Alright lads, let's go get that poster signed.
And I need to make a quick emergency drive. I'll be able to get us started in earnest when I'm there, about twenty minutes. I knew I started us early for a reason (although it proves I really do have terrible luck). On the plus side, both the S-Swordtail and the Master Harpy Rick Variant are done, although I have to finish calculating the cost and weight of the Harpy.
So what's keeping us from giving the Kaiser superheavy arm servos?
>>47394153Can't attach servos more than 2 size categories higher than the Torso, which restricts us to Medium Heavy unless I'm mistaken. Weight is also a factor with higher cost servos and weapons - add too much tonnage and your mech won't be able to move.
>>47394153The cost? Also >>47394211
Right then. Our mission is to get to the base and establish contact. Chances are there are people who are going get in our way or outright kill us. We might have to do some sacrifices and risky plays but our main goal should be getting all three of us there. The mission succeeds then and there. Even if we have to ditch the two suits with us, take their enviro pods and use the King Swordfish's higher speed to boost that much faster, or throwing our lance at them, we must survive.
>>47394211I can't find this rule anywhere in the books. In both the core book and advanced technical manual it just says what arm servos do, not any limitations on them. Leg servos have a limitation, though. As for weight, buy some weight efficiency and voila.
>>47394301Check the Torso description. Also, I was indeed mistaken. It's a maximum of one size category larger, which means Light Heavy at most.
>>47394260Couldn't we just swamp them with our superior numbers and fire power? As long as we are in the front its not like they can afford to ignore us and hit the scrubs.
>>47394026More like Mecha Space Pirate Hunter Quest naow. When are we getting back to the true hero of this story
>>47394260>>47394320I'm confused. Wasn't this supposed to be a hostage negotiation mission?
>>47394344I am assuming that dude is planing for a double cross. Either from the pirates or the military.
>>47394314So it does. Alright, so we need to upgrade the torso to medium weight to get light heavy arms and that +2 bonus to damage.
It is supposed to be a hostage negotiation mission! If I recall from previous thread, the idea was to;1) Avoid meeting near Auditorium because of General Fairy's possible hidden agenda to seize remote control of the Jaburo and autopilot it into Auditorium via Sleeper agent/Rogue A.I/Drugged Madman2) Broadcast and ask for a parley with offers of cash for sam back, and if possible her mech. That aside, someone did say try not to get Naomi killed, or Caesar might become the biggest villian.(Please don't get her killed guys! I really like the lighthearted romance.)
>>47394344Could turn ugly real fast cuz Not!Bane is still with the Green Skulls and Fairy has everg intention of screwing over Roarke
>>47394320Do not assume that superior numbers are on our side. Their flagship is the most dangerous of the bunch and can likely wreck the Jaburo. Not only that, but our crew is green. VERY green. If people start dying, moral will be broken easily and if Green Mask shows up with A class crew.. then no matter what they have all they will be is free suits and slaves. We cannot negotiate anything if dead and chances are they will try to take the prototypes and king swordfish from our husks. In a way, creating peace talks with the nicer pirates against the green skulls would bea good thing for the military.. if Fairchild wasn't a evil manipulator.
>>47394377Or, we could acquire a Remote Control System as we were intending to, and bypass the size limitation by not actually having the servos linked to our Torso.Though I'm not sure that Remote Control is generally worthwhile, given how prohibitively expensive it is to build even one additional mech for a drone in addition to your existing one.Why is making cost-effective mechs so difficult in this system?
>>47394438Their flagship is shit compared to our flagship and our green crew is still in much, much better mechs. Their crew is only one grade better than ours and I know that while that does make a big difference I dont think it makes enough of a difference to mitigate the fact that most of their guys are in the equivalent of jeeps with guns bolted to the back.
>>47394451The remote system isn't an either/or in this case. More space in the torso and arms just makes it easier to fit in.We could really use verniers. +1 isn't too prohibitively expensive and makes all our mech rolls better. Our CP cap is 350, right? As for costs, it's because the designers thought that 6000cp mechs were ok.
>>47394436I thought we blew up not!bane?
>>47394522>flagship is shit compared to our flagship25% more kills25% more armor500% more damage on its forward cannons.
>>47394553Confirmed by the guy running the show to be enough to body the rhinehawk and the yamato at the same time.
>>47394543That was fake!Bane. Not!Bane is the 3rd member of SOUL-B
>>47394590Oh. Have we seen them yet?
>>47394553Forward cannons also have 4000m more range. And since it moves the same speed it can just get in range and blast the ship while constantly staying out of range of retaliation.
>>47394577That was the Rhinehawk and yamato. Both were relatively small. The Green skull flag ship however is much bigger. You are also assuming that the flagship crew of war hardened vetrans are Bs and consisting only of harpies. We have seen otherwise when they pulled out the morgan and the like.Even then, the sheer maneuver gap between them and their enemies +12 will make things rather hard to hit. Remember, a gap of 5 is a pretty big chasm in this game. Anything more makes it damn hard for the rookie to succeed.
>>47394654I was talking about fighting the pirates we know for sure are there.
>>47394530Ooh, and we're using 36 cp in shields right now. If we get an anti-ranged reactive shield that stops ranged attacks we could get the highest level (stops 15 kills without ablation) for less cost.
>>47394686And looking at the scaling chapter, it should be theoretically possible to create starship-scale weapons that a mech can use. It'll just cost an absolutely ludicrous amount.
Your stomach handles a jump better than most people's. You're lucky that way, and for once you don't have your dad to thank, he's admitted to you before that he hates space travel in all of its many forms.Lieutenant Blanchett's S-Swordtail is a magnificent, towering machine, scarlet with black framework. It resembles, heavily, a Greek colossus, complete with a massive bladed Corinthian crest and a T-shaped slit in its impassively blank face. When active, two gleaming points of scarlet appear in the T. It has clawed fingers (decorative, not functional), and a pair of beam axes slung across its back in an X shape, resembling khopesh-shaped metal rods without the plasma projectors turned on. It has a pair of massive, TROMBE-pattern pauldrons that resemble small shields, although you know for a fact that they aren't meant for blocking and contain packets of missiles. It also has a jointed, scorpion-like tail, ending in a flattened kite-shaped plate.Naomi's is shorter and, frankly, cuter. It's bright purple, trimmed in gold. The gold facemask in the rounded purple head with three bright purple eyes reminds you a little of a three-eyed version of one of those old Terran monkeys called gibbons. It has a pair of beam pistols at its waist, and a large protruding knob on the back holding the plasma screen projector.Of the three, the tallest is the mighty King Swordfish Mk. II, resplendent in its asymmetrical black and white stripes with its proud alicorn horn and spiral lance. The three mecha have been polished to a shine, and as you prepare to set off the Colonel personally leads the departure salute."Warriors of SOUL, be brave, be persistent, be full of spirit! The mighty bolts of Jove smite your enemies! The lion skin of Hercules protect you! Go forth, and return in victory!"[Continued]
It would help if my post hadn't somehow got eaten twice.
>>47394686Are you including the some 34 spaces it'll take to install that shield (or more, if weight is determined before cost scaling).
>>47394686If you stat it, Karen can build it.
>>47394808>TROMBE-pattern pauldrons..We must save this man and his suit. His sound system could possibly over ride ANYTHING.
>>47394844Even if 'it' costs in excess of 400 CP, is horrendously ineffective, is an 'Oid and/or has a Remote Control System for no reason other than to ineffectually dropkick a faggot 8 times per turn?
>>47394880>he just plays one song on a loophttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnnbLMCZAXc
"Pierre Blanchett, S-Swordtail, LAUNCH!""Naomi Heim, S-Puffer, LAUNCH!""Heinrich Merrow, King Swordfish Mk. II, LAUNCH!"The three of you exit the catapults as a single unit. The twelve huge thrusters set into a pair of large, spiral-shaped nacelles dangling over your shoulders and down your back lift perpendicular to your spine, spinning rapidly as they fire up. Icy blue light traces your path through the stars, along with the scarlet of the S-Swordfish and bright yellow of the S-Puffer.You're pleased to see that the Colonel took your advice about wide-ranging patrols. Although they don't get in your way, a lot of Bluegills and Pumpkinseeds with the occasional missile-bearing Palomino or larger Warmouth and Morgan II are visible as you look around. Ahead of you, several kilometers distant, Auditorium glows with scarlet neon light and images of Red Siren's smiling face. Like a huge, metallic cigar slowly rotating in space, the whorl of silver and red is almost hypnotic. You never really expected to come here, but here you are, and you're actually being relied on for once. The pressure is intense."Merrow, slow down, don't pull ahead of us." The Lieutenant calls out, not ungently, over the comms. "Speaking of which, comms check!""Check!" You respond promptly."Check!" Naomi laughs. You glance down as you leave the protective shroud of the Jaburo's guns and patrols. There are plenty of Harpies in the vicinity of Auditorium, but they're giving you a wide berth and staying close to the colony. So, it's rather notable when a bay opens and a trio of machines exit, coming directly towards you.[Continued]
>>47395011Prepare to drop the spaghetti
>>47395011slow down, shown no aggressive attitude.
>>47395024Spaghetti droppage is for when we arent in our death robot.
>>47395011..Keep calm, make sure we can figure out who these guys are. Because if they are fakers, we could be in trouble.
>>47394830Ah, good point. I'm a bit confused by our stat block looking over it now, though. If the shields we had were standard, they should take 1 slot but only cost 12cp. if they were active, they should take 9 slots and cost 18 cp. But lets see, we have 7 space to work with, so we need to drop 27 size, which would be 13.5 additional SP. Total cost would be 34+13.5=47.5, or 11.5 more than we currently spend on shields. Anything that does 15 kills or less of ranged damage would just bounce off.Stat line would be something like Reactive Anti-range mega heavy shield (15SP, 47.5CP, 7S, 7.5T) And it'd be spread through both arms and the head.
Remember Roarke likes to take trophies off of worthy opponents
>>47395193So if it comes down to fighting we take Caesar's horn?
>>47395193Didn't we only do that to Zangief, though?
Man you know they aren't giving the Sergeant back. If they do there is nothing stopping us from blasting them! Give the pirates a little credit, they aren't -that- stupid.
>>47395193..So mention the trophy of his crest. If he doesn't respond or tease then something is off.
>>47395236We took the Bosun's mask, besides them no one has really been worthy
>>47395237There is our good word. If we just shoot people right after we get prisoners back we wont see many prisoners coming back to us alive.
>>47395264The fact that a government is negotiating with pirates at all is strange.
>>47395280Pirates getting hands on advanced military cloaking technology is a pretty strange situation.
>>47395236Thats the point. We did it only to zangief. If they are trying to frame us, masquerading as Roarke, then we can counter them and break off.>>47395280Not that strange negotiations have always been a thing. Even bandits understand its sometimes better to cut losses.
>>47395280Especially with General Fairchild running the show.
>>47395305How are people going to masquerade roarke? We saw them come out of the station. The one roarke is still on. People would know fairly sharpish what was going on.
Since yours is the one with the ASP, you enlarge your sensor screens. That...that is a rather large number of highly illegal CIWS turrets installed on Auditorium. You slow down, and your squadmates do the same.A voice crackles over the comms, "Yo, unidentified mecha. This is First Mate Miles Longshadow of the Iron Kestrels. ID yourselves for the sake of formality and state your purpose here. You're too fucking close to our bay and we don't like the look of that battleship you've got, so keep your distance." Closer up, it's an awkward looking black and silver saucer flanked by an ungainly looking jet and a more elegant, bladelike jet.As one, they transform into their humanoid form. The one in the rear with the big cannon still looks pretty awkward."...Should we not be more polite, leader?" Inquires a softly masculine voice from the most refined-looking of the three. You can only assume they're some kind of big Harpies."They're the fucking UJCIDF, they don't have feelings." The leader responds. You hear a sigh over the comms, "This is Lieutenant Pierre Blanchett of SOUL Squad A. We're here to negotiate the release of Corporal Samantha Blanchett. Please inform your captain tha-""HEY. You think I'm joking, or are you trying to be cool, silent types? I only like that shit when it comes from my boyfriend, so you'd better tell me why you're here before I get angry." The leader's sniper rifle gesticulates angrily at the three of you, "Who's in charge? Is it you, Caution Stripes? Maybe the pink one? Or is it big red? We've got a headpiece like that in our bar, I wouldn't mind making it twice as big if you shitheads don't start talking NOW!">[What do?]
>>47395264You think the LT is going to be content to let these guys go after they beat him up and kidnapped his sister?Pft.
>>47395358He is going to do what he is told because he is a soldier and not a goddamn teenager who fell into a mech.
>>47395353oh shit, they cut out our comms? should we get out of the mechs to show we arent dangerous?
By the way, the Master Harpy Rick Variant is up on the pastebin. Someone was dissatisfied with missiles in an earlier thread because they're usually shaped charges rather than having a big, explosive radius. Richard Thorslund's Gungnir launcher, however, does not have that limitation....and neither does the S-Swordtail, whose stats are forthcoming. I'm still working on Naomi's S-Puffer, I've had to redo it more than once.
>>47395353Have everyone in the squad try to contact the pirates. If that fails, try to relay comms through the battleship. Put out one hand in a stopping motion while we figure things out. Maybe tap our head in the ear area?
>>47395353Raise our hands in a placating manner, they try to hail them. If nothing works, we gesture talking with our hand and then shrug.Hope for the best.
>>47395353Pantomime time motherfuckers.
>>47395353damnit Miles, why would we let her be in charge of something like this. If anything I would use Richard.

>>47395353haha what who even take ECW mangRaise hands in a sign of non-hostility, and start Morse Coding with our spotlight. Hopefully one of them knows Morse.
>>47395353If our comms are cut, put up our hands in a sign of not wanting to fight. Thats the important thing. Any sign language could work as well. Mo likely knows some military signs for 'comms dead'.
>>47395435Probably because she is our second in command.
>>47395397>>47395423>>47395426Either use Morse like anon says >>47395448or step out of the suit and float up to our mechs comms and point at it.
>>47395476Stepping out of your mech while there are multiple pirates in gun range is probably the dumbest idea i've ever heard.
>>47395353Well then. What are the chances of simultaneous failure of the same system on three different mechs fresh out of maintenance?See if we can blink our mech's eye light in Morse code. And start squawking lost comms on whatever passes for a transponder in this universe.
>>47395353Well, since we heard the LT go out on comms we at least have some functionality. There should be a universal guard or distress frequency we can try to contact them on.
>>47395489they'll be too bamboozeled at a guy getting out of his mech to do anything for a turn at least
Damn, missiles, Roarke's only weakness.
>>47395490WAIT, is it possible to use that blue gil joe game's email system to contact miles and send a message that way? Could work. Should be able to tell by the banter and name she's that miles person.
>>47395563Caesar has no idea these pirates are the people he's played against.
>>47395575Names, attitude and Int10 man. It's pretty easy to tell and obvious even to us. He's got genius int. Right now anything that can avoid someone doing something stupid is better than nothing.
>>47395631They did not use names, we have had all of one line to discover their attitude and int10 isn't magic.
>>47395676>"Yo, unidentified mecha. This is First Mate Miles Longshadow of the Iron Kestrels. ID yourselves for the sake of formality and state your purpose here. You're too fucking close to our bay and we don't like the look of that battleship you've got, so keep your distance."That sounds like a name to me and she was the one who was the loudest against us.
>>47395728Pirates shit talking you isnt exactly a stand out characteristic.
>>47395728there are shitloads of miles in the universe, dude chances are (IC) that the player named mileshighclub and this miles are the same user are very low.
>>47395752>yfw it actually wasn't her and Wong is just rusing us
>>47395752Well its better to try than not. Speaking of, we need to make sure we can contact the Jaburo as well and make sure the rookies don't do something stupid. Anything to prevent a full scale battle at a enemy fortress.
>>47395792dude, it was something that happened about a week ago. and it was a game. the other options are way more reasonable than this one.
>>47395805Well, except for getting out of our mech. That one is more insane than this plan.
>>47395792Saying hi to everyone you ever meet on the off chance they're actually some faggot you know online isn't exactly normal behavior, especially when in a tense standoff compounded by technical issues of questionable origin.
"Hey, pirate." It's a breach of protocol for you to address an enemy without authorization, but there might really be something wrong with the Lieutenant's comms."I AM DEAD SERIOUS YOU BASTARDS! I need parts for a better railgun, and I'll take it out of your hides if you cross me." That big rifle is pointing dead on at Naomi. You don't like that. You don't like that one little bit. You like the big missile boat's huge launcher even less."LT, what's going on? Our comms are working, aren't they?" Naomi calls out."Ally frequency is." The LT chips in.You begin flashing your spotlight in morse code at the pirates, they stare at you."He's flashing me right in my eyes, Rick. He wants to die. He wants me to shoot him." Miles' gun swivels around towards you. You have your finger on the trigger of your lance. She's about five hundred meters away, you could reach her."Please, I think he is speaking Morse code." The smallest of the big Harpies pushes the First Mate's gun away."Well I don't speak no fucking Morse code. How do I tell 'em to surrender?" She sounds quite sulky.[Continued]
>>47395828I have no idea if coms in space are radio based, but if they are and ally comms are working, can we change the frequency of our ally comms to some universal broadcast band and turn off encryption?
>>47395828goddammit, why of all people they send miles as the squad leader to deal with this?
>>47395878Because she's the first mate. You know, second highest authority on board the ship?
>>47395828Thank god, communicate the problem and have the other two start communicating with the ship and rookies. We need to be on our toes if a squad doesn't report in.
>>47395867i think that those frequencies are disabled or blocked. supposing everything is digital, that is quiet easy.
>>47395878Because she is the second highest ranking person in our organization I would guess.
>>47395905>>47395896oh. that makes sense.
>>47395878It could be worse. It could be Oda.
>>47395900Not if it somehow doesn't interfere with ally communications. I'm not even sure how you could do that. It'd be a painfully complex program to write.
As usual posting our mixtapes if anons want we can make one for one of the other characters as a gifthttps://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6iimHE85EZZZjRoaWVwQ3U2ZFk
>>47395957i'm no programmer, but would be just something along the lines of: lock output and input from frequency X to frequency Y ?
>>47395993That is what we desire.
>>47396021And if the pilots switched to those frequencies? You have to set up the system such that it looks as working to checks.
>>47395957What if it just automatically sets all communications to Ally-Only? We can hear our squadmates just fine.
>>47396070Right, but how could it do that. It has to emit something to make communications possible. Whatever it emits could be detected by people who aren't allies.
>>47396097Same way they get giant robots to defy physics I guess, future science.
>>47396027Alright who then?
>>47396097I'm sure they could. If they had some sort of advanced sensor suite - which they, in particular, don't.
>>47396161I say Clemmy first and than Naomi and Roarke's brother last.
>>47396232What, no love for our other waifus? What's she listening to, /tg/?
>>47396265Enya. The super mellow tracks, too.
>>47396265Roarke saying my special girl on repeat
>>47396232We have to know their musical tastes, or at least have Wong tell us
You send out a basic SOS. You're college-educated and a genius, you know how to do that. The Martian's machine floats closer to yours. It has...well, that's worrying. Those are beam sabers. Crude beam sabers, but still definitely beam sabers. This shouldn't be. Beam weapons are a new technology the Terrans have shared with the UJCIDF as part of the SSL's Joint Forces experiments. You wonder if he's somebody important, and where exactly he stole them from. You tap the side of your head with your fists. He shrugs at you. You spell out S-A-M. He shrugs again, "Can you hear me, effendi?" He does have a thick Martian accent, but you're fairly sure effendi isn't an insult. You make the Swordfish nod. He gestures towards the colony, "Your machines are for trade, then? Splendid, but...I do not know if she is for sale. A woman goes where she will, this is known.">[Wait a second...]
>>47396487Fucking Moe spilling the beans
>>47396487Well they are letting us in, probably better to do this in person anyway, but would be a good idea to leave someone to keep watch on the ship.
>>47396487Keep it calm. Slowly do C.O.M D.O.W.N. Hopefully this can explain why we can't talk. We CANNOT jump to conclusions or let our heads get hot or we will screw this up.
>>47396487>tfw the only person with a reasonable level of Cool on the Rhinehawk aside from Roarke is Dr. CohenWe should hope he is just back at speaking whatever the fuck language this is called and not that Sam is a traitor. And follow him back. Let LT Blanchett know about that slip, though.
>>47396551Thats an awful idea you ninny. we arent going anywhere on our own.
>>47396487Spell out something like MEET IN 2 HOURS AGAIN and head back to the ship, our comms being down is deeply troubling.
>>47396562yes, lets take it slowly i'd pretty much like that the only casualty was the general desk because she forgot to not apply to much force on it.
>>47396612Truly the saddest part of this quest
Just to clarify, you have to decide whether you want to enter this mech bay or not. You know exactly what the Iron Kestrels are going to do with three new Medium Weight mechs.
>>47396612Make sure to double check ALL systems as well for all three things. If comms are off, then there may be something else just incase.
>>47396630The Roarke side of me wants us to go in but the Caesar side doesn't
>>47396630Don't go into the bay. We now know our comms don't work. What else won't work when we need it to? The mechs need to be checked out before we do this.
>>47396630This may be for the best with the chance to actually get things talked about in person. The jaburo did say they would be there to keep an eye out. Just got to play it cool and explain things diplomatically.
>>47396630spell to them that we'll meet later after we fix whatever the hell happened to our mechs, like these anons said>>47396601>>47396562
>>47396630Morse to him if he actually knows Morse. If he doesn't give any response, assume not; then gesture for him to wait a while while we attempt to jury rig the our IFF system to recognize him temporarily as an ally and see if that lets us comms him.If that still doesn't work, there's nothing we can do other than pull back for repairs.
>>47396630Hell no that is a terrible idea.
>>47396705This and have ALL of the scouts and patrols triple check their systems as well.
>>47396764Well what else can we do? If comms aren't working then the other options are go negotiate in person or use Morse for the entire thing.>>47396766And Hell have the Jaburo make rundown of it's system as well.
>>47396766Yeah, our sensors are probably fucked too. Someone's probably flying right next to the jaburo with a big fucking bomb and we have no idea they're there.
>>47396810One of our machines might have a bomb in them. Would be a tragedy that would rile up both sides. Especially if its our girlfriend or the son of the great war hero.
>>47396802>>47396764we could do this. or give them one of our allied channels to communicate propperly. yes, its an stupid idea, but is better than nothing.
>>47396863Or we could, you know, just go back to the ship and look at what the problem is. By far the craziest plan thrown out there.
>>47396810Yea probably good idea to REPORT THIS major malfunction to Maid lady and have her make a patrol come check the ship over from the outside.
>>47396802>>47396863We could fuck off back to our ship and get the problem fixed.
>>47396898Unless the mech has an actual cockpit that the pilots can look out of, the video feed can still be tampered with.
Might as well tell them we think something funny might be up and to watch out
You shake your head. He cocks his to one side. You're trying to size up the amount of damage he could do to your mech if he doesn't like your answer, and you suspect he's doing the same. His is lighter, yours has more powerful. You morse out N-O with your spotlight, tap your head again, and point back at your ship."This is difficult. I would raise the Admiral over comms for you, but he is...otherwise engaged. He is a busy man. Are you determined not to accept our hospitality?">[Are you?]
>>47396939Well that's just asking for a fight. Tell him no again. If he pushes the issue paste him.
>>47396939Attempt to spell out BRB in Morse and point at ship and then motion to your mech comm's
>>47396939Tell him we think something funny is going on and were gonna go back to our ship to make sure every thing is alright and they should be on guard
>>47396959Dude, we don't want to start shit. And Mohammad would probably have a good chance against Caesar.
>>47396939Lets morse out BRB and fix this "Small" malfunction, Then have a patrol do a visual inspection of the ship looking for Anything out of the norm.
>>47396994You possibly don't want to start shit. The pirates have so far not exactly gotten on caesar's good side.
>>47397019Generally killing the only guy you can communicate with is a poor way to start negotiations.
>>47397066If said guy tries to kill you, he's stopped trying to communicate.
>>47397082And if we destroy the negotiators they might just slit the hostages throat and be done with it and try to kidnap you three
>>47397082He hasn't tried to do anything yet.
That being said, you could morse them the commo frequency your squad is using, seeing as your squads mechs have their frequency settings locked into one setting.
>>47397104And then they get their colony overrun by the giant battleship still sitting outside.
>>47397015This is the best possible thing we can do right now. That is unless Fairchild posted a group of Spec-OPS to take over the Jaburo in case things don't go according to her plan.
>>47397119And if they knew they were going to lose they might just kill her to spite the team and make their mission a failure
>>47397119And nobody gets what they want. Or we could cool our fucking jets and try to fix a problem first.
>>47397131>yfw all the green crew are fairchidl's private Spec Ops
>>47397159So they're going to kill her twice now? As expected of a retarded namefag, so incisive.
Pretty sure this is the general's doing. Pulling off a tech whose loyalties are to you, putting you with a leader who has very good reasons to go nuts and murder roarke and the only back up a fresh-faced cadet. Not to mention your new POSSIBLY-INSANE C.O has been handed a battleship of 'patriotic sentimental' value...And the nail in the coffin, if Caesar dies, GUESS WHOSE DADDY IS COMING OUT OF RETIREMENT TO MURDER ROARKE
>>47397176Dude you are the one that said to try kill Moe if got closer. Beside we all know that no one is going to kill Sam. Well WE know, not Caesar.
>>47397205Yes, thank you for reiterating what everyone already knew.
wait are we being serious right now or are we just acting?
>>47397176Alright my mistake but my point still stands if we attack they might kill the hostage since they know that were going to take her by force
>>47397205>And the nail in the coffin, if Caesar dies, GUESS WHOSE DADDY IS COMING OUT OF RETIREMENT TO MURDER ROARKEdon't be so negative. maybe he kills himself from guilt.
>>47397223It's puts everything into a nice perspective for what may come if (when) something happens.
>>47397253...that everyone already had. Or are you trying to say your post was the first on this matter?
>>47397230Why would we kill Sam again? I mean I'm not seeing it happen.OKAY, I THINK WE ARE ALL GETTING CONFUSED HERE.
>>47397270I didn't post that post, just saying always need to keep a picture of possible outcomes in mind.
>>47397288not us, but the pirates. but on that same logic, killing her would only mean we have more reasons to rain hell down on the auditorium. so i don't think they will.
It's been getting progressively more autistic in here. And not the fun way with numbers and statistics.
>>47397288Here's what's happening: A pirate is getting pushy about putting our mechs in a compromising position after stating he thought we were going to sell them for the hostage, that he's also insinuated is not a hostage. So yes, if he forces the issue and says enter the bay or else, we paste him.
>>47397288We dont know that we haven't actually kidnapped sam.>>47397322They definitely wont if we dont start killing their guys for no reason.
>>47397337Then you should leave. Autism -1.
>>47397342no, we don't. we retreat defensibly towards our ship. but if we retaliate things will definitely will get ugly.
>>47397322I still think we're getting confused here. Remember we want this situation to come out in Roarke's favor.>>47397342Why do you to kill Moe so much man? We here to negotiate and we really can't do that with the problems we have right now.
You morse out B-R-B and gesture emphatically at the ship while both Naomi and the Lieutenant yell out advice, mostly about what to spell out that you're ignoring. The Lieutenant's is primarily variations on "GIVE MY SISTER BACK OR WE'LL SMEAR YOU ACROSS SPACE", and Naomi is saying that she could tear them apart without anyone's help. The three Master Harpies retreat slightly. The saucer-shaped one, Miles, taps its big gun impatiently against its shoulder, "Is he surrendering?" She sounds disappointed. The bladelike one, the Martian, shakes its head, "Their comm units are somehow damaged and they cannot negotiate effectively.""So, they aren't surrendering? How many mecha can we get out here in a hurry?" Miles' mech scratches her head.Mohammed shakes his head, "Not enough, this is fine. Besides, they want to talk. The Admiral would want them to go back to their ship, fix their comms, and return...at which time he should be done with...""Yare yare da ze~ Kouhai, we outnumber them. That pink and gold one would look much better with a proper samurai's crest." A new voice appears on the comms."So why are you telling them that?" The previously silent, awkward-looking one glances at the newcomer, a heavily modified Morgan 2 leveling an autocannon at the three of you."Because the way of the warrior is honorable. They know what we do. Odds are good these are their three best mecha.">[Advise attack]>[Advise retreat]
>>47397397OH GODDAMN IT WONG!!!! WHY IS THERE A SPACE MARISA?!!!!!And >[Advise retreat]
>>47397397>[Advise attack]This is what you get for trying to negotiate with pirates. Should've just blown them all up to start with.
>>47397397>[Advise retreat]Were here to negotiate not fight, besides they might have an ace in the hole we don't know about if their acting so cocky
>>47397397>>[Advise retreat]fuck them and their small talk. we fix our comms before something stupid happens.
>>47397397>>[Advise retreat]At this exact moment they outnumber us in this small area.
>>47397433why the fuck do you want to kill them dude? we're here to rescue sam, not fight.
>>47397433Nigga is this your first time reading this quest or something?
>>47397397Hows about we buzz our CO to release all our mechs from our ship and give as emphatic a "really" gesture towards them as possible in a robot?Even if it doesn't work we want them out anyway at this point.
>>47397397>[Advise retreat]Thats oda . RUN
>>47397463Just relax, he's fresh off of GYchan but he never visited the more unsavory boards that actual pirates frequent.
>>47397433you must be new here.
>>47397397 >[Advise retreat]Defensive withdrawal. Do not show your back and move slowly away. We know about Oda's machine so we should know about it at least. Make sure no shots are fired.
>>47397481No I don't think so. Wong did say that Oda re-released the entire Touhou series for free so a Space Marisa is not an impossibility.
Yeaa...I second that, that's Oda. The man who fought Roarke to a standstill, the craziest badass weeabo money cash cow pirate samurai-chan.
>>47397517if we know about oda's machine (and hopefully oda) can we bow to him before we leave? to show we're peaceful or something.
>>47397545That might be a good idea. Maybe a space dogeza to show how sorry we are. Then withdraw.
>>47397397>[Advise Retreat]The Swordfish will hold the line until the others are a safe distance, as I figure we have the best chance of holding our own here, if only for a limited time
>>47397575>dogezai think that's too much.
>>47397586The important thing is he recognizes the bow as one of apology and also of someone who understands his culture. It would allow us to defuse the situation slightly.
You recognize that distinctive aesthetic. Holy shit you have a model of his mech. You have it posed being uppercutted by the King Swordfish Mk I, your dad's mech, on your desk. "Come on, Pierre, Caesar, let's go before this gets ugly." Naomi's mech puts its hand on the Swordfish Mk. II's shoulder."Captain Oda, sir, we cannot...""NO! I AGREE!" Bellows the Morgan II. "He has shown the stance of a fellow bushi, and his mech...I recognize that profile and the mighty Tonbo-Giri it wields. Mohammed-kun, you are right, it would be dishonorable to ambush them."Somehow, Mohammed's Harpy manages to look relieved...until the Osano-Wo tosses its autocannon to him and draws a pair of swords from scabbards at its waist. Their edges glow with a thin plasma coating, "Stripes-kun, do you desire to face me in a duel? I dislike waiting, and I have gotten bored enjoying peerless scenery and S-Pop. If you lose, you shall be our captive. If you win, you may have Mohammed. What say you?" He poses dramatically on the hull of his ship, pointing directly at your mech.>[What say you?]
>>47397778>Tell him we agree but after we fix our coms Also try and tell them we think something funny is going on and they should be on the look out
>>47397778We dont really want him. Thanks for the offer though.
>>47397778>squeak like a fanboyyou are enjoying this wong, aren't you?
>>47397778>Tell him we agree but after we fix our comms probably the best thing we can do right now. Let's face it if Oda wants to fight there's nothing we can do to stop him.
>>47397778>Tell him we agree but after we fix our coms
>>47397778I love how it's the teenage Martian boy that wants to become Gundam that's the sanest person on Roarke's crew. Except maybe Avi.
>>47397778M.U.S.T. P.R.E.P.A.R.E2 H.O.U.R.SUse it to as context to get our coms fixed. If Moe is smart he should catch on and help. After all, for a fight both sides must be at their best and the conditions right. That is the way of bushido.
>>47397778The fuck are we supposed to say, we don't have comms.
>>47397809>>47397870>>47397855Ah, so nodding and morse code?

OKAY!! Let's take a vote here. Who thinks that the Green Skulls are going to attack and attempt to wipe out both of us? And who thinks the General has planted something on either our mechs or the Jaburo that will destroy either for a reason to attack California?
>>47398075I think the last Aussie broke free and is tearing the ship apart on the inside.
>>47398075me, but i don't think the skulls will wipe us. i'm pretty sure we will have to team up with the pirates and drive them off. and as for the other sentence... i hope not.
>>47398106Either case we need to get back on ship and do a look over if there is anything odd other than our systems. The other two should know their machines enough for field repairs and what could go wrong. Treat it like an emergency repair check up. Anything that screams TRAP, goes and is disabled if possible.
>>47398095Wasn't the Aussie on the General's ship heading to Jupiter?
>>47398075The fact that we can hear them and they can hear us must mean that our comms have been encrypted without our knowledge to make us seem more aggressive than we really are. Someone is banking on a confrontation and it isnt us.
>>47398075General had our comms sabotaged. She figured the pirates we were negotiating with were volatile and would attack, or that the Lieutenant would become frustrated over not getting his sister and attack. Either way, we probably wouldn't survive the battle. One inconvenient-by-bloodline Lieutenant, one nerd, and one inconsequential medic, all dead. She has had the whole thing recorded from the carrier, which sees an attack, providing all the excuse needed to move in and wipe out both pirate groups, regardless of hostages. That footage goes on air, and public opinion turns against all the pirates, even Red Siren. The General gets carte blanche to do what she likes, with her sociopathic and utterly obedient Squad B. Its an ok plan. The only way it could be BETTER...is if the same sabotage that cut the comms could rig the weapons to all cut loose at once. Especially with the missile packs...which may or may not either target an enemy mech, or just have friend-or-foe homers.....
>>47398179no, they can't hear us. from where you get that?
>>47398148They put him on this one so he could die with it.That was the plan all along. We were just secondary casualties.
>>47398206I think he meant can't
Holy shit, it's Oda Yoritomo. This is incredibly stupid but it's a chance to duel with someone you view as a pretty good pilot.M-U-S-T-P-R-E-P-A-R-E2 H-O-U-R-SYou flash your lights at him, and the Martian one translates, before adding, "I do not agree in any way, shape or form with this.""YOU MUST LEARN FROM YOUR SENSEI. Protesting isn't kawaii, a warrior can only fight at his utmost when he fully dattebayos. I believe in myself, Mohammed-kun, and I want a resin model of my favorite mech from my childhood. As my student, you are essentially my foster-child. Therefore, it is my right to make these decisions for you...or course, you could always fight yourself. You will never grow strong without conflict, a bushi's technique only grows through conflict."While they're arguing, you and Naomi and Pierre zip out of there. You're sure the Master Harpies could catch up, but they don't seem very enthusiastic and the man you presume to be the Captain of the Storm Dragons is gesticulating at them with his swords. For your sanity, you turn off the comms...and get back to the Jaburo as quickly as possible. The Lieutenant spends several terse moments on his PC talking with the Colonel once you return to your ship, then looks up at you, "Good news, Ensigns. She issued an immediate order to check the logs on the mech bay. Apparently, she spent the morning before launch making sure that proper paperwork and login procedures are filled out anytime anyone works on a mech. It's not normally a requirement on a Wels, but the Arapaima she had before was a bit bigger."An Arapaima is, indeed, a bit bigger. You've never seen one, but they're massive production and science ships, mostly assigned to the extrasolar forces. Military vessels, of course, but not quite the dedicated hammers of the UJCIDF fleet that a Wels is. Their biggest strength is that they can carry and field a massive number of mecha at once, and carry huge numbers of people.[Continued]
>>47398249looks like we got a paper trail boys. Time to send the security teams hunting.
>>47398249Wait, are you saying military bureaucracy and red tape was actually a good thing for once?huh
>>47398249If the crew of the ship figure out that Hamon sent them on a suicide mission to further her own plans do you think Roarke would be able to convince them to turn on the Navy?
>>47398343Maybe some of them. Doubt we would get the ship or mechs though.
>>47398319Every once in a while, things work well. Also, if we get her and Doctor Zam, we need to get a bald old man, a strict businessman with a thing for order and proper codes, and a friendly, charasmatic pilot who could become a good friend and leader. Also 3 hicks, a blonde kid with a love of burgers, and another guy with a mustache who likes blue.
>>47398375Thats most likely what would happen but mechanically Roarke's pretty hard to resist a persuasion roll considering his bonus especially if he rolls a ten and adds luck points into it
>>47398343Better to make them informants than straight defection. The General would probably send whoever destroyed Suleiman to end us.
>>47398343Nope, and something tells me if there was sabotage it would be from the mystery faction the "terran rogue" represents. Not to say that fairchild is beyond such things. There are alot of people from different corners who would've like to see the exchange turn into a shootout, with the odds on papaer (numbers and armaments) favouring the jovians. So many possibilities. The going rogue thing is just ridiculous though.
>>47398397Not everyone is as willing to turn a complete 180 from being military to piracy as certain lady boys getting the D and as cool as he is roarke isnt magic. He only got 20 something guys from Suleiman
>>47398427He's an Aussie mate. I don't think he works for anybody.
>>47398446Just curious if he could do it as far as mechanics goes
>>47398447He works for anyone who provides him with a ton of piss-cheap beer and an internet connection to express his top-tier bantz.
>>47398453Really, I think the best option would be doing a joint operation on the Green Skulls. The SOUL unit were designed for it and they both have a common enemy. It wouldn't be joining, but rather a common enemy that needs to be put down.
>>47398479and a hat with croc teeth on it. Speaking of which have obtained the items needed to sway him to our side?
>>47398528How much space Vegemite do we need?
You're not a mechanic at all, but in the time it takes the Lieutenant to finish talking with the Colonel, the actual technicians have time to look at your machine. As time goes on, the Lieutenant is looking happier and happier, until he's finally grinning.Meanwhile, Naomi nudges your arm, "I never quite took my Morse training as seriously as you did...what exactly were you talking about? You're not really going back there, are you? What are you going to do, fight him on your own?">[What say?]
>>47398585Hell no, he's a pirate. We're going to get what we came for, that's it.
>>47398585Hopefully in two hours the headman will show up himself and we wont have to.
>>47398585>Captain Oda wants to 1v1 me. What am I supposed to do, say no?
>>47398585Honestly? Probably the best bet to do this with as little bloodshed as possible. Losing may make negotiations harder, but with our coms down, chances are hostilities would have happened and turn this into a huge shitstorm for everyone. Everyone is going to make it out of this alive or with as few casualties as possible. Also why is the lieutenant smiling? Him smiling is scary.
>>47398585He gave his word dammit and now that our comms are being fixed we must engage in an honorable dual.I just want to see how well Caesar goes up against Oda. You know after we tell them why we are actually there for.
>>47398585Well, I always wondered how I'd stack up against Oda...
>>47398585"Its a duel, and I doubt he intends it to be to the death. And given that the prisoner exchange is probably going to be for hard cash if worst comes to worst, and I'm too good for that, my machine gets trashed and then ransomed back and I have that hanging over me. Look at it this way, its an opportunity to beat some pirate ass without ruining the exchange."
>>47398662>Losing may make negotiations harder,Losing means Caesar willingly turns himself over to Oda.Whereas winning gives us Moe.That's like, the shittiest deal.
>>47398704Either one means we can gain intel also.
>>47398727Good point, if we end up captured they'll probably put us in the holding cells which might give us a chance to speak with Sam and figure out how to bust her out or at least whats going on
>>47398704Its a shit deal indeed. Though I'm sure if it comes down to it the prize can be rengotiated with our comes working before we start. Though on reflection if we got mo and his mech we could trade them back for sam and her mech without paying that bigass ransom money.
>>47398757mainly what's going on. Let's face it Wong's going to throw a curveball at us and force Roarke and Caesar to work together
>>47398783* coms working
>>47398704The alternatives would have been worse. You want to trade lives with pirates in a fortified base that has countless hostages on it? Want to fail the mission hard because we couldn't get the message across? As others have said, our value isn't much in this case since it's a prisoner exchange. Moe does seem to have some importance and getting oda to bow will improve our standing which would put us in a better position. This was never a full out fight and there is absolutely no point in making one. Besides, now we can get coms working or use another medium to get our point across.
>>47398784Of course I usually doubt things going smoothly and perfectly according to plan
>>47398757Also, we'd have a face to face with Roarke. Something tells me starting hostage negotiations as a hostage would be hilarious.
>>47398784Which will be great cause I love both characters we've played plus i'm waiting for the inevitable game discussion with Oda, that'll be a good laugh I bet!
>>47398812He doesn't know it but something like that would win alot of points with Roarke
>>47398808Words of wisdom from Mike Tyson, "Everybody's got plans, until the get hit."
>>47398784>implying the crew of the jaburo aren't dead men walking
>>47398844Imagine the laugh. Especially if we rock our 10 cool.
>>47398803Nigga Caesar already said he needed two hours.Oda is going to take that as acceptance, there is literally no way to not fight him at this point.
>>47398856Knowing the General she's probably got an informant on board the Jaburo.
>>47398877And bombs. Probably has the green skulls waiting with cloaked ships she lent them nearby as well.
>>47398860Since they both have 10 cool it would just be Bane posting
>>47398885So you're saying if roarke takes off the glasses he'll die?
>>47398817>Oda learns that we literally stole king swordfish > We learn that Oda Emulated all of our games we will expose our power levels like never before, and everyones going to see it. Miles, Roarke, the Blanchetts, Naomi... our cool will never be 10 again
>tfw all anyone has to do to beat the Kingfish II in combat is disable either of its arms
>>47398877Yep. We already know this is Game of Thrones with Mechs. Luckily both protagonists are anime ones. What could go wrong?
>>47398898>As its charging at you with a 12k armor piercing lance>no pressure
>>47398919All it takes is a couple of dodges and a counter attack

>>47398935If you miss a dodge you die.And this guy has a ton of luck to burn on making that attack hit.

>>47398942I dont think I would be able to overcome such a betrayal
>>47398957You forget that they have to contend with us also. Once we get within arm range it's an entirely different game.
>>47398942I doubt it. Probably some one we've never met. I don't think Miss Catlover is an actual Colonel for military ops. Sounds like she was in a non-combat role before this post.
>>47398977Who is 'us'?
>>47398942That would be perfect and a really great deception.
>>47398986I think he means Roarke and not Oda.
>>47398984That's certainly the persona she's trying to cultivate. Just like a good agent provocateur would.
>>47398984Exactly why she makes a perfect undercover agent
>>47399009>>47399012I see your points.
>>47398986>Aren't we theorizing about a battle between Caesar and Roarke? So the "us" would be Roarke. Even if it's Oda, he'd do very well I would think. One of the reasons he lost to Roarke is that he is much less specialized. He's still a beast.
>>47399036I think we need to go back to being Roarke soon. I believe we are succumbing to Space madness.
>>47399061I mean its hard not to want to be Roarke again he's a fun character to play
>>47399012I'm more worried about what made Mr Zangief smile. He shouldn't be smiling so much. It makes me think he's going to do something stupid.
>>47399073With excellent fashion sense and a damn good mixtape.
"It's a duel. I gave my word as a m-m-man." You feel a lot less confident with her staring directly at you. Then she smiles, "Well, even if you lose and get captured, we outgun them, right?""I'm mostly hoping for intel." You protest."Mhmmm." She nods."It's a good chance to test the King Swordfish." You protest more."Mmmm-hmmm." She looks up at you with very bright blue eyes."I have to fight him. It's a chance to duel Oda Yoritomo. At least you've gotten to fly some proper missions before." You grumble. "In a Test Pumpkinseed, I've only had test flights in the Puffer. Be careful. If you don't come back, I'll come after you. I'll call you an idiot, but I'll still come." She smiles, and pats your head. The Lieutenant ends his call, and starts laughing, "They got her. The same mechanic was working on all three machines right before they left, something about a communications problem. She's in the brig right now. Not saying a word...but we've got time. Oh yes, we're going to find out what's what." He cackles. One of the technicians scurries past, carrying three surprisingly small, innocuous little strips of machine. [Continued]

You know, Roarke is worst pilot out of the big pirate names we've seen so far in terms of combat. He's good up in your face to a horrifying degree but nothing else.Yet he's probably the best suited for a leadership role and most adjusted overall. His skills are weird and all over the place and don't make much sense at all but it just WORKS.
>>47399320It works in part because of houserules. Seduction is supposed to be based off empathy and not cool, for example.
>>47399320A lot of its due to his base stats where his cool and Reflexes are as high as possible with the rest being moderately high
>>47399343Let me guess, you like taking black
>>47399320Lies, slander and libel technically.
>>47399360Pretty much everyone has max reflexes, though. Kind of diminishes the value of it.
>>47399378Dexterity once again being the god stat.
>>47399320You wot m8. Roarke has the highest piloting and fighting skill of any pilot we've ever come across.
You try to examine them, but the truth is, you've never actually been very good with machines. You ask the mechanic, and he explains briefly, "You know that switch that changes the comms frequency from ally-only to hailing? Disconnected entirely. It was feeding you false readings to make you think you could still adjust the frequency, when a smaller transponder permanently set to ally-only was the only one linked up to your helmet. A bit crude, but we're lucky it wasn't anything more serious. I didn't find anything else out of place. I could give it a more thorough checkup, if you like...but that would take several hours. Didn't you say you were going back out? It's not like I was listening in, I just sort of overheard." He scratches his nose."Well, yeah. Nothing else immediately out of place?" You scratch your head."Nope. No bombs or anything, if that's what you're worried about. I'm sure she was just a delusional Roarke Starwind fan or something." The mechanic shrugs, and takes the little metallic strips away.>[Anything else you want to say to anyone before you go?]
>>47399393Doesnt oda actually have more, just spread out?
>>47399393>Literally didn't read the post.
>>47399393Seriously. He's the Bruce Lee of this universe. Focus on one thing until you master it. Why be mediocre at a bunch of mediocre shit?
>>47399432Now just imagine how good were going to be once we finish training with Master Asia
>>47399413Ask the LT to lead a squad to check the ship's vital systems just in case.
>>47399432Sort of fucked though if someone gets a faster mech with a long range gun.
>>47399413Kiss our girl for luck. Make sure that everyone is ready, and keep the comms open if Zangief has some news.
>>47399415One thing Roarke has that most pilots don't, incidentally, is the technical ability to build his own mech with time and tools. He wouldn't do as good a job as Karen or Cornelius Cohen would do, or Cassius, but he has a better dicepool than many of the accredited mechanics aboard the Jaburo right now when it comes to Mecha Tech.
>>47399415Yep. We beat him because we got close and zero g MMA style ground pounded him.
>>47399448I mean, yes i think that's probably a good idea, but Caesar has no real reason to think someone in his own military is out to destroy the Jaburo.
>>47399479I think taking his int 10 into account he most likely thinks something strange is going on and probably thinks its Roarke pulling some bullshit
>>47399465>Kiss our girl for luck. This kills the waifu.
>>47399479We just had our shit sabotaged, might as well check to make sure the really important shit is ok.
>>47399456You don't have to be faster than the mech. Just the hands piloting it. We have a sweet ass mech with 2 mad scientists tinkering on it. The KK is practically an extension of our own hands.
>>47399468>Roarke building an exosuit from food-trays and toilet parts when thrown in the brig when?Seriously though, silly skill to have when he has one of the best mechanics in all of space working for him. I don't see how it will ever come into play unless there is an isolation arc.
>>47399507She has to die for caesar's character development. It's in the contract.
>>47399517Er, no, if the mech moves faster and has longer range it just kites you.
>>47399517Doesn't do us much good if it just stays out of range and shoots us. Cant dodge forever. Also pretty sure everyone's mechs are extensions of themselves, arent they linked to their minds?
>>47399517>You don't have to be faster than the mech. Just the hands piloting it.No he literally means "Knuckle Kaiser moves 400 meters a turn. But this mech moves 600 meters per turn and has a gun". Because that's all it would take to effectively kill KK is being able to kite him and staying over 400 meters away so he couldn't use the grapnel on them.
>>47399528Not really. It's good to know what your personal machine is capable of. That way you get all the use out of it. Plus emergency repairs.
>>47399547This is why we need anti-range shielding and wings soon.
>>47399528Its gonna come in handy when we have to go to space Guyana Highlands for our training arc
>>47399528That skill saved us from being stranded in space and dying of starvation. We nigger rigged a harpy into a killing machine to make an even better killing machine. Prolly would have been Space Cannibal Quest without the tech skill.
>>47399528Didn't seem so silly when his harpy got facerolled by the green skulls did it?
>>47399528It already literally saved his life when he cobbled the KK together out of 4 nearly destroyed mechs.
>>47399565>>47399571>>47399574>because plotSo what your saying is it served no functional purpose aside from a single thing and thus far has done literally nothing for us other than PLOT!Okay.Because if we didn't have it we would have still made it, but in a different way.
>>47399595Or this could've turned into space military rookie quest starring Caesar.
>>47399595Maybe because we haven't made any choices that utilize the skill
>>47399595It makes sense from a character background point of view seeing as all the pirate pilots in the iron kestrels have that skill.
>>47399595It'll come in handy when the green skulls come in and kill everyone but us. Again.
>>47399606>literally "mecha space pirate" for the first thread>nah we would have been the opposite insteadI don't have a reaction for this.
>>47399625>Six waifus killed at onceThe salt would be unimaginable
>>47399542>>47399546>>47399547I'm pretty sure Roarke already breaks the rules of this universe. But by your reasoning, they have to dodge us, then level their weapons. We are a threat no matter what. Once we get serious, which we are already doing, with our training we will get even more frightening.
"Lieutenant...maybe we should see if the ship's vital systems are alright, maybe the saboteur did more damage." You interject before he goes stomping off to the brig, practically breathing steam and clearly working himself up to well and truly shout at someone. He grunts, "Good point. Let her sit and stew, I'll see if there're any recon mecha on this thing and have them run a full check. Thanks, Ensign. Good luck out there...but in all seriousness, Colonel Stern says you're pretty good with a sword. If you lose, look for a way to get free, you don't get into SOUL without being capable." He grins, "Besides, we'll get some information either way, and I'd rather my sister have a friend in there than be alone.""Y-you don't have to act like I'm going to lose." Your shoulders slump, before Naomi pinches your cheek."We don't think you'll lose. You've got the King Swordfish, right?" Naomi grins. You put your arms around her, and the Lieutenant looks away, clearing his throat and finding something to do that isn't interrupting a young couple. You kiss her goodbye, and hop into your mech. The two hours are almost up. The stars streak past the panoramic view of your cockpit, the rumble of your mighty engines propelling you forward horn-first back towards Auditorium. Two mecha are waiting for you there, the Osano-Wo resplendent in blue, purple, and gold, and the big Harpy-thing whatever-pirates-call-it. It's a little hard to identify what it was made from.>[Issue a manly challenge?]
>>47399650They dont have to dodge us, they just have to engage us outside our grapple range and move backwards. All the training in the world wont help us if we cant move our mech as fast as his at that point.
>>47399664State our name and mech name loudly. And tell them why we came here to begin with so we can get things going after the duel.
>>47399595So, you have no idea how to fix a flat tire? or work on your car in general? knowing how to work on your machine is entirely functional.
>>47399650>we can only get 1 more point in mecha combat>this will cancel out the one thing that perfectly and absolutely counters Roarke at this moment>despite it having no bearing on the very thing that actually dictates how it counters his mechaNigger. Stop. This overestimating should go play in traffic.
>>47399650This is a good point, no one we've fought so far has actually pushed Roarke to be serious>>47399664>While I am a big fan of you and your emulations, im not going to hold back
How terrifying exactly would Caesar be if Naomi died and he went full villain? After all, Clemmy said they're a lot alike.
State lineage and deeds in true samurai fashion to make oda squee then POWERTHRUST SO FAST AND PLACE DRILL TIP AGAINST SUSANOWOS COCKPIT AND SCREAM IAIJITSUUUU BITTTCH DO YOU DO ITTTT
>>47399694So, then it'll be a stalemate. Unless we get an improvement in speed. What continues to differentiate us is our skill. We just need the hardware. Also we have Muhammed Ali style intimidation. People know about us. Our exploits are gonna get to them.
>>47399664You are Ensign Heinrich "Caesar" Merrow, pilot of the King Swordfish mk 2. Your mission is to negotiate the return of Samantha Blanchette to the navy. If beating you in the field of honor proves my mettle and opens up negotiations, then so be it.
>>47399743How are you this retarded? Were you dropped on your head as a kid?If a guy with a gun keeps shooting you while moving faster than you can, the only question is when you die, not if.
>>47399735If you have ever lost someone you love pretty much genocide tiem for all reponsible for her death.
>>47399753I like this one.
>>47399743More of a hard counter than a stalemate. If his gun can hurt us it is categorically not a stalemate since we wouldn't be able to attack him at all while he can shoot us to his hearts content.
>>47399704 What i'm not hearing is a solution. All i'm saying is we are clearly a force to be reckoned with. A figurehead. And not someone to be taken lightly. There is bound to be a workaround. We have one weakness. With tons of strength.
>>47399785Stronger shields, faster mecha, or more length to Grapple-Chan
>>47399785No seriously, are you suffering from space madness?
>>47399758Okay then. Fix the problem. No need to resort to name calling duders. I enjoy the quest, i'm just not fatalistic.
>>47399801Did Wong ever answer if Grapple-chan had a max range of 3.2km?
>>47399785To put it in terms of pokemon to make it easy for you to understand. We are a level 100 machamp with all fighting moves. The faster guy with a gun is a level 60 xatu.
>>47399812There is a great need to resort to name calling when a retard keeps being retarded no matter what everyone is telling him.
>>47399812Honestly dude where do you think you are? You should fully expect to be called names here
Lol xatu my sides
>>47399812Here>>47395072Install that shield on the kaiser. Done. Now shut the fuck up with your autism.
>>47399812There is a difference between fatalism and common sense. Roarke is amazingly dangerous in close combat but as a trade off he is piss poor at range. The grapple is the only thing that makes him not utterly useless at range. This is why we have a ship full of backup and cant just expect to faceroll everyone all the time.

The thrusters in their drill-shaped mounts kick up to a fever pitch, turning into a column of piercing white flame behind you as you angle your legs properly for additional thrust and lock your lance in place. You hit him like a thunderbolt. His reflexes are good, he throws the small shield on his left arm up to protect his body...but it isn't enough. It isn't nearly enough. The Swordfish Lance tears through the shield and into the left arm beneath, ripping open the metal like a cheap beer can and exposing the circuitry beneath before you twitch your arms and tear his off completely. The spinning of the lance shreds the shield and arm servo still clinging to it, leaving it once again pure and clean. You jab at him twice more, but his lighter mech buzzes away despite your revealed power. The loss of his arm doesn't dissuade him. He spits something Arabic-sounding and angry at you, and fires his own thrusters, getting in your face while his remaining ember-red blade flashes twice. like the sting of a hornet.A tentacle, once again, intercepts the first one. >>47400481Finish him, thrudglemir!
>>47400475not to mention it would bring Roarke out to see what the commotion is about.

>>47400483That could work
>>47400483That does sound pretty agreeable.
>>47400498That doesn't make Moe any less of a fuckup.
>>47400520To be fair his mech is incredibly outmatched.
>>47400520Eh. Our lance is dangerous enough to possibly one-shot KK or oda's mech. Setsuna is just in a weaker mech all around.
>>47400520To be fair to moe caesar is a prodigy with a machine that makes a harpy custom look like piss by comparison.
>>47400530You know, maybe Mohammed knew he'd probably lose and went with it because it would get him away from Oda for a while.
>>47400544>Our lance is dangerous enough to possibly one-shot KKThe torso of KK has more than 12 kills, so no.
>>47400530True. We have a beast of a mech, and we are a protag to boot.
>>47400520I like Moe. He is an adorable little guy. Give him a better quality mech thats not so fragile and he'd be a better contender. Besides, isn't his original focus guns and not swords? He's a pretty good all rounder compared to the others.
>>47400545Karen worked really hard on that machine, okay, and we don't need you badmouthing her work.
>>47400560It can do 14K on a charge. Or did you not see the fight just now.
>>47400548At the very least he'd take his loss graciously and see it as a learning opportunity. Provided he doesn't die.

>>47400571Only because his original mech was a space jet.
>>47400573It is amazing that she can make so many awesome things from a Harpy chasis. With none of the resources of the feds.
>>47400593That wouldn't be a one shot, but the original guy's point is wrong, because KK's torso has exactly 12 hits.

>>47400610I wouldn't say none of the resources. Less certainly but not none.
>>47400618I hope you are the same guy as >>47400050
>>47400618Again, the irony.
>>47400624True. I was just stating that they have dedicated funds and likely tons of people on rnd. Karen is truly a mad scientist. In the best of ways.

>>47400661True. It's still two people. Compared to whatever they got. Pretty damned awesome.
>>47400683To be extra fair its two people plus the actual pilots themselves.
>>47400577>>47400615AP doesn't reduce your armour to 0. AP reduces it to half. We survive a 14K attack. 12K + 3 (7Sp/2).
>>47400701If he burns luck and megacrits, armor goes poof. So the point still stands.
>>47400715>burning luck>expecting Roarke not to do so in returnWell okay then. I can see your point and how it might make sense if we were retarded to the point of drooling on ourselves.
Is Moe becoming the Krillin of Mecha Pirate Quest?
>>47400727>has his mouth so thoroughly suctioned to roarkes cock that he can't even acknowledge the point without sounding retardedSam, go home, you're drunk.
>>47400697Too true. Definitely shouldn't discount that. It just seems that the feds have had the SOUL prohect in the works for a while, requiring connections for beam tech and multiple pilots for testing. Plus the PR campaign. Whereas our little crew hasn't had near as much time, money, or research it seems. Just wanna give credit where credit is due.
>>47400734So long as he's not the Yamcha
>>47400736Your argument revolves around Roarke fucking up so hard that he cannot conceivably defend himself in any way.
>>47400741Our team also copies shit that has already been made for the most part.
>>47400734Right now he's teetering on Yamcha, he needs to make a critical save to be Krillin
>>47400715Lmao. You are a shit. A literal piece of shit. THe worst "if" argument you could give. Roarke burns luck and unmegacrit. Even then Roarke has +3 base on him.
>>47400749>tfw karen makes some autonomous harpies that grab onto a mech and explode.>these always manage to kill one recurring enemy
His strike is perfect, pure skill and reflex, as thoughtlessly accurate as the bite of some wild beast. However, right now, you are not your normal, awkward self. You are Caesar, pilot of the King Swordfish, a mech that in its previous iteration soloed Green Skull bio-armor. You twitch just out of the way, the beam of plasma contained by an A-Particle sheath leaving a harmless but ugly burn scar across your arm...and you whip your drill around faster than such a big mech has any right to.Three jabs, he dodges, but the fourth pins his remaining arm through the shoulder and rips it off, leaving him floating harmlessly in space.By Jove, Naomi is going to love this.>[Make an Awareness roll, 1d10+10]
>>47400736>his>Sam>does not computeSam is a woman, if he were a him then he could not be Sam who is a her. Your analogy is flawed.

>>47400781Why don't you both agree that it's theoretically possible but unlikely? The maximum Ave Caesar damage is 18K AP. The 12K base from the lance plus six hundred meters of travel. However, it has -2 WA, and Roarke has 3 points of Mecha Pilot over him, and has a much more powerful shield than Mohammed to parry with if necessary. Both have a fairly even portion of Luck points, although I believe Roarke has more due to his superior Piloting. By the same token, if Roarke got lucky he could probably rip Caesar's torso open in CQC, since he can hit a maximum of 6 times with 6K AP fists (on account of the shield epaulet). Or he could go for the arms to take out the lance. As far as one mech versus the other goes, they're both fairly even. I designed them that way intentionally, you might notice that their point count is almost the same. One is the equivalent of a GM upgraded and customized to the max, the other is a new reconstruction of a legitimate ace of ace's unit. As for Mohammed, he's in a much weaker mech while still being around Caesar's level of skill. He could, potentially, have won if he got lucky, but Caesar had an advantage in terms of sheer damage and protection...which is to be expected.

>>47400939At this point it might not even be the original people arguing.
>>47400934>ebin butthurt memeYeah, we get it, you have image macros (with filenames even, I'll be damned). Can you try something new when your avenues of attack are obviously failing?
>>47400927>>47400919I disagree, but there's an element of strategy involved. I think the other players are smarter than to, say, chase a high-speed mech with a long-range weapon in open space without trying to use cover or anything else. This is assuming no Grapple-chan shenanigans. However, if you can't work it out yourself that's fine.
>>47400939I'm starting to think it's the same person who's shitting up the thread just for the hell of it. Buggers can't even contain their damn power levels.
