You awake in your tomb, you are hungry…The lid of your once fine and decorative marble tomb has been broken open, but thankfully it is night. Through your rotting ears, you can hear two men arguing about which bit of jewelry that you wear is theirs. Though you have been asleep for so long, you have enough power to effect the minds of men, especially wicked people; much like these two apparent grace robbers. You send your influence to tell one of the men to look closer at the jeweled necklace that you wear. The first man does so, leaning closer and closer with a greedy look on his face. Before the mortal knew it, you reach for his throat and quickly slit it open. Blood pouring into your thirsty mouth. The other man is silently screaming on the floor, terrified and prone. Some of your strength returns to your withered limbs to give you mobility. You rise from your tomb as though lifted by invisible hands, and survey your burial chambers. Most of the fine treasure has been stolen, leaving only moth eaten tapestries and rags about the stone floor. But the most devastating loss is that of your favorite bride; whose tomb had been opened by a wooden beam from the ceiling. You had both agreed to sleep in torpor for a lengthy time, to wait out mortal hunters. But apparently you have sleep for eons.>(Main choices)A. Try to improve settlement. B. >>46884583Thanks!You quickly launch yourself on the foolish grave robber, half mad with rage at your loss. He smells of blood, fear, and whiskey. You lay your hands on either side of his temple and quickly kill any sort of free will from his mind, he tries to fight you off, but his fists are like that of a baby’s. He passes out, but you know that your influence over him is absolute. You can call on him and use him as you wish once he awakens. You fling open the doors leading out of the tomb, and ascend a flight of stairs as quick as a shadow. You see now that the robbers had to dig your tomb’s entrance with their crude shovels. What once was a stately graveyard, you now see that most of the tombstones have been weathered away, and some are overgrown with ivy. The sky is a murky and bleak, the smell of rain hitting your powerful sense of smell. You feel as though a powerful darkness has descended upon the land, a lingering evil that invigorates you. Over to the east, past the forest, you can see smoke rising from chimneys. To the south, long and winding road leading towards a valley. West are tall mountains and rough terrain; as far as you remember, no roads could be made along those peaks. And finally, northward towards the ruins of your old castle. Which lays in crumbling pieces along the desolate earth. You still have time before your new thrall awakens, and a nervous energy to spend.>(Main choices)A. Try to improve settlement. B. You still feel weakened by the eons of sleep, and though you are strong enough to overpower an untrained man, you still feel the need to arm yourself in case of stronger foes. The graveyard is sparse, but you recognize the graves of old military men; back when you hunted the night as a lord of these lands. Your tear into the earth, and reach for the coffin of a captain of the guard; who had been buried with his longsword. Its not a fantastic weapon, but something is better than nothing. Emerging from the grave, you feel the metal presence of your new thrall awaken. It tries to hide from your powerful mental gaze, but cannot escape your influence. You return to the crypt, sword in hand.“Rise slave, and meet your master!” the thrall quakes at the mere sight of you, knowing how bound he is to you. You grill him with questions, asking about the state of the world, what happened to his castle, and about the nearest town“Well, the world has been in constant gloom and doom ever since the monsters and evils of this world took dominion. Vampires, werewolves, and other abominations are the true rulers of the world now. Their supernatural influence almost wiped humanity off the face of this earth, but we are still the most populous race around. But we now live in terror of leaving the safety of our towns. Even there we can only hope that devils such as yourself do not creep into our homes. Some folk make a living hunting monsters and such, but those damned fools only either get killed or become monsters themselves. A vampire hasn’t been seen in this area for over 400 years, and the mortals of the town owe this to the church and their priests. But the truth is, we are such a small village that powerful vampires simply ignore the morsel in favor of hunting prey in larger towns”You would never have guessed that the forces of darkness would have finally defeated the mortal menace. But this means that there is competition for power and blood amongst members of your race. Feeling pride inside of yourself, you realize that you could perhaps be the oldest of your race to come in a long while. You ask what year it is, and you receive the answer of 3434. This date staggers you, you have been asleep for over two thousand years. It was any wonder that your tomb hadn’t been robbed sooner.
>>46886064>ContinuedYou tell the thrall to return with a suitable meal, and to make it snappy. The thrall bends his back in an anguished bow, and quickly leaves the tomb; glad to be rid of your presence. In this time, you begin flexing your slowly regaining powers. Using some of the blood you took from the first robber, to morph your body into a nightmarish man-bat. Your hearing is increased, but your sight is slightly diminished. Clinging from the ceiling, you wait patently for food to arrive. Food arrives several hours later, and it does so in the form of one of the men’s horses a struggling and bound woman.“She is a whore from the town m’lord, no one will miss her. And I am not sure if you can, but I also offer my fallen comrade’s horse if you are still hungry.” He hasn’t seen you yet, but he gets a full view when you swoop the woman from the horse, and quickly snap her neck. The sound of flesh being bitten upsets the man, you vomits in the corner. After you drain the woman, you fall on the horse, and drain it as well. While you can drink from animals, it’s not a pleasant taste. Not like humans… >[You gain the blood status: Full!]>(Main choices)A. Try to improve Castle. B. Try to improve Weapons and Armor. C. While the thrall loses his dinner in the corner of your chambers, you tell him he is to clean this tomb before sunrise. Ascending the stairs again, you head to the tombstones of the graveyard to once again test your might. Drawing on the very powers of evil itself, you cast a rudimentary necromancy spell to give the gift of unlife the corpses. You quickly realize that your powers are still returning to your body, as all the energy that you gained by drinking the horse and whore leave you… and then some. You sleep, somewhat afraid that 2000 years would pass. But you awake the next night on schedule. Two more whores are brought before you. The Skeleton watches the prisoners with the sword you gave it, ready to strike if they move.>[Blood now at: Partially full]The thrall bows before you.“M’lord I have done as you have asked. The towns folk have already known to leave this place alone, but now they will see this place as under repairs until further notice. It appears that no one has claimed this area of land, perhaps if we had enough gold, we could buy the claim for the mayor. As for improving on the state of your lair, I have stolen from the shops various furniture items and books for your pleasure. ” You see a collection of fine plus chairs, though it appears that some of them where in a second hand shop. The books also look shabby, but no doubt they will offer much in the way of information.Your next orders are for the repair of the castle. The thrall begins clearing a section of castle that seems to still be in shape; which happens to be the old kitchens. Rusted pots, and moldy plates are thrown away. But a stove that was covered by rubble seems to be in working order. The thrall begins moving stone blocks, and arranging them into new sections of wall and ceiling. By the time he is done, you have a new room of your castle rebuilt. You graciously give this new room to the thrall as reward for his services.

Another day passes. When night comes, you hear voices from the surface. Five men in total, strong and ready for work. You hear your thrall speak to them:“As I said, I am hired by me master to see to the repairs to this old castle, it wont be easy work, but he will see that you are justly rewarded.” Indeed, you would. You check in the broken mirror that the thrall was able to get for your lair, but remember that you make no appearance in them; you would have to punish him for his stupidity later. You know that hunger for blood causes your normally smooth and handsome face to look gaunt and more monster like, and no doubt the thrall forgot to get a food source while obtaining the workers. With a mental message, you tell the thrall to have the men come in for an interview. He does so, sending the first man down. He is quietly drained of blood, which fills in your cheeks and almost gives your pale skin a flushed look. The next three are quickly turned into thralls, all of which lay on the floor as they await their slavery. The last one sees the three men, convulsing on the floor, and tries to run out of the room. You give chase, but recoil at the sight of a cross, a pendant of his faith around his neck. You order the thrall and the Skeleton to kill him. The bone warrior running the rusty sword through the man’s guts. It’s a shame that the blood was wasted, but you cannot drink deadman’s blood. After thrashing the original thrall for his carelessness, you recuperate your energies to cast a spell on him. He is quickly filled with nightmares and visions of terror, gibbering about phantom monsters that only he can see. He is the perfect test rat for your spells

The two who don’t have families are put to work with the original thrall on improving the castle. Three new rooms empty are made, beginning the ground work for the foundation of the castle. These are quickly turned into new living quarters for the workers and their families; simple rooms with straw as bedding. Bare essentials to be sure. The men return, informing that they are selling their homes and bringing their belongings along with their families. One of the men begs that the master spare his children, of the same fate that has befallen him. But he is quickly reminded of his position.“I thought Count Murden was the worst and most terrible of your kind, but surely you will surpass him my lord in his power and ferocity. Not to mention looks.” The original thrall says, obviously hoping to distract the vampire from his thrashing of the thrall. It worked for… now“Count who?” you say, letting the thrall slump to the floor in pain.“Murden m’lord. It is said that he is the puppet master of the city of Kurk; which is in the south. Hmmm... I have an idea if we're going to start a town, instead of feeding from the populace, we could possibly feed off of criminals, bandits, and other fiendish characters. Of course, short term it's a bad idea, but long-term it's an idea.>BWe're going to need weapons for our thralls so adventurer's don't rape us in our sleep.
>>46889826I second this. knowledge is power!

>>46890000Honestly, I think I'm obligated to do this post now...writing!
>>46890057You tell your thralls to continue work on the castle. You are hungry, and grow tired of waiting for food to be brought to you… You need to hunt, to kill in the shadows like the top of the food chain you know you are. You transform into the man-bat, webbed wings taking flight in a pitch black sky. You quietly zoom over the forest, hearing with your stellar hearing, savage beasts and other nightly terrors that roam the wood. Past the forest, you see the town for the first time. The town is walled, with huge logs acting as an impressive battlement. Torches are lit, and the sleeping forms of guards line the wall; apparently they are not used to attacks. This works for you, as you quietly fly past them, and land on the roof of a house. Using your claws, you scurry down the house, and return to your human form. You find yourself in a grimy alley, the smell of garbage and the leavings of chamber pots hitting your sensitive nose like a kick from a draft horse. You quickly go towards the entrance of the ally. You look out at the town square, the whole town is in apparent calibration. Ironically, it is a holy day for the church, a feast day of the saint of monster-slayers; saint Michael the archangel. Here and there you can see mechanical horses pulling carriages with giggling women, and dashing looking men in top hats. Apparently not much has changed in terms of technology; mankind still using bygone relics from years gone by. Many of the contraptions puttering or emitting smoke. Signs for long gone products like “Coca-Cola” and “telegrams” fading away on the sides of buildings. It seems that mankind, having been defeated, regressed to a slightly pre-Victorian style society, with smatterings of their former technology being repaired by sheer force of will. Electric lights fill the town, making it look like a glow worm in contrast to the dark swirling clouds above.
>>46890659>continued“Care for some company M’lord?” a woman with a red corset and short purple skirt says, an obvious lady of the evening“My dear, I would be charmed” You say, leading her towards the alley. After draining her dry, and throwing the corpse in a pig-pen, you make your way into the town.As you socialize, you begin to feel like your old self again. No longer the old and grumpy vampire lord, but the wolf in sheep’s clothing. You laugh, and pretend to drink the wine given to you. Along one large table, the mayor and his daughter sit with the town priest. Your gaze looks at the cross around their necks, and you recoil slightly. But you take a look at the mayors daughter… she is… familiar. She is the spitting image of your lost childe, with slight differences. Her curly auburn hair, her pale skin, and her piercing blue eyes…she must be yours… If only to become your new companion in undeath. As you watch her from a distance, you see the priest excitedly talking to the mayors daughter, and by the looks of it, she did not like his company; his face close to her’s as though he was her suitor.>Introduce yourself. >You will make your move later. I am Lord Le Vieux, at your service” You say to the mayor, but your eyes are fixed on his daughter. But the mayor hardly notices, as he drinks from his beer stein.“Ah it is Good to meet you Lord Vieux. I don’t believe we have had the pleasure of your company before. This is my daughter Maria, and this This is Father Frollo our priest”“Charmed to make your acquaintance”Pleasantries are exchanged, and an offer to join them at the table is made. Which you take.“Will you be staying with us long Lord Le Vieux?”“I plan on settling close by, I have come to reclaim an old ancestral home I have inherited”“Where is this home? I have seen most everyone in this village, and yet I have preformed no funeral services in the past half of a year” the priest says, looking at you with an expression of doubt.“It is the old castle past the woods. I wasn’t made aware of our home until I looked at old records, the crest of the keep is the exact same as the one on my ring” You show your ring, showing the crest of a shield and two dragons on either side holding bleeding swords.“We knew of the Castle, but nothing unfortunately remains of it. Surely you cant be staying there” the priest adds, hoping to catch you off guard. But the Maria interrupts him“I have always wanted to see the ruins. But they are beyond the forest, and I fear to go there.”
>>46891748>Continued“I would be delighted to show you once we have made progress”“Yes… perhaps I shall join you. One mustn’t be alone in the company of strange men Maria. I bid you a good night” The party at the table give a farewell, and you leave the table. After you make your way into the crowd, you near the alley, intent on making your way back to your hold. But you feel a tap on your shoulder, it is Maria.“I… I don’t wish to bother you, but my father is having a birthday party soon. And I am sure he would love company that wasn’t the priest for a change. But I understand you will be busy with your construction work.”“I think I can do that. I wouldn’t want to disappoint would I?”“Excellent! Then I will see you in a week on Sunday?”“You certainly will” with that, you nod your head. While doing so, you casually begin using your mind powers to leave an impression on her mind. With any luck, she would begin to obsess over you. “Good night” and with that you leave. Choosing a different alleyway this time. With speed, you return home, just before the sun makes it wretched return.>(Main choices)A. Try to improve Castle. B. Try to improve Weapons and Armor. C. >>46892176>>46892157>>46892150You're doing a good job op But see we need other important figures so that our enemies attack them first instead of us.

>>46892279Another vampire means they'll be just as thirsty if not more then us. We don't have anything stable enough to handle that plus they'll have the same weaknesses as us. A wight isn't a subtle weapon for us but that's the point they'll be our big muscle and our fall guy
>>46892279problem with making a vampire under us is that they may go rogue... I suggest we use Thralls, they're cheap, disposable, and if we get some willing thralls, they may prove useful in providing a fall-guy.Additionally, going into biomancy may result in FUN!
>>46892309All the same, it took all of our energy to summon one skeleton. Elder vampire or not, I don't think we have the juice to make more powerful undead right now.I think we should stick to thralls for now. >>46892368Our energy is replenishiable but I see the point However when one of our noble thralls dies his body will be used for necromantic experiment
The next night begins, and you find that your thralls have done an amazing amount of work. While one consults you about the floor plans, the others begin laying the work clearing the foundation of the stones. The blackish stone that can’t be used for walls are used in a wall that will hopefully surround your keep. The families come to the sight, and are given rooms, with much complaining from the new members of your Dominion. The thralls quickly try to quiet their complaints, as you look at one of the mothers with a hungry look in your eye. It is easy to keep order with such glances. The original thrall pickpockets and steals any cross that they brought with them, and disposes them quickly. After another two nights, you have the ground floor made. Though it is fairly minimalist and square; unbecoming of a lord of the night.“M’lord. While we are working on the basic structure of the castle, we are no artist. If you want decoration, we will need skilled workers. With this, I think we can hire someone from the town; thanks to the money your thralls have donated to you. I’m afraid that turning these men isn’t the wisest choice, as they are well known and respected in many towns. But I think we can hire one, and be very happy with the choices”He gives you a list of a few local crafts men, They will consume much of your meager amounts of gold but will be well worth it when it comes to the castle:>Mort Farger: practical man, he will design a fort more than a castle. Traps, and other devices will throughout your keep.>Bartholomew: A dark visionary, sharp looking towers and gruesome gargoyles and monsters along the battlements. “I shall send word at once m’lord. He is a master stone worker, and has many fine statues” The thrall sets off to hire the architect, a sack of gold safely hidden under his shirt. Two more days pass, and Bartholomew seems more in tuned to your dark vision than you had hoped for. He draws up plans and sets to work getting his apprentices to begin the statue work. The rounded base of towers begin to be built, while chisels hammer away at stone and marble. Spiked wrought iron is purchased, and is used for the tops of walls and along the higher windows. A mote is also dug, though it will be some time before it is filled with water from the mountain streams. The following night, you receive word that from one of your thralls:“My master, there is a figure spotted near your castle. this is the most promising civ thread ive seen for a good while
You morph into the man-bat version of yourself, pushing the worthless thrall out of your way. Some jobs are best done by yourself. After you fling yourself into the inky night. You begin using your keep hearing, and echolocation to scout the area. You find many wolves and other vicious animals making their hunts for the night, but nothing out of the ordinary... Until you draw closer to the town. Along final stretch of road, you spot a figure riding a black stallion at full tilt. You make your decent, focusing on swooping the rider straight off his charge. But as soon as you do, you begin to feel weak. Wolf’sbane! Too late you realize that you are fighting a hunter of some sort. The figure turns toward you, and fires a wooden arrow straight for your heart. You manage to swerve out of the way just in time, but had you been slower, it would have sent you to your final death. Circling around, you see the figurehead toward the gate of the town. Cursing the rider, you return to your castle in a fuming mood. Your thralls run, as you scatter tools and large stone blocks away with the strength to make it look like a child throwing his teddy bear. One of the stones lands on one of the thralls, crushing his spine and killing him instantly.
>>46893884>continuedWhile the others look on in fear… you get an idea. Lifting the stone, you set to work applying necromantic powers into the lifeless form of the now dead thrall. Intending to make a zombie from his body, perhaps even make a flesh golem. Your powers are still weak, and it drains much from you, too much. Much of the organs and spine are broken beyond repair, and in your weakened stage it draws too much from you to accomplish the feat. Recklessly, you release this energy in a burst accidentally. You can hear wailing and moaning, as the soul of the man you killed ties itself to the mortal plane. Quickly, before you grow too faint, you bind the soul to you, and absorb it. You feel a rush of power!>[You can now bind and use souls as components for spells or to heal you]You believe that this may be useful. You believe that if you had a laboratory, and perhaps enough power either from nature or from supernatural methods, you could work great feats of necromancy.>(Main choices)A. Try to improve Castle.
