Welcome, to the first of its kind Mecha Space Pirate Quest Discussion Thread! As always, you are Anon, a poster on 4chan's /tg/ (or possibly a namefag).Today, I'll be answering questions about the setting, talking shop about mecha, and discussing the various waifus and backstory details Roarke would know through the offscreen conversations with them.Posts won't be as long unless you get me started on something serious, and I suspect a lot more of this thread will be Anon chatter than usual, but that's how a good discussion thread goes, so let's get to it!Since every thread needs something to jaw about from the get-go, though, and I enjoy the feedback, I'll start things off. What is YOUR favorite non-Kaiser mech so far?
>>47810334Probably Stern's Bluegill, using a really basic mech to beat much stronger mechs is always cool
>>47810334>>47810396i agree. i love how fancy some of these mechs are, but there something about having an older, more basic machine perfectly tuned for you that makes me love it more than the kaiser. And I love that you used the tallgesse for it's image
>>47810334Offhand, the S-Flowerhorn's straightforward offensive power terrifies me.Possibly Naomi's machine, depending on its actual stats when we finally see it?
>>47810396I was actually about to talk about that. Some of you may have noticed yesterday had kind of a weird pace. Well, that was my fault. Originally, I'd planned for him to find an excuse to duel Roarke. However, when the time came for that to actually happen...I realized it didn't fit with his personality or goals at all. After all, it would be a duel for fun and for the sake of stretching his legs. This doesn't work when the Kaiser is already damaged. It wouldn't be fair.As for being really basic? Sort of. The Bluegill Fencer is actually a surprisingly expensive mech, in the same range as the Knuckle Kaiser and King Swordfish Mk. II. It's built along a very different line, however. Rather than prioritizing power or damage (although it can dish out a lot of hurt with its sword), its number one priority is not getting in the way of the pilot's high dicepools. In the hands of a rookie, it would be a pretty weak mech. In the hands of a super-ace, it's a juggernaut of destruction.
>>47810396I have to admit, a refined model with some history does seem nicer than a sheer cutting edge prototype. Its why I like the Gouf in gundam. Blue zaku with more bits, improved and customized for more specialized combat.
>>47810507About that. I was just about to say something about the S-Puffer. You see, Karen has had both the time and the inclination to visit the Jaburo and take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to poke around a SOUL mechbay without being arrested. She's had a chance to look over Naomi's mech and take some notes on it, in exchange for sharing the S-Tarrasque's data with the techs onboard. Let me just dig out my notes...
S-PufferMedium Weight Torso: C/S/K 12, 6 tonsMedium Weight Head: C/S/K 6, 3 tonsMedium Weight Left Arm: C/S/K 7, 3 tonsLeft Hand: 2 CP, 1 Space, 1 Kill, 0.5 tonsMedium Weight Right Arm: C/S/K 7, 3 tonsRight Hand: 2 CP, 1 Space, 1 Kill, 0.5 tonsMedium Weight Left Leg: C/S/K 7, 3 tonsMedium Weight Right Leg: C/S/K 7, 3 tonsArmor: Officer's Light Heavy (7 SP, 10.5 CP, 3.5 tons) on all locations, does not ablate from damage caused by attacks dealing less than 4 KillsMain Sensors (Head): 4 CP, 1 Space, 2 Kills, 1 tonBackup Sensors (Torso): 2 CP, 2 Spaces, 2 Kills, 1 tonOptions: Torso Cockpit with Environment Pod (2 CP, 2 Spaces), Torso Storage Module (1 CP, 1 Space), Liftwire (0.3 CP), Spotlights (0.2 CP), Interservo System Cross Linkage (Reactive Shield controlled from the Torso 6 CP), Interservo Weapons Cross Linkage (Beam Magnums 3 CP), Deluxe Anti-Theft Lock (0.4 CP), Stereo (0.1 CP),Armament:[6 Spaces per arm, 3 in the torso] Reactive Bubble Shield: Automatically parries any attack with less than 10K damage, if hit by an attack with more damage the shield flickers out for two turns. If hit with a direct attack (such as a lucky crit or megacrit) 9 Kills of damage puts it out for the rest of the fight. 33 CP, 15 Spaces, 4 tons[Handheld] Beam Magnum x2 (stats show an individual pistol): Range 550m, WA +1, 8K, BV3, Infinite Ammo, 32.5 CP, 7 Spaces, 4 tonsThrusters & Speed: 7 per leg, 4 in the torso, moves 400 meters per turn in flight or can run 200m. 18 CPTotal Weight: 57 tonsTotal Cost: 248 CPOriginally, it was named the S-Fugu, and it's still the S-Fugu on paper. Naomi thought S-Puffer sounded cuter, however, and has called it that ever since. Clemmy more or less did the same with her S-Stiletto by insisting on keeping the name S-Flowerhorn.
>>47810334The King Swordfish without a doubt. I love making dragoon type characters. Also that charge is pretty kickass. It definitely needs to improve the weight on it's arms though.
>>47810621You were right that thing is cheeky as shit I don't think we can even pierce her shield
>>47810621You know, I noticed something; S-Slayer, S-Slinger, S-Stiletto. All S names likely designed to give them a uniformed theme. They really are going for the PR.
>>47810621How horribly optimized is the Knuckle Kaiser. Like seriously. All these guys have so much better tech and cost so much less CP. Can't we just redesign the thing from he ground up.
>>47810621Hey Wong can you clarify how you are handling spaces for high CP weapons? Is there just space efficiency being added that isnt being shown?
>>47810621>10-Kill Reactive Shield without any other active defenses>WA+1 BV 3 Beam WeaponIt really is a mook killer, isn't it? Maximum cheese 15 SP Reset X Enclosing version when?
>>47810722Shh, its already getting shit for free. Not really a huge amount we can do with it anyway considering the pilot's skill set.
>>47810771Pretty much this, all we need is to get our own reactive shield and we can stop worrying about people snipping us
>>47810722It may be cheaper, but it's also cheeky as the breeky can get. It's actually REALLY damn specialized for what it does as well. Sure it might give the Kaiser and it's flurry of blows problems, but it's screwed against Jesus and his gun or Slayer and 1 12k missile. It's also really heavy for rookie and it's shield is in multiple servos. Take out a arm and it's dead. The kaiser, while not as cheeky, is capable of dealing with ranged threats and has much better speed. In short, it's a nice defensive model, but the moment someone comes with a big enough hammer, it will fold.
>>47810794Maybe add some foot weapons.
>>47810802Those magnums tho.
>>47810805We could switch the feet for Talon which would let us grip onto things and it does 5k damage
>>47810739Yes. It's so ubiquitous I don't generally bother mentioning it.
>>47810722It's mainly the fact that we have so many additional systems. Most heavy-duty combat mechs don't have a Target Analyzer and ASP. Many mechs also only have 1 shield and 1 main weapon, while we have 2 ATFs and 2 shields, plus Grapple-chan.>>47810835Thus decreasing our land speed to 100m per turn? Most of our fights take place in space, true. But it'll be extremely awkward if we ever find ourselves grounded.I don't think we really need to do anything in particular to our feet unless we can actually work out how Leg Extremities are even statted other than Link them to our fists.
>>47810830so? 10 k each, but they need to hit. She is sitting on a -5 I believe. Because they aren't quick, she can only fire them once a action. Likewise, an active shield could shut her down if the person is quick enough. In short, yes those pistols are strong, but first they must hit and with all that weight, she's going to have a hard time.
>>47810881Get a boosterpack. Boosterpacks are the shit.
>>47810754Yes. I was initially making an offhand joke about her taking out the most Green Skulls during the Battle of Auditorium, but her mech would be awful for a Harpy swarm to encounter. The Kaiser, at least, can bust her shield with a particular attack, and the King Swordfish can do it with a regular Lance stab...but a Harpy is kind of fucked.
>>47810881Wait but isn't our MA at 8 so we can fly? And in that case we wouldn't need to worry about running on land
>>47810909>not mounting your Thruster Systems on Weapon Mounts>laughing_munchkins.jpg
>>47810897They are linked though. And can potentially hit multiple times.
>>47810920Our MA is 10 I believe.
>>47810958Emphasis on 'potentially'. WA+1 BV3 means that it's unlikely to hit more than once on average against a similarly-skilled foe.It shreds mooks to pieces, though.
>>47810969Then we should be able to fly on land so we don't have to really worry about the talons drawback
>>47810802Yep. The SOUL Squads are intended to work as a team, with Pierre and Caesar covering Naomi's weaknesses. You saw firsthand how a powerful but hyperspecialized mech can have trouble out of its element with Clemmy and the Archen.
Question, Mr. Wong. Is the UJCIDF the only extrasolar military operating in the Sol system or do Venus, Mars, Luna, and Earth send military forces to fight against "Avalon"?
>>47810975We saw what linked 8 kill guns do to people before though. They aint no joke.
>>47811014When? refresh my memory for a bit.
>>47811043Red Siren made shit of clem with them and shadow spam.
>>47811014Because Clemmy rolled exceptionally poorly and Rosita rolled exceptionally well. High BV weapons rely on you rolling significantly better than your opponent, which doesn't actually happen all that often against similarly-skilled opponents. By nature, Burst Fire weapons are primarily mook killers, unless paired with high WA.
>>47810958Here's the thing about linked. If the one dice roll misses, they both miss. Likewise, you need to hit 3 over the enemy to get a full burst. Now, it doesn't seem like a lot, but remember; her stats are not super high yet. She likely has a 6 for guns giving her 16. Take away 5, then add one thanks to her +1 to hit. She has a basic attack role of 12. If stern is in the same range, but has a huge dice pool, he could possibly have a 20 if maxxed. That is a 8 point difference. If he spent a luck point each turn, he cannot be hit at all.Not only that, but there are ways to screw over beam weapons. Anti beam chaff missiles for example serve as barriers against beam weapons equal to their kills, last a while, and are cheap as hell if you make them personal range. Likewise blinding and obscuring could lower her accuracy and make her unable to hit.It IS a scary weapon, but it can also be countered with something I can get for 1-2 Cp a pop.
>>47810754Absolutely no Enclosing anti-everything shenanigans. Reactive shields cannot be activated and deactivated on the same turn, that's my call on it.
>>47811127This is a good decision, and I w̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶f̶i̶n̶d̶ ̶s̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ approve.Still, does Karen poking around at the S-Puffer mean we'll finally be able to get our own Reactive Shield soon? Hopefully a Ranged-only Enclosing 15 SP one to fuck over Jesus?
Man I am still waiting for that Kaiser Knuckle VS. S-Flowerhorn fight
So what have Oda, Miles, and Richard been doing recently? We haven't hung out with them in a while
>>47810989Yes. Mars is the vanguard, actually, Fatima bragged about it shortly after you met. The UJCIDF is just the most visible and prominent, Luna and Terra are more about technological and financial support.
>>47811477Explains a bunch and makes Fairchild's actions that much more cheeky. If she cannot get support from Mars or Earth, then her entire plan is stalled due to the lack of funds and man power.
Mr.Wong What is your favorite non Kaiser mech?
>>47811401Probably training for the rematch against Caesar on Bluegill Joe. Then losing horribly again.
>>47811401Oda has been working on an upgrade to his mech. Miles and Richard have been canoodling and working extensively on improving their piloting skills.
Did Miles ever figure out Caesar was the one that beat her on sim and taunted her?
>>47811626The Osano-Wo. As an ace mech, its first version is kind of outdated, but if you scrub the weeaboo bits off it and make the katanas and heavy armor more generic it becomes a fine low-cost officer's mech.
I have to wonder: is it just aesthetics that's caused the humanoid frame to be adopted as go-to design for mechs everywhere, or is there some other reason that causes them to be favored over other, otherwise more physically efficient, structures?
What is the general opinion of us on Io? In our Hometown?
>>47811834Isnt it something like being easier for the brain to interface with?
>>47811880That might be a valid point, if Thought Control or Reflex Controls were the default control system. But as it is, the standard control scheme is fly-by-wire. Which means it's just about as easy to pilot a non-humanoid mech as it is a humanoid one. Possibly easier, if you've got less limbs to keep track of.
>>47811834>>47811880That and HMIS interfaces the brain and the machine. So, technically, any vehicle that uses HMIS is a mech.
>>47811834This came up in a very early thread, and no, there is a reason. Mecha are controlled via the HMIS. A human mind is better at controlling a roughly human-shaped body than it is at controlling something with tank treads or six legs or a jet fighter. It reacts faster and with more accuracy. However, it's not the go-to design everywhere, religious Martians (including the military and nobility) view humanoid mecha as haram.
>>47811948What does HMIS stand for again?
>>47811928Pretty sure people fly shit with their brain in this setting.
>>47811965human machine interface system id assume.
>>47811948Which is stupid idiotic i'd say.
>>47811868You haven't been back there in a while, but you think it might vary from person to person. The Ionian authorities and Bucephalus Heavy Industries probably throw darts at pictures of your face. Local kids probably want to grow their hair out and wear shades and pretend to be you when they're playing.
>>47812112>Local kids probably want to grow their hair out and wear shades and pretend to be you when they're playingWell thats pretty easy when all the kids in our town have orange hair
>>47812140please, our mother had the red head genes and our father was that one hellsing priest. They aren't all orange headed kids yet.Wait about 20 years once we got the ball rolling.
>>47812245>Implying Roarke didn't leave Io to escape the multiple child support payments he was going to have to pay
So how about those Waifu backstories you were talking about?
>>47812263>implying Roarke would be so cruel as to run out on supporting his children>implying he didn't become a pirate because there was no other way he'd be able to earn the money to keep his kids well-cared for
What exactly happened at Io that caused the death of Roarke's parents and the CCC's loss of his legs? Yet, CCC was still willing to stay and helped cover it up with the official story. Was Fairchild aware of the incident that robbed her of her sempai? Or did she had a yandere episode and killed them off?
>>47812065Which part? If you mean the Martian thing, there is a reason for it that Mohammed briefly went into during Metal Gear Moe. After the War, Jupiter had two huge, successful mecha companies with massive clout, loads of money, and several excellent designs. Mars had dozens of small companies, all of which were fairly new, and many of their early designs were utterly impractical and ridiculous. It started out as a protective measure for the Martian companies to avoid being eaten alive, Caliph Hakim casually mentioned to some friends of his at a state dinner that he didn't think it was truly in keeping with Islam to fly a mech in the shape of a human being, and immediately the sheikhs stopped buying from Jupiter. Most of the surviving Martian companies still died out, were bought up into a handful of stable brands, or were absorbed into the Martian military, but they're a sizable industry and Scimitars are a popular recreation, recon, and anti-Harpy mech.
>>47810526You know, considering Stern and his Fencer, would he find the Paladin S and G to be acceptable? http://pastebin.com/skXJUx02Both have a MV of only -1.
>>47812327Roarke was too young to know much about it other than that there was some kind of accident, falling debris killed his father and crushed Cassius' legs. It was a closed-casket funeral, but apparently Roarke's mom got burned to death somehow trying to rescue her husband and son.
>>47812555God does Hamon have our Mom locked up somewhere
>>47812531Yes. He would. Also, damn, you were looking to make the Paladins distinctive and you succeeded with that low MV.
>>47812587That was the idea all along. Stupid tough, heavy, and all the fucking thrusters, while having an MV -1. Fun fact, the pilot has Reflexes 10, and Piloting and Melee at 6.
>>47812531Looking at it, I have to wonder where you put 20 spaces worth of verniers. Remember, you need 5 verniers for each MV. I'd recommend showing your total costs at each step to make sure the math is easy to see for anyone looking.
>>47812741Verniers can have Space Efficiency. So can Thrusters. So all that mobility gets squirreled away within foot after foot of armor.
>>47812789thrusters yes, but verniers are weird since they are also a cost multiplier. Also that is 10+ cp worth of space efficiency with no notes or mention of it. There's not even notes on how much the thrusters or MA cost.
On an unrelated note, regarding Naomi's mech, I was just browsing through the ATM, and it seems that, by the standard rules, Energy Pools can indeed by hand-held?
>>47812828Yeah I guess I should fix that. The S has a total multiplier of 1.47. The G has a total multiplier of 1.57. The S's thrusters cost 23.13 I believe? And have no space efficiency on Thrusters or Verniers. The G's thrusters cost 39.3 after 2.5 points of Space Efficiency (for 5 space, which is noted) and... actually 0 space efficiency on the Verniers, funnily enough. Looking over the whole thing again, the S actually doesn't have any Space Efficiency, just 4 CP of Weight to keep it under 60 tons. The G has 2.5 CP of Space in its Thrusters, and 12 CP of Weight. And yes, Verniers can have Space Efficiency.
>>47812294Do you need me to be more specific with this?
>>47812994Yeah, this is a problem I had to deal with while developing the cardinal and the rook. While I could make them bigger, the extra weight from the frame and cp cost for thrusters will tend to eat up a lot of space.. which means more cp to minimize space. For the cardinal(seen here: http://pastebin.com/Ph40t9fn), I simply made the legs one size category bigger while removing a kill in each leg to give them 2 more space each. Gave me plenty of room to go up to 12 MA and a -2 to MV total.
>>47813023In order of smallest to biggest backstories;Clemmy, Samantha, Fatima, Karen, Rosita.
>>47813192I would rather they all be somewhat even with a little more for characters we don't know as much about
>>47812789I think I might have houseruled out Thrusters being allowed to have Space Efficiency. I think. I forget if I changed my mind or not.>>47812942Indeed they can, and indeed the sample illustration is of one. However, reactive shields specifically cannot be handheld, it's in the shield rules.>>47813023Hmm...it would be helpful. Who do you want to know about?
How important was the Belt in defeating the Green Men? I remember Slayer saying something about it
>>47813281I remember you laughing maniacally over it, but never houseruling it out.
>>47813281Favorite foods, colors, music, where they grew up, goal in life, fun factsthats about it
>>47813247I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing here, Thunder. You are aware what "plot, justice, and backstory" actually means on the internet right? :^)
>>47813352I do I just thought you meant actual backstories because no way does Clemmy have the smallest and Karen the second biggest
>>47813281>Who do you want to know about?S̶t̶e̶r̶n̶Clemmy, perhaps?
>>47813376In relation to the Waifu group. Clemmy's pretty slim in Overlord and Sam's Sa-a-man-tha. Karen's has enough plot and has to have the backstory to match it. Also, one of the major reasons why Rosita sees her as her one true rival for Roarke.
>>47813486We've never really talked about Karen's backstory but I swear Wong said Sam had a nice one
>>47813297A lot of that I'll probably just sprinkle into the sessions. None of them are a music nerd on par with Roarke, except Red Siren.Karen's favorite food is meal bars. Good food is somewhat lost on her, because she habitually eats while she's working or sketching out blueprints for upgrades. She likes fancy floral patterns more than specific colors, and she's told you that she's always dreamed about being on a planet. She's spent her whole life in space or on various colonies. Despite how she looks, she's surprisingly tough and her wrench weighs as much as a mace. She isn't quite as good or Mohammed or Samantha, but she does do some fencing with them. As for Samantha, she grew up in a rainy agricultural colony of Europa. She and her younger twin Pierre were born to the upper class, her father was a landowner and her mother was a a senior weather administrator for the colony. They're both still alive, but retired, they had children fairly late in life because they prioritized their careers ahead of their personal lives. She's a steak and potatoes kind of girl by nature even though she has upper-class tastes and aesthetics. Her hobby is sewing, and she enjoys making her own clothes. She enjoys a light-dark contrast, and despite being well-bred secretly enjoys wearing maid outfits.
>>47813813>and despite being well-bred secretly enjoys wearing maid outfits. There surely has to be a story behind how this came to be.
>>47813813Karen has man hands doesn't she?Have you posted what Knuckle Kaiser Mk2 is going to be like? Are you making it yourself or are we going to be part of the revamp?
If we chose a different style of fighting how would we have had train us like Master Asia is doing? For sword and energy would it be space Guts
>>47814249Who not how
Do you make a character then roll stats for them, or do you roll stats and build a character around what you get?
>>47813973You should ask her sometime.>>47814225No, her wrench is an automatic. They're a little rough, but small. Her nails are pretty much always short and never painted. As for the Mk II, what I essentially did what rebuilt it from the ground up. Bigger, stronger, with more accurate punches that do more damage and an Active Shield. After that you start walking the path of major upgrades like Drones and Reactive Shields and Mass Weight Efficiency.>>47814249I'm not sure. It's often hard to tell what plans I would have made if things had gone differently because they shift so much, new characters pop in with barely any permission from me, and others change almost beyond recognition. Guns would have been Clint Eastwood, complete with a vitriolic hatred of Martians and extrasolars. As for melee, there are so many good examples that I wouldn't have had to go for someone as young as Guts. I'm not sure about missiles, but I would have found someone.
>>47814401I'm using point-buy, just to clarify, if that's what you meant. I statted Roarke after he was rolled up in the first thread, but I'm not sure if that's usually how it's done.
>>47814446Missiles would've been someone from Macross and their love of missile spam. Speaking of which, just remembered that Martian mechs are all non-humanoid. So Space-Belka when?
More on waifus.Karen has a bit of a grudge against both Bucephalus and Bahamut. The incident that forced her grandfather out of his position as a highly respected mecha designer soured him on the industry, and while he got over it and is content with what he does currently Karen feels the insult more keenly and it's made her competitive.Samantha's parents are both rather uninvolved and spend little time together, she and Pierre were both more or less raised in a huge manor house by a large staff, with a lot of private tutoring and fancy early-childhood prep courses that segued nicely into joining the Academy and the UJCIDF. She deeply admires Colonel Stern, who improved on the fencing skills she and her brother already possessed during her time as a SOUL pilot. She's a bit of a romantic, and the more pragmatic Roarke can kind of get the sense that Samantha takes the whole 'knight of Jupiter' thing a little more seriously than some pilots, she has an unusually strong sense of righteousness. She's also tied for the position of strongest sword on your crew with Oda, both of them having precisely equal Blade and Mecha Melee stats. You've seen them spar before. As for Clemmy? You don't know. You know very little about her actual life, just what you've exchanged in texts. As for Rosita, she comes from a lower-middle-class family. Her parents didn't get along, she hated her stepsister and her stepsister hated her, and when she started winning amateur pilot competitions and her singing started getting some local recognition she moved out at around the same age most teenagers in that social class are getting ready to enter a trade program or the Academy. She was scouted by Bahamutcorp for the whole idol gig shortly thereafter, when she won a Bluegill paintball tournament while singing a song she'd written and it went viral on the holonet. She was a bit more cute and sugary and Magical Girl-ish back then.
>>47814446When is the mid-season update for the Kaiser going to be in effect? Next session? Or will it be after Fatima's deal? Please make our arms extra heavy. Literally useless without them. Do shields have kill structures?
>>47814635May be a bit tough to say, but what do you think of the batches of mechs being made? From Hooligan, to Paladin, to Cardinal and all inbetween? Any tips? Thoughts?
>>47814688About the custom mechs if were still doing the tournament idea where we all put in our own designs what is the cp amount your limiting it to?
>>47814726Not wong, but the limit was around 140 cp since they were suppose to be mook mechs.
>>47814755Oh ya those were going to be the new mechs for the crew, but could we make the mechs for the aces that are going to come for our tourny?
...and a bit more on Karen. As I mentioned, she has a grudge. See, despite having the highest Intelligence+Education of all the waifus when you look at her as a collection of stats, she has almost no formal education. She's done a lot of learning sims, and she has more practical engineering experience and raw talent than virtually anyone on the Jaburo, and she speaks several languages, but her handwriting is an untidy, childish scrawl and she is staunchly against the notion of philosophy. She's the most rough-spoken of the girls and is probably the most aggressive after Clemmy, although she sweetens up when you're around. She and Miles are great buddies, and she's very close with Avi because of the general assumption that they're half-siblings. She looks up to Samantha and has taken great pains to bully the crew into accepting her despite the way she arrived on the ship. In fact, she's probably the reason why Miles didn't try to start a fistfight with Samantha for roughing up her Master Harpy.
>>47814685Shields have kills equal to their SP. The mid-season upgrade will come into effect in the future, after Fatima's deal at the very least. After all, it's a big upgrade.>>47814688It is tough to say. I'd appreciate it if everyone used my format for them, since it helps me decipher it more quickly. Some of them might have shenanigans, I'd have to take some time to sit down and look through them again.>>47814726>>47814755140, yes.
>>47814775Well, in all fairness, 140 is probably good for some aces as it is. Master harpies are not that much higher since they hover around the 140-160 range. Compared to most pirates, our crew is actually pretty well armed. Besides, I am sure if they win they could always make Custom versions of their machines.
>>47814827>Shields have kills equal to their SP.>"Let's see, his shield is 6 SP. 3 against the 14K AP of Ave Caesar over that distance. So 11 of that goes to his left arm. " - Mecha Space Pirate Quest XXII You jerk. You let Mohammed job. 6K + 3 SP (6SP / 2) = 9 for shield5K + 2 SP (5SP / 2) = 7 for armIt's good to know how actually tough our arms are though with our large shields.
>>47813486Clemmy has pretty good ass&thighs tho.
anyone interesting in the Storm Dragons besides Oda?
>>47814873What do you mean? The shield wasn't destroyed, Ave Caesar's damage was more than its SP. He didn't destroy the shield so much as put a hole through it and tear through the arm. Unless I'm very wrong. I'm not sure why you're adding those together. The shield's kills aren't an extra layer of defense, the shield blocked what it could (3K of 14K), and the rest went to the limb it was mounted on. The shield itself only lost 1 SP.
>>47813486>>47814929She's definitely not flatchested, though.
How many times have we fucked up your plans for us and you had to go and rewrite shit you were planning?
>>47815006Is his whole crew just going to be basketball players?
>>47814992So many, many times. Most notably critically seducing Clemmy.
>>47814992Well.. we probably trivialized the majority of Fairchild's plan. The dice destroyed the Green Skull fleet, and we managed to flat out deny First Mate not once, but twice. As is, she should probably start working hard to get respect with the Pope because Mars will likely become a no go for her.
>>47815020No. Joining his crew involves adopting the culture of glorious nippon and folding the steel of your soul a thousand times upon the anvil of fiery determination.
>>47815023HOLY SHIT WHAT IS THAT SEXY MECH BEAST
So when do we fight the Martian space shark mechs?
>>47815023You've already lamented that one. What was the second most derailing thing we've done?
>>47815067A Barzam that has been refined even further. You know, I can forgive the Titans an awful lot for their grade-A taste in Mobile Suits.
Does Rosita have anyone interesting in her crew?
>>47815067Daaaum yeah.Anybody tell a newbie whats it from?
>>47815102The Titans had some sexy machines
>>47815117Looks like a custom using a AGE gundam base due to the chest thing. >>47815102Probably designed to look like the Barzam as wong said.
>>478149636K + 3 SP (6SP / 2) = 9 for shield5K + 2 SP (5SP / 2) = 7 for arm6K is the shield's own kill structure. The 3SP is the reduced armour value since Caesar has an AP weapon. It should add up to a value of 9K blocked. Why would the attack go through the shield without destroying the shield in the process? That's the whole point parrying. Wouldn't it be the same as how a servo has a kill structure and an SP value. Even weapons take damage to their own kill structure when they parry a strike.
>>47815147Dude, you do not add the kills along with the SP when you block an attack. It's not counted twice, even if the shield is on the same arm. It pierced through. Hell, it should be doing more damage since Wong didn't take into consideration the arm strength of two arms. There is also the fact that the servo could be targetted in the joint or behind the shield or the force could shatter the internals. There are many ways to do that without destroying the shield entirely.
>>47815206A servo has kills and SP as well. First the attack goes though the SP then it does damage to the kills structure. My reasoning is that since the shield is blocking the strike then it should use it's kills as well as it's armour as a literal defense against the offending weapon and the shield arm. Otherwise there is no point of the shield having a kill structure in the first place.SP is armour. Kill Structure is the actual integrity of the shield. Wouldn't the shield have to lose it's kill structure in order for the weapon to pierce through it and reach the shield arm.
>>47815102Mmm.GM QUEL PLEASE.
>>47815279No, because 1, that was not stated anywhere in the rules. That is something you say should happen which would make shields double dip fiercly. 2, as mentioned before there are ways to destroy the arm through a shield. Sheer force can shatter a weak limb even if the shield takes it, could push the shield inward, wrecking the servo, or may other methods.. like piercing through a part of the shield. What he did was fluff, but the crunch stays the same. The shield was not enough to parry the shield's SP. It got through and pierced the arm. The left over damage destroyed the arm.If we want to get into silly stuff, the +1 for each arm wasn't calculated. That means that the total damage would be +16 since it was two handed. Enough to destroy the shield outright along with the arm.
>>47815279The shield's SP comes from being an extra layer of integrity between the attack and the mech. It's not added twice. A shield with a hole in it can still be used to block, but not if so much damage goes through that the arm on the other side is pierced completely through. The shield's kills are not fundamentally separate from its SP, although its mount has a separate Kill of structure in the event of a certain critical result. To pierce the shield, a weapon must surpass its SP. Any damage over and above this goes on to the servo the shield is mounted on.As for a servo having SP, that isn't an inherent function of servos, it's a result of them buying armor with SP to cover them. Does armor need to be reduced to 0 SP for damage to be done to the servo beneath? No, and the same applies to shields, because functionally a shield is a big extra slab of armor.
>>47815279No, because a shield may be penetrated without having its entire structural integrity compromised. A focused particle beam, a high-velocity projectile, a thrust from a large pointy stick; all these things may be able to penetrate the local area of the shield used to block, while leaving enough of the shield intact to parry the next strike.
>>47815133Yes, this pleases me.>>47815322As does this, although I can't blame the Titans for nabbing the Hizack.>>47815206Good point, with Light Heavy arms the King Swordfish Mk. II could be doing 16K per hit before Ave Caesar.
>>47815337Reactive armour when?Who do we have to sleep with to get an actual armour+ upgrade that negates armour piercing. All these AP weapons ruining everything.Kinda awkward to sleep with the Doc for it though. Athena is for head pats only. Are they joining our crew or what? He's a legit engineer.
>>47815096Its probably when we killed the Green Skulls, but im interested to hear which one it is>>47815395Guess we have to wait for a new waifu to be introduced or go out and find one
>>47815206>Hell, it should be doing more damage since Wong didn't take into consideration the arm strength of two arms. And from this innocuous statement was birthed the horrible monstrosity that was the Ball of Arms Mech - wielding a simple pointed stick across 8 Super Heavy Arms, it once again taught men the true meaning of fear. Seriously though, I don't think you're supposed to add the bonus more than once, just like you don't take additional MA penalties from multiple sets of Talon-tipped Legs.
Wait I just thought of something we never got an upgrade for sleeping with Clemmy
>>47815395You promised safety for them, they likely won't find it on a pirate ship.As for negating armor piercing, that isn't likely, unfortunately.
>>47815430What, getting Clemmy herself not enough of a reward for you?
>>47815419fair enough, but as wong said, thats a light heavy arm so it still buffs it by +2.>>47815395Armor piercing is actually something we don't have to worry so much about. For starters, armor piercing is a solid weapon thing only compared to the energy weapon's thing, so energy weapons won't have it. You know what the navy likes to use? Energy weapons. Especially with their later machines.
>>47815450And a girl that best should have an amazing upgrade to prove her best girl status on all levels
>>47815415>>47815096Hoo, there are a lot of them. Flirting with Samantha initially changed a lot in the long run. So did starting as pure brawl. There have been a lot of fights where you've gotten an absurdly lucky critical and avoided damage.>>47815465It would actually be 13K now, 14K if he gets Light Heavy arms. That's still terrifying.
>>47815430If Wong forgotten about it, I'd suggest upgrading the Kestral overall crew grade to A. Their senses and skills honed to a keen edge for having the Butcher onboard whipping everyone into shape.
Did we ever decide on what the Rhine-Hawk was going to look like post rebuild?
>>47815450>>47815472Soon, I'm torn between which of two girls should get which of two upgrades.
>>47815490>Flirting with Samantha>Seducing ClemmySo what your telling us is that we need to be trying to stick it in any named girl that we come across, this is a hard road but one I am willing to bear for the sake of my comrades >>47815504Who is the other girl its Fatima isn't it
>>47815496The flagship of the SuperRobotWars something, something. On MSPQ XXXII IIRC.
>>47815496Yup. Seems Wong took a liking to this design in kestrel colors. >>47815490I see. Bit late for me so the math is off in my head.
>>47815490>Flirting with Samantha initially changed a lot in the long run.How would our interactions with her have developed had we not done so?Would we even have any waifus now had we not successfully charmed Sam and Clemmy, apart from Rosita and Karen (who we would likely have to constantly keep away from each other's necks)?
>>47815527Well we have Gretchen but I don't think any of us really want to add her to our harem, plus Fatima who were waiting until the deal goes wrong
>>47815527We have Fatima waiting in the wings when her ransom goes inevitably wrong. Also Gretchen might be another if enough anons want her
>>47815527Fatima's forbidden fruit would likely be all the sweeter. She was actually one of the first NPCs I came up with, although originally she wasn't an ace.Oh, right, the decisively second-most derailing thing you ever did was challenge Oda to a duel. However once you did I knew I had to go with it because that's Oda's samurai way.
Will the fact that we scored a crit seduction on the tv audience become important soon?
>>47815534Why not? Gretchen is cuter than Karen. Also she has a strong influence with the media which we are going to need if we are going to face the combined assault of UJCIDF and the Mars Kaliphate.
>>47815527Oh, and as for Samantha, you likely wouldn't have made some of the inroads into the military that you have. She would still be friendly and reasonable, but distinctly on the side of the law, and Fairchild wouldn't have as many excuses to specifically target you.
>>47815588Why does everyone bully Karen?
>>47815588No ones really has said they wanted to do anything with her and I feel like if we start a relationship with her its bound to get out and thats going to damage any report she does on us>>47815601Because she is worst girl
>>47815594So wait.. by getting Sammy and Clemmy, we have somehow managed to make Fairchild REEEEE like no one has reeee'd before?Did she want to bang Roarke's mom so bad that she staged a accident or is that why she hates Avalon so much?
>>47815601It's not bullying since its true and thus an observation.
>>47815605>worst girlH-how could you say something like that?
>>47813290Very. The problem was, the Green Men on Mars couldn't stop the Solar forces from building bases there or launching attacks from there, and it's a vast treasure trove of metal resources. Being unable to secure the Belt cost the Green Men Mars.
>>47815594Tell us Wong, does Fairchild have any more waifus for us to steal?
>>47815588>Gretchen is cuter than KarenKaren-hating heretics must be purged from the belt. Karen is a good girl who has done nothing wrong.
>>47815619Let's send Fairchild a selfie of us and Clemmy. Her smiling while we get her a peck on the cheeks.
>>47815614Because im honest>>47815627>Done nothing wrong>Nothing WrongRuining Rosita's chances with past Roarke, coming on to an active battlefield, being a womanchild, the list goes on anon
>>47815627>done nothing wrong.Literally a tag along. Like the nephew your mom forces on you to take care of. Again, can't ditch since shes Ozarks' kid.
>>47815588>Gretchen is cuter than Karen.Anon, I'm a faggot and I find your taste rather gay. High up twin tails, chub in the wrong spots, a wide face for man jaws? Such pleb tastes.
>>47815601it's not bullying the other Waifus are simply better
>>47815605How is she anything but the best girl?>loved Roarke the longest>has been devoted to him for a long time>best at sex>T H I C K>produces upgrades>childbearing hips>patient and understanding>best at sex>huge boobs>glasses>cheongsam
>>47815637Everyone makes mistakes! She does it out of love, just like she always has!
>>47815601IMHO, Karen represents the safe choice. Basically, lil sis figure who grows up to be closest waifu. Compared to Sam, Clemmy, Fatima, and Rosita, she's a lil' on the plain sight despite having quite the plot.
>>47815654>best at sex>patient and understanding>best at sexWhy are you lying anon
>>47815647Now now, Anon didn't take the chance to friendzone her and reacted strongly when her smile was threatened.>>47815619There's always her secretary.
>>47815680Do you have a picture of this so called "secretary"
>>47815680Like I said, she was the safe choice in against Samantha before we found out about the other waifus and Wong's go ahead for the harem route.
>>47815678All of those are true.
>>47815654a) Love does not ageb) By proxy due to being a mechanicc) Nah. She a nerd whos only read about sexd) Wut?e) All waifus gave us an upgradef) Bitch isn't patient. She's just a passive aggressive doormat. Understanding? Please. Only Sam and Rosita have that trait.g)Again Nahh)Red has an eye patchi)Red, a mixed, wears it better than some ginger.
Eh I was rooting for sam this whole time and she's pretty much locked in, after sam is clemmy, pretty close there, then comes red, then karen mostly because she comes off as the least colorful of the group, I suppose that could be fixed by spending more time with her.
>>47815671Basically. Sure, you'd always rather have Clemmy having your back in a fight; and sure, Rosita is far more of a high-flyer than she'll ever be; and between Fatima and Gretchen and Sam, you'd be hard-pressed to find a social circle you don't have an in on.But when you're finally returning home, tired from a long day's piracy, the one you really want greeting you with a smile that makes everything worth it is Stern. wait what no i meant to say-
>>47815661It was also fairly safe because she could solidly outrun the First Mate once he ditched his wings and you were there keeping everyone safe. It was selfish, but love is inherently something of a selfish emotion.
>>47815717I would rather go for new waifus or spend time with the rest and only spend the time we need to with her so she doesn't get sad, too bad this isn't persona where I can just finish an s-link and them stop caring about them
>>47815704I wonder how much I derailed for the players by having Karen and Samantha team up.
>>47815712Nice rebuttal. Have some T H I C K and get better taste.
>>47815729You know, thats the thing that interests me. It had both wings and a tail, likely designed for dropping off a heavy load and getting into position, then ditches both once in range of fighting. Also, why do I have a feeling that the female prisoner on the Jaburo was possibly the first mate?
>>47815745Honestly that made me happy, it seemed like karen needed a friend plus their joint operations/support for eachother when it comes to roarke has been cute.
>>47815745First you teamed up Sam and Karen. next you team up Clemmy and Rosita, next thing you now we have a Waifu civil war with a tied up Roarke as the prize
>>47815761Thats a really good guess anon, if only we didn't chicken out against Bruce we might have been able to catch her>>47815771Only the first alliances of many soon our harem will be like a cuter GoT
>>47815777It would likely be a bad idea to go after those two anyways. At least right from the start. Remember, CCC died by her hands. Not her machine. She is not someone we should have risked at the moment.. though she probably did get violated by Bruce.
>>47815728Ah, le olde Freudian Slip. When you say one thing and mean fuck your mother.
>>47815777Still wondering how karen and clemmy will interact, cause as is sam is opposed to clemmy, karen is opposed to red and vice versa but we haven't really gotten any clues about red's reaction to sam or clemmy's to karen.
>>47815712She waited years for Roarke. Years. While on the same ship. Red Siren had a string of affairs during that time and Clemmy might have been fucking Haman.Your waifu a shit.
>>47815798>Red Siren went from one Roarke knock off to another>Haman never managed to seal the dealCome on now anon
>>47815792Opposite side of the ship, Moe recalled Bruce Kelly went against the saboteur
>>47815798Red Siren was beaver-dammed by Karen and Clemmy thought Fairchild as more of as her BFF instead of a lover. Besides,
>>47815798It's kinda funny, usually i'd find karen's story more compelling, plus I tend to prefer her body type anyway, but for some reason she just doesn't elicit the same emotional response as the others, can't quite figure out why though...
>>47815821Red Siren beaver-dammed Karen when she was finally about to get a proper date with Roarke.
>>47815758Again wears it better. Red has a softer smile and probably softer thighs. Clemmy got them firm thighs from all the physical training. Also I wouldn't be able to stop caressing her abs. Karen's just a ginger cow whose plain and homely. Gretchen has cute banters with Roarke and has a cheerful attitude. Sam at least is calm-ish.
Poor Karen, I wish I could do a better job with her if she's so much trouble.
>>47815761>Also, why do I have a feeling that the female prisoner on the Jaburo was possibly the first mate?Yes that is how the facts line up so far>saboteur does shit>escapes in a harpy into auditorium at the same time FM shows up>later a harpy with gutted cockpit is found>FM brags about killing CCC>Doc describes a girl getting into a harpy, after which S-Slayer starts aiming at him escaping in mecha>CCC drags the girl out of the harpy; Slayer stops; CCC gets shanked
>>47815835Honestly its not your fault Wong, the character is how it is some people are bound to like it others aren't. Look at all the characters who you have managed to get people to care about we all love Oda
>>47815835I enjoy Karen And Sam the most. Can give or take the others.
>>47815835That's the thing about mechanics - you hardly ever notice the best ones are there. She gets less notable screentime since she only gets to strut her stuff during combat indirectly, through Roarke.Clearly this means she needs to get her own mech to even the score. :^)
>>47815835Hey all the other characters are really compelling, heck Sam was enough to confirm for me that I like traps, Oda is just absurd fun, Clemmy is a fun mix of sugary joy and bloodlust, Red is a surprisingly sympathetic character and Roarke is just damn cool. Just haven't found something to connect me to karen yet, but I figure something will show up soon.
>>47815842How did she get a Harpy on the Jaburo when it was only missing a Pumpkinseed and Warmouth?
>>47815900she did hug us/KK in a harpy of somesort that one time, wouldn't be too far fetched... wonder if we could make some sort of battlefield repair mech for her. huh that'd give us a monk in roarke, a white mage in karen, a mage in Red, then sam as a rogue and clemmy as a fighter
>>47815835She is kinda overshadowed by the rest of the Harem though. Clemmy and Sam sacrificed their entire careers to be with Roarke. Rosita provided a safe haven, a new flagship, and actually help Roarke against the PR blitz blaming him for Suleiman. And Fatima stands out with her Tsundere and calling Roarke her uncouth wolf pirate.
>>47815923Well, there was that other transport ship. Chances are she got onto the harpy once she transfered over to the first transport. Then the other transport unloaded all those harpies and the Slayer. Slayer makes hole, she flies into the hole, and then controls the Slayer.
Compared to the standard UJCIDF ships how will the upgraded Rhine-Hawk compare? Also we should add some additional ships to our fleet at some point
>>47815923Okay, memory fault on that for me.I'll need to reread the thread for those details.
How long until we find a true pupil to teach the art of Mecha Brawling to and how to talk to girls
>>47816007Teach all our ways to Athena and reverse-trap the shit out of her for the next generation
>>47816068So turn her into Chie?
>>47816068So she can find Not Banagher?
>>47816084Banagher is probably going to be one of our kids most likely ours and Sam's somehow
Is it wrong I don't want to see Fatima cry? She's actually a sweet girl at heart. Gets imprisoned but demands her subjects are treated fairly. Gets made fun of but puts up with it since Moe is A-okay. I hope our little songbird trapped in a cage will be okay.
>>47816134Nothing a little hand holding won't fix
>>47816142And a date inside the Tarrasque? We could have fun shooting some passing asteroids with big ass lasers. We'll teach her space shanties while she teaches us Martian lullabies. Good way to relieve stress for the both of us.
>>47816174We reach for the joystick to shoot an asteroid at the same time, and our fingers touch briefly. How lewd. . The cockpit rises a few degrees in temperature.

>>47816415Yeah. Knew i was missing something. Also, make the new PC the son of Roarke and [waifu of choice] depending on how anons wanna stat him.
>>47816439Then you have all of his half brothers and sisters
>>47816439Picking out one waifu like that will invariably cause so much shit that it'll never work out. The MC will either have to be Moe's kid or Caesar's. Roarke's children will be the options for waifus/husbandos.
>>47816456Not necessarily. The ones he didn't choose would then become NPCs on their own.
>>47816462Poor Athena, she probably going to be stuck playing babysitter for all her teen years
>>47816472You make it sound like a bad thing, I'm sure we could pay her for her time if it comes down to it. Then she wouldn't be "playing" babysitter
>>47816512It might be when she has to take care of like 15 kids
>>47816519man that's like 3.75 kids per waifu. over what time span are talking about here? and if that's case why don't we open a daycare just for Roarkes kids

>>47821271An idle question. How would one stat the Unicorn? Turbocharger, or some sort of Transformation?
>>47822707The unicorn could work with a super charger, but the problem is it's limit. I'd say it would be more suited for a trans-am proxy at that point. Could also work with command armor. Purging it would make the machine faster and more mobile as well. ACE systems for it's computer could also work since it increases the maneuver pool pretty fast.
