to stop the war altogether. If he has such lofty aspirations, then..."Yes. I have a Stand, too. Allow me to show you." The man then switches his pose to another, even more flamboyant one. He´s... kind of weird. A bit too dramatic for your liking."Fiesta pagana!"Suddenly, another evil spirit appears beside the man! This must be his Stand- a shirtless, well-built man with a demonic face and a crooked cross emblazoned in his torso- Truly a fearsome visage. [Fiesta Pagana]´s ability is to summon fierce woodland creatures and control other animals in the area. I´ve heard from your sister that your ability has something to do with metals?"You ponder for a second on how your sister found out about your ability, but shake off the thought. She had always been very perceptive."[Iron Maiden]´s ability is to move and control metals" You say. "It´s not very precise or has a lot of range, but i´m working on that. When I began to use it, it could barely reach an arm´s lenght, but it seems to be growing fast." You were quite afraid of it´s growing power before, but now, you feel like it´s growth might be key to keeping you alive, if what this man´s saying is true. If the falangists are employing these Stands, things might get very bizarre, very quickly..."So what do you say, José? Will you help me stop this stupid war?"That´s quite the endeavor. You would have to leave behind your family, after hearing that the fascists are even more dangerous than you imagined, and possibly even fight both sides of the conflict in order to survive. Next, we know some people in the southern areas, like Andalucia, have seemingly turned fanatically loyal to the falangists, but that could be normal- if it wasn´t for our contacts there going silent after Franco´s brother plane flew over them. Okay then, it seems like your highest roll is 14. You wouldn´t want to reroll now, with the Stand fight maybe coming up, would you...?DC passed. You don´t encounter any problems until you get to Gijon- no Stand users have been found on the trip.Writing.
>>48830487PRAISE JIRAIYA-SENSEI!>>48830508Hahahahahaha, no, saving that reroll for when we need to show a fucker the strength of having Magneto the Stand.
((Having all these people in my quests again makes me so happy, i´ll try to keep this more consistent than Dungeon Builder))--Your trip across Spain proves rather uneventful- It really wasn´t that long, and Francisco made what could have been an otherwise boring trip into a pretty enjoyable experience- even if he sometimes lifted a girl´s skirt with his Stand, although you will admit it was pretty funny. You have arrived at Gijon, and the sheer... blandness of the buildings strikes you as odd. This is definitely different from how your brother described it. Everyone also looks the same, and- Where did Francisco go?You feel as if something unnatural is happening.> This must be the work of an enemy Stand! The weapons issue was specially prevalent. The Spanish civil war amounted to a testing ground for the armament that would be utilized during WW2, Spaniards lack of experience with such sophisticated armament was likely one of the main factors of the huge amount of casualties. That and a major lack of training of the Republican forces, a problem that only got worse as the war went on and the Republic scrambled to obtain more forces.Russia was also a problem. It was thanks to the Russians that the republic managed to hold on so long, but at the same time they were some bloodthirsty fuckers. Political Commissars during the civil war had nothing to envy from 40K Commissars. They would out and execute anyone suspect of having ties with the fascists, no matter how small.Actually my grandma's uncle died in one of such witch hunts. He was a republican combatant for the Republic in Barcelona until one day he showed up in HQ dressed with fine clothes like a burguoise. The local Commissar had him put against the wall and shot, no trial of course.Tbh it probably wasn't a good time to go around dressed like a pimp.

>Rolled an 18 and a 20. Both DC passed.Critical uccess! You remember that Francisco keeps a metallic bottle full of cider in his backpack. >>48831260Nah, We ain't boss fight yet nor do we know when we'll get another Re-roll.
>>48831228I like it!>>48831260Well, it's up to Salt since he rolled higher.
You decide to get up close and personal with the enemy stand user-Ignoring the fact that he´s probably got a gun, or at least a knife- You´re sure you can use your Stand to stop him from using those if you need to.You walk towards him as if you still didn´t know where he was, looking away from him, when he tries to pounce upon you with his knife- Which you deflect using [Iron Maiden]´s power- And start pummeling on his face, using both your fist and your stand´s!He reels back, his nose broken, and his face bruised, and then Francisco´s birds lose sight of him- as if the entire crowd had become a uniform blob.Seems like he has more up his sleeve than you thought- And he threw away the knife so you wouldn´t be able to track him with it, after realizing what your Stand could do.What do you do?>Write-In.
>>48831327Look for his tracks, We're from the country. Surely we can follow the shoe prints he made into the blob? Unless I've miss understood.
>>48831327Regroup with Francisco, keep him close if a bullet comes (and if we have the power to do so), we can stop it from hitting.
>>48831327Oh, change to this >>48831345, Salt's got a good idea.
>>48831345He made eveything look even more generic, so basically even the birds can´t discern anything in the group. Sight is basically useless against him right now.>>48831347Your precision is extremely low, so you would need to roll quite high to be able to block a bullet.
>>48831380Ah, What about his foot-steps though? I mean he WAS right infront of us, So could we use them and follow?
>>48831400Well, since you asked about this, i´ll tell you- Remember, he was bleeding profusely from his nose. Blood isn´t affected by his power (because it´s already generic blood), so you can use it to track him.
>>48831424>We didn't think of thisSomehow, I feel like this lack of attention to detail is going to bite us in the ass later on. Anyways, lets go for it.
>>48831424>BleedingTHATS THE ENEMY WANTS US TO BELIEVE! I feel fucking retarded, Can we please follow the blood.
>>48831442He could´ve had a gun, and you wouldn´t have been able to stop it in time due to your low speed. he actually HAD a gun, but i decided to play easy on you guys because it´s the first threadAlright, roll me 1d20+5, bonus for tracking him using his blood before it dissapears due to his stand making the ground generic. Also, do you want to know his stand´s name? Or try to guess?
Rolled 9 + 5 (1d20 + 5)>>48831476Tumbling down, Tumbling down. Also we'll beat it out of him. Would't we know where the bullet would be flying at us from tho and could dodge it or atleast move so it only hits a non-vital part?
Rolled 12 + 5 (1d20 + 5)>>48831476I can't even think of a name right now, so if we don't know before the end of the fight, go ahead and tell, please.
Alright, you seem to be rolling pretty consistently.Writing...Also, if you want to know when i´ll be running, you can just follow me on twitter at @Dawngeongaming. Will try to keep this consistent.
You notice the trail of blood he´s leaving slowly becoming normal ground again, so you rush to follow the trail- You need to find the enemy stand user again before he completely covers his tracks.>Rolled a 17... Success! You run after the enemy, taking care of scanning everyone around you with [Iron Maiden]. Some of them carry weapons, and a few of them are carrying guns- but they seem completely unaware anything is happening. None have realized they´re being affected by the enemy stand- It seems people without Stands can´t notice the effects of this one.You reach the man, who quickly notices you- and gets into a fighting stance."[A World Without Logos]!"His stand, much like his ability, is completely nondescript- With it´s major feature being a giant question mark over its blank face, and a small goatee. It´s otherwise a bland gray color. You get into a fighting stance too- or the best one you can pull off, with your lack of actual combat training. Perhaps this wasn´t the best idea...> Go back in for the melee attack. You can´t read him to see how tired or damaged he is, but he took your full attack before. You don´t have the element of surprise anymore. (1d20)> Call for Francisco to use his animals to swarm him. (1d20)> Other:Write-In?
>>48830870Not so easy I fear. France denied supporting the republic, but they provided the most weapons out of any country. Also most weapons provided by other European countries and specially Russian ones were smuggled through the Pyrenees and through sea from Marseille (which would be a nice place to visit in the campaign).Mexico also played a key role providing troops. They sent the most after Russia.Honestly the only way I see to lower the bloodshed to a minimum would be to cause WW2. That was the big hope of the Republican government during the war, holding out long enough for WW2 to start and have all of Franco's foreign aid leave. For it to work not only would we have to cause WW2 as soon as possible, but also get the USA into it right away, but doing so would not only reduce the bloodshed in Spain, but also likely reduce the casualties in Britain, prevent the occupation in France, keep Mussolini from invading the balkans (or was it just Greece?) and may even leave the Nazis no time to cause the holocaust. So what do you say?, will you cause WW2?, will you make Pearl Harbor happen to save the world?
>>48831763Go back in for the melee attack. You can´t read him to see how tired or damaged he is, but he took your full attack before. You don´t have the element of surprise anymore. (1d20)we'd more likely end up being attacked sense the bids would be confused.>>48831765Nope, Fuck that Peral harbor shit. I wasn't alive during it but I'm bitter they did it.
You´re going back in for the melee finisher?Roll me 1d20-3, please.
>>48831841It'd just happen even if we let it be, we might just make the best of it.Also there's no need to actually MAKE Pearl Harbor happen. We just need USA to clare war to Germany. We don't actually need to factor Japan into the equation at all, although the plan would also prevent a lot of bloodshed in that part of the globe as well, shortening or outright preventing Japanese occupation of the Pacific.

You once again decide to go in for the melee- But this time, you don´t have the element of surprise- and [A world without logos]´s user is a trained combatant. However, you manage to land a couple of hits before being pushed back, and suddenly, his Stand´s illusion dispells, and you can see the people around you who had weapons aim at you.Oh.Probably should have taken care of that before they could see you.-END Updates-Will post the pastebin shortly. >>48830889>So how do we logically drive Russia out? Because we're already in the civil war stage?i could read on that, we are at the starting stages of the war, so there's plenty of time to pan something out.Just a thing, throwing the russians out would mean the fascists would likely win the war much faster. This would reduce the losses, but would also leave Franco in a position to give Hitler much more support, potentially changing the outcome of WW2.
